- 1:25Speaker 4: I am going to continue to say it until it
- 1:28Speaker 4: is that. So, actually you got more snowsqualls on the way.
- 1:30Speaker 4: That laughter you hear is from meteorologist Brian Hughes is
- 1:33Speaker 4: going to join this moment momentarily also a little bit,
- 1:36Speaker 4: just a little bit. We're going to talk to our
- 1:37Speaker 4: good friend Taylor Ugh, who is the communications director for
- 1:40Speaker 4: the Clay Center in Charleston. We have a I don't
- 1:43Speaker 4: know whether she's allowed to say it yet or not,
- 1:45Speaker 4: but we have a concert announcement coming, so I want
- 1:47Speaker 4: to get her in any kind of trouble. Don't know
- 1:49Speaker 4: whether she can say it now or not, but if
- 1:51Speaker 4: she can't, she'll tell you when you can say it.
- 1:53Speaker 4: How's that? And we'll talk about some of the other
- 1:55Speaker 4: things going at the Clay Center. Danny Jones is here
- 1:57Speaker 4: and Attorney General JB. Mccusky will join us on this
- 2:00Speaker 4: show as well. Plus lots of talk around the state,
- 2:03Speaker 4: not just about the weather, but also about this sixty
- 2:05Speaker 4: minutes piece that aired about McDowell County last night. I'm
- 2:08Speaker 4: going to get into that with Danny coming up a
- 2:10Speaker 4: little bit later on. Plus we're definitely going to get
- 2:11Speaker 4: into it later today on Metro News Midday. All that,
- 2:14Speaker 4: plus your calls and text are always welcome. Big Lea
- 2:16Speaker 4: Pig League Wiggly Hotline three zero four three four five
- 2:18Speaker 4: fifty eight fifty eight, Tony the Taylor Text three zero
- 2:21Speaker 4: four nine three five five zero zero. Let's wellcome in
- 2:24Speaker 4: now the afore mentioned meteorronders Brian Hughes, how you know,
- 2:27Speaker 4: my friend, Well, just watching the radar.
- 2:30Speaker 2: No, can't see how how things are shaping up right now,
- 2:32Speaker 2: and we've got more snow in the way. We're not
- 2:34Speaker 2: done yet, but it's not going to be two obtrusive
- 2:37Speaker 2: as we go through the rest of the day unless
- 2:39Speaker 2: we get a couple of snow squalls.
- 2:40Speaker 4: And the snow squalls were kind of the big thing because,
- 2:43Speaker 4: like I was saying somebody earlier, my drive in on
- 2:45Speaker 4: the Interstate may have been hear me out on. This
- 2:48Speaker 4: may have been the worst morning so far as far
- 2:51Speaker 4: as interstate driving, right because there's not a lot to plow.
- 2:54Speaker 4: But I guess we had just gotten under one of
- 2:56Speaker 4: those snow squalls and it was pretty slick, you know,
- 2:59Speaker 4: about about seven clock or so, six forty five seven
- 3:01Speaker 4: o'clock er so this morning. But then I looked out,
- 3:04Speaker 4: just walked out just now and like the street, Virginia
- 3:07Speaker 4: Street in front of the station is completely clear now
- 3:09Speaker 4: it was not when I came in this morning, correct, Yeah,
- 3:12Speaker 4: But that's what we're you know.
- 3:14Speaker 2: The good thing is we warmed up so much, you know,
- 3:16Speaker 2: on the last in that previous week and such that
- 3:20Speaker 2: the road temperature has actually helped keep everything in check.
- 3:23Speaker 2: But what we're dealing with, you know, today is going
- 3:25Speaker 2: to be for the rest of the day, is going
- 3:27Speaker 2: to be the snow squalls that we deal with in
- 3:28Speaker 2: the lower elevations jumping the mountains. I mean, they're going gangbusters.
- 3:30Speaker 2: They've got eight nine ten inches of snow up across
- 3:34Speaker 2: parts to Nicholas County, and you get this snowshoe and
- 3:37Speaker 2: the like, and they're looking at foot and then they'll
- 3:39Speaker 2: end up somewhere around fourteen inches or so.
- 3:41Speaker 5: Back up there.
- 3:41Speaker 2: But for us down here in the valley, we are
- 3:44Speaker 2: definitely looking at those stone squalls this afternoon. That could again,
- 3:48Speaker 2: like you said, get on the interstate, you get one
- 3:49Speaker 2: of those pass by and you've got you know, nice
- 3:52Speaker 2: little white coating in some spots, and that'll make some
- 3:54Speaker 2: for some very slick spots. But the winds are going
- 3:56Speaker 2: to be out of the northwest to day, you know,
- 3:57Speaker 2: fifteen twenty five miles per hour on some of the cuffs.
- 4:01Speaker 2: And then tonight we're down into the low twenties, some
- 4:04Speaker 2: upper teens, and subspons wind chills will be in the
- 4:06Speaker 2: mid teens as we head of the nighttime hours. Still
- 4:09Speaker 2: a few light flurries overnight. I'm concerned about the flash
- 4:12Speaker 2: freeze tonight because anything that is wet this afternoon late
- 4:16Speaker 2: afternoon will become frozen. So bridges and overpasses will be
- 4:19Speaker 2: a problem.
- 4:20Speaker 4: When there's little snow going to wrap up, I mean
- 4:22Speaker 4: the possibility of the snow squalls. When do you think
- 4:25Speaker 4: on average that will wrap up here in the Canalvvalley.
- 4:28Speaker 2: In the Canal Valley, the hr r r R our
- 4:33Speaker 2: high resolution rapid refresh model that one is incredibly accurate.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Has been spawn on with a bunch of things of late,
- 4:38Speaker 2: and also the Namtory kilometer. Those are North America model.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Those are two high resolution models, and what they look
- 4:44Speaker 2: is convection posentially storms going by or snow squalls, and
- 4:48Speaker 2: those show that all the way up to eight nine,
- 4:50Speaker 2: ten o'clock tonight.
- 4:51Speaker 1: We could still have those.
- 4:52Speaker 2: By about one or two o'clock in the morning, most
- 4:54Speaker 2: of the most of the snow squalls and flurries should
- 4:56Speaker 2: be wrapping up. But again I'm concerned about the free
- 5:00Speaker 2: You know, black ice tomorrow morning is going to be
- 5:03Speaker 2: a problem.
- 5:03Speaker 6: In a number of spots.
- 5:04Speaker 4: And you called it about the school delays because I
- 5:06Speaker 4: know Knall applied them ended up closing today. I think
- 5:08Speaker 4: the majority of counties in the state, just almost all,
- 5:11Speaker 4: not all, but there were some, I mean just did
- 5:14Speaker 4: some sort of a delay or closure.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Yeah, we had forty one counties closed today or non
- 5:20Speaker 2: non traditional learning learning day. And then some of the
- 5:23Speaker 2: Eastern Panhandle which just stayed on delays, and then northern
- 5:26Speaker 2: panandle they most of those didn't close, and the majority
- 5:28Speaker 2: of them didn't. But I am surprised about the closures today,
- 5:34Speaker 2: especially as you get outside of the outside of the
- 5:36Speaker 2: Canal valley back to the west, where they've only had
- 5:38Speaker 2: an inch to maybe in a spot, or to an
- 5:41Speaker 2: inch and a half. They may be out of an
- 5:43Speaker 2: abundance of caution for this afternoon with snow squalls coming
- 5:46Speaker 2: in and such.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So I was surprised.
- 5:49Speaker 4: We've still got a ways to go, is what you're saying,
- 5:51Speaker 4: and another may maybe twelve hours.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Yeah, and the snow squalls are going to still they're
- 5:55Speaker 2: going to be limited. But here's the difference between the
- 5:58Speaker 2: snow squalls that we've had all this year and today
- 6:01Speaker 2: is today, the moisture is coming off of Lake Erie
- 6:04Speaker 2: and Lake Huron. So because we have almost a due
- 6:08Speaker 2: north wind because of the because of the the northeaster
- 6:12Speaker 2: and the blizzard that's happening across the East coast, we're
- 6:15Speaker 2: getting a due north wind in here, so that's coming up.
- 6:17Speaker 2: So the moisture is coming off of Erie and hur
- 6:19Speaker 2: On today.
- 6:19Speaker 4: All right, Brian Hughes, I appreciate it. I do one note, Yeah,
- 6:23Speaker 4: one note.
- 6:23Speaker 2: A Thursday, when we get rain in here across the state,
- 6:27Speaker 2: we're going to see three quarters and inch to inch.
- 6:29Speaker 6: That's gonna be a problem.
- 6:30Speaker 2: With the rivers as we go into the weekend.
- 6:32Speaker 4: All right, you have been warned, yes, and you have
- 6:34Speaker 4: been warned that winter is over. It is over.
- 6:38Speaker 3: This is it.
- 6:38Speaker 1: This is the second coming of winter.
- 6:40Speaker 2: We'll have another false spring because we're gonna be it's
- 6:43Speaker 2: We're gonna be like sixty three on Saturday.
- 6:45Speaker 4: Saturday. Looks great.
- 6:46Speaker 5: Oh, looks awesome.
- 6:47Speaker 4: A great day for the beach party. Yeah, we're going
- 6:49Speaker 4: to be out over at the end. Sweets for Marsha University.
- 6:51Speaker 5: Marshall's thundering heard, let's go hurd All right, I.
- 6:53Speaker 4: Ain't get out of my studio for me REALI is

- 7:07Speaker 4: now our good friend Taylor g You, the director of
- 7:10Speaker 4: communication for the Clay Center. Good morning, welcome to the show.
- 7:14Speaker 7: Good morning.
- 7:15Speaker 8: How are you guys doing.
- 7:16Speaker 4: I'm doing fine. Thank you for you know, hanging on
- 7:19Speaker 4: the line with this there because we had to get
- 7:20Speaker 4: a little weather in there and because of the weather.
- 7:22Speaker 4: You're at home and you're not in studio with us
- 7:24Speaker 4: this morning, like we had thought.
- 7:27Speaker 8: Right, I think this is the second time this has happened.
- 7:30Speaker 8: But you know what, we roll with the punches.
- 7:31Speaker 4: That's exactly right. So another another snow day here in
- 7:35Speaker 4: the Kanaw Valley. Anything in particular going on over the
- 7:38Speaker 4: Clay Center today.
- 7:41Speaker 7: Much today is a Monday, which means that the Clay Center.
- 7:43Speaker 9: Is closed, okay, yea.
- 7:45Speaker 8: Our boss office is open.
- 7:46Speaker 7: So always there to our staff is always there to
- 7:50Speaker 7: help individuals get the tickets they need for upcoming shows.
- 7:54Speaker 7: All the wonderful activities.
- 7:55Speaker 8: Going on to Clay Center, all right.
- 7:56Speaker 4: And speaking of which, and I don't know how much
- 7:58Speaker 4: you're allowed to say about this, if any thing at all,
- 8:00Speaker 4: but you teased a couple of weeks ago, you said
- 8:03Speaker 4: that there was going to be a concert announcement about
- 8:05Speaker 4: an upcoming show at the Clay Center. If you can't
- 8:07Speaker 4: tell us right now, I completely understand, because I know
- 8:09Speaker 4: some of our stations have said that it may be
- 8:12Speaker 4: like ten o'clock or so this morning, but we do
- 8:13Speaker 4: have a concert announcement coming up, like it at ten
- 8:16Speaker 4: o'clock or so this.
- 8:17Speaker 8: Morning, right, Yeah, yeah, anyone who's on our email list
- 8:21Speaker 8: to follow us on social, they'll get the update at ten.
- 8:24Speaker 8: But I feel like we you know, it's now day.
- 8:27Speaker 7: Everyone deserves a little.
- 8:29Speaker 8: Something special, So I think we can. I think we
- 8:31Speaker 8: could tell everyone give them a little up.
- 8:34Speaker 4: That's totally up to you. That's totally up because I
- 8:36Speaker 4: know how these things can go and I don't want
- 8:38Speaker 4: to get anybody in trouble. So you can wait till ten,
- 8:40Speaker 4: or you could, it's totally up to you.
- 8:42Speaker 7: I think I think we're good to go on this one.
- 8:46Speaker 7: For those of you who know the amazing multi Grammy
- 8:50Speaker 7: Award winning band and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
- 8:52Speaker 7: inductee Chicago, they are going to be making their way
- 8:56Speaker 7: to Charleston this summer.
- 8:58Speaker 4: All right, do we have a date yet?
- 9:01Speaker 10: We do?
- 9:02Speaker 8: We do.
- 9:02Speaker 7: We are bringing them in on a very special day,
- 9:06Speaker 7: West Virginia Day. That's June twentieth, seven point thirty. We
- 9:09Speaker 7: are going to be celebrating the absolutely wonderful miss of
- 9:16Speaker 7: West Virginia with.
- 9:17Speaker 8: A spectacular band that we're extremely.
- 9:22Speaker 7: Excited to be happening.
- 9:23Speaker 4: And this is a band that has been around for
- 9:25Speaker 4: a long time. I mean their first hits came of
- 9:27Speaker 4: the late nineteen sixties, and then they had a resurgence
- 9:31Speaker 4: in the early eighties with a little bit of a
- 9:33Speaker 4: different sound. It wasn't as much on the horns and
- 9:36Speaker 4: stuff as what it was a little bit more what
- 9:38Speaker 4: we call in the radio business adult contemporary sound, a
- 9:40Speaker 4: little bit softer sound, songs like You're the Inspiration and
- 9:44Speaker 4: Stay the Night and Look Away later in the eighties
- 9:47Speaker 4: and songs like that. And then as they've gone back
- 9:49Speaker 4: out they've kind of kind of got that horn sound
- 9:51Speaker 4: going again with songs like twenty five or sixty four
- 9:53Speaker 4: and does anybody know what time it is? So you know,
- 9:56Speaker 4: they're a multifaceted band. Taylor, to say the least, they
- 10:00Speaker 4: really really are.
- 10:01Speaker 7: And one of the things under that they really pride themselves.
- 10:03Speaker 8: On is that they have toured every single year for
- 10:07Speaker 8: over fifty years.
- 10:08Speaker 7: They have never missed a year of touring. So it's
- 10:12Speaker 7: something that I know that they really pride themselves on.
- 10:14Speaker 7: And they've thought, you know, multiple members of the original
- 10:17Speaker 7: band who are still out touring, which you know, for
- 10:20Speaker 7: a group that's been touring that long, that and amongst itself,
- 10:23Speaker 7: is a fantastic feed.
- 10:25Speaker 4: Indeed, it is all right and so listen to all
- 10:27Speaker 4: of our stations coming up with ten because we'll be
- 10:29Speaker 4: giving you specific information on these things. And as you said,
- 10:32Speaker 4: if you're on the Clay Center's email list, you'll be
- 10:34Speaker 4: getting information. It will be on your social media, so
- 10:36Speaker 4: a lot more information will come at ten o'clock this morning,
- 10:39Speaker 4: we invite you to listen to all of our stations
- 10:41Speaker 4: from you know, from from Superstar Country to be one
- 10:44Speaker 4: hundred to the Mountain. We're all going to have information,
- 10:46Speaker 4: maybe some ticket giveaways going on some of the stations too,
- 10:48Speaker 4: So we appreciate you letting us know that. What else
- 10:52Speaker 4: is you got coming up soon at the clay Center, Taylor,
- 10:55Speaker 4: Oh my goodness.
- 10:56Speaker 7: Well, we are rearing up for our busy season.
- 11:00Speaker 3: You know.
- 11:00Speaker 7: One of the big things that I think a lot
- 11:03Speaker 7: of people are interested in. We just announced it last week,
- 11:05Speaker 7: but we are bringing back jazz and Jumbali to the
- 11:08Speaker 7: play Center, which is a really wonderful event. We've partnered
- 11:14Speaker 7: with the African American Philanthropian Action, our local organization, Friends
- 11:20Speaker 7: of play Center. They are working together to bring this
- 11:23Speaker 7: really fantastic event. We're going to have Bob Tom from
- 11:26Speaker 7: They're performing. We're bringing in an all female brass band
- 11:29Speaker 7: from New York City that did a lot of training
- 11:32Speaker 7: and focus on brass work in New Orleans. We're going
- 11:35Speaker 7: to have fantastic food catered by ten.
- 11:37Speaker 8: Ten, So it's going to be a beautiful evening out.
- 11:40Speaker 7: In our sculpture guarding is really going to be something
- 11:44Speaker 7: special for those who are able to make their.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Way off of that.
- 11:47Speaker 4: All right, And eventually we are going to be able
- 11:49Speaker 4: to make our way out of things, and life's good.
- 11:51Speaker 4: Brian Hughes tells me life is eventually going to returned
- 11:53Speaker 4: to normal.
- 11:54Speaker 8: Right, I'm really hoping.
- 11:56Speaker 7: I'm sticking with you.
- 11:57Speaker 8: The it is sunny and.
- 11:59Speaker 7: We're I'm outside, I'm speaking into That's what I've.
- 12:02Speaker 4: Been saying all the time. Ryan, our producer, blame me
- 12:04Speaker 4: for this because I've been saying for a week and
- 12:06Speaker 4: a half it was sunny in seventy five. So then
- 12:07Speaker 4: he gave me some lecture about something about a monkey's paul.
- 12:10Speaker 4: I don't know what that meant, but he sent me
- 12:12Speaker 4: some information about it, so I'm gonna have to read
- 12:14Speaker 4: up on that later. All right, Taylor, it's always a
- 12:16Speaker 4: pleasure to have you on show us have you on
- 12:17Speaker 4: here and again a couple of weeks to update us

- 15:27Speaker 4: Welcome to the show now, State Attorney General JB. Mccusky.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Good morning, sir, and welcome to the show.
- 15:32Speaker 3: Dave.
- 15:32Speaker 14: Your promo game is on point today. Well, thank him
- 15:36Speaker 14: some elite promo reading. That was a long one.
- 15:39Speaker 4: Well, you know, I got a lot of them to read,
- 15:42Speaker 4: and so you develop a certain skill set. I don't
- 15:46Speaker 4: do well in my life, do it?
- 15:48Speaker 3: That is just as good as it gets.
- 15:50Speaker 4: A ABS man. Always be selling. That's the motto. ABS
- 15:54Speaker 4: always be selling. So have you had enough of a
- 15:57Speaker 4: wintertime yet?
- 15:59Speaker 3: Yeah? Pretty much? Okay, good kids are home from school again.
- 16:01Speaker 14: Today feels like, actually, I don't think we've had a
- 16:04Speaker 14: five day school week, and we went back and looked
- 16:07Speaker 14: a full five days since like the middle of November.
- 16:10Speaker 14: M hmm, it's February, nearly March.
- 16:14Speaker 11: Yeah.
- 16:15Speaker 4: Well, Brian, here's here's what Brian Hughes tells me. All right,
- 16:18Speaker 4: Brian says that we are going to have uh, you know,
- 16:20Speaker 4: this weekend. You know, I was talking about the beach
- 16:22Speaker 4: party over at MBC Sweets. I mean it's going to
- 16:24Speaker 4: be in the mid sixties. Sunny sky is gonna beautiful
- 16:26Speaker 4: weekend h Saturday and Sunday, and then we'll get you know,
- 16:30Speaker 4: that's what they call fall spring, and then we get
- 16:33Speaker 4: some more. Some of the biggest snows we've had in
- 16:35Speaker 4: West Virginia have been in March and April, you know,
- 16:37Speaker 4: so so keep that in mind. But I am calling it,
- 16:41Speaker 4: mister mccoskey. I'm saying we're done.
- 16:43Speaker 3: This is it.
- 16:43Speaker 14: This is it right here, this is it, this is
- 16:45Speaker 14: I feel great about it being done. I think the
- 16:47Speaker 14: groundhog was wrong, yep, as he always is. And I
- 16:51Speaker 14: think that we're going to just cruise right in the
- 16:53Speaker 14: spring and we're going to have a hell of a year.
- 16:55Speaker 4: D you end done? All right?
- 16:57Speaker 5: All right, that's right, all right?
- 16:59Speaker 4: Talking to you, Attorney General JM. Mccusky. Seriously here for
- 17:01Speaker 4: a moment. You made national news last week, Sir, when
- 17:03Speaker 4: it was announced that the State of West Virginia was
- 17:05Speaker 4: going to sue Apple over child abuse materials stored and
- 17:09Speaker 4: shared on the cloud. Talk about it.
- 17:13Speaker 3: Yeah, So.
- 17:15Speaker 14: We sued Apple because they are an outlier in the
- 17:18Speaker 14: marketplace who is not working with law enforcement and helping
- 17:22Speaker 14: to find the people who are taking and exploiting children
- 17:28Speaker 14: with photographs and helping law enforcement prosecute them. So, just
- 17:34Speaker 14: to give all of your listeners sort of an understanding
- 17:37Speaker 14: of the scope of this problem. In twenty twenty four,
- 17:42Speaker 14: Google and Meta produced to law enforcement somewhere in the
- 17:47Speaker 14: neighborhood of thirty five million child sexually explicit material photographs.
- 17:53Speaker 3: Right.
- 17:53Speaker 14: They used AI to scan the photographs that were located
- 17:58Speaker 14: in their cloud, and they help law enforcement take roughly
- 18:03Speaker 14: thirty five million of these images offline. In that same year,
- 18:07Speaker 14: Apple produced two hundred and seventy eight I think was
- 18:10Speaker 14: the number.
- 18:11Speaker 4: That's quite a disparity, sir.
- 18:14Speaker 14: Correct. And Apple markets itself as being and this is
- 18:17Speaker 14: not a bad thing. And like I've said before, you know,
- 18:19Speaker 14: my kids use Apple products, I use Apple products. I
- 18:22Speaker 14: actually appreciate a lot of the things they do around
- 18:25Speaker 14: screen time, et cetera for parents and kids. But they're
- 18:29Speaker 14: doing nothing on the other side, right, they are, and
- 18:32Speaker 14: they market themselves as being the most secure network. Right,
- 18:35Speaker 14: And so that seems like it's kind of a dog
- 18:37Speaker 14: whistle if you're somebody who is out there in this
- 18:41Speaker 14: disgustingly seedy world of child sexually explicit materials and you
- 18:46Speaker 14: either want to take these materials, or you want to
- 18:48Speaker 14: own these materials, or you want to distribute these materials.
- 18:51Speaker 14: When somebody says we are the most secure, we are
- 18:54Speaker 14: the place where you can put things that no one
- 18:56Speaker 14: will ever find them, right, and everyone knows that Google
- 18:59Speaker 14: and Facebook and dropbox, et cetera are all doing the
- 19:03Speaker 14: opposite of that. You know, it starts to be pretty
- 19:06Speaker 14: obvious that Apple is saying, hey, this is a great
- 19:09Speaker 14: place for you if you have illgal pictures. But to
- 19:12Speaker 14: be fair, backed up, hold on one thing.
- 19:13Speaker 4: Okay, yeah, one more key fact, go ahead, This one
- 19:15Speaker 4: was really important.
- 19:16Speaker 3: Yep.
- 19:17Speaker 14: So one of Apple's CEOs in twenty twenty three, when
- 19:21Speaker 14: presented with the evidence that Facebook and Google had produced
- 19:26Speaker 14: his thirty five million images, he said, they suck and
- 19:30Speaker 14: I quote Apple is the premiere platform for the distribution
- 19:35Speaker 14: of child's sexual explicit material. That is an exact quote
- 19:39Speaker 14: from a text message that he sent to his entire
- 19:41Speaker 14: executive team.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Now can I ask, I mean, I don't do anything
- 19:45Speaker 4: to jeopardize this case, but I mean, how did you
- 19:47Speaker 4: learn this about that text message?
- 19:51Speaker 14: It's actually funny? Oh, it isn't funny. None of this
- 19:54Speaker 14: is funny. I apologize, but there was a large class
- 19:57Speaker 14: action lawsuit in California where a thousands and thousands and
- 20:02Speaker 14: thousands of victims. These are kids who had their images
- 20:05Speaker 14: distributed or taken or et cetera on the Apple iCloud right,
- 20:10Speaker 14: their parents and them. Then they sued Apple, and so
- 20:13Speaker 14: there's a there's actually kind of a litany of discovery
- 20:16Speaker 14: from that private cause of action, and Apple was able
- 20:18Speaker 14: to sort of, you know, manipulate their way through the
- 20:21Speaker 14: legal process there because they weren't dealing with a state.
- 20:24Speaker 14: And so this is the first of its kind lawsuit
- 20:26Speaker 14: where a state has said to Apple, we need you
- 20:29Speaker 14: to meet us halfway here. And as you know, Dave,
- 20:32Speaker 14: you know, we live in a place where there's a
- 20:34Speaker 14: lot of vulnerable kids, probably per capita more than any
- 20:36Speaker 14: other place in the country. We've got a we've got
- 20:39Speaker 14: a substance abuse problem, we've got a child welfare problem.
- 20:41Speaker 14: And so right here, I believe that that that we
- 20:45Speaker 14: have the most duty to protect kids, especially kids who
- 20:49Speaker 14: are vulnerable, because we have so many of them, and
- 20:51Speaker 14: it's part of my job to make sure that these
- 20:53Speaker 14: kids get a chance at a better life.
- 20:56Speaker 4: Talked again with an Attorney General JB. Mccusky to Dave
- 20:58Speaker 4: Allen Show on five at Line Branch impired by Generations
- 21:01Speaker 4: Forward a hurricane. Great deals going on now on their
- 21:03Speaker 4: selection of used vehicle shopping compair any used vehicle of
- 21:06Speaker 4: Generations for dot com. But if you need service, ask
- 21:08Speaker 4: about their works package and their pickup and delivery service.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Check them out today. I just off the Hurricane Act
- 21:13Speaker 4: of I sixty four to one destination for every Generation
- 21:16Speaker 4: Generations forward Seed Dealer for details. What I was going
- 21:19Speaker 4: to say a little bit earlier was to be fair.
- 21:22Speaker 4: And again I'm not trying to defend Apple in any
- 21:24Speaker 4: of this sort of thing. But and you read that
- 21:26Speaker 4: text message. Text message was absolutely violent, disgusting. They weren't
- 21:30Speaker 4: out there marketing that. Now that it makes it right, jab,
- 21:33Speaker 4: don't get me wrong. They weren't out there. They've marketed
- 21:36Speaker 4: themselves this, But you're saying that they haven't done all
- 21:38Speaker 4: they could in the fact that they do market themselves.
- 21:42Speaker 3: I'm actually saying they were basically marketing themselves.
- 21:44Speaker 4: Okay, all right, go ahead. Ex found upon that the the.
- 21:47Speaker 14: The advertisements still say come bring your child sexually explicit
- 21:52Speaker 14: material here, but they do say this is the this
- 21:56Speaker 14: is the one place where no one's ever going to
- 21:58Speaker 14: find this right, and so you know, when everyone knows
- 22:03Speaker 14: that there's one person not doing it and ten people
- 22:05Speaker 14: doing it, and your entire marketing strategy is we have
- 22:08Speaker 14: end to end encryption. You know, we can make sure
- 22:10Speaker 14: that no one from the government ever sees any picture
- 22:13Speaker 14: you put in here.
- 22:14Speaker 3: What does that say? Right?
- 22:15Speaker 4: Yeah? Do you do you expect other states will get
- 22:18Speaker 4: involved in this or have they already?
- 22:20Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 22:20Speaker 14: I am almost certain they will and they have not.
- 22:24Speaker 14: But you know, like we've talked about before, West Virginia
- 22:27Speaker 14: and our office, we lead a lot. And you know,
- 22:30Speaker 14: you don't have to be California or New York or
- 22:32Speaker 14: Texas to be a leader. And you know, we're proud
- 22:35Speaker 14: to just take the first step so frequently on these
- 22:38Speaker 14: wildly important issues. And we will see in the next
- 22:43Speaker 14: few weeks or a couple of months how many other
- 22:45Speaker 14: states follow suit. But I'm I'm pretty sure they will.
- 22:48Speaker 4: What else has your office been up to?
- 22:50Speaker 3: What else?
- 22:50Speaker 4: Who has been taking up your time here recently?
- 22:53Speaker 8: Oh?
- 22:53Speaker 14: Man, we've been so we have a lot of our
- 22:56Speaker 14: briefing in those super fun cases that we've talked about before,
- 22:59Speaker 14: where New York and Vermont and Blue States have fined
- 23:02Speaker 14: West Virginia's energy producers upwards of seventy five billion dollars,
- 23:07Speaker 14: where West Virginia is again leading at twenty six state
- 23:10Speaker 14: coalition to find those laws on constitutionals. So we'll be
- 23:13Speaker 14: in New York and Vermont in the next couple of months,
- 23:16Speaker 14: and we have just you know, just the day to
- 23:20Speaker 14: day operation of our offices is really wild. I mean,
- 23:23Speaker 14: the Supreme Court is starting to get sort of back up,
- 23:26Speaker 14: and Adam and our office spends a lot of time
- 23:29Speaker 14: working with our Great County prosecutors in abuse and neglect
- 23:32Speaker 14: cases and all kinds of other appeals up at the
- 23:35Speaker 14: US or at the state Supreme Court. We've got several
- 23:39Speaker 14: appeals pending at the US Supreme Court. We would anticipate
- 23:42Speaker 14: probably being up there once or twice more in the
- 23:45Speaker 14: next year and a half or so. And you know,
- 23:48Speaker 14: it's just it's such an honor to have this job,
- 23:51Speaker 14: and there's so many amazing things that we get to do,
- 23:54Speaker 14: and I have so much. I have such a phenomenal
- 23:56Speaker 14: office that you know, every day is a joy to
- 23:58Speaker 14: go to work. Is why I wish my kids were
- 24:00Speaker 14: at school more often when you get there.
- 24:02Speaker 4: More we're over the I guess now over the halfway
- 24:06Speaker 4: point of the legislature, Attorney General, each individual office at
- 24:10Speaker 4: the Capitol, you know, the Constitutional officer, your office, Secretary,
- 24:12Speaker 4: State treasurer, agg on down the line. Each has their
- 24:15Speaker 4: own respective legislative priorities. How close and I have you
- 24:19Speaker 4: been keeping on the session? And what has been your
- 24:21Speaker 4: office's priorities the session?
- 24:22Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 24:23Speaker 14: So you know, I used to be a legislator and
- 24:26Speaker 14: when I was up there, I always appreciated it when
- 24:30Speaker 14: the constitutional officers would allow us to do our work.
- 24:35Speaker 14: And so you know, I've had some conversation with some legislators,
- 24:38Speaker 14: but we don't have a big agenda.
- 24:41Speaker 3: My office has all the power we need. You know.
- 24:44Speaker 14: I've asked them for a little bit of money to
- 24:45Speaker 14: hire a few more lawyers, but that's really it. And
- 24:49Speaker 14: you know, our office ends up defending a lot of
- 24:54Speaker 14: the stuff that the legislature does, and so I try
- 24:57Speaker 14: to let them do their work without me getting involved
- 25:00Speaker 14: in it too much, and really respecting that this sixty
- 25:03Speaker 14: days is about them and if they need something for me,
- 25:06Speaker 14: they ask, and when they ask, I answered the question.
- 25:09Speaker 1: But I.
- 25:10Speaker 14: Like to let them do their thing during the session,
- 25:12Speaker 14: and then at the end of it we work on
- 25:17Speaker 14: the piece of the legislation that might get challenged and
- 25:19Speaker 14: how I can help them make sure that they stay law,
- 25:21Speaker 14: which is exactly what happened in the Saved Women's Sports case,
- 25:24Speaker 14: which you know we talked about a lot last few months.
- 25:27Speaker 4: Before we let you go. I want to go back
- 25:28Speaker 4: to this Apple story for a moment. Do you and
- 25:31Speaker 4: you talked about the work that the Meta and some
- 25:35Speaker 4: of these other carries have done. Do you see a
- 25:39Speaker 4: problem with any other services? I mean, you know there's
- 25:41Speaker 4: so many out there, Rumble, Telegram, Amazon, web service, I mean,
- 25:46Speaker 4: just so many out there. Do you say this as
- 25:48Speaker 4: being a problem toward any others or is this primarily
- 25:50Speaker 4: an Apple issue in your opinion?
- 25:52Speaker 14: So there will be other defendants eventually. Apple is just
- 25:57Speaker 14: so ubiquitously big, Yeah, and so the scope of the
- 26:01Speaker 14: problem is so much bigger with Apple. In an environment
- 26:04Speaker 14: where you have somewhat limited resources, somewhat limited time, you
- 26:08Speaker 14: really need to take the biggest bites of the Apple
- 26:10Speaker 14: that you can at first and try to help as
- 26:13Speaker 14: many people as quickly as possible, and then you can
- 26:16Speaker 14: start to work on some of the smaller problems when
- 26:18Speaker 14: you get done.
- 26:19Speaker 4: Tourney, General J. M. McCuskey, always a pleasure to have
- 26:21Speaker 4: you on the show, and we will talk to this.
- 26:24Speaker 4: I would say, you know, try to enjoy the snow,
- 26:26Speaker 4: but this is just a nuisance snow. I mean, it's
- 26:28Speaker 4: basically useless snow for snowmen.
- 26:30Speaker 14: It's not enough snow for sledding. It's really not enough
- 26:33Speaker 14: snow to cover the roads. Yeah, but it is decidedly.
- 26:36Speaker 3: Enough snow to keep me at home and make sure
- 26:38Speaker 3: my kids don't burn down my house. There you go.
- 26:40Speaker 4: That's always a good thing. All right. We'll talking in soon.
- 26:42Speaker 4: My friend, thanks a lot, Dave, thank you, thanks a lot.

- 30:42Speaker 4: I think here is what I'm thinking. This is what
- 30:45Speaker 4: I'm trying to get in the head of people here.
- 30:47Speaker 4: I'm thinking, because you know, JB talked about them. I'm sorry,
- 30:49Speaker 4: Attorney General JB. McCuskey talked about this suit he's filed
- 30:52Speaker 4: against Apple because Apples has in some cases text messages
- 30:58Speaker 4: have been turned over about their ability to hide things
- 31:02Speaker 4: in the cloud like child pornography and things like that.
- 31:06Speaker 4: And so I guess what the textures are trying to
- 31:08Speaker 4: say is is if he's going to go after a
- 31:10Speaker 4: national or an international company like that, that maybe he
- 31:14Speaker 4: should be as concerned about President.
- 31:17Speaker 5: Trump and maybe he has enough on plate.
- 31:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:21Speaker 4: Well, I mean it would be suicide in West Virginia
- 31:25Speaker 4: for any Republican to speak out against the general. Yeah,
- 31:29Speaker 4: against Donald Trump. I mean, I'm just saying from a
- 31:31Speaker 4: political standpoint. You can say what's right or wrong or whatever,
- 31:33Speaker 4: but I'm saying from a political standpoint, it would be
- 31:36Speaker 4: you're burning the Midnight oil Man because you were in
- 31:38Speaker 4: California yesterday. You text me yesterday You're in California, And
- 31:41Speaker 4: here you are in Charleston looking outside this morning. Don't
- 31:44Speaker 4: you wish you were back in California?
- 31:45Speaker 5: Oh yeah, Oh wow. When I got in last night,
- 31:48Speaker 5: it was about eleven o'clock and it was blowing snow
- 31:52Speaker 5: up the airport. Yeah, and I thought I came back
- 31:55Speaker 5: to you.
- 31:56Speaker 4: So I'm gonna say, you step off that plane and go.
- 31:58Speaker 4: You know, I screw this back on the plane again.
- 32:00Speaker 4: I'm going back to California.
- 32:02Speaker 5: It was the weather out there, as it's always wonderful, Sonny.
- 32:05Speaker 4: In seventy five, I've said every morning at the top
- 32:08Speaker 4: of the show until it is one day it will
- 32:09Speaker 4: be Sonny in seventy five, but Brian Hughes tells me
- 32:12Speaker 4: not today because we got more snow on the way.
- 32:14Speaker 4: These snow squalls are going to continue to roll through
- 32:16Speaker 4: throughout the day today. So I want to start with
- 32:19Speaker 4: the story this morning. I'm gonna get your opinion's lead
- 32:21Speaker 4: story this morning wv Metronews dot com. Judge Joseph Goodwin,
- 32:26Speaker 4: US District Judge of the Southern District wrote an order
- 32:29Speaker 4: that basically calls out ice. Now, let me give you
- 32:31Speaker 4: the background here in case she Hamrick read the story.
- 32:33Speaker 4: The case involves a twenty one year old guy from
- 32:36Speaker 4: El Salvador. He entered the country as an unaccompanied miner
- 32:41Speaker 4: and was placed in the care of Department of Health
- 32:43Speaker 4: and Human Services through its Office of Refugee Settlement. He
- 32:48Speaker 4: has a pending asylum application and is legal to work
- 32:53Speaker 4: in the US. Has a valid driver's license. He was
- 32:56Speaker 4: stopped in Western Dean last month while driving. He was
- 32:59Speaker 4: stopped apparently they said he had a plastic cover on
- 33:02Speaker 4: his license plate. Basically it was an equipment issue, not
- 33:05Speaker 4: like a traffic but like he wasn't speeding or anything
- 33:07Speaker 4: like that. Was not in a traffic violation. The guy
- 33:09Speaker 4: was ordered out of the car by mask men handcuffed. Now,
- 33:13Speaker 4: Judge Goodwin says the guy's constitutional rights were violated, and
- 33:18Speaker 4: you can read the entire story on the website. Bottom
- 33:21Speaker 4: line is, again, according to Judge good One, this guy's
- 33:24Speaker 4: constitutional rights were violated. I agree, And your thoughts on
- 33:29Speaker 4: the whole thing, I agree.
- 33:32Speaker 5: What's this phobia with all these immigrants. It's there's clusters
- 33:37Speaker 5: of him and places that are causing trouble, like up
- 33:41Speaker 5: in Minnesota with Smalli's but is this a minor?
- 33:46Speaker 1: No, he was.
- 33:47Speaker 4: He came here as a miner. He's an adult. I
- 33:50Speaker 4: was twenty one. He came here as a miner un
- 33:53Speaker 4: a company, which probably means he came in with what
- 33:56Speaker 4: he's supposed to do with a large and well he
- 33:58Speaker 4: has about the government. US government him a valid driver's license,
- 34:02Speaker 4: gave him a work permit, and he got pulled over
- 34:05Speaker 4: by ice. Well, I don't, I don't that, I don't know.
- 34:09Speaker 4: I mean, but but he was here, he was here
- 34:12Speaker 4: as a documented worker, he had the work. I mean,
- 34:14Speaker 4: I'm assuming yes, I'd hate to assume things. I'm assuming yes,
- 34:17Speaker 4: he had a he had a right to be here.
- 34:20Speaker 4: As I said, the government of the US gave him
- 34:21Speaker 4: a valid driver's license, He had a work permit, you know,
- 34:24Speaker 4: to be here. And he was pulled over. Not by
- 34:28Speaker 4: deputies or not by the state police. He was pulled
- 34:30Speaker 4: over by ice, you know, which leads me to ask
- 34:36Speaker 4: the question, well, if he had this problem with his
- 34:40Speaker 4: license plate, as they said, wouldn't that be more along
- 34:43Speaker 4: the purview of the of the sheriff's department, city police
- 34:46Speaker 4: wherever it happened to pull him over. It wasn't a
- 34:48Speaker 4: traffic stop. It was an equipment issue, Judge Goodwin, and
- 34:51Speaker 4: there's Brad links it in his story wv Metronews dot com.
- 34:54Speaker 4: You can read the entire legal leads in their Danny
- 34:57Speaker 4: but basically says this was unconstitutional.
- 35:00Speaker 5: Where's the guy? Now?
- 35:01Speaker 3: Do we know? I did?
- 35:03Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 35:04Speaker 5: I'd have to read the entire it's a long story.
- 35:06Speaker 5: It's a long but he was legally here, right and
- 35:11Speaker 5: he came here as a minor. And you know that
- 35:17Speaker 5: advertisement that Christy Noan did and she said go back
- 35:21Speaker 5: to Mexico and we'll put you in line for to
- 35:24Speaker 5: get in here. Well, see me, I believe in that.
- 35:29Speaker 5: I believe in immigration, and especially Mexico because out west,
- 35:38Speaker 5: you know, they don't gather at home depot anymore like
- 35:41Speaker 5: they used to. And you wait the price of the
- 35:44Speaker 5: lettuce when it comes to not having these people to
- 35:51Speaker 5: pick the lettuce.
- 35:52Speaker 4: It's just it's ridiculous for those who don't know the
- 35:54Speaker 4: home depot reference. And I saw this for the first
- 35:57Speaker 4: time a couple of years ago in Greensboro, North Carolina. Uh,
- 36:00Speaker 4: my brother in law made a trip to and I
- 36:02Speaker 4: went out to a home depot and there were groups
- 36:05Speaker 4: of I mean, I'm presuming immigrants that were just standing there.
- 36:09Speaker 4: And I asked my brother in law, I said, what
- 36:11Speaker 4: what's the deal here? And he said they they basically
- 36:13Speaker 4: they show up at your low's home depot or whatever,
- 36:16Speaker 4: and a guy will come up and say you you
- 36:20Speaker 4: you not you kind of a thing, getting the truck
- 36:22Speaker 4: kind of a thing, sure, and uh and take them
- 36:24Speaker 4: out to work and then and then bring them back.
- 36:26Speaker 4: That's that's what Deven Kese you're wondering. That's what Danny's
- 36:29Speaker 4: referring to.
- 36:29Speaker 16: Now.
- 36:29Speaker 5: George w said that they're doing work that we don't
- 36:32Speaker 5: want to do. That's exactly what's going on here, right.
- 36:36Speaker 5: I'm I just my views on that are just totally
- 36:40Speaker 5: out of.
- 36:40Speaker 4: Are your views on that because you spend time in
- 36:42Speaker 4: California or were you your views like it? Would your
- 36:45Speaker 4: views be like that? Because I mean, let's I mean,
- 36:47Speaker 4: Danny here, you and I agree on a whole lot politically.
- 36:50Speaker 5: Are they Are they a thread here?
- 36:51Speaker 4: And that's I mean apparently if you know, apparently they're
- 36:56Speaker 4: if you're illegally making Kso, yes, that's Caso, the chief
- 37:00Speaker 4: New Mexican restaurants.
- 37:03Speaker 3: I know.
- 37:03Speaker 5: They went to Miguel's down there in Nitro. Yeah, they
- 37:07Speaker 5: were on the roof. That's a roof I put on
- 37:11Speaker 5: that building, by the way, on the roof of that building.
- 37:16Speaker 5: And I called mcguil to see if he needed me,
- 37:21Speaker 5: you know, to come down speak for him or anything.
- 37:23Speaker 5: And he said no, that I had to go back
- 37:26Speaker 5: to work. Yeah, yeah, you know, he's in the sixties
- 37:29Speaker 5: now he has so he has start cooking again.
- 37:33Speaker 4: But I think here and the majority of the the
- 37:40Speaker 4: majority of people have said in America, regardless of political
- 37:45Speaker 4: it's not a great number, but it is a majority,
- 37:47Speaker 4: regardless of political persuasion, regardless of your party, the majority
- 37:51Speaker 4: of people in America do not like this administration's stance
- 37:55Speaker 4: on immigration. I mean, that's Republican, Democrat, rich, poor, red state,
- 37:58Speaker 4: blue state. Well, it's over sixty percent according to the
- 38:02Speaker 4: latest poll that they don't agree with the way that
- 38:05Speaker 4: the Trump administration is had. They also didn't agree with
- 38:07Speaker 4: the way that Biden opened up the border.
- 38:09Speaker 5: So they that was ridiculous, absolutely, and that's why we
- 38:14Speaker 5: we have what we have now with the flood of immigrants.
- 38:18Speaker 5: And they weren't they weren't just coming from Mexico. They
- 38:21Speaker 5: were coming from Red China, and they were coming from Iran.
- 38:26Speaker 5: I mean, they were coming from everywhere.
- 38:27Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, so to be consistent, this is a
- 38:31Speaker 4: greater number of people had an issue with the way
- 38:34Speaker 4: Biden handled the border than they do with the way
- 38:36Speaker 4: that Trump is.
- 38:36Speaker 5: Handled with Trump I believe gets an a plus on
- 38:40Speaker 5: handling the border.
- 38:41Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm a lot of people agree with that.
- 38:44Speaker 3: We got a call.
- 38:44Speaker 4: Let's go to don You're on with Danny Jones.
- 38:46Speaker 9: Go ahead, Hey, how are you all today?
- 38:50Speaker 4: Don't find sir?
- 38:51Speaker 3: How are you? Yeah?
- 38:52Speaker 9: Pretty good? Hey, Danny, you're conflating illegal immigrants with immigrants.
- 38:55Speaker 9: You said you don't see what all the problem is
- 38:57Speaker 9: with the immigrants now other people like it or not.
- 39:01Speaker 9: The illegal immigrants skew our national elections. And it's not
- 39:07Speaker 9: through voting, it's through census. Now, if you want to say, hey,
- 39:10Speaker 9: you've got to be a citizen before you're counted in
- 39:12Speaker 9: the census, then everything's fine. Of course, the blue areas,
- 39:16Speaker 9: blue states will go broke supporting their illegal immigrants without
- 39:19Speaker 9: getting federal tax dollars. That wouldn't they That includes your
- 39:22Speaker 9: precious California.
- 39:26Speaker 5: Coming from a state that gets a disproportionate amount of money, yes,
- 39:32Speaker 5: from the federal government, and that's not due to illegal Now,
- 39:36Speaker 5: don you asked me a question. You and I and
- 39:42Speaker 5: Dave come from a state that gets a disproportionate amount
- 39:45Speaker 5: of money federal money, more per capita than California or
- 39:50Speaker 5: any of these other states. And so i'm it just
- 39:58Speaker 5: doesn't worry me that just and bother me. I understand
- 40:01Speaker 5: it's not perfect and nothing is.
- 40:03Speaker 9: But uh, once again, it skews our national elections. Michigan
- 40:10Speaker 9: wouldn't have the number of people in the House of
- 40:13Speaker 9: Representatives they would California wouldn't if it weren't for the
- 40:16Speaker 9: large population of illegal immigrants.
- 40:19Speaker 5: Now surely you know that, and your answer is what.
- 40:25Speaker 9: Just stop counting them in the census and we'll see.
- 40:29Speaker 9: We'll see how quickly they start getting deported, the illegal ones.
- 40:36Speaker 5: They answered, the immigration problem?
- 40:38Speaker 3: Is this.
- 40:40Speaker 9: Talking about immigration? We're talking about illegal immigrants.
- 40:43Speaker 5: And I'm talking about that too. There was a bill
- 40:47Speaker 5: in two thousand and six by George W.
- 40:49Speaker 3: Bush.
- 40:50Speaker 5: I talked to Nick deverray all about this the other
- 40:52Speaker 5: day because he remembered it to take all the immigrants
- 41:00Speaker 5: legal immigrants and let them have green cards and that
- 41:07Speaker 5: registers them. And if you when you register them, then
- 41:11Speaker 5: you can do a background on them, and if they
- 41:14Speaker 5: got a criminal record, then you deport them. But if
- 41:17Speaker 5: they don't have a criminal record and they're here, even
- 41:20Speaker 5: if it's illegal, give my green curtain. Let I'm going
- 41:22Speaker 5: to work.
- 41:24Speaker 3: What was it that?
- 41:25Speaker 9: Also other stipulations that the border would be locked down, Well,
- 41:29Speaker 9: I think I think the same thing happened under the
- 41:31Speaker 9: reagular administration. He agreed to that if the border was secure,
- 41:36Speaker 9: and the border never got secured.
- 41:38Speaker 5: Well, the borders secure now, and I just gave your
- 41:40Speaker 5: president an A plus.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Hold on, hold on now.
- 41:46Speaker 9: I've never voted for Trump, not voted for G. W.
- 41:49Speaker 3: Brush.
- 41:51Speaker 9: So if you can't. Don't hang me either, one of
- 41:53Speaker 9: them on me?
- 41:56Speaker 3: Who can?
- 41:56Speaker 9: I ask you?
- 41:58Speaker 4: You don't have to tell me. But if you didn't
- 42:00Speaker 4: vote for Trump, who did you? And if you don't
- 42:01Speaker 4: want to tell me, that's fine.
- 42:03Speaker 9: I didn't vote, okay, all right.
- 42:05Speaker 5: I voted for the the last three the last three
- 42:10Speaker 5: presidential elections, and I voted for the libertarian candidate. And
- 42:16Speaker 5: I was on a podcast and we were talking about
- 42:19Speaker 5: the issues of gay rights and everything, and I said,
- 42:23Speaker 5: I voted for the libertarian candidate in twenty twenty four
- 42:27Speaker 5: and I didn't realize he was gay.
- 42:30Speaker 4: I mean, so doing what didn't make a difference to me.
- 42:33Speaker 5: It doesn't now I'm a city guy.
- 42:37Speaker 4: Stop that again, DONALDO. What I'm gonna do. What we
- 42:40Speaker 4: gotta go, but I'm gonna give you the last thirty seconds.
- 42:42Speaker 4: Go ahead.
- 42:43Speaker 9: He's not my president. He is our president. And if
- 42:47Speaker 9: you don't like it, Danny, you know where you can go.
- 42:50Speaker 5: All right, don all.
- 42:51Speaker 4: Right, don We appreciate your phone call. Don Thanks for
- 42:54Speaker 4: the call, Thank you, don O. MG Trump Trump Trump

- 43:07Speaker 5: No, you're the people you're going to be seeking. You

- 46:57Speaker 3: Let us picking and all this stuff and illegals. Most
- 47:00Speaker 3: produced in the US is produced mechanically. But let's talk
- 47:04Speaker 3: about something effects West Virginia. Everybody relate to this. Hire
- 47:08Speaker 3: bills going up and up, up, electric bills going up
- 47:10Speaker 3: and up and up. It ties into illegal immigration. And
- 47:15Speaker 3: I'm all for legal immigration, don't get me wrong, but
- 47:18Speaker 3: I can tell you firsthand what's going on. They say
- 47:20Speaker 3: they want they're doing jobs that Americans won't do. I
- 47:24Speaker 3: disagree with that wholeheartedly. All right call because the pier
- 47:29Speaker 3: company put in a four hundred and forty million dollars
- 47:33Speaker 3: five year surcharge for clearing right aways. It is all documented,
- 47:39Speaker 3: and I talk firsthand some of the guys that were
- 47:41Speaker 3: doing they do it on prevailing wage. One of the
- 47:44Speaker 3: couple of companies. It's all union labor. You know, twenty
- 47:47Speaker 3: five twenty four dollars an hour they did that that
- 47:52Speaker 3: we paid for that twenty four dollars an hour work
- 47:55Speaker 3: Aspen come in, one the largest clear cutting company treecreaming
- 47:59Speaker 3: companies around come in and contracted that work. Brought in hundreds,
- 48:03Speaker 3: if not thousands, of illegal immigrants just been four or
- 48:06Speaker 3: five years ago, illegal immigrants on a four year contract.
- 48:09Speaker 3: They were all over Charleston area, West Virginia cutting right aways.
- 48:14Speaker 3: Those guys were illegal in their goods. They were getting
- 48:17Speaker 3: paid seven and eight dollars an hour.
- 48:19Speaker 4: Can I ask you just real quick. I don't want
- 48:20Speaker 4: to direct you, but can I ask you? How do
- 48:21Speaker 4: you know they were illegal immigrants? So there's a reason
- 48:23Speaker 4: I'm asking, But go ahead.
- 48:25Speaker 3: One I stopped and talked to them.
- 48:27Speaker 4: Okay, that's fair enough, and yeah.
- 48:30Speaker 3: Because they were in the areas where I was working,
- 48:32Speaker 3: and they told me there was only one of them
- 48:34Speaker 3: to speak English, and they're from Guatemala and Honduras, different companies.
- 48:38Speaker 3: And I don't fault those guys a bit. If there's
- 48:40Speaker 3: one hundred dollars laying on the ground and well, I
- 48:42Speaker 3: don't see if they drop it, we'll want to pick
- 48:44Speaker 3: it up. Yep. And they're trying to better themselves. And
- 48:46Speaker 3: I don't fault that one bit. But the problem is
- 48:49Speaker 3: there was a big ninety million dollar lawsuit award against
- 48:53Speaker 3: asking for to the Department of Waiver Federal for doing
- 48:57Speaker 3: this work with the illegals and not doing it correct
- 49:00Speaker 3: and they had all these illegals working on it's all documented.
- 49:03Speaker 3: The problem is this, we always say they're doing jobs
- 49:07Speaker 3: as Americans won't work, don't do And I've talked to that.
- 49:10Speaker 3: I know personally people that work for Ashmen that were
- 49:12Speaker 3: on unemployment, put out of work and laid off. When
- 49:15Speaker 3: they brought these illegals in here under the table, pay
- 49:19Speaker 3: them cash. They were doing it a lot of Joe.
- 49:24Speaker 5: Let me ask you a question, how does ask them
- 49:26Speaker 5: surface what kind of money along during operations that they
- 49:31Speaker 5: have going on that they can surface cash to pay
- 49:35Speaker 5: these people in cash.
- 49:37Speaker 4: And let's keep in mind that this is a company.
- 49:39Speaker 4: We're talking about a private company, So let's let's don't.
- 49:41Speaker 9: Get us out.
- 49:42Speaker 3: It's one of the largest.
- 49:43Speaker 4: But I'm saying let's don't get us sued here. Okay,
- 49:46Speaker 4: let's keep that in mind.
- 49:47Speaker 3: Well, there was a federal lawsuit from the Federal Department
- 49:51Speaker 3: of Labor. Look it up, ask them to find ninety
- 49:54Speaker 3: billion dollars. Okay, they were, they were fined for it.
- 49:57Speaker 3: It's all documented. So that the premise that we got
- 50:00Speaker 3: people coming in here, and I mean, if you want
- 50:03Speaker 3: a cheap, cheap roof, there's all kinds of them all
- 50:06Speaker 3: over West Virginia that are working for cash. They're not
- 50:10Speaker 3: paying wage bonds, and they're not paying any the school systems,
- 50:13Speaker 3: they're not paying taxes. And I'm all for illegal immigrations,
- 50:17Speaker 3: but what happens is you bring in all these illegals.
- 50:20Speaker 3: They're not vetted, they're not documented, so they work for cash,
- 50:23Speaker 3: and they really rob for me and you. They make
- 50:26Speaker 3: our power bills go up, they do all this stuff.
- 50:29Speaker 3: And big companies are profiting off this. Okay, corporations, all right, Joe,
- 50:33Speaker 3: we got to leave it there. I appreciate your phone call.
- 50:35Speaker 4: Thanks lot. I will say I will say this though,
- 50:38Speaker 4: that I got to and I brought up a good
- 50:40Speaker 4: friend of mine who has a has a company here
- 50:43Speaker 4: in the Canal Valley that does employ a lot of
- 50:45Speaker 4: folks from their primarily Mexico. They're not West Virginia, they're
- 50:49Speaker 4: not US citizens. However, they're also not here illegal, Ureen card.
- 50:54Speaker 4: They have work permits and they go back home during
- 50:57Speaker 4: the winter and come back. Then he hires them because
- 51:00Speaker 4: he can't get Americans to do the work. I'm not
- 51:01Speaker 4: discounting what that last called.
- 51:03Speaker 5: You're saying, still let us fields in California with the
- 51:06Speaker 5: Mexicans doing the work. I think what Joe and I
- 51:10Speaker 5: are talking about maybe two different things.
- 51:12Speaker 3: But I.
- 51:15Speaker 5: I just think it ought to be if you have
- 51:18Speaker 5: a guy that wants to work and he's in this country,
- 51:20Speaker 5: and you can do a background on him, get him
- 51:22Speaker 5: a green cards.
- 51:23Speaker 4: Texays Okay, that's really starting to get old with trying
- 51:26Speaker 4: to justify letting all these people stay here by repeatedly spewing, well,
- 51:29Speaker 4: do you know how much this is going to cost?
- 51:30Speaker 4: You know how much it's going to cost. Let's all
- 51:32Speaker 4: just ignore the constitution and ignore the rule of law.
- 51:34Speaker 4: Look at parts of Michigan, Minnesota, and Texas Islamic communities
- 51:37Speaker 4: have taken over. That is the problem, says a Texture,
- 51:40Speaker 4: And you would say, what, Dan, We're talking about two
- 51:43Speaker 4: different things, all right, Dave and Danny. President Trump is
- 51:46Speaker 4: keeping his promise to close the border and deport the
- 51:48Speaker 4: illegal ones, especially the criminal illegal's best president I've ever seen,
- 51:51Speaker 4: says a texture. Okay, but you said you agree with
- 51:55Speaker 4: Trump on this year plus A PLUSUS, but not necessarily
- 51:59Speaker 4: the ice part of it.
- 52:00Speaker 5: All right, No, I'm with Judge Goodwin.
- 52:02Speaker 9: All right.
- 52:03Speaker 4: Well, we didn't even get into talking about term limits
- 52:05Speaker 4: or for the city of Charleston. I wanted to get
- 52:07Speaker 4: into that also. I'm also also wanted to talk a
- 52:11Speaker 4: little bit about Hoppy's commentary. He's going to be on
- 52:14Speaker 4: the show later today. He's got issues with the president.
- 52:17Speaker 4: Imagine that about what was said Friday after the Supreme
- 52:20Speaker 4: Court decision on tariff. So we'll get into that on
- 52:22Speaker 4: Metro News Midday. DJ Menows and Dave Wilson coming on
- 52:25Speaker 4: the Metro News talk line. I'll be back flying the
- 52:27Speaker 4: ship solo today on midday till then, have fun and
- 52:30Speaker 4: love SOMEBODYSAM.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Ninety six point five stick one O four point five
- 52:51Speaker 1: Cross Lane by WVRC Media Station.
- 52:56Speaker 4: We're proud to live here too.
