- 0:22Speaker 1: All right, welcome to Eagles Postgame Analysis here at the
- 0:24Speaker 1: Philadelphia Sports Table Podcast Show, the longest-running weekly Philly sports
- 0:28Speaker 1: podcast show in the world. Over 13 1⁄2 years strong,
- 0:32Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Eagles. We actually jumped on the mics here
- 0:37Speaker 1: as the game is still ongoing at this point. It
- 0:40Speaker 1: is the fourth quarter, and there's still about six minutes
- 0:43Speaker 1: left in this game. The Eagles are losing to the
- 0:45Speaker 1: Chicago Bears at Soldier Field by a score of 27-7.
- 0:51Speaker 1: What a horrendous game by this Philadelphia Eagles team. The offense,
- 0:56Speaker 1: the defense, all around play calling. I'm Jeff Warren here
- 0:59Speaker 1: with my buddy Eric Leonard. Themes from the game here,
- 1:03Speaker 1: as we usually get into. I can't wait for the grades.
- 1:08Speaker 1: Themes of the game. Do you want to start off, buddy?
- 1:12Speaker 1: It's not even over yet.
- 1:13Speaker 2: Serious lack of coaching.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, yes. Not even prepared. They don't look prepared.
- 1:18Speaker 2: No, I mean, the play on the field was terrible, but, like,
- 1:23Speaker 2: so unprepared in all three facets of the game. I think, what,
- 1:29Speaker 2: three turnovers they had today? Yeah. Right? Andy Dalton, you
- 1:33Speaker 2: can just not get on the plane.
- 1:36Speaker 1: How is he even in the league, let alone on
- 1:37Speaker 1: this team? My God.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Find an apartment in Chicago and just stay there. Yeah.
- 1:41Speaker 1: Like, my God.
- 1:42Speaker 2: I mean, Hurts played pretty well. besides the interception, you know,
- 1:48Speaker 2: the whole offense was on his back tonight. Yeah. And, uh, uh,
- 1:52Speaker 2: the defense, which we thought was going to be like
- 1:54Speaker 2: a stalwart the whole season. Um, pretty shaky, pretty shaky.
- 1:59Speaker 2: And like, I was already on the fence with this team.
- 2:02Speaker 2: I think on the, you know, this past, uh, on
- 2:04Speaker 2: the show this past week, I was like, yeah, they
- 2:07Speaker 2: barely beat the Titans. They barely beat the comes and
- 2:09Speaker 2: they're getting slaughtered by the, by the bears and cam
- 2:12Speaker 2: or case Keenum.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:14Speaker 2: And, uh, Is that conversation going to start soon? About
- 2:18Speaker 2: the head coach? Are we going to start this eventually here?
- 2:21Speaker 2: I know they're two and one.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:22Speaker 2: But this is a season and three games now where
- 2:27Speaker 2: they have not responded to this guy at all.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Absolutely. Look, I... If you remember last year, the Eagles
- 2:33Speaker 1: got bullied by the Chicago Bears. Happened again today. But
- 2:38Speaker 1: with last year, the Bears ran for 281 yards and
- 2:44Speaker 1: they kicked the shit out of the Eagles at the link. Tonight,
- 2:48Speaker 1: they only had 27 yards at the half. And right now,
- 2:51Speaker 1: as of us recording this, they have 88 yards defensively.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Defensive effort in terms of the run stoppage didn't do
- 2:58Speaker 1: terrible tonight, but where they did do terrible was with
- 3:02Speaker 1: this secondary. Holy shit. Case Keenum throwing for 247 yards
- 3:06Speaker 1: and two touchdowns.
- 3:07Speaker 2: His.
- 3:07Speaker 1: 7.3 yards average per attempt. That is incredible. And he's
- 3:17Speaker 1: got 110.8 rating. There is a huge problem with this
- 3:20Speaker 1: Eagle secondary. There is a huge problem with the safety position.
- 3:25Speaker 1: We talked about it all off season, throughout camp, throughout preseason.
- 3:30Speaker 1: The safety position is going to be a problem. Losing
- 3:33Speaker 1: Reed Blankenship, a major issue. And we really saw it
- 3:37Speaker 1: come to light after week three here. they, they just
- 3:41Speaker 1: took advantage of it. Why? Because it's been a problem
- 3:44Speaker 1: for the past couple of weeks as well, man. So
- 3:46Speaker 1: that's how he's going to have to address it already.
- 3:50Speaker 1: We're week three, how he's already going to have to
- 3:51Speaker 1: address the safety position. I know we did brand bringing
- 3:54Speaker 1: in more and I don't need, I'm not even sure
- 3:56Speaker 1: if more got on the field at all. And what's
- 3:59Speaker 1: he going to do anyway at his age? What's he
- 4:02Speaker 1: going to do? We talked about on the show. What's
- 4:04Speaker 1: he going to do? Um, it's a real problem, man.
- 4:07Speaker 1: It's a real problem. So I, I just, This is
- 4:12Speaker 1: not a team, like you said, that was prepared. They
- 4:14Speaker 1: were not a team that was well coached. Again, Case Keenum,
- 4:20Speaker 1: just kicking the crap out of them. I mean, you
- 4:22Speaker 1: saw it on the first play of, first drive, I
- 4:26Speaker 1: should say, of the game. They just let, the Eagles
- 4:29Speaker 1: defense just let Case Keenum march right down the field,
- 4:33Speaker 1: score a touchdown. He completed five of six passes for
- 4:36Speaker 1: 45 yards and an eight-yard touchdown pass to Luther Burden.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Luther Burden somehow just making mincemeat of this Eagles secondary.
- 4:44Speaker 1: Horrendous tackling. The defense just looked like Swiss cheese. Marcus
- 4:50Speaker 1: Epps was horrendous, had two missed tackles on that first drive,
- 4:53Speaker 1: and I think he was benched for Michael Carter, who
- 4:57Speaker 1: actually ended up making some plays in the first half. But, man,
- 5:02Speaker 1: it's deflating to see your team just play like such
- 5:05Speaker 1: dog shit like this. It really is. Yeah.
- 5:08Speaker 2: You wait all weekend. You know, your team is playing
- 5:10Speaker 2: Monday night and, uh, just worst case scenario. You just
- 5:13Speaker 2: waste your evening.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Like so bad.
- 5:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Um, I, I was determined to watch this game, Jeff,
- 5:19Speaker 2: cause I knew it was doing the post.
- 5:20Speaker 1: Game around halftime.
- 5:23Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, here we go. We're getting the ball
- 5:25Speaker 2: back in the second half. And then when they did
- 5:27Speaker 2: nothing with it and it was just, wow, this ain't
- 5:30Speaker 2: going to happen. And just, just two thoughts on the defense. Like, um,
- 5:35Speaker 2: they really picked on Macuba tonight. Um, Ben Johnson is
- 5:38Speaker 2: an offensive minded coach, a better coach, Nick Sirianni. Let's
- 5:41Speaker 2: just say it. Um, he had one week with case
- 5:44Speaker 2: Keenum and case Keenum put up 27 points, 250 yards passing.
- 5:50Speaker 2: He looked, he looked awesome tonight.
- 5:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 5:53Speaker 2: Uh, and, and we haven't said, we haven't talked about
- 5:56Speaker 2: it yet, but the defensive line, they have no sacks
- 5:59Speaker 2: tonight against a quarterback. Who's been in the league forever.
- 6:02Speaker 2: He's a backup. He was our third string for Christ's sake.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Uh, you know, we gave Jalen Carter and Davis all
- 6:12Speaker 2: that money, and I know they're tackles, but, like, they
- 6:15Speaker 2: have no edge rush whatsoever, and the guys up the middle, sure,
- 6:18Speaker 2: they shut the run down, but, like, they got to
- 6:20Speaker 2: be creating havoc. Like, Jalen Carter's job is to create havoc,
- 6:23Speaker 2: and Case Keenum, I don't know if he even, like,
- 6:25Speaker 2: fell on the ground during this game.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Three quarterback hits. Three quarterback hits as of us recording this.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Terrible, and all week I heard about Vic Fangio is
- 6:36Speaker 2: just dying for this this setup, like he's going to
- 6:38Speaker 2: face case Keenum on Monday night. And, uh, he was
- 6:42Speaker 2: not up to snuff either. And I just, again, the
- 6:45Speaker 2: head coach just kind of looks like a fool right
- 6:48Speaker 2: now on the sidelines, yelling, screaming, fuck you, this and that.
- 6:53Speaker 2: And it's like, your team's not prepared.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Calling, calling guys, pussies and stuff like that.
- 6:57Speaker 2: If you saw stop with the three ad three aspects
- 6:59Speaker 2: and coach your fucking team.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. It's interesting what you, you said it a
- 7:04Speaker 1: couple minutes ago and it's a theme that, that is
- 7:08Speaker 1: just repetitive over and over. They come out in the
- 7:11Speaker 1: second half, three and out. They're always deferring. They want
- 7:15Speaker 1: to defer to the second half. Come out, three and out.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Next series, three and out. Series after that, three and out.
- 7:23Speaker 1: How many times are we going to see this team
- 7:27Speaker 1: be so Jekyll and Hyde where in the first half,
- 7:30Speaker 1: They are moving the ball, and they are actually completing passes.
- 7:37Speaker 1: They're actually getting some positive running yards. And then all
- 7:39Speaker 1: of a sudden, the script turns. Third quarter, they cannot
- 7:43Speaker 1: do anything. This is like a year and a half
- 7:47Speaker 1: that this is happening. Is it Sean Mannion? Was it
- 7:50Speaker 1: Kevin Petullo, Poo Poo Holes? Was it him? Or is
- 7:53Speaker 1: this really Nick Sirianni at the end of the day?
- 7:56Speaker 1: It is the same theme every game in the third quarter.
- 8:00Speaker 1: And then the fourth quarter is when they need to
- 8:02Speaker 1: start making miracle plays. Jalen Hurts has to start doing
- 8:05Speaker 1: some kind of miracle stuff because the offensive line has
- 8:08Speaker 1: fallen apart in the third quarter and the fourth quarter.
- 8:11Speaker 1: So that's a theme that is so incredibly prevalent right
- 8:16Speaker 1: now at this point. I'm not sure how that stuff
- 8:19Speaker 1: gets fixed in the course of a week because it's
- 8:21Speaker 1: prevalent for a year and a half.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and what's the one commonality? It's him. It's Sirianni.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:27Speaker 2: And, like, I'll say this. I can see the defense
- 8:31Speaker 2: turning things around. This is kind of like they did
- 8:34Speaker 2: give up, what, 17 points to the Titans? I forget
- 8:36Speaker 2: what it was. But, you know, they kind of shut
- 8:38Speaker 2: them down. It's not like the Titans were scoring up
- 8:41Speaker 2: and down the field. I mean, they were the worst
- 8:44Speaker 2: team in the league.
- 8:44Speaker 1: 20 points. They gave up 20 points. Yeah.
- 8:47Speaker 2: I could see the defense turning it around. The offense,
- 8:49Speaker 2: on the other hand, Jalen Hurts is doing what he can.
- 8:53Speaker 2: That interception was really bad, but at the same time,
- 8:55Speaker 2: he was forcing things, just trying to make something happen.
- 8:59Speaker 2: One thing really jumped out to me.
- 9:01Speaker 1: The way the.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Bears used Luther Burden and the fourth and one call
- 9:07Speaker 2: with their third string tight end made the catch out
- 9:11Speaker 2: of the backfield.
- 9:12Speaker 1: You're on the road. You're down offensively.
- 9:21Speaker 2: Where's our gimmicky, where's our fun plays, where's our plays
- 9:25Speaker 2: to kind of mix things up and kind of spread
- 9:27Speaker 2: the defense out a bit? Not unlike basketball, where you're like,
- 9:31Speaker 2: you run certain offenses to spread the defense out or
- 9:33Speaker 2: kind of create space in the lane. You do those
- 9:37Speaker 2: kinds of things to like kind of put the defense
- 9:39Speaker 2: on their heels a little bit.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:43Speaker 2: This team is so bland and so obvious offensively, like
- 9:47Speaker 2: the Bears defense is not, this ain't 85.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 9:51Speaker 2: They just shut us down for the most part. I mean,
- 9:53Speaker 2: Saquon was killing it in the first half, and then
- 9:56Speaker 2: they just stopped running the ball.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:57Speaker 2: But, like... Okay, Sean Manning is this new... Like, where's
- 10:03Speaker 2: two or three plays a game when things are stale
- 10:07Speaker 2: to kind of make... Get things going?
- 10:10Speaker 1: Give it a spark.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Yeah. This is the third game. You'd think the guy
- 10:14Speaker 2: would want to make, like, a statement because he was coming,
- 10:17Speaker 2: you know, last year. Like.
- 10:19Speaker 2: He couldn't do any worse, right? Because we all hated
- 10:22Speaker 2: poo-poo holes.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:23Speaker 2: And I have yet to see a fucking thing from
- 10:26Speaker 2: this guy on the field. Unless he doesn't think the
- 10:28Speaker 2: offense can do it. But, like, I don't care at
- 10:30Speaker 2: this point.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Exactly. Yeah, exactly. Look, we saw two guys on the
- 10:36Speaker 1: field tonight for the very first time in Eagles regular
- 10:40Speaker 1: season game. Jonathan Grenard, who guess what? Did absolutely nothing
- 10:46Speaker 1: in this game. Zilch. Oh, the big acquisition, you know? Yes,
- 10:50Speaker 1: he did have a quarterback hit and one tackle. Expecting
- 10:54Speaker 1: a little more from a guy who they traded in
- 10:57Speaker 1: the draft to be that next pass rush guy. That
- 11:00Speaker 1: next guy that was going to make the quarterback uncomfortable.
- 11:03Speaker 1: He didn't do it tonight. Zach Ertz, it was good
- 11:06Speaker 1: to see him. Honestly, it was good to see him
- 11:08Speaker 1: out there. He was targeted twice. He caught one ball
- 11:10Speaker 1: for nine yards, but... You know, hopefully he's going to
- 11:13Speaker 1: have some sort of impact if they can actually get
- 11:14Speaker 1: the ball to him. I saw him open a number
- 11:16Speaker 1: of times, just like we saw Makai Lemon open a
- 11:19Speaker 1: number of times. We saw a lot of wide receivers
- 11:22Speaker 1: open a number of times, but it was in third
- 11:24Speaker 1: quarter when the, again, offensive line just completely decided to
- 11:29Speaker 1: do a 180 and just shut down. It's so damn frustrating.
- 11:35Speaker 1: It is so damn frustrating. My God. Oh, I don't
- 11:40Speaker 1: even know where to go behind. Oh, I just had
- 11:42Speaker 1: to mention one more thing. And maybe we go to
- 11:44Speaker 1: a break and then maybe we dish out our grades,
- 11:46Speaker 1: which are going to be fantastic. But I am so
- 11:49Speaker 1: tired of seeing the Eagles throwing the ball behind the
- 11:53Speaker 1: line of scrimmage on early downs. never producing any positive yards.
- 11:59Speaker 1: And it's that screen play to McKay lemon every fucking week.
- 12:05Speaker 1: And it gets stuffed every week because the receivers can't block.
- 12:08Speaker 1: And Zachary's was one of the receivers that couldn't block
- 12:10Speaker 1: on that play today. It was a terrible play called
- 12:13Speaker 1: terrible execution yet. Sean Manion keeps running that play. We
- 12:17Speaker 1: all know what it is. It's kind of like the
- 12:19Speaker 1: tight end screened that we could all see coming with
- 12:22Speaker 1: Dallas Goddard from last year, actually the past couple of years.
- 12:26Speaker 1: But this, this Mackay lemon screen behind the line of scrimmage,
- 12:29Speaker 1: it's becoming actually like laughable because we can all see
- 12:32Speaker 1: it's coming. The defense that they're, they're going up against
- 12:35Speaker 1: can see it coming as well. Same shit, different, different week,
- 12:40Speaker 1: you know?
- 12:40Speaker 2: Well, you know, I also found it funny. It was
- 12:42Speaker 2: the bears because they sniffed it out every single time. And, uh,
- 12:46Speaker 2: it's pretty, like I said, like, where's the fun plays.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 2: That should be a fun play, but it doesn't work.
- 12:55Speaker 2: And where's the next one? You can't just keep doing
- 12:57Speaker 2: the same thing. This is a really bad loss. I'm
- 13:06Speaker 2: coming into this week, Philadelphia sports fan. The Phillies squeaked
- 13:15Speaker 2: by a rat fart into the playoffs.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Yes.
- 13:20Speaker 2: It's not exactly Red October-ish here in my house. We're
- 13:26Speaker 2: still waiting for the Sixers and Flyers, right?
- 13:28Speaker 1: Yep.
- 13:29Speaker 2: That's why this game was like, okay, here we go.
- 13:31Speaker 2: We're going to kick off a good Philly sports week.
- 13:33Speaker 2: We got to have this one because our schedule coming up,
- 13:37Speaker 2: they play the Rams, the Jags, Panthers, Cowboys.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:41Speaker 2: Like, those are all good teams.
- 13:44Speaker 1: They're not gimme teams. Yeah, they're not gimme wins.
- 13:46Speaker 2: No. We might lose by 30 to the Jags in Jacksonville.
- 13:52Speaker 2: That's how bad they look tonight. They can absolutely turn
- 13:55Speaker 2: it around. This is not the end of the world.
- 13:57Speaker 2: They're 2-1. The NFC East is just totally up for grabs.
- 14:00Speaker 2: And that's the other reason this game was such a bummer,
- 14:03Speaker 2: that the Giants lost to their quarterback. The Cubs have
- 14:07Speaker 2: Marcus Mariota. I know they beat the Seahawks, but whatever.
- 14:10Speaker 2: The Cowboys lose in typical Cowboys fashion.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Right, exactly.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Exactly. But guess what? The Eagles came out and lost
- 14:17Speaker 2: in classic Eagles fashion.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 14:18Speaker 2: We all thought they were going to kick the shit
- 14:20Speaker 2: out of this team.
- 14:21Speaker 1: Yep.
- 14:21Speaker 2: And they lose by 20 points. By the way, I
- 14:24Speaker 2: bet them to win. What am I doing, Jeff?
- 14:26Speaker 1: What are you doing?
- 14:26Speaker 2: Why am I betting the Eagles? After everyone's all hyped
- 14:31Speaker 2: up about them, of course, me jumps on the gambling
- 14:34Speaker 2: train and– lassoed the Eagles like a fucking idiot.
- 14:38Speaker 1: It was the first quarter. One of my buddies down
- 14:40Speaker 1: in DC texted me. He's like, Jeff, I put 10
- 14:42Speaker 1: bucks on the bears. I said, good. You're going to
- 14:44Speaker 1: make your 30 bucks tonight. Good.
- 14:47Speaker 2: You know, 10,000 on the bears.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Take your daughter's college money, put it towards it. You know,
- 14:53Speaker 1: your firstborn son.
- 14:54Speaker 2: Yes.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Jeez. All right. Well, let's go to, unless you have
- 14:59Speaker 1: anything else, let's go to break and then we'll do
- 15:00Speaker 1: the grades. No. Okay. We're going to go to break, folks.
- 15:06Speaker 1: We'll be back with the grades and our MVP award
- 15:10Speaker 1: that we're going to give out, which, who's that going
- 15:13Speaker 1: to be? Who? I wonder. And then our doo-doo butter award.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Okay.
- 15:17Speaker 1: That's what we're doing, too.
- 15:18Speaker 2: I hope we have a lot of doo-doo butter.
- 15:21Speaker 1: Could be an old team.
- 15:22Speaker 2: There's a lot to go around, a lot to spread. Exactly.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Pour on them. All right. We're taking that break. We'll
- 15:28Speaker 1: be right back. All right, we are back. Let me
- 15:33Speaker 1: get the, yeah, let me get that up there. Okay.
- 15:36Speaker 1: All right. Grading Jalen Hurts in the quarterback position overall,
- 15:40Speaker 1: because you got to put Andy Dalton in there. He
- 15:42Speaker 1: got in, and boy, did he make an impact. Oh,
- 15:45Speaker 1: my God. Quarterback position this week gets a D from me.
- 15:48Speaker 1: What do you give him?
- 15:50Speaker 2: I'll give him a C +.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Okay.
- 15:52Speaker 2: It was one of the few positives. The play at
- 15:55Speaker 2: the end of the first half by Jalen was so smart.
- 15:58Speaker 2: It was. I did text a bunch of my Eagles buddies, like,
- 16:02Speaker 2: that was a great fucking play. Yeah. You had to
- 16:05Speaker 2: have that touchdown. You know you're getting the ball back
- 16:07Speaker 2: in the second half. It was absolutely a game. But
- 16:10Speaker 2: if he didn't do that, they would have went into
- 16:12Speaker 2: the second half limping.
- 16:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:14Speaker 2: I got to give him credit because besides the rest
- 16:17Speaker 2: of it sucked. Okay. He definitely gets– I'll give him
- 16:21Speaker 2: a C +.
- 16:22Speaker 1: All right.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Minus Andy Dalton's. What an asshole coming for one play
- 16:27Speaker 2: and you just throw it into the crowd for God's sake.
- 16:33Speaker 1: I know I throw right to him. Gosh, you're all right.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Running back position. Gonna, gonna actually get some high marks
- 16:42Speaker 1: for me. 107 yards on only on 19 total carries 5.6
- 16:44Speaker 1: yards with this team. Average Saquon average 5.5 yards. per attempt.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I mean, I'm giving him an A actually this week.
- 16:56Speaker 1: I know he didn't score, but this is what we've
- 16:58Speaker 1: been wanting to see from Saquon Barkley and Tank Bigsby.
- 17:02Speaker 1: He actually didn't get a rush in this game at all.
- 17:05Speaker 1: I'm going to give the running back position an A
- 17:07Speaker 1: this week, actually. 82 yards on the ground? I'm giving
- 17:10Speaker 1: him an A. What do you give him?
- 17:11Speaker 2: Same thing, actually. Because, yeah, five and a half yards
- 17:14Speaker 2: per carry, 15 for 82. And there is a pathway
- 17:19Speaker 2: for this game where He scores a touchdown in the
- 17:23Speaker 2: end of the first half. They get the ball back
- 17:24Speaker 2: in the second half. Say they score a field goal.
- 17:28Speaker 2: The defense makes a stop. And then you run Saquon
- 17:31Speaker 2: to death because he was.
- 17:33Speaker 1: Running really well.
- 17:34Speaker 2: That was one part of their game that they were
- 17:36Speaker 2: kicking ass. But then they– three and out, fair score,
- 17:41Speaker 2: and all of a sudden Saquon is just obsolete because
- 17:44Speaker 2: you can't run the ball down whatever they were, 10– Like,
- 17:47Speaker 2: because this offense is not explosive. So, like, if the
- 17:49Speaker 2: game's close, sure, you can run. If not, you can't.
- 17:52Speaker 2: And that's the problem with this offense right now. Like,
- 17:55Speaker 2: you're so one-dimensional.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Yep.
- 17:57Speaker 2: And you don't have the fun plays that, let's just say,
- 18:00Speaker 2: they're fucking boring to watch.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:03Speaker 2: This offense is really boring.
- 18:04Speaker 1: It's a boring offense.
- 18:06Speaker 2: And that's not what we're used to.
- 18:07Speaker 1: Yeah. Yep. All right. Wide receivers, I should say. Wide receivers,
- 18:12Speaker 1: tight ends. I mean, they had 153 yards total. Devontae
- 18:17Speaker 1: Smith getting eight targets, Dontavian Wicks getting five targets, only
- 18:22Speaker 1: coming down with two balls for 32 yards. Devontae Smith
- 18:26Speaker 1: had 65 yards. Like, I genuinely think that they did
- 18:31Speaker 1: what they were supposed to do with the targets that
- 18:35Speaker 1: they had. But again, in the third and fourth quarters,
- 18:39Speaker 1: I mean, the pass protection really wasn't all that great
- 18:43Speaker 1: from the offensive line, too. So I can't necessarily fault
- 18:47Speaker 1: the receiving two too much. I mean, I'll give him
- 18:50Speaker 1: a B minus. What do you give him?
- 18:52Speaker 2: I'd say a C. Hertz was running around quite a bit.
- 18:57Speaker 2: He was under pressure a lot. Yeah. Against, you know, like,
- 19:01Speaker 2: what was the name?
- 19:02Speaker 1: Grady Jarrett?
- 19:03Speaker 2: Was that his? Yeah, yeah.
- 19:05Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Wasn't he a former Eagle? Grady Jarrett?
- 19:08Speaker 1: Grady Jarrett?
- 19:11Speaker 2: For the Bears.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Yeah, I know who you're talking about.
- 19:13Speaker 2: They kept saying his name. Sorry.
- 19:15Speaker 1: That's all right. Whatever.
- 19:17Speaker 2: Yeah, Grady Jarrett. Sorry.
- 19:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:21Speaker 2: That's the thing. Guys like Grady Jarrett were making Hurts
- 19:26Speaker 2: run around. Just a year ago, maybe two years ago,
- 19:30Speaker 2: this offensive line was not letting Grady Jarrett and Jalen
- 19:34Speaker 2: Johnson– We might be seeing the downslide of this offensive line.
- 19:43Speaker 2: It's just not what it was. I think we're, I
- 19:47Speaker 2: think I said on the show Wednesday this past or
- 19:49Speaker 2: this past, yeah, past week that like, is it the
- 19:52Speaker 2: scheme that that's confusing the offensive line? They're just not
- 19:55Speaker 2: quite there. We're three games in now.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 19:57Speaker 2: I think we're past the point of scheme. I think
- 19:59Speaker 2: this is like, This is a diagnosis at this point.
- 20:02Speaker 1: And the offensive line, before even the first game of
- 20:05Speaker 1: the season, ended up saying that this offense was actually
- 20:08Speaker 1: a lot more, it was easier concepts. The line was
- 20:12Speaker 1: saying easier concepts for them. And they weren't actually asked
- 20:16Speaker 1: to do as much as they were in Kevin Petullo's offense.
- 20:19Speaker 1: So it's amazing. So let's do the offensive line here.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I mean, I'm going to give them a C. Overall,
- 20:25Speaker 1: they actually played pretty well in the first half, and
- 20:27Speaker 1: then they completely, again, like I mentioned earlier before the break,
- 20:30Speaker 1: did a 180 and completely shit the bed. It was
- 20:32Speaker 1: like an F. So I'm going to give them a C.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Oh, man. I'd say D +. Just because it hurts
- 20:40Speaker 2: running around. I mean, they had to have a perfect
- 20:45Speaker 2: game tonight because, I mean, hell, the tight end, the
- 20:48Speaker 2: starting tight end was Johnny Muntz. For the love of God.
- 20:52Speaker 2: When I saw that on my TV, I'm like, oh,
- 20:54Speaker 2: this is not a good sign. They've been pretty reliant
- 20:59Speaker 2: on Goddard throughout the first few weeks. When I saw
- 21:02Speaker 2: that name, I was like. man, didn't we sign Zach Hertz?
- 21:06Speaker 2: Do we have to start this guy?
- 21:07Speaker 1: What a name, too.
- 21:08Speaker 2: Mont. Mont. I'm sure he's a nice guy, but I
- 21:13Speaker 2: saw that. I'm like, why is he starting for my
- 21:15Speaker 2: football team on national TV? It's really bad. They have
- 21:22Speaker 2: the wide receivers can't get over. It all starts with
- 21:25Speaker 2: the offensive line, honestly. They created run lanes when the
- 21:30Speaker 2: game still mattered. And then for some reason, pass protection,
- 21:35Speaker 2: they just kind of seem to fall apart.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Yeah. Can't pick up the blitz. It's a problem. It's
- 21:41Speaker 1: a problem for sure. All right. Other side of the ball, defense.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Defensive line, you know, I got to give defensive line
- 21:49Speaker 1: credit because at the end of the day, like I mentioned,
- 21:51Speaker 1: they only gave up 27 yards rushing in the half.
- 21:55Speaker 1: But then, of course, as the game went on and
- 21:57Speaker 1: the game is over right now, 128 total. yards uh
- 22:01Speaker 1: rushing deandre swift with 84 um kyle monong monongony i
- 22:10Speaker 1: can't even say of course i can't say his name
- 22:12Speaker 1: right i think it's monong guy monong guy oh yeah
- 22:15Speaker 1: god i suck i really do 31 yards for him
- 22:18Speaker 1: and uh so i'm actually going to give the defensive
- 22:23Speaker 1: line even though they couldn't get any sacks and even
- 22:26Speaker 1: though the they were pressuring Yes, you want to see
- 22:30Speaker 1: more from Jalen Carter in terms of sacks. Yes, you
- 22:32Speaker 1: want to see more from Jordan Davis in terms of
- 22:35Speaker 1: run stuffing, and I think he did a decent job
- 22:37Speaker 1: with that tonight just from the naked eye. I'm going
- 22:40Speaker 1: to give them a B +. What do you give
- 22:42Speaker 1: them this week? Maybe a B, actually. I don't know.
- 22:45Speaker 2: How many sacks do they have this year?
- 22:47Speaker 1: That's a really good question. I think they may have three,
- 22:51Speaker 1: three or four.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Yeah, three sacks against three not great teams.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Good number. And they weren't particularly good tonight either. They
- 23:03Speaker 2: kept the running backs out of the end zone. But,
- 23:06Speaker 2: you know, Case Keenum was pretty much on pressure the
- 23:10Speaker 2: entire game. And that's just unheard of with a backup quarterback.
- 23:15Speaker 2: He had one week to prepare. I mean, Tyson Badgett
- 23:18Speaker 2: came in last year, right? Is that his name, Tyson Badgett? Yeah.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Came in last week, and he went down. So Case
- 23:23Speaker 2: Keenum was the third stringer, and he had, what, eight
- 23:27Speaker 2: days to get ready.
- 23:28Speaker 1: Yep.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Looked phenomenal. The defensive line gave him absolutely no headaches.
- 23:33Speaker 2: So if I have to give him a grade, I
- 23:36Speaker 2: know the rushing number is C-. Okay.
- 23:39Speaker 1: All right. Okay. The linebackers played like absolute doo-doo butter tonight,
- 23:46Speaker 1: in my opinion. They played like shit. Zach Bond. Actually,
- 23:50Speaker 1: Zach Bond didn't play like shit.
- 23:52Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Didn't play like shit. Jihad Campbell did not play well.
- 23:56Speaker 1: I should say that. It really was a tale of
- 23:58Speaker 1: two different linebackers. Zach Bond with nine total tackles, two
- 24:02Speaker 1: tackles for a loss, one pass defended. Jihad Campbell with
- 24:05Speaker 1: nine total tackles. But man, he was getting burnt in
- 24:09Speaker 1: coverage constantly. Zach Bond was getting burnt in coverage as well.
- 24:12Speaker 1: It's like they had no idea what was going on.
- 24:14Speaker 1: I'm going to give the linebackers this week a D +.
- 24:16Speaker 1: What do you give them?
- 24:18Speaker 2: You know who looked really good yesterday for the Raiders? Who?
- 24:20Speaker 2: N'Kobi Dean.
- 24:22Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just a name I'm throwing out there. He's
- 24:25Speaker 2: a good football player, yeah. No reason, no reason. The linebackers,
- 24:30Speaker 2: I guess a C because Zach Baum played really well.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:33Speaker 2: But Jihad Campbell looked lost.
- 24:36Speaker 1: He really did, man.
- 24:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and against Case Keenum, by the way. Yeah. So
- 24:42Speaker 2: not a good sign, but, you know, it– Their play
- 24:47Speaker 2: kind of didn't matter, honestly. When I started to notice
- 24:52Speaker 2: them is when the game was sort of over. The
- 24:55Speaker 2: next group we're going to get to is the one
- 24:56Speaker 2: that just.
- 24:58Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 24:58Speaker 2: My God.
- 24:59Speaker 1: Secondary. Fucking F-minus this week. I mean, there is no
- 25:05Speaker 1: other way about it. And guess who had an interception
- 25:09Speaker 1: yesterday as a member of the Houston Texans? Reed Blankenship.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Oh yeah.
- 25:15Speaker 1: We're missing Reed Blankenship folks. And I remember so many people,
- 25:18Speaker 1: you know, even a couple of years ago, this guy stinks,
- 25:21Speaker 1: Reed Blankenship, you know, just cause he might miss like
- 25:24Speaker 1: maybe one tackle a game or something like that. Oh,
- 25:26Speaker 1: it stinks. They need Reed Blankenship so bad back there now.
- 25:31Speaker 1: They do. Cause this is an F outside of Quinion
- 25:34Speaker 1: Mitchell who had some nice past defenders, past defenses. Um, he,
- 25:39Speaker 1: Everybody sucked. I mean, even, I don't know what's happening
- 25:42Speaker 1: with Cooper Dejean this year either. Holy cow. I mean,
- 25:46Speaker 1: three games, he seems not like he, I don't want
- 25:49Speaker 1: to say he seems lost, but he seems either out
- 25:51Speaker 1: of position or somebody's not doing something on the back
- 25:55Speaker 1: end that they need to do. Maybe it is Macuba
- 25:58Speaker 1: F minus for the secondary this week. What do you
- 26:01Speaker 1: give him? Uh, Quinn Young.
- 26:04Speaker 2: I saw this on Twitter. I think Victor, a friend
- 26:07Speaker 2: of the show tweeted, uh, whatever Quinion Mitchell wants financially,
- 26:11Speaker 2: just give it to him.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:12Speaker 2: He is by far our best defensive player at this
- 26:16Speaker 2: point in the season and easily in our secondary. I've
- 26:19Speaker 2: had a little theory about Cooper Dejean since the Superbowl.
- 26:23Speaker 1: Okay.
- 26:24Speaker 2: Quiet. Never really said on the show. Okay. But you
- 26:27Speaker 2: look at social media, he's out there. He's out there
- 26:30Speaker 2: a lot. Hating a lot. And then, Hey, I don't
- 26:32Speaker 2: blame him.
- 26:33Speaker 1: He's got a presence. Yes.
- 26:34Speaker 2: 23, 24 years. good looking kid out in the city.
- 26:38Speaker 2: Like I totally understand. I saw Pat Burrell dominate Philly
- 26:42Speaker 2: in his prime when I used to live there. So
- 26:44Speaker 2: I understand wanting to go out and stuff, but a
- 26:48Speaker 2: little too big for his britches, I think.
- 26:50Speaker 1: Okay. Okay. A little bit.
- 26:52Speaker 2: I'm starting to think like some of the hype, some
- 26:55Speaker 2: of the, some of the press, some of the pub
- 26:57Speaker 2: kind of got to his head a little bit.
- 26:59Speaker 1: All right.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Maybe he's not doing as much work as he should be.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Cause he looks like, terrible yeah not good like really
- 27:05Speaker 2: bad and he was not exactly like lights out last
- 27:07Speaker 2: year yeah so i i i don't know i hopefully
- 27:11Speaker 2: it's just a he'll he'll round into shape here but
- 27:14Speaker 2: like but i mean makuba's one thing he's he was
- 27:17Speaker 2: a third round whatever he wasn't like a first round
- 27:20Speaker 2: pick super bowl starter you know winner um really really
- 27:25Speaker 2: worried about the secondary but especially dajean yeah just how
- 27:28Speaker 2: he was supposed to kind of solidify that safety position
- 27:30Speaker 2: it's just not not happening All right.
- 27:33Speaker 1: You gave him an F, right? Or F minus?
- 27:34Speaker 2: Oh, I didn't give him a grade. Yeah, fuck an F.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Forgot. All right, folks. Quick break. And when we come back,
- 27:41Speaker 1: we're going to grade the coaching and give out our
- 27:44Speaker 1: MVP award and the LVP award, the doo-doo butter award.
- 27:48Speaker 1: We'll be right back. All right, let's give out our
- 27:55Speaker 1: grades for special teams. Special teams didn't do anything special
- 27:59Speaker 1: really at all tonight. Brayden Mann, who has basically been
- 28:02Speaker 1: the MVP for the past two games because his leg
- 28:05Speaker 1: has been tremendous. He only averaged 41.8 yards per punt
- 28:09Speaker 1: on four punts tonight. Not really great at all. Jake
- 28:12Speaker 1: Elliott kicked one extra point. Britton Covey, just one punt
- 28:15Speaker 1: return for eight yards. Will Shipley averaged 22 yards tonight. Uh, per, uh,
- 28:21Speaker 1: return Britain Covey had a return for a kick return
- 28:24Speaker 1: for 26 yards. So, I mean, I guess give special
- 28:28Speaker 1: teams a B, you know, what do you give special teams?
- 28:33Speaker 2: Uh, let's say a B minus just cause Braden man's
- 28:36Speaker 2: first punt was maybe the worst punt I've ever seen
- 28:38Speaker 2: him kick in my life.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I know it was crazy. Cause he's basically been killing
- 28:41Speaker 1: it the first two seasons.
- 28:44Speaker 2: I literally was just telling my son before the kick,
- 28:47Speaker 2: he was asking, is their punter good? I'm like, he's
- 28:49Speaker 2: really good. And then he shanks one. Worst shank I've
- 28:53Speaker 2: ever seen from him by far. And then like, he's asking,
- 28:57Speaker 2: why is the ref running up the field? Like, cause
- 28:58Speaker 2: he's trying to figure out where the hell that ball
- 29:00Speaker 2: went out.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Yes.
- 29:01Speaker 2: That went off the left side of his, uh, man's foot.
- 29:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Um, yeah, nothing special here. Uh, no pun intended, but yeah, I,
- 29:10Speaker 2: what'd I give him like a B minus C plus
- 29:12Speaker 2: B minus.
- 29:12Speaker 1: You said, okay.
- 29:13Speaker 2: The whole team sucked.
- 29:14Speaker 1: Yeah, it did. Vic Fangio defense. I'm giving him a
- 29:17Speaker 1: D minus. Could be like an F could be an
- 29:19Speaker 1: F actually. It, They were terrible. They were terrible. What
- 29:22Speaker 1: do you give Fangio?
- 29:24Speaker 2: No sacks didn't create one turnover.
- 29:26Speaker 1: Right.
- 29:26Speaker 2: To me, that's an F.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Yep.
- 29:27Speaker 2: You gave up 27 points to a Bears team and
- 29:29Speaker 2: a third-string quarterback. I know they were home. Like, you've
- 29:33Speaker 2: been around the league, Vic, and, like, that is deplorable.
- 29:36Speaker 2: You should get a paycheck this week. It's an F.
- 29:38Speaker 1: All right. Nick Sirianni, Sean Mannion, I'm going to give
- 29:42Speaker 1: them an F, too. That's what they deserve. This one.
- 29:48Speaker 2: It's an F. I already went at length about the offense,
- 29:51Speaker 2: and this is all on Nick's shoulders at this point.
- 29:54Speaker 2: They weren't prepared whatsoever. Like I said, I don't give
- 29:57Speaker 2: a shit about the calling people pussies and all this
- 30:00Speaker 2: other stuff. Like I, like I coach your team. Yeah. That's,
- 30:03Speaker 2: that's what I want. Yep.
- 30:05Speaker 1: All right. MVP of this game. It's tough to just
- 30:08Speaker 1: pick out of the crap, you know, who would be
- 30:11Speaker 1: the most valuable player of this game? But I do
- 30:13Speaker 1: think it is Saquon Barkley. As we mentioned earlier, 15
- 30:17Speaker 1: carries 82 yards. The average 5.5 yards per carry had
- 30:21Speaker 1: a long of 17 yards. He had a, he actually
- 30:24Speaker 1: had a rush that was 19 yards as well, but
- 30:28Speaker 1: negated the, on a holding penalty by Tyler Steen. So, uh,
- 30:32Speaker 1: Saquon Barkley, I think the MVP of this game, who
- 30:35Speaker 1: do you got?
- 30:37Speaker 2: I'll, I'll mix it up. I'll go with Quinn Young.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Okay.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Um, they, what, what, what, uh, his name, Ben Johnson.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:46Speaker 2: The coach of the bears. What he did tonight was classic.
- 30:49Speaker 2: Like that is their best guy in the field. We're
- 30:52Speaker 2: just going to stay away from him.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 30:54Speaker 2: And he did a really good job of that. I
- 30:56Speaker 2: swear to God, every time I looked up from my phone,
- 30:58Speaker 2: I was looking at stats and stuff. Every time I
- 30:59Speaker 2: looked up for a completion, Makuba was getting just manhandled
- 31:04Speaker 2: or getting beat. And it was like, he just was like,
- 31:07Speaker 2: I'm not going near a queue. I'm just going to
- 31:09Speaker 2: go after everyone else. And that worked. But like, It's
- 31:12Speaker 2: got for me that he's probably the MVP because like
- 31:15Speaker 2: they just stayed away from him all night.
- 31:16Speaker 1: Two tackles for a loss. Quinion Mitchell had as well
- 31:19Speaker 1: as two passes defended. So right there, a total seven
- 31:22Speaker 1: total tackles to, you know, so I think that's a
- 31:25Speaker 1: good call. That's a good call. All right, the least
- 31:28Speaker 1: valuable player, the LVP, and who are we giving the
- 31:32Speaker 1: doo-doo butter award to in this one? Who are you
- 31:35Speaker 1: going to be giving it to? I mean, for me,
- 31:37Speaker 1: it's Andrew Makuba. I mean, horrendous, horrendous play. Just completely
- 31:44Speaker 1: out of position. Almost in every play, pass play, I
- 31:48Speaker 1: should say, pass play, he's getting the doo-doo butter award
- 31:52Speaker 1: from me.
- 31:55Speaker 2: I'm going to go with our new player, Jonathan Grenard.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Oh, all right.
- 31:59Speaker 2: Like this was his first game.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Yeah. Right.
- 32:01Speaker 2: And like the defense was a little shaky the first
- 32:05Speaker 2: two games. And it was like, OK, we're on the road.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Third string quarterback. Let's see it, pal.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Right.
- 32:11Speaker 2: And, you know, this team, too, used to play him
- 32:13Speaker 2: twice a year. And it's like like this should have
- 32:16Speaker 2: been the game. It was like, all right, you traded
- 32:19Speaker 2: you traded stuff for me. You gave you paid me like,
- 32:22Speaker 2: let's see it. Let's see a sack. let's see a
- 32:24Speaker 2: couple of QB pressures.
- 32:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:26Speaker 2: And he didn't do shit. He had one tackle and like,
- 32:29Speaker 2: he's supposed to be our edge stalwart rusher. And like, just,
- 32:33Speaker 2: he did nothing.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. All right, very good. Folks, let us know
- 32:38Speaker 1: who your MVP player was this game, your least valuable player.
- 32:42Speaker 1: Who gets that doo-doo butter award? We'd love to hear
- 32:45Speaker 1: from you on YouTube. Leave a comment below. And if
- 32:49Speaker 1: you are listening to us on an audio podcast platform,
- 32:52Speaker 1: share the Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show with your friends,
- 32:55Speaker 1: your family who are into Philly sports. Any final thoughts, buddy,
- 32:58Speaker 1: before we head out of here?
- 33:01Speaker 2: Go Phillies.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Yeah. They have the coveted 2 o'clock game tomorrow.
- 33:09Speaker 1: That's awesome. I can't wait. Exactly.
- 33:11Speaker 2: I had to move calls around so I could watch
- 33:13Speaker 2: the Phillies game.
- 33:14Speaker 1: That's great.
- 33:15Speaker 2: That's crap.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Folks, go back in the feed. I talked to my
- 33:18Speaker 1: buddy Eric Mortelli about this Phillies Braves series. It's that
- 33:23Speaker 1: October rivalry that has been renewed here. Go back in
- 33:27Speaker 1: the feed and check it out as I hit my
- 33:29Speaker 1: mic here. Everything's a disaster tonight. Everything stinks.
- 33:36Speaker 2: Next week might be the season for them, if you
- 33:38Speaker 2: think about it.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 33:39Speaker 2: If the Eagles come out at home and they play
- 33:42Speaker 2: like this and get smoked by the Rams by three touchdowns,
- 33:47Speaker 2: where are they going from there? Then I have no
- 33:50Speaker 2: idea what the season is going to be. They could
- 33:52Speaker 2: go 5-12 or maybe turn it around. I just feel
- 33:57Speaker 2: like this next game, if they play poorly... the sirianni
- 34:01Speaker 2: hot seats got to start but there's no way around.
- 34:04Speaker 1: It exactly exactly we're going to be talking about on
- 34:07Speaker 1: the show for sure um yeah that's going to do
- 34:09Speaker 1: it for us everybody take care and we'll catch you
- 34:13Speaker 1: next time
