- 0:00Entrance for Chris Daily, the associate coach of the Huskies, who did not
- 0:04wear the Christmas sweater. Tan. Yes, actually it is, Actually it
- 0:08is. They're sparkle to it. Yes, yes, yes, And I've
- 0:11got velvet pits and I like the ear rings. Yeah. So what do
- 0:14you say? What are you? What are you talking about? Not the
- 0:16ugly? Ugly? I was thinking I didn't do the ugliest sweater. No,
- 0:19that's not you, though, That's so not you. This is it,
- 0:22that's so not you. Very nicely. Hey, twelve threes in the
- 0:26game. Don't tell anybody that's a season high. Was that? What for
- 0:29your tea? We came up, how many get ten? Yes? Maybe
- 0:33you know what it's so. I actually could feel for Tony because the one
- 0:36kid is shooting fourteen percent from the three point line and she made two.
- 0:40I think number three is not a three point shooter. The point guard the
- 0:43lefties, she made one. At one point in the first half, they
- 0:46were shooting seventy percent from the Yeah, three, all right, you mentioned
- 0:50that. Okay, Norman came in three of twenty one, she made a
- 0:53pair, Wiggins was three of eighteen, she made one, and Jane's was
- 0:57three of eleven she made well, I still have the record because the girl
- 1:00at North Carolina, she was over thirteen and she made one and all year.
- 1:07Yeah. Oh that was also my scout. So I have a way
- 1:11of helping people's confidence when I say they can't shoot and then they do well.
- 1:17The offense is in a pretty good, pretty good spot right now.
- 1:19Well, you know what, I thought it was our defense really in the
- 1:23in the second half, especially where we kind of took control of the game
- 1:27and forced them into some turners and we didn't turn the ball over offensively.
- 1:33We got She's and I thought, honestly, in the first half, I
- 1:36thought we got caught up in the They shot a three and we shot a
- 1:38three. Not that we weren't necessarily open, but that was not necessarily every
- 1:42one of those shows. You know, you want threes within what you're trying
- 1:47to do by the players that you want to take them, and I thought
- 1:49some of the threes in the first half were quick threes. But then we
- 1:53kind of balanced that out and got good looks. And you know, Ashton
- 1:57played very well and she her pull up is all automatic, and she's actually
- 2:02turned out to be a much better three point shooter than probably what her reputation
- 2:06was coming in to college, known more as a as a pull up,
- 2:10you know, mid range game player, and she's really been as consistent as
- 2:14anyone from the three point lone. Were you happy with the consistency, you
- 2:17knowing that good four quarters against Louisville carried into another consistent four quarters tonight.
- 2:24Well, I still think that four quarters against Louisville were probably more consistent than
- 2:30what we had tonight. I thought we started out a little slow or you
- 2:35know, but maybe I'm just being picky, maybe being the grinch, I
- 2:39should have worn that sweater, right, But yeah, I think we've had
- 2:44three games in a row now where there was a consistency that we hadn't had
- 2:49in other games. So hopefully we are building on that. I thought Aubrey
- 2:53gave us good minutes. Again, I thought, Nico, who's really under
- 2:58the weather? Yeah, I wondered about that. Even warm up she looked
- 3:01a little Yeah, well she didn't come out that with them the second time
- 3:05they came out, or actually the twenty minute warm up, she wasn't available,
- 3:09so and then she left the bench not feeling well. So let her
- 3:14play. Yeah, but she knocked in, you know, I thought for
- 3:19someone being under the weather, you would have known unless you pay a lot
- 3:22of attention. So but she gave us good minutes everybody. I thought,
- 3:24you know, Q came in at the end of the half and right off
- 3:28the bench knocks into three. That puts a little more separation going into halftime.
- 3:31So that was key. Just an overall a good game against it.
- 3:36And they're tough to play even when you're up, like you know, we
- 3:38were up by thirty, it didn't feel like thirty just because of how many
- 3:42threes they can make. He does a really good job and they play a
- 3:46style similar to some of the other Biggiest teams. But you know they will
- 3:51play five out at times and you really have to be aware and make some
- 3:55decisions. Give up twos, give up threes, what do you want to
- 3:58do? So I thought we handled that pretty well. Chris. Over the
- 4:01first twenty minutes, you mentioned Aubrey off the bench and Q. You got
- 4:05seven for seven off the bench in the first half. Between Aubrey's four,
- 4:10I gave you two hoops. I coached them today you did no, no,
- 4:16yeah, but productive bench you got well. And when you can have
- 4:19that, I think that's the one thing when you talk about consistency, and
- 4:21we talk about this with our players all the time. As a coaching staff,
- 4:26we need to know what we're going to get every day. And that
- 4:29doesn't always mean that you know you're going to make every shot, but we
- 4:31have to know from a consistency factor in practice what we're going to get,
- 4:35and then games what are we going to get? And then if you don't
- 4:39have it that night, what are you still going to bring that's going to
- 4:42help our team, whether it's rebounding, defense, steals, you know,
- 4:45running in transition, whatever it is. There has to be a sense that
- 4:47from the coaching staff and your teammates that they know, this is what Aubrey
- 4:53brings every game, this is what Ash brings, this is what Q brings.
- 4:56And I think and that's you know, that's why you play the preseason
- 4:59schedule, That's why you know you play these games and you give players opportunities
- 5:02to show you every day what they're going to bring. And the last three
- 5:06games with that too, I think we've been a little more consistent. Chris,
- 5:10You've got Toronto Metropolitan on Wednesday. What can you tell us about this
- 5:14group? I didn't scat them someone else did, just it's more of an
- 5:20exhibition and the purpose of the game originally was to and it still is,
- 5:26to bring Aaliyah back home. Right. We had it scheduled against Pitt they
- 5:29had a coaching change and the contract hadn't been signed, so we ended up
- 5:33having to find somebody to play, and this team was happy to do it.
- 5:39The game is sold out thirty five hundred people. It's been sold out
- 5:42for months, I think, and it's just a nice way to bring a
- 5:46Leah home. You know, we're not gonna do much tomorrow because it's again
- 5:50we've had two games and I don't do scheduling either. I don't do much
- 5:57do I don't believe that. I don't believe that for but it'll be nice
- 6:00for Alita to get a chance to go home. We're going to go up
- 6:03tomorrow and I'm gonna have dinner and Keya nurse is going to join us,
- 6:09so that's nice. She can't come to the game because she's doing the Raptors
- 6:11game, but so it's going to be a nice trip for Lee and that's
- 6:14really what we're doing it for. Yeah, do you know coach was it?
- 6:17Coach Clark Carley Clark, the head coach. She I know Alia played
- 6:23for her, right, Oh okay, yes, actually she did, yeah,
- 6:26for the for their Olympic like the Olympic team. And I think the
- 6:30Global Jam that Elliot's well last year part of that. Yeah, that made
- 6:34up tournament that they run so they can win it. That's what I tell
- 6:39her, that it's a made up tournament. No one's ever heard of it
- 6:43until now. Well yeah, well she said she thinks that they beat the
- 6:46USA two years ago, but it was VCU that they beat. Got three
- 6:50initials, but they're wrong. That's the tournament. And then this year was
- 6:54Louisville. Yeah, that's right, because Jeff and I had more than three
- 6:57initials, so that's why they couldn't say it was anyway. I like to
- 7:00tease her, but we're happy to go up and uh, you know,
- 7:04from there everybody will get a chance to go home, which will also be
- 7:06nice. Right, all right, one more to go before loud Chris,
- 7:11thank you, And you know, very elegant. It's like it's like it's
- 7:15like a Christmas party, very festive and elegant. But that's you though.
- 7:20You're not you're not the ugly, You're not the ugly Christmas, that's for
- 7:25sure. All right, well, thank you, all right,
