Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: To the UK we go and Gevin Gray joins us hell.
- 0:01Speaker 1: Gavin hither Okay, we actually have some movements in the
- 0:07Speaker 1: Ukraine Russian conflict, a ceasefire in the Black Sea.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Yes, so we think there andrew Black Sea now should
- 0:14Speaker 2: be safe passage for commercial shipping. As the American officials
- 0:19Speaker 2: meeting with Ukraine and Russian representatives has broken up within
- 0:23Speaker 2: the last hour. Now, the Ukraine is agreeing to stop
- 0:27Speaker 2: any military force in the Black Sea, but it says
- 0:30Speaker 2: any movement of the Russian naval vessels based of course
- 0:33Speaker 2: in Crimea and in Russia would be a breaking of
- 0:37Speaker 2: and a violation of this agreement. In return, we understand
- 0:41Speaker 2: Russia is demanding that the sanctions currently in place on
- 0:44Speaker 2: the banks, the insurers, the food exporters must be lifted first.
- 0:49Speaker 2: They're demanding that before the Black Sea ceasefire, as it were.
- 0:53Speaker 2: They also want to reconnect with SWIFT, that's the network
- 0:57Speaker 2: that facilitates secure banking and financial masses between banks. Now Zelenski.
- 1:02Speaker 2: President Zelenski says if Russia violate's the treaty, then he
- 1:05Speaker 2: wants sanctions reimposed and more weapons. We're expecting to find
- 1:09Speaker 2: out more details later, but Andrew also with this has
- 1:13Speaker 2: of course been revelations about this chat between JD Vans,
- 1:18Speaker 2: the numb deputy to Donald Trump, and Pete Hesket, the
- 1:22Speaker 2: Defense Secretary, with Jdvans talking about freedom of navigation and
- 1:26Speaker 2: around that bombing of the Hooties with the quote just
- 1:29Speaker 2: hate bailing out Europe again, to which the Defense Secretary,
- 1:33Speaker 2: Pete Hesker said, I fully share your loading of European
- 1:36Speaker 2: free loading. It's pathetic. No news yet on a response
- 1:40Speaker 2: from European leaders about that.
- 1:42Speaker 1: All right, Now, here's the thing. I don't even knew
- 1:44Speaker 1: that the Isle of Man had its own government and
- 1:46Speaker 1: they've been voting on the right to choose, the right
- 1:49Speaker 1: to choose to win their own lives legislation. It's been
- 1:52Speaker 1: approved by the Parliament. It can now go to a scenes.
- 1:55Speaker 1: So tell us about this story.
- 1:57Speaker 2: Yes, So this is a large island really off Liverpool,
- 2:02Speaker 2: between central Mainland UK and Northern Ireland, and the Isle
- 2:07Speaker 2: of Man has its own legislative set of parliament, but
- 2:09Speaker 2: it falls within the UK Parliament, but it does have
- 2:13Speaker 2: its own rules and regulations and its own ability to
- 2:16Speaker 2: make its own laws. And they are now potentially anyway
- 2:20Speaker 2: going to be the first place in the United Kingdom
- 2:22Speaker 2: which allows assisted dying. Now the whole process will possibly
- 2:29Speaker 2: be implemented within the next year or so. The Parliament
- 2:33Speaker 2: in the Isle of Man needs to give its blessing
- 2:36Speaker 2: first and that will mean it will become the first
- 2:38Speaker 2: place within the British Isles to allow right to die,
- 2:42Speaker 2: but that has to be for people who have a
- 2:45Speaker 2: prognosis left to live of twelve months or fewer. It
- 2:48Speaker 2: is only available to those aged over eighteen, and in
- 2:51Speaker 2: a bid to prevent what you might call assisted dying tourism,
- 2:55Speaker 2: where somebody from the mainland who can't undergo assisted dying
- 2:59Speaker 2: goes to the arts a man for assisted time, there
- 3:01Speaker 2: is a minimum residency period. All this comes as Whitehall,
- 3:06Speaker 2: the main government for the UK, slightly set a tongue
- 3:09Speaker 2: tied about how it's going to approach this new law,
- 3:11Speaker 2: with the latest theory that even if it gets the
- 3:13Speaker 2: go ahead, it could take up to four years to
- 3:16Speaker 2: implement it, something the Isle of Man seems capable of
- 3:19Speaker 2: doing much faster.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Kevin Gray from the UK I thank yous.
