Speaker 1: Hello there, welcome back to Empower your Soul.
• 0:02
Speaker 1: Last night on the Mediumship Mastermind, we were talking all about messages.
• 0:07
Speaker 1: So I had a class about messages and true to form spirit always brings in in the middle of these sessions what we're actually supposed to talk about, not necessarily what's on the agenda, and this is how all of my classes go.
• 0:21
Speaker 1: Spirit challenges the shit out of me.
• 0:23
Speaker 1: It challenges the shit out of my students.
• 0:25
Speaker 1: I'm so of my students.
• 0:26
Speaker 1: I'm so sorry students, but it's a wild ride and it's always magical and insightful.
• 0:34
Speaker 1: So I wanted to take a moment to talk about kind of how that went down in our mediumship mastermind last night and obviously invite you, if you're interested, in joining them, your mediumship development, because it's freaking awesome.
• 0:42
Speaker 1: I will make you think outside of the box.
• 0:45
Speaker 1: There's no question about it, not me, spirit, I just create the space for that to happen.
• 0:49
Speaker 1: So last night in the mastermind, true to form you know I am a nerd I have my PowerPoint slides because I think people are visual and auditory learners, so I want to make sure there's a visual component to my classes.
• 1:02
Speaker 1: And there was the basic information about the flow.
• 1:07
Speaker 1: Right, it was basic about.
• 1:09
Speaker 1: Here's how messages come in.
• 1:12
Speaker 1: This is how you know spirit might be talking about a message.
• 1:14
Speaker 1: This is how you can make spirit move to a message.
• 1:16
Speaker 1: This is what the messages will consist of and this is what it looks like and feels like when the spirit's message is done.
• 1:22
Speaker 1: And where we really went deep were the messages and what they consist of.
• 1:29
Speaker 1: And it was such an interesting discussion because when we're really talking about it, there's this, there's so many directions I want to go, so bear with me as I kind of get spirit to get me down a path that hopefully makes a little bit of logical sense.
• 1:48
Speaker 1: But I think that sitters come in having expectations about what they want to hear from a message.
• 1:54
Speaker 1: And so you, as somebody who may, I'm going to say, go to a medium to get a reading, I'm going to challenge you to think about what messages would you want to receive from your departed loved ones.
• 2:07
Speaker 1: If you had the one chance to talk to your departed grandmother again, what would she be most likely to tell you?
• 2:14
Speaker 1: And it's just interesting because I think a lot of people come to mediums for several reasons, I guess.
• 2:22
Speaker 1: But you should be coming to a medium if you're looking to continue the communication.
• 2:28
Speaker 1: As I mentioned before you're looking for healing from grief or missing them, or maybe you know, needing to know that you made the right decision, especially if, for example, you had to like put a pet down or things like that and or looking for help and guidance and advice and feedback on what's going on in your life, like those are the three main categories of messages that I think most mediumship falls under Ding Validation for you there, and so where things can get off track in a reading is if you are expecting your departed loved one to come in and say a certain thing, whether that's evidence, whether that's part of the message, if you only want feedback or guidance on a specific thing.
• 3:14
Speaker 1: Right, I'm being called back to in my head the first amazing medium that I'd ever been to.
• 3:26
Speaker 1: I think I've told this story before, but I got a call from my dear friend and she's like you need to go see this medium.
• 3:33
Speaker 1: She was a colleague of mine technically and we were both into mediumship and I was like that sounds cool.
• 3:38
Speaker 1: So I book with this lady.
• 3:39
Speaker 1: I drive a couple hours to go see her.
• 3:41
Speaker 1: Pay, pay, cash, book the appointment on telephone, like it's.
• 3:46
Speaker 1: I mean it's as anti internet Google lookup as you could possibly get.
• 3:50
Speaker 1: And I remember sitting there and she's like, why are you here?
• 3:54
Speaker 1: And I'm like I don't know, I just feel called to be here, I don't know.
• 3:57
Speaker 1: And so the messages she relayed in in that reading for me I'm laughing about this because I can feel spirit laughing and I don't know where they're going with this.
• 4:07
Speaker 1: But this is what it's like with mediumship.
• 4:08
Speaker 1: I feel the comedy, before the comedy comes through, the messages were shit.
• 4:14
Speaker 1: Can I say that she was the best medium I had ever been to and the messages were shit?
• 4:23
Speaker 1: Okay, when I say the messages were shit, oh my God, they're making me realize this right now.
• 4:30
Speaker 1: The way this medium worked is she called in a name and if you didn't recognize the person, essentially she kicked them out.
• 4:36
Speaker 1: Um, and so she had a whole lot of names of people that I didn't know.
• 4:43
Speaker 1: I'm like I don't know who this person is.
• 4:45
Speaker 1: I don't know who this person is.
• 4:46
Speaker 1: The few people that came through were my departed mother-in-law, my aunt oh shit, I forgot the third one.
• 4:54
Speaker 1: They're gonna get pissed at me.
• 4:55
Speaker 1: I'm gonna say those were the two big hitters.
• 4:58
Speaker 1: I'm sorry whoever else I forgot.
• 5:00
Speaker 1: There was a couple that came through too, but those were the two where the really, really big messages came from.
• 5:07
Speaker 1: And I had just had my daughter at the time and my aunt came through essentially to I was having a crisis at work, I didn't know if I should leave my corporate job and go consulting, and my daughter was just born and I'm just like I don't know what I should do and like literally the whole reading was don't worry about it, everything's going to be fine.
• 5:25
Speaker 1: And looking back at now, I'm chuckling about this reading because at the time I wanted direction.
• 5:30
Speaker 1: I wanted spirit to tell me what the fuck I should do.
• 5:33
Speaker 1: I wanted clear next steps and guidance, because I was that asshole client right About what my path is going to look like, where am I going to go?
• 5:43
Speaker 1: Because in my brain I had path A and I had path B and I just wanted spirit to tell me should I take path A or should I take path B?
• 5:51
Speaker 1: What they gave me was a whole bunch of bullshit about it doesn't matter.
• 5:55
Speaker 1: And looking back now you listening to me say this on a podcast.
• 5:59
Speaker 1: How fucking hilarious is that message?
• 6:01
Speaker 1: Right, like it didn't matter which path I took, because spirit was fucking right.
• 6:05
Speaker 1: It did not matter what path I took, because I'm here doing metaphysical work.
• 6:08
Speaker 1: Not in that reading Did I think that I was a medium, had no idea.
• 6:13
Speaker 1: So, spirit, the time I'm sure, showed up to this reading laughing in their minds about what I wanted the message to be, and they're just like, oh no, we're not going to tell you that Because, yeah, in the grand scheme of things, the questions I wanted the message to be and they're just like, oh no, we're not going to tell you that Because, yeah, in the grand scheme of things, the questions I wanted the answer to didn't fucking matter at all.
• 6:30
Speaker 1: And so I walked into that session being like give me path A or give me path B, and they didn't give me anything.
• 6:37
Speaker 1: But what, oh God?
• 6:40
Speaker 1: Don't make me cry.
• 6:40
Speaker 1: It's been a while since I cried on this podcast.
• 6:42
  Speaker 1: Fuck you, spirit.
• 6:43
Speaker 1: But what they did give me was was proof of life after death.
• 6:50
  Speaker 1: Right, they.
• 6:55
Speaker 1: She gave me undeniable evidence of my departed mother in law and my aunt.
• 7:01
  Speaker 1: Right, the message.
• 7:06
Speaker 1: That was the message I needed.
• 7:07
Speaker 1: That's not the message I asked for, and I think that's like the big difference.
• 7:10
Speaker 1: This is me trying to move away from the shit that's going to make me cry, because what I asked for wasn't what I needed.
• 7:19
Speaker 1: It's what I wanted, but it wasn't what I needed, right, and so we can move away from it.
• 7:25
Speaker 1: Spirit says, by the way, the names they gave me were all my departed husbands, or, sorry, not my departed husband.
• 7:31
Speaker 1: God, it's so funny.
• 7:32
Speaker 1: I've said that twice today.
• 7:33
Speaker 1: Shit, not a premonition, just a fuck up.
• 7:37
Speaker 1: Was my husband's departed family?
• 7:39
Speaker 1: All of them, all the names I couldn't take, were all his.
• 7:42
Speaker 1: Was that a message for him that this is real too?
• 7:46
Speaker 1: You bet your ass Like he was shook when he listened to the recording after he's like holy shit, that's my grandfather, that's this person, that's that person.
• 7:53
Speaker 1: His cousin that had departed came through like four times with his legal name, but I didn't know him by his legal name.
• 7:58
Speaker 1: It was really funny.
• 8:01
Speaker 1: Actually, I thoroughly loved it.
• 8:04
Speaker 1: I just had to put it out there.
• 8:07
Speaker 1: But the message of what I did receive that day was that this shit is real, right, and that got me hooked, and that got me hooked to going to the next medium, to going to the next medium and eventually that medium telling me that I am a medium and going down this rabbit hole.
• 8:24
Speaker 1: So this is what I'm talking about, about we walk clients, walk in with expectations about what they want to hear, what they expect to hear from their departed loved ones expectations about what they want to hear, what they expect to hear from their departed loved ones.
• 8:36
Speaker 1: But spirit needs to give you what it needs to give you, not what you want to hear.
• 8:39
Speaker 1: And so this creates this really weird dichotomy for the mediums who have clients walking in I love you all but with emotional baggage and expectations about what they want their loved one to say.
• 8:52
Speaker 1: Because we, as mediums, feel that energy, we feel the desperation, we feel the need.
• 9:00
Speaker 1: We know Don't think for a second that we don't know what you want to hear.
• 9:05
Speaker 1: We know what you want to hear.
• 9:08
Speaker 1: We actually know what you need to hear for you to heal and move on, know what you need to hear for you to heal and move on.
• 9:15
Speaker 1: And I think that's the hardest part about being a medium is knowing and feeling what you need and not seeing spirit deliver.
• 9:23
  Speaker 1: That it's a mindfuck as a medium.
• 9:27
Speaker 1: It is such a mindfuck and this was part of the conversation last night is how do you know?
• 9:34
Speaker 1: Because there was one of the women in the group was like I know that my center needed to hear an apology, but spirit didn't give it.
• 9:43
Speaker 1: What am I supposed to do?
• 9:45
Speaker 1: Should I give the apology?
• 9:46
  Speaker 1: And I'm just?
• 9:46
Speaker 1: And I said no, you need.
• 9:49
Speaker 1: Our job as mediums is to be the channel of information.
• 9:54
Speaker 1: We are not responsible for the messages, we are not responsible for the tone.
• 9:59
Speaker 1: We are only responsible for being the conduit for the message spirit wants to give.
• 10:04
Speaker 1: So even if we can feel more, whether it's psychic, whether our client has explicitly said it, whether it is us just knowing, there's a huge, bigger picture, bigger story to this.
• 10:16
Speaker 1: We have to stay true to what spirit wants us to say and how they want us to say it, and sometimes that'll rip your heart out.
• 10:26
Speaker 1: Like that will rip your heart out.
• 10:28
Speaker 1: I mean you will cry Me as the medium that's when I cry in sessions, right?
• 10:32
Speaker 1: I mean you will me as the medium that's when I cry in sessions, right?
• 10:36
  Speaker 1: No-transcript, this isn't the place.
• 10:41
Speaker 1: They're not ready for that message yet.
• 10:44
Speaker 1: And or holding back on what you want to hear for your own personal development and perspective.
• 10:52
Speaker 1: And so there has to be this ridiculous trust as mediums, and this is why we need to be healed to do this work.
• 11:02
Speaker 1: We need to come in, realizing and putting our ego aside and our biases aside, to help our clients the best way that we can, because we cannot come in and trying to be the superhero, the people pleaser that wants to make our clients happy.
• 11:18
Speaker 1: We have to come in as this clear vessel that delivers the message exactly the way the spirit wants us to deliver the message, no more, no less.
• 11:27
Speaker 1: And so, which is hard, right, which is hard, because I think us as mediums, take this personally and we think that I must be missing something If they're saying everything, but I'm sorry, it's me, I missed it.
• 11:47
Speaker 1: I guarantee you didn't miss it.
• 11:49
Speaker 1: I'm guarantee you, the spirit didn't want you to say I'm sorry, and this was a really good example last night, because the sitter wanted to hear I'm sorry, but instead the spirit went all around it, all around, it took responsibility for the actions and the relationship and everything like that, but they wouldn't say they're sorry.
• 12:11
Speaker 1: And it was just funny.
• 12:13
  Speaker 1: I think hindsight's 2020 with all this stuff, it's always 2020.
• 12:19
Speaker 1: And I just love how, in the mastermind, they'll ask me these situations and even situations I've already weighed in on, and spirit will give me more insight and like a little bit of information, as kind of like this sneak peek, this little chuckle about like the, the, the, everything, because, as spirit in this example refused to say I'm sorry.
• 12:40
Speaker 1: I heard them laughing in my head and I heard them say it's because they chose this life.
• 12:45
Speaker 1: They don't know it yet, but that was a blessing, that wasn't a curse, right, and like.
• 12:57
Speaker 1: These are the things that sound so fucking insensitive to sitters, which is why we can't say it, which is why the spirits don't give it to us, because we sound like assholes, because there's so much more out there Like there's so much more out there, like there's so many bigger storylines, there's so many big soul contracts that we have no fucking idea why things happen and we won't know until we're in the spirit world to be like, oh my god, that was the ripple effect.
• 13:18
Speaker 1: And I think there was a lovely reading that I had the other day with a client and wanting the client, wanting their departed loved one to fix a huge problem in their lives.
• 13:30
Speaker 1: And what spirit showed me in this very delicate way, because I couldn't, I couldn't tell that person that this is part of your soul contract, that you were the strong one in the family, that you, your soul, chose this.
• 13:41
Speaker 1: I'm sorry if you're listening to this and you know this is you.
• 13:44
Speaker 1: I'm'm sorry, this is what I couldn't say in the session.
• 13:47
Speaker 1: Fuck, fuck, I'm sorry, but like I can't fix it for you because this was part of our journey and it sucks and it's shitty and no one should have to go through this 100%.
• 13:58
Speaker 1: My human brain says, fuck this, I can't believe you would choose this, I can't believe anyone would choose this.
• 14:04
Speaker 1: And in our ego-centered brain, no, like we can't imagine.
• 14:07
Speaker 1: But there's things beyond our comprehension about why this stuff happens.
• 14:11
Speaker 1: Why do we choose this?
• 14:12
Speaker 1: Why does and and and?
• 14:13
Speaker 1: The way spirit showed it in my head was a beautiful spider web.
• 14:16
Speaker 1: It's all connected and the best that we can do is pull on the threads a little bit to ease up on the pain, to ease up on the circumstances a little bit, but we can't change the foundation of the spider web, because if we take out this one section of the spider web, the rest of it falls, and I don't know what that means.
• 14:32
Speaker 1: I don't know what what that means, right?
• 14:37
Speaker 1: I don't know the ripple effect of changing what it's like.
• 14:40
Speaker 1: It's like those old shows, like going back in time to the dinosaurs and stepping on a cricket or whatever, and it changes the whole future.
• 14:47
Speaker 1: That's what it's, that's essentially what they showed me with the spider web.
• 14:50
Speaker 1: It's like you can't take that out because it ruins the whole web.
• 14:53
Speaker 1: It changes everything in the whole web.
• 14:54
Speaker 1: It changes everything in the space time continuum, you know.
• 14:57
Speaker 1: And so I thought what a beautiful, eloquent, eloquent example.
• 15:02
Speaker 1: And I think I think it's the same thing when it comes to some of this information.
• 15:08
Speaker 1: I think providing the information to people changes the spider web too much.
• 15:11
Speaker 1: Some people are going to have to learn the lesson the hard way.
• 15:16
Speaker 1: Some people are not, cannot comprehend some of the stuff that we, as mediums, see and comprehend from the spirit world on a daily basis, and it's, it's a whole lot of muck.
• 15:24
Speaker 1: I'm so sorry, but it is.
• 15:26
Speaker 1: And so you aren't delivering the messages wrong as a medium If your client is upset about it.
• 15:39
Speaker 1: As long as you have stayed true to what you have seen, perceived, received from the spirit world, you have done your part to be the true conduit that you are supposed to be in this work.
• 15:54
Speaker 1: And, as a sitter, I'm going to challenge you If you didn't receive the message you wanted.
• 16:02
Speaker 1: There is a reason you received what you wanted.
• 16:05
Speaker 1: There is a reason you received what you needed.
• 16:07
Speaker 1: So I want you to.
• 16:08
Speaker 1: Really, my daughter is so good at slamming doors everybody she should be.
• 16:12
Speaker 1: Is there a job for professional door slammers?
• 16:14
  Speaker 1: Sign her up.
• 16:16
Speaker 1: Holy shit, this girl can slam doors like nobody's business.
• 16:20
Speaker 1: Fucking kids I love them, but fucking kids, so I'm gonna.
• 16:28
Speaker 1: So I'm going to challenge you, as that sitter is, if you didn't get the message you expected, why?
• 16:35
Speaker 1: I want you to look at the, the message you got, and it might not make sense right now.
• 16:41
Speaker 1: Maybe it makes sense, like my daughter is nine now, nine years later, about why you got what you got and why you didn't get what you wanted, because I guarantee you spirit does not miss a beat.
• 16:55
Speaker 1: They are all like, they are all knowing, all knowledgeable.
• 16:58
Speaker 1: They know exactly what you need.
• 16:59
Speaker 1: They're given those breadcrumbs to you.
• 17:01
Speaker 1: There is a reason they gave you what they gave you.
• 17:03
Speaker 1: Really look deep into it as to why comes to you.
• 17:05
Speaker 1: There is a reason they gave you what they gave you.
• 17:06
Speaker 1: Really look deep into it as to why.
• 17:07
Speaker 1: So yeah, messages aren't perfect.
• 17:08
Speaker 1: They don't function the way that they should.
• 17:11
Speaker 1: Let me say it differently.
• 17:14
Speaker 1: That's not the right way to say this.
• 17:15
Speaker 1: They don't function the way that we want it to all the time.
• 17:21
Speaker 1: But I promise you, as long as you're true to the message and accepting of the message spirit is giving, it's going to have more nuggets of gold than you can ever ever imagine.
• 17:36
Speaker 1: If you have a story about a ridiculous message you gave or received, I would love to hear it.
• 17:40
Speaker 1: If you're okay, sharing it on the podcast, like hit me up at podcast at medium Nicolecom.
• 17:44
Speaker 1: How did this hit for you?
• 17:45
  Speaker 1: Did it resonate?
• 17:46
Speaker 1: Um, did it slap?
• 17:48
Speaker 1: As my 11 year old would say, did it slap?
• 17:50
  Speaker 1: Bet right?
• 17:53
Speaker 1: Sorry for those of you that don't have the kids, oh god, the slang is horrible nowadays when he makes fun of me.
• 17:58
Speaker 1: My son makes fun of me for the old 90s slang.
• 18:00
Speaker 1: I made him watch encino man.
• 18:02
Speaker 1: Oh my god, it was the best.
• 18:04
Speaker 1: It was like for those of you that have that like tween age kids and you grew up in the 90s like I did.
• 18:10
Speaker 1: I was born in the 80s, by the way, I'm not, was not born in the 90s, but we watched Encino man with my son, with Pauly Shore and his, all his Pauly Shore, isms and I.
• 18:20
Speaker 1: It was the best day of my life.
• 18:22
Speaker 1: It surpassed me getting married, watching my son be like what is he even saying?
• 18:32
Speaker 1: And I was like this is how you sound to me.
• 18:34
Speaker 1: Okay, I'm gonna leave it there.
• 18:37
Speaker 1: I'm sure there's a parallel in that message, right, Because the message I'm gonna let you all sit with that.
• 18:40
Speaker 1: I am not going to dissect that, but there is something in watching Encino man and not being able to understand my son's slang, and then having him watch Encino man and not having him understand my slang, like this is what it's like.
• 18:52
Speaker 1: I'm going to leave that parallel with you to mull on after this episode and if you want to decipher it, hit me up email.
• 18:58
Speaker 1: Podcast at medium and Nicolecom.
• 18:59
Speaker 1: All right, I love you all from my soul to yours.
• 19:02
Speaker 1: I hope you have the most amazing message heartfelt.
