- 0:25Speaker 1: Hi, and welcome back to Pinky Boo Hauntings. I'll be
- 0:28Speaker 1: your witchy host Shy, and I'll be your guide to
- 0:31Speaker 1: all things paranormal, weird and spooky. Guys, I'm not gonna lie.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Work took a lot out of me this weekend. They
- 0:40Speaker 1: really believe we can handle far more orders than humanly
- 0:44Speaker 1: possible for our crew. So my brain is shot and
- 0:48Speaker 1: I don't know how to open this episode. So how
- 0:52Speaker 1: about we get right into it, huh. Our first story
- 0:56Speaker 1: is called The White Witch. In the early eighties, I
- 1:02Speaker 1: lived in Okinawa, Japan. My dad thought that seeing the
- 1:06Speaker 1: world would be an adventure that would help my brother
- 1:09Speaker 1: and I become better men, and I have to say
- 1:12Speaker 1: I think he was right. I mean, yeah, getting to
- 1:15Speaker 1: experience more of the world in other cultures will help
- 1:19Speaker 1: broaden your overall view of things, which of course will
- 1:23Speaker 1: help you be a better person, usually because you will
- 1:27Speaker 1: start to see things from a different perspective, and surprisingly,
- 1:32Speaker 1: your empathy for others will grow with it. I believe
- 1:36Speaker 1: everyone should broaden their worldview. Doesn't mean you have to
- 1:40Speaker 1: travel the world, of course, most of us can afford that,
- 1:45Speaker 1: but the world would probably be a better place if
- 1:48Speaker 1: we all actually try to learn about each other's cultures
- 1:51Speaker 1: from the people themselves. Anyways, Sorry, that's enough of my
- 1:56Speaker 1: little tangent. Let's get back to the story. Being in
- 2:00Speaker 1: the military showed me cultures many would never get to experience,
- 2:05Speaker 1: and I am thankful for every experience that this life
- 2:08Speaker 1: gave me, even the scary ones. Ooh, is the white
- 2:14Speaker 1: witch going to be one of the scary ones? Cause
- 2:16Speaker 1: I figured this was going to be a good story,
- 2:19Speaker 1: since white witches are usually considered good, at least from
- 2:22Speaker 1: an outsider's perspective. I think that's how they'd see it.
- 2:26Speaker 1: While we lived in Japan, my father wanted us to
- 2:30Speaker 1: have a fully immersive experience, so he chose to move
- 2:34Speaker 1: us all into a small Japanese neighborhood off base. Can
- 2:39Speaker 1: I just say how jealous I am that you got
- 2:42Speaker 1: to not only visit Japan, but live there. I've always
- 2:46Speaker 1: felt this pool towards Japan as far back as I
- 2:49Speaker 1: can remember. I've always wanted to visit, and I don't
- 2:55Speaker 1: know why. I mean, I do know, but as a
- 2:59Speaker 1: tiny child, I don't know why I felt called to
- 3:02Speaker 1: go there. If I could ever get over my fear
- 3:05Speaker 1: of flying, who knows maybe I'll visit one day. We
- 3:10Speaker 1: lived in a little house at the top of an
- 3:13Speaker 1: enormous hill in a cul de sac that overlooked high kid,
- 3:17Speaker 1: you not part of a huge zoo and on one
- 3:21Speaker 1: side a fairly large cemetery. Our particular house was set
- 3:26Speaker 1: far above the monkey habitats. About a mile downhill. Between
- 3:32Speaker 1: us and those habitats was nothing but thick Indiana Jones
- 3:36Speaker 1: style jungle jungle. The neighborhood kids and I would tromp
- 3:42Speaker 1: through endlessly, ignoring the local warnings about poisonous snakes in
- 3:47Speaker 1: ancient untripped minds from World War Two. Wow, that sounds
- 3:52Speaker 1: like the perfect place for kids to play. What could
- 3:55Speaker 1: ever go wrong? We were the only mayor family living
- 4:01Speaker 1: in this cul de sac, completely surrounded by Japanese families,
- 4:06Speaker 1: and it was amazing. The kids loved us, and although
- 4:11Speaker 1: we couldn't communicate through language very well, we understood each
- 4:16Speaker 1: other perfectly well most of the time, I was just
- 4:21Speaker 1: wondering how good your Japanese might have been, But I'm
- 4:25Speaker 1: not surprised that you all were able to understand each
- 4:28Speaker 1: other without fully speaking each other's language. Kids will always
- 4:34Speaker 1: find a way to play language barrier be damned. There
- 4:38Speaker 1: are a lot of adults that could really learn from
- 4:41Speaker 1: kids in this regard. Opposite us was an older couple
- 4:46Speaker 1: with a lush garden surrounding their property. The older woman
- 4:50Speaker 1: wanted us to call her Mama's son, and she had
- 4:54Speaker 1: us helping in the garden whenever she could coax us
- 4:57Speaker 1: over with green tea and chocolate banana cookies. We loved her.
- 5:02Speaker 1: She was so welcoming and generous, as was everyone else. Actually,
- 5:08Speaker 1: we lived in a wonderful neighborhood. The only drawback to
- 5:12Speaker 1: Mamasan's house, however, was that she directly overlooked the cemetery.
- 5:19Speaker 1: In that cemetery was unlike any cemetery I had ever
- 5:24Speaker 1: seen before. I thought you were going to say that
- 5:29Speaker 1: the only problem was that Mama Son was the witch
- 5:32Speaker 1: that scared you. So I'm happy that's not true. She
- 5:35Speaker 1: sounds so nice. I didn't want this to be a
- 5:39Speaker 1: plot twist. Because Okinawa is an island, burials don't happen
- 5:46Speaker 1: very often. Instead, above ground crebes are built, many of
- 5:55Speaker 1: them built into the sides of the hills that make
- 5:58Speaker 1: up the island. The creps are huge, made of huge
- 6:03Speaker 1: arcs of polished stone set over a large square of
- 6:07Speaker 1: that stone, which has a square insert cut into the
- 6:10Speaker 1: middle of it for the coffin to be placed inside.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Once inside, the square is in set with another piece
- 6:18Speaker 1: of polished stone just inside, leaving a kind of shelf
- 6:23Speaker 1: on the outside, so offerings could be made to the
- 6:25Speaker 1: lost loved ones. Yin, food, flowers, incense are some of
- 6:31Speaker 1: the offerings given below. Mamisan's house was a valley that
- 6:37Speaker 1: swooped back up into another hill opposite her house. That
- 6:43Speaker 1: valley and both hills were covered with these crebs and
- 6:47Speaker 1: spider webbing up and down through the creps where various
- 6:50Speaker 1: step stone paths that were old and badly maintained. It
- 6:55Speaker 1: was quite a sight. I almost wish there was a
- 7:00Speaker 1: picture of this, cause I kind of want to see
- 7:03Speaker 1: what it looked like from your view. At least, it
- 7:07Speaker 1: sounds like an insane site for sure. One evening, Mama
- 7:16Speaker 1: Son asked me to come visit her alone. She had
- 7:21Speaker 1: something to show me, but it was only for me
- 7:24Speaker 1: as the older brother. Oh shit was Mamason the White Witch.
- 7:29Speaker 1: After all. Intrigued and a bit proud, I agreed. She
- 7:36Speaker 1: took me to the back of her garden and sat
- 7:38Speaker 1: me on a thick wooden bench that was carved with
- 7:42Speaker 1: the scene of a fisherman and men with swords, and
- 7:45Speaker 1: told me she had a story to tell. Mama Son
- 7:50Speaker 1: then disappeared for a few minutes and soon returned with
- 7:53Speaker 1: a tray that held hot green tea in sweet rice cakes.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Sitting next to me, she said, and commented on the
- 8:01Speaker 1: colors of the evening sky as the sun began to lower,
- 8:07Speaker 1: Mama Son said she had seen me, my brother and
- 8:11Speaker 1: some other kids daring each other to follow the stairway
- 8:14Speaker 1: path down into the cemetery. You have to understand, this
- 8:19Speaker 1: path from our little home area down to the cemetery
- 8:23Speaker 1: consisted of hundreds of steps, many broken, are cracking in
- 8:29Speaker 1: and out of bushes, and at a steep incline. It
- 8:34Speaker 1: would be dangerous for anyone. But the real test was
- 8:38Speaker 1: seeing how long we could take walking through the crips
- 8:41Speaker 1: at night. Mama Son wanted to explain why this was
- 8:46Speaker 1: a bad IDEA. Oh, okay, Mamasan is just doing her
- 8:53Speaker 1: grandmother duties for the kids and keeping them safe. Man
- 9:00Speaker 1: years ago, during the war, Americans were thought to be devils,
- 9:06Speaker 1: monsters that would murder innocent civilians for no reason other
- 9:10Speaker 1: than to kill. I mean, I don't blame them for
- 9:15Speaker 1: thinking that, especially with how things are right now. We
- 9:20Speaker 1: kinda believe that ourselves. That fear was the product of
- 9:26Speaker 1: wartime propaganda used to encourage young men to military service
- 9:31Speaker 1: and farmers to fight alongside them. But many didn't. Many ran,
- 9:38Speaker 1: and with nowhere to go, nowhere to hide, hundreds of
- 9:43Speaker 1: Japanese citizens hurled themselves off of the cliff sides rather
- 9:47Speaker 1: than to face torture at the hands of their perceived enemy.
- 9:52Speaker 1: I was terrified at hearing this. I don't blame you.
- 9:57Speaker 1: I don't know how old you were in this story,
- 10:00Speaker 1: but that's kind of a lot to unload on a child.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I had no idea this had happened. I was mortified
- 10:09Speaker 1: and hit with such sadness. I started to cry. The
- 10:14Speaker 1: sun was setting and the sky went from pink and
- 10:17Speaker 1: blue to a deep orange and red. Mama Son reached
- 10:22Speaker 1: out and held my hand, telling me not to worry.
- 10:27Speaker 1: This was in the past, in the past, it's something
- 10:30Speaker 1: we must always remember so we never go back. She
- 10:34Speaker 1: went on with her story. Mamasan is a smart lady,
- 10:39Speaker 1: a le like her. One young lady had followed through
- 10:45Speaker 1: with the sacrifice with her two children, but she survived
- 10:49Speaker 1: the fall. She was in a coma for months. When
- 10:53Speaker 1: she did regain consciousness, she was horrified to realize she
- 10:58Speaker 1: was not with her children. They had been buried somewhere
- 11:03Speaker 1: in the cemetery below, in an unmarked crep that held
- 11:08Speaker 1: many others. The woman would spend days and nights searching
- 11:12Speaker 1: the cemetery, crying in pain, the torment of her loss unbearable,
- 11:19Speaker 1: until the day she threw herself into the ocean to
- 11:22Speaker 1: hopefully be reunited with her lost family. They say she
- 11:27Speaker 1: never found her children. Her act of suicide doomed her depurgatory.
- 11:34Speaker 1: She would remain tormented for eternity. The sun had disappeared,
- 11:40Speaker 1: the cemetery drawn in an inky blackness, the main path
- 11:46Speaker 1: dotted with dim broken lights, feebly illuminating small areas. Mamisan continued,
- 11:55Speaker 1: She still wonders the cemetery, she said, looking for her kids.
- 12:00Speaker 1: You can hear her crying, and then she pointed down.
- 12:07Speaker 1: I didn't want to, but I did. I looked in
- 12:11Speaker 1: the back of the cemetery. In the darkness. There was
- 12:16Speaker 1: a white figure, at first, a bright white shimmer, moving slowly,
- 12:23Speaker 1: kind of shaking. It moved from side to side like
- 12:27Speaker 1: it was moving along the crip, and you could actually
- 12:31Speaker 1: hear the crying softly at first, but then low moans
- 12:37Speaker 1: and whimpers a pane as it got closer. I was terrified.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I wanted to run, but Mamma Son held my hand
- 12:47Speaker 1: and whispered that she wouldn't come up here. We were
- 12:51Speaker 1: too far. But that is why we shouldn't go down
- 12:55Speaker 1: there after dark, she said, Minnie don't know her story
- 13:00Speaker 1: and call her the white Witch, which angers her. It's
- 13:04Speaker 1: best to stay away, it's best to pray for her.
- 13:08Speaker 1: Mama Son said she comes out to see her often,
- 13:12Speaker 1: hoping that one day she will find her salvation. Needless
- 13:18Speaker 1: to say, I never went down to that cemetery, not once,
- 13:23Speaker 1: and I never sat back there with Mama Son again either.
- 13:27Speaker 1: That was enough for me. I did, however, visit Suicide Hill.
- 13:33Speaker 1: It's called Peace Prayer Park now out of respect. I
- 13:38Speaker 1: cried the whole time we were there. I prayed for
- 13:41Speaker 1: all of the souls and for forgiveness. So many Japanese
- 13:45Speaker 1: citizens spoke to us, welcoming us, telling us stories, sharing
- 13:50Speaker 1: with us. I didn't feel worthy, and my love for
- 13:54Speaker 1: this country and its people was overwhelming, I'll never forget
- 13:59Speaker 1: my time there. I'd like to go back to see
- 14:02Speaker 1: if she's still there wondering the graves looking for her children. Okay,
- 14:12Speaker 1: so the White Witch wasn't actually a witch, but a
- 14:15Speaker 1: possible law spirit looking for her children. I do think
- 14:21Speaker 1: it is really sweet that Mama Son was so caring
- 14:24Speaker 1: for that spirit. She seems to understand that the lady
- 14:29Speaker 1: is sad for all the things that she had went
- 14:32Speaker 1: through and done, and I just love that she seems
- 14:36Speaker 1: to be almost looking out for the spirit to keep
- 14:39Speaker 1: people from disturbing her in her search. I do hope
- 14:43Speaker 1: she was reunited with her children in the afterlife and
- 14:47Speaker 1: has found peace. I'm also not surprised you so clearly
- 14:53Speaker 1: saw a ghost in Japan, of all places. I don't
- 14:57Speaker 1: know what it is about it, but Japan seems to
- 14:59Speaker 1: be a heavily charged place for the paranormal. All right,
- 15:04Speaker 1: let's move on to our last story for today. By
- 15:07Speaker 1: the title, I hope it's a crazy one, it's called
- 15:12Speaker 1: I'm an Undertaker, and something happened. Something happened, and I've
- 15:18Speaker 1: always been skeptical until today. I was about to say,
- 15:24Speaker 1: not another person that claims to be a skeptic while
- 15:28Speaker 1: telling us a paranormal story that can't be explained away.
- 15:34Speaker 1: I am an undertaker, and I have been for the
- 15:37Speaker 1: past eight years. I've always been skeptical when it comes
- 15:41Speaker 1: to the afterlife, especially the paranormal. But today something happened
- 15:48Speaker 1: that I cannot explain. I was cleaning unclaimed ashes out
- 15:52Speaker 1: of the funeral home where I work. We are moving
- 15:56Speaker 1: out of the old Victorian building we operate out of
- 16:00Speaker 1: into a new funeral home. Why is it always a
- 16:04Speaker 1: Victorian building? I don't really know how those buildings were built,
- 16:09Speaker 1: but is there something about them that seems to make
- 16:12Speaker 1: them a magnet for the paranormal? Does anyone have an
- 16:16Speaker 1: answer to this? For the past week, we have been
- 16:20Speaker 1: making a slow transition, moving out of our current home
- 16:23Speaker 1: into our new one. In our basement, we have uncleaned
- 16:27Speaker 1: ashes going as far back as the nineteen seventies. I
- 16:32Speaker 1: just had my headphones in putting the boxes into bags
- 16:36Speaker 1: so we could send them to the local crematorium for
- 16:39Speaker 1: them to be scattered. I must have put away hundreds
- 16:44Speaker 1: of boxes of ashes without even thinking about it. I
- 16:48Speaker 1: was just listening to a podcast. Ooh, you know what
- 16:51Speaker 1: now that you believe in the paranormal. You should listen
- 16:54Speaker 1: to ours. We could add another little witch to the coven. Sorry,
- 17:00Speaker 1: I know the joke was bad, but can you blame
- 17:02Speaker 1: me for making it? It's so easy. It was like,
- 17:07Speaker 1: right there, what did you want for me? Anyways, they
- 17:12Speaker 1: were just getting another task checked off their to do
- 17:14Speaker 1: list while not listening to our podcast. That's not nice.
- 17:20Speaker 1: All right, Enough of my bad jokes. And I was
- 17:24Speaker 1: putting one box into a bag and felt my body
- 17:27Speaker 1: and my brain freeze with the word no. But I
- 17:32Speaker 1: didn't hear anything. It's hard to explain what I felt. Oh,
- 17:38Speaker 1: I know exactly what you felt, but let's see how
- 17:42Speaker 1: they explain it. I want to know if it actually
- 17:46Speaker 1: is what I'm thinking. The best I can explain it
- 17:51Speaker 1: is that my own free will had gone and I
- 17:55Speaker 1: was ordered to stop what I was doing. I stopped
- 17:59Speaker 1: immediately and put the box of ashes in my hand
- 18:02Speaker 1: onto the table. That's because something is there and it
- 18:09Speaker 1: wants to get your attention. Maybe it wants to stop
- 18:13Speaker 1: you for some reason. I am happy you listen, even
- 18:19Speaker 1: if it was kind of out of your control. On
- 18:23Speaker 1: closer inspection, there were two boxes I was gonna put
- 18:27Speaker 1: in two separate bags, one small box and one normal
- 18:31Speaker 1: sized box. Let's just say for privacy reasons, one box
- 18:36Speaker 1: was labeled Handle Williams. On top of Handle Williams Ashes,
- 18:41Speaker 1: there was a box labeled Baby Williams. I presume they
- 18:46Speaker 1: are mother and baby who I was about to separate
- 18:49Speaker 1: into two separate bags, which I find quite spooky because
- 18:54Speaker 1: I didn't read the labels before. Oh my god, she
- 19:00Speaker 1: didn't want to be separated from her baby. That's why
- 19:03Speaker 1: she wanted so desperately to stop you and get you
- 19:06Speaker 1: to pay attention. I am happy you corrected that mistake
- 19:11Speaker 1: once you notice what you were about to do. I
- 19:16Speaker 1: was doing a mundane task as fast as I could
- 19:20Speaker 1: with my existing duties and clearing the premises. I was
- 19:25Speaker 1: just trying to get things done as fast as possible
- 19:29Speaker 1: and was not paying attention to the names. I just
- 19:34Speaker 1: needed to get this done. So yeah, I can't explain this.
- 19:38Speaker 1: For the life of me, I cannot come up with
- 19:40Speaker 1: an explanation for this. I'm not scared, nor am I
- 19:44Speaker 1: excited about what I felt. I just feel confused about
- 19:48Speaker 1: the whole situation. The only explanation there really is for
- 19:53Speaker 1: this is the spirit stopped you from separating her from
- 19:56Speaker 1: her baby. I've had this happen many times, where a
- 20:02Speaker 1: spirit will make me feel frozen and like I can't
- 20:05Speaker 1: move my body, as well as hearing a voice in
- 20:09Speaker 1: my head give me the information I need in that moment.
- 20:12Speaker 1: It is a weird feeling, for sure. Have any of
- 20:16Speaker 1: you ever felt this before? See if you have, send
- 20:20Speaker 1: me an email with your story, or if you have
- 20:24Speaker 1: any paranormal stories you'd like me to read, send it
- 20:27Speaker 1: to Pinky Boo Hauntings at gmail. I'd love to hear
- 20:30Speaker 1: from you guys. Oh in The email will also be
- 20:34Speaker 1: in the show notes in the description below, And if
- 20:38Speaker 1: you're enjoying the podcast, please consider rating and reviewing wherever
- 20:42Speaker 1: you're listening to this, as well as like and subscribe
- 20:46Speaker 1: if you're on YouTube. You can also help grow our
- 20:50Speaker 1: little coven by sharing the podcast with others that are
- 20:53Speaker 1: into the paranormal, or hell, send it to someone that
- 20:57Speaker 1: doesn't believe so we can make a believer out of them.
- 21:02Speaker 1: But for now, the covenant is adjourned. See you next
- 21:06Speaker 1: time by
