- 0:00SPEAKER_02: Anybody else wonder if we were gonna make it to Friday this week?
- 0:02SPEAKER_02: Oh gosh, yes.
- 0:03SPEAKER_01: We did, we got here.
- 0:05SPEAKER_01: I was just I was a little curious how it was gonna be from going to a concert last night into today.
- 0:11SPEAKER_02: Oh god, I forgot all about the concert and I'll tell you why in a minute.
- 0:14SPEAKER_02: No, tell me no tell me why now.
- 0:16SPEAKER_02: Uh well I pulled in Allie Payne last night and I went to dinner in Corning.
- 0:20SPEAKER_02: Oh, awesome.
- 0:21SPEAKER_02: Where'd you go?
- 0:22SPEAKER_02: Uh we were okay.
- 0:23SPEAKER_02: Uh my friend Scott and his wife were in town.
- 0:26SPEAKER_02: Every year they come to that uh very difficult for me to understand gaming fest.
- 0:32SPEAKER_02: This is like all the fantasy games, you know, things that you know, like games like Fizbin, where you know, you you play a game.
- 0:39SPEAKER_02: He told me before we went to dinner, he goes, I just wrapped up a three and a half hour gaming session with one thing.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: I'm like, oh my god.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: And I hate playing Monopoly because it lasts too long.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: Wow.
- 0:50SPEAKER_02: But these are like all these, like, you know, fantasy, you're building a universe, you know, on with cards.
- 0:56SPEAKER_02: I'll never understand.
- 0:57SPEAKER_02: Like, you know, look, I I'm gonna freely admit this.
- 1:00SPEAKER_02: Uno's as high as I go when it comes to I may I can occasionally play a little poker, but uh Uno's about the highest level I can get to, you know.
- 1:08SPEAKER_02: I'm I prefer sorry, that's even easier.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: The reason I don't like those games is because you are building your own world, and it appears to me that there's really no set rules.
- 1:19SPEAKER_01: Like I like to have a set rule.
- 1:21SPEAKER_01: It feels like that.
- 1:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah, like if you draw this or if you roll this, this will happen.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: So when because at one point, this is years ago, you know the gaming place up the street.
- 1:32SPEAKER_01: So we're on the miracle mile.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: So it's um gosh, I can't remember the name.
- 1:35SPEAKER_01: It's about right by Edison School.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: Well, anyway, we did a live broadcast there years ago, and they're trying to explain everything to me.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: It's right over my head.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: I'm like, so you're telling me I have a dragon kingdom, but someone took my castle.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: What?
- 1:50SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and and I just felt like there wasn't it's it's just the rules are too fluid, and I can't take that.
- 1:57SPEAKER_02: No, it it was uh so I but any rate, we what we do is is instead of me trying to go up to because they do this now at oh god.
- 2:05SPEAKER_02: Juanita.
- 2:06SPEAKER_02: No, it's um Lamoca.
- 2:08SPEAKER_02: No, it's the it's where the YMCA camp is.
- 2:10SPEAKER_02: Why am I drawing a blank?
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: It's in Campbell.
- 2:12SPEAKER_02: Um close to bird's eye?
- 2:15SPEAKER_02: No, you know, the main the the oh my god.
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: Watson homestead?
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 2:19SPEAKER_02: Watson Homestead.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's not that far.
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: No, it's not.
- 2:21SPEAKER_02: So we've decided the past couple years, because I can't, I just I struggle with the gaming part.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: So we're like Oh, yeah, you don't want to drive all the way out there.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: No.
- 2:29SPEAKER_02: Uh for so we're like, well, we'll go to dinner and courting.
- 2:31SPEAKER_02: So we did last night.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: I mean, I got home.
- 2:33SPEAKER_02: It was like 8 30, so that wasn't that late.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: No.
- 2:36SPEAKER_02: But it and you know, it's always good to see them.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: There they live in Buffalo.
- 2:39SPEAKER_02: I don't get to see them.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: Well, once a year I get to see him, guaranteed.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 2:43SPEAKER_02: So that was nice.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: What did Tiffany think of them?
- 2:46SPEAKER_02: Uh she actually had to work, so it just sort of worked out the way that it was.
- 2:50SPEAKER_02: And um, I I think she okay, so there's there's one thing.
- 2:54SPEAKER_02: So you know how every friend you have in a friend group, like all the think of all the friends you do you have, and you have different personalities.
- 3:01SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 3:02SPEAKER_02: And there was a conversation that took place last night, which I don't need to get into, but it dealt with a very short version.
- 3:08SPEAKER_02: It dealt with one of their kids who their kids, their youngest kid's 17.
- 3:12SPEAKER_02: So most of their kids, you know, their other two kids are in college and all that.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: And it dealt with this one 17-year-old and her friend who has attached herself very closely to Scott's wife.
- 3:22SPEAKER_02: And almost to the level, well, the the girl's probably not getting her needs filled at home, so she's looking for another parental figure.
- 3:30SPEAKER_02: Yes, oh, that's very sweet.
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: But yeah, but it's kind of crossed into a little bit of a I almost want to use the term stocky mode, you know, where it's like they're they're real connected.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: So, and and and and even Renee, Scott's wife, was like, she's a wonderful girl.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: I don't want to cut her off, but sometimes you gotta be like, I need my time.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: So this was like one of the stories that was being told last night.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: And it was uh Scott is one of these people, and you if you like this, you like someone you like Scott.
- 3:59SPEAKER_02: He's brutally direct.
- 4:01SPEAKER_02: I mean brutally.
- 4:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, you think you're direct, he is Oh no, my mom.
- 4:05SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 4:06SPEAKER_01: That's the person I think of when I think of who's direct.
- 4:08SPEAKER_02: If you put Gail and Scott in a room together, I they'd either kill each other or love each other.
- 4:13SPEAKER_02: Because at one point Scott goes, I want to call the dad and be like, Why don't you start being a parent?
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: And I'm like, Well, do you wanna create riffs?
- 4:21SPEAKER_02: You're right, but do you want to create riffs?
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: Is there a better way to deliver this?
- 4:26SPEAKER_02: Even his wife was saying the same thing.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: She's like, I think you should say it like this, because as long as I've known him, that's Scott.
- 4:32SPEAKER_02: He is just bam and just lays it out.
- 4:35SPEAKER_02: And it's it can be harsh, uh, but at the same time, if you know it and you know it's coming, well, then you can work the process with him and be like, maybe try this.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: I think also what's hard about that particular situation is that you know this person doesn't have a parent, really.
- 4:52SPEAKER_01: That's like a and because I know growing up, my my brother's best friend Randy lived with us for uh most of their senior year.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because he just didn't have like the greatest home life.
- 5:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so our family was providing that for him, and I'm sure he's grateful.
- 5:10SPEAKER_01: I think my parents actually really loved it because then they knew exactly where all the kids were and where everybody what everybody was doing.
- 5:17SPEAKER_01: So, but it never got to like a creepy, weird attachment.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: Like he came and went and he's uh I don't want to say as he pleased, he still followed the rules of the house.
- 5:25SPEAKER_01: Right, but he still, you know, it's like okay, Randy, here's your room, here's your bed.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: If he's gonna go hang out with friends, then he could do that.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 5:34SPEAKER_01: And then he just came in and you know, he had a house key and everything.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: So yeah.
- 5:37SPEAKER_02: It it's it seemed like it was much more intense than that from the description I got.
- 5:41SPEAKER_02: But but again, you know, the the point to it is is he's just one of these super direct people, and if you know how to be prepared for it, you're good.
- 5:49SPEAKER_02: Either way, it was a it was really nice to see them, always is, you know, at least once a year.
- 5:54SPEAKER_02: But uh I just And are you gonna see them?
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: Are you going to go up to Watson Homestead and start gaming tonight?
- 5:59SPEAKER_02: That question was asked.
- 6:00SPEAKER_02: Well, tonight you and I are actually, we have our event.
- 6:03SPEAKER_02: I know, I was kidding.
- 6:04SPEAKER_02: Think centertown social.
- 6:05SPEAKER_02: And the question was asked about Saturday, and I'm like, oh no, no, we have uh plans to go to Rochester, so I I can't.
- 6:11SPEAKER_02: Oh, do you really?
- 6:12SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 6:13SPEAKER_02: Uh so thank God.
- 6:14SPEAKER_02: Costco run.
- 6:15SPEAKER_02: Yep, thank God.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: Uh so you guys go on a Costco run like once a month.
- 6:19SPEAKER_02: Or when uh I don't want to do weird gaming where I own the Castle City.
- 6:22SPEAKER_01: Why don't you just be direct like him and just say, I'm just not into it?
- 6:26SPEAKER_02: You know, yeah, but I have this thing where I think of feelings, I know this will shock you.
- 6:31SPEAKER_02: This statement coming out of me.
- 6:33SPEAKER_02: Uh-huh.
- 6:34SPEAKER_02: Brace yourself.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 6:35SPEAKER_02: I also think I I don't try his can borderline on rude, you know, the the directness.
- 6:41SPEAKER_02: It can be a very fine line.
- 6:43SPEAKER_02: Give it back.
- 6:44SPEAKER_02: And I know, right?
- 6:45SPEAKER_02: And I'm not that person, you know.
- 6:48SPEAKER_02: I actually think Tiffany would have gotten along with him very well because Tiffany's extraordinarily direct, but not to the rude point.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: Um, don't you think they might have gotten in a fight then?
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: Could have I don't know.
- 6:57SPEAKER_02: It's like if Gail and him were together, I don't know how it would work out.
- 7:00SPEAKER_01: And you're like, I'm not gonna, I'm not gonna chance that.
- 7:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I couldn't tell you how it was.
- 7:04SPEAKER_02: I do want to hear about the concert.
- 7:05SPEAKER_02: Uh, you're not wearing glasses today, so are you are you wearing contacts?
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I wore contacts to the concert last night.
- 7:12SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's why your eyes are half closed.
- 7:14SPEAKER_01: Oh my god, yes.
- 7:15SPEAKER_01: Are you a little dry?
- 7:16SPEAKER_01: Oh, so dry.
- 7:17SPEAKER_01: I forgot to put saline solution in them this morning.
- 7:20SPEAKER_02: Well, we gotta do something because I need you to open those peepers.
- 7:23SPEAKER_01: Because I fell asleep with my contacts in last night.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Oh.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's explaining it.
- 7:28SPEAKER_01: So they're super dry.
- 7:30SPEAKER_02: Because I see you looking at me like you're like in a like a cartoon.
- 7:33SPEAKER_02: They used to use the uh toothpicks to hold their eyelids open.
- 7:36SPEAKER_01: Yeah, so I'm looking at your guys' text messages.
- 7:38SPEAKER_01: I'm like, oh my god, these are a little like I can sell, I can okay.
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: 4441 T G I Fun, uh, all you lucky people.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: I think she's talking about us who are going to Centertown Social.
- 7:48SPEAKER_02: Oh, maybe.
- 7:49SPEAKER_01: And I can see everyone, but I have to like I I need to rub my eyes just I would say squint, but it's already happening this morning.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: I think I just need to keep rubbing and moisturizing the eyeballs.
- 8:00SPEAKER_02: Yeah, but some drops might help.
