- 0:07Speaker 2: The world's a biget. Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. Everything right
- 0:18Speaker 2: now the Patriots are doing is under a microscope. This
- 0:21Speaker 2: big news that's coming out. And you know the Patriots
- 0:24Speaker 2: are interested in a quarterback.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Oh really, I think you could talk to Robert for
- 0:28Speaker 3: me and say, listen, Paul's having a tough time.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Can you get him a bonus? I need some cash.
- 0:32Speaker 4: I need some cash flow.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Jewels.
- 0:34Speaker 4: You've been working here for twenty manues.
- 0:35Speaker 3: You gonna catch you.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Before the show, I was watching that Get It Up
- 0:40Speaker 2: show on ESPN with the Greenberg and I was a
- 0:43Speaker 2: Jerry Seinfel fan before he was Jerry Sielone.
- 0:46Speaker 4: You invented it, that's right.
- 0:47Speaker 3: Yeah, Caleb Williams is not the consensus number one overall
- 0:50Speaker 3: picking on everyone's board.
- 0:51Speaker 2: But I think it is kind of a story because.
- 0:54Speaker 4: I'm not surprised by how he was. I don't think so.
- 0:57Speaker 3: Oh yes, I don't think so God, yes, Paul, I
- 1:00Speaker 3: should say or she, because I don't remember where we
- 1:02Speaker 3: had the report originally.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Sure, this wasn't one of your straw people. I love Macao's.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Oh so we got EVID induced You like the show?
- 1:13Speaker 5: I'm such a This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's
- 1:18Speaker 5: official website.
- 1:19Speaker 1: For deals, buy a Toyota dot com.
- 1:23Speaker 2: All right, welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:28Speaker 2: at Jillette Stadium. Induce what do you what is this?
- 1:30Speaker 6: We got a new monitor?
- 1:31Speaker 3: This I'm used to like.
- 1:32Speaker 4: We come back and everything's different.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Well, the old monitor just died, so we had to
- 1:36Speaker 2: replace it with another monitor.
- 1:38Speaker 6: It's got a it's got a booster on it.
- 1:39Speaker 2: And didn't die.
- 1:41Speaker 7: Or did you and Paul break it while we were gone?
- 1:43Speaker 4: Well could have been, but that was here when I
- 1:46Speaker 4: got back.
- 1:47Speaker 6: Who was sitting in my seat while I was gone?
- 1:49Speaker 8: Young man?
- 1:50Speaker 4: That would be me? So why is the show grinding
- 1:52Speaker 4: to a halt? Well it all started off from Tuesday.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Friend goes, it's a lot of stuff going on in
- 2:02Speaker 3: Indian and I go, if you say so.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Oh, come on, that was Tuesday. I think I think
- 2:09Speaker 2: it was one of the better combines.
- 2:11Speaker 4: Yeah, Mike, got that picture you want to show?
- 2:13Speaker 8: Friend?
- 2:13Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 2:13Speaker 4: I agree. You know, it's like seventeen people at the
- 2:16Speaker 4: Patron's table.
- 2:17Speaker 3: All the other tu Yeah, that was bad.
- 2:21Speaker 2: But so that's what we're going to talk about mostly
- 2:24Speaker 2: is Deuce and Evan and have returned from the Combine
- 2:29Speaker 2: and to get their reports from being there, you know,
- 2:35Speaker 2: because watch it on TV all you want and read
- 2:38Speaker 2: all the stuff, but it's different when you're there.
- 2:40Speaker 6: Yeah. Yeah, Well it started off a lot different. Just
- 2:42Speaker 6: you know, getting to talk to Elliot Wolf that was
- 2:44Speaker 6: you know, pretty cool. That's I mean, we've been going
- 2:46Speaker 6: to that's my i think my fourth combine, so you know,
- 2:49Speaker 6: just to get to finally chat with him a little bit,
- 2:51Speaker 6: never really had officially met him, so and then we
- 2:53Speaker 6: next day had Girard as well, so it's just you know,
- 2:56Speaker 6: good to to. I mean, we kind of joked that
- 2:58Speaker 6: when we used to go to the Combine, we spent
- 2:59Speaker 6: so much time. If if somebody like farted and it
- 3:01Speaker 6: smelled like Patriots, like, well we got to write about
- 3:03Speaker 6: it because that was you know all we could kind
- 3:05Speaker 6: of do.
- 3:05Speaker 8: Uh.
- 3:07Speaker 6: But you know, now we had actual you know, some
- 3:09Speaker 6: actual patriots people speaking, so lots of good stuff to
- 3:12Speaker 6: go off with. And I felt like that started us
- 3:14Speaker 6: off pretty good. And then it was you know just
- 3:15Speaker 6: another circus of of of people, you know, interviews, and
- 3:19Speaker 6: you're waiting and guys are coming and going, and but
- 3:22Speaker 6: it's always good just to get us get to see
- 3:24Speaker 6: these guys and get to hear them in person. And
- 3:26Speaker 6: you know, now when people call and ask us some
- 3:28Speaker 6: we have to talk about for the next two months,
- 3:30Speaker 6: we have a little bit of background or reach.
- 3:31Speaker 10: This was the most tiring combine of my five combines,
- 3:35Speaker 10: I would say, because normally with the Patriots, it's why
- 3:40Speaker 10: even bother trying to talk to somebody from New England,
- 3:44Speaker 10: because they're you're not going to get any you know,
- 3:45Speaker 10: anything out of them, or you're not going to see him.
- 3:48Speaker 10: This combine, it was totally different. H you know, just
- 3:52Speaker 10: kind of laid out the press conference side of it,
- 3:55Speaker 10: but just people walking around town and stuff like that
- 3:58Speaker 10: that worked for the Patriots that I don't think would
- 4:00Speaker 10: have been happening a year ago, two years ago.
- 4:03Speaker 4: So much different, much different.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Feel yep, and what do you think about that? Feel
- 4:09Speaker 2: like elaborate a little bit.
- 4:11Speaker 7: It's definitely refreshing. I was just telling them this morning,
- 4:14Speaker 7: I was like to see a VP, like you said,
- 4:16Speaker 7: walking around and just have the not the confidence but
- 4:20Speaker 7: like the reassurance I can go up to this man
- 4:21Speaker 7: and say hello and like he's going to be great,
- 4:24Speaker 7: and like talk back was nice because you know, I
- 4:27Speaker 7: really would have never walked up to someone. I probably
- 4:28Speaker 7: would have just like acted like I didn't see them
- 4:30Speaker 7: and kept going, you know, So it.
- 4:31Speaker 6: Was just nice to see they would have done the same.
- 4:33Speaker 7: Yes, certain staff members have them like say hello, be
- 4:36Speaker 7: very welcoming.
- 4:37Speaker 3: It was just very refreshing, and.
- 4:39Speaker 2: I think it's also exciting because you know, for the
- 4:41Speaker 2: first time in a long time, we're in the game,
- 4:45Speaker 2: you know, like one of the top picks, we're in
- 4:47Speaker 2: the game here.
- 4:48Speaker 6: That's why it felt like kind of a build up
- 4:50Speaker 6: to Friday, you know, getting to the quarterbacks and the
- 4:52Speaker 6: receivers and the running backs go you know, when they
- 4:53Speaker 6: got to speak on Friday and then working out on
- 4:56Speaker 6: Saturday that you know, it's I mean, no offense. I
- 4:58Speaker 6: do like the defense, but just those early days of
- 5:01Speaker 6: cornerbacks and d line and linebackers, it's you know, you
- 5:03Speaker 6: wanted to see Drake May, you wanted to see you know,
- 5:06Speaker 6: Caleb Williams. You want to see Jade and Daniels. You
- 5:07Speaker 6: wanted to see Marvin Harrison. He didn't show up.
- 5:09Speaker 4: They didn't see him.
- 5:11Speaker 10: But yeah, the d line and linebacker day was rough.
- 5:13Speaker 10: I was let's just let's just go get to the
- 5:16Speaker 10: next day here, and then tight Ends went with some
- 5:18Speaker 10: of the dbs, so that was good. But yeah, I
- 5:21Speaker 10: think it's good that it's good that we're more informed.
- 5:26Speaker 10: I guess about some of the things that are going on,
- 5:28Speaker 10: but I would just be very wary and you know,
- 5:31Speaker 10: cautionary about thinking that we have any clue of what's
- 5:34Speaker 10: actually God no, because we saw a lot of reporting
- 5:38Speaker 10: come from the combine, and I'm not crapping on the
- 5:41Speaker 10: reports or the reporters that were doing the reporting, But
- 5:44Speaker 10: just because one guy told you something when you're out
- 5:47Speaker 10: and hanging out with him, doesn't mean that that's one
- 5:50Speaker 10: hundred percent by any means what's going to happen on
- 5:53Speaker 10: April twenty sixth. So I really feel like the only
- 5:57Speaker 10: two people that really have any clue of what the
- 5:59Speaker 10: Patriots want to do or Elliott Wolf and Grod Mayo,
- 6:01Speaker 10: and I think everybody else is just kind of a
- 6:03Speaker 10: lot And I.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Would be really disappointed if anyone in this room knew
- 6:06Speaker 2: what we were going to do. I'd be disappointed like
- 6:09Speaker 2: that they let us know. I don't want to know.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I don't think we should know. And you say, you know,
- 6:15Speaker 2: I'm sure they know what they want to do at
- 6:17Speaker 2: this point, or you know, or they're building towards getting
- 6:20Speaker 2: to know that. But unless you have the first pick,
- 6:23Speaker 2: you don't know.
- 6:24Speaker 4: You know, I'd be kind of disappointed if they knew
- 6:26Speaker 4: what they were going.
- 6:26Speaker 3: To do right now, right because that was just to
- 6:29Speaker 3: illustrate your point, Freddie, Yeah.
- 6:31Speaker 10: I think some of the conversations we have with Jerrod,
- 6:34Speaker 10: the Top thirty visits, I think are going to be
- 6:36Speaker 10: really big for them because that's when they get them here,
- 6:38Speaker 10: they can really go in depth. These Combine interviews are
- 6:42Speaker 10: eighteen minutes, so it's it's not really it's just getting
- 6:45Speaker 10: to know you game. It's a brief introduction to the player.
- 6:49Speaker 10: Once we get into Top thirty visits, that's when you
- 6:52Speaker 10: really get down to brass tacks about this what this
- 6:56Speaker 10: guy is all about football wise, not football wise. So
- 6:59Speaker 10: I think there's going to be a lot of stock
- 7:00Speaker 10: put into those, especially for the quarterbacks.
- 7:02Speaker 6: Well, Evan put actually i'll tee up for this one.
- 7:04Speaker 6: I mean, just talk a little bit about the kind
- 7:06Speaker 6: of just the differences between not good or bad, but
- 7:08Speaker 6: between Drake May and j Dale. It seems like those
- 7:10Speaker 6: are the two guys that everybody's locked in, everyone's got.
- 7:12Speaker 2: By the way, I've started my film stuff.
- 7:14Speaker 4: Yeah, go ahead, Oh I can't wait for that.
- 7:17Speaker 10: I just I think the biggest thing was that was
- 7:19Speaker 10: cool about both of them is that their demeanor at
- 7:23Speaker 10: the podium I feel like reflects how they play on
- 7:25Speaker 10: the field. Drake May was all energy, just jumping up
- 7:29Speaker 10: on the podium like ready to go, a ball of energy.
- 7:32Speaker 10: When you watch him play, he's got kind of that
- 7:34Speaker 10: Josh Allen, you know, can be a little bit wild,
- 7:37Speaker 10: can be a little bit of a gunslinger. And then
- 7:40Speaker 10: Jayden Daniels was more quiet, more subdued, more calm up
- 7:44Speaker 10: at the podium, and I feel like that's exactly how
- 7:47Speaker 10: he plays in the pocket, is a little bit more
- 7:49Speaker 10: of a you know, poise, I'm gonna sit here, you know,
- 7:52Speaker 10: make my reaves, make my throws. So I thought both
- 7:55Speaker 10: of them came off exactly how I expected, just based
- 7:58Speaker 10: off of watching them play football. And that's I think
- 8:02Speaker 10: kind of cool that you know, their personalities are reflective
- 8:05Speaker 10: of how they actually play the game. So I'm not
- 8:09Speaker 10: big on oh I thought this guy did well at
- 8:12Speaker 10: the podium, Like what difference does it really make? But
- 8:15Speaker 10: from everything that you hear, teams are really really impressed
- 8:18Speaker 10: with Drake May in the interviews. I think he comes
- 8:21Speaker 10: across as a franchise quarterback and someone that is an
- 8:25Speaker 10: impressive figure. He walks into a room and commands the room,
- 8:28Speaker 10: and you know, has that sort of bravado about him,
- 8:31Speaker 10: whereas Jaden Daniels might be a little bit more of
- 8:34Speaker 10: that quiet, humble type of person.
- 8:36Speaker 7: So what do y'all think of JJ McCarthy being added
- 8:39Speaker 7: into this mix of potentially being a top five quarter Yeah.
- 8:42Speaker 2: First, overall, it's interesting, you know, we kind of asked
- 8:44Speaker 2: you guys, you know, and I don't know if you
- 8:46Speaker 2: had heard the reports that we had at that point.
- 8:50Speaker 2: But now that you know, it's a few days afterwards,
- 8:53Speaker 2: are you hearing the same thing that we heard that
- 8:55Speaker 2: McCarthy is rising up and could be in the top four?
- 8:58Speaker 2: And you know a.
- 8:59Speaker 6: Little bit, I mean, I just I kind of I
- 9:01Speaker 6: guess I chalk it up a little bit too. I
- 9:02Speaker 6: think he has an element of unknown and he's played
- 9:04Speaker 6: in an offense where he hasn't really thrown it, so
- 9:06Speaker 6: people have that like they're they're projecting him positively that oh,
- 9:09Speaker 6: all right, well he wasn't asked to throw a lot,
- 9:11Speaker 6: but we actually think he can throw. We can talk
- 9:13Speaker 6: about how he did, you know, and just those and
- 9:14Speaker 6: what did.
- 9:15Speaker 2: John Harbaugh say he thinks he's the best quarterback coming out?
- 9:17Speaker 4: Yeah, Jim Harbor, Jim yeah, yeah.
- 9:20Speaker 10: I think the biggest thing with with McCarthy too, is
- 9:24Speaker 10: that the Michigan offense is not one of these gimmicky
- 9:27Speaker 10: college offenses where there's a lot of like bubble screens
- 9:31Speaker 10: and RPOs and built in yards that way. So there's
- 9:34Speaker 10: a lot of NFL style dropbacks in what he was
- 9:37Speaker 10: asked to do at Michigan. So for a lot of evaluators,
- 9:40Speaker 10: I think it's just easier to look at his tape
- 9:43Speaker 10: and say this is going to translate. That's going to translate.
- 9:47Speaker 10: And at the end of the day, it's all about,
- 9:48Speaker 10: you know, covering your own butt a little bit, and
- 9:51Speaker 10: this in that sort of thing where you don't want
- 9:53Speaker 10: to draft the guy that's the bust, and if this
- 9:55Speaker 10: guy can show that he can do some NFL stuff,
- 9:58Speaker 10: then it's easier to say that like.
- 10:00Speaker 4: Max Jones to me, that's the same thing.
- 10:02Speaker 10: I said, Yeah, I mean Max Alabama offense was a
- 10:05Speaker 10: little bit more rpo heavy than what they did at Michigan.
- 10:07Speaker 4: But yeah, well.
- 10:11Speaker 2: He's higher floor.
- 10:13Speaker 10: Well the thing is is, though, is that he That's
- 10:15Speaker 10: the thing that I can't understand is that that those
- 10:19Speaker 10: are the things that you hear right about. He's played
- 10:21Speaker 10: in this Michigan offense that is more NFL style, more
- 10:25Speaker 10: pro style offense, and he won a lot of games,
- 10:28Speaker 10: and he was clutch and all these kind of things,
- 10:31Speaker 10: and but then you watch the film and he's raw.
- 10:33Speaker 4: He's really raw.
- 10:34Speaker 10: Mechanically, He's extremely raw, and we saw it even throwing
- 10:39Speaker 10: against you know, air at the combine. He's air mill
- 10:41Speaker 10: and passes. That's what he does, you know. He he
- 10:46Speaker 10: throws the ball from his lower half like he's a
- 10:48Speaker 10: pitcher in baseball. He puts everything into it and it
- 10:51Speaker 10: often leads to overstriding and then he and then the
- 10:53Speaker 10: ball sales on him. So there's all sorts of uh,
- 10:57Speaker 10: he's a raw talent. But then you listen to people
- 11:01Speaker 10: talk about him in the league and those people are like, well,
- 11:04Speaker 10: this is you know, this quarterback is got you know,
- 11:08Speaker 10: we really like how he translates and his game translates
- 11:10Speaker 10: and all this kind of stuff, And I'm just like,
- 11:12Speaker 10: but you have so much work to do with him.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Still, it just it makes no sense.
- 11:15Speaker 2: So do you think it's warranted that he's now being
- 11:18Speaker 2: talked about first round high first round talent?
- 11:22Speaker 6: No, I mean I wouldn't. I wouldn't want the patios
- 11:24Speaker 6: to take him.
- 11:24Speaker 2: So this is just smoke, you think.
- 11:26Speaker 11: A little bit.
- 11:26Speaker 6: But I it feels like he's sur pass Penix.
- 11:29Speaker 3: Now, yeah, I don't know if it's smoked, but I
- 11:31Speaker 3: don't I don't really love the prospect. Now, I will
- 11:33Speaker 3: say he's a thousand times more talented than Mac Jones.
- 11:37Speaker 3: He's a much better athlete than Mac Jones. Yeah, he
- 11:39Speaker 3: can move.
- 11:40Speaker 4: He can make plays, as Evan likes to say, off platform.
- 11:45Speaker 3: You know, he keeps the best part of his game.
- 11:46Speaker 3: He can do things that Mac Jones doesn't have the
- 11:48Speaker 3: ability to do. I liked Mike's point the best though.
- 11:51Speaker 3: I think this is sort of a projection and somehow.
- 11:54Speaker 6: This is you know, you talk yourself into it.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Yeah, and you say, well, I've never seen him do that,
- 11:58Speaker 3: but he can do that. Whereas a lot of times
- 12:00Speaker 3: in this draft process, it's like they search for the
- 12:03Speaker 3: thing that you can't do, and they say, well, he
- 12:05Speaker 3: can't do that because we never saw him do that.
- 12:07Speaker 3: For some reason, this guy won a lot of games
- 12:09Speaker 3: by handing the ball off and relying on defense, and
- 12:12Speaker 3: everybody says, but he could be much more than that.
- 12:15Speaker 3: I think people are starting to buy it. I just
- 12:17Speaker 3: saw the scroll goal on NFL network. You know, it's
- 12:21Speaker 3: a replay of the Good Morning Football and they have
- 12:24Speaker 3: him at number nine in a trade, Chicago making a
- 12:26Speaker 3: trade and they have him going nine.
- 12:29Speaker 4: I didn't see who the team was, but.
- 12:32Speaker 3: This was a guy who was considered maybe a possible
- 12:36Speaker 3: late first round pick, probably a Day two pick two
- 12:40Speaker 3: weeks ago. Yeah, you know, so that's the comparison to
- 12:44Speaker 3: Mac Jones running the same.
- 12:46Speaker 10: Thing, whoever's running his pr It's been a minute since
- 12:50Speaker 10: I've seen a quarterback hyped up this much by.
- 12:55Speaker 6: Off of like performance.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Exactly like you guys were there. The rows were terrible,
- 13:01Speaker 3: and somehow everybody's like, he threw the ball, Well, well
- 13:04Speaker 3: you didn't have his receivers.
- 13:07Speaker 4: Yeah, nobody else did. No one else did?
- 13:10Speaker 2: I feel like if he none of them really threw
- 13:12Speaker 2: that well.
- 13:12Speaker 10: I thought Panics threw the ball really well. But he
- 13:14Speaker 10: throws the ball really well in nose settings all the time.
- 13:17Speaker 10: He's got a great arm. How about the ones in
- 13:18Speaker 10: the hall?
- 13:19Speaker 7: Yeah, McCarthy, I was gonna say, I feel like if
- 13:24Speaker 7: JJ fell in your lap and you really didn't need
- 13:27Speaker 7: a quarterback right now, like if he fell in your
- 13:29Speaker 7: lap in the second round or whatever, I would not
- 13:31Speaker 7: trade up to go get.
- 13:32Speaker 6: Yeah. I think that's that's what he should really needs. Well,
- 13:35Speaker 6: it's not an immediate need, but it's probably going to
- 13:37Speaker 6: be in need sooner than later. And you know, you
- 13:39Speaker 6: feel like you can develop them a little bit. But
- 13:41Speaker 6: you know, talking about him in the top ten that
- 13:43Speaker 6: that that seems like a real reach for me. It's
- 13:45Speaker 6: certainly off the table for me. For the Patriots.
- 13:47Speaker 2: So it sounds to me that Jayden Daniels is number
- 13:52Speaker 2: two right now? Is that the consensus?
- 13:55Speaker 10: I mean, I wouldn't say so. I would say right now,
- 13:58Speaker 10: Drake May has is pretty m much number two.
- 14:01Speaker 2: You would say May is too. Yeah, JJ McCarthy talking
- 14:03Speaker 2: about your value, No, I'm talking about.
- 14:05Speaker 10: Like, Yeah, I think I think JJ McCarthy is jumping Daniels.
- 14:09Speaker 10: If you listen to what people are saying. That's that's
- 14:11Speaker 10: what's happening right now. Yeah, I don't, I don't. I
- 14:15Speaker 10: don't buy any of this stuff. But the stuff that
- 14:18Speaker 10: Evan's talking about is Daniels is falling and McCarthy is rising,
- 14:22Speaker 10: and it's Williams. And I know you don't like to
- 14:25Speaker 10: hear this, but Williams has never moved off of one.
- 14:28Speaker 2: But I said that last No Show, Andy arguing I
- 14:32Speaker 2: don't want to get.
- 14:33Speaker 3: I'm going to.
- 14:34Speaker 6: I'm going to.
- 14:35Speaker 3: I want to give a fifteen second thing to to
- 14:38Speaker 3: the three people who weren't here. Yes, please, I think
- 14:42Speaker 3: there's a difference between the consensus number one pick and
- 14:44Speaker 3: the consensus number one on the board. Do you guys agree, Yes, sure, yeah,
- 14:50Speaker 3: I think so. Fred either didn't understand what I was
- 14:53Speaker 3: trying to say and not making fun of Fred here,
- 14:55Speaker 3: either didn't understand what I was trying to say, or
- 14:57Speaker 3: he thinks it's the same. No, no, we agree, but
- 14:59Speaker 3: that's not I think that you were He has been
- 15:02Speaker 3: the consensus number one overall pick here for a long time, right, yes, yes,
- 15:07Speaker 3: he's probably and Fred and I agree, And now he
- 15:10Speaker 3: says things are changing because there was a report last
- 15:13Speaker 3: week that said not all teams have him the consensus
- 15:15Speaker 3: number one on the board.
- 15:16Speaker 4: And I said, that's not the same thing.
- 15:18Speaker 2: No, but that and what I said and either one.
- 15:22Speaker 4: I was curious to see if you got to start
- 15:24Speaker 4: the way out.
- 15:24Speaker 2: That report didn't what they meant.
- 15:26Speaker 3: I went back and saw the report. They've said number
- 15:28Speaker 3: one on the board, some people don't have the number one.
- 15:30Speaker 2: I know they said that, but what I'm but the
- 15:33Speaker 2: news they were trying to make.
- 15:35Speaker 4: Nope, I went back and heard it all right. I
- 15:37Speaker 4: went back and listened to it.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I know, Paul I'm saying.
- 15:40Speaker 3: The point was that not everybody thinks he's the best
- 15:42Speaker 3: player in this draft. And I agree with them. I
- 15:45Speaker 3: don't think that that almost ever happens. I think short
- 15:48Speaker 3: of like Andrew Luck that year, the guy taking number
- 15:52Speaker 3: one isn't everybody's best player in the draft?
- 15:54Speaker 2: Right, And that's not news, right?
- 15:56Speaker 3: I agree, And I think that they were trying to
- 15:57Speaker 3: portray this as being news like there's this big ship.
- 16:00Speaker 3: I think it's all part of the nonsense weakness that
- 16:02Speaker 3: took place in Indiana.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Because because I think that what they were trying to
- 16:06Speaker 2: say is he may not be picked first.
- 16:08Speaker 3: That's that no one, because that would be new. No
- 16:11Speaker 3: one's come out with that, I know, but that would
- 16:13Speaker 3: be new, right, And that's not what the person was
- 16:15Speaker 3: trying to say.
- 16:16Speaker 6: Well, I mean along those lines. The interesting thing too,
- 16:18Speaker 6: I thought from Chicago was that, you know, saying that
- 16:20Speaker 6: we feel like we owe it to Justin Fields too,
- 16:22Speaker 6: you know, if we're going to make that decision to
- 16:24Speaker 6: move on him now. So you're getting a lot of
- 16:26Speaker 6: questions in the mail bag of like, you know, well,
- 16:28Speaker 6: I think the Patriots, you know, if they can't get him,
- 16:30Speaker 6: then they'll just you know, go get go, sign get
- 16:32Speaker 6: Justin Fields. Just Field's gonna be gone the next two
- 16:34Speaker 6: weeks if he's going, you know, so I think things
- 16:36Speaker 6: are going to fall into place a lot quicker, and
- 16:38Speaker 6: you're kind of going to know where the Patriots stand
- 16:40Speaker 6: going into the draft by what their free agency status is.
- 16:43Speaker 6: And it's not going to be a draft day trade.
- 16:45Speaker 2: I do want to continue on this evaluation of these quarterbacks,
- 16:49Speaker 2: but you brought it up. There was also somebody just
- 16:52Speaker 2: mentioned and I don't know what was that. You know,
- 16:54Speaker 2: don't sleep on the Patriots being interested on Baker Mayfield.
- 17:00Speaker 6: That's gotten some pushback. Yeah, that's gotten some especially with
- 17:03Speaker 6: Mike Evans going back on a two year deal, So
- 17:06Speaker 6: I think that's gotten a little bit of pushback now
- 17:07Speaker 6: that that Mayfield, I mean, it just makes too much
- 17:09Speaker 6: sense for him. He finally found a place where he
- 17:11Speaker 6: seemed to kind of click. And I don't know with
- 17:13Speaker 6: with Evan's back, I don't know. I've seen some reports.
- 17:15Speaker 6: I don't remember who it was exactly, but just saying
- 17:17Speaker 6: that it seems less likely now.
- 17:19Speaker 2: And I mean, are there is the reports that they're
- 17:21Speaker 2: talking like the tape I haven't seen.
- 17:24Speaker 6: I haven't seen that.
- 17:25Speaker 2: Bucks and Baker.
- 17:26Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, I think the report was Michael Mike Evans
- 17:30Speaker 3: re signing is almost certainly going to mean that Baker
- 17:33Speaker 3: Mayfield's going to stay there.
- 17:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:34Speaker 10: I don't think that the Daniel Jeremiah thing was anything
- 17:37Speaker 10: beyond his offensive coordinator from Cleveland and the GM that
- 17:41Speaker 10: helped draft or assistant GM at the time that helped
- 17:44Speaker 10: draft him or now in New England.
- 17:45Speaker 4: And you know that's.
- 17:46Speaker 2: A complete speculation.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it's just connecting dods and I agree with
- 17:50Speaker 3: with Evan and I think that's where it originated. But
- 17:52Speaker 3: the funny thing, the more I'm reading about it a
- 17:54Speaker 3: little bit. Is they didn't want him. It was that
- 17:57Speaker 3: was a Haslm. Picky Haslam wanted Baker Mayfield number one overall.
- 18:02Speaker 4: The brain Trust didn't.
- 18:03Speaker 2: But Dard said that last night.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Yeah, I heard that, but I've read it too, so
- 18:07Speaker 3: which I'll be nice probably where it originated on TV
- 18:13Speaker 3: last night. But I did hear the same thing that
- 18:15Speaker 3: you were talking about with Greg and Phil Perry and
- 18:18Speaker 3: Tom Curran. And I just think that it's it's easy
- 18:22Speaker 3: to connect the dots and say, well, he played for
- 18:25Speaker 3: Alex van Pelt and he must love him under Elliott
- 18:29Speaker 3: must be his guy.
- 18:31Speaker 4: Maybe maybe it didn't go all that well, maybe they
- 18:32Speaker 4: didn't like it all.
- 18:33Speaker 3: It didn't.
- 18:34Speaker 7: So one more thing on Jane Dams before we completely
- 18:37Speaker 7: go away from quarterbacks. Do you guys agree with the
- 18:40Speaker 7: reports of like there should be some concern about him
- 18:42Speaker 7: not playing in cold weather or do you think like, oh,
- 18:45Speaker 7: it's football.
- 18:47Speaker 3: Phil Perry, I think that's huge.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that was an extensive thing about him, you know,
- 18:51Speaker 2: even playing up here in Foxborough, that he's from California,
- 18:55Speaker 2: played at LSU.
- 18:57Speaker 6: You know that's I mean. And look, I think Evan
- 19:00Speaker 6: and I are kind of on the same page. We
- 19:01Speaker 6: talked about a plenty in India of like either one
- 19:03Speaker 6: it's fine, Drake May or or him, But I think
- 19:07Speaker 6: it's really Drake May is probably a little bit of
- 19:09Speaker 6: the preference right now. And you know, you're just kind
- 19:11Speaker 6: of wondering, is Washington intrigued by Jade daniels skill set
- 19:15Speaker 6: to match with Kyle Shanahan and will that elevate him?
- 19:18Speaker 3: But yeah, and I would need to be more convinced
- 19:21Speaker 3: on the physical skill set because I don't It doesn't
- 19:24Speaker 3: bother me that he's never played in bad weather. It
- 19:26Speaker 3: would bother me if he's I think Mac Jones is
- 19:30Speaker 3: bothered by playing in bad weather, right, because I don't
- 19:32Speaker 3: think he has the physical skill set to do it.
- 19:34Speaker 3: And I don't mean to make this all about beating
- 19:36Speaker 3: up on Mac. You know, Drake May has probably not
- 19:41Speaker 3: played a lot of games in bad weather read right,
- 19:43Speaker 3: But I think the frame you know, would tell you
- 19:46Speaker 3: he can he can play like that, and I think
- 19:49Speaker 3: Jaden Daniels probably does too. I think his skill set
- 19:52Speaker 3: probably is gonna be fine. I think skill set, but
- 19:57Speaker 3: but it's not up here for Mac Jones. Mac Jones
- 19:59Speaker 3: has our hard time ripping the ball through through wind.
- 20:02Speaker 10: Let's let's see what Let's see what Jaden daniels hand
- 20:06Speaker 10: size measures to that. Yeah, because just Drake May's hands
- 20:09Speaker 10: are are below average. It's like nine in one eighth. Yeah, Like,
- 20:13Speaker 10: I mean it's they're fine. Like, it's not like he's
- 20:15Speaker 10: got Kenny Pickett hands nine sorry, Kenny pick seven eight
- 20:20Speaker 10: Kenny Pickett hands if you're under nine, and we truck
- 20:26Speaker 10: And the fact that he didn't want to measure in
- 20:29Speaker 10: at the Jombai. It was, you know, more about a
- 20:31Speaker 10: weight thing, right, probably trying to add weight in between
- 20:34Speaker 10: now and the pro day at the end of March.
- 20:35Speaker 10: But yeah, I mean the weather thing doesn't bother me
- 20:38Speaker 10: as much as it might with other people because he
- 20:40Speaker 10: can run. So if you're worried that he's not going
- 20:43Speaker 10: to be able to, you know, rip the ball through
- 20:47Speaker 10: wind and stuff like that, well, you know, if you
- 20:50Speaker 10: run it thirty times, it's not as big.
- 20:53Speaker 3: And that's what I said, Like, I think it's something
- 20:54Speaker 3: to put on the radar because I don't think everybody
- 20:56Speaker 3: can do it. I promise myself I wouldn't get into
- 20:58Speaker 3: these combined things. But you bothered all you bothered at
- 21:01Speaker 3: all by the fact that Daniel's like you know, so
- 21:04Speaker 3: you didn't get that way in.
- 21:05Speaker 10: Yeah, because a little bit, because what he's gonna eat
- 21:08Speaker 10: Big Max between now and LSU's Pro Dad.
- 21:10Speaker 4: So so he's gonna just be like his his number.
- 21:13Speaker 3: And I think, boy was so mad.
- 21:16Speaker 4: Who's my boy, mar Alex? Yeah, it was so mad
- 21:19Speaker 4: on Sunday morning.
- 21:20Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, look, it's it's it's not the biggest
- 21:23Speaker 10: concern in the world, but the number that you get
- 21:26Speaker 10: from LSU later this month is going to be inflated
- 21:30Speaker 10: like that. He's not going to play at the number
- 21:32Speaker 10: that he weighs in at at the LSU Pro Day.
- 21:33Speaker 10: He's going to be probably five to ten pounds heavier
- 21:36Speaker 10: because he's been eating pasta and Big Max for the
- 21:39Speaker 10: last something and a half.
- 21:41Speaker 4: And uh, you know J J. McCarthy just did the
- 21:43Speaker 4: same thing.
- 21:44Speaker 3: So you know J J.
- 21:45Speaker 10: McCarthy came in at two nineteen, which is way bigger
- 21:47Speaker 10: than what he was at Michigan. So it's it's there.
- 21:51Speaker 10: Everybody does it.
- 21:52Speaker 2: Right, and they and they were all gushing over them.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Oh than people thought.
- 21:56Speaker 3: Good weight, it's good week for him, That's what they
- 21:58Speaker 3: were like. This why I sort of get frustrated and
- 22:02Speaker 3: I take it to the extreme. I agree, But so
- 22:06Speaker 3: Evan's right, they artificially inflate the numbers all across the board.
- 22:09Speaker 3: How about that?
- 22:10Speaker 8: Was it?
- 22:10Speaker 4: Roma Doon say that did the three cone shuttle until
- 22:14Speaker 4: the way you want it?
- 22:15Speaker 8: Like?
- 22:15Speaker 4: So that's what?
- 22:16Speaker 3: Yeah? Like, so we're just gonna keep testing until we
- 22:19Speaker 3: get the time that we want.
- 22:21Speaker 2: The coverage of that ye like day.
- 22:23Speaker 10: C Dale's was like, we've never seen this, Okay, just
- 22:26Speaker 10: for the record, and I love this isn't for the record.
- 22:29Speaker 10: The number that they use is the one that he
- 22:31Speaker 10: did the first time. They're not they're not giving him
- 22:34Speaker 10: the last I.
- 22:35Speaker 3: Understand that, but but the reaction of him doing it
- 22:38Speaker 3: over what do you think people are going to remember,
- 22:41Speaker 3: like the actual number or the like no effort exactly exactly.
- 22:49Speaker 6: Some of that stuff, though, is crossover for me that
- 22:52Speaker 6: it's not the Caleb Williams cry. It's that it feels
- 22:55Speaker 6: like some of this stuff is performative at this time
- 22:57Speaker 6: and you're you know, you're trying to send a message,
- 22:59Speaker 6: you're not really being genuine and you're more about all
- 23:01Speaker 6: eyes on me. What do they think?
- 23:03Speaker 2: You know?
- 23:03Speaker 6: Those kind of I mean I even. I mean, I
- 23:04Speaker 6: thought the same thing kind of with Caleb Williams, would
- 23:06Speaker 6: like he stayed until the very end. He was given
- 23:09Speaker 6: everybody a high five afterwards. I'm like, that's performative.
- 23:12Speaker 4: I think it is performative. But I will say this
- 23:14Speaker 4: and I agree.
- 23:15Speaker 3: I think one of you two, I think it was
- 23:17Speaker 3: Evan that said, you're not really concerned as much about
- 23:20Speaker 3: what they do with the podium, and I would largely
- 23:22Speaker 3: agree with that. But I do think those three quarterbacks,
- 23:26Speaker 3: how they came across was important, because quarterbacks different. It
- 23:29Speaker 3: just is you're the CEO of the team and you
- 23:32Speaker 3: need to come across, well, you need to present, to
- 23:35Speaker 3: use the the you know the vernacular today, Oh he presented,
- 23:39Speaker 3: presented whatever. But I think I just all three of
- 23:42Speaker 3: those guys. I thought all three of those guys did.
- 23:45Speaker 3: I thought they were really impressive. I thought all three
- 23:48Speaker 3: came across very.
- 23:49Speaker 2: What do you think? What do you think of Caleb
- 23:51Speaker 2: Williams saying I don't care who drafts me as long
- 23:53Speaker 2: as they go first.
- 23:56Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 23:56Speaker 10: I just I really feel like the Caleb Williams disc
- 24:00Speaker 10: ors has gotten out of control where the poor kid
- 24:02Speaker 10: cannot do anything correct, like whether oh he's now it's
- 24:06Speaker 10: performative not to pick on you dues, but like now
- 24:08Speaker 10: it's performative that he's really good and that, and now
- 24:11Speaker 10: you know at the podium like he said, you know
- 24:13Speaker 10: that he wasn't good and this and that, and it's
- 24:15Speaker 10: just like, no matter what he does, it's wrong. It
- 24:19Speaker 10: all because he went because he cried after one game.
- 24:22Speaker 3: Guy whose teammates hate him. That little back and forth
- 24:25Speaker 3: he had with Jerry Rice's son is a great braid.
- 24:28Speaker 3: That back and forth was funny, Like that didn't strike
- 24:31Speaker 3: me as a guy whose teammates didn't.
- 24:32Speaker 6: I'm not one hundred percent sure. Brendan Rice realized that
- 24:35Speaker 6: the Patriots had a new head coach. Somebody asked him
- 24:37Speaker 6: about the Patriots, and he went right and it's like,
- 24:39Speaker 6: oh man, Bill Belichick like just started going right into him.
- 24:41Speaker 6: I was like, a buddy, I think.
- 24:43Speaker 3: He missed some news.
- 24:46Speaker 10: So Caleb Williams went to high school with olo fashion.
- 24:48Speaker 10: Now it was fashion now by.
- 24:50Speaker 3: The way he then, we definitely cannot take him because
- 24:55Speaker 3: that it will take me so long to relearn fashion fashion.
- 24:59Speaker 2: What I want to call him. Anyways, that's funny.
- 25:01Speaker 4: I'm pretty sure James Franklins called him for sho.
- 25:06Speaker 3: Fashion now a dayless topics.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Like it's fashion now we care itea Joe Joe although
- 25:15Speaker 2: it was funny, mean it was it's all al Joe alternative.
- 25:19Speaker 6: He We've like sitting there and like he looks like
- 25:21Speaker 6: a big baby, and like usually that's an insult, don't
- 25:23Speaker 6: be such a big baby. Like, but he just looks
- 25:25Speaker 6: like a big baby, you know, Like like.
- 25:27Speaker 3: He just was fun to get to the point where
- 25:29Speaker 3: they look like kid the.
- 25:30Speaker 2: Tool control a delete.
- 25:32Speaker 10: I think that was six nine My biggest takeaway about
- 25:35Speaker 10: a lot of these guys, and like why I stand
- 25:37Speaker 10: up for Caleb. He's twenty years old, he's a kid
- 25:41Speaker 10: like he he it's gonna take some time for him
- 25:44Speaker 10: to mature. Like, yes, I thought in a lot of
- 25:46Speaker 10: ways he's a little bit immature.
- 25:47Speaker 3: It doesn't it doesn't mean that you agree with everything
- 25:49Speaker 3: he's done along the way. I just they're not deal
- 25:52Speaker 3: breakers for me the way that some people.
- 25:54Speaker 10: I just think some people forget that we're talking about
- 25:58Speaker 10: kids that are graduating or our juniors in college. And
- 26:02Speaker 10: you know, Jael was a perfect example. He's he's massive,
- 26:05Speaker 10: he's six eight three and twenty pounds, but then you
- 26:07Speaker 10: look at his face and he looks like he's sixteen,
- 26:09Speaker 10: you know, and then you remind yourself, like, all right, my.
- 26:11Speaker 6: Dad and I could see where my size was going,
- 26:13Speaker 6: so I was sort of tight end. I knew I
- 26:15Speaker 6: was going to tackle though.
- 26:16Speaker 4: It's crazy.
- 26:17Speaker 3: I mean, he was, He's a special I.
- 26:18Speaker 11: Did see though.
- 26:19Speaker 6: It was kind of an interesting number this and this
- 26:21Speaker 6: might be wrong, but I saw it. They said Cable
- 26:24Speaker 6: has made ten million dollars last year, a million, which
- 26:28Speaker 6: just you know, we talked about it.
- 26:30Speaker 4: It's a different lot of those things are grossly inaced.
- 26:32Speaker 6: Yeah, and it's possible, but I mean, but for.
- 26:35Speaker 3: Him, it's probably not because he didn't have national in LA.
- 26:39Speaker 7: Because I think coach primeson, I think he's at three
- 26:42Speaker 7: or four millions.
- 26:43Speaker 10: Oh yeah, he's driving around in like lamborghine.
- 26:44Speaker 11: Is just a different world.
- 26:46Speaker 6: Now, it's a different world. These are these kids coming
- 26:48Speaker 6: out have a whole different perspective on trying to become
- 26:51Speaker 6: a professional because they already kind of are professionals. They've
- 26:54Speaker 6: already kind of made it. They're not doing this to
- 26:55Speaker 6: like buy a house for their mom anymore, like their
- 26:58Speaker 6: mom was already like living in the Caribbean, you know,
- 27:00Speaker 6: like it's it's it's just a different motivation. It's a
- 27:02Speaker 6: whole different thing. And I just I wonder how, you know,
- 27:05Speaker 6: coaches are going to adjust to this to try to,
- 27:07Speaker 6: you know, motivate these players.
- 27:08Speaker 3: To leave the college games and go to the pros.
- 27:10Speaker 10: Yeah right, but I was, you know, we're chatting with people,
- 27:13Speaker 10: and a lot of people. I'm a big NBA fan,
- 27:17Speaker 10: as you all know. It feels like these guys are
- 27:20Speaker 10: becoming more and more like the NBA guys, where a
- 27:23Speaker 10: lot of it is going to be about their branding
- 27:26Speaker 10: and their image and their likeness and all that kind
- 27:29Speaker 10: of stuff, and talking to the guys at the podiums
- 27:32Speaker 10: and stuff. You know, some of these quarterbacks, receivers, it
- 27:35Speaker 10: is very Jason Tatum, Jalen Brown, Like when you listen
- 27:38Speaker 10: to their press conferences, it's it's very similar. And I
- 27:42Speaker 10: don't We're gonna have to get used to that, I know,
- 27:45Speaker 10: but it's not going to be the same thing.
- 27:48Speaker 2: I worry about it because football is a different game
- 27:50Speaker 2: than basketball. Man, you need everybody on the same page.
- 27:54Speaker 2: It's such more of a team sport. You know, one
- 27:57Speaker 2: or two guys can't carry you the way they can
- 28:00Speaker 2: in basketball. You gotta have the support of the teammates
- 28:05Speaker 2: and you know, you have to be on the same page.
- 28:09Speaker 6: Yeah, And it's like, you know, for all these kids
- 28:11Speaker 6: that are making millions of dollars, and I'm sure these
- 28:13Speaker 6: other guys are too, but there are still those like
- 28:15Speaker 6: these guys are are tough football dudes who look old
- 28:18Speaker 6: school football still still have that joke about the Alabama
- 28:21Speaker 6: guys like they're all the same, Like they are all
- 28:23Speaker 6: the same. It could be Dante high Tower right through
- 28:25Speaker 6: any of the guys of the combine, right down to
- 28:27Speaker 6: Will Rekord, the kicker who's like, I mean, he looks
- 28:29Speaker 6: like he's like five eight white dude, and the same
- 28:32Speaker 6: thing like that, just like merciless stare right through you
- 28:35Speaker 6: of like.
- 28:36Speaker 8: Through your soul.
- 28:37Speaker 11: I know.
- 28:37Speaker 6: It's it's so funny.
- 28:38Speaker 3: Every single Alabama guy.
- 28:40Speaker 6: I'm like, they are all exactly the same. And as
- 28:42Speaker 6: I said to Evan, I'm like, did they get them
- 28:44Speaker 6: that way or do they make them they're sabots?
- 28:47Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 28:47Speaker 6: Yeah, no longer though, no, no longer they I mean
- 28:51Speaker 6: they even some of the other players, I forget one
- 28:53Speaker 6: of them was I forget who was, but was even
- 28:56Speaker 6: talking about Saban and just what an impact he had
- 28:58Speaker 6: on the game, and you know saying, I think he's
- 29:00Speaker 6: just saying like, like, may name the National Championship Trophy
- 29:03Speaker 6: after Nick Saban. So there was there was a little
- 29:05Speaker 6: of that going around too.
- 29:07Speaker 2: So going back to the quarterbacks, I heard somebody say that,
- 29:13Speaker 2: you know, they would be happy with any one of
- 29:16Speaker 2: these three at number three at the third pick. Do
- 29:19Speaker 2: you guys agree like this? Any Okay? Really?
- 29:21Speaker 3: Yes?
- 29:22Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 29:22Speaker 6: Yeah. I think it's the move.
- 29:23Speaker 2: It's the move. So there's no guy that if he's
- 29:25Speaker 2: at three saying, you know what, we got a trade there.
- 29:26Speaker 6: No, I think these guys are all talented, and they're
- 29:28Speaker 6: all worth missing on. They're all worth taking a big
- 29:30Speaker 6: swing and a big strikeout on, and and you know
- 29:33Speaker 6: that that's just how the cookie crumbles. But I could
- 29:35Speaker 6: get excited about any single one of them, and I
- 29:38Speaker 6: think the move right now to me get that quarterback
- 29:41Speaker 6: and then get a tackle. Somehow, find a way to
- 29:44Speaker 6: get one of these tackles before they're all gone, because
- 29:46Speaker 6: they are going to go quick.
- 29:48Speaker 2: And you think there's plenty of receivers that you can
- 29:50Speaker 2: get them in round three.
- 29:52Speaker 6: Well, there always are, And I mean, I think if
- 29:53Speaker 6: that is the route that everybody I mean, I just
- 29:55Speaker 6: I think, like knowledgeable Patriot fans that kind of see
- 29:58Speaker 6: the big you know, the forest for the trees, is
- 30:00Speaker 6: that the right way to say? Yeah, we all kind
- 30:03Speaker 6: of feel the same way of Look, let's not go
- 30:06Speaker 6: get a Baker Mayfield. Let's get you know, a guy
- 30:08Speaker 6: who can stand the.
- 30:09Speaker 2: Guys with that, like any one of these three, you'd
- 30:11Speaker 2: be happy with.
- 30:12Speaker 7: Wait, one quick message, I have something from a friend. Hey,
- 30:15Speaker 7: Patriots fans, if you want to see Toyota's best offers,
- 30:17Speaker 7: including those not seen on TV, go to bio to
- 30:20Speaker 7: buy a Toyota dot com it's Toyota's official website for
- 30:23Speaker 7: deals from the official vehicle of the New England Patriot.
- 30:26Speaker 7: It's Toyota.
- 30:27Speaker 6: Let's go places.
- 30:28Speaker 11: Well done, professional.
- 30:30Speaker 3: I really thought that you had something Toyota. Okay, I
- 30:33Speaker 3: thought we had.
- 30:36Speaker 6: Just texted me and she said, so, Evan.
- 30:41Speaker 4: You go to Frids.
- 30:42Speaker 7: Uh.
- 30:42Speaker 10: Yeah, I'd be happy with all three of these quarterbacks,
- 30:45Speaker 10: would I I would like more information about how they
- 30:48Speaker 10: were planning on using Jaden Daniels, but that's not going
- 30:51Speaker 10: to happen. So I'm gonna have to just trust them
- 30:54Speaker 10: on it, I guess. But yeah, in terms of talent
- 30:56Speaker 10: and and what they bring to the table, they're all
- 30:58Speaker 10: worthy of the pick. I just I have my preferences
- 31:01Speaker 10: based off of the coaching staff that they put together.
- 31:04Speaker 6: I just feel too faed. There's always receivers, and there's
- 31:07Speaker 6: receivers through three rounds this year that you know can
- 31:10Speaker 6: come in. I don't know how, you know, there's reports
- 31:12Speaker 6: that they're offering Kendrick Bourne, Like it just seems like
- 31:14Speaker 6: the right move to me, like to surround a rookie
- 31:17Speaker 6: quarterback and a rookie tackle with some veteran weapons, and
- 31:22Speaker 6: we'll throw some stuff at the wall in the third
- 31:23Speaker 6: and fourth round. We don't need to overextend. This is
- 31:26Speaker 6: a very special tackle class, it seems like, So try
- 31:29Speaker 6: to get in it, you know. And I'd be fine
- 31:31Speaker 6: trading up from the second round into that low first
- 31:33Speaker 6: I mean, Evan, I'll let Evan pronounce Kingsley's last name,
- 31:37Speaker 6: the guy he took in.
- 31:37Speaker 11: His mock draft.
- 31:38Speaker 6: But but you know, there's some real intriguing guys that
- 31:41Speaker 6: I just you know, you get the quarterback, you get
- 31:43Speaker 6: the tackle, and we'll start to put the weapons around
- 31:45Speaker 6: him as we can, but maybe start with some veteran weapons,
- 31:47Speaker 6: which it feels to some extent is what they tried
- 31:49Speaker 6: to do with Mac. And I didn't hate that of
- 31:51Speaker 6: you know, hey, I we're gonna have a rookie. We
- 31:52Speaker 6: can't really have a rookie quarterback and a rookie receiver
- 31:55Speaker 6: that we're really trying to rely on. So to me,
- 31:57Speaker 6: the movie is quarterback Tackle and figure what was Wolf.
- 32:00Speaker 2: That said, you know, we want to weaponize our offense?
- 32:03Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 32:04Speaker 2: Do you read anything into that more than just doesn't
- 32:06Speaker 2: every team want to? Yeah?
- 32:08Speaker 10: I mean I think, you know, Girodd kind of piggybacked
- 32:11Speaker 10: off that and said that they need somebody that defenses
- 32:13Speaker 10: have to plan for that they have to double team
- 32:15Speaker 10: or whatever, and I I agree with that. I just
- 32:18Speaker 10: think with this draft board, the position that's going to
- 32:22Speaker 10: fall into your lap and on you know, the third
- 32:25Speaker 10: or fourth round, like Dudu is talking about his receiver,
- 32:27Speaker 10: that's the spot where there's going to be a surplus.
- 32:30Speaker 10: And there are gonna be guys that are probably second
- 32:34Speaker 10: round picks other years that are gonna end up being
- 32:35Speaker 10: third round picks this year just because of how many
- 32:38Speaker 10: receivers there are so.
- 32:39Speaker 6: I'm not to interrupt you, sorry, but we were just saying, like,
- 32:41Speaker 6: where were the last year's receivers rank with this group,
- 32:45Speaker 6: like the Jackson Smith and Jigbas of the world, Like
- 32:47Speaker 6: like they they would be down the list with the
- 32:50Speaker 6: number of guys that that are out there this year.
- 32:52Speaker 6: But and it just it seems like every year, I mean,
- 32:54Speaker 6: going back, you know when Paul and I wrote the comments,
- 32:56Speaker 6: every year there's there's solid guys if you're smart and
- 32:59Speaker 6: you hit on one, I mean, always a deep position.
- 33:01Speaker 4: But it seems like it's top heavy and deep. This year.
- 33:04Speaker 10: Yeah, I would say this year, there there's a good
- 33:07Speaker 10: chance that seven or eight go in the first round.
- 33:09Speaker 6: We were saying, like the twenty picks are like, I mean,
- 33:11Speaker 6: it's probably ridiculous to say twenty, but like twenty picks
- 33:14Speaker 6: on receivers and tackles in the first round. I mean,
- 33:16Speaker 6: that's too much, but it's not too crazy.
- 33:20Speaker 2: So it sounds like there's gonna be a lot of
- 33:21Speaker 2: good defensive value later because of all this rush on offense.
- 33:24Speaker 4: Well it's a quarter, it's not good. It's a good
- 33:27Speaker 4: class for the Patriots.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Good defensive place.
- 33:30Speaker 4: There's there's some edge guys.
- 33:31Speaker 10: There's some edge guys in some corners that are good players.
- 33:34Speaker 10: But this is a quarterback, tackle, receiver draft.
- 33:37Speaker 2: And we mentioned corner. We should mention that the Patriots
- 33:40Speaker 2: released J C. Jackson.
- 33:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 33:42Speaker 6: Yeah, I also report that maybe they'd opened him coming
- 33:44Speaker 6: back once he works his life out, But I don't
- 33:46Speaker 6: know about that. I saw somebody write that.
- 33:49Speaker 3: I did not read that, and I do not put
- 33:50Speaker 3: much stock in that. No, And I was surprised.
- 33:52Speaker 6: I mean, I think I think jirob was asked about
- 33:55Speaker 6: it maybe the first day like that, like the day
- 33:56Speaker 6: before he was released, and you know, he's still working
- 33:58Speaker 6: through close to close to the vest. But I mean, honestly,
- 34:01Speaker 6: I the least surprising thing I've seen with his cap
- 34:04Speaker 6: hit and well, I I.
- 34:05Speaker 2: Really think, you know, we're talking about receiver and tackle
- 34:09Speaker 2: and quarterback. If you go back to last year, I
- 34:13Speaker 2: think they did a masterful or Bill Belichick and and
- 34:16Speaker 2: and Steve and dradd did a masterful job mixing and
- 34:19Speaker 2: matching and getting by with that second with the cornerback situation,
- 34:24Speaker 2: especially after Gonzales has gone, because I don't think there
- 34:27Speaker 2: was a lot of really good talent back there.
- 34:30Speaker 6: And it's a free agency.
- 34:31Speaker 2: That's the case right now, we're assuming Gonzo is going
- 34:35Speaker 2: to be back, but beyond that, I think they're pretty
- 34:37Speaker 2: thin at corner Gilmore.
- 34:39Speaker 6: I mean, i'd bring Gilmour back. I mean, Evan calls
- 34:40Speaker 6: it the the I mean, I think Jonathan Jones is
- 34:43Speaker 6: okay in there. I just think, you know, you want
- 34:44Speaker 6: to have some dub. It's not it's the it's the
- 34:46Speaker 6: Jason mccordy role, you know, that third.
- 34:47Speaker 10: Guy, the third guy that a true boundary corner that
- 34:52Speaker 10: can be the third guy in.
- 34:53Speaker 2: I know, I like Jonathan Jones, but I'd love to
- 34:56Speaker 2: upgrade there and have him at our third That's that's.
- 35:01Speaker 3: Gonna be hard to do.
- 35:02Speaker 7: Yeah, I was gonna say, what do you think about
- 35:04Speaker 7: upgrading Miles like Miles Bryant or I mean, yeah, I
- 35:07Speaker 7: love Marcus Jones.
- 35:08Speaker 3: But I think just smaller.
- 35:09Speaker 10: I just think Miles Bryant, you know, Miles Bryan is
- 35:12Speaker 10: really is the nickel safety. You know, he plays on
- 35:15Speaker 10: the inside and kind of how Yeah, so Jonathan Jones
- 35:18Speaker 10: can play everywhere, like he's proven that, and I think,
- 35:21Speaker 10: you know, he makes a really good tandem with Christian
- 35:23Speaker 10: Gonzalez because Gonzalez got the size got the long speed
- 35:26Speaker 10: and Jonathan Jones can cover the tiree kills of the world.
- 35:29Speaker 2: But that's the thing about Jones is, like you said,
- 35:30Speaker 2: he's versatile, Yeah, and I want to keep him that way.
- 35:33Speaker 2: I want to keep him as my utility corner and
- 35:36Speaker 2: get another man on man guy.
- 35:39Speaker 10: They could use another boundary corner that can play seventy
- 35:43Speaker 10: snaps on the perimeter. Absolutely, but you know, Duce was
- 35:46Speaker 10: kind of going there. I think in free agency there
- 35:49Speaker 10: might be a couple of options in like the the
- 35:51Speaker 10: middle tier free agents that they could go because it's
- 35:54Speaker 10: just when you add corner into like a top one
- 35:57Speaker 10: hundred need for this team, and they only have three
- 35:59Speaker 10: top one hundred picks, have all these needs on offense,
- 36:01Speaker 10: it's hard to just find the picks to make all
- 36:03Speaker 10: these things happen.
- 36:05Speaker 6: So I think like giving Gilmour some time with with
- 36:08Speaker 6: with with Gonzalez is kind of appealing to me too.
- 36:10Speaker 3: I just think that that's going to be ridiculously hard
- 36:13Speaker 3: to Yeah.
- 36:13Speaker 2: Where is Gilmore these days? In terms of Dallas.
- 36:17Speaker 3: He's still a very good player.
- 36:18Speaker 10: But you think, so, oh yeah, he's still a starter.
- 36:23Speaker 3: He's a really good player. I mean a lot of
- 36:25Speaker 3: people in Dallas think he was the better cornerback, even
- 36:28Speaker 3: though the other guy had all the picks. The pick
- 36:30Speaker 3: sixes right, more consistent for sure, But I just feel
- 36:36Speaker 3: like you'd have to grossly overpay him to get him.
- 36:39Speaker 4: And I mean, i'm you know.
- 36:41Speaker 3: We we we taped a free agency thing and Evan
- 36:43Speaker 3: brought up Tyron Smith as a bridge tackle. We talked
- 36:47Speaker 3: about bridge quarterbacks and I think that sounds great in theory,
- 36:50Speaker 3: but what's in it for him? Like, why do I
- 36:52Speaker 3: want to sign a bridge deal? You're gonna have to
- 36:54Speaker 3: to play for a four and thirteen team? Yeah, And
- 36:57Speaker 3: I was sure, if you want to give me twenty
- 36:58Speaker 3: five million or something. And I think that that's kind of.
- 37:01Speaker 4: Similar to Gilmore. I think Gilmore will have options.
- 37:04Speaker 3: He's not going to get a five year, one hundred
- 37:06Speaker 3: and twenty million dollar con He's not going to get
- 37:09Speaker 3: Lugerius Snead money if Sneed didn't get franchised. But he's
- 37:14Speaker 3: going to get money, he's going to have options.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Remember how I was when the Patriots signed John Lynch. Yeah,
- 37:20Speaker 2: that's how I would be if they signed Tyron Smith.
- 37:22Speaker 2: Even though I think.
- 37:23Speaker 4: Tyron Smith can still play that even.
- 37:25Speaker 2: Though, well, you're always hurt.
- 37:27Speaker 3: He is always he is always hurt, but he but
- 37:31Speaker 3: he can play.
- 37:31Speaker 4: John Lynch was.
- 37:33Speaker 2: I know, but I was always a big John Lynch fan.
- 37:35Speaker 2: And when he became a Patriot, I was like, oh
- 37:37Speaker 2: my god, I can't believe this guy that I've always
- 37:39Speaker 2: liked is a Patriot. It would be the same thing
- 37:42Speaker 2: with Tyron Smith, Like just to think of him in
- 37:44Speaker 2: a Patriot uniform blows my mind.
- 37:46Speaker 10: Tyron first battle, to make it first first ballot, Hall
- 37:49Speaker 10: of Fame.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Honestly, I know people will make fun of me, but
- 37:53Speaker 2: when I watched the Cowboys, like, there'll be plays where
- 37:56Speaker 2: I just watch him because he's so good at his crew, because.
- 37:59Speaker 4: You're just so sophisticated.
- 38:02Speaker 3: He's an offensive off his arms like this. I don't
- 38:06Speaker 3: even watch my son.
- 38:07Speaker 2: His armleng is unbelievable. He's got the huge pause and
- 38:11Speaker 2: when he just gets on you, it's over.
- 38:13Speaker 8: That was the joke.
- 38:14Speaker 2: It's just it's just over.
- 38:16Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean my preferences, I've said it many times.
- 38:19Speaker 6: Is what they did in twenty one. I know, you
- 38:21Speaker 6: know there were flaws WITHO free agency class, but it's
- 38:23Speaker 6: you know, get the guys coming off of first contract
- 38:25Speaker 6: and these are long term guys. And you know, I
- 38:27Speaker 6: think the thing with Bill though, that that you always
- 38:29Speaker 6: didn't know going into free agencies. He always had a
- 38:31Speaker 6: soft spot for really really good players at the end
- 38:34Speaker 6: of the line and giving them a chance, and those
- 38:36Speaker 6: kind of guys kind of qualify for that. Under Bill,
- 38:39Speaker 6: I think you might be a little bit more likely
- 38:40Speaker 6: to see him work something out with Tyron Smith or Gilmore.
- 38:42Speaker 4: But I also think that they Bill would have a
- 38:45Speaker 4: hard time doing that.
- 38:46Speaker 6: Now because there's the money that he'd have to give him.
- 38:48Speaker 4: There's not.
- 38:50Speaker 3: What's the only thing that you can offer is more
- 38:53Speaker 3: money than everybody else. And that's dangerous, right is no
- 38:56Speaker 3: you want to I mean you can't say, you know,
- 38:58Speaker 3: come here and you have a chance to win a
- 38:59Speaker 3: Super Bowl? Yeah right, you don't have Brady, you don't
- 39:02Speaker 3: have an offense. There's just not a lot of tackles
- 39:04Speaker 3: and you went four and thirteen. There's not a lot
- 39:05Speaker 3: of tackles in this free agent class that excite you.
- 39:09Speaker 3: I mean, Jonah Williams would be.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Brown is number two, right, he's up there.
- 39:13Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I don't think you know, I wouldn't
- 39:15Speaker 3: have him ahead of you.
- 39:16Speaker 4: The one of those two.
- 39:17Speaker 10: No, I think I think Joonah Williams is an average
- 39:19Speaker 10: right tackle, which would be better than what they've had
- 39:22Speaker 10: at that spot. So i'd be you know, i'd call certainly.
- 39:26Speaker 3: That's why I think Juice is right. The second pick
- 39:30Speaker 3: should be a tackle.
- 39:32Speaker 6: It's just it's just watching the parade go. That's who's
- 39:34Speaker 6: you know, is anybody left by the time they get
- 39:35Speaker 6: to their actual.
- 39:36Speaker 4: For the secondary. That's why Sneid was the guy.
- 39:39Speaker 3: You know, I sort of made the comment, you have
- 39:41Speaker 3: all this cap money, I'm not interested in spreading that
- 39:44Speaker 3: around to six or seven different guys. I want to
- 39:47Speaker 3: identify a couple, and Snead was one that I sort
- 39:49Speaker 3: of earmarked.
- 39:50Speaker 4: Yeah, but I mean, I.
- 39:52Speaker 3: You know, you could still make a trade. It sounds
- 39:54Speaker 3: like that Kansas City is trying to do right by him.
- 39:56Speaker 3: They want to resign him. They franchised him, but gave
- 40:00Speaker 3: them permission to speak to other teams. So maybe there's
- 40:04Speaker 3: a deal to be worked out there. But that's gonna
- 40:07Speaker 3: cost you a lot of money. Yeah, and and picks
- 40:09Speaker 3: if you have to trade for them.
- 40:10Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 40:11Speaker 6: I mean, I just generally speaking, and I don't know
- 40:12Speaker 6: how it's going to play out. But I would say,
- 40:14Speaker 6: and maybe even a week from today right now on
- 40:16Speaker 6: the show, like I'm expecting that we're gonna have some
- 40:19Speaker 6: hype about the Patriots defense, just some moves that they're
- 40:21Speaker 6: gonna make. They're gonna add some real talent, some real
- 40:24Speaker 6: guys that you know, you feel like can make impacts
- 40:26Speaker 6: on the defense. Of course, everybody wants offense, but I
- 40:28Speaker 6: just think generally speaking, it makes the most sense to
- 40:31Speaker 6: grab those big name players. Like Paul said, you don't
- 40:34Speaker 6: go crazy with twelve different guys playing them all sixty percent. Yeah,
- 40:37Speaker 6: you know, grab a couple and pay them full and
- 40:40Speaker 6: you know, really insert them into the defense and elevate
- 40:43Speaker 6: that defense to another level. So you might have some
- 40:45Speaker 6: breathing room with.
- 40:46Speaker 2: The franchise tag deadlines today at four right, any chance
- 40:50Speaker 2: that they do. And when you or Duggar, I.
- 40:52Speaker 6: Don't think so. I mean, I I think they're gonna
- 40:55Speaker 6: let those guys. You see what's out there, and you know,
- 40:58Speaker 6: my hope is that we can come to set a
- 41:00Speaker 6: precedent here of resigning those guys too nice long term
- 41:04Speaker 6: deals and all of a sudden, I mean, how long
- 41:06Speaker 6: has it been. I mean, can you guys even say,
- 41:07Speaker 6: off the top of your head the last time they
- 41:08Speaker 6: resigned somebody long term and you're like, nice, we've got
- 41:11Speaker 6: a long term building block. Like for Mike on Winu
- 41:13Speaker 6: and Kyle Duger certainly both have you know, some warts,
- 41:16Speaker 6: but I think they're both, you know, at this point
- 41:18Speaker 6: worth it with this cap. You know, they're not hamstrung
- 41:21Speaker 6: for money or anything like that. I just think, get
- 41:23Speaker 6: off this train of drafting guys they play four years,
- 41:27Speaker 6: then they leave, and you know, just show the locker
- 41:30Speaker 6: room guys that stay here and play. We're gonna we're
- 41:32Speaker 6: gonna reward those.
- 41:33Speaker 4: It's just where where do you Where are you playing
- 41:35Speaker 4: big Mic?
- 41:36Speaker 3: Because yeah, right guard, I think you have to play.
- 41:39Speaker 10: Him at guard and if you're gonna pay him fifteen
- 41:41Speaker 10: million dollars when you have City so who's was pretty
- 41:46Speaker 10: good last year as a rookie and I think is
- 41:48Speaker 10: serviceable functional guard. I don't know about cole Strange. You know,
- 41:52Speaker 10: maybe it's City so versus Cole Strange for left guard
- 41:55Speaker 10: maybe and on one who kicks inside the right guard
- 41:57Speaker 10: he's not a tackle in this so, but.
- 42:01Speaker 6: I think that the ability to at least play there
- 42:03Speaker 6: in a pinch is worth something invaluable and that's you know,
- 42:06Speaker 6: part of what we love about Michael Wyu. That's who
- 42:08Speaker 6: he is, and he's a maler and I mean, I
- 42:10Speaker 6: just I think the only question really is, and I'll
- 42:12Speaker 6: let you kind of jump on that, Evan, is you
- 42:14Speaker 6: know what Alex van Pelt wants to do with the
- 42:16Speaker 6: wide zone? How much do we like Michael and Whenu
- 42:18Speaker 6: at right guard? And you know, is it possible that
- 42:20Speaker 6: cold Strange might even be the better fit for that
- 42:23Speaker 6: kind of offense.
- 42:24Speaker 10: I mean, it's definitely better for him to play guard
- 42:27Speaker 10: in it because you get those combination blocks on the
- 42:29Speaker 10: inside and he's going to get on a double team
- 42:31Speaker 10: and things like that. But if he's asked to block
- 42:35Speaker 10: out on the perimeter at tackle, it's just not his game.
- 42:38Speaker 6: Yeah, And it's.
- 42:39Speaker 3: Almost like misusing him, you know.
- 42:40Speaker 10: And so I just I that's what I worry about,
- 42:44Speaker 10: is they're going to pay him this money to do
- 42:46Speaker 10: all the things that you said, to send a message
- 42:49Speaker 10: to the locker room, to do the right thing by
- 42:51Speaker 10: a player that's been you know, a core player or
- 42:53Speaker 10: whatever Elliott Wolf called him. But then he's going to
- 42:56Speaker 10: be kind of playing in a system that doesn't fit him.
- 42:59Speaker 6: Yeah, and only they know that.
- 43:01Speaker 2: All right, Paul needs to eat. But first I think
- 43:03Speaker 2: we have something to say.
- 43:04Speaker 8: I do.
- 43:05Speaker 3: I have a special message.

- 44:45Speaker 13: As I think back over the past few seasons, I
- 44:48Speaker 13: wanted to thank my most trusted game day teammate, Toastedos.
- 44:54Speaker 13: As I recall the last minute grocery runs in late
- 44:57Speaker 13: night dishwashing, the salty defeats and spicy victories, I realize
- 45:03Speaker 13: it was all thanks to my teammate, Tostitos. It was
- 45:08Speaker 13: always you, Tostitos. Team up with Toastitos, the official chip
- 45:13Speaker 13: and Dip of the New England Patriots, and we.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Are back with another edition of the PU Halftime Show.
- 45:21Speaker 1: I'm joined by Chris and Alex again and guys, as usual,
- 45:25Speaker 1: we're gonna start off with some trivia. So question one,
- 45:29Speaker 1: who scored against the Patriots? Against the Patriots and Super
- 45:33Speaker 1: Bowl thirty six and thirty eight? All right? Question two?
- 45:39Speaker 1: How many career receiving yards does Tom Brady have? All right?
- 45:44Speaker 1: And question three which kind of cycles into our topic
- 45:47Speaker 1: for the day, what English soccer team does Tom Brady
- 45:50Speaker 1: co own? All right? Send your answers to the web
- 45:53Speaker 1: radio Patriots dot com. And so, guys, I say this
- 45:56Speaker 1: ties in the last question because on Twitter a couple
- 45:59Speaker 1: of weeks ago, there was a question is if you
- 46:02Speaker 1: could set your starting eleven with animals, what would it be?
- 46:06Speaker 1: And so like dads were taking their kids magnets and
- 46:09Speaker 1: putting them on fridges and being like, oh, our right
- 46:11Speaker 1: back is going to be a cheetah and our striker
- 46:13Speaker 1: is going to be a line And then people would
- 46:14Speaker 1: get really into it. And so I posed this question
- 46:17Speaker 1: to Chris over here, because I said, what would you
- 46:20Speaker 1: build out for your starting eleven for football? At Chris?
- 46:23Speaker 1: Did you do offense? Only to you offensive?
- 46:25Speaker 2: De think?
- 46:25Speaker 14: I think This project took me more than ten hours
- 46:27Speaker 14: to complete because I was I was thinking about this.
- 46:30Speaker 8: I had the notes in.
- 46:31Speaker 3: Front of me.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Are we doing offense? Offense? All right? Okay, perfect, let's
- 46:35Speaker 1: hear it all right?
- 46:36Speaker 8: So which I started right to left? What do you think?
- 46:38Speaker 1: How are your heart desires?
- 46:39Speaker 8: I'll start.
- 46:39Speaker 14: I'm gonna start with all right, I'll start right here
- 46:42Speaker 14: we go, so on the right. You know that outside
- 46:47Speaker 14: wide receiver. I have a cheetah.
- 46:48Speaker 8: All right, you need the speed, you need the burner?
- 46:50Speaker 8: Did you down? Feel sure?
- 46:51Speaker 14: Exactly exactly who I was thinking at the tight end
- 46:55Speaker 14: at the y.
- 46:56Speaker 8: You got a giraffe. All right, now hear me out
- 46:58Speaker 8: now let me just jump in.
- 47:00Speaker 1: I'm ready to fight this.
- 47:02Speaker 8: No, that's okay.
- 47:03Speaker 14: I put the giraffe at the why and I'm doing
- 47:05Speaker 14: that because you have somebody kind of bulky right big tall,
- 47:08Speaker 14: not that quick, can go up and get it like
- 47:11Speaker 14: you can throw it up to him when you need it,
- 47:12Speaker 14: kind of a gronk esque stature.
- 47:15Speaker 1: All right, my brother's getting folded when he runs across
- 47:18Speaker 1: the line.
- 47:19Speaker 8: Maybe, but guess what if he goes up and brings
- 47:21Speaker 8: it down. That's all you need.
- 47:22Speaker 1: You need, you yards and he's not playing another snap right,
- 47:24Speaker 1: keep going, keep go ahead?
- 47:25Speaker 8: Second? All right? Uh well, actually I go to the
- 47:28Speaker 8: slot receiver.
- 47:28Speaker 14: I have a squirrel and now this is me show edelmanirrel.
- 47:35Speaker 2: Just a squirrel.
- 47:35Speaker 14: It can be whatever you want, you know, yeah, of course,
- 47:38Speaker 14: and squirrels quick, shifty, you know, just able to move around,
- 47:43Speaker 14: quick out you know whatever you need to throw it
- 47:44Speaker 14: to throw it to him whatever.
- 47:46Speaker 8: On the outside. We got the kangaroo, the last receiver.
- 47:49Speaker 14: We have the kangaroo, and I have this one and
- 47:52Speaker 14: again thinking a tall, lanky has ups go and get
- 47:56Speaker 14: the ball, high point of ball, kind of like the giraffe,
- 48:00Speaker 14: but a little bit quicker, you know, something like that.
- 48:03Speaker 14: And then quarterback has to be the lion. Just the
- 48:06Speaker 14: king of king of the offense runs a show.
- 48:11Speaker 2: Don't the mindset?
- 48:13Speaker 1: It's the mindset.
- 48:14Speaker 14: I talked to Deuce about this earlier and he said
- 48:16Speaker 14: the same exact thing. I said, why does that matter? Anyways?
- 48:19Speaker 14: Running back is a tiger. You have the speed, you
- 48:21Speaker 14: have the quickness, you have the aggressiveness, you have the strength,
- 48:24Speaker 14: all of it's there. So the two cat backfield huge huge,
- 48:28Speaker 14: the lion at you and tiger is a running back.
- 48:32Speaker 14: My offensive line. Now this is where it gets interesting.
- 48:34Speaker 14: You try to go big, but you also want to
- 48:35Speaker 14: go a little bit quick. So I have a righty quarterback. Okay,
- 48:40Speaker 14: my line is right, he throws the ball at his
- 48:42Speaker 14: right hand. My left tackle is a bison, kind of quick, still,
- 48:47Speaker 14: kind of big, strong, protect your left side, your blind side.
- 48:51Speaker 14: Left guard elephant, that's the one, not typically the point guard.
- 48:55Speaker 1: You're putting the big boys up front.
- 48:56Speaker 14: Yeah, the elephant's left guard. Center is a hippo. I mean,
- 49:00Speaker 14: you can't go wrong with the hippo at center.
- 49:01Speaker 8: You just can't.
- 49:03Speaker 14: Right guard grizzly bear. That can be your polling guard
- 49:06Speaker 14: if you really want to be flip flop them whatever
- 49:08Speaker 14: you need. And on the right tackle you got the
- 49:11Speaker 14: rhino that stele person kind of keep you in the pocket,
- 49:13Speaker 14: protect you at all costs.
- 49:15Speaker 8: That's mile leven on the field.
- 49:17Speaker 1: On offense, you gotta get rid of the draft.
- 49:21Speaker 15: I would get rid of the draft my tight end.
- 49:23Speaker 15: So this is I would have the kangaroo be the
- 49:26Speaker 15: tight end because if you need the kangaroo to block,
- 49:29Speaker 15: he can be like at the line. He's thick enough
- 49:31Speaker 15: he can use his feet to kick people and kind
- 49:34Speaker 15: of push him back that way, if he needs to
- 49:35Speaker 15: go up for the ball, he can go up for
- 49:36Speaker 15: the ball. I would have just to add to that too,
- 49:40Speaker 15: a bull or some sort of animal like that, and
- 49:43Speaker 15: the backfield as.
- 49:43Speaker 11: A running back.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, change the running back.
- 49:46Speaker 15: And uh, I think we're like underrating monkeys.
- 49:50Speaker 2: Yeah for the quarterback, like they can legit.
- 49:52Speaker 1: Do you put the gorilla in there too?
- 49:53Speaker 2: No?
- 49:53Speaker 8: No, no, see I don't.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Again a moose on the offense.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Yeah, getting the antler some inaction.
- 50:01Speaker 8: That's I like the moose. The moos. I was thinking big.
- 50:04Speaker 14: I'm thinking big bears are quick, especially.
- 50:09Speaker 1: I think you got to move that.
- 50:10Speaker 10: The the hippo, how, I don't know your hippos, your center.
- 50:14Speaker 1: And a squirrel, Like you get a falcon in there?
- 50:18Speaker 3: What's the falcon to do more than a squirrel?
- 50:20Speaker 15: Okay, hear me out, you upgrade, you let the squirrel walk.
- 50:25Speaker 15: You sign a leaping lemur.
- 50:28Speaker 1: I think you need to, which I've seen, I've seen
- 50:32Speaker 1: you don't shut your mouth. We'll tell you about it later.
- 50:36Speaker 1: The the I think, having having seen, having seen this
- 50:43Speaker 1: animal close, it's the scariest thing I've ever seen. You
- 50:46Speaker 1: gotta throw the hyaena in there to watch swap the
- 50:48Speaker 1: squirrel at the hyena. All right, those things are scary,
- 50:51Speaker 1: those things. Those things can do some damage.
- 50:53Speaker 8: But then whenever they face any adversity, they just run away.
- 50:56Speaker 1: So you know it's fine, they're fast. I don't know,
- 51:02Speaker 1: all right, all right, Chris, you know, I honestly, the
- 51:05Speaker 1: only thing I truly disagree with is a draft. Things
- 51:08Speaker 1: getting folded. You don't know that though, I do know.
- 51:10Speaker 8: That, alright. I was scrolling on.
- 51:14Speaker 15: That.
- 51:14Speaker 2: Something doesn't have to be perfect.
- 51:17Speaker 8: It doesn't have to be perfect the draft.
- 51:18Speaker 1: Like a blue guy.
- 51:19Speaker 2: Yeah, he is.
- 51:20Speaker 14: A great, great, great mental, amazing character, exactly. Mike is
- 51:28Speaker 14: a great example just to get something done.
- 51:31Speaker 1: Miami to Kiki.
- 51:34Speaker 14: Sure here, that's what Yeah, that's what I was thinking
- 51:39Speaker 14: about it. But the Giraft, go up, get it, bring
- 51:42Speaker 14: it down. He has wheels. You see him in the
- 51:44Speaker 14: open field.
- 51:44Speaker 8: He's he's cooking Giraft.
- 51:47Speaker 2: Try to walk.
- 51:49Speaker 8: Are we working with the baby draft? It's a regular draft,
- 51:52Speaker 8: Bryan's a regular draft. Someone's yeah, I don't know. I'm
- 51:56Speaker 8: just saying I've scrolling on. TikTok.
- 51:58Speaker 14: There's a lion chasing this giraffe and Jess, guess who
- 52:01Speaker 14: got away draft.
- 52:03Speaker 1: All right, how about zebra.
- 52:07Speaker 8: Vulnerable vulnerable bait for everything?
- 52:09Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, I think we've reached our point. This one,
- 52:12Speaker 1: this one might make it onto the show, this might
- 52:15Speaker 1: continue on to the show. So I don't know, guys,
- 52:18Speaker 1: thank you for joining send your answers in for trivia.
- 52:21Speaker 1: As I've always said, we might need to get some
- 52:23Speaker 1: new shirts. It's just we're running low, so we'll see.
- 52:26Speaker 8: You're the keeper of the shirt.
- 52:26Speaker 1: I'm gonna keeper shirts. I'm gonna want some hoodies. But hey,
- 52:29Speaker 1: that's that's a different topic. All right, guys, thanks for
- 52:32Speaker 1: drawing us always, and let's get back to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 52:36Speaker 5: When someone accidentally threw away the school play costumes, replacements
- 52:41Speaker 5: were shipped with FedEx and with picture proof of delivery,
- 52:44Speaker 5: everyone could focus on the perfect opening night FedEx where
- 52:48Speaker 5: now it's next for residential delivery only.
- 52:52Speaker 1: And now great moments in.
- 52:57Speaker 3: History Ago I used.
- 53:00Speaker 2: To build a team and I'm sorry, like I don't
- 53:03Speaker 2: know you.
- 53:03Speaker 3: I got a little hot, okay.
- 53:04Speaker 6: Mike, Well it's like you're gonna the one example from
- 53:07Speaker 6: the draft is justin Warwick when we missed on a
- 53:09Speaker 6: fifth round kicker, Like you kidding? Me, you're gonna ignore
- 53:12Speaker 6: Michael and when you Kyle Duggart, like the guys that
- 53:14Speaker 6: have actually played and look good, but you're concerned that
- 53:16Speaker 6: they missed on a kicker when they brought in a
- 53:18Speaker 6: guy who's thirty seven years old and has not missed
- 53:20Speaker 6: the kick since September.
- 53:21Speaker 3: Like, come on, like be realistic.
- 53:23Speaker 6: I get what you're trying to say about like the draft,
- 53:25Speaker 6: but like be reasonable about the picks that they did
- 53:27Speaker 6: have training in the wrong direction. Well, guess what, he
- 53:29Speaker 6: drafted some good players this year too. When those guys
- 53:31Speaker 6: are draft for a one.
- 53:32Speaker 3: Quick second, you guys can continue this.
- 53:33Speaker 2: Sure.
- 53:34Speaker 4: I'm just so disappointed in myself. It took a year
- 53:37Speaker 4: and a half for that, and I wasn't involved like that.
- 53:40Speaker 4: I think I think I got I'm ashamed of myself.
- 53:42Speaker 2: I'm happy that I want to see.
- 53:44Speaker 3: I'm ashamed of myself that I finally got that out
- 53:46Speaker 3: of him and I had nothing to do.
- 53:47Speaker 4: I think we got a new nickname. Hot Mike.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Hot Mike, Hot Mike.
- 53:52Speaker 11: I like it.
- 53:52Speaker 1: That's another great moment from.
- 53:57Speaker 6: Easy to Drink, Easy to Enjoy.
- 54:00Speaker 7: Blood Light, the official beer sponsor of the New England Patriots.
- 54:03Speaker 2: All Right, there's another read in the can doing great.
- 54:07Speaker 2: We also had trivia during halftime, excellent halftime trivia, So
- 54:11Speaker 2: I'll throw those out there now. The first one was
- 54:14Speaker 2: who scored against the Patriots in Super Bowl thirty six
- 54:17Speaker 2: and thirty eight?
- 54:19Speaker 3: Rickey Pol?
- 54:19Speaker 2: I know Ricky Poll is correct? Kevin or Keith in
- 54:23Speaker 2: New River Gorge, West Virginia. Second one was how many
- 54:27Speaker 2: career receiving yards does TB twelve have?
- 54:30Speaker 6: Oh gosh, he had that one his first year. I
- 54:33Speaker 6: remember the one.
- 54:34Speaker 10: Against the Titans in the regular season.
- 54:37Speaker 6: Didn't catch for Eagles Super Bowl.
- 54:39Speaker 4: Thanks, thanks for that.
- 54:40Speaker 6: I'm gonna say eighteen yards.
- 54:42Speaker 3: I was gonna say twenty seven.
- 54:45Speaker 10: Oh eight, seven sixty five, the one against the Eagles,
- 54:50Speaker 10: he ran pretty like after the catch, he ran a
- 54:52Speaker 10: little while with it.
- 54:53Speaker 3: Right.
- 54:54Speaker 2: So what English soccer team does Tom Brady co own?
- 54:58Speaker 8: I didn't even know.
- 54:59Speaker 6: He sounds like a he's co owned.
- 55:00Speaker 2: It's soccer team Soccer Arsenal, Birmingham City.
- 55:06Speaker 6: Alex El got that.
- 55:09Speaker 2: You know?
- 55:09Speaker 6: You mentioned Ricky Proll on my on My Growing List
- 55:12Speaker 6: of Things details of the Dynasty doc left out? How
- 55:15Speaker 6: did they leave out Ricky Proll before Super Bowl thirty six?
- 55:18Speaker 6: Going tonight. A dynasty is born, right like it writes itself.
- 55:21Speaker 6: I don't know, that's my That's that's one of the
- 55:23Speaker 6: thing on my extensive lists that I will reveal at
- 55:25Speaker 6: some point.
- 55:25Speaker 2: Well, we should say that we are doing the wrap
- 55:29Speaker 2: up podcast this Friday. We'll have another one episode seven
- 55:33Speaker 2: and eight, so I can't wait for that.
- 55:36Speaker 6: That'll drop Friday, if it's all right, I'd like to say,
- 55:39Speaker 6: because I wasn't here when you guys talked about those ones,
- 55:41Speaker 6: but I thought the Hernandez one was I guess chilling
- 55:45Speaker 6: is the word. The way it started with just you know,
- 55:47Speaker 6: the picture of him, you know, which almost I was
- 55:50Speaker 6: waiting for it to be Matt Smith being the one
- 55:52Speaker 6: like Aaron, can you give me a little bit, you know,
- 55:54Speaker 6: like they're going through matter giving his directions. But that
- 55:57Speaker 6: was just kind of a great way to open it.
- 55:59Speaker 6: And I actually watched that episode twice coming back, and
- 56:02Speaker 6: I knew that story too, but but that episode I
- 56:05Speaker 6: thought was was just was liorally.
- 56:07Speaker 2: I think what made it for me were the interviews.
- 56:09Speaker 7: I mean, Branch, oh, yeah, don't spills too much for
- 56:12Speaker 7: the ones you were behind?
- 56:13Speaker 16: Well, yeah, yeah, I agree with frand the three receivers, Lloyd,
- 56:23Speaker 16: Branch and Welker were all really good, and I did
- 56:25Speaker 16: think that that was one of the stronger episodes that
- 56:28Speaker 16: they've they've put together, and there's.
- 56:30Speaker 6: Some other crime documentaries that really go into details on
- 56:33Speaker 6: some of the other cases and and some of that
- 56:36Speaker 6: other stuff. But I thought it was kind of buried
- 56:37Speaker 6: in there that that they said he was I don't
- 56:40Speaker 6: know if he was absolved or they said he was
- 56:42Speaker 6: never really they dropped any kind of investigation or charges
- 56:46Speaker 6: on that Boston thing.
- 56:47Speaker 11: Was that what it was?
- 56:48Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, it was a technicality when he was in
- 56:50Speaker 3: prison that he was absolved of, but it was more
- 56:53Speaker 3: paperwork than innocence.
- 56:55Speaker 6: You could just see it in Welker's face too, Like
- 56:57Speaker 6: you know those guys just I mean, I guess with
- 56:59Speaker 6: your team mates, you know, you always kind of know
- 57:01Speaker 6: some people who just aren't on the same wavelength of
- 57:03Speaker 6: view you You're you're there with them and then you
- 57:06Speaker 6: go your separate ways at the end of the day
- 57:07Speaker 6: or the end of the week, and it's like, what's
- 57:09Speaker 6: that guy going off to get into I I don't
- 57:11Speaker 6: want to.
- 57:11Speaker 2: Know, Right, do not hang out with Checho, Do not
- 57:17Speaker 2: with Chico?
- 57:18Speaker 7: Uh?
- 57:19Speaker 2: PATS five hundred is the Ace ticket hutline web radio
- 57:22Speaker 2: at Patriots dot com. We've covered a lot, but let's
- 57:24Speaker 2: get everyone involved because I'm sure people have things they
- 57:28Speaker 2: need to talk about. We'll start with Ryan in New Hampshire.
- 57:31Speaker 2: What's up Ryan? Ryan? Oh my god? He was online
- 57:37Speaker 2: for for We got to figure out like lobby and
- 57:43Speaker 2: who's not? Like Brad's in Ohio?
- 57:45Speaker 3: What's that's definitely an even gay lobby, like third down.
- 57:51Speaker 2: Back Eldred's in North Carolina's Bobby kind of Aldred? Really
- 57:58Speaker 2: he's not here?
- 58:00Speaker 4: Small something filled the phone lines.
- 58:03Speaker 2: Freddy Well and Philam?
- 58:04Speaker 6: What are you doing with Williams there? I believe it.
- 58:06Speaker 2: I'm here, Yeah, finally, how all right? One?
- 58:14Speaker 17: First of all, I just want to say first, you know,
- 58:16Speaker 17: you gotta get their leady I praise first.
- 58:18Speaker 8: Good, all right.
- 58:22Speaker 17: I got a strong take, but Patriots don't feel that.
- 58:24Speaker 17: I listened to Evan and Jus and even Alex bar two. Gentlemen,
- 58:32Speaker 17: y'all always say the wide receiver classes deep. So hey,
- 58:36Speaker 17: I gotta give you some pushback. Some of those receivers
- 58:39Speaker 17: that's in the second round basically that might have could
- 58:42Speaker 17: have bet in the second round I don't know they
- 58:44Speaker 17: moved up to number one. Some of those guys ran
- 58:46Speaker 17: a four to three to three, uh, four to two
- 58:50Speaker 17: one and maybe a four to four one. And I
- 58:53Speaker 17: can name a couple of names like Brian Thomas, so Forth,
- 58:56Speaker 17: Mitchell from Texas Worthy also from Texas Lab, mccacky, and
- 59:03Speaker 17: I think if I'm missing now somebody else.
- 59:05Speaker 6: So again.
- 59:08Speaker 17: For us at the third and fourth round, can you
- 59:10Speaker 17: give me some names please, because we need.
- 59:12Speaker 4: A whole mock draft on it.
- 59:14Speaker 10: Actually you can check it out on Patriots dot com.
- 59:16Speaker 8: Yeah, there you go.
- 59:18Speaker 3: I just you know, I'm not gonna try to I'm
- 59:20Speaker 3: not going to try to fight for Mike and Evan.
- 59:24Speaker 3: But but no, no, But like William, you just said
- 59:27Speaker 3: like you're pushing back on the fact that they said
- 59:29Speaker 3: that the wide receiver class is deep, and then you
- 59:31Speaker 3: just rattled off about ten guys that are not Marvin Harrison,
- 59:36Speaker 3: Roma Dunsa and Elik Neighbors, Like, so, isn't that kind
- 59:40Speaker 3: of illustrating how deep the class is? Al So, Brian
- 59:42Speaker 3: Thomas the first Yeah, okay, I'm not skipping on Marvin
- 59:49Speaker 3: Harrison Junior.
- 59:50Speaker 17: No, no, no, I'm elite neighbors for women do they I'm
- 59:53Speaker 17: leaving them all for a reason. But they were early.
- 59:56Speaker 3: No, I know, but they're trying to tell you that
- 59:58Speaker 3: they think the wide receiver class is deep. They just
- 1:00:01Speaker 3: got back from the combine. They're telling you their feeling
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: is this is a deep class. You're pushing back against it.
- 1:00:08Speaker 3: But you rattled off a lot of guys who were
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: impressive at the combine, and I think we're ten or
- 1:00:13Speaker 3: twelve deep.
- 1:00:14Speaker 4: That's that's deep. That's like to me, that's.
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: Illustrating how many good prospects there are in this wide
- 1:00:22Speaker 3: receiver class.
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: I think that Mike and Evan.
- 1:00:24Speaker 6: Well, all right now, let me let mean I'll throw
- 1:00:26Speaker 6: Mari Troy Franklin, Jalen Polk, Malekai Corley, Ricky Purcell, Jermine Burton,
- 1:00:31Speaker 6: Jacob Cowing.
- 1:00:33Speaker 10: So it means I'm almost Donia Smith with all these guys,
- 1:00:37Speaker 10: and I think I'm going to have eighteen receivers in
- 1:00:39Speaker 10: the top one hundred eighteen.
- 1:00:42Speaker 4: But how many.
- 1:00:46Speaker 17: Said the third and fourth round, what's going to be
- 1:00:48Speaker 17: there for the faces because they won't be those guys.
- 1:00:50Speaker 10: Yes, it will one hundred percent. Not all of these
- 1:00:53Speaker 10: guys can go in the first fifty picks. William like
- 1:00:55Speaker 10: somebody like some guys have to fall to sixty eight, Like,
- 1:00:58Speaker 10: there's not going to be if you have eighteen receivers
- 1:01:01Speaker 10: that have top one hundred grades, it's not like all
- 1:01:04Speaker 10: eighteen of them are going to go in the first round.
- 1:01:06Speaker 10: So at some point the board is going to have
- 1:01:08Speaker 10: to fall, you know, skuys are going to fall down
- 1:01:10Speaker 10: the board a little bit. Like for instance, I think
- 1:01:13Speaker 10: that you know some of the guys that you mentioned.
- 1:01:15Speaker 10: I agree eighty Mitchell definitely put himself in the first
- 1:01:18Speaker 10: round conversation, I think that's a lock at this point,
- 1:01:21Speaker 10: he's a first rounder. I'm not sure, Lad, I like
- 1:01:24Speaker 10: both of them. I'm not sure me too. I'm not
- 1:01:26Speaker 10: sure Lad McConkie is a first rounder. I'm not sure xavier'
- 1:01:30Speaker 10: worthy still, i'm not sure is a first rounder because
- 1:01:32Speaker 10: of his weight. You know, one hundred and sixty five
- 1:01:34Speaker 10: pounds is not very big. I think that you know
- 1:01:38Speaker 10: guys like Deuce you're mentioning, like Malchai Corley, Ricky Piersoll,
- 1:01:42Speaker 10: Brennan Rice from usc you know Roman Wilson from Michigan.
- 1:01:47Speaker 10: I think there's a chance you know guy like Xavier Lguette,
- 1:01:49Speaker 10: who's pretty raw and it still really has a long
- 1:01:51Speaker 10: way to go. Well, those guys are all guys that
- 1:01:54Speaker 10: I think are in play for you at sixty eight.
- 1:01:57Speaker 6: I would just say to William Lake, it's it's I
- 1:01:59Speaker 6: think we all agree that quarterback, tackle, receiver. You know,
- 1:02:02Speaker 6: you'd like to really hit those picks out of the
- 1:02:04Speaker 6: park this year. And you know, I look at the
- 1:02:07Speaker 6: tackle class and it seems kind of special the way
- 1:02:09Speaker 6: it is, but it's not like the receiver class. You know,
- 1:02:12Speaker 6: once you get past kind of that early second round,
- 1:02:14Speaker 6: you're starting to really talk about guys who are a
- 1:02:16Speaker 6: little bit more of a projection at tackle. So you know,
- 1:02:19Speaker 6: you just you can't nail all of them. So that was,
- 1:02:21Speaker 6: you know, kind of part of the philosophy too. Otherwise,
- 1:02:23Speaker 6: like you know, not to say that every year is
- 1:02:25Speaker 6: as deep as this receiver class scenes, but generally speaking,
- 1:02:28Speaker 6: you know, you kind of always feel like there's always receivers.
- 1:02:30Speaker 6: That's the position everybody loves to play. So you know,
- 1:02:32Speaker 6: that's kind of why I was picking it up the
- 1:02:34Speaker 6: way the way that we were.
- 1:02:36Speaker 17: Okay, so let me do this one last thing. Okay,
- 1:02:41Speaker 17: I know we need the quarterback. I know we need
- 1:02:43Speaker 17: to check I am which all one hundred percent on that. Okay, yeah,
- 1:02:48Speaker 17: but when you come to the wide receiver position, I
- 1:02:51Speaker 17: am dany R five because it's not like the face
- 1:02:54Speaker 17: to have a good track record draft in or the
- 1:02:57Speaker 17: belf and receivers. Okay, yeah, I think we all agree, right, yeah,
- 1:03:00Speaker 17: for sure.
- 1:03:01Speaker 10: Well the Patriots used to have a good track.
- 1:03:03Speaker 17: So yeah, so okay, so they're they're picking somebody in
- 1:03:09Speaker 17: a free agency named Noman Brown from the Houston Texas.
- 1:03:12Speaker 17: I guess he's the replacement for devont Kate Parker. So
- 1:03:15Speaker 17: I'm like, who who's going to be the receiver that
- 1:03:18Speaker 17: the defensive court is gonna have to plan for? And
- 1:03:21Speaker 17: ain't knja born is We don't know yet.
- 1:03:25Speaker 10: I would just say that we don't know, thanks William,
- 1:03:27Speaker 10: And just in general, the odds that they're going to
- 1:03:30Speaker 10: fill every single hole that this team has in one
- 1:03:32Speaker 10: offseason is our slim.
- 1:03:34Speaker 8: Now.
- 1:03:34Speaker 4: This is like people like, right now, the Red Sox
- 1:03:36Speaker 4: are under fire.
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: So they've done nothing the whole offseason and people like
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: they had a chance to get this, they could have
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: redone the whole rotate. Well, they need to sign like
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: one guy. The Patriots like this is a process you
- 1:03:49Speaker 3: need to find a receiver before you worry about all
- 1:03:53Speaker 3: of the receivers and then all of the tackles and
- 1:03:55Speaker 3: the quarterback. If they get a quarterback out of the
- 1:03:57Speaker 3: draft at three, and you know a receiver who can
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: be part like. The receiver doesn't have to be commensurate
- 1:04:04Speaker 3: with Marvin Harrison for it to be a success. Right,
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: you can get a number one guy later because you
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: picked you can only pick one guy at three.
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: And as far as developing, I mean, William's right, they
- 1:04:15Speaker 2: haven't had a very good track record. But I would
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: say that the people that are here now would say
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: give us a chance.
- 1:04:22Speaker 4: Saying people though that's the only problem.
- 1:04:24Speaker 7: The coach is not coaching wide receiver.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: Yeah no, I mean I'm talking about the people that
- 1:04:29Speaker 2: are going to be working with the receivers, you know.
- 1:04:32Speaker 10: The offensive system, the people developing the receivers, and even
- 1:04:36Speaker 10: the people picking the receivers to an extent.
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: I mean, I don't know how much Elliott.
- 1:04:40Speaker 10: I'm not sure how much of us, say Elliot Wolf
- 1:04:42Speaker 10: had in Taekwon Thor and I know how much of
- 1:04:44Speaker 10: a say mac Row had and and or at least publicly, but.
- 1:04:48Speaker 4: Who knows what I think.
- 1:04:52Speaker 6: To his chagrin.
- 1:04:55Speaker 10: I think with Elliott Wolf, though it intrigues me, is
- 1:04:57Speaker 10: that the Packers have a very good history of drafting
- 1:05:00Speaker 10: receivers and that seems to be the grading skill that
- 1:05:03Speaker 10: they're emulating. So I feel good about that. And the
- 1:05:07Speaker 10: Packers draft all their receivers on Day two. They don't
- 1:05:09Speaker 10: draft any guys in the first round, So I think
- 1:05:12Speaker 10: for those reasons, you do feel a little bit intrigued
- 1:05:14Speaker 10: about Disney regime being better at.
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: It Ford's and Savannah Georgia. He says, I want Drake
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: May over Jadon Daniels because of the postseason woes of
- 1:05:23Speaker 2: the run first quarterback. The two greatest run first quarterbacks,
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: Michael Vick and Lamar Jackson, made it to zero championships.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: The only run first quarterback who even made it was
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: Cam Newton. He got bashed to bits along the way
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: and never was the same after that year. In the postseason,
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: when defenders sell out their bodies and are out for blood,
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: the running quarterback is at a huge disadvantage called human frailty.
- 1:05:47Speaker 2: I know having Lamar Jackson would have been a massive
- 1:05:50Speaker 2: upgrade to what we've had over the past for years,
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: but big picture, i'd much rather have a Justin Herbert
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: or Josh Allen type.
- 1:05:58Speaker 4: Isn't that extremely misleading?
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: What's that? Jackson doesn't really run first anymore?
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: No?
- 1:06:05Speaker 4: But how many run first quarterbacks are there?
- 1:06:08Speaker 8: Not a lot? Right?
- 1:06:09Speaker 3: So doesn't that make it really misleading to say, like, well,
- 1:06:12Speaker 3: Lamar Jackson never won it all? Yeah, and Cam Newton
- 1:06:14Speaker 3: never won it all. Okay, you'ranna Jackson's never won it
- 1:06:17Speaker 3: all yet Michael Vick never won it all. You're right,
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: there's three who else?
- 1:06:22Speaker 6: And it's ultimately just the final frontier for quarterbacks, Like
- 1:06:25Speaker 6: you know, that's that's the ultimate piece if you have
- 1:06:27Speaker 6: a quarterback who can throw and run.
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: Nowadays, a lot of these guys may not be categoric,
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: Like I wouldn't ever characterize Patrick Mahomes's run first, right, No,
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: but he's that kind of a runner and he's won
- 1:06:40Speaker 3: three Yeah, did you see something?
- 1:06:41Speaker 2: Josh Allen isn't a run first.
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: Guy, but people would argue, people would argue he's never
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: won anything.
- 1:06:48Speaker 6: The NFL did a great job, though. Patrick Mahomes was like,
- 1:06:50Speaker 6: you know, please don't show my forty times and then
- 1:06:52Speaker 6: they were just like every big fat slob who ran
- 1:06:54Speaker 6: faster than him. They were like, you know, doing that
- 1:06:57Speaker 6: thing where they do the lineup, This is a pretty
- 1:06:58Speaker 6: funny good job NFL.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: He could run faster if you just ran straight watching Brady.
- 1:07:02Speaker 7: That was the first time I'd seen Brady's forty and
- 1:07:04Speaker 7: I was in shops.
- 1:07:05Speaker 4: Really, oh, I've seen that milk.
- 1:07:07Speaker 3: I was in sho Brady. That's a generation that's a
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: generation gap, right, Yeah, it's literally picture.
- 1:07:14Speaker 10: The shirt off that one that I'm scary all that
- 1:07:17Speaker 10: way too many times.
- 1:07:18Speaker 7: It's it's just been like when Mahomes had his shirt off.
- 1:07:21Speaker 7: I was like, that's not what you expected for him.
- 1:07:23Speaker 7: But then you think about it, like if you look
- 1:07:24Speaker 7: about back at Tom Brady, You're like, it's the same.
- 1:07:28Speaker 2: Maybe they do this already, but I don't think they do.
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: Why not at the combine instead of the forty? You
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: can still do the forty, but in addition to the
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: forty time the routes.
- 1:07:38Speaker 10: They do, they do that they do now it's been
- 1:07:40Speaker 10: a new last couple of years, so this was a
- 1:07:43Speaker 10: big I get into the nuances here. So Keon Coleman
- 1:07:46Speaker 10: from Florida State ran like a four to six bombed
- 1:07:49Speaker 10: the forty yard dash, but then he went through the gauntlet,
- 1:07:52Speaker 10: and he was the fastest receiver through the gauntlet. He
- 1:07:54Speaker 10: hit like twenty one miles an hour going through the
- 1:07:56Speaker 10: gauntlet drills. So this is a whole you know place
- 1:08:00Speaker 10: versus after you were out on him. Well, I've been
- 1:08:03Speaker 10: out on him since watching.
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: I don't really love that kind of a player. Yeah,
- 1:08:06Speaker 3: so I haven't really pushed back, and it's not a
- 1:08:08Speaker 3: Rishi rice. I'm not willing to push back on that one.
- 1:08:12Speaker 3: But I just was curious if you had seen so. Yeah.
- 1:08:14Speaker 10: So it's funny because I tweeted that I was out
- 1:08:16Speaker 10: on Keon Coleman. Assuming people that follow me and listen
- 1:08:19Speaker 10: to our shows and stuff know that I've been out
- 1:08:21Speaker 10: on Keon Coleman, and everybody is like, oh, You're only
- 1:08:25Speaker 10: out on him because he's slow in the forty Here
- 1:08:26Speaker 10: are the ten guys that were also slow, And I'm like, no,
- 1:08:29Speaker 10: here we go. He's not a route runner. It's just
- 1:08:31Speaker 10: not my type of skill set.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: I'd like to like to me, that's felt like measuring
- 1:08:36Speaker 2: the speed of the route and the precision of the route,
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: like is he rounding off the corners, is he making
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: his break at the right time? Is he you know,
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: getting to the spot. You know, that to me is
- 1:08:46Speaker 2: more important, Like Jerry Rice wasn't a burner, but he's
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: the greatest receiver of all time.
- 1:08:51Speaker 4: I think the forty.
- 1:08:52Speaker 10: The biggest thing that helps with the forty is just
- 1:08:55Speaker 10: confirming what you think you're seeing with your eyes on film.
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: So yeah, so in addition to that, you know.
- 1:09:00Speaker 10: You know, for example, like a guy you know, we're
- 1:09:02Speaker 10: just mentioned Xavier Leget, Xavier Lagette looks fast on film,
- 1:09:06Speaker 10: and then he ran a four to three nine, So
- 1:09:08Speaker 10: now I can say he's fast, Like, we don't have
- 1:09:10Speaker 10: to Xavier worthy fast, Like you don't have to you have,
- 1:09:13Speaker 10: you know, confirmation of what you were seeing.
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: What if he looked fast on film and he didn't
- 1:09:17Speaker 2: run good for.
- 1:09:18Speaker 4: It, then you have to go back to the film,
- 1:09:20Speaker 4: go back to the.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: But like you will probably write the first time, like
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: maybe he's a fast receiver because he's efficient because he
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: runs a good route, you know.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: But then you have to start looking at the film
- 1:09:32Speaker 3: closer and say, you know, are they scheming him open?
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: Is it?
- 1:09:35Speaker 4: Is he looking faster on film? Or you can match
- 1:09:38Speaker 4: up against right, you know, is he playing against Sonny's
- 1:09:41Speaker 4: car wash? All Stars yea, correct, you know.
- 1:09:43Speaker 6: I mean they are the all Stars.
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: These are the things you have to find. Did you
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: see someone actually found a Sonny's car watch? Yeah, have
- 1:09:49Speaker 3: all Stars Twitter.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: Car wash and the guy in front of it's got
- 1:09:55Speaker 2: his pants halfway.
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: I try to tell people that that's based on a
- 1:09:58Speaker 3: real car wash.
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: My guy, who's your guy?
- 1:10:04Speaker 8: A lot?
- 1:10:05Speaker 4: Yeah, you missed on him. Uh, I'm not out. But
- 1:10:09Speaker 4: he is small.
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: He is small.
- 1:10:11Speaker 2: I don't care.
- 1:10:12Speaker 4: He's small and his frame is small.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: But when you say small, what do you mean like
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: five to nine?
- 1:10:16Speaker 7: No?
- 1:10:16Speaker 4: No, no, no, he's like one hundreds.
- 1:10:18Speaker 7: Okay, but he's small. But in regards to all the
- 1:10:20Speaker 7: things that you were mentioning about route running and all
- 1:10:22Speaker 7: that stuff, he's really good at that.
- 1:10:23Speaker 4: He's excellent.
- 1:10:24Speaker 10: But he's had an injury history at Georgia five years
- 1:10:27Speaker 10: and he really doesn't have any great production because of
- 1:10:31Speaker 10: said injury history. And he's got a small frame.
- 1:10:34Speaker 7: What did the medical say about his injury?
- 1:10:36Speaker 10: I think he's fine now, I mean he tested and everything,
- 1:10:39Speaker 10: But I just in terms of withstanding it, especially if
- 1:10:42Speaker 10: he's going to play so much in the middle of
- 1:10:44Speaker 10: the field is where I would expect him.
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: He's going to be like a Day two with the latest.
- 1:10:48Speaker 3: Some people think he could sneak into the end of
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: the first round.
- 1:10:50Speaker 10: Yeah, especially a team like Kansas City there at the end.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: You remember who knew about him?
- 1:10:53Speaker 6: Well, I was just gonna say, first of all, I
- 1:10:55Speaker 6: probably knew about him ten years.
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: He's in middle school in football.
- 1:11:00Speaker 11: No, he does. That's what I's gonna say. When I
- 1:11:01Speaker 11: first said, Fred, say that name.
- 1:11:03Speaker 6: Fred is literally making this up to be like a
- 1:11:05Speaker 6: white slot receiver name, Like it's like ladd of a
- 1:11:07Speaker 6: conky like.
- 1:11:09Speaker 4: I don't think he's just that, he's really not. No,
- 1:11:12Speaker 4: that was I mean I'm saying with Fred brought it
- 1:11:14Speaker 4: up type No he.
- 1:11:16Speaker 2: Cant but no, but he would go along to you can.
- 1:11:21Speaker 4: Go along out of the slot. Christian Kirk made a career.
- 1:11:24Speaker 2: Out of it.
- 1:11:24Speaker 10: I think Laddi McConkie can play on the boundary and
- 1:11:28Speaker 10: and play outside. I think you can run vertical routes
- 1:11:31Speaker 10: on the outside because he's his best trade is his
- 1:11:34Speaker 10: start stop.
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: I love he can stop on a dime.
- 1:11:36Speaker 8: Just for the show.
- 1:11:37Speaker 4: I'd love to argue with you and tell you how much.
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: Because I think because I think he ran a four
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: to six right or something like McCay. Oh no, he
- 1:11:46Speaker 2: was a four to three nine.
- 1:11:47Speaker 4: Yeah, really athletic. That's why I can't make fun of
- 1:11:50Speaker 4: you is that he can.
- 1:11:53Speaker 10: He can burst off the line of scrimmage and then
- 1:11:55Speaker 10: he gets the corner to have to respect the vertical
- 1:11:58Speaker 10: route and then he just cuts it off on a dime.
- 1:12:00Speaker 4: Right.
- 1:12:00Speaker 10: He's really good at He's going to be more of
- 1:12:02Speaker 10: like an intermediate guy, like a move the chance guy,
- 1:12:04Speaker 10: but he's really good.
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: And you know, like in the NFL especially, that quickness
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: is so much more important than it is in college
- 1:12:12Speaker 2: because everyone's fast, and but you got to get that step,
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: You got to get NFL open, and that quickness allows
- 1:12:18Speaker 2: you to do that provided you have a quarterback who
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: is on time.
- 1:12:22Speaker 6: Yeah, you know, and he understands how to get open
- 1:12:24Speaker 6: to It's not just the skill set of like stopping
- 1:12:26Speaker 6: starting in the dime, it's he he understands how to
- 1:12:28Speaker 6: set routes up. And I mean just watching some of them, mean,
- 1:12:31Speaker 6: you guys are down there at the Senior Bowl, but
- 1:12:32Speaker 6: even just watching him on TV, it's like, you know,
- 1:12:34Speaker 6: it's it's it's pretty cool watching how he does it.
- 1:12:36Speaker 7: Literally all the corners, all the corners that he faced
- 1:12:39Speaker 7: at the senior they all voted him like, yeah, number one,
- 1:12:43Speaker 7: like to go against.
- 1:12:44Speaker 2: Because he's tough. He's hard to stay with.
- 1:12:46Speaker 10: I just worry about durability, Yeah, and not not in
- 1:12:49Speaker 10: the second So small guys, I know everybody says, no,
- 1:12:51Speaker 10: it's good to be small and shifting.
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: That's the you know, that's why Hunter Renfro is on
- 1:12:55Speaker 3: the verge of being out of the leak.
- 1:12:57Speaker 4: Yeah, like I wouldn't my at thirty four. It's totally.
- 1:13:00Speaker 10: But if I'm a team at the end of the
- 1:13:01Speaker 10: first round, I think a first round pick is a
- 1:13:03Speaker 10: little bit much on a guy like that.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: Danny and Chicago big fan of the show was just
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: curious on the level of arm strength Jayden Daniels has
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: in terms of putting the ball into tight windows rather
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: than how far the ball goes. Is it more on
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: the weaker side like Mac or is it just an
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: adequate arm in comparison to everyone else in the league.
- 1:13:20Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm surprised how much of talk about his arm
- 1:13:25Speaker 10: talent there is, because no, he does not have a
- 1:13:29Speaker 10: huge arm like he's you know, guys like a Drake
- 1:13:32Speaker 10: may Or are gonna beat him in terms of like
- 1:13:34Speaker 10: miles per hour on the gun and stuff like that.
- 1:13:36Speaker 10: But when I watched him, I wasn't overly concerned, like
- 1:13:39Speaker 10: this guy's not gonna be able to make the throws
- 1:13:41Speaker 10: in the NFL. And he's mobile. So that adds an
- 1:13:45Speaker 10: element too that Mac doesn't have. I think a lot
- 1:13:47Speaker 10: of people have Mac PTSD that they're gonna have a
- 1:13:50Speaker 10: soft thrower. But when you're a little bit of a
- 1:13:52Speaker 10: softer thrower and then you run a four to three,
- 1:13:54Speaker 10: it's like not as big of a deal because you
- 1:13:56Speaker 10: can add so much of other stuff with your mobility.
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: So my wife likes the Notre Dame quarterback get drafted
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: really really Yeah.
- 1:14:07Speaker 6: Yeah, he's hands he I mean a kid from wake.
- 1:14:12Speaker 3: Forest, Notre Dame. Yeah, from for first, he looks like
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: grizzly as everybody.
- 1:14:21Speaker 11: Everybody's got a type Paul.
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: As soon as mine. As soon as he ran.
- 1:14:26Speaker 3: Along the lines of Jimmy and Brady, the traditional good looks.
- 1:14:31Speaker 7: As soon as he ran the forty, I was like,
- 1:14:33Speaker 7: that's we clipped in all over the just his hair.
- 1:14:36Speaker 10: We have a little bit of breaking. There is not patriots,
- 1:14:38Speaker 10: but patriots adjacent. Uh Dalton Shoultz back to the Texans
- 1:14:43Speaker 10: three year, thirty six million dollar deals. One tight end
- 1:14:46Speaker 10: off the market, Antoine Wakefield Junior tagged Justin Madebuque with
- 1:14:50Speaker 10: the Ravens tagged So you got some so not Pittman
- 1:14:53Speaker 10: huh not yet but yeah.
- 1:14:55Speaker 7: No we're out in Sam Hartman.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: Sorry, okay, seventh round.
- 1:14:59Speaker 7: You you might you might have a future in being
- 1:15:01Speaker 7: an abercomie model though.
- 1:15:02Speaker 6: I mean, I came in this morning.
- 1:15:03Speaker 4: I got to give this another look.
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: Well, because I trust Nikki.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: He's closer to Fabian's just coming from Penmara is pulling
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: the pictures up there.
- 1:15:13Speaker 6: He's got he's got a shave, and it's.
- 1:15:16Speaker 3: It's not to say the long mane.
- 1:15:19Speaker 4: With the with the please look at his photo from Forrest.
- 1:15:23Speaker 4: Totally different guys.
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: Oh yeah, okay, no, he's well, but I try.
- 1:15:26Speaker 3: I trust I trust Nikky.
- 1:15:28Speaker 4: She has great taste in most things except men, right.
- 1:15:31Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean at the Senior Bowl there were girls
- 1:15:34Speaker 7: coming up to him to take photos.
- 1:15:36Speaker 11: Not because you know what that's like. I know what
- 1:15:39Speaker 11: that's like.
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: I do I shouldn't say. I shouldn't say I do.
- 1:15:43Speaker 7: I did, And allegedly he puts nothing in his hair,
- 1:15:47Speaker 7: like nothing that I.
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: Just hate him that I believe have you ever to steal?
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: What do you put in your hair?
- 1:15:55Speaker 2: What do you use any product?
- 1:15:58Speaker 6: There's that we we were talking about making. We should
- 1:15:59Speaker 6: make video like a TikTok of like the ten cliches
- 1:16:04Speaker 6: of the combine, which is, you know, have you everb
- 1:16:06Speaker 6: the Steelers? There's always that guy who just watched on,
- 1:16:08Speaker 6: But there's also the guys that don't even like look
- 1:16:10Speaker 6: at the person. They just hold their phone up and
- 1:16:12Speaker 6: they're like, what is your favorite hype song before you
- 1:16:14Speaker 6: go a game? And they just stare there and it's
- 1:16:16Speaker 6: like it's so awkward and like even this year, and
- 1:16:19Speaker 6: I usually, you know, defend my my blogger brothers, but
- 1:16:22Speaker 6: they're letting everybody in. I mean, I think you guys
- 1:16:24Speaker 6: probably saw.
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: Now he's a real guest. It's gotten bad.
- 1:16:29Speaker 11: But like the like the Caleb Williams is like, I know, right, but.
- 1:16:34Speaker 6: Some of them are just so unprofessional. And I mean
- 1:16:36Speaker 6: the guy who was like flexing on his Caleb Williams
- 1:16:39Speaker 6: question where he's like, you know, right off, like Caleb,
- 1:16:41Speaker 6: it's just you know, shouting it out like it's like
- 1:16:43Speaker 6: the nineteen thirties and you know he's on Deadline.
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: There was just some real juice, Caleb.
- 1:16:47Speaker 6: There were just some really really you know, just unprofessional
- 1:16:50Speaker 6: people that I mean. And then there were other people
- 1:16:52Speaker 6: talking about it too, that like they got to have
- 1:16:53Speaker 6: some kind of system here where it just feels like,
- 1:16:55Speaker 6: you know that that there's gotta be a level of
- 1:16:57Speaker 6: like professionalism that.
- 1:16:59Speaker 7: You're anybody who had a blog was in there.
- 1:17:02Speaker 10: I couldn't agree more. I hate to like Big Jay anybody,
- 1:17:05Speaker 10: but well, there has to be a line of like, oh,
- 1:17:08Speaker 10: you know where these people are coming.
- 1:17:10Speaker 6: Right, But I mean he was definitely there, but I
- 1:17:14Speaker 6: mean in artifase, like I wouldn't have gone in there
- 1:17:16Speaker 6: and just tried to make a ruckus to get a
- 1:17:18Speaker 6: name for myself. You know, I would be there to
- 1:17:20Speaker 6: do work and ask real questions that I want to know.
- 1:17:22Speaker 6: Not all right, everybody look at me. I'm going to
- 1:17:25Speaker 6: ask this ridiculous question and try to try to put
- 1:17:27Speaker 6: the spotlight on myself like that stuff just shouldn't fly.
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: Yeah, there we go.
- 1:17:30Speaker 6: Deuces Rant of the day, brought to you by but light,
- 1:17:34Speaker 6: easy to drink, easy to like.
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: The irony of Deuce being very anti Yeah, you know
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: the other thing that happens at the STUF. In all seriousness,
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: there's a ton of college people at the combin.
- 1:17:48Speaker 6: Too right to feature their colleges right t get out.
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: They're pumping up their kids, and I and I do
- 1:17:54Speaker 3: wonder Fred if it might be time for that. Yeah,
- 1:17:57Speaker 3: like no, like I understand what they're doing. But like
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: you did right to steal your phrase. You did have
- 1:18:02Speaker 3: your four through three years four years minimum of three
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: with these kids more likely.
- 1:18:07Speaker 7: It's funny that you bring that up because Roman Wilson,
- 1:18:09Speaker 7: his first question at the podium was like, who's a
- 1:18:12Speaker 7: guy at Michigan that we should be on the lookout
- 1:18:14Speaker 7: for next year that's going to be here?
- 1:18:15Speaker 6: Oh yeah, I think that guy got one.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: That guy got one of my But you had a
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: chance to ask that question to all all.
- 1:18:21Speaker 4: Of your players.
- 1:18:22Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, like you do not You shouldn't be wasting
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: time with the con you know what I mean time?
- 1:18:26Speaker 10: You know, I was talking to U, trying to talk
- 1:18:29Speaker 10: to Christian Jones, the tackle from Texas who I thought
- 1:18:31Speaker 10: was really good at the Senior Bowl. And these two
- 1:18:34Speaker 10: guys were Texas reporters, you know, beat reporters, and they
- 1:18:38Speaker 10: clearly knew Christian Jones because he was talking to them
- 1:18:40Speaker 10: like he you know, he knew them, and they just
- 1:18:42Speaker 10: kept on on asking question after question after question about Texas,
- 1:18:46Speaker 10: about the program and about Sark and about this, and
- 1:18:49Speaker 10: I'm like people were trying to learn about these guys.
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: For the draft point.
- 1:18:53Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, that's not my bigger gripe is what
- 1:18:55Speaker 10: d was brought up, though it got bad.
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: I don't know you guys missed it. But uh, Paul
- 1:19:00Speaker 2: All was on a college trip and he got stopped
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: in Virginia for speeding.
- 1:19:05Speaker 11: So, Viginia, did you get away?
- 1:19:07Speaker 6: Did you show a little leg and then you got
- 1:19:09Speaker 6: out of it?
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: So that's the whole thing now, Like you know, I.
- 1:19:13Speaker 11: Don't think there'll be a ticket today.
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: Boys, you know, was it reckless driving or not?
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: And is there a Lawrenceville?
- 1:19:19Speaker 2: But Ed says Ed from Virginia, Paul says, tell Paul
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: that twenty miles over the post of speed limit is
- 1:19:25Speaker 2: considered reckless driving in Virginia. Eighty five and a seventy
- 1:19:28Speaker 2: is not reckless, whereas the person who stated they received
- 1:19:31Speaker 2: reckless for going eighty two was likely in a fifty
- 1:19:34Speaker 2: five or sixty minths.
- 1:19:35Speaker 7: No, that's incorrect. From the Virginia early in Virginia. No
- 1:19:39Speaker 7: matter if the speed limit is seventy, if you hit eighty,
- 1:19:42Speaker 7: which is just ten miles over, it's automatically reckless.
- 1:19:44Speaker 4: Okay, eighty period is reckless.
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: The deputy who pulled me over said that he's putting
- 1:19:50Speaker 3: me down for eighty five so it will not be
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: considered reckless. Wow, that's what he said, you were doing.
- 1:19:56Speaker 6: You were almost ninety.
- 1:19:58Speaker 4: I wasn't.
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: But I'm in Virginia, you and I'm not looking to
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: go to jail with my family in the car.
- 1:20:03Speaker 4: I was tendant to my cousin. You know what I
- 1:20:07Speaker 4: wanted to do, Fred, You know me, You know me
- 1:20:09Speaker 4: well enough, you know what I wanted.
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: Telling the story. Oh, Fred, I was tenant too, yes, sir, yesterday.
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: But then it's like you're going eighty five. No I wasn't.
- 1:20:17Speaker 4: No, No, not like that, not like that.
- 1:20:19Speaker 8: It was.
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: But the more he talked about it, like by Andy
- 1:20:22Speaker 2: spreading outside.
- 1:20:23Speaker 3: The car, and and that was my fear. I shot
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: the clerk, right, that was that was.
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: My I didn't say anything, Fred, No, I wasn't.
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: No, he said. When he came over and he goes,
- 1:20:36Speaker 4: you know why I stopped you?
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: I said, I I think I was going maybe a
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: little too fast, and he said, yeah, he had you
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: at ninety two, and I literally have my and I went, no,
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: I wasn't like that. And then he was like, oh, well,
- 1:20:50Speaker 3: you know, and then he said, yeah, no, that's what
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: I had you. And if I was like in Massachusetts,
- 1:20:58Speaker 3: I would have said, I want to see the reading,
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: and now here we go, Paul's gonna go all yeah,
- 1:21:03Speaker 3: but I'm on the side of the road in Virginia,
- 1:21:05Speaker 3: I ain't doing that.
- 1:21:07Speaker 4: I ain't getting put in jail.
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: So I just said okay, and then I said there
- 1:21:12Speaker 3: were a lot of guys flying by me in the
- 1:21:14Speaker 3: left lane, and he claimed that I moved lanes when
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: I passed him.
- 1:21:19Speaker 6: What they got you a technicality.
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: It feels like there was more conversation than ten and two, Yes, sir.
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: A mile an hours, yes, Evan. If I was going
- 1:21:29Speaker 3: eighty two, I'd be surprised, literally, I'd be surprised.
- 1:21:33Speaker 4: If I asked for the reading before it didn't.
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: I would have asked for the reading if I was
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: in Massachusetts, and I would have rolled the dice. But
- 1:21:39Speaker 3: I wasn't doing that with Deputy Dog, and I didn't
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: I didn't want to end up, I paid the fine,
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: it's over, it's done with. But they were not lying
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: about the solicitations from attorneys to get out of it.
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: I got eleven different letters in the mail from Virginia
- 1:21:57Speaker 3: all the way up in attorneys. They must be they.
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: Must go right right on the database.
- 1:22:03Speaker 11: Boom boom.
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: Yeah, state.
- 1:22:06Speaker 4: Of course I'm gonna. I don't know yet, but I'm
- 1:22:08Speaker 4: going to.
- 1:22:08Speaker 7: I'm really jealous. And now reckless is eighty five because
- 1:22:11Speaker 7: I literally probably got multiple tickets for going eighty in
- 1:22:13Speaker 7: a seventy and that was considered reckless just ten over.
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: So your your insurance is like.
- 1:22:20Speaker 7: Oh no, now it's great. Because I had to go
- 1:22:21Speaker 7: to driving school to get him like.
- 1:22:23Speaker 3: To disappear, you know, you know I was.
- 1:22:26Speaker 2: That was when I was like sixteen seven.
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: The best guy to do that that rode in was
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: he said he was like me. I think he was
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: from Connecticut and he said he was down and he
- 1:22:35Speaker 3: got pulled over same kind of thing, eighty something in
- 1:22:38Speaker 3: the seventy and he had his court hearing.
- 1:22:41Speaker 4: My court hearing was like in April. At some point.
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: Obviously I'm not going down. I want to say, Lawrenceville.
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: I don't know why that's sticking out to me. I'm
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: not going down there, you know, to appear in court,
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: and he goes. I had a couple of friends that
- 1:22:53Speaker 3: lived in Manassas, so we made a weekend. We made
- 1:22:56Speaker 3: a weekend out of it. I drove back down there,
- 1:22:58Speaker 3: and I thought it and I wasn't. I was like,
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: I wish I could.
- 1:23:00Speaker 6: Do that when I really think if I appeared in court,
- 1:23:03Speaker 6: I'd have a very good chance to win. When I
- 1:23:05Speaker 6: lived in California and I was at my assistant jobs,
- 1:23:08Speaker 6: I did I did driving online driving school to get
- 1:23:11Speaker 6: two bosses out of tickets, like, not one, but twice.
- 1:23:14Speaker 6: I went all through drive all myself, going through all
- 1:23:16Speaker 6: the online driving school to get the you know whatever.
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: Not the point all right, back to football, good stuff,
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: Paul and the colony. Let's assume the quarterbacks go picks
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: one and two and the Patriots have identified Pennix as
- 1:23:30Speaker 2: the guy they really want. Should they trade down with
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: a plan to get him or just take him at three?
- 1:23:35Speaker 2: What could they get for that type of trade.
- 1:23:37Speaker 6: Trade down down? Yeah, trade a ways down probably. I mean,
- 1:23:41Speaker 6: you know, I don't think that doesn't really make sense
- 1:23:44Speaker 6: to me.
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: Yeah, I.
- 1:23:46Speaker 4: Would you trade down or would you take.
- 1:23:47Speaker 6: The trade down if you really wanted my COPI the.
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: Gap is between Jade and Daniels and penis.
- 1:23:55Speaker 8: Sizeable.
- 1:23:56Speaker 6: Yeah, not like I would I would do this. I
- 1:24:01Speaker 6: would like I would trade down. I would take like
- 1:24:04Speaker 6: Joe Alt, and then I would trade up to get Penix.
- 1:24:09Speaker 4: I don't it's gonna be really.
- 1:24:11Speaker 10: I know the reports came out that Pennix had a
- 1:24:13Speaker 10: clean bill health and stuff like that. I don't doubt it,
- 1:24:16Speaker 10: but I doubt that that changes much about how you
- 1:24:20Speaker 10: look at his durability. Like, yeah, okay, so he doesn't
- 1:24:22Speaker 10: have any pre existing conditions coming into the league, that's great,
- 1:24:26Speaker 10: but he's still got four season ending injuries in college,
- 1:24:29Speaker 10: so that's still teams are still going to hold out
- 1:24:31Speaker 10: of that screams. Second round pick, to me is the
- 1:24:34Speaker 10: point where probably first round tape, but a guy that
- 1:24:38Speaker 10: has some concerns and flags that you knock him into
- 1:24:40Speaker 10: the second round.
- 1:24:43Speaker 4: It might be the best passer in the draft, like
- 1:24:46Speaker 4: he might be, I believe.
- 1:24:50Speaker 3: Instead of just saying past I'll say he's the best
- 1:24:53Speaker 3: thrower of the football.
- 1:24:55Speaker 4: He can spin it, that's for sure.
- 1:24:57Speaker 2: And Maryland try not to laugh at me too. Loudly
- 1:25:01Speaker 2: for this. The Broncos just dumped Wilson and need a quarterback.
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: They are also about fifteen million over the cap. How
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: possible would it be to center a trade around mac
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: Jones for Courtland Sutton? We would obviously gain a wide
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: receiver while Denver gets a pseudo experienced quarterback while knocking
- 1:25:16Speaker 2: off about ten million off that cap number.
- 1:25:20Speaker 6: That's fine. I don't know. I mean, I just Courtland
- 1:25:22Speaker 6: Sutton's fine.
- 1:25:23Speaker 4: I'm sorry, what fine?
- 1:25:25Speaker 8: I mean?
- 1:25:25Speaker 4: Do you think you can get Courtland Sutton for mac Jones?
- 1:25:27Speaker 6: Playing along? I'm playing along the Patriot?
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: He said not to laugh, so I didn't laugh.
- 1:25:33Speaker 6: I'm sorry I didn't.
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: But you, I mean, you think on there's a world
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: that you could get. People are saying maybe a conditional
- 1:25:39Speaker 3: sixth round pick you could get. I meant Cortland Sutton,
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: you could get mac Jones. I wasn't.
- 1:25:44Speaker 6: I wasn't answering that. I was just answering what I
- 1:25:46Speaker 6: want Courtland Suton for Macon?
- 1:25:47Speaker 7: Give them mac Jones and Juju.
- 1:25:49Speaker 10: No, that would make that would make it worse.
- 1:25:52Speaker 6: Attacking Jackson signed.
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: Jackson's a good player.
- 1:25:58Speaker 4: I have no one to throw in.
- 1:25:59Speaker 3: The ball he's pretty good.
- 1:26:00Speaker 4: I would let's take him. Yeah, I don't.
- 1:26:03Speaker 10: I mean mac Jones and a pick to Denver for
- 1:26:08Speaker 10: Courtland Sutton is possible.
- 1:26:09Speaker 3: Whatever the pick is that you'd have to trade for
- 1:26:11Speaker 3: Courtland Sutton and mac Jones would get that job that done.
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: So if you if it would cast you a third
- 1:26:16Speaker 3: round pick to get Courtland Sutton, is that what you're saying?
- 1:26:19Speaker 4: Maybe four?
- 1:26:20Speaker 10: I would say that maybe if they really, if assuming
- 1:26:24Speaker 10: not laughing at the email, that Denver likes mac Jones,
- 1:26:31Speaker 10: which is I get a bout assumption, But assuming that
- 1:26:35Speaker 10: they like mac Jones, maybe Courtland Sutton was worth a
- 1:26:39Speaker 10: third round pick is now a fourth round pick plus
- 1:26:42Speaker 10: mac Jones.
- 1:26:43Speaker 3: That's that's what I'm saying, because.
- 1:26:45Speaker 10: It's really valuing it as like a fourth and a sixth,
- 1:26:48Speaker 10: you know, for for Courtland Sutton, that deal I think
- 1:26:52Speaker 10: would be in the realm of possibility. Attacking juju on
- 1:26:56Speaker 10: it makes it worse for the Patriots, not better, So
- 1:27:00Speaker 10: that I don't think is gonna happen, But in.
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: All seriousness it does because of the contract, right, Like
- 1:27:05Speaker 3: I know what we're not making it out to be
- 1:27:07Speaker 3: as like caut you such a bad player, but it's
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: low production with a big contract. In order to get
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: rid of Juju, I think they're gonna they would have
- 1:27:15Speaker 3: to tackle pick on to Juju to get you to
- 1:27:17Speaker 3: take the scenarios.
- 1:27:19Speaker 4: Yes, that we can get rid of that.
- 1:27:21Speaker 10: Just trade them with an asset or eat the Yeah post,
- 1:27:26Speaker 10: I'm glad that you said that, because that's the answer.
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: Like if you learned nothing yesterday. Eighty five million dollars right,
- 1:27:38Speaker 3: dead cap. Please do yourself a favor and stop being
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: concerned about dead money in the salary cap. In general,
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: it's about real money and what you have to pay guys.
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: That's always going to matter as long as there are
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: human beings writing the checks. But in terms of getting
- 1:27:59Speaker 3: out from beat contracts by dead money, eighty five million dollars, how.
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: Will this new the broncos?
- 1:28:09Speaker 4: I mean it will affect the broncos.
- 1:28:11Speaker 3: I mean not amount of money. It's absolutely going to
- 1:28:14Speaker 3: affect him. But what I'm saying is it's not a
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: deal breaker when the guy needs to go, yeah, you
- 1:28:20Speaker 3: gotta play perfect. This is nothing like that. But we're
- 1:28:23Speaker 3: talking about with Juju smash, so you're talking to nothing.
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: Kareem says Lad McConkie. Sounds like Chris Hogan. If McConkie
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: also has the superpower of invisibility to defenses, then he would.
- 1:28:36Speaker 10: Be a great I mean, I watched a little better
- 1:28:38Speaker 10: player than Chris Hogan. Mike and I watched a little
- 1:28:41Speaker 10: dynasty today. Was invisibility is?
- 1:28:46Speaker 3: Yeah? There was one catch out of the They showed
- 1:28:48Speaker 3: probably four or five catches that he made.
- 1:28:50Speaker 4: In one of them, he had a guy covering him.
- 1:28:52Speaker 4: One of the Super Bowl.
- 1:28:53Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: Another uh Russell Wilson related email. Uh, let's see they're
- 1:29:00Speaker 2: going to be released by the So no need to
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: trade any draft picks. Any word on what money he's
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: asking for. Is he taking a discount to rebuild his reputation?
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: Delusional likes no.
- 1:29:13Speaker 10: So it behooves him to take the minimum because it
- 1:29:17Speaker 10: has offset, so he's going to get paid more. Actually,
- 1:29:21Speaker 10: if he takes the minimum and takes the money from Denver,
- 1:29:24Speaker 10: then if he goes out and tries to get like
- 1:29:26Speaker 10: a quarterback, you know, starting quarterback salary, that offsets the
- 1:29:29Speaker 10: Denver money, then he's gonna end up losing money. So
- 1:29:32Speaker 10: it behooves him to take a league minimum.
- 1:29:34Speaker 2: Interests No, Fridge, No.
- 1:29:39Speaker 10: I just don't too much. It's not even about his
- 1:29:42Speaker 10: play on the field.
- 1:29:45Speaker 11: Too much of a.
- 1:29:47Speaker 6: Bridge bridge, no Sagamore second bridge. I just think that
- 1:29:52Speaker 6: it's bridge falling apart.
- 1:29:55Speaker 4: We're going to ask falling down you're committed to under
- 1:30:00Speaker 4: the bridge?
- 1:30:01Speaker 3: Is startling quarter back next year?
- 1:30:03Speaker 10: Like Russell Wilson's not going anywhere without being on the
- 1:30:06Speaker 10: quarterback here every see.
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: I'd be okay with that. I know, probably Thursday we'll
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: get into it because it's getting late.
- 1:30:13Speaker 4: You know.
- 1:30:14Speaker 3: Evan and I disagree a little on the plan of attack,
- 1:30:16Speaker 3: but I don't mind letting someone be the bridge guy
- 1:30:20Speaker 3: for the year, right.
- 1:30:21Speaker 4: I just don't want it to be Russell Wilson. Me
- 1:30:23Speaker 4: too agreed.
- 1:30:23Speaker 8: I hate that idea.
- 1:30:24Speaker 3: I think he's looking to be the star still center
- 1:30:28Speaker 3: of attention, and I just don't think he's been very
- 1:30:30Speaker 3: effective for now threes going back to Seattle into two
- 1:30:34Speaker 3: years in Denver.
- 1:30:35Speaker 6: Yeah, and even if you can talk yourself into maybe
- 1:30:37Speaker 6: you can save him after three years of down play,
- 1:30:40Speaker 6: like you still have to sign up for the Russell
- 1:30:42Speaker 6: He's gonna be working out on on the airplane. And
- 1:30:45Speaker 6: if you're gonna.
- 1:30:46Speaker 10: Draft, you're not gonna probably draft somebody at three if
- 1:30:49Speaker 10: you sign up for Russell Wilson. So even if you
- 1:30:51Speaker 10: draft Pennix at thirty four, is Russell Wilson gonna mentor
- 1:30:55Speaker 10: Michael Pennix?
- 1:30:56Speaker 4: Is he gonna take him under his wing and should? No,
- 1:30:58Speaker 4: of course not.
- 1:30:59Speaker 10: He's gonna be like f you like he's Russell Wilson.
- 1:31:01Speaker 10: This is my job, you know that sort of thing.
- 1:31:04Speaker 10: Jacoby Brissett is gonna approach the job totally different than
- 1:31:07Speaker 10: somebody like Russell Wilson.
- 1:31:10Speaker 7: Wondering what to do without game day weekends. Spruce up
- 1:31:12Speaker 7: your home for festive spring brunches with Bob's latest party
- 1:31:16Speaker 7: ready seasonal dining styles. Whether you're looking for storage, pack seating,
- 1:31:20Speaker 7: expandable options, or cozy coffee tables, be sure to shop
- 1:31:23Speaker 7: Bob's Discount Furniture, the official furniture store of the New
- 1:31:27Speaker 7: England Patriots.
- 1:31:28Speaker 2: All right, Ryan in Virginia, Right Sin? I think we
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: could use a break from the twenty twenty four draft
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: talk by talking about the twenty twenty three draft. How
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: would you grade A to F scale the Patrios twenty
- 1:31:41Speaker 2: twenty three draft class based on these three points? Last season?
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: Right after the draft, how would you have graded it? I?
- 1:31:48Speaker 3: Who do they take we're talking about the whole class
- 1:31:51Speaker 3: and solid I was Chat Island City City.
- 1:31:55Speaker 4: So Jake Andrews D plus C.
- 1:31:59Speaker 6: Booty would I would say, I would say Gonzalez is
- 1:32:02Speaker 6: an A and the rest is so I give him
- 1:32:04Speaker 6: a C.
- 1:32:06Speaker 3: I would have said after the draft, Yeah, for hearing
- 1:32:09Speaker 3: about Pop Douglas, it was a good pick.
- 1:32:12Speaker 2: Before the twenty twenty three week one of the regular season,
- 1:32:15Speaker 2: any changed in that grade.
- 1:32:17Speaker 4: For you, Well, I mean a plus at that point.
- 1:32:20Speaker 2: After you saw them in camp, and.
- 1:32:22Speaker 3: I would have bumped into a C plus because of Douglas.
- 1:32:26Speaker 3: I thought he flashed a little bit in camp. Yeah,
- 1:32:27Speaker 3: that's fair. And then by the end of the season.
- 1:32:30Speaker 7: Yeah, that's why I said plus because like out and.
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: Out shouldn't get hurt because of that.
- 1:32:39Speaker 4: Healthy injury. What did you get out of your draft
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: class in the year one?
- 1:32:43Speaker 10: I think I thought we were talking about it more
- 1:32:45Speaker 10: of like looking forward. Those guys are going to contribute
- 1:32:47Speaker 10: to forward forward.
- 1:32:48Speaker 6: I'm still Gonzales and and Pop players going No.
- 1:32:53Speaker 2: But has your opinion of Gonzales gone down?
- 1:32:56Speaker 6: No?
- 1:32:56Speaker 2: No, no, So I don't think you should get hurt
- 1:32:58Speaker 2: because he got But.
- 1:32:59Speaker 3: I do agree with I think but I don't mean
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: it hasn't gone out either.
- 1:33:03Speaker 2: Okay, but if you think he's going to be an
- 1:33:05Speaker 2: a player, you still think he's going to be an
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: a player, right.
- 1:33:08Speaker 6: But you might have some injury.
- 1:33:12Speaker 2: I'm talking about him.
- 1:33:13Speaker 10: Oh, just don't just don't tackle people with your shoulders, Evan.
- 1:33:16Speaker 6: Evan slipped to me in Indian and he's like, I
- 1:33:17Speaker 6: don't even you can tell us a tackling No, I
- 1:33:19Speaker 6: don't need to cover.
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: Just just I'd like to see I mean, it'd be
- 1:33:24Speaker 3: interesting to see how they use.
- 1:33:25Speaker 2: Him this year.
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: Don't tackle anything. I'd like to see him a little
- 1:33:28Speaker 3: bit more like the traditional star cornerback, but not the
- 1:33:31Speaker 3: star position star player. Like the other team's got a
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: really good wide receiver, you're gonna just I mean, that's
- 1:33:37Speaker 3: what he did at the beginning of life. I want
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: you're doing Manda Man on the other team's stud all
- 1:33:41Speaker 3: the time? Enough of that? Yeah, really, I didn't. I
- 1:33:44Speaker 3: saw a lot of zone jack. The best play he
- 1:33:46Speaker 3: made in the three games was was a zone Miami,
- 1:33:49Speaker 3: his zone player. That was a phenomenal play that he made.
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: Jacket and Aba, how was your appraisal of Roman Wilson
- 1:33:54Speaker 2: change based on Wilson's combine.
- 1:33:56Speaker 6: Performance none at all.
- 1:33:58Speaker 8: Yeah, he's what he is.
- 1:33:59Speaker 2: You like him and and you like him now.
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: Still a good player.
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: Okay. Audrey from New Hampshire has some combine coverage critique.
- 1:34:07Speaker 6: Cool, wait, this is Audrey Audrey. Audrey's always a little
- 1:34:10Speaker 6: critical on me. I appreciate you, Audrey.
- 1:34:11Speaker 4: Thank you for the feedback. Mounds like I'm not here
- 1:34:14Speaker 4: for this.
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: I don't care.
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: You don't like being critiqued.
- 1:34:17Speaker 10: By people that like, like, if you critiqued me, I'd
- 1:34:20Speaker 10: be like, Okay, I'd listened to you.
- 1:34:22Speaker 4: But Evan has no use. Mike is very passive aggressive when.
- 1:34:25Speaker 3: It comes to critiques.
- 1:34:26Speaker 10: Yeah, but like I always, I think it's good practice.
- 1:34:32Speaker 2: I enjoyed watching and listening to all your coverage of
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: this week's Combine. Love the live video recaps and interviews
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: from Dus and Evan.
- 1:34:39Speaker 8: Okay, thank you so good. Thank you.
- 1:34:42Speaker 2: Let me share a few observations and possible improvements going forward.
- 1:34:45Speaker 3: Okay, thanks.
- 1:34:46Speaker 2: Why is Mike on hyper speed? Verbally? He definitely found
- 1:34:50Speaker 2: his counterpart in Field Yates, who also speaks in jet mode.
- 1:34:54Speaker 2: I think your brain is moving faster than possible for
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: your mouth. Great energy and intelligence, but calm down a
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: smidge for the listeners. This is funny because we know
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: Evan is probably bursting inside with information and it's cool
- 1:35:07Speaker 2: to be here and I'm talking with Elliott wolf energy.
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: Somehow he manages to remain calm verbally. Next, so so far,
- 1:35:16Speaker 2: so good, Evan.
- 1:35:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:35:19Speaker 2: Next, I know Paul was joking about the bed sheet backdrop,
- 1:35:22Speaker 2: but honestly, it did have that effect. I realized it
- 1:35:26Speaker 2: was because it wasn't tight and had wrinkles and sagging
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: on both sides. No, there used to actually be bed
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: you know it was. There was betting along those Did
- 1:35:39Speaker 2: you have the ones with all the NFL logos? I
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: did too. Yeah, it looked like a sheet pinned up
- 1:35:45Speaker 2: behind the guys in the front table edge had a
- 1:35:48Speaker 2: strange dripping effect that reminded me of Halloween and didn't match.
- 1:35:52Speaker 2: I will say that the angle of the I don't
- 1:35:55Speaker 2: know if it was the table of the angle of
- 1:35:56Speaker 2: the camera. It looked like you guys were behind a
- 1:35:59Speaker 2: wall rather than behind a table.
- 1:36:02Speaker 10: I appreciated it because it was showed less of It
- 1:36:04Speaker 10: looked like you were like less of me that you
- 1:36:06Speaker 10: can see.
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: It was almost like a pilt The show. Yeah, like
- 1:36:09Speaker 2: you had a wall in front of you instead of
- 1:36:11Speaker 2: the table.
- 1:36:11Speaker 8: I feel like we.
- 1:36:12Speaker 7: Really don't do many sitting debrief videos period.
- 1:36:15Speaker 6: We're always now they just kind of give you the
- 1:36:17Speaker 6: table and the tablecloth.
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: Yeah okay, Yeah, awesome job overall, and I'm always happy
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: to listen to my favorite group. Thanks for all you do.
- 1:36:24Speaker 6: I thanks you guys, go off to slow down.
- 1:36:28Speaker 4: Where are the critiques of me?
- 1:36:30Speaker 11: That's all it is.
- 1:36:30Speaker 6: Were just here the co's.
- 1:36:35Speaker 3: That's what I was.
- 1:36:36Speaker 4: I don't even have any pointers.
- 1:36:38Speaker 6: I don't know trying to get it.
- 1:36:39Speaker 7: I feel like you talk the same speed that you do.
- 1:36:41Speaker 4: I don't really notice.
- 1:36:42Speaker 2: I heard on ninety eight point five today, is mate.
- 1:36:46Speaker 4: I heard it.
- 1:36:47Speaker 3: That's why I went into staring through your soul because
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: that's the line that you used this morning.
- 1:36:53Speaker 4: Made me chuck.
- 1:36:53Speaker 3: What's one? Oh Alabama guys, they all look like they're
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: staring at yourself.
- 1:36:57Speaker 2: It was funny because I guess he's away this week.
- 1:36:59Speaker 4: I guess I didn't.
- 1:36:59Speaker 2: I was aware Hardy to have his guests wait wait, references.
- 1:37:04Speaker 10: To Perillo and that that hit that wasn't your mate envoye.
- 1:37:07Speaker 10: You've been on there before, he.
- 1:37:08Speaker 4: Thinks that was the first time.
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: I think, that's what Hardy says.
- 1:37:11Speaker 6: I think it was.
- 1:37:11Speaker 4: I don't know, I think, And yeah, but you dodged
- 1:37:16Speaker 4: a bullet not having Fred there.
- 1:37:17Speaker 11: Yeah, No, I was waiting for it. Who will who?
- 1:37:19Speaker 11: I didn't know who I was talking too.
- 1:37:20Speaker 6: I mean it was Joe Murray, right, was that?
- 1:37:21Speaker 3: Joe Murray, John Waller, John Wallackle.
- 1:37:23Speaker 7: No.
- 1:37:23Speaker 10: I like Fred, but you know, he always has to
- 1:37:26Speaker 10: have one thing that's like not about the topic, and
- 1:37:28Speaker 10: you're just.
- 1:37:29Speaker 11: That's not what I was bracing for.
- 1:37:31Speaker 6: And we're going through the circle of questions and I
- 1:37:33Speaker 6: first my interest was piqued because I didn't realize Hardy
- 1:37:36Speaker 6: went first, and so I was like, oh, maybe I started,
- 1:37:39Speaker 6: but I was waiting for them.
- 1:37:39Speaker 4: You didn't realize Fred wasn't there. No, I didn't.
- 1:37:41Speaker 3: So did Hardy just reach out to you?
- 1:37:43Speaker 4: So you want to come on?
- 1:37:43Speaker 6: He's just like, hey, can you pop on?
- 1:37:44Speaker 10: And yeah, like if I you know, you come on
- 1:37:47Speaker 10: after the combine are at I've done it at the
- 1:37:50Speaker 10: Combine at times too, and you know, Fred will just
- 1:37:52Speaker 10: be like so I was last night, you know, and
- 1:37:54Speaker 10: it's like, what do you want to?
- 1:37:55Speaker 6: Like?
- 1:37:55Speaker 4: What do you want me to say, I.
- 1:37:56Speaker 6: Didn't even know I would have good answer.
- 1:37:58Speaker 2: Yeah, and they also we're talking about the Channel media survey.
- 1:38:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I have some bones to pick with.
- 1:38:04Speaker 6: Oh yeah, what happened to you?
- 1:38:06Speaker 2: Well, I don't know. I don't know what happened. I
- 1:38:08Speaker 2: haven't seen it.
- 1:38:09Speaker 6: I I mean, I did see the one that we
- 1:38:11Speaker 6: were usually in, and I don't think we were in it,
- 1:38:13Speaker 6: which was still write in. Yeah, I don't think Alex
- 1:38:16Speaker 6: bar barth plasted like a twenty because they always talk
- 1:38:19Speaker 6: about it on the thread because sports, because they're flexing.
- 1:38:23Speaker 2: So usually we get written in. We didn't get written.
- 1:38:25Speaker 6: No, I don't think so. I did not see the one.
- 1:38:27Speaker 4: I haven't seen it. I saw I saw a couple
- 1:38:29Speaker 4: of So what's your bone to pick?
- 1:38:31Speaker 3: Maybe off there?
- 1:38:32Speaker 4: Oh lot?
- 1:38:33Speaker 10: Because I just don't want to sound like I'm throwing
- 1:38:35Speaker 10: throwing bows at anything.
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: Okay, all right, throwing bows No, I mean elbows.
- 1:38:41Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, I just don't want to It's gonna sound
- 1:38:44Speaker 10: salty and it's just not worth it.
- 1:38:46Speaker 3: I don't know if I love when marriages shakes.
- 1:38:50Speaker 2: Just I have to older people.
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: My kookie uncles that just don't know that's throwing bows.
- 1:38:59Speaker 2: Kyle and Pam five Patriots trivia questions for you guys.
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: The winner will get a job sticker from Fred A
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: good job sticker for your helmets. Scratch, who holds the
- 1:39:10Speaker 2: record for the longest field goal in team history?
- 1:39:14Speaker 3: Yes, you know how fifty nine sixty sixty That was
- 1:39:19Speaker 3: Mexico Elevation.
- 1:39:22Speaker 2: While Tom Brady is the winningest quarterback the Patriots have
- 1:39:25Speaker 2: ever had. Which former Patriots quarterback has holds the second
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: place spot to the goat?
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: Butosrogan Crogan is correct, so we going by wins percentage.
- 1:39:38Speaker 2: I guess wins seventy five and sixty. Ty Law has
- 1:39:42Speaker 2: thirty six career interceptions with the Patriots, tying him for
- 1:39:45Speaker 2: the first among former Patriots. Who is he tied.
- 1:39:48Speaker 4: With Mike Haynes Incorrect.
- 1:39:54Speaker 3: With the Patriots like just with the Patriots, Rodney Harrison.
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: No, Raymond Claiborne, who has recorded the most receiving yards
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: while playing for the Patriots, Stanley Morgan correct, right by
- 1:40:10Speaker 2: over ten thousand yards. And finally, which former Patriot in
- 1:40:14Speaker 2: current National Wrestling Hall of Fame member defeated brock Lessner
- 1:40:17Speaker 2: in the nineteen ninety nine NCAA dew Even Neil. That's right,
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: even I could have gotten that. All right, let's turn
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: back to the Ace ticket hut line. See who's holding
- 1:40:28Speaker 2: on for a long time. Tim's in Boston. What's up Tim?
- 1:40:33Speaker 7: Hey?
- 1:40:33Speaker 18: Everyone?
- 1:40:34Speaker 19: Obviously it's a mock draft season, but I feel like
- 1:40:36Speaker 19: I'm never too interested in them because they feel so
- 1:40:38Speaker 19: unrealistic when you have just one person picking, because there's
- 1:40:41Speaker 19: there's thirty one other gms who get paid to right. Right,
- 1:40:45Speaker 19: So here's my idea. Take a media rep for all
- 1:40:48Speaker 19: thirty two teams. I nominate Evan and do like a
- 1:40:51Speaker 19: three round mock draft.
- 1:40:52Speaker 4: We've done it many, Yeah, we've done it before, many.
- 1:40:56Speaker 19: Specifically against thirty one guys. Though, I'll take it out there.
- 1:40:59Speaker 4: I think, yeah, we've done it.
- 1:41:00Speaker 10: Okay, Yeah, we've done And there's also it's largely pretty boring. Yeah,
- 1:41:03Speaker 10: ESPN and the Athletic I've been a part of the
- 1:41:06Speaker 10: one with the Athletic one since they they'll like a
- 1:41:08Speaker 10: sign like a local beat writer to pick for the Patriots,
- 1:41:13Speaker 10: pick for the Bengals, pick for the Steelers, so on
- 1:41:15Speaker 10: and so forth, and you go through the whole first round.
- 1:41:17Speaker 10: It's hard. It's hard to pick for other teams because
- 1:41:19Speaker 10: you don't know their needs and know their their scouting
- 1:41:22Speaker 10: departments and stuff like that, like we know our own.
- 1:41:24Speaker 10: So I like those ones every once in a while.
- 1:41:28Speaker 2: Uh, Anthony, howdye Fred? You did it? You found a
- 1:41:31Speaker 2: replacement for Eric and Evan? Not since the quark Smeller
- 1:41:35Speaker 2: has a host had so little use for the opinions
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: of the fans and been so dismissive to callers and emailers.
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: Q Evan uh, saying Okay, We're done with this. Not
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: long ago, Evan was lamenting not being able to give
- 1:41:47Speaker 2: his opinion on an opinion show, but then turns around
- 1:41:50Speaker 2: and says, nobody can critique him or his football takes.
- 1:41:53Speaker 4: I can't say that now, said Fred could.
- 1:41:55Speaker 2: If only Deuce could get as irrationally mad as the
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: low t Rex, it'd be just like old time.
- 1:42:02Speaker 8: No.
- 1:42:02Speaker 10: I just said that I care about the critiques of
- 1:42:05Speaker 10: people that mattered to me, like the people in this room. Sure,
- 1:42:09Speaker 10: but the emailers know.
- 1:42:10Speaker 2: That the fans should matter to you. I think they
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: should matter.
- 1:42:13Speaker 10: Okay, See, that's a critique that I'm gonna take consideration.
- 1:42:16Speaker 6: All right, It's a whole new eave cork smeller. Like
- 1:42:21Speaker 6: who There's no one else in the world that has
- 1:42:23Speaker 6: that is like their you know, bad nickname cork smelling.
- 1:42:26Speaker 3: I don't even know what that means.
- 1:42:27Speaker 6: Hold on, don't get us started.
- 1:42:31Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a whole idea. Eldred is in North Carolina
- 1:42:36Speaker 2: giving it another shot. What's up, Eldred? Eldred?
- 1:42:43Speaker 11: You got me laughing, buddy.
- 1:42:46Speaker 18: But I'm not going to pick on you today though.
- 1:42:48Speaker 18: But after watching the combine and after a couple of days,
- 1:42:54Speaker 18: they think Penny dog d right, but J J. McCartney pout,
- 1:42:58Speaker 18: They got him going to to Denver.
- 1:43:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:43:00Speaker 3: I see one that's eight on NFL network now, and
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: I've seen another one nine on NFL networks. I assume
- 1:43:05Speaker 3: that's like Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks and those kinds
- 1:43:09Speaker 3: of people.
- 1:43:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: Yeah, he's suddenly vaulted into the It's very similar to
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: mac Jones in that regard. Mac Jones was a Day
- 1:43:16Speaker 3: two pick when the season ended, and then by the
- 1:43:20Speaker 3: time the draft process got underway, everybody talked themselves into
- 1:43:24Speaker 3: mac Jones.
- 1:43:24Speaker 10: I feel like this feels more like Zach Wilson to
- 1:43:27Speaker 10: me because just of the type of players that they are,
- 1:43:30Speaker 10: Like Matt, he has a lot Paul, you said this earlier.
- 1:43:32Speaker 10: McCarthy's a lot more talented than mac Jones was from
- 1:43:35Speaker 10: a mobility arm talent standpoint. But I think ten to
- 1:43:39Speaker 10: twenty is fair for J. J. McCarthy. It's what's crazy
- 1:43:41Speaker 10: is the people that are saying that he's, you know,
- 1:43:43Speaker 10: gonna go before jayd and.
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: Daniels and stuff like that. That is what I can't understand.
- 1:43:48Speaker 18: Yeah, one more question, Evan. Listening to your podcast, you
- 1:43:52Speaker 18: induce and y'all hit him, My boy, Jordan Travis. He
- 1:43:57Speaker 18: starts nears, don't understand, and I didn't like witty deep lord,
- 1:44:01Speaker 18: but he's a whole lot more accurate than Drake may
- 1:44:04Speaker 18: and may K throwing the rain. Look at the Climpton
- 1:44:06Speaker 18: game from from two years ago. He came throwing the ring.
- 1:44:10Speaker 15: But that's all.
- 1:44:10Speaker 18: I got a good one, all right.
- 1:44:12Speaker 3: Tell just some researcher on your Jordan Travis thing to
- 1:44:15Speaker 3: Fred And he was a Day three pick before the injury.
- 1:44:18Speaker 10: Oh yeah, he's a late round pick. He's very small,
- 1:44:21Speaker 10: little flyer, would be fine.
- 1:44:22Speaker 6: But I just I was just intrigued by him from
- 1:44:24Speaker 6: the podium. I hadn't even really watched him in all
- 1:44:26Speaker 6: before the combat. It's just one where you float by
- 1:44:28Speaker 6: these guys, and all of a sudden, the guy just hey, hey,
- 1:44:29Speaker 6: this guy seems interesting and just stop and listen to him.
- 1:44:32Speaker 6: And yeah, somebody, I'd take a flyer on it.
- 1:44:35Speaker 4: I'd rather Bazuoka Joe.
- 1:44:37Speaker 6: That's a great shot from the combine and him watching
- 1:44:39Speaker 6: that bomb and then just turn around me like boom.
- 1:44:41Speaker 10: I mean, that's that's what he was like in Mobile too.
- 1:44:44Speaker 10: After every good throw he's doing it back. I'm like,
- 1:44:47Speaker 10: this guy is great, this guy.
- 1:44:49Speaker 2: But can he play?
- 1:44:50Speaker 8: No?
- 1:44:51Speaker 4: Not really, not really?
- 1:44:52Speaker 2: Uh, Brad's in Ohio. What's up, Brad?
- 1:44:56Speaker 9: Hello?
- 1:44:57Speaker 6: How you guys?
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: Good?
- 1:45:00Speaker 9: Okay, it's good talking to you. You always have good
- 1:45:04Speaker 9: conversation and you're always so intelligent about our teams, said,
- 1:45:09Speaker 9: always good and refreshing here. So that being said, we
- 1:45:14Speaker 9: were talking, you know, last year's draft real quick. I
- 1:45:18Speaker 9: just want to touch on the fact that I thought
- 1:45:20Speaker 9: City Style was really stable piece there at right guard
- 1:45:27Speaker 9: and strong along Docker. I noticed that the gold line
- 1:45:31Speaker 9: and you know, the ballas I think is an aide
- 1:45:35Speaker 9: boss if he can stay healthy. And Douglass was a
- 1:45:39Speaker 9: decent pick. So that being said, and then when I
- 1:45:43Speaker 9: look at the draft, one thing I got to tell you, guys,
- 1:45:45Speaker 9: I'm a Michigan.
- 1:45:46Speaker 2: Fan from Ohio.
- 1:45:49Speaker 9: I know a lot of people don't like McCarthy and
- 1:45:52Speaker 9: you know, but one the things we have to understand
- 1:45:55Speaker 9: about him is he played under center most of the
- 1:45:59Speaker 9: time and he does have a very good arm and
- 1:46:04Speaker 9: an intermediate range throw in like twenty five thirty. And
- 1:46:09Speaker 9: he can't throw a great beat ball, will touch. He
- 1:46:12Speaker 9: needs to be tough at but I mean as far
- 1:46:16Speaker 9: as arm, talent, and and attitude, I don't see anyone that's.
- 1:46:23Speaker 2: So you think he should go in the first round.
- 1:46:27Speaker 2: Brid you think he could go in the first round.
- 1:46:29Speaker 9: McCarthy, I think he's a late round pick.
- 1:46:33Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:46:34Speaker 9: In my In my I would like to see Marvin
- 1:46:37Speaker 9: Harrison Junior and move up in the first round with
- 1:46:40Speaker 9: JJ McCarthy.
- 1:46:42Speaker 2: Okay, back up in that would be something.
- 1:46:45Speaker 9: Or trade back if we can't get the two tackles,
- 1:46:50Speaker 9: trade back and get a receiver and McCarthy.
- 1:46:53Speaker 2: Okay, all right, he does make I always like hearing
- 1:46:58Speaker 2: I always like hearing people who watched the guys extensively,
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: you know, besides you know Evan, but like people who
- 1:47:05Speaker 2: were there, you know, watching these games as a fan,
- 1:47:09Speaker 2: like we hear from the North Carolina people who don't
- 1:47:11Speaker 2: like Drake May, most of them, you know, for some reason,
- 1:47:14Speaker 2: and you know they're North Carolina fans vocal.
- 1:47:17Speaker 8: You know.
- 1:47:18Speaker 4: I heard from a lot of people who are in
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: love with the guy when I was.
- 1:47:20Speaker 3: There, like on the campus, Oh yeah, may right, couldn't
- 1:47:25Speaker 3: go anywhere, you know.
- 1:47:26Speaker 2: Like I've started watching I've watched four guys. I've watched Williams,
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: Jade and Daniels, and I've watched Panics, and none of
- 1:47:35Speaker 2: them are like can't miss. They've all got something, you know,
- 1:47:39Speaker 2: Like Caleb Williams is obviously the most talented quarterback of
- 1:47:43Speaker 2: the group, but all of them have something and he's like, well,
- 1:47:46Speaker 2: you know, but this and Drake May is the one
- 1:47:50Speaker 2: that has the most Like I think of all those people,
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: I think Drake May is the guy that could use
- 1:47:55Speaker 2: a year to just watch. If you had a good yeah.
- 1:47:58Speaker 3: If you had a good Josh.
- 1:48:00Speaker 2: But it's decision making, you know. And I think the
- 1:48:04Speaker 2: biggest thing, well, there's a lot of big things, but
- 1:48:06Speaker 2: one of the most important things is understanding the speed
- 1:48:10Speaker 2: of the game and figuring out if this guy is
- 1:48:13Speaker 2: going to be able to process at that speed. Because
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: that's what kills these guys. You see, we've seen them
- 1:48:19Speaker 2: all forever in training camp. You bring these rookie quarterbacks
- 1:48:22Speaker 2: in and we had Brady obviously, so nobody looks that good.
- 1:48:25Speaker 2: But it's drop back, hold the ball, can't make a decision,
- 1:48:29Speaker 2: can't make decision, you know, take off And you know
- 1:48:34Speaker 2: that's the big thing. You have to be able to
- 1:48:36Speaker 2: process in the NFL because the speed of the game
- 1:48:39Speaker 2: is so much faster it comes at you. And when
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: you look at Williams and all of these guys, they
- 1:48:45Speaker 2: have so much time on their film. You know, it's
- 1:48:48Speaker 2: just not even close. Now. I will say Drake May's
- 1:48:51Speaker 2: line sucked the North Carolina was of all the lines
- 1:48:54Speaker 2: that I watched, including Panix's, Drake Mays was the worst line.
- 1:48:58Speaker 2: But even he had a lot of time compared to
- 1:49:01Speaker 2: what he's going to get in the NFL. And that's
- 1:49:03Speaker 2: what worries me about him the most is can he
- 1:49:06Speaker 2: process quick enough to not make these dumb decisions.
- 1:49:09Speaker 6: Yeah, Washington had some studs for Lion.
- 1:49:12Speaker 10: Yeah, there's some post snap stuff that I agree with
- 1:49:15Speaker 10: you with on on Drake May that will need to improve.
- 1:49:18Speaker 10: But I think that he has a really good feel
- 1:49:22Speaker 10: pre snap, and then also really good feel of navigating pressure,
- 1:49:25Speaker 10: Like he understands I'm sliding the line over this direction.
- 1:49:29Speaker 10: So that means that if they bring an extra guy,
- 1:49:31Speaker 10: it's going to come from over here. So I'm just
- 1:49:33Speaker 10: going to drift a little bit in the pocket to
- 1:49:35Speaker 10: my right to buy myself that little extra beat.
- 1:49:39Speaker 2: I mean, I probably answer to this is yes, But
- 1:49:41Speaker 2: did you get a chance to watch like his bad
- 1:49:43Speaker 2: plays too?
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: Oh?
- 1:49:44Speaker 10: Yeah, yeah, See I don't I watch full games, so
- 1:49:48Speaker 10: I don't. I don't watch highlights. I don't watch just good.
- 1:49:51Speaker 2: Just that's the real way to do.
- 1:49:52Speaker 4: So I watched.
- 1:49:53Speaker 10: I watched full games, and I watched about eight of
- 1:49:56Speaker 10: his games from last year. And the biggest concern that
- 1:49:59Speaker 10: I have with with him is mechanically, Like he's got
- 1:50:02Speaker 10: to tighten up his release, he's got tighten up his footwork.
- 1:50:04Speaker 10: He's got to be more consistent. And there are times
- 1:50:07Speaker 10: where it becomes a big factor. You know, there's one
- 1:50:10Speaker 10: strip sack on his film where the ball is hanging
- 1:50:12Speaker 10: out all the way back here and his arm is
- 1:50:14Speaker 10: just begging for somebody to hit the ball or hit
- 1:50:17Speaker 10: his arm. Like those things have to tighten up and
- 1:50:20Speaker 10: why he would probably benefit from some time sitting. But
- 1:50:23Speaker 10: I think that in terms of consistency as a thrower
- 1:50:26Speaker 10: and those respects that you were saying, I would actually
- 1:50:29Speaker 10: say Jaden is probably the best out of all these guys.
- 1:50:33Speaker 10: You know, everything above the ways, but Jaden Daniels is
- 1:50:35Speaker 10: very compact, very efficient. Ball comes out quickly, ball comes
- 1:50:38Speaker 10: out on time. He just struggles at times with processing
- 1:50:43Speaker 10: speed of the progression, like Okay, my first read is
- 1:50:46Speaker 10: not there. Now I have to come off that, get
- 1:50:47Speaker 10: to the second. That's what you're talking about. Time in
- 1:50:50Speaker 10: the pocket. Like he had all day to do those
- 1:50:52Speaker 10: types of things at LSU.
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: You know, speaking of loosey goosey with the ball, I
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: mean Caleb Williams is loosey goosey.
- 1:50:58Speaker 8: Now.
- 1:50:59Speaker 2: The thing is he's so athletic that guys couldn't catch
- 1:51:01Speaker 2: him and he had huge space back there. But yeah,
- 1:51:06Speaker 2: like he'll start off with the ball way out there,
- 1:51:08Speaker 2: and like I said, he can get away with it.
- 1:51:11Speaker 2: But guys in the NFL are going to be on
- 1:51:13Speaker 2: him a lot quicker. You put that ball out there,
- 1:51:15Speaker 2: someone's going to hit your arm.
- 1:51:17Speaker 10: Yeah, he took a lot of sacks in college, held
- 1:51:20Speaker 10: the ball a lot and took in a lot of fumbles.
- 1:51:23Speaker 3: I'm trying to be be a hero, Seah. I look
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: at the stuff like, I agree with you on these
- 1:51:28Speaker 3: loose with the ball thing on both him and May.
- 1:51:32Speaker 3: I try to just focus on what they're doing.
- 1:51:34Speaker 4: I don't.
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: I'm not a football coach, so I don't try to
- 1:51:39Speaker 3: like interpret mentally what's going on. Like I don't say like, oh,
- 1:51:44Speaker 3: he's slow with this progress, Like I don't know, I
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: don't know what the progression has to be. So I
- 1:51:49Speaker 3: just try to like go off of what I see.
- 1:51:51Speaker 3: I see it so much similarity with when Evan's talking
- 1:51:55Speaker 3: about the mechanics. I don't know if he's ever going
- 1:51:58Speaker 3: to develop. Josh Allen came into the league a mess,
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: and he's not a mess anymore. Maybe Drake May will
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: always be a mess. Like if he just stays the
- 1:52:08Speaker 3: way he is, he'll be a talented but mediocre quarterback
- 1:52:13Speaker 3: if he sort of develops better footwork and learns to
- 1:52:18Speaker 3: protect the football better. Now, none of them really throw
- 1:52:21Speaker 3: like this is why I you know, the guys that
- 1:52:23Speaker 3: throw the stats at you, their stats are eye popping.
- 1:52:27Speaker 3: None of these guys, like I think Caleb Williams had
- 1:52:29Speaker 3: a terrible year. I think he threw five picks like
- 1:52:32Speaker 3: these guys' stats are through the roof. But he won't
- 1:52:36Speaker 3: get away with holding the ball like you said, he
- 1:52:39Speaker 3: won't And if he doesn't learn how to do something quicker,
- 1:52:43Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:52:44Speaker 10: That's that's why I feel like I gravitate towards May
- 1:52:47Speaker 10: so much because to me, his mechanical flaws are coachable
- 1:52:52Speaker 10: and fix.
- 1:52:52Speaker 4: That's how I feel.
- 1:52:53Speaker 10: So if you get him with the right coach who
- 1:52:56Speaker 10: can drill his footwork into the ground to the point
- 1:52:59Speaker 10: where it becomes repetitious and you know you're you're doing
- 1:53:02Speaker 10: it consistently. Then between the ears he does a lot
- 1:53:06Speaker 10: of the little quarterbacking type of things that are NFL ready,
- 1:53:11Speaker 10: especially attacking the middle of the field where he's really
- 1:53:13Speaker 10: good at reading leverage and layering throws into the middle
- 1:53:17Speaker 10: of the field, whereas some of these other guys don't
- 1:53:19Speaker 10: even touch the middle of the field. They're bubble screen,
- 1:53:22Speaker 10: go ball right like that. That's all they're doing. That's
- 1:53:24Speaker 10: Jayden Daniels, that's all he was doing in college. So
- 1:53:27Speaker 10: you know he gets up to the podium and they say, well,
- 1:53:28Speaker 10: what's your favorite ball to throw. He laughs, and he's
- 1:53:30Speaker 10: like a slow fade obviously because he threw about five
- 1:53:33Speaker 10: hundred of them last year. Lamers right and Thomas. So
- 1:53:39Speaker 10: when I you know, we see him at his pro day,
- 1:53:41Speaker 10: you know, how does he throw a dig route? How
- 1:53:43Speaker 10: does he how does he throw a deep out? How
- 1:53:45Speaker 10: does he throw a slant? Like those things are? He
- 1:53:47Speaker 10: doesn't do that a ton On his film.
- 1:53:50Speaker 2: Alex and Mount Holly says, just read Evans post Combine
- 1:53:53Speaker 2: mock draft, and I hope Elliott Wolf and Rod Mayo
- 1:53:55Speaker 2: have that same amount of luck and finding gems late
- 1:53:58Speaker 2: in the draft the way Evan didmpletely agree with his
- 1:54:01Speaker 2: mock draft and would feel better if Evan could be
- 1:54:03Speaker 2: in the war room late.
- 1:54:04Speaker 3: Oh no, don't get me.
- 1:54:06Speaker 2: That my only complaint since I'm a North Carolina native,
- 1:54:10Speaker 2: Why did you pick Drake may Don't you know he sucks?
- 1:54:13Speaker 2: What I'm talking about this?
- 1:54:15Speaker 4: I think that was a tongue of cheek.
- 1:54:17Speaker 6: I mean, okay, I just think it goes back to
- 1:54:19Speaker 6: what I said the top was any of these guys,
- 1:54:21Speaker 6: they all have the ceilings that it's just it's worth
- 1:54:23Speaker 6: the miss. It's not to over You can't overthink Drake
- 1:54:26Speaker 6: May and say no, no, no, we gotta go with
- 1:54:28Speaker 6: Joe allt You know, I just go for that quarter.
- 1:54:30Speaker 4: I think part of the May thing in North Carolina.
- 1:54:32Speaker 3: I'm not speaking for them, but like, he had a
- 1:54:35Speaker 3: really good year two years ago and he was disappointing
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: this year. If I was in North Carolina and I
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: rooted for the tar Heels, I'd be down on Drake
- 1:54:42Speaker 3: May too. That's I was expecting a lot.
- 1:54:44Speaker 2: And that's what they said, look at his twenty two film.
- 1:54:47Speaker 2: Don't look at his.
- 1:54:48Speaker 3: Well in twenty two, Josh downs So should he hadn't
- 1:54:52Speaker 3: he had? He lost a lot of NFL players.
- 1:54:54Speaker 10: Yeah, I just think that that's the difference and why
- 1:54:56Speaker 10: I always pick on the North Carolina people is ultimately, no,
- 1:54:59Speaker 10: like I don't care if he had a good year
- 1:55:02Speaker 10: or a bad year by the standard of the college,
- 1:55:04Speaker 10: like or they won the national championship or not, because
- 1:55:07Speaker 10: I'm looking at the player of how he's going to
- 1:55:09Speaker 10: project to the next level. So whether or not they
- 1:55:11Speaker 10: won enough games for you is like, really, it's irrelevant
- 1:55:14Speaker 10: to me because it's you know it. I don't look
- 1:55:17Speaker 10: at quarterback wins as like an all quarterbacks things, So
- 1:55:21Speaker 10: I look at it as how is this guy going
- 1:55:22Speaker 10: to play in the league? And that's more important to
- 1:55:24Speaker 10: me than what did the UNC go? Their record was
- 1:55:27Speaker 10: was not very good.
- 1:55:28Speaker 2: Todd, North Carolina's on the line. What's up, Todd?
- 1:55:31Speaker 20: Hey, guys, you're talking about Virginia. Been to Busch Gardens
- 1:55:34Speaker 20: a couple of times, driven through parts of Virginia and
- 1:55:36Speaker 20: me too. They're the fastest drivers I've ever seen the
- 1:55:40Speaker 20: heck out of me.
- 1:55:41Speaker 4: Okay, okay, yeah.
- 1:55:43Speaker 20: I had one State trooper pull off from the left
- 1:55:46Speaker 20: plane and decide to make a right turn and exit
- 1:55:47Speaker 20: right in front of me. Cut me right off, just
- 1:55:49Speaker 20: no siren nothing.
- 1:55:51Speaker 9: Wow, Okay, you gotta you gotta.
- 1:55:54Speaker 20: Well, Paul, I think you did that. Now, what I
- 1:55:56Speaker 20: want to talk about is if we get to quarterback,
- 1:55:59Speaker 20: what is the best thing, Like, I don't think get
- 1:56:01Speaker 20: a receiver is the best idea for a two quarterback.
- 1:56:05Speaker 20: I think it's build the line, get the running game going.
- 1:56:07Speaker 19: Yeah, what do you guys.
- 1:56:08Speaker 20: Think, how would you approach for bran new quarterback?
- 1:56:13Speaker 6: The Yeah, I mean that's another position we could probably
- 1:56:17Speaker 6: touch on real quick. Here at the end, it's just
- 1:56:18Speaker 6: the running backs and you know, not a great top
- 1:56:22Speaker 6: you know, top notch guys. But I think there's a
- 1:56:24Speaker 6: lot of guys late day two, early day three that
- 1:56:27Speaker 6: you know, can come in and play a role in
- 1:56:29Speaker 6: the backfield. I think it's it's I don't know. I
- 1:56:32Speaker 6: just I'm struggling to put words to it. I don't
- 1:56:34Speaker 6: think it's like a deep class, but I just think
- 1:56:35Speaker 6: there's some intriguing options that you could grab, and it's
- 1:56:38Speaker 6: it's not going to cost.
- 1:56:39Speaker 10: It because they're all replaceable, so free agents.
- 1:56:44Speaker 4: There's twenty and one guy.
- 1:56:46Speaker 10: You know, Bucky Irving is probably going to be the
- 1:56:48Speaker 10: same pro as Troy Brentson because they're all the same.
- 1:56:50Speaker 10: So like that, that's how I feel.
- 1:56:52Speaker 4: Give me a receiver with a young quarterback.
- 1:56:54Speaker 2: We'll show. We'll end the show with Boston Cream on
- 1:56:57Speaker 2: the line. What's up, Boston Cream?
- 1:57:00Speaker 20: Oh yawn, just woke up from another legendary Todd call.
- 1:57:04Speaker 19: Thanks thought.
- 1:57:05Speaker 3: Oh wow wow.
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: If you are listener listener crime, we love it. Wow All.
- 1:57:12Speaker 20: I'm sorry if I offended you on Twitter. I saw
- 1:57:15Speaker 20: the Miller light, I saw the sopranos.
- 1:57:17Speaker 4: I had to put them together.
- 1:57:20Speaker 3: My question is what is the trade?
- 1:57:23Speaker 18: Quickly?
- 1:57:24Speaker 20: What is the trade where.
- 1:57:26Speaker 19: You have to move off the pick and move off
- 1:57:28Speaker 19: from selecting a quarterback.
- 1:57:30Speaker 20: What's an unresistible trade three first round picks?
- 1:57:33Speaker 6: Yeah, something like that couple.
- 1:57:35Speaker 4: I mean, and maybe even you know, like three real
- 1:57:37Speaker 4: first round picks or switching spots is one of them?
- 1:57:40Speaker 4: Three real first round picks. Yeah, it'd be hard to
- 1:57:42Speaker 4: not do that.
- 1:57:43Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I would.
- 1:57:45Speaker 10: I would think about it. On the other scenario, if
- 1:57:47Speaker 10: it's three and eight for two future firsts twenty six,
- 1:57:54Speaker 10: then I would. I would still I would definitely think
- 1:57:56Speaker 10: about that too.
- 1:57:57Speaker 6: But yeah, if you're hard not to eat them with
- 1:57:58Speaker 6: like a twenty twenty five first and a twenty twenty six,
- 1:58:01Speaker 6: like yeah, second even.
- 1:58:02Speaker 10: It's just he also just it gives you that AMMO too,
- 1:58:06Speaker 10: of like Brandon Ayuk if he comes available via trade
- 1:58:08Speaker 10: or t Higgins is available, now you have AMMO from
- 1:58:11Speaker 10: future years to go and give.
- 1:58:13Speaker 6: That's a good point, is I think too often you
- 1:58:15Speaker 6: just think about, well, then you have picks for the future,
- 1:58:17Speaker 6: and it's like, no, those are actually capital that you
- 1:58:19Speaker 6: can use like sooner than later.
- 1:58:21Speaker 2: If you need to.
- 1:58:21Speaker 3: And that's the one thing, like they have the cap
- 1:58:23Speaker 3: space and they have the high pick, but they.
- 1:58:26Speaker 4: Don't have a lot of picks, right, you know high picks.
- 1:58:29Speaker 3: They don't have the ammunition, so you only have you know, one, two, three,
- 1:58:33Speaker 3: So if you could somehow stockpile you know, a couple
- 1:58:37Speaker 3: of first and a couple of seconds, that sort of
- 1:58:39Speaker 3: quickens the pace.
- 1:58:40Speaker 2: All right, Thanks BK and thanks everyone. That'll be the show.
