- 1:53Speaker 1: thirty for that with Cameron Parker, Mike Harboll Harje and
- 1:57Speaker 1: the world's strongest man, Mark Henry. But the breaking news
- 2:02Speaker 1: out of today was one Daniel Jones. After getting paid
- 2:06Speaker 1: all of that money, Daniel Jones is now out as
- 2:11Speaker 1: the starting quarterback for the New York Football Giants. Let's
- 2:14Speaker 1: hit it. Number seven cut number seven, Daniel Jones. He
- 2:17Speaker 1: is no longer the quarterback for the Giants. This was
- 2:22Speaker 1: his goodbye press conference.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Let's see, the opportunity to play for the New York
- 2:25Speaker 2: Giants was truly a dream come true, and I'm extremely
- 2:28Speaker 2: grateful to the Mare and Tish families for the chance
- 2:31Speaker 2: to play here. The Giants are truly a first class organization,
- 2:34Speaker 2: and I have nothing but genuine respect and appreciation for
- 2:37Speaker 2: the people who have built it and who helped carry
- 2:39Speaker 2: on that tradition. I've met so many special people and
- 2:43Speaker 2: creative relationships that will truly last a lifetime. Thank you
- 2:46Speaker 2: to all my teammates, coaches, and staff. They've done so
- 2:49Speaker 2: much for me these past six years. There have been
- 2:52Speaker 2: some great times, but of course we all wish there
- 2:54Speaker 2: have been more of those. I take full responsibility for
- 2:57Speaker 2: my part and not bringing more wins. No one wanted
- 3:01Speaker 2: to win those win more games worse than me, and
- 3:04Speaker 2: I gave everything I had on the field and in
- 3:06Speaker 2: my preparation. Of course, this season has been disappointing for all,
- 3:11Speaker 2: and of course I wish I could have done more.
- 3:14Speaker 2: I'm one hundred percent accountable for my part. I did
- 3:16Speaker 2: not play well. I did not play well enough, consistently
- 3:19Speaker 2: enough to help the team get the results. The reality
- 3:24Speaker 2: of the NFL is it's hard to win games and
- 3:25Speaker 2: requires consistent performance from everyone involved. We didn't do that
- 3:30Speaker 2: well enough, so the idea to change something happens. And
- 3:33Speaker 2: I understand. I love the game, i love being part
- 3:37Speaker 2: of a team. I'm excited for the next opportunity and
- 3:40Speaker 2: know that there's a lot of good football in front
- 3:42Speaker 2: of me, and I'm excited about that.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Dale Jones will go down as one of the worst
- 3:45Speaker 1: quarterbacks in New York Giants' history. The move ends a
- 3:50Speaker 1: six year run. He was a number six overall pick
- 3:52Speaker 1: in twenty nineteen. He finishes with an the abysmal record
- 3:56Speaker 1: of twenty two forty four and one seventy touchdown to
- 4:00Speaker 1: go along with his forty seven interceptions. Now this all
- 4:04Speaker 1: comes after the Giants society to bench Daniel Jones today
- 4:09Speaker 1: or I should say correction this week Monday, in favor
- 4:12Speaker 1: of Tommy DeVito. That should have been the writing on
- 4:14Speaker 1: the wall that we knew that this was going to
- 4:17Speaker 1: be the end of Daniel Jones. To put a cherry
- 4:19Speaker 1: on top. However, we saw Daniel Jones yesterday playing safety
- 4:23Speaker 1: for the scout team. That is right, you had your
- 4:26Speaker 1: number four string quarterback playing safety on the scout team.
- 4:30Speaker 1: That tells you all you need to know. Now the
- 4:33Speaker 1: real question becomes, where does he go from here? I
- 4:37Speaker 1: was very much hoping that we would get the funniest
- 4:39Speaker 1: result on Thursday Night Football, when we could have Cooper
- 4:42Speaker 1: Rush versus Daniel Jones in a Thanksgiving game, when everybody's
- 4:48Speaker 1: supposably tuned in for the game, that we could end
- 4:51Speaker 1: up seeing Daniel Jones on primetime. Not the case. He's
- 4:54Speaker 1: now cut from the Giants. So now the second funniest
- 4:57Speaker 1: thing could happen. The Dallas Cowboy have made a lot
- 5:01Speaker 1: of head scratching moves in their time. This would be
- 5:05Speaker 1: the funniest move they could possibly make, which is signing
- 5:08Speaker 1: Daniel Jones. But if they were to do that, it
- 5:10Speaker 1: would cost some team, could be the Cowboys, could be
- 5:13Speaker 1: somebody else. It would cost them twelve million dollars to
- 5:17Speaker 1: have him for the remainder of the season. If you remember,
- 5:20Speaker 1: he signed a four year contract back in twenty twenty
- 5:22Speaker 1: three for sixty million dollars. I always said the best
- 5:29Speaker 1: job possible is to be a disgraced former college football coach,
- 5:34Speaker 1: because you get the payout and you get to kind
- 5:35Speaker 1: of do whatever you want to do. Dane Jones might
- 5:37Speaker 1: have the second best job now because he doesn't have
- 5:39Speaker 1: to go get hit, he doesn't have to go to practice,
- 5:43Speaker 1: doesn't have to learn a playbook. He's gonna get paid
- 5:45Speaker 1: millions of dollars to essentially just hang out. And a
- 5:48Speaker 1: lot of people were kind of throwing some dirt on
- 5:51Speaker 1: Dale Jones's name. ESPN made their joke. Steve they Spent
- 5:54Speaker 1: had his jokes. They said that the entire press conference
- 5:57Speaker 1: could have taken sixty seconds. Hey, guys, already, I got
- 6:00Speaker 1: paid all that money and stunk it up. I went
- 6:03Speaker 1: through and I looked who is the worst quarterback in
- 6:07Speaker 1: Giants' history. I've looked high, I've looked low. It's not
- 6:11Speaker 1: Scott Berner, who is Phil Simms backup in eighty two
- 6:15Speaker 1: and eighty three who threw eleven interceptions in six starts.
- 6:20Speaker 1: It might be Craig Morton, who played a few games
- 6:24Speaker 1: for the Giants ended up throwing twenty touchdowns with thirty
- 6:27Speaker 1: six interceptions. I'm still gonna go on a limb and say,
- 6:32Speaker 1: Eli Manning. I made the case for him to go
- 6:34Speaker 1: into the Hall of Fame yesterday as a first ballot
- 6:36Speaker 1: Hall of Famer because of all of the incredible moments
- 6:40Speaker 1: he brought to the city of New York with a
- 6:41Speaker 1: helmet catch and knocking off the Pats and everything else.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Those last couple of seasons were abysmal to watch, all right.
- 6:50Speaker 1: So Texas men's basketball yesterday they take on Syracuse. They
- 6:54Speaker 1: had a big one in that game. Trey Johnson led
- 6:58Speaker 1: the way for the Longhorns and scoring sixteen points along
- 7:01Speaker 1: with Arthur Kuma, who had sixteen as well. Kuma had
- 7:06Speaker 1: better game, sixteen points on six to eleven shooting, but
- 7:09Speaker 1: the story turned her into Tramian Mark, who we did
- 7:12Speaker 1: not know if he was going to play or not,
- 7:14Speaker 1: if he was going to get his first games under
- 7:18Speaker 1: his belt as a Longhorn, and he did. He got
- 7:20Speaker 1: his first shot up yesterday, cut eleven. This is his
- 7:23Speaker 1: first bucket. Craig Way on the call to Julian Larry
- 7:26Speaker 1: back to glooma double team to John Tremont Mark. His
- 7:29Speaker 1: first shot is a long horn is a three pointer,
- 7:31Speaker 1: and Tremon Mark berries the three. Now. Mark didn't play
- 7:35Speaker 1: a lot less yesterday, finished with six points, two to
- 7:37Speaker 1: five shooting from the field in nineteen minutes of action,
- 7:41Speaker 1: but The big takeaway from this game was the way
- 7:44Speaker 1: that the Longhorns were able to rebound the basketball twenty
- 7:47Speaker 1: seven total. Yeah, well, let's see thirty five total rebounds
- 7:52Speaker 1: in this game out rebound Syracuse that had a larger,
- 7:55Speaker 1: more dominating presence down low. Now, I thought, and a
- 7:59Speaker 1: lot of people thought, I think that Texas and Texas
- 8:03Speaker 1: Tech could end up playing each other tonight in the
- 8:06Speaker 1: Legends Classic. Not the case. Saint Joseph's barely knocks off
- 8:11Speaker 1: Texas Tech yesterday seventy eight to seventy seven. So that
- 8:15Speaker 1: is the team that Texas will be facing off tonight,
- 8:18Speaker 1: eight thirty pre am tip, eight pm pre game right
- 8:21Speaker 1: here on Sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone. So
- 8:24Speaker 1: we'll be curious to see how that one goes from
- 8:26Speaker 1: the Barclays Center. It should be a pretty good one.
- 8:30Speaker 1: I'm hoping that it's a good one, at least because
- 8:32Speaker 1: Craig Way has been living it up in New York City.
- 8:35Speaker 1: We'll talk to him in about an hour. Coming up
- 8:37Speaker 1: next Longhorn Weekly with Coach Sark. We have a great
- 8:39Speaker 1: interview that Roger Wallas was able to get yesterday previewing
- 8:44Speaker 1: the Kentucky game. This Saturday. You're not going to miss it.
- 8:47Speaker 1: We're gonna come back with more in a moment. Andrew
- 8:49Speaker 1: Zimbile filling in for the legendary Craigway on The Craigway
- 8:52Speaker 1: Show Next on sports Radio AM thirteen hundred The Zone
