- 0:00Speaker 1: What up, y'all?
- 0:00Speaker 2: It's your boy, Kemo State.
- 0:01Speaker 1: Tony Baker.
- 0:02Speaker 2: And our special guest.
- 0:04Speaker 3: Hi, guys.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Melissa Ford is back, y'all.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Melissa Ford, gesticulation, innovation, Scrabble champion. This is the Bob
- 0:12Speaker 2: Brothers Rewatch Podcast.
- 0:14Speaker 4: Anytime we have a guest on the pod for the Rewatch,
- 0:18Speaker 4: we are rewatching one of their favorite movies. Melissa Ford
- 0:22Speaker 4: submitted to Tony and I to rewatch Primal Fear.
- 0:26Speaker 3: I had a few options beforehand, but they mixed those.
- 0:29Speaker 5: Tell the people about the option you gave me.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Okay, so there's this movie called The Skin I Live In,
- 0:35Speaker 3: I believe it's called. It's got Antonio Banderas in it.
- 0:38Speaker 3: It's got subtitles. But I promise you, it's worth the watch.
- 0:43Speaker 3: And then I also loved Under the Skin.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I saw that one.
- 0:46Speaker 3: With Scarlett Johansson.
- 0:47Speaker 2: What's she doing with skin?
- 0:48Speaker 1: I don't like.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Well, I don't know.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Skin McGee. I don't like it.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Those two movies, they're extraordinarily cerebral and heavy.
- 0:58Speaker 1: And weird.
- 0:59Speaker 3: And weird. So they told me no. They said, pick
- 1:02Speaker 3: some normal shit, Melissa. And more than seven people have fucking.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Seen Under the Skin. I've never heard of a movie
- 1:10Speaker 1: that's saying a lot.
- 1:11Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:12Speaker 1: I've never even heard of it.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I was like, what the hell is this?
- 1:14Speaker 3: So, all right. So the movie is Primal Fear.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:18Speaker 3: And come to find out, Kev had never seen it before.
- 1:20Speaker 3: I was like, oh my god.
- 1:24Speaker 2: And I'm a huge Edward Norton fan. This was his
- 1:27Speaker 2: breakout role. I know. Now I know. I went back
- 1:30Speaker 2: and did my research.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Laura Linney, Richard Gere was great.
- 1:35Speaker 1: Andre Brouwer.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Andre Brouwer.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Hair. He did have.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Hair in that joint. He had hair, no lineup.
- 1:41Speaker 3: He did have hair.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Francis McDormand in there. Francis McDormand is in that thing.
- 1:44Speaker 2: The dad from Frasier walking around good.
- 1:47Speaker 1: I said, what you doing walking around? And being a
- 1:49Speaker 1: mean person. That cast, Alfre Woodard is the judge.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Alfre Woodard is the judge.
- 1:53Speaker 1: That cast was crazy.
- 1:53Speaker 2: The cast was outrageous.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Let me get y'all my box office nerd real quick.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Oh yeah, man.
- 1:58Speaker 5: Primal Fear came out in 1996 and made $ 56 million domestically,
- 2:02Speaker 5: another $ 46. 5 million internationally for a total of $ 102 million
- 2:07Speaker 5: It was a nice little slow burn, sleeper hit that
- 2:11Speaker 5: people kept talking about. So it was hanging in there.
- 2:14Speaker 5: So it did well financially. And Edward Norton was up
- 2:19Speaker 5: for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.
- 2:21Speaker 2: Oh, was he? Yeah.
- 2:21Speaker 1: He lost to Cuba Gooding Jr.
- 2:24Speaker 5: For Jerry Maguire. How y'all feel about this? Do you
- 2:29Speaker 5: think Edward was robbed?
- 2:31Speaker 3: No, not robbed.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Not robbed.
- 2:33Speaker 3: Not robbed. Not robbed.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Not robbed.
- 2:35Speaker 3: I mean, because Cuba Gooding Jr., that just.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Show me the money.
- 2:39Speaker 3: I mean, come on now.
- 2:40Speaker 2: He was so good at robbing.
- 2:41Speaker 1: It was so mean worthy. Show me the money.
- 2:42Speaker 3: You know, the performance was so mean worthy and just
- 2:44Speaker 3: kind of sticks out in our heads.
- 2:46Speaker 5: And Edward, I believe, was the favorite because he had won.
- 2:49Speaker 5: He was winning the other award.
- 2:51Speaker 1: Golden Globes. You know he always got the other award show.
- 2:53Speaker 1: So he was leading up. I think he was the favorite,
- 2:55Speaker 1: but it was like Cuba Gooding Jr.
- 2:58Speaker 3: That was nice.
- 2:59Speaker 2: That was nice.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Totally, two totally different performance types.
- 3:02Speaker 4: And for sure, the way they vote Oscars, I'm actually
- 3:06Speaker 4: even more surprised that Cuba won.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Me too.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Because that role for Edward Norton, that is like the Oscars,
- 3:12Speaker 4: that's your type of thing.
- 3:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:14Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 3:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:16Speaker 4: Psychopath or mental instability, some sort of thing like that.
- 3:22Speaker 4: I'm really surprised that he won even more. And I
- 3:25Speaker 4: love Jerry Maguire.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Yeah, Jerry Maguire is great.
- 3:28Speaker 4: But man, it's just, and I don't think the Oscars
- 3:31Speaker 4: should vote like that. I don't like the idea of
- 3:34Speaker 4: an Oscar type of movie. I think you should be
- 3:37Speaker 4: if the role is, so I'm so mad that Eddie
- 3:39Speaker 4: Murphy didn't win for DreamWorks.
- 3:41Speaker 1: Oh, that's been burning your soul for centuries. On my coffin.
- 3:44Speaker 1: You go in.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Scratch in. Eddie Murphy should have won.
- 3:47Speaker 5: I wish I had $ 100 for every time you talk
- 3:50Speaker 5: about this.
- 3:52Speaker 2: I don't. Alan Arkin wasn't doing nothing, man.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Watch out.
- 3:57Speaker 2: He didn't do nothing. Bruh.
- 3:59Speaker 1: You saw a little bit of sunshine, right?
- 4:01Speaker 2: Yes. All right.
- 4:02Speaker 1: You got to make sure.
- 4:03Speaker 2: He didn't do nothing compared to what Eddie was doing
- 4:06Speaker 2: as Jimmy Early. The rise and fall of Jimmy Early
- 4:08Speaker 2: should have been his own movie. Just Eddie Murphy when
- 4:12Speaker 2: he was stringing up the heroin and they was telling
- 4:15Speaker 2: him to watch out. The way he was like. And
- 4:19Speaker 2: they was like, I can't take this. And then the
- 4:21Speaker 2: dude left, man. I don't know. I can't even bring
- 4:23Speaker 2: nothing close to that in no Little Miss Sunshine. It's
- 4:25Speaker 2: just Quirky McGee and White. Yeah. Quirk, quirk, quirk.
- 4:30Speaker 1: Man, Hollywood loves Alan.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Arkin, man.
- 4:32Speaker 1: It could have been like, we owe you for this.
- 4:33Speaker 1: It was Jamie Lee Curtis again.
- 4:35Speaker 2: It's like, bro, who cares? That role wasn't Oscar worthy.
- 4:39Speaker 1: He did more than Jamie Lee did in anywhere about
- 4:42Speaker 1: to do anything.
- 4:42Speaker 2: No, I don't mean that. I mean like, we love
- 4:45Speaker 2: your career.
- 4:45Speaker 4: We don't know if we're going to have another chance
- 4:47Speaker 4: to give you an Oscar. It's like that stuff be
- 4:49Speaker 4: weighing in.
- 4:51Speaker 5: And they probably hated on Eddie Murphy because of what
- 4:52Speaker 5: he said at the Oscars years before.
- 4:54Speaker 1: For sure. We ain't forgot.
- 4:57Speaker 2: And Norbit.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I don't think Norbert heard. No, he said that in
- 5:01Speaker 1: his documentary. That's what he said, but.
- 5:02Speaker 5: I think it's more to do with what he said
- 5:04Speaker 5: when he was at the Oscars.
- 5:05Speaker 2: You don't believe what he said?
- 5:06Speaker 1: Because he put them on blast.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Big time. And I feel like they probably- I think
- 5:10Speaker 2: it was that.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:12Speaker 2: But anyway, I'm sorry.
- 5:12Speaker 3: And also, he doesn't go.
- 5:14Speaker 2: No, he don't go.
- 5:15Speaker 3: No, he doesn't go.
- 5:16Speaker 5: So they was just like, no, you don't fuck with
- 5:18Speaker 5: us anyway, Eddie Murphy, Alan Arkin.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Sean Penn didn't do a thing.
- 5:23Speaker 1: He don't be showing up either.
- 5:24Speaker 2: He didn't come to know. They didn't campaign.
- 5:26Speaker 1: This ain't the first time.
- 5:28Speaker 2: He's notorious for it. They're like, oh, you hate us?
- 5:30Speaker 1: Yeah. Oscar.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Yeah. Charles Clinton wasn't at one party. He wasn't even
- 5:36Speaker 2: in America.
- 5:36Speaker 1: He did zero campaigning.
- 5:37Speaker 3: Yeah, because he's usually off somewhere, like, I don't know,
- 5:39Speaker 3: like in Ukraine. He's just always doing something.
- 5:42Speaker 2: Humanitarian McGee.
- 5:43Speaker 3: Next to the president.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Literally on the front lines.
- 5:45Speaker 2: He's like, I can't go.
- 5:47Speaker 3: I'm doing other shit.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Literally.
- 5:48Speaker 3: I'm saving the world.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Michael B.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Jordan, Ryan Coogler, Sinner's cast went to 7,642 events. They did. Campaigning.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Sean Penn was like, I'm at the house. Tell them
- 5:57Speaker 2: I'm over at the Ukraine.
- 5:59Speaker 4: That man was watching WNBA games at the crib.
- 6:03Speaker 2: And they had him that Oscar, and he wasn't there neither.
- 6:06Speaker 2: He didn't even go to the Oscar.
- 6:07Speaker 1: We'll be on the front lines. I'm interviewing the president
- 6:10Speaker 1: of Ukraine. So tell me about you. Is that my
- 6:12Speaker 1: daughter in there?
- 6:14Speaker 3: I mean, but that role was pretty great.
- 6:16Speaker 5: Listen.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I was. That role was pretty crazy.
- 6:18Speaker 2: That's the thing. But my point, Melissa.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Ford, is one way or the other.
- 6:21Speaker 2: I know.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I get it.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I overstand.
- 6:22Speaker 4: Either you got to do the stuff or your work
- 6:25Speaker 4: stands on it. You can't pick and choose when you
- 6:27Speaker 4: got to do it and when the work stands on
- 6:29Speaker 4: its own.
- 6:29Speaker 1: I don't know if Eddie campaigned.
- 6:31Speaker 3: Who?
- 6:32Speaker 2: Eddie?
- 6:33Speaker 4: No.
- 6:33Speaker 2: Well, nope.
- 6:34Speaker 3: Let me stand back. I don't know.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I don't remember him doing heavy campaigning.
- 6:37Speaker 3: I just don't remember that.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't remember that either.
- 6:39Speaker 1: I don't hold you.
- 6:40Speaker 5: All I know is he put the Oscars on the grill.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Rightfully so. At the Oscars.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Is it possible that his, not his work, but he
- 6:53Speaker 3: and his performance was overshadowed because there was so much
- 6:57Speaker 3: talk about Jennifer Hudson? That was the campaign everybody was watching.
- 7:01Speaker 2: But see, that's a good point.
- 7:03Speaker 3: And I obviously know man, woman, different, you know, supporting actor,
- 7:06Speaker 3: supporting actor.
- 7:06Speaker 4: But even everything, everyone all at once. It was the
- 7:08Speaker 4: same thing. It was Ki-Hoo-Kwon.
- 7:12Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:12Speaker 4: It was Jamie Lee. It was Stephanie Sue. It was
- 7:14Speaker 4: Michelle Yeoh. It was all up for that movie.
- 7:18Speaker 1: You could definitely rank up for the same movie, yeah.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Ki-Won?
- 7:21Speaker 1: I don't think Jennifer Hudson heard him at all.
- 7:23Speaker 4: No, I think she was actually a really big surprise. Yeah,
- 7:26Speaker 4: I don't think she heard him at all. That she
- 7:27Speaker 4: actually won that.
- 7:28Speaker 2: But anyway, Primal Fear.
- 7:30Speaker 1: Melissa Ford.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Okay, so Primal Fear comes on the TV one day
- 7:33Speaker 3: and I was like, oh shit, I love this movie.
- 7:36Speaker 3: And you guys, I love to re-watch.
- 7:37Speaker 2: No, let's go back before that.
- 7:39Speaker 1: What?
- 7:39Speaker 4: Your first time watching it. What made you want to
- 7:42Speaker 4: watch Primal Fear the first time? Did you watch it
- 7:44Speaker 4: in theaters?
- 7:45Speaker 3: Murder, death, kill shit?
- 7:46Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:47Speaker 1: You saw it in the theater? Yeah.
- 7:49Speaker 2: Okay.
- 7:50Speaker 3: 96?
- 7:50Speaker 1: You was a baby then.
- 7:51Speaker 3: I was 20.
- 7:52Speaker 1: You was a baby back then.
- 7:55Speaker 3: I was a moviegoer.
- 7:56Speaker 1: OK.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Loved it. Loved it. And because, I mean, Richard Gere
- 7:58Speaker 3: was him. And then, like you said, it has the
- 8:00Speaker 3: all-star cast.
- 8:01Speaker 2: Really good cast.
- 8:02Speaker 3: Just the premise of the movie itself was so dope.
- 8:06Speaker 3: You know, like a Catholic priest gets mauled to death.
- 8:09Speaker 3: And nobody knows what did it and who did it.
- 8:11Speaker 3: And then introducing Edward Norton. And it just, you know,
- 8:14Speaker 3: it was right up my alley. You know what's so interesting?
- 8:16Speaker 4: I had heard of Primal Fear, never seen a trailer,
- 8:18Speaker 4: never seen nothing. didn't know what it was about, pressed
- 8:22Speaker 4: play with the Patreon blind. And I said, oh, now
- 8:27Speaker 4: because of Catholicism, what's happened? I'm like, well, he did something.
- 8:31Speaker 1: On the top.
- 8:32Speaker 2: He was up to no good. But at that time,
- 8:34Speaker 2: that wasn't as prevalent. In 96, that.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Well, awareness of it wasn't.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Well, you know they was doing.
- 8:40Speaker 1: It was definitely prevalent, but it just wasn't in the news. Awareness, right,
- 8:43Speaker 1: for sure.
- 8:44Speaker 3: So back in 1996, loved the movie. I've seen it
- 8:47Speaker 3: over the course of the last 30-something years. 30 years, like,
- 8:51Speaker 3: multiple times, but I hadn't seen it maybe in about
- 8:54Speaker 3: 10 years when I saw it on TV.
- 8:57Speaker 2: How much did you remember of it?
- 9:00Speaker 3: I remembered, like, 98% of it.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Oh, dang. Yeah.
- 9:04Speaker 1: That's a good time. Hell yeah.
- 9:06Speaker 3: 98% of it. It was just such a really good movie,
- 9:09Speaker 3: and it's just so right up my alley. And so
- 9:13Speaker 3: when it gets to the end, I hit Tony, and
- 9:15Speaker 3: I was like, yo.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 9:17Speaker 3: The next episode we should do, inviting myself back to
- 9:19Speaker 3: the show.
- 9:20Speaker 2: We already said you talk about movies. Thank you.
- 9:25Speaker 3: But I was just like, what if we focus on movies,
- 9:28Speaker 3: almost like a kind of Catch-22, where the protagonist is
- 9:32Speaker 3: faced with a decision that rocks their entire sense of
- 9:37Speaker 3: their identity. You know what I mean? I was like,
- 9:39Speaker 3: we could think of a bunch of, like a list
- 9:41Speaker 3: of movies like this. And so he was like, oh, yeah,
- 9:44Speaker 3: I like that. And so then we, you know... Pass
- 9:47Speaker 3: it on to you.
- 9:48Speaker 1: I never seen Prime and Fierce. That was perfect. I
- 9:51Speaker 1: like the fact that he had never seen it. No,
- 9:53Speaker 1: I loved it.
- 9:53Speaker 3: I loved it because now we got brand new perspective.
- 9:56Speaker 1: He coming in fresh. Yeah, he's coming in fresh.
- 9:59Speaker 5: I haven't seen Prime and Fierce since it was first
- 10:01Speaker 5: on video. Because when it was in theaters, I just
- 10:03Speaker 5: didn't care. Yeah, when it came out, I was just like,
- 10:07Speaker 5: Richard Gere, Edward Norton was a nobody to me at
- 10:09Speaker 5: that time, so he's not going to reel me in.
- 10:11Speaker 2: How much earlier was this than American History X?
- 10:14Speaker 3: Oh, like maybe eight years? A few years.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Oh, is that long?
- 10:17Speaker 1: Not eight years.
- 10:18Speaker 3: No, I feel like American History X came out in.
- 10:20Speaker 5: The early 2000s. It was like 99, 2000. This is 96,
- 10:23Speaker 5: so about four years.
- 10:25Speaker 1: Melissa Ford be jumping in loud. She be adding in
- 10:27Speaker 1: some extra.
- 10:27Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? American History X was 1998.
- 10:30Speaker 2: It was two years. All right, fine.
- 10:31Speaker 1: She just be saying stuff.
- 10:32Speaker 2: American History X came out in 2017.
- 10:34Speaker 1: And you know who else is in it? James Earl Jones.
- 10:36Speaker 1: James Earl Jones is in American History X.
- 10:39Speaker 2: I saw it live on Broadway.
- 10:41Speaker 1: It did not happen. Look it up. Josh, no.
- 10:44Speaker 2: I'll look it up. No? All right, sorry, y'all. OK, fine.
- 10:47Speaker 3: It was like two years later. I didn't, here's the
- 10:50Speaker 3: thing is, I did not realize that his star catapulted
- 10:54Speaker 3: that fast.
- 10:54Speaker 2: For sure.
- 10:55Speaker 3: That's number one. And number two, he looked drastically different
- 11:00Speaker 3: from Primal Fear to American.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Is He Next. He looked really young in Primal Fear.
- 11:05Speaker 1: That's what I mean.
- 11:05Speaker 3: He was a baby face in that.
- 11:07Speaker 2: He might have been nine. No, he was 27?
- 11:09Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 11:10Speaker 2: I think I looked it up when we were watching it.
- 11:12Speaker 1: He was 27 when that came out?
- 11:13Speaker 2: Let me tell you.
- 11:14Speaker 4: Because he was supposed to be 19. Primal Fear came
- 11:17Speaker 4: out in 19.
- 11:17Speaker 1: You look like a newborn, man.
- 11:19Speaker 4: He looked like a 17-year-old child. He was born in 1969,
- 11:22Speaker 4: and Primal Fear came out in 96.
- 11:23Speaker 2: 27. That's crazy. He looked 19. He did. Everything about Aaron.
- 11:32Speaker 2: I fully believe.
- 11:33Speaker 4: That Edward Norton was young, sheepish, you know, the hair
- 11:38Speaker 4: kind of everywhere. When I tell y'all, when I didn't know,
- 11:41Speaker 4: watching this movie, not knowing what was coming, when he
- 11:44Speaker 4: first looked.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Up, I was like.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Wait, hold on.
- 11:46Speaker 3: We have to preface this with spoiler alert.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. If you don't know by now... 1996. Spoilers.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Spoilers, y'all.
- 11:54Speaker 3: How about before this episode comes out, y'all say, this
- 11:57Speaker 3: is the movie that we're going to be discussing. So
- 11:58Speaker 3: if you haven't seen it, watch it so you can
- 12:00Speaker 3: participate in the conversation.
- 12:01Speaker 5: We do.
- 12:01Speaker 2: I watched it on my Patreon.
- 12:02Speaker 1: We did it. Yeah, they watched it.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Oh, OK.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Oh, OK. Now we do this, man.
- 12:06Speaker 2: Listen for it coming.
- 12:07Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 12:08Speaker 2: Words, wrong dates, and ideas.
- 12:11Speaker 3: I say it with conviction.
- 12:13Speaker 1: You know what you should do? Tell the people in
- 12:15Speaker 1: advance what y'all watching. Man, watch out, man. Okay, all right,
- 12:20Speaker 1: my bad, my bad. Carry on.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Sorry, sir.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Well, go ahead, go ahead.
- 12:26Speaker 3: No, you were saying, like, I want to know what
- 12:27Speaker 3: that felt like watching that moment because it was very
- 12:30Speaker 3: much a, like, no.
- 12:31Speaker 1: Fucking way kind of moment.
- 12:33Speaker 2: I paused it.
- 12:34Speaker 4: First, I thought this was going to be a court case,
- 12:37Speaker 4: court case, right? Just based on Richard Gere's attorney, I
- 12:39Speaker 4: figured it was going to be a court case, but
- 12:41Speaker 4: I don't know what it's going to be about.
- 12:43Speaker 2: No trailer. So when they cut the guy's fingers off,
- 12:46Speaker 2: I was.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Like, hold up, hold up.
- 12:47Speaker 2: What?
- 12:48Speaker 1: What movie am I watching? Smooth, smooth cut off. Stab, stab, stab.
- 12:51Speaker 4: If Edward Norton didn't even know he was in the movie,
- 12:53Speaker 4: because he's not in the Primal Fear when I went
- 12:55Speaker 4: to watch YouTube.
- 12:56Speaker 1: No, I didn't even. That's just a picture of Richard Gere.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Just a picture of Richard Gere.
- 12:59Speaker 2: So I was like, oh.
- 13:00Speaker 4: And I was like, I didn't know Edward Norton was
- 13:02Speaker 4: in this movie. And then I was like, oh, he's
- 13:04Speaker 4: in it for real. So he's running bloody. So I'm like, oh,
- 13:07Speaker 4: we kicking it off. This movie is off to the races.
- 13:10Speaker 4: And then I'm like, OK, so I'm thinking there's another guy.
- 13:13Speaker 4: I'm buying Richard Gere's whole thing. Because I'm like, there's
- 13:17Speaker 4: no way this dude killed that man. It just doesn't
- 13:20Speaker 4: seem it. So what's the angle? Who did it? I'm
- 13:23Speaker 4: thinking the roommate. Because roommate keeps running every time.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Yeah, he's running hard. He was like.
- 13:28Speaker 1: He ran through the whole city of Chicago.
- 13:30Speaker 3: If anybody's ever watched Chicago PD, that was Antonio.
- 13:33Speaker 1: John Cena. Yeah.
- 13:36Speaker 2: John Cena.
- 13:36Speaker 1: From I Like It Like That.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Yes.
- 13:38Speaker 1: That's my little obscure movie.
- 13:40Speaker 2: He's also Selena's husband in Selena. Yeah, he is.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I saw Selena.
- 13:43Speaker 2: I was in it. You did not. Tony ain't seen Selena,
- 13:45Speaker 2: Melissa Ford.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Really? He was also in Bad Boys 2, which I saw.
- 13:50Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 13:50Speaker 4: He was in either Pacific or Band of Brothers. One
- 13:53Speaker 4: of my favorite HBO movies. Might have been specific.
- 13:56Speaker 1: He's got a good resume.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a great actor.
- 13:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:58Speaker 2: But when he's running, I'm like, oh, this dude. He
- 14:01Speaker 2: did it.
- 14:01Speaker 1: He did it.
- 14:02Speaker 2: Yeah. He actually looks like a person who could stab.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:05Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying? Like, he goes to the
- 14:06Speaker 4: homeless area. I'm like, oh, that dude did it. But like, how, why, when, what's,
- 14:10Speaker 4: and then you see the sex tape. And I'm like, oh, sure.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Which I didn't see that coming either. I said, hey.
- 14:15Speaker 3: I know.
- 14:15Speaker 1: We all were like, uh, cheeks and tits. Shirt on.
- 14:18Speaker 2: Take them in your mouth.
- 14:20Speaker 1: Man. I was like, bro. It was.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Go.
- 14:23Speaker 1: You wild as hell.
- 14:24Speaker 4: But when Roy first appears, I said, hold on. Now
- 14:29Speaker 4: I signed up for a totally different movie. And I like,
- 14:32Speaker 4: it reminded me immediately of Split. It reminded me of Fallen.
- 14:36Speaker 4: Anytime somebody's like, possessed, split personality. And also, Edward Norton
- 14:43Speaker 4: has played that role before. He's not split, but in
- 14:49Speaker 4: American History X, I've seen that version.
- 14:51Speaker 2: Of Edward Norton. That angry, evil, violent person.
- 14:55Speaker 4: So I'm like, now this is probably why they gave
- 14:57Speaker 4: you American History X. Because of how you portrayed Roy.
- 15:02Speaker 4: So I'm like, oh, this is good. And then the
- 15:04Speaker 4: cat and mouse with Laura Linney and.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Richard Gere, she was formidable. Lord Lenny.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Man, she bring it every time.
- 15:11Speaker 3: She is a beast.
- 15:12Speaker 5: Every time she show up, we're like, oh, we cooking now.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I already know she's going to bring it.
- 15:17Speaker 2: Truman Show.
- 15:17Speaker 5: Ozark.
- 15:18Speaker 2: She's in Lanterns right now.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Mystic River.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Mystic River.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Is that my daughter in there?
- 15:24Speaker 2: And then this, like. Oh, no.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Life of David Gale.
- 15:31Speaker 1: With Kevin Spacey.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Have you seen it?
- 15:32Speaker 1: I haven't seen it, though. You know what's funny?
- 15:34Speaker 2: Oh my God, that's another one.
- 15:37Speaker 3: That is another fucking Catch-22 kind of little situation.
- 15:40Speaker 2: Oh my God. Melissa Ford brings her movies from the library.
- 15:43Speaker 1: She's like, they don't have this. I thought they hated it.
- 15:46Speaker 2: So you and Blockbuster are like, no, Melissa, we don't
- 15:48Speaker 2: have that. Go to the local life. We don't have
- 15:51Speaker 2: Three Chickens Feet from West Chicago.
- 15:55Speaker 5: That's the movie they was like, yo, watch this next
- 15:58Speaker 5: on YouTube. When I watched Primal Fear, the life of
- 16:00Speaker 5: David Gill was just like, Oh, really?
- 16:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:04Speaker 1: That's funny that you brought that up, unless they chose
- 16:06Speaker 1: you as well.
- 16:06Speaker 3: No, I watched The Life of David Gale back in, what,
- 16:10Speaker 3: 1996 when it came out, whatever year it was. It
- 16:13Speaker 3: was a long-ass time ago. But it is a really, really,
- 16:16Speaker 3: really good movie. Because I was a huge Kevin Spacey fan,
- 16:19Speaker 3: like most people were.
- 16:21Speaker 2: Yeah, he was good.
- 16:23Speaker 4: So for the most part, I'm thinking, yo, Laura Linney,
- 16:28Speaker 4: she's beating Richard Gere.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:29Speaker 4: Like, he's supposed to be the attorney who's winning. But
- 16:33Speaker 4: once the tape came in and she played him, I said, aw.
- 16:37Speaker 2: She was... Boy, when I tell you he thought he
- 16:39Speaker 2: had her, she said, man, watch out.
- 16:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:41Speaker 2: What you think? I'm going to use this tape?
- 16:43Speaker 1: I was like, dang.
- 16:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:45Speaker 4: And the way she worked it, I was like, he's done.
- 16:47Speaker 4: I don't know what he's going to do.
- 16:49Speaker 5: He was cracking under the pressure because she was cooking him.
- 16:52Speaker 5: That's why he was cussing out his team.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Yeah, he pushed Andre Bauer. Do your fucking job. And
- 16:56Speaker 1: the mom from Liar Liar. Pressure was on, yeah. Yeah.
- 17:00Speaker 1: News radio as well.
- 17:01Speaker 4: So I'm like, dang. I don't know how he's going
- 17:04Speaker 4: to do that. So once that happened, I was like, yo,
- 17:07Speaker 4: this is really good. And it's also a really well-casted movie.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah, the cast is crazy.
- 17:12Speaker 4: They put some people up in that movie. But yeah,
- 17:16Speaker 4: it was super... Because I was tired. I came back
- 17:20Speaker 4: from the road. I was like, man, I got to
- 17:21Speaker 4: watch this movie. Melissa Ford.
- 17:23Speaker 2: Yeah. She coming in with a movie I ain't never seen.
- 17:25Speaker 2: I missed this movie completely. Yeah. But I was 13
- 17:28Speaker 2: when this came out. You're 96, man.
- 17:29Speaker 1: Different time.
- 17:30Speaker 2: I couldn't go to see Primal Fear.
- 17:31Speaker 3: I really like to watch movies that can stand the
- 17:33Speaker 3: test of time. Like we talked about last one, last episode, Seven.
- 17:37Speaker 3: Seven is a movie that you are- It's timeless. You
- 17:41Speaker 3: don't notice the things that age the movie. It just
- 17:44Speaker 3: goes right over your head.
- 17:45Speaker 5: That could have came out yesterday and still hit.
- 17:48Speaker 4: They don't even need to remake Seven because of how well.
- 17:51Speaker 3: It got them. Nobody ever try, ever.
- 17:54Speaker 1: Don't time it. Leave it the fuck alone. I will protest.
- 17:58Speaker 3: I will protest, boycott, I'll do.
- 18:00Speaker 2: All the things.
- 18:01Speaker 1: I will come back from the grave. For what?
- 18:03Speaker 2: No.
- 18:04Speaker 1: There's no point. I will come back from the grave.
- 18:07Speaker 3: I mean, well.
- 18:09Speaker 1: Mahershala Ali is Morgan Freeman. Make something else with him.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Yes, make something else with Mahershala Ali.
- 18:13Speaker 1: That's all you got to do.
- 18:14Speaker 3: Mahershala Ali.
- 18:15Speaker 1: I'd come back from the grave if I pass away.
- 18:17Speaker 3: I'm sorry, he's so cute.
- 18:19Speaker 1: I love Mahershala, you know what I'm saying? I do too.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Okay, so what do you think draws you back to
- 18:25Speaker 2: Primal Fear?
- 18:26Speaker 3: Primal Fear, so first of all, so we discussed the
- 18:30Speaker 3: idea of making a list of movies that feature like
- 18:33Speaker 3: a catch-22. What's the catch-22? Okay, so here's the thing.
- 18:38Speaker 3: It's not a typical catch-22. So the catch-22 is oftentimes
- 18:42Speaker 3: the protagonist has to make like a choice. It's the
- 18:47Speaker 3: proverbial rock, you know, in a hard place kind of choice.
- 18:51Speaker 3: And usually it's horrific. Like Sophie's choice is, If you know,
- 18:55Speaker 3: you know, we're not discussing that fucking here. But that
- 18:58Speaker 3: is a stereotypical Catch-22 film. What a lot of the
- 19:03Speaker 3: films I think we're going to discuss here is it's
- 19:06Speaker 3: an aftermath.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Oh, for sure.
- 19:09Speaker 3: That happens. So what happens is usually the character has
- 19:15Speaker 3: shown you who they are. You fully understand their identity,
- 19:18Speaker 3: their sense of self, what they're convicted to. And then
- 19:22Speaker 3: towards the end is the choice that is completely at
- 19:28Speaker 3: odds with the very fiber of their being. And in
- 19:32Speaker 3: this way, he was a prosecutor. He said, fuck that shit.
- 19:37Speaker 3: I want more money. I'm going to criminal fucking defense.
- 19:40Speaker 3: Knowing that the majority of his clients are guilty as fuck,
- 19:45Speaker 3: but it's a game to him.
- 19:46Speaker 1: It's a game, man.
- 19:47Speaker 3: Because he's like, let me see how good.
- 19:48Speaker 1: I am to get you off. You know what I'm saying?
- 19:51Speaker 3: And so he's getting off the worst of the worst
- 19:53Speaker 3: of the worst, and then here comes this angelic kid,
- 19:57Speaker 3: and he is just like, think I actually have an
- 20:00Speaker 3: innocent client for once. Oh my God. No, we got
- 20:02Speaker 3: to do this.
- 20:03Speaker 2: More obligation McGee now.
- 20:05Speaker 3: This is going to be the ultimate test of my abilities.
- 20:09Speaker 3: Nobody can say shit to me. And you don't even
- 20:11Speaker 3: have no bread.
- 20:11Speaker 5: And his team was like, yo, this kid is guilty.
- 20:14Speaker 5: Andre Brown from the jump was like, that's a bullshit story.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Nah, man.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Nah, y'all.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Andre Brown didn't buy it at all.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Andre read that second one. He's like, what you saying?
- 20:23Speaker 1: He was trying to hush him up. Nah, hush up.
- 20:26Speaker 1: He was like, I didn't see that, exactly.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Exactly, so we go through the entire film And we
- 20:33Speaker 3: believe it, too.
- 20:34Speaker 2: For sure.
- 20:35Speaker 3: And then it gets to the end where he's just like, oh,
- 20:38Speaker 3: I did good. I feel good. I got the right thing.
- 20:41Speaker 1: He's proud of himself. He's so proud of himself.
- 20:43Speaker 3: I thought the movie was.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Over, y'all. And I thought it was good.
- 20:46Speaker 1: He was proud of himself. He was like, man.
- 20:48Speaker 3: And then he was like, ask, what was her name?
- 20:51Speaker 2: Venable.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Sorry about her name.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Venable.
- 20:53Speaker 3: Ask Miss Venable how her neck is. And he backs up.
- 20:56Speaker 3: He was like.
- 20:56Speaker 2: I paused the movie. I said, hold up. You just
- 21:00Speaker 2: told us.
- 21:01Speaker 1: You blacked out. It was big black. I thought you
- 21:04Speaker 1: never remembered your blackout.
- 21:06Speaker 2: What is this? He did this?
- 21:08Speaker 3: But let me tell you what the most brilliant part
- 21:10Speaker 3: of Edward's performance was at that.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Moment, is the fact that he spoke Roy's words in
- 21:14Speaker 1: Aaron's voice, delicate.
- 21:15Speaker 3: Soft voice.
- 21:16Speaker 2: I said, oh.
- 21:29Speaker 3: That's a fucking choice.
- 21:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:31Speaker 3: That was a brilliant choice.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Yes, it was.
- 21:33Speaker 3: And that's what got him the nomination.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 3: That, the whole performance, but just like that little tiny nuance.
- 21:39Speaker 5: A little touch, a little seasoning on it. And you
- 21:41Speaker 5: know what else I like too? It was like, okay,
- 21:44Speaker 5: the twist is he has this, dissociative other personality. So
- 21:49Speaker 5: now we know, okay, he did do it. It wasn't
- 21:52Speaker 5: a third person, technically. It was just, so now this
- 21:56Speaker 5: poor kid is suffering from... So that was the twist.
- 21:59Speaker 5: So we thought that was the twist. So we were like, oh,
- 22:03Speaker 5: you gotta say the innocent one. And then when.
- 22:08Speaker 1: He was just like... That was all bullshit, man. Aaron
- 22:11Speaker 1: is the one I created.
- 22:12Speaker 4: That's the part when I was like, you mother fucker.
- 22:16Speaker 3: And then when he said, I had to kill Linda.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Just casually.
- 22:21Speaker 2: That bitch.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Casually. Linda gone.
- 22:25Speaker 4: I was wondering, why is he freaking out about Linda
- 22:28Speaker 4: every time?
- 22:29Speaker 1: Poor Linda, man.
- 22:30Speaker 5: Linda didn't do nothing wrong. So the choice that Richard
- 22:33Speaker 5: Gere is left with.
- 22:33Speaker 3: Is If I... If I basically... The client... Client-lawyer confidentiality.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Right. Exactly.
- 22:46Speaker 3: If I go against that, not only am I disbarred,
- 22:50Speaker 3: I actually face, you know, face jail time.
- 22:53Speaker 1: For sure.
- 22:54Speaker 3: Okay? And also, I reveal... just, I reveal a weakness within,
- 23:00Speaker 3: you know? I reveal that I lost, you know?
- 23:02Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 23:02Speaker 1: He's done on so many levels.
- 23:04Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 23:04Speaker 2: He got played.
- 23:06Speaker 3: He got played. He got super played.
- 23:09Speaker 1: He got played like Nintendo 64.
- 23:10Speaker 2: I mean, Linda, he caused Laura Linney's job.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Oh, fuck that shit up as well.
- 23:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Laurel and his shit got fucked up.
- 23:17Speaker 2: And he should have smashed her a little bit in
- 23:19Speaker 2: the chambers. Y'all was all, the sexual tension was crazy.
- 23:22Speaker 1: I like the sexual tension.
- 23:23Speaker 3: She kept telling him, absolutely not. We've been down that road.
- 23:26Speaker 2: Fuck off.
- 23:26Speaker 1: I like it. We had a six-month, one-night stand.
- 23:29Speaker 4: Right.
- 23:29Speaker 1: I love that. I love that line. I love that.
- 23:31Speaker 1: That's what we be doing out here.
- 23:33Speaker 2: And he paid the 10K contempt of court. Yes.
- 23:36Speaker 1: He tried to get that off, and Alfie was like, no.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Alfie Woodard was like. The contempt is still there. I'm
- 23:40Speaker 1: going home.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Alfie Woodard was drinking straight whiskey at work. She was.
- 23:43Speaker 1: She was off the clock.
- 23:45Speaker 3: Brown.
- 23:46Speaker 1: She was like, y'all want some drinks? I know you
- 23:47Speaker 1: need a drink. You just got assaulted.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Big auntie wood. For sure. She had black women.
- 23:54Speaker 4: That wig went triple platinum in the black community.
- 23:58Speaker 2: I know six of my aunties who got that wig.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Alfie would have had that movie right now.
- 24:03Speaker 3: I just wanted them to put a little baby powder
- 24:06Speaker 3: in it. Just to take down the shine.
- 24:08Speaker 2: This thing was like.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Oh, it was shining for sure. It was big shine.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Shiny. It wasn't going nowhere. It was so shiny.
- 24:14Speaker 1: It was glistening in the courtroom.
- 24:15Speaker 3: So OK, so at the end of this movie, You
- 24:18Speaker 3: see him standing there and he's just, he's completely perplexed.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:23Speaker 3: You know, the bottom is like basically like fell out
- 24:26Speaker 3: from underneath of him. And it's up to the audience
- 24:29Speaker 3: to determine what does he do now? You know, what
- 24:31Speaker 3: does he do now? What's the choice does he make?
- 24:34Speaker 3: Does he send an anonymous note saying the motherfucker's guilty?
- 24:36Speaker 3: But it's just like he can't be retried again.
- 24:38Speaker 5: No.
- 24:38Speaker 3: Double jeopardy.
- 24:39Speaker 2: Right. Exactly.
- 24:40Speaker 4: Bitch trial, you're done. Alfred Woodard was like, I'm going
- 24:43Speaker 4: to bingo. It's over with.
- 24:45Speaker 5: Hey, he damn sure going to play whatever facility he's
- 24:48Speaker 5: going to for 30 days.
- 24:49Speaker 3: Oh, come on, man.
- 24:49Speaker 1: He about to play the shit out of them.
- 24:51Speaker 4: He played Francis McDormand from the... And the best part is,
- 24:54Speaker 4: to your point, Richard Tiffany.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Gere, which I did not realize that was his middle name.
- 24:59Speaker 1: That's his middle name?
- 25:00Speaker 2: Richard Gere's middle name is Tiffany.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Big Tiff.
- 25:02Speaker 2: Patron was like, well, Tiffany's killing this. I was like,
- 25:05Speaker 2: who is Tiffany? They're like, that's Richard Gere.
- 25:07Speaker 1: That's crazy. I looked it up. I said, Tiff. His
- 25:09Speaker 1: middle name is Tiffany.
- 25:10Speaker 3: His middle name is Tiffany?
- 25:12Speaker 2: Richard Tiffany Gere is that man's full name. No joke.
- 25:16Speaker 4: His mom's maiden name was Tiffany. They moved that to
- 25:19Speaker 4: his middle name. I never heard Tiffany as a last name.
- 25:22Speaker 5: That's why he always got the softness to him that
- 25:24Speaker 5: the ladies like.
- 25:25Speaker 2: That's that Tiffany in there.
- 25:26Speaker 1: That feminine energy in the middle.
- 25:27Speaker 3: Maybe that was it.
- 25:28Speaker 2: But yeah, Double Jeffrey would be good too. That's a
- 25:30Speaker 2: good suggestion.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Oh, that movie. I remember that movie.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Yeah, Ashley Judd, right?
- 25:33Speaker 1: Ashley Judd.
- 25:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 25:36Speaker 4: I feel like if this movie were to continue, Richard
- 25:38Speaker 4: Gere would be messed up. Because his whole confidence and
- 25:41Speaker 4: bravado was about being the smartest man in the room.
- 25:43Speaker 2: He really got outwitted by Laura Linney.
- 25:46Speaker 1: For sure.
- 25:46Speaker 2: He just got lucky. Or he played her. He played
- 25:50Speaker 2: her arrogance against herself, too. Because she went hard.
- 25:53Speaker 1: She did go hard. I knew you was going to
- 25:54Speaker 1: do that. So, yeah, I did.
- 25:56Speaker 2: But then they all was getting played by Roy because
- 25:58Speaker 2: he was waiting. He's like, I knew what you'd do
- 26:00Speaker 2: with your little mic thing, man. That was a nice touch.
- 26:02Speaker 2: And I know Richard Gere was probably like.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Wait, I thought I did.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Man, watch out.
- 26:08Speaker 4: But I did say, when I watched this movie, when
- 26:11Speaker 4: I started, I said, there's something Kaiser Soze about this movie.
- 26:14Speaker 4: I don't know what it was. I still didn't know.
- 26:16Speaker 4: When it happened, I said, well, dang, Kev, I forgot
- 26:18Speaker 4: I said that.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:20Speaker 2: But it happened so late in the movie.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Right.
- 26:23Speaker 4: Like, remember Kaiser Sozin? That final walk-off is like the
- 26:27Speaker 4: end of the movie. Usually those reveals come a little earlier.
- 26:30Speaker 4: Roy was like, I did this on purpose. I'm telling
- 26:33Speaker 4: you just because it's fun.
- 26:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Because he could have let him leave. He could have
- 26:36Speaker 1: let him just rock out.
- 26:37Speaker 2: He just was like, no, I want you to know. Yeah.
- 26:41Speaker 1: That I played you from the beginning.
- 26:42Speaker 5: I'm glad they addressed that, too, because I'll always be
- 26:44Speaker 5: pissed off there. Why you got to reveal everything?
- 26:46Speaker 1: Yeah, the villain. The villain revealed, just.
- 26:48Speaker 5: Like, that was my plan all along. Why are you
- 26:52Speaker 5: telling me you'll play? Just kill the hero.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Nah, the plan.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Because a narcissist has to let you know how they
- 26:58Speaker 3: beat you.
- 26:59Speaker 1: For sure. Oh, you didn't know?
- 27:01Speaker 3: And it was two narcissists up against each other.
- 27:05Speaker 1: For sure.
- 27:06Speaker 3: And so that's another part of it.
- 27:07Speaker 2: Three, if you include Laura Linney's character.
- 27:09Speaker 3: Well, no, because she doesn't. Maybe he tells her. Maybe
- 27:12Speaker 3: he doesn't. He probably keeps it to himself for the
- 27:14Speaker 3: rest of his life. And it fucking changes him.
- 27:16Speaker 2: She's just a good attorney.
- 27:17Speaker 1: She took that case, though, because Richard was representing him.
- 27:20Speaker 2: For sure. She wanted to beat him.
- 27:22Speaker 1: She did. And she lost. She did.
- 27:24Speaker 3: I think it's possible that he does end up telling her,
- 27:27Speaker 3: not right away, but maybe in a couple of years,
- 27:29Speaker 3: in a drunken moment. I don't know, maybe something they revisit.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly. Oh, he getting the Lenny's cheeks. He's getting
- 27:35Speaker 2: that Venable. For sure.
- 27:37Speaker 1: They gonna reconnect.
- 27:39Speaker 3: But he tells her as a way to, as a
- 27:43Speaker 3: show of love to her, actually, in a really strange way.
- 27:47Speaker 3: But her knowing the truth that, A, she was on
- 27:50Speaker 3: the right side of history in this particular situation, B,
- 27:55Speaker 3: that she had him figured out. She did have him
- 27:58Speaker 3: figured out.
- 27:58Speaker 4: She had him dead to rights multiple times. He was
- 28:01Speaker 4: in there like, I felt his stress. He was like,
- 28:06Speaker 4: I'm cooked.
- 28:08Speaker 2: I'm cooked. If it wasn't for Francis McDormand and that.
- 28:11Speaker 4: Videotape thing, or Roy doing his thing, he was cooked.
- 28:17Speaker 2: He knew, he was like, I lost. And I'm done.
- 28:22Speaker 3: So you walk away, like thinking, how does this change
- 28:26Speaker 3: Richard Gere forever? Because his whole concept of his identity
- 28:30Speaker 3: has been rocked. You know, so that's why.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Your gut is wrong. Yeah.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Because you thought your gut was right. And you was right,
- 28:38Speaker 4: but you was wrong. Because it was somebody else, but
- 28:40Speaker 4: it wasn't somebody else.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Right.
- 28:41Speaker 2: And are you guilty?
- 28:43Speaker 4: Like, if Roy wasn't evil, is that really murder if
- 28:49Speaker 4: your other personality kills somebody?
- 28:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:51Speaker 4: And then the judge is like, uh-uh, ain't no insanity plea.
- 28:54Speaker 4: You can't even go that route. Can't even go that route.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Can't even go that route.
- 28:58Speaker 3: And then you skirt the route.
- 28:59Speaker 2: And you did it anyway, basically. Yep.
- 29:02Speaker 1: And then here we are.
- 29:03Speaker 3: Yep.
- 29:04Speaker 5: And I also like the little subplot in a way
- 29:07Speaker 5: of the Shaughnessy situation.
- 29:09Speaker 2: I love that.
- 29:09Speaker 5: I like the little real estate issues and buying up
- 29:12Speaker 5: all the properties and being shady, him getting a dude
- 29:14Speaker 5: from Scarface whacked.
- 29:16Speaker 2: Got him killed.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:17Speaker 2: He said that too.
- 29:17Speaker 5: Because I was interested in those characters as well, even
- 29:20Speaker 5: though they weren't a big piece.
- 29:21Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 29:21Speaker 5: It was just like when they were walking through the
- 29:23Speaker 5: neighborhood and he was telling, he was with the alderman
- 29:24Speaker 5: that they tried.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Yep.
- 29:25Speaker 1: They tried to set me up against this alderman right here.
- 29:28Speaker 1: He legit. and then you like, ah.
- 29:30Speaker 2: And even though they were small characters, they completed those stories.
- 29:33Speaker 1: For sure.
- 29:34Speaker 2: Like they didn't just forget about them, don't waste those stories.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I like that.
- 29:38Speaker 4: They figured, they finished Shaughnessy, they figured Scarface dude, like,
- 29:42Speaker 4: everybody got.
- 29:43Speaker 5: And then it ties back into Richard Gere, knowing Shaughnessy
- 29:45Speaker 5: was dirty because he used to work with them cats.
- 29:48Speaker 5: Remember in the bar when he was revealing to that dude,
- 29:51Speaker 5: he was just like, I did some shady shit, you
- 29:53Speaker 5: know what I'm saying?
- 29:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:54Speaker 1: And then he was able to, he's like, don't fuck
- 29:56Speaker 1: with me. And then he's like, I'm gonna indeed fuck
- 29:58Speaker 1: with you.
- 29:58Speaker 2: He did. Frazier's dad was legit. Yeah.
- 30:02Speaker 3: He was scary.
- 30:03Speaker 4: I'd never seen him outside of Frazier's show. So I
- 30:05Speaker 4: was like, yo, this is like, you're a good actor.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:08Speaker 4: Because you are very believable as this corrupt person on
- 30:12Speaker 4: the stand. You was balling him up. I had to
- 30:15Speaker 4: look that up. I was like, was that sex? I'd
- 30:18Speaker 4: never heard that terminology. He was over there balling him up.
- 30:21Speaker 4: And I was like, oh, OK.
- 30:22Speaker 1: All right.
- 30:23Speaker 2: But no, that movie was legit, really, really good.
- 30:28Speaker 1: A little sleeper joint, man.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Sleeper joint. Yeah.
- 30:31Speaker 3: Okay, so the second movie that has a very similar
- 30:34Speaker 3: situation where the protagonist basically identifies them. You get a
- 30:42Speaker 3: feel for what their identity is, what they believe, what
- 30:44Speaker 3: their conviction is, right?
- 30:45Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 30:46Speaker 3: And they're presented with a choice that is a complete
- 30:52Speaker 3: affront to their convictions, to their faith, and to their identity.
- 30:58Speaker 3: But it's still a choice that needs to be made.
- 31:00Speaker 3: It's rock and a hard place. And that movie is
- 31:03Speaker 3: Million Dollar Baby.
- 31:04Speaker 4: Man, you're talking about a freaking amazing movie.
- 31:09Speaker 3: OK, so I went to the theater and saw that.
- 31:12Speaker 2: As well. Okay.
- 31:13Speaker 3: And this is one thing that I really loved about
- 31:17Speaker 3: not just this movie, but the moviegoer that went.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:21Speaker 3: There is that moment if, God, I hope you've seen
- 31:25Speaker 3: Million Dollar Baby, okay? Your book, okay. I see.
- 31:28Speaker 2: That's the one about the bank robberies and they had children.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Shut up.
- 31:32Speaker 3: Okay, the part where she's in the boxing ring and
- 31:35Speaker 3: she is beating the shit out of the dirty player.
- 31:38Speaker 3: And then she, what's that when you call it? What's
- 31:42Speaker 3: the word? Sucker punch. There we go. She sucker punched her.
- 31:45Speaker 3: And then she flips around and she breaks her neck
- 31:48Speaker 3: on the stool. Oh, my God. That was the best
- 31:51Speaker 3: kept secret amongst moviegoers. Nobody knew. There was no spoiler alert.
- 31:56Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. I had no clue that was about to happen.
- 31:58Speaker 3: So I was in a theater that had like 300
- 32:01Speaker 3: people in it. Big ass theater in New York City.
- 32:03Speaker 3: And when that moment happened, there was an audible gasp
- 32:06Speaker 3: in the theater. Everybody was like... Oh, my God.
- 32:09Speaker 2: I didn't know that from that moment on. She tried
- 32:11Speaker 2: to pull the stool out of him.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 32:14Speaker 1: When her head hit the stool, I was like... Oh, man, dog.
- 32:17Speaker 1: I was just like, whoa.
- 32:19Speaker 2: Right.
- 32:19Speaker 5: I didn't know we were going here with this.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Story like that. I thought I was watching a different movie.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:27Speaker 3: And so Clint Eastwood, he's faith-based. You know he's got
- 32:32Speaker 3: his certain convictions. You identify with him as he is.
- 32:35Speaker 2: And then....
- 32:39Speaker 3: She asks him, I need you to end my life.
- 32:44Speaker 3: And suicide is a sin to Catholics and Christians. So
- 32:48Speaker 3: he literally is like, I can't do that. But he
- 32:51Speaker 3: sees that she was such a beacon of light. She
- 32:56Speaker 3: was literally like an angel on earth. And to keep
- 32:59Speaker 3: her here trapped in this body, you know, that can't
- 33:02Speaker 3: move after she has seen the world and she had
- 33:05Speaker 3: people screaming her name. You can't let this beautiful creature
- 33:10Speaker 3: just languish here for the rest of her life. I mean,
- 33:15Speaker 3: you know.
- 33:15Speaker 2: That was a great word.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Language is good. I knew that one.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Now with two syllables, I'm with you. I was in
- 33:21Speaker 2: on that one.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Language only, yeah.
- 33:24Speaker 3: And then when he decides that he's going to do it,
- 33:26Speaker 3: he just, he's wringing his hands and there's nobody that
- 33:29Speaker 3: can help him with this decision. No one. He has
- 33:32Speaker 3: to make this on his own. It's an affront to
- 33:35Speaker 3: his convictions. He has to make this decision on his own.
- 33:38Speaker 3: And when he goes to her bedside, oh my God,
- 33:40Speaker 3: I could just start crying right now.
- 33:41Speaker 1: Hold it together. Hold it together.
- 33:46Speaker 2: Give me some Kleenex.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Hold it together, though. You know what I'm saying? Give
- 33:52Speaker 1: me some Kleenex. Hold it together, man. You know what
- 33:55Speaker 1: I'm saying? I'm sorry.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Tony just asked you to hold it together. Hold it together, man.
- 34:02Speaker 1: He leans in. What does he say?
- 34:07Speaker 3: He says, Makushla means my darling, my love.
- 34:09Speaker 2: Or something like that.
- 34:11Speaker 3: I was like, just fucking rip my fucking cornea.
- 34:15Speaker 2: That's why I can't watch Million Dollar Baby.
- 34:16Speaker 1: Oh, my God. One and done, man.
- 34:19Speaker 2: One and done. I said, oh, you're done, Clint Eastwood.
- 34:23Speaker 2: Every swing, you deserve the Oscar.
- 34:25Speaker 3: Back to back.
- 34:26Speaker 2: I'm out. Was it Boys Don't Cry?
- 34:28Speaker 3: Boys Don't Cry. I don't think it was Back to Back.
- 34:30Speaker 1: No, it wasn't Back to Back, but she got two.
- 34:32Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but it was Back to Back. It was
- 34:34Speaker 1: like maybe three, four years. Back to Back again. Boyz
- 34:37Speaker 1: II Men was like 2000. No concept of time. No,
- 34:39Speaker 1: absolutely not. It's all one year. It's all one year
- 34:43Speaker 1: or it's 20.
- 34:43Speaker 3: Blending in together.
- 34:44Speaker 2: I don't know how.
- 34:45Speaker 3: Old I am right now. This shit's wild. But now
- 34:48Speaker 3: it's out.
- 34:49Speaker 2: It was so well done.
- 34:50Speaker 4: It pulls your heart throws it on the ground, smashes
- 34:54Speaker 4: your heart with a sledgehammer.
- 34:55Speaker 1: It really does.
- 34:56Speaker 4: You feel for Clint Eastwood. You feel for her. And
- 34:59Speaker 4: you're just like, man, she didn't deserve that.
- 35:01Speaker 2: No. And you even.
- 35:04Speaker 4: Like, you put yourself in his shoes. If you don't
- 35:06Speaker 4: believe with it, you feel like, if I love you,
- 35:09Speaker 4: I got to do this.
- 35:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:11Speaker 4: Because my conviction, that's a great Sophie's Choice. My convictions
- 35:15Speaker 4: and my circumstance.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Yeah. And that's life. Sometimes your conviction is only your
- 35:22Speaker 2: conviction because it's untested. And once you actually have to.
- 35:25Speaker 5: Test it, you be like- It's the ultimate test.
- 35:27Speaker 2: It's the ultimate test. Who are you?
- 35:29Speaker 4: And that's, look, I don't want to get into this
- 35:31Speaker 4: too much, but it's how I grew up in the church,
- 35:34Speaker 4: how you're taught about gay people and those thought processes.
- 35:36Speaker 1: I know.
- 35:37Speaker 2: I know.
- 35:38Speaker 4: I'm going to say it. But then you start interacting
- 35:40Speaker 4: with people and you realize, oh no, this stuff is
- 35:43Speaker 4: destroying these people. I can't in good conscience.
- 35:47Speaker 2: Be a part of this. These people's lives are being ruined.
- 35:50Speaker 1: I refuse to be a part of this.
- 35:53Speaker 4: Maybe I don't know nobody or maybe you do and
- 35:55Speaker 4: it doesn't bother you, but it bothers me. And I
- 35:57Speaker 4: think that's what Clint Eastwood was like. I can't let
- 36:00Speaker 4: my faith stop me from My sense of humanity. My
- 36:04Speaker 4: sense of humanity.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Yeah. No, trust me.
- 36:06Speaker 3: That's what I'm talking about. I watch this movie. I
- 36:09Speaker 3: like to have my heart ripped out and stomped on.
- 36:11Speaker 2: You said that the first time.
- 36:12Speaker 1: I mean, honestly, if you look.
- 36:14Speaker 3: At my dating life, I mean, you definitely understand that
- 36:17Speaker 3: that is a fact.
- 36:18Speaker 2: Quick question, unrelated.
- 36:21Speaker 3: Shit, open the door.
- 36:22Speaker 2: No, no, no. Would the Dajon Love scammer.
- 36:26Speaker 4: Who the fuck are you bitches that fell for that shit?
- 36:30Speaker 3: Am I missing something? I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry
- 36:35Speaker 3: to the victims. I'm so sorry. That was a very
- 36:39Speaker 3: visceral reaction because I am confusion. I am confusion! $ 1.
- 36:44Speaker 4: 3 million, $ 1, 000 to $ 3, 000 at a time.
- 36:50Speaker 2: What are we talking about here? The scam was in
- 36:53Speaker 2: two years.
- 36:54Speaker 1: There are women out here that are giving up the money.
- 36:59Speaker 2: For sure.
- 36:59Speaker 1: To these dudes.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Otherwise, he wouldn't be in jail if it didn't work.
- 37:04Speaker 5: They are really out here looking to give money.
- 37:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:08Speaker 1: Wait, hold on one second.
- 37:10Speaker 3: I need to catch up one second. Just indulge us.
- 37:13Speaker 3: Why is he in jail?
- 37:14Speaker 2: He frauded.
- 37:15Speaker 4: So I think the charge is probably wire fraud or
- 37:20Speaker 4: some sort of fraud. But he was defrauding these women
- 37:22Speaker 4: out of their investments and convincing them that he was
- 37:25Speaker 4: going to invest their money.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Oh, OK. OK.
- 37:26Speaker 3: All right.
- 37:27Speaker 2: OK. OK.
- 37:28Speaker 3: He said he was going to.
- 37:28Speaker 2: It wasn't just regular tricking like, you know, he was like, OK.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 37:32Speaker 3: He was a Dirty John.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Got it.
- 37:33Speaker 2: Dirty John. Dirty John. Dirty John.
- 37:38Speaker 3: And I just don't get it. I don't get it.
- 37:42Speaker 1: I'm sorry. They say he's not even cute in the
- 37:44Speaker 1: chess world.
- 37:44Speaker 2: I'm not.
- 37:45Speaker 1: He's not even cute. That's what somebody said. He had
- 37:49Speaker 1: the football stuff on. He had the football helmet on.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Oh my God, that video of him running up and
- 37:52Speaker 3: down on the beach with the fucking football helmet.
- 37:55Speaker 1: That's so ridiculous.
- 37:56Speaker 2: Jesus Christ.
- 37:57Speaker 5: What NFL players doing that shit in real life?
- 38:00Speaker 2: You ain't never seen that. First of all. With the helmet.
- 38:03Speaker 2: They do work out on the beach.
- 38:04Speaker 1: They do work out on the beach all the time,
- 38:06Speaker 1: not with the helmet on.
- 38:06Speaker 3: First of all, they want to keep their helmets off.
- 38:08Speaker 5: I know.
- 38:09Speaker 3: Because they want to be seen. And why don't you
- 38:11Speaker 3: be able to recognize them? Basketball players get all the
- 38:14Speaker 3: shine because we see them.
- 38:15Speaker 1: You can see their face all the time.
- 38:16Speaker 3: You can see their face all fucking day. So that
- 38:18Speaker 3: was the.
- 38:19Speaker 4: Least athletic thing I've ever seen in my life. As
- 38:23Speaker 4: a non, I'm not a truly athletic person, but come on.
- 38:26Speaker 4: That man drew a play on a football.
- 38:27Speaker 2: You ain't never seen nobody.
- 38:29Speaker 1: You know who ready for the NFL and who not,
- 38:31Speaker 1: just by the run.
- 38:32Speaker 3: But wait, was he playing by himself, like with himself?
- 38:35Speaker 2: What do you mean?
- 38:35Speaker 3: On the beach.
- 38:36Speaker 2: I didn't see anybody else. He had his homeboy throwing
- 38:38Speaker 2: the pass at him. Oh my God.
- 38:40Speaker 3: It's trainer.
- 38:40Speaker 1: It's trainer.
- 38:41Speaker 2: We're off track, Melissa Ford.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 38:43Speaker 2: We only have 20 minutes left. We need to get
- 38:45Speaker 2: to the list. Oh, shit. Got it.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Okay.
- 38:46Speaker 3: Well, let me just say this as just, you know,
- 38:49Speaker 3: a goodbye kind of statement. I am not fucking somebody
- 38:53Speaker 3: and then trusting them to invest money. We are keeping
- 38:55Speaker 3: that shit separate.
- 38:56Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 38:56Speaker 3: Are you fucking crazy?
- 38:58Speaker 1: That is wild.
- 38:59Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 38:59Speaker 3: If my stock fucking tanks, I'm taking it the fuck
- 39:02Speaker 3: out on you.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Could you imagine... You climax, you roll.
- 39:06Speaker 3: Over, man.
- 39:07Speaker 1: That was great.
- 39:07Speaker 3: And then I find out I lost 100 grand because
- 39:09Speaker 3: of your fucking suggestion.
- 39:10Speaker 5: Are you crazy?
- 39:11Speaker 3: I hate you forever.
- 39:12Speaker 1: That was great.
- 39:13Speaker 5: You ever think about investing? What kind of post-sex conversation
- 39:17Speaker 5: is that?
- 39:17Speaker 3: No, that was great.
- 39:19Speaker 1: You ever think about investing in.
- 39:21Speaker 3: Crypto?
- 39:21Speaker 1: Yeah, NFTs. While y'all rinsing off. So Navidian style.
- 39:27Speaker 2: How much you willing to pay?
- 39:29Speaker 5: How often do you play the snaps, Melissa Ford?
- 39:32Speaker 2: No.
- 39:32Speaker 1: Okay.
- 39:33Speaker 5: All right.
- 39:34Speaker 3: Where are we at?
- 39:35Speaker 1: Going back.
- 39:36Speaker 2: Million Dollar Baby. Feel good about that?
- 39:37Speaker 3: I feel really. Okay. Million Dollar Baby.
- 39:40Speaker 2: Also.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Great pick.
- 39:41Speaker 3: Also, as I was watching the movie, I was like.
- 39:45Speaker 3: I didn't even think about Clint Eastwood as one of
- 39:48Speaker 3: my fucking favorite directors because this nigga's crazy.
- 39:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:52Speaker 3: Like, no.
- 39:53Speaker 2: I got to talk to you guys.
- 39:54Speaker 1: He is a good director.
- 39:54Speaker 3: I got to tell you about a moment, OK? So
- 39:56Speaker 3: I went to go see Flags of Our Fathers.
- 40:00Speaker 1: OK.
- 40:00Speaker 2: You'll be at the film.
- 40:01Speaker 3: In the theater, right? I remember that one. And so
- 40:03Speaker 3: I watched the theater. It was a wonderful movie directed
- 40:05Speaker 3: by Clint.
- 40:06Speaker 2: OK, great.
- 40:07Speaker 3: It was cool. OK, hold on. Months later, I'm back
- 40:10Speaker 3: in the theater.
- 40:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 40:12Speaker 3: And I'm watching Letters to Iwo Jima.
- 40:14Speaker 2: Mm-hmm.
- 40:15Speaker 1: Critics like that one better.
- 40:17Speaker 3: So I'm watching the movie, and there's this one scene
- 40:20Speaker 3: in the movie. It's this big mountain or some shit
- 40:23Speaker 3: like that. And I was like, I've seen this fucking
- 40:25Speaker 3: mountain before. What the fuck is going on? That's the
- 40:28Speaker 3: moment I realized that it was the same story, reverse angle.
- 40:33Speaker 3: The Japanese in Letters to Iwo Jima, and then the
- 40:36Speaker 3: American and British soldiers in Flags. And I said, has
- 40:41Speaker 3: any other director ever done that before? I don't know.
- 40:44Speaker 5: It was an ambitious move that he did.
- 40:46Speaker 1: Sorry. It was ambitious as hell.
- 40:48Speaker 2: I'm all over the place.
- 40:50Speaker 1: No, you're not.
- 40:50Speaker 2: The Patreon is funny today. They said, what's up with
- 40:53Speaker 2: them stocks tonight? Somebody said he had his legs were
- 40:59Speaker 2: a step above wheelchair legs.
- 41:03Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 41:04Speaker 2: That was well noted. Thank you.
- 41:07Speaker 1: Well noted. Clint Eastwood did do that. That was hella ambitious.
- 41:10Speaker 2: For sure.
- 41:11Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 41:11Speaker 2: For sure.
- 41:12Speaker 3: That was brilliant.
- 41:12Speaker 2: He's still alive. He's like 96.
- 41:14Speaker 1: Yeah, he's up there. I think he officially retired recently.
- 41:17Speaker 2: He's surviving off of pure racism now.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Yeah. He retired recently. Oh, did he?
- 41:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:22Speaker 1: Once he announced his retirement, I was like, I don't
- 41:24Speaker 1: think he has long.
- 41:25Speaker 3: I think I Googled it. Is Clint Eastwood racist?
- 41:28Speaker 2: Yeah, he had some stuff. The invisible chair.
- 41:30Speaker 1: He's got some ideologies that's like, nah, bro.
- 41:34Speaker 2: Yeah. Big white. And old white.
- 41:37Speaker 5: Old white, you know what I'm saying? But I still
- 41:41Speaker 5: like him as a director, though.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Gran Torino.
- 41:43Speaker 1: Gran Torino, Mystic River.
- 41:45Speaker 2: Mystic River.
- 41:47Speaker 3: It goes way back.
- 41:48Speaker 2: All right, how many more you got, Melissa, for us?
- 41:50Speaker 3: Okay, so next one. This is a pretty, you know,
- 41:56Speaker 3: typical Catch-22. Well, not typical in the story, but as
- 42:00Speaker 3: it's defined. Requiem for a Dream.
- 42:02Speaker 1: I haven't seen it.
- 42:04Speaker 3: Holy shit!
- 42:06Speaker 2: I don't like the word Requiem.
- 42:07Speaker 1: I don't like drugs. When I saw Requiem, I was like, nah, yo.
- 42:11Speaker 1: I don't like drug movies.
- 42:12Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, I.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Can understand that. I understand that. I'm not a fan either.
- 42:18Speaker 3: It's an overdose, right? So it's four different characters whose
- 42:22Speaker 3: storylines overlap with each other.
- 42:24Speaker 2: So crash for drugs.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Yeah, and they all have a different form of addiction.
- 42:30Speaker 3: And so basically, the cast 22. Yeah, Marlon Wayans was
- 42:33Speaker 3: in it.
- 42:33Speaker 1: Isn't Jake Gyllenhaal?
- 42:35Speaker 2: Jared Leto.
- 42:36Speaker 1: Jared Leto.
- 42:37Speaker 3: There we go.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Okay.
- 42:38Speaker 1: What's her name? Jennifer Connelly. Jennifer Connelly.
- 42:40Speaker 3: What's her older actress?
- 42:41Speaker 2: Ellen Burstyn.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Ellen Burstyn.
- 42:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:43Speaker 1: She got nominated for that.
- 42:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:46Speaker 3: And so basically the Catch-22 is like, addiction is a
- 42:49Speaker 3: Catch-22 in itself.
- 42:51Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 42:52Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 42:52Speaker 3: So, okay.
- 42:53Speaker 1: All right.
- 42:53Speaker 3: You guys have not seen that one before.
- 42:54Speaker 4: No, no.
- 42:54Speaker 5: I'm sorry.
- 42:54Speaker 1: I'm looking for it.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Okay.
- 42:58Speaker 3: No Country for Old Men.
- 43:00Speaker 1: Yes. Now we talking about a movie. Now we back
- 43:03Speaker 1: in your pocket.
- 43:03Speaker 2: Now you talking about a.
- 43:05Speaker 4: Movie, man.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:06Speaker 3: No Country for Old Men. I done seen that movie
- 43:09Speaker 3: several times. Yeah, is an amazing movie. Javier Bardem is headbanging.
- 43:16Speaker 4: That scene in the gas station when he's pissed off
- 43:20Speaker 4: with the point flip.
- 43:21Speaker 1: That poor man, though.
- 43:23Speaker 2: He didn't know why he was in trouble. He was like,
- 43:27Speaker 2: it was my wife's.
- 43:28Speaker 3: I don't know why.
- 43:29Speaker 1: He was just making small talk. His life was on
- 43:32Speaker 1: the line just like that. He was just like, I
- 43:35Speaker 1: don't know what I'm betting for.
- 43:36Speaker 5: He was like, what business is this of yours? You
- 43:40Speaker 5: live out back and that's their house out back?
- 43:43Speaker 3: Let me get my fucking coin out the way.
- 43:44Speaker 1: He's like, what time do you close? I'm like, what's happening?
- 43:50Speaker 2: What did I do?
- 43:51Speaker 5: I would hate to run across him because I would
- 43:55Speaker 5: get killed.
- 43:56Speaker 2: For sure.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Because I'd be like, who the fuck do you think
- 43:58Speaker 1: you're talking to, bro? I'm mouthing off.
- 44:01Speaker 2: He's doing the kind of thing on you easy.
- 44:04Speaker 1: I'm like the lady that worked at the hotel.
- 44:06Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:09Speaker 5: Well, he went in there and tried to get the
- 44:10Speaker 5: number for me. She's like, no, did you not hear me?
- 44:13Speaker 1: I said I got no information. And they had that
- 44:17Speaker 1: look off like, bitch. And she was like, nigga. She
- 44:23Speaker 1: had no clue who he was, but you know what?
- 44:25Speaker 2: She wasn't going for it. No.
- 44:27Speaker 4: That movie is so freaking good. He's good in Cape Fear.
- 44:32Speaker 1: I got to watch that.
- 44:33Speaker 4: He's basically like that character with much more charisma.
- 44:37Speaker 2: Because he was like sociopath level.
- 44:40Speaker 4: I actually watched a YouTube video where a psychologist was like,
- 44:44Speaker 4: this is what a sociopath looks like.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Yeah, I saw that.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Cold calculated, that's a good depiction.
- 44:49Speaker 1: You know what's funny about him in that role? He
- 44:52Speaker 1: still has some... He had a little bit of personality
- 44:55Speaker 1: that I found in there.
- 44:56Speaker 3: I mean, you have to have personality to choose that
- 44:58Speaker 3: fucking haircut.
- 44:59Speaker 1: Well, not only that. The haircut was crazy. But it
- 45:03Speaker 1: was the 70s. El Paso, by the way. El Paso.
- 45:07Speaker 2: El Paso.
- 45:08Speaker 3: Nobody else had a fucking bowl cut.
- 45:10Speaker 1: No, the Beatles. The Beatles made that popular.
- 45:13Speaker 3: This didn't take place in the 70s.
- 45:15Speaker 2: You know you don't know no years and no ages now.
- 45:17Speaker 2: You're right. I'm going to shut the fuck up on
- 45:18Speaker 2: that one. When was the Beatles popular?
- 45:20Speaker 1: 50s or 60s? 60s and 70s.
- 45:21Speaker 2: Oh, it was 70s too?
- 45:22Speaker 1: They was reigning supreme.
- 45:23Speaker 4: The Beatle, the mania was 60s though, right? When they
- 45:26Speaker 4: first came to America? That's when they first came out.
- 45:28Speaker 3: That was the mania.
- 45:28Speaker 2: That was the peak?
- 45:29Speaker 3: That was the mania.
- 45:29Speaker 5: That was the peak of Beatle mania, but not the
- 45:32Speaker 5: peak of their popularity.
- 45:33Speaker 2: Okay, gotcha.
- 45:36Speaker 1: They did a lot in the short span.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Yeah, they did.
- 45:39Speaker 1: But when he, when the dude, they flipped the coin.
- 45:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 45:42Speaker 1: And he was like, no, put that in your pocket.
- 45:44Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 45:45Speaker 5: You don't know how, the way he looked at that
- 45:47Speaker 5: man like that. I was just like, yo, he got personality.
- 45:52Speaker 5: That's crazy.
- 45:53Speaker 4: And when he was killing them people, man, he did
- 45:55Speaker 4: not care. It was like smacking a fly. And it
- 46:00Speaker 4: also was a very violent but efficient way to kill people.
- 46:03Speaker 2: Yes, for sure.
- 46:04Speaker 4: So you're just like, that's even worse than a gun somehow.
- 46:06Speaker 3: To this day, I still don't know what the hell
- 46:08Speaker 3: that is.
- 46:08Speaker 2: It's a cattle. It's how you kill cows. So they
- 46:11Speaker 2: don't know it's coming.
- 46:12Speaker 3: And now I'm a vegan.
- 46:15Speaker 2: So if they get scared, it ruins their meat. So
- 46:18Speaker 2: you kill them and they just don't know. Yeah. Oh, God.
- 46:21Speaker 1: Let me tell you what.
- 46:23Speaker 3: I did not know that.
- 46:24Speaker 2: America. Things shouldn't be as efficient as we make them.
- 46:30Speaker 4: It is inhumane. I just, when I want to eat meat,
- 46:34Speaker 4: I just try not to think about it. Because when
- 46:36Speaker 4: you think about it, you be like, all right, y'all,
- 46:38Speaker 4: come on, man. There's got to be a better way.
- 46:41Speaker 1: It got to a point where I couldn't stop thinking
- 46:43Speaker 1: no more.
- 46:43Speaker 2: You see, man, I... Here I am. I'm going to
- 46:46Speaker 2: Chick-fil-A right after this, so, man, what's the next movie?
- 46:48Speaker 3: I feel like there's plasticine in the chicken.
- 46:50Speaker 2: No, no, I don't know what plasticine is.
- 46:53Speaker 4: I know what Honey Barbecue is, though. That's what I know,
- 46:56Speaker 4: Chick-fil-A sauce.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Polynesian.
- 46:58Speaker 3: Okay, the next one is The Dark Knight.
- 47:01Speaker 1: Yes. Now you're cooking with grace.
- 47:02Speaker 5: You're cooking now, man. Melissa Ford, ladies and gentlemen. We
- 47:06Speaker 5: never doubted.
- 47:07Speaker 3: You, man.
- 47:07Speaker 1: Requiem for a dream.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Get out of here.
- 47:09Speaker 1: Dark Knight, you're right back here. Every time I thought
- 47:12Speaker 1: you were out, you pulled me right back here. You
- 47:13Speaker 1: be making the best picks every time.
- 47:17Speaker 3: Okay, so there's a couple in here, obviously. There's the
- 47:20Speaker 3: fairy sequins. Which was just brilliant.
- 47:23Speaker 1: Oh, fairy, fairy, fairy.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Yeah, the fairies. Oh, yeah. With the civilians and the prisoners.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Somehow I thought the F-A-R-R way.
- 47:30Speaker 1: I was like, what? Wings.
- 47:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I was like.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Julia Robertson.
- 47:34Speaker 3: Harry's coin is also like a proverbial kind of Catch-22
- 47:39Speaker 3: kind of thing. I mean, I feel like the movie
- 47:41Speaker 3: is just like. And just what Batman chooses to do.
- 47:45Speaker 3: He takes the fall for everything for the obvious reasons.
- 47:51Speaker 3: It's a really good catch-22 film.
- 47:54Speaker 2: And the thing is, the Joker should have been right. Yeah,
- 47:57Speaker 2: he should have been.
- 47:57Speaker 4: Based on knowledge, the prisoners tossing the bomb thing out
- 48:01Speaker 4: the window, if I were the Joker, I'd be like, wow,
- 48:04Speaker 4: that actually really is surprising. I would think they would
- 48:08Speaker 4: have been like, nah, we killing them. But Deebo was like, nah.
- 48:12Speaker 1: Nah.
- 48:12Speaker 2: I'm good finally in a movie. And it was great
- 48:16Speaker 2: because the one thing, I love this movie.
- 48:19Speaker 4: This is top five for me. I love it because
- 48:22Speaker 4: Batman's strength. don't work on the Joker. He don't even
- 48:27Speaker 4: fight back. So he was like, you have nothing to
- 48:30Speaker 4: scare me with. Can you imagine beating somebody up and
- 48:32Speaker 4: they laughing like, yes, this is going to kill you.
- 48:35Speaker 1: This is my whole shtick. I'll scare the shit out
- 48:38Speaker 1: of you.
- 48:38Speaker 3: I don't want to kill you.
- 48:40Speaker 1: I need you. I need you, man.
- 48:42Speaker 3: So in that way, I feel like it made his
- 48:46Speaker 3: decision towards the end of the movie just completely inevitable.
- 48:50Speaker 2: For sure.
- 48:50Speaker 3: Because his sense of identity was rocked to its core
- 48:55Speaker 3: because he came upon an enemy that he just couldn't
- 48:59Speaker 3: fight in his conventional ways.
- 49:00Speaker 4: And Alfred was trying to tell him early. He just
- 49:04Speaker 4: wasn't trying. And also, I love Morgan Freeman. He puts
- 49:08Speaker 4: him in that position. Because Morgan Freeman, he's like, I'm not,
- 49:12Speaker 4: if you doing this, if this is what it takes,
- 49:14Speaker 4: I'm not.
- 49:14Speaker 2: Working with you. This is my last thing.
- 49:16Speaker 4: Yeah so I love that because Morgan Freeman if he
- 49:18Speaker 4: didn't destroy the computers he was like um we're done
- 49:22Speaker 4: yeah because what you was doing which is what the
- 49:24Speaker 4: flock cameras do in America right now what you're doing
- 49:27Speaker 4: is not right yeah even if the end goal is
- 49:29Speaker 4: right like how you're going about this is wrong and
- 49:31Speaker 4: I can't stand by it so it's just like a
- 49:34Speaker 4: series of That whole movie's a series of impossible choices.
- 49:37Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:38Speaker 4: Now, the one thing that Joker did that was unfair
- 49:41Speaker 4: is when he tricked him with Rachel. Because he gave
- 49:44Speaker 4: him the impossible choice, but then when he went to
- 49:46Speaker 4: save Rachel, or.
- 49:48Speaker 2: He thought he was saving Rachel.
- 49:50Speaker 3: He was saving Harvey.
- 49:50Speaker 2: He was saving Harvey.
- 49:51Speaker 3: But did he really save Harvey?
- 49:53Speaker 2: He didn't.
- 49:55Speaker 3: He saved Harvey's body. He didn't save his soul.
- 49:57Speaker 1: He tried to, though. That's a good point.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:59Speaker 1: That's a great point.
- 50:00Speaker 3: And that's another thing that led him to make the
- 50:02Speaker 3: decision that he finally makes at the end.
- 50:04Speaker 1: Yes.
- 50:06Speaker 3: Very, very layered. Very, very layered.
- 50:08Speaker 1: Big layers. Yes.
- 50:09Speaker 3: But I did send you something in the group chat
- 50:12Speaker 3: where Christopher Nolan may have been poaching.
- 50:18Speaker 1: He did. A lot of directors do that, though. Quentin
- 50:20Speaker 1: Tarantino was the worst.
- 50:20Speaker 4: Quentin Tarantino will steal a Steve McQueen movie shot for shot.
- 50:24Speaker 1: That's all he does.
- 50:25Speaker 4: Boy, Steve McQueen, boy, the director that you are, I'm
- 50:28Speaker 4: going to steal this.
- 50:30Speaker 2: I mean, the composition is the same.
- 50:32Speaker 5: Quentin Tarantino is Big Steel Homage McGee.
- 50:35Speaker 1: Homage, stealing, what's the difference? Reservoir Dogs on up.
- 50:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:40Speaker 1: He theft Johnson.
- 50:42Speaker 3: Okay, fine.
- 50:43Speaker 2: No, it's fine.
- 50:44Speaker 1: Okay, all right.
- 50:46Speaker 3: Is it inspiration or is it poaching? And what we're
- 50:48Speaker 3: talking about is the Dark Knight is basically, people say
- 50:53Speaker 3: it's basically heat. Frame by frame they showed so many
- 50:57Speaker 3: the consistencies.
- 50:58Speaker 1: Especially in the beginning.
- 50:59Speaker 3: Yeah, wild consistencies.
- 51:00Speaker 4: One thing that's missing is that Dennis Haysburg getting fired
- 51:03Speaker 4: and then dying in three seconds. Me and Tony talk
- 51:06Speaker 4: about that any time we get a chance. Take your
- 51:09Speaker 4: butt to work and stay there, criminal.
- 51:11Speaker 1: Stay there and wash the dishes with that shitty-ass boss
- 51:14Speaker 1: and go home to your lady. You're not going to
- 51:15Speaker 1: be shot on the grill.
- 51:17Speaker 4: Pick up.
- 51:18Speaker 2: Man, he quit that job and was dead.
- 51:20Speaker 1: He was like, fuck it, man. He didn't even get
- 51:26Speaker 1: a block up.
- 51:29Speaker 2: Every time.
- 51:29Speaker 1: He died immediately. Let's get the hell out of here.
- 51:36Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 51:37Speaker 1: I mean.
- 51:38Speaker 2: It was so quiet.
- 51:38Speaker 3: But it was a powerful performance.
- 51:40Speaker 2: He killed it.
- 51:41Speaker 3: Those eight minutes.
- 51:41Speaker 4: That's why he took that. After that, he took that
- 51:43Speaker 4: job selling insurance. He went to Allstate.
- 51:46Speaker 1: He went to Allstate. Are you in good hands? Because
- 51:49Speaker 1: I wasn't. I wasn't a good hand.
- 51:51Speaker 2: The next 25 years.
- 51:53Speaker 3: That was a powerful performance.
- 51:54Speaker 1: Dennis Haysburg.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Dennis Haysburg.
- 51:56Speaker 1: That's Usher's dad to me.
- 51:58Speaker 3: That was a powerful performance.
- 52:00Speaker 2: Okay.
- 52:00Speaker 3: All right. We did that. Well, Dark Knight, anything more
- 52:02Speaker 3: you want to say?
- 52:03Speaker 4: No, no.
- 52:03Speaker 2: No, no, no.
- 52:04Speaker 3: Okay. Nightcrawler.
- 52:07Speaker 4: Ooh.
- 52:08Speaker 2: This is Jake Gyllenhaal.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Jake Gyllenhaal.
- 52:10Speaker 2: You see it?
- 52:11Speaker 3: God damn.
- 52:15Speaker 2: I wasn't into it, y'all. I mean, no. I made
- 52:18Speaker 2: a choice.
- 52:18Speaker 1: I was just like, nah. It's a gross movie. I
- 52:20Speaker 1: saw it in theaters. It's gross as hell.
- 52:22Speaker 3: I saw it in theaters. It's gross. It's icky. It
- 52:25Speaker 3: does not make you feel good. There's nothing redeeming about it.
- 52:27Speaker 2: No, I know.
- 52:28Speaker 3: But sometimes you got to watch shit like that. You
- 52:30Speaker 3: know what I'm saying?
- 52:31Speaker 1: I think you like shit like that.
- 52:33Speaker 3: I do.
- 52:33Speaker 1: That's what you look for.
- 52:34Speaker 3: Listen, I'm a Scorpio, okay? I'm a stellium Scorpio with that.
- 52:37Speaker 2: What's stellium?
- 52:38Speaker 3: Stellium basically means that you have three or more of
- 52:42Speaker 3: your sun sign in houses.
- 52:44Speaker 2: Oh, so you like super, super, super Scorpio. Big Scorpio.
- 52:46Speaker 3: Yeah, so I got Scorpio in four houses.
- 52:47Speaker 2: Wait, how many houses are there?
- 52:49Speaker 1: Twelve, right?
- 52:51Speaker 2: Twelve?
- 52:51Speaker 3: Ten.
- 52:52Speaker 2: Somebody help us.
- 52:54Speaker 3: No, there's your moon, and then there's your rising sign.
- 52:57Speaker 1: And then your sun sign.
- 52:59Speaker 3: And then there's the houses.
- 53:01Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay, I don't know about that.
- 53:02Speaker 3: And the planets.
- 53:03Speaker 1: I'm big Taurus.
- 53:04Speaker 2: I don't know about houses.
- 53:05Speaker 5: Whatever.
- 53:05Speaker 1: And I present as a Cancer.
- 53:07Speaker 2: You present as a Cancer?
- 53:08Speaker 5: Yeah, but I'm big Taurus in the joint.
- 53:11Speaker 1: But I'm a Taurus.
- 53:12Speaker 2: What do you mean? Is it by choice you present as?
- 53:14Speaker 1: No, it's just what the chart says.
- 53:15Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 53:16Speaker 5: I'm big Taurus because I got two Tauruses up in
- 53:19Speaker 5: the mix on the majors and then I present as Cancer.
- 53:23Speaker 3: How did we get here? Was this the last movie
- 53:24Speaker 3: about that?
- 53:25Speaker 1: We were talking about Nightcrawler.
- 53:26Speaker 5: Oh, Nightcrawler.
- 53:27Speaker 1: Because you said you was Scorpio. Here we go.
- 53:29Speaker 3: Yeah, fuck. Forget me. Okay, so Nightcrawler. Okay, so in
- 53:34Speaker 3: order to become successful as a, you know, he's basically
- 53:38Speaker 3: kind of like a TMZ camera guy, you know? In
- 53:41Speaker 3: order to become successful, he has to become the very
- 53:44Speaker 3: thing that he finds, you know, revolting. The very thing
- 53:47Speaker 3: that he knows is clickbaity because it is revolting. It
- 53:51Speaker 3: is repugnant. He knows all of this. But in order
- 53:54Speaker 3: to become uber successful, he actually needs to become the
- 53:57Speaker 3: thing that he is.
- 53:59Speaker 1: He did that.
- 54:00Speaker 3: And he sure did that. He was disgusting. Jake Gyllenhaal.
- 54:03Speaker 1: He delivered in that time.
- 54:04Speaker 3: Yeah, he really did. He was a slime bucket.
- 54:07Speaker 1: He was sleazy, man.
- 54:10Speaker 3: He got really thin for the role, too.
- 54:12Speaker 1: He looked gone. He looked crazy. His eyes were just like.
- 54:15Speaker 4: I did not want no part of that. Y'all are
- 54:18Speaker 4: doing nothing but making me feel right in my choice.
- 54:20Speaker 4: I don't want nothing to do with it. Nah, I
- 54:22Speaker 4: ain't going to.
- 54:22Speaker 3: It's not a feel-good movie.
- 54:24Speaker 4: I was like, y'all were not like, oh, yeah, Kevin,
- 54:26Speaker 4: this happened. You're like, no, it's as bad as you think,
- 54:28Speaker 4: and you feel dirty.
- 54:29Speaker 2: You got to take a shower after.
- 54:30Speaker 1: Renee Russo was good in that, too.
- 54:32Speaker 3: Yeah, she was. She was in.
- 54:33Speaker 1: I love her. Lethal Weapon, Thomas Crown Affair.
- 54:36Speaker 2: Thomas Crown.
- 54:37Speaker 1: Yes.
- 54:37Speaker 3: She had her titties out.
- 54:38Speaker 2: I did not remember that from the first time I
- 54:40Speaker 2: saw it.
- 54:40Speaker 1: She was out here.
- 54:41Speaker 2: I didn't remember that at all. When I re-watched that,
- 54:43Speaker 2: I was like, huh.
- 54:45Speaker 1: If Kev was a woman, he would do topless scenes.
- 54:49Speaker 5: What?
- 54:50Speaker 1: You'd be like Halle Berry in Swordfish. Showing up for
- 54:53Speaker 1: no reason, that would be you.
- 54:55Speaker 3: Can I tell you about a regret that I have?
- 54:56Speaker 5: What?
- 54:57Speaker 3: And I don't really have them, but I have one
- 55:00Speaker 3: tiny little regret. However, okay. Many, many moons ago, I
- 55:10Speaker 3: was asked by a very famous Italian director to be
- 55:13Speaker 3: in one of his films. I'm talking about right at
- 55:16Speaker 3: the height of me doing music videos and crossing over
- 55:19Speaker 3: into pages of magazines and.
- 55:20Speaker 1: Covers and stuff like that so my school season yeah.
- 55:23Speaker 3: It wasn't my no an italian well oh yeah no
- 55:26Speaker 3: no in italy.
- 55:27Speaker 1: Like his name is big italy.
- 55:30Speaker 3: Yes exactly okay big italy and when you know i
- 55:34Speaker 3: was like oh shit and then they said well there's
- 55:37Speaker 3: gonna be nudity in it and i was like deal
- 55:39Speaker 3: breaker absolutely not okay yeah i didn't really understand that
- 55:43Speaker 3: first of all, Europeans view nudity completely different and it's
- 55:47Speaker 3: depicted very differently in their movies as well. And he's
- 55:52Speaker 3: not a porn director, people, okay? He's a visual tissue.
- 55:55Speaker 3: But I said no because I just couldn't fathom the
- 55:59Speaker 3: thought of actually being nude and that sort of thing.
- 56:02Speaker 3: I regret that shit.
- 56:03Speaker 2: Really?
- 56:04Speaker 3: I do. Not where it keeps me up at night,
- 56:06Speaker 3: but I'm just like.
- 56:08Speaker 1: Did you see the project that they wanted you to
- 56:10Speaker 1: work on?
- 56:10Speaker 3: No, it was a deal breaker. Nudity, I said, I
- 56:14Speaker 3: don't want to know anything else.
- 56:15Speaker 1: So you never even followed up on the project itself?
- 56:17Speaker 3: I did not even follow up because I was just like,
- 56:19Speaker 3: it's nudity. I'm not doing that.
- 56:20Speaker 5: I wonder if they made the project and if it.
- 56:24Speaker 5: if it did anything for those involved.
- 56:26Speaker 3: I don't know. I will never know. I will never know.
- 56:29Speaker 2: I would have been titties out. I just kind of
- 56:32Speaker 2: wish that. You'd have to give me five million. Was
- 56:36Speaker 2: it Swordfish?
- 56:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 56:37Speaker 2: It was such a big deal.
- 56:38Speaker 1: It was so gratuitous, though. It was pointless. When I
- 56:41Speaker 1: saw it, I was like, well, this is just weird.
- 56:42Speaker 1: It was so pointless.
- 56:43Speaker 2: It was like, we just want to see if we
- 56:46Speaker 2: can do this. Yeah. It didn't make any sense in
- 56:48Speaker 2: the movie.
- 56:49Speaker 1: It felt like, here, guys. That's what it felt like.
- 56:52Speaker 1: And I was just like, This feels like you just
- 56:54Speaker 1: showing me your titties.
- 56:55Speaker 2: And I don't mind.
- 56:56Speaker 1: I mean, I wasn't tripping, but it was just, it.
- 57:00Speaker 2: Was just like. That's where you draw the line.
- 57:02Speaker 1: Well, no, not that. It just felt like, here, y'all, look. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 57:07Speaker 5: Damn. And I was just like, you know what I'm saying? Because, like,
- 57:10Speaker 5: in Monsters Ball, you see them in there, but it
- 57:12Speaker 5: was like.
- 57:12Speaker 1: It was a sex scene. Yeah. So if it's just like, titties, y'all.
- 57:17Speaker 3: Beautiful titties.
- 57:18Speaker 2: Make me feel good.
- 57:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:20Speaker 3: Beautiful titties.
- 57:20Speaker 1: But I know Kev will be out here, titties, y'all.
- 57:22Speaker 2: Titties. Yeah. It's the meat that I'd have a problem with.
- 57:26Speaker 1: Oh, now you draw the line at the bottoms up.
- 57:30Speaker 4: Titties I could do. But I don't think women, they
- 57:32Speaker 4: don't show coochies that much. You see probably women's titties more.
- 57:37Speaker 4: Then you probably see peen before you see.
- 57:40Speaker 3: Abso-fucking-lutely not.
- 57:41Speaker 1: You see more peen than coochies. Where? In movies.
- 57:45Speaker 3: I'm not watching the right fucking movies. No, I'm sorry.
- 57:49Speaker 1: Like an actual coochie itself?
- 57:51Speaker 4: Actual coochie?
- 57:53Speaker 3: You mean spread eagle coochie?
- 57:55Speaker 5: I've seen mad dilks in regular programming.
- 57:59Speaker 1: What?
- 58:00Speaker 2: Huh?
- 58:00Speaker 1: I was.
- 58:04Speaker 5: Just watching something recently. It was like eight dicks in
- 58:08Speaker 5: my face.
- 58:09Speaker 3: Wait, was it Beauty in Black? No, they had the.
- 58:13Speaker 1: Dudes lined up.
- 58:14Speaker 5: It was some kind of hazing situation. They had masks on,
- 58:17Speaker 5: and they dicks was out.
- 58:19Speaker 1: It was Atlanta.
- 58:20Speaker 2: Atlanta?
- 58:21Speaker 1: It was an episode of Atlanta.
- 58:23Speaker 2: Oh, I never see that episode. Yeah, yeah. Was it
- 58:25Speaker 2: the final season?
- 58:26Speaker 1: It was like some frat boy hazing situation. And they
- 58:29Speaker 1: dicks was out. Eight of them.
- 58:30Speaker 2: Huge peen in.
- 58:32Speaker 1: Any Given Sunday. The Watchmen.
- 58:34Speaker 2: No.
- 58:36Speaker 1: The Watchmen, man. He was walking around blue.
- 58:38Speaker 2: With his dick out. Game of Thrones. Oh, yeah. No,
- 58:41Speaker 2: not House of Dragons.
- 58:41Speaker 3: No, Game of Thrones.
- 58:43Speaker 2: Game of Thrones, for sure.
- 58:44Speaker 3: No, it was equal parts dick and pussy.
- 58:47Speaker 2: Equal parts.
- 58:47Speaker 1: Boogie Nights dick.
- 58:51Speaker 3: I mean, the whole movie was based around this thing.
- 58:53Speaker 2: Don't get egged.
- 58:54Speaker 1: Who?
- 58:55Speaker 2: Nine to Seven Kingdoms had a humongous white peen.
- 58:58Speaker 1: The movie Sideways with Paul Giamatti. This dude comes running up.
- 59:03Speaker 3: How many people are saying pause in here? How many people.
- 59:06Speaker 2: Are saying pause?
- 59:06Speaker 1: Ain't no pause, man. Oh, my God. The boys. The boys.
- 59:10Speaker 1: They're going to show you some dicks. This is just huge.
- 59:12Speaker 1: There's a guy inside of a penis. Penises are coming
- 59:15Speaker 1: out more and more now.
- 59:16Speaker 2: Penises are out there.
- 59:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 59:18Speaker 2: Shaft central.
- 59:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 59:20Speaker 3: Well, you know.
- 59:21Speaker 2: But yeah, titties I could do.
- 59:22Speaker 1: I can't even remember the last coochie I saw. In
- 59:26Speaker 1: a movie? And you damn sure ain't seeing the koochie
- 59:29Speaker 1: roast beef.
- 59:31Speaker 5: You might see the bush, but you're not going to
- 59:33Speaker 5: see the roast beef sandwich. Do you want to, though? No,
- 59:37Speaker 5: but I'm just saying.
- 59:39Speaker 1: They're not going to show you.
- 59:41Speaker 3: Even like an R-rated movie.
- 59:42Speaker 2: They're not going to show you the roast beef sandwich.
- 59:44Speaker 1: No, no. They gonna show you that soft penis.
- 59:46Speaker 2: Yeah. They just show titties so much more.
- 59:49Speaker 1: Oh, for sure.
- 59:50Speaker 2: The ratio is crazy.
- 59:51Speaker 1: And male butt cheeks a second.
- 59:53Speaker 2: Male butt cheeks you will see.
- 59:55Speaker 1: In Primal Fear, male butt cheeks.
- 59:56Speaker 2: Butt cheeks.
- 59:57Speaker 1: Also with the titties.
- 59:59Speaker 3: Gone Girl. Gone Girl.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Primal Fear.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: Gone Girl.
- 1:00:02Speaker 3: Gone Girl, there was butt cheeks and a little bit
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: of peen.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, the peen was in there.
- 1:00:06Speaker 3: It was just the tip.
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: Neil Patrick Harris, we saw his peen.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: No, Ben Affleck.
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: Oh.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Well, Neil, too. His ass. Didn't she kill him when
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: he was naked?
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: Yes, his ass.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Didn't he roll over and then deal?
- 1:00:16Speaker 3: Nope, didn't see his deal.
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: Wait, what are we talking about? What movie?
- 1:00:19Speaker 3: Why are we talking about? Okay, all right, where are we?
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: Hold on.
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: Last one, but there's a four. We're going to have
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: to have you back. We got to do a photo shoot.
- 1:00:25Speaker 3: Okay, last one. All right, okay, okay, okay. I have
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: three right now. So choose from the three.
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: You can write them off quickly if you want to.
- 1:00:31Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: When you're finished.
- 1:00:32Speaker 3: A simple plan.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Yes. Bill Paxton, Billy Bob Thornton. It's a good movie, Kev.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: And it's not Nightcrawler's Dark. It's a sick shit.
- 1:00:40Speaker 2: I'll watch it.
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: It's amazing, though.
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: Seven, of course. And we all know the reasons why.
- 1:00:44Speaker 2: That's a great one.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: It is a great one.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: For sure.
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: That one, Brad Pitt wrote in his contract, you cannot
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: change the ending. Yeah. That's how much he liked it.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: And they wanted to. They tried.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: Of course they did.
- 1:00:56Speaker 5: Hollywood would be fucking cheered up.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: The movie ain't even the movie if it doesn't have the...
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: That's the reason we remember that movie.
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: They would have lost $ 40 million at the box office
- 1:01:06Speaker 5: if they changed it to the Hollywood ending.
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: Yeah. It's horrible. That is the purest form of a
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: catch-22 because either way, honestly, Doe wins. For sure.
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: He's murdered by him.
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: And he completes the whole Seven Sins murder plot, whatever.
- 1:01:22Speaker 3: Or he doesn't kill him, and he follows, you know,
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: goes to jail and whatnot, and Mills is destroyed for
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: the rest.
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: Of his life.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: Either way. Knowing that he did not.
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: Put a bullet in the head of the man.
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: Who decapitated his wife. He got you. I'm so sorry.
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: He got you not killed.
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: I would like to believe that I would have not
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: killed him.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: Oh, man.
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: Because once I.
- 1:01:41Speaker 5: Know it's what you want, my petty is going to
- 1:01:45Speaker 5: kick in past the grief.
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: I'm going, oh, you want this? Fuck you, bro.
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: Nah.
- 1:01:51Speaker 5: And then I'm going to just shatter. Because I'm going
- 1:01:55Speaker 5: to still be shattered nonetheless. Knowing that you wanted me
- 1:01:59Speaker 5: to kill you, that was part of your plan. Let
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: me fuck up your plan. Because that's going to fuck
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: with him more. If I kill him, he's done.
- 1:02:07Speaker 3: Maybe.
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: I wanted you to kill me.
- 1:02:09Speaker 5: But now he resisted. Now he's going to be in
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: this jail cell. Fuck, he resisted. He's going to be
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: thinking about that. Because he's going to give a fuck
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: about killing my wife.
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: I would have fell for it.
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: Your wife's head is in the box. Yeah.
- 1:02:21Speaker 4: I feel like before I could process that.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: Process and come to out of sheer rage.
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: Morgan Freeman told you. This is what he wants you
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: to do.
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: He didn't do a whole lot of listening to Morgan
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: Freeman the.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: Whole fucking movie. He did not.
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: So he was damn sure not going to do that
- 1:02:38Speaker 3: this time.
- 1:02:39Speaker 2: He for sure can't be like, the one time I
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: listen is now. Yeah. When it's the hardest to listen.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: That's the only way you could get him back.
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: But then John Doe's character was so wily, that mofo
- 1:02:52Speaker 3: probably would have found a way around the whole situation.
- 1:02:56Speaker 5: We'll figure that out later. So if he does figure
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: his way out around the situation, I'll get you later.
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: I'll get you on the back end.
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: Well, the last one was Manchester by the Sea.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: Oh, God. Kim hates this movie.
- 1:03:09Speaker 2: Melissa Ford, you were doing so good. I mean. I
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: hate that movie. I hate Casey Affleck. I hate the
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: color grade. Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate. I don't know
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: if I can have you back now. I have my
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: own Sophie's Choice.
- 1:03:23Speaker 4: Why?
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: I hate that movie. It's so freaking boring and bland.
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: That's all it is.
- 1:03:27Speaker 4: And boring, and it's who cares, and he gives you nothing,
- 1:03:31Speaker 4: and it's big, boring, and it's such Oscar. Like, when
- 1:03:35Speaker 4: was there going to be an Oscar? And it's freaking blue,
- 1:03:38Speaker 4: and Casey Affleck is just moping around.
- 1:03:40Speaker 2: The fire. Man, by the time it happened, I was like, man,
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: I don't care. I'm glad that you didn't.
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: Kev hates this movie. Kev hates this movie.
- 1:03:48Speaker 2: I hate Manchester by the sea.
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: I'm kind of rendered speechless a little bit.
- 1:03:53Speaker 2: I hate Manchester by the sea.
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: Well, shit, I should have just chose Michael Clayton or
- 1:03:58Speaker 3: The Insider or something.
- 1:03:59Speaker 5: Oh, the Michael Clayton was pretty good.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: I like Michael Clayton. I like Michael Clayton.
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: I hate Manchester by the sea, man.
- 1:04:08Speaker 3: Okay, I forget I said that.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: No, you keep it.
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: You keep it.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: Stand in, Melissa Ford.
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: I just do not like that movie.
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: It was gut-wrenching and heartbreaking.
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: Was it?
- 1:04:20Speaker 3: Yes.
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: Was your heart broke?
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: I wasn't really heartbroken.
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: I was irritated more than anything.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: And I'm a soft guy when I be watching movies.
- 1:04:26Speaker 3: I think that the whole premise of it was just
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: so tragic. Like, it was just so tragic. And he
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: just turned into... a tragedy because of it. You know,
- 1:04:38Speaker 3: he was never going to be able to be fixed
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: to a certain extent. So he just ends up becoming
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: the one thing that, well, that's a catch 22, becoming
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: the one thing that you adore or that you never
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: thought that you would ever become. And, you know, I mean,
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: I really like Michelle Williams.
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: She's great. Michelle Williams is good.
- 1:04:57Speaker 2: Michelle Williams is great.
- 1:04:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:59Speaker 4: She has a great picker for roles. She has a
- 1:05:01Speaker 4: picker for a lot of movies. They count. They all count.
