- 0:00SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Y'all crapped on my idea.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: I thought it would be the best way to handle this with this now, mind you, these are two friends.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: And the one But how close are they?
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Well, that that that question was going to be answered, but y'all crapped on my idea.
- 0:14SPEAKER_00: I was saying what what should happen since the one mom is going to drop off the other mom's kid, except on Tuesdays where it's a little bit longer, there is, you know, the other the mom asking for the drop off since she's picking up her kid and and figured, well, you know, maybe we'll do it.
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: But on Tuesday she has to work a little bit longer.
- 0:29SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: And then there's a gymnastics thing in there.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: And and and here's the thing is I had I had said, well, since the mother asking didn't come forward first and say, hey, if I give you 50 bucks a week, would you do this for me because my schedule just doesn't juggle the right way?
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: But at least I'm giving you something.
- 0:48SPEAKER_00: No, the mother that's asking said, Well, you come up with the price.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Well, no, you now you're putting me in an awkward situation because I don't want to take advantage of a friend, but I also want something for the time and the energy.
- 1:00SPEAKER_00: I also added to that.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: I think you're going to get sick of it.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: I suggested the mom throw it right back at her and say, Well, why don't you give me a gas card each week?
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: And uh it'll tell you real quick what the value is to this from the mom making the request.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: Especially because Ryan brings up a great point.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: This is a very good point.
- 1:27SPEAKER_01: 20 miles is typically one gallon of gas for most cars, which is like$5 a day or$25 a week in gas usage.
- 1:33SPEAKER_01: You know, though, I feel like you're cutting it low.
- 1:37SPEAKER_01: Because I think that the$50 is also as gas fluctuates and the wear and tear on my car.
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: Because if you get Uber or DoorDash, you're getting all these extra fees.
- 1:51SPEAKER_01: You gotta think of the the the the miles.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Okay, but my Uber driver's not your friend.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: Although I don't wish I know in your case you wish every Uber driver would become your friend.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: You invite him into every party.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: But I'm gonna have to change my oil more because of your kid.
- 2:05SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna have to do my tires more because of your kid.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: There are other factors here, so you have to put put it up to at least 50.
- 2:13SPEAKER_01: Also, uh, the mother should also take account into that she may need help with her child in the future when setting a fee.
- 2:20SPEAKER_01: I said that, and that's why I capped it at 50.
- 2:23SPEAKER_01: Because 50, it really just covers the car stuff.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Not my time, and you're right.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: I know it's only 20 minutes, but I'm gonna get so sick of this because when I get when I get home, I just want to be home.
- 2:33SPEAKER_01: Bra's off! Braw's off.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: Let's unload the dishwasher.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: So let me ask you a theoretical question with all the money exchanging that we're talking about with this here.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: All right, it's two and a half months in.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: I've been doing this, I've been doing it for$50 a week.
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: I'm taking your kid home with me.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: Okay, everything's good.
- 2:51SPEAKER_01: Oh, and then you what are you gonna come in and I gotta me, me, me, me?
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: Every day.
- 2:55SPEAKER_01: Every day, it got to be a good one.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: Either way, but I don't want to entertain you.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: I don't want to have to sit here and chitty chat.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and it may be a very good friend, but there are days, even a very good friend, you just are like, I'm not in the mood today.
- 3:05SPEAKER_01: Oh, Sonya and I do this.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: Sonia and I live a street away from each other.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: So I know when that day is because we both say the same thing.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: I'll leave it on your porch.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: By me saying, I because I had to borrow something the other day, hey, can you leave it on your porch?
- 3:19SPEAKER_01: Is me saying, I don't want a chitty jet.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: Not just not today.
- 3:23SPEAKER_00: Love you law, but not today.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:25SPEAKER_00: So here's the flip, here's the flip to this with the whole charging thing.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: And this is why I come back to throw it at her.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: Say, throw me a gas card, you you grab one.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: I don't want to lay a price on this because one day you will need something from that other mom.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: You're gonna have a doctor's appointment, you're gonna need that mom to watch uh your kid for a little bit.
- 3:46SPEAKER_01: And you should gladly do it because I've been picking up your twerp for the past year.
- 3:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, for money.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Now, for the one time I've asked you, do I have to suddenly pay you for the one time?
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: No, because oh, because that's not a value?
- 3:57SPEAKER_01: Because I'm only really charging you for car stuff.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: The fact that I'm doing it every day, you should do me a one solid.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: I mean, I would think so, but you see the point.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Like, I mean a one-off is not.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: If it was a one-off for Will across the street.
- 4:12SPEAKER_01: Well, that's different.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: I mean like a one-off to like take him to um football.
- 4:18SPEAKER_00: Oh no, that's you just do it.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: Oh, you're just like, whatever.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: It's a one-off.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 4:23SPEAKER_00: But not everybody thinks the way that that like that.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: You know, I mean, if we're sitting here laying in all these charges and fees and stuff like that, it you can't.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna nickel and dime you, but you kind we kinda are.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: Mm-mm.
- 4:36SPEAKER_01: Not for just car stuff.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: All right, if it's just car stuff.
- 4:40SPEAKER_01: That is being a good friend.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: Covering the car.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because you're right.
- 4:44SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: You wouldn't do it one time.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: You know, one time, like let's say this whole pick-up daily thing was going on, wasn't going on.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Let's say this never happened, but your girlfriend called you and said, I'm running late today.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Can you pick Timmy up when you're picking up Johnny?
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: You know, you're not gonna ask for money.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: We actually talked about something kind of similar on the Not For Air podcast not that long ago.
- 5:07SPEAKER_01: There are certain times because I have picked up Sonia's kids before and have taken them to and from work or where whatever they needed to do.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, because we live so close.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: And she must have just been booked that day.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: Oh, she was working.
- 5:21SPEAKER_01: I got off early.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: And there have been times where it's she might charge me less for a butthole waxing or something.
- 5:27SPEAKER_01: There are things that you can do.
- 5:29SPEAKER_01: Or you bring over a pie.
- 5:31SPEAKER_01: I don't know, whatever the case may be.
- 5:33SPEAKER_00: Whatever it is.
- 5:33SPEAKER_01: Whatever it is, you do take care of each other in we in weird ways.
- 5:38SPEAKER_01: Can we agree on one thing?
- 5:39SPEAKER_01: Butthole waxing.
- 5:40SPEAKER_00: Yes, that's exactly what you're God.
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: That Brillo pad's gotta be something.
- 5:45SPEAKER_01: Umbrillo pad!
- 5:47SPEAKER_00: Oh, that's right, there's nothing there.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: Uh let me let me ask you let me ask you this.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: I'm not scraping it back there.
- 5:53SPEAKER_01: Can we uh the first couple days might be stumbly, but here nor there.
- 5:57SPEAKER_00: I I can get your templon pan with no problem.
- 6:01SPEAKER_00: Oh my god.
