- 0:05Speaker 1: I got just a glimpse of that upper window of
- 0:10Speaker 1: the face of a little girl.
- 0:13Speaker 2: I don't know who lives here.
- 0:14Speaker 3: It's a boy, right?
- 0:15Speaker 4: But I saw the face of a little girl.
- 0:17Speaker 1: In that window just now.
- 0:21Speaker 2: The exact date appears to be lost to time. But
- 0:25Speaker 2: at some point in the mid-1800s, in the dead of night, Dr.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Charles Finney, a medical practitioner, living in Atchison, Kansas, heard
- 0:37Speaker 2: a loud knock on his door. He cautiously opened it
- 0:41Speaker 2: to find a woman, clearly distressed and holding her six-year-old
- 0:46Speaker 2: daughter in her arms. The young girl was in an
- 0:49Speaker 2: incredible amount of pain.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Dr.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Finney realized that the girl's appendix was about to rupture
- 0:57Speaker 2: and quickly took her to his operating room that was
- 1:01Speaker 2: located in the basement of his home. Unfortunately, in his
- 1:05Speaker 2: haste to help the girl, he incorrectly administered the wrong
- 1:10Speaker 2: amount of anaesthetic. The girl died on his operating table,
- 1:14Speaker 2: screaming in pain as he cut into her. This is
- 1:19Speaker 2: the widely spread origin story of one of the most
- 1:22Speaker 2: infamous haunted houses in all of America, the Sally House.
- 1:28Speaker 2: But while it makes for a creepy tale, it most
- 1:32Speaker 2: likely isn't true. Or at least there's no evidence that
- 1:35Speaker 2: it's true. There are some elements that are, though. Charles
- 1:38Speaker 2: Finney was a medical practitioner that lived in the house.
- 1:42Speaker 2: In fact, the house was built some years before the
- 1:44Speaker 2: story is said to take place. By a MC Finney.
- 1:48Speaker 2: The house remained in the possession of the Finney family
- 1:51Speaker 2: for years. And a number of them passed away within
- 1:55Speaker 2: its walls. But there are no records that suggest a
- 1:58Speaker 2: small girl named Sally was ever treated there. Or lived there.
- 2:03Speaker 2: But maybe... These encounters with spirits that so many people
- 2:07Speaker 2: claim to experience aren't the lost souls of the dead
- 2:11Speaker 2: at all. Maybe they are manifestations of something else. In
- 2:21Speaker 2: this episode of the Tape Library, we're going to be
- 2:24Speaker 2: visiting the Sally House and going over the terrifying experiences
- 2:29Speaker 2: of the Pickman family and their shocking violent encounters with
- 2:34Speaker 2: something that appeared to be sharing their home with them.
- 2:39Speaker 2: In the early 90s, Tony and Deborah Pickman moved into
- 2:43Speaker 2: 508 North 2nd Street. What followed was one of the
- 2:48Speaker 2: most well-documented hauntings of all time. A big part of
- 2:52Speaker 2: this was due to the TV series Sightings, who carried
- 2:56Speaker 2: out numerous investigations into what they referred to as the
- 3:01Speaker 2: Heartland Ghost. Because of this, there are visual examples of
- 3:05Speaker 2: many of the phenomena the family encountered during their two
- 3:08Speaker 2: years living in the Sally House. I'll link to the
- 3:11Speaker 2: sightings episode in the description if you want to watch
- 3:14Speaker 2: these clips in full. I'm going to go over some
- 3:16Speaker 2: of the most notable incidents in Deborah and Tony's time
- 3:19Speaker 2: in the home. There are so many encounters they describe.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I strongly recommend delving into some interviews with the couple
- 3:27Speaker 2: if you want to learn even more. But here we go.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Deborah was from Buffalo originally. She's always had an interest
- 3:35Speaker 2: in the paranormal, but never experienced anything personally in her
- 3:39Speaker 2: younger years. The two met in Kansas and bought the
- 3:43Speaker 2: house in Atchison together when they were expecting their first child.
- 3:49Speaker 2: Tony did not have any interest in the paranormal, though
- 3:52Speaker 2: he was raised as a Catholic. It all started fairly innocently.
- 3:59Speaker 2: Everything seemed fine when they moved in, But within a
- 4:02Speaker 2: month of being in the property, they started to hear
- 4:06Speaker 2: odd noises. Lights would flicker or dim. There were strange occurrences,
- 4:11Speaker 2: but nothing jumped out of them as specifically paranormal. Lights
- 4:15Speaker 2: would dim while they were sat there watching TV multiple
- 4:18Speaker 2: times a night. The chains on their ceiling fans would spin,
- 4:22Speaker 2: even when the fan wasn't on, or it would look
- 4:24Speaker 2: like someone was almost flicking them. Again, nothing that they
- 4:29Speaker 2: felt couldn't be explained as the wind or electrical issues.
- 4:33Speaker 2: They contacted the landlord, but could never find any electrical
- 4:36Speaker 2: problems in the house. The baby would wake up often
- 4:41Speaker 2: in the night. Every time he'd fall asleep in his nursery,
- 4:45Speaker 2: he'd almost immediately wake up again crying. Obviously not an
- 4:49Speaker 2: uncommon thing for a young child, but the lack of
- 4:53Speaker 2: sleep quickly started to become a drain on the Pickmans.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Deborah's sister came to visit to help with the sleeping pattern.
- 5:02Speaker 2: She took the baby downstairs and the baby slept through
- 5:04Speaker 2: the night with no issues. The sleep disruptions only seemed
- 5:09Speaker 2: to happen when the baby was alone in the nursery.
- 5:16Speaker 2: One night Tony walked past the nursery and noticed the
- 5:19Speaker 2: light was on, which was strange as the couple had
- 5:22Speaker 2: only just gotten home. sat in the center of the
- 5:25Speaker 2: floor where three of their babies stuffed animals. Position sat
- 5:30Speaker 2: up and in a circle. Tony went back down to
- 5:33Speaker 2: talk to Deborah and her sister, who said they hadn't
- 5:36Speaker 2: moved any toys. So they went back up and looked
- 5:39Speaker 2: for any explanation, but couldn't find anything. They carefully put
- 5:44Speaker 2: the toys back on the shelves, turned the lights out,
- 5:47Speaker 2: and went back downstairs. By the time they'd reached the bottom,
- 5:52Speaker 2: they had heard the lights flick back on, they walked
- 5:55Speaker 2: back up. The teddy bears were back on the floor
- 5:59Speaker 2: with the lights on. This was the first time that
- 6:04Speaker 2: something had happened in the house that the couple could
- 6:06Speaker 2: not explain. Again, they turned out the lights and went
- 6:11Speaker 2: back down. This time the light didn't come back on.
- 6:16Speaker 2: When Debra went back upstairs 15 minutes later, the teddy
- 6:20Speaker 2: bears were on the floor again. in the darkened nursery.
- 6:25Speaker 2: They all stayed in the master bedroom together that night,
- 6:28Speaker 2: with the family dog standing guard and the door tightly closed.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Speaking of their dog, it did not like entering the
- 6:37Speaker 2: nursery and was often found standing in the doorway, barking
- 6:43Speaker 2: at seemingly nothing. From this point on, things started to escalate.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Tony would hear footsteps running up and down the stairs
- 6:53Speaker 2: at night. This happened often, and he was sure it
- 6:57Speaker 2: was just their cats running around. One night after being
- 7:00Speaker 2: kept awake by the running, he went to the stairs
- 7:03Speaker 2: to catch the cats and stop them. But they weren't there.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Tony looked down the dark stairwell and heard the running
- 7:12Speaker 2: quickly approaching him. He then described what he felt was
- 7:16Speaker 2: like a cold wind run through his body. And then
- 7:21Speaker 2: the unmistakable laughter of children. One day Tony was lying
- 7:28Speaker 2: there having an afternoon nap, when suddenly he sat up,
- 7:34Speaker 2: looked Deborah in the eye and said, He's mine. And
- 7:38Speaker 2: then laid back down straight away. This happened early in
- 7:42Speaker 2: the haunting, and at the time Deborah assumed Tony was
- 7:45Speaker 2: having some sort of dream. Another morning the family photos
- 7:49Speaker 2: that were on the walls down the stairs were found
- 7:52Speaker 2: placed upside down on the wall, with the glass cracked
- 7:56Speaker 2: on one of them. Candles would randomly be melted. In
- 8:01Speaker 2: one case the candle hadn't even been unwrapped. It was
- 8:04Speaker 2: still coated in what was now a melted plastic wrapper.
- 8:08Speaker 2: On the candle they saw what appeared to be a
- 8:10Speaker 2: small handprint in the wax. What was interesting was that
- 8:15Speaker 2: the wick was not burned. It was just as if
- 8:18Speaker 2: something hot had been pressed against the wax of the candle.
- 8:23Speaker 2: It wasn't long before the couple started to reach out
- 8:26Speaker 2: for help, which ultimately led to the crew at sightings
- 8:30Speaker 2: visiting the property. While they appeared to be sceptical about
- 8:35Speaker 2: the whole thing to begin with, the team became so
- 8:38Speaker 2: fascinated by the family stories and captured such compelling evidence
- 8:43Speaker 2: that they would return time after time to get updates
- 8:46Speaker 2: on the case. Initially, during the sighting's investigations, the family's
- 8:51Speaker 2: identity was kept hidden, particularly Tony's, who didn't want anyone
- 8:56Speaker 2: to know it was him who was experiencing this. It
- 9:00Speaker 2: was only after numerous investigations by the team that they
- 9:04Speaker 2: were willing to disclose their identity. There would be random
- 9:09Speaker 2: small isolated fires that would appear throughout the house, like
- 9:13Speaker 2: sudden shots of flames that would appear and disappear in
- 9:16Speaker 2: an instance. One time during a family party, a doll
- 9:21Speaker 2: was found on the stairs in flames. The way it
- 9:23Speaker 2: had been burned, it appeared that the fire only affected
- 9:27Speaker 2: specific areas of the doll, almost like the flame had
- 9:31Speaker 2: come from the inside to the out. The damage done
- 9:36Speaker 2: to the Pickman's belongings through these fires were really bizarre.
- 9:40Speaker 2: They weren't seeing uncontrollable fire. The damage appeared to be
- 9:45Speaker 2: extremely targeted, and somehow only able to damage specific parts
- 9:49Speaker 2: of an object. This phenomenon was even captured by the
- 9:53Speaker 2: sightings team during their investigations. Tony became convinced that whatever
- 9:58Speaker 2: was doing this could potentially create a fire that if
- 10:02Speaker 2: unnoticed could burn down the house or even more unsettling
- 10:07Speaker 2: that if whatever this was that was waking up their
- 10:10Speaker 2: baby could set the cot on fire. The family that
- 10:15Speaker 2: lived there before the Pickmans also reported unexplainable fires in
- 10:19Speaker 2: the home including seeing the window frame of their nursery
- 10:23Speaker 2: on fire. Deborah became convinced they were dealing with the
- 10:29Speaker 2: spirit of a little girl who was desperately trying to
- 10:32Speaker 2: get their attention. A suggestion that was backed up by
- 10:37Speaker 2: the mediums the sightings team brought, who claimed they could
- 10:40Speaker 2: see a little girl.
- 10:43Speaker 4: There's a little girl that's standing right there.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Right at the top of the stairs.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Hello?
- 10:52Speaker 1: Hello?
- 10:52Speaker 3: Look, look. Hello?
- 11:01Speaker 2: Can you speak to me?
- 11:02Speaker 1: Sally? Is that your name, Sally?
- 11:05Speaker 3: Sally?
- 11:07Speaker 2: Okay.
- 11:08Speaker 4: The family and our sightings investigative team were amazed that
- 11:12Speaker 4: Peter James had correctly named the entity.
- 11:15Speaker 2: They brought in a psychic to the home, who said
- 11:18Speaker 2: that there was in fact the spirit of a little
- 11:20Speaker 2: girl in the house, and that she just wanted to
- 11:23Speaker 2: be part of the family. More specifically, she said she
- 11:28Speaker 2: wanted to protect the Pickmans' baby son. If you've been
- 11:31Speaker 2: listening to the tape library for a while, you might
- 11:34Speaker 2: notice the unsettling similarity to another famous paranormal case we've
- 11:38Speaker 2: covered here. This is almost exactly what the entity wanted
- 11:43Speaker 2: to do in the Annabelle case. It wanted permission to
- 11:49Speaker 2: be part of their lives. Deborah felt comforted by this
- 11:55Speaker 2: and felt the urge to nurture the spirit that would
- 11:57Speaker 2: later become known as Sally. But for Tony, something about
- 12:03Speaker 2: it didn't feel right to him. He felt uneasy in
- 12:08Speaker 2: his own home. But it seemed Sally was much more
- 12:11Speaker 2: interested in getting Tony's attention and not in a positive way.
- 12:17Speaker 2: One night, Deborah came out of the shower to find
- 12:20Speaker 2: Tony complaining. She bit me. Sure enough, on Tony's leg
- 12:27Speaker 2: was a bite mark. This was the first incident of
- 12:30Speaker 2: whatever was in that house causing physical harm towards Tony.
- 12:36Speaker 2: But it certainly wouldn't be the last. It wasn't long
- 12:39Speaker 2: after this that the scratches would start. Tony would often
- 12:44Speaker 2: find deep red scratch marks on his body. Some would bleed.
- 12:48Speaker 2: Others would be accompanied by sharp pain. Some would appear
- 12:52Speaker 2: without any pain at all. Whatever was in their home
- 12:56Speaker 2: had certainly appeared to take a disliking to Tony Pickman.
- 13:01Speaker 2: Tony came home from his night shift one morning and
- 13:04Speaker 2: got a glass of juice from the kitchen. He turned
- 13:08Speaker 2: around to see a little girl standing at the entrance
- 13:11Speaker 2: to the basement door. She wore what he described as
- 13:15Speaker 2: an old white outfit. The sort of thing a little
- 13:19Speaker 2: girl might have worn to church in the previous century.
- 13:23Speaker 2: She stared at him. She looked terrified. Tony froze. It
- 13:31Speaker 2: was only the realisation that he could partially see through
- 13:34Speaker 2: her that snapped Tony out of his almost trance-like state.
- 13:39Speaker 2: He dropped his glass and ran upstairs to find Deborah.
- 13:44Speaker 2: Tony later drew an image of the girl. Interestingly, a
- 13:49Speaker 2: previous resident of the Sally house claimed they had an
- 13:52Speaker 2: imaginary friend while living in the house as a child.
- 13:57Speaker 2: When they saw Tony's picture, they immediately recognised the girl
- 14:02Speaker 2: as their imaginary friend. She called her Sally. Other times,
- 14:09Speaker 2: Tony saw what he thought was Deborah walking past him
- 14:12Speaker 2: in the hall. It looked exactly like her. except she
- 14:17Speaker 2: appeared to be wearing an old housemaid's outfit with her
- 14:21Speaker 2: hair in a bun. But Tony is adamant that whoever
- 14:25Speaker 2: this was had Deborah's face. He'd follow her into a room,
- 14:30Speaker 2: only for the apparition to disappear. As we've already discussed,
- 14:36Speaker 2: there is no evidence to suggest that there was a
- 14:39Speaker 2: child named Sally who died in that house. Tony saw
- 14:43Speaker 2: more than one apparition in this house. Could whatever is
- 14:47Speaker 2: residing in that house be taken on the form of others?
- 14:52Speaker 2: A small child. Tony's loved ones. To lower their guard.
- 14:59Speaker 2: To seem innocent. Harmless. But deep down its intentions were
- 15:06Speaker 2: much more nefarious. The possibility of this is potentially backed
- 15:10Speaker 2: up by the next encounter Tony had. Tony was now
- 15:16Speaker 2: hearing scratching in the walls when he laid in bed.
- 15:19Speaker 2: He said it often sounded like six or seven people
- 15:22Speaker 2: were inside the walls, whispering, but he could never make
- 15:27Speaker 2: out what was being said. One night he said he
- 15:31Speaker 2: was laying in bed, and the foot of the bed
- 15:34Speaker 2: was a window. He saw what looked like dust particles
- 15:39Speaker 2: blowing past the window, but gradually the particles grew darker
- 15:44Speaker 2: and larger It drifted towards the bed and slowly took
- 15:49Speaker 2: the form of what appeared to be a woman. An
- 15:53Speaker 2: older lady, all dressed in black. She floated towards Tony.
- 16:00Speaker 2: The drawers on either side of the bed were slamming
- 16:03Speaker 2: open and shut. The waterbed that Tony was laying on
- 16:07Speaker 2: was flopping around like crazy. He couldn't scream. The woman
- 16:12Speaker 2: got closer and closer. Her arm shot out and reached
- 16:17Speaker 2: for Tony's throat. The woman yells, I'm gonna, as she
- 16:23Speaker 2: reaches for his neck. Then suddenly Tony saw what looked
- 16:26Speaker 2: like a giant black bird. The woman was gone. All
- 16:31Speaker 2: the furniture stopped rocking instantly. Tony started screaming for Deborah,
- 16:37Speaker 2: desperately trying and failing to open the door. Deborah was
- 16:41Speaker 2: across the hall with the baby. She didn't hear a
- 16:44Speaker 2: thing except for Tony yelling. A case of sleep paralysis?
- 16:48Speaker 2: As an individual incident, it certainly seems to be the case.
- 16:52Speaker 2: But when combined with all the other phenomena taking place
- 16:55Speaker 2: in the house, it becomes a little harder to discount.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Tony was beginning to fear for his sanity. This wasn't
- 17:03Speaker 2: the only nighttime visit of a shape-shifting creature that Tony
- 17:06Speaker 2: would experience. Tony also saw something that appeared to be
- 17:11Speaker 2: the little girl. approaching his bed again in the dead
- 17:14Speaker 2: of night. The girl reached out for him a number
- 17:17Speaker 2: of times, but Tony kept resisting. Suddenly the girl let
- 17:21Speaker 2: out what sounded like a growl. Then it began to
- 17:24Speaker 2: transform into something else. Something on all fours. Hunched over.
- 17:30Speaker 2: With worms hanging off its melted flesh. Each time the
- 17:37Speaker 2: sightings crew would come to visit, the phenomena Tony was
- 17:41Speaker 2: experiencing would get worse. The scratches, the visions, the sounds.
- 17:47Speaker 2: Each visit from the crew would make things worse for Tony.
- 17:51Speaker 2: The crew would check Tony for scratches any time he
- 17:53Speaker 2: was going to be left alone, like if he went
- 17:55Speaker 2: to the bathroom, just to make sure he wasn't doing
- 17:59Speaker 2: them to himself. Many members of the sightings team were
- 18:02Speaker 2: sceptical of the whole thing, but then saw scratches appearing
- 18:07Speaker 2: on Tony right before their eyes.
- 18:10Speaker 4: New welts began to form on Jeff's stomach. Then, I
- 18:16Speaker 4: was shocked to see mysterious welts forming on his forehead.
- 18:21Speaker 2: The initials MC were scratched onto Tony's body on camera,
- 18:25Speaker 2: while the sighting's crew were filming.
- 18:27Speaker 4: We're in control here, so don't... MC!
- 18:35Speaker 2: A strange coincidence, since the house itself was built... By
- 18:39Speaker 2: a Michael C.
- 18:40Speaker 1: Finney.
- 18:41Speaker 2: They apparently have a 9 minute clip. Of a scratch
- 18:44Speaker 2: slowly appearing. On Tony's torso. Just as a warning before
- 18:49Speaker 2: we get into the next section. There are some descriptions
- 18:52Speaker 2: of violent impulses. And more specifically animal cruelty. If you
- 18:57Speaker 2: want to skip this part. Then please do so. Tony
- 19:02Speaker 2: said he turned into a different person. He would hear
- 19:05Speaker 2: voices saying horrible things. Such as telling him to kill Deborah.
- 19:10Speaker 2: In the final months, when Deborah would walk past him,
- 19:14Speaker 2: he'd be overcome with an intense urge to harm her
- 19:16Speaker 2: in some way. An urge to get her out of
- 19:20Speaker 2: the way, as he said. If he left the house,
- 19:24Speaker 2: he felt fine. A dark anger was overtaking him in
- 19:28Speaker 2: this house. He would have vivid dreams of cutting her
- 19:32Speaker 2: throat with a butcher's knife when she would come home
- 19:35Speaker 2: from work. One morning, he woke up full of hateful thoughts.
- 19:41Speaker 2: He went into the kitchen, took out a butcher's knife,
- 19:45Speaker 2: saw their pet cat in the kitchen, and blacked out
- 19:50Speaker 2: later that day he was at his parents house he
- 19:53Speaker 2: returned back to the family home to find the cat
- 19:57Speaker 2: stabbed with a knife and pinned to the kitchen counter
- 20:01Speaker 2: Tony says he has no memory of harming the cat
- 20:04Speaker 2: but is sure he must have done it a fact
- 20:07Speaker 2: that still haunts him to this day This, alongside his
- 20:10Speaker 2: dark thoughts towards Deborah, are something that he's obviously deeply
- 20:14Speaker 2: ashamed of, that he says he speaks about it, to
- 20:16Speaker 2: make people aware just how disturbing hauntings like this can be.
- 20:21Speaker 2: There was a darkness in their home, where literally the
- 20:25Speaker 2: result of a ghost was something more psychological that was
- 20:30Speaker 2: transforming Tony into someone he didn't recognise. Tony did seek
- 20:35Speaker 2: out psychological help, But nothing clinical appeared to be wrong
- 20:39Speaker 2: with him. The only way he could be free of
- 20:41Speaker 2: these violent impulses was to get out of this house.
- 20:48Speaker 1: Probably every one of your television viewers ask is, why
- 20:52Speaker 1: do you stay here? Why don't you just get out?
- 20:57Speaker 1: What holds you there?
- 20:58Speaker 3: Curiosity.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Curiosity. There needs to be more data so that we
- 21:04Speaker 1: can know what exactly this is, what causes it. Why
- 21:08Speaker 1: do these things happen to certain people, certain places, certain times?
- 21:12Speaker 2: Tony tried to talk to Deborah about how bad things
- 21:15Speaker 2: were getting, but she was so excited and fascinated about
- 21:19Speaker 2: the entire thing. She wasn't experiencing any of the negative
- 21:23Speaker 2: aspects of the haunting. She says that her reactions now
- 21:26Speaker 2: don't make any sense to her, but at the time
- 21:29Speaker 2: she was so wrapped up in the entire thing that
- 21:31Speaker 2: she was almost blind to the effects it was having
- 21:35Speaker 2: on her husband. She was completely naive to the very
- 21:38Speaker 2: real danger it appears she was in. One day, Tony
- 21:43Speaker 2: was thrown into the rungs at the top of the stairs,
- 21:46Speaker 2: breaking several of them, as if something was attempting to
- 21:50Speaker 2: throw him over the banister and down the stairs. For
- 21:53Speaker 2: some reason, this was the incident that made Deborah realize
- 21:58Speaker 2: that things weren't right and they needed to leave. Within
- 22:02Speaker 2: three weeks, they were out of the house. People would
- 22:07Speaker 2: ask them how they stayed so long, but they said
- 22:10Speaker 2: they would experience this phenomena, and then it would stop.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Months would go past without anything happening. They'd begin to
- 22:18Speaker 2: doubt themselves, thinking maybe it was all in their heads,
- 22:23Speaker 2: or whatever was there had left. And then it would
- 22:27Speaker 2: start up again. Little waves of paranormal activity, that gradually
- 22:32Speaker 2: became more and more dark and violent. The basement is
- 22:39Speaker 2: said to be a focal point of something within the
- 22:42Speaker 2: Sally House. There is an area in the back where
- 22:45Speaker 2: a number of bricks have been removed, leaving a dark hole.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Tony said he never felt any urge to go down
- 22:53Speaker 2: into the basement and would avoid it as much as possible.
- 22:57Speaker 2: After the Pickmans left, a woman moved into the Sally
- 23:01Speaker 2: House After some time, the landlord was called, and she
- 23:05Speaker 2: had apparently been trashing the house. The landlord evicted the woman.
- 23:10Speaker 2: After that, he visited the property, and discovered in the
- 23:14Speaker 2: basement a number of strange markings and names on the walls.
- 23:17Speaker 2: In the middle of the floor, the woman had painted
- 23:21Speaker 2: a pentagram. Apparently the woman was very solitary, had few
- 23:25Speaker 2: belongings in the house, and it appears was primarily using
- 23:30Speaker 2: the property. for whatever ritual she was attempting to conduct.
- 23:37Speaker 2: Many paranormal researchers and TV shows have investigated the Sally House,
- 23:42Speaker 2: including the popular show Ghost Adventures, in which the host
- 23:45Speaker 2: brought Deborah and Tony Pickman back with them to the house.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Tony claimed that he had heard so many EVPs people
- 23:51Speaker 2: had recorded over the years of the voices of little
- 23:54Speaker 2: children that he began to feel guilty, like maybe there
- 23:59Speaker 2: wasn't something demonic in this house. Maybe they're just lost
- 24:02Speaker 2: children trying to communicate. This led to him returning to
- 24:07Speaker 2: the home. Yet again, Tony experienced a whole host of
- 24:11Speaker 2: violent interactions. With welts appearing on his neck, other guests
- 24:16Speaker 2: experienced scratches and witnessed odd phenomena. Tony isn't alone here.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Many who have visited the Sally House report no matter
- 24:26Speaker 2: how terrifying their experiences might be inside its walls, A
- 24:31Speaker 2: draw to come back. Just something in the back of
- 24:35Speaker 2: their minds that tells them they need to return. But
- 24:39Speaker 2: for what reason? There are countless examples of video, photographic
- 24:45Speaker 2: and audio evidence from the Sally House. The Sally House
- 24:49Speaker 2: has become one of the major tourist destinations for ghost
- 24:52Speaker 2: hunters all across the world. And because of this, there
- 24:56Speaker 2: are so many investigations that have taken place within the property.
- 24:59Speaker 2: What is remarkable is is that so many others appear
- 25:03Speaker 2: to have had experiences that back up some of what
- 25:07Speaker 2: the Pickmans have been talking about. I'm going to leave
- 25:11Speaker 2: you with one specific piece of evidence that was recorded
- 25:14Speaker 2: during an investigation into the Sally House. I try not
- 25:17Speaker 2: to talk about my own personal beliefs on this channel,
- 25:21Speaker 2: but I like to see myself as an optimistic sceptic.
- 25:25Speaker 2: I have no evidence for the existence of ghosts or
- 25:27Speaker 2: anything paranormal, but part of me really hopes it's true. Additionally,
- 25:32Speaker 2: this is a horror channel. I will never knowingly include
- 25:36Speaker 2: any false information in the video, but I do take
- 25:39Speaker 2: things as much as I can at face value, because
- 25:42Speaker 2: I'm telling the stories in the way they were originally reported.
- 25:47Speaker 2: As far as evidence of the supernatural goes, I have
- 25:50Speaker 2: never heard or seen anything that made me go beyond a, hmm,
- 25:55Speaker 2: that's strange. EVPs in particular. While I've heard some really
- 26:01Speaker 2: creepy ones, Part of me always thinks this could be
- 26:04Speaker 2: easily faked, or could just be a strange sound happening
- 26:08Speaker 2: in the distance from a very mundane source. I heard
- 26:12Speaker 2: this clip I'm about to play you two years ago,
- 26:14Speaker 2: and it has never left my mind. The moment I
- 26:18Speaker 2: heard it, I froze in my seat, re-listened to it,
- 26:22Speaker 2: and then played it to anyone I knew who would
- 26:24Speaker 2: be interested. The podcast Astonishing Legends carried out an investigation
- 26:29Speaker 2: into the Sally House back in 2018 Now it's worth
- 26:33Speaker 2: pointing out this podcast, if you're not familiar, generally doesn't
- 26:37Speaker 2: do this sort of in-person investigating. They do deep dives
- 26:40Speaker 2: into all sorts of unexplained stories and try to prove
- 26:44Speaker 2: or disprove it as best they can in their usually
- 26:48Speaker 2: grounded and level-headed manner. They are not a ghost hunting show,
- 26:52Speaker 2: nor do they overly dramatize their stories. I strongly recommend
- 26:56Speaker 2: their series on the Sally House if you are interested.
- 26:58Speaker 2: It goes for hours, covering the history, interviews with the
- 27:03Speaker 2: Pickmans and others involved in the house, as well as
- 27:06Speaker 2: breaking down their own investigation and even attempting to debunk
- 27:10Speaker 2: the evidence they themselves collected. On July 20th, 2018, they
- 27:16Speaker 2: placed an audio recorder, a Panasonic RRDR60, in the nursery
- 27:22Speaker 2: room at the Sally house. The recorder is set up
- 27:26Speaker 2: so it only records when it hears a noise. They
- 27:29Speaker 2: placed the recorder in the room, quietly left, and then
- 27:33Speaker 2: returned a few moments later. No audio effects have been
- 27:36Speaker 2: added to this file beyond an increase in volume. Many
- 27:40Speaker 2: who have listened to this recording have experienced traumatic sensations.
- 27:45Speaker 2: So please do so at your own risk.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Okay, file 10, I'm putting this down. I'm gonna leave
- 27:53Speaker 3: this here for about five minutes.
- 27:56Speaker 4: If there's anything you wanna say, any message you would
- 27:58Speaker 4: like to share with the.
- 27:59Speaker 2: World, leave it on this recorder. And we will carry it.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Leaving now, closing the door.
- 28:05Speaker 3: No one else is in this room at this time.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Thank you. Thank you. Coming back into the room. Gonna
- 29:28Speaker 3: take the recorder. Thank you for your time. time.
- 29:43Speaker 2: Wishing you peace.
