- 1:44SPEAKER_07: Maybe we could do that.
- 1:45SPEAKER_09: Yeah, we could probably do that.
- 1:46SPEAKER_09: Something.
- 1:46SPEAKER_09: I don't really know have any, but I know.
- 1:48SPEAKER_07: I don't either.
- 1:49SPEAKER_07: Um I wonder if let me just do this real quick.
- 1:53SPEAKER_09: Sure, there's like a top ten list somewhere.
- 1:55SPEAKER_07: Yeah, let's see.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Top ten Halloween movies.
- 2:06SPEAKER_01: Must be spooky.
- 2:10SPEAKER_07: Alright.
- 2:11SPEAKER_07: There's a list right there.
- 2:12SPEAKER_07: We can that's one thing we could do.
- 2:13SPEAKER_07: Yeah, there we go.
- 2:14SPEAKER_07: Um I am not a um Are you recording?
- 2:17SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 2:18SPEAKER_07: Oh, okay.
- 2:19SPEAKER_07: We've just been talking.
- 2:20SPEAKER_07: It's just like I am not a scary movie guy.
- 2:23SPEAKER_07: Well, you should you're right.
- 2:24SPEAKER_07: We should we should start the episode.
- 2:26SPEAKER_07: Sorry.
- 2:26SPEAKER_01: Welcome to the O'Brien and Doug podcast.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: I'm O'Brien.
- 2:29SPEAKER_01: I'm Doug! I'm Spooky Doug! Doug Spooky.
- 2:35SPEAKER_01: What did we say we were calling this episode?
- 2:36SPEAKER_07: Halloween Halloweeny theme.
- 2:38SPEAKER_07: Halloween theme.
- 2:41SPEAKER_07: Or a Halloweeny theme episode.
- 2:43SPEAKER_07: Um it is episode two.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: What did you say?
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: 265.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: 265.
- 2:49SPEAKER_07: 265.
- 2:50SPEAKER_07: Um and uh I'm I promise I won't play this the whole time.
- 2:57SPEAKER_07: Um you're not even playing it now.
- 2:59SPEAKER_07: I'm not.
- 3:00SPEAKER_07: It's ghostly.
- 3:01SPEAKER_07: It's going by itself.
- 3:03SPEAKER_07: Um speaking of Halloween, I'm gonna tell you something that I did that was kind of cool um this weekend.
- 3:10SPEAKER_07: So I play well, number one, I played a gig with Buck Dynasty.
- 3:13SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 3:14SPEAKER_07: Which we haven't played together in six months.
- 3:16SPEAKER_07: Buck Dynasty, I think I've told the story, but for some reference, for some content uh context, um, there was a place I used to go play old country music called Campers Paradise.
- 3:28SPEAKER_07: Uh and we would go down there every Saturday.
- 3:30SPEAKER_07: Um, it's called Saturday Night Supper in a Song.
- 3:33SPEAKER_07: And went down there 20 plus years uh going down there and sitting in with these old guys playing old country music.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:40SPEAKER_07: And I always said it was like going to school.
- 3:42SPEAKER_07: Um and then the patriarch of the whole thing passed away.
- 3:47SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 3:47SPEAKER_07: Um, and they closed down the campground.
- 3:50SPEAKER_07: And they stopped doing the Saturday Night Supper song, obviously.
- 3:54SPEAKER_07: They turned the lodge into the his wife's house.
- 3:58SPEAKER_07: And you know, months went by, maybe even a year, I don't remember how long it was.
- 4:04SPEAKER_07: Uh they missed playing the music so much.
- 4:06SPEAKER_07: So they would invite select people to their house, uh, they'd set up all the musical instruments, and we would go and we would play for, I don't know, 20 or 30 really elderly folks.
- 4:17SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 4:17SPEAKER_07: Because it was really one of the only times they got to socialize.
- 4:20SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 4:20SPEAKER_07: And it was it was great.
- 4:22SPEAKER_07: And then they met with their um insurance person.
- 4:25SPEAKER_07: Sorry.
- 4:26SPEAKER_07: I forgot that was here, let me do that.
- 4:30SPEAKER_07: I uh and now and when you go to play it, you're gonna remember you can turn it up.
- 4:34SPEAKER_07: So they met with their insurance person and he said, Ah, you probably shouldn't be doing that.
- 4:38SPEAKER_07: Um liability, and you know, this is so they couldn't do it anymore.
- 4:46SPEAKER_07: So this band that used to go out and play for this select number of people, um, really enjoy playing together.
- 4:54SPEAKER_07: We have a good chemistry and it's it's fun.
- 4:57SPEAKER_07: And so six months go by and uh they reach out and they say, Well, we're gonna we're gonna throw our own little thing at the VFW and we're gonna raise money for veterans.
- 5:07SPEAKER_07: Kind of raise money for the veterans post.
- 5:09SPEAKER_07: Um and we're like, okay, just for the for that VF.
- 5:12SPEAKER_07: Just for that, just for that post.
- 5:13SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 5:14SPEAKER_07: Um and so we said, Yeah, okay.
- 5:17SPEAKER_07: So so we showed up.
- 5:18SPEAKER_07: We hadn't played together in over six months, and it was like no time had passed.
- 5:23SPEAKER_07: Oh yeah.
- 5:24SPEAKER_07: We had a great crowd, uh, raised a bunch of money.
- 5:26SPEAKER_07: Good.
- 5:27SPEAKER_07: Um, so it was fun.
- 5:29SPEAKER_07: So that was that was that.
- 5:31SPEAKER_07: But Sunday, I took par uh some of my chorus kids and Mr.
- 5:36SPEAKER_07: Brackdon took some of his uh band kids down to University Maine in Orno for The Nightmare Before Christmas.
- 5:45SPEAKER_07: Oh, the they were showing the with the Bangor Symphony Orchestra.
- 5:49SPEAKER_09: Right, I heard about that.
- 5:50SPEAKER_07: Yeah, and it was it's so funny how kind of like not full circle, but uh I had never seen the movie.
- 5:57SPEAKER_07: Oh, you've never seen it?
- 5:58SPEAKER_07: I'd never seen it.
- 5:59SPEAKER_07: Oh, okay.
- 5:59SPEAKER_07: Um and my kids had never seen it, and they didn't go with me or anything, but uh we just kind of it's one of those things, and pro I'm probably too strict.
- 6:09SPEAKER_07: We're probably too strict about this, but you know, like um hocus pocks.
- 6:13SPEAKER_09: It's kind of a niche movie anyway.
- 6:14SPEAKER_07: Yeah, so uh like hocus pocus, um like the the the witches anything that involves like the occult, the occult, yeah, we don't let our kids go near it.
- 6:25SPEAKER_07: Sure.
- 6:25SPEAKER_07: Even if it's fun.
- 6:27SPEAKER_07: It makes sense.
- 6:27SPEAKER_07: You know, even if it's fun.
- 6:28SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 6:28SPEAKER_07: And we never did, and uh you know, they could watch it now probably because they're older.
- 6:33SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 6:33SPEAKER_07: You know, but anyway, so I had never seen it.
- 6:37SPEAKER_07: And I well, so let me see.
- 6:40SPEAKER_07: How can I frame this?
- 6:41SPEAKER_07: So I took my my students down and did you go in that fancy van that you had when we went to the Collins Center?
- 6:50SPEAKER_07: A fancy van that I had?
- 6:51SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it was like a 10, 12 passenger van.
- 6:56SPEAKER_07: Did I take a van to the Collins Center?
- 6:58SPEAKER_09: I thought you did.
- 6:58SPEAKER_09: You gave me a ride to my vehicle after we got done playing there.
- 7:02SPEAKER_07: Why was I driving a fancy van?
- 7:04SPEAKER_09: Because you took people to the All State?
- 7:08SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah.
- 7:09SPEAKER_07: No, that was a caravan.
- 7:10SPEAKER_07: That wasn't a fancy van.
- 7:11SPEAKER_09: It was what?
- 7:12SPEAKER_07: That was a that was a minivan.
- 7:14SPEAKER_07: That's what I'm saying.
- 7:15SPEAKER_07: Oh, I thought you said like an eight-person, like a like a big van.
- 7:19SPEAKER_09: Well, it was the school minivan.
- 7:21SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 7:21SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 7:21SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 7:21SPEAKER_07: No, I didn't took a bus.
- 7:23SPEAKER_09: I thought it was bigger than that, but I don't know.
- 7:24SPEAKER_07: No, we took a bus.
- 7:25SPEAKER_07: Oh, you took a whole bus.
- 7:26SPEAKER_07: Yeah, because we had 35 kids.
- 7:29SPEAKER_07: Oh.
- 7:29SPEAKER_07: Yeah, so we had 35 kids.
- 7:30SPEAKER_07: So anyway, um the biggest compliment I can give to the Bangor Symphony Orchestra is you forgot they were there.
- 7:38SPEAKER_09: Really?
- 7:38SPEAKER_07: It was it was unreal.
- 7:42SPEAKER_07: Wow.
- 7:42SPEAKER_07: Uh and and here's here's why.
- 7:45SPEAKER_07: And this makes me think that because they've done this before with Star Wars, so what they do is they have this big screen and they show the movie, but the movie has no music.
- 7:53SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 7:53SPEAKER_07: And so the Bangor Symphony provides all of the music.
- 7:57SPEAKER_07: And I can imagine seeing Star Wars with the Bangor Symphony playing would be kind of cool.
- 8:01SPEAKER_07: That would be cool.
- 8:02SPEAKER_07: Right?
- 8:02SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 8:03SPEAKER_07: Uh so uh The Nightmare Before Christmas is a musical.
- 8:08SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 8:09SPEAKER_07: So they have to hit cues, right?
- 8:13SPEAKER_07: Because the singing is on in the movie.
- 8:15SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 8:16SPEAKER_07: But the music isn't.
- 8:17SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 8:18SPEAKER_07: So they all have in-ear in earpieces, and and the conductor has like a a video time, you know, and he's he there's a click track.
- 8:27SPEAKER_09: I'm sure, yeah.
- 8:28SPEAKER_09: Right?
- 8:28SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 8:28SPEAKER_07: Uh so anyway, that's the biggest compliment I can I can give them is as I'm watching the movie, I forgot they were there because you know, it synced so well with the movie, and the and even the the um volume, right?
- 8:44SPEAKER_07: I mean, even the mix was perfect, and it was like part of the movie.
- 8:51SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 8:51SPEAKER_07: They were so on cue with all the vocal, you know, all the singing and everything.
- 8:55SPEAKER_07: Yeah, and then I looked down, I was like, oh wait, they're playing this live.
- 8:58SPEAKER_07: It's just incredible.
- 9:00SPEAKER_07: And so, interestingly enough, um uh uh Monday I had one of my online classes, one of my professors, her name is Lindsay, and I was telling her about it, and she's like, I was in that show.
- 9:14SPEAKER_07: She was playing the bassoon.
- 9:16SPEAKER_07: Oh, okay, yeah, in the in in the back.
- 9:18SPEAKER_07: And then I had I had my other professor this today, and I was telling him about it.
- 9:22SPEAKER_07: He's like, I was in that show.
- 9:25SPEAKER_07: So they both play for the Bangor Symphony.
- 9:27SPEAKER_07: Cool.
- 9:28SPEAKER_07: Yeah, he was playing percussion and stuff.
- 9:29SPEAKER_07: Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 9:30SPEAKER_07: Um but it was it was quite amazing.
- 9:34SPEAKER_07: I hate the movie.
- 9:35SPEAKER_07: Yeah, like I said, it's an acquired take.
- 9:37SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I I I I and this is the way I said it too, is is I fully appreciate the imagination that went into it.
- 9:46SPEAKER_07: Well, it's a Tim Burton movie, right?
- 9:48SPEAKER_07: I mean, and the artistic, you know, I mean, everything about it I completely appreciate.
- 9:53SPEAKER_07: It's not my cup of tea.
- 9:54SPEAKER_07: It's just, you know, it's it's just kind of too out there for me.
- 9:57SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 9:58SPEAKER_07: You know, when a guy like lifts up his the his head and takes his brain out.
- 10:03SPEAKER_07: It's just like, yeah.
- 10:06SPEAKER_09: I used to work with a girl that was uh obsessed with that movie.
- 10:08SPEAKER_07: Yeah, the well the people that were there were all obsessed with that movie.
- 10:12SPEAKER_07: I'm sure yeah.
- 10:12SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 10:12SPEAKER_07: They had a uh costume parade at intermission, and so all these little kids and grown adults, I mean the adults went all out for this costume thing, and it was like, wow, you spent a lot of time on the there are rabid fans.
- 10:28SPEAKER_07: There are rabid fans for this movie.
- 10:31SPEAKER_07: Absolutely.
- 10:31SPEAKER_07: And actually, my um professor uh Lindsay, she said, I think it's the the best holiday movie ever.
- 10:39SPEAKER_09: Okay, that's them's fighting work.
- 10:41SPEAKER_07: I know, right?
- 10:43SPEAKER_07: Die hard.
- 10:44SPEAKER_09: Sorry.
- 10:46SPEAKER_07: Oh, where's my oh yeah, I don't want to we're not used to the new machine.
- 10:51SPEAKER_07: We're not used to the new machine.
- 10:53SPEAKER_07: All our buttons and the things.
- 10:54SPEAKER_07: I'll see if I can uh let's do this.
- 10:56SPEAKER_07: Uh because I have to give you something.
- 10:58SPEAKER_07: There we go.
- 10:59SPEAKER_07: There it is.
- 10:59SPEAKER_09: Um still there.
- 11:00SPEAKER_09: Ha ha!
- 11:02SPEAKER_07: So uh but it was great.
- 11:04SPEAKER_07: It was it was really cool.
- 11:05SPEAKER_07: Uh and I'm and I'm glad we went.
- 11:08SPEAKER_07: Oh, I turned it up.
- 11:09SPEAKER_07: Sorry.
- 11:11SPEAKER_10: Hey, that's pretty good.
- 11:12SPEAKER_07: Oh, is it watermelon?
- 11:14SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 11:14SPEAKER_07: And I have the orange.
- 11:15SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 11:15SPEAKER_07: Um, we should see if we get a sponsorship.
- 11:18SPEAKER_07: Sparkling ice.
- 11:20SPEAKER_07: Sparkling ice.
- 11:21SPEAKER_09: It's delicious.
- 11:22SPEAKER_09: It's delicious, also.
- 11:24SPEAKER_01: And it's zero sugar.
- 11:26SPEAKER_01: Zero sugar, man, and it tastes.
- 11:28SPEAKER_01: This is sparkling ice starburst.
- 11:29SPEAKER_01: Tastes great.
- 11:31SPEAKER_09: I don't know who makes it.
- 11:32SPEAKER_09: Tastes great.
- 11:32SPEAKER_09: Less filling.
- 11:33SPEAKER_09: Less filling.
- 11:35SPEAKER_09: I don't know if it's Coke or Pepsi or.
- 11:37SPEAKER_07: So my daughter is going for as um Glinda the Good Witch.
- 11:43SPEAKER_07: Ah, The Wizard of Oz.
- 11:44SPEAKER_07: Well, I think it's from Or is she going from Wicked?
- 11:48SPEAKER_07: I think she's going from Wicked.
- 11:49SPEAKER_07: Because a bunch of her girlfriends they all want to go together, and one of them's Dorothy.
- 11:54SPEAKER_07: One of them is uh whoever the other uh who's the bad witch.
- 12:00SPEAKER_07: I have no idea.
- 12:01SPEAKER_07: I don't either.
- 12:01SPEAKER_09: She's just I've only seen The Wizard of Oz.
- 12:04SPEAKER_09: I've never seen Wicked.
- 12:04SPEAKER_09: I haven't either.
- 12:05SPEAKER_09: So I just Actually's the Wicked Witch Witch of the West.
- 12:08SPEAKER_07: I've seen Wicked, I've seen parts of the second Wicked.
- 12:12SPEAKER_07: Wicked Two or whatever.
- 12:13SPEAKER_07: I have no idea.
- 12:14SPEAKER_07: Uh it wasn't I didn't like it.
- 12:16SPEAKER_07: I don't like musicals, period.
- 12:17SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you're not which is funny.
- 12:19SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 12:19SPEAKER_07: But Yeah, I know it is funny.
- 12:21SPEAKER_09: I I I get a kick out of that because I because I love like Phantom of the Opera.
- 12:25unknown: Right.
- 12:25SPEAKER_09: You're like, meh.
- 12:26SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 12:27SPEAKER_07: I'm like, do it.
- 12:28SPEAKER_07: And I don't mean I don't mean to be meh.
- 12:31SPEAKER_07: Uh actually, you know, I probably would like I probably would enjoy Phantom Phantom of the Opera more than uh Nightmare Before Christmas.
- 12:42SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah, yeah, indubitably.
- 12:44SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 12:44SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 12:45SPEAKER_07: That's a big word.
- 12:46SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it is.
- 12:48SPEAKER_07: Um so anyway, uh let's uh speaking of Phantom of the Opera.
- 12:54SPEAKER_07: Were we?
- 12:54SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I just mentioned it and see it's a segue into that.
- 12:57SPEAKER_07: Into the movies?
- 12:58SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 12:58SPEAKER_07: You want to do that now?
- 12:59SPEAKER_07: Let's do that now.
- 13:00SPEAKER_09: Yeah, might as well do it now.
- 13:00SPEAKER_07: Okay, so uh top ten.
- 13:02SPEAKER_07: We were talking about movies.
- 13:04SPEAKER_07: Best Halloween movies.
- 13:05SPEAKER_07: Now, are you a horror movie guy or no?
- 13:09SPEAKER_07: Neither am I.
- 13:10SPEAKER_09: I never I never it's not that I'm scared of them.
- 13:13SPEAKER_09: I just can't take them serious.
- 13:15SPEAKER_09: Because when I was how old was I?
- 13:18SPEAKER_09: How old were we?
- 13:19SPEAKER_09: Angela and I.
- 13:20SPEAKER_09: Our parents took us to the drive-in when we were really little to see Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
- 13:27SPEAKER_09: Oh my word.
- 13:30SPEAKER_09: And ever since then I just can't take any horror movie seriously.
- 13:33SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 13:34SPEAKER_09: So I'm just like, this is dumb.
- 13:36SPEAKER_07: Well, what about like uh because well like now I just don't watch any of that stuff.
- 13:43SPEAKER_07: It just doesn't interest me.
- 13:45SPEAKER_09: But I mean like like horror and gore, and I just don't I don't need I I would rather have something more suspenseful like The Exorcist or something like that.
- 13:55SPEAKER_07: That terrifies me, you know, because that's real.
- 13:57SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 13:57SPEAKER_09: You know what I mean?
- 13:58SPEAKER_09: Well, that's I mean I mean it's it's based on a real event.
- 14:01SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 14:02SPEAKER_09: But it's you know, it's Hollywood.
- 14:04SPEAKER_09: Of course it is.
- 14:04SPEAKER_09: So especially when she's like backwards crab walking down the stairs.
- 14:09SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 14:09SPEAKER_09: Have you ever heard Richard Pryor's take on The Exorcist?
- 14:14SPEAKER_09: Was it Richard Pryor or Eddie Murphy?
- 14:16SPEAKER_09: No, I think it was Richard Pryor.
- 14:18SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 14:18SPEAKER_07: Yeah, it was Richard Pryor.
- 14:20SPEAKER_09: Uh it's only Eddie Murphy's take.
- 14:22SPEAKER_09: What do you what what like from uh what was it?
- 14:25SPEAKER_09: It was either raw or delirious.
- 14:26SPEAKER_09: He's like, he's like, white people are like in haunted houses, they're always like, oh no, let's see what's in here.
- 14:32SPEAKER_09: He'd be like, it was black people, and he'd be like, cat out.
- 14:36SPEAKER_09: Ah, too bad we can't stay, baby.
- 14:38SPEAKER_07: Well, Richard Pryor's is almost the same.
- 14:40SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 14:40SPEAKER_07: Because it'd be like, he'd like uh black man walk in and he goes, Hello.
- 14:46SPEAKER_07: Goodbye.
- 14:47SPEAKER_07: Goodbye.
- 14:48SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I think I think Eddie Murphy's like was like, ah, this is a beautiful house, baby.
- 14:52SPEAKER_09: They might love it here.
- 14:53SPEAKER_09: Get out.
- 14:54SPEAKER_09: Too bad we can't stay, baby.
- 14:57SPEAKER_07: It's kind of the same thing, yeah.
- 14:58SPEAKER_07: But I re I remember Richard Pryor's version when he said stuff like, you know, get the get the cross at your, you know, things like that, you know.
- 15:07SPEAKER_07: Which we can't say on here, but uh but uh family show.
- 15:10SPEAKER_07: Yeah.

- 29:46SPEAKER_01: Roll roll ruggie.
- 29:48SPEAKER_01: Um let's see who it really is.

- 30:02SPEAKER_10: Mosher making that noise.
- 30:04SPEAKER_10: He's not scary at all.
- 30:07SPEAKER_07: Um okay, so let's get back to some music news.
- 30:12SPEAKER_09: Music.
- 30:13SPEAKER_07: Um Rush has added more dates already.
- 30:16SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah, I know.
- 30:17SPEAKER_09: They keep adding more every time I turn around, they're gonna be.
- 30:27SPEAKER_07: Sure he got tickets to the Boston?
- 30:28SPEAKER_07: No.
- 30:29SPEAKER_07: No?
- 30:29SPEAKER_07: No, he got tickets to New York before Boston was announced.
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: Oh waited.
- 30:35SPEAKER_07: So he's not and then they keep adding more, and he's like, What?
- 30:39SPEAKER_07: I paid I I paid this much money for these tickets.
- 30:42SPEAKER_07: I wonder how much he paid.
- 30:43SPEAKER_07: I don't know.
- 30:44SPEAKER_09: But I bet it was a pretty penny.
- 30:46SPEAKER_07: But he's like, I don't want to know who's in charge of you know the ticket prices and stuff like that.
- 30:52SPEAKER_07: And like, because they're adding all these shows, is the price still gonna stay the same?
- 30:56SPEAKER_09: Oh, yeah, it is.
- 30:56SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah, of course it is.
- 30:58SPEAKER_09: Economics of Screars.
- 31:00SPEAKER_07: Yeah, exactly.
- 31:01SPEAKER_07: Um so we've had a couple of uh interesting announcements uh tour-wise.
- 31:06SPEAKER_07: Sammy Hagar is going to uh England, he's gonna play the UK, which he hasn't done in like 30 years.
- 31:13SPEAKER_09: I was saying I don't even remember the last time he was over there.
- 31:16SPEAKER_07: Um but he's only doing six shows.
- 31:19SPEAKER_07: Six dates.
- 31:20SPEAKER_07: Uh he's almost eighty years old.
- 31:22SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I mean it's England, man.
- 31:23SPEAKER_09: It's not that big.
- 31:24SPEAKER_07: No, no.
- 31:26SPEAKER_07: But I mean you can do six shows in England and get away with it.
- 31:29SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 31:29SPEAKER_07: He's playing uh well, he's only got four listed here, but there are six dates.
- 31:34SPEAKER_07: Uh Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, and London.
- 31:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah, that's all that's all you really need.
- 31:38SPEAKER_07: He's playing the uh AO Arena.
- 31:41SPEAKER_07: Uh he's playing Wembley.
- 31:43SPEAKER_09: I mean I was gonna say, is he playing Wembley?
- 31:45SPEAKER_09: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 31:45SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:46SPEAKER_09: So that's like what do you can fit?
- 31:48SPEAKER_09: Like 90,000 people in the world.
- 31:50SPEAKER_07: Something like that, yeah.
- 31:51SPEAKER_07: And uh Joan Jett is is his support.
- 31:54SPEAKER_07: Oh, so Bon Jovi has announced a 2026 tour.
- 32:02SPEAKER_09: Really?
- 32:02SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 32:03SPEAKER_07: Um so the band announced seven shows last week, marking their first live performances in four years.
- 32:09SPEAKER_07: It's also their first concert sing since John Bon Jovi uh had his well publicized vocal court issues.
- 32:15SPEAKER_07: Um so let's see, let's see if I can find oh right, okay.
- 32:20SPEAKER_07: So all of them uh most of them are in New York.
- 32:24SPEAKER_07: They're playing Madison Square Garden in July of next year.
- 32:28SPEAKER_07: Uh one, two, three, four, five, six dates at Madison Square Garden.
- 32:32SPEAKER_07: That makes sense.
- 32:33SPEAKER_07: August, they're playing Edinburgh in the UK.
- 32:36SPEAKER_07: August 30th, they're playing Dublin.
- 32:37SPEAKER_07: Edinburgh.
- 32:38SPEAKER_07: And did I say Edinburgh?
- 32:40SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 32:40SPEAKER_07: Sorry.
- 32:41SPEAKER_07: So okay.
- 32:41SPEAKER_07: And then September 4th, they are in London at Wembley Stadium.
- 32:46SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 32:47SPEAKER_09: Um so it'll be interesting to see if that I'm surprised nobody's playing that arena that Joko played at when he went to London.
- 32:54SPEAKER_09: Uh the O2 or whatever it is.
- 32:56SPEAKER_07: Um is that still called the O2?
- 32:58SPEAKER_09: Because did they change it already?
- 33:00SPEAKER_07: I don't know.
- 33:01SPEAKER_07: Um is that in is that in London?
- 33:03SPEAKER_09: I think it's right in London.
- 33:05SPEAKER_09: And then like the new hit place to play?
- 33:08SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I thought so.
- 33:08SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 33:09SPEAKER_07: Uh well, actually, so I see uh Sammy Hagar is playing Manchester, but he's playing the AO arena.
- 33:14SPEAKER_09: I wonder if that's a different thing.
- 33:16SPEAKER_07: I think it is.
- 33:17SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 33:18SPEAKER_07: Uh Brian Setzer has cancelled the Stray Cats.
- 33:21SPEAKER_09: I saw that.
- 33:22SPEAKER_09: I don't know what's going on.
- 33:23SPEAKER_07: Uh health issues.
- 33:24SPEAKER_07: Oh, for sure.
- 33:25SPEAKER_07: Uh for for Brian.
- 33:26SPEAKER_07: Uh he's due to serious illness.
- 33:30SPEAKER_07: Um that doesn't sound good.
- 33:32SPEAKER_07: No, it doesn't.
- 33:33SPEAKER_07: Uh I'm trying to no specific reason has been given for Setzer's recent serious illness.
- 33:38SPEAKER_07: Um he had he had an autoimmune disease that was affecting his guitar playing earlier in the year.
- 33:43SPEAKER_07: So, but it doesn't really s go into detail.
- 33:46SPEAKER_09: I wonder if it's a recurrence of that probably.
- 33:50SPEAKER_07: I will tell you this.
- 33:51SPEAKER_07: There's a lot, I don't know what's going on with Jimi Hendrix's Bold as Love.
- 33:56SPEAKER_07: Um Access Bold as Love.
- 33:58SPEAKER_07: Because Ultimate Classic Rock has well, let me just uh let me see if I can load some of these.
- 34:05SPEAKER_07: Because I did look at some of these headlines earlier.
- 34:07SPEAKER_07: I didn't look read at a lot of the stories.
- 34:10SPEAKER_07: But um one of the first stories I came across was well here's here's an article four days ago.
- 34:19SPEAKER_07: Um Dweezel Zappa.
- 34:21SPEAKER_07: Jimi Hendrix's Bold as Love is an audio movie.
- 34:26SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 34:27SPEAKER_07: Uh so I'm not sure why he's talking about that.
- 34:30SPEAKER_07: But if you if you scroll up, there's another story that says Where is it?
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: Where is it?
- 34:44SPEAKER_07: Oh no.
- 34:45SPEAKER_07: Steve Vi says Jimi Hendrix's bold as love had a huge impact.
- 34:50SPEAKER_09: I wonder if it's like an anniversary of the album or something.
- 34:54SPEAKER_07: And then uh Paul Rogers.
- 34:57SPEAKER_07: Paul Rogers loves Jimi Hendrix's emotional bold as love.
- 35:01SPEAKER_07: So I'm just gonna click on this story because I want to know w w what it's talking about.
- 35:07SPEAKER_07: Uh six episode of USR's Bold as Love Recalled and Celebrated video series.
- 35:13SPEAKER_07: Um it's something that Ultimate Classic Rock has doing.
- 35:17SPEAKER_07: They've released it.
- 35:18SPEAKER_07: Okay, so it's uh Bold as Love Recalled and Celebrated.
- 35:22SPEAKER_07: And it's a video series released barely six months after the Jimi Hendrix experience.
- 35:25SPEAKER_07: May 67 debut are experienced.
- 35:34SPEAKER_09: Okay, that makes sense.
- 35:35SPEAKER_07: Uh so by I was like, I was reading all these headlines, I'm like, what's going on with Jimi Hendrix's Boldest album?
- 35:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I wonder if it's like a 50th and 60th anniversary of the album or what.
- 35:44SPEAKER_07: Why are we talking about it?
- 35:45SPEAKER_07: I mean, it's awesome.
- 35:46SPEAKER_07: It's a great album.
- 35:46SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 35:47SPEAKER_07: I can't complain about that, so um Brian Adams albums worked ranked worst to best.
- 35:54SPEAKER_07: I do want to take a look at that because I'm a big fan of Brian Adams.
- 35:57SPEAKER_07: This is true.
- 35:58SPEAKER_07: Um, and I want to see if I agree.
- 36:01SPEAKER_07: Actually, um let me just take a brief look at it.
- 36:04SPEAKER_07: Okay, so Spirit.
- 36:06SPEAKER_07: Let me take a gander Stallion of the Cimarrons.
- 36:10SPEAKER_07: Uh he did the soundtrack to that Disney movie.
- 36:14SPEAKER_01: Here I am, this is me.
- 36:17SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you've ever heard that or not.
- 36:19SPEAKER_01: I remember the movie, I don't remember the song.
- 36:20SPEAKER_07: Yeah, he did he did the a bunch of songs on the soundtrack.
- 36:23SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 36:24SPEAKER_07: Um I don't know that I would consider that a Brian Adams album.
- 36:28SPEAKER_09: Not really.
- 36:28SPEAKER_09: Unless he did all the songs.
- 36:30SPEAKER_07: Uh he teamed up with composer Han Zimmer for the soundtrack.
- 36:34SPEAKER_07: Um he co-wrote and sings most of the songs on Spirit.
- 36:38SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 36:38SPEAKER_07: So I guess you could.
- 36:39SPEAKER_09: Oh, I guess it's a Brian Adams though.
- 36:40SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 36:41SPEAKER_07: Shine a light.
- 36:42SPEAKER_07: Why is he naked?
- 36:43SPEAKER_07: He's uh you don't know that he's naked.
- 36:45SPEAKER_09: He's naked.
- 36:46SPEAKER_07: Uh Shine a Light from 2019, I will say.
- 36:48SPEAKER_09: What a perv.
- 36:49SPEAKER_07: I don't know this album.
- 36:51SPEAKER_07: I don't have this album.
- 36:52SPEAKER_09: Oh, it's because he's naked.
- 36:55SPEAKER_10: He's like, ooh, Brian Adams naked now.
- 36:58SPEAKER_07: Brian Adams, You Want It, You Got It is ranked 14th.
- 37:00SPEAKER_07: That's from that's his first album from 81.
- 37:03SPEAKER_07: Uh that's a that's a great album, but he does sound very green.
- 37:07SPEAKER_07: He does sound very new and unpolished.
- 37:10SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah.
- 37:11SPEAKER_07: But great, some great songs.
- 37:12SPEAKER_09: Yeah, I mean it's first album.
- 37:13SPEAKER_07: See, this Why is that so low?
- 37:16SPEAKER_07: I don't know.
- 37:16SPEAKER_07: Into the Fire from 1987, I think is one of his best albums.
- 37:20SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that should be way up.
- 37:22SPEAKER_07: And people obviously don't agree with me.
- 37:24SPEAKER_07: They have it ranked at number 13.
- 37:25SPEAKER_07: Bunch of dummies.
- 37:26SPEAKER_07: Cuts Like a Knife is number 12.
- 37:29SPEAKER_07: See, now I I have this album.
- 37:32SPEAKER_07: It's called Eleven.
- 37:34SPEAKER_07: Um Is it at number 11?
- 37:37SPEAKER_07: It's at number 11.
- 37:40SPEAKER_07: That's not suspicious at all.
- 37:42SPEAKER_07: Cuts Like a Knife and Into the Fire are way better than that album.
- 37:45SPEAKER_07: I'm sorry.
- 37:45SPEAKER_07: I believe that they are.
- 37:46SPEAKER_07: Room Service is a great album.
- 37:48SPEAKER_07: That's at number 10.
- 37:50SPEAKER_07: Um On a Day Like Today is also a pretty good album.
- 37:52SPEAKER_07: That's at number nine.
- 37:54SPEAKER_07: 18 Till I Die from 96 is at number eight.
- 37:57SPEAKER_07: Brian Adams, I guess this would be his debut.
- 38:00SPEAKER_07: Uh after recording an album with the Canadian band Sweeney Todd, teenage Brian Adams formed a songwriting partnership with Jim Valance.
- 38:07SPEAKER_07: Um their first efforts resulted in his debut in 1980.
- 38:10SPEAKER_07: I don't know this album, so I can't really say anything.
- 38:12SPEAKER_07: I thought You Want It, You Got It was his first album.
- 38:15SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 38:16SPEAKER_07: I was wrong.
- 38:17SPEAKER_07: Uh Get Up from Brian Adams.
- 38:19SPEAKER_07: That's the one that Jeff Lynn produced.
- 38:22SPEAKER_09: Is that one of the newer ones?
- 38:23SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 38:24SPEAKER_07: And every song uh I think I've played it for you.
- 38:26SPEAKER_07: Or I've played parts of it for you.
- 38:28SPEAKER_07: Um Yeah, didn't we talk about it when it came out?
- 38:31SPEAKER_07: Did we?
- 38:32SPEAKER_07: I think we did.
- 38:33SPEAKER_07: Um the reason I say that uh is because let me get to it here.
- 38:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah, because we said something about it sounding very traveling and Wilberry's.
- 38:43SPEAKER_07: Very, yeah, very much so.
- 38:45SPEAKER_07: Um I just want to make sure uh to reference that.
- 38:50SPEAKER_07: Let's see.
- 38:51SPEAKER_07: Um okay, so where is it?
- 38:55SPEAKER_07: This is uh see, I have that album on a day like today, MTV Unplugged, live, live, live, into the fire.
- 39:02SPEAKER_07: Get up.
- 39:03SPEAKER_07: Alright, so right here.
- 39:07SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 39:08SPEAKER_07: Right?
- 39:09SPEAKER_07: I mean it's it's it's Brian Adams.
- 39:13SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I mean, he wrote the songs and he's singing, but it's Jeff Lynn.
- 39:17SPEAKER_09: That's totally Jeff Lynn.
- 39:23SPEAKER_06: Um that sounds like Brian Adams.
- 39:32SPEAKER_07: But his lyrics are have never been fantastic.
- 39:37SPEAKER_09: But he's not he's not a great lyricist.
- 39:40SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 39:40SPEAKER_09: You know?
- 39:41SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 39:41SPEAKER_09: Um He comes up with some pretty good hawks.
- 39:44SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah.
- 39:46SPEAKER_07: Uh brand new album, Roll with the Punches.
- 39:48SPEAKER_09: Is that a silver penis?
- 39:50SPEAKER_07: No, it's a boxing glove.
- 39:52SPEAKER_09: Okay, good.
- 39:53SPEAKER_07: From here, it looks phallic.
- 39:57SPEAKER_07: This brand new album uh came out this year, obviously.
- 40:00SPEAKER_07: Um I've only heard a couple of songs, um, and they're okay.
- 40:06SPEAKER_07: I would have put uh Into the Fire to me is so much better.
- 40:10SPEAKER_07: Tracks of my years from 2014.
- 40:12SPEAKER_07: This was uh an album of covers um that he did.
- 40:15SPEAKER_07: And yes, that is Brian Adams with the hair.
- 40:18SPEAKER_09: Really?
- 40:18SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 40:18SPEAKER_09: I never would have guessed that.
- 40:19SPEAKER_09: That was just some random dude.
- 40:21SPEAKER_07: Yep.
- 40:21SPEAKER_07: So happy it hurts.
- 40:23SPEAKER_07: I have this album.
- 40:23SPEAKER_07: It's not great.
- 40:24SPEAKER_07: It's okay.
- 40:25SPEAKER_07: It's okay, it's not great.
- 40:26SPEAKER_07: Waking Up the Neighbors is pretty great.
- 40:28SPEAKER_07: That's a good album.
- 40:28SPEAKER_07: Uh that's at number two, and of course, Reckless is number one.
- 40:31SPEAKER_00: Wow, that's a good one.
- 40:31SPEAKER_07: And I would put that at least that makes sense.
- 40:33SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I would put that at number one.
- 40:34SPEAKER_07: Uh, and apparently with his uh latest album, um, he somehow convinced uh Mutt Lang to come out of retirement and work with him on it.
- 40:50SPEAKER_07: Really?
- 40:51SPEAKER_07: Um so uh he he wasn't producing, he contributed keyboards on five of the ten tracks and bo backing vocals on nine.
- 41:02SPEAKER_07: Um so it'd be interesting to see.
- 41:05SPEAKER_07: I I haven't heard that full album uh in its entire you know in its entirety, but oh well.
- 41:11SPEAKER_07: Um what's you now?
- 41:15SPEAKER_01: Oh, let's talk about mammoth.
- 41:16SPEAKER_01: Yes, I want to talk about mammoth.
- 41:17SPEAKER_01: The new mammoth.
- 41:18SPEAKER_07: Yes, we have to talk about the new mammoth.
- 41:19SPEAKER_09: Mammoth, mammoth, so mammoth.
- 41:22SPEAKER_07: So Doug came in uh guns ablazin tonight uh to record the podcast, and he said, Holy cow, I got the new mammoth, which I haven't uh well, I have now, um, because when you tell me there's a great album, uh you don't have to tell me twice.
- 41:38SPEAKER_07: Um It's a great album.
- 41:40SPEAKER_07: It's a great album.
- 41:41SPEAKER_07: Um and I was telling you there was one song I heard in the car today as I was uh on lunch, lunch break, and and it was called One of a Kind, which is the first track on the album.
- 41:50SPEAKER_07: Yep.
- 41:50SPEAKER_07: Very Foo Fighters.
- 41:52SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 41:52SPEAKER_07: And you said pretty much the whole album.
- 41:53SPEAKER_07: You said the whole album.
- 41:54SPEAKER_09: Very, very Foo Fighter.
- 41:55SPEAKER_07: So let's just sample that one song and you'll see what I mean.
- 41:58SPEAKER_07: Uh this is one of a kind.
- 44:00SPEAKER_09: Well, my favorites are the end.
- 44:02SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 44:03SPEAKER_09: Uh Selfish is really good.
- 44:05SPEAKER_09: Alright, hold on, I wanna play Selfish.
- 45:18SPEAKER_00: It's yeah, it's the production is just so tight.
- 45:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's so good.
- 45:23SPEAKER_00: Um go ahead.
- 45:24SPEAKER_09: You were you said my other my my third favorite is uh the last one.
- 45:29SPEAKER_09: Um All in good time in good time.
- 45:31SPEAKER_00: Alright, let's do that.
- 45:37SPEAKER_09: I thought it was gonna be a slow one when I first heard it, and I was like, oh, he's gonna slow everything because every song is like up tempo in this.
- 45:43SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 45:43SPEAKER_09: So I'm like, oh, this one's gonna be a slow one.
- 45:48SPEAKER_00: It's kind of mid-tempo, though.
- 45:52SPEAKER_00: Very pop.
- 45:53SPEAKER_07: Oh, very, very but again, very Foo Fighters.
- 46:02SPEAKER_07: What a great voice.
- 46:19SPEAKER_07: This might be my favorite so far.
- 46:56SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I think that's probably my favorite so far.
- 46:58SPEAKER_07: The one of the ones that I've heard anyway.
- 47:00SPEAKER_09: The whole album is every song is great.
- 47:03SPEAKER_09: There's no there's no song on there.
- 47:07SPEAKER_09: I've heard it three times today.
- 47:08SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 47:08SPEAKER_09: The whole album, the whole album.
- 47:10SPEAKER_00: Wow.
- 47:10SPEAKER_09: And I don't skip any of the songs because they're all great.
- 47:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 47:13SPEAKER_09: And it's very it's very rare to get an album like that nowadays.
- 47:19SPEAKER_09: Sure.
- 47:19SPEAKER_09: You know what I mean?
- 47:20SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 47:21SPEAKER_09: So I was the whole time I was thinking.
- 47:25SPEAKER_09: Because I was listening it on the way to work and all the way back to work.
- 47:28SPEAKER_09: I was like, the king is dead, long live the king.
- 47:33SPEAKER_07: Yeah, that's a good way to put it.
- 47:34SPEAKER_07: You know what I mean?
- 47:35SPEAKER_07: Because he's he's he's not like nobody will replace Eddie Van Halen.
- 47:40SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 47:40SPEAKER_07: Uh but Eddie Van Halen before he died was so stoked about Wolfie's music.
- 47:46SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 47:47SPEAKER_07: You know, he's like, where do you hear it?
- 47:48SPEAKER_07: Where do you hear it?
- 47:49SPEAKER_07: Where do you hear it?
- 47:50SPEAKER_07: And then the first album came out, I was like, holy crap.
- 47:52SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 47:52SPEAKER_07: And then the second album is like, whoa.
- 47:55SPEAKER_09: I mean, for a for a guy, a new a new artist, quote unquote.
- 47:59SPEAKER_09: Yeah, usually you get like a sophomore slump.
- 48:03SPEAKER_09: Like that first album comes out and everybody's like, ah, yeah, this is great.
- 48:06SPEAKER_09: And then the second album comes out, and you're like, uh that wasn't as good as the first.
- 48:10SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 48:11SPEAKER_09: But with Wolf, it's been a great album, then another great album, and now another great album.
- 48:19SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 48:20SPEAKER_09: You know, I mean, it's just all three of those mammoth albums are fantastic.
- 48:25SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 48:25SPEAKER_09: So I mean, the guy is I mean prolific for one.
- 48:28SPEAKER_09: Really?
- 48:29SPEAKER_09: Yeah, absolutely.
- 48:30SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 48:30SPEAKER_09: I mean, yeah, I mean, it's very Foo Fighter-ish, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
- 48:35SPEAKER_07: Not a bad thing at all.
- 48:36SPEAKER_07: No.
- 48:36SPEAKER_09: No, because I love Foo Fighters too.
- 48:38SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 48:38SPEAKER_09: So, I mean, it's just it's it's a win-win.
- 48:40SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 48:41SPEAKER_09: And he's got such a great voice.
- 48:42SPEAKER_09: I love his voice.
- 48:43SPEAKER_07: I do too.
- 48:44SPEAKER_07: Um and and but I mean, he can play, you know, and the fact that he's playing everything.
- 48:49SPEAKER_07: Every single instrument.
- 48:50SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 48:50SPEAKER_07: Doing all the background vocals.
- 48:52SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 48:52SPEAKER_07: You know, all himself.
- 48:53SPEAKER_07: Uh, that's a true solo project.
- 48:56SPEAKER_07: I mean, that's that's like prince level.
- 48:57SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 48:58SPEAKER_09: You know, that's God tier gamer, pro-gamer.
- 49:02SPEAKER_09: Yeah, you know, whatever.
- 49:03SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 49:04SPEAKER_07: You know, even his dad didn't do that.
- 49:06SPEAKER_09: No.
- 49:06SPEAKER_09: Right?
- 49:07SPEAKER_09: Well, I mean, we all we all know Van Halen 3.
- 49:11SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 49:12SPEAKER_09: That's all I'm gonna say.
- 49:14SPEAKER_09: What was that song?
- 49:15SPEAKER_07: Uh How Many Say I.
- 49:17SPEAKER_07: I know how many say I.
- 49:18SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:18SPEAKER_07: Um compare that.
- 49:20SPEAKER_07: The funny thing is, is you know, yeah, Eddie Van Halen paired with Mike Anthony, uh, he did great background vocals.
- 49:29SPEAKER_07: Oh, background vocals, yes.
- 49:31SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 49:31SPEAKER_07: Fantastic, but yeah.
- 49:34SPEAKER_07: Yeah, lead was yeah, although I th I think I read somewhere that he was a lead singer in one of his earliest bands.
- 49:39SPEAKER_07: Yeah, I think so too.
- 49:40SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 49:40SPEAKER_07: Because nobody else would do it.
- 49:42SPEAKER_07: So something like that.
- 49:43SPEAKER_01: You know Alex hanging it.
- 49:44SPEAKER_01: Oh, look at that.
- 49:44SPEAKER_01: What just popped up?
- 49:46SPEAKER_13: Seems easy enough for me.
- 49:48SPEAKER_07: Hey, I know that guy.
- 49:50SPEAKER_07: That just that just uh went to the next song, and apparently it's come it's coming crossing.
- 49:54SPEAKER_07: Is this in the hotel room?
- 49:56SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 50:01SPEAKER_07: And we had just written it, written this that that night, right?
- 50:05SPEAKER_09: Well, that day, yeah, yeah.
- 50:07SPEAKER_09: We we got that hotel room.
- 50:08SPEAKER_09: We just sat and wrote songs.
- 50:09SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 50:13SPEAKER_06: Now I'm running away.
- 50:22SPEAKER_07: I haven't heard this in a long time.
- 50:24SPEAKER_07: I haven't either.
- 50:26SPEAKER_07: And this is this is the one where we're just playing it through, right?
- 50:31SPEAKER_07: We had it written it.
- 50:32SPEAKER_07: And and we're just playing it through in the hotel room.
- 50:34SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 50:35SPEAKER_07: That we rented or or or paid for just to write.
- 50:39SPEAKER_09: Yeah, basically just to hang out in, yeah.
- 50:41SPEAKER_07: Yeah, and I know Josh was there.
- 50:44SPEAKER_07: Yeah, all four of us were there.
- 50:46SPEAKER_07: But what I'm saying is w when it came to the guitar solo, he just went off.
- 50:51SPEAKER_07: Just went off.
- 50:52SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 50:54SPEAKER_07: Obviously, this is just a just a recording.
- 50:57SPEAKER_07: It's not a demo or or anything.
- 51:00SPEAKER_07: This is just us in a hotel room.
- 51:06SPEAKER_07: Um, Josh is on is uh on a record.
- 51:10SPEAKER_07: He's been on he's on a couple of records.
- 51:11SPEAKER_07: Oh real?
- 51:12SPEAKER_07: Now, yeah, he's a session player.
- 51:13SPEAKER_08: Oh look!
- 51:14SPEAKER_07: I'm running away playing slide.
- 51:18SPEAKER_07: Really?
- 51:18SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 51:19SPEAKER_07: What the fuck?
- 51:21SPEAKER_07: I'll see if I can find it here in a second.
- 51:27SPEAKER_07: I just want to hit hear his guitar.
- 51:43SPEAKER_07: Here we go.
- 51:53SPEAKER_07: That puts a smile on my face.
- 51:54SPEAKER_07: I love it.
- 51:55SPEAKER_07: Just to see where he is now, you know.
- 51:56SPEAKER_07: I know.
- 51:57SPEAKER_07: Amazing.
- 51:58SPEAKER_07: We gotta do this album.
- 52:01SPEAKER_07: I don't know if we ever will, but it'll always be the dream.
- 52:06SPEAKER_07: Always, always, always.
- 52:07SPEAKER_07: Yeah, he's uh where did I see it?
- 52:10SPEAKER_07: Did I see it on Instagram?
- 52:12SPEAKER_07: I think um it might have been on his stories or something.
- 52:15SPEAKER_07: But there was a an artist at fr out of Nashville um that he uh he shared her music.
- 52:24SPEAKER_07: Um let me just see if it's on here.
- 52:34SPEAKER_07: He shared her music and and he was uh was in the credits and he played uh he played guitar and I was like, I think he has.
- 53:26SPEAKER_09: No, that was that's for uh No, that's for Walters.
- 53:29SPEAKER_09: Oh, is it?
- 53:32SPEAKER_09: No, we have the the Van Halen song for Mix Ham.
- 53:35SPEAKER_09: Oh, that's right.
- 53:36SPEAKER_09: I was like, what are you doing?
- 53:38SPEAKER_09: Are we is is the podcast over?
- 53:41SPEAKER_09: Camera Doug, why didn't you say something?
- 53:45SPEAKER_01: Jerk?
- 53:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't know what I'm doing.
- 53:49SPEAKER_07: I blame Camer Doug.
- 53:51SPEAKER_07: You're jerk, Camera Doug! Did you see that Jeff said that we gotta come up with a new name for Camera Doug?
- 53:57SPEAKER_07: Did you see that?
- 53:57SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 53:58SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 53:58SPEAKER_09: No, on the on the text right?
- 54:00SPEAKER_09: Yeah, the text red.
- 54:01SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 54:01SPEAKER_07: Uh all right, so let's do this then.
- 54:03SPEAKER_09: There it is!
- 54:05SPEAKER_10: Yeah, big take.
- 54:09SPEAKER_09: I can't wait till we get the judge to introduce this.
- 54:12SPEAKER_09: I know.
- 54:12SPEAKER_07: What's the what's the hold up there?
- 54:13SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 54:14SPEAKER_09: I don't I don't I haven't really pressed her either, so.
- 54:17SPEAKER_07: Press her.
- 54:18SPEAKER_09: Well, no, I not there.
- 54:22SPEAKER_09: But that feels good.
- 54:24SPEAKER_09: Uh okay.
- 54:27SPEAKER_09: Well, I I I just messaged her a little while ago when we were listening.
- 54:30SPEAKER_00: Is that why you were smiling?
- 54:31SPEAKER_09: Yeah, because I totally forgot that she had nothing to judge this week because we had screwed up the week before.
- 54:37SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
- 54:37SPEAKER_09: Because I was like, and then I was like, oh yeah, we're idiots.
- 54:40SPEAKER_09: So yeah.
- 54:42SPEAKER_09: So it's just us answering the question, which was what song would you flash mob to as a way to impress a first eight?
- 54:55SPEAKER_07: Okay.
- 54:56SPEAKER_07: So do you have an answer from cousin Larry?
- 54:58SPEAKER_09: I do.
- 54:58SPEAKER_07: Alright.
- 54:59SPEAKER_09: I do, I do.
- 55:00SPEAKER_09: He sent it yesterday.
- 55:01SPEAKER_09: So cool.
- 55:01SPEAKER_09: He was way ahead of the game.
- 55:04SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 55:05SPEAKER_09: Mixtape.
- 55:06SPEAKER_09: Well, it's said that there are dancers and there are those who dance.
- 55:10SPEAKER_09: I am neither.
- 55:11SPEAKER_09: The closest I have come to being in a flash mob is going to Walmart on Black Friday.
- 55:17SPEAKER_09: But if I am looking to impress a date, I'm sure Uptown Funk or the Harlem Shake would work, but since Halloween is this week, I will go with Thriller.
- 55:27SPEAKER_09: That is some pretty great choreography, and I get to dress up like a zombie.
- 55:32SPEAKER_09: Honorable mention to the electric slide, and I know it's kind of a line dance, but it was always fun to do at weddings.
- 55:38SPEAKER_07: So there we go.
- 55:40SPEAKER_07: So he's so he's saying thriller.
- 55:42SPEAKER_07: Thriller, yes.
- 55:43SPEAKER_07: Alright.
- 55:44SPEAKER_09: Which I totally get.
- 55:45SPEAKER_07: Oh, yeah, me too.
- 55:46SPEAKER_07: Let's uh do this here.
- 55:49SPEAKER_09: Ah, yes.
- 55:50SPEAKER_09: The creepy speaking of Halloween.
- 55:52SPEAKER_09: Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
- 55:53SPEAKER_09: We never even mentioned this.
- 55:55SPEAKER_09: Well, I mean, the the movie itself.
- 55:57SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 55:58SPEAKER_09: Or the video.
- 55:59SPEAKER_07: It was a movie.
- 56:00SPEAKER_09: Basically, yeah.
- 56:03SPEAKER_07: Yeah, this would be this is the quintessential flash mob.
- 56:06SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 56:07SPEAKER_07: Right?
- 56:07SPEAKER_09: This was this was a flash mob before there were flash mobs.
- 56:10SPEAKER_07: I remember uh, yeah, what was it?
- 56:12SPEAKER_07: Uh um uh going on uh night uh 13 going on 30.
- 56:17SPEAKER_07: Do you remember that movie?
- 56:19SPEAKER_07: I remember the movie I never saw.
- 56:20SPEAKER_07: Jennifer Garner.
- 56:21SPEAKER_07: Jennifer Garner.
- 56:22SPEAKER_07: They they were at this function and they all started doing the thriller dance.
- 56:25SPEAKER_07: It was kind of cool.
- 56:31SPEAKER_09: I was what what was I watching?
- 56:33SPEAKER_09: Oh, the that show in the middle?
- 56:35SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 56:35SPEAKER_09: Did you ever see that?
- 56:36SPEAKER_09: Yeah, yeah.
- 56:37SPEAKER_09: Well, the daughter, she got she entered a square dancing con contest with a friend of hers.
- 56:44SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 56:46SPEAKER_09: And he freezes, so she just starts making up dances, and the thriller was one of them in the middle of a square dance.
- 56:53SPEAKER_09: I was laughing so hard.
- 56:58SPEAKER_07: Uh, what's what's uh what's yours?
- 57:01SPEAKER_09: Well, I was like, I have no idea what song I would play to impress a date.
- 57:07SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 57:07SPEAKER_09: But I you know what would be fun one is that one from Greece, the summer loving one.
- 57:13SPEAKER_09: You know, with the with uh John Travolta and Olivia Newton John.
- 57:17SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 57:17SPEAKER_09: The summer loving.
- 57:19SPEAKER_09: I think that would be fun.
- 57:20SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 57:21SPEAKER_07: I don't disagree with that.
- 57:23SPEAKER_06: I don't care.
- 57:26SPEAKER_07: That's one.
- 57:26SPEAKER_06: Summer lovin' had me a blast.
- 57:30SPEAKER_06: Summer lovin' happened so fast.
- 57:34SPEAKER_06: I'll met a girl crazier for me.
- 57:41SPEAKER_06: Some of the day.
- 57:47SPEAKER_06: Oh walla walla walla Toby Bon, tell me boy, get dairy bomb.
- 57:56SPEAKER_06: Oh boom, ah, boom boom boom boom boom I think I think this is a great flash mob song.
- 58:03SPEAKER_01: Obviously, we're both singing.
- 58:06SPEAKER_09: You remember when they used to do it at the at the s the high school.
- 58:09SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 58:09SPEAKER_09: They used to do it like every other year.
- 58:11SPEAKER_09: Yeah.
- 58:11SPEAKER_09: It seemed like and I kind of miss it because I I like it's one of my favorite musicals.
- 58:17SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 58:18SPEAKER_09: And the kids always do a pretty good job of it.
- 58:20SPEAKER_07: You know, I'm not a fan of musicals, but I love this one.
- 58:23SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 58:25SPEAKER_09: The music, the music kicks, but you know.
- 58:28SPEAKER_07: Yeah.
- 58:29SPEAKER_07: I just pushed the mark button.
- 58:32SPEAKER_07: I'm not sure what that did.
- 58:34SPEAKER_09: Is Mark here?
- 58:35SPEAKER_09: No.
- 58:36SPEAKER_09: Did he show Mark?
- 58:38SPEAKER_09: Whenever we need Mark Shaw, we hit the mark button.
- 58:42SPEAKER_09: He just appears.
- 58:43SPEAKER_09: Hey guys.
- 58:46SPEAKER_07: Alright, so.
- 58:49SPEAKER_01: What?
- 58:49SPEAKER_01: Can we have that?
- 58:50SPEAKER_09: Mark Shaw button.
- 58:53SPEAKER_09: Summon Mark! Oh yes!
- 58:57SPEAKER_07: This is my flash mark.
- 58:58SPEAKER_09: Oh, that's perfect, man.
- 58:59SPEAKER_09: I wish I thought of this.
- 59:01SPEAKER_07: Especially the the heavy banging your head part.
- 59:05SPEAKER_07: Oh that part is clo from Wien's World.
- 59:08SPEAKER_07: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 59:09SPEAKER_09: Yeah, absolutely, man.
- 59:10SPEAKER_09: I mean you can't go wrong.
- 59:17SPEAKER_06: Yeah, because I'm just a poor ball having no sympathy.
- 59:33SPEAKER_06: Anywhere the wind blows, nothing really matter to me to me.
- 59:45SPEAKER_07: And this flash mob would mob would uh last a long time, didn't it?
- 59:49SPEAKER_09: Heck yeah, man, because it's like an eight-minute song.
- 59:52SPEAKER_07: I think it's five.
- 59:53SPEAKER_07: Is it?
- 59:54SPEAKER_07: Six, sorry.
- 59:55SPEAKER_09: Six, okay, yes.
- 59:58SPEAKER_01: But I mean, you can't go wrong with all the I mean, this this is a murder flash mob.

- 1:00:17SPEAKER_12: Mama!
- 1:00:18SPEAKER_07: Uh but there is the most probably a ton of flash mobs with this.
- 1:00:26SPEAKER_07: This is in Paris.
- 1:00:28SPEAKER_11: Is this just fantasy?
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_11: I'm sliding, escape from reality.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_11: Open your eyes, look up to the sky.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_07: Yeah, so there there is a f it is a flash mode.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_07: But this is the question is to impress a your date, right?
- 1:00:50SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 1:00:51SPEAKER_09: Uh a song about shooting a guy in the head.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_09: Well, yeah.
- 1:00:55SPEAKER_09: Well, I mean that in the Marines that would work.
- 1:00:58SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_09: Because that's just how we get down.
- 1:01:04SPEAKER_09: You know.
- 1:01:06SPEAKER_09: You know, you meet a girl, you take her out, shoot a guy in the head, take over a country, set up a puppet government.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_09: Hey! Then get her a kitten.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_01: Then get her a kitten.
- 1:01:18SPEAKER_07: And a cup of coffee and a Halloween theme.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_07: Halloween theme.
- 1:01:21SPEAKER_07: Halloween theme.
- 1:01:24SPEAKER_07: Alright.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_07: So there we go.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_07: They we have uh uh what was Larry's again?
- 1:01:29SPEAKER_07: Thriller.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_07: Thriller, that's right.
- 1:01:31SPEAKER_07: Thriller, which uh which probably is the one that I don't know if I had to lean towards the.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_09: I don't know.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_09: I'm I'm I'm torn between that one and yours.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_07: I think those are both.
- 1:01:40SPEAKER_07: This happens a lot when cousin Larry picks a piece of a cousin Larry's the man, so I mean speaking of cousin Larry, he's winning he's he's in first place.

- 1:02:02SPEAKER_07: Well, he went inactive.

- 1:02:21SPEAKER_07: You left him in your life.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_07: I left him in because, you know, nine times out of ten, if they're questionable, they're still gonna play.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_07: Right.
- 1:02:26SPEAKER_07: And they're still gonna do okay.
- 1:02:28SPEAKER_07: Um, but are you sure it was AJ that was in action?
- 1:02:30SPEAKER_07: I'm almost positive it was.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_07: Let me see here.

- 1:04:16SPEAKER_09: And she comes back and says, uh, there's no verdict, moron.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_09: She did not say that.
- 1:04:21SPEAKER_09: Okay.

- 1:05:35SPEAKER_09: I think I think we should do uh cut from the thriller video.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_09: Like from the smoke, you know, the beginning with all that spoken word stuff.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_09: We should do something from that if there's anything.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_09: I think that would be fun! Alright, are you gonna read from the Beatles book?

- 1:08:40SPEAKER_07: Anything else that's kind of spooky?
- 1:08:45SPEAKER_07: I don't see any spooky names.
- 1:08:47SPEAKER_09: How can you get better than electric red couch?
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_07: Titanic waves.
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_09: That'd be interesting.
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_07: If you just play minor chords, it's gonna say it works.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_09: Yeah, it would it would pass.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_09: I don't know what's titanic about it.

- 1:09:19SPEAKER_07: I don't either.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_07: Start starts with voice pad.
- 1:09:22SPEAKER_09: Ooh.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_09: Ooh, that's kind of spooky.
- 1:09:29SPEAKER_09: All of a sudden, Dracula comes up.
- 1:09:35SPEAKER_09: That's actually pretty good.
- 1:09:36SPEAKER_09: It does sound spooky.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_09: Yeah.

- 1:09:42SPEAKER_09: Like he's, you know, he's playing that big pipe organ thingy in his dungeon.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_07: Ooh.

- 1:09:56SPEAKER_07: Uh it's time to climb the wall of tunes.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_07: Let's start the music.
- 1:10:00SPEAKER_07: See.
- 1:10:01SPEAKER_07: There we go.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_01: And Doug is going to read from the Beatles Book.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 1:10:06SPEAKER_09: We're going to read about Ticket to Ride.
- 1:10:08SPEAKER_09: Yay! Alright.
- 1:10:11SPEAKER_09: Ticket to Ride was written by John and Paul as a single and described by John as, quote, one of the earliest heavy metal records made.
- 1:10:18SPEAKER_09: Unquote.
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_09: I don't really get that.
- 1:10:22SPEAKER_09: Although they were pipped at the post.
- 1:10:25SPEAKER_09: I have no that must be a British thing.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_01: Pipped at the post.
- 1:10:27SPEAKER_09: I was pipped at the post in the heavy metal stakes by the Kinks, You Really Got Me, which charted in Britain the previous summer.
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_09: This was the first Beatles track to feature an insistent clanking riff underpined by a heavy hubby.
- 1:10:43SPEAKER_09: Heavy drumbeat, and it used a fade out with an altered melody.
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_09: Paul confessed to his biographer Barry Miles that the apparently loopy suggestion made by some American fans at the time that the song was referring to a British Railways ticket to the town of Ride on the Isle of Wight was partly right.
- 1:11:07SPEAKER_09: Paul's cousin Betty Robbins and her husband Mike ran the bow bars in Union Street Ride, and Paul and John had visited them there.
- 1:11:17SPEAKER_09: Although the song was primarily about a girl writing out of the life of the narrator, they were conscious of the potential for a double meaning.
- 1:11:25SPEAKER_09: Don Short, a show business journalist who traveled extensively with the Beatles in the 60s, was told by John that the phrase had yet another meaning.
- 1:11:34SPEAKER_09: Quote, the girls who worked the streets in Hamburg had to have a clean bill of health, and so the medical authorities would give them a card saying that they didn't have a dose of anything, unquote, says Short.
- 1:11:47SPEAKER_09: Quote, I was with the Beatles when they went back to Hamburg in June 1966, and it was then that John told me that he had coined the phrase, a ticket to ride, to describe these cards.
- 1:11:58SPEAKER_09: He could have been joking.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_01: I thought that was gonna be the Maybe no cat.
- 1:12:48SPEAKER_07: I thought so too.
- 1:12:50SPEAKER_07: Uh we were a little early for that one.
- 1:12:52SPEAKER_01: Just a little.
- 1:12:53SPEAKER_01: Alright, there you go.
- 1:12:54SPEAKER_01: Uh yay, Beatles.
- 1:12:56SPEAKER_01: So I have an album.
- 1:12:59SPEAKER_01: Alright.
- 1:13:00SPEAKER_07: Let the guessing begin.
- 1:13:03SPEAKER_01: Is it a band or a solo?
- 1:13:05SPEAKER_07: Solo.
- 1:13:06SPEAKER_09: Oh, a solo this week.
- 1:13:07SPEAKER_09: Rockeye?
- 1:13:08SPEAKER_09: Or rock early?
- 1:13:10SPEAKER_07: A guy?
- 1:13:11SPEAKER_07: Uh yeah.
- 1:13:12SPEAKER_07: Rockeye.
- 1:13:14SPEAKER_07: Soulful Rockey.
- 1:13:15SPEAKER_09: Soulful Rockey.
- 1:15:33SPEAKER_07: If he doesn't play in the playoffs, uh famous comedian comedic actor who has done a fine impression of him.
- 1:15:45SPEAKER_09: John Belushi.
- 1:15:47SPEAKER_07: Yes.
- 1:15:48SPEAKER_07: That's the actor.
- 1:15:50SPEAKER_09: Oh, so it's gotta be uh uh Jesus.
- 1:15:55SPEAKER_09: Joe Cocker Yes.
- 1:16:00SPEAKER_09: It is one of John Belushi's better nations.
- 1:16:04SPEAKER_07: Um I don't know if we've done I think we might have done Joe Carker.
- 1:16:07SPEAKER_09: I don't think we've ever done Joe Carker.
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_07: Really?
- 1:16:09SPEAKER_07: To be honest with you.
- 1:16:10SPEAKER_07: I thought we did.
- 1:16:11SPEAKER_07: Let me check.
- 1:16:11SPEAKER_07: I thought we did like one of his greatest hits.
- 1:16:13SPEAKER_09: Let me check the list.
- 1:16:14SPEAKER_07: But maybe not.
- 1:16:15SPEAKER_09: I don't think we have, to be honest with you.
- 1:16:17SPEAKER_07: This is though, the album I happen to pick is called Him for My Soul.
- 1:16:23SPEAKER_07: Um, so it's not uh it's not a greatest hits package.
- 1:16:29SPEAKER_07: I have a couple of best of Joe Cockers because I love Joe Cocker.
- 1:16:33SPEAKER_07: Um and yeah, he did cover Hyatt's Have a Little Faith in Me.
- 1:16:37SPEAKER_09: He did?
- 1:16:38SPEAKER_07: Yeah, oh yeah, great version of it too.
- 1:16:39SPEAKER_07: I don't remember that.
- 1:16:41SPEAKER_07: Great version.
- 1:16:43SPEAKER_07: Uh and on this particular album, Hym for My Soul.
- 1:16:46SPEAKER_07: I'll play the title cut first.
- 1:16:49SPEAKER_07: Um but on this particular album, he has a couple of cover songs.
- 1:16:56SPEAKER_07: Actually, I think three cover songs.
- 1:16:59SPEAKER_07: Um this is the title cut.
- 1:17:03SPEAKER_07: This is Hymn for My Soul.
- 1:17:10SPEAKER_09: We have never judged Joe Cocker.
- 1:17:12SPEAKER_09: Really?
- 1:17:12SPEAKER_09: Yep.
- 1:17:13SPEAKER_03: First time smiling looked you away, setting by my visible light, sorrow coming like a night.
- 1:17:20SPEAKER_03: Nobody knows you without any dye.
- 1:17:24SPEAKER_03: Nobody wants to know you when you die.
- 1:17:39SPEAKER_03: I'm just trying to come on my hill instead of showing a hymn from my soul.
- 1:17:51SPEAKER_07: I mean, come on, right?
- 1:17:54SPEAKER_07: But uh song that I'm so glad that he well here's a here's a his cover of uh um Stevie Wonder.

- 1:19:03SPEAKER_07: Um there's a couple, like I said, a couple of covers.
- 1:19:06SPEAKER_07: This one uh it just seems perfect for Joe Cocker.
- 1:19:10SPEAKER_07: It's a CCR classic.
- 1:19:31SPEAKER_03: Though I'm going, I'm going I'll be coming home soon as I can see the light.
- 1:20:01SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 1:20:08SPEAKER_07: So the only other cover that's on this album is a bonus track from the soundtrack to across the universe.
- 1:20:37SPEAKER_13: I was gonna say, it's gotta be come together.
- 1:20:52SPEAKER_13: Got to be joker, please.
- 1:20:58SPEAKER_07: Um, I said this was the only other cover, but I think I'm wrong.

- 1:21:06SPEAKER_07: I have no idea.
- 1:21:07SPEAKER_07: Hold on, I will tell you about that.
- 1:21:10SPEAKER_07: Uh Stevie Wonder.
- 1:21:18SPEAKER_07: Well, beware of darkness.
- 1:21:21SPEAKER_07: That's uh George Harrison.
- 1:21:23SPEAKER_07: Uh is that from his uh Is that from uh All Things Must Pass?
