- 0:003 lifelong friends, 6 trusty balls and endless NFL takes.
- 0:05Welcome to three guys 6 Balls NFL podcast.
- 0:08Welcome to episode 56 of Three guys 6 balls NFL podcast.
- 0:11I'm your host Joel and I'm here with my Co host Will Avery isn't
- 0:14joining us once again, but not because of his girlfriend's
- 0:17friend or because of work this time.
- 0:19This time it's because his family is in town, which is
- 0:21probably the worst excuse of them all.
- 0:24So once again, it's just Will and I.
- 0:26And today we'll be doing mostly scouting reports for you guys.
- 0:30The only thing that I have that isn't NFL Draft related is a
- 0:33question that I thought of this week that I thought would be
- 0:35interesting to talk about. So my question is, why do fans
- 0:39of the Super Bowl winning team automatically think their team
- 0:42is going to repeat every single year?
- 0:45And the reason I ask this question is because right now
- 0:47Seahawks fans are everywhere already thinking that they're
- 0:50repeating next season. We saw the same thing last year
- 0:52with Eagles fans, except theirs was worse because they said they
- 0:55were not only repeating but also three peating.
- 0:57There's only been nine times in NFL history that a team has
- 1:00repeated as Super Bowl champions.
- 1:02That is 15% of the time. So based on how the 1st 60 Super
- 1:06Bowls went, there's an 85% chance that the reigning Super
- 1:09Bowl champion each year won't repeat the next.
- 1:12But fans still think it anyway. So Will, I'm curious to know
- 1:15your opinion on this. Why do you think that is?
- 1:17Why do fans of the Super Bowl winning team always think that
- 1:20they're repeating the next season?
- 1:23Well, let's let's breakdown what you kind of said there.
- 1:25You threw in some numbers and stats and truly, and I don't
- 1:28mean to to just go against everything you just said, but
- 1:31they don't matter when you're talking to fandoms and they.
- 1:35Do. They they don't in this case
- 1:40they don't because you either have you have a 5050 shot,
- 1:44either you do or you don't win, right?
- 1:46That's just the way the season starts.
- 1:47Well. It's one out of 32 teams that
- 1:50win, so it's. There's there's two options.
- 1:53There is two options here. You win the Super Bowl or you
- 1:55don't and we have two options. It's 5050.
- 1:59Yes, but only one out of 32 teams wins, so it's.
- 2:01Not yes, but either you do or you don't.
- 2:04So 5050 OK. And when, when you think, when
- 2:10your team just won it, no matter what's happened during freedom,
- 2:13so no matter what's happened at all, you think you are on the
- 2:16good side of this 5050. OK, now obviously I know it's
- 2:21not a true 5050, but you, there are two options.
- 2:24You win it or you don't. And so you're trying to throw
- 2:26statistics and numbers and historical data into a non
- 2:31logical arguments. And that's the problem is that
- 2:34you're making a logical argument out of a non logical argument
- 2:37where it's my team's going to win again because they just won.
- 2:40We're already sitting at the top of the top best of the best.
- 2:44Of course we're going to do it again.
- 2:45We did. Somebody has to prove us wrong.
- 2:47And so you go in with the prove us wrong attitude, which is to
- 2:50me how you should do it. If you just won, you should have
- 2:53the expectation. Of course we're going to win
- 2:55again. We think we're going to win
- 2:56every year and obviously we just did.
- 2:58So of course we can do it twice. The problem is, is that's just
- 3:01not how the NFL works. Every year your team is
- 3:04different. You have different players, you
- 3:06have different coaches, you have different teams that you play.
- 3:09The ball bounces a different way than it did last year.
- 3:11There were injuries this year that you didn't have last year.
- 3:13But every year fans think that it's going to be the exact same
- 3:17result. And sometimes it is.
- 3:19Obviously repeats can and do happen, but there's more to it
- 3:22than we won it last year, so we're going to win it again.
- 3:25There's more to it than that. And you can also make the same
- 3:27argument for the entire NFL in general.
- 3:29It truly bothers me that because the NFL played out how did last
- 3:34year that everyone thinks it's going to be the exact same way
- 3:37this year. You have no idea how many times
- 3:40I've heard people do playoff predictions for next season
- 3:43already and have every single team who made it this last year
- 3:46making it again this coming year.
- 3:48Unless you're The Jets, there's a chance that your team could
- 3:51make the playoffs if they didn't make it last year.
- 3:53I mean, even the Browns have made the playoffs within the
- 3:55last three years. I don't know if the Dolphins had
- 3:58much of a chance this year. Well, I just threw The Jets in
- 4:01there because they haven't made the playoffs in like 15 years.
- 4:04At least the Dolphins have made the playoffs within the last
- 4:06five seasons. That's fair.
- 4:08So that's why anyway, I just wanted to bring it up because
- 4:12the delusional Seahawks fans are out hard right now.
- 4:15And I know we have a lot of Seahawks fans who listen to this
- 4:17show and you guys, you won the Super Bowl, that's awesome.
- 4:21But I don't want to make enemies with you guys like I had to do
- 4:24with Eagles fans last year. I will gladly make an enemy of
- 4:27any Eagles fan, regardless of if they listen to the show or not.
- 4:30But Seahawks fans, I actually don't hate you guys.
- 4:33I kind of like you guys, but you're starting to annoy me a
- 4:36little bit, I'm not going to lie.
- 4:37But at the same time, Joel, I would expect nothing less.
- 4:41My team just won the Super Bowl. What else am I supposed to think
- 4:44besides of course we're going back.
- 4:46Of course we start the same coach, we start the same
- 4:49quarterback. Yeah, great.
- 4:51We we know how to do it. We have the recipe to do it.
- 4:54Just make it again. So I would be more concerned for
- 4:59Seahawks fans and the Seahawks in general if the fans were
- 5:02like, yeah, we it was a one time thing.
- 5:05It's over. It's not why you can Tampa Bay
- 5:07when Brady retired and say, well, we want it, Brady retired.
- 5:11We don't have the same recipe anymore.
- 5:13We don't have the same quarterback leading us.
- 5:16He didn't. He didn't retire the year after
- 5:18they won the Super Bowl, though, so.
- 5:20Yes, you're right, you're right. But the expectation after he won
- 5:23it that one year was it we're we still have Brady, we're doing it
- 5:26again. Same thing in Denver with Peyton
- 5:28Manning. They went, didn't happen, they
- 5:31didn't go and then they won. And people forget Peyton Manning
- 5:34got benched for Brock Hoss rider that year, but it was if he's
- 5:37coming back, if the sheriff is back in town, we're going again.
- 5:40And then he retired. He was like, OK, well, we're
- 5:42not. We're not doing it.
- 5:44And so unless there's a major change and like in major, I
- 5:47specifically mean quarterback, then the fan expectation is that
- 5:52you are going to return to the Super Bowl.
- 5:54OK, so what's what do you think is worse Will do you think it's
- 5:57worse that the team that won the Super Bowl, their fans think
- 6:01that they're going to win it again next year?
- 6:02Or is it worse in like in the case of Packers fans?
- 6:06Packers fans think that they're going to win the Super Bowl
- 6:08every single year since 2010 because they won it in 2010.
- 6:13Every single year since then, Packers fans think they're
- 6:16winning the Super Bowl. So what's worse?
- 6:17Oh, it's worse to hold on to that hope of we're going to win
- 6:21it again. And every team does this, right?
- 6:24I mean, even like as as a Rams fan, I was like, well, we've got
- 6:27matched efforts still. We won in 21.
- 6:30I feel like we can do it again, right?
- 6:32Like let's just go do it again. And so it it's almost expected.
- 6:37But in, in what I just said, they still have their same
- 6:40quarterback. They still have their same
- 6:42coach. Packers in 2010.
- 6:44You know, you're yeah, yeah, I said you're today 1/3 head
- 6:46coach, but you're just second head coach, second head coach on
- 6:49you are your second quarterback on you.
- 6:51You're not the same. You don't have the same recipe
- 6:54anymore. You're making a different cake
- 6:56at this point, and so it is that is crazier.
- 7:00That's The thing is like they thought they were going to win
- 7:02it every year that they had Rodgers.
- 7:04And then they drafted Jordan Love and he sat behind Rodgers
- 7:07and they thought they were going to win the Super Bowl every year
- 7:09with Rodgers. And then as soon as Rodgers was
- 7:11gone and Jordan Love stepped in, they're like, Yep, we're winning
- 7:13the Super Bowl. We got Jordan Love.
- 7:14He's we're winning the Super Bowl every single year.
- 7:17And and they still think that, even though the only playoff win
- 7:20that Jordan Love has is against the Dallas Cowboys.
- 7:23Well, and they ran the ball over the place that game.
- 7:25I don't know what his Jordan Love stats were, but he didn't
- 7:27have to do much. He had like over 200 rushing in
- 7:29the game. He did it.
- 7:31I just don't know how you can have a quarterback who has a one
- 7:33in three playoff record and the one win is against the Cowboys,
- 7:36but yet you still think that you're going to win the Super
- 7:38Bowl every single. Year, I mean, Lamar Jackson,
- 7:41that's what I went about with him.
- 7:43The raging expect to make the Super Bowl and them not making
- 7:46it to the playoffs this year was a shock and they expect to make
- 7:50the Super Bowl every year. Well, we've got Lamar, same
- 7:52thing with Buffalo. We've got Josh Allen.
- 7:55Of course we're making it. Chiefs fans, Patrick Mahomes
- 7:58coming off his ACL Achilles. I don't know what part of his, I
- 8:01don't remember what part of his knee went wrong or leg went
- 8:03wrong, but coming off his injury, the Chiefs are heavily
- 8:06favored to win. The dude is just now starting
- 8:10his full on recovery. And I, I get it's March, Super
- 8:13Bowl is not until February next year, but it's just one of
- 8:16these, hey, maybe we should have reasonable exploitation.
- 8:19But again, now we're talking logical arguments in illogical
- 8:23circumstances. At least Patrick Mahomes has won
- 8:26a Super Bowl. OK, It's it's different.
- 8:28It's different when you're talking about Patrick Mahomes
- 8:30versus Jordan Love, because Patrick Mahomes has won three
- 8:33Super Bowls. It's a little bit different.
- 8:34But Speaking of Patrick Mahomes, have you seen the glaze that's
- 8:38been going around with him? Because he's on the field
- 8:40walking very slowly backwards and throwing the pass?
- 8:43Yeah, it it notably from fan of the show and one time on the
- 8:48show, twice on the show. Lincoln Cook sent us that
- 8:51Instagram about fantasy quarterbacks where Mahomes is
- 8:55like the the top rated famous quarterback and he's like, oh,
- 8:58this is absolutely correct. Does anybody not agree with
- 9:00this? And I had to be like, I
- 9:02absolutely don't agree with this.
- 9:04This is absolutely bonkers. There's no way this is going to
- 9:07happen. That way, shout out Lincoln.
- 9:10Yeah, honestly, I I've, I've never seen a team and she she
- 9:15used that word. I've never seen a team Glaze or
- 9:18fandom Glaze a quarterback harder than she's Glaze, Patrick
- 9:21Mahomes and I'm I'm sure. It's not even the fans.
- 9:24It's not even the, I mean, it is the fans, but it's the
- 9:27announcers. It's the NFL.
- 9:28You're right, you're right. It's because he's the face of
- 9:30the NFL, because he was that young new hotshot that came in
- 9:33and took the took the NFL by storm and and they just kind of
- 9:36keep riding it. Anyways, I just wanted to bring
- 9:38that up because I thought it was interesting.
- 9:40It would be worse to me if they weren't doing that personally.
- 9:43OK, that's fair. All right, so the 2026 NFL Draft
- 9:46is less than a month away. And so today we have 6 players
- 9:50on the list. And again, we're kind of jumping
- 9:52around here because ESPN keeps switching up their list on us.
- 9:55So we're going to go through the six players that we have on the
- 9:57list, starting with Clemson edge TJ Parker, who is currently
- 10:01ranked 17th on the ESPN Top 50 Big Board.
- 10:05So I have a question to start off here with TJ Parker.
- 10:07So in 2024, TJ Parker had a really good statistical year
- 10:11with 57 tackles, 11 sacks, and six force fumbles.
- 10:14But then his numbers fell off in 2025, dropping down to 37
- 10:18tackles, 5 sacks, and 0 force fumbles.
- 10:20What do you think is the reason for his production dip in 2025?
- 10:25I mean, it could be a series of things, right?
- 10:27Like when you do well, you get double T more you, people focus
- 10:30on you more. And so the better you play, the
- 10:32more focus you get. And so then your production
- 10:34drops because of that. Hey, we're stopping this guy
- 10:37specifically. And so that has an element to do
- 10:40with it. Or I don't say complacency,
- 10:42anything, anything. Any of these guys in knowledge
- 10:44get complacent with their stats or with their abilities or
- 10:47anything like that. It could just be like, I don't
- 10:49know, I don't know much about Clemson's coaching staff or
- 10:52roster or if they made any defensive scheme changes,
- 10:55anything like that. The scheme could be could have
- 10:57been wrong for TJ Parker's skill set and so they.
- 11:00Did have a new defensive coordinator in 2025.
- 11:03That was actually one of the things that I brought up too.
- 11:05So in 2023 he had the same coordinator as in 2024 and he
- 11:09took a leap from 2023 to 2024. So it's possible that in 2025
- 11:14with the new coordinator that TJ Parker just didn't fit.
- 11:17Because when you have a new coordinator, you have a new way
- 11:20of of doing things, you have new plays, you have a new scheme,
- 11:22just a new personality in there. So it's possible that TJ Parker
- 11:26just didn't fit in the new scheme with the new defensive
- 11:30coordinator that Clemson had. Yeah, yeah.
- 11:33And that I think those two are probably going to be the
- 11:35biggest, the biggest reasons the people know your name now.
- 11:38So they're trying to stop you specifically.
- 11:41And then as well, different, different schemes that different
- 11:44play calling. The third reason is other
- 11:47players stepped up to make the play.
- 11:49So he didn't have to make every play.
- 11:50When you see people get these huge stats and what's your Ohio
- 11:54State? It's like, OK, well, I'm the
- 11:55only one that's able to make this play, so I'm just going to
- 11:57make it. And then if you have other
- 11:59playmakers, you have to share the load there.
- 12:01You don't have to make every tackle.
- 12:03Maybe you're the first guy there, but you are eating a
- 12:06double team and then somebody else gets in this to steal a
- 12:08sack like Hakeem Mesedor, Ruben vain kind of deal.
- 12:12And so I I just think that it's there's a series of reasons.
- 12:15I probably you probably can't pinpoint just one.
- 12:18And I don't think it's because of lack of effort.
- 12:20No, definitely not. But will tell me something you
- 12:23like about TJ Parker? He is unrefined raw power.
- 12:26That is one very positive thing about him is that you get the
- 12:29right technique coach in there with him and and allow him to
- 12:34take his granite, his marble block and actually chip it away
- 12:38into to the statue. It needs to be.
- 12:41I think he's going to be a fantastic NFL player.
- 12:43It's very possible that in five years from now, 10 years from
- 12:47now, whenever the heck you're looking back at the 2027 or 2026
- 12:51NFL draft, you're like, wow, how on earth did TJ Parker fall in
- 12:5418? How did that happen?
- 12:57It's also possible that in 10 years from now you look at this
- 13:00and wow, what a whiff of a pick it is.
- 13:03His floor and ceiling are so far apart right now.
- 13:07It is. It is wild.
- 13:09I agree with you. I think the most impressive
- 13:11thing to me about TJ Parker was the long arm move that he uses
- 13:15as a pass rusher. And for anyone who doesn't know
- 13:17what a long arm move is, it's basically a stiff arm to an
- 13:19offensive lineman. So a defender will get their arm
- 13:22fully extended on the frame of the lineman and when placed and
- 13:25timed correctly, the defender will catch the offensive lineman
- 13:28in their back step, which in allows him to gain control and
- 13:30push the offensive lineman back into the quarterback.
- 13:33TJ Parker is very good at the long arm because he's got very
- 13:36good upper body strength. And when TJ Parker hits
- 13:39offensive lineman with that long arm, he's overpowering them and
- 13:42he's rolling them back to collapse the pocket.
- 13:44I just don't think that he has the widest variety of passwords
- 13:47moves and I think that's kind of like you mentioned before Will
- 13:50is he got double teamed a lot more in 2025 versus 2024.
- 13:54And I think one of the reasons he wasn't as productive is
- 13:56because they saw that he has this really good long arm move,
- 14:00but he doesn't have all these other things.
- 14:02And so when they planned to go against TJ Parker, they would
- 14:05say, OK, he does this really well, but he doesn't do these
- 14:08things. And so here's what we're going
- 14:10to do to shut that down. And so he's not going to beat us
- 14:12like that. And so I think that's probably
- 14:14one of the reasons why he wasn't as productive is double teams
- 14:17and because they game planned against what he does really
- 14:20well. Right, which is just good
- 14:22coaching that that's just what you should do.
- 14:24Hey, he does this well. Stop that thing.
- 14:26I expect his first year, second year production in the NFL to go
- 14:31up from college. He's no longer going to be the
- 14:34the spotlight person on the defense.
- 14:36He's going from big fish in a small pond to small fish in a
- 14:40big pond. He and he's got a lot of
- 14:42unrefined raw power, but where he's not going to be the sole
- 14:45focus and you can just go one-on-one with somebody rather
- 14:48than eating all the double teams or being shipped regularly or
- 14:52all these things from the backs and tight ends.
- 14:54I think he's going to have a a serious increase in production
- 14:57because of that, or they're not shifting blocks and shifting
- 15:00line blocking schemes for him specifically.
- 15:04And I think he's going to be a great asset to an NFL team.
- 15:07And again, he could be either the best player out of out of
- 15:11this draft or just a huge watch. And we just have no idea at this
- 15:15point. All right.
- 15:16Do you have anything else you want to add with TJ Parker?
- 15:19Will? I think I've talked about him
- 15:21too much already. OK.
- 15:23We'll move on then. So the next player on the list
- 15:26is Clemson cornerback Avion Terrell, who is currently ranked
- 15:2918th on ESP NS Top 50 big Board, right behind TJ Parker.
- 15:33So will the question to start off here is, are you concerned
- 15:36about Avion Terrell's size? Yes.
- 15:42Oh, you want me to expand on that?
- 15:44Oh, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry.
- 15:45I just I didn't. You asked the question, I
- 15:47answered it. It was moving on.
- 15:49You want to flip the slide here. Oh yeah, sorry.
- 15:51Whether it's Lee Hunter and he's too big or it's Ruben Bang, he's
- 15:55got short arms. We talk a lot about size on this
- 15:57show and here we are back again at 5-10 ish, 511 and a half, 510
- 16:041/2. It depends on the measurements
- 16:05You see. His size is going to limit his
- 16:07ability to cover power receivers like an A.J.
- 16:10Brown or Jamar Chase. He's just physically not not
- 16:13going to be able to. If you get 220 LB A.J.
- 16:15Brown up against Avion Trail here, AJ Brown's just going to
- 16:20literally push him over going up for a 5050 ball.
- 16:23You're he's going to get a flex from the elbow as A.J.
- 16:26Brown goes up and there's just nothing Avion Trail is going to
- 16:29be able to do. Now that being said, he does
- 16:32have a brother who plays the Falcons and so it's not like he
- 16:35doesn't know already. He has an inside track to this
- 16:39is what the NFL really is. He has an inside source to feed
- 16:43him information as what is going to happen or this is how.
- 16:48This is what the NFL receivers are doing.
- 16:50That's different in college. He has a source that can tell
- 16:53him everything he needs to do. I think he's going to fit best
- 16:56in his own scheme where he's able to free float better and
- 16:59crash on a on a route rather than sticking man to man.
- 17:03I think he's going to be great corner in the league.
- 17:05I just think he's going to be incredibly limited as to what
- 17:07he's going to be able to do. I agree, I'm concerned about the
- 17:09size as well, especially because where he's going to get drafted,
- 17:13if he's going to be a first round pick, a team will likely
- 17:15be expecting him to be their corner 1.
- 17:18And I just don't think that's going to work in the NFL.
- 17:20Because if you look at the receiving leaders from last
- 17:22season and you take their size compared to Avion Terrell's,
- 17:25you'll see why this matters so much.
- 17:27So just to give you the top five guys, JSN is 6 foot 197,
- 17:31Pukunuku is 62212, George Pickens is 63200, Jamar Chase is
- 17:356 foot two O 5. Amar St.
- 17:38Brown is 6 foot 2O2. That's just the top five guys,
- 17:41but every single one of them is bigger than Avion Terrell.
- 17:44And I know that most of them are just one inch taller, but
- 17:47they're almost 20 lbs heavier. And there are plenty more
- 17:51receivers in the NFL who are bigger than him.
- 17:53I understand that you can move them around to the slot or
- 17:56wherever, but that the problem with that is, is that these
- 17:59receivers are also being moved around in today's NFL.
- 18:02They play at every spot. So yes, you can move him around,
- 18:05but so are the bigger receivers. They're being moved around just
- 18:09as much as you could move him around.
- 18:10So you could make a mismatch pretty much wherever you want on
- 18:13the field because of his size. A good offensive coordinator
- 18:16will do that as well. They will see where he's lining
- 18:19up and they will motion their power receiver or their biggest
- 18:21guy or the most physical guy. They will motion him into that
- 18:24same spot. So you're not getting away from
- 18:27from me. You're you're going to eat this
- 18:29no matter what kind of thing. So that he just needs to expect
- 18:32it. And I'm sure he is.
- 18:33He's just one of those hard to overlook things.
- 18:37Exactly. However, with that being said,
- 18:39Avion Terrell does not back down from anybody.
- 18:42It doesn't matter how much bigger they are than him, he is
- 18:45going to compete as if he is just as big as they are.
- 18:48He's not afraid to go up against any receiver regardless of their
- 18:51size, and he makes up for his lack of size with his
- 18:54competitive nature and by attacking the football.
- 18:57He's very good at attacking the football by ripping and pulling
- 18:59at the football to cause fumbles.
- 19:01He has eight forced fumbles over the last two years, so the size
- 19:05does concern me, but he has things about his game that
- 19:07helped him to make up for that. So just to wrap up here, size
- 19:10does matter. It does.
- 19:16Sorry. Some say it doesn't, but it
- 19:19does. It does.
- 19:22Anyway, one thing I really liked about Avion Terrell too is he
- 19:24has the ability to be moved around to defense and play
- 19:27different spots. Clemson used him as a blitzer a
- 19:30decent amount and as a result of that, he had three sacks in
- 19:322025. Now, 3 sacks doesn't sound
- 19:35really cool, but as a corner, 3 sacks is actually really good.
- 19:38Agreed. Yeah, there are several
- 19:39defensive coordinators in the NFL who would love to use Avion
- 19:43Terrell as a blitzer. And so if a defensive
- 19:46coordinator is looking for one of those guys in the draft,
- 19:48Avion Terrell is definitely someone that they should be
- 19:50looking at because he's very good at it.
- 19:52Really, I just love that he plays with an underdog mentality
- 19:55on every snap because he is smaller than everybody else.
- 19:58And I, I think when you watch players like that, they're
- 20:00always fun to watch because they're always putting in extra
- 20:03effort. And as a fan, that's the type of
- 20:06stuff that you like to see. It is a bit of a hard sell
- 20:09though, and we'll talk about this more as we as we move
- 20:11through our guys here, probably our next guy.
- 20:13It's hard to get a secondary player drafted that high.
- 20:17Who we're trying to get to blitz and stop the running to make
- 20:21make big hits because I want my I personally, I want my
- 20:24secondary to cover receivers, cover tight ends, cover these
- 20:27guys who they're just going to be outside how Tyrell's just
- 20:32going to be outsized by. So it's, it's a hard sell to me
- 20:35as a, as a defensive quarter and say, hey, yeah, we need this guy
- 20:39and then his measurables just don't measure up.
- 20:42It's also a concern because he misses a lot of tackles.
- 20:44In 2024, he had a missed tackle rate of 14.1%.
- 20:48Now he did improve that in 2025, but he still had a missed tackle
- 20:51rate of 10.4%. But when you look at a lot of
- 20:54these guys who are some of the best tacklers in this draft,
- 20:57they're they're like a 5% or lower missed tackle rate.
- 21:00His is more than double that, so you can see that his lack of
- 21:04length and his size does affect the way that he's able to secure
- 21:07tackles sometimes as well. Yeah, just even a positive note
- 21:10here. I do think he's got good ball
- 21:12skills and he's incredibly capable of punching the ball
- 21:15out. And so I do think he'll make a
- 21:16good asset to a team. There's just a lot of a lot of
- 21:19question marks that go along with it.
- 21:21Agreed. Right, well, let's move on to
- 21:24the next player on our list, who is Toledo safety Emmanuel McNeil
- 21:27Warren, who is currently ranked 26th on the ESPN Top 50 Big
- 21:31Board. Now, if your team has a
- 21:33secondary that needs an enforcer, Emmanuel McNeil Warren
- 21:37is the guy you're looking for. He's 6, three, 200 lbs and he
- 21:40uses every bit of his frame to attack the middle of the field.
- 21:43My biggest thing with Emmanuel McNeil Warren is I just wish we
- 21:47would have seen him play at a bigger program.
- 21:49I think he's going to be a good player at the NFL level, but
- 21:52when I watch him on tape, I just felt like things were too easy
- 21:56for him. He did make some plays against
- 21:58Kentucky and Washington State, like he played teams like that
- 22:01who are at a higher level. But most of the time he was
- 22:04going against teams like Kent State or Ball State.
- 22:07And I've seen a lot of people compare him to Seahawks safety
- 22:10Nick Eastman Worry. And I don't hate that comp, but
- 22:13I think Emmanuel McNeil Warren might have more of a learning
- 22:16curve going into the NFL because Nick Eastman Worry played at
- 22:19South Carolina. So he played against teams like
- 22:21LSU, Alabama, Ole Miss, Texas A&M.
- 22:25He played against teams that are producing constant NFL talent.
- 22:28Now, I get that we often see players from small schools who
- 22:31come in and have success, and I'm not saying that he won't
- 22:34have success, but like I said, things just look too easy for
- 22:37him playing against teams that were on Toledo's schedule.
- 22:41So I just want to see how he performs when things aren't as
- 22:44easy in the NFL. Earlier when I was doing my my
- 22:48film study and everything like that of Emmanuel McNeil Warren,
- 22:51I texted my brother, Hey, where would you draft a run stopping
- 22:54safety who will struggle in single high coverage when he is
- 22:58the single high Also who just frankly struggles in man
- 23:01coverage in general. And he replied back with, oh,
- 23:04you mean an undersized linebacker who could only play
- 23:07downhill then 4th at earliest. And I said, well, he's 6422 O1
- 23:13with 451 speed. He's like, yeah, still
- 23:15underweight. That's gay.
- 23:18Then I replied back, what he needs to do is put on 40 lbs and
- 23:21shit down and play edge. Now that's not going to happen,
- 23:24but that's kind of what we're dealing with.
- 23:26And, and I kind of hinted this with Terrell Avion.
- 23:29Terrell is that we are in the same scenario we were just in
- 23:32where we're talking about a secondary player who cannot play
- 23:36man coverage very well, who is a run stopping secondary player.
- 23:40It's like Jamal Adams, honestly that was the best comp I can
- 23:43think of. And I I want to get back to
- 23:46comps here in a minute, but you're going to be with you
- 23:49Warren here. You are at risk for big
- 23:51downfield place. He's going to get beat by double
- 23:54moves. He's going to get outran.
- 23:56He's not as fast, he doesn't keep up.
- 23:58He doesn't have good in air ball skills.
- 24:01He doesn't cover tight well. And when the NFL when you're not
- 24:05open, you're still open. You just have to make the play.
- 24:08And so I I'm very hesitant here. He's projected at a late 1 early
- 24:132 and I think you are you are putting your secondary at risk
- 24:18if you are taking him as late 1 and he's going to be your
- 24:21premier safety and he's a true free safety where they want him
- 24:25roaming around. They don't even do the strong
- 24:26side of the field. They need him on the on the open
- 24:29side of the field where it's it's less pressure.
- 24:32But still you can't trust him to cover tight ends really, because
- 24:35it's tight end of the game. I mean, we talked about Keenan
- 24:37Sadiq and that dude's running out of the out of his shoes.
- 24:40He's so fast. And so you get, you get these
- 24:42big bodied, well crafted receiving tight ends.
- 24:45McNeil Warren's going to have struggle against that.
- 24:47He's not fast enough to keep up with backs out of the backfield.
- 24:52He just is working to make the hit.
- 24:54And one thing I I don't like and I will get the stuff I do like,
- 24:58one thing I don't like is that each year he had an increased
- 25:03rate of missed tackles. Now to put a caveat on that, he
- 25:07had a 10% missed tackle rate through his entire college
- 25:10career. That is incredibly good, but it
- 25:13got worse, not better as he moved through the years, which
- 25:17means he was working to make more hits.
- 25:19And it might be, as you said, Joel, it might be the fact that
- 25:21the game at that level, at that Toledo's level and the the
- 25:25conference they were in was just not as competitive as he is.
- 25:31And that's that's very possible. He's a very good player, very
- 25:33well skilled player. And that he wasn't facing equal
- 25:37over competition. And so you get to take more
- 25:39risks. You get to take more chances in
- 25:41that light. And so the increased missed
- 25:44tackle rate throughout his entire season, throughout his
- 25:48entire career in Toledo, while also being a run stop and safety
- 25:52has me a bit concerned. Yeah.
- 25:54And just to go back to something that you mentioned, is that kind
- 25:56of like he allows big plays. I just want to give an example
- 25:59here of him allowing a big play because it almost felt like at
- 26:02times that Emmanuel McNeil Warren let the action come to
- 26:05him instead of going. Yes, very much so.
- 26:08There was one place specifically that I want to point out where a
- 26:11player he wasn't guarding got the ball and started running up
- 26:14field. Well, instead of heading
- 26:16downhill to the player, he starts backing up like 10 yards
- 26:19and he waits for the player to come to him.
- 26:21Now on this play, he did force a fumble.
- 26:23But the problem with that is if he hadn't forced a turnover, he
- 26:27just allowed the guy to get 10 extra yards.
- 26:29And that's one of those things that may not work moving up to
- 26:31the NFL. You can't afford to wait for a
- 26:34guy to go 10 extra yards and just expect to force a fumble
- 26:37every time. You can't do that.
- 26:39NFL players aren't going to do that.
- 26:40You just, that's not something that you can do like and that's
- 26:43one of the things that I why I said it just seemed like it was
- 26:46too easy for him. Like he was like, oh, I'm just
- 26:48going to wait for this guy to come to me and then I'm just
- 26:50going to punch the ball out, get a turnover.
- 26:52It felt too easy. It felt too easy.
- 26:54So that's kind of one of the things that I'm worried about
- 26:57for him going into the NFL. And just to go back to the Nicki
- 27:00Manwari comp, I'm going to make Seahawks fans mad by saying
- 27:03this, but Nicki Manwari was very good in his rookie year.
- 27:07But I don't think he would have been as good as he was if the
- 27:10Seahawks didn't already have the foundation of that defense that
- 27:14they already had when he got there.
- 27:16And so if Nicki Minaj is the comp for Emmanuel McNeil Warren,
- 27:20unless he's in a secondary and a defense that has all of these
- 27:24pieces and he's just one of the last pieces to move in, I don't
- 27:28think he's going to be that good.
- 27:31I don't think he's going to be as he's he's not going to play
- 27:34the same level of Nicki Minouri in his rookie year.
- 27:36He just has to go to the right place.
- 27:38If he goes to the right place and he has the right role, sure,
- 27:41he can be as good as Nicki Minouri was.
- 27:43But I don't think if you put Nicki Minouri on The Jets, no,
- 27:49he's not going to be that good. And you could say that about
- 27:51probably anybody, but do you get what I'm trying to say?
- 27:54I mean, even sauce left at that place.
- 27:56I, I do get what you're saying. And, and we've said this a lot,
- 27:59right, like team fit matters and the players are playing around,
- 28:02especially as a young, young NFL player, the the players are
- 28:06playing around matters so much because you need to learn from
- 28:09the best available. And so even when he went to the
- 28:12Seahawks and they just won the Super Bowl, they had the best
- 28:15available. And maybe they're the best
- 28:17individual players, but your best coaching and your best this
- 28:20that and the other because you have to have the best of that to
- 28:22win the Super Bowl. And so I agree with here as
- 28:26well. He's going to Neil Warren's
- 28:27going to have to go to the right fit, right team and he's going
- 28:30to have to learn how to to play in man coverage because if
- 28:33you're going to play in zone every single time or it's going
- 28:36to be mandatory to the zone over the top quarterback, NFL
- 28:39quarterbacks, NFL Austin coordinators are going to RIP
- 28:42that apart until the last thing you want to be is a team live.
- 28:46But he's going to get drafted high and and have to prove
- 28:49himself till there's that. There we go.
- 28:52I don't know what else I was trying to say.
- 28:54All right, so let's move on to the next player on the list,
- 28:57which is Alabama offensive tackle Kaden Proctor.
- 29:00And he currently ranks 28th on the ESPN Top 50 Big board.
- 29:04And Will, I'm very curious to see what you have to say about
- 29:07him because I am really not quite sure to be honest with
- 29:10you. Yeah.
- 29:11And that's kind of the big thing right now with these offensive.
- 29:13And we said it was almost every single offensive lineman except
- 29:15for I think I, I think I crushed that, truly.
- 29:20No, you didn't. I think I got that.
- 29:22I think I got. One that was not even.
- 29:25No, you, you say it, you say it. Venga Yawani.
- 29:29Yeah, that's the same thing I said.
- 29:31You can't prove it otherwise. It's not like we're recording
- 29:34this or anything. I'm going to roll back the
- 29:35replay anyway. We're not talking about that
- 29:38anymore. That's been like the one all
- 29:41around surefire prospect. The only problem with him is
- 29:45that he plays inside. And so now we talked about this
- 29:48is our what, 6th tackle? We talked about 7 tackle we
- 29:51talked about we talked about one guard and no centers.
- 29:55Like yeah, like we know no one is drafting guards and centers
- 29:59early. Everyone wants tackles and I I
- 30:03think that's fine. But with King Proctor, you're
- 30:05getting a mammoth of a man. 6 foot seven, 352 lbs.
- 30:09He will. What was that number?
- 30:11I he will have 352 lbs is the number he will have.
- 30:15To the other one. The other one.
- 30:16He will have to I heard a really hard not to do at this time.
- 30:20Phil really hard any. Sorry.
- 30:24He will have to cut weight in the league, but that's just
- 30:27going to happen. You're going to get in there and
- 30:29you're going to be putting a strict meal plan and offseason
- 30:32training and all this other stuff.
- 30:34You will he's going to cut weight.
- 30:35There's just no way. Well, not there's no way anyway.
- 30:38You can just eat all the garbage you want.
- 30:40It doesn't matter how much training you do, you're going to
- 30:42gain weight. But it but chances are
- 30:45incredibly high he's going to end up cutting weight and
- 30:48incredibly athletic forest size 32 1/2 inch vertical and 109
- 30:53inch broad jump which blows Lee Hunter out of the water all
- 30:58right he jumped a foot further than Lee Hunter with 40
- 31:01additional pounds. OK, that is significant.
- 31:05I don't mean to keep going back to Lee Hunter, but if that's the
- 31:10standard and people are saying why this is that podcast doesn't
- 31:14know anything. Listen, I'm comparing individual
- 31:17to individual in the same draft class.
- 31:20It's not me versus that guy. It's these guys.
- 31:22And it's not like I'm eye test visual.
- 31:25This is recorded numbers by the NFL combine and Kaden Proctor
- 31:30Broad jumped a foot further than him at 40 more pounds.
- 31:35That is not nothing. Anywho, he's taller.
- 31:39Doesn't matter. Truly doesn't matter anyway.
- 31:42I think Kaden Proctor is top three best offensive tackles in
- 31:47this. He's like the 6th, maybe 7th
- 31:49offensive tackle we talked about.
- 31:50He's probably the third best, if not second best offensive tackle
- 31:53in this draft. The problem is he's a project,
- 31:56right? You can't draft a top 10A
- 31:59tackle, top ten. That's going to be an an
- 32:01incredible project. He, as we have here, he excels
- 32:05against power with an incredibly reliable anchor.
- 32:07Anchor. Excuse me?
- 32:08You're not running through him. You are, however, running around
- 32:12him. His mass is so large, it's truly
- 32:15like a train. I don't even know how else to
- 32:17explain this. He's got so much mass that when
- 32:20that train starts moving One Direction, it just physically
- 32:23can't go the other way. And so he's going to have to A,
- 32:26like go back to it. Here, he didn't have to cut
- 32:28weight and B, get more agile. He's incredibly strong.
- 32:31Once his hands get on you, they don't get off.
- 32:34He sets his anchor and you're just done.
- 32:35You can't go through him. These NFL pass rushers are just
- 32:39going to go outside and then spin back in and beat him
- 32:42consistently when he is run blocking, he will get out there
- 32:46and he leaves with his hands to make contact and then just
- 32:48flattens people over. If you don't, if you allow him
- 32:51at the second level as linebackers or even wherever
- 32:55it's safety is, if you long get your hands on you as is as a
- 32:58smaller player, you're just going to go down.
- 33:01He's just putting you in the dirt.
- 33:03He seals the edge well. He gets to the spot well, but if
- 33:06you are any amount agile, you're just going to get around
- 33:09Proctor. And so I I like what he has
- 33:11going on and I think he could be, again, putting the crystal
- 33:16ball out there. What continues in the future.
- 33:18He could be a cornerstone piece like a Tristan works kind of guy
- 33:21where it's like, man, I'm so glad we drafted this guy.
- 33:23He's just been the most consistent piece on our
- 33:25offensive line for a decade now. And it's just, we're just not
- 33:30there currently. You cannot draft Procter and
- 33:32expect him to be your day one starter.
- 33:34You can't. That's just not going to happen.
- 33:37It it could, you could, but you just know you're going to have
- 33:40to put your back in coverage right in that gap between the
- 33:43him and the guard every time. And it's just because outside
- 33:47he's not getting beat. They start outside and come
- 33:49inside, he's going to get beat across his face and it just
- 33:53doesn't work for him. So he's got great size, he's got
- 33:56incredible strength, powerful mitts.
- 33:59It's just he's not agile enough for the NFL at this point.
- 34:03He's incredibly battle tested having been a three-year
- 34:05starter, three-year starter in the SEC.
- 34:09And so it's not that he doesn't have the reps, it's just need,
- 34:13we're going to need more out of them.
- 34:14Yeah, I don't really have much to add here really.
- 34:17The biggest thing that I was going to bring up is that he
- 34:19struggles against speed rushers. Now, I know you said Will that
- 34:23they don't really get around him like on the outside, but what I
- 34:27saw a lot of the time with Kaden Proctor when he's going to get
- 34:29to speed rusher is they would get underneath him and then he
- 34:33would kind of just fall on them. Yeah, that's the that's the move
- 34:37that's very common in NFL. It bothers me.
- 34:39It's cheap, it's lazy. It's it's.
- 34:41Common it is they get they get underneath and they get around
- 34:45him. He literally just drops all his
- 34:46body weight and just falls on top of the guy.
- 34:49Right when you're 352 lbs, there's just a lot of weight
- 34:52there that's just laying on you and you just can't physically do
- 34:54anything about it. So yeah, I don't really have
- 34:56anything else to add with Kate and Proctor, but I just, I still
- 35:00don't really know how I feel about him.
- 35:02Just I really like his power. Like I really like the power
- 35:05that he has and he wins with power.
- 35:07But if I were defensive coordinator, I would find a way
- 35:10to get a speed rusher on Kaden Proctor every passing down
- 35:13because I just don't think he does well in those situations.
- 35:16I agree. Well, I wasn't sure how I felt
- 35:18about Kaden Proctor, but I know how I feel about this next guy,
- 35:21which is Missouri EDGE Zion Young, who currently ranks 30th
- 35:25on the ESPN Top 50 Big Board. I really like Zion Young a lot.
- 35:29I just like the way that he plays.
- 35:31Zion Young has this energy about him in the way that he plays
- 35:34that spreads to the rest of the defense.
- 35:36And just to give an example, there was one video I saw where
- 35:39the game was going to overtime and the captains were out there
- 35:41for both sides. And while the official was
- 35:43talking, Zion Young was just out there just yelling let's go,
- 35:47let's go. And the official was talking
- 35:49into his mic so you could hear it throughout the entire
- 35:52stadium. Like he was just getting
- 35:53everybody hyped up for overtime. I thought that the entire
- 35:56Missouri defense fed off of Zion Young One, because of how he
- 36:00plays attitude wise and 2:00 because of how often he is
- 36:04making impact plays. Now, when you look at Zion
- 36:06Young's numbers, they're not going to jump off the page at
- 36:09you. He's only had he only had 6 1/2
- 36:11sacks this last season and so that you won't be impressed by
- 36:14that. But then when you watch his
- 36:16tape, you see how often he's making plays that just impact
- 36:19the quarterback. Zion Young was consistently in
- 36:22the face of quarterbacks and making them make throws that led
- 36:25to to incomplete passes or turnovers.
- 36:28Now I'm not saying that he's a super refined pass rusher
- 36:31because I think he has a lot of room to grow in that area.
- 36:33Still. He wins with power and by
- 36:36bullying people. But he needs to work on getting
- 36:38better at counter moves because I think when something doesn't
- 36:41work for him, he just defaults back to power and I think that's
- 36:44why he's not always getting the sack.
- 36:46Right now he's more of a go through you type of a pass
- 36:49rusher versus a get around the edge fast type of a pass rusher.
- 36:52I would have liked to have seen it.
- 36:53I didn't. I didn't pull it up.
- 36:55I didn't search too too hard for I would have liked to have seen
- 36:57Zion young versus Kaden Proctor tape.
- 36:58I think that would have been fun to watch.
- 37:00Yeah, it's too it's it's your skill sets going against your
- 37:04best skill sets going against each other and that is just fun
- 37:07to watch my best verse your best that's it's it's exciting.
- 37:11I'm incredibly indifferent about this guy.
- 37:13I think, I don't remember who I said this about earlier, but
- 37:16he's another guy who is just going to get in fights in the
- 37:20offseason when they. Oh, you said that about Venga
- 37:23Yuani. Oh, sure.
- 37:24Yeah. Perfect.
- 37:25Wonderful. If these two are opposing teams
- 37:28and offseason practices, those two will fight like it's just
- 37:32going to be a problem. The chirping is great and the
- 37:35chirping is fun, but eventually these offensive lineman are just
- 37:39bigger and most likely stronger than you.
- 37:42And so he's going to have to learn to not run his mouth.
- 37:44Because again, we're going big fish small pond to small fish,
- 37:48big pond. And running your mouth like that
- 37:50is what you want your defense to do.
- 37:53But at the same time, hey, maybe we want to assign an assassin
- 37:56here too. And if you don't have the stats
- 37:58to back up the mouth, that's going to cause significant
- 38:01issues because your offensive line, you, you start chirping at
- 38:05the offensive lineman and you're not in the next play.
- 38:08Those offensive lineman don't care who's across from them.
- 38:10You made me mad. I'm hitting hard at the next guy
- 38:13who comes across. And so it's it.
- 38:15It could get him in trouble with his own team too.
- 38:17Incredible Run stalker, though. Run stocking calling card.
- 38:20He he stacks blocker, he sheds with violence, he holds his
- 38:23ground against double team, His £262.00 gives him a good anchor
- 38:27to stand there and just hold the block.
- 38:29That's the line of scrimmage. And then like we talked about,
- 38:32his motor never stops running, consistently chasing plays down.
- 38:36You'll never hear lack of effort be a word with Zione Young and
- 38:39it starts with his feet and runs all the way through his mouth
- 38:42and he just never stops moving. Yeah, he's a very good run
- 38:45defender. And like you mentioned, against
- 38:46double teams, he just holds his ground because of his strength
- 38:50and he's always right there at the line of scrimmage.
- 38:53And that's a big reason why he had 16 1/2 tackles for loss last
- 38:56season, because even against those double teams, offensive
- 38:59lineman struggled to push him back off the line of scrimmage.
- 39:02And so Zion Young put himself in position to make plays because
- 39:05he held his ground, maintained his assignment, And so when the
- 39:07ball came his way, he was just right there to make the play.
- 39:10So he's very, very good as a run defender.
- 39:13I do want to go back to what Will said about the fighting
- 39:15thing though, because this is something that we haven't really
- 39:18talked about yet with any of these players we've scouted.
- 39:20There are character concerns with Zion Young because in 2023
- 39:24he was charged with aggravated assault after being involved in
- 39:26a fight after a game, and then this last December he was
- 39:30arrested for a DWI. So if it wasn't for his
- 39:33character concerns, I think he would easily be a first round
- 39:36pick. But he's really talented.
- 39:38But teams are just going to have to ask themselves if they want
- 39:40to deal with someone who gets themselves into trouble like
- 39:43this. If it wasn't for the DWI this
- 39:46last December, I think he would probably easily be a first round
- 39:49pick. But because you know, the thing
- 39:52that happened in 2023, if there was nothing else that happened
- 39:55after that and he's, you know, showing that he's not going to
- 39:58get himself in trouble. And he's he's matured and he's
- 40:01grown up a little bit, then that's a different story.
- 40:03But because he got in that fight and then a couple years later he
- 40:07has a DWI, you're still kind of showing teams like, yeah, I'm
- 40:11going to be a problem for you. You have to worry about me.
- 40:14And so I think that's one of the things that's pushing him back
- 40:17into the second round range. Instead of being a first round
- 40:19Jack pick. Yeah, I agree with that.
- 40:21Another negative, not to build on that, but as separately from
- 40:24that is that he just plays too tall at six foot six.
- 40:27He just doesn't get his leverage right, which is why he's not as
- 40:29good in the pass rush. There's just a lot to fix here,
- 40:31a lot to fix on and off the field and that that creates a
- 40:35lot of red flags and that's kind of what we're going to start
- 40:37getting into. But we're in this range where
- 40:38it's like, yeah, they're good, but they're not like you're not
- 40:42like Arvo Reese, like are we? What are we doing here?
- 40:48So yeah, I agree with you. I agree with you.
- 40:51All right, so we got one more player here and that is Alabama
- 40:54wide receiver Jeremy Bernard, who is currently ranked 33rd on
- 40:58ESP NS Top 50. Big Board will give me some
- 41:01thoughts on Jeremy Bernard. Who?
- 41:05Man? He's fine.
- 41:07No, I'm just kidding. He was Ty Simpson's go to guy
- 41:12this year. He was the playmaker for Alabama
- 41:15in the passing game. He had over 100 rushing yards
- 41:18this season as well. Good size, 6 foot 1200 and 6
- 41:20lbs. He owns the intermediate field,
- 41:23dig rounds, crossing slants, all that kind of stuff.
- 41:25Anything from 8 to 18 yards. That's his range from is.
- 41:28You're not going to get him vertical.
- 41:30He's not a vertical threat. He's not your Devonta Smith.
- 41:32He's not your admin insert player here, right?
- 41:35We don't need to go through them all.
- 41:37But when he does get the ball in his hands, he then turns up
- 41:40field and acts physically. He runs physically.
- 41:44He's not fast. He's not slow by any means.
- 41:46I'm slow. He's not slow, but he runs
- 41:49physically when he gets the ball in his hands and he plays
- 41:51through contact. Good body control, good balance
- 41:54to keep inside and to work in tight spaces, which you're going
- 41:56to have to do if you're running slants and everything like that.
- 42:00Sees the ball well through the congestion and that's
- 42:03significantly harder that people give him credit for.
- 42:05Running a slant route where there's quite possibly 15
- 42:09people, 88 to 15 people between you and the quarterback and
- 42:12you're on a 5 yard slant, 3 yard slant, whatever you want to call
- 42:15it. And he's zipping the ball in
- 42:16there as fast as he can because it's so congested.
- 42:18You're going to see the ball through that and still make the
- 42:21play. It's not an easy task and it's
- 42:22it's where Jeremy Bernard really excels.
- 42:24Yeah, I think Jeremy Bernard is going to be a really good NFL
- 42:27player. I don't know if I see him being
- 42:29a legit number one wide receiver, though, but I think
- 42:32there's a lot to like about him and I think he's going to be
- 42:34just a really solid player in the NFL.
- 42:37What I was most impressed with about Jeremy Bernard's game is
- 42:40how smooth of a transition there is when he goes from making the
- 42:43catch to being a runner. As soon as that ball hits his
- 42:45hands, he's turning up field for yards after the catch.
- 42:48And a lot of times when we see that from receivers, we see
- 42:51drops because they're just going too fast and they lose focus.
- 42:54They're focused on getting up the field instead of bringing in
- 42:57the ball. But that's not the case with
- 42:59Jeremy Bernard. He had 155 catches in college
- 43:02with only four drops in four years, Which which is 2.5%.
- 43:07He just makes the transition from catching to being a runner
- 43:09look really easy and that's a big part of why he's good at
- 43:13picking up yards after the catch.
- 43:14In 2025, he had 394 yards after the catch, which was 46% of his
- 43:20receiving yards. And he's got a really good size
- 43:22frame and he just uses that after the catch to absorb hits
- 43:24from defenders and breaks tackles.
- 43:27So that to me was probably the most impressive thing about him
- 43:30and and is similar to Omer Cooper Junior.
- 43:32There is a place in the NFL for a guy who can break a lot of
- 43:35tackles and get a lot of yards after the catch.
- 43:38Agreed. And it's every team.
- 43:41I mean, it's literally every team, yes.
- 43:43So yes. Another thing I liked about him
- 43:45is that Jeremy Bernard can be lined up all over the offense.
- 43:49He's not limited to just playing on the outside or playing in the
- 43:52slot. He has a skill set that allows
- 43:54him to create mismatches for a defense.
- 43:57So in 2025, he lined up wide 62.2% of the time and in the
- 44:01slot 34.5% of the time. He also took 18 snaps as a
- 44:05runner, which I'm assuming is where the remaining 3.3% comes
- 44:08from. He had 101 yards on 18 carries,
- 44:11which is 5.6 yards per carry, and then he added two rushing
- 44:14touchdowns. So he can play multiple spots on
- 44:17the field and he plays all of them pretty well.
- 44:21I was not expecting to like this, to like him, honestly.
- 44:25We're we're this part in the draft.
- 44:26We talked about a handful of receivers.
- 44:28I haven't talked good about that, most of them.
- 44:30And so it's it's interesting to find the player of his caliber
- 44:33who's making the call. They can make it almost out like
- 44:35catches getting up field as much as you can.
- 44:38It's just a knock on him is that he doesn't have #1 receiver
- 44:43speed, he is a #1 receiver, deep threat, viability.
- 44:47And so people aren't viewing him as a #1 receiver.
- 44:49He's not being talked about as a well, he's going to be a number
- 44:51one in the NFL. He's just a a key fit piece.
- 44:56And and so it's like, OK, that is those are the guys that make
- 45:00the most plays. Look at look at Brady's teams.
- 45:03You got the small not not that Jeremy Bernard is a smaller guy
- 45:06beat the smaller guy coming across the middle with Edelman
- 45:09and and Woodhead and all these guys who were just all right,
- 45:11let me just throw this 5 yard pass and just do your thing.
- 45:14Make the play Cooper Cup's the same way.
- 45:16Now Cooper Cup has more of a threat, but it was more of a
- 45:19threat. But it's it's all these come
- 45:21across the middle. I mean get the ball in the
- 45:22playmaker's hand and just do your thing.
- 45:24That's what Jeremy Bernard is. I mean the ball in your hand as
- 45:27quickly as possible and then just do your thing.
- 45:29He absorbs contact really well and and gets up feel like I and
- 45:33I'm really fond of him. If if he falls to late second,
- 45:37maybe third, he's going to be an absolute steal.
- 45:40I think he's probably going to be a second round pick.
- 45:42I don't know where in the second round.
- 45:43I don't see him falling to the third though.
- 45:45But you're right, if he falls that far, he's going to be a
- 45:48steal. Now, the area where I'm most
- 45:51concerned about Jamie Bernard, and this is probably the reason
- 45:54why he's not viewed as a number one wide receiver is his ability
- 45:58to win contested catches is not good.
- 46:02In 2025, he caught 5 of 14 contested catches, which is
- 46:0535.7%. So much like Omar Cooper junior
- 46:09from Indiana, he has the size and physicality to do it, but it
- 46:13just doesn't show up in the actual situation where he's
- 46:16trying to make a contested catch.
- 46:17It just doesn't match his physicality as a runner that you
- 46:21would expect from him in the air.
- 46:22So that's kind of why I think he's not viewed as a number one
- 46:25wide receiver. But again, I really, really like
- 46:29him a lot and I think he's going to be just a really solid player
- 46:32in the NFL. I can agree with that.
- 46:34OK. So Will, if you don't have
- 46:35anything else to add about Jeremy Bernard, I know that I
- 46:39said last time that I wanted to wait for Avery to kind of rank
- 46:43our guys because we we've gotten the rankings done one through
- 46:4721, but now we have 37 players on the list.
- 46:50And I just we have a lot of guys on here.
- 46:52And so I think we kind of need to just rank.
- 46:54We don't have to rank all of them, but I would like to rank
- 46:56at least some of these guys and put them in here.
- 46:58And then when Avery comes back, we can have him give us some
- 47:01feedback on where we ranked them.
- 47:03So 22 through 37, we have the players on here that we have not
- 47:07ranked and these are not in any particular order.
- 47:09They're just guys that I just put their name on the board, so.
- 47:12All right, so the Lee Hunter goes to 37.
- 47:14No, I'm just kidding. Although I don't think it's far
- 47:20off honestly that I am. I'm wrong about this guy on on
- 47:25his production level. That's going to happen in the
- 47:27NFLI. Understand that this is going to
- 47:29be an ice cold take here in in seven months or whatever.
- 47:34I'm not wrong about his athleticism and that that is
- 47:38what worries me the most because there's some of the stuff that
- 47:40you can't teach, but that's fine.
- 47:44I think you want to crushed it two times in a row.
- 47:48Yoani. No, I know what I said.
- 47:51He probably goes man, I want to say top 15, but top 15 feels.
- 47:58No I agree he should be top 15. That feels right.
- 48:01Maybe at 15. Is he higher?
- 48:03Let's. See, I would probably put him at
- 48:0710 honestly. I don't disagree with that, I
- 48:10just want to say something to do crazy to make you mad.
- 48:12No, I think he's a better player than Keldrick Faulk because
- 48:15Keldrick Faulk is kind of a potential guy and you want a is
- 48:18like I'm going to produce for you right now type of guy.
- 48:20Agreed. So I'm going to put him at 10
- 48:23between Mackay Lemon and Keldrick Falk.
- 48:25Now, just so you know, Will Lee Hunter is ranked at 36 on ESPN's
- 48:29Top 50 Big Board. So oh, I don't feel so bad.
- 48:31Problem. Yeah, I heard, he said.
- 48:32The problem get him out of. Here, get him out of.
- 48:34Here, Good calling. I hit that right on the nail,
- 48:38man. That guy is.
- 48:40You notice that Jeremy McCoy has no grade just like that point.
- 48:45He does not. There's two things that Will
- 48:47cannot let go is that is that Jermont McCoy did not play and
- 48:51he's still not playing and Lee Hunter is a bad athlete.
- 48:54Mahomes tour is ACL right? That's what happened, yes.
- 48:58How old is he 3229? No, he's not that old.
- 49:03All right, this is this matters. I'm on one now.
- 49:06What is that dude's name? Patrick.
- 49:09Patrick Mahomes is 3030. You know what?
- 49:11I was right in the middle. He'll be 31.
- 49:13He'll be 31, like at the beginning of the season.
- 49:17Patrick Mahomes knee injury. Oh, here, look, here's a quick
- 49:23Google AI. How long is an ACL tear recovery
- 49:26time for NFL players? 9 to 12 months.
- 49:31All right, Mahomes is already back on the field, and that
- 49:34happened week to 12, Week 13 last year.
- 49:40It was less than a year, I can tell you that it's.
- 49:42Well, way less than a year. Sorry, I'm getting mad about it,
- 49:45obviously. And that he's 30 and your mom,
- 49:48McCoy is in his early 20s. And just like we say, well,
- 49:51kids, they recover easy. When you're younger, you heal
- 49:55easier. Your body is an easier time
- 49:57healing most of the time. Obviously there's outlying
- 49:59circumstances. I just think that to me, that
- 50:04puts McCoy at like 36 that truly I'm fine with leaving him there,
- 50:09but you have nothing to judge him off of because he's not
- 50:13participating and the best ability is availability and he's
- 50:17just not available. Now, I'm not saying we should do
- 50:19it. I just I.
- 50:21Have no problem with. That he's not.
- 50:22I have no problem with that. Even that was an accident, that
- 50:25was. That was not taking him overly
- 50:27Hunter. I have no problem with him being
- 50:30at 36 this. Is this is what happens when you
- 50:32give me the the sticks here and allow me to make these changes?
- 50:37All right, man, What do you think, Joel?
- 50:42I'm obviously we're not done yet.
- 50:44Are we going off of athleticism or actual prospects?
- 50:47What are we doing here? I think we're going off of
- 50:50potential, but I also think that you have to take into
- 50:53consideration where they are right now as a player too,
- 50:57because Keldrick Falk to me is not.
- 51:01I don't think he's going to be a contributor as at least as a
- 51:03pass rusher right away. He's more of a potential guy.
- 51:06That's the thing. I'd rather go off of kind of a
- 51:08combination of the two. Does that make sense?
- 51:10I think Kate McDonald should move to number one since he
- 51:12commented on one of our posts. That's pretty cool.
- 51:16I mean I should pretty. Cool, shout out Kate McDonald,
- 51:18we'll gladly have you on the show anytime.
- 51:20Absolutely no. But like generally though, he
- 51:22should go above Caleb Lomu. I mean, he's, I'm debating.
- 51:26See, I don't think he's more athletic than David Bailey,
- 51:28though. David Bailey is incredibly
- 51:31athletic. I'm cool with putting Kate
- 51:32McDonald right there at 16, I think.
- 51:34That's a good spot. I like that.
- 51:35The thing that Avery's going to struggle with is Dylan Feneman,
- 51:38because Avery is probably like the biggest Dylan Feneman fan
- 51:41out there. Where would you put him, Will?
- 51:43I mean, right above Ruben Bain, he's a top 20 player, but he
- 51:47won't get drafted that way because of his position and
- 51:49value. I think he will.
- 51:51I think there's a lot of hype around him going to the top 20
- 51:53right now. OK, will I have a question for
- 51:55you? I'm listening.
- 51:56So this is a question that somebody asked us on our YouTube
- 52:00page. The question was who is the
- 52:02better guard, prospect Francis Maui Noah or Venga Yoani?
- 52:07Interesting because Maui Noah is not a guard.
- 52:09Right. But there is a lot of talk about
- 52:10him. Moving to guard.
- 52:11I mean, I I do believe that's one of the first things if I
- 52:13have written down for Maui Noah. Oh no, I had that written down
- 52:17about Fano. The answer is and you're saying
- 52:20this, just keep me keep saying his name.
- 52:21Venga Uana. I'm 3 for three on this guy's.
- 52:25Name. You got the first name right
- 52:27that time, but the last name. Was no, I'm getting it right
- 52:29every time. Venga Yoani.
- 52:33That's what I said. What's that?
- 52:36Look, I'm hearing the same thing in my ears.
- 52:39You can't tell me my personal opinion is wrong.
- 52:41My opinion on how to say his name.
- 52:44His name that has a way to say it.
- 52:49So you think just as a guard it's Benga Iwani?
- 52:52Yes, yes. But I don't think you're putting
- 52:54Iwani in the tackle spot. And because you can do both with
- 52:58Mali Noah, that just makes him hire on the board to me.
- 53:02Exactly. And that's that's exactly what I
- 53:04responded with is just as a pure guard, I'm going Iwane.
- 53:09But as a player who has more versatility, it's Maui Noah.
- 53:12Because Maui Noah played tackle in college, but you can move him
- 53:15to the guard, which we see players do that all the time
- 53:18going from college to the NFL, but we don't see players moving
- 53:21from guard in college to tackle in the NFL.
- 53:23So I think that just as a pure guard, you'll want it easily,
- 53:28but as a player with more versatility, it's got to be Maui
- 53:31Noah. Let's just finish with this one
- 53:33player and we'll put him into our rankings and then we can
- 53:35kind of do the rest when Avery comes back.
- 53:37Where would you put Ty Simpson? Do you think Ty Simpson should
- 53:40be drafted in the first round? Yeah, I think the answer is yes,
- 53:44because if you're going to build for the future, then you have to
- 53:47spend first round picks now for my starting players later and
- 53:51and I said on the show here, we all said he's not a starter out
- 53:54in the eights. He's not.
- 53:56You want this is a Jordan Love type prospect where you bring
- 53:58him in, you keep him SAT and then eventually he will start
- 54:02for you as a first round pick. But it's not a this year thing.
- 54:05And so I I do think he's worth a first round pick, but just like
- 54:09a late one with the knowledge that he's not going to be our
- 54:13team's go to guy this year. And it's incredibly high, an
- 54:16incredibly high amount of pressure for these rookies to
- 54:19come in and lead an NFL franchise day one when they were
- 54:23first round pick. I I imagine we see what's his
- 54:27bucket, Fernando Mendoza. I think we see him struggle for
- 54:31a while, maybe even the whole year.
- 54:32It is the Raiders, but he's going to have a hard time
- 54:35getting there and then becoming an established NFL player
- 54:38because it's it's just a different speed of the game.
- 54:41So if you are in the in the mid to late first round and you have
- 54:45a quarterback who is potentially going to retire in the next year
- 54:49and you're the Rams and you want to get a guy in and you want to
- 54:52be, hey, here is your protege. We're not kicking you out.
- 54:56You stay as long as you want. Just know that when you go, we
- 55:01need this guy to do what you can do to some level.
- 55:04Or if you're the Steelers and you've got possibly have Aaron
- 55:07Rodgers for one more year, or if you're I don't even know who,
- 55:13who else has an old quarterback that is going to retire semi
- 55:17soon? Even semi soon, not even like
- 55:19soon, soon like middle guys. It's the Rams for sure.
- 55:24There's not really a lot of old guys.
- 55:26Yeah, it's the Rams and the and maybe the Steelers.
- 55:29Who knows what's going on there, right?
- 55:31I can't really think. There's not a lot of.
- 55:34Really. That old.
- 55:35I mean, we just have to. My Homes is only 30, although
- 55:39he's been in the league for what seems like an eternity.
- 55:46There's a lot of young quarterbacks still, so maybe,
- 55:49maybe not. If if you're not the Rams or the
- 55:51Steelers who have older quarterbacks as you're starters,
- 55:56then maybe it's not worth it because you're not working to
- 55:57move on soon. Or maybe that's the other factor
- 56:00is that you're looking to move on sooner.
- 56:01You're not going to be able to re sign your young quarterback
- 56:04to the contract they're going to want moving forward.
- 56:06Hey, let's bring this guy in on a rookie deal and move on.
- 56:09So it's, it's a part of a situational, obviously you're
- 56:13drafting info prospect, but I I think it is worth it if you're
- 56:17trying to plan for the future and you don't think you can get
- 56:19an an immediate starter in the next couple years.
- 56:23OK, well, just to give you an answer here.
- 56:24Will I look this up? So there's Aaron Rodgers, who is
- 56:2742, and then there is Matthew Stafford, who's 37.
- 56:32The next guy down who you could say is like a legitimate starter
- 56:37right now is Jacoby Percent at 33.
- 56:40And then after that, it's Dak Prescott at 32.
- 56:43So there's not really anybody else aside from those two guys
- 56:47who are like in that range of he's going to retire soon.
- 56:51That's that's really interesting because we had, we just had a,
- 56:54well, maybe not dressed, that's the wrong word.
- 56:55I'm getting kind of old, but it felt like we just had a crop of
- 56:58guys with the Drew Brees, he's in the Hall of Fame.
- 57:02He's retired for more than five years.
- 57:03Peyton Manning, he's in the Hall of Fame.
- 57:05OK, you know what? I'm just talking out of nowhere,
- 57:08but but it felt like it feels like we.
- 57:10Joe Flacco still in the league? Joe Flacco is still in the
- 57:13league. He's just not a starter.
- 57:15He's just the guy who's going to come in and start when the
- 57:17starter gets hurt. Right, true.
- 57:19And and excel at it. Yeah, I know.
- 57:22I I think he. Was 40 by the way.
- 57:24The only way you're drafting Tysons in the first round, in my
- 57:26opinion, is if you're looking for him to start in the first
- 57:28couple years, excuse me, and like the second set of years, a
- 57:31year 234 was the back half of his working contract.
- 57:35But that is because you don't like your current quarterback
- 57:37situation. You know, trust your current
- 57:39quarterback situation or you think it's not your current
- 57:41quarterback situation is not going to play well in two to
- 57:45three years. OK, so let's just rank him.
- 57:48Where would you rank him on the big board?
- 57:50I actually don't hate where he's at right now.
- 57:52Now, the people in front of him might need to move around, but
- 57:56the 2025 to 27 I feel like is the right spot for him.
- 57:59Maybe at 25, I know we haven't ranked, we haven't officially
- 58:03ranked CJ Allen or Omar Cooper Junior yet.
- 58:05And maybe we do that. We put him at 23 with the
- 58:08knowledge that, hey, he's going to get.
- 58:10He's probably going to get moved out.
- 58:11OK, that's fair. Because I don't, I don't think
- 58:14that if the Rams were to draft him at pick 13, the entire world
- 58:19would have the knowledge, the entire NFL fandom world would
- 58:21have the knowledge. There are better players that
- 58:24they could have drafted, but they're drafting for the future.
- 58:27If the if the Steelers pick them at 21/20/19 right in that range,
- 58:34I don't know what pick they have basically, but if they pick them
- 58:36with their first round, pick 22. It doesn't matter if they pick
- 58:39them at that late round. 2021. 21 I say even question first
- 58:43try. It's a she was.
- 58:45Like you want his name? Exactly.
- 58:47I've got that three of them three times anyway, Vegas Umami,
- 58:51obviously. And so if the Cedars take him at
- 58:5421, you're at a point where it's like, well, this is like the
- 58:58right pick. We've got Rodgers for another
- 59:00year. This was the right pick at the
- 59:02right time. It's it doesn't feel like a
- 59:04stretch, doesn't feel like we're reaching.
- 59:07It just is the safe right move. OK.
- 59:10Well, hopefully next week we'll have Avery back with us so we
- 59:14can actually rank the rest of his players.
- 59:17Yeah, we truly don't know anymore.
- 59:18We don't know if he exists even. But it would be nice to have
- 59:22ball number two and four back. And yes, we did order our balls.
- 59:27Naturally. So yeah, we have 37 players on
- 59:31the big board right now, so we need to get all those done
- 59:33because with the NFL draft just a few weeks away, we need to get
- 59:37as many players on the big board as we can and get them in the
- 59:40order that we want them before the draft happens.
- 59:42So we're probably going to be in scouting report mode for the
- 59:44next few weeks moving up to the NFL draft.
- 59:46But that's all we have time for on today's episode, guys.
- 59:48And as always, don't forget to keep your balls played with.
- 59:51We'll see you next time. Also, Mark Davis's haircut still
- 59:55sucks.
