- 0:00Chapter 32 of Isaiah. First we'll pray.
- 0:05Dear God, please let the Holy Spirit give us wisdom and
- 0:10insight as we read through this and help us to understand what
- 0:14you have this, what you have in mind for us when we read through
- 0:20this chapter in Jesus name, Amen.
- 0:23Well, as I've said before, this is another chapter where it's
- 0:27all about Jesus and it starts out, see a king will reign in
- 0:35righteousness and rulers will rule with justice.
- 0:41So this is only Jesus, because if Isaiah was talking to either
- 0:49Judah or Israel, and he was talking about either Babylon or
- 0:55Assyria, who is going to then, you know, conquer them and
- 0:58destroy their. In fact, I think it had already
- 1:01happened to Israel, the 10 tribes of Israel, they were
- 1:05already taken into captivity. But this was, you know,
- 1:11something about the future. And it says a king will reign in
- 1:14righteousness. Well, after both of those
- 1:17southern Kingdom and northern kingdoms were defeated by
- 1:20Babylon and Assyria, they existed no more.
- 1:24There were no more kings. There isn't a king right now in
- 1:28Israel, and there hasn't been. So it says, see, a king will
- 1:32reign. So that's Jesus the Messiah,
- 1:35Jesus Christ. See, a king will reign.
- 1:38That's the very first sentence. See, a king will reign in
- 1:42righteousness, and rulers will rule with justice.
- 1:46Each one will be like a shelter from the wind and a refuge from
- 1:50the storm. The streams of like streams of
- 1:55water in the desert and the shadow of a great rock in a
- 2:00thirsty land. So the shadow is a place like a
- 2:05covering a great rock. Jesus is the rock, the rock that
- 2:12is, is cut from the stone that will crush the, the final
- 2:17Kingdom in Daniel's dream. And he's, so he is the great
- 2:21rock and the shadow of the great rock in a thirsty land, a land
- 2:25that's wanting, wanting for wanting something, wanting a
- 2:29refreshing drink in a spiritual sense, not a literal sense.
- 2:35This is very, very symbolic. Everything in here, but I'm
- 2:38going to read through some scripture that talks about being
- 2:41hungry and being thirsty and what that symbolism is
- 2:46throughout the Bible. And then there's another one
- 2:51too. There's another symbolism here
- 2:52about being blinded or being blind, and I will read about
- 2:57that also. So then the eyes of those who
- 3:00see will no longer be closed. So there's people whose eyes are
- 3:10closed, then the eyes of those who see will no longer be
- 3:16closed. So that's kind of if you have to
- 3:19think for a minute. So the eyes of those who see, so
- 3:22they already see, but they will no longer be closed.
- 3:26That doesn't make sense, does it?
- 3:27If you just read it for what it is, it's like, well, if you can
- 3:29see, then your eyes are open. But that's not what I mean.
- 3:34That's what Isaiah is saying right here.
- 3:37Their eyes are really not open. Their spiritual eyes are not
- 3:40opened. They are blind.
- 3:43And and even though their eyes are open and they think they can
- 3:46see, they're blinded. They're blinded for certain
- 3:50reasons. And that's what I just, you
- 3:53know, if I've searched blind, then I probably could get more,
- 3:57but I searched blinded. And so I will read to you what
- 4:01comes up in the new international version.
- 4:04There are five different authors, actually, not 5
- 4:10different authors. I guess it's about 3 different
- 4:13authors that talk about blinded. And you know, I could search
- 4:17blind, blindness, blinded, blind, blind, you know, any
- 4:23version of that and it will all mean the same thing.
- 4:26So you'll probably make it will make sense once we read this.
- 4:30So in Zechariah Chapter 11, verse 17, it says woe to the
- 4:34worthless shepherd who deserts the flock.
- 4:38May the sword strike his arm and his right eye, may his arm be
- 4:43completely withered, his right eye totally blinded.
- 4:48That's not helping us with the definition.
- 4:51But then in John chapter 12 verse 40, it says he has blinded
- 4:59their eyes and hardened their hearts.
- 5:03So they can neither see with their eyes nor understand with
- 5:09their hearts nor turn. And I would heal them.
- 5:13So this one is you need to read it in context to get what it's
- 5:18saying. And this is so starting in John
- 5:24chapter 12 verse 37, even after Jesus had performed so many
- 5:30signs in their presence, they still would not believe in him.
- 5:37This was to fulfill the word of Isaiah the prophet Lord, Who has
- 5:44believed our message, and to whom has the arm of the Lord
- 5:48been revealed? For this reason they could not
- 5:52believe, because, as Isaiah says elsewhere, he has blinded their
- 5:58eyes and hardened their hearts. So they can neither see with
- 6:03their eyes nor understand with their hearts, nor turn.
- 6:07And I will would heal them. Isaiah said this because he saw
- 6:13Jesus's glory and spoke about him, yet at the same time, many,
- 6:19even among the leaders, believed in him.
- 6:22But because of the Pharisees, they would not openly
- 6:25acknowledge their faith for fear they would be put out of the
- 6:30synagogue. For they loved human praise more
- 6:35than praise from God and see that can affect all of us.
- 6:39If we are more worried about what other people think rather
- 6:42than what does God think, we should analyze everything about
- 6:47our lives and about ourselves not so much as well what does
- 6:52this person think about me, but more about what does God think
- 6:56about me. And if you gets that God would
- 7:00be happy with you. You don't need to worry about
- 7:02what somebody else thinks about you, because it doesn't really
- 7:06matter. Then Jesus cried out.
- 7:10Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the
- 7:16one who sent me. So if you believe in Jesus, that
- 7:19means you believe in God the Father.
- 7:21The one who looks at me is seeing the one who sent me.
- 7:26So Jesus said this before where he was a reflection of the
- 7:30Father and anyone who saw him saw the Father.
- 7:34Then Jesus says I have come into the world as a light so that no
- 7:40one who believes in me should stay in darkness.
- 7:44So no one that believes in Jesus would remain doing evil things
- 7:49in darkness. So they would, they would, they
- 7:51would be doing, you know, they would be light like Jesus is
- 7:54light rather than darkness like evil is darkness.
- 7:59If anyone hears my words but does not keep them, I do not
- 8:03judge that person. For I did not come to judge the
- 8:07world, but to save the world. There is a there is a judge for
- 8:14the one who rejects me and does not accept my words.
- 8:18The very words I have spoken will condemn them at the last
- 8:23day. So when Jesus came, he came to
- 8:28save, but when he returns, that's when judgement comes.
- 8:33So when Jesus came, he said, if anyone hears my words but but
- 8:37doesn't keep him, I do not judge that person.
- 8:39For I didn't come to judge the world, but to save the world.
- 8:42So he came to die on the cross, and by his death on the cross,
- 8:46that's how he saved the world. But then the judgement's going
- 8:51to come later, probably because God's patient.
- 8:53He didn't do it all at one time. For I did not speak on my own,
- 8:58but the Father who sent me commanded me to say all that I
- 9:03have spoken. I know that his command leads to
- 9:08eternal life. So whatever I say is just what
- 9:12the Father has told me to say. So again, this is this is about
- 9:17this blindness. And there were a few more verses
- 9:22too about blindness. So the people of Israel were
- 9:26blinded because they refused to believe.
- 9:30And so God because of their refusal, he hardened their
- 9:34hearts. And then they can't.
- 9:35So we really shouldn't. I don't know.
- 9:39We shouldn't. It's amazing though, because
- 9:43some Jewish people come to faith and believe in Jesus even though
- 9:47they were raised Jewish. But there's a lot of people who
- 9:49are Jewish who will not come to faith.
- 9:52And I don't know why God allows some eyes to be opened and
- 9:57others not to. But he does say if you seek me,
- 10:01you will find me. So maybe it's a matter of, of
- 10:05that I, I'm not sure. So then in Acts 22, it says my
- 10:11companions led me by the hand into Damascus because the
- 10:16brilliance of the light had blinded me.
- 10:19So this was Paul talking and he was on the road to Damascus when
- 10:23he saw a vision of Jesus and that blinded him.
- 10:27It affected his eyesight, but Jesus wanted to use Paul to to
- 10:34reach other people and he wanted the Paul to stop persecuting
- 10:39Jesus because he was going after everyone who believed in Jesus.
- 10:42And he was a very zealous Jew at that time until Jesus, you know,
- 10:48blinded him literally and and then told him how he could
- 10:54become blind no more. And so he he listened and then
- 10:59he actually contributed to a good chunk of the New Testament
- 11:03of the Bible. And then in Second Corinthians
- 11:06chapter 4, verse 4, Paul says the God of this age has blinded
- 11:12the minds of the unbelievers, so they cannot see the light of the
- 11:18gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of
- 11:24God. So he's connecting Christ to
- 11:28being the image of God, Jesus to the image of God.
- 11:32And he's he's aware. So Paul also was a a Jewish
- 11:36person and he became Christian, a Christ follower, a disciple of
- 11:41Christ. So first John chapter 2 verse
- 11:4511. But anyone who hates a brother
- 11:48or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness.
- 11:53They do not know where they are going because the darkness has
- 11:56blinded them so often darkness is symbolic in the Bible for
- 12:02evil and the rebellion against God.
- 12:06So anyway, what Isaiah says then the eyes of those who see will
- 12:12no longer be closed. God's going to open the eyes of
- 12:16the people of Israel when he returns.
- 12:19Jesus will, and the ears of those who hear will listen.
- 12:23The fearful heart will know and understand, and the stammering
- 12:27tongue will be fluent and clear. No longer will the fool be
- 12:31called noble, nor the scoundrel be highly respected.
- 12:37For fools speak folly. Their hearts are bent on evil.
- 12:41So here it's relating fools to people who do evil.
- 12:45They practice ungodliness and spread error concerning the
- 12:50Lord. So even though they think
- 12:53they're doing the right thing and they think they're
- 12:55intelligent, they are spreading error concerning the Lord that's
- 13:00talking about Jesus, because they're denying Jesus.
- 13:04The hungry they leave empty and from the thirsty they withhold
- 13:09water. So this isn't about literally
- 13:11eating and drinking, but it's about spiritual, the spiritual
- 13:17reality like hunger. God fed the Israelites manna,
- 13:23which was a heavenly bread, I guess, or heavenly food that was
- 13:27from heaven and that was symbolic of Jesus.
- 13:33And why that's symbolic is because this like I, it's just
- 13:39the way that the whole entire Bible talks about things like
- 13:44Jesus. Here's what Jesus said about in
- 13:48John chapter 6 verses 35 and then 48.
- 13:52Then Jesus declared I am the bread of life.
- 13:58Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes
- 14:02in me will never be thirsty. So he's the food and the drink.
- 14:07He's everything that we need. And whoever comes to Jesus will
- 14:11never be hungry, will never be thirsty.
- 14:14And that's a spiritual sense, like we will be fulfilled
- 14:19through Jesus. And he said, I am the bread of
- 14:22life. So you have to kind of like,
- 14:24think about that, the bread of life.
- 14:26That's like, we need to eat food to survive.
- 14:31Well, that's what we need Jesus to survive.
- 14:38So we, yeah, we need what Jesus did on the cross to survive, to
- 14:43have to be in eternity, to be in God's Kingdom.
- 14:48And then when it we talk about thirsty, what the Bible says
- 14:51about thirsty, in Psalm 107, verse 5, it says they were
- 14:55hungry and thirsty, thirsty and their lives ebbed away.
- 15:01And then in verse 9 it says, for he satisfies the thirsty and
- 15:06fills the hungry with good things.
- 15:09And then in verse 33 it says he turns rivers into a desert,
- 15:14flowing springs into thirsty ground.
- 15:20And then in Proverbs 25, verse 21, if your enemy is hungry,
- 15:24give him food to eat. If he is thirsty, give him water
- 15:27to drink. Sure, that's a literal sense.
- 15:32You could do that. But then even more so when you
- 15:35look at what hungry and thirsty refers to in the Bible, it's
- 15:38that spiritual food and that spiritual drink.
- 15:43It is. That is what ultimately the
- 15:46Bible is pointing to. And a lot of times the Bible has
- 15:49a literal and a symbolic meaning to it.
- 15:54And I believe that's where hungry and thirsty have both of
- 15:57those meanings. So let's see.
- 16:02As in Isaiah 29, we read this already as when a hungry person
- 16:07dreams of eating but awakens hungry still.
- 16:10As when a thirsty person dreams of drinking but wakes awakens
- 16:14faint and thirsty still. So it will be with the hordes of
- 16:18nations that fight against Mountain Zion.
- 16:22They won't be satisfied and they will not partake in God's
- 16:28Kingdom. So it's again a a symbolic
- 16:34meaning each and then where we read each one will be like a
- 16:38shelter from the wind and a refuge from the storm, the
- 16:40streams of water in the desert and the shadow of the great rock
- 16:43in a thirsty land. Like the people don't even
- 16:45realize we are a thirsty land and we are thirsty for God.
- 16:51But it's, and you know, the the great rock.
- 16:54I mean, that's what's also interesting about what Moses
- 16:57did. This just came to mind as I was
- 16:59just talking about how God said, he said speak to the rock and
- 17:04then water will flow from it. But Moses actually hit the rock
- 17:09to get water to flow from it. And God was kind of upset about
- 17:13that because he wanted to show the Israelites something you
- 17:16just had to speak to the rock. But instead Moses struck the
- 17:20rock and then water flowed from it.
- 17:23But either way, he let the water flow from it.
- 17:25And that's also symbolic because Jesus is the rock.
- 17:28He is the cornerstone the the stone the builders rejected, and
- 17:33the water comes from him, the water of life.
- 17:37And there's just like so much symbolism and later on in the
- 17:41Book of Revelation it talks about there's going to be water
- 17:44that flows from the temple. And I don't know that could be
- 17:47both literal and symbolic. For fools speak fully.
- 17:53Their hearts are bent on evil. They practice ungodliness and
- 17:58spread error concerning the Lord.
- 18:00The hungry they leave empty and from the thirsty they withhold
- 18:04water. Then I there's there's plenty
- 18:09more parts, but then what I want to read where it refers to
- 18:13thirsty. But then in Matthew chapter 25,
- 18:18this is what Jesus says for I was hungry and you gave me
- 18:23something to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me
- 18:26something to drink. I was a stranger and you invited
- 18:29me in. He's he's talking about in that
- 18:32verse. It's kind of hard to understand
- 18:34out of context, but he's talking about, well, it'll kind of
- 18:37explain here. I'll read it more than the
- 18:40righteous will answer him. Lord, when did we see you hungry
- 18:43and feed you or thirsty and give you something to drink?
- 18:46And then it says, for I was hungry and you gave me nothing
- 18:49to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me
- 18:51nothing to drink. They will they also will answer,
- 18:54Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger need or
- 18:58needing clothes or sick in prison and did not help you?
- 19:03Jesus answered everyone. Oh wait, that's not part of
- 19:07sorry. That's a different book.
- 19:09So probably have to go back. So in Matthew chapter 25 verse
- 19:1445, he says he will reply truly I tell you whatever you did not
- 19:19do for one of the least of these you did not do for me.
- 19:22Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the
- 19:29righteous to eternal life. So see, he's not even really
- 19:33talking about like a physical hunger or thirsty.
- 19:37He is talking about spiritually. And this is something actually
- 19:42that just came is like I just became aware of actually right
- 19:46now while I'm talking about it, because I do often think that
- 19:50there's a literal and a symbolic meaning.
- 19:52And I thought, you know, the clothing part, like giving
- 19:57clothes. So all of us Christians are all
- 20:00about like, let's make sure we give are not even just
- 20:03Christians. I mean anyone in the world who
- 20:06cares for other people. They and they all have that.
- 20:10You know, within them where it's like, let's take care of the
- 20:14poor, let's give food to the poor, let's put clothes on the
- 20:17poor, let's, you know, do these things and visit those in prison
- 20:23and all of this stuff. And that's good.
- 20:27But there's a deeper meaning in Scripture about that.
- 20:30And the deeper meaning is an eternal meaning.
- 20:35So all the people who do not know the Lord, who do not know
- 20:38Jesus need food, they need Jesus, the bread of life, they
- 20:44need water, they need the water. That's eternal water, that it
- 20:49comes from Jesus. And I hope that is like you
- 20:54understand it the way I do because all of a sudden I just,
- 20:57I just realized that they said, you know, if you don't do this,
- 21:00then they will go away. The ones who don't get the food
- 21:02and water will go away to eternal punishment, but the
- 21:06righteous to eternal life. So it's not saying they're going
- 21:09to go away hungry. That wasn't fair that they
- 21:12didn't have food. They were hungry.
- 21:14They were starving people. No, it says if they don't, if,
- 21:18if we don't, who know the Lord don't give to the the
- 21:22spiritually hungry or the spiritually thirsty, then they
- 21:27will go to eternal punishment. Matthew 25 verse 46 clears that
- 21:32up and about clothes, Often when a person becomes changed, they
- 21:39are given a new set of clothes. That's symbolic of a new
- 21:43creation. When someone receives the Holy
- 21:46Spirit, then a person becomes a new creation.
- 21:51They their old garments are traded in for new.
- 21:55And that symbology is used throughout the Bible.
- 21:59I can think of it like in Joshua, it talks about doing
- 22:03that for Joshua, like taking off his dirty clothes and putting
- 22:06clean clothes on him. And it talks about washing your
- 22:10robes so that they're clean. Like there is like what you
- 22:14wear, what you cover yourself with, make sure it's covered.
- 22:17You're covering yourself with light with, you know, it's
- 22:21always a white for purity. And it's not like a dark cloak
- 22:25or anything. It's a white cloak and it's
- 22:27symbolic of Jesus being the light.
- 22:30So there's so much symbology in here and it's all pointing us to
- 22:35Jesus. So continuing on in, in verse 7
- 22:40of Isaiah from chapter 32, scoundrels use wicked methods.
- 22:44They make up evil schemes to destroy the poor with lies, even
- 22:49when the plea of needy is just. But the noble make noble plans,
- 22:54and by noble deeds they stand. You women who are so complacent,
- 23:02rise up and listen to me. You daughters who feel secure,
- 23:06hear what I have to say. In a little more than a year,
- 23:11you who feel secure will tremble.
- 23:15The grape harvest will fail. The harvest of fruit will not
- 23:19come. Tremble, You complacent women,
- 23:22shudder. You daughters who feel secure,
- 23:25strip off your fine clothes and wrap yourselves in rags.
- 23:29Beat your breast for the pleasant fields, for the
- 23:33fruitful vines, and for the land of my people, a land overgrown
- 23:38with thorns and breers. Yes, mourn for all houses of
- 23:43merriment and for this city of revelry.
- 23:48The fortress will be abandoned, the noisy city, deserted citadel
- 23:56and watchtower will become a wasteland forever.
- 24:01I thought that was interesting forever.
- 24:04So that hasn't happened to Jerusalem.
- 24:07And I know that Jesus protects Jerusalem in the end.
- 24:09So I don't know if, but I also know that there's a new
- 24:13Jerusalem that comes out of heaven, and it's way bigger than
- 24:17what the current Jerusalem is. And I guess there's some
- 24:21ambiguity about that now that I'm reading this and just
- 24:25thinking about that. Maybe that's why the new
- 24:28Jerusalem comes down is because the old Jerusalem will be
- 24:31completely destroyed. I don't know.
- 24:34But that's just the thought that came to my mind right now.
- 24:36While we're I'll do things doing this podcast because because of
- 24:40what Isaiah says forever, because why would he talk about
- 24:45something that was going to happen in A and I just don't get
- 24:49this part either. If there's some symbology here
- 24:52in a little more than a year, you who feel secure will
- 24:55tremble. So there probably is more
- 24:57meaning to that, but I don't understand it and the study
- 25:01Bible addresses it. But, you know, kind of like
- 25:04they're not even sure. But it seems like this entire
- 25:06chapter is about the return of Jesus, that period, rather than
- 25:12Assyria coming because you know what we read later, You know,
- 25:16sure, Assyria would be doing these devastating things to the
- 25:20land of Israel, but Israel was not a was not desolate forever.
- 25:29It it came back. And so is this a future
- 25:33prophecy? The delight of donkeys, A
- 25:36pasture for flocks till. So it's talking about, I'll
- 25:40start to read a little bit more because go back a little bit.
- 25:43So it makes sense. The fortress will be abandoned,
- 25:46the noisy city, deserted citadel and watchtower will become a
- 25:51wasteland forever. The delight of donkeys, A
- 25:55pasture for flocks till. The Spirit is poured on us from
- 26:02on high, and the desert becomes a fertile field.
- 26:07And the fertile field seems like a forest.
- 26:11The Lords justice will dwell in the desert, the his
- 26:17righteousness live in the fertile field.
- 26:21The fruit of that righteousness will be peace.
- 26:24We know that when Jesus returns, he will bring peace.
- 26:28Everything will be the final peace.
- 26:30It'll be like for the 1000 years that he reigns, there will be
- 26:33peace like we've never had before.
- 26:36Its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.
- 26:41So once a once Jesus establishes it, it's going to be forever.
- 26:47My people will live in peaceful dwelling places, insecure homes,
- 26:52in undisturbed places of rest. Is that a description of Israel?
- 26:59Has it been a description of Israel ever?
- 27:03It's never been that way. Maybe there might have been
- 27:07peaceful moments, but it seems like there's always been an
- 27:10enemy wanting to attack them all the way from the beginning of
- 27:14the Bible. So when the tribes, when they
- 27:18were established, I mean, from the very beginning, there was
- 27:21always enemies coming against them.
- 27:23So it's I, you know, this is this is the future.
- 27:27This is when Jesus returns. And it says, though hail
- 27:30flattens the forest and the city is leveled completely.
- 27:35That's where I'm getting what I don't know if Jerusalem will
- 27:38actually be leveled completely and that's why the new Jerusalem
- 27:41comes down. Like I said, that thought just
- 27:43came to mind while I was reading this though.
- 27:46Hail flattens. We know that God uses hail for
- 27:48judgement. He even the earliest book, the
- 27:51oldest book I think is the book of Job and it talks about have
- 27:54you seen my storehouses of hail, I think, and snow that are for
- 27:58times of war. So the hail flattens the forest.
- 28:03The forest is not just trees. It's symbolic of many different
- 28:08types of peoples and nations, like the olive tree is Israel,
- 28:14like the cedar tree is Lebanon, and then there's Myrtle trees,
- 28:20but I'm not sure what they represent and maybe they don't.
- 28:25But there's a lot of symbolism with trees because he would talk
- 28:29about what other prophets would talk about.
- 28:31I will cut down your tree like the what you've grown.
- 28:34And there's lots of symbol symbology in those things.
- 28:38How blessed you will be sowing your seed by every stream and
- 28:43letting your cattle and donkeys range free.
- 28:46And that's the end of chapter 32.
- 28:49And again, I think it's all about when Jesus reigns and
- 28:54Jesus Jesus Christ the Messiah. So hopefully you'll come back
- 28:59for chapter 33. And when I look ahead, I think
- 29:03this also has some end time implications.
- 29:06And I actually wrote Jesus on there too.
- 29:08So there's this is going to be another chapter about Jesus.
- 29:12And it seems like it's been so covered up that people don't
- 29:16talk about it. In fact, I forgot to read the
- 29:18questions and answers on the study Bible because sometimes
- 29:21they have different ideas than what I do.
- 29:24So I'm going to read those chapter 32.
- 29:28What king will reign in righteousness?
- 29:31Whether or not Isaiah's original readers understood it, this
- 29:35prophecies the coming Messiah, not an ordinary king.
- 29:39A perfect government will only be established under the rule of
- 29:43the Messiah. His righteousness will even be
- 29:46reflected by those who serve Him as the rulers or government
- 29:50officials. How will each man be like a
- 29:54shelter and a refuge? Some believe the words each one
- 29:58refer to all of the Lord's redeemed people, but most think
- 30:03this pertains to the rulers of the Messiah's righteous
- 30:06government mentioned in verse one.
- 30:10These rulers will reflect the protective and sheltering
- 30:13character of their king, whose eyes will be opened to all who
- 30:18earnestly seek to follow him. Christ gives eyes to see and
- 30:23ears to hear spiritual truth. If we receive Him, we will be
- 30:31receptive to God's truth. God had warned Isaiah that the
- 30:35people's eyes and ears would be shut to the truth.
- 30:39Their hearts would be hardened to God's message given through
- 30:43Isaiah. Here, however, God promised
- 30:46through Isaiah that the Messiah would heal such spiritual
- 30:51blindness and deafness. Why would a fool be considered
- 30:55noble? When people are spiritually
- 30:57blind and deaf, they often allow ungodly people.
- 31:02Fool means someone who prefers sin over righteousness, someone
- 31:07whose heart is bent on evil, to assume noble positions of
- 31:12leadership. Such a thing will not happen in
- 31:16this righteous Kingdom. Why were the women complacent
- 31:22and confident that they were secure?
- 31:24They were so caught up in their easy lives of luxury that they
- 31:28ignored deeper spiritual needs, both their own and their
- 31:32nations. Isaiah called attention to their
- 31:35complacency as just one example of Judah's twisted values during
- 31:41his day. What would happen in a little
- 31:44more than a year, though, we can't say with certainty.
- 31:48Many commentators suggest that this was a prophecy of Judah's
- 31:52invasion by the Assyrian king seen a cherub in seven O 1 BC,
- 31:56when only Jerusalem itself escaped major damage.
- 32:01In this case, the armies of Assyria would bring widespread
- 32:05destruction, rooting the harvest.
- 32:07Or perhaps the failure of the harvest would be due to the
- 32:10inability of the people because of the enemy occupation to
- 32:14gather the grapes and other ripe fruit.
- 32:17I just think that that doesn't make sense in context with the
- 32:23rest of it when it it absolutely seems like this is about the
- 32:26time of Jesus's reign. So but nobody knows.
- 32:31I mean, I don't even, yeah, I don't really get this.
- 32:34In a little more than a year, you who feel secure will tremble
- 32:38maybe in some point in the future will definitely know that
- 32:41or in hindsight will say, oh, that's what he meant there.
- 32:45So it was like one year of time. It's like everybody feels
- 32:49complacent. That's probably like what it
- 32:51means because it says when people are saying peace and
- 32:54security, suddenly destruction will come upon them.
- 32:59So it's kind of like something unexpected.
- 33:01But he's saying you're so complacent.
- 33:04But in a little more than a year, you who feel secure will
- 33:08be trembling, like there's going to be a drastic change in a
- 33:12little bit more than a year. So is this reference to
- 33:19Pentecost in Acts 2. As so often occurs in Isaiah,
- 33:23the prediction of tragedy and defeat is immediately followed
- 33:28by God's promise of hope. If Judah has trusted in all the
- 33:32wrong things and become barren and unproductive, God has a
- 33:36solution that will make possible true productivity and security
- 33:41His own spirit. This language of outpouring was
- 33:46destined to be far reaching being taken up by the prophet
- 33:51Joel in Joel chapter 2 verses 28 through 29, which was quoted by
- 33:57the apostle Peter after after the outpouring of the Spirit on
- 34:03the day of Pentecost in Acts chapter 2 verses 17 through 18,
- 34:08The also at the IT says in the last days, which technically you
- 34:13know, the the last days were the days of they began when the
- 34:18disciples when Jesus went away. That is like what they call the
- 34:23end of the age. And after Jesus left, after he
- 34:28rose from the dead and went back to the Father, then that period
- 34:34until that we're still in until he returns again is called by
- 34:40some prophecy people, I guess the church age.
- 34:44And that's supposed to be a period of 2000 years.
- 34:47And that's why people talk about 20-30 as being a possible date
- 34:56for a not date, but a year for Jesus's return, because if he
- 35:02died around 30 AD, 2000 years later would be 20-30.
- 35:10So there's, that's the reason why, because there's this, this
- 35:14church age and that's the age when it's called.
- 35:17I don't really like that terminology, but people use it
- 35:19when it's called the church age because everybody thinks about
- 35:22churches rather than people, but people make up the church.
- 35:26So it's when believers, it should be like the believers age
- 35:30is what it should be called the 2000 years.
- 35:33And then that's going to, I guess it's God's patience that
- 35:38he's waiting to see all the people that will come in and
- 35:42become believers within this time period of 2000 years.
- 35:46And the big question is nobody really can absolutely say what
- 35:51year it was that Jesus died on the cross.
- 35:53And not only that, but different rulers affected the calendars.
- 35:57So now our calendars are off. I mean, some are I think are
- 36:01even off by a couple 100 years. So we aren't going to really
- 36:07know other than the signs that Jesus gave us about his soon
- 36:11coming return. But as far as a calendar goes,
- 36:14we're we're just going to be guessing because everything so
- 36:19much has changed and it's just, it's just not possible.
- 36:25It's possible to know. Like I believe that it's 2000
- 36:28years after his death that he will return based on lots of
- 36:33different information from the Bible and from historical pieces
- 36:40of what the early church, the early believers believed.
- 36:45So yes, I do. I just don't think that we know
- 36:47what what actual year it was. So it could be a wide range that
- 36:53some will say it can go like 5 years forward, five years back
- 36:57from 2030. So we'll just have to see.
- 37:00But if so, if that is the case, I mean, that's only five years
- 37:03away from now when I'm recording this podcast.
- 37:08And you know, it could be earlier or it could be a lot
- 37:11longer. But again, like every podcast
- 37:14that I do, it's important to be prepared right now so that when
- 37:19Jesus returns that you will be happy about it and not fearful
- 37:25when he returns because his return is going to be a
- 37:29gathering of people and taking us into his into I guess the
- 37:35heavenly realm. So that because we go up into
- 37:37the sky. So that's why I think that's
- 37:39where we will go initially. But then again, we'll be here on
- 37:43earth at some point with Jesus because it says that we will to
- 37:46be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord.
- 37:49And then when he returns is also when people get their immortal
- 37:54bodies. So and the dead in Christ, the
- 37:57believers rise. The dead people who believed in
- 38:00Jesus and trusted in him will rise first and then those who
- 38:05are alive and remaining will then also be brought up to
- 38:10Jesus. So there's there's a lot to look
- 38:13forward to if you're a believer. And if you're not, make sure you
- 38:18seek God because he says you will be found and it's all about
- 38:22receiving eternal life. It's all about making it into
- 38:27the Kingdom with God, being in the presence of God, and being
- 38:32prepared to be in the presence of God.
- 38:34Because God is holy. He wants us, and we have to be
- 38:38holy actually, but we can't do it on our own.
- 38:41We need the Holy Spirit to make us holy.
- 38:44So when we believe all of this, God will send the Holy Spirit to
- 38:49us and help us remain with us until Jesus returns or until we
- 38:55pass away, whichever one comes first.
