- 0:08Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites, the podcast presented by BET three
- 0:13Speaker 1: sixty five. We are part of the Action Network. Today
- 0:18Speaker 1: is our NFL preseason Best Bets episode. I think the
- 0:25Speaker 1: two people I've name checked the most in our division
- 0:30Speaker 1: previews running up to this episode have been Chris Raybon,
- 0:36Speaker 1: my nemesis, and Brandon Anderson, who did exemplary preview work
- 0:42Speaker 1: covering everything best offenses, best offensive lines, best quarterbacks.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Those are our two guests today.
- 0:51Speaker 1: They will be joining me and my co host, my bff,
- 0:55Speaker 1: my companion, my compadre professional better back in the Garden State,
- 1:01Speaker 1: Simon Hunter.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Eto so him in, Hey Chad, how are we doing?
- 1:06Speaker 2: Brother dude?
- 1:08Speaker 1: I even though like nothing changes for me, I'm generally
- 1:12Speaker 1: glad to have you back in my uh in my
- 1:16Speaker 1: time zone.
- 1:18Speaker 3: That next to one of us there is.
- 1:20Speaker 4: It's it's truly shocking flying into Philadelphia coming from Hawaii.
- 1:25Speaker 4: I mean, I love Philly, but holy shit is an
- 1:27Speaker 4: ugly place. So it was it was truly shocking, Like
- 1:30Speaker 4: flying in, I was like, oh my god, I'm back
- 1:33Speaker 4: here among all these peasants.
- 1:34Speaker 1: So yeah, you know what, I disagree with you about
- 1:37Speaker 1: Philly even though you're a native, you know, my kid
- 1:40Speaker 1: goes to Drexel, and Drexel has built up that campus.
- 1:44Speaker 1: It's it's lovely, and there is an area called Drexel Park.
- 1:47Speaker 1: He doesn't live too far from there. And this the
- 1:50Speaker 1: view of downtown over the over the train station, across
- 1:57Speaker 1: the school kill Downtown. It's beautiful, Simon. And when the
- 2:00Speaker 1: sun is setting, it's top notch gorgeous.
- 2:04Speaker 4: Yeah, it's Philadelphia, represent it's beautiful from afar. But once
- 2:08Speaker 4: you get close, go walk those streets, Chad, and let
- 2:10Speaker 4: me know how beautiful Philadelphia is as someone that lives
- 2:14Speaker 4: and goes to Philadelphia all the time.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Here's how I know. Here's how I know we are
- 2:19Speaker 1: ready for the season.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Okay, here's how I know.
- 2:22Speaker 1: I Simon and I we got a little bit of
- 2:25Speaker 1: a special treat sort of a favorites special video that
- 2:31Speaker 1: we're going to be doing during the season that is

- 2:56Speaker 1: two because Simon and I are going to be doing
- 2:58Speaker 1: something based on the ALT twenty two during the season.
- 3:01Speaker 1: And I slacked Simon last night asking him a question
- 3:04Speaker 1: about how to access All twenty two, and Simon's response.
- 3:10Speaker 2: Was classic, hold on, here we.
- 3:12Speaker 1: Go, How the hell do I get access to this
- 3:16Speaker 1: All twenty two film through the NFL website?
- 3:20Speaker 2: And he goes, I made a quick video for you.
- 3:24Speaker 2: I'm drunk and I can do it. I believe in you.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Yeah, that's how I'm coming into the show. People.
- 3:32Speaker 4: I was out at a bar and I took the
- 3:33Speaker 4: time to make a screen wrap video just in the
- 3:35Speaker 4: chat how to click on a link.
- 3:37Speaker 1: And I texted a buddy of mine at the NFL
- 3:38Speaker 1: this morning, I'm like, do I need a PhD to
- 3:40Speaker 1: figure out how to access NFL Plus Premium?
- 3:43Speaker 4: Once you figured it out, though, it's easy. But I
- 3:45Speaker 4: would say to people, I'm not here to promote products.
- 3:47Speaker 4: We're not getting anything for but it's a pretty good
- 3:50Speaker 4: deal if you're into watching film and replay of games. Yeah,
- 3:54Speaker 4: NFL pre paired up with what is a YouTube TV,
- 3:57Speaker 4: and you get red Zone all twenty two, all the
- 4:01Speaker 4: games on replay.
- 4:04Speaker 3: I think, what'd you do the one that's seventy nine
- 4:05Speaker 3: ninety nine?
- 4:06Speaker 5: Yes?
- 4:07Speaker 4: Yeah, So it's like a little deal they're doing right now.
- 4:10Speaker 4: You can save twenty bucks. And again, if you're just
- 4:13Speaker 4: like us, you're crazy about football, it's worth it.
- 4:15Speaker 6: Hey, Chad, if you work for Action Network, you know
- 4:18Speaker 6: you get that for free, right, just hit me up.
- 4:20Speaker 5: I got you with just a free subscription.
- 4:24Speaker 1: Chris Raybon coming in before you've even officially introduced him.
- 4:27Speaker 5: Search your emails, bro. Honestly, I told you, not.
- 4:31Speaker 1: Only do I know we get it, Not only do
- 4:34Speaker 1: I know we get it, I'm fairly certain I signed
- 4:37Speaker 1: off on everybody getting it, and I last night was
- 4:40Speaker 1: doing the work, and like, I just didn't have the
- 4:42Speaker 1: patience to wait until today to start slacking people because
- 4:45Speaker 1: I'm benevolent like that. I don't want to bother people
- 4:47Speaker 1: late in the evening here. But let's get Let's get
- 4:50Speaker 1: to work, all right, Simon. As a reminder, the Favorites

- 5:18Speaker 1: Do you have an update on the contest? I have
- 5:20Speaker 1: mentioned many many times over the past few weeks?
- 5:23Speaker 7: I sure do.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Is it ready?
- 5:26Speaker 7: The contest is not quite ready. It is so so
- 5:30Speaker 7: so close.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Not yet, but.
- 5:32Speaker 7: It will almost certainly be ready in time for Thursday's episode.
- 5:37Speaker 1: What is the name of our amazing never before done
- 5:43Speaker 1: contest going to be?
- 5:45Speaker 7: The official name will be the Favorites Podcast one hundred
- 5:48Speaker 7: thousand dollars Pro Football Pick'am Contest presented by Baut three
- 5:53Speaker 7: sixty five or just the Favorites Podcast Contest for sure?
- 5:58Speaker 1: Are you telling me we are giving away? We are
- 6:01Speaker 1: giving away one hundred thousand dollars?
- 6:05Speaker 5: No, we're not.
- 6:06Speaker 7: What do you mean we're actually gonna give away one
- 6:08Speaker 7: hundred and twenty thousand dollars?
- 6:10Speaker 3: What?
- 6:11Speaker 7: But one hundred thousand just was a nice round number.
- 6:13Speaker 2: It's true.
- 6:14Speaker 1: We're playing to semantics here. We're giving away one hundred
- 6:17Speaker 1: and twenty thousand dollars. Tell the good people what it
- 6:20Speaker 1: will cost to play in this contest.
- 6:23Speaker 7: It will be entirely free to play.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Check.
- 6:26Speaker 1: We are giving away one hundred and twenty thousand dollars
- 6:29Speaker 1: for free to listeners and watchers of this podcast in
- 6:33Speaker 1: a contest. Who's getting paid? Which people? Which of the
- 6:37Speaker 1: lucky listeners are getting paid?
- 6:39Speaker 7: We'll be paying out lots of people. The grand prize
- 6:42Speaker 7: winner will get forty thousand dollars, second gets ten thousand,
- 6:47Speaker 7: but the entire top ten at the end of the
- 6:50Speaker 7: year we'll finish in the money.
- 6:52Speaker 1: That's not all, though, is it, Matt Mitchell, Because those
- 6:54Speaker 1: aren't the only people getting paid.
- 6:57Speaker 6: No.
- 6:57Speaker 7: Oh, well, we'll also have weekly prizes. You can vet
- 7:00Speaker 7: your ass on that.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Well.
- 7:02Speaker 7: We'll be paying the top five finishers every single week.
- 7:06Speaker 7: They will win cash prizes as well, with a fifteen
- 7:09Speaker 7: one hundred dollars cash prize for first place every week.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Unreal, unreal that we'll be doing this.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Will people be picking games?
- 7:20Speaker 7: Yes, you just have to pick five games against the spread,
- 7:23Speaker 7: a pretty standard picking contest, plus a very simple weekly tiebreaker,
- 7:28Speaker 7: that's it.
- 7:29Speaker 2: Who can play right now?
- 7:32Speaker 7: Looks like we're finalizing the legalies right now, but you
- 7:35Speaker 7: have to be a legal US resident. You need to
- 7:38Speaker 7: be twenty one or older when you sign up, and
- 7:41Speaker 7: it appears that there will be three or four states
- 7:44Speaker 7: where a contest like this is not allowed for residents,
- 7:47Speaker 7: but we'll know those dates for sure by Thursday when
- 7:50Speaker 7: we go live.
- 7:51Speaker 1: All right, how can we keep people informed? How can
- 7:53Speaker 1: they learn more?
- 7:54Speaker 7: Jaied, You're never going to believe this, but the best
- 7:56Speaker 7: place to learn all of the ins and outs is
- 7:59Speaker 7: right here on the Favorites podcast presented by BET three
- 8:02Speaker 7: sixty five. We'll have all the information on how to
- 8:05Speaker 7: sign up, what the deadline is, the gameplay, the bye weeks,
- 8:08Speaker 7: the strategy, the official rules, all that stuff, and of course,
- 8:11Speaker 7: as a reminder the show, we'll have new episodes every Sunday, Tuesday,
- 8:16Speaker 7: and Thursday starting NFL Week one.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Look, Simon, I know we want to get to Brandon
- 8:22Speaker 1: and raybon I do, honestly, and I appreciate them sitting
- 8:25Speaker 1: through our spiel here, but this is like the dream
- 8:29Speaker 1: come true. Right when we started doing this podcast three
- 8:32Speaker 1: or four years ago, we were picking five games against
- 8:35Speaker 1: the spread in a big money contest, and that was
- 8:39Speaker 1: sort of the spine for the whole show. We're going
- 8:42Speaker 1: through the whole slate. On Tuesday, we're narrowing down the games.
- 8:45Speaker 1: We get a little bit closer. On Thursday, we're going
- 8:48Speaker 1: back and forth trying to convince each other come to
- 8:50Speaker 1: a consensus.
- 8:51Speaker 2: We're putting the picks in on Sunday.
- 8:53Speaker 1: Our dream was always how can we do it with
- 8:55Speaker 1: everybody who's listening to the show. The fact we get
- 8:58Speaker 1: to do this now is fucking insane. Thank you to
- 9:02Speaker 1: Bed three sixs five. Thank you to Matt Mitchell for
- 9:05Speaker 1: getting this going like and staying on it. How lucky
- 9:09Speaker 1: are we, Chad?
- 9:10Speaker 4: I mean, how every show you tell the people we
- 9:12Speaker 4: love them. How is there a greater way to show
- 9:14Speaker 4: these people how much we love them?
- 9:15Speaker 3: Give them away one hunderd and twenty K.
- 9:18Speaker 4: I mean, I would love to find a show that
- 9:20Speaker 4: can go above sixty percent two OT the last three
- 9:23Speaker 4: years and gives me one hundred K. I mean, if
- 9:25Speaker 4: there's a show out there other than us, I don't
- 9:27Speaker 4: then exists, Chad, I really don't. So Yeah, I've been
- 9:30Speaker 4: telling everyone I know about this contest. It's like, dude,
- 9:34Speaker 4: get your wives to sign up, get your kids to
- 9:36Speaker 4: sign up, or I know there's an age limit, but yeah,
- 9:39Speaker 4: it's how do you not play? It's free money, and
- 9:42Speaker 4: we talk all the time. You don't need to be
- 9:43Speaker 4: the best, right You don't need to be a pro
- 9:45Speaker 4: to win these contests. You just need to have a
- 9:47Speaker 4: good read on the season.
- 9:48Speaker 3: And stay hot.
- 9:49Speaker 4: And that's that's the coolest part is it takes zero
- 9:52Speaker 4: dollars to sign up. You have a chance at first
- 9:54Speaker 4: place forty thousand dollars.
- 9:56Speaker 1: Chet goddamn, so good, so freaking good. Raybon and Brandon
- 10:03Speaker 1: are a little bit jealous right now.
- 10:05Speaker 2: I can sign up.
- 10:06Speaker 1: In their face, they can sign up.
- 10:09Speaker 3: I don't know this damn company. Better sign up.
- 10:13Speaker 1: Raybon was so freaking hot last year he might run
- 10:16Speaker 1: away with this thing. Meanwhile, Brandon Anderson h is so
- 10:21Speaker 1: good at the Futures Awards, at the Futures Bets. His podcast,
- 10:25Speaker 1: his Action Network podcast previewing Futures Bets is out now.
- 10:31Speaker 1: It's brilliant stuff, guys. Thanks for sticking around. Hi Brandon,
- 10:36Speaker 1: Hi Chris, Hello.
- 10:38Speaker 8: I waited my turn, unlike Raybon, who had to jump
- 10:41Speaker 8: in earlier and give away free subscriptions to you. Here
- 10:44Speaker 8: I am, I'm I'm waited patiently. I'm ready to give
- 10:46Speaker 8: out some winners.
- 10:47Speaker 2: Hi, Chris, hey, Jed.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Today we are going to talk about Brandon's and Raybon's
- 10:56Speaker 1: their top plays before the season kicks off next Thursday.
- 10:59Speaker 1: Plus Simon and I are going to recap the ones
- 11:01Speaker 1: we love the most. Simon, I feel like I've been
- 11:05Speaker 1: trying harder than I ever have on this podcast. I've
- 11:07Speaker 1: been more focused. I've been researching more. I've been spending
- 11:11Speaker 1: more time thinking about what we're going to say. I
- 11:13Speaker 1: have so many notes in our script right now about
- 11:16Speaker 1: my favorite bets.
- 11:17Speaker 2: Let me scroll down.
- 11:18Speaker 4: Simon, that's like, yeah, I've been taking it easy these
- 11:20Speaker 4: last couple of years.
- 11:21Speaker 3: This year, I'm all in.
- 11:24Speaker 2: I didn't say.
- 11:25Speaker 1: I didn't say I've been taking it easy. I said
- 11:27Speaker 1: I've been working harder. I didn't know how much harder
- 11:30Speaker 1: I could work. I challenged myself and I said, I said,
- 11:34Speaker 1: you know what, I want to see how hard I
- 11:36Speaker 1: can go. I want to see if I can be
- 11:38Speaker 1: even better at doing what I do my first best bet.
- 11:41Speaker 1: I want to get Simon's reaction. I want to get raybound.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I want to get Brandon, Simon, you and I love
- 11:47Speaker 1: this one. Last year Trevor Lawrence to leave the league
- 11:49Speaker 1: in touchdown passes thirty to one.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Let me give you my reasoning.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Last year twenty five regular season touchdown passes, right, Sixteen
- 11:56Speaker 1: of those came in the latter half of the season,
- 11:58Speaker 1: four multi touchdown games in the latter half, plus that
- 12:00Speaker 1: epic comeback against the Chargers. Remember last year we talked
- 12:04Speaker 1: about this. He was missing receivers in red zone situations,
- 12:07Speaker 1: lacking touch, lacking accuracy. Improved as the year went on,
- 12:11Speaker 1: playing a division with terrible d allions not.
- 12:14Speaker 2: Going to get a lot of pressure.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Fourteen of their games played in places where you can
- 12:18Speaker 1: expect good weather.
- 12:19Speaker 2: Or in a dome. Thirty to one.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Any one of you can respond, Simon, I'll start with
- 12:25Speaker 1: you and then you can give me your best bet.
- 12:27Speaker 2: But first, how do you like my best bet? Trevor
- 12:29Speaker 2: Lawren's thirty to one the league in touchdown passes?
- 12:32Speaker 4: You know anything better than twenty five to one? I'm like,
- 12:34Speaker 4: let's do it.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Why not?
- 12:35Speaker 4: If you're going to do a future and lock your
- 12:36Speaker 4: money up for six months, at least it's got good
- 12:39Speaker 4: odds here, and there's a scenario. Right, we talked they're
- 12:42Speaker 4: one of the easiest divisions, Right, that's a big factor
- 12:45Speaker 4: when you're a factoring in that they're a division that
- 12:47Speaker 4: they will be able to move the ball, and then
- 12:49Speaker 4: you're adding Calvin Ridley's right, so it's your two in
- 12:51Speaker 4: an offense and you're getting a huge upgrade at the
- 12:53Speaker 4: why receiver position.
- 12:55Speaker 3: And even Travis eat the end.
- 12:56Speaker 4: I think the fact that you know, there was a
- 12:58Speaker 4: lot of hype about this kid Tank, the number two
- 13:01Speaker 4: running back. He hit a fumble inside the red zone
- 13:03Speaker 4: and now it might just be etn Show in the
- 13:05Speaker 4: red zone, which is a big upgrade because again they
- 13:07Speaker 4: can use in to catch the ball in the red zone.
- 13:09Speaker 4: So it's another benefit. I would say, you know, if
- 13:13Speaker 4: we're talking good odds, that's a good number, Chad. Anything
- 13:16Speaker 4: above thirty to one, I think is a good number
- 13:17Speaker 4: for Trevor to lead the league, just because we're ready
- 13:20Speaker 4: to talk about we're one of those guys where we
- 13:22Speaker 4: think he should keep excelling. So at that number, that's
- 13:24Speaker 4: a good price.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Brandon be a hater.
- 13:30Speaker 8: I am a bit of a hater on the Jaguars.
- 13:32Speaker 8: I'll explain why with my Houston Texans love a team
- 13:35Speaker 8: I'm all in on this year. I don't mind the bet, though.
- 13:37Speaker 8: I think with Jacksonville the reason I'm hesitating on them
- 13:41Speaker 8: is because of everything that's not named Trevor Lawrence. I
- 13:43Speaker 8: don't like the offensive line. I don't trust the defense.
- 13:46Speaker 8: I think that the defensive lines on the other teams
- 13:49Speaker 8: in division are actually a little better than maybe you're
- 13:51Speaker 8: giving credit. But if Jacksonville is good, Trevor Lawrence is
- 13:54Speaker 8: gonna be the reason why. And there certainly is a
- 13:57Speaker 8: path where Jacksonville, with a soft division off schedule, Trevor
- 14:01Speaker 8: Lawrence breakout suddenly their twelve thirteen wins. If that happened,
- 14:05Speaker 8: it's because Trevor Lawrence had another huge step forward, and
- 14:08Speaker 8: we've seen effectively this is basically a sophomore year, right
- 14:11Speaker 8: like Urban Meyer Goodbye. That year never happened. So to me,
- 14:16Speaker 8: the notes you had about improvement last year, that makes
- 14:18Speaker 8: sense because they're basically like, yeah, he was a rookie,
- 14:21Speaker 8: and rookies improved in the second half, and usually they
- 14:24Speaker 8: improve a lot more the next year. So I think
- 14:26Speaker 8: if we think of framing him that way, he looks
- 14:29Speaker 8: like the guy to kind of step into that Burrow
- 14:32Speaker 8: Allen Mix at the top of the AFC. I don't
- 14:35Speaker 8: mind playing the Jaguars high end outcome, so I think
- 14:37Speaker 8: taking a longer shot future is a good way to
- 14:39Speaker 8: do it.
- 14:40Speaker 1: Ray Bon, I'm going to give you so much love
- 14:42Speaker 1: for one of the bets you wrote about in Events
- 14:46Speaker 1: of the Season. I don't want that to influence whether
- 14:49Speaker 1: or not you should compliment me from making this choice.
- 14:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:59Speaker 6: No, I actually like Trevor Lawrence upside bets because it
- 15:03Speaker 6: kind of goes into what Brandon talked about. I think
- 15:06Speaker 6: there are a lot of shaky units on this Jaguars team.
- 15:10Speaker 6: The one that is not is the skill positions with Lawrence,
- 15:13Speaker 6: Ridley Kirk, Zay Jones, Evan Ingram and etn And so
- 15:19Speaker 6: I think they're gonna be in a lot of shootouts,
- 15:21Speaker 6: and that's what's gonna get you to allege leading passing touchdowns.
- 15:25Speaker 6: And I think he double what He doubles his passing
- 15:27Speaker 6: touchdowns from year one to year two, so you know,
- 15:29Speaker 6: there's certainly the possibility in year three that he does
- 15:34Speaker 6: he takes another step forward.
- 15:36Speaker 5: And I think this team's gonna be a lot of shooters.
- 15:37Speaker 6: The only tough part of it is they do have
- 15:41Speaker 6: four games against the Texans and the Coast and then
- 15:45Speaker 6: you know, another two against the Titans.
- 15:47Speaker 5: So like, in these division games.
- 15:49Speaker 6: Are they gonna be low scoring or are the Jaguars
- 15:52Speaker 6: gonna be forced to put up some points?
- 15:54Speaker 5: That's the only thing that might hold him back.
- 15:56Speaker 6: But outside of that, I mean, that's it's actually the
- 15:58Speaker 6: perfect environment for for a guy to lead the weekend.
- 16:01Speaker 2: Double, by the way, So that's kind of great for
- 16:05Speaker 2: this year. That's what I mean. I think we're gonna
- 16:12Speaker 2: have to get to and maybe what.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Josh Allen, I need that kind of all right, Simon,
- 16:17Speaker 1: give me one of your best bets.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Yeah, it's it's gonna go against what these are going
- 16:22Speaker 4: to talk about later maybe a little bit, but I'm
- 16:24Speaker 4: all in on the Saints Dad divisional odds. To me,
- 16:27Speaker 4: it's it's the best number of all the teams where
- 16:29Speaker 4: they're in a division where it's all these young teams
- 16:32Speaker 4: that are just kind of thrown together at this point
- 16:33Speaker 4: right there are a lot of inexperienced quarterbacks and you
- 16:36Speaker 4: have a Derek Carr coming off his worst season as
- 16:38Speaker 4: a pro in a new offense with a ton of
- 16:41Speaker 4: new toys, and I think we had. I don't know
- 16:46Speaker 4: when we had the luck rankings, but it might have
- 16:47Speaker 4: been two weeks ago. They talked about the Saints were
- 16:49Speaker 4: the top three unluckiest team in all football last season,
- 16:52Speaker 4: and that's another reason why we like them just to
- 16:55Speaker 4: be more lucky this upcoming season.
- 16:56Speaker 3: Where they talked about that that.
- 16:58Speaker 4: Projects out where easy schedule, veteran quarterback and they should
- 17:03Speaker 4: have good luck on their side.
- 17:04Speaker 3: Were last year they had bad injury luck.
- 17:05Speaker 4: I mean they had a couple of games where you
- 17:08Speaker 4: know they're starting a tight end at quarterback and Jamis Winston.
- 17:10Speaker 3: It was just a real mix mash.
- 17:13Speaker 4: Of players last year where I think Derek Carr, we
- 17:15Speaker 4: don't need him be top ten, right if he comes in,
- 17:17Speaker 4: he's top fifteen, and Michael Thomas can get back to
- 17:19Speaker 4: what he was and Kamara comes back after week three.
- 17:22Speaker 4: I mean, come on, that's such a high powered team.
- 17:24Speaker 4: So there's not many teams I bet really Chalky on
- 17:27Speaker 4: the heavy and at this point my biggest bet division
- 17:31Speaker 4: Odswiser of the Saints.
- 17:33Speaker 1: All Right, I want to hold off on Raybon and
- 17:36Speaker 1: Brandon's response to that, because I know we're going to
- 17:40Speaker 1: do a lot of Falcons talk and one of my bet.
- 17:43Speaker 1: One of my favorite bets I stole from Raybon is
- 17:49Speaker 1: also Falcons focus. So there's going to be good somehow.
- 17:54Speaker 3: We can how much NFC South we can talk?
- 17:56Speaker 1: Yeah, Like, I don't know how we're going to how
- 17:58Speaker 1: this ended up being a Falcon in the NFC South podcast,
- 18:01Speaker 1: But there's gonna be a lot of conversation about that.
- 18:03Speaker 2: And I throw another one out here and a couple
- 18:06Speaker 2: other ones.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Jalen Carter defensive Rookie of the Year seven to one,
- 18:10Speaker 1: bet three six five great odds. He's blowing up Camp Simon.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I think you agree with me on that, Brandon.
- 18:17Speaker 3: I like.
- 18:19Speaker 1: You may have talked about that on the podcast. I
- 18:20Speaker 1: haven't heard it yet. But here's another one.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Of my big bets.
- 18:25Speaker 1: Bill's Niners to reach the Super Bowl. I think it's
- 18:28Speaker 1: about thirty something to one, maybe thirty five to one.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Evan Abrams, our crack researcher, has a stat nine of
- 18:37Speaker 1: the past ten Super Bowl winners started the season at
- 18:40Speaker 1: least at less than twelve to one. So I went
- 18:44Speaker 1: through all the matchups and I decided the Niners defense
- 18:49Speaker 1: reigning Defensive Player of the Year, top three defensive line,
- 18:53Speaker 1: a brilliant coach.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Let's assume Brock Purty is better.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Great skill position players, positionless football, Josh Allen, you removed
- 19:03Speaker 1: from day ball, more comfortable, elbow is healed, defensive line improved.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Bill's Niners. That's my matchup in the Super Bowl. Longish odds.
- 19:14Speaker 1: Respond Simon.
- 19:16Speaker 4: I'm gonna be all anti forty nine Ers all season, Chad.
- 19:20Speaker 3: It's just an easy position to take of. This is
- 19:23Speaker 3: how football does it, right.
- 19:24Speaker 4: It's this team that last year they got close, They
- 19:27Speaker 4: were so close, right, They brought in a rookie. He
- 19:29Speaker 4: won eighth straight games. Now they've turned around to turn
- 19:31Speaker 4: the keys to a Ferrari over to this seventh round rookie.
- 19:35Speaker 4: That a whole offseason. All these defensive coordinators, I mean,
- 19:39Speaker 4: I'm talking about the geniuses of football had now film
- 19:42Speaker 4: on this kid to develop against him. It's I got
- 19:45Speaker 4: a bad feeling about this forty nine Ers team, and
- 19:49Speaker 4: the fact that Nick Bosa still isn't in camp just
- 19:51Speaker 4: adds to I mean, me and you already love Pittsburgh
- 19:53Speaker 4: Week one, I mean, is that not a gift? Pittsburgh
- 19:55Speaker 4: plus three against Brock Purdy coming in with all this drama,
- 19:59Speaker 4: how can that not have been the weirdest QB room
- 20:01Speaker 4: this whole summer, and you know, to me, I can't
- 20:06Speaker 4: believe they're doing it. The money makes sense, right when
- 20:09Speaker 4: you look at the money, the fact they're paying this
- 20:10Speaker 4: kid eight hundred k nine hundred k over the next
- 20:12Speaker 4: like a couple of seasons. It's a smart move if
- 20:15Speaker 4: he does work out to what Shanahan's looking for. Shanaan's
- 20:18Speaker 4: looking for this kid to be another Jimmy garoppolo. He's
- 20:20Speaker 4: never had another Jimmy, right, We've seen it. The only
- 20:23Speaker 4: time he's had success is with Jimmy as I head coach.
- 20:25Speaker 4: So to me, I'll go Cairor to it. Of they're
- 20:28Speaker 4: at good numbers to fade them to miss the playoffs.
- 20:30Speaker 4: They're at a good number to take either the Seahawks
- 20:32Speaker 4: or the Rams in this division, and they have a
- 20:34Speaker 4: nice win total taken underwhere they might figure it out
- 20:37Speaker 4: right with Brock, But it might be a little too
- 20:39Speaker 4: late because I just think it's gonna be one of
- 20:41Speaker 4: those things where last year was nice because he wasn't thinking.
- 20:44Speaker 4: He'll be thinking this year it's gonna be a lot
- 20:46Speaker 4: different than it was last week. He just stepped into
- 20:48Speaker 4: that offense. So yeah, for me, this is what pros do.
- 20:52Speaker 4: We're the negative news guys where everyone's projecting forty nine
- 20:56Speaker 4: ers number two team and the NFC they're the best.
- 20:58Speaker 4: They're gonna make a super Bowl, and I'm telling you
- 21:01Speaker 4: to bet them than miss the playoffs.
- 21:02Speaker 3: Chat. It's not fun, but this is this is how
- 21:04Speaker 3: we do it.
- 21:05Speaker 6: This is funny because I agree with Simon, but for
- 21:09Speaker 6: like completely different reasons. So I think that this team
- 21:13Speaker 6: is more fragile than it's been. You got, you know,
- 21:16Speaker 6: the whole the interior offensive line is pretty unestablished. You know,
- 21:21Speaker 6: you got a new right tackle who's had five pro starts.
- 21:23Speaker 6: Trent Williams is thirty five, Bosa is not in camp.
- 21:26Speaker 6: You got a new defensive coordinator. Your cornerback depth is shaky,
- 21:32Speaker 6: like all those things I think are gonna like. Party
- 21:36Speaker 6: to me, actually is better than Jimmy G. Because he
- 21:39Speaker 6: could do everything that Jimmy G could do, except like
- 21:42Speaker 6: when Jimmy G's first read isn't immediately open, he does
- 21:45Speaker 6: this weird hitch and then he still just throws it
- 21:48Speaker 6: and it's like this tight window throwing. All forty nine
- 21:50Speaker 6: er fans just want to pull their hair out, whereas
- 21:51Speaker 6: Party can actually like buy an extra second or two
- 21:54Speaker 6: and like, you know, move around and make more things
- 21:56Speaker 6: happen off schedule. So I think that party is not
- 21:59Speaker 6: gonna be the but like, look at this team. They
- 22:02Speaker 6: get hurt every year and here's the here's the kicker.
- 22:05Speaker 6: And this is why I ultimately do agree with Simon.
- 22:07Speaker 6: Six years Kyle Shanahan has been a coach out of
- 22:10Speaker 6: San Francisco forty nine ers as much success as they've had,
- 22:13Speaker 6: what is it, two conference championships, another Super Bowl appearance? Uh,
- 22:17Speaker 6: you know, two appearances. I mean in a conference championship.
- 22:20Speaker 6: They've never gone over their win total in back to
- 22:22Speaker 6: back seasons. They've never won the division in back to
- 22:25Speaker 6: back seasons. Like this team just always finds a way
- 22:29Speaker 6: to like revert back to the mean. I think Dallas
- 22:31Speaker 6: is very very close to the forty nine ers to
- 22:35Speaker 6: where I'm not even putting them like, oh, they're top
- 22:37Speaker 6: two definitely, Like I think, you know, a few weeks
- 22:40Speaker 6: into the season, we could be, oh, the cowboys are
- 22:42Speaker 6: cowboys in the Eagles, not the forty nine ers in
- 22:43Speaker 6: the Eagles.
- 22:44Speaker 1: All Right, So I'm gonna take that back and I'll
- 22:46Speaker 1: talk about my next best bet when we talk about
- 22:49Speaker 1: the Atlanta Falcons, Simon, give me one more best bet
- 22:52Speaker 1: before we start peppering Brandon and raybound.
- 22:56Speaker 4: So this is a new one for me, and I
- 22:58Speaker 4: can't say the name of the book, but it's the
- 22:59Speaker 4: only book that has Pittsburgh sixty to one super Bowl
- 23:03Speaker 4: futures and it's about Kenny taking that in year two.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Step we talk all the time chat.
- 23:08Speaker 4: I took a lot of heat when I got back
- 23:10Speaker 4: here to Jersey from a lot of pros because I'm
- 23:12Speaker 4: willing to give the benefit of doubt to a lot
- 23:14Speaker 4: of these quarterbacks taking that next step.
- 23:16Speaker 3: I was giving no love to Kenny.
- 23:17Speaker 4: And you know, I don't take too much from preseason
- 23:21Speaker 4: football because teams are just running shell defenses, right They're
- 23:23Speaker 4: running Cover two or they're running his zone, and that's
- 23:25Speaker 4: really it. They're not really throwing anything at you. But
- 23:27Speaker 4: what I wanted to see was Kenny was put the
- 23:29Speaker 4: ball down twenty yards down the field and he did
- 23:32Speaker 4: it multiple times, and only was he doing it, he
- 23:34Speaker 4: was looking for their best receiver and picking. So you know,
- 23:38Speaker 4: it's it's one of those where I'm just playing a
- 23:40Speaker 4: number at bet three to sixty five right now. I
- 23:41Speaker 4: believe it's forty to one Pittsburgh. So that's all I'm saying.
- 23:44Speaker 4: Shop around. You can get way better odds right now
- 23:47Speaker 4: on this team at this book. That again go to
- 23:49Speaker 4: the action app I put it in there at the
- 23:50Speaker 4: Exact book. That's a great number to take on a
- 23:53Speaker 4: Pittsburgh team that I love teams that playing really hard
- 23:56Speaker 4: divisions because that means when they get through it, if
- 23:58Speaker 4: they get to the wild card they get they win
- 24:00Speaker 4: the division. They've already been through it. They've been playing
- 24:02Speaker 4: playoff football since December. That's what I feel like we
- 24:04Speaker 4: have in that AFC North. Right every team is just
- 24:07Speaker 4: really good, so you know they got all the weapons
- 24:10Speaker 4: right offensively, the biggest question to meet is their offensive line.
- 24:13Speaker 4: I do think it's looked better this preseason. So yeah,
- 24:16Speaker 4: sixty to one Pittsburgh, Chad's that's my favorite bet right
- 24:19Speaker 4: now for long shot super Bowl.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Look, we believe, we believe the AFC North by far
- 24:25Speaker 1: best division of football right, only division where every team
- 24:28Speaker 1: is over eight for their season win total. Great offensive
- 24:34Speaker 1: line in the Ravens and the Browns, as chronicled by Brandon,
- 24:39Speaker 1: great defensive lines in the Browns and the Steelers, like
- 24:43Speaker 1: this is a team where top to bottom rosters are loaded.
- 24:46Speaker 1: All right, let's get into.
- 24:48Speaker 2: It with our guests.
- 24:49Speaker 1: It's time to turn the attention away from us. Simon Brandon,
- 24:55Speaker 1: you mentioned your love of the Texans. Would you like
- 24:58Speaker 1: to make them potentially the first, the very first best
- 25:03Speaker 1: bet you're going to talk about on the Favorites podcast,
- 25:07Speaker 1: home of a massive contest.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Is this is the one that you want to weigh
- 25:12Speaker 2: out with people.
- 25:14Speaker 8: This is not just the one. I'm gonna give you
- 25:16Speaker 8: like five Texans best here. So let me start imaking
- 25:19Speaker 8: the case for this team. I love the Houston Texans.
- 25:22Speaker 8: This year they added a lot of floor raizers on
- 25:24Speaker 8: the team, and I just like they They added floor
- 25:27Speaker 8: razers to a team that literally was not relevant to
- 25:30Speaker 8: the football conversation for the last few years. Now they're
- 25:33Speaker 8: bringing in Will Anderson, best defender in the draft, Derek Stingly.
- 25:37Speaker 8: Really they get him back because he missed half the season.
- 25:39Speaker 8: He has shut down corner possibility. Just they brought in
- 25:42Speaker 8: a lot of veterans Shack Mason on the line. Nobody
- 25:45Speaker 8: cares but that that improves the guard position, That improves
- 25:49Speaker 8: in tier of the line. That line is young, it's
- 25:51Speaker 8: improving a lot. For a long time, that offensive line
- 25:54Speaker 8: has been horrible and their run game has been terrible.
- 25:58Speaker 8: Bobby Slowik is a new offensive coordinator. I think he's
- 26:00Speaker 8: a name we're going to start hearing a lot of
- 26:02Speaker 8: this year from a lot of like the the nerd conversations,
- 26:06Speaker 8: Bobby Slowik is gonna be the guy because he's from
- 26:08Speaker 8: the cal Shanahan Tree comes with Demiko Ryans. So you
- 26:11Speaker 8: got Demiko doing what he did in San Francisco on
- 26:14Speaker 8: defense with all these great pass rushers, great star corner
- 26:18Speaker 8: and then you have Bobby Slowick reinvigorating the run game.
- 26:21Speaker 8: I think this year getting that young offensive line going.
- 26:24Speaker 8: The defense added some names. That defense actually last year
- 26:28Speaker 8: second half of the season, they were top ten in DVOA.
- 26:31Speaker 8: They were second against the pass. So now you add
- 26:34Speaker 8: Stingley back, you had Will Anderson, you had Demiko. I
- 26:38Speaker 8: think that this is the best division or best defense
- 26:41Speaker 8: in the division. I think it's the best offensive line
- 26:44Speaker 8: in the division. They were number two in special teams
- 26:46Speaker 8: last year. Their coach, Frank Ross, usually has them near
- 26:49Speaker 8: the top there. If you have the best O line,
- 26:52Speaker 8: the best defense, the best special teams, that's the stuff
- 26:55Speaker 8: nobody cares and pay attention to and that's why I
- 26:57Speaker 8: think Houston is way overlooked and the best team in
- 27:00Speaker 8: the division. They're my outright favorite in the division. So
- 27:05Speaker 8: here's my bet. They are my pick to be this
- 27:07Speaker 8: year's worst two first division winner. You can get that
- 27:10Speaker 8: as far as high as eleven to one at some books.
- 27:13Speaker 8: We've had a worse to first team eighteen of the
- 27:16Speaker 8: last twenty years. So I actually grabbed last year at
- 27:19Speaker 8: Jacksonville in this division eight to one. They were the winner.
- 27:23Speaker 8: But that's you know, this is the not for long league.
- 27:25Speaker 8: So we talked about Jacksonville earlier. If you look like
- 27:29Speaker 8: the way I kind of rank rosters and everything I
- 27:32Speaker 8: have my matrix, quarterback is the one spot that Jacksonville
- 27:36Speaker 8: has this real advantage at Houston has lots of just
- 27:39Speaker 8: like solid above averages now where Jacksonville has some deficiencies elsewhere.
- 27:43Speaker 8: I'm not highing the Colts, especially Anthony Richardson. I think
- 27:46Speaker 8: he's going to take some time the Titans have. We
- 27:49Speaker 8: talked about the offensive line rankings. Tennessee is dead last
- 27:52Speaker 8: on every ranking that I looked at for offensive lines,
- 27:55Speaker 8: and I have a hard time believing in that team,
- 27:57Speaker 8: so I love eleven to one worse to first. Houston's
- 28:00Speaker 8: my outright favorite at bet three six five. If you
- 28:03Speaker 8: want to get cute, you can get a fourteen to
- 28:05Speaker 8: one on Houston first, Jacksonville second, because I don't really
- 28:09Speaker 8: think Jacksonville can slide too far out of us. So
- 28:11Speaker 8: if you want to do that, if they do win
- 28:13Speaker 8: the division, I'm talking nine to ten wins here. Dimiko
- 28:17Speaker 8: Ryans Coach of the Year, I think is in play
- 28:19Speaker 8: twenty five to one. That's one of my favorite coach
- 28:22Speaker 8: of the year bets. And then my absolute favorite bet
- 28:25Speaker 8: on Houston, and this is literally my favorite bet of
- 28:29Speaker 8: the entire preseason circuit is the bet that you already
- 28:32Speaker 8: bet against.
- 28:33Speaker 3: Chad.
- 28:34Speaker 8: Give me my guy Anderson, Will Anderson to win Defensive
- 28:38Speaker 8: Rookie of the Year at five to one, And thank
- 28:41Speaker 8: you Jalen Carter for existing, because I think the Jalen
- 28:43Speaker 8: Carter hype is buying us easy odds on Will Anderson.
- 28:47Speaker 8: Two defensive tackle winners the last twenty eight years two
- 28:51Speaker 8: and twenty eight. We want edge rushers, we want sacks.
- 28:54Speaker 8: We want guys out on the edge making plays, getting
- 28:57Speaker 8: the flash plays. I don't know if Jalen Carter is
- 29:00Speaker 8: gonna be on the field enough and get enough you
- 29:03Speaker 8: know the flashy stats at the end. He's gonna finish
- 29:05Speaker 8: the year with like twenty five tackles and four sacks,
- 29:09Speaker 8: and he's gonna make a big difference for a really
- 29:11Speaker 8: good team. But we're gonna count of voters to notice that.
- 29:14Speaker 8: Voters will notice Will Anderson like plowing through guys like
- 29:17Speaker 8: he has in the preseason and blowing up plays. Here's
- 29:21Speaker 8: the stats on defense Rookie of the Year. Nineteen out
- 29:23Speaker 8: of the last twenty three were top fifteen picks. Now,
- 29:27Speaker 8: to be fair, Jalen Carter's top fifteen to two, so
- 29:29Speaker 8: he fits the criteria you want a favorite. Seven of
- 29:32Speaker 8: the last eleven were plus nine hundred or shorter. That's
- 29:35Speaker 8: just our two guys, Jalen and Anderson. That's the only two.
- 29:39Speaker 8: Seven or more sacks for six of the last nine guys.
- 29:41Speaker 8: And here's the one stat I found six winners in
- 29:45Speaker 8: a row at this Rookie of the year. Six was
- 29:47Speaker 8: in a row, joined a defense bottom six in points
- 29:50Speaker 8: per game, and jumped into the top ten of the
- 29:53Speaker 8: year that they joined. That was Sauce Gardner last year
- 29:55Speaker 8: from dead last to fourth. Here's the sixth this year Bears, Vikings, Lions,
- 30:01Speaker 8: Terrible Division, Cardinals, Colts, and Houston Texans. I think they
- 30:06Speaker 8: jumped to top ten points per game allowed and the
- 30:08Speaker 8: defense makes a leap to make the playoffs. Give me
- 30:11Speaker 8: the eleven to one playoffs. Give me the five to one.
- 30:13Speaker 8: Will Anderson as in Will Anderson to bet the Texans again,
- 30:17Speaker 8: Yes you will.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Oh wow, you've been working on that and that was
- 30:20Speaker 1: that was nice?
- 30:21Speaker 6: Oh yeah, Raybon, Damn bro, I like where did you
- 30:28Speaker 6: get that shit?
- 30:28Speaker 5: You was smoking on it? Like I need some of
- 30:31Speaker 5: that shit that Like, damn, you know.
- 30:35Speaker 1: What's interesting about this? He went through this whole this
- 30:39Speaker 1: this litany of information. Oh, by the way, they're starting
- 30:43Speaker 1: a rookie quarterback.
- 30:45Speaker 5: All right, so let's let's start here. And first of all,
- 30:47Speaker 5: let me say this.
- 30:48Speaker 6: I when I first started looking into the Texans this year,
- 30:51Speaker 6: I was like, everybody's gonna think they're tanking. They're not
- 30:53Speaker 6: tanking because they traded their pick to Arizona. So yes,
- 30:56Speaker 6: this is going to be a different team. But there's
- 30:59Speaker 6: a big step from them, you know, going over their
- 31:03Speaker 6: win total maybe to winning the division.
- 31:05Speaker 5: I don't think they're there yet.
- 31:07Speaker 6: Now, if you look at teams over since since the
- 31:11Speaker 6: NFL went to thirty two teams in two thousand and two,
- 31:15Speaker 6: we've had thirty one instances when a team drafts a
- 31:20Speaker 6: rookie quarterback top ten and then that team goes and
- 31:25Speaker 6: then that quarterback excuse me, goes and starts eight or
- 31:28Speaker 6: more games. So essentially a situation like we expect from Richardson,
- 31:31Speaker 6: like we expect from Stroud, Bryce Young, those teams are
- 31:36Speaker 6: going over their win total about thirty seven percent of
- 31:38Speaker 6: the time over the past decade.
- 31:40Speaker 5: It's about twenty six percent of the time.
- 31:42Speaker 6: So like that's just first of all, Now, the Texans,
- 31:47Speaker 6: I think they have a lot of decent players now,
- 31:50Speaker 6: but they don't really have.
- 31:51Speaker 5: That many needle movers at all.
- 31:52Speaker 6: Like Laramie Tunsseel's great Shack Mason had his worst season
- 31:55Speaker 6: since his rookie year.
- 31:56Speaker 5: He's like thirty something. Jimmy war Is like thirty two. Know,
- 32:00Speaker 5: like they got it.
- 32:01Speaker 6: They got a lot of guys that like look good
- 32:02Speaker 6: on paper, but their receivers they might not have one
- 32:06Speaker 6: good receiver. If my guy Tank Dell doesn't get back
- 32:08Speaker 6: on the field, you know, Dalton Shoultz and he's good
- 32:12Speaker 6: in Dallas. Noah Brown, no Robert Woods, washed, Nico Collins
- 32:18Speaker 6: kind of stiff, you know, like this team. And then
- 32:23Speaker 6: Howard's hurt, the centers hurt, so the old line is
- 32:27Speaker 6: not really gonna be quite as good as you think
- 32:29Speaker 6: it is. But more importantly, let's just talk about the
- 32:33Speaker 6: team that I think is better than this Texan team,
- 32:35Speaker 6: and that's the As, the Tennessee Titans. I can't believe
- 32:38Speaker 6: you said the Texas. I mean, yeah, the Texas have
- 32:40Speaker 6: the best defense in the division. I think the Titans
- 32:42Speaker 6: have the best defense in the division easier. I think
- 32:44Speaker 6: Jeffrey Simmons is better than every single player.
- 32:47Speaker 5: On the Texas defense. And then you look at that front.
- 32:49Speaker 6: You got Dinko Artry, you got tart you got al Shire,
- 32:52Speaker 6: you got arden Key, you got Buyer, one of the
- 32:55Speaker 6: best safeties in the game. Uh Like, it's just like
- 32:58Speaker 6: there's just too many players on his front. It's just
- 33:00Speaker 6: you know what happened with the Titans last year. They
- 33:02Speaker 6: missed the third most games, They lost the third most
- 33:06Speaker 6: games to injury.
- 33:07Speaker 5: They were seven and three. This Tatan team that everyone
- 33:10Speaker 5: thinks is.
- 33:10Speaker 6: Terrible now because they went seven and ten they were
- 33:13Speaker 6: seven and three, seven and three, and then they go
- 33:17Speaker 6: on a seven game losing street to close out the season.
- 33:20Speaker 6: Four of those games one score games.
- 33:21Speaker 5: One of those losses a.
- 33:23Speaker 6: Game where Malik Willis lost to the Texans thrown under
- 33:26Speaker 6: one hundred yards.
- 33:27Speaker 5: Another one of those losses the playing.
- 33:30Speaker 6: Game where they were up with under three minutes to
- 33:33Speaker 6: go until Josh Dobbs, who they signed up the street
- 33:35Speaker 6: to play for Willis, got fumble sixth. The other four years,
- 33:41Speaker 6: Rabel over his win total vrabel winning record as a underdog.
- 33:45Speaker 5: Straight up, this is the.
- 33:47Speaker 6: Same Titan team we've always seen. They just had one
- 33:51Speaker 6: bad stretch, one bad two months, and now everyone thinks
- 33:54Speaker 6: that they're like the second or third best team in
- 33:56Speaker 6: the division. This Titan team still has the best defense,
- 34:00Speaker 6: Ryan Tannehill's seven eight yards per tentp last year, Derrick
- 34:03Speaker 6: Henry right on his career average yards per touch, DeAndre Hopkins,
- 34:06Speaker 6: best wide receivers they've had since aj Brown, Chigakonko, one
- 34:09Speaker 6: of the most explosive young tight ends. Year two lead
- 34:11Speaker 6: Traylon Burks when he gets back year two leap and
- 34:14Speaker 6: it's gonna be a lot easier because you got Hopkins there,
- 34:16Speaker 6: and Dillard struggled his rookie.
- 34:19Speaker 5: Year at left tackle. I'll give you that.
- 34:20Speaker 6: Since then, his last two years, he's played two hundred
- 34:24Speaker 6: and fifteen pass block snaps, giving up one sack. So
- 34:27Speaker 6: I think I don't think this Titans O line is
- 34:29Speaker 6: gonna be like piss poor last in the league.
- 34:32Speaker 5: I think it's gonna be meh.
- 34:34Speaker 6: But there's no real, uh other team in this division
- 34:39Speaker 6: that is gonna have a better offense even with that,
- 34:41Speaker 6: Like I don't think Houston's gonna have a better offense
- 34:43Speaker 6: with a rookie quarterback throwing a shit receivers, uh, just
- 34:47Speaker 6: because Larry Tunzel was there.
- 34:48Speaker 5: Like Larry Tunzel was great.
- 34:49Speaker 6: But at the end of the day, this Titan team
- 34:52Speaker 6: is gonna be able to play action. They're gonna be
- 34:53Speaker 6: able to just ram Henry down people's brokes. And again,
- 34:57Speaker 6: I think people are sleeping on this defensive front, which
- 34:59Speaker 6: is not just one the best of it. It's not
- 35:00Speaker 6: just the best in the division. This defensive front is
- 35:03Speaker 6: one of the best defensive front in all of football,
- 35:05Speaker 6: like player for player, So to me.
- 35:09Speaker 5: This is easy Titans.
- 35:10Speaker 8: Bet.
- 35:11Speaker 6: I think the Jaguars are still the biggest threat to
- 35:14Speaker 6: the Titans, not the Texans, but the Jaguars. They have
- 35:17Speaker 6: good players at the skill positions and shakiness everywhere else,
- 35:20Speaker 6: kind of like you said, Brandon. So for me, I'm
- 35:22Speaker 6: just going right back to expecting the Titans to do
- 35:25Speaker 6: what they've done every other.
- 35:26Speaker 5: Year, which is exceed expectations. And oh and they got
- 35:28Speaker 5: a kicker.
- 35:29Speaker 6: Now, they got Nick Folk from New England, so their
- 35:31Speaker 6: kicker situations solved. So I mean, you know, I just
- 35:36Speaker 6: can't find a reason to fade the Titans. I think
- 35:38Speaker 6: the win total is like two wins too low, especially
- 35:41Speaker 6: for this weak division, and I think that people are
- 35:44Speaker 6: just it's just all it's just it's just a bunch
- 35:46Speaker 6: of bad luck and people are sleeping and they're gonna
- 35:49Speaker 6: bounce back. And by the way, Jacksonville, you know, because
- 35:51Speaker 6: again I think Jacksonville is the biggest threat. They had
- 35:53Speaker 6: the second best injury luck. Tennessee has the third worst.
- 35:56Speaker 6: So I think that's just clouding people's perceptions. Like a
- 36:00Speaker 6: couple of months, a month and a half of bad
- 36:02Speaker 6: football with Malik Willis and everyone hurt is not what
- 36:06Speaker 6: the Titans are.
- 36:08Speaker 2: Simon.
- 36:09Speaker 1: You and I love the Titans. We feel like they're
- 36:12Speaker 1: undervalued everywhere. Do you want to give the one reason
- 36:16Speaker 1: why we're afraid of making a Titans bet.
- 36:19Speaker 4: We're almost at that point now we can do it
- 36:20Speaker 4: where I don't think Tannel will be traded, right. That
- 36:22Speaker 4: was just the fear going into the season that you
- 36:25Speaker 4: know they use a lot of drag stock on these
- 36:28Speaker 4: two different quarterbacks and it's kind of the same thing
- 36:30Speaker 4: you just saw Trey Lance.
- 36:30Speaker 3: It's like they gotta get that guy in the room, right, they.
- 36:33Speaker 4: Don't want any issues, and apparently he's been nothing but good.
- 36:36Speaker 4: Of these these young quarterbacks, like there's no drama in
- 36:39Speaker 4: the locker room. It does feel like it's a one
- 36:41Speaker 4: last who robed for this team. And yeah, to me,
- 36:43Speaker 4: they're they're the best value, right. We love buying low
- 36:45Speaker 4: on teams. Last year, the Jaguars is like an easy
- 36:48Speaker 4: bet for this division, like the Titans feel like an
- 36:50Speaker 4: easy bet. And I'll just say the Rookie of the
- 36:52Speaker 4: Year bet, My only knock would be Jalen Carter is
- 36:56Speaker 4: going to be in more primetime games. And we know
- 36:58Speaker 4: how simple these NFL voters are, where if he makes
- 37:01Speaker 4: the right play in a couple of big games and
- 37:03Speaker 4: it's on national television, and even if he has less
- 37:06Speaker 4: sacks or touch it, you know, makes big plays or
- 37:09Speaker 4: whatever it is. I still think if he makes enough
- 37:11Speaker 4: big plays in national television, he'll get a bump over
- 37:14Speaker 4: a guy that you know, we don't think they're gonna
- 37:16Speaker 4: win their vision, right, Brandon's right, like he's one of me,
- 37:19Speaker 4: Like where I love taking these long shots of like
- 37:22Speaker 4: I think that Houston's the play next year, right, it
- 37:25Speaker 4: feels like a year early on them this year where
- 37:27Speaker 4: next year is the play, right that they no longer
- 37:29Speaker 4: have a rookie head coach, no longer a rookie quarterback.
- 37:32Speaker 4: Next year will be the move for me on Houston,
- 37:34Speaker 4: where this year I'm with Chris. It's just like I
- 37:37Speaker 4: have to take Tennessee like Verabel, every year's prove it
- 37:41Speaker 4: to us, and I can't just fade him after one
- 37:42Speaker 4: down year. So it would be really hard to talk
- 37:45Speaker 4: to me off Tennessee. I just feel like that that's
- 37:47Speaker 4: the only choice we have to make in this division.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Chad coaches, We absolutely hate betting against yeah, especially especially
- 37:56Speaker 1: when they are.
- 37:59Speaker 2: Underdogs.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Mike Tomlin, John Harbaugh, Bill Belichick, Mike Frable hate it.
- 38:08Speaker 1: The guy is a proven winner. He's so much smarter
- 38:10Speaker 1: as a football coach. Then he gets credit for I
- 38:13Speaker 1: want us to transition now to a team and a
- 38:17Speaker 1: bet that at least Brandon and Raybon can agree on,
- 38:22Speaker 1: so there doesn't have to be any violence like there
- 38:25Speaker 1: was last time. Brandon, we're in an Atlanta Falcons podcast.
- 38:32Speaker 2: Explain what you're gonna tell people.
- 38:34Speaker 8: Yeah, I love the Falcons this year a lot of
- 38:36Speaker 8: the same reasons that I made the case for the Texans.
- 38:38Speaker 8: They just added a lot of floor raizers, especially on defense.
- 38:41Speaker 8: Jesse Bates coming in, Kalays Campbell, Onyamada, bud Dupree. This
- 38:46Speaker 8: was a truly awful defense last year, and I don't
- 38:48Speaker 8: think they're gonna be good. I'm not gonna say that
- 38:50Speaker 8: they're gonna be possible top ten. I do think the
- 38:52Speaker 8: Texans will the Falcons just getting the average. Just be
- 38:56Speaker 8: like Raven Side, just be Matt. Can you just like
- 38:59Speaker 8: be Matt and not absolutely awful? I think they can't.
- 39:02Speaker 8: I like the new defensive coordinator, Ryan Nielsen. I think
- 39:04Speaker 8: he'll help on offense. The line is really good. Top ten.
- 39:08Speaker 8: I think I have them seventh in my ratings. Then
- 39:10Speaker 8: you got Bijon Robinson, the rookie running back Drake London
- 39:14Speaker 8: Kyle Pitts. Like in the nineties we had the Triplets
- 39:17Speaker 8: in Dallas, right, like these are the triplets these who
- 39:20Speaker 8: else has a running back, a tight end and a
- 39:22Speaker 8: receiver with that level of skill? Top ten picks all
- 39:25Speaker 8: three of these guys. So I think we're overlooking this
- 39:29Speaker 8: offense a little bit because it's unconventional. They're the run
- 39:32Speaker 8: heaviest team. But part of the reason I don't like
- 39:36Speaker 8: all the stuff you guys said about the Titans that
- 39:37Speaker 8: quite believe as much is because of the guy leading
- 39:40Speaker 8: this team, Arthur Smith, who is not the Titans anymore.
- 39:43Speaker 8: I know it wasn't last year, but I think that
- 39:45Speaker 8: the injuries and all that kind of clouded the drop
- 39:48Speaker 8: off on offense, the drop off in Tannehill's play, some
- 39:51Speaker 8: of the advanced metrics. Tannehill became this elite, really great
- 39:54Speaker 8: quarterback for two years, which two the Arthur Smith years.
- 39:58Speaker 8: Falcons have a real quarterback now aka not Marcus Mariota Simon.
- 40:02Speaker 8: I know you don't want him any part of your
- 40:04Speaker 8: Philadelphia Eagles this year coming off the bench there, he
- 40:06Speaker 8: looks terrible. I think just getting Dezen Rider to be fine.
- 40:11Speaker 8: Can you just be fine and again be meh? Can
- 40:13Speaker 8: you be meth and come in and hand the ball off?
- 40:16Speaker 8: They had like six hundred carries last year. Arthur Smith
- 40:20Speaker 8: in Tennessee had a top six DEVO offense his two
- 40:24Speaker 8: years leading the offense. This team, with no quarterback last
- 40:27Speaker 8: year in Atlanta finished thirteenth. They are my number eight
- 40:31Speaker 8: offense going into the new season. Even though they're weird,
- 40:34Speaker 8: it doesn't matter. It gets the job done. And I
- 40:38Speaker 8: don't believe in the Saints. They're the oldest team I
- 40:40Speaker 8: believe in the league, and I just feel like that's
- 40:43Speaker 8: a team I don't believe in. Dennis Allen. I think
- 40:45Speaker 8: they'll be in the mix. I think they'll be a
- 40:46Speaker 8: good team, But I like the Falcons a little bit more. Again,
- 40:49Speaker 8: to me, they're my favorite in that division. So similar
- 40:53Speaker 8: bets here worse the first division. Atlanta is my other
- 40:56Speaker 8: pick here, much shorter odds. It's plus two to twenty
- 40:58Speaker 8: on that one. Arthur Smith Coach of the Year is
- 41:01Speaker 8: fourteen to one. I'm playing both of those. You know,
- 41:04Speaker 8: get to get a couple of bites of the apples.
- 41:05Speaker 8: Sometimes at bet three six five, you can bet Atlanta.
- 41:09Speaker 8: This is gonna sound crazy, but it's another one of
- 41:11Speaker 8: these long shots Atlanta. For me, I agree with what
- 41:14Speaker 8: y'all said about the forty nine ers. I'm fading them
- 41:17Speaker 8: this year. If I'm out on the Niners and all
- 41:20Speaker 8: I have left in the NFC, then is one team
- 41:23Speaker 8: that's the one seed, then the path is open. If
- 41:25Speaker 8: the Falcons are really good to be the two seed,
- 41:28Speaker 8: and if the Falcons are the two seed, give me
- 41:30Speaker 8: a ten to one conference finals appearance from the Atlanta Falcons.
- 41:34Speaker 8: If you're a two or three seed, top two seed,
- 41:37Speaker 8: you win a home game or two, you're in the
- 41:39Speaker 8: conference finals. They're gonna lose real bad when you get there.
- 41:41Speaker 8: Like this is not don't buy a super Bowl to
- 41:43Speaker 8: get no thank you. I don't want that. But I
- 41:46Speaker 8: believe in the Falcons. And then Chad our guy, your guy,
- 41:50Speaker 8: Ray Baons Guy, Bijean Robinson, Offensive Rookie of the Year
- 41:54Speaker 8: three to one. I took that plus four fifty on
- 41:57Speaker 8: Draft night. I still like it three to one. Fifteen
- 42:00Speaker 8: of the last nineteen rookie of the years on offense,
- 42:02Speaker 8: we're top twelve picks. You pretty much need a top
- 42:05Speaker 8: ten Fantasy guy if you're gonna pick a rookie of
- 42:08Speaker 8: the year. He's going what like fifth or six and
- 42:11Speaker 8: most drafts, so obviously we expect him to do that.
- 42:14Speaker 8: It's a soft schedule for this team. I think he
- 42:16Speaker 8: has a big year. I think Jed you have an
- 42:19Speaker 8: even like a stronger bet On bejan Thn just offensive
- 42:21Speaker 8: rookie the year. You think you can leave the league
- 42:23Speaker 8: in rushing.
- 42:24Speaker 2: I do, I do.
- 42:25Speaker 1: And a Nobody hunts in pecks for alt lines and
- 42:30Speaker 1: creative markets better than Brandon Anderson, and nobody can convince
- 42:35Speaker 1: you that it's the most obvious choice to make, no
- 42:40Speaker 1: matter how long the odds, better than Brandon Anderson. I
- 42:44Speaker 1: agree with everything you just said.
- 42:45Speaker 2: I love it. I love it all.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Simon and I we both love Arthur Smith. We love
- 42:50Speaker 1: his creativity. I think it's a little strong to say
- 42:54Speaker 1: that Drake London, Kyle Pitts, and Bjean Robinson are the
- 42:59Speaker 1: equivalent of Hall of Fame combination of triplets like the
- 43:03Speaker 1: Dallas Cowboys, but based on Raybond. I do love Bjeon Robinson,
- 43:08Speaker 1: who is about eleven to one to lead the league
- 43:11Speaker 1: in rushing, because I honestly feel like Arthur Smith might
- 43:13Speaker 1: let him carry the ball.
- 43:14Speaker 2: Two thousand times.
- 43:16Speaker 6: Yeah, Raybond, I think Bijon is the best bet in
- 43:21Speaker 6: this market by far because you look at the other guys,
- 43:25Speaker 6: you know, atop the leader board, and it makes sense,
- 43:28Speaker 6: you know, Nick Chubb, Derrick Henry, but those guys are
- 43:30Speaker 6: a little bit older. This award tends to trend younger.
- 43:34Speaker 6: And when you look at you know, since the merger,
- 43:37Speaker 6: we've seen about eleven percent of rookie of the winners
- 43:42Speaker 6: be rookie running backs. And if it's gonna be a rookie,
- 43:45Speaker 6: it's almost certainly gonna be Bjon Robinson. And that's that
- 43:49Speaker 6: percentage has increased over the last decade or so. Remember
- 43:53Speaker 6: we had two two winners in twenty sixteen and twenty
- 43:57Speaker 6: seventeen back to back that were rookies. We had Zeke
- 44:00Speaker 6: and then we had Kareem Hunt. So and then you
- 44:02Speaker 6: go back to nineteen ninety nine you had Edger and James.
- 44:05Speaker 6: So you know, in the last just over twenty years,
- 44:09Speaker 6: we've had three. So you know, the likelihood of a
- 44:13Speaker 6: rookie guy like Robinson winning this award just goes up.
- 44:16Speaker 6: He's one of the only guys I think that has
- 44:20Speaker 6: that twenty carry up side outside of your Chubbs and
- 44:24Speaker 6: your Derrick Henry's. So I think Bjon Robins and like
- 44:27Speaker 6: Brandon said, the O line one of the best in
- 44:29Speaker 6: the league. So yeah, I think he's by far the
- 44:32Speaker 6: best bet in the in this market. A great way
- 44:35Speaker 6: to kind of bet on some some Falcons longer shots.
- 44:40Speaker 6: But I just want to go back to one thing
- 44:42Speaker 6: Brandon you said about, you know, Arthur Smith and the
- 44:44Speaker 6: fact that he's he's in Atlanta now, and that is
- 44:46Speaker 6: one of the reasons I love this Falcon team to
- 44:48Speaker 6: win a division. I think they're best team over the Saints.
- 44:50Speaker 6: But remember the year after Arthur Smith left in Tennessee.
- 44:56Speaker 6: It was twenty twenty one. Derrick Henry missed eight games,
- 44:59Speaker 6: A J. Brown miss a handful. Guess what the Titans did,
- 45:02Speaker 6: number one seed in AFC. Stop it, stop it, Like
- 45:06Speaker 6: this tight team is too nasty for y'all, Like plus
- 45:10Speaker 6: three twenty to win this division is easy money, Like
- 45:13Speaker 6: it's easy money, but but no, the Falcons.
- 45:15Speaker 5: I think the Falcons are the best team in this division, Simon.
- 45:18Speaker 6: Like my thing with the Saints is and you kind
- 45:21Speaker 6: of talked about car and him having the new toys,
- 45:24Speaker 6: and I think on the surface that it's true, But
- 45:28Speaker 6: when you look a little deeper, Derek carrs had this
- 45:32Speaker 6: is his fifth new offense, so he's gonna be in
- 45:34Speaker 6: year one of a new offense for the fifth time
- 45:36Speaker 6: as a pro. Right, the previous four times that he's
- 45:39Speaker 6: been in year one of a new offense are his
- 45:43Speaker 6: four worst years in the National Football League in pretty
- 45:47Speaker 6: much every single statistical metric like yards for a tempt,
- 45:51Speaker 6: passer rating, completion rate, every possible thing like.
- 45:55Speaker 5: Those are just cars worst years.
- 45:57Speaker 6: In years where he's not in year one of a
- 45:58Speaker 6: new offense, he's about out just over five hundred. In
- 46:02Speaker 6: years where he isn't in the first year of the
- 46:04Speaker 6: new offense, he's like twenty two and forty. Like it's
- 46:07Speaker 6: just he just doesn't really catch on that fast, and
- 46:11Speaker 6: like none of his career highs in year one of
- 46:14Speaker 6: a new offense are even as good as what Andy
- 46:18Speaker 6: Dalton did for the Saints last year. So that's why
- 46:22Speaker 6: I'm a little bit concerned about the about the Saints,
- 46:25Speaker 6: because I think I don't think Derek Carr is really
- 46:28Speaker 6: the upgrade that people think he is. And then there
- 46:30Speaker 6: is just a lot of fragility with all these older,
- 46:33Speaker 6: older guys.
- 46:34Speaker 5: So yeah, falcons all day for me.
- 46:37Speaker 2: Signing.
- 46:38Speaker 4: Look at you two sitting there with straight faces telling
- 46:40Speaker 4: people put their real money on Desmond Ritters. I mean, Chad,
- 46:45Speaker 4: I gotta play the devil's advocate.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Man.
- 46:47Speaker 4: I'm the only one here on there under Atlanta. I
- 46:49Speaker 4: get where all these people are coming from. Right, just
- 46:51Speaker 4: because last year they all these one score games. We've
- 46:54Speaker 4: all just watched Mario to play football. This kid could
- 46:57Speaker 4: not be out beat out Marcus Mariota last and you
- 47:00Speaker 4: think he's just gonna turn it around in one year,
- 47:02Speaker 4: right in this offense, He's not.
- 47:04Speaker 3: I've watched him practice.
- 47:06Speaker 4: I've read all the scouts who have gone to their practices,
- 47:09Speaker 4: their beat writers who've been through practice. This kid can't
- 47:11Speaker 4: complete balls twenty yards downfield. Drake Lindon can make incredible catches,
- 47:14Speaker 4: and maybe that's why he'll complete it.
- 47:16Speaker 3: That's it.
- 47:17Speaker 4: Like this kid he's got, he doesn't have what it
- 47:20Speaker 4: takes to making this league. And we just know how
- 47:21Speaker 4: it is. Right, there are twelve really really good elite quarterbacks.
- 47:25Speaker 4: There are ten in between, right, the Tannehills, the Derek Cars,
- 47:28Speaker 4: and there's just ten rookies and a ton of shit
- 47:31Speaker 4: and That's just what football is. And every year in
- 47:33Speaker 4: the preseason, people will hype up their guys. Right, Jordan
- 47:36Speaker 4: Love three touchdowns, he looks incredible for Green Bay. I
- 47:39Speaker 4: always tell people going back to Sam Bradford had three
- 47:42Speaker 4: touchdowns in one quarter against Green Bay. I think we
- 47:45Speaker 4: had four wins that season on the Eagles. It's just
- 47:47Speaker 4: it doesn't matter. Right, you're throwing against Aaron Prez's so
- 47:50Speaker 4: I get the hype, right, A Landa on paper is good, right,
- 47:53Speaker 4: they played in really close games with what you guys said,
- 47:55Speaker 4: a corpse of Mariota. It just feels like this is
- 47:58Speaker 4: the darling of everyone. Everyone's telling you to bet this team.
- 48:01Speaker 4: And that's why again I like the Saints. I'm getting
- 48:03Speaker 4: a good number. I'm getting the best quarterback in this division,
- 48:06Speaker 4: and I think the most complete offense where this team.
- 48:08Speaker 4: It's got a lung, young talent and potential. Never have
- 48:12Speaker 4: seen the talent, right, I've never seen Drake Lennon show out,
- 48:14Speaker 4: never seen Kyle Pitch show out.
- 48:17Speaker 3: Robinson could be incredible. To me.
- 48:19Speaker 4: That running back is they're all gonna kind of eat
- 48:21Speaker 4: away each other's carrieres. That's just why I love Robinson's upside.
- 48:25Speaker 4: It's just they got a lot of mouths to feed
- 48:26Speaker 4: in that backfield. I don't think Arthur's just gonna make
- 48:28Speaker 4: him the three down lead horse back.
- 48:31Speaker 3: I haven't seen that in this preseason. I don't expect it.
- 48:34Speaker 4: For this upcoming season. So I get the love for Atlanta.
- 48:37Speaker 4: I just think they've done this team wrong. Where they
- 48:39Speaker 4: should have took justin fields, they took a tight end
- 48:42Speaker 4: and now they're gonna be paying for it. Right, They're
- 48:43Speaker 4: just not gonna throw this third round, third rounder and
- 48:46Speaker 4: from Cincinnati, and he's gonna really take off. I just
- 48:48Speaker 4: have not seen anything. Even their beat writers, right, the
- 48:51Speaker 4: beat writers supposed to smoke up their own team and
- 48:53Speaker 4: be like this kid looks great. You're just not hearing it, right,
- 48:57Speaker 4: You're just not hearing at all from this Atlanta camp,
- 48:59Speaker 4: because the kid is he's just not that talented. So
- 49:02Speaker 4: to me, if Atlanta gets eight and a half, it's
- 49:04Speaker 4: all Arthur Smith, Like, that's just an incredible coaching job,
- 49:07Speaker 4: just because I don't think they have a starting quarterback
- 49:10Speaker 4: on the shroster right now.
- 49:11Speaker 5: Look at them last year.
- 49:12Speaker 6: So last year right with Mariota for thirteen games and
- 49:16Speaker 6: rookie Ridder for four This was the best offense in
- 49:20Speaker 6: the division by dv Away, the best offense Tom Brady
- 49:23Speaker 6: started seventeen games for the Tampa Bay Bucks. Atlanta was
- 49:26Speaker 6: the best offense in the division.
- 49:29Speaker 4: They had third stringers on that old line, and man,
- 49:31Speaker 4: Tom Brady might get us a Chris Godwin like.
- 49:36Speaker 3: Brady. That's my point.
- 49:37Speaker 6: So now you're saying Tom Brady can't make third string
- 49:40Speaker 6: offensive line good. But a team with a great offensive line,
- 49:43Speaker 6: great skill position players, a coach who's proven to take
- 49:46Speaker 6: less and make it into more, and a team that
- 49:48Speaker 6: already had the best offense in the division. You're telling
- 49:52Speaker 6: me that they can't win this division now with Brady Gord.
- 49:54Speaker 4: If it's thirty eight, it's over. It's either be gonna
- 49:57Speaker 4: be a pick or the balls in the ground. Ridder, Dude,
- 49:59Speaker 4: this kid, I'm telling you you're gonna be pissed. You're
- 50:01Speaker 4: gonna be so pissed yourself for having money on week
- 50:03Speaker 4: the week, maybe not, but season long. I'm telling you,
- 50:06Speaker 4: Desmond is not not the answer in Atlanta. They're gonna
- 50:09Speaker 4: either have Kyler Murray next year or Tannehill. This is
- 50:11Speaker 4: not the future for them.
- 50:13Speaker 5: Already the best offense in the division.
- 50:16Speaker 4: And I remember people are down the scene Saints are
- 50:20Speaker 4: a better offense.
- 50:21Speaker 3: They're proving old.
- 50:24Speaker 5: Michael Thomas, Tom Hill.
- 50:27Speaker 6: Take some hills, old as fucked Like he's not gonna
- 50:30Speaker 6: get He's not gonna get credit for like twelve.
- 50:32Speaker 3: Touchdowns, Jehang Johnson.
- 50:35Speaker 6: Johnson, we're sleeping on because like Simon, I think you
- 50:43Speaker 6: kind of said the same thing about about the forty
- 50:46Speaker 6: nine ers to it in a different way. I feel
- 50:48Speaker 6: like we're sleeping on these offenses that are kind of
- 50:52Speaker 6: built to be kind of almost quarterback proof.
- 50:55Speaker 5: It's like great offensive line, great skilled players, great coach
- 51:00Speaker 5: who only the only.
- 51:02Speaker 6: Thing the quarterback has to do is fucking distribute the ball.
- 51:05Speaker 6: And like if Ritter focks it up, look at Heinike
- 51:07Speaker 6: Heineck came in for Carson Wentz.
- 51:09Speaker 3: We all.
- 51:09Speaker 6: I mean, I know, I was like, Carson Wentz is
- 51:11Speaker 6: not it? Heineke comes in same team and they go
- 51:14Speaker 6: on a winning streak for you know what I mean,
- 51:15Speaker 6: Like it doesn't is not gonna take much in this division.
- 51:18Speaker 6: And by the way, Drake London, when Ritter came seven
- 51:22Speaker 6: for seventy on eleven targets, seven for ninety six U
- 51:25Speaker 6: six for one twenty.
- 51:27Speaker 3: Nothing over twenty yards though, that's my point. It's all.
- 51:31Speaker 6: He was the last game of the year, he literally
- 51:32Speaker 6: averaged twenty yards to catch six.
- 51:35Speaker 2: That's twenty yards to catch, guys.
- 51:38Speaker 1: Here's the one bet we can agree on, because we
- 51:42Speaker 1: got to get to the last best bet. The one
- 51:44Speaker 1: bet we can agree on coming out of Atlanta. Arthur
- 51:47Speaker 1: Smith is going to put the ball in Bjon Robinson's
- 51:49Speaker 1: hands as much as he possibly can. The game plan
- 51:53Speaker 1: is going to be get it out of Desmond Ridder's hand,
- 51:56Speaker 1: put it in Bjon Robinson's hand. He might make Bijon
- 51:59Speaker 1: Robbins to be the Corderio Patterson player and just get
- 52:03Speaker 1: the ball directly from center. And we also know Chris
- 52:05Speaker 1: Listrom one of the best run blockers in the NFL,
- 52:09Speaker 1: also one of the top ten highest paid players in
- 52:10Speaker 1: the NFL this year because of his signing bonus. This
- 52:13Speaker 1: team is about Arthur Smith Jon Robinson.
- 52:17Speaker 2: That's it.
- 52:18Speaker 1: So we're going to bet Bjeon Robinson to lead the
- 52:21Speaker 1: league in rushing. We're gonna bet Bjon Robinson for offensive
- 52:25Speaker 1: Rookie of the Year, and we're going to remind people
- 52:29Speaker 1: catch every episode of the favorites live.
- 52:32Speaker 2: On YouTube, so you can get the kind of banter.
- 52:36Speaker 1: And discourse that you're getting right now. For those of
- 52:39Speaker 1: us enjoying it on YouTube right now, don't forget to
- 52:41Speaker 1: give us a like. Subscribe to the Action Network YouTube page.
- 52:44Speaker 2: Also signon.
- 52:47Speaker 1: You should be able to do this by now. Can
- 52:50Speaker 1: you name the fastest growing ticketing app in the US?
- 52:54Speaker 3: Game Time?
- 52:55Speaker 2: That's right, it's our sponsor, game Time.
- 52:56Speaker 1: I love game Time for two reasons. One because they
- 52:58Speaker 1: sponsored the show. Two, I actually use game Time to
- 53:02Speaker 1: buy tickets. They've got amazing last minute deals on all
- 53:05Speaker 1: sorts of tickets, including pro and college football games, speaking
- 53:08Speaker 1: of which, I'm going to Game Time right now from
- 53:10Speaker 1: my house here in Connecticut. This is why I'm so excited.
- 53:13Speaker 1: I told Matt Mitchell before I did the read. Right now,
- 53:19Speaker 1: I can get in. I got the Mets, I got
- 53:21Speaker 1: the US Open. You can do a double feature in Queens.
- 53:27Speaker 2: Just walk across the boardwalk.
- 53:29Speaker 1: From the US Open Stadium to the Mets Stadium. It's
- 53:34Speaker 1: freaking beautiful. US Open tickets a little more than one hundred.
- 53:38Speaker 1: That's a steal, by the way, Mets ticket six bucks.
- 53:40Speaker 2: What are you going to do?
- 53:41Speaker 4: No?
- 53:41Speaker 1: Matter where you live, download the game time app, Get
- 53:43Speaker 1: out have some fun this week, go sweat your bets
- 53:45Speaker 1: live and in person, and you can redeem code favorites
- 53:48Speaker 1: for twenty dollars off your first purchase. Terms apply again.
- 53:51Speaker 1: Just download the app and enter code favorites for twenty
- 53:55Speaker 1: dollars off. Last minute tickets, lowest price guaranteed. All right,
- 54:02Speaker 1: we're sticking in the NFC. We mentioned this team earlier.
- 54:07Speaker 1: I'd say in the last twenty four to forty eight hours,
- 54:09Speaker 1: I've heard more hype about.
- 54:10Speaker 2: This team than any other team.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Simon, I know you're starting to fall in love with
- 54:15Speaker 1: them a little bit, at least at their price. Brandon,
- 54:19Speaker 1: tell me your final best bet.
- 54:22Speaker 8: I'm going with the Dallas Cowboys, and I'm looking to
- 54:25Speaker 8: bet in and often on the Dallas Cowboys. We made
- 54:29Speaker 8: really the case for them earlier in the podcast. Sorry Chad,
- 54:33Speaker 8: when you had the forty nine Ers Super Bowl bet
- 54:35Speaker 8: and Simon got in and Chris got in coming against it.
- 54:38Speaker 8: I'm also against it. I don't like the Niners there.
- 54:41Speaker 8: I have them worse on offense and on defense this year.
- 54:44Speaker 8: I need to see it from Purdy. The Eagles are
- 54:47Speaker 8: just a classic regression team. I think they're gonna be good.
- 54:49Speaker 8: The floor is very high. They have the number one
- 54:51Speaker 8: offensive line, but there's some questions on defense. They lost
- 54:54Speaker 8: a lot of the spine. They're just an obvious team
- 54:57Speaker 8: that is not going to match what they did last year.
- 54:59Speaker 8: We pretty much know that. And in the NFC, that's it.
- 55:02Speaker 8: Who does that leave but the Dallas Cowboys. So, as
- 55:05Speaker 8: Homer Simpson would say the two sweetest words in the
- 55:07Speaker 8: English language, d fault, it's the Cowboys. They added Stefan Gilmour,
- 55:14Speaker 8: addressed the cornerback need, so now he's in the room.
- 55:17Speaker 8: They added the wide receiver too, Brandon Cook, So I
- 55:19Speaker 8: think it's gonna be a really good fit on this
- 55:21Speaker 8: particular offense. They effectively added Tyrone Smith, Please God stay
- 55:26Speaker 8: healthy at left tackle. We never know with him, but
- 55:28Speaker 8: while he's healthy, it's probably a top five offensive line.
- 55:32Speaker 8: They use their first round pick on a nose tackle,
- 55:34Speaker 8: Mazzie Smith. You don't do that unless you know you
- 55:37Speaker 8: are like two pieces away for wing the Super Bowl.
- 55:39Speaker 8: I just need a fat dude on the line to
- 55:42Speaker 8: please block and get somebody in the run game. Stop
- 55:45Speaker 8: letting him run up our throat. Mazie that's what he's
- 55:47Speaker 8: there for. Dak miss five games last year too, and frankly,
- 55:52Speaker 8: I think no Zeke is additioned by subtraction, not because
- 55:55Speaker 8: he's terrible, but because they over relied on him and
- 55:59Speaker 8: Mike McCarthy. I would not want Mike McCarthy handling my money.
- 56:03Speaker 8: I am not excited that he is part of this bet.
- 56:05Speaker 8: We have to live with it. However, his teams have
- 56:08Speaker 8: skewed pass heavy over the years when he's in charge,
- 56:11Speaker 8: and I think that might, accidentally, if it's true, help
- 56:14Speaker 8: this team out last Zeke running into the line that
- 56:17Speaker 8: hasn't been working for years.
- 56:19Speaker 3: More.
- 56:20Speaker 8: Hey, our top ten quarterback Dak Prescott throw the ball
- 56:23Speaker 8: and Bran Schotenheimer. I don't want him near my money either.
- 56:26Speaker 3: He's the OC.
- 56:27Speaker 8: But what he has done successfully is get the ball
- 56:31Speaker 8: to receivers in space and let them create. Afterward, we'll
- 56:34Speaker 8: look at the receivers. Brandon Cooke's lightning speed, Ceedee Lamb,
- 56:38Speaker 8: a guy who is a yack monster in college and
- 56:40Speaker 8: hasn't really had good chances to do that in Dallas.
- 56:42Speaker 8: I think it sets up well for what they do.
- 56:45Speaker 8: The defense, obviously we know is good. Their top two
- 56:48Speaker 8: DVA each of the last two years. They led the
- 56:50Speaker 8: league in takeaways both years. Dan quinn great coordinator Micah
- 56:54Speaker 8: Parsons is the correct favorite for a player of the
- 56:58Speaker 8: Year on defense. To me, it just it's a team
- 57:01Speaker 8: that has all the makings of a very good season.
- 57:04Speaker 8: So I am ready to bet even more in on
- 57:08Speaker 8: this team than I did on Philly last year. My
- 57:09Speaker 8: regret with Philly. I was in on them from the beginning. Simon,
- 57:12Speaker 8: you and I talked about them. I think I was
- 57:14Speaker 8: on this podcast on them. I had like a twenty
- 57:16Speaker 8: to one most wins. What I didn't get was some
- 57:19Speaker 8: of the other escalator stuff along the way. I love
- 57:22Speaker 8: to say, Okay, who do I like? So Dallas over
- 57:25Speaker 8: nine and a half? Eh, the juice is pretty high.
- 57:27Speaker 8: I don't really need it. So what can I do here?
- 57:29Speaker 8: All Right? Division almost two to one at most books,
- 57:32Speaker 8: So give me the division. Effectively, that's just a head
- 57:35Speaker 8: to head bet. Do I like the Cowboys or the Eagles?
- 57:37Speaker 8: I'm gonna bet on the Cowboys Late in the season,
- 57:40Speaker 8: when Dallas hosts Philadelphia for obviously a key game. Philly
- 57:45Speaker 8: is coming off of this wicked month long stretch against
- 57:49Speaker 8: like the best teams in the league three or four
- 57:51Speaker 8: straight games, and then at Dallas at the end of that.
- 57:54Speaker 8: That's a huge game, maybe the most important game in
- 57:56Speaker 8: the NFC, and it's a great schedule spot for Dallas.
- 57:59Speaker 8: So give me the at bet three six five. You
- 58:02Speaker 8: can go Dallas one to Philly two plus two seventy.
- 58:05Speaker 8: So add a little bit of juice there. Come on
- 58:07Speaker 8: the Giants and the Commander. They're not sneaking in here,
- 58:10Speaker 8: so give me that. Give me the one seed plus
- 58:12Speaker 8: six fifty most wins. If you're the one seed in
- 58:15Speaker 8: the NFC bloodbath in the AFC, you're probably gonna be
- 58:18Speaker 8: the best record, just like Philly was last year. Most
- 58:21Speaker 8: wins at bet three six five as fourteen to one.
- 58:24Speaker 8: I like the alternate over twelve and a half. That's
- 58:27Speaker 8: plus four to twenty five. You get thirteen wins or more.
- 58:30Speaker 8: Probably gonna do that. If you're in this division. You
- 58:33Speaker 8: beat the Eagles at least once, maybe twice, and then
- 58:36Speaker 8: I gotta do it. If you are the one seed,
- 58:39Speaker 8: I can truly say I don't believe these necessarily, But
- 58:41Speaker 8: if you're the one seed, the two bets I didn't
- 58:44Speaker 8: make last preseason, that nearly cashed, and I would have
- 58:47Speaker 8: hated myself. Is I did not quite bet on Jalen
- 58:50Speaker 8: Hurts do an MVP, even though I thought it was possible.
- 58:52Speaker 8: And I did not bet Philly to win the Super Bowl,
- 58:54Speaker 8: even though I thought that was possible. They didn't, but
- 58:57Speaker 8: they got real close, and I would have rather had
- 59:00Speaker 8: those tickets all season. So give me the fifteen to
- 59:03Speaker 8: one super Bowl. If you're the one seed in the
- 59:05Speaker 8: open NFC, you have to do it. They give me
- 59:07Speaker 8: Dack twenty five to one MVP quarterback of the one
- 59:11Speaker 8: seed on America's team, say no more. If you're that,
- 59:15Speaker 8: you're gonna be in the MVP mix. We know MVP
- 59:18Speaker 8: is a quarterback. We know it's a top two seed.
- 59:20Speaker 8: His yards per attempt, his TD rate, his EPA, those
- 59:24Speaker 8: numbers are there. I think the production will be not overwhelming.
- 59:28Speaker 8: But if you're the Cowboys quarterback on a one seed
- 59:31Speaker 8: juggernaut team, which they have the possibility of being, twenty
- 59:34Speaker 8: five to one is just too long of a number.
- 59:36Speaker 8: So I can't believe this. I mentioned the Triplets earlier.
- 59:40Speaker 8: I grew up in the nineties absolutely hating this team.
- 59:42Speaker 8: I am not a Cowboys fan, but I am a
- 59:44Speaker 8: fan of money, and I will put my money in
- 59:46Speaker 8: the Cowboys lots of ways and hope that they do
- 59:49Speaker 8: well this year.
- 59:49Speaker 1: The Cowboys would becoming one of those teams where I
- 59:53Speaker 1: sprayed the field with so many freaking futures over the
- 59:56Speaker 1: last six months and just had a blind spot for
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: the Cowboys because of their history, because of Jerry, because
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: of Mike McCarthy Simon. You talked about him last week
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: when we had Russ Tucker on.
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: I just missed it. I missed it. I missed all
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: of it. I missed the value. It's making me sick. Terrible,
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: just terrible. Ray Bon.
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: One final bet from you, my friend.
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: I love I love the Cowboys too, by the way,
- 1:00:26Speaker 5: But yeah, I'm going I gotta I gotta go. Yeah,
- 1:00:30Speaker 5: we gotta go back. We gotta go back to the
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: NFC South.
- 1:00:33Speaker 6: You know, usually we talked about usually we were talking
- 1:00:36Speaker 6: about uh overs and and I mean usually we're talking
- 1:00:39Speaker 6: about unders, but we talked about all overs.
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: So I'm gonna give you a team on Faden and
- 1:00:43Speaker 5: that's the Carolina Panthers.
- 1:00:45Speaker 6: Uh.
- 1:00:45Speaker 5: This is another one of those teams.
- 1:00:46Speaker 6: You know, rookie quarterback, so you know that's a thirty
- 1:00:50Speaker 6: seven percent chance right there over the last two decades
- 1:00:53Speaker 6: plus to go over the win total. But every year
- 1:00:55Speaker 6: there's one, there's these one or two teams where if
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: you could kind of pick them out early, they're just
- 1:01:01Speaker 6: gonna be poorly run, poorly coached. And you know, it
- 1:01:05Speaker 6: was Urban Meyer a couple of years ago. Hackett and
- 1:01:07Speaker 6: the Broncos last year. I think this year is gonna
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: be Frank reich and and the Carolina Panthers. Think I
- 1:01:14Speaker 6: hate every move they made outside of getting Bryce Young.
- 1:01:18Speaker 6: I mean, first of all, they get Bryce Young, and
- 1:01:22Speaker 6: I get it, like you gotta, you know, go all
- 1:01:24Speaker 6: out for your franchise quarterback, but come on, like, get
- 1:01:28Speaker 6: get a deal done that doesn't give up his future
- 1:01:30Speaker 6: number one receiver just to get him there.
- 1:01:33Speaker 5: So like you got Fleets for that.
- 1:01:35Speaker 6: You pay fourteen mil to Thie win Over thirty year
- 1:01:38Speaker 6: old cooked. You pay thirteen mel for Hayden Hurst, thirty
- 1:01:42Speaker 6: year old tight end not never had six hundred yards
- 1:01:44Speaker 6: in a season. You pay, you pay the most, You
- 1:01:46Speaker 6: spend the most at running back, which shows you don't
- 1:01:48Speaker 6: know what the hell you're doing. For Miles Sanders, who
- 1:01:50Speaker 6: goes from you know, a great situation to one where
- 1:01:53Speaker 6: it's like, you know, bad because the offensive line is
- 1:01:57Speaker 6: not good. Your top pick from last year, ik Yakwan
- 1:02:00Speaker 6: has regressed. Uh, this is just reeks of a team
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: that they're trying to get these like veteran stop gaps
- 1:02:07Speaker 6: because Frank Reich doesn't want to lose, even though he
- 1:02:10Speaker 6: should be rebuilding. He's coming off these disastrous seasons in Indianapolis.
- 1:02:15Speaker 6: But guess what he lost Gannon iber Flus. Uh.
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: You know, although all of his top Sirianni.
- 1:02:22Speaker 6: Once he started losing his coaching staff, that's when you
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: started seeing the coach blowing all those those games and
- 1:02:28Speaker 6: just being a disaster.
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: This Carolina team doesn't have any of it. The GM
- 1:02:32Speaker 5: is bad, the coach is bad.
- 1:02:34Speaker 6: These teams usually struggle anyway. The only reason they're even
- 1:02:38Speaker 6: at seven and a half is because they're in his
- 1:02:40Speaker 6: weak division. But at the end of the day, this
- 1:02:44Speaker 6: team is not gonna win many games. In my opinion,
- 1:02:46Speaker 6: I think they're gonna They're one of the few teams
- 1:02:48Speaker 6: that their coaches is gonna lose them games. And you're
- 1:02:52Speaker 6: already starting to see the depth the lack of depth
- 1:02:55Speaker 6: play out. I mean, they literally got shut out in
- 1:02:58Speaker 6: the first week of the preseason. Like who gets shut
- 1:03:00Speaker 6: out in the preseason, Like it's just got guys going
- 1:03:02Speaker 6: one on one like you Like I don't. I'm not saying,
- 1:03:04Speaker 6: you know, you have to win, but like getting shut out,
- 1:03:06Speaker 6: that just shows a lack of depth on this team.
- 1:03:08Speaker 5: So Bryce Young love them.
- 1:03:10Speaker 6: But the best thing that's gonna happen for this Carolina
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: team is they bottom out by like week twelve, so
- 1:03:15Speaker 6: that they're starting an actual rebuild at this time next
- 1:03:18Speaker 6: year and they could put some some good pieces around
- 1:03:20Speaker 6: Bryce because they spent they spent forty mil and their
- 1:03:22Speaker 6: offense is still the worst in the in the in
- 1:03:24Speaker 6: the division.
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: How do you do that?
- 1:03:25Speaker 8: Like how how how do you do that?
- 1:03:27Speaker 5: Like it's it's it's just ridiculous, Like Tampa Bay probably
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: wins more games than this team.
- 1:03:33Speaker 1: All right, well, look, uh the Dallas bet is gonna
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: haunt me. The the Panthers bet. I kind of agree
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: with you. I think that this is a team to
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: fade right now. I think I think we got a
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: lot done today, fellas, and I feel like we did
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: it without uh, you know, everybody actually drawing blood, which
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: is kind of a it's a little bit of an accomplishment.
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: Let me recap. I got right now.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: I got Brandon loving the Texans, which is kind of insanity.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: I got Raybond loving the Titans, which makes a little
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: bit more sense now that we know Tannehill's not going anywhere.
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: We all love the Falcons, Brandon loves the Cowboys, Raybon
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: hates the Panthers. We all agree that the NFC South
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: is both the most interesting division and the least interesting
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: division in the NFL. We all love Bjon Robinson. We're
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: all gonna root for Trevor Lawrence to get as many
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: touchdown passes as possible. As a reminder, the Favorites podcast
