- 0:02Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls at your favorite time
- 0:05Speaker 1: of a week. You get to download the crazy sheets,
- 0:07Speaker 1: You get to spend some time with Markan Scotty as
- 0:08Speaker 1: we get ready for the natty baby We're here started
- 0:11Speaker 1: in June. We got one game left, Monday night, National Championship.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Brother, how the hell are you?
- 0:17Speaker 1: Man?
- 0:18Speaker 3: I'm good, just ready to wrap this bad boy up.
- 0:21Speaker 3: It's gonna be a lot of fun. Been a surprising season.
- 0:24Speaker 3: I did not think Mario crystal Ball could get it
- 0:27Speaker 3: done for three games, but by golly, he did, and
- 0:31Speaker 3: I was sure glad he did last week.
- 0:35Speaker 1: So as a Mississippi state, we don't do a whole
- 0:38Speaker 1: lot of homerism here now. Granted, over the seventeen years
- 0:41Speaker 1: we've been podcasting, I have listened to you compare almost
- 0:43Speaker 1: every team in the country to some form of Mississippi
- 0:46Speaker 1: state or coaching through this. But as a Mississippi native
- 0:51Speaker 1: grown up there, grew up in Start Vegas.
- 0:53Speaker 2: A lot of people may not know that went to
- 0:54Speaker 2: high school there, went to college there. How big was.
- 0:58Speaker 1: The tech string blowing up when you thought Old miss
- 1:01Speaker 1: was gonna win that game and played for the national championship?
- 1:03Speaker 2: Uh?
- 1:03Speaker 3: You know, not nearly as big as I thought it
- 1:05Speaker 3: would be. There were I mean there's I've got a
- 1:07Speaker 3: couple of group chats that were that were kind of
- 1:11Speaker 3: going up. But I think everybody was like truly scared
- 1:13Speaker 3: they were gonna win it. Because when when when Miami
- 1:17Speaker 3: didn't intercept those four passes and they kept killing themselves
- 1:22Speaker 3: with penalties on drives, you thought, man, this is this
- 1:27Speaker 3: is how the worst team wins it. And it really was,
- 1:31Speaker 3: any of those picks, it's gotta got one of them
- 1:34Speaker 3: was for sure gonna be a pick six he doesn't
- 1:36Speaker 3: drop it. I think two of them would have been,
- 1:39Speaker 3: but Ole Miss scored on two others, so I mean
- 1:43Speaker 3: it was it was they had one huge play and
- 1:47Speaker 3: then one roughing the passer had got them a field
- 1:49Speaker 3: goal before halftime, or they'd have had maybe thirty yards
- 1:51Speaker 3: total offense. And you're sitting there thinking, holy smokes, this
- 1:56Speaker 3: is how they this is how they're gonna do this.
- 1:58Speaker 3: If Miami's gonna give this ball came to him. But
- 2:01Speaker 3: when they scored with whatever it was, twenty eight seconds,
- 2:03Speaker 3: eighteen seconds, whatever, thirty eight so whatever it was, Miami
- 2:07Speaker 3: scored to take the lead. I looked at my wife
- 2:10Speaker 3: and my son. I said, you just need to be
- 2:12Speaker 3: prepared that Old Miss gonna be throwing into the end
- 2:14Speaker 3: zone with a chance to win, And then they did.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Old Miss was good that that team was the pert.
- 2:22Speaker 3: They are not remotely one of the most four or
- 2:24Speaker 3: five talented teams in the country, I don't think. But
- 2:28Speaker 3: that whole deal with Langkiffin galvanized them, and that team
- 2:31Speaker 3: got better and better. And chadlis is like a video
- 2:34Speaker 3: game I am. I like, honestly, I just thought Chambliss
- 2:39Speaker 3: was shorter than he was, is why? And so you
- 2:41Speaker 3: start going here like why is he? I mean, I
- 2:43Speaker 3: get when somebody's offering him five million dollars coming back
- 2:46Speaker 3: to college, White wants to go back to Old Miss.
- 2:47Speaker 3: I would probably want to go back to Ole Miss
- 2:49Speaker 3: after the year I've had, But I mean, and I
- 2:53Speaker 3: get that, But the you realize he's six foot one,
- 3:00Speaker 3: and you're like, what, how's this guy any different than
- 3:03Speaker 3: Kyler Murders? And I saw some draft handler what throws
- 3:08Speaker 3: balls high? He does this? I'm like that so much
- 3:11Speaker 3: makes video game plays too? Am I gonna give him
- 3:14Speaker 3: any credit for that?
- 3:16Speaker 2: So?
- 3:16Speaker 3: I mean, I just I don't know how in the
- 3:19Speaker 3: world that guy's not gonna get drafted over some of
- 3:22Speaker 3: these guys. And I don't know how, especially if you've
- 3:26Speaker 3: got a like I think the Chiefs are nuts to
- 3:30Speaker 3: not draft him, especially if he's around later you know,
- 3:33Speaker 3: third round something. Now how long he'll last. But if
- 3:37Speaker 3: he's around third, fourth round, that guy his my homes,
- 3:41Speaker 3: throwing sideways and throwing on the run, and I mean
- 3:45Speaker 3: they wouldn't have to change their offense at all. I mean,
- 3:48Speaker 3: that guy is a magician on some things. And you
- 3:52Speaker 3: know what he is. He's a winner. Man, I was
- 3:55Speaker 3: gonna say he's a winner.
- 3:57Speaker 2: He's a dog. I mean, the guy means dog.
- 4:00Speaker 1: He what a Natty already Division two balls up? Comes
- 4:03Speaker 1: in not the started old Miss. Didn't think he was
- 4:06Speaker 1: going to be the started old Miss, uh, because I
- 4:09Speaker 1: mean you and I w when we looked at old
- 4:10Speaker 1: Miss pregame, we weren't looking at this kid at all,
- 4:13Speaker 1: and I mean preseason. And you know, comes in takes
- 4:17Speaker 1: over it and just progressively gets better as they start
- 4:20Speaker 1: folding more of the offense into him. And no, absolutely,
- 4:22Speaker 1: I don't think they're here if he's not for him.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Yeah, there's no if Austin Simmons will have been the
- 4:28Speaker 3: quarterback for twelve games. And how odd is it that
- 4:30Speaker 3: he got the shot from an injury, just no shot
- 4:34Speaker 3: and then boom, they looked great and then he gets
- 4:37Speaker 3: another shot. He's like, well, I can't pull him more hot,
- 4:39Speaker 3: you know. And took a lot of balls on Kiffin's
- 4:42Speaker 3: part too, you know, to uh to stick it. But
- 4:45Speaker 3: I think a lot. I think a lot of their success.
- 4:48Speaker 3: I ain't Pete Golden hit the nail on the head
- 4:49Speaker 3: that galvanized that team, that brought them together and and
- 4:54Speaker 3: and kind of kind of stuck them. Did you did
- 4:56Speaker 3: you see that all their nil numbers got released?
- 4:59Speaker 2: No?
- 5:00Speaker 3: And they're all blaming Kiffing. I told one of my
- 5:02Speaker 3: I told one of my friends. I said, they're gonna
- 5:04Speaker 3: blame Lane Kiffen for everything that happens to Old Miss
- 5:07Speaker 3: football for the next ten years. I was like, it
- 5:10Speaker 3: doesn't matter unless they win the Natty. He's gonna get
- 5:13Speaker 3: to blame for the next ten years for anything negative
- 5:16Speaker 3: that happens to him. It's just I think it's I
- 5:19Speaker 3: think it's hilarious, but the uh and it could have
- 5:22Speaker 3: been him. I have no idea, but I was very
- 5:26Speaker 3: very glad I had somebody ask me, since you're a
- 5:28Speaker 3: Mississippi guy, are you cheering for Old Miss? And I
- 5:34Speaker 3: just looked at him, like, is this guy serious? I mean,
- 5:38Speaker 3: is he serious? I mean, hell no, I'm not sure
- 5:43Speaker 3: I would have cheered for the Devil and his Angels
- 5:47Speaker 3: over Old Miss in the in the semifinals. I mean,
- 5:51Speaker 3: give me look, look, I generally do cheer for the
- 5:54Speaker 3: Southeastern Conference, but not when it's Old Miss. And you know, great,
- 6:00Speaker 3: you're gonna win the Duke's Mayo Bowl, Great, no problem,
- 6:02Speaker 3: I'll cheer for you. You start having a chance to win
- 6:05Speaker 3: the Natty? Hell no, how does that benefit my school?
- 6:09Speaker 3: It doesn't. It hurts us, and I am out on that.
- 6:13Speaker 3: So but Old Miss was a really good football team,
- 6:16Speaker 3: and taking the fun and the joking and poking at
- 6:19Speaker 3: the Old Miss fans out of it, they were a
- 6:21Speaker 3: really really good football team and very easily could have
- 6:25Speaker 3: won that game and did not play their best either.
- 6:27Speaker 3: They did not play their best football either. And uh,
- 6:31Speaker 3: while Miami didn't either, Old Miss didn't either. And then
- 6:34Speaker 3: moving on to Indiana, whole man, dude, they're just they
- 6:40Speaker 3: just are rolling. And I saw I saw something mark
- 6:44Speaker 3: on this week that what a Indiana is doing is
- 6:49Speaker 3: so unprecedented from a talent level now, we've never had. Look,
- 6:53Speaker 3: they are less than a year younger than the average age,
- 6:57Speaker 3: is less than a year difference than the Green Bay
- 7:00Speaker 3: the playoffs.
- 7:01Speaker 2: They're old. They're old.
- 7:03Speaker 3: So what they're doing is experience and they've got really
- 7:06Speaker 3: experienced players that are disciplined. You know. He says, I'm
- 7:10Speaker 3: looking at production over potential, and I like that, and
- 7:14Speaker 3: that makes sense and in this model that will work.
- 7:18Speaker 3: But it is unprecedented what they're doing from a talent
- 7:21Speaker 3: level on a roster to what they're doing. And they're
- 7:24Speaker 3: not only doing it, they're gas can in people.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:28Speaker 3: I mean they beat the dog out of both teams
- 7:31Speaker 3: they've played. And you know, looking back, you called it, man,
- 7:36Speaker 3: Betonal Oregon was stupid. It was stupid. Did they play poorly, yes,
- 7:40Speaker 3: that it was the game that big of a difference
- 7:42Speaker 3: between the two teams, know, but man, they went in
- 7:44Speaker 3: there and beat them by ten at home. You should
- 7:47Speaker 3: have known on a neutral field they were fixing and
- 7:49Speaker 3: light them up. And uh, you know, that's just that's
- 7:53Speaker 3: you know, And I also think the two games that
- 7:55Speaker 3: Oregon had played were a little bit you know, we're
- 8:00Speaker 3: I think now, once you get past that layoff game,
- 8:03Speaker 3: I don't I don't think game two, game three, it
- 8:05Speaker 3: helps you to keep playing. You start getting beat up
- 8:08Speaker 3: and things like that. But you know, Indiana is really,
- 8:12Speaker 3: really good. Oregon, man, he's got great news this week.
- 8:15Speaker 3: They're gonna be fabulous again next year. I think they
- 8:18Speaker 3: are a legitimate national title team next year.
- 8:21Speaker 1: And then la is gonna he's already he's going. But
- 8:24Speaker 1: he's got a red shirt next year and sit behind Uhdry.
- 8:27Speaker 3: Moore, which, if he's disciplined enough to do it, is
- 8:30Speaker 3: exactly what that kid needs. He's not nearly as good
- 8:32Speaker 3: as he thinks he is, but he is talented and
- 8:36Speaker 3: he needs to quit trying to be Patrick Mahomes and
- 8:38Speaker 3: be Dylan Ryola and figure out who that player is.
- 8:42Speaker 3: And he's gonna do that sitting on the bench. Look
- 8:44Speaker 3: how good it was for more the red shirt and
- 8:47Speaker 3: do it. He's got the chance to do the same thing.
- 8:49Speaker 3: But is he disciplined enough, because you know, somebody's calling, oh,
- 8:53Speaker 3: I've got the money, I've got money. I've got especially
- 8:55Speaker 3: at this point, oh I've got money. Is he disciplined
- 8:58Speaker 3: enough to go do it? So we'll see. But if
- 9:01Speaker 3: he does good for them and that puts Oregon in
- 9:03Speaker 3: tremendous shape again, two years from now, they'll you know,
- 9:06Speaker 3: they've got a quarterback.
- 9:09Speaker 1: One thing I'll tell you that. I think it'll be
- 9:10Speaker 1: the takeaway from this season for me.
- 9:12Speaker 2: You know, we we.
- 9:13Speaker 1: Joked like last year was the closest thing I've seen
- 9:16Speaker 1: to two thousand and seven since two thousand and seven.
- 9:18Speaker 1: I mean, you and we talked about it, and then
- 9:21Speaker 1: it finally you started hitting on the national media screens.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Not because they're listening you to me, but it was
- 9:26Speaker 1: like they finally you know, hell, I don't even know
- 9:28Speaker 1: some of these guys watch football.
- 9:29Speaker 2: They just talk all the time, but.
- 9:30Speaker 3: They don't the bish clearly.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Oh no, fuck no, no.
- 9:35Speaker 1: But this year, the big takeaway for me is that
- 9:40Speaker 1: you're gonna have to you know, we're so used to
- 9:42Speaker 1: and we've watched so many years of football, and you know,
- 9:45Speaker 1: we've talked about it for the most of you and
- 9:47Speaker 1: I as adult life, there's only been fifteen or twenty
- 9:50Speaker 1: teens that we thought can actually win the national championship.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Maybe fifteen, ten or fifteen just because you had the.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Program, build recruit, you had the money bags whatever.
- 9:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Well, and so I think with the public and everybody else,
- 10:03Speaker 1: I mean, everybody loves the story, and obviously Indiana is
- 10:07Speaker 1: the story of the season coming into this game. But
- 10:10Speaker 1: the other thing, I think you got to realize with
- 10:11Speaker 1: Indiana being there, with Texas Tech being there, with Miami
- 10:16Speaker 1: becoming relevant for the first time in twenty years, I
- 10:18Speaker 1: mean they haven't been at the stage since they played
- 10:21Speaker 1: Ohio State in the Rose Bowl when Willis McGahee or
- 10:24Speaker 1: know when yeah, Willis mcgabe blew his knee out and
- 10:27Speaker 1: we got introduced to Maurice Clarett. You know, we haven't
- 10:30Speaker 1: seen Miami at this level of football that long. But
- 10:33Speaker 1: my point is is that I think we're getting to
- 10:35Speaker 1: the point where, like you're gonna have the name brand
- 10:37Speaker 1: bias of what's on the front of your jersey isn't
- 10:41Speaker 1: gonna always. I don't know if those days are going
- 10:43Speaker 1: to stick around that much longer. I think we're gonna
- 10:45Speaker 1: see more teams that could pop. You get you get
- 10:47Speaker 1: a good coach, you get a team, and you got
- 10:50Speaker 1: money coming in behind you that can unite the right
- 10:53Speaker 1: group and get some leadership behind it. I think anybody
- 10:56Speaker 1: can make a run, especially if they're gonna expand to
- 10:59Speaker 1: sixteen teams, because once you get in the tournament, you
- 11:02Speaker 1: get yeah. And I've said that before and everybody's like,
- 11:05Speaker 1: I had not really, but this year you get the tournament,
- 11:08Speaker 1: you get a shot.
- 11:09Speaker 3: The big teams used to be so deep. Yeah, And
- 11:13Speaker 3: the Mississippi States and the Old Misses and the Indianas
- 11:17Speaker 3: even when they were good. You know, you go back
- 11:18Speaker 3: to when Pennix was young and Allen was their head
- 11:21Speaker 3: coach and played on missing a bowl game, and uh,
- 11:25Speaker 3: they were a good foot. They were a good football team.
- 11:28Speaker 3: They have twenty two, they might have thirty real players,
- 11:32Speaker 3: I mean really really good players. The difference was is Alabama, Georgia,
- 11:36Speaker 3: Ohio State at eighty they had That's right, they had
- 11:39Speaker 3: sixty five to eighty depending on how good the program was.
- 11:43Speaker 3: And now that is not the case. Everybody's lucky if
- 11:48Speaker 3: they got thirty or forty. And it is a different
- 11:53Speaker 3: environment now. The real guys that are going to make
- 11:56Speaker 3: this or the talent evaluators and the teams that have
- 11:59Speaker 3: a plan for nil that that that truly are maximizing
- 12:04Speaker 3: that and Old miss is gonna stick around. I don't
- 12:07Speaker 3: care who the coach is because they've got a great
- 12:09Speaker 3: nil plan. You hear that they've mortgaged their future and
- 12:13Speaker 3: they've done I laughed at a Missisippi State guy at
- 12:15Speaker 3: our basketball game Thursday night, saying that, I said, if
- 12:18Speaker 3: you believe that you're a dumbass, let me tell you
- 12:21Speaker 3: what's gonna happen. Old miss is about to get so
- 12:24Speaker 3: much out of state enrollment. It's the same thing's going
- 12:26Speaker 3: on in Indiana right now that those guys are gonna
- 12:30Speaker 3: be paying twenty twenty five thousand more dollars a kid
- 12:33Speaker 3: if they take in three thousand, four thousand kids from
- 12:38Speaker 3: out of state instead of half of campus. They make
- 12:42Speaker 3: that from being from Mississippi. They make it forty percent
- 12:45Speaker 3: or thirty five percent from Mississippi. And they take all
- 12:48Speaker 3: these out of state kids they just paid for an a.
- 12:52Speaker 3: They's paid for it. So don't believe that it's this
- 12:56Speaker 3: Nick Saban factor. It's exactly. It's the Kurt Signetic factor
- 12:59Speaker 3: in Indiana. It's what's going on. I mean, you can
- 13:02Speaker 3: make an argument Kurt Signetti's underpaid for what he's doing
- 13:06Speaker 3: for enrollment at Indiana right now. I mean, it is
- 13:09Speaker 3: amazing what's going on so man, I just don't buy that.
- 13:13Speaker 3: The teams that start having success and get it figured out,
- 13:17Speaker 3: and I don't care if it's took a risk, that
- 13:19Speaker 3: risk is paying off good for them. That's what talented
- 13:23Speaker 3: people do. They bet on themselves, and that's what that
- 13:27Speaker 3: you know, that really is what you know the head
- 13:29Speaker 3: of the growth collective and the athletic director had done.
- 13:32Speaker 3: They were both I think they were both at at
- 13:34Speaker 3: all miss at the same time when as a football player,
- 13:36Speaker 3: and of course Keith Carter was a basketball player. But uh,
- 13:40Speaker 3: they've bet on themselves and they've gone and made it happen,
- 13:42Speaker 3: and now they're winning, and now things start paying for themselves.
- 13:46Speaker 3: People they think, oh, look, if Golding's not the right guy,
- 13:49Speaker 3: they're gonna move on in two years. And with what
- 13:52Speaker 3: they're doing in the portal this year, I just don't
- 13:55Speaker 3: see him taking a step back. I don't. I don't
- 13:58Speaker 3: care that Kiffin's gone as long as that's because Pete
- 14:01Speaker 3: Goldie's still a damn good defensive coach. And man, they've
- 14:04Speaker 3: been out getting some dudes, I mean dudes, pass rushers, linebackers,
- 14:09Speaker 3: I mean, you know, defensive backs. I mean, they've at
- 14:12Speaker 3: every level they've gone out and gotten somebody big time
- 14:14Speaker 3: out of the portal. So I mean, I don't think
- 14:16Speaker 3: Old Miss is going anywhere. And if Golden can't get
- 14:18Speaker 3: it done, well, guess what They're going to go get
- 14:20Speaker 3: somebody else that can because Old missus committed. So again,
- 14:25Speaker 3: I think the teams that have a plan, I don't
- 14:27Speaker 3: think at the front of your jersey matters anymore. It
- 14:32Speaker 3: is what is you're playing. Texas Tech is not going away.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Old miss is not going away. And the kids just
- 14:38Speaker 3: don't care about the Marquis brand anymore because they're getting paid.
- 14:43Speaker 2: In the bag.
- 14:44Speaker 3: They're getting paid. I mean, these got what Mississippi State's
- 14:47Speaker 3: got that tackle from Colorado on campus right now. Supposedly
- 14:51Speaker 3: the number is two and a half million dollars. Now,
- 14:55Speaker 3: State's already spent a gazillion bucks in the portal right now,
- 14:59Speaker 3: and I they want this kid. His old line coaches,
- 15:01Speaker 3: State's line coach, the guy that recruited it. That's why
- 15:04Speaker 3: he's there. But at the end of the day, State
- 15:06Speaker 3: gets them if they got the money, and if they don't,
- 15:08Speaker 3: somebody else is gonna get the money. It's not complicated.
- 15:12Speaker 3: You don't have to be a brand anymore. You just
- 15:16Speaker 3: got to show the guy that A I can pay
- 15:18Speaker 3: you and B I got a plan for you to
- 15:19Speaker 3: get to the NFL.
- 15:21Speaker 2: That's it.
- 15:22Speaker 3: And so it's different. And I don't think these teams
- 15:25Speaker 3: are going away, and I think it hurts long term.
- 15:28Speaker 3: You know some of the marquee brands. Look the Ohio
- 15:31Speaker 3: State's and Michigan's. They got major money. But everybody's talking
- 15:34Speaker 3: about what's going on. It has things of loving out
- 15:36Speaker 3: Southeastern Conference used to pay and now that well, I
- 15:39Speaker 3: may have been some merit to that, but not really.
- 15:40Speaker 3: If you were a dumb ass to think that some
- 15:45Speaker 3: of these teams weren't paying, you're crazy. I mean, because
- 15:48Speaker 3: it wasn't like Ohio State wasn't going recruiting Florida kids.
- 15:51Speaker 3: They weren't just letting those guys leave. If Florida's paying
- 15:55Speaker 3: and Ohio State's not, I'm not gonna have that conversation
- 15:58Speaker 3: with you again. You're too dumb for me to talk
- 16:00Speaker 3: to about this. But now we're to a point where
- 16:04Speaker 3: you can pay whatever, and those schools do have more money.
- 16:07Speaker 3: And again, the talent base was so structured in the
- 16:10Speaker 3: Southeast over to Texas from basically Virginia over to Texas
- 16:15Speaker 3: that those schools had an inherent advantage. Their parents could
- 16:19Speaker 3: watch that. Hell, now these kids are making a Megan five.
- 16:22Speaker 3: It doesn't matter if their mom and dad can't afford
- 16:23Speaker 3: to fly that game. Hell, they can fly.
- 16:26Speaker 2: They'll put it in the contract.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like, you gotta find my parents over there.
- 16:30Speaker 1: It is.
- 16:31Speaker 3: This is a different world, and the teams that have
- 16:34Speaker 3: a plan are going to win.
- 16:37Speaker 2: And so I agree.
- 16:39Speaker 3: I just think people don't really understand what's going on,
- 16:42Speaker 3: and it is going to be fascinating to see what
- 16:45Speaker 3: are the teams that win and what are the teams
- 16:47Speaker 3: that don't, And who's the guy who's got a plan
- 16:50Speaker 3: and who who's the guy that doesn't, you know, because
- 16:53Speaker 3: at the end of the day, it's about money.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I completely agree with you, and I mean and I
- 16:58Speaker 2: do it.
- 16:58Speaker 1: The talient of valuation is a big deal, big deal,
- 17:01Speaker 1: and is getting those guys there and making sure you're
- 17:04Speaker 1: getting the right guys in. It's not just about getting
- 17:07Speaker 1: the five stars, because now you're looking at evalves from
- 17:10Speaker 1: Division two kids and things like.
- 17:12Speaker 2: That that weren't on your radar.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Would never a Division two kid to jump from D
- 17:17Speaker 1: one to D two D two to a power five
- 17:20Speaker 1: school was.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Fairy tale end five years ago.
- 17:25Speaker 3: And that all no because because they're not recruiting high
- 17:30Speaker 3: schools anymore. I mean, why would you take the risk
- 17:33Speaker 3: of a kid if if basically all the recruit is
- 17:36Speaker 3: four and five stars. Now, if he's not ready to play,
- 17:39Speaker 3: they're done. They move on. They're like, we'll go to portal.
- 17:42Speaker 3: We'll find somebody for the portal. Well, that means all
- 17:45Speaker 3: those kids that are three stars that are they're gonna
- 17:48Speaker 3: go to the Miami of Ohio's or the Steven F.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Austin's or the you know, and I'm just gonna continue
- 17:54Speaker 3: running down or the Fairest States or the hardings at
- 17:57Speaker 3: Division two. That's where they're going. Where the quality of
- 18:02Speaker 3: play is going to increase. Is that some of those look,
- 18:05Speaker 3: they're going to be getting dudes that they've never been
- 18:08Speaker 3: able to get. And I think the same thing is
- 18:10Speaker 3: going to be true in Juko. They're going to be
- 18:13Speaker 3: able to get guys they've never been able to get. Actually,
- 18:16Speaker 3: guys who are eligible that just need more film, more development,
- 18:20Speaker 3: more time to work. So it's going to be fascinating
- 18:23Speaker 3: this the PortLINK going away unless they do something to
- 18:27Speaker 3: limit it, which I wish they would. I do want
- 18:29Speaker 3: to comment on the South Carolina. I can't remember if
- 18:32Speaker 3: as ad or president basically making this. If Congress isn't
- 18:36Speaker 3: gonna do something, the NCAA is not going to do something,
- 18:39Speaker 3: then we may have to go out on our own.
- 18:42Speaker 3: I don't think that's as nuts as people think it is.
- 18:46Speaker 3: We have to get some guardrails. This stuff's out of
- 18:49Speaker 3: control and people have I truly don't believe mark people
- 18:53Speaker 3: have any idea how much money is being spent. There
- 18:55Speaker 3: are people out there that really think, well, they're only
- 18:58Speaker 3: spending twenty one million all on total in ILA this year. Okay, okay,
- 19:06Speaker 3: well if that's revenue share, it's not pay for play.
- 19:10Speaker 3: There's another twenty twenty five million. I mean, hell, what
- 19:13Speaker 3: was that? What ross Yorick last week was like I
- 19:16Speaker 3: think he said they needed to get the fifty two
- 19:17Speaker 3: million to finish up to frostrate. It's see two million.
- 19:24Speaker 3: It's like the Dodgers sustainable. It is not sustainable, and
- 19:28Speaker 3: we're paying kids that don't need to be paid. That's
- 19:31Speaker 3: the problem in these kids. You go sign a kid.
- 19:35Speaker 3: The state's got alignment leaving right now. That kid's leaving
- 19:38Speaker 3: because we signed a guy in the portal who's got
- 19:40Speaker 3: four years to play. He was a retrot freshman left
- 19:44Speaker 3: he's signing. We signed the guy to be a backup
- 19:46Speaker 3: to this guy, and he's pissed off because they're making
- 19:51Speaker 3: the same money. I'm like, he's going to be there
- 19:53Speaker 3: four years. It was like, you got one year left, Like,
- 19:57Speaker 3: of course that's what it is, trying to get on
- 19:59Speaker 3: and oh, by the way, you got hurt and didn't
- 20:01Speaker 3: play five games, you know, So it's just asenon what's
- 20:05Speaker 3: going on. These guys can't be developed. They can't. It
- 20:07Speaker 3: is we have to get guardrails. But and I ain't
- 20:11Speaker 3: going anywhere. We do need to can pay for playbook.
- 20:16Speaker 1: The if you get a chance and you go look
- 20:18Speaker 1: at the proposal that Cody Campbell's put out, it's interesting
- 20:21Speaker 1: what his take is in the sense, and I don't
- 20:23Speaker 1: want to dig too deep into it, but the I
- 20:25Speaker 1: don't know that the SEC and the Big ten are
- 20:27Speaker 1: going to get on board with it right away because
- 20:29Speaker 1: it's going to lose the amount of cloud that those
- 20:32Speaker 1: two conferences have to kind of drive the sport. But
- 20:35Speaker 1: his deal is is like, look from a media perspective,
- 20:38Speaker 1: We don't need to negotiate as conferences.
- 20:40Speaker 2: We need to take college football like the NFL does
- 20:43Speaker 2: to the media and.
- 20:44Speaker 1: Say we want go and he goes, and he's like,
- 20:48Speaker 1: if we do this, he goes.
- 20:49Speaker 2: We're estimating that.
- 20:50Speaker 1: We think it's a seven billion dollar type contract and now.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Everybody's going to get media. So you've got because people.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Don't know this, Like you go to a MAC game,
- 20:59Speaker 1: like there is no coach's office.
- 21:01Speaker 2: The coach's office.
- 21:02Speaker 1: At an Ohio game is the they're in the press box.
- 21:06Speaker 1: And so every year with every game, the coaches clean
- 21:08Speaker 1: out their office so the media can consider the press
- 21:11Speaker 1: box in their office to do that, and that's what
- 21:14Speaker 1: those guys are working with. I mean, so there's a
- 21:16Speaker 1: huge discrepancy in you and I know this about the
- 21:18Speaker 1: money that's on these per but you start giving, like
- 21:20Speaker 1: you start giving Ohio or Max schools twenty twenty five
- 21:24Speaker 1: million dollars a year in media that they could be getting.
- 21:27Speaker 1: You know, those guys, you could build some programs and
- 21:29Speaker 1: they're still going to be stepping stool type you know schools.
- 21:32Speaker 1: But either way, that's a ton of money for those schools.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Well, I don't think there's any doubt. And I mean
- 21:36Speaker 3: this that obviously the SEC and the Big Ten are
- 21:40Speaker 3: on different on a different level, but the Big Twelve
- 21:44Speaker 3: in the ACC are nuts if they don't combine and
- 21:49Speaker 3: start I say combined, but making the lines and overlap
- 21:53Speaker 3: exactly like Campbell's talking about, negotiate one contract. Hey, we're
- 21:56Speaker 3: going to play two out of conference games against each
- 21:58Speaker 3: other every year. Each team's gonna play the other league
- 22:01Speaker 3: two times. They're about the games. Take me Florida State
- 22:06Speaker 3: and Texas Tech isn't interesting. Tell me, you know, Miami
- 22:10Speaker 3: having to come to Baylor is not interesting. Houston going
- 22:13Speaker 3: to you know, going to play North Carolina, you know,
- 22:17Speaker 3: things like that. It makes it a whole lot more
- 22:19Speaker 3: in it makes it makes the games fun to watch.
- 22:22Speaker 3: And I do believe we're never gonna get conferences on
- 22:27Speaker 3: an equal level until until we get some overlap to
- 22:32Speaker 3: know who's the better conference who's not. We have to
- 22:36Speaker 3: we got to overlap on games to do that, and
- 22:40Speaker 3: I just I find it very very hard to believe
- 22:44Speaker 3: that the power brokers are going to be willing to
- 22:46Speaker 3: give that up. But if two of the conferences, like
- 22:48Speaker 3: the ACC and the Big Twelve are smart enough to
- 22:51Speaker 3: negotiate that as one, they can get paid and they
- 22:54Speaker 3: could possibly start making as much or more than the
- 22:57Speaker 3: big tens making.
- 22:59Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree. Hey man, let's jump to this one
- 23:01Speaker 2: more thing. I just saw this.
- 23:03Speaker 1: For next year because I'm trying to figure out week
- 23:05Speaker 1: zero we're gonna go out to Vegas or whatever. And
- 23:08Speaker 1: they just announced that Memphis is playing at UNLV week zero.
- 23:13Speaker 2: But here's a dinger for you in C State.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Of course, you've got you've got the North Carolina and
- 23:19Speaker 1: TCU game will be played in Dublin next year because
- 23:23Speaker 1: in C State, not to be outdone by a big brother,
- 23:27Speaker 1: we'll be traveling to Rio dejan Arrow to play Virginia
- 23:31Speaker 1: week zero.
- 23:32Speaker 3: Nice, gets you some Brazil down there.
- 23:38Speaker 2: That's the strangest thing I've ever heard of.
- 23:40Speaker 3: It go to Ireland than Brazil, even though the chicks
- 23:43Speaker 3: are probably significantly better cooking in Brazil.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Oh are you kidding me? Lord?
- 23:50Speaker 1: Oh?
- 23:51Speaker 3: Can you imagine you introduced.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Me to a hot Irish chick and that'll be the
- 23:55Speaker 1: first one I mean, send me a pick. Yeah, it
- 24:00Speaker 1: has been even Scottish eggs and crushing ale.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Now I got nothing for you there, all right, Scotty.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Here we go Monday night, Martin Luther king Day National
- 24:08Speaker 1: Championship Game Miami has been played in Miami's home stadium.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Now you may think they have a home field advantage.
- 24:15Speaker 1: The Indiana people are coming, brother, I'm telling you they're
- 24:17Speaker 1: gonna be there in droves for this one. Line opened
- 24:21Speaker 1: up around seven and a half. It's popped all the
- 24:23Speaker 1: way to eight and a half. Over unders actually come
- 24:25Speaker 1: down mine under forty eight and a half down, sitting
- 24:28Speaker 1: around forty.
- 24:28Speaker 2: Seven and a half. Most books you got there.
- 24:30Speaker 1: Miami comes in thirteen and two, ten and five against
- 24:33Speaker 1: the number six and nine to the under, averaging thirty
- 24:36Speaker 1: one points a game and giving up fourteen. Indiana's fifteen
- 24:40Speaker 1: and oh, try to do something that's never been done, Scott's.
- 24:44Speaker 2: Never been done.
- 24:44Speaker 1: Sixteen and oh we're talking about tolm Brady Patriots type shit.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Here man tried to and what happened when they tried
- 24:49Speaker 1: to go undefeated. Well we'll get to that later anyway,
- 24:52Speaker 1: fifteen to oh, ten five against the number nine and
- 24:55Speaker 1: six to the over, forty two points a game, only
- 24:58Speaker 1: giving up eleven.
- 25:00Speaker 2: You look at this game.
- 25:01Speaker 1: And it's in everybody on the planet in the media
- 25:05Speaker 1: and everybody is gonna be on Miami. And you can
- 25:08Speaker 1: see that from looking at the best spreads. You go
- 25:10Speaker 1: to the DraftKings. Let's see DraftKings, eighty two percent of
- 25:14Speaker 1: the handle and seventy five percent of the tickets are
- 25:17Speaker 1: laying eight and a half with Indiana. You go to
- 25:20Speaker 1: circa ninety three percent of this handle and seventy eight
- 25:24Speaker 1: percent of the tickets are on Indiana. So if you're
- 25:28Speaker 1: gonna be on Miami, you better enjoy your island because
- 25:31Speaker 1: you're gonna be there all by yourself. And this one
- 25:34Speaker 1: and when I look at this game, trying to find
- 25:36Speaker 1: some angles that we can monetize these tickets make some money.
- 25:40Speaker 1: There's a couple of things on what we've got here.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Number One, Miami's got some big injuries in this defensive
- 25:45Speaker 1: backfield and Moten who had to leave the game first
- 25:49Speaker 1: or second play in that Old Miss game defensive tackle.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I don't know if he's coming back. They haven't put
- 25:55Speaker 1: anything out yet on the last injury before I saw.
- 25:57Speaker 1: You've got three different dbs that are gonna miss that.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Two of them may not play, uh.
- 26:04Speaker 3: For the halftime.
- 26:06Speaker 1: Lager Lucas is out till halftime and then Damari Brown it's.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Undisclosed whether he's gonna play or not.
- 26:11Speaker 1: But that's a big deal because those guys are dogs
- 26:13Speaker 1: back there, man. That Miami defense is real, and that
- 26:16Speaker 1: that front seven that they got that's that's as good
- 26:19Speaker 1: as advertised, man. And so that's a big deal because
- 26:22Speaker 1: they can get a pass rush going without having the
- 26:24Speaker 1: blitz packages. I think this is by far gonna be
- 26:28Speaker 1: the best defense that that that Indiana has had to
- 26:31Speaker 1: face and what they're gonna get from here, and Indiana's
- 26:33Speaker 1: coming in pretty healthy. I mean across the board. They
- 26:36Speaker 1: lost Steven Steven Daily, but that was weeks ago. They've
- 26:39Speaker 1: been playing without him since they left the Big Ten
- 26:41Speaker 1: Championship game. And so when you get into these things,
- 26:44Speaker 1: and you're gonna talk more about in your angle on
- 26:46Speaker 1: hete Go Bud, but you get into this and you
- 26:48Speaker 1: go look at every indicator that's out there, and everything
- 26:52Speaker 1: points Storage Indiana. Everything took Point Storage Indiana. And but
- 26:56Speaker 1: most people couldn't name anybody on their roster except for
- 26:58Speaker 1: Fernando Mendoza. And it's like this team spirit and Signetti
- 27:02Speaker 1: and Siggs inside court. I love the guy we've been
- 27:04Speaker 1: bet on it for two years, you know, and I
- 27:05Speaker 1: loved him at James Madison. A couple of angles for
- 27:08Speaker 1: me on this one. Number one is if Miami is
- 27:10Speaker 1: going to stay in the game, they have to do
- 27:13Speaker 1: something that they do against They've got to run the
- 27:15Speaker 1: ball effectively, and because they're gonna be able to control
- 27:19Speaker 1: the clock and keep that Indiana offense off. Because where
- 27:22Speaker 1: everybody thinks the game slow is gonna go in this
- 27:25Speaker 1: one here is they think it's gonna be close, and
- 27:26Speaker 1: then Indiana is just gonna body blow these guys to death.
- 27:29Speaker 2: And I think that And the other thing you got
- 27:31Speaker 2: involved here is Mario Christopaul is still coaching at Miami.
- 27:35Speaker 2: And if we've ever seen anybody that can Mac Brown
- 27:37Speaker 2: a game, Mario's the guy. And we thought I thought
- 27:40Speaker 2: he was gonna do it against Old misk last week.
- 27:43Speaker 2: But I think he's got to run the ball.
- 27:45Speaker 1: So one bet I do like that I have in
- 27:46Speaker 1: pocket is I have Mark Fletcher, the running back from Miami,
- 27:51Speaker 1: over sixty five rushing yards. It's a prop that I like,
- 27:55Speaker 1: you can get that still it's out there. Run around
- 27:57Speaker 1: that number sixty eight and a half yards. I wouldn't
- 27:59Speaker 1: go much over seven two. But I think he's gonna
- 28:02Speaker 1: get a shit ton of carries in this game, and
- 28:04Speaker 1: I think they're gonna try to and Miami doesn't play fast.
- 28:07Speaker 1: They'll go slow, real slow, and just grind and pound
- 28:11Speaker 1: at you. I think they don't want Carson Beck to
- 28:13Speaker 1: make any mistakes. But at the same time, last game,
- 28:17Speaker 1: some of the offensive play calling was fantastic for Miami
- 28:19Speaker 1: that last game, that puddle screen that they ran to
- 28:22Speaker 1: Malachai Tony, fantastic play, the throwback when he had him
- 28:26Speaker 1: in the end, you know, streaking down the middle of
- 28:28Speaker 1: the field, touchdown, great play when he pivots out and
- 28:32Speaker 1: Carson Beck makes great play by him.
- 28:34Speaker 2: He's matured a ton through all this.
- 28:36Speaker 1: But I think Miami is going to pound the rock,
- 28:39Speaker 1: and so I like over sixty eight and a half
- 28:41Speaker 1: rushing yards for Mark Fletcher. Second bet for me, I'm
- 28:44Speaker 1: gonna go under first half twenty four. It's twenty three
- 28:47Speaker 1: and a half. I'm not buy the hook. Get it
- 28:48Speaker 1: at minus twenty. I think this game is gonna start
- 28:51Speaker 1: really slow. I mean, it's gonna be like a heavyweight fight,
- 28:53Speaker 1: trying to feel everybody out, don't want to make mistakes.
- 28:56Speaker 2: It's a big game.
- 28:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna go under the first half and I can
- 29:00Speaker 1: find it under ten, I'll probably go under the first
- 29:04Speaker 1: quarter as well.
- 29:05Speaker 2: You got any tickets in hand yet.
- 29:06Speaker 3: So here's the here's the deal for me, Miami has
- 29:12Speaker 3: got to be able to run the football. That to
- 29:16Speaker 3: me is what this football game is closed. And they
- 29:19Speaker 3: got a chance to win the game. Number one. Number
- 29:23Speaker 3: two that defensive backfield slash pass rush combination. Can they
- 29:28Speaker 3: get there with four and five and put pressure on Mendoza?
- 29:34Speaker 3: Remember he almost got knocked out in that Ohio State game,
- 29:38Speaker 3: got crushed. Just the best pass rush he's going to
- 29:41Speaker 3: have faced since that game, the best defensive line they're
- 29:44Speaker 3: going to have faced since that game. How do they block?
- 29:47Speaker 3: How do they do? Can they get down the field?
- 29:50Speaker 3: Does he have time to take advantage of these dbs?
- 29:55Speaker 3: And I'm assuming that some of these dbs are out
- 29:58Speaker 3: and they've got because that's that they're having to play
- 30:01Speaker 3: back there in place of a lot of these guys.
- 30:04Speaker 3: So what does that do? Those are the two things
- 30:07Speaker 3: for me. So basically, it's a line of scrimmage again,
- 30:09Speaker 3: what do they do? What does Miami do with the
- 30:11Speaker 3: line of scrimmage? And I don't honestly think it may
- 30:14Speaker 3: not matter if they're playing a bunch of young guys.
- 30:17Speaker 3: The disciplined route running things like that that they do
- 30:20Speaker 3: are probably gonna get some guys open regardless, but time
- 30:24Speaker 3: is critical being able to throw the football. And then
- 30:27Speaker 3: second again, this goes back to more Miami. Are they
- 30:31Speaker 3: gonna be disciplined enough? Are they gonna Is this gonna
- 30:34Speaker 3: be the team that didn't get any penalties against Ohio State,
- 30:37Speaker 3: played the clean game and and was good? Or is
- 30:41Speaker 3: this gonna be the clown show that tried to give
- 30:44Speaker 3: the game to Old Miss because they should have blown
- 30:45Speaker 3: them out. I mean, they gave up that one long
- 30:48Speaker 3: run and then they kept getting penalties and kept dropping interceptions,
- 30:53Speaker 3: And is that who they're gonna be? Or are they
- 30:56Speaker 3: gonna maximize those opportunities the draw feel like if those
- 31:01Speaker 3: happen this week, they're gonna make them because most of
- 31:05Speaker 3: the time the players don't do that too. That doesn't
- 31:07Speaker 3: happen two weeks in a row, two ball games in
- 31:09Speaker 3: a row. Ball usually bounces the other way is kind
- 31:13Speaker 3: of the same, So I'm interested, But the penalties are
- 31:16Speaker 3: the mental aspect, and is this team ready for what's coming.
- 31:22Speaker 3: They're in their home stadium, and they're gonna be coming
- 31:24Speaker 3: out of the visitors locker room they're coming out of
- 31:26Speaker 3: They're at their home stadium, and they're probably gonna have
- 31:29Speaker 3: less fans there because I'm with you, I think every
- 31:33Speaker 3: Indiana fan in America is gonna be there. I know
- 31:35Speaker 3: my ass would be if it's Mississippi State, I don't care.
- 31:38Speaker 3: If it was ten grand, I would be there. So
- 31:41Speaker 3: I think get in cost I saw was three grand.
- 31:43Speaker 3: They got dudes laying it everywhere. I can bet your
- 31:45Speaker 3: bottom dollar. So I think there's gonna be a huge
- 31:49Speaker 3: Indiana contingent and so I am very, very interested to
- 31:55Speaker 3: see can they be disciplined enough to not make the
- 32:00Speaker 3: big mistake. And that is the critical part of this
- 32:04Speaker 3: of this game for me, disciplined versus undisciplined. It is
- 32:09Speaker 3: why I think Indiana is gonna win, and it is
- 32:11Speaker 3: why I think they're going to cover. And it drives
- 32:15Speaker 3: me batshit to bet with the public drives me crazy.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Like you see those kinds of numbers, You're like, well,
- 32:23Speaker 3: I'm on the wrong side of this number, And that's
- 32:26Speaker 3: pretty much the way it is. But I think disciplined
- 32:29Speaker 3: versus undisciplined. The only thing that can change that, and
- 32:32Speaker 3: you're gonna know it fast. And that's why I think
- 32:35Speaker 3: you may have some opportunity for endgame betting. Can they
- 32:38Speaker 3: run the football? They run the football for one hundred
- 32:41Speaker 3: and ninety three yards like they did against Old Miss,
- 32:44Speaker 3: and Miami's gonna win this football game. I right, bottom line,
- 32:48Speaker 3: I agree with you.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Here and so here here's the thing. If you're betting
- 32:51Speaker 2: this game and you're gonna take Miami, I would tell
- 32:54Speaker 2: you go ahead. There's I've seen one nine out there.
- 32:57Speaker 2: I don't know if it's still out there or not,
- 32:58Speaker 2: but there's eight.
- 33:00Speaker 1: If you want eight and a half, you're gonna need
- 33:02Speaker 1: to bet it now because the line is not gonna
- 33:04Speaker 1: get any higher than this. There's not gonna money's there. Yeah,
- 33:08Speaker 1: And so what you're gonna see on Monday.
- 33:10Speaker 3: Is Miami Mark Vegas is trying to get you to
- 33:13Speaker 3: take Indiana.
- 33:15Speaker 1: I mean, so with the amount of handle that they've
- 33:18Speaker 1: got on Indiana here, it's not gonna get any higher.
- 33:21Speaker 2: In my opinion, there's no way it's gonna get to
- 33:23Speaker 2: a ten.
- 33:23Speaker 1: Somebody asked me about that. I don't think it'll get there.
- 33:26Speaker 1: So if you're gonna bet Miami. I would tell you
- 33:27Speaker 1: to take Miami eight and a half now because on Monday,
- 33:30Speaker 1: Miami money is coming. Trust me, the sharp money will
- 33:33Speaker 1: come in on Miami on Monday, because there's that's just
- 33:36Speaker 1: how it works. And so I think if you want
- 33:38Speaker 1: an eight and a half, go get it today because
- 33:41Speaker 1: on Monday, you could see it.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Come down to seven and a half. Wouldn't be surprised
- 33:43Speaker 2: to be I'm going with the Canes, baby, give me
- 33:47Speaker 2: my Canes plus eight and a half. Give me by
- 33:51Speaker 2: you the swagger wagon to win this thing.
- 33:53Speaker 1: It's gonna be free cocaine for everyone in Mario.
- 33:59Speaker 3: A nationalchampionship winning coach is enough to make anybody's head
- 34:05Speaker 3: explode that follows this game. But Ojeron, what a natty eddie.
- 34:10Speaker 3: Oh that's right. And if he can do it, Christal
- 34:13Speaker 3: bal can for sure do it. There's no doubt about it.
- 34:16Speaker 3: You know they is. And I mean this that Indiana
- 34:22Speaker 3: has got. They have so much positive going well, and
- 34:29Speaker 3: you just everybody's getting swept up in it except the Hurricanes.
- 34:34Speaker 3: And I guarantee you they feel slighted, they feel pissed.
- 34:37Speaker 3: And let me tell you something. The Miami Hurricanes have
- 34:40Speaker 3: always played well for the last forty years of my life,
- 34:45Speaker 3: going back to nineteen eighty three, when they feel slighted.
- 34:49Speaker 3: That's when Miami really came on the scene, when they
- 34:51Speaker 3: beat Nebraska, and whenever they feel and they will create
- 34:56Speaker 3: a slight and just play ninety to nothing. And I
- 35:02Speaker 3: do think you're gonna get a great shot from disciplined
- 35:05Speaker 3: versus undisciplined. If they're disciplined enough in this football game
- 35:09Speaker 3: to not get penalties and not make the stupid play,
- 35:13Speaker 3: they got a real chance to win this ball game
- 35:15Speaker 3: and that and that sounds crazy. I don't think they're
- 35:18Speaker 3: gonna do it. I've seen them do it too many times,
- 35:21Speaker 3: and I think that probably means Indiana is gonna go.
- 35:24Speaker 3: My biggest fear is that everybody's betting on Indiana and
- 35:29Speaker 3: just there's not that many obvious things in gambling.
- 35:35Speaker 2: Because I mean, people are betting this game like they
- 35:37Speaker 2: know the outcome.
- 35:38Speaker 3: Oh, like they went forward in time. I mean, I
- 35:41Speaker 3: mean that it is true.
- 35:42Speaker 2: It is true.
- 35:43Speaker 3: It's like, oh, we went forward in time and saw
- 35:45Speaker 3: that they're gonna win by fourteen, So we're gonna we're
- 35:48Speaker 3: gonna bet this. I mean it's the truth.
- 35:51Speaker 1: And listening to people tell me, oh, you know what's
- 35:53Speaker 1: gonna happen, idiot is gonna body below. They're just gonna
- 35:55Speaker 1: stretch it out. That's what they've done everybody. I'm like, bitch,
- 35:57Speaker 1: you haven't watched Indiana play football.
- 35:59Speaker 2: You don't know that. It's like, you don't have any
- 36:02Speaker 2: idea what you're talking about.
- 36:04Speaker 1: You he watched the team. You don't even have the
- 36:06Speaker 1: Big ten network. What the hell are you talking about?
- 36:08Speaker 3: Look, I said this. I can't get off the podcast
- 36:12Speaker 3: without referencing this. I saw the picture of Carson Back
- 36:17Speaker 3: beside a picture of Tom Petty, and I can't unsee it.
- 36:22Speaker 3: He is Tom Petty's kid. I mean, it's like it's
- 36:25Speaker 3: his long lost kid. They look I've always thought, man,
- 36:28Speaker 3: he looks stoned. Where did that come from? Tom Petty?
- 36:31Speaker 3: He's Tom Petty. So we got to find out if
- 36:34Speaker 3: what back down is gonna win this can win this
- 36:36Speaker 3: ball game, that's the deal. But I'm gonna tell you
- 36:38Speaker 3: if it gets on, if they can't run the football,
- 36:41Speaker 3: ain't they get trut Because I don't think Carson Back's
- 36:45Speaker 3: good enough to win this game on his own.
- 36:48Speaker 1: I agree with you know, I'm gonna throw you one
- 36:50Speaker 1: more nugget in here. Oh, I like the caves with
- 36:53Speaker 1: Kirk Signetti played for the National Championship when he coached
- 36:56Speaker 1: the JMU and they lost that game to North Dakota State.
- 37:00Speaker 1: They were winning that game, you remember, North Kota State
- 37:03Speaker 1: had Trey Lance and Lance went bananas in the second
- 37:06Speaker 1: half of that game. Ended up going pro because of
- 37:09Speaker 1: that game. Basically, everybody's so on Cup. The defensive coordinator
- 37:12Speaker 1: on that JFU staff is the defensive coordinator at the
- 37:15Speaker 1: University of Miami, and so if there's any I mean
- 37:19Speaker 1: Corn Felderman's, but he sat underneath Signetti, learned from him,
- 37:24Speaker 1: and so I just having him as your defensive coordinator.
- 37:28Speaker 2: With the dogs that.
- 37:29Speaker 1: This team has, I wish they were healthy, but with
- 37:32Speaker 1: the dogs that this team has on that defense, I
- 37:34Speaker 1: just kind of wonder if that gives Miami just a
- 37:37Speaker 1: little bit of an edge coming into this one.
- 37:40Speaker 2: And so I'm gonna roll with the Canes.
- 37:42Speaker 1: Gimme Kaynes plus eight and a half, give me Mark
- 37:44Speaker 1: Fletcher rushing total over first half under those are my
- 37:48Speaker 1: three tickets that I've got. I think we're gonna make
- 37:51Speaker 1: some money. Scottie, I'm gonna be out there on my
- 37:53Speaker 1: island with my U flag waving.
- 37:55Speaker 2: That's so bitch as high as I can. But we're gonna.
- 37:58Speaker 3: Wait, I gotta know, are you gonna lay off some
- 38:01Speaker 3: of the ticket or you just gonna let it ride?
- 38:03Speaker 3: Because Mark, for those of you don't know, Mark has
- 38:05Speaker 3: a We talked about this before before they announced the
- 38:09Speaker 3: playoff field. He calls me in I'm in the airport
- 38:12Speaker 3: and says, look, is this a stupid bet? I think,
- 38:15Speaker 3: wanting me to try to talk him out to it.
- 38:16Speaker 3: I was like, no, I don't think that's a stupid bet.
- 38:18Speaker 3: Their ass is gonna make the playoff. They're not getting
- 38:21Speaker 3: left out. That's too big of a Pandora's box. You
- 38:24Speaker 3: can't put somebody in over them with the same record
- 38:26Speaker 3: that they beat. It's too big of a Pandora's box.
- 38:29Speaker 3: So he places a bet on Miami to win the
- 38:31Speaker 3: Natty And what's this? What? What what do you win
- 38:34Speaker 3: if they win it? And at fifteen.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Grand or almost twenty grand?
- 38:38Speaker 3: Almost twenty grand so and I'm one hundred and eighty
- 38:40Speaker 3: dollars into it. So for people that don't know, this
- 38:42Speaker 3: is a pretty big game for Mark. So what are
- 38:45Speaker 3: we what are we doing? Have you decided what you're
- 38:47Speaker 3: laying off yet?
- 38:48Speaker 2: I'm I'm not quite there.
- 38:50Speaker 1: I also have a ticket on Indiana that I took
- 38:53Speaker 1: midway through the season that pays out at ten to one.
- 38:55Speaker 3: So I've locked in you a regardless.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm gonna get paid either way on this thing.
- 39:00Speaker 2: So what I think I'm gonna do?
- 39:01Speaker 1: And I was deeply hoping Oregon would win because the
- 39:04Speaker 1: line was going to be a projected three in that one.
- 39:07Speaker 1: This one's gone bananas, and so I think I am
- 39:10Speaker 1: gonna lay off. I don't know if I'm gonna lay
- 39:12Speaker 1: off a full ten grand and lock in at least
- 39:14Speaker 1: a four thousand or five thousand dollars profit for India
- 39:17Speaker 1: and a seven thousand dollars profit any but sunder eight
- 39:20Speaker 1: thousand or for any of it.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Probably something like that.
- 39:22Speaker 1: I'm probably gonna lay off at least I'm gonna lay
- 39:24Speaker 1: off probably a couple thousand dollars, maybe five five grand.
- 39:28Speaker 2: I'll lay off on Indiana and lock in a.
- 39:30Speaker 1: Twenty five hundred dollars win there or a twelve outter
- 39:33Speaker 1: fifteen thousand dollars win if by ambuens it.
- 39:35Speaker 3: So for those for those listening at home. This is
- 39:38Speaker 3: called a high class problem when you get in the game.
- 39:41Speaker 3: But it's why at them. It's why you got futures,
- 39:44Speaker 3: because sometimes you get it right and you get a
- 39:47Speaker 3: chance to you get a chance to really really get paid.
- 39:50Speaker 3: Sometimes you're wrong and you lose one hundred bucks. But
- 39:52Speaker 3: it is what it is. It's why you take futures.
- 39:55Speaker 3: And uh, congrats buddy, I'm happy for you. We got
- 39:58Speaker 3: one other friend that took the same thing and he
- 40:00Speaker 3: he's got a little bit bigger ticket. He's got huge
- 40:02Speaker 3: money out there, So congratulations to both of you, guys.
- 40:07Speaker 3: Excited for you. I'll be watching. I think it would
- 40:11Speaker 3: be awesome if Indiana wins, but I think it's equally
- 40:16Speaker 3: awesome if the U is fully back. And so it
- 40:20Speaker 3: is really college football is better when Miami's good. When
- 40:23Speaker 3: a swagger wagon is swagger wagon, and we've got ray
- 40:27Speaker 3: Lewis at coin flips and Michael Urban put the belt
- 40:31Speaker 3: to ass after games, it is just better. It's better,
- 40:35Speaker 3: and you can't say you can't say it any different.
- 40:39Speaker 3: It's super cool. So I think it is going to
- 40:42Speaker 3: be littered with ex Miami players on the side of Oh,
- 40:47Speaker 3: it is gonna be Musty TV on Monday night, huge deal.
- 40:53Speaker 3: Excited for this game and can't wait to see Signetti
- 40:57Speaker 3: wins this and I'm gonna be fascinated to see does
- 41:02Speaker 3: he take a pro job.
- 41:04Speaker 2: That's a good point, you know, I had about that,
- 41:08Speaker 2: because he will have. He moved himself up, and you
- 41:10Speaker 2: know which.
- 41:12Speaker 3: I'm gonna digress just se because we're about to leave,
- 41:14Speaker 3: But I'm gonna tell you something Notre Dame has got
- 41:19Speaker 3: and it may not last forever, but Marcus Freeman just
- 41:23Speaker 3: turned down the New York Giants and I think the
- 41:25Speaker 3: Pittsburgh Steelers too. And I see turning down the Giants
- 41:29Speaker 3: job candidly because they've been through a million coaches. Not
- 41:32Speaker 3: the Steelers, baby, they've had three in my lifetime. And
- 41:37Speaker 3: that's a pretty damn good job to get. And to
- 41:41Speaker 3: turn that job down, says he wants to be the
- 41:43Speaker 3: coach at Notre Dame, and he basically laid out for
- 41:46Speaker 3: them in that same press conference. We got, guys, we
- 41:49Speaker 3: got to get in school like you want him to stay,
- 41:52Speaker 3: you want to really be relevant. You got the dude
- 41:54Speaker 3: that's gonna get you there. You better get his transfers
- 41:57Speaker 3: in school. Brother, or guess what, he's gonna leave and
- 42:00Speaker 3: take a pro job next year. Yeah, I agree, or
- 42:03Speaker 3: take it. That's gonna get them in. So anyway, college football, baby,
- 42:07Speaker 3: it's great. There's some great storylines. We're on the Natty.
- 42:10Speaker 3: We got Marcus Freeman, we got great storylines. Can't wait
- 42:14Speaker 3: wait for the ball game and Kate wait again for
- 42:17Speaker 3: next year. Baby. The clock is almost running for twenty
- 42:20Speaker 3: twenty six.
- 42:21Speaker 1: Oh that being said, folks, we love you, everybody. Have
- 42:24Speaker 1: a great weekend. Enjoy the playoffs Saturday and Sunday. Enjoy
- 42:27Speaker 1: you Sir Martin Luther King Day on Monday. Hopefully you
- 42:29Speaker 1: can take a little time off lock Down. Get you
- 42:33Speaker 1: ready to watch some Natty. We appreciate all the feedback,
- 42:35Speaker 1: all the tweets, love y'all, Thank you so much.
- 42:38Speaker 2: And that being said, Scotty, let's go for the U, baby,
- 42:42Speaker 2: Let's go for the U. Talk to y'all soon,
