  Back with Gino on this Friday night. There is hockey tonight if you're in

  the area or on nesson Cavs Boys final weekend of the first semester. They

  take on UMass Low at Cascano. I'm gonna head over there tonight watch them

  and maybe it won't be a jinx tonight, but we will not be easy.

  And then it's at Maine on Sunday with Gino here on this Friday night,

  you were talking I guess it was the Maryland game maybe or maybe with

  the media before you went on the trip about three point shooting. You went

  about twenty five per game. Interesting number, and we know how good traditionally

  your program is twenty four of the last twenty five games, no double digit

  threes, just one game and that was Dayton. That's hard to believe.

  But then you consider who's been out and who hasn't it kind of makes sense.

  You mean double digit and attempts or makes no it makes makes oh yeah,

  yeah, yeah, Well to your point, you know, UCLA may

  twelve of them, right, and Kicky Rice that made four in the previous

  four or five games combined, and she made how many three? Maybe four?

  Early yeah, early Osborn went off all right, and then you got

  another kid who hadn't made any so you you you throw your hands up and

  say, okay, you played the percentages and and it against you. So

  yeah, I want I go. I went into this season thinking we want

  to take twenty five minimum, and then all of a sudden you look up

  and you lost two kids that would each take about eight of them each.

  So that's about sixteen that are gone, and they have to be replaced,

  and same thing, you know. That's that's something that uh, our other

  guys have to grow into and on the road road, you know, uh,

  in tight games, that's not exactly how you grow into it, you

  know. So that's and it doesn't get any easier to Sunday, and don't

  get any easier next week or the week after that. So it's growing up

  in a you know, in a tough environment. And but I have confidence

  in these guys and and I think they will all right, Speaking of your

  three youngsters, what have you thought of their play so far? I mean,

  yes, they've been ups and downs, you expect that, but overall,

  what are your thoughts on Ashland, Cadence and the KKs play so far
• 2:50
  inconsistent. You know, it's been hard to get a feel for this is

  who I'm going to be the entire time. They each have moments where they
• 3:07
  look like they've they've got the right idea and they've got a pretty good sense
• 3:14
  of what they're doing and where they're going, and then all of a sudden,

  you know, it looks really really really bad. So somewhere along the

  line there there's going to have to be some some middle ground where we're not
• 3:32
  necessarily great, but we're not awful either. So if we can get to

  that middle where you know, every night we're going to get a pretty solid
• 3:42
  performance from from these guys, and I think that'll go a long way.

  But you know, for Ice to go down there and play two games and

  play the way she played in those two games, I mean that's pointless.

  You know. You know, Ash will look you know, really really really

  good, and then she'll look tentative and won't won't look anything like the kid

  would recruit it, and you know, Q will go out there and you

  know, knock in a couple like she did Nancy State, you know,

  make them you know look like hey, let and then come out in airball.

  Three of them you know. So those are the ups and downs of

  of what your first year in college looks like. And unfortunately, if we

  had all the guys that we normally would have, we could handle all those

  ups and downs. They would just be you know, we pream on top

  of a nice Sunday right. Instead, now they've got to be part of

  the main ingredient, and it's it's not easy, not easy at all.

  Big week for coming up, and we'll get into that in the next segment.

  But twenty eight assists, eight turnovers they've come to the last four games.

  But the numbers that you saw on Saturday, six points, seven boards,

  a season high, six assists. You get that number pretty much every

  night, those three numbers every night. It seem like you'd be in pretty

  good shape with what she does. Yeah. Yeah, and she's made a

  couple more shots. She's shooting the ball better than than she has. Yeah.

  I think the the the decision making is always something that I'm always harping

  on her about and getting the ball to the right people. You know,

  she loves to be bound. Yeah, that's been a problem for her Now

  if all of a sudden, you think about, we're gonna get ten or
• 5:48
  twelve points from Nika every night, five six assists, a couple of steals,

  make you know, make the team better. That's all you can ask.

  Really, that that means she's she's doing her job as well as you

  know she can do it. Yeah, and we'll again, we'll talk to

  nik about next week. In fact, we'll even get into a story that

  I heard about the game with ball State coming up in the next segment too.

  One thing I do want to get into Amari to Barry during the stretch

  against UCLA where you made the run late second quarter. You wouldn't see it

  on the stat sheet because there were no stats, but what she did against

  Lauren Vetts wasn't bad and it allowed you to get back in the basketball game

  at that time. No, I agree, I agree. You know,

  there's there's a point where from Amarus, from Maris perspective, I know I

  can, I know I can help this team. And my question to her

  has always been, how tell me how you're going to impact the game.

  And for whatever reason, the the not so great always outweighed the good stuff.

  And now as the game has become very, very physical, and the

  game has become much more who showed every possession the intensity level was higher.

  Everything. You want to be able to say, Okay, that's what I

  want you to do. I want you to go in there and I want

  you to play great defensively, I want you to rebound the ball, okay,

  and I want you to make sure that you know when you come out

  of there. It's probably kind of like the U c l A game,

  you know, where you had you had an impact on the game, you

  had a positive impact on the game. And if we if we know that

  that's what we're going to get, that that's what we can expect, then

  obviously that adds a lot, you know, to what we're trying to do
