- 0:19and Scott Moskowitz. Hey, y 'all. Welcome back.
- 0:24It's No ID. North Idaho's mainstream media deconstruction.
- 0:29I'm Scott. Hello, Internet. I'm Paul. It's a
- 0:33beautiful day and we have a beautiful guest on
- 0:36with us today Matt edwards is here from so many
- 0:41things. I don't even know where to begin. Maybe
- 0:42you should just start A beautiful face for radio
- 0:47when you said beautiful, right? Isn't that what
- 0:49they say? I heard that a lot of times. Yeah,
- 0:53like thanks a lot Yeah, you know I dip my toes
- 0:58in a lot of different things my my background
- 1:00is film and television and in hollywood made
- 1:03a career out of there doing that and find myself
- 1:07in the mix in Idaho politics these days. If you
- 1:11made a career in film with a radio face, I'm
- 1:12already impressed, Matt. Behind the camera, behind
- 1:15the camera. Yeah. And so if you came from Hollywood,
- 1:18then you have distinctions about it. You must
- 1:20have at least one trans kid, I'm assuming. Right.
- 1:24Or two or three. Just got a gag considering that's
- 1:27where I met my wife as well on a set. So but
- 1:30no, we escaped that. We escaped that somehow.
- 1:33I don't know how that seems unlikely, but here
- 1:36we are. So let's just dive right off the bat
- 1:39just for that. Idaho Signal would be the main
- 1:42your main organization. Yeah, well, that's a
- 1:45project of Citizens Alliance of Idaho. Yeah.
- 1:48So in terms of, you know, folks who tune into
- 1:51podcasts that deal with Idaho news and the like,
- 1:54Idaho Signal might be on their radar. So, yeah.
- 1:57So from the most, as I'm making sort of a tongue
- 2:00in cheek about the TransKit thing, because the
- 2:02most, I don't know if it's the most recent or
- 2:04just within a week that you did a whistleblower
- 2:07interview with a, about the LGBTQ plus IA apostrophe
- 2:13up down left, right starts to like take over
- 2:14of an elementary school down in South Idaho,
- 2:17which as we've discussed a thousand times on
- 2:18this program is basically a different country.
- 2:20So let's play a quick clip of it just to give
- 2:23you a sense of what Matt's doing. Let me jump
- 2:25to April real quick again because April, you
- 2:27said earlier that a lot of, how many staff and
- 2:32teachers would you say are carrying around these
- 2:35lanyards or these badges? So before we hear her
- 2:38answer, set this up. Who are you talking to and
- 2:40in what context? Yeah, so her name is April Cheney
- 2:43and she is a paraprofessional, I guess that's
- 2:46what they call her. And she's working inside
- 2:49the White Pine Elementary School, a K through
- 2:51six elementary school in South Boise. And she
- 2:54has been documenting, taking photographs and
- 2:58whatnot and documenting all of the sort of trans
- 3:02LGBT, BLT plus lettuce and avocado mafia, all
- 3:07of their paraphernalia around the school. You
- 3:09know stickers lanyards and such and there's this
- 3:13one particular thing that teachers are wearing
- 3:15It says I'm here and it has like a little rainbow
- 3:18motif on it and it's a safe space spot So if
- 3:22a student sees that and it says I'm here then
- 3:24that teacher is designated as being somebody
- 3:27who is an ally gay Coming for our kids Oh yeah.
- 3:34No paranoid. You know, when that, it was all
- 3:37of like less than 10 years ago when we went,
- 3:39you know what this is all about, right? Guys
- 3:40grooming. This is about grooming children. They
- 3:42were like, no, no, no. Gay rights and stuff.
- 3:45You guys are nuts. Yeah. Well now they're not
- 3:48numbers. Yeah. And now they're not really coming
- 3:50for them. You just dropped them off at their
- 3:52institutions. Yeah. There's a there's one of
- 3:57my favorite quotes of all time and Scott's heard
- 4:00this probably a number of times, but now because
- 4:01the homeschooling topic comes up a lot because
- 4:03it's near and dear to my heart is basically a
- 4:05modern conservative is someone who sends their
- 4:07kids to public school and then complains about
- 4:09why they're losing the culture war. Yeah, really.
- 4:13All right. So here's the here's the lady's answer
- 4:16to what percentage of the staff faculty are wearing
- 4:20these hammer and sickles. I mean, the LGBT pins,
- 4:24whatever they were patches or pins. They're like
- 4:26lanyards lanyards. Oh look like at your film
- 4:29festival. Yeah Staff and teachers, would you
- 4:32say are carrying around these these lanyards
- 4:35or these badges? It's definitely over half Wow
- 4:41Half to three quarters. Yeah this year they double
- 4:45down on it because i'm there Okay, so all right.
- 4:49Well, I guess the next question too is are I
- 4:52mean Kindergarten through through fifth grade,
- 4:56sixth grade here. How many transgender students
- 5:00go to this school? How many gay students go to
- 5:03this? How many gay five year olds? This is an
- 5:04elementary school, right? Yeah. Elementary. By
- 5:08the way, just so you know, Paul, I did, I did
- 5:10cut out this question. This is now living on
- 5:12the soundboard. How many gay five year olds are
- 5:14go to go to school at white pine? Be part of
- 5:19a, and we're going to go through last week's
- 5:20sound clips as soon as we're done with that.
- 5:22You were going to. Set me up for an ask Paul
- 5:24with how many gay five -year -olds existed. Well,
- 5:26yeah, you can guess here comes the question I
- 5:29don't know how many make your guess before we
- 5:31call the game begins. It's ask Paul brought to
- 5:35you by Pfizer. Okay. Let's reiterate the question.
- 5:38How many transgender students go to this school?
- 5:40How many gay students go to this? How many gay
- 5:43five -year -olds are go to go to school at white
- 5:45pine? Oh man, is it a proportionate to the number
- 5:52of liberal white moms? B, proportionate to the
- 5:56number of I Am Here Safe Place staffers, or C,
- 5:59all of the above. 10 out of 10 studies show that
- 6:03the more gay people are near your kids, the gayer
- 6:05your kids become. I have no idea. I don't know.
- 6:10So I think you got that wrong, man. I'm being
- 6:12a little bit... The answer was, I don't know.
- 6:17Do you run into students that are, that are,
- 6:19you know, they wear, they wear boys clothes when
- 6:21they're a girl and vice versa and they, they
- 6:23act, they, they, they have their pronouns changed.
- 6:26I mean, you, you, you must, you know, be in touch
- 6:28with students. So is it even happening or is
- 6:31this just sort of what we've all suspect, which
- 6:33is like grooming thing. It's getting them prepared
- 6:35for the next level. Yeah. We don't, we don't
- 6:37groom. What are you talking about? This is just
- 6:39about gays getting married. This is a whistleblower
- 6:46is, you know, has come forward about this particular
- 6:49school. I mean, the only reason we're hearing
- 6:50about this school is because somebody's speaking.
- 6:54So I'm to the assumption is that it's going on
- 6:57at all schools. Just not all of them have whistleblowers.
- 6:59Yeah, not all of them. Yeah, not all of them
- 7:01are. Not all of them are coming public. You know,
- 7:04there are people who have come to me in the past
- 7:06and said this. I've seen this at school. This
- 7:08is happening. Parents, you know, students and
- 7:10stuff and whatnot. And every and when I say,
- 7:13are you willing to like Go go public with it.
- 7:16No. Oh Maybe let me think about it. Yeah, I mean
- 7:20there's a lot at stake. You know, you're you're
- 7:21you just want your kid to graduate, you know
- 7:24we've talked about that a million times to where
- 7:26like there's the Oh, well, I'll come to your
- 7:29defense But only privately all of the like the
- 7:32detractors will say it publicly and then they'll
- 7:34come to you privately afterwards and be like
- 7:36hey I'm on your side and they'll whisper it's
- 7:38like yeah, but you're not doing it publicly.
- 7:39What good is it? Mm -hmm. That's very true. Yep
- 7:41Yeah, well it is most people most people do lack
- 7:44Courage in general, that's a lot of why we are
- 7:46where we are. Most people lack common sense and
- 7:48decency. That's why we are where we are. We could
- 7:52unpack that all day. But there are real world
- 7:55implications and consequences for speaking out.
- 7:59I mean, the public education as a whole is a
- 8:02cartel. It's a cult. And the gay agenda, trans
- 8:07agenda, that whole... I don't know what else
- 8:10to call it because community is not the right
- 8:11word, but it is also a cult and the two go hand
- 8:14in hand and what is one of the You got it Yeah,
- 8:18well the teachers unions just just a sub cult
- 8:21of a bigger cult cartels and cults man, and what
- 8:25are what are the what are the biggest markers
- 8:27of A cartel and or a cult can't criticize not
- 8:31allowed to criticize them. They are above reproach
- 8:34The moment that you offer any critique or whistle
- 8:37blowing or any accountability of any kind, they
- 8:40destroy you. It's not enough for them to put
- 8:43you away. They, they actively must destroy you
- 8:47and your family and your neighbor's tail as old
- 8:50as time. It's formulaic and everybody knows what
- 8:53the formula is. And that's why Matt, you know,
- 8:55when a guy like Matt tries to find people to
- 8:57speak up, it's really hard. You have to be willing
- 8:59to sack, you have to be willing really to put
- 9:01it all out there and sacrifice everything. And
- 9:05there seems to be a common thread when people
- 9:07do speak up is April is a is a believer she knows
- 9:12that And that's what drives her, you know, she
- 9:15she reads the Bible. She can quote it. She She's
- 9:18very devout. She used to be a Democrat You know,
- 9:22she didn't think that this stuff was going on
- 9:24And then it was confronted with her. She'll talk
- 9:27about it on her own. And that's what turned her
- 9:29around? Well, it was the women's sports thing.
- 9:33The men and women's sports. She's like, what
- 9:34is going on here? Wait a minute, you people are
- 9:35nuts. And so it just kind of woke her up. And
- 9:39being a Christian and also just seeing the attacks
- 9:42on all of that. And she'll go to the mat now
- 9:47knowing that she's speaking the truth. And when
- 9:52you live in that... When you live inside that
- 9:54paradigm in your mind like nothing you're afraid
- 9:56of nothing, you know Because you expect to be
- 10:00persecuted totally. Yeah Let's Do we you know
- 10:05promise to do is at the at the top of the show
- 10:07the new? Segment where we do last week sound
- 10:10clips I only have two of them like we're going
- 10:12to determine whether or not these are going on
- 10:14the drop board This is episode number 48 of no
- 10:16ID from episode 47 There are two and I did hear
- 10:20from the agenda archaeologist Paul He wrote back
- 10:23in he remember we said can you please suggest?
- 10:25Names for this new segment at the top of the
- 10:27show and he he wrote in dropped a liberation
- 10:30deathmatch He said, because Paul asked for alliteration.
- 10:34What do you think? I do love alliteration. It's
- 10:37true. Triple D. Triple D. All right. So it's
- 10:41the Triple D at the top. Let's go. It reminds
- 10:43me of a celebrity death match back in the old
- 10:45days of MTV. So I'm not opposed to it. Was that
- 10:48Claymation, wasn't it? You guys remember that?
- 10:50The Claymation? That stuff was killer. Wow. I
- 10:52haven't thought about that in a long time. All
- 10:54right. Well, the drop deliberation death match.
- 10:57And here is the first one. This is from the NPR
- 11:00promo that they did for Boise Pride. It's really
- 11:03magical. What do you think? It's really magical.
- 11:08It's one of the organizers, which you'll be shocked
- 11:12to know was a little bit gay. And he had this
- 11:15to say when NPR interviewed him. It's really
- 11:16magical. It's really magical. He's on the phone,
- 11:19so it's not great. What do you think, Paul? I
- 11:22think as a tie into another sound drop, it has
- 11:25potential. I think as a standalone, it's not
- 11:27as awesome as I want it to be. And I want it
- 11:29to be awesome. Fair enough. Well, it wasn't such
- 11:32a magical drop. We're going to delete it. And
- 11:34the other one from last week was this. Everything
- 11:37I say is made up. Okay, that's a yay. All right.
- 11:47And well, you know how much I love to listen
- 11:49to the sound of my own voice, Scott. So obviously
- 11:51that one's it. Everything I say is made up. All
- 11:54right. This is going on the drop board. That's
- 11:57the this week's drop the liberation death match.
- 12:00And we'll we'll see what comes from this episode
- 12:03number 48. And, you know, we did do as well in
- 12:06between these two. episodes, we had our inaugural
- 12:09meetup, no ID meetup at the racketeer. And here
- 12:13is the meetup report. This is the Spookist Volcan
- 12:15calling in from the racketeer lounge on my second
- 12:18cigar here. The first no ID meetup. wonderful
- 12:23time, great people, and we clearly established
- 12:26that Paul doesn't like roads. So, uh, but my
- 12:30roads. This is Brian here, also from Post Falls.
- 12:33Speaking for Brian and Lacey, she's rolling out
- 12:36now, but had a great time. It was officially
- 12:39not a sausage fest. Pretty close, though. Ladies,
- 12:43the clarion call is out. Next meetup, we need
- 12:46your presence. What are you guys talking to?
- 12:49We're doing a meetup report. Oh, it's still recording.
- 12:52OK, well, I guess the Paul Van Duzi taxation
- 12:54is theft. Boom, short and simple. David Wallace,
- 12:57taxation is theft. Pierce Duncan, mass surveillance
- 13:00is a Fourth Amendment violation. Alex here for
- 13:03the good cigars and good people. This is Jason
- 13:05here drinking an amazing Scotch ale. Sir Donald
- 13:08with the fire bottles we solve the problems of
- 13:10the world at this meeting. I feel like we did
- 13:13solve the problem. Heck yeah we did. Yeah at
- 13:15least we solved the problem of potholes. Is that
- 13:18why I'm feeling so good? I think that well I'm
- 13:20also I slipped some molly into your coffee that
- 13:24also might have something to do with it. Yeah,
- 13:26that was a good time. We really enjoyed hanging
- 13:28out with you guys in person. Man, there's nothing
- 13:30like a real meetup with real faces and just real
- 13:33conversation and just the internet was a, it
- 13:36was a distant fart in the wind. Paul agrees.
- 13:43There you go. I agree. I don't have a sound job
- 13:47to fart in the wind, so I just went with the
- 13:48bell. You know, we need to meet up with each
- 13:51other. I mean, this was the whole thing during
- 13:54the pandemic, right? It was like, stop talking
- 13:56to each other. You know, any time someone wants
- 13:59to disrupt something, they tell people to like,
- 14:02you know, like you need to separate your fellow
- 14:04man is dangerous. Yes. Yep. Always. Yeah. Yeah.
- 14:08I mean, Scott and I are on that topic all the
- 14:10time. We lived it. We worked in industries that
- 14:13were we were the non -essentials. Our businesses
- 14:16were deemed non -essential. We were deemed non
- 14:18-essential. All the good stuff. So we lived through
- 14:21it. We fought through it. We we disobeyed it.
- 14:24And the other covid stuff is a major, major hot
- 14:26topic. And One of the, I think for both of us,
- 14:29but specifically since we're talking about it
- 14:31with the racketeer and its predecessor, the bulldog,
- 14:34that was, you know, the, uh, the root of our
- 14:37success is we don't even have T TVs in there.
- 14:40Now I don't own it anymore, but I say we, but
- 14:42I guess, you know, I built it. So I'm going to
- 14:44still claim it a little bit. Um, no TVs. And
- 14:48that was intentional. People come in and be like,
- 14:49yeah, Hey, no, I see no TVs. And we go, yeah,
- 14:51that's the point. You sit down, you have a cigar,
- 14:53you have a drink and you, and you, and you're
- 14:55here. You visit. It's for fellowship. And it
- 14:58works. It's a formula that works tried and true.
- 15:00You know, interestingly enough, I don't know
- 15:02if I've shared this with you, Paul, but we had
- 15:03the exact same philosophy early on at the hop
- 15:05grenade. We we had three TVs up in the like across
- 15:09the top of the bar, basically. But they were
- 15:11digital menus like digital pour for craft beer
- 15:13taps, you know. And we had that for I remember
- 15:15how long probably six months that we had because
- 15:18we wanted to go into it with the exact same philosophy.
- 15:20No TVs. And eventually the market. sort of made
- 15:25the decision for us, especially because it was
- 15:27the San Francisco Bay Area, and the Warriors
- 15:29and the 49ers and the Sharks and the Giants are
- 15:32just huge. I mean, pro sports obviously is huge,
- 15:34but in particular in the Bay Area. And, you know,
- 15:37one of them is always making some sort of playoff
- 15:39run or championship run. And we we sort of had
- 15:42to the market said, hey, man, we really want
- 15:44the games on TV. So we made a point of sure we'll
- 15:48play games, but we will not do the audio. It's
- 15:51still just going to be music. And we were not
- 15:53going to have it on ESPN the Ocho at 11 o 'clock
- 15:55in the morning. It's just going to be for these.
- 15:57But we have this exact same philosophy. Paul
- 15:59and I, we had very similar wavelengths from,
- 16:03you know, from an ocean away and we didn't know
- 16:05each other. Right on the same page. Yeah, I enjoy
- 16:08it as a patron. I got away with it a little bit.
- 16:12Sorry. Come again, Matt. I was just saying as
- 16:14a patron of those types of establishments, I
- 16:16appreciate that there's no television. There's
- 16:19no distractions. You can spend time with your
- 16:22I mean I say with my own family when we go to
- 16:24a restaurant It's just filled with television.
- 16:26That's like okay. There goes the conversation
- 16:28I guess I'll just talk to my wife and not my
- 16:30kids sometimes it works You could use it to your
- 16:32advantage But you know if you want to be with
- 16:34your family and you've got TVs all around you
- 16:36the kids are naturally going to be distracted
- 16:38by I'm Italian, so meal time is really important.
- 16:42I love a good meal, an hour and a half man, hour,
- 16:45hour and a half if we can help it. Right now
- 16:47we have an 18 month old in addition to our two
- 16:49older kids, so meal time gets disrupted and cut
- 16:53up and chaotic a little bit. And it's a struggle
- 16:55for me as a guy who's a lot of his best quality
- 16:58time comes from gathering around over food. So
- 17:02yeah, fellowship is important around food or
- 17:04again, good tobacco, good libations, et cetera.
- 17:07You solve all the world's problems that way.
- 17:09or you get damn close well so listen to this
- 17:12the meetup was a good time It was great and so
- 17:14this is what we're really kind of talking about
- 17:15here is openness and like how do you facilitate
- 17:17it as opposed to like mask up stay six feet away
- 17:20stay in your basement like that's what would
- 17:21be the opposite so how do you facilitate openness
- 17:23listen to this from npr a new study ranks idaho's
- 17:26two largest public universities low in categories
- 17:29it says demonstrate freedom of speech idaho ed
- 17:32news reports spoicy state and the university
- 17:35of idaho were ranked in the top 50 of more than
- 17:37250 schools for political tolerance by nonprofit
- 17:41foundation for individual Rights and Expression,
- 17:43known as FIRE. But Boise State was in the bottom
- 17:4650 of rankings for openness. U of I was in the
- 17:49bottom 25 for self -centership, two categories
- 17:52indicating students' willingness or comfort bringing
- 17:55up contentious topics on campus. Other schools
- 17:58in Idaho were not included in the rankings, which
- 18:00were based on student surveys. BSU representative
- 18:03told Ed News the school will consider the fire
- 18:06survey as it continues to work on making campus
- 18:09culture supportive of open inquiry and free expression
- 18:12of ideas. A U of I spokesperson downplayed the
- 18:14results to Ed News, saying students come to learn
- 18:17and the campus is not overly political. Surveys
- 18:20showed both campuses lean slightly liberal with
- 18:23BSU, nearly even in the number of students identifying
- 18:27as conservative or liberal. About half the schools
- 18:29included in the survey received failing grades
- 18:32on free expression from fire. So why would it
- 18:35be that a bunch of kids who were 13, 14, 15 years
- 18:41old in 2020 and now they're on college campuses
- 18:45and they don't talk and they're not open and
- 18:47they're afraid to, you know, rock the boat with
- 18:50opinions, even though that's what students in
- 18:53college were like, you know, supposed to do or
- 18:55something. Why might that be? Well, when you
- 19:01run afoul of the authorities and might be labeled
- 19:05non -essential or worse, a domestic terrorist
- 19:08of some kind, you know, for the same reason that
- 19:11Matt Edwards struggles to get his whistleblowers
- 19:13to speak up like they ought to, it's the same.
- 19:15It's collective punishment works, man. Societal
- 19:17punishment works. Societal pressures, they work.
- 19:21And the left is so effective at using those pressures.
- 19:27Man, yeah, it's a chilling effect. It's it's
- 19:30the chilling effect. I mean you're you are absolutely
- 19:32right These kids went through that they're in
- 19:34college now and they're like I ain't saying a
- 19:36damn thing Even if I mean they just they won't
- 19:40you you you look at you could look at your own
- 19:42family We look at our own family members and
- 19:44friends that you know that you you go through
- 19:46that and they see how you were treated When you
- 19:48did buck the narrative during kovat, right and
- 19:51they're like, I don't want any of that Yeah,
- 19:53I don't want any of that. I mean, in fact, I'm
- 19:54not even gonna listen to you Tell me the truth
- 19:56because if I agree with you, I know I know how
- 19:58I'm going to be treated and I don't want that.
- 20:01I mean, heck, we could. I think we all probably
- 20:04could. I know you guys. You guys know that I
- 20:06absolutely could use a close family member. My
- 20:08dad is the example. Now it wasn't covid, although
- 20:10one of the issues that they fought over at the
- 20:12college was covid and the board at the time that
- 20:14had for all of, I don't know, six to eight months,
- 20:17had a three to two conservative majority overruled
- 20:19the left as president on double masking and vaccine
- 20:22in order to go back to school at NIC. And the
- 20:25conservative board, led by my dad, overruled
- 20:28the president. And man, they caught so much flack
- 20:30and so much shit for that. And then that whole
- 20:33nightmare that was the NIC thing ensued. And
- 20:36I got to watch what happened to my old man, who
- 20:39the whole time thought the truth will come out
- 20:42in the end, and the truth never really came out.
- 20:46I would constantly be like, dad, why do you guys
- 20:48not have a social media person? doing this. Why
- 20:51do you not have a channel where you can get on
- 20:53and tell your side of the story or something?
- 20:55Like just do something and dad's like, nah, it'll,
- 20:58you know, the truth will come out in the end.
- 20:59It always does. Like, no, the future is now old
- 21:02man and that's not how it works anymore. And
- 21:05he learned the hard way. The truth never came
- 21:07out. The left and the quarter lane press and
- 21:10NIR just pounded the same talking points over
- 21:12and over and over again. They're still doing
- 21:14it. They got their asses kicked. Yeah, they're
- 21:16still doing it. Save NIC. We always talk about
- 21:18this one. Save our libraries, save NIC, save
- 21:22our schools from the big bad conservatives. And
- 21:24it's like, well, aren't you guys conservatives,
- 21:26NIR? You call yourselves conservatives. So who
- 21:28are you saving this from? Yeah, what does the
- 21:30R stand for? And when the truth does come out,
- 21:34you can even look back and say, well, how many
- 21:37years did it take? I mean, how many years and
- 21:39how many things in history did we learn much,
- 21:41much, much later when a generation or two has
- 21:43already passed? you know, the truth. Oh man,
- 21:46we is in the libertarian circles. We laugh about
- 21:48that all the time. As you know, ours can be quote
- 21:50unquote conspiracy theorists who are batting
- 21:52a thousand were like 135 for 135 on all of this
- 21:56stuff. We've talked over the course of a century
- 21:58and ever it's formulaic. Now it's every about
- 22:0015 to 20 years they release the federal government
- 22:03releases another document and goes, yeah, yeah,
- 22:05you know, you know, operation mocking Jay. Yeah.
- 22:08Okay. That happened. We did do that. That was
- 22:10us, but, but don't worry about it because we're
- 22:13the good guys. And we're like, look, now they're
- 22:17admitting it. Now it's right there. Hey, we're,
- 22:20yeah, somehow we're still the crazies. Yeah.
- 22:23What, what do you do when they're, when they're
- 22:24not hiding the agenda anymore, but still most
- 22:26people aren't like from September 23, from just
- 22:29a week ago. I posted an article by Rachel tour
- 22:33and it is called it was North Idaho College was
- 22:36a canary in the coal mine for the political takeover
- 22:38of higher ed, but it survived. This is from inside
- 22:41higher ed .com. And it's like, it's more of a
- 22:43national but it was like using it as a as a case
- 22:46study, I suppose, for the political takeover
- 22:48of higher ed, which is of course what they do.
- 22:51But Zach Ben -Jazelf, they just they project
- 22:53they do Alinsky tactics. They accuse their opponents
- 22:56of what they do. 100 % when they're in power.
- 23:00It's reasonable and it's consistent and it's
- 23:03safe and it's secure. But when the other side
- 23:05takes power, it's it's a hostile takeover. It's,
- 23:08you know, they all the different inflammatory
- 23:10language they use when it's their side versus
- 23:12our side. It's a coup. It's textbook. It's a
- 23:17surge in conservative representation. Now, of
- 23:20course, I looked up Rachel Tour when I when this
- 23:23article came across my feed. And of course, she's
- 23:25an she's an academic and she's a she's a delusional,
- 23:29paranoid, hypochondriac. There's all sorts of
- 23:32documentation of how she behaved and what she
- 23:35said and did publicly in that era. And like,
- 23:37oh, she's making her husband double mask in the
- 23:40house. I mean, the willingness of these types
- 23:42to believe absurdities is bottomless. She admits
- 23:46to forcing her husband to double mask. Oh, yeah,
- 23:49probably. It's all right there. All I did was
- 23:50Google her. It all came right up. I'm not sure
- 23:54who I who I have the least respect for in that
- 23:57dynamic Him for sure. Yeah kidding. This is see
- 24:03and this is this is the divide that that that
- 24:05they've that we've all created, right? I mean
- 24:07like we have our bubbles right like we live in
- 24:09a completely different Society than these other
- 24:12people. Yes, we do. It's a it's we do have a
- 24:15parallel societies happening and You'll you're
- 24:19never again and once again back to the other
- 24:21thing you'll never break them out of it because
- 24:22they realize if they do leave The plantation
- 24:26they do leave the reservation. They do leave
- 24:28the institution They will be ridiculed by those
- 24:31that they respected before that's what cults
- 24:33do. Yeah all the time. Yep all the time Yes,
- 24:37the Mormons have a term for that. It's called
- 24:39apostate. Yeah No one wants to be an apostate
- 24:44let's do a Follow -up this was sent to me. I
- 24:48had sort of thought we did hjr4 pretty thoroughly
- 24:51on the last episode number 47 This was sent to
- 24:54me by dan of the dead and I I think it's worth
- 24:56playing ktvb did a Follow -up per a viewer question.
- 25:01All right you at home. Okay, we appreciate you.
- 25:04So yeah what I was just saying then let's see
- 25:07if we can get uh, I bet matt can find a way to
- 25:09segue this into I want to hear from matt about
- 25:12the work he's doing at Citizens Alliance. And
- 25:14I'm sure regarding HRJ4, HJR4, and Prop 1, and
- 25:18a number of other things, and just the general
- 25:19work that Matt does with Citizens Alliance, because
- 25:21we haven't even asked him yet, so we should.
- 25:23Well, this isn't an interview show. This is,
- 25:26you know, we're here to deconstruct the media.
- 25:29That's right, Matt. You're just along for the
- 25:30ride. Hey, I'm enjoying it, man. Now I do have
- 25:33a lot of prop one stuff too. Here I am trying
- 25:36to defer to our guest. Hey, man, I spent 10 freaking
- 25:41years interviewing guests on the Brewing Network.
- 25:43I'm done interviewing. I have a lot of prop one
- 25:48stuff to is Citizens Alliance. Has it been involved
- 25:51in this HR for stuff at all? HR for no, but prop
- 25:54one. Yes. Okay, then you know what? Maybe we'll
- 25:56let's save the follow -up then let on a share
- 25:58for we can because it's sort of evergreen We
- 26:00can do it next week because it has to do with
- 26:02like old Versions of this thing like oh this
- 26:05isn't new it happened in 1994 or whatever we
- 26:06can do that next week So let's let's do prop
- 26:08one. Yeah evergreen. Let's save it. Yeah. Okay.
- 26:11So where should we start here for prop one? well
- 26:16How about the whole campaign being a lie? I don't
- 26:18know about that. Let's start with the infusion
- 26:22of cash before we do the nuts and bolts. I want
- 26:25you to hear how this is sort of being funded.
- 26:28This is from NPR. The Group Behind a Ballot Initiative
- 26:31to Restore Abortion Rights in Idaho just got
- 26:33a heavy injection of cash, including a big donation
- 26:36from former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg.
- 26:39Since last week, Influence United for Women and
- 26:42Families more than doubled its bank account thanks
- 26:45to massive contributions from both in Idaho and
- 26:48out -of -state donors. The group hauled in more
- 26:50than $1 .8 million over the last few days, leaving
- 26:54nearly $3 .8 million cash on hand. The biggest
- 26:58chunk came from a national progressive politics
- 27:00PAC called Government That Works PAC. It chipped
- 27:03in $650 ,000. Former New York mayor and Democratic
- 27:08presidential hopeful Michael Bloomberg donated
- 27:10$250 ,000. Gwendolyn Sondheim and heiress to
- 27:14the - I think on pure principle, they shouldn't
- 27:17take his money because leftists hate billionaires,
- 27:19don't they? They hate them. It used to be millionaires.
- 27:23What is it with leftists only hating the rich
- 27:26people who aren't them? Weird I just I gotta
- 27:30throw that out there. So I'm fighting the oligarchy
- 27:33from my seat here in first class Headed to my
- 27:38third home Hello fellow proletariats, I am one
- 27:43of you Yes, comrade. Pass the champagne. Gwendolyn
- 27:46Sontime and heiress to the agribusiness giant
- 27:48Cargill also gave a quarter of a million dollars.
- 27:52Another quarter mill came from Jill Grossman,
- 27:54who founded a nonprofit that donates to causes
- 27:56in Ketchum and the San Francisco Bay area. And
- 28:00Christine and Jeff Stoddart from McCall, who
- 28:02work in commercial real estate development, upped
- 28:04their contributions to $252 ,000. Okay, so let
- 28:09me get this straight. The bulk of the money,
- 28:13no surprise, has come from out of state, mainly
- 28:16billionaires and their PACs. Shocker, right?
- 28:20Here we go. Shocker. From California and New
- 28:23York. And did you hear too in the beginning of
- 28:25this NPR part where they were like, oh, it's
- 28:27come from Idaho and out of state, where they
- 28:30sort of make it sound like it's 50 -50. But in
- 28:32point of fact, it's like 80 % of the money is
- 28:34from outside Idaho. But thanks for that framing,
- 28:36NPR. Or more. Yeah, no, thank you mainstream
- 28:39media for helping clear that one up. So California,
- 28:44New York, also from aggregate, big ag was thrown
- 28:48in there. Remember how we've covered that in
- 28:49Idaho. Ag is king, which is kind of interesting
- 28:51because you would think that an industry, yeah.
- 28:55Well, you would think that King Ag that thrives
- 28:57on cheap labor would love having more babies
- 29:00around. to recruit and be like, hey, we need
- 29:04cheap labor, more people, come on. So that's
- 29:06a little counterintuitive, but I don't know.
- 29:08Or in a different angle for the future, you'd
- 29:11think they'd appreciate having more people around
- 29:12because, you know, Soylent Green's coming. Well,
- 29:16the point of, you know, as someone who runs an
- 29:20organization that does receive out of state money,
- 29:23it's not a big secret. It's on our Sunshine Reports.
- 29:25And when it comes to the PAC side, What it really
- 29:29is showing though is the fact that like This
- 29:33is about a topic that is extremely unpopular
- 29:35You know abortion like full -scale abortion in
- 29:38Idaho is extremely unpopular with the normal
- 29:41populace of Idaho And so when you when you see
- 29:44all like signature gathering episode, you know
- 29:47part of this was funded by a lot of out -of -state
- 29:52dollars and so it just kind of showed that this
- 29:53is sort of just like They move around the country.
- 29:57Once Roe v Wade collapsed, they move around the
- 29:59country trying to get all of these things passed
- 30:02in these different states. And they've been largely
- 30:05successful. I forget what the ratio is, but only
- 30:09just recently did Florida, two years ago, the
- 30:12Florida initiative to pass abortion failed. And
- 30:18it failed somewhere else as well and now we're
- 30:20here in Idaho and so the big fight is on Idaho
- 30:21because Idaho is a huge Target for the left because
- 30:24they've already conquered Washington, Oregon,
- 30:26California Colorado, you know parts of Utah.
- 30:29Those are the easy states. Those are the easy
- 30:31states Yeah, but they were they were they were
- 30:33they are yeah, they were conservative years ago
- 30:35I mean the whole you know, I mean I'm originally
- 30:37from California. California was a red. It was
- 30:39Reagan Reagan country And it still largely is
- 30:42hate to be this guy Matt, but that was like 45
- 30:45years ago Well, yeah, but even when I mean Yeah,
- 30:50but sure, I mean, you know I went to high school
- 30:52and yeah, i'm old but like I went to high school
- 30:54with a republican governor Uh, it was going back
- 30:56and forth But the well, yeah, I mean kind of
- 31:00kind of Yeah, but the originator was like he
- 31:03was a mainstream Republican. Yeah, he was a man
- 31:05Yeah, he was a mainstream, but then when you
- 31:06look at his policies, he barely did a damn thing.
- 31:09Oh, I totally agree I mean he's a he absolutely
- 31:11but but the the populace of California is largely
- 31:14conservative outside of the big cities true It's
- 31:17true. So in the same thing in Eastern Washington
- 31:18and Eastern, Oregon So anyway, that being said
- 31:21that's ever again and I'm not trying to argue
- 31:23but that's every state. That's every state It's
- 31:25it's us versus Coeur d 'Alene, Moscow, Pocatello,
- 31:27Boise It's everybody versus Salem, Portland,
- 31:32and I don't know, UG. It is, and they will now.
- 31:35Same thing. Yeah. And they're tripling down on
- 31:38Idaho now because they've conquered everywhere
- 31:40else. So that's why you're seeing this huge,
- 31:43huge bush. The exact figures here from the Secretary
- 31:47of State Sunshine records that Matt just referenced
- 31:49for this is about one. Or wait a minute. Of this
- 31:55recent infusion, sorry, it's saying about 76
- 31:57% of this recent infusion was from outside Idaho.
- 32:00Here's the last 10 seconds of that clip. Ads
- 32:02from Idahoans United and its main opponent Too
- 32:05Extreme for Idaho have begun airing on commercial
- 32:08TV stations as counties began mailing absentee
- 32:11ballots last week. James Dawson. Now here's what
- 32:14we are going to tell you. Election day is November
- 32:163rd. Get out there, guys. And Election Day is
- 32:19November 3rd. The far right. Sounds like a native
- 32:23ad. Almost. All right. So now here is the...
- 32:26And if you support the slaughter of babies, just
- 32:28remember the election is November 3rd. And, you
- 32:32know, Big Daddy Bloomberg from New York and the
- 32:35hipsters in San Francisco are telling you to
- 32:38vote this way. So if you want to be, you know,
- 32:40cool and hip. Hello, fellow high schoolers. How
- 32:43do you do? I'm hip. And, you know, just remember.
- 32:47Slaughter and babies is hip by the way the just
- 32:50so you know the head of that organization Idahoans
- 32:54united for women and families the head of that
- 32:56organization Ran Boise mayor Lauren McLean's
- 32:59campaign. It's give you an idea of where she's
- 33:02coming from Here is a creme channel 2 and their
- 33:05coverage of I don't what you're saying is That
- 33:08if I'm anywhere near them I'm liable to get stabbed
- 33:11by a hobo in the green belt while I'm on my way
- 33:13to vote for slaughtering babies No, they're saying
- 33:16that you're liable to get greeted by an unhoused
- 33:20individual who is camping on the green belt.
- 33:24Oh, right. I'm the intruder there. My bad. My
- 33:26bad. Stupid taxpayer. Here's Crime Channel two.
- 33:29Idaho voters will soon decide whether to change
- 33:31the state's abortion laws. Proposition one would
- 33:34establish a right to reproductive freedom, including
- 33:36abortion. Listen to the framing. Whenever the
- 33:39end, whenever the mainstream media suddenly concerned
- 33:42with rights and freedom. establish a right to
- 33:45reproductive freedom, freedom, abortion before
- 33:48fetal viability and in certain medical emergencies
- 33:51after viability. Christian Lopez with our Boise
- 33:53sister station spoke with doctors on both sides
- 33:56of the issue to break down what they say prop
- 33:57one would mean for patients. More than 300 Idaho
- 34:01physicians have signed a letter in support of
- 34:04prop one while around 59 physicians have signed
- 34:07a letter against it. Now notice what they're
- 34:09doing here, which which would be way more. But
- 34:13back to the whole, you can't critique the cult
- 34:15type thing and it's hard to find the whistleblowers.
- 34:18It's the same thing in the medical industrial
- 34:19complex. The fact that those 59 physicians even
- 34:21did that, those are the bravest of the brave.
- 34:23I guarantee you there's three, four, five times
- 34:25that many. They just understand that there's
- 34:29a lot of pressure they face if they put their
- 34:30names on it. They've got mortgages and country
- 34:32club dues, man. They can't be putting stuff on
- 34:34the line like that, but hanging their ass out
- 34:36there in the breeze. No, thank you. Notice that
- 34:38they did hard numbers. They did not do percentages.
- 34:41They are doing hard numbers. What does that mean?
- 34:43We know that well. Uh -huh. 200 sounds like a
- 34:47lot. More than 300 Idaho physicians have signed
- 34:51more than 300 while around 50 less than 60. on
- 34:56the other side. While around 59 physicians have
- 34:59signed a letter against it. This is something
- 35:02that people on both sides of the argument...
- 35:03Now if they were arguing the other side is they'd
- 35:06be like dozens of physicians have signed it.
- 35:09It's just all about how they frame every sentence.
- 35:12While around 59 physicians have signed a letter
- 35:15against it. This is something that people on
- 35:17both sides of the argument say would have significant
- 35:20impact on patient care. We spoke with a doctor
- 35:23on each side about what they believe the measure
- 35:25would change. Prop 1 would establish a statutory
- 35:28right to reproductive freedom including abortion
- 35:31before fetal viability and in certain medical
- 35:34emergencies after viability. It would also protect
- 35:37contraception, fertility treatment, miscarriage
- 35:40care and prenatal and postpartum care. But opponents
- 35:43argue that the measure could go further than
- 35:45supporters say. They say it could allow abortions
- 35:48later in pregnancy affect parental consent requirements.
- 35:51for minors and allow some health care providers
- 35:55to care. One Coeur de L says current Idaho law
- 36:01al to provide lifesaving care I think the biggest
- 36:06miscon is that this is a restrict you know, only
- 36:11going to i in Idaho right now. Unfo falsehoods
- 36:22put out about the current conditions in Idaho,
- 36:27there have been suggestions that emergency medical
- 36:29care cannot be delivered to women because of
- 36:32our laws. That is not true at all. The Supreme
- 36:35Court of Idaho reviewed the Defense of Life Act
- 36:37in Idaho and said that physicians have very wide
- 36:40latitude to make the decisions they need to administer
- 36:43lifesaving care to women who are pregnant. But
- 36:46a Boise physician who supports Prop 1 says current
- 36:50law can prevent some patients from getting the
- 36:52care they need. Dr. Justin Bailey says the measure
- 36:55would give patients more options, including the
- 36:58ability to receive certain care in Idaho rather
- 37:00than having to travel out of state. More options,
- 37:04like the ability to kill their baby electively.
- 37:07Exactly. That's all we're talking about. Their
- 37:09campaign is built on a complete and total lie,
- 37:12but because people are lazy and don't. want to
- 37:15do any more research on it then they just go
- 37:16oh well we can't we can't be allowing that women
- 37:19need to be able to get saved if they have a life
- 37:21-threatening pregnancy well we're reasonable
- 37:23and that's and that's why they're couching it
- 37:25and campaigning exactly the way they're doing
- 37:27it prop one allows us to save women from potential
- 37:31harm oh well we we don't want women to be harmed
- 37:35oh so you're for harming women is that it only
- 37:39if they're in the womb women as much as i hate
- 37:41roads Mainly because women drive on roads and
- 37:44that's dangerous. I must have missed the roads
- 37:46thing. Oh, I mean not to open up a whole new.
- 37:50Oh, here we go. I'll have to go back to episode
- 37:52where we are. Which episode should I start on?
- 37:54Which episode isn't it in? OK, it's the ongoing
- 37:58joke of Paul being the wild eyed anarchist. Yes.
- 38:01And then people that are with him with him on
- 38:05most topics are, you know, like, you know, what
- 38:07about the roads? Yeah. How can we possibly have
- 38:10an argument with the status? Yeah. because they're
- 38:13like, well, fine, I'm taking my roads and I'm
- 38:15going home. And I'm like, that's, that was always
- 38:16an option. That's fine. The idea that we can
- 38:20build a complex machine that can call somebody
- 38:22in China for, you know, or we can create a complex
- 38:26machine with a what 1200 moving parts from all
- 38:30over the world to drive on the flat surface.
- 38:33But we can't, we can't clear and pave space and
- 38:37roll a flat surface out without the government,
- 38:40it's just an absurd plot line. Now there's nuts
- 38:43and bolts to work out there, and there is no
- 38:45such thing as utopia or perfection. And the way
- 38:47people's brains are wired now, we think the government's
- 38:50the only entity that can do it. It's not true.
- 38:53But shocker when you grow up, especially in public
- 38:55school, and all you're told is the state is the
- 38:57answer to everything. Look at it this way. If
- 39:00we let, as parents, if we let our kids go to
- 39:04school at age one, and we let state agents known
- 39:09as teachers, teach our kids how to walk, it would
- 39:12be less than a generation before we would make
- 39:14the argument that without government, people
- 39:15wouldn't be able to walk. Please don't take our
- 39:19road. I am an anarchist. I'm an anarcho -capitalist.
- 39:23And so, yes, that's the trope. And it's only
- 39:25because I hate roads. It's not because I believe
- 39:27in moral and ethical, peaceful behavior. It's
- 39:30not because I think monopolies on violence are
- 39:32wrong. It's just because I hate flat surfaces.
- 39:35And I really hate women driving on those flat
- 39:37surfaces. This was a hot topic at the meetup.
- 39:41And I'm pretty sure that was the problems that
- 39:43we solved, the world's problems. It was the roads
- 39:45problem that was solved at the meetup. All right,
- 39:47here's the rest of this clip. We created a scenario
- 39:49where we'll have a mom in the room and we know
- 39:54that a pregnancy is on its way to ending. And
- 39:59there's life threatening complications. And we're
- 40:01moving those patients out of Idaho where we have
- 40:04all that medical care. We're sending them to
- 40:06Utah. We're sending them to Oregon. to receive
- 40:08that care that we have here because we have laws
- 40:10that restrict our ability to take care of our
- 40:14patients, our families, our moms, our wives and
- 40:17their most needy. See, I call bullshit on this.
- 40:19Yes. I know you were trying to get through this
- 40:21clip, but it's absolute bullshit. These these
- 40:23hospitals have entire departments built by legal
- 40:27teams. They have entire legal teams to handle
- 40:30this kind of shit. They know what is legal and
- 40:32what is not. They have to anybody who's been
- 40:35through the system at all. knows that it's reams
- 40:37of paperwork. It's all about what you can and
- 40:40can't do. It's the industrial medical complex.
- 40:43They have to play by the rules. That's why it
- 40:46sucks as hard as it sucks because there are so
- 40:49many rules and there's bureaucracy and levels
- 40:51and levels and levels and levels of it. They
- 40:53know precisely what they can and can't do. This
- 40:55is a political bullshit stunt. And this guy,
- 40:58he's not being very specific. His you can hear
- 41:01him like trying not to say exactly what he is
- 41:04trying to say which is yeah They want all of
- 41:07them are doing that The baby has a has a fatal
- 41:10fetal anomaly that the parents don't want to
- 41:12raise a special needs kid They want to go kill
- 41:14it. So we need to go somewhere else to do it
- 41:16I mean, that's basically what or what we we did
- 41:19a background check and we figured out that this
- 41:21family is poor So we should just kill the child
- 41:24right now because it right because one of the
- 41:27lines of logic The left is employing as we speak
- 41:29is that it's better to be aborted than be poor
- 41:32Mm -hmm ever like or what if the woman can't
- 41:34afford the child or what if she like needs to
- 41:36finish college It wasn't planning on having the
- 41:38baby or maybe what if she was raped? By an abusive
- 41:41family member and maybe the child will have a
- 41:44disability Well, what if she can't afford the
- 41:46medical expenses and I'm over here just going
- 41:47bow bow pick a plotline pick a plotline. Come
- 41:51on Well, see the pregnancy... They try to build
- 41:54this caricature that's as sympathetic as possible
- 41:57even though it encapsulates 0 .0001 % of the
- 42:01population and most of the things that are actual
- 42:04legitimate issues are already covered by law
- 42:06and you're okay and you can handle it. One of
- 42:09the biggest questions surrounding Prop 1 is how
- 42:11it defines fetal viability. The measure does
- 42:14not set a specific week of pregnancy for viability.
- 42:17Instead, it defines viability as the point when,
- 42:20based on a physician's good faith medical judgment
- 42:23and the facts known at the time, the fetus has
- 42:26a significant likelihood of sustained survival
- 42:29outside of the uterus without extraordinary medical
- 42:32measures. So like seven months. After that point,
- 42:35Prop 1 would allow abortion in certain medical
- 42:37emergencies. Opponents argue that the lack of
- 42:41specific week -based limit could allow abortions
- 42:44later in pregnancy, while supporters say that
- 42:46viability is a medical determination that can
- 42:49vary from one pregnancy to another. What this
- 42:52proposition does and what makes it so radical
- 42:54in a way is that it redefines fetal viability.
- 42:57There's an existing standard which is around
- 43:0121 to 24 weeks of pregnancy. But the new standard
- 43:04that would be written in with proposition one
- 43:07means it would be allow abortions up to the point
- 43:11at which babies are able to live without having
- 43:14any extra care like neonatal ICU care for babies
- 43:17that are born early. You've got a baby who's
- 43:19not being developed, whose brain is not developing.
- 43:22You know, you found out at your 20 week ultrasound,
- 43:25the brain's not developing. That is no longer
- 43:27going to be a viable pregnancy. Wouldn't you
- 43:29want to know? and be able to make the decision
- 43:31that made the best sense for you wouldn't you
- 43:33want your child's doctor there's a word for this
- 43:36hmm uh oh uh it's an impromptu ask scott i don't
- 43:40have a sound drop for it but scott your people
- 43:42know what's the word for this what is the this
- 43:46for what he's referring to being able to genetically
- 43:51select to some to make selections yes eugenics
- 43:54yes Well, yeah, and who what was Margaret Sanger
- 44:00into remember when all the cool kids were into
- 44:02eugenics Mm -hmm. Yeah. Yeah and hangings. This
- 44:06is Iceland 99 % downs free Down syndrome free
- 44:10in Iceland that right percent. I mean good for
- 44:13them, I guess But at the same time Wow, we're
- 44:16I mean the hubris of playing God and of course,
- 44:19there's more You know, this is now this is another
- 44:21tangent. I'm just gonna touch real fast It's
- 44:23almost like the more we have jabbed ourselves
- 44:26with X Y & Z, especially our babies the more
- 44:29Autism and Down syndrome we come up with so brought
- 44:32to you go there, but And the older people are,
- 44:37when they're having babies, especially millennials,
- 44:39because a lot of millennials aren't having kids
- 44:41till their late 30s, early 40s. And those statistics
- 44:44are well -known, especially for the men. The
- 44:46older the man is, the more likely your kid's
- 44:48going to turn out autistic, unfortunately. The
- 44:52odds go up exponentially. That's just biology.
- 44:55So you've got demographics working against us.
- 44:57You've got the medical industrial complex working
- 45:00against us. But hey, Guys, don't worry about
- 45:02it. We have an easy fix. We'll just figure it
- 45:05out early in the pregnancy and then just use
- 45:08eugenics. Problem solved. We need a sell -by
- 45:13date on our sperm. Is that what you're saying?
- 45:15I guess. Well, yeah, I suppose so. Turn the vial
- 45:19upside down. It's probably printed on the bottom
- 45:21of the vial. Right. If we were doing a storytelling
- 45:23exercise, this would be a really short Disney
- 45:27film. If we had the Mandalorian, start off with,
- 45:31you know, Mandalorian shows up in the recruitment
- 45:32office and gets the picture of baby Yoda. And
- 45:34he's like, wait, so you want me to kill him?
- 45:37But he's a baby. And this pink Okami on the other
- 45:40side of the desk is, no, no, no, just a clump
- 45:42of midichlorians. Don't worry about it. And be
- 45:45able to make the decision that made the best
- 45:46sense for you. Wouldn't you want your child's
- 45:49doctor to be able to provide everything that
- 45:50they could? in in such a tough circumstance and
- 45:54we're taking that away right like the way the
- 45:56law stands currently we're taking that away and
- 45:59i did you hear he did though he he snuck it in
- 46:01there but he did the affirm his own statement
- 46:03because the statement is questionable did you
- 46:05hear the right and we're taking that away right
- 46:07like the way right we're taking that away right
- 46:09and we're taking no not right necessarily myself
- 46:11here right and we're taking that away right like
- 46:14the way the law stands currently we're taking
- 46:16that away And I am a proponent of giving that
- 46:20back to families. How is this any benefit to
- 46:24the child? How is this any benefit to the child?
- 46:28That's the neat part. It's not. And another point
- 46:33of disagreement is whether Prop 1 would change
- 46:35Idaho's parental consent requirement for minors
- 46:38seeking an abortion. The initiative does not
- 46:41specifically mention parental consent, so supporters
- 46:43and opponents disagree over whether its new right
- 46:47to reproductive freedom would override that existing
- 46:50law. That is another legal question that voters
- 46:53will have to decide on when they cast their vote
- 46:55in November. Now, speaking of voting, the only
- 46:58place that I found the KCRCC trying to investigate
- 47:03the members who voted whatever, I couldn't find
- 47:06it was sent to me. The Coeur d 'Alene Press article
- 47:07was sent to me by a couple of different people.
- 47:09I couldn't find audio for it except for the Coeur
- 47:12d 'Alene Press itself. They put out a short.
- 47:15I really had to dig for it and it's very, very
- 47:17short. Here's how they summed it up. Or here's
- 47:19how the, you know, Gen Z intern summed it up.
- 47:22Hold on. Let's give a little context to it. Unless
- 47:25the short gives context to it. The context is
- 47:28the KCRCC, which is almost evenly split now between
- 47:31North Idaho Republican operatives, I'm going
- 47:34to say, which North Idaho Republican is a misnomer.
- 47:36Those who listen to this show or understand what
- 47:38goes on up here understand the NIR. They're not
- 47:40actually like. They don't follow the Republican
- 47:43platform in a lot of ways, but they refer to
- 47:45themselves as conservative Republicans. Maury
- 47:48says that was a lie. But they've got half of
- 47:52the KCRCC right now and the other half are actually,
- 47:55for the most part, actual conservatives. But
- 47:58about half a dozen of the NIR candidates who
- 48:00are now precinct committee members put their
- 48:03names on the petition to start this ballot initiative.
- 48:07And so there is an investigation going on regarding
- 48:10that because it does diametrically to put your
- 48:14name on the petition to support abortion and
- 48:16to get prop one as a ballot initiative puts you
- 48:20diametrically opposed to the Republican Party
- 48:23platform of Idaho. You cannot openly support
- 48:27abortion and adhere to the Idaho Republican Party
- 48:31platform. So that's what's going on here. So
- 48:34now there's an investigation and they're like,
- 48:36hey, did you actually support this stuff? And
- 48:38if so, well, then we're going to call into question
- 48:40your republicanism. And naturally, I imagine
- 48:43what you're about to play, the Idaho press is
- 48:45going to be like, whoa, and that's no big deal.
- 48:47And it's a big tent party and it shouldn't matter.
- 48:49And this is a witch hunt. Witch hunt. How dare
- 48:53precinct committee men be put to the test on
- 48:55actually, I don't know, adhering to the party
- 48:57platform, as you're supposed to. In Coeur d 'Alene,
- 49:00a Kootenay County Republican Central Committee
- 49:02subcommittee investigated members who signed
- 49:04to qualify Proposition 1, a proposed abortion
- 49:07rights initiative for the November ballot. That
- 49:09was it. That's that's the only audio I found
- 49:12on the entire internet and it was set to some
- 49:14very Pleasant music and but they didn't they
- 49:17didn't do any details and I couldn't I could
- 49:19only find printed articles I heard a lot of the
- 49:21reasons were how? Oh, I just wanted I I felt
- 49:25the I wanted the public to to decide No, that's
- 49:28why I signed it. Sure. Yeah Okay, so should we
- 49:32do that with everything? Yeah. Oh What about
- 49:34the laws on murder? Let's have Let's have the
- 49:37public decide if murder is ready. The public
- 49:40wants to do a ballot initiative about legalizing
- 49:43marijuana. No, no, no, no. The legislature is
- 49:45going to take that right away from you. No, we
- 49:47don't want the public. What about paying taxes?
- 49:49I'd like an opt out clause or at the very least,
- 49:51let's do a public ballot initiative where we
- 49:53turn it into a menu. a menu like a menu of taxes
- 49:57and line items and stuff and so it'll be like
- 49:59okay you owe 10 % or whatever this year what
- 50:02do you want that money to go towards and I get
- 50:04a menu of like 25 things and I go definitely
- 50:06not any of this but sure I'll uh oh my roads
- 50:10yeah I'll pay for those that's it well you know
- 50:14what you should you should get a choice we don't
- 50:17get it you know where you do get a choice though
- 50:18about what you want to pay for this program no
- 50:22ID you know why Because we run on the value for
- 50:25value model. That's right. It's all choice. You
- 50:28get a menu of stuff that you can pick from, and
- 50:30it's time, talent, and treasure. That's how you
- 50:33can return value to this show, if you find it
- 50:36valuable. I think I was kind of explaining this
- 50:38to you, Matt, when we were hanging out at the
- 50:40opening night after party at the No ID Film Fest,
- 50:42which by the way, thank you for not suing us.
- 50:44It turns out we share branding. Matt is on year
- 50:48three of a film festival that he has spearheaded
- 50:51up here. Co -organized? What's your title? Yeah
- 50:55founder founder. Yeah, yeah And it is that he
- 50:58has he branded at the no ID film festival He
- 51:01was first somehow I did not come across it when
- 51:03I was searching and initially before we started
- 51:05this program You know, I looked at other podcasts
- 51:08and whatever YouTube channels and I just I don't
- 51:11know why I didn't find it So I appreciate that
- 51:12the no lawsuit at least not yet No, not at all.
- 51:16And when I saw the no ID man Yeah, I saw the
- 51:19no ID podcast come across my Facebook feed. I
- 51:21was like I must have missed a meeting. We started
- 51:25a podcast? Who's doing it? Who's doing it? It's
- 51:28like, am I on the board of something? And I didn't
- 51:30know. Right. Yeah. And, but anyway, so I was,
- 51:34so we, I went, Matt was kind enough to hook up
- 51:37some passes and I went and saw several different
- 51:39screenings of. feature -length documentaries
- 51:42and short films and a bunch of stuff, and it
- 51:43was all terrific. It was over at the Regal Cinemas
- 51:45in Coeur d 'Alene, so it's the real deal. It
- 51:48was fantastic. I went to the after -party, I
- 51:51think the first night, and Matt and I sat at
- 51:52the bar talking for a bit, and I was sort of,
- 51:54I think I was, because you were talking about,
- 51:55you know, we're both sort of radio dorks from
- 51:57back in the day. We've mentioned Phil Hendry
- 51:59and some of our other radio heroes, and how that...
- 52:03The model for all of these different broadcast
- 52:06entities are all gather an audience and pitch
- 52:08products to them. That's always the model. Well,
- 52:10value for value is exactly the inversion of that
- 52:12model. We do not have sponsors, we do not have
- 52:15advertisers, and we never will. This program
- 52:17completely runs on the value that you feel you
- 52:20get from this show. And if you just ask yourself,
- 52:24what value do I get? And attach a number to it.
- 52:26send us a donation, attach your time or your
- 52:29talent to us. And that means many different things
- 52:32like telling people about the show. That's huge.
- 52:35Word of mouth is how shows like this grow. That's
- 52:37a huge, probably the biggest at this point, less
- 52:39than a year in. That's probably the biggest time.
- 52:42Value return that you can engage in is telling
- 52:44people about the show send people the link Do
- 52:47not be shy to promote us using your credibility
- 52:49on our behalf ratings and reviews on whatever
- 52:51platform you're listening on Sending in show
- 52:54art sending in audio sending in articles sending
- 52:56in boots on the ground reports Whatever your
- 52:59area of expertise is everyone's an expert in
- 53:01something topics Do you think we should cover?
- 53:04Follow -ups things we got right things we got
- 53:05wrong like everything Paul says is made up So
- 53:08there's gonna be plenty to you know feedback
- 53:10about that No ID pod at gmail .com is an email
- 53:14address you can use to send anything you'd like.
- 53:16If you'd like to get our newsletter comes out
- 53:18once a week previews the topics of that week's
- 53:20program and otherwise satirizes and makes fun
- 53:23of Idaho politics you can sign up at no ID show
- 53:25.com all of the value return stuff, especially
- 53:29in the treasure category is at noidshow .com.
- 53:32Treasure returning of value makes you an executive
- 53:35producer of that week's episode, and we have
- 53:38a few this week for episode 48. Let's start here
- 53:41with our new, I was trying to think of a title
- 53:44for him, Paul. Jeff Mason, otherwise known as
- 53:47We Jeff, sent in $42, and he. The meaning of
- 53:54life. Oh, you got it. Did he tell you that or
- 53:58did you get that? No, I'm only half as dumb as
- 54:02I look, Scott. And you can't even see me right
- 54:04now, so you don't know how dumb I look. Both
- 54:08of us have known Jeff for quite a while, you
- 54:10longer than me. Jeff is joining our team here
- 54:14on NoID as Director of Development. I'm not sure
- 54:17what we're calling him yet exactly, but he's
- 54:19going to be helping us out with getting the word
- 54:21out about the existence of this program. as a
- 54:26true producer sent in value back to us. And the
- 54:3042 bucks does indeed reference Hitchhiker's Guide
- 54:32to the Galaxy, which I've never seen, but he
- 54:34highly recommends. The movie doesn't do it justice
- 54:38as usual. The book is it's a ride, man. It's
- 54:42a ride. But yeah, there's a lot of good stuff
- 54:44in both. But yeah, you worth a spin at least
- 54:47once. It's you got to be in the right frame of
- 54:48mind. It's kind of like movies like The Big Lebowski
- 54:51or whatnot. You got to be in the right frame
- 54:52of mind, otherwise you'll hate it. But if you're
- 54:54in the right frame of mind, you'll have a good
- 54:55time. But yeah, man, 42, the meaning of life.
- 54:57Also, I find it hilarious and marginally ironic.
- 55:01And kind of apropos that we bring we Jeff onto
- 55:03the team and we're going to be compensating him
- 55:05and his first act as our media guy is to compensate
- 55:08us. That's value for value, baby. That's someone
- 55:11who gets it. So we should hire people more often.
- 55:15What's my salary? Oh, no, you don't understand.
- 55:18You pay us to work here. Terrific model. I'm
- 55:21telling you, we're doing it right. Forget Pfizer.
- 55:23Matt, you could learn something from us here.
- 55:26as someone who's out there trying to raise money.
- 55:28This is fantastic. I told him that I would play
- 55:31the clip from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
- 55:34from whence 42 came. The answer to the ultimate
- 55:37question of life, the universe, and everything
- 55:44is 42. Yes, yes, I thought you'd over quite thoroughly.
- 56:03It is, it's 42. There you go. There's also a
- 56:06BBC version that was pretty funny. I left. I
- 56:29just liked the little lilting affect on the word
- 56:31million. I think my favorite part of the whole
- 56:35series or the whole thing is where the movie
- 56:37starts, where the, uh, the intergalactic highway
- 56:40planning division of the, you know, of the great
- 56:43universal empire shows up and it's like, so we're
- 56:46going to put a super highway here and earth is
- 56:48in the way. So you've been scheduled for You've
- 56:52been scheduled for demolition, eminent domain.
- 56:54Like space is so fast. There's vast, not fast,
- 56:58vast. And yet we got to blow up this planet to
- 57:00make way for a super highway. And it's just like,
- 57:02isn't that government in a nutshell right there?
- 57:04You could put this fucking thing anywhere else,
- 57:06but nah, we're going to eminent domain your ass.
- 57:10All right. Thank you. Run strong. I'm telling
- 57:13you the road. I hate them. Please don't take
- 57:16our road. That was a clip from when they were
- 57:20trying to privatize the road that runs through
- 57:23Gaza and they interviewed I don't know I think
- 57:25it was like KTVB or somebody interview Gaza was
- 57:28trying to privatize their road basically in the
- 57:30surrounding community It was like no no, please
- 57:32keep it public, but please also keep paying for
- 57:34Gaza All right, thanks Jeff Mason and now moving
- 57:39on Sir Donald of the fire bottles secretary general
- 57:44of greater, Idaho who sent in or actually he
- 57:47handed he handed in cash 1111 a row of Schmeckles
- 57:54From a sir Donald of the fire bottles and he
- 57:56handed it to me in an envelope at the meetup
- 57:58And there was no note, but he this was a 1111
- 58:01in cash. He had a dime and a penny in there I
- 58:05don't know where he found the penny. I heard
- 58:06those are gone these days, but we appreciate
- 58:08it waning, almost extinct for now. That was cool,
- 58:14I got to meet Don for the first time. Yes, you
- 58:15did. I got to meet a lot of our listeners for
- 58:17the first time last Saturday. And I had the indignity
- 58:21of after meeting Sir Donald of about half an
- 58:24hour later going, and what was your name? Oh,
- 58:26come on. Don. Sir Donald of the fire bottles.
- 58:31My name is Don. I was like, oh, my bad. Thanks
- 58:35for the schmeckles. Should have done the math
- 58:37on that one. I know we, and we've had this conversation
- 58:39before where he's like, Oh yeah, my buddy Vince,
- 58:42uh, you know, he might be able to go. And I'm
- 58:43like, who the hell's Vince? I don't know. Vince.
- 58:45He's like, you've met him a few times. I was
- 58:46like, Oh, is that sir Tigger Max? And he's like,
- 58:48yeah. I'm like, Oh, okay. Stop. What are you
- 58:50using his real name for, man? Yeah. Okay. Sir
- 58:52Tigger Max. In my defense though, I had to, I
- 58:54had to learn like 12 names Saturday and I got
- 58:56him. There was Alex. There was, I lost it all.
- 59:02There was Kyle. There was a Lacey's husband.
- 59:06Who's, hold on, what's his name? Give me the
- 59:08first letter. Everything I say is made up. No,
- 59:11it's not true. She just made up a name. Lacey's
- 59:16husband is Brian. That's Brian. Brian. I was
- 59:18going to go with Ryan. I knew that wasn't quite
- 59:20right. Ryan with a B. Yes, Ryan with a B. That's
- 59:24how he introduced himself to me initially. Hi,
- 59:26I'm Ryan with a B. Sorry, Brian. All right moving
- 59:30and then here's another envelope of cash with
- 59:32the change in there as well a 33 33 from Jason
- 59:37the weightlifting Polak Who you heard all these
- 59:40folks in? Oh, yeah, Jason. Yes, you heard all
- 59:42these folks in the meetup report He looks like
- 59:45he lifts weights way to go Jason. Yes. Yes. He's
- 59:48an artist a body sculptor We appreciate the net.
- 59:52These are all these are all dudes who understand
- 59:55the value for value model. So thank you very
- 59:57Very much for the value return and you know,
- 59:59there was one more there was another there was
- 1:00:01a 20 spot on the pile and But it wasn't attached
- 1:00:06to anything. It wasn't in an envelope. There
- 1:00:07was no note So I don't know who's that $20 was
- 1:00:10but there was an extra 20 bucks in there from
- 1:00:12anonymous If you'd like to take credit, I will
- 1:00:15absolutely include you as the executive producer
- 1:00:17in the show notes me That was Matt Edwards who
- 1:00:21was nowhere near the racketeer at the time amazing
- 1:00:23good nice trick. All right, Matt Matt Edwards
- 1:00:25I am giving it to him if you'd like to send an
- 1:00:30email in and let me know who you are I will add
- 1:00:32your name to the executive producers list and
- 1:00:35Thus concluded our value for value for episode
- 1:00:3948. Do you have your? Schmeckle drop before we
- 1:00:43do second half. I'll take you down there for
- 1:00:4625 25 Schmeckles. I don't know how much I don't
- 1:00:50know what that is. Is that a lot? Is it a little
- 1:00:52are we doing a song or no? Let's skip it cuz
- 1:00:54we're running out of time, but I got a peek.
- 1:00:56So just give me 30 seconds Alrighty. It's alright.
- 1:01:00I'll talk to Matt. What's up, Matt? How you doing?
- 1:01:02I'm good This is great. This is great. Yeah,
- 1:01:06we have a good time. Yeah the story of how this
- 1:01:09came to be is rather rather goofy, but Comes
- 1:01:14to me and goes, how do you know each other? Yeah,
- 1:01:16how did that happen? Well, he knew of me before
- 1:01:18I knew of him when he came up. So he's from the
- 1:01:20Bay Area down in California. And during the covid
- 1:01:23nonsense, that's so he's always leaned more libertarian,
- 1:01:26of course, like like a lot of us and then found
- 1:01:29himself. So I'm telling his story a little bit,
- 1:01:31but it's kind of cool. You know, he's in the
- 1:01:33middle of boarding up his his pub on Main Street,
- 1:01:37San Francisco, basically boarding it up on a
- 1:01:39Friday because the following day on a Saturday,
- 1:01:41you know, twenty three thousand people are going
- 1:01:44to march for BLM. Right in the middle, of course,
- 1:01:47of when he's got to shut his business down because
- 1:01:49he's not essential and everybody has to triple
- 1:01:51mask and quadruple vax. But racist protests are
- 1:01:55considered not a threat to public health. So
- 1:01:59he's in the middle of boarding up his shop and
- 1:02:01he's like, no, this is it. I'm not doing this.
- 1:02:04This is the dumbest shit ever. So then he went
- 1:02:06to his partners and went, I'm opening or you
- 1:02:09buy me out. So they were terrified. They wouldn't
- 1:02:12do it. So they bought him out and they parted
- 1:02:14ways and him and his wife Danica came up here
- 1:02:17and and then they got into the circle with and
- 1:02:21I don't know if this name will mean anything
- 1:02:22to you or not, but Jeff Whitman and Selkirk Abbey
- 1:02:24brewing in Post Falls. So really good. That was
- 1:02:28a good orbit. That was a part of my orbit as
- 1:02:31the Bulldog pipe and cigar and then the racketeer
- 1:02:33lounge in Post Falls. And so Scott's orbit and
- 1:02:36my orbit bled together. So Scott knew of me before
- 1:02:38I knew of him. As I was in the throes of selling
- 1:02:43my shop in early 2025, he came to me and was
- 1:02:48like, you know, this is the industry I've done
- 1:02:50work in and I kind of want to get back into it.
- 1:02:52And this is the focus I want to do, which is
- 1:02:54what we're doing, you know, media deconstruction
- 1:02:56and hyper localized. And he goes, and I think
- 1:02:59you're the guy. And I kind of laughed and was
- 1:03:01like, dude, I don't even listen to podcasts.
- 1:03:03I don't know anything about podcasts. And he
- 1:03:06goes, yeah, well, you've got a voice and everything
- 1:03:08you say is made up. Everything I say is made
- 1:03:10up. Aha. There you are. You're back. I'm back.
- 1:03:14Everything I say is made up. All right. So we're
- 1:03:17going to get mileage out of that sound drop.
- 1:03:19You bastard. It's so clean too. I don't know
- 1:03:22if you're saying it live or not. That's what's
- 1:03:24the beauty. It was live. It was all part of the
- 1:03:26deal and then just pulled it right out of there.
- 1:03:27Everything I say is made up. Scott has all the
- 1:03:29power. I'm just defenseless over here. You are
- 1:03:31mad. Yeah. I can see his rig over here. It's
- 1:03:34incredible. It's got it all ready to roll. I'm
- 1:03:36the glorious burrito supreme and his burrito
- 1:03:40supreme leader of this program. Oh, hail the
- 1:03:43supreme leader. All right. So I have Scott shots
- 1:03:47for you today. Oh, all right. Let's do it. Do
- 1:03:50you want it? Well, you're going to tell me, no,
- 1:03:53I finally do the work and you don't want it.
- 1:03:55Is it an evergreen? Yeah, it's an evergreen.
- 1:03:58We can save it. Yeah, we might as well since
- 1:04:00we have Matt here. Let's save it because we have
- 1:04:01Matt here, yeah. All right. But I did have one.
- 1:04:04I have it. Thank you. Thank you for doing the
- 1:04:06work. Or you know what? This could just be a
- 1:04:09poker. This could be a bluff. You might not have
- 1:04:11done it, but you just knew I was going to say
- 1:04:12that. Oh, man. I just shoved all in, just hoping
- 1:04:16and praying we weren't going to have time for
- 1:04:18you to call my bluff. I have seven deuce options.
- 1:04:22Oh my God, please fold. Well, you might just
- 1:04:24win, you know, sometimes that just wins. Well,
- 1:04:27I did because we're moving on, aren't we? Well,
- 1:04:30yeah, let's we'll save it. Let's do. Let's see
- 1:04:33what's going to be the most. Oh, I got this one
- 1:04:38several times. So let's do that. Tell you what's
- 1:04:40the most relevant for Matt and Citizens Alliance.
- 1:04:42OK, yeah, here. I'll give you a list of three
- 1:04:44doing the Lord's work. Fair enough. Let's do
- 1:04:46three. You have three choices of what to do next
- 1:04:48year. I got Hayden canceling their contract with
- 1:04:50the KCSO with the sheriff's office. Spokane County
- 1:04:54Commissioners approving reduced permit fees for
- 1:04:57rebuilding people. Not not no fees. Reduced.
- 1:05:00You're welcome. No fees. And I have Boise schools
- 1:05:04and their enrollment. They're skyrocketing, right?
- 1:05:10Through the roof. Boiler alert. They need more
- 1:05:12money while having less students. And the reason
- 1:05:14they have less money is because they have less
- 1:05:16students. And the formula sucks. Pay more for
- 1:05:19schools. I mean, you know, any chance you get
- 1:05:22to rail on Spokane is like. All right. They're
- 1:05:28not Spokane Stan. Let's do it. This morning more
- 1:05:34help for people Whoops, sorry, that was not muted.
- 1:05:38Now you're just getting a headache. This morning
- 1:05:43more help for people impacted by the Spokane
- 1:05:45area fires and the upriver wildfire. The Spokane
- 1:05:48County Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution
- 1:05:51reducing the cost of building permit fees for
- 1:05:54homeowners. It will cover any permits associated
- 1:05:57with demolition, rebuilding, repairs and expedited
- 1:06:00reviews, which means building permits will be
- 1:06:03given priority application processing for a demolition.
- 1:06:06permit the inspection fee is now waived and for
- 1:06:09the other building permits the inspection fees
- 1:06:11are reduced by 50 % oh thank you just only half
- 1:06:16guys guess what and the timelines are moved up
- 1:06:18so it's an expedited process it's only gonna
- 1:06:21take a month to get to your thing now county
- 1:06:23commissioners say the resolutions could save
- 1:06:25some homeowners more than $600 we have a more
- 1:06:29in -depth breakdown of the costs on our way so
- 1:06:32it could it might could save some homeowners
- 1:06:36600 bucks. Oh, by the way, you owe us four grand
- 1:06:40for property taxes. Yeah. So that's cool. Thanks,
- 1:06:44Spokane, for making it real easy on the people
- 1:06:46whose homes were burnt to a crisp to rebuild
- 1:06:49and only having to pay half to you is just by
- 1:06:53fiat. They can do it, which tells us exactly
- 1:06:55what you and I already know, which is they could
- 1:06:57always have done it. We didn't need this shit.
- 1:06:59We've never needed this shit. It's just a it's
- 1:07:02just rent seeking. It's just a giant rent seeking
- 1:07:05scheme. which when anybody else does it, it's
- 1:07:07called extortion and it's illegal. When the government
- 1:07:09does it, it's just a business as usual. We're
- 1:07:12like, I mean, hey guys, you need to demo your
- 1:07:14home and build something new. That's okay. Don't
- 1:07:17worry. We're good guys. We'll, we'll wave this
- 1:07:19one for you. But these other ones, you still
- 1:07:20got to pay, but you only have here. Here's our
- 1:07:24ring. You can kiss it. It is such a great point
- 1:07:27because I've often always said, whenever it's
- 1:07:30me, mano a mano with me and some bureaucrat,
- 1:07:33and it can be in the corporate world or it can
- 1:07:36be in the government world, you kind of look
- 1:07:38across and then you go, I just want to let you
- 1:07:40know I'm not giving up and wherever I need to
- 1:07:45go for the person who has the leeway, the sort
- 1:07:50of discretion. to wave whoever's gatekeeping
- 1:07:54me yeah yeah like let's just get to that person
- 1:07:57now it'll save us both a lot of time let me speak
- 1:07:59to your manager you know because at the end of
- 1:08:02the day we are the ones that have created this
- 1:08:05we created this mess so let's all get out of
- 1:08:07it together you know who's we white man i didn't
- 1:08:10create any of this i didn't want any of it i'm
- 1:08:13still looking for the unsubscribe button i've
- 1:08:14been looking for that button the whole time you
- 1:08:16got a mouse in your pocket A printer once told
- 1:08:18me, I can't print your artwork to the edge of
- 1:08:22the page, right? The printer only, it needs a
- 1:08:25margin around it. And I said, but doesn't that
- 1:08:28seem odd to you? Like, why can't we invent a
- 1:08:31printer that does print to the edge of the page?
- 1:08:34And she looked at me like I was a complete alien,
- 1:08:39like, but that's not how they work. It can't
- 1:08:40be done. It cannot be done. No, you're out of
- 1:08:44your mind. You're just out of your mind. There
- 1:08:49is one thing that 18 years in state -run institutions
- 1:08:52has told me is that you never color outside the
- 1:08:56lines and you only use the crayons that are permitted.
- 1:09:00But you're right though, is sitting in mano a
- 1:09:02mano especially, but in any setting where you're
- 1:09:05up against the bureaucrats, which is pretty much
- 1:09:06anytime you want to build anything metaphorically
- 1:09:09or literally. It is that situation. And it's
- 1:09:12so, it is so frustrating to realize and understand
- 1:09:16that the power dynamic is so perverse and it's
- 1:09:20inverse of what it should be. And people like,
- 1:09:23well, Russell Mann is always a great example
- 1:09:25who will rattle off how perfect the system is
- 1:09:28because this is legal and that is legal and you
- 1:09:30could always do this and you could do this and
- 1:09:31property taxes are totally moral and ethical
- 1:09:33because well, it's legal. And it's like, no,
- 1:09:36dude, we're not arguing whether or not it's legal.
- 1:09:39We're arguing whether or not it should it gets
- 1:09:41ethical or moral. That's a whole nother topic,
- 1:09:43but a guy Dude, but a guy like that will tell
- 1:09:47you well You do have the power because you can
- 1:09:49vote and you can you you know have have a source
- 1:09:52say over who's in charge of the committees and
- 1:09:54the commissioners and the commissioners Create
- 1:09:56the committees and you know, so the trickle -down
- 1:09:58effect you do have the power No, you don't you
- 1:10:00sit across from these mid -level local government
- 1:10:02bureaucrats and they have more power over us
- 1:10:04than the wealthiest capitalist on planet Earth
- 1:10:07has Elon Musk isn't the one telling me I can't
- 1:10:09build a shed and paint it green. It's the county
- 1:10:12commissioners or the bureaucrats who work underneath
- 1:10:15the county commissioners who tell me that. And
- 1:10:16no matter who I vote for, that shit still exists.
- 1:10:21Zoning violations, denies business permits, shutdowns
- 1:10:24your business if your sign is too big or if you're
- 1:10:27deemed non -essential. That's the local bureaucrats
- 1:10:30doing that stuff. It's not the billionaire across
- 1:10:32the country. You should know, Paul, that when...
- 1:10:35It's the Spokane City Council. when Russell Mann's
- 1:10:37name came out of your mouth, Matt went like flying
- 1:10:41out of his chair and his earbud popped out and
- 1:10:43his eyelid twitched. He had to get a violent
- 1:10:46reaction. That was triggering. That was very
- 1:10:49triggering. Dude, that guy, I hate to give him
- 1:10:52so much attention, but he is a, he, that dude
- 1:10:54is a carpet bagger to the max. He is a, like
- 1:10:57you look up charlatan in the dictionary and that
- 1:10:59guy is there. Carpet bagger, charlatan, whatever
- 1:11:01you want to call it. Like that guy is a is the
- 1:11:05epitome of North Idaho Republican word salad
- 1:11:07bullshit. And it wouldn't be so irksome if people
- 1:11:12were people, but people take them seriously.
- 1:11:14And that's what's so irksome about it. It's like,
- 1:11:16yeah, I feel embarrassed for having taken them
- 1:11:19seriously for so long, you know, but I'm not
- 1:11:22from here. I had to learn my lesson. Well, it's
- 1:11:25because when you first meet the guy, if you can,
- 1:11:28if you never really think past the first level,
- 1:11:30he sounds genuine and intelligent. But the moment
- 1:11:32you can get past the first level and have any
- 1:11:35understanding of reality, then you realize, oh,
- 1:11:37this guy is a charlatan. What was the turning
- 1:11:40point for this moment right now? No, not based
- 1:11:43on your reaction. No, it was a phone. It was
- 1:11:46a phone conversation I had with him. Well actually
- 1:11:50was the follow -up to the phone conversation
- 1:11:51because he kept telling me that there were there
- 1:11:53were certain legislators and people that we were
- 1:11:55backing at Citizens Alliance who are full -blown
- 1:11:57white Supremacists and whatever and I said wow,
- 1:12:00I you know, they signed our pledge and all that
- 1:12:02I said Wow I said I did not know that can can
- 1:12:04you send me what you know, you know, and he sent
- 1:12:08me a plethora of documents and all of these things
- 1:12:11that showed zero. It showed other people, you
- 1:12:16know, like some city councilwoman in Spokane
- 1:12:18that that was perhaps, you know, affiliated with
- 1:12:21some weird, you know, weird offshoot of Aryan
- 1:12:23nation or whatever, but had nothing to do with
- 1:12:25the legislators here. That was Ava Schickelgruber.
- 1:12:28Yeah, I know her. OK, yeah. And so once he sent
- 1:12:31me that that had zero, I was like, oh, you're
- 1:12:33one of those people. OK, thank you very much.
- 1:12:37Here's, let's do where we're going to be bumping
- 1:12:40up against it here. Paul's got a hard out. The
- 1:12:41fact that he doesn't work for government is a
- 1:12:43shocker. Like that dude is a born bureaucrat.
- 1:12:45He is a guy who you imagine. Here's your square.
- 1:12:48Don't ever walk or paint outside the square.
- 1:12:50And don't you worry about it. It's all okay because
- 1:12:52it's legal. And no, no, you have the power, dirty
- 1:12:56plebes. I promise you, you have the power. But
- 1:12:58you just, I'm sorry, I'm hammering it because
- 1:12:59it just made me think about it. The Spokane City
- 1:13:01Council has deigned or the Spokane County Commissioner
- 1:13:04has deigned to allow property owners to do something.
- 1:13:10And everybody's like, oh, my God, you're so gracious
- 1:13:11and magnanimous. Oh, yes. Half off permits. Come
- 1:13:15on down. Half off your permit. Come on down.
- 1:13:18This week only. It would be so awesome if other
- 1:13:21people got in line like, oh, my house kind of
- 1:13:23got partially burned, too. I just want to put
- 1:13:24up an ADU. Can I do that? Can I get a half off
- 1:13:27permit did it for them? You mean we could have
- 1:13:32done this the whole time I had property rights
- 1:13:35the whole time We've had so many of these clips
- 1:13:38and they're like, oh, well see we'll just go
- 1:13:40well, you know, we'll waive the inspection Oh,
- 1:13:42so you're telling me that they're bullcrap because
- 1:13:44isn't the hospital gonna fall down now, right?
- 1:13:46Exactly. Yeah, you know you won't inspect. Okay
- 1:13:48Here is you know, I really had that click for
- 1:13:52us early in 2020 Scott this one, you know, you'll
- 1:13:56get on board with this is when after my business
- 1:13:59was finally deemed allowed to open back up in
- 1:14:02the end of June 2020, because we were closed
- 1:14:05from mid March to the end of June, taverns were
- 1:14:07the first to be closed and the last to be opened.
- 1:14:10Thanks, Mormons in Idaho. Appreciate that. Everybody
- 1:14:12else got to be open a lot. a lot or closed, I
- 1:14:16should say a lot less time or, or never, or never
- 1:14:19touched at all. Like a B like a CVS, Walgreens,
- 1:14:22Target, Costco, Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe's and
- 1:14:25all those places that just got to do whatever
- 1:14:26they wanted the whole time during the lockdown.
- 1:14:29Uh huh. Yeah. The lockdown. Remember when we
- 1:14:31were locked down. My favorite part was watching
- 1:14:35the liquor store owned by the state of Idaho
- 1:14:37still get to sell booze while I who also sold
- 1:14:40booze had to close. Good times. That was a lot
- 1:14:42of fun. But what really did it was when ABC,
- 1:14:46speaking of the liquor stores, Alcohol Beverage
- 1:14:48Control Board, run by ISP, Idaho State Police
- 1:14:51in Idaho, said, hey, you know what, guys? It's
- 1:14:53been illegal for like 20 or 30 years for reasons
- 1:14:56we can never explain, because we're tyrants.
- 1:14:58But you know what we're going to allow now to
- 1:14:59help you guys get back on your feet? Cocktails
- 1:15:02to go. You can sell cocktails to go now. Just
- 1:15:06poof. It's OK now. And then about a year and
- 1:15:10a half later in your car, don't drink it till
- 1:15:12you get home. They made it illegal again. Well,
- 1:15:15no, because what we did was we put like a sticker
- 1:15:17on it that said, this is sealed. Oh, all right.
- 1:15:21Like crime averted. There's a sticker on my lid.
- 1:15:26And then a year and a half later, give or take.
- 1:15:29then they got rid of it. They took it. They took
- 1:15:31the right back. Now you don't have this right
- 1:15:34anymore. It's illegal again. On account of society
- 1:15:36was collapsing. Society was collapsing when you
- 1:15:39were elected. Cause you know, they have to save
- 1:15:40us from ourselves. So they, we got back to law
- 1:15:43and order. It all makes sense. Yeah. Coeur d
- 1:15:46'Alene has open container laws. Post falls does
- 1:15:48not have open container laws. You just cross
- 1:15:50an imaginary line and all of a sudden I can walk
- 1:15:53on the sidewalk with a beer. And then, but if
- 1:15:56I cross an imaginary line, now I'm a misdemeanor.
- 1:15:59And it's weird because Post Falls doesn't have,
- 1:16:01I mean, Coeur d 'Alene has worse issues with
- 1:16:03drunkenness than Post Falls ever has. Well, you
- 1:16:06know what, along those lines, hey, maybe somebody
- 1:16:08got, maybe somebody had a margarita in their
- 1:16:11car when this happened. We begin tonight with
- 1:16:12a crash in Coeur d 'Alene. A car drove off the
- 1:16:14parking garage at the Coeur d 'Alene Resort.
- 1:16:16These are some photos here from Coeur d 'Alene
- 1:16:18Fire and Rescue. They tell us the car drove off
- 1:16:20the garage around 1230 this afternoon. Two people
- 1:16:24were hurt. They were taken to Kootenai Health
- 1:16:25for evaluation. This is the multi -level parking
- 1:16:28garage at the Coraline Resort and it was like
- 1:16:30the third or fourth level and it went through
- 1:16:31the railing and went onto its roof onto the ground.
- 1:16:35So clearly they got a cocktail to go or nine.
- 1:16:39It was a pretty brutal picture. Yeah it was.
- 1:16:43And now they're going to put in like concrete
- 1:16:45railings. Are they going to redo the railing
- 1:16:46system and the parking garage remains to be seen?
- 1:16:49But that's a rough afternoon for wherever that
- 1:16:51happened to. railings I mean now they're metal
- 1:16:55in that particular garage oh that's gonna change
- 1:16:59exactly here is we're running up against it here
- 1:17:01let's do the Boise schools enrollment Pure students
- 1:17:04are enrolled in Boise schools this year, a lower
- 1:17:07number than even predicted. That's creating a
- 1:17:09squeeze on district funding, which is based on
- 1:17:11how many students are in class. The Idaho Press
- 1:17:14reports Boise schools have about 700 fewer students
- 1:17:17compared to this time a year ago. Most of the
- 1:17:19decrease is coming in elementary school buildings.
- 1:17:22District officials say declining birth rates
- 1:17:24and a high cost of housing in Boise are factors.
- 1:17:27The district has seen a decline the last five
- 1:17:30years of more than 2 ,000 total students. Now
- 1:17:33do private schools and homeschooling. The birth
- 1:17:36rates in the expensive houses. How does that
- 1:17:39factor in there again? Pay more for schools.
- 1:17:42Oh, okay. Enrollment is predicted to continue
- 1:17:45to decline. Fewer students means less state funding
- 1:17:48and a larger reliance on bond revenue for property
- 1:17:51taxpayers in the district. What is the difference
- 1:17:53between those two things? Bond and... Fewer students
- 1:17:59means less state funding and a larger reliance
- 1:18:02on bond revenue for so less state funding which
- 1:18:04comes from where the state Which comes from where
- 1:18:07the taxpayer? Okay, and where's the bond revenue
- 1:18:09come from the taxpayer? Clarifying fewer students.
- 1:18:14I win No, no, it's the same. You should have
- 1:18:17a show. That's federal money. That's federal
- 1:18:19money. Oh, it's federal money Yeah, we don't
- 1:18:23worry about that. Don't worry about federal.
- 1:18:24No, no never It's like when they tried to, well,
- 1:18:28no, they didn't try. They did the push to expand
- 1:18:30Medicaid a few years back. And one of the main
- 1:18:32talking points that the pro Medicaid expansion
- 1:18:34camp used was, well, it's federal money and it's
- 1:18:37our money anyways. We might as well get it back
- 1:18:38and spend it. It's like, yeah, but you forgot
- 1:18:40the part where we're 40 % of it's unbacked by
- 1:18:42anything whatsoever. Anything like nothing. It's
- 1:18:45not backed by any kind of revenue. And so yes,
- 1:18:48it is all already quote printed out of thin air,
- 1:18:51but 40 % 40 cents of every dollar from the feds,
- 1:18:54like literally and metaphorically is printed
- 1:18:57out of thin air with nothing behind it at all
- 1:18:59of any shape, way, shape or form. So we're fine.
- 1:19:02Hooray. We got the money, but we also just indebted
- 1:19:05our children again and our grandchildren again
- 1:19:07to 40 cents on the dollar for a program that's
- 1:19:09going to go bankrupt anyways in the near future.
- 1:19:12Pay more for schools. Because every state that's
- 1:19:14done it has had the same issues. Have we all
- 1:19:18just pay our fair share? Right? That's Melissa
- 1:19:20Wintrow. It's either taxes. Win throw and extortion
- 1:19:23or its inflation. She's not kidding. We all just
- 1:19:26pay our fair share Wintro, right? We just need
- 1:19:28to pay our fair share. Yeah. Oh here Matt is
- 1:19:31writing that down. He's scribbling feverishly
- 1:19:33on his notepad. Oh our fair share. Pay your fair
- 1:19:36share, right? Here's the rest of this clip. Matt's
- 1:19:39gonna love all of your Wintro clips. You got
- 1:19:41to share all of them with them. We call her Wintro.
- 1:19:44Don't you know that? Wintro? Wintro. Yeah. Josh
- 1:19:46Tanner, who is the head of JFAC, one of the co
- 1:19:49-chairs of JFAC. Yeah. Which she sits on. Yeah,
- 1:19:52yes all the time. He just like oh, yes senator
- 1:19:55win throw He just mispronounces it. Is he doing
- 1:19:56it on purpose to dig at her or is it? I'm not
- 1:19:58gonna divulge I Call her did senator windbag.
- 1:20:06I mean these cuts are killing people literally
- 1:20:10literally. Yes. We played that clip on our literally
- 1:20:15Strong revenue from new development fees has
- 1:20:18helped keep the City of Boise's budget on track
- 1:20:20through the third quarter of this fiscal year,
- 1:20:22then ended in June. The City takes in money through
- 1:20:25taxes on sales, property, and liquor, plus fees
- 1:20:28on new development fines like parking tickets
- 1:20:31and participation fees for... Just do the list
- 1:20:33of stuff it doesn't hammer you for. It's a much
- 1:20:36shorter, much shorter list. ...for recreation
- 1:20:38programs and golf, for example. Oh, did you hear
- 1:20:40that, too? Listen to that. Like parking tickets
- 1:20:42and participation fees for recreation programs
- 1:20:44and golf. for example. Taxes pay for the services,
- 1:20:48plebs! Anyway, that'll be $180 for the football
- 1:20:51game today. And participation fees for recreation
- 1:20:53programs and golf, for example. Development impact
- 1:20:57fees through June nearly reached $28 million.
- 1:21:01The city's senior budget manager, Alicia McAndrews,
- 1:21:03expects they'll break last year's record development
- 1:21:06fee revenue of $29 million. This revenue is primarily
- 1:21:10driven by Micron, the expansion project, as well
- 1:21:13as hospital construction and other major commercial
- 1:21:17activity. That $28 million already collected
- 1:21:19is 133 % of what the city budgeted for this fiscal
- 1:21:24year. It is only about 12 % of the overall city
- 1:21:27general fund though. McAndrews says other revenue
- 1:21:29lines are within expected ranges after three
- 1:21:32quarters and expenses are also in line with predictions
- 1:21:34for the current fiscal year which ends this month.
- 1:21:39That paltry $28 million will only cover payroll
- 1:21:41for three weeks. Yeah. And yes, exactly. So that's
- 1:21:44the Boise payroll. That's all the same NPR report
- 1:21:47about how Boise school enrollment is falling,
- 1:21:49but they need more money than ever. And the only
- 1:21:51reason it's falling is because of birth rates
- 1:21:53and housing prices, even though other segments
- 1:21:56of education are going up. And then it segues
- 1:21:59right into all of the tax revenue that Boise
- 1:22:01is hammering. Just tens of millions of dollars
- 1:22:04like every week. OK, that's right. That's your
- 1:22:20national treasure, NPR. All right, we got time
- 1:22:22for one more. Never change. Let's do the Hayden
- 1:22:27cops. In North Idaho news tonight, the Hayden
- 1:22:29City Council voted to cancel the city's contract
- 1:22:32with the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office this
- 1:22:34week. That means the city won't have sheriff's
- 1:22:37deputies dedicated to patrolling its streets.
- 1:22:39Trump spoke with the city about this decision.
- 1:22:42By next week, law enforcement in Hayden could
- 1:22:44look very different because of the contract dispute
- 1:22:47between the city and the Kootenai County Sheriff's
- 1:22:49Office. Five deputies, a detective, and an animal
- 1:22:53control officer were all assigned to help protect
- 1:22:56the 17 ,000 people that live in the city, but
- 1:22:59the city council voted not to renew its contract
- 1:23:01with the Sheriff's Office, which expires in six
- 1:23:04days. With that contract not being renewed, the
- 1:23:07city will lose enhanced services, but will still
- 1:23:10remain being service by Kootenai County for public
- 1:23:14safety, law enforcement services. So the Sheriff's
- 1:23:17Office will still respond to calls in Hayden,
- 1:23:19but won't have deputies dedicated to patrolling
- 1:23:22the city. The last contract offered by the Sheriff's
- 1:23:24Office included going from five deputies to four,
- 1:23:27which would have saved the city $113 ,000. The
- 1:23:31City Council rejected it, partly because the
- 1:23:33consulting firm the city hired found more than
- 1:23:3660 % of service hours by the Sheriff's Office
- 1:23:39in Hayden were unaccounted for. They're saying
- 1:23:4261 .2 % of deputy time is unaccounted for. They
- 1:23:47can't, I mean, I can see 10 % or 15%, but 60
- 1:23:51% is unacceptable. They don't know. The Hayden
- 1:23:55City Council estimates that ending its contract
- 1:23:57with the County Sheriff's Office would triple
- 1:24:00response. Sweet, now do post falls. Please do
- 1:24:02post falls. Because they want more transparency
- 1:24:05on what their money is being spent on. The city
- 1:24:08is still leaving the possibility open for negotiating
- 1:24:11a new contract with the sheriff's office. The
- 1:24:13city administrator doesn't know how long that
- 1:24:16would take. We really are hoping that we can
- 1:24:19bring some solutions to council for consideration
- 1:24:21as soon as soon as possible, but at this point
- 1:24:24I don't have a time frame. We reached out to
- 1:24:26the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office for comment,
- 1:24:29but haven't heard back. They don't know. Okay,
- 1:24:33that'll be I'm sure in next week might be a sign.
- 1:24:35Yes. It's got to be and all this because they
- 1:24:38they they can't afford the contract They don't
- 1:24:42know yeah, or and they're there at least well
- 1:24:44and they're saying like well You're we can't
- 1:24:47afford it and in order to figure out if we can't
- 1:24:49afford it We need you to account for your time,
- 1:24:51but all of the you know overtime hours and when
- 1:24:54you're at a lemonade stand It's not being logged
- 1:24:57Yeah, so the lemonade stand thing in case you
- 1:24:59weren't again for context for you Matt and for
- 1:25:01our listeners It's actually pretty fantastic
- 1:25:03because during this whole debate back and forth
- 1:25:05between the county and and the city and Hayden
- 1:25:08going Yeah, what you know actually for in a rare
- 1:25:12occurrence here Some bureaucrats are actually
- 1:25:15kind of maybe sort of doing what they're supposed
- 1:25:16to do. Mm -hmm Although there's personal politics
- 1:25:19involved and that's why they're doing it, right?
- 1:25:21Hey, if the taxpayer wins then fine fine I'm
- 1:25:24on board and they are making a good point like
- 1:25:26why can't you guys account for 60 % of essentially
- 1:25:30what our expenses are with you guys? And the
- 1:25:34sheriff's department's response was, well, when
- 1:25:37we stopped by a lemonade stand and check in on
- 1:25:39the kids, well, we don't account for that time.
- 1:25:42So how could we possibly account for all that
- 1:25:44time? I lived in Hayden. I don't recall. You
- 1:25:49don't recall all the trans kids running lemonade
- 1:25:51stands in Hayden? No? No, it's actually boomers
- 1:25:54who are house poor who run the lemonade stands
- 1:25:56because Hayden is just all boomers with big ass
- 1:25:58houses, huge mortgages. I'm on a fixed income.
- 1:26:02Once you can't default. I'm on a fixed income.
- 1:26:04I got to run a lemonade stand. They're probably
- 1:26:07happy the cops won't be around to shut them down.
- 1:26:11We're out of time here. Let me read this quickly.
- 1:26:13I should have done this after the Boise Public
- 1:26:16Schools. I wanted to read this comment that Darryl
- 1:26:18talks. Sent a message. He said hi started listening
- 1:26:22to your podcast in New Zealand. That's no agenda
- 1:26:24universe You were talking about schools not actually
- 1:26:28being public land You know the Boise public schools
- 1:26:30and you know, they their enrollments dropping
- 1:26:32but they need more money Well here in New Zealand
- 1:26:34They mostly are and this is what you were referencing
- 1:26:37a couple episodes ago Paul about how like well
- 1:26:39the other public schools Yeah public go try to
- 1:26:41use the basketball courts Darrell talk says on
- 1:26:43the weekend You could go to a school basketball
- 1:26:45court and shoot hoops if you wanted sure there
- 1:26:47would be time to an organized My sports are using
- 1:26:49the court like a Saturday morning or whatever,
- 1:26:51but you could take the kids to a primary school
- 1:26:53playground, play on the swings. My school when
- 1:26:55I was a kid would, for a fundraiser, sell keys
- 1:26:58to the pool over the summer so families could
- 1:27:01swim on hot days. That's pretty rare now though.
- 1:27:04Another weird difference, I know a lot of older
- 1:27:06Gen X people who buy their kids land for a house.
- 1:27:09or give them a deposit to buy a new house. Not
- 1:27:12so much boomers, though. Here, all land is super
- 1:27:14expensive. It's basically impossible to buy any
- 1:27:16useful land in New Zealand for less than like
- 1:27:18$100 ,000 U .S. So he's seeing some, I guess
- 1:27:21that's kind of a big difference as they sort
- 1:27:23of think about public schools as more public
- 1:27:26in New Zealand. Thought that was interesting.
- 1:27:28My kids went to, would play in the public school,
- 1:27:31like on the weekends. The gate would be open.
- 1:27:33Really? We would go play basketball, play on
- 1:27:35the playground. I don't know if that was just
- 1:27:37that school or if it was uncommon or not. I think
- 1:27:40it's a combination of a couple different things.
- 1:27:42Number one is locality. So we could, we could
- 1:27:46do the same thing to a degree here in Clark Fork.
- 1:27:49They have an outside court, a basketball court,
- 1:27:52but there's no public access to the inside basketball
- 1:27:55court. I would know I play basketball and the
- 1:27:58guy who I usually play with is the coach for
- 1:28:00the girls, a JV team. And the only reason I see
- 1:28:04the inside of that court is because he has a
- 1:28:06key. But otherwise, no, it's tightly controlled.
- 1:28:08We can't get in to use the facilities. Meanwhile,
- 1:28:10there's a permanent bond in this district that
- 1:28:12I'm forced to fund that goes towards maintenance
- 1:28:15of that building. But I'm not allowed. So I think
- 1:28:20if they're like where the New Zealand listener
- 1:28:21here, say what? Sorry, they glitched out a little
- 1:28:25bit. Yeah, we can hear you. Can you hear us?
- 1:28:28Yeah, I can hear you. OK, finish your thought
- 1:28:30and then I'll do the outro. OK. I just admire
- 1:28:33and appreciate the consistency, at least in places
- 1:28:36like where our New Zealand listener is and where
- 1:28:38it's like, yeah, OK, if we're all going to fund
- 1:28:39it, then we all should have access to it. I don't
- 1:28:42agree with public anything. I'm a privatized
- 1:28:44everything kind of guy. But if you're going to
- 1:28:45force me to fund it, at least have the decency
- 1:28:47to let me access the damn thing. It's the same
- 1:28:49thing with public lands and national forest.
- 1:28:52A lot of people, when we talk about privatizing
- 1:28:54it, they go, no, we can't let corporations take
- 1:28:56it or people develop it. And I'm like, well,
- 1:28:58it's a Housing would be a lot less expensive.
- 1:29:01We could have some new towns come up and incorporate
- 1:29:03in lots of different places in the Northwest
- 1:29:06in particular, where most of it is national forest
- 1:29:08or state land. And you can't do anything with
- 1:29:11it, but people could live there and we could
- 1:29:14develop a lot of it. And there's hundreds of
- 1:29:16thousands of acres. So it's not like we're going
- 1:29:17to lose the forest lands here or burn down the
- 1:29:20rainforest by building a couple of extra towns
- 1:29:22and making housing more affordable. But you know
- 1:29:24what else would be cool? We'd have more access.
- 1:29:27Right now, the way it works is if the Forest
- 1:29:29Service wants to bar a road, gate off a road,
- 1:29:31and tell me I can't hunt there anymore, they
- 1:29:33can, and there's nothing I can do about it. And
- 1:29:35then they have the gall to charge me for it and
- 1:29:37call it public lands. This is, as you mentioned
- 1:29:40a episode or two ago, monopoly .com? No, no,
- 1:29:44no, no. Monopoly .gov? Ooh, where do I sign?
- 1:29:48Oh, yeah. Where do I sign? All right. See, we
- 1:29:50need a monopoly. on violence to protect us from
- 1:29:53monopolies that are less violent. Otherwise,
- 1:29:56we might be trampled upon by a cartel, you know?
- 1:30:00But 50 % off. If we agree with you, dude, who
- 1:30:05would grant us the 50 % off permits, Matt, if
- 1:30:09it wasn't for the state? Matt, where can people,
- 1:30:12what do you want people to know? Where can they
- 1:30:13find you? Well, if they're on X, find me at True
- 1:30:16Matt Edwards. It's the best spot. And Idaho Signal.
- 1:30:19Or do you just want to do personal plug? Yeah,
- 1:30:23personal personal only. I use it for work. So
- 1:30:25fair enough. He can't have the idea. It's not
- 1:30:28a good idea. Yes. I watched his last podcast
- 1:30:32with Scott Herndon and Randy Westland. That was
- 1:30:35a good one, Matt, by the way. I wanted to plug
- 1:30:36it earlier and then I forgot. I'm sorry. Good.
- 1:30:40It's all good. Matt does a lot of good work.
- 1:30:42Thanks for joining us. You're close to us. I'll
- 1:30:45be around. For sure. Please remember us in the
- 1:30:49meantime here at KnowIDShow .com. Episode 48
- 1:30:52in the can. We'll be back next week with episode
- 1:30:5449. I have three show titles that I've written
