Speaker 3: we close out the show. As we get into the

Speaker 3: final hours, final days of the twenty twenty five legislative session,
• 1:46
Speaker 3: things gabble out at midnight on Saturday night slash Sunday morning,

Speaker 3: and we'll talk to Meadows and Wilson about that to

• 1:58
Speaker 3: But I want to welcome to the show now to
• 1:59
Speaker 3: the Air Construction Studios this morning, former Charleson Mayor Danny Jones,
• 2:03
Speaker 3: how are you, my friend?
• 2:04
Speaker 5: I'm fine, thank you, and I want to compliment you
• 2:07
Speaker 5: and the company on these beautiful studios. Most people that
• 2:10
Speaker 5: are listening to us will never see them. But it's
• 2:14
Speaker 5: just it's just really, really first class. I feel like
• 2:17
Speaker 5: I'm sitting in a big city somewhere.
• 2:19
Speaker 3: It is. It's uh. They did well. They did well.
• 2:22
Speaker 3: We did real well, and we are going to start
• 2:24
Speaker 3: to introduce more camera stuff. So I still don't know
• 2:26
Speaker 3: what the status of this show is. Originally they were
• 2:29
Speaker 3: going to put it on camera, then they said they
• 2:30
Speaker 3: weren't going to put it on camera. I do know
• 2:32
Speaker 3: that our show in the afternoon, Metro News, midday, at
• 2:36
Speaker 3: least the last hour will be on camera, Hotline, Morning News,
• 2:40
Speaker 3: It's all gonna be in so people will get to see.
• 2:41
Speaker 5: So some point, if you all have cameras here, that means, uh,
• 2:46
Speaker 5: I might be on TV. Yeah.
• 2:47
Speaker 3: Yeah, because you've never been on TV before. You're kind
• 2:52
Speaker 3: of shy, kind of shadowy. How you doing, man, you're
• 2:54
Speaker 3: looking well? Well, get the beard grown out a little
• 2:57
Speaker 3: bit there this morning.
• 2:58
Speaker 5: Well you gotta remember, now, I had a beard in
• 3:00
Speaker 5: the seventies and eighties. I had one for eight years
• 3:02
Speaker 5: and the only reason I shaved it was to run
• 3:04
Speaker 5: for sheriff. And now beards are really in fashion, which
• 3:10
Speaker 5: it's okay with me.
• 3:11
Speaker 3: There was a time with police officers when they had
• 3:14
Speaker 3: to be completely clean, shaven, no tattoos, no visible tattoos,
• 3:18
Speaker 3: and the magle. I'd say, now, and I'm not for it,
• 3:22
Speaker 3: there against it. I'm just saying it just changed. Now
• 3:25
Speaker 3: there's probably more police officers that have tattoos and beards
• 3:29
  Speaker 3: than don't.
• 3:30
Speaker 5: If I was still there, there wouldn't be visible tattoos.
• 3:32
Speaker 5: No visible tattoos, but beards are okay as long as
• 3:35
Speaker 5: they're fairly close to your face. In seventy seventy one,
• 3:40
Speaker 5: when I was in the Marine Corps, they got a
• 3:43
Speaker 5: new commandant of the Navy. The guy in charge of
• 3:47
Speaker 5: the Navy was a guy named Elmo Zumwalt, and zoom
• 3:51
Speaker 5: Walt was the one that says, these restrictions are pettying
• 3:54
Speaker 5: and he let them start growing beards and doing all
• 3:56
Speaker 5: kinds of stuff and it didn't last long.
• 4:01
Speaker 3: Well, there were some businesses. I know. There was a
• 4:03
  Speaker 3: and I won't mention the name. There's a particular car
• 4:05
Speaker 3: dealership that I used to do when I was in Logan.
• 4:07
Speaker 3: I did a lot of live broadcasts from and they
• 4:10
Speaker 3: had a specific policy, and this was only fifteen twenty
• 4:14
Speaker 3: years ago, that none of their staff could have visible tattoos,
• 4:18
Speaker 3: and that went for the men or the women. And
• 4:20
Speaker 3: so you get these guys and had these sleeve tattoos,
• 4:22
Speaker 3: and some women that had them had to keep them
• 4:24
  Speaker 3: completely covered.
• 4:26
Speaker 5: Yeah, and you know, I don't know if people that
• 4:29
  Speaker 5: I don't have any tattoos, and I don't know if
• 4:32
Speaker 5: people that do that, you know, when they're very young,
• 4:37
Speaker 5: regret regret it later. Yeah, And when I was on Okinawa,
• 4:42
Speaker 5: I almost did it. I was gonna, you know, like
• 4:45
Speaker 5: the Marine Corps bulldog or something, but I didn't, and
• 4:49
Speaker 5: I'm glad it is what stopped you. I sobered up.
• 4:54
Speaker 3: That's a good answer. I have never even considered it
• 4:57
Speaker 3: because I'm not a big fan of needles Danny, and
• 5:00
Speaker 3: I think I'd be the guy that had like the
• 5:02
Speaker 3: beginnings of a tattoo but got up after five minutes
• 5:04
  Speaker 3: and said I'm out. And so that's that's that's what
• 5:07
Speaker 3: I would do. So what keeps you busy these days?
• 5:10
Speaker 3: I mean, you know, you you don't have the restaurant anymore,
• 5:13
Speaker 3: you close. We were telling stories upstairs about the good
• 5:15
Speaker 3: old days of the restaurant.
• 5:16
Speaker 6: But what is it?
• 5:17
Speaker 3: It keeps Danny Jones busy these days.
• 5:19
Speaker 5: I have two sons that kind of keep me melted.
• 5:23
Speaker 5: I mean, I think Jarrett's been accepted and maybe going
• 5:27
Speaker 5: to v m I next year. And Andrew is a junior,
• 5:32
Speaker 5: but he goes to Western State and I don't know why.
• 5:35
Speaker 5: I don't know how that works.
• 5:36
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's that's in common for a couple of years.
• 5:38
Speaker 5: People can just pick him up.
• 5:40
Speaker 3: What's he any idea what he wants to do when
• 5:43
  Speaker 3: he graduates.
• 5:43
Speaker 5: Well, they're both talking about being an engineer, so I don't.
• 5:46
Speaker 5: I don't. Jarrett has been talking about it for a
• 5:51
Speaker 5: long time, and I think the military might be play
• 5:55
Speaker 5: a heavy part in his future.
• 5:57
Speaker 3: And now do you feel about that as a veteran?
• 6:00
Speaker 3: I like, how do you feel about it?
• 6:01
  Speaker 7: Oh?
• 6:01
Speaker 3: I like, because there's two schools of thought on that, Danny.
• 6:03
Speaker 3: There's some of some folks that had served as military
• 6:06
Speaker 3: that said, my son or daughter will never serve there.
• 6:09
Speaker 3: Then there's others that say, absolutely I want them to
• 6:11
  Speaker 3: serve there.
• 6:12
Speaker 5: You know, I remember in nineteen seventy, in the summer
• 6:16
Speaker 5: seventy when I got on the plane up at Canara, airport.
• 6:21
Speaker 5: That's when you could walk out on the tarmac. They'd
• 6:23
Speaker 5: open the fence. Then you'd walk to the plane and
• 6:25
Speaker 5: walk up steps and turn around and wave it everybody.
• 6:29
Speaker 5: And I was going overseas and I was going to
• 6:33
Speaker 5: be gone a year, and I didn't know why there
• 6:37
Speaker 5: was about fifteen people there to see me off, and
• 6:40
Speaker 5: I didn't get what Some of them are upset, and
• 6:43
Speaker 5: I get it now.
• 6:44
  Speaker 3: But.
• 6:46
  Speaker 5: I thought I was invincible, but I didn't know if
• 6:49
Speaker 5: I was going to Vietnam or a Kanawa.
• 6:51
Speaker 3: Don't most people at that age, especially guys, think they're
• 6:54
Speaker 3: invincible at that age.
• 6:55
Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I didn't the first thing I went to.
• 7:00
Speaker 5: So I went to Okinawa for five months. And now
• 7:03
Speaker 5: I went to Vietnam for five months. And I came
• 7:05
Speaker 5: home a little early, a little too early to get
• 7:07
Speaker 5: in early out. So but I liked it overseas. And
• 7:15
Speaker 5: the harder you work, the faster the time goes by.
• 7:19
Speaker 5: And the in Vietnam, that's all you did was work.
• 7:25
Speaker 3: What did you do?
• 7:26
Speaker 5: I drove a truck and I was in station at Danang,
• 7:32
Speaker 5: and Danang was called rocket city, so when the rockets
• 7:35
Speaker 5: were flying, it could get a little weird. But most
• 7:39
Speaker 5: of the time the rockets weren't flying, so it was
• 7:41
Speaker 5: just a regular duty station. And you worked ten to
• 7:44
Speaker 5: twoeur of our shifts, which meant you worked, you went
• 7:48
Speaker 5: to sleep. You worked, you went to sleep, and I
• 7:53
Speaker 5: I really, I really liked it. And I mean because
• 7:56
Speaker 5: it was so casual. By a pack of cigars for
• 7:59
Speaker 5: fifteen I mean, come on now, I mean it was uh.
• 8:04
Speaker 3: It almost sounds like mash in the way that you
• 8:06
Speaker 3: described that was the Korean War, but I mean.
• 8:09
Speaker 5: Very similar, uh, except we had huts that were made
• 8:14
Speaker 5: of wood and screen windows and uh tin roofs, and
• 8:22
Speaker 5: we I remember we had one to three seven people
• 8:25
Speaker 5: living in my hoops. And the petitions were made by
• 8:29
Speaker 5: foot lockers. I mean not foot lockers, but tall lockers.
• 8:33
Speaker 5: Now you make a wall out of those. So that's
• 8:35
Speaker 5: what separated us and and all you know, you just
• 8:39
Speaker 5: worked hard and then you'd you got the pleasure sometimes
• 8:44
Speaker 5: of having duty to uh grab the barrels else under
• 8:50
Speaker 5: the uh where people went to the bathroom and you
• 8:54
Speaker 5: put a lid on them and you take them out
• 8:56
Speaker 5: in the middle of the grass. You know, they're full
• 8:58
Speaker 5: of kerosene and everything else serious and you set them
• 9:01
  Speaker 5: on fire.
• 9:03
Speaker 3: Interesting. Interesting, that probably gave you a good experience for politics.
• 9:09
Speaker 5: Right, that's what you called burn theesers. Okay, that's what
• 9:13
Speaker 5: it's called. Yeah, But Dave Alan showing five any Lie
• 9:16
Speaker 5: Bright to you? Parted by Morgan to Morgan if you're
• 9:18
Speaker 5: injured hired Morgan to Morgan, America's largest injury law firm.
• 9:20
Speaker 3: All right, so I want to ask you, and you
• 9:22
Speaker 3: and I talked a little bit earlier. You said that
• 9:24
Speaker 3: you haven't really been keeping up a lot with the
• 9:25
Speaker 3: legislative session. But you know, there are there are two
• 9:28
Speaker 3: camps here, Danny. There are those who think that this
• 9:31
Speaker 3: session has been absolutely incredible and those who think, and
• 9:35
Speaker 3: surprisingly many of them are Republicans, that this session hasn't
• 9:40
  Speaker 3: accomplished much.
• 9:42
Speaker 5: I don't think they have enough to do up there.
• 9:45
Speaker 5: Explain that they don't have enough to do well, I
• 9:47
Speaker 5: mean the kind of bills that I hear through this
• 9:51
Speaker 5: radio station. Quite frankly, they're all into the social settings
• 9:56
Speaker 5: and stuff. That means you don't have enough to do.
• 9:58
Speaker 5: When I went up there, I don't know for and
• 10:02
Speaker 5: Chris says one thing, the governor says another thing.
• 10:05
Speaker 3: But there's a divide between the Governor. I talked to
• 10:07
Speaker 3: a state senator who shall remain nameless last night. He
• 10:11
Speaker 3: didn't have very very complimentary things to say about governor.
• 10:15
Speaker 3: About Governor Morcy, that just one guy's opinion.
• 10:17
Speaker 5: Or well, from where I'm sitting, he seems like he's
• 10:20
  Speaker 5: doing okay, Well.
• 10:21
  Speaker 3: He's actually there.
• 10:23
Speaker 5: Yeah, And I don't know if he goes down and
• 10:26
Speaker 5: hangs out with him or if he ever goes to
• 10:29
Speaker 5: the well. I mean if I was, if I had
• 10:32
Speaker 5: that job, I'd be down at the well a lot.
• 10:35
  Speaker 5: You know, Joe.
• 10:35
Speaker 3: Didjet and Earlry did it too, and.
• 10:41
Speaker 5: That's what I do. Try to keep contact with him.
• 10:44
Speaker 5: But we don't have a crisis, the governor hold on.
• 10:49
Speaker 3: Some people would push back on that and say that
• 10:51
Speaker 3: we don't have a crisis, especially when it comes to
• 10:53
Speaker 3: the kids in our state with foster care things of
• 10:55
Speaker 3: that nature. I mean, some people would probably push back
• 10:57
  Speaker 3: in that little.
• 10:58
Speaker 5: Sure, Okay, you're right. Is there solution on the table?
• 11:01
  Speaker 3: Uh, there's a lot of talk, but I don't know
• 11:03
Speaker 3: whether there's a lot of solutions, to be honest with you.
• 11:04
Speaker 5: So as a diversionary attactor, some people are going over here, Well,
• 11:09
Speaker 5: let's pick on the gauge or something like that. I mean,
• 11:11
Speaker 5: that's not did I say something wrong? No, no, but
• 11:17
Speaker 5: or let's do something social, let's uh. I've been getting
• 11:20
Speaker 5: these texts from people that, uh, they're trying.
• 11:25
Speaker 8: To get rid of the day after Phil Yeah, because
• 11:30
Speaker 8: there are you know, West Virginia has passed a just
• 11:34
Speaker 8: about it as one of one of the more restrictive
• 11:36
Speaker 8: laws on abortion, and that was passed a couple of
• 11:39
Speaker 8: years ago, and so now.
• 11:42
Speaker 3: There are I don't know that it got a whole
• 11:44
Speaker 3: lot of traction, to be honest with you, but there
• 11:46
Speaker 3: were some things that they were trying to do, I think, uh,
• 11:49
Speaker 3: to to try to keep people from trying to to
• 11:52
Speaker 3: to order to be able to order those But the
• 11:55
Speaker 3: the biggest thing that I think, uh, and I'm gonna
• 11:58
Speaker 3: get into this maybe a little bit later on the
• 11:59
Speaker 3: ship has to do with vaccines, you know, and West
• 12:04
Speaker 3: Virginia has has had one of the better records on
• 12:09
Speaker 3: vaccines and it's one of the few things, in my opinion,
• 12:13
Speaker 3: that West Virginia does. We don't get a lot of
• 12:16
Speaker 3: national press for positive things, okay, but we have We've
• 12:20
Speaker 3: got a pretty darn good record of vaccinating our kids.
• 12:23
Speaker 3: And it's back again. And I've got some notes here
• 12:25
Speaker 3: on Yeah, I mean it's back, it's back again. Let
• 12:29
Speaker 3: me quickly and let me just why you're doing that. Yeah,
• 12:34
Speaker 3: RFK Jr. And people are picking on him, but I
• 12:39
Speaker 3: remember ten years ago and eleven twelve years ago when
• 12:43
Speaker 3: he was on iMOS a lot he was, and he
• 12:46
Speaker 3: was against every vaccine you ever heard of. Yeah, and
• 12:48
Speaker 3: he indeed Rymas were always, oh, it causes autism, you
• 12:53
Speaker 3: should nobody should take any vaccines. And I'm surprised MSNBC
• 12:58
Speaker 3: or somebody didn't look up some of those old shows
• 13:02
Speaker 3: because he's changed a little bit. I mean he even
• 13:04
Speaker 3: talked about because we had this sitution and we got
• 13:06
Speaker 3: a good to break, but we had this situation in
• 13:07
Speaker 3: Texas where there's been a measle outbreak and there's actually
• 13:11
Speaker 3: been I think there's been two children that have died,
• 13:14
Speaker 3: and he's come out and said in that situation that
• 13:19
Speaker 3: they should be vaccinated. But what I think is interesting
• 13:21
Speaker 3: about RFK becoming the darling of the Republican Party. Do
• 13:25
Speaker 3: people forget where he was twenty years ago on coal mining.
• 13:30
Speaker 3: I mean, he was as hard as far left as
• 13:33
Speaker 3: you can get when it came to things like coal mine,
• 13:36
  Speaker 3: his debate with.
• 13:36
Speaker 5: Don up there at the Don blankenships up there, you see, Yeah.
• 13:41
Speaker 3: I remember we're talking to former Charleston Mayor Danny Jones.

• 16:42
Speaker 3: that can be a problem there. I'm going to laugh

Speaker 3: about it, but I mean, no.
• 16:45
Speaker 5: No, no, it was real bad. When we first opened.

• 17:20
Speaker 3: vaccination exemption bill was voted down this past month. It's
• 17:24
Speaker 3: all complicated, and I'm not a molecular biologist, but Brad
• 17:28
Speaker 3: does a good job of trying to go all markets
• 17:30
Speaker 3: wellby uh and explaining it. This morning he did. We
• 17:33
Speaker 3: did' get one of the best quotes of the session,
• 17:35
Speaker 3: that coming from Marion County Democratic Senator Joey Garcia, who said,
• 17:38
Speaker 3: there's a Saint Danny possums run at midnight, and we're
• 17:42
Speaker 3: and we're getting to midnight, the midnight hour, the legislative session. Course,
• 17:47
  Speaker 3: Now the.
• 17:47
Speaker 5: Joey was for it.
• 17:49
Speaker 3: Uh, well, no, he's just saying I mean no, no,
• 17:51
  Speaker 3: he's not. No, he's not, he's not.
• 17:52
Speaker 5: He's awesome running night. That was clot c Yeah, yeah,
• 17:56
Speaker 5: that I thought that was some Yeah, Mark, I'm gonna
• 18:00
Speaker 5: tell you that. All right.
• 18:02
Speaker 3: So that's what that's where we are there. So let
• 18:04
Speaker 3: me ask you about h the state of the Democratic
• 18:08
Speaker 3: Party in in in the nation as a whole. I
• 18:11
Speaker 3: saw Gavin Newsom, Governor Gaven Newsom California, being interviewed on
• 18:15
Speaker 3: Bill Maher and I'm a big and people know and
• 18:20
Speaker 3: you know, we can talk about how much crap that
• 18:23
Speaker 3: that he's getting now because he went down and had
• 18:25
Speaker 3: had dinner with the President. I'll get into that at
• 18:30
Speaker 3: some other point later. But an interviewing Gavin Newsom, uh,
• 18:33
Speaker 3: you know, Bill Maher, I think brought up some really
• 18:35
Speaker 3: really good questions for him. It's like, you folks don't
• 18:39
Speaker 3: realize why you lost in the first place, And a
• 18:42
Speaker 3: lot of it has to do with the extremes. Now
• 18:45
Speaker 3: the same could be said for the Republicans that many Republicans,
• 18:48
Speaker 3: especially in West Virginia, have gone full on right. Is
• 18:51
Speaker 3: there any hope, in your opinion, Danny, for the Democrats
• 18:55
Speaker 3: to ever get a return to the center, because I
• 18:58
Speaker 3: don't think Gavin Newsom has a chance of being like
• 19:00
Speaker 3: the president simply because he's from California.
• 19:03
Speaker 5: No, he's got a chance. But are you talking about
• 19:05
Speaker 5: in West Virginia, West Virginia Nation. Not in my lifetime
• 19:09
Speaker 5: in West Virginia. But they could get their gift is Trump,
• 19:15
Speaker 5: because if he does poorly, they'll be back in the saddle.
• 19:19
Speaker 3: And but it's going to take a whole lot of people, Danny,
• 19:22
Speaker 3: to have to want to turn against what Donald Trump
• 19:26
  Speaker 3: has gone.
• 19:27
Speaker 5: You keep watching the stock market go down.
• 19:31
Speaker 3: Let me speak to just West Virginia.
• 19:32
  Speaker 5: Okay.
• 19:33
Speaker 3: I don't see anything that Donald Trump does eroding his
• 19:37
Speaker 3: base in West Virginia. I'd agree with that, Okay, But
• 19:41
Speaker 3: on the national level, you think that's a possibility. It'll
• 19:44
Speaker 3: be interesting to see what happens in the midterms.
• 19:46
Speaker 5: Yeah, that's going to be the test and to see
• 19:50
Speaker 5: if and you know, we've got to find out about
• 19:53
Speaker 5: this tariff. Well, where are we finally going to land
• 19:56
Speaker 5: on all this? I mean the stock market going to
• 19:58
Speaker 5: be down to twenty five thousand? You don't know. I
• 20:00
Speaker 5: mean I've lost a lot of money.
• 20:02
Speaker 3: David as has everybody one hundreds of thousands of dollars.
• 20:06
Speaker 5: And even though most of my money's gone, I'm still losing.
• 20:10
Speaker 5: And I'm not saying any of it it's a bad idea.
• 20:16
Speaker 5: I don't know what he knows.
• 20:18
Speaker 3: But why is it that nearly every economist, regardless of
• 20:21
Speaker 3: their political party, political persuasion, whatever, why is it that
• 20:25
Speaker 3: nearly every economist is coming out saying this is a
• 20:29
Speaker 3: bad idea what he's doing? Because I mean, can they
• 20:31
  Speaker 3: all be wrong?
• 20:32
  Speaker 9: Know?
• 20:33
Speaker 5: The in eighteen oh five when Jefferson was sworn in,
• 20:38
Speaker 5: all he used terriffs because that's all they had, and
• 20:41
Speaker 5: tariff funded the federal government. Then he had McKinley, he
• 20:44
Speaker 5: used tariffs. But during the depression, I think it's about
• 20:49
Speaker 5: nineteen thirty, they passed something called smooth Holly and that
• 20:52
Speaker 5: was terriff and it was a digestion. So I I
• 20:59
Speaker 5: like to to see us take state or company by
• 21:05
Speaker 5: company or business by business. Uh. This thing about blanking
• 21:11
Speaker 5: the whole world with tariffs. Seemed a little overdone to me.
• 21:15
Speaker 5: And why would we pick a fight with Canada?
• 21:17
Speaker 3: Yeah, what have they ever done to us?
• 21:21
Speaker 5: I mean, and maybe somebody can call in tell me.
• 21:23
  Speaker 5: I'll listen.
• 21:25
  Speaker 6: I mean, do.
• 21:27
Speaker 5: They do they put tariffs on our milk? I heard
• 21:32
  Speaker 5: they did.
• 21:33
Speaker 3: So I'm not sure. I'm not sure.
• 21:34
  Speaker 5: So I don't know. I mean, but I'm not I'm
• 21:37
Speaker 5: not a fan of these terraffs yet I could be
• 21:40
Speaker 5: convinced now as far as those is concerned, they're going
• 21:45
Speaker 5: from the bottom up. I think they ought to come
• 21:48
Speaker 5: from the top down. Okay, that I think the President
• 21:52
Speaker 5: auto he's never made an address to the nation that
• 21:56
Speaker 5: I can remember, and he ought to make an address
• 21:58
Speaker 5: to the nation and have some arts behind him and
• 22:02
Speaker 5: talk about David during your fifties, there's not going to
• 22:06
Speaker 5: be so security for you.
• 22:07
Speaker 3: No, I don't anticipate so such.
• 22:09
Speaker 5: I mean, you'll have some in medicare, and we should
• 22:14
Speaker 5: hit that. And what you do is you put together
• 22:17
Speaker 5: Presidential Commission with some really good people on it. People Democrats,
• 22:23
Speaker 5: but people like well, I don't know, put Jamie Diamond
• 22:28
Speaker 5: on it. If Buffett, if he'd serve Larry Summers, Steven Rattner,
• 22:37
Speaker 5: Obama's Carr guy. He's really smart, and just have five
• 22:41
Speaker 5: or six people on there and say, tell us what
• 22:45
Speaker 5: we're dealing with here, and if you can give us
• 22:49
Speaker 5: a solution or give us give us solutions a variety
• 22:52
Speaker 5: of solutions to choose from.
• 22:54
Speaker 3: Talk to former Charleston mayor Danny Jones a Dave violance

• 23:09
Speaker 3: Republicans want a sex abuser who pushes authoritarianism. He pardoned
• 23:13
Speaker 3: criminals who assaulted police and praises political violence. This is
• 23:17
Speaker 3: the extreme This country and state suck.
• 23:20
Speaker 5: I think that sexual charge would be thrown out, as
• 23:23
Speaker 5: I do think also the one against this company, and
• 23:28
Speaker 5: I think all that stuff's going to be thrown out
• 23:30
Speaker 5: by the time he gets all the way up there Texas.
• 23:33
  Speaker 11: Dave.
• 23:33
Speaker 3: Great to hear Danny Jones on the program this morning.
• 23:35
Speaker 3: The man with common sense and a lot of historical information,
• 23:38
Speaker 3: hoping you have him back again soon. Absolutely, absolutely, and
• 23:41
Speaker 3: then he's always welcome here. Tex says, just showing up
• 23:46
Speaker 3: as governor is a pretty low bar good thing. Morsey Shorten,
• 23:50
  Speaker 3: that's a texture. I decid. Didn't say that that was
• 23:52
Speaker 3: a texture. Yeah, that said so what do you think
• 23:54
Speaker 3: about going back to RFK for a moment. You know,
• 23:56
Speaker 3: he's in Martinsburg a couple of Fridays ago and makes
• 23:59
Speaker 3: fun of that, makes fun of the governor. Governor says
• 24:01
Speaker 3: it was all in good fun. We had the governor
• 24:03
Speaker 3: on the Metro News midday show. He said he wasn't
• 24:05
Speaker 3: offended in the least. And as I said, you don't
• 24:08
Speaker 3: know what their discussions were like backstage. You know, Kennedy
• 24:13
Speaker 3: could have very well. So it was hoppy. Hobby did
• 24:15
Speaker 3: a big a commentary about that. So, I mean, he
• 24:19
Speaker 3: could have very easily have said, look, I'm going to
• 24:21
Speaker 3: bring this up. Are you okay with it? And Patrick
• 24:24
Speaker 3: Morris the governor Morrise, he could have said, yes, you
• 24:25
Speaker 3: don't know, but you say you were offended by it.
• 24:27
Speaker 5: I was absolutely offended by it. At the person's size,
• 24:31
Speaker 5: it's not something their height. There's not something anything you
• 24:34
Speaker 5: can do about it.
• 24:34
Speaker 3: But I think he's talking more about his weight than
• 24:36
Speaker 3: his height. Well, and again I'm not I'm not throwing stones.
• 24:39
Speaker 3: I got a little too much around the middle of myself.
• 24:41
Speaker 5: So you know, I've lost over forty pounds. But yeah, okay, Patrick,
• 24:47
Speaker 5: maybe don't do it in front of people. You know,
• 24:51
  Speaker 5: I don't know that's that's me. But Patrick, I'll to
• 24:54
Speaker 5: lose some weight then. Quite frankly, the governor, just for
• 24:58
  Speaker 5: his own health.
• 25:00
Speaker 3: Tex says, tell Danny he did not lose hundreds of
• 25:03
Speaker 3: thousands of dollars. It was just numbers on paper, not
• 25:05
Speaker 3: a tangible item. Stock market up fourteen hundred right now.
• 25:09
Speaker 5: Fair enough, that's true. But if it doesn't go up
• 25:12
Speaker 5: and I have to take money out of there to
• 25:14
Speaker 5: put my son through VMI, I'm gonna have to sell
• 25:17
Speaker 5: some stock at a lower price as it would have been,
• 25:20
Speaker 5: so that would be a paper that wouldn't be more
• 25:23
Speaker 5: in a paper loss and be a cash loss. I
• 25:25
Speaker 5: hope it doesn't come to that. I hope the president's
• 25:28
Speaker 5: right about this. But as far as see, Doze is
• 25:34
Speaker 5: not doing anything. They gave a real good interview to
• 25:38
Speaker 5: Brett Baer, and they had some of their people in there.
• 25:41
Speaker 5: These are some really sharp people. But then the Fox
• 25:44
Speaker 5: News isn't the onlyessation on the on the channel. I
• 25:47
Speaker 5: mean they really ought to don't invite Stephanopolis, but you
• 25:52
Speaker 5: couldn't invite some other journalists in there to make a presentation.
• 25:58
Speaker 3: What do you think of is Musk's influence on the
• 26:02
Speaker 3: White House so far? With his doge thing.
• 26:05
Speaker 5: I think it's okay with me, warm smart guys in
• 26:08
Speaker 5: the world. I don't have any problem with it. He's
• 26:11
Speaker 5: just he's working for the federal government. He's just not
• 26:14
  Speaker 5: getting paid.
• 26:15
Speaker 3: Texas, Dave love hearing Danny, but one thing he said,
• 26:19
Speaker 3: if he was strictly referring to the stock market, he
• 26:21
Speaker 3: has tons of losses. Well, you don't lose unless you sell.
• 26:24
Speaker 5: I understand that you're You're right so as you were,
• 26:30
Speaker 5: but is scaring people and it's scaring me.
• 26:37
Speaker 3: So Texas, Dave, what do you what to both you
• 26:40
Speaker 3: and Danny? Think about the the extinction of the dire
• 26:43
Speaker 3: wolf that died out nearly thirteen thousand years ago, and
• 26:47
Speaker 3: to discover that the CIA has invested almost two hundred
• 26:50
Speaker 3: million dollars of taxpayer dollars to colossal Bioscience as a
• 26:54
Speaker 3: company aiming to bring back the wooly mammoth and other
• 26:57
Speaker 3: extinct species to a cia of Philliate. He had a
• 27:00
Speaker 3: venture capital firm called q Tel with the goal of
• 27:02
Speaker 3: developing genetic engineering technologies. The wille mammoth work started in
• 27:06
Speaker 3: twenty twenty two. Now this has happened. To stop trying to
• 27:08
Speaker 3: be God. Okay, that's a new one to me. Okay,
• 27:12
Speaker 3: Tex says, leave it to Danny to act as an
• 27:14
Speaker 3: apologist for a sex abuser and ignore the political violence
• 27:17
Speaker 3: in his party. Yes, I know he pretends to be
• 27:19
Speaker 3: an independent, but Danny's a Republican who also fancies petty
• 27:22
Speaker 3: grievances and political threats. Do you fancy, sir, petty griemances
• 27:26
  Speaker 3: and political threats?
• 27:27
  Speaker 5: No, I'm not a Republican and I haven't voted for
• 27:29
Speaker 5: a Republican for president since Mitt Romney, and I've never
• 27:33
Speaker 5: voted for a Democrat for president. So if you want
• 27:36
Speaker 5: me to vote for a Democrat for president, nominate Governor
• 27:38
Speaker 5: Josh Shapiro. I'll vote for him.
• 27:41
Speaker 3: What do you think I'm going to ask you about
• 27:43
Speaker 3: Shapiro and John Fetterman either one. What do you think
• 27:45
Speaker 3: about John Fetterman, Well, I.
• 27:46
Speaker 5: Think he's interesting and he's a pleasant distraction.
• 27:50
Speaker 3: He's entertaining if nothing else, he's a pleasant distraction.
• 27:53
Speaker 5: And he throws he can't you know, a guy has trouble.
• 27:56
Speaker 5: He can't hear and you have to ask him stuff
• 27:59
Speaker 5: and he is to read off your question.
• 28:01
  Speaker 6: I like you.
• 28:02
  Speaker 5: I mean, I think he's a pleasant distraction to the
• 28:04
Speaker 5: whole political scene. But Jos Shapiro is a very serious man.
• 28:09
  Speaker 5: I think he'd be a fine president. And he's a Democrat.
• 28:12
Speaker 5: And I've never voted for one, not for president, voted
• 28:14
Speaker 5: for a lot of local ones.
• 28:16
Speaker 3: I wanted to ask you two about it, and I
• 28:19
Speaker 3: kind of referenced this earlier. You know, we have gotten
• 28:21
Speaker 3: to this place in the country where and people on
• 28:24
Speaker 3: the local show for me talking about this a lot
• 28:26
Speaker 3: where we're not supposed to engage with the quote unquote
• 28:31
Speaker 3: other side. We can't sit down with them, we can't
• 28:33
Speaker 3: talk with him. And Bill Maher, who I mentioned earlier.
• 28:36
Speaker 3: Bill Maher was off the show this past week. But
• 28:39
Speaker 3: he's taken all kinds of crap because he went down
• 28:41
Speaker 3: to mar Alago and was supposed to have had dinner
• 28:43
Speaker 3: with Trump. Now he'll be back on this week. I'm
• 28:45
Speaker 3: sure he'll want to talk about it. And the left,
• 28:47
Speaker 3: the far left of which Bill Maher was a part
• 28:51
Speaker 3: of for years, but he's kind of stood up against them, saying,
• 28:56
Speaker 3: you people are insane a lot of these things. And
• 29:00
Speaker 3: but if we gotten to the point, Danny, that we
• 29:02
Speaker 3: can't simply sit down and break bread with the other side,
• 29:04
Speaker 3: that you can't play. I mean, I caught all kinds
• 29:08
Speaker 3: of grief on the show for having Don Blankenship on
• 29:10
Speaker 3: the show. Don Blankenship is one of the most interesting
• 29:14
Speaker 3: people I have ever. He's been on the show three
• 29:16
Speaker 3: or four times. And every time he's on, I get
• 29:18
Speaker 3: somebody that texts or calls out front or whatever and says,
• 29:21
Speaker 3: I'm never going to listen. I can't believe you platform him.
• 29:24
Speaker 3: There's a thing in this country, Danny called free speech.
• 29:26
Speaker 5: Ye man, he's a friend of mine, a friend of yours.
• 29:29
Speaker 5: I like the guy.
• 29:30
Speaker 3: Doesn't mean I agree with him on everything, but he.
• 29:33
Speaker 5: Don't don't agree with me on everything.
• 29:35
Speaker 3: But we've gotten to this point where we can't do
• 29:37
Speaker 3: this anymore. We cannot. You are seen as a sellout.
• 29:41
Speaker 3: If Bill Maher goes and has dinner with Donald Trump
• 29:44
Speaker 3: or I have somebody from the far left or far
• 29:46
Speaker 3: right on the show or whatever, and we're not blood enemies. Man,
• 29:51
Speaker 3: I mean, where did we get to this point?
• 29:53
Speaker 5: A little time I spent the legislature. That was part
• 29:56
Speaker 5: of the fun of it. You know, you find yourself
• 29:58
Speaker 5: a Democrat because there are only twenty of us, and
• 30:00
Speaker 5: you can only get two names on a bill, and
• 30:02
Speaker 5: they wouldn't pass a bill with just one Republican name
• 30:05
Speaker 5: or two Republican names. John Overington couldn't get his name
• 30:10
Speaker 5: on a bill, and so I found myself a Democrat

Speaker 5: But you're effective in the amendments stage. But no, I don't.
• 30:28
  Speaker 5: I don't. I don't believe in it. Well, to answer
• 30:31
Speaker 5: your question, yes, we have found that time. I don't
• 30:34
Speaker 5: think it's that way up here, though, is it is
• 30:36
  Speaker 5: it that?
• 30:37
Speaker 3: Hey, look I have on the show now. I don't
• 30:39
Speaker 3: think it's as bad here because I frequently will have
• 30:41
Speaker 3: Republicans and Democrats on this show that that work together,
• 30:45
Speaker 3: and the majority of things have to have bipartisan sport,
• 30:48
Speaker 3: even with the Republican super majority. And I've had people
• 30:51
Speaker 3: as far to the left as Kayla Young and Mike Pushkin,
• 30:53
Speaker 3: it as far to the right as as say a
• 30:55
Speaker 3: Mike Stewart or whatever, who will come on this show
• 30:57
Speaker 3: and say, look, we we work together. We have to
• 30:59
Speaker 3: we have to work together.
• 31:01
Speaker 5: Pushkin tells me he works with a lot of Republicans.

• 35:32
Speaker 3: Those days are gone. And I ask why. Yeah, uh, Texas, Dave,
• 35:37
Speaker 3: I think you misunderstand what free speech is. Technically, it's
• 35:40
Speaker 3: protection from the government punishing someone for what they say
• 35:44
Speaker 3: against the government. Yes, you're allowed to say what you
• 35:46
Speaker 3: want and have whoever on your show, but there will
• 35:48
Speaker 3: be negative feedback and that's okay. Yeah, it doesn't provide,

• 36:05
Speaker 3: considering other countries can say, okay, no deal. Watch his
• 36:08
  Speaker 3: presidency flounder.
• 36:10
Speaker 5: Yeah, but that hurts them too. I mean, trade helped everybody,
• 36:16
Speaker 5: you know. Anyway, anyway, anyway, So I'm watching this thing
• 36:19
Speaker 5: on Amazon Prime. I'm gonna recommend to people called The Kings,
• 36:23
Speaker 5: and it's about four boxers in the nineteen eighties. Hearns
• 36:29
Speaker 5: Suvar Ray, Leonard Marvelous, Marvin Hagler and Roberto Durant and
• 36:37
Speaker 5: the whole thesis. But the whole theory behind it is
• 36:39
Speaker 5: they were dance partners. They had it's because of each
• 36:43
Speaker 5: other that they made the big money.
• 36:45
Speaker 3: And that was a golden time for boxing.
• 36:47
Speaker 5: Yeah it was. But and Hagler could not get Leonard
• 36:50
Speaker 5: to go in the ring, and then he quit. And
• 36:53
Speaker 5: I haven't gotten this part yet, but I know why
• 36:55
Speaker 5: he went back in the ring. He saw him fight
• 36:57
Speaker 5: John the Beast mcgobby. I remember that, and he says,
• 37:01
Speaker 5: I could tell he was starting to slide, so he waited.
• 37:05
Speaker 5: You know, he was younger than Aglar, so he waited
• 37:07
Speaker 5: till he started to slide. Now, during this they featured
• 37:10
Speaker 5: Reagan a lot for some reason, and apparently Sugar Ray
• 37:15
Speaker 5: and him are friends or were, and they had because
• 37:21
Speaker 5: Durans from Panama. They were featuring Omar Torrijos and they
• 37:26
Speaker 5: were talking about the Panama Canal and I've talked about
• 37:29
Speaker 5: that before, and this divided the conservative community. But Ronald
• 37:35
Speaker 5: Reagan had a position, and we're going to hear that position.
• 37:41
  Speaker 5: Go ahead.
• 37:42
Speaker 7: The Panama Canal zone is sovereign United States territory just
• 37:46
Speaker 7: as much as Alaska is, as well as the state's
• 37:49
Speaker 7: carved from the Louisiana purchase. We bought it, we paid
• 37:52
Speaker 7: for it, and General Torrio should be told we're going
• 37:56
  Speaker 7: to keep it.
• 37:58
Speaker 5: Now. Torrios was a gangster. They had an elected governor
• 38:03
Speaker 5: over there, elected president over there, and he overthrew it,
• 38:06
Speaker 5: and he was basically a dictator. He was a popular dictator,
• 38:11
Speaker 5: but he was a dictator. He died in nineteen eighty one,
• 38:15
  Speaker 5: died prematurely.
• 38:17
  Speaker 2: But.
• 38:19
Speaker 5: He said, oh, by the way, divided the conservative community
• 38:24
Speaker 5: because Buckley was all in favor of letting them have it,
• 38:27
Speaker 5: and they used to have these debates that didn't have
• 38:29
Speaker 5: anybody on it. But Conservatives and Buckley versus Reagan. Pat
• 38:34
Speaker 5: Buchanan said, we ought to keep it. I mean, all
• 38:36
Speaker 5: these Republicans fighting each other over it. And as I
• 38:40
Speaker 5: said on the show once before, because Randolph Cincrendo was
• 38:45
Speaker 5: running against Arch, he waited, he passed the first time
• 38:49
Speaker 5: they came by him, and then he realized they had
• 38:52
Speaker 5: enough vote sixty eight instead of sixty seven, so he
• 38:55
Speaker 5: could vote against it. And so he didn't want they
• 38:59
Speaker 5: used against him in the election because in this state,
• 39:02
Speaker 5: we wanted to keep it right.
• 39:03
Speaker 3: So talking to former Charleston mayor Danny Jones, Texas, Dave,
• 39:07
Speaker 3: please have Danny back on a regular basis. Enjoying his
• 39:09
  Speaker 3: views and comments.
• 39:11
Speaker 5: Watch the Kings if you like boxing. I love boxing.
• 39:15
Speaker 5: I love the individual effort. I like the fact that
• 39:18
Speaker 5: so many people came out of poor neighborhoods to become
• 39:20
Speaker 5: rich because they were boxers. Chierray Leonard said in DC,
• 39:24
Speaker 5: the tourists would come there and we knew they didn't
• 39:27
Speaker 5: need all their hamburger so they would throw them away
• 39:30
Speaker 5: and Chugier Ray and his friends would be in the
• 39:32
Speaker 5: trash can getting what's left to the hamburger.
• 39:35
Speaker 3: Jack says, enjoying Danny's commentary, God bless Ronald Reagan. The
• 39:38
Speaker 3: greatest presidents in Abraham Lincoln.
• 39:40
Speaker 5: I don't know about that, but he was a great leader.
• 39:43
Speaker 5: He was a he was a he was a thing
• 39:47
Speaker 5: for a lot of fun.
• 39:48
Speaker 3: Then, Yeah, and if you go back, and I'm a
• 39:50
Speaker 3: big Reagan guy, you go back and you look at
• 39:52
Speaker 3: the first term of Reagan. There was a marked difference
• 39:55
Speaker 3: between the first term of Reagan and the second. I mean,
• 40:00
Speaker 3: I feel and I was a teenager. Then if you
• 40:04
Speaker 3: look at Ronald Reagan in let's say nineteen eighty seven
• 40:07
Speaker 3: when a ram contra was going on, compared to Ronald
• 40:10
Speaker 3: Reagan of eighty one or eighty two, there's a marked difference.
• 40:14
Speaker 3: And they talked about Biden with the decline, most people
• 40:19
Speaker 3: would think Reagan had that too.
• 40:20
Speaker 5: I'll tell you one thing that happened. James Baker, who
• 40:24
Speaker 5: was Reagan's chief of staff, traded jobs with Donald Reagan
• 40:28
Speaker 5: in the Treasury Department. That was a big mistake, and
• 40:33
Speaker 5: so and Reagan had to fire Reagan. And it was
• 40:37
Speaker 5: the first lady that fired him. Yeah, he wouldn't take
• 40:40
Speaker 5: our phone call. You're gone. So then he put Howard
• 40:43
Speaker 5: Baker in there and Howard Baker said, you got to
• 40:46
Speaker 5: straighten this or on contra thing out. I mean he wasn't.
• 40:51
Speaker 5: He was telling some truth but not all the truth,
• 40:54
Speaker 5: and so they got us straight out. And I loved
• 40:58
Speaker 5: Howard Baker. Good Man.

Speaker 3: Health and Human Services. I want to bring this up
• 41:11
Speaker 3: before we go to break. I am a person who
• 41:14
Speaker 3: does not watch a lot of television. What I do,
• 41:16
Speaker 3: it's almost always documentaries because I'm the most exciting individual
• 41:20
Speaker 3: that ever lived, I said, tongue in cheek. But I
• 41:23
Speaker 3: watch a lot of sports documentaries, political documentary. But one
• 41:26
Speaker 3: of the things I love watching is I'm a big
• 41:29
Speaker 3: Johnny Carson fan. I mean, I grew up watching Carson,
• 41:32
Speaker 3: and I'm a Letterman fan too, But I like Carson,
• 41:34
Speaker 3: and one of the local channels, the Antenna or ME
• 41:37
Speaker 3: TV or somebody like that shows Carson every night at
• 41:41
Speaker 3: ten o'clock. Now, I'm also old, so I go to
• 41:43
Speaker 3: bed way before ten o'clock. But I recorded and I
• 41:46
Speaker 3: watched back some of the weekend. This past weekend, I
• 41:49
Speaker 3: was watching an episode it's I think it's Santana TV.
• 41:55
Speaker 5: Do I have it on cable?
• 41:57
Speaker 3: I mean, I've got it, I've optimum. I have been unoptimum.
• 42:00
Speaker 3: But they show Carson every night at ten o'clock, and
• 42:02
Speaker 3: I'll record him, and I don't always watch the whole show,
• 42:04
Speaker 3: but I do go back and watch a lot of
• 42:06
Speaker 3: the monologues, or maybe some of some of the comedy,
• 42:09
Speaker 3: but Mighty Carson, art players and whatever. But last week,
• 42:12
Speaker 3: or one of the shows from last week. It was
• 42:14
Speaker 3: from nineteen ninety two, and it was a month or
• 42:16
Speaker 3: so before Carson hung it up. He had Burt Reyntolds
• 42:19
Speaker 3: on the show. Bert was my hero growing up, as
• 42:21
Speaker 3: he was to every kid in the nineteen seventies pretty much.
• 42:24
Speaker 3: And I was watching the monologue and the biggest battle
• 42:28
Speaker 3: that they were, or the biggest controversy at the time,
• 42:31
Speaker 3: was over the budget and the House Bank, and of
• 42:34
Speaker 3: course they were talking about the ninety two election. Well
• 42:37
Speaker 3: this was nineteen ninety two, and they were talking about
• 42:39
Speaker 3: the election. And I told my wife, and we were
• 42:43
Speaker 3: watching this, I said, imagine, look look at how much
• 42:48
Speaker 3: things have changed since that time. Carson's monologue was all
• 42:53
Speaker 3: about what we would see today as boring stuff. We
• 42:55
Speaker 3: weren't talking about things like January sixth from a couple
• 42:58
Speaker 3: of years ago. We weren't talking about Doze. You weren't
• 43:01
Speaker 3: talking The biggest disagreements we had were over budgetary things
• 43:05
Speaker 3: and things of that nature. How things have changed.
• 43:10
Speaker 5: Yeah, Farston was, He was a Democrat, but I think
• 43:15
Speaker 5: he was friendly with Reagan. I don't think. I'm not
• 43:19
Speaker 5: sure he's a supporter, but I think he was friendly
• 43:21
Speaker 5: with him. And Don recles was a Democrat, but he
• 43:25
Speaker 5: loved the Reagans and the Bushes. Sinatra too well, Sinatra
• 43:29
Speaker 5: is the one that made them all come out when
• 43:31
Speaker 5: Reagan got born in they had all that entertainment. Sinatra
• 43:35
Speaker 5: put it all together and he pulled every marker, yeah,
• 43:38

Speaker 5: I vote for who I want to vote for. I
• 48:20
Speaker 5: voted last three elections. I've voted for the Libertarians, and
• 48:23

• 49:07
Speaker 3: Yeah, so he did a good job Texas. Anyone noticed
• 49:10
Speaker 3: how most presidents seemed to age about twenty years during
• 49:12
Speaker 3: their terms except Trump. He's handled everything with strife and fight.
• 49:15
Speaker 3: He's a businessman, so he's used to the stress and
• 49:18
Speaker 3: he's talked about terrace over thirty five years and not

Speaker 3: not because and I wanted Barack Obama, and I wanted
• 49:46
Speaker 3: Bill Clinton, and I wanted every other and Joe Biden
• 49:49
Speaker 3: to succeed. Because when the when the president succeed, the

• 49:55
Speaker 3: that way. I still like my country.
• 49:57
Speaker 5: I'll tell you some of the driver, your listener. I'll
• 49:59
Speaker 5: say that because my time on the show is just
• 50:01
Speaker 5: about over. I read Hunter Biden's book and I listened
• 50:06
Speaker 5: to it and it's really good. And he was really
• 50:10
Speaker 5: in bad shape. Yeah, he was out in California, stumbling
• 50:13
Speaker 5: around smoking crack every twenty minutes. He was in a
• 50:16
  Speaker 5: real bad day.
• 50:18
Speaker 3: Danny, it's been a pleasure to have you on the
• 50:19
Speaker 3: show to day. Now don't go away, though, because we're
• 50:21
Speaker 3: going to quickly go to the Capitol and check in

• 50:35
Speaker 13: You get the crowd warmed up, they're ready to go.

Speaker 6: I like what you did there for us, Dave.
• 50:40
Speaker 3: Yeah, Dave, My job is to be your opener. By
• 50:43
Speaker 3: the way, you know somebody did an interview on your
• 50:46
Speaker 3: show yesterday and thought they were talking to me. I'm
• 50:49
Speaker 3: not gonna mention any thing. Senator Rupie Phillips, who I
• 50:52
Speaker 3: grew up with, thought the whole time he was talking
• 50:54
Speaker 3: to me when he was talking to you.
• 50:56
Speaker 13: Well, I got that feeling because at one point in
• 50:58
Speaker 13: the interview he said something along the lines of Dave,
• 51:00
Speaker 13: we both grew up in Logan County, and I went, oh,
• 51:04
Speaker 13: he thinks I'm Allan.
• 51:05

Speaker 11: Talk to him uh No, not even close. Uh So
• 51:24

• 51:25
Speaker 13: And Senator Vince Deed's going to join us in the
• 51:28
Speaker 13: first hour from Greenbrier County. He took to the Senate
• 51:31
Speaker 13: floor and made remarks along the lines of we've done nothing, guys,
• 51:35
Speaker 13: and we've got five days to do something. So we'll
• 51:37
Speaker 13: talk to him, and a little bit later on Brad McElhoney,
• 51:40
Speaker 13: at some point we'll stop by.
• 51:42
Speaker 3: Brad's kind of floating wherever we need him today.
