- 1:49on in the show, we at State Senator and current Attorney General Canada Mike
- 1:53Stewart will be on the show a little bit later on. Plus, I
- 1:56want to I got a couple of things I want to get into today.
- 1:59A little bit later on the show, I want to get into the Steve
- 2:00Williams story. Steve Williams, of course, the mayor of Huntington, of
- 2:05making it a fish show it can't really be a fish ul till January,
- 2:07but making it as close to official as you can. He filed his pretty
- 2:10candidacy papers to run for governor or the Democratic side, and I got a
- 2:15path where Steve Williams can do well. I'm not going to say where he
- 2:19can win, but I got a couple ideas on how he could do a
- 2:22little bit better. Does that make any sense. We'll to talk about that
- 2:24coming up a little bit later on as well. And I've got some other
- 2:28things in the news I want to get to as well. But it's Monday,
- 2:30and you know how we do it. Every Monday, we bring a
- 2:32different mayor in from one of the fine municipalities here in the area, in
- 2:37our listening area. This morning we have the mayor of Montgomery, Greg Ingram
- 2:40on the show. Good morning, Sarah, Welcome to the show. Good
- 2:43Dave. How are you to do? I'm doing fine, Thank you for
- 2:45a being here. One of the many cool things about your town. A
- 2:49lot of people may not know this is it actually straddles two counties. It
- 2:53does not only it's not the only city in the state. I don't think
- 2:55that does that. It's still a pretty cool factor either way. None other
- 2:59ones. Okay. One of the things I learned in my time in state
- 3:01government, in dealing with the city of Montgomery, is that your city hall
- 3:07actually straddles two counties. Not anymore, not anyway, doesn't do that any
- 3:10We moved into one of the other buildings. Oh that's right, Okay,
- 3:14I saw your picture that you posted that up. But we used to straddle.
- 3:16We were in both counties. In the county line went right down the
- 3:19hallway. It was unique. When I was covering an election there, no,
- 3:23actually what Yeah, I was covering an election there one time. And
- 3:25you know when I worked for one time, I worked for the Secretary of
- 3:28State's office, and we would go out to all these different municipalities whatever.
- 3:32I was able to cover two counties in one building. Yeah, mister Carver
- 3:37used to say when he made me mad, I just moved my desk over
- 3:38in Fact County. That was like one of the coolest things in the world.
- 3:44Mayor Greg Ingram, give us some of your background. Well, to
- 3:46tell me about you. I was born in Run County, Spencer, West
- 3:49Virginia, grew up a little bit in Walton, grew up a little bit
- 3:52in Dunbar, grew up a little bit in Cabin Creekshulliona area. Bill,
- 3:55Did you just keep getting run out of all these communities? Yeah, you
- 4:01know, they don't put up with me for so long. But I finally
- 4:04ended up in Montgomery and graduated from Westvirginia Tech, graduated from East Bank Eastbank
- 4:12High School first, of course, and then worked for the Walker family and
- 4:15Walker Machinery. Probably one of the best career choices that anybody could make.
- 4:20That was just a fantastic family at work. How long were you there forty
- 4:24two years, forty years, forty three years? Yeah, wow, with
- 4:28one company. Yeah, and you saw a lot of different changes with that
- 4:30company. I'm sure we did. And I tell you again, I can't
- 4:35say enough about the Walker family. Their just first class all the way.
- 4:39So let's talk about the town. Give me the elevator speech about Montgomery.
- 4:42Well, you know, we took a couple of gut punches there back in
- 4:46seventeen when West Virginia Tech was moved to Beckley and then Fatcast School was closed
- 4:51to high school. So that was just one gut punch right after the other.
- 4:55And I knew that the college was leaving before from mayor, and I
- 5:00just thought that maybe I had the skill set to try to weave our way
- 5:03through that and hopefully, but I can't do it. I certainly don't do
- 5:09it all with myself. I've got the best staff of any mayor in the
- 5:13county. I mean, any mayor anywhere. We all have good staff,
- 5:16but the Montgomery staff is just outstanding. But anyway, so we started rebuilding
- 5:24and started working on the town and doing little things. And it takes a
- 5:28long time. I've been mayor now seven years. I'll be up for election
- 5:33next year. But we've done a lot and we've had a lot of outside
- 5:38help, we really have. The Governor's helped us a lot with the Challenge
- 5:41Academy. Put the Challenge Academy in Montgomery. You know, those kids that
- 5:46come in there really need they need the Challenge Academy. I always say,
- 5:49they come in looking like slinkies and they leave standing attention. Uh it's a
- 5:55it's a transformation of the mind. That is amazing of what what the Challenge
- 6:01Academy does for our kids. And uh, of course we you know,
- 6:04Montgomery was blessed with two colleges. We had Westernior Table, we have Bridge
- 6:09Valley Community Technical College, and Bridge Valley is still there. They're expanding their
- 6:14program. Doctor Casey Sachs on the show on Friday, she spoke very highly
- 6:17of you and your administrative absolutely, And I tell you Casey is she's she's
- 6:21a real sharp individual and she's got a lot doing a lot of good things
- 6:26for Bridge Valley, not only in Charleston or South Charleston, but also in
- 6:30back or Peckley. In Montgomery, we've had a lot of programs that are
- 6:36expanding up there. We've got a private high school there now, the Montgomery
- 6:43Preparatory Academy. So we still say it's you know, the old Montgomery High
- 6:46School used to say that where the river flows in, uh, education the
- 6:54seed of education. Uh. And it's still that. It's still that way.
- 6:58There's still a lot of educational optunity and Montgomery Montgomery General Hospital of course,
- 7:02is still there and they're doing fantastic. Got an AMFM radio station up
- 7:06there now, and television station is there. Local it's just a community talper
- 7:12right, community community access. So we've got those things going on, and
- 7:16got a new bridge, not a new bridge, but a rebuilt bridge.
- 7:20It's about thirteen million dollars worth of renovations the Montgomery Bridge, and I hope
- 7:25we can get the rest of it painted. They painted half, we got
- 7:28the top half done. So there's a lot of things going on, but
- 7:31we've had a lot of outside help. We do have another company that's going
- 7:38to come in from North Dakota. It's called Education for Prosperity and it's a
- 7:44they design and manufacture robots for interactive robots for museums. The kids can play
- 7:54on these things, so they'll be hopefully we get the documentation done with WU
- 8:01and we'll have a robotic museum in Montgomery and they teach. It's called if
- 8:05you wanted to see it on the website's Education for Prosperity. That's the nonprofit
- 8:09division, and there's a profit division where they manufacture these robots. So I
- 8:15think that's going to be a big plus. And you know, the owner
- 8:18of that organization was in and and just so happened that the Boy Scouts were
- 8:22in up and up on New River Gorge, and so we took him up
- 8:26there, brought him down the Clay Center. He got to see a lot
- 8:30of the museums and the type and went to Tamarack and those things. So
- 8:35he'll be here. He's excited to be here. Sees a lot of opportunity
- 8:39here. But once to get out of North Dakota as quick as you can,
- 8:41he said, text me the other night, I said it was two
- 8:45degrees so he was looking at our weather. He said, I want to
- 8:48be there. Well, it's going to be much cooler this week here,
- 8:50But I I could certainly understand that what kind of a time frame are we
- 8:56looking at for this when this thing maybe up and running. Man, Well,
- 8:58he actually wanted to be here before snow flew in North Dakota. I
- 9:03don't think he's going to make no because generally found know a little bit about
- 9:07that part of the world. You normally in September October you usually get a
- 9:09pretty big snow. In the case of everything missed that everything goes really well,
- 9:16hopefully in the spring, spring, midsummer. But how many approximately,
- 9:20how many people we think will be employed there? He will bring five with
- 9:24him, and he has said probably eighteen, maybe microm of eighteen people.
- 9:31As he gets up and running. They build all their own stuff there on
- 9:35site. They have their own three D printers and they print their own parts
- 9:39and they do those type of things, so they'll need people to help me
- 9:43in the middle. Well, and anytime that a business comes in, I
- 9:46mean, and not everything's going to be new Core or Toyota as we say,
- 9:50but every little bit helps, every little bit that's good, and that's
- 9:52going to spurn some you know, local other other entities hopefully to come in
- 9:56exactly or at least benefit. And the Upper Cannol Valley of Montgomery too,
- 10:00we're pretty much land locked up there. I mean, every available lands have
- 10:03something on it. And so these these small small companies that come in,
- 10:11every little bit helps, and it's jobs. It provides some income for people.
- 10:16And you know, of course, we've got my opinion of beautiful city
- 10:22in West Virginia right here in Charleston. I mean, the access here and
- 10:28the things that are here in Charleston. We may not have it Montgomery,
- 10:31but we're only thirty miles away. And the other good thing is we're only
- 10:33thirty miles from the New Room Goards. So and now now with that being
- 10:37a national park, I mean, yeah, it's kind of puts us in
- 10:39a good spot. Yeah, but very peaceful and pretty safe up there.
- 10:45You know I always say we'll never get hit with a nuclear bomb unless they
- 10:48miss somebody else. That's one way to put it out. Yes, we're
- 10:52talking with the mayor Montgomery, Greg Ingram here on Mayor Monday on the day.
- 10:56Allan. In addition to being the mayor, you've also annound you're going
- 10:58to be running for the House of Delegates district I am, I'll pre candidacy
- 11:03paper have to run for District fifty two. That's the Upper Kannov Valley Kannall
- 11:09City to Montgomery. And you know, as you said, it covers all
- 11:13of Montgomery even a little piece of Fat County the other end. So and
- 11:18you can do both. You could be mayor and serving the how they're both
- 11:20part time jobs. Okay, so after as somebody who is I guess retired
- 11:26as far as your your John with Walker and you're the mayor. So now,
- 11:31why do you want to add House of Delegates in there? Well,
- 11:33I think there's so many things that needs to be done in the Upper Kannal
- 11:35Valley and that's the district I live in. I believe that I do believe
- 11:39in regionalism. I think that you know, the we have nine municipalities in
- 11:46the Iprakannov Valley, and I just say, why there's so many things and
- 11:50regionalism is not something you just flip a switch. I believe regionalism is something
- 11:54that you start making services, regionalize the services emple. Why wouldn't you have
- 12:01one fire department and different different stations throughout. Why don't you have one police
- 12:11department after kanav Valley. Those are kind of the thoughts that I think of,
- 12:15and then eventually you can move into regionalism, maybe as as one unit.
- 12:20But I do believe that public service is something that we are going to
- 12:24have to in West Virginia. We're gonna have to regionalize to survive because you
- 12:30know, I'm from a small community and I know what the struggles are.
- 12:33But I think if you look at some of the areas that that are not
- 12:39a municipality, like Shillian Cabin Creek, Little Creek Area, Campbell's Creek,
- 12:45those folks need services that we all have, and uh the only way we
- 12:48can do that is is to regionalize and try to bring in UH. So,
- 12:52I don't know that I can do that, but I can certainly carry
- 12:56that that word to the State House and try to push that that agenda.
- 13:01Talking again with the Mayor of Montgomery, Greg Ingram. I want to wish
- 13:05you the best, mayor is both mayor of Montgomery and also your bid for
- 13:07the House of Delegates. I will say that you folks do a great job
- 13:11on your town Facebook page because I was kind of stalking a little bit last
- 13:15night and get some notes together for the show. I think you just had
- 13:16a big fall festival, trunk or treat or something just happened there Trump and
- 13:20Tree. Yeah, and so I know you. I'm sure you got big
- 13:24things coming up as we headed into the Christmas season as well. We have
- 13:26Christmas Pate. Christmas Parade is December first, first Friday of December every year.
- 13:33Unfortunately, I'll be in Washington, DC that day, so i won't
- 13:37be there for the parade, but I'm sure i'll see it on Facebook.
- 13:39Okay, Mayor, I appreciate you. I'll have you back on again.

- 17:07morning, sir, how are you hey? Good morning? Thanks for having
- 17:11me. Boy. It feels like faul, doesn't it It does. It's
- 17:12gonna feel more like fault here in a couple of days. They tell us
- 17:15it is. But I tell you, I've blown those leaves so many times.
- 17:17I'm ready for it to end. Well, they're just gonna blow back
- 17:19again, you know. That's why I tell my wife, They're just going
- 17:22to fall again, if not this year, next year. So last time
- 17:25we talked to you were headed to the border. How was your trip?
- 17:26I tell you a remarkable trip, And I tell you what It opens up
- 17:30your eyes. I mean you can see the stuff on television, you can
- 17:33see the challenge across the board, but it changes everything, I think,
- 17:37to see it up front and in person, to talk with law enforcement who
- 17:41worked that border every single day, To be in some of those boats going
- 17:45up and down the Rio grand to be able to see and you get disoriented.
- 17:49Actually, when you're looking what you think is south, it's actually American.
- 17:52When you're looking what you think is north, it's Mexico. And so
- 17:57we need some billboards on that border to say welcome to Mexico on the US
- 18:03side. That way, when they get there, they're like, oh my
- 18:06god, I need to turn around and go back. We went the wrong
- 18:07direction. Mike. I think it was a legitimate, legitimate question. It
- 18:12was after me after the last time you were on the show. Somebody Texas
- 18:15and I know you went on the trip. There are a couple other legislators
- 18:18that went, when do you go? Would you take a trip like that?
- 18:21Who pays for those sort of things. Yeah, so I paid my
- 18:23flight, the accommodations at the hotel, and I guess the tour itself,
- 18:29whatever that cost was paid for a group by a group called a Federation for
- 18:33American Immigration Reform. Not unusual. But I paid my own flight down,
- 18:40which is the biggest piece of that. But I think it's important that we
- 18:45see these things straight up. And some people say, well, geez,
- 18:47what's the matter to a candidate for attorney general or a state senator? My
- 18:52goodness, have you seen the numbers? And West Virginia's not immune from this
- 18:56challenge? Have you seen the folks on the Terror watchless that have made their
- 19:00way across that border. There's going to be a serious issue moving into the
- 19:04future. And when you see the mere numbers almost three hundred thousand in the
- 19:10last month coming across that border, the number of folks, especially with a
- 19:14world in chaos and the challenges we face as a country, that southern border
- 19:18does matter. With respect to what we're seeing in Israel today or what we're
- 19:22seeing in Ukraine. It all ties together. We need to be smart,
- 19:26we need to be prepared, and I think it's important for policymakers to see
- 19:30these things upfront, close and personal. Again, we're talking with the state
- 19:33senator and Candida for Attorney General, Mike Stewart here on the Dave Allen Show.
- 19:37It is a three person race, Sir for attorney General, now yourself
- 19:41state auditor or state senator rather Ryan well as well as State Auditor JB.
- 19:45Mccusky on the Republican side. It's kind of a little ugly. I mean
- 19:49a little ugly, just a little note. I mean, I don't know
- 19:52if it's ugly. Listen. I think it's fair to be able to talk
- 19:55about record. That's all I talk about is the record. And if we've
- 19:57gotten to the point in Paul that we can't talk about people's voting records,
- 20:03because I've seen this time and time again. The reason people are so cynical
- 20:06is guys during a campaign season, they hear folks say this is where they
- 20:10stand, they get elected, they go someplace completely different. Listen. It's
- 20:15really a two man race, let's be honest about it. It's a race
- 20:18between JB. McCuskey and myself. I think Ryan Weld has a chance at
- 20:22all. I mean, go out there and run your race. I like
- 20:26Ryan. He serves with me in the State Senate. He's a he's a
- 20:29good young man. But I think it's a two person race from all indications
- 20:33as we travel the state, as we look at whatever pole happens to be
- 20:37out there. But listen, he could run an incredible race, pull a
- 20:41surprise that happens all the time. But it's a two person race right now.
- 20:45And the questions I'm asking are at the look at the record. Look
- 20:49at the record. Where do you stand on the Second Amendment? JB.
- 20:52Mccowsky four times voted against the Second Amendment and against concealed carry. That's a
- 20:57totally valid question race. Why do I have to raise these questions so early?
- 21:03I'm not going to be the deeply funded, good old boy candidate.
- 21:07That's not going to happen right Personal injury attorneys aren't loading Steward up with cash,
- 21:11nor would I take it. Folks that have been around for a long
- 21:15time that want that softer, easier, sort of traditional politician approach, they're
- 21:22going to be with JB. And frankly, he brought four hundred thousand dollars
- 21:26to the race from that failed gubernatorial race where I think he finished at three
- 21:30or four percent. Listen, this is going to be a Republican primary where
- 21:33conservatives get to come out and express their interest in whatever candidate they want to
- 21:38be the next attorney general. But make no mistake, the most important race
- 21:44on the ballot's not governor in the next election, it's attorney general. That's
- 21:48where the battles are fought in federal court. I'm running against the guy hasn't
- 21:52been a practicing lawyer for almost eight years at least. I think that's relative.
- 22:00I'm running against somebody who's been against the Second Amendment multiple times. I
- 22:03think it matters so on a host of different issues. It's not that I
- 22:08dislike JB. He's a friend of mine. I like JB. But these
- 22:11issues matter when it comes to attorney general, And unlike any time in our
- 22:15past, the next Attorney General is going to have to live in the federal
- 22:18courts. Whether it's transgenderism, whether it's tort reform. You got a question
- 22:22where you stand on tort reform, if you're taking tens of thousands of dollars
- 22:26from personal injury lawyers, whether we're talking about bail reform and cash list spail,
- 22:33where do you stand on these issues? So all I say is,
- 22:36let's have these debates, Let's talk about the issues. Let's make sure the
- 22:40public's well informed as to where everybody stands, so that when they go to
- 22:44vote, it's not about who has the deepest wallet. It's about who stands
- 22:47with the people of West Virginia what they want in the next attorney general.
- 22:51So you're open for a debate, discussion, forum, whatever. I'm sure
- 22:53it's going to happen at some point, but you're one hundred percent of board.
- 22:56I'm ready right now. We can call in and you we'll spend the
- 22:59rest of the day talking about these Listen. I'm not somebody who has a
- 23:02consultant behind me telling me what to think. I realize that I have opinions
- 23:07on things. But I can tell you this as I travel around West Virginia,
- 23:10grassroots folks are with me in this campaign. Why because they care about
- 23:14the issues that I care about. I care about those issues for them.
- 23:18I feel really good about where we're at. All right. I want to
- 23:21ask you. I'm going to ask you a tough question here, all right,
- 23:23and it has to do with the media. Now, you've had some
- 23:26not so nice things to say about the media as of late. You and
- 23:30I have known each other for quite some time. I think we're friends.
- 23:33You know, I'm a member of the media, right, Well, say
- 23:37when you make comments, though, Mike, when you say the media,
- 23:40you're taking us all down. So here's the challenge, right when I use
- 23:44the term the media, huh. Right, if I've got one hundred and
- 23:47thirty two or whatever those characters are at on Twitter, listen, there is
- 23:49a big difference. There's a reason your show starts with a disclaimer. I
- 23:53think it's something like, the views and opinions expressed on this show are not
- 23:57the views and opinions of WSA. Listen. I view the media those folks
- 24:03who consider themselves journalists different than folks who are commentators or opinionists or editorialists.
- 24:10I think that this show you do do a lot with respect to news and
- 24:14information to provide to the public, But I don't think you hold yourself out
- 24:18as a journalist. Journalist now, now there's a huge difference. My difference
- 24:22comes with journalists, journalists who are drawing their personal bias into stories and basically
- 24:29letting that feed into the public. I'll give you an example, CPS.
- 24:33After the system ofvill incident, I let a week pass as I looked at
- 24:36the facts and circumstances as a former federal US attorney, these things matter to
- 24:41me. I can tell you this. When I was US attorney, despite
- 24:44this opiate scourge that's poisoned our countryside and our families, I received three or
- 24:49four times as many questions and concerns about things like CPS I issued as a
- 24:56sitting state senator, a member of the Judiciary Committee, as a former u
- 25:00US attorney, and is a candidate for Attorney general. A call for full
- 25:03transparency on Sissonville and a full reveal as to how the operations of the entity
- 25:08works CPS that is newsworthy. And so one member of the journalist community holds
- 25:15himself out as a journalist, decided it's too late, it's not material,
- 25:19doesn't matter. And so despite all those news organizations around the state, including
- 25:26this one, who reported on that call, that important story that we still
- 25:30don't have the facts on, this journalist said, no, no, no,
- 25:33I just don't think it's relative or important. So all of the newspapers
- 25:37in that family of that big company, their readers never got the story.
- 25:44So a journalist got to define whether it was news or not. That's my
- 25:48issue, is that it's not. When it comes to shows like this,
- 25:52you're allowed to have any opinion you want. You can think Stuart's a more
- 25:56honor, you can support Stuart doesn't matter right on here purporting to deliver the
- 26:02news to folks. The problem people have, I think, and I think
- 26:06it's fair for me to say this. All across West vir Jan our country
- 26:08are folks who define the news for us, what's material, what's not material,
- 26:14whether they like Trump or don't like Trump. You've said many times,
- 26:17Listen, Trump did some good things as president, but he's not my cup
- 26:19of tea. Coming into twenty twenty four, we need another candidate. You're
- 26:22totally entitled to that. You're not a journalist. Journalist though, should be
- 26:26reporting on Donald Trump from the facts and circumstances. Let the opinions of the
- 26:32public be determined by the facts, not by some journalists who gets in the
- 26:36middle and defines it for us and tells us what to think and changes facts
- 26:41to fit their personal buyas. That's my issue here, and I draw a
- 26:45clear distinction between commentators and folks like Sean Hannity on Fox News, not journalists.
- 26:51Not journalist, thank you, Lots of opinions but not journalism. Journalists
- 26:56though, like Brett Baher and folks who work for a newspaper, folks who
- 27:00hold themselves out as journalist should report the facts, let the public decide.
- 27:04It's that simple. We saw him speaking of Trump, Mike. We saw
- 27:07last week that the former president endorsed Governor Justice in his race for US Senate.
- 27:11You headed up the Trump campaign in West Virginia twenty sixteen. Any chance
- 27:15of a Trump endorsement for you, Well, sit listen. I'd certainly love
- 27:19one, But I can tell you this, with Donald Trump, I leave
- 27:22it to his campaign to make up all those determinations. I've been with them
- 27:26from the beginning. I support President Trump. I am here today calling on
- 27:30my opponents for attorney General to endorse President Trump. Both of them have been
- 27:34on the record pretty critical of President Trump in the past. He's going to
- 27:37be our nominee. There's no question he's going to be the next president of
- 27:41the United States if we all get behind him. And I need those opponents
- 27:45who are running for Attorney general to make it clear to the public where they
- 27:47stand with respect to the former president being the next president. This is a
- 27:52world in chaos. The economies in crisis. I look at families who are
- 27:56struggling to get by every single week to pay for groceries, but food on
- 28:00the table, to put gas in their car. Listen, Donald Trump.
- 28:04I said this before on Hoppy Kerchival show. I wasn't supporting Donald Trump to
- 28:08be my pastor. I was supporting Donald Trump to be my president. Why.
- 28:12Because we need a tough leader and I believe fundamentally that if he were
- 28:17president today, this world in chaos wouldn't be the case, and interest rates
- 28:21wouldn't be soaring. Let's get back to you as attorney general. Why do
- 28:26you think you're the best candidate. Well, I don't think there's any question
- 28:29that I'm the best candidate. I think if you were to ask my opponents
- 28:32in that secret moment where they weren't being recorded, they say Stuart's the best
- 28:36candidate. You really think that JB. McCuskey and Ryan Weld are going to
- 28:40say Stuart's the best candidate. Listen, they may. I don't think there's
- 28:42any question. There's no question. Listen. My background far bigger from the
- 28:47standpoint of the experience needed to be attorney general. I don't say it lately.
- 28:52I'm not bragging about it. The facts are the facts. I've been
- 28:55a practicing lawyer for more than twenty years. I've had a big record as
- 28:59you attorney, prosecuting two members of the State Supreme Court. And trust me,
- 29:03I've learned that prosecuting those two members of the State Supreme Court although the
- 29:07right thing to do. They don't make it easy to run for other offices
- 29:11because the good old boys take note. They're like, holy crap, Stuirt's
- 29:14not going to follow our orders. And I'll say this that I'm not the
- 29:18lobbyist favorite right because I'm not going to follow their charge every time they tell
- 29:22me what to do. I'm gonna look at every issue independently. I don't
- 29:26believe that there's any candidate in West Virginia. I'm not running for the title
- 29:29of attorney general. I'm not running to be attorney general. I'm running to
- 29:33do attorney general. There's a big difference. I'm not using this as a
- 29:37stepping stone, regardless of what folks say. I'm not. So you don't
- 29:41have any plans to make maybe after ag if you win this race of maybe
- 29:45and I know you can't predict a future, but I mean, you're not
- 29:48looking at that someday, maybe running for Senate or governor or something like that.
- 29:52I can tell you categorically, West Virginia needs somebody like me. And
- 29:56listen, I sometimes I get rubbed as being gruff and being tough and not
- 30:00being nice enough out on the campaign. Trill, let me tell you what
- 30:03you don't need as an attorney general in West Virginia. When the EPA is
- 30:07breathing down your neck, trying to take your jobs, when the FTC is
- 30:11coming after you, when those folks trying to take your guns on the Second
- 30:15Amendment, the last thing you need is a nice, good old boy to
- 30:18be your attorney general. You need somebody ready to roll up their sleeves and
- 30:22get to work to fight. That's a job probably built for me. And
- 30:26what I mean by that is somebody who has the experience to go in the
- 30:30courtroom and win. One of my candidates hasn't even practiced law for almost eight
- 30:34years, and the little experience he does have, and we can talk about
- 30:40this later. Nicholas County, the flood, the flood issues. After he
- 30:44had that big press conference, he rolls off to my office several days later
- 30:48to say, hey, you need to take this case. You need to
- 30:51take this case, but I can tell you it compromised my ability to prosecute
- 30:55those cases. Why because of things that had been done in the field,
- 31:00and so I've had lots of press conferences. My view is, though you
- 31:03hold that press conference to you get all the facts lined up and you're ready
- 31:07to move forward with prosecution, my rate is high. I've been very successful
- 31:11in that respect, but I think more than anything, the people of West
- 31:15Virginia need somebody like me to go in as Attorney general. Continue to be
- 31:19aggressive, but also be prepared to fight. I'm not going to be there
- 31:23to make anybody happier, to represent any special interest group, but the people
- 31:26of West Virginia and those jobs as values we're fighting for. Whether it's transgenderism,
- 31:32whether it's the Second Amendment, whether it's drilling, fracking, and mining.
- 31:36These issues are real. You may not like that Stuart talks about these
- 31:40things, but listen. If I run a campaign as a fighter, I'll
- 31:42be an Attorney general as a fighter. I'm prepared day one. I don't
- 31:47need to learn on the job. I know how to build a big organization,
- 31:51be successful at doing it, and I can win in the federal courts
- 31:52for our people. Attorney General candidate, State Senator Mike Stewart. It's always
- 31:56a pleasure to have you on the show. Man great, thanks you.
- 32:00It's pretty much you set me up for the rest of the week so I
- 32:00can just talk about this interview. So that's all I have to No more
- 32:04home right, just know. But I love the calls too. I love
- 32:06the haters calling in to say how terrible Steward is. Well, not just
- 32:09your family. This is Mike will talk again. Su Ben, thanks a
- 32:14lot, Thank you. Twenty one minutes away from tent Hold on one second.

- 35:19Jeff, is that I don't pretty much have to do anything the rest
- 35:22of the week. I can cancel all the guests. I can just read
- 35:24the text when Mike Stewart is on this show, and I'll do my best
- 35:29to try to give in anybod else. I got some news items I want
- 35:30to get to as well, So let me go ahead and start with the
- 35:32text. Tex says. So Mike's confusion then, is he's assuming everything he
- 35:37says and does is newsworthy. Why, uh, Texas, David, I
- 35:44appreciate you announcing at the top of the show that Mike Stewart would be on,
- 35:46so I know to turn it off, tex says, Mike. How
- 35:51many actual hours have you built since you've been back in private practice? Says
- 35:55a Texture. Uh, compare records, ask Mike. I filed for another
- 36:00office before he ever made a vote in the state Senate. He has zero
- 36:04trial experience. Was a laughing stock of the US Attorney's office. He's nauseating,
- 36:08according to a Texter, why did Mike Stewart vote against Peia reform after
- 36:13it had been discussed for several months and it's costing taxpayers tons of money to
- 36:16subsidize a government run health care plan? Another thing I've wanted for everyone.
- 36:22If a jury of his peers finds Donald Trump guilty, what do people do?
- 36:27According to a text Texas says. Yesterday, Mike Stewart tweeted that he
- 36:30enjoyed speaking to the cabal Chamber and posted an article, but it was an
- 36:34event from five years ago. Loved to know why he's posting five year old
- 36:37stories and passing passing them off like their new content. Tex says, Mike
- 36:43didn't say one thing there about how it affects West Virginia. I think he's
- 36:49talking about immigration. We could actually use some of those immigrants here. But
- 36:52the hammer only sees nails. Tex says concealed carry isn't the Second Amendment?
- 37:00Thanks to Stephen Allen, Adams said he would take you more seriously, but
- 37:02for the fact that you're hanging out with Ron Gregory. What about that?
- 37:06According to a Texter, Tick says Mike, the drug problem got worse under
- 37:12your watch. The gun problem got worse under your watch. Trump did executive
- 37:15order and took bump stocks, called gun confiscation. According to a Texture,
- 37:22ask Mike of his idea if it's his idea or someone else, is to
- 37:27use tax funds as pre campaign ads, but putting the name of all US
- 37:30Attorney psays before his pivot to run for office, breaking, says a text
- 37:37Are. Total of more than ten million illegal border crossings in the US have
- 37:40been reported since Joe Biden took office January twenty twenty one, the greatest number
- 37:45in history and of any administration. This is more than the individual populations of
- 37:50forty one states. Official US Customs and Border Protection apprehension data includes just a
- 37:54bunch of numbers. I don't have time to get into all that. This
- 37:58makes the com mind official apprehend the man has got to go talking about Joe
- 38:01Biden. I think I appreciate all the numbers, but I just don't have
- 38:04time to get into all the numbers. Jick says. Mike Stewart is a
- 38:10silk Stockings lawyer, was a veneer of fake populism while exclusively representing big business
- 38:16in the elite constantly sets their traps for the adoration of a rapist. Always
- 38:22get behind a rapist, Mike Stewart twenty twenty three, says a Texter Mike
- 38:24Mike Stewart. If he agrees that VP Kamala Harris can unilially reject Electoral College
- 38:30voters and declare Biden the winner of the twenty twenty four election, tex says,
- 38:36I doubt Stuart paid for it, talking about the trip to the border.
- 38:42If he can actually use campaign cash, he says he paid it himself
- 38:45the trip to the board. He and I think there was three two other
- 38:47state senators from West Virginia that took that trip. Will Mike Stewart tell us
- 38:52his record as a private attorney representing big corporate interest, asked Mike Stewart,
- 38:57when will he go after AEP and it's support for transgender or whatever bigotry that
- 39:00he was talking abouts. I feel like this entire coming to election is a
- 39:10choice between a pile and a steaming pile. I guess which category job abandoner
- 39:15Mike Stewart falls into. The only thing Mike fights for his air since his
- 39:21head is so far up his rear ouch Texas. Is interesting that Stewart says
- 39:29he doesn't listen to lobbyists when he just got back from a paid trip by
- 39:31one texter says, Dear Dave, when you hear the new show open and
- 39:37then announcer gets into the Dave Allen Show part, do you look up at
- 39:39your autograph picture of Tony Romo and whisper I made it. I finally made
- 39:45it. Since the text uh the Dave Aland Show has brought to you partly

- 40:12dot us. All right, so the last so last week, how need
- 40:15some Mayor? Steve Williams said he will run for governor of West Virginia the
- 40:20Democratic ticket. Now, he had announced it on Labor Day at the annual
- 40:24Labor Day picnic and racine. But last week he filed the pre candidacy papers
- 40:30with the West Virginia Secretary of State's office. Now, someone asked me over
- 40:34the weekend what I thought of Steve williams chances of being governor of West Virginia,
- 40:39And uh, the answer to that again, not a journalist, as
- 40:45Mike Stewart pointed out, not a journalist, just an opinion. Nor,
- 40:47if you will, with all due respect to Steve Williams, slim to none,
- 40:53slim to none, because I just don't see West Virginia electing a Democrat
- 41:00to be governor or any other constitutional office at this time. I will say
- 41:07I think that Mayor Williams is a good choice by the Democrats. He tends
- 41:13to be a little bit more moderate and a little a little bit more like
- 41:16the West Virginia dims of old. He's not Steven Smith type. With all
- 41:22due respect to Steven Smith, of course. You know, I didn't see
- 41:27Ben Selango as being that extreme either, but he never really had a chance
- 41:30in twenty twenty. And Steve Williams is an interesting story. He's a former
- 41:34member of the House and he's had a lot of real world success in the
- 41:37world of business, which could appeal to the more business like members of the
- 41:45electorate. And I will say this about Steve Williams. He has really done
- 41:50some great things in Huntington. Huntington was on the verge of utter collapse when
- 41:55Steve Williams took over as mayor. I mean, the city couldn't the bills
- 42:00and they were facing This is not an exaggeration. They were facing ruin until
- 42:07Williams got there. Huntington is thriving now, of course, having a bursting
- 42:14at the seams Marshall University doesn't hurt. And you know, I'm in a
- 42:19Huntington like once a week or so, and not just for Marshall things.
- 42:22But I can tell you this, the Huntington of twenty twenty three is nothing
- 42:29at all like the Huntington of thirty three years ago, when I was beginning
- 42:34as a student at Marshall University already wasn't even the Huntington of the nineties or
- 42:37the early to mid two thousands. Point blank is Steve Williams has done an
- 42:43incredible job with that city. Now that having been said, I was asked
- 42:50recently what Steve Williams could do to even have a shot to win the governorship
- 42:58of West Virginia. I you know, I don't pretend to have all the
- 43:01answers. If I did, I wouldn't be sitting behind this microphone right now.
- 43:05I'd be doing political consulting. But there are a few things that I
- 43:10think that Steve Williams could do. And if you're listening, Mayor Williams,
- 43:15you can take note this is I'm not I won't even send you a bill
- 43:19for Steve Williams, you know, doesn't need me to tell him how to
- 43:23run his campaign, but I do feel that some of what I'm about to
- 43:28say could be of use to him. First of all, he has has
- 43:32has all capital letters. Has to distance himself from the Democratic Party on the
- 43:38national level. He needs to come out, point blank, point blank and
- 43:45say, do not time me to President Joe Biden, do not time me
- 43:50to Chuck Schumer, AOC Pelosi or anyone else that's on the national front that
- 43:53West Virginia's identify with the national Democratic Party. That's for starters. He needs
- 44:00to not speak negatively or even speak at all against former President Trump. I
- 44:09mean, if he's asked a question, skirt it, change the subject,
- 44:14do whatever, because like it or not. And I'm certainly you know Stewart
- 44:20even pointed it out there. I'm not a Trump supporter, I was not
- 44:23now, but speaking against President Trump, I'm also not running for office.
- 44:29Speaking against President Trump is political suicide in West Virginia. So in short,
- 44:36I think that Steve Williams needs to become a West Virginia Democrat of old and
- 44:42I don't know that he can do that if he wants support outside of West
- 44:46Virginia. And make no mistake about it, as any of the candidates for
- 44:51governor on the Republican side will tell you, and anybody that's run for a
- 44:53state wide office or Senate or whatever over the last ten, fifteen, twenty
- 44:59years or so, we'll tell you outside support is crucial to get intelected.
- 45:05I mean, I hate it, but that's just the way it is.
- 45:10And as for how I think Steve Williams will do, I think it depends
- 45:15on who the Republican nominee is. I think if he faces Patrick Morrissey,
- 45:20hear me out on this, I think his chances are much better than if
- 45:23he faces one of the other three major Republican candidates. With all due respect
- 45:30to Attorney General Patrick Morrissey, he's not seen by a lot of people as
- 45:34a very likable person. He comes across sometimes as being a very angry little
- 45:37man. Most Republicans that I know think he's done a fantastic job as AG,
- 45:45but they don't really care for him now much personally, And knowing mister
- 45:51Morrissey like I do, I don't think he really cares. I think he
- 45:52might wear that as a badge of honor. To be honest with you,
- 45:57I mean, you got to ask you quite self a question, would you
- 45:59rather have a beer or go issue with Morrisey or Williams. If it's a
- 46:02battle with mayor Williams facing Capito, Warner or Miller, I think it's a
- 46:07better matchup for one of them. You know, Williams is always smiling and
- 46:09always seems to be in a good mood, not angry all the time,
- 46:13as as Patrick Morrissey is. You know, Warner, Capitol, Miller.
- 46:16They can all smile and joke. And I know all three of them and
- 46:20work for one of them for four years. They're capable of, I think,
- 46:22maybe relating more to the common people. And it's something that quite frankly,
- 46:27again, with all due respect to Patrick Morrissey, I think he lacks
- 46:30so if I'm Steve Williams, I denounced the National Democratic Party, maybe even
- 46:35the State Party. Distance yourself a little bit from the State Party too.
- 46:38Now, I don't know whether he's actually going to do any of these things
- 46:40or not. That's just kind of the path I see for it. That's
- 46:44that's just me. Dave Allan Show has brought you a part by Hustan's Pizza

- 49:13Teke says the reason Morrisy could lose is because he has a personality with that
- 49:15rock. According to a Texan, not my words, Not my words.
- 49:19So I've been watching this story out of Mond County mainly because it addresses an
- 49:22issue that we hear in Charleston and some other areas in the Canawa Valley face
- 49:27as well. Mike Nolting has a story posted at WV Metronews dot com and
- 49:30it has to do with panhandling. Uh. They're calling it the Montagelia County
- 49:36Pedestrian and Vehicle Safety Ordnance. And as Mike Stewart, Mike's story, not
- 49:42Mike Stewart, My story points out, the whole thing started with complaints from
- 49:45the public about solicitation near retail areas that have made some people feel unsafe and
- 49:51was creating traffic concerns. Now, Mon County commission Jeff Arnett says the commission
- 49:55was acting on safety concerns from residents there. Arnett goes on to say that
- 50:00services are available for those who want and need them. Sound familiar, They're
- 50:07available and sometimes unused here in Charleston as well. The Mond County Commission,
- 50:10according to Mike's story and from my Commissioner Arnett, gave about one point four
- 50:15million dollars annually to the programs that I mentioned earlier. And it's simply a
- 50:22safety issue according to Commissioner Arnett there, and I would agree. Now Hoppy
- 50:28talks about that in his commentary which is posted today. Now nowque the people
- 50:31saying it's poor shaming and it's a first First Amendment issue and one of the
- 50:37that's already happened. One of the groups in Mike's story is Mountain State Justice,
- 50:40which is a nonprofit group. Their attorney, quoted in the Notlting story,
- 50:45is saying, quote the act of asking for money is a First Amendment
- 50:47right in quotes, and that they will be closely monitoring the implementation of this
- 50:53ordinance. Now, on the first offense, police would take the name of
- 50:57the person and give them a list of service that are available in the area.
- 51:00Continuing violations could result in fines of one hundred dollars every time. Now,
- 51:06as Hobpy pointed out correctly and it's commentary this morning, in order to
- 51:08make this work, they got to crack down on all public banking. And
- 51:14that's what it is, whether it's the homeless, Little League teams, volunteer
- 51:17fire departments, et cetera. I personally have no issue with cracking down on
- 51:22it. You know, I don't see it as much in Charleston, but
- 51:25in some smaller towns that I travel to from time to time, if it's
- 51:30a pretty Saturday, there's going to be somebody standing in an intersection with a
- 51:34bucket out. Whether it's all all for great causes, don't get me wrong.
- 51:37From Little leagues, to scouts, to volunteer fire departments and so on
- 51:40and so forth. But it's a safety hazard. I mean, it really
- 51:44really is. Now in Charleston, they're more asking. They're saying they're homeless,
- 51:46and they're asking for, you know, for funds for that, and
- 51:51I think I think it sends the wrong message for kids, you know,
- 51:53and for anybody. If you want to do something, to work for it,
- 51:57you wash a car. And I will say for Ralston, it's not
- 52:00too good of a look. When you pulled into Charleston, the first thing
- 52:01you see is someone holding a cardboard sign asking for money when literally everyone around
- 52:07you is hiring. But that's another story. Go check out Mike's story on
- 52:09the website. The Dave Allen Show has brought to you in parted by Pinnacle
