On the Royal Priesthood and Human Image of God
One of the themes of my preaching and teaching that I emphasize is how God makes the human being. This comes directly from Scripture, in Genesis chapter 1, on the sixth day of creation, we have the words: “God said, ‘Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” Here God begins the project of making man, of making, in fact, the human image of God. Saint Paul calls this making in Genesis 1 “the first Adam.” That word “adam” means both a singular male, and it means all of humanity as such.
