- 0:08Welcome ladies and gentlemen to our final Two Shot Tuesday
- 0:13record of 2025. My name is Jason Riley.
- 0:17We are as Barry would say at an ungodly hour and let me just
- 0:20introduce you to Barry Teenix and my Co host.
- 0:23Barry, let me be the first to welcome you to Two Shot Tuesday.
- 0:26Final record 2025. Thank you, Jay.
- 0:28Thank you for having me. It's a pleasure to be here.
- 0:30What time are we working on here, Barry?
- 0:32One can only guess, but it is far earlier than I would usually
- 0:36be operating, especially as we wind out the year.
- 0:39Absolutely. And I thank you for starting
- 0:42early for me. I had a little something later
- 0:44on that I'm not able to do the record.
- 0:46So this is a peek behind the curtain, everyone, and you get
- 0:49to see our fresh faces ready to go, excited to be here to ring
- 0:53out 2025. Because if you're listening to
- 0:55this, yeah, if you're listening to this as it comes out, this is
- 0:58the final days of 2025. We are recording it, as you
- 1:01know, one week earlier, just prior to the Christmas being
- 1:04upon us. So if you see a little twinkle
- 1:06in Barry's almost non existent eyes, you would notice that he's
- 1:10excited for the Christmas spirit.
- 1:12I certainly AM. Let's begin our sending away of
- 1:152025 with a toast and I in fact, you've already started with one
- 1:20in your honor, Barry, thank you for making the time this early.
- 1:24What what have you got for our not number one that you've pre
- 1:28consumed there? Yeah, we'll do it.
- 1:30It's a sipper. You know, sometimes we do
- 1:32sippers, so this is a zipper. It's coffee, but it also has a
- 1:35little bit of Bailey's Irish cream.
- 1:37And not just any Bailey's Irish cream.
- 1:40Why don't you tell the listeners with what extra flavor it's got
- 1:43into the He sent me via text based message yesterday.
- 1:46Yeah, it's a salted caramel, which is pretty good.
- 1:50Now I have to say, it's not as sweet as one would think.
- 1:53So that's actually a good thing. That's good for you because you
- 1:55don't have much of a sweet tooth.
- 1:56Yeah, I don't. OK.
- 1:58I don't. Usually.
- 1:59I'm bringing in what you've dubbed to be my favorite whiskey
- 2:02Jamison Triple triple. I'm going to have that to kick
- 2:05off the day here. And this is again to you, good
- 2:08Sir. Right back at you, Jay.
- 2:13Oh OK. I'm curious why you picked up
- 2:15this particular Bailey's knowing you don't have a huge sweet
- 2:17tooth? Or was it gifted to you?
- 2:19It was gifted to me by friend of ours, Friend of the show at TJ
- 2:23Chesley. Nice.
- 2:25He brought it over, so I was like, oh, that's pretty sweet.
- 2:27Literally, that's right. But.
- 2:29But not all that. Sweet.
- 2:30Yeah, exactly. Nice.
- 2:32Which was pleasurable for you, I'm sure, because yeah, yeah,
- 2:35you really don't. And you never have.
- 2:37In the all the years I've known you had a real sweet tooth,
- 2:40you've never been drawn to the sugary desserts, shall we say?
- 2:43Yeah, I can be standing in front of a table of desserts and not
- 2:46touch a single one. That is amazing.
- 2:48To me, yeah. And my coworkers are usually in
- 2:52awe of that, too, because one thing I noticed at work,
- 2:55especially during this period, every day, somebody's bringing
- 2:57in cookies or doughnuts or whatever, and I never touch
- 3:01them. Everyone else does, but I don't.
- 3:04That is the favorite kind of Co worker to work with, by the way,
- 3:07because yeah, yeah, because we know there's extra treats for us
- 3:11like and we can hand them to you going, hey, it's all part of the
- 3:14Christmas tradition. They come around and then you're
- 3:16happy to let it go. What if it was a a bowl of
- 3:19chips? Would that be a different story?
- 3:20That would be harder for me to resist because that is I
- 3:23certainly prefer the salt, but also I just I try not to stack
- 3:27in between meals. I really do.
- 3:29If I am going to eat chips, it'll be after dinner.
- 3:31I don't usually do that in the daytime.
- 3:33Smart. Very smart.
- 3:35You know. A certain age it causes a bit
- 3:37more gut rot. I would say the chips, yeah.
- 3:39Than they do when you're younger and can just eat bags of
- 3:42anything at any time. That's true.
- 3:44Yeah. That's that's the beauty of
- 3:46youth. Yeah, an important lesson for
- 3:47the kids out there. Now, certainly.
- 3:49Barry, here we go. We're we're sending off 2025.
- 3:52We're going to talk about some of the things that we learned in
- 3:542025, some of the more pivotal moments that hit us in 2025.
- 3:58So I want to set that up for you.
- 3:59I don't know if you have one ready to go.
- 4:00If not, I can kick us off and we can just talk about it and
- 4:03really not just to dwell on it for us.
- 4:05But what are these lessons we'll then take into 2026 that perhaps
- 4:09our listeners and our viewers can glean some knowledge from?
- 4:12Wow, OK, I would love for you to get started and then that will
- 4:16give me time to think of. Great.
- 4:19An answer to your query there. Great.
- 4:21It's a good question. Yeah, well, one of my first ones
- 4:24is tied to the podcast and it was our move to Riverside.
- 4:27And in our move to Riverside, it also meant our move to video.
- 4:31And we learned that video is just such AI mean.
- 4:35We weren't the first to learn this, We were a little bit later
- 4:37to the party. But video or podcasting is so
- 4:40critical. We have been able to grow our
- 4:42footprint through YouTube and through the shorts that we do.
- 4:46And that has been an incredible kind of a little bit of extra
- 4:50rocket fuel I'd say this year versus our kind of progressive
- 4:54growth that we've had over the last few years.
- 4:56What do you think? Yeah, that's amazing.
- 4:58And truly I agree with you on that.
- 5:00And it was your idea to say, hey, let's move to Riverside.
- 5:02And it's a fantastic platform and it's definitely worth the
- 5:05money. Yeah.
- 5:06To use it, we had an episode not too long ago where there was an
- 5:10issue with one of the two of our audio.
- 5:13Yeah, well, Riverside was able to salvage what would have been
- 5:17a dumpster fire of an episode, but thanks to Riverside, it was
- 5:21at we were something we could actually put out.
- 5:23So yeah, thank you, Jay. That was a very smart move on
- 5:26your part. Thanks.
- 5:27And if you've got a podcast out there, if you've started one or
- 5:30you're looking to start one in the new year, Riverside is a
- 5:32place to go. We recorded on Zoom before that,
- 5:35which is fine, but you know, at that point we have to do I do
- 5:38all of the editing on. I'm even forgetting the name of
- 5:41the editing platform because I haven't had to use it, but I
- 5:43used it. I.
- 5:43Think it was called Hootsuite? Was that what it was called?
- 5:46No hootsuites where we post our social media.
- 5:48So that's where we post our Instagram and Facebook clips,
- 5:50which if you're not following us already on the show, please do
- 5:52on Facebook and Instagram. Maybe we'll expand to some other
- 5:56social media platforms in 2026, may have some ideas maybe of
- 6:00where we could go. Yeah.
- 6:02Yeah, we'll think about that, right, OK.
- 6:04That sounds good. But Riverside lets us do the
- 6:07video. It's real quick to do the
- 6:09editing. There's a little bit extra work
- 6:10because of putting it on the YouTube platform.
- 6:12And what I've also learned is that I don't need to be a slave
- 6:15to the title of the episode. So if you're also learning this
- 6:18in podcast, it may be I always call the episode the same thing
- 6:21on all of our platforms, podcast versus YouTube.
- 6:24But the descriptor in the title may be a little bit more
- 6:28provocative on YouTube because that tends to travel a little
- 6:30better. It may name a few of the if we
- 6:33name some artists or some athletes, it may name that
- 6:36because these tend to have a little bit more traveling.
- 6:39In fact, our best episode if 2025 in YouTube was the review
- 6:45of 1 Battle After Another. Nice.
- 6:47By like 10X like it, it traveled pretty well for us and so that's
- 6:53kind of cool. So I'm I'm learning all this
- 6:54stuff. We're learning all this stuff as
- 6:56we begin to do this video platform.
- 6:58So that's that's one of the big ones for me.
- 7:00That's huge. That's amazing, Jay.
- 7:02What else from you, Barry, I know your workouts have been
- 7:06really well. Branded, please do.
- 7:08I was going to talk about that. In fact, I had my fitness
- 7:11assessment recently. But that's where Andre will come
- 7:14and he'll, you know, measure the skin folds and we'll take
- 7:18measurements on arms and chest and all that stuff.
- 7:21It's very official. You know, you weigh yourself,
- 7:23all that good, good stuff. Intimate, one might say, if
- 7:26you're doing skin folds. Yeah, well, that's how you can
- 7:29really. Hey, if you don't track it, you
- 7:30can't change it, I believe is the phrase.
- 7:33And if you, if you don't know where you're at, you don't know
- 7:35where you're going. So the last time I did 1 was
- 7:40November of 24, so about 13 months later, which is that
- 7:43that's definitely enough runway to see some changes.
- 7:46And I'm happy to say that there's been some changes.
- 7:48Very good. Of course.
- 7:49Yeah, I added another 4 lbs of lean muscle, sitting at 217 lbs.
- 7:54But I've lost fat and gained muscle during the past 13
- 7:58months, which is exactly what you want to do.
- 7:59And it was kind of funny. Both at different times, but
- 8:03Andre and Linda, my wife, executive producer Linda LeBron,
- 8:07they both separately, but they both brought it up and asked
- 8:10whether I was using steroids and I said no, I'm not using
- 8:13steroids, but I'm just thankful that I have, you know, good
- 8:17genetics. So that's responding to hard
- 8:19work. And also adding a third day has
- 8:22been critical and maintaining that consistency has been huge
- 8:26for the for the year. So yeah, yeah.
- 8:28So next rolling into 26 and I just, I want to keep gaining
- 8:31because now is the time. Once you you Crest 50, it is
- 8:34harder to add muscle, right? Not impossible to start, yeah.
- 8:39What would you say to our listeners and our viewers who
- 8:42are maybe just thinking of getting going in January?
- 8:45What's your message to them as they start on their journey?
- 8:47My message is stop thinking and just get out there and do it.
- 8:50And the first couple of months are going to suck, but stick
- 8:53with it because once you see a change in your body, you should
- 8:56be hooked at that point. But you got to wait.
- 8:58You got to put the work in until you start to see the changes.
- 9:01Too many people quit, you know, a month or two months in, and
- 9:04that's just not enough time for your body to kind of respond
- 9:07unless you have super genetics. And if you're 20, that's that
- 9:10might have happened. But if you're a middle-aged man
- 9:12like myself, you got to give yourself at least three months
- 9:15of consistency. And then after that, you should
- 9:16start seeing some changes. Nice.
- 9:18Yeah. OK.
- 9:19But it will suck in the beginning.
- 9:20I remember when I started, it absolutely sucked.
- 9:23I had to really drag my ass to get there.
- 9:25Even though I was training with somebody, I still had to, like,
- 9:28drag myself. Anyway, the point is, stick with
- 9:30it and you'll be happy. Yeah.
- 9:32There's still some plateaus I have a hard time getting over,
- 9:34like if I if I hurt my back or if I hurt, if I make myself
- 9:39nervous, I'll step back a bit and then I have a hard time
- 9:42pushing through it. So but I hear your message of
- 9:44like, just keep going, just keep doing it, keep showing up.
- 9:47I have some ideas on some things I want to do this year that I
- 9:50will, you know, reveal to you as because I know you'll help hold
- 9:53me accountable. And.
- 9:55I'd be happy to go through and I'll share it, of course, with
- 9:58our viewers and our listeners right here on the show because
- 10:00it's all part of the journey, because it's.
- 10:02Yeah, I would say that. Yeah, I mean you want to be
- 10:04ready for jacked spring, which is good be going to be happening
- 10:07coming. Up.
- 10:07Yeah, I. Mean So that's something to
- 10:09shoot for. Jay, Jack Spring.
- 10:11Act spring shirts off summer shirts off fall shirts off
- 10:14winter where it gets a little colder and the nips start to
- 10:16stick out a little bit. But that's fine, that's what
- 10:18you. Got to do.
- 10:18It's fine. It's all fun.
- 10:20Let him out. Let him breathe, for heaven's
- 10:22sake. Hey, we've.
- 10:22Got a format on this show and that's going to continue well
- 10:25into 2026 and beyond. And it is two shots of anything
- 10:30that we choose. What have you got for shot
- 10:31number? Two and well, I'm going to
- 10:33continue with what I've been sipping on Jay.
- 10:35It's a little Bailey's Irish cream and some quality and
- 10:38espresso coffee. And I will be going back to the
- 10:42Jameson triple, triple. Beautiful.
- 10:45Cheers. Oh yeah.
- 10:48Maybe one day we should have a different one versus two shot,
- 10:52like a second shot. That's different.
- 10:54Maybe that should be a goal in 2026.
- 10:57But that would be novel. We never do.
- 10:58That no we don't. I think part of it is we're
- 11:01trying to keep our costs in line here at the two shots due.
- 11:03That's true since we are pre revenue.
- 11:06However you know. Five years revenue.
- 11:11Yeah, but I do like the idea. I do like the idea and Express
- 11:15is the time to do it because that's usually when you get
- 11:17gifts of bottles. Is that is that what you guys
- 11:19like? Do you get that from your Co
- 11:21workers or from other family members?
- 11:23Do they give you bottles? Not.
- 11:25Really, No, we don't. There's not a lot of gifts that
- 11:27get exchanged. I mean, there is with, with all
- 11:30the executive producer, all the aroma's parents and we'll, we'll
- 11:32go spend some time there with my parents.
- 11:35It's a trip to Sudbury. So it tends to be, you know, in
- 11:38the form of cash that might go, you know, there and because it's
- 11:41just easier to send or it's easier to transport on a plane,
- 11:44that kind of stuff. So, yeah, yeah.
- 11:46But then that usually will turn into a bottle.
- 11:48So I guess it's a 2 step process, but there's always
- 11:51something there like yesterday I re upped the black barrel, which
- 11:54I think is going to be my favorite for 2026.
- 11:57I have to say that is AI even passed up a new bottle of triple
- 12:01triple at the LCBO with like a little bonus bottle of black
- 12:04barrel attached to go right to a single bottle of black barrel
- 12:07because I I I think I like it much better than the triple
- 12:10triple like triple triple is good, but black barrel you can't
- 12:14get one. They don't seem to be available
- 12:16below blue or for some reason but.
- 12:19You know, I would love to find out the reason for that because
- 12:21it is. It's a little frustrating, Jay,
- 12:23but I'm happy that you're enjoying because I completely
- 12:25agree with you. I think the black barrel at the
- 12:27price point and the quality, it's like stands, heads and
- 12:30shoulders above everything else we've tried.
- 12:32Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 12:34I'm going to talk about another transformative thing.
- 12:36I think you'll be able to use it as a jump off point as well for
- 12:38you. It's one that we share, the two
- 12:41that I won't talk about because I've talked about in the passing
- 12:43of our dog, Doug London, may he rest in peace.
- 12:45That was pivotal in 2025 and the trip to Japan that we dedicated
- 12:49an entire episode to pivotal in 2025, and I'll be going back in
- 12:522026 for this shoot. The one, though we touch on it
- 12:58from episode to episode was and again, at almost your
- 13:01insistence, I joined the 4K family at the end of 2024 and so
- 13:06in 2025 was able, I've been able to grow, I think pretty
- 13:10impressively, my 4K disc experience and I wanted to
- 13:15highlight three of them in particular, upgrading ones like
- 13:18Shawshank Redemption that is just a great movie to own in
- 13:21multiple formats. It's kind of grown with me as
- 13:23I've improved my my devices I guess.
- 13:27Yeah, your audio visual home setup.
- 13:30Yeah, screen refresh, you call it, which I love.
- 13:32Yeah, yeah, yeah. The Batman, the original Batman
- 13:36movies with by Tim Burton. Nice to have that.
- 13:39Watched Batman Returns for the first time, even though I owned
- 13:41it for a year. I just put it in this year at
- 13:43Christmas. It's more of a Christmas movie.
- 13:45Fantastic. Looks fantastic.
- 13:47I've now watched all four of them and of course, have just
- 13:49added the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
- 13:51Yes, we talked about the first one.
- 13:53I'm now halfway through the second one.
- 13:55Executive producer Aldo Roman. I watched part of half of it
- 13:57last night. Silly but fun.
- 14:00Those are three. So the expansion of the 4K
- 14:03experience and the embracing of physical media, I owe this to
- 14:08you and it's become a it informs me in 2025 and will continue to
- 14:12inform my purchases in 2026. Yeah, well, that's great news,
- 14:15Jay. I'm glad I was able to help you
- 14:17get over that 4K finish line because you were ready.
- 14:20You were ready to make the leap. Yeah, you felt ready.
- 14:22You had you had a whole PowerPoint presentation.
- 14:25Oh yeah, that's right. A very convincing one I might.
- 14:28Take through it. Yeah, you did.
- 14:29And, you know, obviously that was enough to get executive
- 14:32producer Aldo Romo over the finish line as well.
- 14:35So that's right. That's right.
- 14:37What? What 4 KS were you most
- 14:40impressed with that you added to your collection in 2020?
- 14:4250 man, I I have added a good number this year, yeah.
- 14:47Yes, some might say weekly. They come in, let's not.
- 14:50Quite weekly, but one that I'm still on the.
- 14:53Was Conan this year? No, no, that was that was at
- 14:57least last year, maybe even 23. Oh wow.
- 15:00OK. That that Chronicles is now out
- 15:03of print. By the way, you can't get the
- 15:04the two films together was really good this year.
- 15:12Damn tough. To think about, they're like all
- 15:14landing in your brain right now. You're like, I can see, you can
- 15:16see the whole shelf and you're like trying to zoom in.
- 15:19I got to say the new Superman movie which I freaking loved.
- 15:24It's looks and sounds amazing at home as well.
- 15:27Like when he's zipping around and all the the channels are
- 15:29engaged and you like the action is totally immersive.
- 15:33Yeah. That's definitely a highlight.
- 15:35I I really, really enjoyed that movie.
- 15:37I thought they hit it out of the park.
- 15:39We finally got a good Superman movie, The best one since
- 15:41Christopher. Reeve brought me back to the
- 15:42theaters again. Yeah, You know, last time I was
- 15:45there, Indiana Jones four or five was the last one that I saw
- 15:49that we did a review on and then back for Superman and then back
- 15:52the weekend after for a Fantastic Four, which was also a
- 15:55quality film. It it's it's getting more of a,
- 15:57it's getting knocked a little bit more.
- 15:59I think because Marvel has had such impressive successes sort
- 16:02of pre pandemic that Fantastic Four, it hasn't gotten the love
- 16:05that Superman got. And Superman, I think was, to me
- 16:08anyway, more of a superior felt. Yeah, I I agree.
- 16:10It had some good laughs in it as well.
- 16:12Everything about it was really cool.
- 16:13I'm looking forward to Supergirl, which I think you've
- 16:16seen the trailer. It looks pretty darn good.
- 16:19Yeah, for sure. Yeah.
- 16:21All right, Barry, it's time to wrap up.
- 16:23So let's just parting thoughts as we're going to 2026.
- 16:26What do you want to leave our listeners and our viewers with
- 16:28as your final thought? Probably just a heartfelt thank
- 16:31you for supporting us and being with us each and every week, and
- 16:35we super appreciate it. And we're going to continue to
- 16:37bring you at least 18 minutes of Entertainment Weekly all
- 16:41throughout 2026. Absolutely, Yeah.
- 16:44Same thing for me. This represents our 52nd episode
- 16:47of the year. That's 52 episodes every year
- 16:50since we since 2021. We started at the end of 2020.
- 16:54So we had a few episodes that year.
- 16:55And then since then it has just been bang, bang, bang, bang,
- 16:58bang. We are, we are the Swiss, Swiss
- 16:59watches of podcasts. Yeah, we keep time.
- 17:03Perfectly. That's right.
- 17:04And Speaking of it, our time is up.
- 17:07Have a happy New Year, Barry and you.
- 17:09Too, Jay. Happy New Year to all our
- 17:11listeners and viewers. We look forward to seeing you in
- 17:132026. Absolutely.
