- 0:00Speaker 1: Now back to the Mark Simone show on woor.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey.
- 0:06Speaker 1: Let's take some calls. Let's go to Mary Anne in Connecticut.
- 0:09Speaker 1: Mary Anne, how you doing?
- 0:11Speaker 3: Oh, good morning, Mark, thank you for taking my call.
- 0:14Speaker 3: I just wanted to tell you fear not, you will
- 0:17Speaker 3: have your pizza and your bagels. There are plenty of
- 0:20Speaker 3: unbromiated flowers out there on the market.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Oh.
- 0:23Speaker 3: My husband and I own a pizzeria, a restaurant, Lombardi's
- 0:27Speaker 3: Trattaria in will and Redding, Connecticut, and we use unbromeated
- 0:33Speaker 3: flower from Italy called double zero.
- 0:36Speaker 1: But that's probably more expensive to use than the regular stuff, right, slightly.
- 0:40Speaker 3: But it's not The difference is not it's not a problem.
- 0:43Speaker 1: And what does that potassium bromite actually do?
- 0:46Speaker 3: I you know, I really don't have any ideas. Something
- 0:49Speaker 3: they started adding I think was around World War Two
- 0:53Speaker 3: into the flowers to make me perhaps to make them
- 0:55Speaker 3: rise faster. I'm really not sure about that. But we
- 1:00Speaker 3: know that that's not healthy for you, so we don't
- 1:03Speaker 3: use it at all, and you don't have to use
- 1:05Speaker 3: it because there's plenty of flowers on the markets that
- 1:07Speaker 3: don't have them, that are not romeated.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Very good, excellent, Yeah, good to hear from an expert.
- 1:12Speaker 1: What's the name of your place? Excuse me, what's the
- 1:15Speaker 1: name of your place?
- 1:16Speaker 3: Lombardi Lombardi's Chaturia, Redding, Connecticut.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Beautiful town reading right next to Ridge fore Yes, so we.
- 1:22Speaker 3: Do a traditional Italian wood burning oven.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Very good. All right, well, thanks for calling. Excellent call.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Let's go to David in Connecticut. David, how you doing good? Mark?
- 1:34Speaker 4: Thanks? I got this question which drives me crazy about
- 1:37Speaker 4: this ambiguous fair share.
- 1:40Speaker 1: How much is the fair share? They never tell you
- 1:42Speaker 1: what the fair share is? Well again, right now, if
- 1:45Speaker 1: you're a billionaire, you're paying about fifty six fifty six
- 1:48Speaker 1: fifty seven percent if you're living in New York. That
- 1:50Speaker 1: sounds like way hip of it. Nobody should be paying
- 1:52Speaker 1: that amount. That's immoral to take that much money from somebody.
- 1:55Speaker 1: And again, the top one percent is paying thirty eight
- 2:00Speaker 1: percent of the taxes, which is a little that's way
- 2:02Speaker 1: beyond their fair share. Let's go to Sergio in New Jersey.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I am if New York State an MRI. What's all
- 2:14Speaker 1: that noise? Oh machine?
- 2:16Speaker 4: Are we going on?
- 2:17Speaker 1: Oh? Okay, I'm gonna work.
- 2:21Speaker 4: New York stays. It's in a huge posit of natural gas. Yeah,
- 2:26Speaker 4: it could copy.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a very good point, Sergio. You know, thanks
- 2:30Speaker 1: to Andrew Cuomo, your electric bill went up like four
- 2:33Speaker 1: hundred percent. You know, remember your electric bill was like
- 2:37Speaker 1: one hundred dollars. Now it's three hundred. That's Andrew Cuomo
- 2:40Speaker 1: that did that. He banned fracking, no natural gas. He
- 2:44Speaker 1: shut down Indian Point, our nuclear plant that's twenty five
- 2:47Speaker 1: percent of our electricity, and those two things have major
- 2:51Speaker 1: electric bill go sky high. That's why that happened. Let's
- 2:55Speaker 1: go to Mike in Florida. Mike, how you doing. Good morning, Mark,
- 2:59Speaker 1: that's Mike. These lawmakers make me.
- 3:03Speaker 4: Ye, did we lose mic may not cause cancer?
- 3:06Speaker 1: Yeah, go ahead.
- 3:08Speaker 4: So they want to get rid of an additive that
- 3:11Speaker 4: may or may not get rid of cancer, these lawmakers.
- 3:14Speaker 4: But the same lawmakers want to allow people food stamp
- 3:17Speaker 4: recipients to die soda, So which is more damaging some
- 3:21Speaker 4: kid who's raised on soda. So we have his kids,
- 3:24Speaker 4: you know, his chief fall out and we have to
- 3:25Speaker 4: pay for that as taxpayers. And then he gets diabetes
- 3:28Speaker 4: and we have to pay for his care for that.
- 3:30Speaker 4: Until they're just so self righteously wrong, all the time.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good point. They're usually wrong about everything.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Great call Mike. You know, you know the great job
- 3:39Speaker 1: would be be a laboratory rat, because that's what they test.
- 3:42Speaker 1: You know, if you're a laboratory rat, they keep giving
- 3:44Speaker 1: you soda, pizza, bagels. I mean, it's only good stuff
- 3:49Speaker 1: they test you. Let's go to Mike in Memphis, Tennessee. Mike,
- 3:52Speaker 1: how you doing.
- 3:55Speaker 2: Great?
- 3:55Speaker 5: Good Mark, good morning. Hey all this talk about corresponds
- 3:59Speaker 5: to dinner and the I'll be curious, So I looked
- 4:02Speaker 5: up the very first Friars roast on YouTube, and it
- 4:07Speaker 5: was with Johnny Carson getting roasted.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Well, actually, actually the first first Friar's roast was about
- 4:14Speaker 1: nineteen sixteen. The Carson roast was in the late sixties.
- 4:17Speaker 5: Oh no, no, I mean televised.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Well, actually the first televised roast. They did a couple
- 4:22Speaker 1: in the fifties. One was for Ed Sullivan, one was
- 4:24Speaker 1: for Humphrey Bogart. But the Carson roast is on YouTube.
- 4:27Speaker 1: It's great. Nineteen sixty eight, sixty nine.
- 4:31Speaker 5: Thinety sixty eight. Yeah, but it was amazing to see
- 4:35Speaker 5: Groucho March there and Flip Wilson. But the interesting thing
- 4:40Speaker 5: for me was I've always wondered who Curtis Lee were
- 4:43Speaker 5: reminded me of his voice. Yeah, Alan King was the host,
- 4:47Speaker 5: and Alan King and Curtis to me, sounds exactly alike.
- 4:53Speaker 1: And I don't know about that Alan King similarity, but
- 4:56Speaker 1: Alan King they were. They were kind of loud. They
- 4:58Speaker 1: would talk. There was a loudness to them. I mean
- 5:01Speaker 1: in a good way. That that was just one of
- 5:03Speaker 1: the secrets of Valentin exactly.
- 5:05Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 5:05Speaker 1: Yeah, Alan King's delivery.
- 5:06Speaker 5: Yeah, but it's worth watching. And of course it was
- 5:09Speaker 5: absolutely hilarious with Don Rickles on there too.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Yeah, there's actually three of those. There's three of those.
- 5:17Speaker 1: It was the same group. They would just switch so
- 5:20Speaker 1: there's a Johnny Carson roast. In the next day they
- 5:22Speaker 1: would tape another one where Don Rickles was the guy
- 5:25Speaker 1: being roasted. It was the great Gary Smith, the producer. Yeah,
- 5:29Speaker 1: they're all on YouTube. Just type Friars Roast YouTube and
- 5:32Speaker 1: they're up there. Same thing with the Dean Martin ROAs.
- 5:34Speaker 1: You know, they would fly like fifteen celebrities to Las
- 5:38Speaker 1: Vegas and they would tape like eight roasts. They would
- 5:40Speaker 1: just keep switching who was being roasted. But it was
- 5:42Speaker 1: the same group. Let's go to Tony in White Plains. Tony,
- 5:46Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 5:47Speaker 2: Yeah, Hi, Mark, Mark. I thought of a good commercial
- 5:51Speaker 2: for our mid time elections for the Republicans. You take
- 5:54Speaker 2: every montage that you could think of that you need
- 5:58Speaker 2: an ID for, and you put him into to a
- 6:01Speaker 2: sequence and you show him on TV. And then you
- 6:03Speaker 2: showed this little old lady. She's shopping in a supermarket
- 6:06Speaker 2: and she got a crock full of groceries there. She
- 6:08Speaker 2: puts them on the counter and the clerk says, oh,
- 6:11Speaker 2: I have to get that. She's got a six pack
- 6:13Speaker 2: of beer. She sticks it up. She says, I need
- 6:15Speaker 2: to see your ID.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, actually the montage exists. It's been done online
- 6:19Speaker 1: a million times. It's more done like a list. On
- 6:22Speaker 1: one side you'll see four hundred things that you need
- 6:24Speaker 1: an ID for, and the other side you'll just see
- 6:26Speaker 1: one thing what you don't need an ID for. Voting. Hey,
- 6:30Speaker 1: when we come back. The great comedian Jimmy Fayla. He's
- 6:33Speaker 1: on WR every night nine to midnight. Also does the
- 6:37Speaker 1: best late night show Fox on Saturday night ten o'clock.
- 6:41Speaker 1: But we'll talk to him next on seven to ten.
- 6:43Speaker 1: WR
