- 0:00Robson off the right hash shotgun Cam Edwards next to him, drops two steps,
- 0:04fires in the corner and caught touchdown. Great throw. Kylie's Hicks made
- 0:11a great catch and the Huskies get the touchdown with seventeen seconds left here in
- 0:18the second quarter. That was a good throw and an even better catch by
- 0:22Kyla's Hicks. Welcome back to the Yukon football coaches. Showing with that,
- 0:26Kylie's Hicks put himself in the books with his first touchdown catch as a Yukon
- 0:32Husky. Let's begin right there, number eighteen. How sweet was that to
- 0:37make the play, get in the end zone and put six points on the
- 0:40board. Yeah. Man, it was definitely a memorable moment. You know,
- 0:46I was in the boundary. I kind of had a feeling that the
- 0:48ball was gonna come to me, and you know, I got a release
- 0:51off on the dude and Lucky Taekwon was able to throw a good ball to
- 0:54me back shoulder and I just had to secure it and that's what I did,
- 0:57man, And I ain't never gonna forget that moment. Spurs one.
- 1:00That was not an easy catch, by the way it was. It was
- 1:03from where I broadcast it was cross the field quite a ways away. That
- 1:07was an excellent catch because there was a lot of distracts going on. dB
- 1:11had you covered pretty well. Yeah, yeah, it was. It was
- 1:15a great Like I said, man, it was a great ball back shoulder.
- 1:17It was just a matter of you know, trying to focus focus the
- 1:19ball in and tucket and just make sure it's protected before before I got out.
- 1:23But man, it is. That's definitely. That was definitely a memorable
- 1:26moment for sure. And to get back in the win column. I know
- 1:29you guys were thirsty for a victory, hungry for a victory. You've been
- 1:33so close, you know, week after week. Obviously you had so many
- 1:37chances to get back in that locker room and celebrate something. What was that
- 1:41like? Man? It felt good man, just to you know, leave
- 1:46with a win, you know, knowing that we got what we worked for
- 1:49and we got what we deserved. But you know, we we were definitely
- 1:52looking forward to getting another win next week for sure. You know. Yeah,
- 1:56when you win, you get even hungrier. I'm assuming you want to
- 2:00finish. I know you gotta you gotta rival from New England. Is that
- 2:04the thought process going in? Yeah, definitely, man, it's like a
- 2:07rival game coming up, and you know, we want to finish off the
- 2:09season, right, do you know the right way? You definitely trying to
- 2:13finish off the season with a win. So yeah, you know, we
- 2:15just we just were just gonna strive to get this win. Man. That's
- 2:17all we think about is the next day and the next game and the next
- 2:21win. Pretty much a couple of years ago, you weren't here yet yu
- 2:24Khon went up there. You mass had this long losing streak and they snapped
- 2:29it by beating Yukon. They stormed the field, they were celebrating all over
- 2:34the place. I'll tell you what that that turned my stomach. I was
- 2:38not happy that day, and I don't know the team was not happy.
- 2:40So to prevent that happening, Well, what are you guys going to do
- 2:44here on Saturday? Dang? Well you said that was on our way here.
- 2:49Yeah, I don't think you were there that. It was a couple
- 2:50of years ago, wasn't he You want you want to answer the question,
- 2:57because I was. I wasn't here to really you know, like, uh
- 3:01experienced that. But you know, we just we just plan on, you
- 3:06know, planing planout game and you know, be a physical and winning man.
- 3:08That's that's that's pretty much. That's pretty much it. Kylie Shicks is
- 3:12with us, the wide receiver out of Pikesville, Maryland. He's a Baltimore
- 3:15guy. Went to uh Morgenthaler Tech in Baltimore. You want to State championship
- 3:21there as a as a defensive back, and I was looking at that championship
- 3:25game. You had four interceptions in that game. Nobody got four interceptions in
- 3:30any game. That must have been one heck of experience. Yeah, yeah,
- 3:34it definitely was. That was another another memorable moment. And going out
- 3:38of High Spital that way was was definitely good and exciting. Yeah, you
- 3:44being from Baltimore, We're gonna talk a little NFL here for a second.
- 3:47A lot of Giants fans softering up here in Connecticut. You have the Ravens
- 3:53down there. Are you as diehard a raven fan as as those guys?
- 3:58Tell me? Yes, yes, been. I've been a Ravens fan since
- 4:00I was little man? Uh Man. Ray lewis a you know right now,
- 4:04right now we're working with LJ. I definitely think that we're going on
- 4:08to see what bo Marble words. So hopefully hopefully we hopefully we can.
- 4:13And yeah, but yeah, I've been a Ravens fan all my life,
- 4:15all my life, man, So yeah, you gotta. If you come
- 4:17from Baltimore, you make that switch defense when you came to college. How
- 4:24did that happen? When did you decide or did coach Morris say, hey,
- 4:28get over catch some balls. So so when I committed, I was
- 4:31I was recruited by More and he wanted me at receiver first. Uh,
- 4:35he just he pretty much told me like, because if I had told him
- 4:39that I that's what I wanted to play. He originally told me like,
- 4:42man, I'm gonna let you rock out at receiver, you know, but
- 4:44if if things don't go as planned, then you might have to switch the
- 4:46DV. And I came here and I just worked my butt off at receiver,
- 4:49and you know, that's that's where we're at right now. So you
- 4:53know, Yeah, Coach has been talking about you on the on the Coaches
- 4:57Show pretty much every week the last few weeks, wanting to get you more
- 5:00opportunities out there. Do you feel like you're now comfortable as as a wide
- 5:04receiver on the college level now that you've had some chances to be out there.
- 5:10Yeah, Yeah, I'm definitely way more comfortable. With the first couple
- 5:13of games I got thrown in. You know, I was a little nervous,
- 5:15but you know, that's what comes with the game. But I'm definitely
- 5:17more comfortable now, especially coming off that touchdown from last game. But you
- 5:23know, it's just a matter of you know, just staying comfortable and stand
- 5:26in that area so I can play my game. Yeah, having take Von
- 5:29Roberson, you know, with you now over the last several games, there's
- 5:32also a comfort level with quarterbacks and wide receivers. Tell me about that.
- 5:36How do you actually establish that tempo and that timing and that feeling for what
- 5:42your quarterback's trying to do. It's really a lot of a lot of work,
- 5:46you know, during during the offseason, you know, throwing with the
- 5:48receivers and you know, getting footwork in with the cues and just trying to
- 5:53like build that connection between all of us, you know, so you know
- 5:56when anybody time comes on the receiver side, that you know, they'll have
- 6:00an experience with Taekwon or experience or whatever. But we work we work together
- 6:03a lot, like like off the scenes, you know, on the field,
- 6:09So that's how we create that connection kind of. Yeah, there's something
- 6:12about scoring through the air, isn't there. You guys had four touchdown passes
- 6:15last week. I mean that's not only exciting, but that really provides a
- 6:18boost for the for the defense and momentum for the whole team, doesn't it.
- 6:23Yeah? No, for sure. For sure. When you're out there
- 6:28and you're you're getting your chances, running patterns, et cetera, are you
- 6:32thinking where you're making a cut, wearing the balls coming to you, how
- 6:35much of it is a timing thing for you as a wide receiver. It's
- 6:41big and you know, the steps are big, you know, the depth
- 6:45of the route is big. But it's just a matter of you know,
- 6:46just doing your job as fast as possible and just hoping that you know,
- 6:49tekwonk can get the ball there pretty much, you know, and speed?
- 6:54Is that the what's the best element of your game right now? My game?
- 6:58I would say, I would say my ability to you know, go
- 7:00up and attack the ball while it's in the air. You know. I
- 7:03feel like it's a lot of things that I got to work on, but
- 7:05I think like this like the top tier part, you know, just me
- 7:08being able to go up and attack the ball when it's in the air.
- 7:11You know, when I went the ball in the air, I just feel
- 7:13like it's mine, like it ain't nobody else's. I'm going to go get
- 7:15it, you know. Yeah, I got you all right, Kylie Shicks.
- 7:17We appreciate you. Uh, Worthampton, go get another win, that's
- 7:21important. Appreciate it back with more of the Yukon Football Coaches Show on lear Field
