- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: We are talking about James Gladstone's press conference, post 53 cut-down day press conference for James Gladstone, the Jaguar's general manager, who is always kind enough to be very
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: informative with his answers and I think thoughtful about his answers when he does meet with the media so always appreciate getting to talk with him just got back from that press conference we're gonna dive into some of my top takeaways from that press conference right here right now really appreciate y'all being here if you enjoy the content please like and subscribe you can also hit that high button it's all jacks all the time here at Jim jack so the equine yours trait
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: The Jags and Dolphins hadn't had long talks or discussions about this.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: They made a call Saturday morning.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_00]: Did not take a very long time to get the deal done for Queen Ures.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: So you would think that obviously the Dolphins were very willing to listen.
- 0:57[SPEAKER_00]: It seemed like just...
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: maybe it wasn't a fit with the new coaching staff, whatever it may be, but the jackwars were excited to get to have the opportunity to add when yours, certainly, for a 20, 28, 6 round pick and I think having some of those future
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: talked about this, right?
- 1:17[SPEAKER_00]: Having some of the future compensatory draft picks and different things from other trades down the line makes the Jack Wars more comfortable with being able to make trades at this time of year, four players and giving up later draft picks.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: You were certainly part of that, but they're excited about his talent.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_00]: They went back and watched Game Tape of him from 2025.
- 1:39[SPEAKER_00]: And again, like, I felt the same way I went back and watched what he did in 2025 as a rookie, and they feel like there's an upward trajectory there.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: I agree based on what I saw, and so they're excited to work with Quint Nures for sure.
- 1:52[SPEAKER_00]: He was asked about the Carter Bradley injury, if that had anything to do with pursuing Quint Nures.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_00]: The answer was no, they were kind of like separate incidents, but he did give an interesting tidbit that Carter Bradley got injured during that game.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: The final game and his scoring and some of the stuff he did towards the end of his time in the game was after he had already gotten injured And so he was kind of gutting it out in front of the home town, you know, he's from Jacksonville.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously Gus Bradley's son, but yeah, that was an interesting tidbit, but
- 2:27[SPEAKER_00]: The Bradley injury had nothing to do with pursuing Queen Ures.
- 2:31[SPEAKER_00]: Now, one thing that was really interesting is the conversation you have to have with a Nick Mullins, who's a veteran, who's been on roster, has been on this roster, right?
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: James Latson said he's basically another coach in the room and he knows how to operate the offense.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: He has so much experience in it.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_00]: But that's an honest conversation you have to have with a veteran in this league about are you willing to potentially go to the practice squad for us so we can add a young guy that we feel like is talented to the roster.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_00]: That's a tough conversation, but they said that the way he handled it so professionally, he's such a great teammate just wants to help out and whatever way he can.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: So they're extremely happy to have him around helping on board and, you know, just kind of help that quarterback room as a whole for sure.
- 3:20[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that's a good situation to be in having Nick Mullins on the practice squad.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: I really do like that.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: I know a lot of people weren't a fan of him being like a quarterback too for the Jack Wars, but I think
- 3:29[SPEAKER_00]: having him on the practice squad is an entirely different scenario in situation there the way it plays out.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter, the tune is pretty much the same from James Ladsstone.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: He talked about earlier this offseason how defense probably was going to be a bigger priority and just based on the way the roster is kind of constructed right now.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_00]: they need him more on defense but they appreciate the fact that they can switch things up throughout the season depending on the way different things go and they're still going to use him on offensive side of the ball and they have no intention of kind of turning off the green light for trying to do as much as they can with him on both sides of the ball and they're not in any way trying to
- 4:17[SPEAKER_00]: take away his two-way ability that's still something that they're very excited about with the Jaguar's coaching staff and front office and they just think that right now with having all the really good receivers they have and then adding the younger receivers that they were able to add in the draft this year.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: that it makes more sense to be full time on the defensive side of the ball and part time on offense.
- 4:44[SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of how they're going to roll.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: Liam Cohen talked about that already.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think it's probably the smart way to handle things as well based on the way the roster is constructed, but just kind of consistent through line there with James Lads Stone all off season.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_00]: the coach and the GM are obviously on the same page here with that one.
- 5:02[SPEAKER_00]: Regarding the Patrick McCary injury, his timeline, he is on short term IR, so he has to miss the first four weeks of the season.
- 5:13[SPEAKER_00]: James Ladson did say he expects him to be back and be able to contribute when he shortly after that window or right after that window, so they're not expecting him.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: was going to be out for a longer period of time than that.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_00]: But short-term IR and they do expect him shortly back shortly after that four week window kind of.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: So Patrick McCary will add some good depth.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: I feel like, you know, he's not going to be slotted in as a starter anymore.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: You have a starting five that you feel really comfortable with, and that includes manual pregnant on.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: Talked about Anton Harris, and if he talked to him, he feels more comfortable at left tackle.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_00]: Cole Van Lannan feels like he can play anywhere, so it is Anton left or right side.
- 6:05[SPEAKER_00]: Cole Van Lannan feels like he can play any position on the offensive line, but his most comfortable position is actually right tackle, so they're able to get the two guys, they're best two offensive linemen in my opinion, playing the positions they feel most comfortable with on the left and right side, which I think is definitely a very good thing to lock in.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_00]: And I also think a very good thing to lock in is that my booky lock of the season,
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: It's back.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: The first one is a no-brainer.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_00]: Patriots in Seattle for NFL kickoff.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_00]: My bookie is asking one simple question.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: Will the Seahawks raise their championship banner that night?
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: Of course they will.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: The defending champs homeowner.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's what it's all about.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: You're getting that bet at plus money odds you're getting paid to say yes by my bookie.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: The Seahawks will do the thing the entire night is built around.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: That is the first my bookie lock of this season.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: There will be more coming all season long.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: Get in before kick off, sign up at my bookie with my promo code Duval, DUVAL, all caps, and start your season off with a win.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: Anytime anywhere, that's my bookie code Duval must be 21 plus 18 plus and select jurisdictions, terms and conditions apply.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: Gambling problem call when you're in your game, or visit 100gambler.net, for free confidence is for available 24.7.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, offensive line feels like it's in a good spot.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: The Parker Washington deal, that came up, a potential Parker Washington deal, you could say.
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: He talked about they are having a very healthy back and forth right now.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar is in Parker Washington, Washington's camp.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: They love everything about Parker Washington.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: They won't have to be in Jacksonville.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: They love the way he approaches things.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: They love the way he finished last season and has ascended and carried all that momentum into this off season and then a training camp And they feel like there's healthy progress being made and also asked like would they be willing to continue the deal into the season and
- 7:49[SPEAKER_00]: would they be comfortable with that?
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: And when I say deal, the negotiations end to the season, would they be comfortable with that?
- 7:56[SPEAKER_00]: And James Lads don't talk about how, yes, they've shown that they're willingness to negotiate during the year is not going the way and they feel the same way about Parker Washington.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: So it could be a situation where it happens between now and game day, September 13th.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: It could happen during the season for a new Parker Washington
- 8:18[SPEAKER_00]: are actively engaging in contracting negotiations, which I think is a very good thing.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_00]: Asked about the Josh Hines Allen Restructure, which happened yesterday, they converted some of his salary to a signing bonus, clearing up over $4 million in cap space, and really James Ladsson said that that was all about having the flexibility to if a opportunity
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: Pivot quickly, like giving themselves the flexibility where if an opportunity presents itself, they will be able to pursue, whether whatever it may be, a star player that could potentially help them out of certain spot, like the Chicobe-Miris situation last year, not necessarily acquiring a star, but acquiring a stabilizing force for them.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_00]: They were in on potentially trading for Quinn and Williams last year as well.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: So there's different things that can potentially come up throughout the season
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: fix a problem you have or just elevate a unit and that they want to be flexible enough and Josh Hines Allen restructuring was just part of that flexibility.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_00]: They now have plenty of cap space and all likelihood to pursue whatever they need to pursue.
- 9:30[SPEAKER_00]: And they'll be able to do more of restructuring if they feel like that will give them more flexibility for sure with some certain other players, Trevor Lawrence is one of them.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: When it comes to the edge, I asked James, you know, three edge rushers that are undrafted for agents have made the roster in the last two years.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like, is that just super rare?
- 9:53[SPEAKER_00]: Because I cannot remember anything like that ever happening that I've seen in the NFL.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, yeah, it's definitely not common, especially at the edge spot, because usually undrafted guys, it's difficult for them to make a 53.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: It's difficult for them to contribute.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_00]: But that's exactly what those guys have done specifically,
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: and green from last year, and then Brian Thomas Jr. makes the roster this year as an undrafted free agent.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: And so, yeah, very rare, but credits kind of like the approach that they have with the entire collaborative process of not only drafting players, but pursuing undrafted free agents and making those lists and getting those guys signed up.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: It's crazy that it's happened, but all three of those guys feel like good players.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_00]: They really do.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: And so they're all in the roster right now.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: What will happen when Zach Durfy is clear to return from injured reserve, not exactly sure how that will play out, but they went with those guys and the reason they went with those guys at Ed just because they felt like they earned it.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: And to me, he wasn't
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: Specifically trying to say that the linebackers didn't earn it, but when he was asked about going with more edge players versus linebackers going heavier at the edge spot and lighter at the off ball linebackers spot, he talked about the edge guys earning it.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: So to me that just shows like those three players that were on draft free agents last couple years, they absolutely earned it.
- 11:14[SPEAKER_00]: Jail him a cloud dealt with a lot of injury.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_00]: Jack Kaiser dealt with injury.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: Both of those guys did not make the active roster the 53.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: They're on the practice squad now.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that is kind of not an indictment on those players at all, but they weren't able to earn it in the same way the guys that were healthy were able to earn it at the edge spots.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: So
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: I think that that's something they're going to continuously work towards is everybody that makes the roster, everybody that contributes, you have to earn it, it's not given.
- 11:42[SPEAKER_00]: Even if you were a draft pick last year, like Jack Kaiser, even if you were a draft pick last year, like J.L.M.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: and Clout, you got to go earn it and those edge guys did that.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's speaking of earning it like he talked about the rookie wide receiver as Josh Cameron CJ Williams They have earned the trust of everyone in that building and if they have to contribute at a high level early on There's a lot of confidence no one's flinching about that and Emmanuel pregnant on he talked about him Absolutely earning it in terms of you know becoming a starter somebody that they can rely on immediately and they feel like he really
- 12:17[SPEAKER_00]: Over the back half of training camp started showing all of his superpowers and mitigating some of the weaknesses He was showing early on and just becoming a much more complete player.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a big deal And then when you're your GM is consistently not even being asked He wasn't asked about how many games are going to win this year what their goal was for you know super rule whatever He was asked a lot of different questions and in a lot of the responses
- 12:42[SPEAKER_00]: it all came back to winning football games.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: Not shying away from talking about winning football games, I think is a really good thing.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's something Jaguar's fans should want to hear.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_00]: This organization is all about winning.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, there's nice little consolation prizes here and there, but it's all about winning and everything that they do lends itself towards that in my opinion.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_00]: So, fired up to hear from James Gladstone, fired up for the regular season.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it gets kicked off next weekend.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, obviously for the Jaguar's next weekend.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_00]: Wednesday, I think it gets kicked off, you know, just eight days away for the NFL in general.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna be a busy week of football.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: I can't wait for it.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully you guys are excited for it too.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks so much for tuning in.
