• 3:04
Speaker 2: Morning Update and it starts right now. Story number one,
• 3:08
Speaker 2: it is big news. The White House is unveiling a
• 3:11
Speaker 2: new healthcare framework they say will lower costs for all Americans.
• 3:16
Speaker 2: This after the debacle that was exposed during the government
• 3:19
Speaker 2: shutdown of just how much money we are spending to
• 3:23
Speaker 2: subsidize the Affordable Care Act, which is anything but affordable.
• 3:29
Speaker 2: The Trump White House, we're now being told, is expected
• 3:32
Speaker 2: to unveil a healthcare policy framework that not only would
• 3:36
Speaker 2: lower costs, but also extend expiring Obamacare subsidies while they
• 3:41
Speaker 2: figure out how to move forward. MS now and Politico
• 3:45
Speaker 2: reported both that the healthcare policy framework would include a
• 3:49
Speaker 2: two year extension of the expiring enhanced Premium tax credits.
• 3:55
Speaker 2: Those are the subsidies that you're paying for. Yes, so
• 3:57
Speaker 2: Obamacare is not cheap at all. It did not make
• 4:01
Speaker 2: things more affordable at all. In fact, it made the
• 4:04
Speaker 2: healthcare insurance providers rich at the expense of you, the
• 4:09
Speaker 2: tax payer. We also know that they will be enhanced
• 4:12
Speaker 2: Obamacare subsidies, which would otherwise expire at the end of
• 4:16
Speaker 2: the year. The proposal could be unveiled as early as
• 4:19
Speaker 2: this coming Monday. A White House spokesman declined to confirm
• 4:23
Speaker 2: the details of the plan, stating, quote, until President Trump
• 4:27
Speaker 2: makes an announcement himself, any reporting about the administration's healthcare
• 4:31
Speaker 2: positions is mere speculation. But here's what we are learning
• 4:35
Speaker 2: through background. The plan apparently with lower limits on income
• 4:39
Speaker 2: eligibility for credits, and that would save American taxpayers a
• 4:43
Speaker 2: significant amount of money. It would also, i'm being told,
• 4:47
Speaker 2: set minimum premium payments as well. According to multiple reports,
• 4:52
Speaker 2: the proposed eligibility cap would set the subsidies to seven
• 4:56
Speaker 2: hundred percent of the federal poverty line. Republicans have complained
• 5:01
Speaker 2: that with the Colone Obama here in hand subseas scheme.
• 5:04
Speaker 2: Wealthy Americans would benefit from the subseason what was meant
• 5:08
Speaker 2: to be only temporary. Why were they temporary? It was
• 5:12
Speaker 2: during the COVID nineteen coronavirus outbreak when they had these
• 5:16
Speaker 2: extra benefits that now Democrats want to make well lasts forever,
• 5:21
Speaker 2: which is insane. The White House plan also would urge
• 5:25
Speaker 2: Congress to fund cost sharing reductions and plans, which Republicans
• 5:31
Speaker 2: pushed for in the Big Beautiful Bill, but were next
• 5:34
Speaker 2: after Senate Democrats objected to its inclusion in Trump's landmark legislation,
• 5:39
Speaker 2: believing it violated rules on budgetary reconciliation. They claimed, Now
• 5:44
Speaker 2: here's the other part that's very interesting about this. The
• 5:47
Speaker 2: Congressional Budget Office found that these healthcare reforms would have
• 5:52
Speaker 2: lowered healthcare premiums by twelve point seven percent and reduced
• 5:57
Speaker 2: costs by decreasing the need for Obamacare and the welfare
• 6:02
Speaker 2: of the government for the epcts known as the subsidies
• 6:06
Speaker 2: for Obamacare. The plans would have also lowered the costs
• 6:10
Speaker 2: if this CRS plan would have been put into effect
• 6:13
Speaker 2: by thirty point eight billion dollars. Now that's literally thirty
• 6:18
Speaker 2: point eight billion dollars. It would have saved you the
• 6:20
Speaker 2: tax payer, and that is exactly why Democrats were against it. Now,
• 6:25
Speaker 2: the Trump proposal would also have part of their tax
• 6:28
Speaker 2: credits go straight to Americans via tax advantage savings accounts
• 6:33
Speaker 2: instead of the checks going directly to healthcare insurance companies
• 6:37
Speaker 2: that are getting rich to lower America's premium indirectly. The
• 6:41
Speaker 2: President probably would like to go bigger than the Hill
• 6:44
Speaker 2: has the appetite for, so we'll have to see how that.
• 6:48
Speaker 2: You know, how it works out, is what the White
• 6:51
Speaker 2: House Reptchieve of Staff James Blair said last week talking
• 6:55
Speaker 2: about the reforms that need to be made. What we
• 6:58
Speaker 2: also know is the White HOUSEPG staff saying that President
• 7:01
Speaker 2: Trump would love to push for healthcare reform in a
• 7:04
Speaker 2: way that would be meaningful, saying, quote, we're going to
• 7:07
Speaker 2: have to have the healthcare conversation. We're going to put
• 7:11
Speaker 2: some legislation forward. The debuie chiefs said there could be
• 7:15
Speaker 2: interest in bi Parson reform. However, he said if that
• 7:18
Speaker 2: path is foreclosed, there is the Parson path of reconciliation
• 7:22
Speaker 2: as well. The President probably would like to go big
• 7:25
Speaker 2: because there needs to be big reforms. Republican lawmakers have
• 7:29
Speaker 2: said they believe the right House will release a framework
• 7:32
Speaker 2: to lower health insurance costs, expand health savings accounts, and
• 7:36
Speaker 2: scrap parts of the Affordable Care Act that are just
• 7:39
Speaker 2: flat out unsustainable. In fact, much of the Obamacare program
• 7:43
Speaker 2: is unsustainable without record tax dollars going to prop it up.
• 7:49
Speaker 2: As I mentioned earlier, there's nothing affordable about the Affordable
• 7:53
Speaker 2: Care Act now. The White House also signaled that the
• 7:55
Speaker 2: President's interest in healthcare reform is something he believes could
• 7:59
Speaker 2: be a US some change for the American people. A
• 8:03
Speaker 2: slide deck shared by the House Majority leaders Stief Scalise
• 8:06
Speaker 2: this last week made it clear that House GOP leadership
• 8:10
Speaker 2: also falls in the overhaul camp. One slide that was
• 8:14
Speaker 2: viewed by Politico was titled the Unaffordable Care Act and
• 8:17
Speaker 2: highlighted statistics that show the premiums have increased by eighty
• 8:21
Speaker 2: percent since the ACA passage aka since Obamacare became law.
• 8:27
Speaker 2: It also claimed that more than fifty percent of Obamacare
• 8:30
Speaker 2: and rollees did not file a single claim this year.
• 8:36
Speaker 2: Walking into the meeting school, he said in a brief
• 8:38
Speaker 2: interview that he planned to keep talking with the chairs
• 8:41
Speaker 2: of three key committees of jurisdiction over health policy. That
• 8:45
Speaker 2: would be ways and means, Energy and commerce, education and
• 8:49
Speaker 2: the workforce. Now, healthcare became a focal point in the
• 8:52
Speaker 2: national politics as Democrats shut the government down, as I
• 8:55
Speaker 2: mentioned earlier for weeks over what they described as mandatory
• 8:59
Speaker 2: Obamacare subsidies. They were not mandatory. They were enhanced during COVID,
• 9:04
Speaker 2: and they will expire on purpose. The Democrats planned this
• 9:07
Speaker 2: way at the end of the year. Democrats first enhance
• 9:10
Speaker 2: these subsis through one point nine trillion let me say
• 9:14
Speaker 2: that again, one point nine trillion in coronavirus era stimulus plans,
• 9:20
Speaker 2: including the American Rescue Plan. They continue the subsease through
• 9:24
Speaker 2: the end of twenty twenty five with the so called
• 9:26
Speaker 2: Inflation Reduction Act that did anything but that. Trump weighed
• 9:30
Speaker 2: in on the issue, stating that healthcare dollars should go
• 9:33
Speaker 2: directly to the American people instead of through subsidies to
• 9:37
Speaker 2: health insurance companies, saying it this way on social media, quote,
• 9:41
Speaker 2: the only healthcare I will support or approve is sending
• 9:44
Speaker 2: the money directly back to the people, with nothing going
• 9:48
Speaker 2: to the big, fat rich insurance companies who have made
• 9:52
Speaker 2: trillions and ripped off America long enough, the people will
• 9:56
Speaker 2: be allowed to negotiate and by their own much better insurance.
• 10:01
Speaker 2: Power to the people, Congress, do not waste your time
• 10:06
Speaker 2: and energy on anything else. This is the only way
• 10:09
Speaker 2: to have great healthcare in America. The Republican Set of
• 10:13
Speaker 2: Community chairman said that a second reconciliation bill should address affordability,
• 10:18
Speaker 2: which should include healthcare reform, saying the Democrats are incapable
• 10:23
Speaker 2: of coming up with a plan that is competitive, transparent,
• 10:27
Speaker 2: and actually reduces costs wine because they're lining the pockets
• 10:31
Speaker 2: of their friends in the healthcare provider industry, and they
• 10:35
Speaker 2: know that as long as the government's willing to send
• 10:38
Speaker 2: them the check, they get rich every single time the
• 10:41
Speaker 2: money comes into their accounts. This also just goes back
• 10:45
Speaker 2: to consumer choice and freedom. President believes that you, as
• 10:49
Speaker 2: an American deserve to have your money and then you
• 10:51
Speaker 2: can put it to work the way that you decide
• 10:54
Speaker 2: to do it, in a more responsible manner than the
• 10:56
Speaker 2: corruption of the government. Doctor Mark Siegel on Fox News
• 10:59
Speaker 2: Channel talking about exactly this, and here is what he
• 11:02
Speaker 2: had to say on Fox News Sunday.
• 11:05
Speaker 4: But I can't get your treatments.
• 11:07
Speaker 1: What about this idea that the President has floated about
• 11:09
Speaker 1: the money that flows into a lot of these subsidies,
• 11:11
Speaker 1: instead of paying the insurance companies, going direct to the
• 11:14
Speaker 1: consumer and letting them take the money with them where
• 11:16
  Speaker 1: they choose.
• 11:17
Speaker 4: He's gotten a lot of criticism for that, but he's
• 11:19
Speaker 4: on the right track because it would give the consumer
• 11:22
Speaker 4: more control of the situation. Health savings accounts are part
• 11:25
Speaker 4: of this, being able to buy your own insurance, making
• 11:28
Speaker 4: it affordable, and you choose a marketplace idea more. It's
• 11:32
Speaker 4: not quite that simple. That's a huge step in the
• 11:34
  Speaker 4: right direction.
• 11:35
Speaker 1: Well, what are your odds?
• 11:37
Speaker 2: Do you so? At the end of the day, there
• 11:38
Speaker 2: are two options. Either you as an American, say no, no,
• 11:41
Speaker 2: no government, just be in charge of my life. Doesn't
• 11:44
Speaker 2: matter how much it costs, Just you be in charge
• 11:46
Speaker 2: of my health care. Or there's the Donald Trump plan,
• 11:49
Speaker 2: which is he believes that you, as an American, should
• 11:51
Speaker 2: decide what is best for you, that you should spend
• 11:54
Speaker 2: your money in a way that is well more responsible
• 11:57
Speaker 2: than what the government does each and every day, and
• 12:00
Speaker 2: he believes that prices will lower significantly if you do
• 12:04
Speaker 2: it that way. I think many Americans have made it
• 12:06
Speaker 2: clear they like the way the President is describing this
• 12:10
Speaker 2: the amount of corruption that we are witnessing from those
• 12:13
Speaker 2: in the Democratic Party and in government who are overspending
• 12:16
Speaker 2: your tax tours and what are you actually getting in return?
• 12:20
Speaker 2: Not a lot for your money. And that's where we
• 12:22
  Speaker 2: are today.
