- 0:07Speaker 1: It's the latest edition of Birdland Territory. Welcome to fan
- 0:11Speaker 1: Steve Maleski, Tim Barbelace, Brad Brock, and today as we
- 0:15Speaker 1: take this, we're one week ahead of the twenty twenty
- 0:20Speaker 1: six Major League Baseball All Star Games set for Philadelphia.
- 0:25Speaker 1: It was ten years ago. One member of our show
- 0:28Speaker 1: spoiler alert, it wasn't Tim.
- 0:29Speaker 2: It wasn't me. No major league based All Star game.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I don't know about you, Tim, Kingsville Rec Council All
- 0:36Speaker 1: Star Game once.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Yeah, I was in that.
- 0:40Speaker 1: No, don't have that on the rest, but Brad Brock does.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Oriol Fans with good memories will remember the oriols Cent
- 0:47Speaker 1: a Hall of players of that game in twenty sixteen.
- 0:50Speaker 1: Brad was there with teammates Zach Britton, Mark Trumbo, Matt Wheeters,
- 0:54Speaker 1: and Manny Machado who started that game the American League One.
- 0:58Speaker 2: It was in San Diego, the team.
- 1:00Speaker 1: That originally drafted and brought Brad to the big leagues.
- 1:03Speaker 1: There's a lot of cool aspects of that day we're
- 1:06Speaker 1: going to share with you today through Brad's mementos and
- 1:09Speaker 1: remembrances and all that. And so Brad, we want to
- 1:13Speaker 1: talk about that special day and game for you, But
- 1:16Speaker 1: we want to start leading up to what got you there,
- 1:19Speaker 1: and that was amazing pitching in the first half of
- 1:22Speaker 1: twenty sixteen, and fans can look up the stats as
- 1:25Speaker 1: I did.
- 1:26Speaker 2: In your first half. You were six and one with.
- 1:30Speaker 1: An O nine to one ERA and ANA three to
- 1:33Speaker 1: one whip in forty nine and the third innings. They
- 1:35Speaker 1: weren't shy about getting in the games first half of
- 1:38Speaker 1: the season in twenty sixteen, and again not being the
- 1:43Speaker 1: regular closer on the team, you really got to light
- 1:46Speaker 1: it up back in those days to make the All
- 1:49Speaker 1: Star team as a reliever, and you did.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Man, when you.
- 1:51Speaker 1: Think back to that first half, that must bring back
- 1:55Speaker 1: some pretty good memories.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Yeah, it does. And it's like you're going through a
- 2:00Speaker 3: season like that, you're just trying not to think about it.
- 2:03Speaker 3: You're just going out there whenever your name is called
- 2:05Speaker 3: and just trying to put up zeros. And that's kind
- 2:08Speaker 3: of all I was doing, especially with the season Zach
- 2:10Speaker 3: was having and obviously Darren helping out, Michael Gibbons, guys
- 2:13Speaker 3: like that. Just you just didn't want to disappoint anybody
- 2:15Speaker 3: and our team we played a bunch of close games,
- 2:18Speaker 3: so as a reliever, you want to go in there
- 2:20Speaker 3: in those close games and just pitch well, and it
- 2:22Speaker 3: just it kind of got off to a you know,
- 2:25Speaker 3: hot start, and I just kind of rolled with it
- 2:27Speaker 3: from there. During that first half, I do remember pitching
- 2:29Speaker 3: a lot of multiple inning outings, so that's kind of
- 2:33Speaker 3: when I was having good games. I think I had
- 2:34Speaker 3: a couple I think it was almost two plus outings
- 2:38Speaker 3: during that and it was just kind of it was
- 2:40Speaker 3: kind of nice because you got into rhythm and you
- 2:41Speaker 3: didn't have to kind of spread it out over a
- 2:43Speaker 3: couple of days. I was able to rack up a
- 2:45Speaker 3: couple outings there where you know, multiple innings helped with
- 2:48Speaker 3: the inning total and everything. But it was definitely a
- 2:52Speaker 3: fun half and it was something that I'll definitely never
- 2:54Speaker 3: forget and hopefully can share with my kids one day
- 2:56Speaker 3: because they obviously weren't weren't there to witness and everything,
- 2:59Speaker 3: but it was it was a really special time and
- 3:02Speaker 3: just a fun half.
- 3:02Speaker 4: Really, was there a moment there for you, though, Brad?
- 3:07Speaker 4: Like those numbers that Steve gave, they're pretty ridiculous type numbers, Like.
- 3:12Speaker 2: That's the best groove of your career?
- 3:14Speaker 4: Like, was there a moment where you're like, Okay, this
- 3:17Speaker 4: could be a special year for me.
- 3:19Speaker 3: You know. There, I wouldn't say like a particular moment.
- 3:22Speaker 3: There was just that there was a few outings in there,
- 3:24Speaker 3: like I faced Kansas City at Kansas City and at
- 3:27Speaker 3: the time, you know, facing them in fourteen and fifteen
- 3:29Speaker 3: weren't our favorite opponents, but I had a couple of
- 3:33Speaker 3: really good outings against them, and I knew there was
- 3:35Speaker 3: manager choices and stuff like that, so I knew i'd
- 3:38Speaker 3: fitch really well against the Royals, and I had a
- 3:41Speaker 3: couple good outings against the Blue Jays that were multiple innings,
- 3:43Speaker 3: and it just kind of you get to June, and honestly,
- 3:47Speaker 3: with Darrin o Day making it the year before, him
- 3:49Speaker 3: being like a really great mentor towards me, it made
- 3:52Speaker 3: me hopeful that with the SATs I had, I could
- 3:55Speaker 3: make the All Star Game, because really I only thought
- 3:57Speaker 3: of it being as closers and starters that make the game.
- 3:59Speaker 3: But Darren making it the year before just really kind
- 4:03Speaker 3: of started to, you know, pequ my interest there. Once
- 4:05Speaker 3: I got to like June because me and reliever, your
- 4:07Speaker 3: stats can get blown up after one outing, so it
- 4:09Speaker 3: got to like June and I was like, maybe if
- 4:11Speaker 3: I hold this down for another month, here I got.
- 4:13Speaker 3: I got a shot that kind of join Darren what
- 4:15Speaker 3: he did the year before. So it started somewhere around June,
- 4:18Speaker 3: I said, I probably started to realize that if I
- 4:20Speaker 3: can kind of keep this going, maybe I'll have a
- 4:22Speaker 3: shot to go to the game.
- 4:24Speaker 2: Do you remember how you found out you were going?
- 4:27Speaker 3: Yeah? Actually, Buck sent a text to my wife and
- 4:30Speaker 3: was like, Hey, is Brad around, Can you speak to
- 4:33Speaker 3: me real quick? And she was like right now, And
- 4:35Speaker 3: she showed me the text after and then after she
- 4:38Speaker 3: came out of the she went to the bathroom in
- 4:40Speaker 3: the hotel room. She came out and was like, yeah,
- 4:43Speaker 3: you're going. You're heading to the All Star Game. And
- 4:45Speaker 3: that night, obviously they had the selection show, so they
- 4:48Speaker 3: wanted me to know beforehand as opposed to finding out
- 4:51Speaker 3: like on the TV. And so I had a chance
- 4:53Speaker 3: to like talk to family members and friends and that
- 4:55Speaker 3: kind of thing. But then it was just a slew
- 4:57Speaker 3: of text messages and phone calls. And I actually still
- 4:59Speaker 3: have like like four or five voicemails saved my phone
- 5:02Speaker 3: from when I got phone calls from college pitching coach,
- 5:06Speaker 3: a guy who was a bullpen catcher in San Diego.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Just other family members and stuff like that. It was
- 5:11Speaker 3: just something I really wanted to remember, and I'm glad
- 5:13Speaker 3: I still have stuff like that to look back because now,
- 5:16Speaker 3: especially like ten years, I think at the you know,
- 5:18Speaker 3: the five year, ten year, twenty year market kind of
- 5:20Speaker 3: just has like an extra special meaning to it, and
- 5:23Speaker 3: you kind of really look back now that my career
- 5:25Speaker 3: is over looked back and just you know, it's very
- 5:28Speaker 3: fond memories and just a unbelievable experience and I'm like
- 5:31Speaker 3: extremely grateful, humbled that I was able to be a
- 5:34Speaker 3: part of something like that.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Wow. So Buck told your wife to tell you.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, he just he wanted He's always big, He
- 5:43Speaker 3: was always big on that, like getting family members involved,
- 5:46Speaker 3: and just kind of he wanted her to be the
- 5:48Speaker 3: one to kind of break the news to me that
- 5:49Speaker 3: that it was gonna happen. So he he went behind
- 5:52Speaker 3: my back and just kind of told her and she
- 5:54Speaker 3: let me know that, Hey, we're heading to San Diego
- 5:56Speaker 3: next week, and it was just, I mean, the slew
- 5:58Speaker 3: of emotions was unbelievable.
- 6:01Speaker 4: What was the meaning like like in that moment, Brad,
- 6:05Speaker 4: Because when we did the Show with Jim kallis what
- 6:07Speaker 4: a week ago and just saying now, a forty second
- 6:09Speaker 4: round pick and to even make it to the big
- 6:12Speaker 4: leagues is a big enough accomplishment in and of itself.
- 6:16Speaker 4: But to make an All Star Game, as you know,
- 6:19Speaker 4: a late round pick, a late round pick that doesn't
- 6:22Speaker 4: even exist in today's baseball.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Like what does that mean? Like in that moment, Yeah,
- 6:27Speaker 3: it was like it's like hard to put into words
- 6:30Speaker 3: at the moment, would it met? Because it was like,
- 6:33Speaker 3: as I'm going through a honor the career, like you said,
- 6:35Speaker 3: four second round pick. I always made the goal of
- 6:37Speaker 3: making the All Star team at every level I was
- 6:39Speaker 3: at because to me, I felt like I needed to
- 6:41Speaker 3: pitch well in order to stay in professional not even
- 6:44Speaker 3: thinking about the big leagues at the time. So it's
- 6:46Speaker 3: just funny because once I got to the big leagues,
- 6:48Speaker 3: you kind of establish yourself as a guy on a team,
- 6:51Speaker 3: those like dreams and like aspirations like somehow they went away.
- 6:55Speaker 3: And I started working with a mental skills coach in
- 6:57Speaker 3: the middle of twenty fifteen and he was kind of
- 6:59Speaker 3: like why did you stop having that as a goal,
- 7:02Speaker 3: And it was like kind of a very insightful thought
- 7:06Speaker 3: to have and like thing to think about, like why
- 7:08Speaker 3: did I stop trying to be an All Star? Like
- 7:10Speaker 3: that's the goal, right, you want to be one of
- 7:11Speaker 3: the best players at your position in the league every year.
- 7:13Speaker 3: So it really started happening in the second half of fifteen.
- 7:17Speaker 3: I just kind of put in my head like, hey,
- 7:20Speaker 3: I want to make this a goal. I want to
- 7:21Speaker 3: make an All Star Game. And whether I know, wiled
- 7:24Speaker 3: it into existence or just kind of felt like I
- 7:26Speaker 3: kind of came into my own with Baltimore and just
- 7:28Speaker 3: felt really comfortable. I don't know what it was. And
- 7:29Speaker 3: like I said, with the Darren ol Day selection, it
- 7:32Speaker 3: really kind of like, hey, this is the possibility. Why
- 7:35Speaker 3: can't you be a guy like Darren you know you've
- 7:37Speaker 3: seen it done and just go out there and perform
- 7:40Speaker 3: and put up the numbers and maybe you'd have a shot.
- 7:41Speaker 3: So I mean, at the time, it was just like
- 7:43Speaker 3: a whirlwind of emotions, but just just really proud of
- 7:46Speaker 3: the work that I put in, especially kind of struggling
- 7:48Speaker 3: at the big leagues when I was with San Diego.
- 7:50Speaker 3: Came over to Baltimore kind of find trying to find
- 7:53Speaker 3: my role and then somewhere along twenty fifteen, it kind
- 7:56Speaker 3: of started to click and my stuff started playing up,
- 7:59Speaker 3: and I just thought myself in a comfortable spot and
- 8:01Speaker 3: it was just it was really surreal.
- 8:05Speaker 2: Wow, what a great time to be an Orio fan.
- 8:07Speaker 2: That twenty twelve through sixteen, three playoff appearances, the Orioles
- 8:11Speaker 2: led the American League and wins. They were beating the
- 8:14Speaker 2: best teams in the league routinely, and they were contending
- 8:18Speaker 2: for the postseason and in it three times. And in
- 8:21Speaker 2: twenty sixteen, Brad Brock and four other teammates went to
- 8:24Speaker 2: the All Star Game. Man, that is pretty cool.
- 8:26Speaker 1: So we are going to spend some more time on
- 8:29Speaker 1: this show talking about some momentos and some things that
- 8:33Speaker 1: were pretty special. Tim, Why are you smiling so much
- 8:36Speaker 1: right now?
- 8:38Speaker 2: Parking right now? Oh? We can't, I can't. No, you're good, Okay,
- 8:45Speaker 2: you'd tell the dog O. It's okay. Man.
- 8:48Speaker 1: We're excited about Brad's All Star appearents ten years ago,
- 8:51Speaker 1: and if he wants to bark a little bit, it's
- 8:55Speaker 1: worth barking about.
- 8:56Speaker 2: But we're going to come back.
- 8:57Speaker 1: We're going to show some mementos Brad has from that day,
- 9:00Speaker 1: that game, those days and talk more about his All
- 9:03Speaker 1: Star Games All Star experience in twenty sixteen.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Coming up today on Birdland Territory.
- 9:09Speaker 5: Hey for the families out there looking for a different

- 9:25Speaker 5: done the homeschooling thing in the past. I know you
- 9:28Speaker 5: liked it.
- 9:29Speaker 6: Yeah, I did. I liked it a lot. All my
- 9:30Speaker 6: kids have done it before. It's an opportunity for them
- 9:34Speaker 6: to stay at home and enjoy school just as much.
- 9:37Speaker 6: They learn a lot. And this is an opportunity for
- 9:40Speaker 6: families that are on the go too as well. They
- 9:42Speaker 6: have to understand, listen, can't be at a regular school
- 9:45Speaker 6: at all times. I need my child to be doing this,
- 9:48Speaker 6: whether it's an athletic career or whatever stature they are at.
- 9:51Speaker 6: And we loved every second of it, and I think
- 9:54Speaker 6: it is an easy opportunity for some children.

- 10:12Speaker 1: Ten years ago at Bergland Territory, teammate Brad Brock was
- 10:15Speaker 1: an American League All Star twenty sixteen San Diego. So, Brad,
- 10:19Speaker 1: we've been talking about it a little bit, and so
- 10:21Speaker 1: a lot of emotions hit you. Your wife tells you you're
- 10:24Speaker 1: an All Star, you get to share with four other teammates.
- 10:27Speaker 1: What was it like when you walked into the clubhouse
- 10:30Speaker 1: in San Diego and looked around that room.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it was. It's it's almost like I
- 10:37Speaker 3: it's like you feel like you shouldn't be there kind
- 10:39Speaker 3: of thing, Like it's a weird thing, like they said,
- 10:42Speaker 3: being I think just being such a late round draft pick.
- 10:44Speaker 3: And I was thirty years old at the time, and
- 10:46Speaker 3: you was just wondering if like half these guys even
- 10:48Speaker 3: know who I am. You know, as a reliever, you're
- 10:50Speaker 3: out there every so a little so often. But it was,
- 10:53Speaker 3: it was, it was unbelievable. When you go around you
- 10:55Speaker 3: just look at the names over there, I mean future
- 10:57Speaker 3: Hall of famers, David Ortiz, Beltron and when in Carsonione,
- 11:03Speaker 3: you have Miguel Cabrera. The names just go on and on.
- 11:06Speaker 3: I mean every year the obviously the All Star rosters
- 11:08Speaker 3: are loaded, but that year especially, I think now looking back,
- 11:11Speaker 3: I mean there's a potential to have five, six, seven
- 11:14Speaker 3: All Stars that I mean all Stars in that team
- 11:17Speaker 3: that could end up being in the Hall of Fame,
- 11:18Speaker 3: which is just, I mean, unbelievable looking back. So it
- 11:21Speaker 3: was just kind of a starstruck moment. But it was
- 11:25Speaker 3: kind of surreal too because that was the home clubhouse
- 11:27Speaker 3: I first knew when I when I came in, so
- 11:29Speaker 3: as I walked in the doors, it was a very
- 11:31Speaker 3: familiar place. But at the same time, I'm like, this
- 11:33Speaker 3: is not what I remember after when I last left
- 11:36Speaker 3: this clubhouse in twenty thirteen with the Padres.
- 11:39Speaker 4: I've done that a little bit before the break, Brad, Like,
- 11:42Speaker 4: how much of a full circle moment was that, Like
- 11:46Speaker 4: going back to the ballpark, the organization in which you
- 11:50Speaker 4: made your debut with that we're just drafted by.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Yeah, it was. It was unbelievable. I think if I
- 11:56Speaker 3: could have hand selected an All Star game, I think
- 11:59Speaker 3: that would have been the one to kind of, like
- 12:01Speaker 3: you said, it was full circle. I love the Padgers
- 12:03Speaker 3: organization always have. I mean, I'm so grateful for them
- 12:06Speaker 3: just to give me a chance, even though it was
- 12:08Speaker 3: a late round pick. They're the team that gave me
- 12:10Speaker 3: a chance and where I learned how to pitch. Are
- 12:12Speaker 3: the big league level. When I got to the Oriols,
- 12:14Speaker 3: I took it to another level. But that's where I
- 12:16Speaker 3: kind of you know, I was twenty five when I
- 12:18Speaker 3: got called up and was just kind of trying to
- 12:20Speaker 3: figure it out as I go. And then as I
- 12:22Speaker 3: walk in the clubhouse, the head clubhouse manager of the
- 12:25Speaker 3: All Star Game was a guy had in Triple A, TJ. TJ.
- 12:28Speaker 3: Laidlaw was. He was the clubhouse guys. I walked in
- 12:31Speaker 3: and he's just like, man, He's like, it's awesome seeing you.
- 12:35Speaker 6: Hear.
- 12:35Speaker 3: He's like, I mean, talk about a moment, like last
- 12:38Speaker 3: time I saw you, You're in Tucson, and now you're
- 12:39Speaker 3: here in San Diego as an All Star. He's like,
- 12:41Speaker 3: I just the guys were so happy for me. It
- 12:43Speaker 3: was really cool to get to see them. You get
- 12:46Speaker 3: to know a lot of the clubhouse guys, especially in
- 12:48Speaker 3: the minor leagues. You spend a lot of time with
- 12:50Speaker 3: those guys when you're in Triple A, you're traveling with
- 12:51Speaker 3: them there, you know, give you the food that can
- 12:55Speaker 3: get you through the day each day, especially in two
- 12:56Speaker 3: soun Whent's one hundred and twenty degrees out every day.
- 12:58Speaker 3: So to see him again I walked in, it was
- 13:00Speaker 3: just it kind of put me at ease there because
- 13:02Speaker 3: then I really did start start to feel a little
- 13:05Speaker 3: bit more comfortable because it was, like I said, it
- 13:06Speaker 3: was a place I was very familiar with walking in
- 13:08Speaker 3: that San Diego clubhouse.
- 13:11Speaker 1: What are we looking at here, Brad? And what memories
- 13:13Speaker 1: does this bring back to you?
- 13:14Speaker 3: Yeah? So this is the picture. This is like one
- 13:16Speaker 3: of the cool stories I like to tell about now
- 13:18Speaker 3: that I'm done, because when you're playing, you can't really
- 13:21Speaker 3: show guys this, Like I'm gonna be facing David Ortiz
- 13:23Speaker 3: in a week or two. And Ryan Flaherty apparently likes
- 13:26Speaker 3: to He's a trickster. He likes to play some prank.
- 13:29Speaker 3: So he packed that five hundred chain in my bag.
- 13:34Speaker 3: And when I got to my locker, it was hanging
- 13:37Speaker 3: from one of the you know, like belt strap things
- 13:39Speaker 3: up there, and Zach Britton sees it. We got that
- 13:42Speaker 3: it was a giveaway. When we were playing the Red
- 13:45Speaker 3: Sox earlier that year, Fenway celebrating ortizes five hundred home run,
- 13:49Speaker 3: so of course Zach sees it. He tells me to
- 13:50Speaker 3: put it on. He's like, hey, Poppy, come on over here.
- 13:53Speaker 3: You take a picture with Brad. And I'm like, this
- 13:55Speaker 3: is not I don't know if this is okay, Like
- 13:57Speaker 3: can I do this? But after I'm done doing this.
- 14:00Speaker 3: The week before, he had a home run off me
- 14:02Speaker 3: over the Red Sox bullpen and it was in the
- 14:05Speaker 3: ninth inning. It was kind of like his you know,
- 14:06Speaker 3: his going away tour, so every bad he had the
- 14:09Speaker 3: crowds going nuts. He hit a ball so far off
- 14:11Speaker 3: of me as of them. I look, it's going over
- 14:14Speaker 3: the bullpen. It hits the stands and he's still standing
- 14:17Speaker 3: in the in the batter's box. And at the time
- 14:19Speaker 3: it wasn't very happy, and I'm like, you got to
- 14:21Speaker 3: be kidding me, Like I understand this is like your
- 14:23Speaker 3: farewell tour, but it's a five to nothing game. I'm
- 14:25Speaker 3: having a pretty good season two And I mean he pimped.
- 14:28Speaker 3: He pimped it so bad. So after we were done
- 14:31Speaker 3: taking the picture, I was like, hey, man, next time,
- 14:32Speaker 3: you hit a home run off me, could you could
- 14:34Speaker 3: you not helicopter me and fall into the other batter's box,
- 14:36Speaker 3: maybe just run a little bit quick. He's like, oh, Poppy,
- 14:38Speaker 3: my back. You know, it's it's bothering me these days.
- 14:41Speaker 3: And so it was just a really cool memory to happen.
- 14:43Speaker 3: Like I said, I'm at the time, I was a
- 14:45Speaker 3: little nervous taking the picture, but I'm really glad I
- 14:47Speaker 3: have that memory and can kind of look back and
- 14:48Speaker 3: tell the story of it, because I mean, it's David Ertiz.
- 14:51Speaker 3: He's one of the better players of our generation and
- 14:54Speaker 3: obviously Hall of Famer. So just really cool momentum the
- 14:56Speaker 3: half of that game and stuff like that, like you
- 14:58Speaker 3: just wouldn't expect to happen when you're there, and uh,
- 15:01Speaker 3: it was just really really cool. Thanks to Flaherty for
- 15:03Speaker 3: pretty in that uh that fake chain that we had
- 15:06Speaker 3: there too.
- 15:08Speaker 4: Well, now go ahead, Jim, I was gonna say, well,
- 15:12Speaker 4: what were some of your favorite moment mementos from that
- 15:15Speaker 4: week that you got?
- 15:16Speaker 3: Yeah? Yeah, players, Yeah we had so I didn't know, guys,
- 15:21Speaker 3: I talked about there being an all star ring So
- 15:24Speaker 3: do the best I can to show this as I
- 15:26Speaker 3: can here the uh so every player gets an All
- 15:29Speaker 3: Star ring and when at the end of the week,
- 15:31Speaker 3: we got one of these and it just has the
- 15:33Speaker 3: American League symbol on this side with the Padre symbol
- 15:36Speaker 3: and there also trying to do the best I can
- 15:38Speaker 3: with the focusing part. And then this ide just has
- 15:40Speaker 3: the All Star Game symbol on it and just kind
- 15:42Speaker 3: of just a really cool momento there that we got
- 15:45Speaker 3: at the end. And like I said, I wasn't expecting
- 15:47Speaker 3: it kind of thing. But every player gets one of
- 15:49Speaker 3: these every year that I come to learn, and that
- 15:51Speaker 3: was kind of cool, and you know that to me,
- 15:53Speaker 3: I always loved the different baseballs, whether it was Mother's Day,
- 15:56Speaker 3: Father's Day. I always kept a bunch of them. So
- 15:58Speaker 3: the baseball's had a and yellow stitch on them. This
- 16:01Speaker 3: is actually the ball I warmed up with. I unfortunately
- 16:03Speaker 3: didn't get in the game, but I warmed up twice.
- 16:06Speaker 3: Ned Yos called down to the bullpen was like, hey,
- 16:08Speaker 3: I'm gonna try to get you in this game, but
- 16:10Speaker 3: if you warm up a second time and don't go in,
- 16:12Speaker 3: He's like, I'm not gonna be able to get you
- 16:13Speaker 3: in this game because I don't want to have to
- 16:14Speaker 3: fill a phone call from Buck that you warmed up
- 16:17Speaker 3: three times before you went in this game. He's like,
- 16:19Speaker 3: you've pitched a lot this year, so he's like, I'm
- 16:20Speaker 3: gonna do with the best I can, but just don't
- 16:23Speaker 3: get mad at me if I can't get you in
- 16:24Speaker 3: the game. So just the baseball's warming up. I always
- 16:27Speaker 3: enjoyed this was a So we had our practice jerseys
- 16:31Speaker 3: lined up in the clubhouse for all the guys to sign,
- 16:34Speaker 3: and Zach Britton actually got this frame for me after
- 16:37Speaker 3: the game, so I mean that's pretty much the entire
- 16:39Speaker 3: roster signed there on my practice jersey. So that's always
- 16:43Speaker 3: a cool one to have and to show people whenever
- 16:45Speaker 3: they come down to a little bit of a man
- 16:47Speaker 3: cave that I have. And then I have my jersey
- 16:49Speaker 3: from the game too, which a lot of people I
- 16:51Speaker 3: don't know. I think they know about the stars in
- 16:53Speaker 3: the back a lot of times. Obviously the All Star
- 16:56Speaker 3: Game patch on this here, and then I thought the
- 16:59Speaker 3: coolest part of these jerseys are that you have your
- 17:02Speaker 3: signature in gold on the bottom and the stars represent
- 17:05Speaker 3: how many All Star Games you've made. So you can
- 17:07Speaker 3: imagine going around that clubhouse and seeing these hanging up
- 17:10Speaker 3: and you see Ortiz which has ten stars on his
- 17:13Speaker 3: and some of the other guys that had you know,
- 17:15Speaker 3: seven eight games and they have all those stars on
- 17:17Speaker 3: theirs also. It's so that was just a placer was
- 17:24Speaker 3: special to me because you know, it's from San Diego.
- 17:26Speaker 3: It's got the the Peco Park kind of outside on it,
- 17:30Speaker 3: it has the dates on it and everything like that.
- 17:32Speaker 3: So just stuff like that I always enjoyed when I
- 17:35Speaker 3: was playing, just the little kind of kind of details
- 17:38Speaker 3: that we had, like whether it's fourth of July, Father's Day,
- 17:40Speaker 3: Memorial Day. I always enjoyed the clees. I enjoyed the
- 17:43Speaker 3: different balls that we use and stuff like that, and
- 17:45Speaker 3: so I always thought that was cool. And then one
- 17:46Speaker 3: of the cooler things that I got was an actual
- 17:48Speaker 3: invitation to the game, which was I mean, not expecting this.
- 17:52Speaker 3: It shows up and it says, you know, special invitation
- 17:55Speaker 3: from the commissioner. It's got this cool little sticker on
- 17:57Speaker 3: the back, and then it's got like a like if
- 17:59Speaker 3: you're getting I did to like some fancy gala. It's
- 18:02Speaker 3: got the All Star Game symbol on it, and then
- 18:04Speaker 3: on the inside it's just got an actual invitation and
- 18:07Speaker 3: it's you know, really nice cardboard that it's on and
- 18:10Speaker 3: it just says welcome to the Midsummer Class and congratulations
- 18:13Speaker 3: the link in the game with Manfreend's signature on it.
- 18:15Speaker 3: So just kind of a lot of this stuff as
- 18:17Speaker 3: I went through the week. I'm glad I kept. It
- 18:20Speaker 3: was kind of a whirlwind as you're going through it,
- 18:21Speaker 3: so I'm glad I was able to keep a bunch.
- 18:23Speaker 3: And then I think my one of my favorite things.
- 18:27Speaker 3: I'm a big cleek guy. So one of the cooler
- 18:29Speaker 3: things that we got was a package from Nike and
- 18:32Speaker 3: I think I have a I think there's a couple
- 18:34Speaker 3: of pictures of that. And it was just a box
- 18:36Speaker 3: from Nike that was there sitting at your locker when
- 18:38Speaker 3: you got to the game, and it just said congratulations,
- 18:40Speaker 3: I'm making the All Star game. And it had a
- 18:42Speaker 3: special pair of cleats. That's the box right there, So
- 18:45Speaker 3: it was just sitting at your locker and as you
- 18:47Speaker 3: opened it up, it had this green plastic on top
- 18:49Speaker 3: and it had the cleats, trainers and a pair of
- 18:52Speaker 3: sunglasses in there, and then obviously it's there it just
- 18:54Speaker 3: says congratulations on being selected and thanks for being part
- 18:57Speaker 3: of the Nike team, and to me, that was one
- 18:59Speaker 3: of the coolest things. I'm just so glad I was
- 19:01Speaker 3: able to somehow ship it from San Diego back to
- 19:04Speaker 3: my house in Nashville and it's still all intact, and
- 19:06Speaker 3: the cleats are still there. I never wore them after that,
- 19:09Speaker 3: and the turfs I just wore during batting practice and
- 19:11Speaker 3: they're sitting in there also, So, like I said, just
- 19:13Speaker 3: kind of one of those things I never really get
- 19:15Speaker 3: to show many people because it's sitting in my closet
- 19:18Speaker 3: and I don't know what to do with it. So
- 19:19Speaker 3: I just thought it'd be cool to kind of show
- 19:21Speaker 3: people kind of the day backstage pass on what you
- 19:24Speaker 3: kind of get and what's there during the game, and
- 19:26Speaker 3: just kind of all the stuff that happens behind the scenes.
- 19:31Speaker 2: Pretty cool stuff, pretty cool stuff.
- 19:32Speaker 1: And Brad, thanks for sharing that so Birdland could see that,
- 19:36Speaker 1: and you know, throughout our careers and I wish I'd
- 19:39Speaker 1: say more things along the way. And Tim, being a
- 19:43Speaker 1: young guy, there's the message to you. Yeah, things that
- 19:46Speaker 1: are special that don't seem as special today, put that
- 19:49Speaker 1: away in a box.
- 19:50Speaker 2: In five years from now, you're gonna be glad you did.
- 19:53Speaker 1: And so we're talking with Brad Brock about the twenty
- 19:56Speaker 1: sixteen All Star Game in San Diego the team. We'll
- 20:01Speaker 1: tell you about some of the other players in that
- 20:03Speaker 1: game and talk to Brad Moore about that game in
- 20:05Speaker 1: a minute here on Birdland Territory.

- 21:08Speaker 2: Was going back Brad and looking at the Pox score.
- 21:10Speaker 1: Just a couple guys who started for the National League
- 21:13Speaker 1: included Bryce Harper, Chris Bryant, Buster Posey, Anthony Rizzo. In
- 21:17Speaker 1: the starting lineup for the American League, some players are
- 21:20Speaker 1: Manny Machada of course in the Orioles, Mike Trout, Oseel Tuve,
- 21:24Speaker 1: David Ortiz, Eric Cosmer, Salvi Perez, Chris Sale got to
- 21:28Speaker 1: start on the mound the American League one four to two.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Zach Britton saved it scorelessending at the end. And so
- 21:36Speaker 1: how badly did the players want to win the game
- 21:39Speaker 1: in twenty sixteen.
- 21:40Speaker 3: Yeah, at the time it was for home field advantage
- 21:43Speaker 3: of the World Series, So it was pretty important at
- 21:46Speaker 3: the time. And as I went through the experience and
- 21:48Speaker 3: got done with it, it's crazy that that that was the
- 21:51Speaker 3: stake of the game, because there's so much that goes
- 21:53Speaker 3: on when you're there, Like for us, flying from the
- 21:55Speaker 3: East Coast to the West coast, you get in when
- 21:57Speaker 3: it's dark, it's at least ten o'clock at night when
- 21:59Speaker 3: you get the the next day you have all the
- 22:01Speaker 3: home run derby, which Trumbull was involved in, and that
- 22:04Speaker 3: was an awesome experience too, just having a teammate and
- 22:06Speaker 3: getting to watch Jet Ruiz the bullpen catcher for us.
- 22:10Speaker 3: He was one of my good buddies on the team.
- 22:12Speaker 3: Throw him the batting practice during the home run derby,
- 22:14Speaker 3: So that was that was an awesome experience getting to
- 22:16Speaker 3: do that. But you go from that to after that game,
- 22:19Speaker 3: there's a players party which they encourage everyone to kind
- 22:22Speaker 3: of just go and you know, you enjoy it and
- 22:24Speaker 3: you have fun. Jamie Fox was the singer of the
- 22:26Speaker 3: of the night there and guys are having a good time.
- 22:28Speaker 3: But then the next day you're waking up early for a
- 22:30Speaker 3: brunch and then you're doing the Red Red carpet show
- 22:33Speaker 3: and you go to the stadium right after that and
- 22:34Speaker 3: you have to play a game that actually means something.
- 22:36Speaker 3: So it was just it was like a complete, just
- 22:40Speaker 3: tornado of events that goes on and you're like getting ready,
- 22:43Speaker 3: Like I said, I'm warm up for that game, and
- 22:45Speaker 3: if I came in, it was gonna be with guys
- 22:46Speaker 3: on base. So it was a big deal when I
- 22:48Speaker 3: came in. You don't want to be the one that
- 22:50Speaker 3: kind of blows it for your league when it comes
- 22:52Speaker 3: to the World Series having most home games. So it
- 22:55Speaker 3: was it was a lot and at the time, we're
- 22:56Speaker 3: in first play, so we're thinking we're gonna be the
- 22:58Speaker 3: ones that are gonna, you know, take advantage of having
- 23:01Speaker 3: the home field advantage, and you're imagining the World Series
- 23:04Speaker 3: being at Candy Yards. You just all these things kind
- 23:06Speaker 3: of flooded come flooding to your mind as you're warming
- 23:09Speaker 3: up for the game, getting ready for the game. But
- 23:11Speaker 3: it's just a lot going on. So you're like, I'm
- 23:13Speaker 3: glad they took that away. So maybe guys can like
- 23:15Speaker 3: really just kind of embrace the thing, because at the
- 23:18Speaker 3: end of the day, you want to perform and you
- 23:20Speaker 3: want to do your job at the best, and when
- 23:21Speaker 3: you know something on the line, you're going to try
- 23:23Speaker 3: to do your best at that. So it's it's I
- 23:25Speaker 3: think it's a good thing they got rid of the
- 23:26Speaker 3: home field advantage thing, because you said in twenty sixteen
- 23:29Speaker 3: it mattered a lot, and it was just it was
- 23:31Speaker 3: just a lot going on that if I had other
- 23:34Speaker 3: All Star Game experiences, maybe wouldn't it felt as overwhelming
- 23:37Speaker 3: as it was, but at that time, you're like, man,
- 23:39Speaker 3: I just don't want to be the guy that comes
- 23:41Speaker 3: to the game and closed this right.
- 23:43Speaker 4: How cool was it? Steve mentioned at the top five Orioles, like,
- 23:48Speaker 4: that's that's a lot of All Stars for one team.
- 23:51Speaker 4: How cool was it just to experience that with four
- 23:54Speaker 4: other teammates.
- 23:55Speaker 3: Yeah, it was awesome. I mean, and getting to have
- 23:57Speaker 3: Matt Weavers there which I throw to all the time,
- 23:59Speaker 3: and then seeing Manny start the game and Zach and
- 24:01Speaker 3: the save in the game. It was just I mean,
- 24:04Speaker 3: we played a big part in it, and it was
- 24:05Speaker 3: really cool to, you know, say, I was a part
- 24:07Speaker 3: of those five guys being a part of the game,
- 24:09Speaker 3: and I mean it was a huge honor, and I'm
- 24:12Speaker 3: glad those guys were with me, and I'm glad we
- 24:14Speaker 3: had such a big group because we got a nice
- 24:16Speaker 3: group photo together that I'll have forever. And just like
- 24:19Speaker 3: getting to be able to experience with guys who've done
- 24:21Speaker 3: it multiple times, and for all those guys it was there,
- 24:24Speaker 3: you know, second, third, maybe fourth, fifth time that those
- 24:27Speaker 3: guys had gone. They're just kind of they were just
- 24:29Speaker 3: encouraging me to enjoy it. And kind of take it
- 24:31Speaker 3: all in. So it was nice having teammates there to
- 24:34Speaker 3: like help me be able to enjoy the experience and
- 24:37Speaker 3: just kind of like really just embrace it all and
- 24:39Speaker 3: kind of soak it all in because they're like, you
- 24:41Speaker 3: never know you're gonna go back, and you know my case,
- 24:43Speaker 3: I didn't. So it was just I'm glad I took
- 24:46Speaker 3: as many momentos as I did. I'm glad I took
- 24:48Speaker 3: as many pictures as I did, and just kind of
- 24:51Speaker 3: really the memories. I was able to soak them in
- 24:53Speaker 3: while still being ready for the game at the same time.
- 24:55Speaker 3: But it was just it was really cool. My brother
- 24:57Speaker 3: lives out and just outside of San Diego, so he
- 24:59Speaker 3: was there, My parents were there, My brother flew in
- 25:02Speaker 3: from New Jersey, my wife's brothers flew in from all
- 25:05Speaker 3: over her parents, so it was a lot going on.
- 25:08Speaker 3: But I'm just really glad I was able to experience
- 25:10Speaker 3: it with all of them at the same time too, because,
- 25:12Speaker 3: like I said, never got to go back to another one,
- 25:14Speaker 3: So I just really wanted to make sure I enjoyed
- 25:16Speaker 3: it and got to embrace everything there was to enjoy
- 25:19Speaker 3: with it.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Time fly So it was ten years ago, that twenty
- 25:24Speaker 1: sixteen All Star Game, the American League victory, and five
- 25:27Speaker 1: Orioles there, and the Orioles kind of on top of
- 25:30Speaker 1: the baseball world in the American League for a run
- 25:32Speaker 1: of great success there under Buck and Brad and your guys.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Let's talk more about it when we continue here on
- 25:39Speaker 1: Birdland Territory.
- 25:42Speaker 8: Big Bed Morning Show, Finny and Haney, Inside Access Live
- 25:47Speaker 8: on YouTube weekdays six till six. Search Baltimore one O
- 25:51Speaker 8: five seven the fan, subscribe for daily Short's right to
- 25:54Speaker 8: your phone and never missed which you missed one O
- 25:57Speaker 8: five seven the fan.
- 26:01Speaker 1: You know, Brad, there's one Oriole going this year, Adlie Ritchman,
- 26:04Speaker 1: and he's gonna have, I'm pretty sure, a very different
- 26:06Speaker 1: experience than you had. Not that he's not going to
- 26:09Speaker 1: be proud, and there's a lot of family there and
- 26:11Speaker 1: and he's being celebrated for a great year. But there
- 26:14Speaker 1: are no other Orioles there. The Ools are having a
- 26:17Speaker 1: very disappointing season. They're not on the telecast announcers talking
- 26:21Speaker 1: a lot about Baltimore because what a great year Brad
- 26:24Speaker 1: and those four teammates and their teammates are having. So
- 26:28Speaker 1: that's very different experience. I think ten years later for
- 26:32Speaker 1: an Oriole going.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it's gotta be. I mean, when you go solo,
- 26:35Speaker 3: I just can imagine being in that locker room by myself.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Like I said, it's guys you want to go talk to.
- 26:41Speaker 3: But at the same time you're like, I don't. You
- 26:44Speaker 3: just don't. I don't know how to do. But like
- 26:46Speaker 3: I said, having other teammates that were talking to other
- 26:47Speaker 3: guys made it a better experience. And there's also one
- 26:51Speaker 3: little thing I like distinctly remember, and I thought it
- 26:53Speaker 3: was one of the coolest and like, I just thought
- 26:56Speaker 3: it was an awesome We were in the back tunnel
- 26:58Speaker 3: after media and Ian Desmond came up to me and
- 27:00Speaker 3: he didn't have to do this. We're just walking down
- 27:02Speaker 3: the hallway and he's like, hey, I just want to
- 27:04Speaker 3: let you know, like you're nasty the last couple of years.
- 27:06Speaker 3: I thought you had great years. He's like, I think
- 27:07Speaker 3: it's awesome you're getting recognized for this honor, and like
- 27:10Speaker 3: I am forever grateful to him for saying something like that,
- 27:14Speaker 3: because you just don't know if guys recognize you don't know,
- 27:16Speaker 3: they said, I don't know if guys even know who
- 27:17Speaker 3: I was when I was in that locker room. It's
- 27:19Speaker 3: just there's so many big things, there's so many different
- 27:22Speaker 3: agendas going on, there's so many different careers that are
- 27:25Speaker 3: being had that you're not sure if you are being
- 27:27Speaker 3: recognized by everybody else. And I think him going out
- 27:30Speaker 3: of his way and saying those couple of words to
- 27:31Speaker 3: me was amazing. And now you can see what he's
- 27:33Speaker 3: doing with his community in Sarasota, just all the amazing
- 27:37Speaker 3: philanthropy work he's done there. It goes to show what
- 27:41Speaker 3: kind of guy he was. But at the time, I
- 27:43Speaker 3: didn't even know if he knew who I was. But
- 27:44Speaker 3: for him to take the time to do that, I
- 27:46Speaker 3: hope Adley gets stuff like that where he gets to
- 27:48Speaker 3: spend time with other guys on other teams and they
- 27:50Speaker 3: can kind of, you know, just kind of let each
- 27:53Speaker 3: other know. It's a really cool thing. And I think
- 27:56Speaker 3: the one reason I kind of want to talk about
- 27:57Speaker 3: it was because I feel like a lot of the
- 27:59Speaker 3: All Star stories or you hear about the you know,
- 28:01Speaker 3: the crazy stories of guys who like have injuries or
- 28:04Speaker 3: whatever may happen, and a lot of stories that are
- 28:07Speaker 3: being told are from the superstars who go all the
- 28:09Speaker 3: time I'm not saying they don't appreciate it, but I
- 28:11Speaker 3: just felt like it was something that was I mean,
- 28:15Speaker 3: it's something I'll ever forever be recognized as. Now I'm
- 28:17Speaker 3: not saying that as a brag, but now, like to Steve,
- 28:20Speaker 3: when you say it, it still doesn't make sense when you're
- 28:23Speaker 3: like twenty sixteen All Star brad Brock, but it's it's
- 28:25Speaker 3: something that people will recognize forever. And I have guys
- 28:28Speaker 3: that live around here, like Kayleb Joseph. I'll see and
- 28:30Speaker 3: I'll be talking to somebody about my career and they'll
- 28:32Speaker 3: be He'll say he was an All Star. This guy
- 28:34Speaker 3: was an All Star, and it's like, you don't think
- 28:36Speaker 3: of yourself that way, but it's an honor that is,
- 28:39Speaker 3: like I said before, extremely humbling, and I'm just very
- 28:42Speaker 3: proud that I was able to, you know, add that
- 28:44Speaker 3: to the back of my baseball card and we'll be
- 28:45Speaker 3: there forever. And I just hope badly he's able to
- 28:48Speaker 3: kind of enjoy the experience and have other guys come
- 28:50Speaker 3: up and tell him that even though he's gone three
- 28:51Speaker 3: out of four years, it's really cool and he should
- 28:53Speaker 3: try to keep going from from here on out and
- 28:56Speaker 3: get the ten if he can, because it really is
- 28:58Speaker 3: a cool experience, and I'm sure every city does it
- 29:00Speaker 3: completely different. This year in Philadelphia especially, should probably be
- 29:03Speaker 3: awesome with the two hundred and fiftieth anniversary of America
- 29:06Speaker 3: and the Declaration of Independent signing, I'm sure there's gonna
- 29:08Speaker 3: be a lot of cool events there. So I hope
- 29:10Speaker 3: he's able to enjoy it even though he's going by himself,
- 29:12Speaker 3: and hopefully the orials can kind of catapult off of
- 29:15Speaker 3: his success into the second half of the season.
- 29:19Speaker 4: No, Brad, I look, I'm not just saying this because
- 29:22Speaker 4: we're doing the show together, but like, to even play
- 29:25Speaker 4: MLB one game, you know, you're one percent of the
- 29:28Speaker 4: one percent. Then to make an All Star game, you're
- 29:31Speaker 4: the one percent of the one percent of the one percent.
- 29:33Speaker 4: Like that, that's a hell of an accomplishment, it really is.
- 29:36Speaker 4: And especially you know, getting drafted forty second overall, the
- 29:40Speaker 4: odds are that much more thin. And No, I think
- 29:43Speaker 4: it's great. I think it's a really cool behind the
- 29:46Speaker 4: scenes look, and it just sounds like such a whirlwind,
- 29:49Speaker 4: you know, forty eight hours, seventy two hours.
- 29:53Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it was, Like I said, I hope I
- 29:55Speaker 3: was able to articulate it pretty well here. It was
- 29:58Speaker 3: just it's just really, like I said, all the I'm
- 30:00Speaker 3: always always been big on, like I said, the cleats
- 30:02Speaker 3: and the different momentos that you get from these things,
- 30:04Speaker 3: and there's a lot of them there, so I'm glad
- 30:06Speaker 3: I have. It's funny as I go through the bag too,
- 30:08Speaker 3: and then like one other little thing, I want to
- 30:10Speaker 3: give Chris Gootta the shout out here too. Here's our
- 30:12Speaker 3: recruitment manager. He made these cool little bags for us,
- 30:15Speaker 3: the Camos Fort Saint Diego. They wear these on Sundays
- 30:18Speaker 3: and then with the oil symbol on the side. So
- 30:20Speaker 3: this is my little pitching bag. He made a full
- 30:23Speaker 3: equipment bag with it two but this is like where
- 30:26Speaker 3: I kind of have all the all Star stuff in.
- 30:27Speaker 3: So it's it's just cool because I forget what's in
- 30:31Speaker 3: the bags. And as I as I was setting up
- 30:33Speaker 3: for the show, I mean, I'm just kind of pulling
- 30:35Speaker 3: stuff out of this bag and I'm like, I'm just
- 30:37Speaker 3: really glad I kept all of it and it's all
- 30:40Speaker 3: in good condition. Like I said, I can show my
- 30:42Speaker 3: kids one day maybe they'll appreciate it. And my grandkids
- 30:46Speaker 3: and I don't ever get to put this stuff on display.
- 30:49Speaker 3: It's just kind of and at my house, I feel
- 30:52Speaker 3: like it's weird kind of showing this stuff off. I
- 30:54Speaker 3: don't know, it's just like, ah, it's just a weird
- 30:56Speaker 3: thing I have. But it's I'm glad I'm able to
- 30:58Speaker 3: hopefully show some of the OL fans some of the
- 31:00Speaker 3: stuff that's there and just some cool stuff on the game.
- 31:03Speaker 3: And it was it was a once in a lifetime
- 31:04Speaker 3: opportunity for me, and I just am forever grateful to
- 31:08Speaker 3: Ned Jos really for you know, electing me to join
- 31:11Speaker 3: that team and just whoever was in the selection process,
- 31:16Speaker 3: because it really meant the world to me, and it
- 31:18Speaker 3: still means the world to me, and I'm just really
- 31:20Speaker 3: glad to forever be mentioned with that. I mean, the
- 31:23Speaker 3: lineup that you just talked about, the guys that are
- 31:25Speaker 3: in that game, it was I almost feel like that
- 31:27Speaker 3: year was a snapshot of that era of baseball when
- 31:29Speaker 3: I played. I mean, it was every single superstar and
- 31:32Speaker 3: you almost forget who was on the National League because
- 31:34Speaker 3: you don't even get to spend time with those guys.
- 31:35Speaker 3: You don't really even see them. So Steve, as you
- 31:38Speaker 3: read that lineup, I almost forgot who was out there
- 31:41Speaker 3: on the other side, and it's just it's just amazing
- 31:43Speaker 3: that I got the line up on the same line
- 31:45Speaker 3: with those guys, and on top of it, the same
- 31:47Speaker 3: line that I did my first ever opening day with,
- 31:49Speaker 3: you know, at San Diego. It was the cherry on
- 31:52Speaker 3: top of everything, and it was just just an unreal
- 31:55Speaker 3: experience that I still have hard time putting into words.
- 31:57Speaker 3: As I talk about.
- 31:58Speaker 1: It, Man, we can hear the pride in your voice,
- 32:02Speaker 1: and it should be there, because in twenty sixteen you
- 32:05Speaker 1: had the best.
- 32:07Speaker 2: Year of a great career.
- 32:09Speaker 1: It was actually a great career, forty second round draft
- 32:11Speaker 1: pick to have played as long as you did and
- 32:13Speaker 1: did what you did, but never as good as twenty
- 32:16Speaker 1: sixteen individually for you. You just look at the stats.
- 32:19Speaker 1: Those fans go back and look two of five RA
- 32:22Speaker 1: ten wins relief pitcher through seventy nine innings in twenty sixteen.
- 32:27Speaker 1: Brad was doing it all for a great orial team.
- 32:29Speaker 1: And as we watch you or struggle now I'm not
- 32:31Speaker 1: taking a shot these guys, it just makes those fans
- 32:34Speaker 1: appreciate so much more winning times because you realize how
- 32:37Speaker 1: special it is and how fleeting. It can be and
- 32:40Speaker 1: you're not guaranteed to win or be great every year
- 32:43Speaker 1: player or a team. So looking back on that ten
- 32:46Speaker 1: years later, Brad, that was special for me. I bet
- 32:49Speaker 1: for you too, Tim.
- 32:50Speaker 2: Oh, absolutely, that was great, A great stuff Forrad.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Thanks for that, Thanks Tim, And thanks to Dogo for
- 32:57Speaker 1: his cameo. He can come on the SIDEWI we dogs
- 33:02Speaker 1: are too terrible. Dogs are humans too on this show, Tim,
- 33:05Speaker 1: We love them, so they can come around anytime, hang
- 33:08Speaker 1: out with us. But thanks for watching today, ohs fans.
- 33:11Speaker 1: Great trip down memory Lane with Brad from the twenty
- 33:14Speaker 1: sixteen All Star Game, a couple of days ahead of
- 33:17Speaker 1: the latest edition, so that was really fun.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Today. We'll talk to you soon with
- 33:21Speaker 1: Another edition of Birdland Territory
