Latest / Mom Street USA / 100. Our 100th Episode Celebration! (Hub Episode)
Transcript
- 0:05Welcome everybody to Mom St. USA.
- 0:07My name is Jackie AKA Wishes Mama and today you have found
- 0:11our 100th episode of Mom St. USA and it is going to be a
- 0:15party. This is not like any other
- 0:17episode that we have done. We have so many friends here
- 0:20with us live and in our chat live as we are recording.
- 0:24But I am joined today by all of the hub and by our good friend
- 0:29Kate AKA the Disney Cicerone. So also joined by Duck and Jess
- 0:34AKA Beanie Duck and our good friend Stevie AKA Starship
- 0:38Stevie. So everyone is here for the
- 0:40party. It's going to be fun.
- 0:42We've got some information for you sort of, and some fun trivia
- 0:47and chaos and all of the good things.
- 0:49So that is the goal for today. I don't know who to ask first.
- 0:54So someone jump in and say how, how's it going?
- 0:57How are we doing? What's going on?
- 1:01Never. Someone has to jump in first.
- 1:02I'm just going to assume Duck is the one.
- 1:06I was like. I was, I turned to duck.
- 1:08Like what are they going to say? I started leaning forward like
- 1:11anyone else okay that's fine I'm so excited to be here This is
- 1:16awesome This is very exciting. Our our 100th episode seems fake
- 1:21seems not that's not a real number.
- 1:23You know, I mean like. That's.
- 1:24Also, our three-year anniversary of Mom St.
- 1:28Like somehow the stars aligned and that just all happened at
- 1:33one time, which is. Just like I know Disney magic.
- 1:36That's really rad. Right, yes.
- 1:38And we're so happy that Kate is with us today.
- 1:40It's been a while since we have seen Kate as she has been
- 1:44writing and doing all sorts of fun historian things.
- 1:48But we're so glad that you're here with us to celebrate this
- 1:51because Mom St. would not be where it is now without you
- 1:53doing all the work with me for the first, you know, two years
- 1:58almost. So it's it's so good to see you
- 2:01and thanks for being here. Thank you for having me.
- 2:03It was so sweet of you to invite me back.
- 2:05I love hanging out with you guys and I've missed you so very
- 2:08much, so I'm very excited to be here to have some fun and
- 2:11celebrate because 100 is a big milestone, so congratulations.
- 2:15Thank you. Yeah, Stevie, how are you doing
- 2:18this wonderful day? I'm happy to be here.
- 2:22This is this is there's been a lot going on in my life and this
- 2:25is the highlight of it. So I'm, I'm excited that the
- 2:27gangs all here, yes. I love that, yes, and the gang
- 2:31is all here, which is so fun. So I thought that it would be
- 2:34fun to kind of do just like a little brief history of Mom St.
- 2:40and just kind of give some some dates for us to ponder as we are
- 2:44thinking back on the 100 episodes that we have done.
- 2:48So the crazy thing to think about, I just mentioned that it
- 2:51is our three-year anniversary and our very first episode that
- 2:56Kate and I ever recorded was September 1st of 2022.
- 3:01Wow, which is so crazy to think about that it was three years
- 3:07ago. And for those of you who I guess
- 3:10don't know the origin story, kind of it happened on a live
- 3:14stream that Kate was doing, I think in Disneyland, right,
- 3:17Kate? I think so, yeah.
- 3:19Yeah. And it was just like a random
- 3:21comment in her chat that was like, you, you should do like a
- 3:26podcast from like Disney mom perspective and like give all
- 3:30the tips and things. And Kate was like, yeah, we
- 3:34should do that. Actually, it was in Animal
- 3:36Kingdom. I was in animal hanging because
- 3:38I was walking out of the exit and we started talking about how
- 3:41we would really love. First it started off with like a
- 3:43girl's podcast. We're like, or just a girl's
- 3:46chat, a girl's show. Or we could chat about like,
- 3:49yeah, women things. Because we, I mean, we all know
- 3:52that the Disney kind of influencer content world is
- 3:57predominantly male. So I think it's always so fun
- 4:02and unique whenever we do find kind of little pockets of the
- 4:06Internet where it's like, no, the women run things around
- 4:09here. Thank you very much.
- 4:12And then it just kind of evolved into that to like, well, like,
- 4:15what do we both like love and what do we want to help people
- 4:18with? And like, you know, obviously,
- 4:20like I am very much too. But Jackie's very passionate
- 4:23about helping families and moms and parents and people with
- 4:26small people, helping them enjoy the Disney parks better.
- 4:30And so we, we knew that I was in Disneyland, you know, I had more
- 4:34Disneyland expertise than Disney World, although I go to both.
- 4:38And she obviously knows lots, lots and lots about Walt Disney
- 4:40World. So it made sense for us to just,
- 4:42you know, kind of join forces then, so we'd have knowledge
- 4:44about both and evolved. And we're like, hey, maybe we
- 4:47should podcast it. I'm like sure what their powers
- 4:50combined. I was just going to say, and a
- 4:53superhero origin story was born. Yeah.
- 4:57Well, and it's, it's crazy because Kate, you kind of jumped
- 5:00into the podcast world around that time because a few months
- 5:05before we started Mom St. you had started Distory, which for
- 5:09those of you who don't know, Kate also has a podcast distory
- 5:12with Kate and Kirk with our good friend Kirk at Walrus Carp.
- 5:16So that has been going strong for 3 1/2 plus years at this
- 5:20point as well. Yes, I think it's 159 episodes
- 5:24so far and lots of long series that go into detail about Disney
- 5:28attractions. So if you love Disney history or
- 5:30just want to have things to scavenger hunt in the parks,
- 5:33that's the podcast for you. But yeah, I, I don't know why I
- 5:36decided to do 2 podcasts at once, but there, that's where I
- 5:39found myself. It's great.
- 5:42I hate having free. Time is what is what that means.
- 5:46Completely allergic, yes. I don't, yeah, I don't think
- 5:49anyone necessarily sets out to do to start multiple podcasts
- 5:53within a six month period. So let's continue down this trip
- 5:59down memory lane, I suppose. Our first YouTube then was
- 6:02posted September 6th of 2022, our first episode then with Chip
- 6:08and Co. So we became syndicated with
- 6:10Chip and Co just about a year into our podcast journey.
- 6:16Our good friend Mark that was running this Diz Life podcast
- 6:21over there initially kind of invited us to join their podcast
- 6:27network over there, which we are still syndicated and we do
- 6:30appreciate their partnership with our podcast over here with
- 6:34the Chip and Co podcast network. So our first episode on Chip and
- 6:39Co premiered October 3rd of 2023, but it was actually our
- 6:46Disneyland Paris episode, which is so wild to think back to when
- 6:50you had gone on your excursions over there, Kate and coming back
- 6:53and sharing your your Disneyland Paris experience with us, which
- 6:59is a wild trip. Yeah.
- 7:01Yeah. So that has been super fun.
- 7:03And then the other thing that I just had to share was that our,
- 7:07our first episode then with our lovely hub friends when we kind
- 7:10of shifted format and, and did something a little bit different
- 7:15was episode, Oh, I should mention the Disneyland Paris
- 7:18episode was episode 42. So not even halfway through kind
- 7:22of our, our journey here was when Chip and Co kind of
- 7:26happened. And then episode 76 was our
- 7:29first hub episode with Duck and Jess doing our Epcot Festival
- 7:33Crash Course that we did. And that first Hub episode was
- 7:36recorded February 18th of this year and premiered on Chip and
- 7:39Co February 25th of this year. So.
- 7:42That does not feel very young of this year.
- 7:45I was going to say it feels both too short and too right.
- 7:48That's that's a fake date. That's not real.
- 7:51It's not real. It's just not.
- 7:53So yeah, it's been wild. It's been so much fun to have
- 7:59all of these kind of memories and laughs along the way.
- 8:03I feel like if there were some stat for who has the most fun on
- 8:08a podcast, we'd be up there because the amount of laughing
- 8:13and like I get done and I'm like, Oh my gosh, my face hurts
- 8:18from laughing and smiling the whole time.
- 8:21So like, can't complain there. I have to like do something to
- 8:24let the adrenaline come down. Like I can't just, I need to go
- 8:27to bed right after but I'm always still like wired and like
- 8:30excited and happy and I'm like how am I supposed to sleep?
- 8:33Just and I have taken up the ritual of having a little sweet
- 8:36treat right after the podcast. So we can just like, that's why
- 8:39we can just like wind down. We like have our quiet time and
- 8:42our enclosures. We're just like scrolling
- 8:44through TikTok. We have a couple cookies and we
- 8:47go to bed. That's like our.
- 8:48That's the reason. We have so much fun in it.
- 8:51I'm totally with you, Stevie. It just like amps me right back
- 8:53up because we're just like, it's just this the whole time, right?
- 8:56Like it's just chaos and jokes and fun with, you know, some
- 8:59information thrown in occasionally and like, it's such
- 9:02a good time that we just like need to take a breath, take it
- 9:05down so we have a little sweet treat before we go to.
- 9:07Bed I love that there have been many a time where I have like
- 9:11finished up for the evening with Mom St. and I have to like my my
- 9:16setup is very mobile because as most of you know, I am sitting
- 9:19in my children's playroom in our basement right now.
- 9:22So I have to like tear everything down and put it all
- 9:24the way. And by the time I do that
- 9:26normally my husband's like in bed.
- 9:27He's like I'm out by I'm like, yeah, I need another hour to
- 9:31like just sit in silence so that my brain will stop so that I can
- 9:34go to bed. OK.
- 9:36I do have some other stats because I feel like these are
- 9:39fun and so kind of interesting. We talked about stats a few Oh
- 9:44gosh, it was probably several weeks ago now on one of our just
- 9:46like informal chats that we do sometimes on live with our mom
- 9:50St. friends and and a lot of you in in our chat were so curious
- 9:54about like what episodes had done well and what was you know,
- 9:57what were our numbers like and that kind of stuff.
- 9:59So I thought I would share a little bit of that.
- 10:01I'm not going to get too nitty gritty because you know that we
- 10:04could we could talk numbers all night and no one really wants
- 10:07to. I know I did have to get out the
- 10:09spreadsheet to be able to do this.
- 10:12It's like, you know me so well. I do have, I have a whole
- 10:14spreadsheet that tracks all of our numbers because I am that
- 10:18person, which should surprise no one.
- 10:21So our episode views starting with YouTube, which is where
- 10:27we've been kind of from the beginning, total views up to
- 10:30this point for three years is 7545 total views on our YouTube,
- 10:37which is, I think that's a really great number from
- 10:40starting at nothing to getting to that point.
- 10:43I was like, wow, look at us. We're, we're, we're doing
- 10:46something over there. And our top episodes, top
- 10:50performing episode over there was the 15 ways to Surprise your
- 10:54Kids with a Disney Trip. So that is the episode over
- 10:58there that has done the most views, our episode views now on
- 11:03Spotify. So Spotify, the number over
- 11:05there is a little interesting because it not only when we
- 11:09upload to that platform, it not only post directly to Spotify,
- 11:12but it goes a couple different places as well.
- 11:14So it's kind of like Spotify and some of those other places that
- 11:17exist out in the Internet too. Our total views and over there
- 11:21are 1996 and our top episode on those platforms is the travel
- 11:27Agent Talk episode. We did like episode like 14 year
- 11:31one. Yeah, yeah, that was the one
- 11:35that did the best over there. So part of that is like
- 11:38longevity, right? It's been there for the one of
- 11:40the, you know, longest episodes. But I thought that was really
- 11:43interesting that I was like, of all the episodes, that is the
- 11:45one that people keep going back to.
- 11:47So cool. I'll take that.
- 11:50And then kind of the, the boost to our views, so to speak, our
- 11:55our good friends over at Chip and Co and our audience over at
- 11:58Chip and Co. We are so grateful for you guys.
- 12:01It's hard because we don't always get to connect with you
- 12:03guys directly if we don't see you, you know, in our live chat
- 12:06over here or on our social media.
- 12:08But we know you're listening and we thank you for listening
- 12:10because since we've been there so two years at Chip and Co, our
- 12:15downloads and now this is a little bit low because I
- 12:18actually, I was just working with our friends at Chip and Co
- 12:21on getting some numbers and there's some sets in there that
- 12:24we can't seem to find for about five of our episodes that
- 12:27happened in the last like three to four months.
- 12:30For some reason there's like you see weird, weird glitching
- 12:33happening on there and not really sure they're.
- 12:35Trying to silence me in particular, Jackie.
- 12:38They don't want my jokes and inspiration out there.
- 12:42I'm too dangerous to the community.
- 12:44They need to keep my information private.
- 12:48I mean, I'm not going to argue there.
- 12:52They might be making some points.
- 12:54Not one person in this chat is defending me.
- 12:56I don't want that. Like, yeah, probably.
- 13:00My. I will be here my.
- 13:02Own wife threw me under the bus. There you go, our friend Ali
- 13:09Bath. Oh gosh, I can't talk.
- 13:10Our friend Ali Bath said justice for duck.
- 13:13So you you've got some support from there.
- 13:16But yes, so our episode download number over there is 35,159
- 13:24downloads on Chip and Co, which is like that's so wonderful.
- 13:28So if you are listening to us, yay love you.
- 13:32So much I'm just slipper agent. I've been activated.
- 13:38So yes, if you are listening over on Chip and Co, thanks for
- 13:41being here and thanks for downloading our podcast and
- 13:44listening. So that is super, super cool.
- 13:47But our top episode over there is actually one that we did in
- 13:51the last like 6 months and it's the all things photo passing
- 13:54character episode that I did. So yeah, total in again, this is
- 14:00a mostly a guesstimate because we are missing a few sets in
- 14:03here, but 44,700 views on our podcast and that doesn't even
- 14:09count the friends that are here live.
- 14:10So like just thank you, a massive thank you because we
- 14:15wouldn't have those numbers without our wonderful, amazing
- 14:19community that is here to support us and amp us up and,
- 14:25you know, promote us and share all of our stuff.
- 14:27And just, it's just so lovely and wonderful to have those
- 14:31kinds of of stats. And you know, yes, we put in a
- 14:35lot of work, but we are nothing without you guys listening.
- 14:39You know, otherwise we're just chatting to ourselves and into
- 14:42into the black hole that is. The not that we wouldn't just
- 14:44talk to ourselves, as I think we've all proven.
- 14:47Yeah, we just do this on a Zoom call if we can, so.
- 14:51So we should, yeah. We.
- 14:55Should we should So thank you guys for being here.
- 14:59While we're kind of on this thank you train here.
- 15:03I did give our mom St. listeners the ability to kind of send in
- 15:08some thoughts and some opinions and some kind words if they
- 15:15wanted to, because again, we are nothing without our amazing
- 15:18community. So I wanted to make sure that
- 15:21you guys were all a part of this episode because again, we would
- 15:24not be here if it were not for you.
- 15:26So I've got some some notes from our friends and I kind of left
- 15:30it open as far as like would love to hear from our community
- 15:33about favorite memories, favorite episodes, favorite
- 15:38moments, those types of things. So I'm going to do a little bit
- 15:41of reading now because I want to make sure that their voices are
- 15:44included in this podcast episode.
- 15:47So one of our viewers that goes by Tiki Mac on our Discord sent
- 15:53in this information, which was my wife and I loved the going to
- 15:56Disney with Infants and toddlers podcast.
- 15:59She also really liked the What's in my Disney Bag podcast.
- 16:02These are so practical and perfect for helping us prepare
- 16:05for our first trip with a kiddo. Thank you so much.
- 16:07So love that we get to hear that our podcast is helping people.
- 16:11You know, that's what we're here for.
- 16:12So loved that our good friend Sarah on TikTok sent in.
- 16:18Congrats on 100. As a Disney lover who goes to
- 16:21the parks once a year, Jackie and her amazing Mom St. guests
- 16:24are my primary source referenced when it comes to trip planning.
- 16:27Jackie and her guests are not only extremely knowledgeable and
- 16:30well spoken, but also present information in such a fun and
- 16:33entertaining way. I often receive compliments from
- 16:35family and friends on my suggested itinerary and
- 16:38Lightning Lane strategy after our trips and I have Mom St. to
- 16:41thank for that. Happy 100 episodes.
- 16:43Here's to many more, so thank you Sarah.
- 16:45OK next one is from our wonderful friend Rhonda who is a
- 16:50long time lovely friend of the podcast In a Pocket Fam but she
- 16:55wrote. My favorite moment was when we
- 16:57got to see Jackie and Kate meeting in person for the very
- 17:00first time. It was a live stream from Epcot
- 17:03and it absolutely warms my heart because her children, my
- 17:06children are adults. I focus more on getting to know
- 17:08the hosts and Jackie, Kate and our newer hosts Stevie Duck and
- 17:11Jess truly feel like dear friends to me.
- 17:14Don't get me wrong, all of the info I learned is still so
- 17:17valuable, but I enjoy the in between moments when
- 17:19personalities really shine through.
- 17:21Thank you so much for this wonderful show and huge
- 17:23congratulations on 100 episodes and three years.
- 17:29Rhonda. Our good friend Kelly Wags, who
- 17:32again, long time friend of our podcast, wrote in.
- 17:36I love the episode when they went live and handmade paper
- 17:39Mickey ornaments. So that was a Christmas episode
- 17:42that Kate and I did. I came on late so I didn't
- 17:44participate and I believe I was fairly new to Discord.
- 17:47A pocket fam then congratulations on your 100th
- 17:49episode. So proud of you all.
- 17:52I to add to that, when I put on this shirt today, which is my
- 17:56mom's street shirt, I realized I still have hot glue on the
- 17:59bottom of it. I got blocked out.
- 18:03A lasting souvenir, true. He took the words right out of
- 18:07my mouth. I know.
- 18:07So what? Oh my God, So that would have
- 18:09been what? What was the last thing?
- 18:12What did we make last Christmas episode?
- 18:14This is probably from speaking, Speaking of favorite moments.
- 18:17This was probably from when we did that one where we did the
- 18:20the giant Nikki wreath that has like we used like mop heads or
- 18:24something like from the dollar store, which was actually
- 18:27beautiful. Oh my God, got it.
- 18:28Yes, I love mine. It sheds everywhere and it
- 18:32involved a lot of hot glue. It has like lights underneath
- 18:35it, so it lights up and it's like beautiful.
- 18:36But I think that's where the hot glue happened to that shirt.
- 18:41Oh my gosh, the. Incident of 2024, yes, yeah,
- 18:43yeah. See Kathy BI love that wreath?
- 18:45I still use it. Kathy BI love that.
- 18:47Perfect, OK? Our good friend Moogie on
- 18:51Discord wrote in. I loved the blind ranking
- 18:55episode that we did, they added. I hadn't laughed that hard in
- 19:00years. It's also when I discovered that
- 19:02y'all were Figment haters, which was a whole hot topic that
- 19:06entire episode. With me, I would like to clarify
- 19:11I love Figment so much. I think he's being
- 19:14inappropriately used. It is his right as a disservice.
- 19:18Exactly. Him and his wonderfulness is.
- 19:20So lovely and he is being used in the worst possible way.
- 19:25Save my dragon. Save that baby from that ride.
- 19:30I'm with you. Yes, Thank you.
- 19:32Yes, yes, that was. Just I don't think that Epcot
- 19:34needs a mascot. It's not that it's figment, it's
- 19:37it's I like segment is fine. I just.
- 19:40Backpedaling happening here just he's.
- 19:43Missing. Stevie, Stevie, almost one
- 19:47Moogie back. All right.
- 19:49We almost want it back. I mean, you're like, actually I
- 19:52want. To kill that.
- 19:54We need to tame the beast, OK? I'm losing my voice, but I will
- 19:59speak up about. I like me with the.
- 20:02Not even this cold can silence me on the fitness roof.
- 20:06I'm sorry, Moogie. We love you.
- 20:11Yes, it was. For those of you who may have
- 20:12missed that one, we were blind ranking the attractions at every
- 20:18at every park and we may have all put Figment quite lower than
- 20:25Moogie would have liked. And Moogie let us hear about it
- 20:28in the chat. Some of that actually probably
- 20:31got edited out of the podcast because it went on for a very
- 20:35long time. As much as I love I love Moogie
- 20:39and I love the the conversation, that episode was already like 3
- 20:42hours long so we. Have to cut a little bit of
- 20:46that. For time, but I know Moogie
- 20:48isn't here to fight to fight for for Figment.
- 20:50But we are sending love to Moogie and love to Figgie and
- 20:55love to all of our figment stands because we do love you.
- 20:59However, opinions, opinions were were heard that that particular
- 21:04episode. OK, let's keep going because I
- 21:10feel like if we don't, we're never going to make it through,
- 21:13which is just the theme and has been the theme since day one of
- 21:17Mom street. So we're just we're just on
- 21:20steam. It's great.
- 21:22Our good friend Jules on Discord wrote in and said my favorite
- 21:25episode of Mom St. was the ways of surprising kids with the
- 21:28Disney trip. So that one seems to be very
- 21:30popular. Again, that was our most watched
- 21:33on YouTube, so our good friend Victoria wrote in.
- 21:37Congratulations on 100 episodes. Mom St.
- 21:40USA is such a welcoming community that I'm glad to be a
- 21:42part of. I love discussing the Orlando
- 21:45theme parks with everyone and trying to make the hosts laugh
- 21:48during the podcasts, which Victoria is very good at that.
- 21:51So I've got 1. More One more quote to read from
- 21:56our good friend Kathy B She wrote in I loved the Christmas
- 22:00party that we had at your my house and Kate's house.
- 22:03And Elliot played the piano and we did recipes and talked about
- 22:06crafts and things like that. It was one of my favorites
- 22:08because it meant a lot to me. I felt included and I felt
- 22:11welcomed. I thought I had friends with my
- 22:14life is so chaotic. Your show got me to stop and sit
- 22:17down and think of myself for once.
- 22:18And that's why I loved it so much, which I just love that so
- 22:22much from our good friend Kathy B so sweet.
- 22:26And I think that like perfectly sums up what I want our mom St.
- 22:30community to be. You know, for those of you who
- 22:34like don't know all of us in real life, we are all like such
- 22:37welcoming people. And I hope that that is
- 22:40portrayed through the screen. And I think that it is and has
- 22:43been kind of from day one that we want everybody to be feel
- 22:46included and be welcome in our community.
- 22:49And I just love that that Kathy pointed that out because I feel
- 22:53like, yes, that's what we want. That's what that's what Mom
- 22:57Street is partially here for, you know, also here for, you
- 23:00know, tips and Disney things. So.
- 23:02I didn't put the tissue box near me and now I can get up and
- 23:05leave and go get it. Oh my gosh.
- 23:10Yes, I love that. This was so, yeah, those were
- 23:13really fun. They they were a lot to do close
- 23:16to Christmas, but they were really fun.
- 23:18Yeah, yeah. They were so fun.
- 23:20I I agree for sure and I know that our there were several
- 23:24other fun moments and things that were shared when we chatted
- 23:28about this at the end of our last episode on our live stream
- 23:32here on TikTok. As we record, I know that plant
- 23:35Donald got brought up because you can't think about mom St.
- 23:39without thinking about our experience with plant Donald and
- 23:43I did go back and try to look yes, never forget Plant Donald.
- 23:48I did go back and try to look to see.
- 23:50And I unfortunately, and I talked about this last last
- 23:53week. I don't have the video from when
- 23:57that whole thing happened. And I know because you and I
- 24:01didn't. We had no clue that it was going
- 24:02to become what it did. And it just like I don't have
- 24:07the video of it, but there is, I think it was on like an informal
- 24:10chat episode or it was like AQ and A at the end of an episode
- 24:13that we did and we were just in tears because we were laughing
- 24:18so hard because people didn't know about plant Donald.
- 24:21So if you don't know about plant Donald, oh gosh, probably
- 24:26fourish years ago now, the Three Caballeros ride at Epcot went
- 24:31under some refurb and they were redoing the animatronics at the
- 24:34end. And they went through and redid
- 24:36Panchito and Jose and they when they took the animatronics away,
- 24:40they did these like cardboard, still not cardboard.
- 24:43We, I don't know what it's made out of, but these still, you
- 24:47know, cut outs of the characters.
- 24:49Well, we anticipated them doing that for Donald.
- 24:52However, that is not what happened.
- 24:55Donald disappeared overnight and because he went to be refurbed
- 24:59and in his place was just a simple plant in a pot.
- 25:03And they, they, they, they put a sombrero on it, and and thus
- 25:08plants Donald was born. Highly seem it's well executed,
- 25:12would never know the difference. But just like them.
- 25:16This is the most random thing that Disney's ever done.
- 25:18I was like, who approved? I just know I'm saying that it
- 25:22was some cast member on feel like you're about to say the
- 25:25same thing. Some cast members like wouldn't
- 25:26it be funny if we just did this and then nobody stopped them?
- 25:29Yep, right. And I'm on board.
- 25:31I love that. And nobody ever owned up to it.
- 25:33And I would love to know I'll. I'll sign an NDA if they tell me
- 25:37I would. Love to know who it was.
- 25:41Need to keep confirmation for my.
- 25:42Family right I just need I just need to know the back story.
- 25:45So if anybody out there in the Disney universe that is
- 25:48listening currently knows what actually happened backstage, I
- 25:52would love to know because it has brought us so much joy.
- 25:57And just yes, I, I never got to witness plant Donald and I went
- 26:02shortly after animatronic. No, I went when then.
- 26:06So I don't remember how long Plant Donald was there for.
- 26:08But then eventually they did get like the cut out of Donald that
- 26:11they put up for a time too, because I saw the cut out on my
- 26:15trip in 2021 that I went. So it wasn't very long that
- 26:19plant Donald existed, but I know that it lives somewhere on the
- 26:23Disney news site right in you. He lives in me.
- 26:28He's watching over. I was like, I don't know that I
- 26:34can do this tune, this melody well enough.
- 26:37With you. Voice going, but I got a joke to
- 26:39make. My gosh.
- 26:40So, yes, so that that is the the plant, Donald.
- 26:43And it was, it was like a 15 minute tangent that Kate and I
- 26:47went on and it was. Yep.
- 26:49That was probably the hardest that I've ever laughed in my
- 26:52life because I was just like physically tears streaming down
- 26:56our faces because it was just so absurd and we had to inform
- 27:00everyone and we like looked it up online.
- 27:02It's it was a whole thing. So run to Google if you have not
- 27:05experienced plant Donald, because it will be well worth
- 27:08your Google time for sure. OK, I think we're going to, I
- 27:13have some like favorite moments that we can talk about and
- 27:15share. We kind of been doing that all
- 27:16along. So I'm going to hop to our
- 27:17trivia if Kate is ready for our trivia.
- 27:22So here's what. I'm so nervous.
- 27:25All this stuff here here is what we are going to do.
- 27:28So I thought it would be fun to have a little friendly
- 27:32competition between the current hosts and hub hosts of Mom St.
- 27:40and Kate is going to moderate and keep the peace between all
- 27:45of. So our good friend of the
- 27:50podcast, Katio gave a gigantic list of Disney trivia.
- 27:55So that way it was a neutral party that I didn't have.
- 27:58I couldn't see it and cheat. And I can participate in all
- 28:01that good stuff and Kate is going to read them and we will
- 28:07have each. So I will take a turn stuck in
- 28:09Jess. You're on this side.
- 28:10I forgot I was mirrored. We'll take a turn.
- 28:12And I'm sorry in advance, Katie O, you are a lifesaver.
- 28:16So do not apologize. And then Stevie is going to take
- 28:19a turn and we have 100 seconds because the 100th episode.
- 28:24Get it? It's cute, right?
- 28:26I know I did it. That's so much sense.
- 28:28My brain was like, why did she pick 100 and I could not work it
- 28:32out. I'm so I'm I'm very aware of
- 28:36what's going on at all times. Thank you.
- 28:40Oh my gosh, this is going to be great, you guys.
- 28:43We will have 100 seconds to answer as many trivia questions
- 28:47correctly as we can. So Kate is going to read and
- 28:53keep tally for us. I've got a timer that is ready
- 28:57that we can we can keep time with.
- 29:00So that is the goal. Of the trivia, so it's however
- 29:05many you can get right in that in 100 seconds, correct.
- 29:08So I'm going to make I'll have to mark which ones you got
- 29:10correct. But I will say thank you, Katie
- 29:13O for the wonderful questions. And I went through them and then
- 29:16I'm a historian, so I curated them.
- 29:18So, so I did say I left in someones that are very, very
- 29:24easy and there's ones that are moderate and there's ones a
- 29:27little bit harder, but I try not to make them my level of hard.
- 29:31So I try that's not. That's not comforting.
- 29:37I asked Kate if she one if she had time but like also if she
- 29:41wanted to write the question and she was like, I'm really afraid
- 29:45that mine will be too hard. And I was like, that's totally
- 29:47fell. So I do have though at the end
- 29:51if there's a tiebreaker or if we just want to have some fun, I
- 29:53have like 5 of ones that are harder ones that you can maybe
- 29:56try and guess, you know so but. And if we don't need a
- 30:00tiebreaker, I think we'll probably still read them and our
- 30:02chat can also participate in that whenever we get to that
- 30:05point. So if if if needed.
- 30:07So OK, so you're the time keeper, right Jackie?
- 30:11Yes, so I am going to 1st I got I I'm so fancy over here.
- 30:16I I did a wheel of names so that way it will unbiasedly pick
- 30:24them. I'm so nervous.
- 30:27I just want to volunteer. Let's go.
- 30:29I'm full. Of nervous.
- 30:34I know it's really hard to read this one the way that they did
- 30:36that. OK duck and just what you asked.
- 30:40Thank. God.
- 30:41What you asked for so duck and just are up.
- 30:45I will keep an eye on the timer and I will chime in whenever
- 30:49time is up and or maybe give you some.
- 30:52I wish I could like I was fancy and I could put like a little
- 30:55timer up here, but I don't know how to do that.
- 30:56I don't know if I can do that so.
- 30:58We're going. Counting down when it like gets
- 31:00to 10 like perfect. I can I can do that.
- 31:03I can absolutely do that. So if you guys are totally
- 31:06stumped, just say Skip and we'll move on to the next one.
- 31:09We can go back later and give the answer whatever, but OK, OK,
- 31:13All right, I'm ready whenever you guys are.
- 31:15Are we ready? Duck and Jess, Are you ready?
- 31:17Ready. OK, on your mark and get set.
- 31:21And suddenly I've forgotten. Everything OK on your mark?
- 31:27Get set, go. What Disney World ride has the
- 31:31highest capacity? Honda Mantra?

- 32:56Yes, cats. Who voiced Ariel in the 1983
- 33:02Little Mermaid? Joey Benson.

- 33:11Yep, I'll count that. Too under the wire, right, 1234.
- 33:15Five You're upset about the Ray Bradbury one because I knew it
- 33:18too. My brain just shut down all.
- 33:21Right, doc, you guys see that sticks?
- 33:23OK. I'll take it.
- 33:26OK, I'm not going to get in through enough of these
- 33:28questions. I have like 4.
- 33:30Pages we were faster. Well, we we didn't know how many
- 33:35we were going to need. And Katie was like, here's 50.
- 33:37I was like, that is plenty. So here's what's going to
- 33:39happen. We're going to spend the rest of
- 33:41the episode going through and. Seeing who can get it, we can
- 33:44include the chat and some. That would be fun, yes.
- 33:46OK, I'm going to. I'm not going to move my phone
- 33:48because my phone disconnected from my audio list time spinning
- 33:52the wheel. Do, do, do.
- 33:54And it's us again. We get a redemption heart.
- 33:58Oh, it's me. OK.

- 36:17Have just guessed Nixon. I'm so mad at myself because I
- 36:19was the only president I could think of and I was like, isn't
- 36:22him? It's probably not him I started.
- 36:23Trying to make a whole speech from the contemporary.
- 36:25I just know there's a big history buff and that's how
- 36:28we're trying to convince him we're like, you can go see where
- 36:30Nixon gave the I'm not a crook speech.
- 36:32True are like 10 connections to Richard Nixon to Disney history.

- 37:37don't know all for in skip I expect take too long.
- 37:40It's used to get extra points for.
- 37:41September condo Disco Inferno I ran One way or another,

- 38:01Wait, sorry, whoop. Disneyland's Frontierland had
- 38:03rides in a few kinds of vehicles when it opened in 1955 that have

- 39:02I'll give you a half point for. That was.
- 39:04Raw yeah, the year of Tower of Terror.
- 39:06I was like. Oh yeah.
- 39:08You see the earth. Like all of the rides that I
- 39:10like don't go on anymore or give me existential anxiety like I
- 39:14can. I'd actually have to say I would
- 39:15argue that we give another half point for the panic singing of
- 39:19Iran. I actually think that we should
- 39:23round that up to four. I would argue that you.
- 39:26Guys are 4 for Stevie. I like it.
- 39:29I'm for failure. I will because like my problem
- 39:32was like, I don't know the name of that song, but I could sing
- 39:35it and I was like maybe one of the words that I sing is the
- 39:38name of the star. You sing exactly.
- 39:41The title. Man.
- 39:46Well, you guys, I mean, technically there's enough
- 39:47questions, you probably could do it again if you wanted to, so.
- 39:51I'll leave it up to you guys if you want to do another round or
- 39:53not. Or we could just like play
- 39:55whoever answers 1st cuz I feel like there's a lot of them that
- 39:57like one of the bunch of us knows but like not necessarily
- 40:01whoever's like. Yeah, we can.
- 40:02I went down with group trivia cuz I I like trivia.
- 40:05I think it's fun. Saying.
- 40:07I torment my family with trivia pursuit so.
- 40:10Let's do it. Yeah.
- 40:11So questions, I'm ready. Yes, yes, read, read us.
- 40:15Read us a handful of fun ones as you kind of scan through.
- 40:18Not all Kate's questions you. Know because there there's like
- 40:22a niche part of Kate's questions that I do know the answer to and
- 40:25I feel like I need to prove my side.
- 40:29OK, this is redemption arc question.
- 40:32The first Where is the sinkhole located in Epcot World Showcase
- 40:37Lagoon. Lagoon.
- 40:39Is it called the Lagoon? The Blue Lagoon.
- 40:42The lake. It's not.
- 40:44It's not on the spaceship. Earth, it's not the lagoon, it's
- 40:46not the actual lagoon like where the show happens.
- 40:50It's between the two. So between what was Future World
- 40:54and now World Showcase? Does that body of water the
- 40:57bridge? Yeah.
- 40:58Does it have a name, that body of water?
- 41:00It probably. Does, but I don't know if I know
- 41:02it quite. Honestly, it doesn't know to do
- 41:05some research. No, Yeah, Nope.
- 41:07Yeah. But yeah, Near the Odyssey.
- 41:08Near the Odyssey. Yes, Anna.
- 41:10I realized that I remember like nothing from my Epcot
- 41:12orientation and yeah. It is simply called World
- 41:16Showcase Lagoon. OK, two song based food shows
- 41:20were featured in the Land Pavilion in Epcot in Disney
- 41:23history. Name one of them Kitchen Chip.
- 41:25February. And is the other one like food,
- 41:28rocks or something like that? Yep, Yep.
- 41:31Good job team. Who is Ariel and Eric's
- 41:34daughter? Melody?

- 42:01a Muppet. That was very, it was very
- 42:03muppet ish of us to all do that and I, I love that so much.
- 42:07It's time to start the music. It's, I mean, I'm.
- 42:10Literally wearing Kermit earrings, Constantine.
- 42:14We rephrase. OK, OK.

- 42:23for Disneyland? Chevy.
- 42:29Ford, I feel like it was a car company.
- 42:33Toyota. Nissan.
- 42:35It was not a car company, Johnson.
- 42:37Not a car company. Not a car company, Kodak.
- 42:42My brain is like Siemens, but like, that's like a more recent
- 42:45sponsor. Yeah, Kate.
- 42:46It is a Kate question, which is funny because this was an easy
- 42:49Kate question. Kate, how dare you?
- 42:53I haven't done enough research on the the beginnings of
- 42:56Disneyland. I got nothing.
- 42:59It was Arrow development, yeah. I got distracted by a comment
- 43:04suggesting mom St. Muppets and now I want a T-shirt
- 43:09of all of us like in cartoon form as Muppets so bad.
- 43:13So thank you Andrew. I I'm going to Daydream about
- 43:17that my as the adrenaline comes down after the lives over.
- 43:21OK, what was the first name for Mickey Mouse that Walt's wife
- 43:25Lillian did? Mortimer.
- 43:27Very good. OK what is Max as in Max Goof?
- 43:31A nickname for Maximilian. MM Hmm.
- 43:34What is the name of Russell's scout group in up Wilderness
- 43:38Explorers. You guys got the movie ones.
- 43:41You guys are like down with the movie ones.
- 43:44So Disneyland Sleeping Beauty Castle has a tree planted next
- 43:48to it in tribute to beloved artist.
- 43:50Who is it dedicated to? Mary Blair.
- 43:54No, but I like that answer. I know, so that would be my
- 43:56only. One that I can remember.
- 44:00Gosh. Wanna see if the chat gets it
- 44:03like I saw it and I show this on a live stream all the time so I
- 44:06wanna see if anybody knows it. Ryman Amy.
- 44:08Got it. Herb Amy.
- 44:10Good one. The castles designer.
- 44:12Herb Ryman. Well done.
- 44:14What is the name of Disney's private island?
- 44:18Which one Castaway key? And then they have the other new
- 44:21one now, right? Yeah, they have that new one.
- 44:23Look out, look out, look, look, point.
- 44:25I don't remember what the other one.
- 44:27Is called Castaway One this month so I'm excited and have
- 44:30actually get to set foot on it because I was had like that flu
- 44:33that you get on like cruises for the last time I was there so I
- 44:36wasn't allowed to leave my room so I saw it from my balcony
- 44:39that's all I saw it was a. It is lookout K at.
- 44:43I was close. Half point Jackie, I'm skiing
- 44:49just. Sing it.
- 44:51Just sing it. I got nothing.
- 44:55Send all your answers. In Disneyland's Jungle Cruise
- 44:57there is a pickle jar or pickle barrel that says Bob and Sons.
- 45:02Who is that dedicated to? It's a more recent Bob if that
- 45:07helps not. Either.
- 45:10Nope, we didn't work. Fan a fan of Tiger Tiger other
- 45:17chain? Packs too many bobs.
- 45:21They're not happy with any of them.
- 45:22Tragically, Kate, they're going to have to be more specifically,
- 45:25the Bob we're not a fan of that worked at Disney.
- 45:27There's like. Seven of them.
- 45:31Yeah, it was JPEG. He really liked Disneyland
- 45:32Pickles. So they and it's still there, so
- 45:35just saying. OK Cruella had two hench men.
- 45:41Name both of them. I'm gonna say name both of them
- 45:42instead of one of them. Horace.
- 45:43And Jasper very good. Good one who?
- 45:47Was I got the movie? Stuff.
- 45:49Who was the main animator who designed Cruella?
- 45:53Somebody gay? Actually, no surprising because.
- 46:06I refuse to believe that. Stevie was the all time comment
- 46:14so many times. Where I'm like trying to hold in
- 46:17like the thoughts from just like leaving my mouth.
- 46:20Oh man. OK, no.
- 46:23Well, what's the question? Who's the main animator for
- 46:27Cruella? It wasn't Dallas.
- 46:32I also wasn't an animator, she was an.
- 46:34An artist she was. I don't know enough.
- 46:37I don't know enough names of animators off the top of my
- 46:39head. Regardless, it is correct.
- 46:42It was Mark Davis. Interesting.
- 46:44Yeah. All right, here's an easy one.
- 46:46What's the name of the boy band in Turning Red?
- 46:494 town, 4 Town. I left the easy ones, and I told
- 46:52you I left the East. Was it for y'all?
- 46:55It's like I'm throwing you a bone.
- 46:58Gosh, would you take? It with which one of these
- 47:00classic Disney movies was a failure at the box office that
- 47:04went when it first premiered? Well, Cinderella, Peter Pan or
- 47:07Alice in Wonderland. Alice in Wonderland.
- 47:11Yes, very good. I could give you the bells about
- 47:14Stevie, you know, like, oh, I don't know.
- 47:16That one. OK, who collaborated with Walt
- 47:19to design Mickey Mouse? By works.
- 47:23By works very good. What food item is banned from
- 47:27being sold in any park in the US?
- 47:29Any Disney park. Yeah, Yes, let me.
- 47:32Just that I think came up like my Disney like orientation, it
- 47:35like a traditions. I think that they brought that
- 47:37up. That's so Yani.
- 47:40OK, what? Ride is in every Disney park
- 47:42around the world. Dumbo.
- 47:46Yep, I knew that one because OK, so fun, fun story about that,
- 47:50that Kate, you may or may not remember our first Christmas
- 47:54episode that we did, We played trivia for stickers, and that
- 47:59was one of the questions that we answered.
- 48:00But TikTok won't let you type that word into the chat.
- 48:04And remember, we were like, why can no one get this?
- 48:06And then we finally figured out that TikTok was censoring the
- 48:09chat. And so I had to come up with
- 48:11another. Question The elephant ride?
- 48:14Yep, Yep, the elephant ride. So yeah, I knew that's that's
- 48:18why I know the answer to that trivia.
- 48:19Question. Is because of Mom St.
- 48:22There, you know what they will and won't block.
- 48:25Right. So thank you for playing letting
- 48:28me run trivia, and I'm sorry that my questions are too hard.
- 48:32That was so fun. It doesn't even matter that they
- 48:34were super hard. That was that was so fun.
- 48:37I love that. Thank you, Kate for doing that
- 48:39and shout out Katie O for giving us all of those wonderful
- 48:43questions. Thank you.
- 48:44We appreciate you. Thank you for taking the time to
- 48:46help us with that. Good job.
- 48:49When I was thinking about traditions a second ago, I was
- 48:52reminded of something else. They told us in Traditions there
- 48:54was like trivia that they did during that Disney Orient,
- 48:57Disney cast member orientation for those of you who don't know
- 48:59what traditions is. And I there was a question that
- 49:02I got right and I kind of want to know whether or not anybody
- 49:04else gets it right. They asked what's the most
- 49:07common question that cast members get?
- 49:09Where's the bathroom? Yes.
- 49:12Oh my God, I was kidding. I thought I was just being
- 49:24clever. That's incredible.
- 49:28Most common question 5. I love those Disney trivia.
- 49:34Where's the castle? That was a lot of fun.
- 49:37I would like to nominate that Kate come back for a future
- 49:40episode of Just Like. Maybe we'll get Katie O's
- 49:43questions in there too, but look for more trivia because that was
- 49:46really a lot of fun. I like Kate being game show
- 49:49host. That was cool.
- 49:50I like learning new things, like if I don't know the answer, it's
- 49:52still fun to find out what the answer is.
- 49:54Yeah, and I love being forced to be creative with my stupid
- 49:57jokes, so. Hey.
- 50:01So win, win hollow. Rapping across the board.
- 50:04I would love to do that. That would be really fun.
- 50:06Yeah. I'm like a weird encyclopedia of
- 50:08facts. So it's great to expect.
- 50:09People, a weird encyclopedia of facts that we love.
- 50:14They're fun facts from a fun person.
- 50:17Well, thank you. And I was sad.
- 50:19That's weird. I was said a little
- 50:21aggressively. Duck, I'm going to.
- 50:22Need you to title them back in a little.
- 50:23Bit. You.
- 50:24Are. Everyone in this chat is so much
- 50:26fun and I need them to acknowledge it.
- 50:28I need my friends to love themselves right now.
- 50:36Positivity is my brand. I love this, I love this, this
- 50:40is this is so fun. I don't want it to end.
- 50:42But sadly, we must eventually bring this this to an end,
- 50:46sadly, at least for at least for today, if not for, you know, we
- 50:51can always reconvene at a later date.
- 50:54But I thought that it would be fun to kind of wrap up our
- 50:58little fun celebration friends time for our 100th episode by
- 51:02just like giving our favorites like Disney hack or like advice
- 51:07for newbies or those types, that type of things.
- 51:11So I will let you guys ponder for a moment and I'll I'll
- 51:16OfferUp myself to go first since this was my idea and I want to
- 51:21give you guys time to like think about what you might want to
- 51:23say. So if I were to offer some kind
- 51:27of advice for people that are visiting Disney, the one that I
- 51:31always always, always give is just take it all in and don't
- 51:35try to do it all. Make your list that you of your
- 51:39must do's accomplish it and then just go with the flow and enjoy
- 51:43it after that. That I feel like is always my
- 51:46top piece of advice that I give to people.
- 51:50The other one that I want to share is just to if especially
- 51:54kind of for those who listen to mom St. because you are a mom or
- 51:59a parent or a, an adult guardian or just an adult friend that
- 52:03visits the parks with children. Take your cues from from the
- 52:07kids that you're with. If they're done, if they need a
- 52:10break, listen to them because they will enjoy your trip so
- 52:15much more if they aren't exhausted the whole time.
- 52:20So just really do your best to put any plans aside and just
- 52:24really listen to your kids that you're traveling with.
- 52:28Because I think the biggest thing for me to always remember
- 52:30is like my kids don't always love the nighttime shows.
- 52:33They don't love fireworks. So like that's not something
- 52:36that we have to plan for. They've seen the fireworks show
- 52:40and now we're to the point where it's like they don't love them.
- 52:43So that's OK. Again, just just being up late
- 52:48may not be their vibe. Take their cues.
- 52:50You may just call it an early night or hit some rides while
- 52:54the fireworks are going off. You guys know that that tip.
- 52:56But I think just listening to your kids and taking your your
- 52:59cues from them is so important. So those are my 2 little tidbits
- 53:03to share. Does somebody want to go next?
- 53:07I'll go. Shockingly, I'm volunteering.
- 53:11I think one of my favorite things to remind people who are
- 53:16new or maybe don't go to the parks all that often is to look
- 53:20for like there's a lot more free and cheap activities to do in
- 53:24Disney then you might think. So there's a lot of things that
- 53:29we have been able to do that like some of my favorite
- 53:31memories are like just buying like a cheap scavenger hunt,
- 53:34right? Like I'm going to give the food
- 53:35and wine, like Remy's hide and squeak, right?
- 53:37Like that is so fun and I demand that we do it every time we're
- 53:41down there for food and wine because it's like it's just
- 53:43really cute and really fun. But there are even like other
- 53:46things that are free, like something like the pirate
- 53:49scavenger hunt in Adventureland or look to the hotels, right?
- 53:54Like if you are staying on property or if it's something
- 53:56that they are just extending in general, there's like movie
- 53:59nights, there's s'mores, there's bonfires regularly.
- 54:03So like there's a lot of things that you can do that are like,
- 54:07there's more things available than I think people realize that
- 54:10just like it can give you a fun time within the park and you
- 54:13don't have to worry about maybe like I got it.
- 54:16I, I picked up a lightning lane, but it's an hour away and it's
- 54:19the best thing that I could do. Like I don't know how I'm going
- 54:21to fill my time like this. Slow down, check out if there's
- 54:24something in the area, right? You can always ask a cast member
- 54:26or if there's something that you know of like it's, there's lots
- 54:29of little things to do that really like, especially if
- 54:32you're there with, you know, little, little, little humans
- 54:36that can give you like really great memories and that, you
- 54:39know, just help you slow down and really enjoy what's around
- 54:42the park. So and the hotels too, because
- 54:45there's lots of cool stuff at the hotels that I think people
- 54:48just don't realize. I love that.
- 54:52Jess, do you want to go next? Yeah, sure.
- 54:54So mine is like kind of similar to your first one, Jackie, but
- 54:57it's to like definitely plan and have your things that you want
- 55:00to do, but also don't be afraid to like take time to do with the
- 55:04spontaneous things that just kind of come up.
- 55:06Some of my favorite memories are like times where we like walked
- 55:09in a Magic Kingdom and the Festival of Fantasy parade was
- 55:12happening and we just like stopped and watched and like
- 55:14cried the whole time because it's beautiful.
- 55:15So or like when they still had the cavalcades, we were with my
- 55:19cousin and her kids and just like seeing their faces as they
- 55:22watched all the Pixar characters going by was like so much fun in
- 55:25such a core Disney memory. And like, we didn't know that
- 55:28that was going to happen And we were like on our way somewhere
- 55:30else. We were like, let's stop and
- 55:31take a minute and watch it. The kids want to and it like
- 55:34ended up being so much fun to do.
- 55:35So, you know, making sure that you're taking the time to do
- 55:38those things, even if they're not necessarily things that you
- 55:41like would have planned for in your day regularly.
- 55:44But if you're there and they come up, maybe just stop and
- 55:46take a minute because you might really enjoy it.
- 55:48Love it. Kate or Stevie, do one of you
- 55:50guys want to go next? I'll go.
- 55:54OK, so my advice is to talk to cast members.
- 55:59I more specifically, as the situation allows for it, ask
- 56:03cast members for their favorite fun fact about Disney or their
- 56:07ride or like their favorite park tip because you'll get to hear
- 56:11all kinds of things. I say that because that's those
- 56:15are one of my favorite moments to have, like when I was working
- 56:17as a cast member to talk with guests about that kind of thing.
- 56:20But as a guest, I also love asking it.
- 56:23So in Disneyland, for example, my husband and I were on web
- 56:27slingers in Avengers Campus and we were exiting the pre show
- 56:31area and we were kind of at the end of the line and there was a
- 56:33cast member just kind of sweeping and clearing the queue.
- 56:37And I'd ask about the lockers that are in that area.
- 56:40And then I asked, I was like, well, what's your favorite
- 56:44tidbit, favorite fun fact about the ride?
- 56:47And she explained that there is a storyline throughout the ride
- 56:51about Harley's missing torque wrench.
- 56:54And there's a post it in the pre show queue.
- 56:56Harley draws a wanted poster in the hallway.
- 57:00And then there's like a note in the exit area.
- 57:03There's like a desk where I think Peter is the one that
- 57:06returns the torque wrench. And it's so there's just like a
- 57:09whole secret kind of like narrative through there that
- 57:12makes the whole space feel really lived in.
- 57:14And like, I've noticed these things, but I hadn't connected
- 57:17the dots that like, they're different points in time and not
- 57:21just like one existing place. And it, I don't know, it makes
- 57:24the whole ride feel so lived in and is part of why I love it so
- 57:28much. So you never know what you're
- 57:29going to learn if you ask a cast member about their favorite fun
- 57:32fact. That's so fun.
- 57:35I love that. All right, Kate, what do you,
- 57:37what do you got for us? Well, mine is similar to Jess's.
- 57:45I think that the magic of Disney really truly is in the pauses
- 57:50rather than the activity. And I think that as parents or
- 57:54people who are parading young people through the park,
- 57:57sometimes we get on our agenda and we forget that we're, we're
- 58:02looking at our phone and booking things, or we're like, we're
- 58:04mobile ordering food, or we're like going from here.
- 58:06It's it's chaos, it's loud. There's lots going on, but the
- 58:09pauses that you take not only to enjoy the park, but pauses with
- 58:13the people that you're with to really just like take in that
- 58:17moment with them because you're never going to get it again.
- 58:20That is the only time you'll ever have them in that moment.
- 58:23So put it in your phone away. You know, you can capture all
- 58:25the pictures that you want, but put, you know, like really just
- 58:28like being in the moment, being present and pausing with those
- 58:32people that are around you. I think that is the magic of
- 58:35Disney that we have. And I would encourage anybody,
- 58:38not only if you're, if you're a solo traveler as well, you can
- 58:41have lots of magical moments on your own.
- 58:44I have many of those in the parks just wandering by myself.
- 58:48But really, truly, I think just don't let your agenda make it so
- 58:53that you you miss out on the magic.
- 58:56Enjoy the pauses. I love it.
- 58:58Well, and I think so, so much of that is, you know, what we kind
- 59:02of all talked about is not a topic that we're going to cover
- 59:05on Mom St. It's not something that we, you
- 59:07know, do podcast episodes about, but it is just kind of sprinkled
- 59:11in throughout everything that we that we do and that we talk
- 59:14about here, you know, at Mom St. And ultimately the goal of all
- 59:18of us is, is to help our viewers and listeners enjoy those pauses
- 59:23and have the ability to, because we've hopefully set you up for
- 59:26success and the other aspects of your park trips where you can
- 59:30feel like, OK, Yep, I, I can, we, we, we can do that.
- 59:34We can stop and watch these characters go by, or we can stop
- 59:38and enjoy this, this moment together.
- 59:41And then we can go do the rest of whatever we want to do.
- 59:44So I think that's, it's so interesting to me that we all
- 59:46kind of touched on a little bit different, but it was all still
- 59:49very similar in the like, yes, make your list and yes, have
- 59:53your, your idea of what you want to do.
- 59:55But also it's OK to like slow down a little and you know, take
- 1:00:00a pause like Kate said. So I think it's fun that we all
- 1:00:03kind of, we all kind of unintentionally touched on that
- 1:00:06because we didn't talk to each other about what we were going
- 1:00:08to say before we just said it. They're all.
- 1:00:10Strategies where you can like make magic for yourself, like
- 1:00:13ways to just kind of have that happen on its own.
- 1:00:17And I think that that's really beautiful.
- 1:00:18Yeah. I agree.
- 1:00:21I love it. OK, well, that is kind of the
- 1:00:23end of what I have. But before we officially wrap up
- 1:00:27here, I do just want to give Kate a chance to chat about what
- 1:00:32she's been up to because we kind of just jumped into our episode
- 1:00:35and went, this is what we're going to do today.
- 1:00:37But I do want to give Kate a chance to like, fill us all in
- 1:00:40because it's been a while since we have like, officially seen
- 1:00:42her on Mom Street. So, Kate, what have you been
- 1:00:46working on since we last saw you?
- 1:00:49Mostly lots and lots of writing. Just a lot of writing.
- 1:00:53I've published now five books, which is amazed I.
- 1:00:58Can't remember when I read last. Well, I have audio books on
- 1:01:03Audible, so if you don't read, but you want to listen to me
- 1:01:06read to you, I have them there. And the one that I'm currently
- 1:01:09working on editing for Audible is one that's called A Glimmer
- 1:01:12of Pixie Dust. Finding Our Hope in the Disney
- 1:01:14Story. It is part of a series that
- 1:01:17Jackie actually helped me name the series.
- 1:01:19So it's called moments, Moments of magic series.
- 1:01:22But basically these are this particular series is all about
- 1:01:27kind of a collection of writings about how we experience the
- 1:01:29Disney parks within the context of Disney history.
- 1:01:31So lots of you like obscure facts, but you also want to
- 1:01:35understand them like how how do I see myself in this Disney
- 1:01:38story? And also like kind of this one
- 1:01:40in particular is if anybody's really going through a hard
- 1:01:42time, they're struggling, they're in a really dark place.
- 1:01:45They are just are, are really needing a little bit of extra
- 1:01:49hope and light. That's what this book is about.
- 1:01:50And it was written for me in a pretty hard season.
- 1:01:53So it's a it's makes me cry still to read it now.
- 1:01:56So if you need that in your life, it's available on Amazon
- 1:02:01and also Kindle unlimited if you have that.
- 1:02:03And also it will be on audible soon.
- 1:02:05It has 71 tracks that I have to edit.
- 1:02:07So I'm working my way through it.
- 1:02:09It's it's, it's a that's that. And then I also have a kitchen
- 1:02:15series. So if you prefer to just escape
- 1:02:17into the Disney parks and forget about the world for a while, I
- 1:02:21have a Pixie dust in the Park series.
- 1:02:25Sorry, I've got to get them in order.
- 1:02:26It's going to drive me crazy there.
- 1:02:28So I have a Pixie bust in the park series that has where the
- 1:02:32fireflies dance is the first one that's set in Disneyland and it
- 1:02:35stars Disney history live streamers and actually has
- 1:02:38people from our pocket fam community and lobster community
- 1:02:41who contributed some names and screen names and stuff for this
- 1:02:44one, which was really fun actually for all three of these,
- 1:02:47I have that. And so then the next one send
- 1:02:49Walt Disney World, which is called what the Mansion eyes
- 1:02:51see. And this one is spooky vibe, so
- 1:02:54perfect for the season that we're in.
- 1:02:56Definitely has lots of Haunted Mansion facts.
- 1:02:57But it said in Walt Disney World.
- 1:02:59And this one is what the one that said to Kirk from Albert's
- 1:03:02Carp loves the best. That's he always goes on and on
- 1:03:05about it. And the last one in the series
- 1:03:07is was written alongside this other one.
- 1:03:09That was the nonfiction. I wrote these two books at the
- 1:03:11same time 'cause I'm an overachiever.
- 1:03:14And. That is crazy and 'cause I just
- 1:03:18can't. I can't decide in the day if I
- 1:03:19want to write fiction or nonfiction.
- 1:03:21I just write whatever inspires me the most and.
- 1:03:22Allergic to free time? Apparently yes, yes to.
- 1:03:26Reiterate Kate has to be doing something at all times.
- 1:03:31It's sadly, sadly true, but anyway, the third one, the
- 1:03:35series is called to the mirror flex.
- 1:03:36This is actually has stars 2 cast members in Walt Disney
- 1:03:40World. One that is works for the the
- 1:03:43railroad. Another one works for the lit on
- 1:03:45the liberty bell. So if you miss the rivers of
- 1:03:47America, this has a lot of nostalgia for that in it and
- 1:03:50it's AI didn't intend. I didn't know they were going to
- 1:03:53close it when I started writing the book.
- 1:03:55And now it's just become like a time capsule to what it was like
- 1:03:58to float the river and work on that particular boat.
- 1:04:01So and it's also has a little bit of daily Disneyland Paris in
- 1:04:04the end of this one. But anyway, their romantic
- 1:04:07suspense, if you like that kind of thing.
- 1:04:09Again, all available on Amazon, but that's what I've been up to.
- 1:04:11I've been writing a time and working on our history with Kate
- 1:04:14and Kirk podcast. I do that usually every episode
- 1:04:18of that takes about 8 to 10 hours of prep time and then a
- 1:04:21lots of editing afterwards. So, and it's interesting because
- 1:04:25in the podcast we've now had, it's grown since that we started
- 1:04:30it, obviously, but it's grown in the way of our community now
- 1:04:33contributes to the episodes. So we have people, we have
- 1:04:37Imagineers, former Imagineers, we have cast members, we have
- 1:04:40just Disney history fans and historians that have all given
- 1:04:43us resources to make these series as complete as possible
- 1:04:48because we're creating a historic record of these rides
- 1:04:50in a way that nobody ever has before.
- 1:04:53So that's why we're in the Tower of Terry, Tower of Terror series
- 1:04:56right now and we're on. So 16 is the one I just edited
- 1:05:01and we're just in the second library of the queue.
- 1:05:05So, so you're condensing your series is where I'm here.
- 1:05:08Like you've really made some hard decisions about what to
- 1:05:12include and exclude. Got it.
- 1:05:16So we really tried to give as complete a picture as possible
- 1:05:18and use really cool resources like imaginary documents that
- 1:05:21have never been seen before are now on the podcast.
- 1:05:23So you can, you can listen to that anywhere you listen to
- 1:05:26podcasts and you can also watch it on my YouTube channel, just
- 1:05:30Disney Cicero. And then I also just make
- 1:05:32content in general. So anywhere on social media
- 1:05:34platforms, Disney, Cicero and I, if you like Disney history and,
- 1:05:39and, or need some encouragement, that's where you can find me.
- 1:05:42So. Yes, and if you're listening to.
- 1:05:45You're listening Highly, highly motivational.
- 1:05:47Yes, and if you're listening to this after the fact, we will
- 1:05:49include all of Kate's info in the show description.
- 1:05:53That way you guys can find our wonderful former Co host Kate
- 1:05:58but still friend and BFF of the podcast.
- 1:06:03I love you guys. I'm like such a huge Mom St.
- 1:06:06fan. I always will be and I'm I'm sad
- 1:06:08that I don't get to catch it as much as I do just because I'm
- 1:06:10busy writing all these books. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:06:12How many books are you working on right now, Kate?
- 1:06:15At least two books that you're writing right now, right.
- 1:06:17It's got. To be 7 two, 2 1/2 that I'm
- 1:06:19currently writing so I I have another another one and I have
- 1:06:23the third one in the moments of magic books that's actually all
- 1:06:27about love and the way we experience love within the lens
- 1:06:30of Disney history. And so it's not just like
- 1:06:32romantic love, it's also so friends and, you know, mentors
- 1:06:36and, you know, colleagues and the, all the different aspects
- 1:06:39of ways we experience love spoken throughout the, the, the
- 1:06:43lens of Disney history. And then I'm starting a new
- 1:06:47series that I'm, I already wrote the first two chapters on that
- 1:06:50is his historical fiction. Sorry, I can't talk historical
- 1:06:54fiction set in Disneyland and this first one set in 1955.
- 1:06:59And it is a romantic, romantic tale, but it is definitely
- 1:07:03historical fiction. So it will plop you down in 1955
- 1:07:06and, and let you live in what Disneyland was like during that
- 1:07:09time period. So.
- 1:07:11So excited, so excited for that one.
- 1:07:14Yeah. So the other half is a surprise
- 1:07:16I can't tell you about yet, but it's going to be a good one and
- 1:07:18I think you'll enjoy it. So that's all I have to say
- 1:07:20about that. Teaser oh, it's a mystery.
- 1:07:23So your first I know breaking news cut out the so yeah you you
- 1:07:29better you better follow Kate if you want to find out what's
- 1:07:32going on with that so that way you don't miss anything.
- 1:07:36Well, I I am sad to say that we have come to the end, but thank
