It's still welcome, everybody. Welcome to this week's edition is a real post
0:20
show Episommer seven or eight or September seven, twenty twenty three. What would
0:26
your given week paid back? In eight of you All Out Weekcap and Review
0:30
edition of ass Are You? I am one? After Show? I am
0:36
Jeff Pack joined every single week by calls one my doctor Trey Franklin, Doctor
0:41
Trey, did you feel friend at work? My friend? Did you just
0:45
legitately ask me that question based on what we talked about off air? I
0:51
tied in some wrestling and I tied it in real life? Yeah, Oh
0:55
my gosh, I love you. By the way. That was. I
1:00
thought you're gonna say, did I get into a fight with big time Benny
1:03
Lopez or uk Stu or Hey, I was waiting for you ask me if
1:07
I got fired with Cause and I was gonna make a Chris Cause joke.
1:10
But no, no, no, Jeff goes to my real life and asked
1:14
me if I felt the Reddoe work. So not anymore because God knows.
1:19
Like I told you all fair, I'm the best damn promo guy in the
1:23
South, and there's nobody that can. I'll talk me when a jar gets
1:26
involved. Hey, for what it's worth, guys, I can can either
1:29
confirm nor deny if Doctor Trey was in the gorilla position, aw all in
1:33
and felt threatened by a now former employee of All Elite Wrestling. More on
1:38
that in a bit. We got a lot of ground to cover up.
1:40
Let's get into w W Payback recap review coming to us live this past Saturday
1:45
from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvanian, also hosted by the one
1:49
and only John Cena. First match, Becky Lynch defeats Tristratus in a steelcage
1:55
match. We both had, Becky Lynch, Doctor Trey. What a great
1:59
match. This few is track don a little too long, but this match
2:01
made up for it. I think this is a top ten match in twenty
2:05
twenty three right now in my opinion. Zoe turning on Trish was a surprise.
2:08
I've been happy for her being in this position since coming from NXT.
2:13
I absolutely love this match, Doctor Treys. Becky Lynch defeats Trish in a
2:15
steel cage. This may outside of edge, This may have been the best
2:23
performance by a w W Hall of Famer in a match in ever like edge
2:30
and Trish just showed like what was like to still be a Hall of Famer,
2:32
is still be able to stay on par with people literally almost half their
2:37
eight Like, this was an amazing match to me. This was top three
2:42
women's match of the year, easy, like maybe top two, maybe not
2:46
number one, but not two and top three. Fantastic match, great storytelling.
2:52
I mean the ass kicking that both ladies took in this match, the
2:57
toll it took on their bodies, that that freaking egg that was growing out
3:01
of Tricia's head as the match went on, Evan's still taking Zoe's finisher after
3:07
the match, Like, what a tremendous performance by everybody involved, Like this,
3:13
I didn't know if anything was going to top this match. I thought
3:15
I thought the show is over at this point because I'm like, I don't
3:17
know if anyby can top this match, isn't It was just that good?
3:20
It was amazing, really really good matches. Becky Lynch defeats Tris Stratus.
3:23
Next match, here is Lni defeating the miss. We'd both at l Anike
3:27
and the victory and the special guest referee This one was John Cena. Fine
3:31
match and a tough act to follow after that great cage match seem to be
3:35
involved as a special guest referee was a great move to help continue elevate l
3:38
A Night scene a giving night. The endorsement was a nice moment, and
3:42
there's also been reports today that La Night has reportedly resigned with w W for
3:47
a five year extension that will helped make him one of the biggest baby faces
3:52
in the company going forward. Lani defeats the Miss Doctor Trey. This match
3:58
showed me how good the Miss isn't the ring and that La Knights still kind
4:02
of maybe isn't as good of a worker as we hoped. He was like,
4:05
he's good, but I don't know. I watched a match. I'm
4:10
like, missus carrying this match, and he's kind of carried this rivalry,
4:15
so I thought it was an e match. I did not like it for
4:19
the l and I character because it took John Cena getting into verbal diet tribes
4:25
with the Miss to help La Night get the win. I just didn't think
4:29
it was a good evening for La Night with the in ring performance and how
4:34
they had the match going on. The highlight for him was literally post match
4:40
at the end or at the on the ramp where Scena goes it's your moment
4:45
and walked off and l A n I got a whole forty five seconds by
4:46
himself before he walked back to the back. Yeah, it was. It
4:49
was. People are comparing it to Hogan raising the rocks hand Rock raising Seea
4:56
his hand and then Sena has raised hand of both Cody and Laight. I
4:59
saw that photo over the weekend. I don't know if it's at that level
5:02
yet, but it's a very big deal when John Cena is raising your hand
5:06
because it's somewhat of a torch passing or at least some sort of endorsement pat
5:11
on the back. It's like, hey, now they'll get your stuff and
5:15
do your thing in this position. Next match, here is ray Masterio defeating
5:18
an Austin Theory to retain the w United States Championship. We both at ray
5:21
Masterio getting victory. Solid an enjoyable match. I liked how they executed the
5:26
finish. This one good stuff by Rain Theory. Your thought, Yeah,
5:30
I really yeah, I really liked this match as well. I thought it
5:31
was really well done. I feel bad for Theory because everything's WrestleMania is.
5:36
It feels like he's kind of dipped back down a little b again. But
5:41
explain to me real quick. Jeff, as a longtime wrestling fan. Theory
5:45
beats John Cena at WrestleMania, and John Cena picks of all the matches to
5:49
be the special guest referee and not Austin Theories match, and it's the match
5:57
right after the one he was in. So I thought that was a little
5:59
bit like maybe Seena should have said something or done something to kind of get
6:03
back a little bit from the WrestleMania stuff, because fans don't forget that stuff.
6:09
So I just I didn't like the placement. I guess maybe that match
6:12
was seen a being on screen right before that match given the history of WrestleMania.
6:15
The match and stuff, like I said, was fine. I'm glad
6:17
Ray got the win. I also liked the jack of Dominic's face crossed out
6:21
on it. I thought that was pretty great. And then, now,
6:25
what do you do with Thouston theories? Is it? Because usually when the
6:29
young up and comer loses his rematch for the mid card title, he just
6:32
puts the main events seat. So maybe this is where the theory gets that
6:35
next step up. I understand your theory on this entire thing about why I
6:41
didn't see it a special guest or free That does make sense. However,
6:44
I guess you could make a case right Devil's Advocate Scena and Miss did headline
6:48
and WrestleMania, and the Rock was also involved. The back and forth in
6:51
the microphone between Miss and Seen. It was really nice and refreshing and very
6:56
well done by two veterans of the game. But yeah, I mean,
6:59
I totally get what you're saying, but I think it was probably more important
7:02
we to get the rub for l a night than it was to play on
7:06
a storyline that probably leads to nowhere. If Theory and Seeing interact again.
7:13
Yeah, So I just like if you if you put that match two matches
7:17
later, I don't even think about it. It's just the fact that it
7:20
was literally right at Yeah, And I mean I don't think you just like
7:27
Seeing loses the Theory and it goes. We never saw him say anything do
7:31
anything afterwards, and Theory did win clean cheated to win. So no,
7:38
I know, I know. But but then again too, I don't think
7:41
we knew that we're going to have John c And available right now. Yeah.
7:44
So, I mean some strikes and yeah, maybe maybe bump a match
7:47
back or move a couple of things around, and just because the fans over
7:50
get because it wasn't that long ago yet. I hear what you're saying from
7:54
this storyline perspective, but when you actually look through the grand scheme of the
7:57
entire pay per view, which will look at here momentarily, I actually thought
8:01
the match placement was really good with Becky Lynch and Tris starting it off,
8:03
and then some like La Night and the Miss was like a slow build up,
8:07
and then Raymon Stereo and Ausit Terry was the next step up and that
8:13
was a pretty good match. But then middle way here Finn Baler and Damian
8:16
Priest defeating Kevin Owens and Sammy Zane and a Steel City street fight to win
8:18
the nisputed WW Tag Team Championship, which we both corrected predictively correctly predicted,
8:26
is like the next level of the show. Like, I love this match.
8:31
This match literally had everything in it, violence, tributes, hometown pops,
8:35
blood chair spots, table spots, garbage can spots, swantom bomb through
8:39
a table, spear through the barricade, interference, and great in ring work.
8:43
This was a phenomenal match. The juner Day continue to run w as
8:46
they add the endospeed to tag team titles to their stable at Payback. I
8:50
think this is one of those you go through this match and it kind of
8:52
makes sense as to you know, some of the match layout for this show.
8:58
Yeah, no, this is if this is the middle of your show,
9:01
you want your middle should be really hot. So yeah, like,
9:03
if I'm structuring a show, so far, the structure like how I would
9:07
do it is correct. The storyline tie ins are a little bit where I
9:09
got a little bit befuddled there. But dear god, this match was so
9:13
much fun. Like these, you know, street fights and tag team matches
9:18
typically don't go great because camera wise, production wise, it's kind of hard
9:24
to keep everything going. They did a fantastic job of the shots, the
9:30
angles, like Dominic's last second, you know, throwing a briefcase to break
9:35
up a pinfall, like all this stuff was so much fun. JD McDonough
9:41
getting involved to help them win, but then not being allowed to celebrate on
9:43
stage, Like all this stuff was such. It was good storytelling, good
9:46
creative, good in ring work, the hockey fight, throwing the gloves down
9:50
like little stuff like that. I'm just like, this is fantastic. This
9:54
was arguably like the most fun tag match I've seen since you know, Kevin
10:00
Samy and the USOS. So it's It's been one of the better tag matches
10:03
I've seen in the last six months. Next match is Ria Ripley defeating Raquel
10:07
Rodriguez to retaining w W Women's World Championship. We both had reget in the
10:09
victory. Match dragged down a little bit and similar to the La Night mismatch,
10:13
had a very tough act to follow and the highly entertaining tag team match
10:18
that happened before it, even with the Grayson Waller affect Cody Roads Juso segment
10:22
giving it some buffer. Nonetheless, it was nice to see the women get
10:24
a good amount of time on the show to do their thing. Ria retains
10:28
ut Trey. Yeah. I think this is one of those one of those
10:31
matches when you have two women who typically are able to like severely overpower their
10:37
opponents like they're in ringwork, style has to completely adjust. When it's it's
10:43
hard for Riad to rip or Ria to lift Raquel, it's hard for Raquel
10:48
to lift Ria. It's hard to get those same big ooze and os and
10:52
bumps for the match when typically when they do it to like a Sealina Vega
10:56
or a Chelsea Green, you're like, oh my god, that looks like
10:58
a kill. So I think that may have led to a bit the awkwardness
11:03
and making it feel like it went a little long. It's kind of like
11:05
we have those hoss fights for the met This is a hoss fight for women,
11:09
and sometimes those feel like they drag a little bit so, but overall
11:13
a good performance from mckel. This shows that she's on the way to Riya's
11:18
level, but still has a bit to go. And then finally the main
11:24
event here Seth Freaking Rollins defeat Schinsky and knocking More to retain the worldly Bitwaite
11:28
Champion to Peo. Both had Seth Freaking Rollins getting the victory. This was
11:31
a slow, methodical match that felt like it was a table setter for a
11:33
rematch as Rons squeaked by knocking More in round one. Really nice and original
11:39
counter into the stomp finish should to close out the match. Solid stuff.
11:41
I know this match was you either liked it or you did it on social
11:46
media. I'm in the group that did like it, Doctor Trey, because
11:50
I do feel like this is table setter and more will be coming out of
11:52
this Roins knocking more a feud, which appears to be the case moving forward
11:56
coming out of Raw Following Payback, your thoughts on the main event, Seth
12:00
freaking rons pertained. I thought this was Shinsk's best performance since he wrestled aj
12:05
Styles at WrestleMania, Like this was the most fluid we saw, Like everything
12:11
in Shinsk's arsenal we haven't got to see that long time. Shinsk as a
12:15
heel is so good and creepy at times, like it's just awkward, weird,
12:22
just like unnerving. I honestly like, I think the only reason people
12:26
dislike it is either you're you've disliked how Shinsk has been booked for the last
12:31
four years, or you disliked Seth be in the champ Like outside that,
12:33
I thought it was a good performance. It told the story, It checked
12:37
all the boxes for what a good professional wrestling matches would be. And like
12:41
I said, Shinsk looked strong in this match and looked like on several occasions
12:46
he could have beat Seth. So I thought it was great for Shinsk's career
12:50
as well. Pitvview predictions from Payback we both went six and oh, which
12:56
then puts US at eighty three and twenty nine for myself, Doctor Tray seventy
13:01
seven and thirty five Match of the Night and event rating. I gave my
13:05
Match to the Night to Becky Lynch and Tris Stratus, and I gave WWE
13:09
Payback eight three point eight. I thought it was a very solid show,
13:11
Doctor try what say you? Yeah? I gave my Batchel to Night to
13:16
Becky and Trish as well. I actually gave it a four because outside of
13:20
the La Night mismatch, I really liked everything else pretty much on the show,
13:26
So I just had the one massic hide right that that kind of drugged
13:28
down with it. So I gave it a four point er for me.
13:31
All right, then let's get into the next night. Here aw all out
13:35
recap review from this past Sunday from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.
13:39
We had Hangman Adam Page winning the over budget charity Battle Royal on zero hour.
13:45
I thought it was a fun Battle Royal and a good way to kick
13:46
off the show. That was really my only notes from this. I was
13:50
just glad I remember who Hangman Adam Page was. That was my note from
13:52
this Hey, great back and forth between he and sort of Strickland this past
13:56
Wednesday and Time of Mine, her Carroshda, Willow Nightingale and Sky Blue defeating
14:01
Mercedes Martinez, Diamante and Athena and a women's trios match. We did not
14:05
predict this match. I thought it was a fine women's trios match and it
14:07
just felt like time Feller. Yeah, I thought it was. It was
14:11
a solid women's six mans tag. I just didn't like to finish because between
14:15
Athena looking you know, has been looked really strong as Ring of Honor champion,
14:18
I thought i'd be a good way to remind the you know, the
14:22
AW fans how badass Athena is. And we see Willow Sky in What's Your
14:30
Faith all the time anyway, So I thought it'd been good to get Athena
14:33
of the win in this setting. But you know, it is what it
14:35
is, solid tag match. Next match, here's the acclaimed to Billy Gunn
14:39
defeating Jeff Jarrett, j Leatham, Satam Singh to retain the AW World Trio's
14:43
Championship. We also did not predict this one. To me, this was
14:46
just a Sports Center moment match with Dennis Roman using the guitar, and it's
14:48
ONEIM saying. If someone told me in nineteen ninety four when I was watching
14:52
WWE that Jeff Jarrett and Billy Gunn of the Smoking Guns will be resting on
14:54
a pay for you nearly thirty years later, I wanted to believe them.
14:58
Great performance by those guys. I thought it was a fine match and it
15:01
was just the sports at a moment that they were looking for mine notes on
15:07
this one where Dens Robin doesn't look like he ages much, I still thought
15:09
he looked pretty good. Which thing goes right along with Billy Gunn and Jeff
15:13
Jared, So I think they all drink from the same well water. And
15:18
like I said, if you like what you mentioned about Billy Gunn and Jeff
15:20
Jared, if you'd thrown the fact that, hey, by the way,
15:22
Dennis Rodman will be involved in wrestling in twenty twenty three, I would have
15:26
been like, did you steal from his stash? And what are you smoking
15:30
outside of that? Just good filler. Jane Lethal's a workhorse. I mean,
15:33
Jane Lethal carries a lot of these matches for Jared and Sottenham Sing.
15:37
Because Tottenham Sing to me is one step above giant Gonzalez. Uh yeah,
15:43
yeah, it's it's in that same vein, right, Yeah, great colleague.
15:48
At least colleague was athletic when he was younger, like Sottenham, just
15:50
seems kind of his footwork is really atrocious and awkward and I and I get
15:56
it, he's a big, giant, gangly man, but you're still putting
16:00
them on pay per views, like you know, there's a way you do
16:04
this and not make him actually get in the ring. So yeah, sometimes
16:08
the big men get it, sometimes they don't. And then you also see
16:11
people like improved like I think Omas when he's been off television for a little
16:15
bit, he was very Soltam saying John Gonzalez esque, looking a little clumsy
16:21
of the ring. Then he got better as time went on, so maybe
16:22
they're still hope there. And then finally to the main show, MJF and
16:27
Adam Cole defeat Alex Reynolds and John Sell where the Dark order to retain the
16:30
ROH Tag Team Championship. We both at MJF and Adam Cole get the victory
16:34
solid tag match. The story and this one was MJF working is alien neck
16:37
injury, having to be taking the back and getting a big baby face pop
16:41
when he came back out to help get the win. The MJF baby face
16:44
turn has been a really interesting storyline. Smojoe giving MJF an NXT like push
16:48
that led to them brawling before the next match was really nice transition, and
16:52
to do what I would presumed to be the next feud and match for MJF.
16:56
My only thing is why didn't Adam Cole immediately going gonna make the save?
17:00
Was that a storyline tidbit or just bad timing from the security team to
17:03
break up the pre match fight between samo Joe and MJFF. Nonetheless, MJFF
17:08
and Adam Cole retain BABA. Yeah, it was a fine tag match.
17:12
My big thing when I'm watching this is like, oh God, I forgot
17:15
how much like a Dark Order? Because John Silver should beginning of a much
17:18
bigger pushing agains because that guy always gets a reaction. And then I thought,
17:22
why haven't they just reek, Like, why have they just combined the
17:25
Righteous with the Dark Order? Like that would make a ton of thing.
17:29
I mean, dude, Grayson's in the Righteous, it makes it would make
17:32
sense to do it. The post match stuff I thought, like when Samoe
17:37
Joe attacked m JFF. Adam Cole was right there. I thought AdVac was
17:40
like, oh shit, if I run down here, will Keith Lee knock
17:41
me into the crowd? Like it just felt like a very like NX team
17:45
moment. But it's I don't know how to feel about the baby faced her
17:51
because I love MJF so much as a heel, Like, I'm still I'm
17:55
waiting for the other shoot to drop, and I'm like, if this is
17:57
like one of those long her slow burns to get to the payoff, They're
18:03
doing a really really good job of making me wait now. So I'm on
18:07
board with it if it does lead to one of these two guys turning and
18:11
being the hell of the other one. Yeah, I mean they have done
18:14
this multiple times where you're thinking on the verge of an MJF baby face turn,
18:17
and then he turned heel, So I think that's part of the reason,
18:21
and I don't think it's a thing that is good necessary for the storyline.
18:26
I think that they've turned him completely baby face, and I think this
18:27
is the direction. I think there will be obviously a payoff here at some
18:32
point that leads to the next layer of this, But I think aw kind
18:36
of screwed around a little bit too much, and that's why people like you
18:38
and I may not be fully able to sink our teeth into the baby face
18:42
turn and believe it to be true because they did it at least twice already
18:47
in Awware, they teased it and then did not execute it. Next match
18:52
her samo Joe defeeding Shane Taylor to retain the ROH World type Television Championship.
18:56
We did not predict this one. I like the amount of offense Shane Taylor
19:00
on in on this one. Samojoe was still protected when he quickly snapped on
19:03
the cocaine and clutch to make Taylor tap out for the win. Shane Taylor
19:06
has interacted with us on Twitter in the past, so very happy to see
19:08
him get this opportunity of samoja retains. Yeah, I like Shane Taylor.
19:12
Shane Tylor was good at one of my friends Oshe Edwards, who's downe in
19:15
MLW, but o Sha was part of Shane taylor enterprises at the close of
19:19
Ring of Honor and Shane's with good people like you. I was happy to
19:23
see a lot of the offense get in there. I was also happy to
19:26
see Joe get the wind coming on the heels of all in to see Joe
19:30
get back on the winning track. It also really solid athletic big man match
19:34
and like we were talking about, like me with the Rhea and Raquel,
19:40
this match didn't have those awkward slow parts. These guys know how to work
19:44
together. It was a really well done match. And uh, like I
19:47
said, like, I was just happy for both guys. I thought both
19:48
guys come out of that match looking strong, which is what you actually really
19:52
want in these situations. Lucas Source defeats Darby Allen to retain the AWT and
19:56
T Championship. I had Darby Allen doct trade Lucasaurus. I like to finish
20:02
where Christian distracted Darby Allen from doing the Coffin drop. I threatened to hit
20:04
Nick Wayne with the concerto. They've been hyping up how banged up Darby Allen
20:08
has been lately. So I wonder if at some point we see him get
20:12
written off and give him a little bit of a break. But he's currently
20:15
in the tournament to take on mjaff at Dona Mike rand Slam. Also,
20:19
Darby had a three count on Lucasaurus, and I wonder if the big Man
20:22
was actually out from the Code Red top rope spot because that was a hard
20:26
fall and everybody knew it was a three count, Like it looked like Lucasource
20:30
might have gone out there legitimately, reason why he kicked out late. Lucasource
20:36
retains that Doctor Trey. Yeah. I enjoyed the Christian Cage Lucasaurus angle with
20:41
Christian being the champion, even though Lucia does all the wrestling. I like
20:45
that stuff, and I thought it was the right call, Like you got
20:48
to re establish this title being credible because it's been hot potted around for a
20:52
while. I mean, this would have been Darby's third or fourth reign with
20:55
it if he had won. My only knock on this match is because of
20:59
what happened on Dynamite, because he saved Wayne from getting the Concerto at all
21:06
out, but then stomps his freaking head in on Dynamite. So I'm like,
21:11
okay, it's okay if I stomp your head in, but God forbid,
21:14
Christian like knock you out of the chair. So that was my knock.
21:17
It was basically like four days or three days later, maybe dislike the
21:21
finish interesting point, and I feel like they're kind of teasing. Maybe Christian
21:25
is trying to influence Nick Wayne a little bit and to join up there.
21:30
So yeah, it's interesting stuff. Yeah, he needs a new Jack Perry.
21:33
He does, he does because Jack Perry is unavailable right now. Miro
21:37
defeats Powerhouse Hobbs. We both had Miro getting the victory. Fun match with
21:41
great crowd interaction. The only drawback in this match was Powerhouse Hobbs was falling
21:45
out of the game over over finisher and Miro was resetting him when he tapped
21:51
out, so it didn't look great visually, like he was readjusting the game
21:55
over. And then you've got Powerhouse Hobbs tapping out to the game over Kiml
21:59
clutch finisher or Accolade, however you want to call it. C J.
22:03
Perry Slash Alana making the save was a nice surprise, but Miro not knowing
22:06
if his real life wife would be a peer Slash saying she's not real was
22:11
very confusing to me, very confusing. Doctor tre Miro wins this one.
22:18
Yeah, I like this match because from we really haven't seen a lot of
22:21
Miro in a while. And I've always loved him. Once again, a
22:26
really good athletic big man match, and these are the kuype I like to
22:30
zee. I blame the ref on the finish, because that's something if you
22:33
know, look, the ref's gonna know what the finish is heading into a
22:37
match, and if you see a guy having to reset the whole, even
22:41
if the guy's tapping, you can play it off like he was trying to
22:45
get his hand under the calf or on the calf to push out and then
22:48
make him tap again to make it look cleaner. So that's on the ref
22:52
more than anything else. C J. Perry is so damn beautiful, Jeff,
22:56
oh my god, you know. And then the stuff of the mirror,
23:00
the stuff of the mirror and her is all like they've never really had.
23:03
Outside of their initial debut. Everything they've done from like russef Day Odd
23:11
has been awkward and weird in the most non traditional love story and maybe professional
23:15
wrestling history. Yeah, it was strange. It was very very strange.
23:19
And then they go on Instagram and they're like doing TikTok's with one another or
23:25
whatever, like reels. So I was like, this is just bizarre.
23:29
But maybe that was the point of it, I don't know. Chris stat
23:33
Lanard feeds Ruby Soo to retain the AWTBS Championship. We both had stat Lander
23:37
getting victory. Solid match. Tony Storms involvement in the match didn't come off
23:41
well as it looked like Ruby Soho out of stall a little bit, so
23:45
the interference could be executed with that set, I have enjoined Tony Swordon's slow
23:49
turn into a character who has lost her mind since dropping the women's championship.
23:55
Again, great match. Doctor Trey stat Lander and Ruby so put on a
23:57
good show for the women. So we had a woman who regained her mind
24:03
and is no longer an alien, I guess one like against a woman who's
24:10
an outcast and a runaway who gets screwed over by her friend who's lost her
24:15
mind. So I just once again love the backstories on Some of the stuff
24:19
is just so it's so wrestling, you know. And Merril has no idea
24:22
his wife's going to be there, so yeah, because he talks to God,
24:26
that's why he's he's a redeemer, so you know, maybe he thinks
24:30
TJ's the Virgin Mary. I don't know, but like this matches was fun.
24:36
I love watching Ruby stef Like Ruby doesn't have bad matches. Chris Statler
24:40
has come a long way in her wrestling ability, the toughest the stuff a
24:42
Tony Storm is so weird and fun, and we have not seen a anybody
24:48
do an old school Hollywood starlet character that I can remember, so it's also
24:55
fresh and different. So it's just really fun and entertaining and I applaud for
25:00
this whole segment. Here. Next match, here is Brian Danielson defeating Ricky
25:03
Starks in a strap match. We did not predict this one great match,
25:08
especially on short notice. His Starks was reportedly said to face punk it all
25:11
out before something that happened to him. Amazing how quickly Danielson return from injury
25:17
to take this match. Super happy that Ricky Starks got this spot and opportunity,
25:19
as it shows he's a big time player for a w And this is
25:22
a case, especially with the way the match ended, that sometimes people look
25:26
a lot stronger in a loss, and that was the case with Ricky Starks.
25:30
He did not tap out, he passed out. Danielson defeats Ricky and
25:34
once again this is where I'm confused, and it's like, Okay, so
25:38
match yourself really fun, really well done on short notice? Is Brian Danielson
25:44
a heel because he's in the BCC. I don't know. He came out
25:48
on the baby face side. I totally get what you're saying. I'm with
25:52
you on so like in my head, I'm like, well, I mean,
25:55
but he still had he still was repid the BCC, he's so,
25:57
but they're heel stable. He's on the baby face side. Ricky Starks,
26:00
who up until facing CM Punk was a baby face but then he turned heels
26:06
and two heels or his strap match unannounced on a pay per view like that.
26:11
The knee jerk weird stuff is where I get frustrate. Aw the and
26:15
ring stuff ninety five percent type it's fantastic and you're like, damn, that
26:19
was really good. It's just the frosting, the flavor, the icing on
26:23
the cake, whatever you want to call it. That is professional wrestling gets
26:26
missed and people like me go, just if the flavors had lined up correctly.
26:33
I don't know, have you did you ever watch Friends? Jeff?
26:34
No? But I'm getting hungry. Okay, So there's an episode where somebody
26:40
goes to make Shepherd's Pie and they mess it up and they actually do,
26:42
like they actually put it like jellies and jams into the shepherd's pie. And
26:48
they asked Joey, like you ate that. He's like, yeah, meat
26:49
good, jelly good, like these are all good things. And that's kind
26:52
of how I feel about aw S And I's like, well, yeah,
26:55
like Ricky Starks is really good, Brian Daniels is really good. The rap
27:00
match was really good. But to get the flavors to line up, you
27:04
kind of need everything to be there for to be a real solid course of
27:08
a meal. And yeah, you're right now, I'm freaking hundred food.
27:12
Next match, Claudio Castan Onlian Wheeler, you defeat Eddie Kingston and Katsi or
27:17
Shibata in a tag team match. We did not predict this one solid match
27:21
finish of Eddie taking a European upper cut for the pin was was surprising.
27:23
I got. I meant, yeah, I honestly did not think I would
27:27
see any Kingston go under clean to a European upper cut from Claudio because I
27:32
know their history. But yeah, fun match. BCC gets a little bit
27:36
of revenge based on what happened at all in because on paper the best Friends
27:41
should have not beat the BCC, but you know, it is what it
27:42
is, but a little bit of payback. The Rig of Water champion gets
27:45
a win over the new Japan Openweight Champion, so that's kind of a cool
27:49
tie in as well. But you know, pretty solid tag match, and
27:52
I mean Shabbata and Eddie Cason. I don't think I've ever tagged up before
27:57
this match, and they had a really solid performance as a team, So
28:02
there you go. I thought it was really well done. Kenoska Takeshka defeats
28:06
Kenny Omega. I had know megadoct tray Tekeshka. Huge victory for Tekeshka,
28:11
Penny Omega cleaning and one on one match a week after pinning Omega and a
28:15
trios match. The build for Kenoska lately has been great to watch, and
28:18
I like seeing the layer of Omega not being able to win without don Callis
28:22
Callus in his corner. It's a subtle layer, but a powerful one in
28:26
this story that's starting to gain some momentum. Kenoska Takeshka defeats Kenny Omegadoctor try.
28:32
Even though I picked to Keshka, I didn't think he was actually going
28:34
to win. I'm just like, on paper, I would have had him
28:40
win, but I'm like, I don't think they haven't do it. But
28:41
I'm like, watch the mention, like, man, they are really making
28:45
him look like a start like somebody it might be Kenny. Somebody really loves
28:49
Tekeshka because typically, like like I thought earlier, like when was the last
28:56
time we saw Aussie opened win a match, Like even Okada doesn't win all
29:00
the time in aw But Tekeshka looks like a freaking world beater. So they
29:06
are building into the mood. I applaud them forks we love new Stars,
29:08
really really solid match and just you know into for me, Like I know
29:14
they kind of hinted the rivalry maybe over, but I think it needs to
29:15
go longer because you can't let Kenny not ever beat t Keshka. So that's
29:21
it's got to get settled at some point. We'll find out what the next
29:23
target is for Takeshka on Wednesday's Dynamite as they revealed the next masterpiece. Next
29:30
match here is Bullet Club Gold defeating FTR and the Young Bucks in an eight
29:33
man tag team match. I had FTR on the Bucks, Doctor Trade Bullet
29:36
Club Clold Fun match, the fourth corner spot where they were there was a
29:40
good teamwork between FTR and the Bucks been way through the match was awesome.
29:44
Bullet Club Gold has been on fire Lane. I think Aw's gonna have a
29:47
tough time not making them tweeter baby faces in the future. I said recently
29:51
on this podcast that I felt like they were Degeneration X, like they've been
29:57
fantastic, very entertaining and enjoy Bullet Club Gold gets the victory, Doctor Trey,
30:02
Yeah, this was the right call. Like I mean, you don't
30:04
need FDR and the Bucks to get a win here. You need Bullet Club
30:08
Gold because the crowd is really getting into them. And you know, like
30:12
I said last week, you see why the Guns are going to be huge
30:15
stars down the road. They're just so fun to watch and so charismatic.
30:21
J White, I'm glad they're finally giving him some attention because that's your boy,
30:25
that's the guy that you thought should be a main eventor in either company.
30:29
It feels like they're giving it. And damn, I love Juce Robinson,
30:33
like he's just a fun dude to watch and I and I literally I
30:36
don't know about you. I actually went back and start watching old nx T
30:37
stuff and Honor Bray Wyatt's and seeing young C. J. Parker on there,
30:41
I was like, God, he's just always been fun, even going
30:45
back to those NXT days. So I'm on board Bullet Club Gold right now.
30:49
I love those guys. Yeah, what was Juce Robinson was the seed?
30:55
Yeah? Yeah? And he was like a hippie. Yeah, who
30:56
broke Kevin Owens's nose? Kevin Owens ext Yes, he was a great character
31:02
in those early WW network days of Next Day. And then finally the main
31:07
event here is John Moxley defeats Orange Cassidy to win the aw International Championship.
31:11
Doctor Trey and I both had Moxley good match and great storytelling. I've enjoyed
31:15
watching Moxley get this new layer out of Orange Cassidy's character, and I hope
31:19
this storyline continues, as it would make sense based on the way things have
31:22
gone for Cassidy the last several weeks. It was sad to see one of
31:26
the best title rains in all of wrestling end, but it comes at the
31:29
expense of the Orange Cassidy character continue to grow that I am here for it.
31:33
I think there's something to do. Orange Cassidy opening Dynamite this past Wednesday
31:37
and getting that crowd reaction, getting the thank yous and cutting the promo and
31:41
you know, coming up the rampus Moxley came out. It was sad to
31:45
see the rain end because it was one of my favorite It's right up there
31:48
with Gunther and the Icy title. But it was time. It was time
31:52
to happen, and Moxley was the right guy as he is your new international
31:56
champion. Doctor Trey. Yeah, I once to get really enjoyed this match.
32:00
Really well done Moxley. Adding the Moxley angliness adds an edge to Orange
32:07
Cassidy that we didn't know if he could pull out. Great job there.
32:12
It gives this title another layer of credibility on name value for having John Moxley
32:17
being the champ. And like I was talking about Austin theory, sometimes when
32:22
you your young up and comer loses a mid card title is because they're about
32:27
to push him to the next level up. Unfortunately for me in aw sometimes
32:31
I don't know what the next level up is past you know the nineteen titles
32:35
they have in the mid card division. But by the way, the only
32:39
knock I have on Cassie. Remember that chromo that Roman cut where he walked
32:44
out to the ring. The crowd kept booing him he would win to talk,
32:47
they cut him off again. If Orange had just come out like he
32:52
was going to talk, the crowd kept cheering him, and then he just
32:54
smiled and gave the thumbs up and walked out of the ring. I thought
32:58
it would have been just as good. But I love the layers they've added
33:01
to both Orange and John Moxley with this. So just a great job with
33:06
the storytelling and the and you know, the layers added to these characters for
33:09
this match and coming out of it. I would agree with you. I
33:13
actually, and I hate to say this, but I thought that crowd was
33:15
not great on Wednesday side of mine, like he deserved a bigger elevation in
33:19
my opinion, Yeah, I agree, But where were they at Wednesday nights?
33:23
I forgot they were in Indiana. No offense to the Indiana folks.
33:28
Listen to the pod. I mean that's why de Wide doesn't do big time
33:31
events in Indianapolis. Well, they're doing fast Lane in October. Big events.
33:37
I mean, like we don't see we don't see SummerSlam, we don't
33:39
see we don't see the We don't see any of the tops, Like I
33:43
don't think they do money in the bank. Wait a minute, breaking Restamney
33:45
forty one will be at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. Yeah, yeah,
33:53
if by the way up in the day, because I'm pretty sure it's going
33:57
to go to go to Nashville. Just the building a new stadium right yard
34:01
on the street, because there's only couple hours away from me. So I
34:05
got some stay tuned pivoty prediction record from all out Dot Trey went to seven
34:09
and out. We went undefeated the entire week in grats, Doctor Trey,
34:13
I went four and three. I'm eighty seven to thirty two. Doctor Trey
34:16
is now eighty four and thirty five. Do you need to take a victory
34:19
lap before we get to Match of the Night and event rating? I just
34:21
had to. I just had to. I had to have one weekend in
34:23
the three four years we've now been doing predictions and keeping score or I actually
34:29
look like I know what the hell I'm talking about. It undefeated across the
34:32
whole weekend. Yeah, has anybody else gone undefeated? We've had double pay
34:37
per views. Oh man, now you're acting me look back at the history
34:43
here, just do research. At some points, I see some undefeated this
34:49
year. I don't know about a weekend. We'll have to take a look.
34:51
For argument sake, we'll say no, no, never has happened,
34:53
breaking breaking news. All right, an event rating and match the night.
34:58
I gave all out of three point nine. My match of the night was
35:00
Brian Danielson and Ricky Starks, Doctor tur what's at you? So shockingly enough,
35:05
I'm gonna give all out of four point one. I thought it was
35:07
a little bit like just like you. I thought it was a little bit
35:09
better than WWE. Most of the show coherence, made sense, continued or
35:17
ended storylines properly, really really well done overall. And then I had Moxley
35:22
Kassi. I just the layers in that match were just really well done.
35:24
As my match of the night. Yeah, so there you go. So
35:27
there's our event rating. There's our match of the night for all out this
35:31
past Sunday in the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. So there's some big
35:39
news that has happened over the weekend. Speaking of Chicago. Speaking of Chicago.
35:45
Two years ago, we celebrated the first match back for SAMPUNK a year
35:52
ago we spent posts all out talking about brawl Out, and then basically the
35:59
next year after that and days later recently we are now discussing Sampunk no longer
36:08
being employed by All Elite Wrestling. Shocking news still, nonetheless, especially when
36:16
you think back of the last two years with Sampunk and where this was.
36:21
When it started with rampage at the first dance and it just felt like,
36:23
wow, this is really cool. One of the best reactions I've ever seen
36:27
in professional wrestling. People were rejoiced as Sampunk made you know, is returned
36:32
to wrestling for the first time in over seven years. The drama and the
36:37
stories and the stuff that has happened afterwards has been frustrating, especially in the
36:43
last year. Despite all that still involved with some really good matches, some
36:47
storylines have enjoyed the in ring work and the stuff that we see on television
36:51
regards to see him Punk, Nonetheless, Sampunk is once again a free agent.
36:57
He is no longer employed with All Elite Wrestling. There's gonna be a
37:00
lot of layers that we're going to peel away from this one. Doctor Trey
37:02
here to close out the show. But your thoughts on the initial news as
37:07
c him. Punk is now a former employee of a W. Based on
37:12
the initial reports I got on the initial story that came out, I was
37:16
kind of surprised, like, like I think we talked about last week week
37:20
before, like you know, at CM Punk Russell's last matchin AW. I
37:22
was like seventy five percent. No, Like you literally gave him his own
37:25
show. He's your top draw, he's your top money maker. Like usually
37:32
talent Trump's all, like sales Trump's all, but however you want to phrase
37:37
it like that, that's usually end all, be all. Now, when
37:40
you started hearing some other stories about like him threatening Tony Kahan and things like
37:44
that, it made sense like if that's the way it went, okay,
37:50
uh, it just at that. If that's the level you go to,
37:52
then why did you bring him back? Like he was arguing with you about
37:58
like you guys are battling over him even coming back. You guys battle over
38:02
even being at the premier for you know, collision, Like once again,
38:09
to me, it just looks like poor leadership at the top. And since
38:15
when did they get a disciplinary committee Jeff, Like when did this happen?
38:21
Because they've had issues the entire run of this company, so I'm like,
38:25
like, you know, we talked to this one ago, like who who
38:28
is this person? Is Christopher Dandels on it because you know see him Punk
38:31
just kicked him off his show a week two weeks ago. Like it's a
38:36
little confusing. It does look like still backstage. It does kind of give
38:43
me end up wc W vibes with chaos and just there's a lack of accountability
38:50
at times. I don't have an issue with him firing him because he's been
38:54
a huge pain in the ass this company for the last year. It's just
38:59
that way you put up the stories to why and the reasoning and the rational
39:01
It's like you've had other guys do you like andrawd A literally was begging them
39:07
to fire him and they're like no, you know, it's like Alica Black
39:12
did a bow. I mean, he was on his way out. It
39:15
appeared I'm going back to It's like guys have wanted to leave for it.
39:19
And then like, you know, a performer like Sonny Kiss, who's a
39:22
solid worker to have on your show. You don't even offer Sonny a contract
39:24
to come back. You know, it's like never caused a problem, but
39:29
God forbid, we give her the bare we gives any the bare minimum.
39:32
You know, it's like but like it's just there's no cohesion. It doesn't
39:38
feel like their structure homage to us, Jeff, there's no pecking order.
39:44
True. True, it just feels like it feels like there's they're supposed to
39:49
be ahead of the table, but there's not. It feels like Dad's not
39:52
there. It's like when dad and mom leave and they put the twelve year
39:58
old son in charge of the house because he's technically the man of the house.
40:01
But god forbid if there's a fire, because that gives in the panic
40:05
and run out the front door. And that's how I feel like about a
40:07
m rights like that, there's supposed to be a dad in the building and
40:10
there's not. No. I hear you, and to your point, I
40:14
agree with you. I think this needed to happen. It just wasn't working
40:16
anymore. They've tried and tried, and it just wasn't working, and something
40:22
needed to give. It was either going to be Omega the Bucks hangman They're
40:25
gonna leave, or Punk was gonna leave and they just resigned. So Punk
40:29
left or was fired, I should say to it, just it wasn't gonna
40:35
work anymore unless they sat down. And there's all these other stories from this
40:37
entire thing right on punk Side. The belief is it's he said, she
40:44
said stuff like crazy in this entire story. So punk Side is saying that
40:47
he see him, punk, Tony Kahan, and the elite, We're going
40:51
to sit down a couple. Was it the week before heading into All In?
40:57
They were in Atlanta, they were doing a collision and dynamite taping,
41:01
and they were going to all be in the same arena and it just finally
41:05
put this to rest and bury the hatchet or work with each other as best
41:09
they can. That never happened. Punk Side is saying that the elite canceled
41:15
last minute. The Elite side is saying that they never knew that was happening.
41:19
Again, he said she said stuff we all know about the all In
41:24
that led to all this stuff now and the firing. I will say the
41:29
stuff that I don't. So there's like a fifty fifty thing here I don't
41:34
like in regard I like and I don't like from Tony Khan. So let
41:37
me start by saying that I liked that Tony Khan got out in front of
41:43
this entire thing and spoke about it. He didn't hide it, he didn't
41:46
just put out a statement and that was that and pretended it never happened.
41:50
He got out in front of the live crowd in Chicago before the Collision show
41:52
on Saturday and spoke about it, got booed up the wazoo. It was
41:57
very awkward, which it tends to be at times with Tony Khan speaks,
42:01
and it wasn't well received. But you got to give him a hat tip
42:06
and respect that. Like he was out in front of it. Same thing.
42:08
They aired like a ninety second deal before Collision, him addressing firing.
42:15
You see him punk and head on addressing it again. Hat tip, all
42:19
that stuff. I give him props for addressing it. The part that I
42:22
don't like is he comes out and says, and I get this, so
42:28
we weren't there. We don't understand his perspective and all this stuff. It
42:31
just to me, it sounds like a lot of just to be completely blunt,
42:35
which is something we're losing nowadays, like corporate mumbo jumbo. When he
42:39
was like, I've been to so many wrestling shows in my life, and
42:42
I've never have I felt like my life was in danger as it was this
42:46
past Saturday. I had no point ever heard and I we've heard that there
42:51
was a lunging. We heard that there was something where see him Punk went
42:55
to either go up to Tony Khan, potentially attack Tony Khan, whatever,
43:01
there was some sort of movement towards Tony Khan. Do I ever think Sam
43:09
Punk was going to beat up Tony Khan, No, not at all.
43:14
I don't think anybody would have allowed that to happen, and I don't think
43:16
he would have done that quite honestly. So when he comes out and he's
43:21
like, my life was threatened, I thought that sounded so weak. I
43:24
thought it sounded so corporate mumbo jumbo, and I just threw the bullshit flag
43:30
on it. I thought that was the part that was bullshit. I give
43:34
him a hat tip for getting out in front of it and talking about it,
43:37
him saying that he thought his life was being threatened and and airing that
43:39
out to the fans like that. I just thought was that was bullshit.
43:45
You know, say what you will, whether you're pro seampunk or your anti
43:47
sampunk. That is like a hardcore cut of slander at Punk. They are
43:54
putting that out in the open as a means to demean the character of him.
44:02
I felt like if that was such a serious nature where people's lives felt
44:07
like they were threatened, that is something that the Dirt Sheets would have been
44:09
talking about in between All In and All Out, and we would have been
44:13
talking about it on last week's show, and nor at any point did ever
44:15
feel like that. You know, the thing is whether people like it or
44:20
not, the wrestling business was built on if you're going to run your mouth
44:23
and be a tough guy and not say something to my face or behind my
44:28
back, I'm going to confront you about it, and I may slap you,
44:31
I may punch, it may lead to a fight. We've heard those
44:36
stories. Jacques Rougau and Dynamite Kid come to mind, like Nails and Vince
44:42
wick Man come to mind. The wrestling business has been always around these stories,
44:49
whether it be Shamus and Yoshi Tatsu getting into it, Joey Styles punching
44:52
jbl on a flight. We've heard these stories where sometimes law is how they
45:00
carry it out in the professional wrestling business. So Jack Perry said something stupid
45:05
that he shouldn't have see him Punk Pie faced him put him in a guillotine
45:09
and now see Him Punks the one that is fired. I think that's a
45:15
little bit to how society is nowadays. It's making me sound a little bit
45:20
old. But if you're going to say something like that, like Jack Perry
45:22
did, you got to meet the consequences. And sometimes it's verbal, sometimes
45:25
it's physical. It's just kind of the way things are sometimes, and it
45:30
makes you learn that he can't say shit like that. But again, I
45:35
just did not dig Tony Khan saying that his life was threatened. And that's
45:38
coming from someone that's very middle on this entire thing. I'm I think they
45:43
made the right move by firing and See Him Punk. It just was not
45:45
working anymore. From a backstage perspective, I don't think he was happy.
45:49
I don't think they were happy, and they just needed to go their separate
45:51
ways. But that was the point that really irked me, Doctor Trey,
45:53
was that part of the Tony kann speech, because it just felt like it
45:55
was unnecessary and did not need to be aired out to the television audience or
46:00
the live audience. In my opinion, Yeah, like I like I said,
46:04
I didn't have an issue with See Him Punk being fired. Really like
46:07
you said, it wasn't working out. It's two different philosophies of style of
46:12
wrestling. It's just they don't they don't Mesh. I did commend Tony Kahn
46:16
for getting out in front of it, letting the live crowd you know,
46:22
about it before it came out in the dirtys or you know, and like
46:24
you said, the little video thing before collision about like I commend him all
46:29
that. You're absolutely right though about the way he said what he said,
46:35
because when I read the statement, out of everything, I read the statement,
46:39
you know it certainly those is he was fired with cause, which means
46:44
we have an excuse to get rid of you a dot Paig, Because that
46:46
was the hold up after brawl out was Punk wanted his money and they didn't
46:52
want to pay him his entire contract, and this was a way to for
46:55
them to get out from under the contract without having to pay him and them
47:00
trying to save face. But this is also the same company, Jeff that
47:04
you go back to their early days, and you and I sat here and
47:07
got onto that because they would poke at WWE all the time, and when
47:14
WW fired back, they would get hurt, their feelings would get hurt.
47:17
That's how this company's run like. This is how they've been the entire time.
47:22
Is uha, keep poking, keep poking, but don't you dare come
47:25
back at us. That's it's you're right like this, Wrestling is not.
47:31
This is one of the things. I hear this on the Indians all side,
47:35
like wrestlings for everybody, it's not. Wrestling is not per Working in
47:42
the wrestling business is not for everybody. You have to have a thick skin.
47:47
You have to have the ability to take criticism. You have to have
47:50
the ability to go, hey, if I run my about this guy might
47:52
punch me. Because that's how the wrestling business was rung. That's why it
47:58
was so people inside know all the secrets and how the magic tricks are done.
48:05
And in this world where we expose everything. Look, Vince McMahon let
48:12
Brett Hart punch him in the face. That's another one I forgot. Yep,
48:17
that's the difference between Tony conn and busy Man. Vince knew he did
48:21
something that would you know, piss off Brett Brett. He let Brett swing
48:25
on him, just let him do it, basic told him to do it
48:30
and didn't file charges. No, if your life is being threatened, Jeff,
48:35
if somebody's threatening your life, don't you at least follow a police reporting.
48:38
Yeah, I mean the famous line is Brett Hart said, don't let
48:42
tell that mf or not to come in here. Yeah, you know,
48:45
And that's to me like it was. It was a cop out. It
48:47
was a way to make them look good. And that's what happens when you
48:50
have a bunch of like hundred and fifty pound people running the wrestling business.
48:53
Yeah, it was. It was legal momo jumbo. That's probably going to
48:57
lead to a court issue. And that's I mean, AWS playing it strategically
49:01
rightfully so and he came out and did that, and the pawns and this
49:06
entire thing are US fans. So I did not like that at all.
49:08
I thought everything else has been whatever. They just needed to go their separate
49:14
ways and that's what they're doing. I thought that mumbo jumbo was bullshit,
49:17
and I just thought it was more for again when this goes to eventual court.
49:23
There's been a lot of rumors and stories that have been floating out there
49:27
that I guess Punk may have been trying to get out of his contract from
49:30
AW. Back in December, there were reports that he was trying to go
49:34
back to WWW. He was gonna return at the Royal Rumble and Kevin Owens
49:37
is going to eliminate him, which would lead to a program and WrestleMania.
49:40
We do know that he did show up, see him Punk to WWW when
49:45
they were in town Chicago. We talked about here on the podcast. That
49:49
was confirmed by PW Insider. I believe that Punk did briefly speak with Triple
49:52
H. I doubt they were like, Hey, I'm going to be fired
49:54
in a couple of months, can I come back? And Triple H was
49:58
like, sure, man, let's talk about at it. So you know,
50:01
Punk is now a free agent, Doctor Trey and that's that's a whole
50:06
discussion, this all, what's next. There are reports of higher ups in
50:09
WE that don't want him back. There's reports out there that I guess Punk
50:15
confronted William Regal when he when he came to a W and called him a
50:17
Triple H stooge, refused to, you know, shake his hand. We
50:22
know the Triple H and CM Punk Havin had the greatest of relationship, but
50:25
the Devil's advocate. This all is that this is we and we know that
50:30
controversy creates cash, and they've let a lot of people back in that door
50:34
that they've had issues with, whether the Bhul Cooke and Altered Warrior, Brett
50:37
Hart, they've all returned at some point. Will they open the door again
50:42
to see him Punk or see him Punk the one guy that has made the
50:45
McMahon family, including Triple H. He's part of that family. Go Nope,
50:50
this is it. This is where I draw the line to say,
50:51
and that asshole's not coming back. You know, don't forget cm Punk also
50:57
visited Impact Wrestling. That's saying we in that he visited w because both shows
51:00
were in town. So I mean the Impact Zone could welcome back to see
51:05
Impunk and maybe even Julio di Naro, Raven Clockwork of Orange Match. Let's
51:10
go there, you go? Uh, Like that would be the if you
51:15
talk about the greatest returned into a company wrestling history, it would be c
51:20
im Punk going back to Impact of all places. Uh. But you know,
51:25
one of the one of the things you said they're about, like,
51:28
you know, it's about money. That's the biggest between AW and ww Wwe
51:34
eventually will put feelings aside for the good of the company and not to mention
51:39
we have the ww Endeavor merger which owns UFC, and Punk and Dana White
51:45
apparently still have a good relationship, you know. So it's like it's kind
51:50
of like see him Punk with Fox when he got them backstage, I had
51:52
a gurlzer with Fox. They you know, pumped hibout the w EC to
51:57
give him a spot on the show. So that's why he was under a
51:59
Fox contracting, not a w w E contract. So money cures ailments,
52:05
I mean, is really the stuff I mean there is, Okay, maybe
52:08
maybe Punks on a little bit higher level than what Goldberg said about w tow
52:14
for Deck for almost a decade and then made a return, you know.
52:19
I mean, I mean in Goldberg in Triple H literally wanted to fight each
52:22
other. Punk and Triple I mean the things line up like eventually money cures
52:29
all ailments because guess what, I may hate you, but if I'm gonna
52:32
get to pick payday out of it, I'll put my feelings aside. It's
52:36
the one thing you and I say here and talked about, why is not
52:38
Punk in Obega at all in a Wembley Stadium biggest money match you've had and
52:45
you just put aside because somebody's feelings gould have gotten hurt. It makes no
52:51
sense to me, like I'm trying to run a business, not a friendship.
52:54
And I think that's where eight of you misses the boat. Sometimes they
52:58
don't capitalize on stuff to make their product even bigger for the sake of hurting
53:04
somebody's feelings. Last thing I want to talk about here, doctor Trey,
53:07
is how does this entire situation affect the legacy of cmpunk in your mind?
53:15
If he ends up back in WWW and has a decent run, I think
53:19
people look at it as like, yeah, him and adw is like oil
53:22
and water. It doesn't mesh and it was probably a bad decision on everybody.
53:27
If he does not go back to W, then this is that,
53:30
you know, that black cloud that's going to linger over him, you know,
53:35
for as long as he's doing autograph signings and book signings and things like
53:38
that. Like it kind of depends if there is a next chapter to the
53:44
book of cmpunk and what that chapter is. If he goes back to Impact,
53:47
it has a two year run and Impact and Impact World Champion, people
53:51
won't remember it fifteen years from now. They'll be like, oh, yeah,
53:53
I member, he got fired from ADW. But if he pops into
53:58
what we're September, if he shows up at the Royal Rumble this year and
54:02
gets that huge response and ends up in one of the featured matches at Wrestle
54:07
Media, hey, maybe even the last match on a Wrestle Media night.
54:14
We're not gonna like, We're just gonna look at the AW. Sub was
54:16
like, yeah, it's kind of like when WCW had issues with half their
54:20
roster and people were bailing out because it was poorly run. That's I literally
54:23
think that's where the crossroads and all this is is the next chapter of the
54:30
CM punk. Keep in mind, if these reports are true, his experience
54:34
in AW was so bad that he was willing to go back to way.
54:37
I think that's like the way that we summ it up here, the place
54:40
that almost killed him. Yeah yeah, and actually where he actually felt his
54:46
life was being threatened. Yeah, and then that was like really deep bad
54:52
blood there at some points. I mean, they went to court with one
54:57
night, which again they fired him on honeymoon they did, yeah, I
55:00
mean, and I mean really bad stuff that went on between those two.
55:07
So last week I asked, you did we just see see him Punk's last
55:09
match in AW. I now ask you in general, Doctor Trey, have
55:14
we watched the imp Punk's last resting match? No, because other companies look
55:17
at this and they see how what was the numbers on Collision? How much
55:22
did the ratings drop after they bade the announcement, Like there's like forty percent
55:25
drop or something like that. There's some weird number like that when they now
55:29
see him Punk was fired, like the ratings drop. Other companies look at
55:32
that, go, well, obviously, that means he's a draw. If
55:37
he can draw money for us, why would we not figure out some way
55:40
to use him. This would be a huge slap in the face for w
55:45
WE to a W two if they brought back Punk. In my opinion,
55:49
Oh yeah, not on I mean, you're you're you're going So you say
55:53
in the last two years, you could take Cody Rhodes and see him Punk
55:57
from AW send me up arguably the two of the three biggest names that have
56:02
walked in the door of that company, Because I will tell you I think
56:07
Cody and seem Punk are bigger names than John Mockley. J Jericho'll be the
56:13
only one I put in those three, they're a bigger name than Brian Danielson.
56:19
Agree. So, so two of the three biggest names your company has
56:22
had walked out of the door. One walked out willingly despite how much money
56:28
you offered him to stay, and the other one was so miserable he tried
56:32
to figure out a way to get fired and had already gone to two other
56:37
companies while under contract to figure out a way to get there. Well,
56:42
okay, so you since you said that, I brought it up on last
56:44
week's show that I felt like he was looking for ways to get fired.
56:46
It just felt like that based on the stories. Do you think Seampunk was
56:50
looking to get fired by aw Ah not. I don't think see him Punk
56:55
was actually actively trying to get fired, because there's ways of doing that.
57:00
I think that, based on what happened at all in he had just hit
57:06
his breaking point, like all this, like the meeting, the travel shit,
57:10
there's twenty two year old popping off at the mouth at him and him
57:15
feeling like like nobody had his back in any of this other than FTR.
57:20
Yeah, at that point I think he was just like, fucking I'm done.
57:23
I think he kept trying to make it work because he was. I
57:27
mean, Collision was a cohesive. That was a really great show. The
57:32
last couple of episodes have not been good. Yeah, and he hasn't really
57:36
been around to help out on those, like the stuff that he was supposed
57:38
to get therefore helping out on and you know an FDR had a hand in.
57:42
Those were fantastic shows and really good television, great announcing storyline and I
57:49
enjoyed it. Yeah, and that to me shows he was trying to make
57:54
it work. It's like when you work like I don't. I I've been
58:00
in places where I'm like I'm busting my ass, and every time I do
58:02
something good in my job, it feels like somebody's there to undermine me.
58:07
And you just get to a breaking point and you're just like, strew it.
58:10
If you fire me, you fire me. I don't care. And
58:14
I think after what happened, I think what happened at all in he was
58:15
just like, strew it. I'm done. I don't care what you do.
58:19
At this point, he did say I quit. That's what they were
58:21
saying as I quit, and Tony Kama was like, no, you don't
58:22
quit, You're fired. The Rick Flaire, I'm so fire I don't you
58:30
fire me. I'm already fired. Fire me, I'm already fired. So
58:36
the chapter's over for now. I guess the AW CM punk chapter is officially
58:40
over. I'm kind of mind blown because I think if there was any organization
58:45
or promotion where CM punk would like do really well and it would be a
58:50
w So, I mean, we'll never truly know, you know, who's
58:55
at fault here, AW or CM Punk, A little of both probably you
59:00
know somewhere is in the middle. Is the truth shocking that this could not
59:06
work itself out at some point and do what's right. But I've been saying
59:08
that for a while. It's like, how the hell could they be going
59:10
to Wembley and it's so bad that the elite and Sampunk can't get together and
59:15
try to make some money. I never understood that, and maybe maybe that's
59:20
where I lean a little bit more towards Sampunk, because everything that we're hearing
59:24
is that Punk did want to meet with him, didn't want to work with
59:27
him. That's why he had that really bad promo about hanging on page that
59:30
we covered a couple of weeks ago in the show. After the Collision went
59:34
off the air, I don't know. I don't know how you don't capitalize
59:38
on and I guess it's that bad that they just don't want to do anything.
59:40
So we'll see why this is gonna be something we're gonna be talking about
59:44
for the next couple of weeks for sure, the verifications. Who knows.
59:46
There's reports out there that Sampunk is supposed to be responding soon and it's going
59:50
to be quote explosive. I don't know if it's as explosive as that diarrhea
59:54
that ground to that delta plane orever the hell that was a couple of days
59:59
ago. Maybe it's it's very explosive, but hopefully it doesn't lead to lead
1:00:04
any legal ramifications like the last time. So I'm sure his lawyer, cempunks
1:00:07
lawyers probably taking a look at what this statement's gonna before he comes out and
1:00:12
says anything. But the cm punk era in all elite wrestling is over,
1:00:16
and it feels like over before it ever started, quite honestly, because a
1:00:20
lot of injury time. Yeah, it's it's up. It's sad. It's
1:00:27
ultimately it's sad. I thought this was gonna really be great for AW and
1:00:30
it's been quite the opposite. With that, let's close up shop on this
1:00:34
week's ssition the podcast, we'll get a couple of plugs and spots out of
