Transcript
- 0:00Welcome to the Joe Rogan recap. Today we're really getting into
- 0:03it, diving deep into a pretty wild conversation from the Joe
- 0:06Rogan Experience. Yeah, this was episode Hashtag
- 0:092246 with James Fox, the filmmaker.
- 0:13It was a long one, covering, well, everything.
- 0:16UAP, recent sightings, older cases, government stuff.
- 0:20Or, you know, the lack of government stuff, depending on
- 0:22how you look at it. The whole mystery around
- 0:25unidentified aerial phenomena. Exactly.
- 0:27So our mission here is basically to boil it all down for you,
- 0:31pull out the key takeaways, the really compelling bits from that
- 0:34whole exchange. Right give you the essentials
- 0:37without you needing to sit through hours though.
- 0:39It was a fascinating listen. We want to give you a concise
- 0:42but really thorough understanding.
- 0:44OK, so let's start with something kind of funny that led
- 0:46into some serious stuff. Joe's run in with Ryan Graves in
- 0:49a hotel elevator. Oh yeah, the dodgy elevator
- 0:51story. Apparently everyone was saying
- 0:53don't use this elevator but Joe. Well.
- 0:55He had to try it, of course, and Graves was in there.
- 0:58And that seemingly random meeting kicked off a whole
- 1:01discussion about what Graves has actually seen.
- 1:04He talked about these really advanced drones or whatever they
- 1:07are back in New Jersey. Not.
- 1:08Your DGI Mavics right? These were like SUV size.
- 1:11Exactly. SUV size, totally silent, flying
- 1:15for hours, he mentioned. Up to five hours sometimes.
- 1:17Five hours, silent and big as a car.
- 1:20And he also said they could evade FLIR right, the infrared
- 1:24detection. Yeah, just disappear from it.
- 1:26That's pretty advanced capability it.
- 1:28Really makes you think, are these hours some secret military
- 1:32tech we don't know about Or it said something else.
- 1:35Graves even floated the idea they could be coming from the
- 1:37ocean. 50 of them reportedly seen off the coast.
- 1:40That's what was mentioned reported by Coast Guard police.
- 1:42It does sound like something out of a movie.
- 1:44It really does. The scale of it, it's just yeah.
- 1:46And this ties into what James Fox was talking about this
- 1:49recent almost like surge in UAP reports.
- 1:52He got that text right from the retired Air Force Colonel.
- 1:55Yeah, kind of tongue in cheek asking if Fox had, you know,
- 1:58engineered this UAP invasion to promote his movie.
- 2:02An invasion? Yeah, maybe a strong word.
- 2:05But look at where these things were being seen.
- 2:07California, Europe, UK bases New York, New Jersey, San Diego.
- 2:13Ohio too, right? Patterson apparently had a
- 2:16shutdown because of 1. Florida with those photos Grab
- 2:18shared. It's widespread.
- 2:20And it's not just random people seeing lights.
- 2:22These are often near sensitive areas, sometimes tracked on
- 2:25radar, seen by pilots. Fox admitted at first he
- 2:28thought, OK, probably just drones.
- 2:29Conventional stuff. Makes sense?
- 2:31That's the default explanation now.
- 2:33But then the details started coming in.
- 2:35Reports of silent operation flights lasting hours.
- 2:39Weird shapes like crescents that changed his mind.
- 2:42And Christopher Mellon, former deputy assistant Secretary of
- 2:45Defense for intelligence, he called it.
- 2:47What a real shit show. Yeah, pretty blunt, he
- 2:50acknowledged. Some could be explained away,
- 2:51sure, but a lot of them, including maybe 50 off the coast
- 2:55seen by officials, genuinely mysterious.
- 2:58Then you had Senator Schumer at that press conference talking
- 3:00about drones but acknowledging they didn't know what they were.
- 3:03Right. And Fox and Mellon both kind of
- 3:05hinted that maybe using the word drone is a way to, I don't know,
- 3:10manage the narrative, keep it from sounding too much like UAP,
- 3:13which has heavier implications. Yeah, unidentified anomalous
- 3:17phenomenon sounds a lot stranger than unidentified drone, even
- 3:20though they might be the same thing in this case.
- 3:22It's interesting how language is used there.
- 3:25But this isn't just a recent thing, which is crucial.
- 3:28Look at Jeffrey Nellie's testimony about Vandenberg Air
- 3:31Force Base. Right back in 2003 to 2005 he
- 3:34was USAF military police. And he described some absolutely
- 3:38incredible incidents. The big one was the Vandenberg
- 3:41Red Square. OK, tell us about that one.
- 3:43Sounds wild. Boeing contractor saw it.
- 3:45A huge, silent Red Square, maybe the size of a football field,
- 3:49just hovering over a missile defense.
- 3:51Installation A. Football ball field hovering
- 3:54silently. And Nellie claims there are
- 3:56official Air Force records of this, a blotter entry, names,
- 3:59contacts, stuff he says he's given to Congress, a ARO, the
- 4:02FBI. If that documentation exists.
- 4:05And that wasn't all. Nellie investigated other things
- 4:08there, too, like an object landing on the flight line,
- 4:11brightly lit, silent, and then just accelerating instantly into
- 4:15space. Gone.
- 4:16Instant acceleration like that defies physics as we know it.
- 4:20He also mentioned a triangular craft bigger than AC130
- 4:23transport plane hovering just 50 feet over.
- 4:26Another police officer Silent again. 50 feet.
- 4:29That's incredibly close for something that large and
- 4:31unknown. And maybe the weirdest 1 A house
- 4:34sized orb described as blue white kind of liquid looking
- 4:38hovering over a house on the base A.
- 4:40Liquid Orb. OK, now we're really pushing the
- 4:42boundaries. Nella described the whole
- 4:44experience as like inspiring, exciting, but also terrifying,
- 4:49and he stressed the need for the government to just be straight
- 4:51about this stuff. He mentioned other military
- 4:53witnesses too, ready to testify. And didn't these Vandenberg
- 4:55incidents happen around the same time as the Nimitz Tic Tac
- 4:58encounter? Roughly yeah. 2003, 2005 for
- 5:01Vandenberg, 2004 for the Tic tac.
- 5:03Makes you wonder if there was a cluster of activity then.
- 5:06Definitely raises questions about patterns, which leads us
- 5:09to the whole secrecy aspect. Joe mentioned talking to a
- 5:11general like 20 years ago. Yeah, and the general basically
- 5:14said, imagine the government admitting, hey, there are craft
- 5:17flying in our airspace. We don't know whose they are and
- 5:20we can't stop them. The potential for panic, loss of
- 5:23confidence. You can see why they'd hesitate.
- 5:27It's a political nightmare. Leaders need to project control,
- 5:30right? Admitting you're not in control
- 5:32of your own skies is a huge problem.
- 5:34It's a real catch 22 secretly breeds distrust, but maybe they
- 5:39feel disclosure is worse. Which ties right into James
- 5:41Fox's documentary, the program, and the whole David Grush
- 5:45situation. Absolutely, Grush, the former
- 5:47Intel officer testifying underoath to Congress.
- 5:50That was huge. Claiming there's a secret
- 5:52decades long crash retrieval program recovering non human
- 5:56craft. His testimony Underoath really
- 5:59shifted the conversation, didn't it?
- 6:01It brought a new level of seriousness, forced more
- 6:03congressional attention. And Fox said his own research,
- 6:07like 30 years of it, kind of lines up with what Grush is
- 6:11claiming. Yeah, he mentioned his film
- 6:12Moment of Contact about the Virginia incident in Brazil.
- 6:16Right Finding parallels between his field investigations and
- 6:19Grush's insider claims. It suggests Grush isn't just
- 6:22making things up out of the blue.
- 6:24There's potential corroboration from independent research into
- 6:27these alleged crash events. But what about the counter
- 6:30argument, The mindfuck theory that it's all just a cover for
- 6:34our own secret tech? Fox pushed back on that.
- 6:36He argued. How do you explain decades of
- 6:39consistent reports from all over the world long before we
- 6:43supposedly had this kind of tech?
- 6:44Think Project Blue. Book the Air Force's own
- 6:47investigation back in the day, documenting weird stuff, even
- 6:50close encounters. Exactly stuff that inspired the
- 6:52movie close Encounters and even further back, the Foo Fighters
- 6:55seen by pilots in World War 2. It suggests this phenomenon,
- 6:59whatever it is, has been around a while.
- 7:01OK, let's talk about another specific really weird case.
- 7:04Now let's test range 1994. Yeah, so apparently sensory data
- 7:09and camera footage picked up a UFO there.
- 7:12Fox has this footage in the program.
- 7:14And then just three days later, this encounter, right?
- 7:18Jason Sands, former military guy, he's with a convoy and they
- 7:21run into, well, a being. Describe the being.
- 7:25No ears, large eyes, That's the description.
- 7:28OK. And the communication.
- 7:29This is where it gets really strange.
- 7:31Sands claims it was telepathic. The being was looking for a
- 7:35specific metal tenellum, he called it.
- 7:38Tenellum never heard of it and the being just communicated this
- 7:43telepathically. That's the claim.
- 7:45After the communication, the being went back to a craft
- 7:48similar to the one filmed and took off.
- 7:50Wow, that's quite a story. And Fox.
- 7:51Adds that Sam's is willing to take a polygraph, testify
- 7:54Underoath apparently as his credentials were even checked
- 7:57out by Senate committees, Armed Services and Intelligence, so
- 8:00they took it seriously enough to vet him.
- 8:02That definitely adds weight, even if the story itself is hard
- 8:04to process. Shifting gears a bit, let's talk
- 8:07photos. The Scotland one.
- 8:09Yes, the Calvine photo, sometimes called that taken
- 8:12around 1990, shows a diamond shaped object, apparently with a
- 8:16Harrier jet in the background. And Nick Pope, who worked the
- 8:19Mod UFO desk, confirmed it's real.
- 8:22He did, and he also confirmed the Ministry of Defense
- 8:25basically buried it trying to make sure it never got out.
- 8:28So how did we end up seeing it? Persistence from journalist
- 8:31David Clarke. He tracked down the original RAF
- 8:35press officer, Craig Lindsay, who had kept a personal copy.
- 8:39If Lindsay hadn't done that, we might never have seen it.
- 8:42What does the photo actually show besides the objects in the
- 8:45jet? Well, the analysis suggests the
- 8:47Harrier wasn't just flying past. It looks like it was circling
- 8:50the object. Apparently there were other
- 8:52photos showing the jet in different positions but those.
- 8:55Vanished. Vanish.
- 8:56A recurring theme, it seems, hiding evidence.
- 8:58Which brings us back to the present day and the struggle for
- 9:01transparency. Fox talked about meeting the new
- 9:04head of ARO, John Kozlowski. Aro being the Pentagon's UAP
- 9:08office, what was that meeting like?
- 9:10Fox said Kozlowski was pretty candid, actually.
- 9:12After a background check, Kozlowski apparently told him,
- 9:15quote James, I can't part my hair without approval from the
- 9:18DoD and you can quote me on that.
- 9:20Wow, so even the head of the office feels constrained by the
- 9:23Department of Defense? Pretty much spells out the
- 9:25limits on transparency, doesn't it?
- 9:27Contrast sharply with the previous head, Sean Kirkpatrick,
- 9:31who many felt was just dismissive.
- 9:34So this all leads back to the politics of disclosure.
- 9:37It's complicated. Hugely.
- 9:39Think about the potential fallout, impact on religion,
- 9:42financial systems, the admission by governments that they well
- 9:46haven't been fully in control, or maybe haven't been entirely
- 9:50truthful. How do other countries handle
- 9:52this? You mentioned Russia maybe being
- 9:53more open in the past. Yeah, there have been periods
- 9:56where Russian officials or reports seemed more open, though
- 9:59who knows the full story now. China's approach is less clear
- 10:02publicly, but the focus right now seems to be on the US with
- 10:06these hearings and legislative pushes.
- 10:08There is momentum here, isn't there?
- 10:10Bipartisan efforts in Congress trying to force more information
- 10:13out. Definitely, but then you have
- 10:15the military and national security argument for secrecy.
- 10:19We can't let China or Russia get their hands on this potentially
- 10:22game changing technology if we've recovered some.
- 10:25You can see that logic especially when you hear the
- 10:27reported capabilities. Instant acceleration, hypersonic
- 10:32speeds without Sonic booms. Right, if that tech is real, you
- 10:36wouldn't want your adversaries getting it first.
- 10:38Of course, amid all this, you still have to filter out the
- 10:40noise, misidentifications, hoaxes.
- 10:42Yeah, that's always part of the challenge.
- 10:44Absolutely. Critical thinking is key, and
- 10:47not everyone buys into it like Elon Musk.
- 10:49Yeah, Rogan mentioned Musk seems pretty skeptical about the whole
- 10:52thing, Dismisses stuff like the Fravor tic Tac encounter.
- 10:55Which is interesting given his focus on advanced tech, but
- 10:58maybe his focus is purely terrestrial tech.
- 11:01Speaking of current events though, those recent drone
- 11:04incursions the Pentagon acknowledged.
- 11:06Yeah, Sabrina Singh, the spokeswoman, talking about
- 11:08unauthorized drones over Air Force bases Westminster near
- 11:12Trump's golf course, Joint Base Andrews.
- 11:15And the timing was weird, right around Christmas for the last
- 11:18three years. That's the report kind of
- 11:21strange pattern. And again, you see parallels,
- 11:23echoes of Vandenberg, even Phoenix Lights with descriptions
- 11:26of massive silent objects. The Stephenville, TX sighting in
- 11:302008 also had that massive object seen by cops and
- 11:33everything, followed by attempts to clamp down on the info.
- 11:36It's a pattern that keeps repeating.
- 11:38Let's talk about Phoenix Lights, specifically March 1997.
- 11:42That was huge. Massive, Literally thousands of
- 11:45witnesses across Arizona saw this giant V shaped or boomerang
- 11:49craft silent. A Governor Fife Symington saw it
- 11:53himself. And the official explanation was
- 11:56flares. Initially, yeah, flares from a
- 11:59military exercise miles away. But Symington, after leaving
- 12:02office, said no way. That wasn't flares.
- 12:04I saw craft. He felt it was definitely
- 12:06something else, something otherworldly.
- 12:08And there were reports of jet scrambled pilots shaken.
- 12:11Up and those stories of men in black types showing up,
- 12:13intimidating witnesses, supposedly confiscating footage
- 12:16from a news station. It all adds to the mystery and
- 12:19the feeling of a cover up. You hear first hand accounts
- 12:22like Stacey Rhodes and her daughter describing this
- 12:25enormous gun metal black thing right over them, totally silent.
- 12:30It's chilling. It really is these credible,
- 12:32often multiple witness accounts of something truly extraordinary
- 12:36happening. So despite all the history of
- 12:38secrecy and dismissal, there is this ongoing push now.
- 12:42Three open congressional hearings in three years?
- 12:45That's unprecedented, really. And you hear things like Senator
- 12:49Harry Reid's supposed advice to a president, Don't worry about
- 12:52your legacy, just deal with this.
- 12:53Shows the weight some people in power gave it and it's
- 12:55bipartisan now. Luna, Mace, Garcia, AOC on one
- 13:00side, Rubio rounds Schumer on the other.
- 13:02People across the spectrum saying we need answers.
- 13:04Which means it's important for people listening, for citizens
- 13:08to stay engaged and support those efforts, right?
- 13:10Keep the pressure on. Absolutely.
- 13:12Public interest fuels political will on issues like this.
- 13:15Where does Joe Rogan land in all this?
- 13:17He seems to go back and forth. Yeah, he embodies that tension.
- 13:21I think he's fascinated, open minded, talks about the
- 13:24compelling evidence, especially the tech aspects like the Tic
- 13:27Tacs flight characteristics. But he also pumps the brakes,
- 13:31considers terrestrial explanations, acknowledges the
- 13:34high weirdness factor. He brings up historical
- 13:36accounts, too. Ancient myths, Yeah.
- 13:38Could they be related? It's that constant weighing of
- 13:41evidence possibilities the technology reported, especially
- 13:44in cases like 2004, is just so hard to explain conventionally.
- 13:48So wrapping this up, the sheer amount of credible reports,
- 13:52recent and historical, it just leaves you with huge questions.
- 13:55Massive questions, are we looking at super advanced secret
- 13:59human tech or are we dealing with non human intelligence?
- 14:04Either way, the implications are just staggering.
- 14:06It demands serious attention, serious investigation.
- 14:09This push for transparency feels really important.
- 14:12Maybe a turning point. It could be so, you know, for
- 14:15everyone listening. Keep digging.
- 14:16Look into these cases yourself. Read the reports, listen to the
- 14:19witnesses where you can. Form your own informed opinions
- 14:21because it's conversation. It's definitely not over.
- 14:24Not by a long shot.
