Smoke from raging wildfires in Minnesota and Canada is blanketing the region, forcing closures in the Boundary Waters and triggering a statewide air quality alert. With 15 fires burning in the Superior National Forest — four inside the protected wilderness — the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency has declared hazardous “maroon” air quality across much of the state, including the Twin Cities.
