- 0:00Speaker 1: I'm not grabbing my pearls. I liked it. I liked it.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I liked it. The kisses were eighty out of ten
- 0:04Speaker 1: for me. Wow, they were hot.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Hey, everybody, welcome to Girl's Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast.
- 0:25Speaker 2: I'm Megan and I'm a lifelong Hallmark movie fan.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I'm Wendy, but you can call me Aunt Doty. I mean,
- 0:32Speaker 1: if you know you now you. I don't know if
- 0:34Speaker 1: the Hallmark listeners even get the reference here. It's the boot.
- 0:38Speaker 1: It's the frickin' boot and the crutches and the scooter. Yeah.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I could just have played Aunt Doty in this movie.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Indeed, today we're discussing Picture of Her, which originally aired
- 0:50Speaker 2: on Saturday, March twenty fifth on the Hallmark Channel. If
- 0:54Speaker 2: you want to connect with us outside of the podcast,
- 0:56Speaker 2: we would love for you to follow us on Instagram,
- 0:59Speaker 2: and if you're not missing out, we are both at
- 1:02Speaker 2: Girls Gone Hallmark and.
- 1:04Speaker 1: At Megan and Wendy. You can also jump into our
- 1:08Speaker 1: Facebook group at Girls Gone Hallmark. Is it at Girls

- 1:16Speaker 1: It's gonna come up. I will also leave a link
- 1:18Speaker 1: in the show notes let's talk Hallmark for a minute. Yeah,
- 1:21Speaker 1: I have some holiday movie news already. Yeah, tell me. So.
- 1:27Speaker 2: We have a Hallmark Christmas movie titled Christmas Goals filming
- 1:33Speaker 2: in Colonna, British Columbia that stars Kevin McGarry and Kim Matula. Oh,
- 1:39Speaker 2: we have another movie filming in Connecticut being directed by
- 1:43Speaker 2: Dustin Reikert. We don't have a lot of information about that,
- 1:46Speaker 2: but some photos that were shared by one Sleepy Kittie
- 1:48Speaker 2: Pot include mister Michael Rady in them, so it would
- 1:52Speaker 2: appear that we're gonna get our wish of more Michael Rady.
- 1:56Speaker 1: That's amazing. I'm super excited to see him in another movie.
- 2:01Speaker 2: And finally, Hallmark went mainstream this week with a engine
- 2:04Speaker 2: on a show you and I both love one ted Lasso.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Yes, I saw somebody in our Facebook group talked about it,
- 2:13Speaker 1: which included a ted Lasso spoiler, and I was like, oh, man,
- 2:18Speaker 1: I haven't started the season yet. Oh I don't even
- 2:21Speaker 1: remember the spoiler because Megan just speed reads but without
- 2:25Speaker 1: catching all the things. So I've seen the show. So
- 2:27Speaker 1: you've watched the new season? Yeah, Oh, we haven't started it,
- 2:31Speaker 1: only two episodes. We're waiting we need because we like
- 2:33Speaker 1: to watch them, like back to back to back and
- 2:35Speaker 1: back to back, so we like to stock up a
- 2:38Speaker 1: little bit. Yeah, it's only two.
- 2:39Speaker 2: It was kind of a bummer because typically when they
- 2:42Speaker 2: launched a new show, you would at least get the
- 2:43Speaker 2: first two, and it was one.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Because Apple TV knows that people are just chomping at
- 2:48Speaker 1: the bit for Ted Lasso. So yeah, so the line was.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Hallmark Christmas movies are films that feature women from the
- 2:54Speaker 2: big city fallen in love with their childhood crushes. It's
- 2:57Speaker 2: usually some fellow that owns a Christmas tree farm, sometimes
- 3:00Speaker 2: also Santa Claus or prints. They suck, but they're great,
- 3:02Speaker 2: but they also mostly suck, but they're also kind of great.
- 3:05Speaker 1: They're good with the sound offs. They're good with this
- 3:08Speaker 1: sound off. Oh my gosh, let's talk about what's been
- 3:12Speaker 1: happening on Instagram. Well, we launched our King of Hallmark
- 3:18Speaker 1: March Madness esque movie not movie. Bracket, guy bracket, Dude bracket,
- 3:25Speaker 1: dude bracket. It's been wild bananas non stop over there. Yeah.
- 3:33Speaker 1: It blew up it, yeah, like too much. More like
- 3:37Speaker 1: I can't handle it, Like I hadn't. I shut down
- 3:39Speaker 1: the other night, I was like, Megan, you have to
- 3:42Speaker 1: take over. I can't do it anymore. Just so many dms. Yeah,
- 3:48Speaker 1: so so many dams and hey, like it's great, we
- 3:52Speaker 1: love it. It just took me by surprise a little bit.
- 3:55Speaker 1: I agree.
- 3:55Speaker 2: I was a little surprised. And whenever you do something
- 3:58Speaker 2: like this, they're you know, there's a learning curve for
- 4:01Speaker 2: some people all but the engagement was amazing. Thank you
- 4:05Speaker 2: to everyone who participated and who shared. As of the
- 4:08Speaker 2: recording of this episode, we have not crowned a winner,
- 4:12Speaker 2: but as of the airing of this episode, we will
- 4:15Speaker 2: be on the final hours of voting.
- 4:18Speaker 1: For the top two. Right, so if you still want
- 4:20Speaker 1: to like get your vote in there, hop it over
- 4:23Speaker 1: to girls, go on homework on Instagram and our Instagram
- 4:25Speaker 1: stories and see if you can still vote. Yeah. Yeah,
- 4:28Speaker 1: it's been wild, right, bananas beyond, Like we did something
- 4:33Speaker 1: like this around Christmas time with the countdown to Christmas movies,
- 4:36Speaker 1: but this has been the fandoms come hard for the
- 4:39Speaker 1: men of Hallmark. Yeah, I can appreciate their what's the
- 4:43Speaker 1: word I'm looking for? Intensity? Yeah, I can appreciate it. Yeah,
- 4:48Speaker 1: I just want it to be clear, like it's nothing,
- 4:50Speaker 1: it's not personal to us, you know what I mean, Like,
- 4:53Speaker 1: we're not trying to take anybody down. We're not trying
- 4:55Speaker 1: to put these two like fan favorites against each other.
- 4:59Speaker 1: Like it's it's all in good fun all that.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Someone did comment, oh, well, your number one seeds are
- 5:05Speaker 2: in the top four. I couldn't tell if it was, like,
- 5:09Speaker 2: how did that happen? Well, it happened because they were
- 5:12Speaker 2: the number one seeds for a reason. You wouldn't be
- 5:14Speaker 2: that surprised to see the number one seed in March
- 5:16Speaker 2: Madness basketball make it to the final flour.
- 5:20Speaker 1: So there's been some questions if we were going to
- 5:22Speaker 1: do this for a like a women's bracket. Didn't we
- 5:26Speaker 1: talk about this last week? I guess we did, but
- 5:28Speaker 1: I don't know if we came to a conclusion on it.
- 5:31Speaker 1: I think the answer is no, Okay, we talked. It
- 5:34Speaker 1: just feels different. We have another fun bracket idea. I
- 5:38Speaker 1: also had another idea. Oh good, oh good. I won't
- 5:41Speaker 1: share it today. I'll tell you later. Yeah. I just
- 5:44Speaker 1: don't want to pit women against women. Agree. I think
- 5:48Speaker 1: that's what it comes down to. And I had this
- 5:51Speaker 1: conversation with my husband last night, and he's like well,
- 5:53Speaker 1: why is it okay to do it with the men?
- 5:55Speaker 1: And I'm like, I don't know, I know what this
- 5:57Speaker 1: conversation I don't feels different, it just does. Okay, So
- 6:05Speaker 1: stay tuned over there. Let's move on to a picture
- 6:08Speaker 1: of her with a synopsis. All right, Beth unwittingly becomes
- 6:12Speaker 1: the subject of an award winning magazine cover and goes
- 6:15Speaker 1: on a quest to uncover the true identity of the
- 6:18Speaker 1: mystery photographer who snapped her photo. Starring Rhann and Fish
- 6:23Speaker 1: and Tyler Hines, award winning I have so many problems
- 6:28Speaker 1: with that, That's what the synopsis says. Award winning magazine's
- 6:32Speaker 1: cover is award winning magazine's cover. The magazine itself is
- 6:39Speaker 1: award winning. Yes, I got you, Yes, I have thoughts
- 6:42Speaker 1: about that. Oh me too.
- 6:45Speaker 2: Well, of course, this movie stars one Tyler Hines. He's
- 6:49Speaker 2: been in a quite a few Hallmark movies, but his
- 6:52Speaker 2: very first was It's Christmas Eve starring Leanne Rimes. And
- 6:57Speaker 2: he says that when he was asked to do that movie,
- 6:59Speaker 2: he knows that she sings, and he was like, am
- 7:01Speaker 2: I going to be asked to sing? And They're like, no, sir,
- 7:03Speaker 2: And see he was all in because he doesn't sing,
- 7:05Speaker 2: apparently not.
- 7:07Speaker 1: When when did that come out? How long has he
- 7:09Speaker 1: been on the Hallmark channel twenty and eighteen?
- 7:11Speaker 2: Maybe that's it's Christmas Ease Hallmark two and eighteen.
- 7:16Speaker 1: I was right get out. I honestly thought it's been
- 7:19Speaker 1: a lot longer than that, considering how many fans he has.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Someone said that Andrew Walker was the guy who got
- 7:29Speaker 2: Tyler Hyanes into Hallmark.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Is that true? I don't know.
- 7:32Speaker 2: I can't corroborate that. But they are related by marriage,
- 7:35Speaker 2: Andrew Walker's wife Becauseandrew Troy is Tyler Hines's cousin.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Oh and is that just coincidence or do they get
- 7:42Speaker 1: together like at family functions, Like did they find this
- 7:45Speaker 1: out like some DNA tests and they're like, oh yo,
- 7:48Speaker 1: we're related. Hmm. That's cute. Me thinks those two are
- 7:54Speaker 1: going to go up against each other and the final
- 7:56Speaker 1: two championship. I'd be shocked if they didn't shocked. So
- 7:59Speaker 1: that's really funny. This was filmed in Vancouver, Canada. I
- 8:04Speaker 1: read in an interview on Just Jared that rhiannon Fish
- 8:09Speaker 1: talked about how cold it was while they were filming
- 8:11Speaker 1: this movie. Yeah, and that the crew had built these
- 8:14Speaker 1: like covers to cover the actors and the cameraman to
- 8:20Speaker 1: block out like the snowy weather that the wows they
- 8:24Speaker 1: could have the La sun. Yeah, I guess, isn't that especially.
- 8:28Speaker 1: I think when they were doing those water scenes it
- 8:31Speaker 1: was really really cold.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Well those looked cold because you mean in Washington, Yeah,
- 8:37Speaker 2: I mean Pacific Northwest. I think it's okay that those
- 8:40Speaker 2: those looked cold to me, they looked gray and cold.
- 8:44Speaker 1: But I feel like it's like that all the time.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Well maybe they did see I was assuming it was
- 8:48Speaker 1: those scenes, but maybe it was like just the sunny
- 8:52Speaker 1: l like what was supposed to be the sunny El
- 8:54Speaker 1: La scenes, and they just had were like blasting them
- 8:56Speaker 1: with like camera lights and you know whatever, just to
- 8:59Speaker 1: look like it was sunning California.
- 9:02Speaker 2: This movie was directed by Michael Robinson. He has seventy
- 9:06Speaker 2: eight directing credits, including Tyler Hines' movie An Unexpected Christmas
- 9:09Speaker 2: And it was always.
- 9:11Speaker 1: You Apparently that's the fan favorite. It was always you.
- 9:14Speaker 1: We reviewed that, do you remember, Oh, yeah, we liked it.
- 9:19Speaker 1: I liked it more than you did. Yeah. That's when
- 9:21Speaker 1: I was like really bothered by his hair and I
- 9:24Speaker 1: couldn't see past like The Long Hair, so maybe.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Well that is also another movie where you've got a
- 9:31Speaker 2: woman who is in a relationship with another man.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Oh see, I don't remember the details. I believe she's
- 9:36Speaker 1: engaged to his brother. Oh. This was written by Donald Davenport,
- 9:43Speaker 1: who has just a handful of writing credits. His last
- 9:45Speaker 1: was from twenty twelve and it was called Hell and
- 9:48Speaker 1: Mister Fudge. This actually was co written. Really yeah. According
- 9:54Speaker 1: to IMDb, that's the only one that's showing like a
- 9:56Speaker 1: writing credit, but imb he didn't even credit the director.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Jeff Wood is the other writer, and Jeff would produced
- 10:09Speaker 1: Hell and Mister Fudge, so those two know each other somehow, Okay. Great.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Rhann and Fish co stars in this movie. She has
- 10:16Speaker 2: twenty one acting credits, including on Hallmark, Nikki and Nora's
- 10:19Speaker 2: Sister Sluice, and the Splash of Love, as well as
- 10:22Speaker 2: Science Seal Delivered The Twenty Seven Hour Day. She's definitely
- 10:25Speaker 2: a homewark supporting actress who's been elevated to a lead role.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Do you enjoy her as a lead actress? Yes? I
- 10:33Speaker 1: thought she and Tyler had great chemistry. Me too. Samantha
- 10:36Speaker 1: Ferris plays Aunt Doty.
- 10:37Speaker 2: She has eighty five acting credits, including movies like The
- 10:39Speaker 2: Eight Gifts of Hanukah, Garage Sdale Mysteries plus Deep Cut,
- 10:43Speaker 2: twenty four episodes of The forty four Hundred, which is
- 10:45Speaker 2: a sci fi series Wendy would hate, but my husband
- 10:47Speaker 2: and I loved. Oh it's about forty four hund people
- 10:49Speaker 2: who are abducted by aliens and then returned to Earth.
- 10:53Speaker 2: And finally, one fun little note, Jason Farrakawa plays hero
- 10:57Speaker 2: at the Farmer's Market. He also directed last week's Yeah,
- 11:00Speaker 2: A Winning Team.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Let's move on to first impressions. Is Tyler Hines playing
- 11:04Speaker 1: Tyler Hines in this movie? I mean, I feel like,
- 11:08Speaker 1: right down to the clothing choices.
- 11:11Speaker 2: My first impression is I've never looked that good in
- 11:13Speaker 2: a candid photo.
- 11:15Speaker 1: Oh god, no, you're right. The photo of her was stunning,
- 11:20Speaker 1: and I was like, of me, it would have been
- 11:22Speaker 1: like yep, and I just made like a horrible double
- 11:26Speaker 1: chin face. So yeah.
- 11:29Speaker 2: When I got married, the photo journalistic photography style was
- 11:33Speaker 2: all the rage, and I remember talking to my photographer
- 11:36Speaker 2: about it because I didn't know anything about anything, but
- 11:38Speaker 2: you know, you hear something, You're like, that's what I want,
- 11:40Speaker 2: and he was like, look, we will catch so.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Many photos of the day he goes.
- 11:45Speaker 2: But if you do not have a list of staged photos,
- 11:50Speaker 2: you're going to be so disappointed when you get to
- 11:52Speaker 2: the end of the night and you're like, I don't
- 11:53Speaker 2: have a photo with this person.
- 11:54Speaker 1: I don't like the way I look in that person.
- 11:56Speaker 1: You need a photo where you can know you're having
- 11:58Speaker 1: your photo taken. Us recently looked at my wedding photos,
- 12:02Speaker 1: which also fell into the photojournalism category. It was just
- 12:06Speaker 1: all the rage in two thousand and two thousand and
- 12:08Speaker 1: one and Whenever You Got married two thousand and five,
- 12:12Speaker 1: and some of the pictures are real bad, like really
- 12:16Speaker 1: be on the dance floor and I'm like, god, I
- 12:18Speaker 1: look like a sweaty mess. I'm like, what why did
- 12:21Speaker 1: I choose this photo? Terrible? All right? What did we
- 12:25Speaker 1: like about this movie? So you said it earlier. I
- 12:28Speaker 1: really thought the chemistry between Tyler Hines and Rihanna Fish
- 12:31Speaker 1: was pretty exceptional. Yeah, I was floored by the amount
- 12:35Speaker 1: of kissing that they had throughout this movie. And not
- 12:38Speaker 1: that I'm saying I didn't like it. I liked it,
- 12:40Speaker 1: like it was great. Like I'm tired of the we
- 12:44Speaker 1: have to wait to the very last second kiss in
- 12:46Speaker 1: a whole back movie. That doesn't feel realistic to me. Yes,
- 12:49Speaker 1: so give me kisses throughout. At one point I'm certain
- 12:52Speaker 1: I saw tongue. Yeah, did you? I mean it felt
- 12:56Speaker 1: that way. It was hotw tongue. It was. It was
- 12:59Speaker 1: steamy for a Hallmark movie. I thought, I'm not grabbing
- 13:01Speaker 1: my pearls. I liked it. I liked it. I liked it.
- 13:05Speaker 1: The kisses were eighty out of ten for me. Wow,
- 13:08Speaker 1: they were hot. They were great, I agree. Prior to
- 13:11Speaker 1: this movie airing, Rhiann and Fish had shared it behind
- 13:15Speaker 1: the scenes photos. She and Tyler are like huddled around
- 13:17Speaker 1: a heater and there's nothing objectively steamy about that photo,
- 13:23Speaker 1: like they're not touching, But I felt like in that
- 13:26Speaker 1: photo just something about it. I was like, Oh, these
- 13:30Speaker 1: two are like for each other. I was wondering, you know,
- 13:34Speaker 1: how people have like on set relationships because they're together
- 13:38Speaker 1: for so long and these movies, you know, are like
- 13:41Speaker 1: a three week turnaround. Do the actors, those who are
- 13:48Speaker 1: not married, hopefully hooking up with each other? I mean,
- 13:53Speaker 1: how do you mean will you meet people at work?
- 13:54Speaker 1: I would imagine it's happening right. There was something very
- 13:59Speaker 1: obvious between these two thinks, so too, I was like,
- 14:02Speaker 1: I want I didn't I don't want to take away
- 14:04Speaker 1: from their acting this I wanted to say. Yeah. Last week,
- 14:08Speaker 1: when we were discussing the cases of Mystery Lane, we
- 14:11Speaker 1: talked about a lot of the dialogue, and you wonder
- 14:13Speaker 1: if in some of those scenes Paul Campbell had ad
- 14:15Speaker 1: libed some of those. I saw a thread.
- 14:18Speaker 2: On Twitter that I wanted to point out because I
- 14:20Speaker 2: thought it was a really interesting It was from Linda Holmes,
- 14:23Speaker 2: who's a writer, and she said, oftentimes when there's great dialogue,
- 14:28Speaker 2: people will say, oh, did the actor ad lip that?
- 14:31Speaker 2: And she said, what I think we forget is, and
- 14:34Speaker 2: I'm paraphrasing her, is it's an actor's job to show
- 14:37Speaker 2: up and make you believe that those lines are things
- 14:40Speaker 2: that they would naturally say they're not delivering a line,
- 14:43Speaker 2: And it's the writer's job to write great lines. So
- 14:47Speaker 2: when we say things like that, it's like.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Well a writer couldn't have come up. Yeah. So she said,
- 14:52Speaker 1: just believe that the actor is that good at their
- 14:54Speaker 1: job and the writer is that good at their job.
- 14:56Speaker 2: I thought that was an interesting perspective. So it is
- 14:59Speaker 2: perhaps they're just fantastic actors, but.
- 15:02Speaker 1: I think it was hot.
- 15:04Speaker 2: It was I liked the grounding force of Aunt Dotie.
- 15:07Speaker 2: I have something to say about her my wish for section.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Oh, it's not a negative. I just want to dive
- 15:12Speaker 1: into it.
- 15:13Speaker 2: But I thought she was a nice instead of the
- 15:16Speaker 2: best friend role, we get this kind of like advisory
- 15:19Speaker 2: ant roll, and I really liked her.
- 15:22Speaker 1: In that role.
- 15:23Speaker 2: I thought she was obviously very loving towards Beth, but
- 15:26Speaker 2: she also was kind of like a.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Firm, straight shooter.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Yes, and I really liked that she wasn't just feeding
- 15:34Speaker 2: her what she wanted to hear.
- 15:36Speaker 1: And same goes for Jake's character too. Yeah, she was.
- 15:40Speaker 1: She was firm but loving with them. I agree. She
- 15:44Speaker 1: is on my liked list. Goo Samantha Feris. I enjoyed
- 15:47Speaker 1: her quite a bit in this movie. Not because I
- 15:49Speaker 1: felt like a kismet with her, but she was not
- 15:54Speaker 1: just because your boot buddies, because we're boot betties. I
- 15:57Speaker 1: enjoyed her quite a bit. Okay, So in this movie,
- 16:01Speaker 1: one thing I really liked was that Jake goes to
- 16:05Speaker 1: Beth in Washington at the end of the movie. Right, Yeah,
- 16:08Speaker 1: he goes seeking her out. Of course, like there's this
- 16:11Speaker 1: whole like where do I find her? Like kind of
- 16:15Speaker 1: this thread like how did they find her? Where do
- 16:18Speaker 1: I find her? I'm like, Yo, what's the Internet? Like
- 16:22Speaker 1: you can find to anybody, right, But I like that
- 16:26Speaker 1: he went to seek her out. And what I really
- 16:29Speaker 1: liked about this movie is that they have this conversation
- 16:35Speaker 1: and she comes to the realization that she is meant
- 16:37Speaker 1: to be in Washington State and he's good with that,
- 16:42Speaker 1: and he uproots his life, yeah, to stay there, which
- 16:46Speaker 1: is such a opposite of everything we've always gotten on Hallmark.
- 16:50Speaker 1: That the woman uproots her entire life for the dude.
- 16:53Speaker 1: It was a nice twist that I appreciated and liked
- 16:59Speaker 1: and was like, But then again, like his character, Jake's
- 17:02Speaker 1: just like free spirit. I'm a free lancer type photographer.
- 17:06Speaker 1: There's nothing tying him to Los Angeles. Yeah, and he
- 17:10Speaker 1: wants to break away from that Shutterbot celeb scene, right,
- 17:13Speaker 1: So like that's very convenient. Yeah, it worked out for
- 17:16Speaker 1: both of them. He's not like leaving his family and
- 17:19Speaker 1: leaving his job and leaving that, you know. Yeah, so
- 17:22Speaker 1: we'll take away where we can get, Yes, exactly, one
- 17:25Speaker 1: scene I kind of really liked is the I'm embarrassed
- 17:29Speaker 1: scene when he's taking photos of her and she's like, oh,
- 17:32Speaker 1: she like kind of gets the ink because she stops him,
- 17:35Speaker 1: and just the way it's handled is so nice.
- 17:37Speaker 2: He like immediately stops and then in the rest of
- 17:40Speaker 2: that scene, like they don't really make a big deal
- 17:41Speaker 2: of it.
- 17:42Speaker 1: They move on. But in the rest of that scene
- 17:44Speaker 1: he's very respectful of her boundaries, like he's going to
- 17:48Speaker 1: show her how to use the camera, like, oh, I'm
- 17:49Speaker 1: going to teach you how to golf. That moment, oh god,
- 17:51Speaker 1: that was a hot blood.
- 17:54Speaker 2: But before he does it, he doesn't just like immediately
- 17:56Speaker 2: get in her space.
- 17:57Speaker 1: He asks her for permission. Yeah, you know, really natural way.
- 18:01Speaker 1: I thought those two scenes played really nicely together. My
- 18:04Speaker 1: last thing that I liked about this I really enjoyed
- 18:07Speaker 1: Rhiann and Fish overall, and I like her as a lead.
- 18:11Speaker 1: There were some acting choices that bothered me a little bit,
- 18:14Speaker 1: but I think it's a me problem. But overall I
- 18:18Speaker 1: liked her. I think she's stunning. I think she's a
- 18:20Speaker 1: good actress. I like I would watch her in other things.
- 18:23Speaker 1: Let's talk what we wished for Okay, Well, because I
- 18:26Speaker 1: talked about Aunt Dotie, I wanted to talk about this
- 18:28Speaker 1: in my wish Adody just needed to slow her role
- 18:30Speaker 1: a little bit with her, Like, that's not a scooter
- 18:33Speaker 1: pun is it? She? You know? With her? What are
- 18:37Speaker 1: your intentions with our girl? They haven't even kissed at
- 18:39Speaker 1: this point. M yeah. Oh she's a little defensive, just
- 18:43Speaker 1: because Beth had been hurt before by some like Battie
- 18:48Speaker 1: in Los Angeles at earlier. I know, I know I
- 18:54Speaker 1: was thinking that too, Like as a parent, would I
- 18:56Speaker 1: be like, like my daughter brought some due to home.
- 18:59Speaker 1: I'd be like, you'll be careful. I don't think so
- 19:02Speaker 1: right away. No, No, I want that person to like me. Yeah,
- 19:05Speaker 1: you want to develop a relationship, Yeah, exactly. A few
- 19:11Speaker 1: things hard to believe in this movie, Yeah, such as
- 19:17Speaker 1: best photo going viral. I'm quoting viral. Guys. First of all,
- 19:24Speaker 1: it's on some to me, like on a magazine that
- 19:29Speaker 1: you find in a free stand, like a like the
- 19:32Speaker 1: O C Weekly something like that. Yes, like it's it's
- 19:37Speaker 1: basically full of advertisements and it's a local magazine, right,
- 19:43Speaker 1: So I I had some problems with like, oh, now
- 19:47Speaker 1: her photos on the front, which is great, fine, whatever,
- 19:50Speaker 1: But now she's like this instant celebrity where like people
- 19:54Speaker 1: are taking selfies with her on the street after the
- 19:57Speaker 1: magazine hits the free newsstand. Thousand percent. I was bothered
- 20:03Speaker 1: by that. Now, would it be more believable to me
- 20:06Speaker 1: if this was like an internet magazine or a meme
- 20:11Speaker 1: or something where there could be a viral moment of
- 20:15Speaker 1: this person. Yes, that I would find more believable when
- 20:19Speaker 1: they do have a web presence.
- 20:21Speaker 2: So listener Mike sent in his thoughts on this movie,
- 20:24Speaker 2: and one of the things he said was like, Oh,
- 20:26Speaker 2: I don't live in LA, but I found that moment
- 20:28Speaker 2: where they're all taking selfies with her unbelievable. Well, it's
- 20:31Speaker 2: even less believable in LAM for sure.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Nobody cares yeah, and they're all trying to do the
- 20:37Speaker 1: same thing at LA stand moment, I was like, Eh,
- 20:40Speaker 1: here's what I think.
- 20:42Speaker 2: This photo isn't an iconic photo like the kiss taken
- 20:46Speaker 2: in Time Square on VJ Day.
- 20:48Speaker 1: You've known the photo where I'm talking about.
- 20:52Speaker 2: It's a beautiful photo. She's a beautiful woman. If someone
- 20:54Speaker 2: took that photo of me, I'd blow it up and
- 20:56Speaker 2: hang it out.
- 20:57Speaker 1: Of my fireplace.
- 20:59Speaker 2: But with the internet, photos like that are a little
- 21:03Speaker 2: bit of dime a dozen beautiful women. Was it like, oh,
- 21:08Speaker 2: we're seeing into her soul, she's having this private moment.
- 21:11Speaker 2: Maybe I like that story that he had captured.
- 21:14Speaker 1: This moment of her.
- 21:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I just wasn't so sure that I bought the
- 21:19Speaker 2: virality of it all. They want you on this talk show,
- 21:22Speaker 2: they want you in this ad campaign. I agree, the
- 21:25Speaker 2: meme comment is great, Like something else needed to happen.
- 21:28Speaker 2: It needed to be more about just the photo.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Right, I'm not saying like this has never happened. And
- 21:33Speaker 1: the incident that comes to mind is when Pam Anderson
- 21:38Speaker 1: was seen at a hockey game and she was like
- 21:41Speaker 1: in the audience, in the crowd at a hockey game,
- 21:43Speaker 1: and they put her up on the big screen and
- 21:46Speaker 1: then from there she was like asked to be in
- 21:49Speaker 1: a campaign for like a beer thing and blah blah blah.
- 21:51Speaker 1: This is like a million years ago. And if you
- 21:53Speaker 1: have known this recently watched her documentary on Netflix, you
- 21:56Speaker 1: would understand my reference here. But like, so it does
- 22:01Speaker 1: happen when like some persons picked out of obscurity. Sure, right,
- 22:07Speaker 1: I just didn't buy it for this movie I'm gonna say,
- 22:10Speaker 1: like it cannot happen. I don't disagree. I agree with
- 22:12Speaker 1: both your points there.
- 22:14Speaker 2: That being said, the conflict about him having taken the
- 22:19Speaker 2: photo accidentally submitting it, she ends up on the cover.
- 22:22Speaker 1: She's mad that he lied. I didn't think we needed
- 22:26Speaker 1: any of that. I think the conflict about Jake being
- 22:31Speaker 1: shutter bought and not being forthright about that, not about
- 22:34Speaker 1: that he had taken his picture, but about she knows
- 22:37Speaker 1: him as this photographer who captures beautiful moments of people,
- 22:41Speaker 1: of landscapes. He really likes to see things through that lens.
- 22:45Speaker 1: But really where he probably makes most of his money
- 22:49Speaker 1: is in these salacious celebrity photos, which is why he
- 22:51Speaker 1: uses this fake name. And I think there's.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Enough conflict in the contrast between those two per personalities,
- 23:00Speaker 2: or at least what he sees as the contrast between
- 23:02Speaker 2: those personalities, without needing this lie about that photo again,
- 23:08Speaker 2: then you don't have a movie.
- 23:09Speaker 1: But it would be a very different movie. I just
- 23:13Speaker 1: I don't know. I agree with you. I think that
- 23:16Speaker 1: whole thing could have been easily cleared up. He had
- 23:20Speaker 1: the moment when he hands her the frame, Yeah, I
- 23:23Speaker 1: took it, and he chickened out. Yeah, I don't. You're
- 23:26Speaker 1: a tough guy who rides a motorcycle. Yeah, dude, you've
- 23:29Speaker 1: got this. Yeah. I just also would like to note
- 23:34Speaker 1: that it's funny that they made his character Jake to
- 23:38Speaker 1: beat this like paparazzi guy. Right, And I think at
- 23:42Speaker 1: a time in Los Angeles there was this huge like
- 23:47Speaker 1: paparazzi on every street corner in Los Angeles, in Hollywood
- 23:51Speaker 1: looking for that photo of a celebrity, you know, coming
- 23:55Speaker 1: out of a store, coming at whatever. Right. I don't
- 23:59Speaker 1: think there's a market for it anymore like it was
- 24:01Speaker 1: in the early two thousands because of the social media. Yes,
- 24:05Speaker 1: because of social media, because you got tipster Janis if
- 24:08Speaker 1: she's sitting at that restaurant and that musician is there
- 24:11Speaker 1: with not his wife, Yes, she's kinda taking that photo
- 24:15Speaker 1: posted on Instagram and it's gonna go viral there, Yes,
- 24:18Speaker 1: and then all the news outlets then pick it up. Like,
- 24:21Speaker 1: I don't think there is, And I don't know shit
- 24:24Speaker 1: about shit, but I don't think there is, Like I said,
- 24:27Speaker 1: like a market, Like there's no like price tag on
- 24:30Speaker 1: this like one photo anymore. Not the way it was
- 24:34Speaker 1: for sure. Yeah, you know as an example, Wendy's deep
- 24:37Speaker 1: into the vanderpupp Rules drama and they just film the reunion,
- 24:41Speaker 1: and there's all these photos of outside the reunion of people,
- 24:45Speaker 1: you know, catching this drama that's happening. Those are all
- 24:48Speaker 1: cell phone photos. Those are not nobody is there. With
- 24:51Speaker 1: DSLR telephoto lens, you can tell get someone like zooming
- 24:56Speaker 1: in from behind a car, right exactly. So it's a
- 25:01Speaker 1: weird storyline to me. And I can understand like he
- 25:04Speaker 1: is maybe a little ashamed and embarrassed that he has
- 25:07Speaker 1: this job that pays the bills while his true art
- 25:10Speaker 1: is like taking photographs of beautiful things. Like I can
- 25:13Speaker 1: understand that whole thing. And I actually think that to
- 25:18Speaker 1: me is like what would have made the movie really
- 25:22Speaker 1: interesting if we would have like deep dived into that. Yeah,
- 25:28Speaker 1: I agree, I yeah, I think there's more of a
- 25:32Speaker 1: reveal there when she realizes that he's maybe hidden this
- 25:37Speaker 1: other part of himself and what does that mean a
- 25:40Speaker 1: boy who he is when he's exploiting these parts of
- 25:42Speaker 1: other people's lives. Yes, private moment, I thought Beth, the
- 25:48Speaker 1: character of Beth acted very naive at times, And you're
- 25:54Speaker 1: to tell me that this is a girl who is educated,
- 25:57Speaker 1: who has lived in La on her own ready and
- 26:00Speaker 1: now is returning. But she's so like to me when
- 26:04Speaker 1: she's being propositioned for the talk show, on a commercial
- 26:08Speaker 1: on all this stuff, and like believes this, like smarmy
- 26:13Speaker 1: agent guy. Yeah, why is she being so naive? Like
- 26:16Speaker 1: she would like she rolled up off a bus in Hollywood?
- 26:21Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Like, I'm like, I don't
- 26:24Speaker 1: it just the two size of this character didn't make
- 26:28Speaker 1: sense to me. Yes, I don't disagree. All right, let's talk.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Did you see that?
- 26:34Speaker 2: Yes, When the actress Devin Davies gets arrested for shoplifting,
- 26:38Speaker 2: Janni's comments, I guess a million the movie isn't enough.
- 26:41Speaker 2: And I think that line should have been like ten
- 26:43Speaker 2: million in the movie, because I don't think a million
- 26:44Speaker 2: the movie is a lot of money.
- 26:47Speaker 1: I'd take a million a movie, sure, But if we're
- 26:50Speaker 1: to believe this person is a huge star to the
- 26:53Speaker 1: point that her shoplifting is going to be big news, right, Well,
- 26:57Speaker 1: it's a real throwback to then when like why No
- 27:00Speaker 1: Rider shoplifted Lindsay's low hand. It was all during that time,
- 27:04Speaker 1: you know what I mean, And they weren't shoplifting because
- 27:06Speaker 1: they didn't have money. No, of course, not shoplifting for
- 27:10Speaker 1: the thrill of it. Right, there's one line when they
- 27:13Speaker 1: are getting ready to eat some ice cream, and then
- 27:15Speaker 1: there's a line about the Los Angeles weather and they
- 27:18Speaker 1: say something like it has been raining a lot. And
- 27:22Speaker 1: it was funny because I know this movie was made
- 27:24Speaker 1: months ago, but for people who don't live in southern California,
- 27:28Speaker 1: it has rained a lot here. And I just thought
- 27:31Speaker 1: it was really funny like that that lined up. It
- 27:35Speaker 1: was a it was a reference. Yes, it worked out,
- 27:38Speaker 1: it worked out for them. Yeah. Am I to believe
- 27:40Speaker 1: that he rode his motorcycle from Los Angeles to Washington?
- 27:44Speaker 1: That's like two days by car? I know, I don't know.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I thought about that same thing too, because in my
- 27:49Speaker 1: mind I was like, wait a minute, it takes like
- 27:52Speaker 1: fourteen hours to get to organ I think, yeah, and
- 27:56Speaker 1: then Washington is above Orgon, Like, that's a lot of driving.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Did he stop? He driven from here to Seattle? It
- 28:04Speaker 1: took us two days. It's a long drive. Yeah, we're
- 28:08Speaker 1: supposed to believe he rode his motorcycle. Okay, cool guy. Yeah,
- 28:12Speaker 1: speaking of riding things, no one rides bicycles in Los Angeles, guys,
- 28:16Speaker 1: you get run over. And on top of it, Vicente
- 28:18Speaker 1: is like a freaking freeway. I ride my bike on
- 28:21Speaker 1: San Vicente. No, you don't. Well, And it was funny
- 28:23Speaker 1: teacause we're ever. They were going and they were like
- 28:27Speaker 1: shopping or something. They like parked their bikes, did not
- 28:31Speaker 1: lock them. Walk away from those those are gone and
- 28:33Speaker 1: Los Angeles. No, you just don't know. Yeah, the the
- 28:37Speaker 1: Los Angeles scenes were entirely too pretty to be LA. Yeah,
- 28:41Speaker 1: break it to you, guys. There's a lot to be
- 28:43Speaker 1: said for La. Unfortunately, it's not pretty. No, there's pockets
- 28:47Speaker 1: that are pretty. I think two things and one scene
- 28:51Speaker 1: they were eating ice cream and it looked like they
- 28:53Speaker 1: were I don't know if you remember this, but there
- 28:55Speaker 1: was an ice cream cart and then they go to
- 28:56Speaker 1: sit down in the behind the ice cream cart and
- 28:59Speaker 1: it looks like a covid era like outdoor dining space
- 29:04Speaker 1: that they built, like on the street. He said, like
- 29:06Speaker 1: wooden steps something like that. Okay, they use the same
- 29:10Speaker 1: exact spot for the next day. When he gives her
- 29:12Speaker 1: the photo, he gives her the Yes, it's not the
- 29:14Speaker 1: ice cream spot anymore. No, the cart was gone.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Yeah, speaking of farmers' markets, people only dinner shop at
- 29:20Speaker 2: the farmer's market in movies.
- 29:22Speaker 1: Never do I go to the farmer's No, I go
- 29:24Speaker 1: to the grocery store. Yes, I love the idea of
- 29:28Speaker 1: going to a farmer's market, like, oh, let me go
- 29:30Speaker 1: get my fresh ingredients. No, I don't do that.
- 29:32Speaker 2: No, I'd like to bring back a segment I like
- 29:35Speaker 2: to call Hagin's husband says, Okay. First up, after Jake
- 29:39Speaker 2: tells Aunt Dotie that he fell in love with Beth,
- 29:41Speaker 2: he shouts at the.
- 29:42Speaker 1: TV three days because, oh yeah. And then when Beth
- 29:46Speaker 1: at the end of the movie asked Jake, why didn't
- 29:47Speaker 1: you tell me? He says, because then Hollmark couldn't draw
- 29:49Speaker 1: this dumb conversation out into a two hour movie. Yeah,
- 29:52Speaker 1: he's really turned like he likes a Christmas movie. But yeah,
- 29:57Speaker 1: he's become more cynical.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Yeah, or it doesn't like the non fall, non Christmas movies.
- 30:04Speaker 1: I mean, but it's the same stories, different seasons.
- 30:07Speaker 2: So he just likes the esthetics of the Christmas movie.
- 30:10Speaker 2: I will say when he didn't watch this whole movie,
- 30:12Speaker 2: but when he came downstairs, he was like, at least
- 30:14Speaker 2: you get a pretty faith to a lot.
- 30:16Speaker 1: So was he talking about Tyler Team Tyler Hides. Speaking
- 30:21Speaker 1: of Tyler Hines, Hallmark failed this. He did not have
- 30:23Speaker 1: a candy cane in his mouth or like a toothpick. However,
- 30:28Speaker 1: I don't know if you caught it. At the beginning
- 30:30Speaker 1: of the movie, he's like fiddling with his camera stuff
- 30:33Speaker 1: and he does have a camera piece hanging out of
- 30:36Speaker 1: his mouth. It is in his mouth. Yeah that sounds familiar,
- 30:42Speaker 1: but yeah, I need like toothpick. Did you see the
- 30:44Speaker 1: Jonathan Bennett Instagram story I did. I hate Tyler Haines's moment.
- 30:49Speaker 1: I did. It's gone otherwise we would share it for you,
- 30:53Speaker 1: all right. Would you rate this movie? I gave it
- 30:56Speaker 1: four stars. Oh it was. It was nice to look at.
- 31:01Speaker 1: I enjoyed it. I was. I don't expect more than
- 31:07Speaker 1: a four star movie unless it includes Andrew Walker and
- 31:10Speaker 1: Paul Campbell and is written by Paul Campbell and can
- 31:13Speaker 1: release us it. Yeah. I gave it three point seven
- 31:16Speaker 1: five stars. Yeah, it was good. It was a solid movie.
- 31:21Speaker 1: I I did ask in our Girls go on Homework
- 31:26Speaker 1: Facebook group, like if this is people's new favorite Tyler
- 31:30Speaker 1: Heines movies A lot of votes. Yes, m A lot
- 31:34Speaker 1: of people also said that it was Always You is
- 31:36Speaker 1: remains our favorite.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Yeah, that's funny. I would not call that my favorite
- 31:41Speaker 2: Tyler Heiness movie.
- 31:42Speaker 1: Enjoyed it, didn't love it. Love those steamy kissing scenes. Yeah.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Twenty two percent of our votes said the best Tyler
- 31:53Speaker 1: Heines movie of all time forty one.
- 31:55Speaker 2: Not as good as it was Always You thirteen percent good,
- 31:58Speaker 2: but Unexpected Christmas is still the king.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Well. What I like about Unexpected Christmas more than this
- 32:05Speaker 1: movie is because and we talked about this off air too,
- 32:10Speaker 1: is that Tyler was so Tyler in this movie. He
- 32:14Speaker 1: didn't like stretch beyond, like I don't know if he
- 32:17Speaker 1: really had to act. Yeah, you know, yeah what I mean.
- 32:21Speaker 1: But in Unexpected Christmas very comedic. Yes, so it was
- 32:26Speaker 1: nice to see him in a role like that. Yeah,
- 32:30Speaker 1: that's my two cents, all right.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Coming up from us later this week, we have our
- 32:34Speaker 2: recap of The Way Home season finale. We also have
