- 0:16Speaker 1: another really fun episode of the Tailgate this week. I
- 0:19Speaker 1: know normally we have fans of other NFL teams, but
- 0:23Speaker 1: we had to jump at the opportunity to get Andrew
- 0:26Speaker 1: Zimmern on the show King of Kings, celebrity chef, difference
- 0:32Speaker 1: maker in the community. Very fun, very interesting personality. He's
- 0:36Speaker 1: got a new show coming out called Holiday Party. Guys,
- 0:40Speaker 1: you are absolutely gonna love this episode. And if you
- 0:44Speaker 1: do leave a comment, subscribe. Do the things that you
- 0:47Speaker 1: do that help shows survived. Hey, we gotta go, We
- 0:55Speaker 1: gotta go. Let go, So Tim, It's Raiders week, everybody.
- 1:05Speaker 1: We are trying to find a win amidst a couple
- 1:08Speaker 1: of losses and joining me to talk all things purple,
- 1:12Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, the great Andrew Zimmern. And Andrew, why
- 1:16Speaker 1: don't you tell us if you have ever found yourself
- 1:21Speaker 1: as a naked man in a room with a naked
- 1:24Speaker 1: Adrian Peterson.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Wow, we're just diving right into the deep end of
- 1:28Speaker 2: the pool, aren't we.
- 1:29Speaker 1: That's what we call a get the show started question.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I mean obviously the answer is yes. Who
- 1:38Speaker 2: hasn't been I guess at the sort of at the
- 1:44Speaker 2: height of AP's vikiness when he was a dominant force
- 1:53Speaker 2: in the NFL annually and historically, target Field opened, and
- 2:00Speaker 2: Major League Baseball, in its great wisdom, whenever a new
- 2:04Speaker 2: stadium opens, likes to have the celebrity All Star Softball
- 2:08Speaker 2: game take place there, and they like to pepper the
- 2:12Speaker 2: team or teams in this case, with a variety of
- 2:17Speaker 2: local celebrities. Right, So they always make sure they have
- 2:21Speaker 2: an athlete from every pro team, and then they have
- 2:24Speaker 2: a couple of other folks. I was the couple of
- 2:28Speaker 2: other folks we had, you know, we had a wild player.
- 2:33Speaker 2: We had someone from the Lens and Adrian Peterson was playing.
- 2:37Speaker 2: And you spend when you're when you make this commitment,
- 2:41Speaker 2: it's like a four or five day commitment. You get
- 2:44Speaker 2: you know, batting practice tips and fielding tips from Hall
- 2:47Speaker 2: of famers, You go do make a wish stuff, you
- 2:51Speaker 2: do children's cancer funds. I mean, it really is for
- 2:54Speaker 2: a sports geek like me, I'm with forty you know,
- 2:58Speaker 2: Hall of Famer Ledgend and a smattering of other celebrities
- 3:03Speaker 2: who love to play baseball, and we're just hanging out
- 3:07Speaker 2: and doing stuff for four or five days. Game day arrives,
- 3:11Speaker 2: we get to the stadium much earlier than I thought
- 3:14Speaker 2: we would, and we're directed to the locker room where
- 3:17Speaker 2: everyone is served. The locker rooms at that time for
- 3:21Speaker 2: the Twins, and we were the AL team, so we
- 3:24Speaker 2: were in the Twins locker room, not the visitors locker room.
- 3:27Speaker 2: We are in sort of like pods of two. It's
- 3:30Speaker 2: sort of like half clover leafs, right, so there's some privacy,
- 3:34Speaker 2: but you're essentially sharing a locker room with somebody. And
- 3:37Speaker 2: I was sharing a locker or an area with Adrian
- 3:41Speaker 2: Peterson and we both took out all the uniform stuff.
- 3:44Speaker 2: And do you put the hose on before the pants?
- 3:47Speaker 2: The pants on before the hose? That I mean you
- 3:51Speaker 2: have a pro UNI And I don't know what part
- 3:55Speaker 2: of the kit goes on first. I know underwear starts,
- 3:59Speaker 2: but the first but the first thing you have to
- 4:01Speaker 2: do is take off everything that you have.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Now classic getting undressed.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Yeah, classic. So if we remember one thing about Adrian
- 4:11Speaker 2: Peterson was like lowest body fat counts in the history
- 4:15Speaker 2: of body fat counts. The guy was six foot three
- 4:19Speaker 2: of sculpted majesty, and I am not. So we take
- 4:25Speaker 2: off our clothes and everyone is looking at him. I
- 4:29Speaker 2: mean everyone is looking at it. It was just like
- 4:31Speaker 2: this was. Let me just say, in every aspect you
- 4:35Speaker 2: could possibly imagine, he was legendary. And I'm just sitting
- 4:39Speaker 2: there expanding next to him, naked, just I'm frozen. And
- 4:46Speaker 2: from across the room is one of our coaches, Raleigh Fingers,
- 4:50Speaker 2: and he's sitting underneath the sign that says no smoking,
- 4:54Speaker 2: with a heater dangling out of his mouth with about
- 4:57Speaker 2: an inch of ash on it. While he's sitting there
- 5:00Speaker 2: Buck naked too, just on a little stool. Right, and
- 5:04Speaker 2: he's sitting next to Jack Morris, right, the legendary Hall
- 5:10Speaker 2: of Fame Pitcher World Series winner Minnesota God and in
- 5:18Speaker 2: a loud enough voice so that every single person can
- 5:21Speaker 2: hear in the locker room, figures nudges Morris and points
- 5:26Speaker 2: at me and says, look at zimmern look at Zimmer,
- 5:30Speaker 2: And everybody turns and looks at me, and I'm like,
- 5:33Speaker 2: oh my god, nothing could be worse. He goes, that's
- 5:36Speaker 2: a baseball player's body. That's a ballplayer's body. It was
- 5:42Speaker 2: Adrian Pearson just thought it was the funniest thing in
- 5:46Speaker 2: the whole world. So we were immediately cemented as being
- 5:50Speaker 2: pretty chummy. We get upstairs to where we're actually going
- 5:54Speaker 2: to warm up on the field before the game, and
- 5:57Speaker 2: he pulled down. If you remember your Viking's history, for
- 6:00Speaker 2: as long as he was a Viking, they kept saying,
- 6:03Speaker 2: if you could just throw the ball to him in
- 6:05Speaker 2: the flat, in a little bit of space, give him
- 6:08Speaker 2: some you know, eight nine steps to get up to speed,
- 6:12Speaker 2: he would average fifteen yards to carry. I mean, if
- 6:15Speaker 2: he could catch the ball in the flat, this guy
- 6:18Speaker 2: could be the greatest football player of all time. But
- 6:21Speaker 2: it was drop after. I mean, he had a horrific
- 6:25Speaker 2: catch game, and I always thought it was some sort
- 6:28Speaker 2: of like football thing. Bad luck, the yips, it got
- 6:31Speaker 2: in his head. He pulls me aside, along with another
- 6:35Speaker 2: player on the team and says, hey, can the three
- 6:37Speaker 2: of us warm up? And it was weird because everyone
- 6:40Speaker 2: was paring off. No one was in freeze. You're just
- 6:42Speaker 2: warming up, you're throwing the ball, you just getting your
- 6:45Speaker 2: arm loose. You're playing catch, and I sit there and
- 6:49Speaker 2: I look at him and he says, stay with me,
- 6:52Speaker 2: and I'm like okay, And the other fellow twenty five
- 6:59Speaker 2: thirty away would throw me the ball. I would catch it,
- 7:04Speaker 2: and Adrian would say give me the ball, and I
- 7:06Speaker 2: would hand it to him and he'd throw it back.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Then they'd throw it to me again. I would throw
- 7:13Speaker 2: it back and he and I would alternate. He never
- 7:16Speaker 2: caught the ball, and I realized it wasn't that he
- 7:21Speaker 2: couldn't catch the football or had some kind of yips
- 7:24Speaker 2: associated with it. He literally couldn't catch. He could run
- 7:28Speaker 2: and he could run over everyone. He just couldn't catch.
- 7:31Speaker 2: It was one of the greatest days of my life.
- 7:34Speaker 2: My mother in law at the time after the game
- 7:36Speaker 2: hugged him, and Adrian's people came up to me and said,
- 7:40Speaker 2: you have to tell her to let go. She wouldn't
- 7:42Speaker 2: let go. She was like five feet tall. She wouldn't
- 7:45Speaker 2: let go.
- 7:45Speaker 1: I know the part that I should focus on as
- 7:47Speaker 1: a Viking fan, as the ap thing, because I've gotten
- 7:49Speaker 1: to shake his hand and that thing. It got so
- 7:52Speaker 1: cliche to hear every Troy Aikman and knock off Troy Aikman. Go,
- 7:56Speaker 1: when you shake this guy's hand, it feels like he's
- 7:59Speaker 1: a call our crusher. But it's true. I've never Yeah,
- 8:03Speaker 1: I was like, are you shaking my elbow right now?
- 8:06Speaker 1: What is? How? Are you this strong of a human man?
- 8:09Speaker 2: Yeah? I mean I still have a broken finger from
- 8:12Speaker 2: hanging out with him for a day. He I mean,
- 8:15Speaker 2: but I think it's why, And I think it's a
- 8:19Speaker 2: fascinating part of sports fastening, part of of of media
- 8:23Speaker 2: and our modern age that is moving along at a
- 8:27Speaker 2: at a lightning pace in every single discipline anywhere you
- 8:32Speaker 2: look at in life, nothing is slowing down. Everything is
- 8:35Speaker 2: speeding up, and we we end up lionizing and making
- 8:41Speaker 2: judgments about people. And you know, on the field, this
- 8:47Speaker 2: guy was devastating. And you know again, I mean he
- 8:52Speaker 2: will he's he's in the record books, he's going he's
- 8:55Speaker 2: one of the all time greats. But oh my god,
- 8:58Speaker 2: what a devastating kind of in that, you know. I
- 9:02Speaker 2: mean he was a couple of pounds less, but he
- 9:04Speaker 2: was a little bit taller and a little faster. I
- 9:08Speaker 2: think in that Eddie George Mold where he just he
- 9:11Speaker 2: could run over everybody and was just so talented once
- 9:15Speaker 2: he had the ball tucked away and was running.
- 9:18Speaker 1: He's the Jim Brown of Eddie George's is what he is.
- 9:21Speaker 2: That's exactly right, That's exactly right, Jim Brown. Jim Brown
- 9:25Speaker 2: was someone who I got friendly with on the you know,
- 9:28Speaker 2: social justice and advocacy front. And I got a chance
- 9:31Speaker 2: to hang out with Jim Brown a couple of times.
- 9:34Speaker 2: And he was here in the Twin Cities being interviewed
- 9:38Speaker 2: at the Walker It is about fifteen seventeen years ago,
- 9:43Speaker 2: and I got a chance to spend the day and
- 9:46Speaker 2: dinner with him. And Jim Brown was one of those
- 9:49Speaker 2: people like when he talked, he didn't have to raise
- 9:52Speaker 2: his voice. He would just talk and everyone within about
- 9:55Speaker 2: a half mile just fell silent. That man was some else.
- 10:00Speaker 2: And for any young football fans listening, I won't even
- 10:04Speaker 2: go into it. Just look up his stats by year
- 10:08Speaker 2: and how relevant he was. I think he's one of
- 10:10Speaker 2: those guys that if he was playing today, would be
- 10:13Speaker 2: a perennial All Pro and record setting no matter what
- 10:16Speaker 2: he was, he was just too talented an athlete.
- 10:19Speaker 1: Yeah, he was generationless. The thing I will say about
- 10:22Speaker 1: Ap though, is, you know, on the football side of
- 10:26Speaker 1: things is. I think there's an extremely strong argument to
- 10:32Speaker 1: make for if you are picking any running back from
- 10:35Speaker 1: their prime from any moment in the history of this game,
- 10:38Speaker 1: I think he's the top. I like, we so quickly,
- 10:42Speaker 1: the NFL evolved so quickly into this. You know, let's
- 10:46Speaker 1: see seventeen different types of motions running backs. Don't like.
- 10:49Speaker 1: We went from the running back world to this new
- 10:52Speaker 1: world very quickly. And I think lost in that was
- 10:56Speaker 1: that season that Viking fans remember but where down the
- 10:59Speaker 1: stretch Christian Ponder was the quarterback AP runs for two
- 11:02Speaker 1: thousand yards. But all that's written down somewhere and you
- 11:05Speaker 1: can look at it. But what we remember was like, hey,
- 11:08Speaker 1: the Colts are putting sixteen people in the box. They're
- 11:12Speaker 1: they're putting their linebacker coach out there in the box.
- 11:15Speaker 1: And we still it was like here you go, AP,
- 11:20Speaker 1: and he was executing on a level that you were like, well,
- 11:25Speaker 1: you would have to be playing eleven on five for
- 11:27Speaker 1: somebody to get this many yards game after game.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Yeah, I think what's interesting, And you know, I don't
- 11:32Speaker 2: want to get too wonky, but I'm I'm a pretty
- 11:36Speaker 2: keen observer of the sport. I mean, we can talk
- 11:39Speaker 2: about Jim Brown, who was you know generations, you know,
- 11:44Speaker 2: a generation a half minimum before APU. Walter Payton I
- 11:49Speaker 2: think had retired by the time ap even started, you know,
- 11:54Speaker 2: running in the league. Eric Dickerson the same. But when
- 11:58Speaker 2: you look at Adrian Peterson's era, I pick I take
- 12:04Speaker 2: him before Tomlinson. I pick him before Marshall Falk, who
- 12:08Speaker 2: I think was running at the time. I hate to
- 12:12Speaker 2: say it, I think he had more explosiveness than Emmett Smith.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Emmitt Smith has a lot of records because
- 12:19Speaker 2: of the durability. But if it's a if we're going,
- 12:22Speaker 2: you know, school yard pick and we're at running back,
- 12:26Speaker 2: I'm hard pressed to not pick Adyard Peterson, And off
- 12:30Speaker 2: the top of my head, I can't pick someone that
- 12:32Speaker 2: I would take instead of him in his.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Proct that's a great way.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Don't just don't throw him the ball or stand next
- 12:40Speaker 2: to him naked. It's the most emasculating feeling I've ever had.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Man. Back when I was failing at acting heavily, I
- 12:50Speaker 1: would have this feeling every great once in a while
- 12:53Speaker 1: where you'd get an audition and you knew you were
- 12:56Speaker 1: in trouble because somewhere in the description it would say handsome,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and you would go in and you would sit in
- 13:02Speaker 1: this room with eighteen other better versions of yourself. You're like,
- 13:09Speaker 1: oh my gosh, there's lots of abs sigh, and there's
- 13:13Speaker 1: two inches taller sigh. It was so I can I
- 13:17Speaker 1: think you had in that situation, though, there's a disconnect
- 13:21Speaker 1: where you go, well, I'm never gonna be I mean,
- 13:23Speaker 1: I'm not an NFL running back. There's there's enough at
- 13:27Speaker 1: least that you can convince yourself like, yes, I'm not
- 13:30Speaker 1: supposed to look like this man, but.
- 13:33Speaker 2: That's that's correct, that's correct. And yet yet a half
- 13:37Speaker 2: hour later, up on the field, I realize I have
- 13:40Speaker 2: some athletic superiority over him. That was the craziest thing
- 13:44Speaker 2: inside of my head to figure out why is this
- 13:47Speaker 2: so surreal? And I realized it's because I'm standing next
- 13:50Speaker 2: to him naked and just looking up at him and
- 13:54Speaker 2: just thinking, oh my god, this is this is the
- 13:58Speaker 2: most insane sculpted human being I've ever seen in my life.
- 14:04Speaker 2: And then a half hour later, dressed, he's whispering to me,
- 14:09Speaker 2: hatch the ball for me. I mean, I like, I
- 14:13Speaker 2: believe this is crazy. This is great. By the way,
- 14:17Speaker 2: By the way, I'm sixty two now. Target field is
- 14:20Speaker 2: how old? Ten years old? Nine years old?
- 14:23Speaker 1: At least? Yeah, eleven.
- 14:24Speaker 2: I mean it's somewhere, there's a while ago, but I'm
- 14:27Speaker 2: still fifty, isn't He was the starting running back on
- 14:32Speaker 2: our foot on NFL football team. I mean, you would
- 14:35Speaker 2: think in every single way he would have some athletic
- 14:39Speaker 2: dominance over me. And I realized my catching game is
- 14:42Speaker 2: better than Adrian Peterson's. By the way, well, I don't
- 14:45Speaker 2: want a humble brag.
- 14:46Speaker 1: No do it, let it, let it rip.
- 14:48Speaker 2: But I'm but I'm going to our tane piece of
- 14:53Speaker 2: sports trivia. The only I think it's two days in
- 14:57Speaker 2: America where there's no professional sports being play is Baseball
- 15:01Speaker 2: All Star Game weekend. There is nothing else on there
- 15:05Speaker 2: in the Big Four. I mean there's some you know,
- 15:07Speaker 2: I'm sure there's some obscure Bowl game being played somewhere,
- 15:10Speaker 2: but there is no there is no Big four sport
- 15:14Speaker 2: being played. So ESPN, I don't know. I think they
- 15:18Speaker 2: just do Top ten now, But back then they did
- 15:21Speaker 2: the web Gem. It was sponsored by some insurance company
- 15:25Speaker 2: or whatever, and it was always the defensive baseball play
- 15:29Speaker 2: of the day, and I was the ESPN Web Gem
- 15:33Speaker 2: of the Day, which was pretty pretty crazy. Ozzy Wizard
- 15:40Speaker 2: of Oz was on first base for the NL. I'm
- 15:44Speaker 2: playing second base. Dowkins lines one straight up the middle,
- 15:50Speaker 2: sort of to the shortstop side. It goes off Jack
- 15:55Speaker 2: Morris's foot he was pitching for US, and ricochetes towards
- 15:59Speaker 2: second base. So I'm leaning right and I dove left.
- 16:04Speaker 2: In my head, I'm parallel to the ground three feet
- 16:09Speaker 2: above it. The picture shows that there's like an inch
- 16:12Speaker 2: of space between me and the ground. I had some
- 16:16Speaker 2: I basically fell over, but at one point I was
- 16:19Speaker 2: horizontal and parallel to the ground and I grabbed the
- 16:23Speaker 2: ball and I flipped it back to Paris the Wild Captain,
- 16:29Speaker 2: who is playing shortstop. He stomps on the bag and
- 16:33Speaker 2: throws out a shocked Dawkins. At first, Ozzy Smith keeps
- 16:40Speaker 2: running through the bag right but knows he's well out,
- 16:43Speaker 2: and he makes the turn because there were no outs
- 16:46Speaker 2: to head back to his bench, and in the middle
- 16:48Speaker 2: there's still two outs. The game is on. The other
- 16:51Speaker 2: batter is walking from the batter from the on deck
- 16:54Speaker 2: circle into the batter's box, and I ran after Ozzy
- 16:57Speaker 2: Smith and everyone is looking at me like what are
- 16:59Speaker 2: you doing? And by the way, I should tell you,
- 17:02Speaker 2: target field is full. There's fifty thousand people watching this
- 17:05Speaker 2: game because right because all the All Stars are there
- 17:08Speaker 2: watching us. And then right after I think was the
- 17:10Speaker 2: home run derby that night, so and there's fireworks. It's
- 17:14Speaker 2: a big baseball day. So the place is full and
- 17:16Speaker 2: everyone is looking like what is this crazy done of
- 17:20Speaker 2: a doing? And I go running. I'm like Ozzie because
- 17:23Speaker 2: I was such a big fan of his, and he's
- 17:25Speaker 2: looking at me like he's looking at me like what
- 17:27Speaker 2: are you doing. I think he actually may have said that,
- 17:29Speaker 2: like you're about to selena him, that's right, And he
- 17:34Speaker 2: or Nancy Kerrigan or whatever her name was, and he
- 17:38Speaker 2: turns like what are you doing? And I said, when
- 17:41Speaker 2: you ran by, I thought you whispered good play, And
- 17:44Speaker 2: I need to know was that like good play, you
- 17:46Speaker 2: were being nice or was it actually a good play?
- 17:50Speaker 2: Like I needed to know from him. I needed to
- 17:53Speaker 2: be beatified and to be be made holy by the
- 17:57Speaker 2: Wizard of Oz. And he looked at me like I'm nuts.
- 17:59Speaker 2: He says, no, that was a great play. Go back
- 18:02Speaker 2: in the game, and I ran back I'm like, Okay,
- 18:05Speaker 2: Ozzy thinks I made a good play. Literally, the greatest
- 18:07Speaker 2: sports moment of my life as a player was that play.
- 18:13Speaker 1: You have to sink into those you have to.
- 18:16Speaker 2: You have to are you kidding me? Once in a lifetime,
- 18:19Speaker 2: when am I ever going to do that again?
- 18:21Speaker 1: You can have Ozzy Smith compliment you and then just
- 18:25Speaker 1: walk away from that. That's not how That's not how
- 18:28Speaker 1: you exist in your world. That's sure. If you're Cal
- 18:30Speaker 1: Ripken junior, you'd be like, thanks, Oz, But if you're
- 18:34Speaker 1: not a pro baseball player, let's go let's go suck
- 18:36Speaker 1: that up a little bit.
- 18:37Speaker 2: I've had to. I also had to know polite. Was
- 18:40Speaker 2: he being polite or was it? Or was it legit?
- 18:43Speaker 2: Another really great moment for me. I mean, I know
- 18:45Speaker 2: we're supposed to be talking football, but it was such
- 18:48Speaker 2: a great, great moment. I'm someone one of the PR people.
- 18:52Speaker 2: I mean, there's hundreds of them there that day to
- 18:54Speaker 2: manage all the different talent and interviews and all that.
- 18:57Speaker 2: And someone comes out and says, Dwight Gooden wants to
- 19:00Speaker 2: talk to you, and I'm like, oh, okay, great, And
- 19:05Speaker 2: you know I was born and raised in New York,
- 19:07Speaker 2: I watched him pitch his legendary rookie year. I saw
- 19:10Speaker 2: the World Series games, you know, so I knew his
- 19:15Speaker 2: professional life. And go out and he's there with his
- 19:17Speaker 2: wife and his kids, and he's like, hey, we're huge fans.
- 19:22Speaker 2: Can I get a picture of you with my wife
- 19:24Speaker 2: and kids? We've seen every show you've ever done, and
- 19:27Speaker 2: I'm just like sure, And then he turns to me afterwards,
- 19:30Speaker 2: he goes, so great to meet you, and I'm like, Dwight,
- 19:36Speaker 2: we've met before, and he looks at me sort of strange, like,
- 19:39Speaker 2: oh when, And I'm like, we were roommates for like
- 19:43Speaker 2: three days as Smithers back when he was in treatment
- 19:46Speaker 2: in New York and I was in treatment in New York.
- 19:49Speaker 2: Neither one of us stayed sober afterwards, but we met
- 19:54Speaker 2: at Smithers and I was just I thought it was
- 19:57Speaker 2: so And obviously I remembered who he was and he
- 20:00Speaker 2: forgot who I was, and he's he's very sober now
- 20:03Speaker 2: and as a foundation does a lot of work helping
- 20:07Speaker 2: people get healthy and well. And obviously I'm thirty two
- 20:10Speaker 2: years sober and very public about it and do the
- 20:13Speaker 2: same sorts of things. And we just had such a
- 20:18Speaker 2: laugh about that because it was so typical of two
- 20:21Speaker 2: people who don't say sober. But he yeah, he had
- 20:24Speaker 2: no idea who I was there then, and I was
- 20:26Speaker 2: like we roomed together like three nights we crossed. You know,
- 20:30Speaker 2: there's like five people in a room there like we were.
- 20:33Speaker 2: There's a great moment of my not recovery was rooming
- 20:36Speaker 2: with him for thirty seconds at Smithers.
- 20:38Speaker 1: We'll move on. We're going to talk Raiders. We're going
- 20:40Speaker 1: to talk this team.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Yep.
- 20:41Speaker 1: But there are there are two things that I can't
- 20:43Speaker 1: let go. One the reason why comedians need to be
- 20:48Speaker 1: allowed to be on, Like you needed a Louis Anderson
- 20:52Speaker 1: in that game or something Roley Fingers line about that's
- 20:55Speaker 1: a baseball player's body. That is a funny, funny, funny line.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Oh my god, the room just lost it. I mean,
- 21:02Speaker 2: Raleigh Figures is one of the funniest human beings and
- 21:06Speaker 2: obviously one of the you know, greatest baseball players, you know,
- 21:09Speaker 2: full stop of all time. But what an incredible man.
- 21:13Speaker 1: It would, but you to have a guy in there
- 21:16Speaker 1: like a like a Louis rest his soul, or like
- 21:19Speaker 1: a just another great comic who could have just taken
- 21:22Speaker 1: that premise. The first thing I'm gonna say is like, hey, everybody, look,
- 21:27Speaker 1: Adrian Peterson has a weird white mole. Like there the
- 21:32Speaker 1: amount of lines that would probably I can't even do
- 21:35Speaker 1: on this show that I have. I am it's becoming
- 21:38Speaker 1: a roast in that locker room immediately immediately.
- 21:42Speaker 2: I mean, everyone was so afraid because you have all
- 21:45Speaker 2: these big personalities, and I mean, first of all, the
- 21:48Speaker 2: Hall of Famers, You've got the celebrity celebrities that are
- 21:51Speaker 2: flown in from LA and New York to participate, You've
- 21:54Speaker 2: got the local folks. It was I think everyone was.
- 21:59Speaker 2: It was great icebreaker and if it if it weren't there,
- 22:03Speaker 2: but for a few inches and a pitch or two,
- 22:06Speaker 2: we would have won that game and probably credited Raleigh's
- 22:09Speaker 2: tremendous coaching. But yeah, we blew it.
- 22:12Speaker 1: You make a good point about the personalities in the room,
- 22:15Speaker 1: because I find it goes one of two ways, Because
- 22:18Speaker 1: it it is impossible to reach the height of your
- 22:21Speaker 1: profession without a level of belief in yourself and a
- 22:26Speaker 1: level of ego that both had. Like I think ego's
- 22:29Speaker 1: got this horrible, you know, connotation to it in our society.
- 22:32Speaker 1: But I think there's there's definite pros to it. There's
- 22:36Speaker 1: definite like you need this almost sadistic belief in yourself
- 22:41Speaker 1: to rise above hundreds of millions of other people in
- 22:45Speaker 1: a job where everybody wishes they could do it well.
- 22:49Speaker 2: It's the same way in t same way in TV
- 22:51Speaker 2: and cooking right now. I mean like it's it's crazy.
- 22:54Speaker 2: And if you don't think or have the kind of
- 22:57Speaker 2: the minute you get nervous and don't think think that
- 23:01Speaker 2: you can cook that dish perfectly, or don't think in
- 23:03Speaker 2: the in the age of competition, whether whether it's on
- 23:07Speaker 2: television literally with competition TV shows, or competing for a
- 23:12Speaker 2: job that five thousand people want and are a thousand
- 23:16Speaker 2: are probably qualified for, or just being a line cook
- 23:20Speaker 2: in the kitchen where it's like I need to be
- 23:23Speaker 2: I need to be a sous chef in a year,
- 23:26Speaker 2: and there's ten other people who want that job as
- 23:29Speaker 2: much as me. I've got an outwork, out, hustle, outperform,
- 23:34Speaker 2: find my place, and to be confident in how you
- 23:38Speaker 2: behave in those situations and not being a total piece
- 23:41Speaker 2: of junk. Uh And and by that I mean if
- 23:46Speaker 2: you're too self centered your behavior will turn off other people.
- 23:50Speaker 2: And you could be the most talented, but you're you're
- 23:53Speaker 2: not getting chosen. I've never been the most talented person
- 23:58Speaker 2: in any room that I've walked into professionally. In my world, however,
- 24:04Speaker 2: I have had enough of the other skills where I
- 24:08Speaker 2: have been the chosen person. And after you've been the
- 24:11Speaker 2: chosen person a while, then the healthy part of the
- 24:14Speaker 2: ego comes in. You have to have some humility about
- 24:18Speaker 2: what you do. You have to understand the role that
- 24:20Speaker 2: luck plays. You have to understand that there's more than
- 24:25Speaker 2: just skill being evaluated here, and there's some things that
- 24:28Speaker 2: no one can understand. Sports is very quantifiable, I mean,
- 24:31Speaker 2: the numbers don't lie. You may have a string of
- 24:34Speaker 2: bad luck and not make it from the miners to
- 24:36Speaker 2: the majors, or from college to the pros and football
- 24:40Speaker 2: in my world the metrics are a little bit different.
- 24:45Speaker 2: But the key to it all is to have the
- 24:48Speaker 2: self confidence that makes you raise your hand and say
- 24:51Speaker 2: I can do that. I mean if you can't, if
- 24:54Speaker 2: you don't have that belief in yourself, that healthy piece
- 24:57Speaker 2: of self confidence, you're going to struggle. You're going to struggle,
- 25:01Speaker 2: which is why as a parent you're trying to teach
- 25:04Speaker 2: your kids as they get older. It's okay to lose,
- 25:07Speaker 2: it's okay not to be the best. But you got
- 25:09Speaker 2: to believe in yourself and you got to keep trying
- 25:12Speaker 2: and keep putting yourself up for things and keep raising
- 25:15Speaker 2: your hand, because otherwise it's not going to work well.
- 25:18Speaker 1: And I find those two when people rise to that
- 25:20Speaker 1: occasion and you've been like celebrity softball games, you know
- 25:23Speaker 1: you do wonderful charity work, wonderful community work. So you
- 25:27Speaker 1: find yourself in the presence of a lot of these
- 25:29Speaker 1: people a lot and through some of the things I've done,
- 25:32Speaker 1: I have as well on a different scale. But I
- 25:35Speaker 1: find the interesting thing about that ego is there's two
- 25:37Speaker 1: versions of it that's right once you get there. There's
- 25:40Speaker 1: the one that really and I don't even mean like
- 25:43Speaker 1: one guy's a dick and one guy's awesome. I mean
- 25:46Speaker 1: like it's the sense of humor about oneself. And I
- 25:50Speaker 1: think a lot of those big egos. If you are
- 25:54Speaker 1: funny and you can riff and you can run and
- 25:56Speaker 1: you can attack, a lot of them, go god, that
- 25:59Speaker 1: was funny. All of us big like impressive people in
- 26:02Speaker 1: this when Roley Fingers said that in a room full
- 26:04Speaker 1: of impressive people like to cut each other. There's a
- 26:08Speaker 1: different sort of humor in that.
- 26:09Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:10Speaker 1: And then the other side of it is the ones
- 26:12Speaker 1: who like I did an event for the Super Bowl
- 26:15Speaker 1: for Adidas and I was interviewing I might have told
- 26:18Speaker 1: this to people on the show before, but they we
- 26:21Speaker 1: were interviewing players for ESPN, and my job was to
- 26:25Speaker 1: try to pitch them business ideas, to try to get
- 26:30Speaker 1: them to I was basically doing one man sized shark
- 26:33Speaker 1: tank and like Xavier Rhoades and Alvin Kamara were so
- 26:37Speaker 1: funny and they got it. And I sat down and
- 26:39Speaker 1: I'm sure this dude has the best I'm I'm sure
- 26:42Speaker 1: he's great. But I pitched Dak Prescott, who was wearing
- 26:47Speaker 1: a hat that said dac on it. I pitched Dak
- 26:52Speaker 1: Prescott's Panini Prescott which was which was a sandwich bed.
- 26:57Speaker 1: It was probably my only good, only good idea of
- 27:00Speaker 1: the day.
- 27:00Speaker 2: That's a really good one.
- 27:02Speaker 1: Thank you. He looked at me like somebody like We're like, hey,
- 27:05Speaker 1: are we a dictatorship yet? Can we put this guy down?
- 27:09Speaker 1: Why is he here? How can we get rid of
- 27:11Speaker 1: this man? So it's always funny navigating some guys who
- 27:13Speaker 1: are like, oh my god, that's funny, and other guy's like, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 27:17Speaker 1: I'm the king.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Did you remind him of the George Foreman grill? That
- 27:21Speaker 2: George Foreman? I mean, it's hundreds and hundreds of billions
- 27:25Speaker 2: of dollars.
- 27:25Speaker 1: It was literally the lean in and he's a sleep
- 27:28Speaker 1: number guy. I was like, let's take the Foreman success.
- 27:32Speaker 1: You're brand building in the sleep world, and let's make something.
- 27:36Speaker 1: And it was funny to no one.
- 27:39Speaker 2: I'll tell you you said a very important word in there,
- 27:43Speaker 2: and that is the word fun. I think if you
- 27:45Speaker 2: don't have fun in life by saying yes, something's going
- 27:51Speaker 2: to wind up being missing. And I'll give you a
- 27:53Speaker 2: really short, big example. You know, I'm at a point
- 27:56Speaker 2: in my career with you know, restaurants and a war
- 28:00Speaker 2: and shows and my work away from TV and stuff,
- 28:06Speaker 2: that it's not necessary for me to say yes to everything.
- 28:11Speaker 2: And I said yes to a couple of cooking competitions recently.
- 28:16Speaker 2: A few of them are going to air. One big
- 28:20Speaker 2: one is going to air in the next week or so.
- 28:23Speaker 2: And people looked at me and said, why are you
- 28:26Speaker 2: doing that you know, what if what if one of
- 28:29Speaker 2: these young chefs who's been on Top Chef at Every
- 28:34Speaker 2: Other Guy Fiery Show and does nothing but cooking competitions
- 28:38Speaker 2: like they're in cooking competition shape. You know, you've got
- 28:41Speaker 2: a half an hour to make three dishes? Why are
- 28:44Speaker 2: you doing that? And I said, because it's fun. Because
- 28:48Speaker 2: I want to see at age sixty two, if I
- 28:52Speaker 2: still have it. Number one, Number two, I'm actually confident
- 28:56Speaker 2: enough that I can compete against anyone, anytime, any place.
- 29:00Speaker 2: Bring it on still and I have I feel that way.
- 29:05Speaker 2: And three, probably most importantly, it's just a blast. Why
- 29:10Speaker 2: wouldn't you want to do it? You got nothing to lose.
- 29:13Speaker 2: So what if some young chef who's really talented, uh,
- 29:17Speaker 2: you know, in the eyes of three judges, celebrity judges
- 29:20Speaker 2: that most of them don't know food at all, pick
- 29:22Speaker 2: that person by a point or two. Who cares? Who cares?
- 29:26Speaker 2: I think people get too wrapped up in what other
- 29:28Speaker 2: people are gonna think, and in the age of cancelation
- 29:32Speaker 2: and being dragged and put on blast and all those
- 29:37Speaker 2: other things that we do to focus many people, by
- 29:39Speaker 2: the way, deservedly, but we have this idea that anytime
- 29:43Speaker 2: somebody stumbles, we all have to go, oh, look at that,
- 29:46Speaker 2: look at that, look at that. They're a stumbler. I
- 29:49Speaker 2: think I don't think that's that's how to be. If
- 29:52Speaker 2: I think you have to say yes to things, you
- 29:54Speaker 2: have to ignore the people, you know, throwing banana peels
- 29:57Speaker 2: from the cheap seats, and you got to have fun.
- 29:59Speaker 2: It's great recipe for life.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I think so. I always I'm not a big
- 30:05Speaker 1: boxing guy, so you know, for you know, for of
- 30:08Speaker 1: all people to make this reference. But I don't want
- 30:12Speaker 1: to be Floyd Mayweather.
- 30:13Speaker 2: That's right.
- 30:14Speaker 1: I'm happy to be. I'm happy to be, you know,
- 30:16Speaker 1: a different guy who loses a bunch of fights. You know, Floyd.
- 30:19Speaker 1: The big thing with him is what, right, never fought anybody,
- 30:22Speaker 1: never fought anybody in there. Sure he won all these fights,
- 30:24Speaker 1: never fought anybody in his prime.
- 30:25Speaker 2: That's right.
- 30:26Speaker 1: He'll tell you he's the greatest though.
- 30:28Speaker 2: That's right.
- 30:29Speaker 1: Uh, Well, let's talk. Let's talk a little vikings here
- 30:32Speaker 1: we Yesterday, Josh Dobbs gets named starter. Yep, coming out
- 30:37Speaker 1: of the by I've probably been leading the charge on
- 30:41Speaker 1: the the Dobbs thing here on this show. Annoyingly in
- 30:45Speaker 1: my personal life. People are like, if this is a
- 30:46Speaker 1: Dobbs call, I'm hanging up. I want to I want
- 30:50Speaker 1: I want to discuss where we're going to dinner. Uh,
- 30:53Speaker 1: And so I'm really I think all the conversation around
- 30:57Speaker 1: I'd be curious about your take on quarterbacks. I so often.
- 31:01Speaker 1: You know, we were just doing it. We were discussing
- 31:03Speaker 1: Peterson and all the greats, but we forget that the
- 31:07Speaker 1: NFL is a math equation. You know, it's they have
- 31:10Speaker 1: perfected the salary cap. And you know, my expectations for
- 31:14Speaker 1: quarterbacks around the league is heavily tied to what they
- 31:18Speaker 1: make versus what they output. So like a guy can
- 31:22Speaker 1: make forty and be worth more than that, he can
- 31:24Speaker 1: make two million and be worth less than that, or
- 31:27Speaker 1: he could be brought thirty yeah, or he could be
- 31:29Speaker 1: Well that's that's my thing. You see a lot of
- 31:32Speaker 1: these teams that succeed succeed with guys who are on
- 31:37Speaker 1: rookie quarter rookie deals or early career deals that are
- 31:40Speaker 1: far better than those deals. So all that Kirk versus
- 31:44Speaker 1: Dobbs a side thing. I just think it's exciting to
- 31:48Speaker 1: have a guy who brings an elopment to the game
- 31:50Speaker 1: that we haven't seen in a while, and I think
- 31:53Speaker 1: it's exciting to not not really know. Maybe it goes
- 31:59Speaker 1: down and flames the rest of the year, But also
- 32:01Speaker 1: I don't think so maybe it gets crazy. Maybe we're
- 32:04Speaker 1: a weird team that you're like, how the hell are
- 32:05Speaker 1: they in the NFC Championship game right now?
- 32:08Speaker 2: Yeah, it's funny that you say that, because I literally
- 32:12Speaker 2: was thinking to myself as a fan what everyone is
- 32:15Speaker 2: thinking these days, which is with the schedule ahead of
- 32:18Speaker 2: us and with the with the math on the playoffs,
- 32:22Speaker 2: we could find ourselves. We could find ourselves in the playoffs,
- 32:26Speaker 2: and what are the expectations? And I think with no
- 32:29Speaker 2: expectations on the shoulders of this team, mark my words,
- 32:32Speaker 2: if we get in as a as a wild card team,
- 32:37Speaker 2: I think we have a chance of winning a game.
- 32:40Speaker 2: And here's why. I think we saw an unfiltered Dobbs
- 32:46Speaker 2: with a pair down playbook, just playing school yard ball,
- 32:49Speaker 2: come out and be successful the moment he joined our team,
- 32:53Speaker 2: and and he won his first two games. Then he
- 32:57Speaker 2: gets into the play and he's got it. He's now
- 33:00Speaker 2: thinking about seven hundred things instead of two hundred, and
- 33:04Speaker 2: he throws a lot of picks. All right, the guy
- 33:07Speaker 2: can run it. You can watch him even in his failures.
- 33:11Speaker 2: He's not scanning one way. He's not doing the justin
- 33:15Speaker 2: fields thing where he'll look one way and throw it,
- 33:18Speaker 2: and he can be successful against a week defense or
- 33:22Speaker 2: throwing your reception. Josh Dobbs checks down and looks at
- 33:26Speaker 2: every single one of his options. Has he thrown some
- 33:28Speaker 2: bad balls? Yes he has. Do I think the bye
- 33:31Speaker 2: week really, really really is going to have been helpful
- 33:35Speaker 2: to him one thousand percent. I think we're going to
- 33:39Speaker 2: see a different Josh Doobbs. I think they've had time
- 33:42Speaker 2: to put in the right kind of plays for him
- 33:46Speaker 2: in our scheme we now and I don't think you
- 33:48Speaker 2: can underestimate the return of Jefferson. I don't care what
- 33:51Speaker 2: anybody says, but if you as if you have Osborne,
- 33:54Speaker 2: Addison and Jefferson, you have to be the Raiders. Even
- 33:58Speaker 2: though they have one of the top ten secondaries in
- 34:01Speaker 2: the league and by the numbers are holding quarterbacks, you
- 34:05Speaker 2: know to I think ninety something average QBR. I mean
- 34:08Speaker 2: their defense is playing well. I think we have a
- 34:11Speaker 2: good scheme against them this weekend. I trust our coaching
- 34:15Speaker 2: staff to have put in the right kind of the
- 34:17Speaker 2: right kind of plays. The naysayers are going to be surprised.
- 34:21Speaker 2: I think we win this game, and then I think
- 34:24Speaker 2: things get very, very interesting. And look what Flores has
- 34:29Speaker 2: done with the defense. That defense of ours has kept
- 34:32Speaker 2: us in. Yes, we had a couple of big blowouts,
- 34:35Speaker 2: but we we are so much better on defense. And
- 34:39Speaker 2: I think this kid mantell Us, Oh my gosh, what
- 34:42Speaker 2: a secret weapon. Well it's not a secret anymore, but
- 34:47Speaker 2: can do so many things. I really look and look
- 34:51Speaker 2: the Vegas offense. I don't believe in them. I believe
- 34:55Speaker 2: in our defense more than their offense. And I think
- 34:58Speaker 2: Dobbs doesn't throw oh fifteen picks this game, and I
- 35:02Speaker 2: think we win this game.
- 35:04Speaker 1: You said what I think is the most intriguing thing,
- 35:07Speaker 1: and I haven't heard anybody else hit on it, And
- 35:09Speaker 1: it's where my brain's been consistently. Everybody looks at that
- 35:13Speaker 1: last game against the Chicago Bears and they go, what
- 35:15Speaker 1: a disaster, what a And inarguable it was a disaster.
- 35:20Speaker 1: But I think if you look back at the first
- 35:23Speaker 1: time we played with Kirk, the minus the five hundred
- 35:27Speaker 1: live interception balls, right, let's call them the panic balls
- 35:31Speaker 1: that are happening right the uh oh throw it in
- 35:34Speaker 1: the air. The statistics were about Dobbs was twenty one
- 35:39Speaker 1: for thirty one for one to eighty one, Kirk was
- 35:42Speaker 1: twenty two for thirty two for one eighty five something
- 35:44Speaker 1: like that. That that is just clearly not a great
- 35:47Speaker 1: matchup for us, especially without Justin Jefferson. And I think
- 35:52Speaker 1: where everybody is pointing at the quarterback, going you need
- 35:56Speaker 1: to protect the ball. You can't make a couple of
- 35:58Speaker 1: these mistakes, and all that's true, true, I think what
- 36:01Speaker 1: the head coach is doing is going quietly, is going no, no, no, no, no,
- 36:06Speaker 1: I need to put you in a position. O'Connell is
- 36:11Speaker 1: such a good self scouter that I think when you
- 36:14Speaker 1: there was one play in that game where he dropped back,
- 36:17Speaker 1: he fell onto the right hash and he tried to
- 36:20Speaker 1: throw back and get it in between a high low
- 36:22Speaker 1: concept to Addison and it was picked off. And I
- 36:26Speaker 1: think that is a throw that somebody with Kirk Cousin's
- 36:29Speaker 1: arm talent layers that ball in there. And so I
- 36:35Speaker 1: don't know that this staff and this team is going
- 36:38Speaker 1: to spend the rest of the year pretending that Josh
- 36:42Speaker 1: Dobbs can achieve Kirk Cousin's arm talent. I expect them
- 36:46Speaker 1: to come out and I expect us to see more rollouts.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I expect now that Nick Mullins is healthy and is
- 36:52Speaker 1: an actual option, I expect them to be willing to
- 36:56Speaker 1: call some runs. I mean, this guy's the second best
- 36:59Speaker 1: running quarterback in the league, only to the greatest running
- 37:02Speaker 1: quarterback in NFL history. I think it was all possome.
- 37:07Speaker 1: I don't think they were ever even considering starting anybody
- 37:10Speaker 1: but Dobbs. I think you're exactly right. I think the
- 37:13Speaker 1: coaches approach this week is going to have people go,
- 37:16Speaker 1: oh shit, and.
- 37:18Speaker 2: You said something very important. I think the coaches knew
- 37:21Speaker 2: all along their starting Dobbs. I think they want to
- 37:23Speaker 2: get his competitive blood. This is a smart man, a
- 37:28Speaker 2: great competitor, a lifelong multi sport athlete before he just
- 37:33Speaker 2: went football. I think Josh Dobbs is going to have
- 37:36Speaker 2: a great game, and I think the reason is, you
- 37:40Speaker 2: hit the nail on the head. Their game plan is
- 37:42Speaker 2: going to be to spread that ball around so that
- 37:45Speaker 2: that Las Vegas defense does not know who's getting the
- 37:49Speaker 2: ball when and where and whether it's a runner or pass.
- 37:52Speaker 2: And they've had time to actually put that game plan in,
- 37:56Speaker 2: and I think that's the difference maker this weekend.
- 37:58Speaker 1: You see it so often with these young NFL coaches
- 38:01Speaker 1: because it's such a different breed of coach that we've
- 38:03Speaker 1: seen come in after McVeigh and Shanahan really put their
- 38:07Speaker 1: stamp on the league. We just saw it in Cincinnati,
- 38:10Speaker 1: in the Cincinnati Jacksonville game on Monday, Joe Burrow goes down.
- 38:13Speaker 1: They start Jake Browning against the Steelers. It's a disaster
- 38:17Speaker 1: because they're trying to do some Burrow esque things. And
- 38:20Speaker 1: if you listen to their staff this week, they put
- 38:23Speaker 1: in more RPO with second level looks. They put in
- 38:26Speaker 1: more boots and more play actions, and Jake Browning, a
- 38:29Speaker 1: guy that you most people listening didn't even know was
- 38:32Speaker 1: a human man, goes out and puts up eighty percent
- 38:36Speaker 1: on like three hundred some absurd stat line. And the
- 38:40Speaker 1: key there, and the reason why I think that's important
- 38:43Speaker 1: is because t Higgins came back. That's right, and so
- 38:46Speaker 1: now he's hand and Chase brown came back. So it's
- 38:49Speaker 1: a very similar like now we have our weapons, let's
- 38:53Speaker 1: let this guy do what he does within the weapons.
- 38:55Speaker 2: Let me go, let me go back to saying you
- 38:57Speaker 2: said earlier about design run plays for Dobbs. In that
- 39:00Speaker 2: Cincinnati game, Browning had two runs for very good yardage
- 39:06Speaker 2: at important parts of the game. Burrow is not that
- 39:10Speaker 2: kind of scrambler right now, and it was just enough.
- 39:14Speaker 2: I mean, announcers say it all the time. You get
- 39:18Speaker 2: in two run plays and the defense questions whether or
- 39:22Speaker 2: not that next play ten minutes later on another series
- 39:27Speaker 2: is going to be a run. I have a lot
- 39:29Speaker 2: of faith in our coaching staff on both sides of
- 39:32Speaker 2: the ball. I like Connell. I like the group he's
- 39:35Speaker 2: put together. I think they're going to design a really
- 39:38Speaker 2: good game plan to take advantage of the weaknesses that
- 39:41Speaker 2: the Raiders have. And I think they're going to bite
- 39:43Speaker 2: on a lot of stuff or we're gonna take advantage
- 39:45Speaker 2: of it.
- 39:45Speaker 1: And I think the funny thing about football is, you know,
- 39:49Speaker 1: they say it's a game of inches, and they say
- 39:51Speaker 1: it's a game of moments, And you can never dismiss
- 39:55Speaker 1: anything because that happens in every game everywhere. You can
- 39:59Speaker 1: never use it as an excuse. But I do think,
- 40:01Speaker 1: like if you go back to that Bears game, it's
- 40:05Speaker 1: such especially when you're not at full strength you don't
- 40:07Speaker 1: have justin Jefferson. You're playing with your backup quarterback. There
- 40:11Speaker 1: are moments in which, like that opening pass to Addison,
- 40:15Speaker 1: which is impossible to get a good replay for the
- 40:18Speaker 1: coaches to challenge it. But we all now know that
- 40:21Speaker 1: was a caught ball yep, right then. And as bad
- 40:24Speaker 1: as Dobbs was on some things, you know, it's a
- 40:26Speaker 1: team sport. That play where Addison didn't get his head,
- 40:29Speaker 1: which he said that, O'Connell said that, and it doinks
- 40:32Speaker 1: off and it's a pick he catches that he's probably
- 40:34Speaker 1: still running, He's probably he's probably in Canada on his
- 40:37Speaker 1: bye week, still running. And so then what does that
- 40:40Speaker 1: week look like? And so I think all that adds
- 40:43Speaker 1: up to let's see what it looks like this Sunday,
- 40:47Speaker 1: and then let's go from there. And I want to see,
- 40:51Speaker 1: after we moved on from Zimmer, this is what we
- 40:54Speaker 1: got this guy for. We wanted a guy who goes,
- 40:58Speaker 1: what are my pieces? I might fail, our team might
- 41:01Speaker 1: struggle in a game that we shouldn't have, But now
- 41:04Speaker 1: how am I gonna not do that the next week?
- 41:06Speaker 1: And I think you're right. I think that's who we
- 41:08Speaker 1: have in the building these days.
- 41:10Speaker 2: I think, and ironically Game of Inches is what they
- 41:15Speaker 2: called My whole day spent in the locker room with
- 41:17Speaker 2: Adrian Peterson Andrew.
- 41:23Speaker 1: I have this problem where I need shows to have
- 41:26Speaker 1: the perfect end, and I have a couple of questions
- 41:30Speaker 1: I need to ask you. But I've never wanted to
- 41:33Speaker 1: just cut to theme music better than after that moment?
- 41:37Speaker 1: What is the jay? What's the point? Why are we
- 41:39Speaker 1: still doing this show? That was too funny? We're gonna
- 41:44Speaker 1: do the one. Everybody hates this, but I do. We
- 41:46Speaker 1: got to do a prediction. Tell me what you think
- 41:49Speaker 1: it's Tell me what you think it's gonna look like.
- 41:50Speaker 1: Tell me what you think the score is gonna be.
- 41:52Speaker 2: I think we win this game twenty eight twenty one,
- 41:57Speaker 2: and I think it's not going to be that close.
- 42:01Speaker 2: I think Vegas gets a touchdown in garbage chime. I
- 42:04Speaker 2: think we're safely ahead and we hang on thanks to
- 42:08Speaker 2: our defense to win because I think Vegas makes the
- 42:11Speaker 2: adjustments at halftime. I think we go up at the half,
- 42:14Speaker 2: they make adjustments, we're safely ahead, we win, they score
- 42:18Speaker 2: more points than us in the second half. I think
- 42:21Speaker 2: that's how it's gonna go we hang on to win.
- 42:23Speaker 1: Looks a little bit like that Saints game. Yes, I'm
- 42:27Speaker 1: gonna go. I think defense is gonna be important too.
- 42:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna go. Raiders fourteen, Vikings one hundred and thirty eight. Okay, Andrew,
