- 0:40Speaker 3: It is so apparent from the moment the music starts
- 0:44Speaker 3: when DJ Hickscorp is on the ones and twos and
- 0:48Speaker 3: Chip is not here.
- 0:50Speaker 4: So I was explaining to Ann the other day, you
- 0:54Speaker 4: know Chip has his typical Christmas fare. Yeah, he picks
- 1:01Speaker 4: walking around in women's underwear is the big I think
- 1:04Speaker 4: the one he plays the most, And I'm trying to
- 1:05Speaker 4: think of the other one because the slew of Christmas
- 1:12Speaker 4: parody songs that have recently come out, which by the way,
- 1:17Speaker 4: I still have the Doctor Demento cassette tape of the
- 1:21Speaker 4: Doctor Demento Christmas, which I still think is the standard bearer,
- 1:25Speaker 4: but so many good ones have come out over the
- 1:27Speaker 4: last decade. In fact, I would dare say the Christmas
- 1:30Speaker 4: parody songs of the last decade far exceed any of
- 1:33Speaker 4: the just regular Christmas songs that have been produced over
- 1:37Speaker 4: the last decade, because people just don't have the creativity anymore.

- 1:47Speaker 3: Trade eleven fift Damn The Zone ninety three seven FM.
- 1:50Speaker 3: We got this call like it's time. Yeah, it was
- 1:54Speaker 3: the Pinch.
- 1:54Speaker 4: It it was twenty five hours ago because I was
- 1:57Speaker 4: driving to pick up Peyton from Oakwood when the text
- 2:00Speaker 4: came in.
- 2:00Speaker 3: The Pinch hit coming in for Chip Today. And we
- 2:02Speaker 3: are always happy to do it, and I know, super
- 2:04Speaker 3: excited to do it because some things that we're going
- 2:06Speaker 3: to look back at, but also things that we're going
- 2:08Speaker 3: to look forward at, like this is not I don't
- 2:11Speaker 3: is there has there ever been a bigger week for
- 2:17Speaker 3: all of Aggie athletics.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Okay, I and I purposely worded it that way.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Oh I know you did.
- 2:24Speaker 4: I did say one of the because yes, A and
- 2:28Speaker 4: M playing first round of the College football Playoffs, obvious
- 2:32Speaker 4: time ever biggest game probably for A and M football really,
- 2:39Speaker 4: I mean, I dare say since the nineteen fifties because
- 2:42Speaker 4: I don't think ever well and except for the nineteen
- 2:46Speaker 4: thirty nine oh well, but yeah, biggest one.
- 2:49Speaker 3: That was like a week I mean, and again going
- 2:51Speaker 3: back to that, that was a yes, the title that
- 2:53Speaker 3: we took, like right.
- 2:56Speaker 4: But to also have volleyball in the final four playing
- 2:59Speaker 4: Thursday night, which the only downside to A and M
- 3:03Speaker 4: being in the College Football Playoff is taking away potential
- 3:07Speaker 4: Aggies from making the trip up to Kansas City, because
- 3:10Speaker 4: honestly speaking, Ann and I love case, we probably would have.
- 3:14Speaker 4: I don't think you go there about once a yain. Yeah,
- 3:19Speaker 4: the hard part would have been trying to get there
- 3:22Speaker 4: on a Thursday, but that they won that game probably
- 3:24Speaker 4: would have gone up for Sunday. But obviously now going
- 3:27Speaker 4: with the football game, but I still believe that the
- 3:29Speaker 4: volleyball diehards will be in case we well represented.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Yeah they will and again hearing everybody, including our friend,
- 3:36Speaker 3: which like that has been a growing fan base, but
- 3:39Speaker 3: a growing fan base because of how well that team
- 3:42Speaker 3: and like it just they have been building upon this
- 3:45Speaker 3: for a few years now and to see them and again,
- 3:48Speaker 3: I don't know how to get people to understand the
- 3:54Speaker 3: level of what they just did beating Nebraska in Nebraska
- 4:00Speaker 3: and what that like, I don't know the the appropriate
- 4:03Speaker 3: like parallel to what Nebraska volleyball is, especially in football,
- 4:08Speaker 3: Like I don't.
- 4:09Speaker 4: I mean, I mean, I would dare say it's beating
- 4:13Speaker 4: the Yukon women's basketball team in Connecticut, yep, or you know,
- 4:17Speaker 4: getting a game against Don Staley's South Carolina. I mean
- 4:21Speaker 4: it's something to that on that.
- 4:23Speaker 3: Degree of Yukon one four straight when uh Trossi was there.
- 4:29Speaker 3: That's got That's the closest I can think of to
- 4:32Speaker 3: where Nebraska volleyball is because like heck, we can even
- 4:36Speaker 3: say we beat Bama Saban's Alabama in Alaba and Tuscaloosa before,
- 4:41Speaker 3: so like I can't even compare it to really that
- 4:43Speaker 3: because other teams have like you don't win in Nebraska.
- 4:47Speaker 4: And more so when you when you talk about football.
- 4:49Speaker 4: I mean, you were talking one game sample, and when
- 4:51Speaker 4: we start talking about the college football playoff in the
- 4:53Speaker 4: second hour, this one game sample is going to become
- 4:56Speaker 4: a topic of conversation. The thing with volleyball, and like,
- 4:59Speaker 4: watch watching the game against Louisville Friday night. We were
- 5:02Speaker 4: in Austin. It was on TV, just prior to a
- 5:06Speaker 4: Christmas party, and I had to stop watching because I
- 5:08Speaker 4: was like, this is going to bring me down because
- 5:10Speaker 4: we were in the first set, Louisville came back to win,
- 5:13Speaker 4: and then they started off the second set strong, and
- 5:15Speaker 4: I'm like, no, this is where the ride ends. And
- 5:18Speaker 4: then get the score update at the party and it's
- 5:22Speaker 4: like A and M three sets straight. And then to
- 5:25Speaker 4: come on Sunday and do that against Nebraska.
- 5:28Speaker 3: I don't know if Alison Harrell is listening or if
- 5:32Speaker 3: her husband Killer is listening, but he almost jinks the
- 5:35Speaker 3: entire thing. So they we are getting ready to go
- 5:39Speaker 3: into the third set, and he sends a message saying,
- 5:41Speaker 3: I don't want to jinx it, but we're about to
- 5:43Speaker 3: beat Nebraska in Nebraska. And that was going into the
- 5:46Speaker 3: third which was the third set was the I'm glad
- 5:49Speaker 3: we won. He redeemed himself and that they or they
- 5:51Speaker 3: redeemed him, that they won. But like you people, you
- 5:54Speaker 3: don't do that. Don't do that, you don't do that.
- 5:56Speaker 4: That's why at halftime day after things giving, I wasn't
- 6:00Speaker 4: saying a word publicly. Oh no, not at all, but
- 6:05Speaker 4: I wasn't saying it.
- 6:06Speaker 3: A really good friend and so I was in San Antonio.
- 6:10Speaker 3: We are playing Memphis for a chance to go to
- 6:15Speaker 3: the lead eight and my friend like weird, like like
- 6:19Speaker 3: and my friend I was like, are you ready to
- 6:20Speaker 3: go to Atlanta? And I'm like, at that moment, because
- 6:25Speaker 3: because that was you final four was Atlanta, I had
- 6:27Speaker 3: already like separately, I had already talked to family like
- 6:30Speaker 3: if this happens, I'm going to be staying on your
- 6:32Speaker 3: couch because we had we had killed Ohio State that year.
- 6:36Speaker 3: If we had just gotten by Memphis.
- 6:37Speaker 4: Ye, So Anne and her brother drove down for that game.
- 6:41Speaker 4: I couldn't make it because I was at a rotary thing.
- 6:43Speaker 4: But she texted me and that kind of the same
- 6:46Speaker 4: action as he was like.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Do that, Yeah, you can't. You can't just just just
- 6:52Speaker 3: let her ride out. So, yes, killer, you redeemed or
- 6:54Speaker 3: you were redeemed by a very very good women's volleyball team,
- 7:00Speaker 3: and I just I can't like.
- 7:01Speaker 4: So going back to your original quest, Yes, I do
- 7:05Speaker 4: believe it is probably the biggest It may be the
- 7:08Speaker 4: biggest week in all of Aggie athletics. I do think
- 7:10Speaker 4: back to you know, twenty eleven, the women's basketball team,
- 7:15Speaker 4: both of the women's softball teams World Series twenty twenty
- 7:22Speaker 4: or the twenty twenty four men's baseball World Series win.
- 7:26Speaker 4: Those were huge, huge events as we drew near. But
- 7:31Speaker 4: the fact that you have both of these sports playing
- 7:33Speaker 4: with so much on the line, yes, within seventy two
- 7:37Speaker 4: hours of each other.
- 7:37Speaker 3: And that's the thing because I'm thinking back, Okay, so
- 7:39Speaker 3: we know when tennis one, that was like there there
- 7:43Speaker 3: was nobody else around. There's because and we've had some
- 7:46Speaker 3: of the non tradition.
- 7:48Speaker 4: By the way, we're not trying to be little any
- 7:50Speaker 4: of what Track's been able to do, what golf is
- 7:52Speaker 4: what I'm saying, I just from the context of with
- 7:55Speaker 4: two sports.
- 7:56Speaker 3: That's what I'm saying all of. Yeah, when you're I'm
- 7:58Speaker 3: trying to look at like all it because when Track won,
- 8:01Speaker 3: like no nobody else was around them. That was I mean,
- 8:03Speaker 3: baseball didn't live up to what they were trying to
- 8:06Speaker 3: live up to when track was winning. This passport like
- 8:07Speaker 3: all of those like to have all of this going
- 8:10Speaker 3: on right now, right now.
- 8:12Speaker 4: And is at this level because it's not like, oh,
- 8:15Speaker 4: we're just we're just dipping our toe into the playoffs.
- 8:19Speaker 4: It's like, no, this this is the series. This is
- 8:21Speaker 4: the serious thing. Because if the volleyball team wins on Thursday,
- 8:25Speaker 4: then they're playing Sunday for the championship. If football wins
- 8:30Speaker 4: on Saturday, they're playing in Dallas in the Cotton Bowl
- 8:35Speaker 4: against Ohio State New Year's Eve.
- 8:38Speaker 3: And that is like, again unbelievable, and and we will
- 8:42Speaker 3: get more into that, but yeah, just how this is
- 8:45Speaker 3: all stacking up and how this is all like it is.
- 8:48Speaker 4: Just so so all to say. When Chip textans like
- 8:50Speaker 4: do you want to host, It's like yes, except I
- 8:54Speaker 4: gotta find out if my kids can.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah it was again, and you and I talked
- 9:00Speaker 3: about this summertimes. We always appreciate when when Chip reaches
- 9:03Speaker 3: out to us, he he normally gives us a little
- 9:05Speaker 3: more lead time than.
- 9:06Speaker 4: I mean, you know, in certain things come up, in
- 9:09Speaker 4: certain certain circumstances, you can make it happen. But man,
- 9:12Speaker 4: you this this week, with everything going on, you know,
- 9:16Speaker 4: Christmas related, school related, and sports related, we are we
- 9:21Speaker 4: are scrambling to to find the babysitting capacity that we need.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Because everybody, yeah that is have Okay, so okay, sweet
- 9:29Speaker 3: peas still in sixth grade, so is have How have
- 9:33Speaker 3: y'all left them at the house yet?
- 9:37Speaker 4: Next question? Yes, uh, for a I know, Peyton's definitely
- 9:46Speaker 4: not old enough to baby said no, not like an hour,
- 9:51Speaker 4: an hour at a time. I mean, they're they're they
- 9:55Speaker 4: are not just capable, I mean they are very well.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Y'all are raising some amazing young ladies.
- 10:00Speaker 4: And so are you. I don't I mean, for God's sake,
- 10:03Speaker 4: the example you're leading for your kids. Man, that's gonna
- 10:07Speaker 4: be some big shoes to fill. But I know they're
- 10:09Speaker 4: they're going to be up to the task because of
- 10:10Speaker 4: their parents. But thank you for that. I mean, but
- 10:14Speaker 4: in the context of you know how this would normally work,
- 10:17Speaker 4: it's just the fact of I've got we've got another
- 10:22Speaker 4: Christmas party on Thursday. Then you have this football game early,
- 10:26Speaker 4: you know, early Saturday morning, which man, and.
- 10:29Speaker 3: And here's the thing, and and we can get in
- 10:31Speaker 3: this little bit more later. Like I I do not
- 10:34Speaker 3: like and I know I don't like how the NFL
- 10:39Speaker 3: is just just basically swinging it and saying we are
- 10:42Speaker 3: going to do what everyone because the college like the
- 10:44Speaker 3: main reason why the Saturday games there is earlies are
- 10:46Speaker 3: because they don't want to compete with the NFL games
- 10:49Speaker 3: that are going on later that night. But why is
- 10:50Speaker 3: the the NFL has now known about the college football
- 10:55Speaker 3: playoff for the for this length of it, for now
- 10:57Speaker 3: two years. They know that this is a thing, but
- 10:59Speaker 3: they're still like, that's a Saturday we want December.
- 11:01Speaker 4: But not just not only do they know about it,
- 11:03Speaker 4: I mean from the standpoint of this is your minor
- 11:08Speaker 4: league feeder systems, uh huh, Like you should be playing
- 11:12Speaker 4: ball better with this as opposed to say, the other
- 11:15Speaker 4: sports where you are trying to put the foot down,
- 11:18Speaker 4: like on Christmas Day in the NBA. But you know,
- 11:22Speaker 4: for the teams, like, I don't get, do you prefer
- 11:27Speaker 4: to play on a Saturday where it's one day shorter
- 11:31Speaker 4: of preparation But I guess you get one extra day
- 11:34Speaker 4: of rest ahead of the following week. That part I
- 11:38Speaker 4: don't necessarily get. But you know, the NFL is about
- 11:42Speaker 4: to throw out the eighteenth game, like that's probably gonna
- 11:46Speaker 4: come to pass. But I agree, I mean also, I
- 11:50Speaker 4: also just don't like the fact that the College Football
- 11:54Speaker 4: Playoff is an invitational built for television.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Oh, it is a TV show.
- 11:59Speaker 4: You're telling me that Oregon James Madison deserves the primetime slot.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Granted it's on T n T and HBO Max, but
- 12:14Speaker 4: that deserves a primetime spot. And arguably the two probably
- 12:19Speaker 4: the two teams ranked six or lower that have an
- 12:23Speaker 4: opportunity to actually go the distance is eleven o'clock on Saturday.
- 12:27Speaker 4: That part I have trouble.
- 12:29Speaker 3: With, Well, what I was, what I'm thinking and what
- 12:32Speaker 3: people are basically kind of say is or trying to
- 12:35Speaker 3: say is And I understand it from a again, for
- 12:39Speaker 3: it being a TV show. They want the better games
- 12:41Speaker 3: to be able to have the most eyeballs. Ye, not
- 12:43Speaker 3: competing against the NFL because again yeah, Oregon and Oregon
- 12:49Speaker 3: Boys state. Am I saying that one right? Neither way?
- 12:53Speaker 3: No orgon JMU is that unless things just completely fun,
- 13:00Speaker 3: that one should be over very quickly, and so they unders.
- 13:05Speaker 4: Like Jeleno miss you know, getting getting the two thirty
- 13:08Speaker 4: spot again it's on tn T. I mean, I'm with
- 13:12Speaker 4: you from the standpoint of for ESPN, they are getting
- 13:16Speaker 4: the best game, they're getting the two they're getting the.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Two best games if they can't the Friday night game
- 13:20Speaker 3: and hour, they're getting that to where they are not
- 13:22Speaker 3: competing with the NFL.
- 13:24Speaker 4: I just for me, if if we had an m
- 13:28Speaker 4: Miami Friday Night Kyle Field, to me, that seems like
- 13:32Speaker 4: a much more compelling products.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Of OU Alabama and I and I get that. But
- 13:40Speaker 3: here's the other Like, that's.
- 13:42Speaker 5: Why the college football playoff system, whoever is in charge
- 13:46Speaker 5: of that, needs to step up and talk to an
- 13:48Speaker 5: NFL and be like, hey, they like stay off of Saturday.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Like this is like give us this. As you said,
- 13:56Speaker 3: if we are supposed to be giving you your future players,
- 13:58Speaker 3: y'all need to be able to give us this well.
- 14:00Speaker 4: And more to the point, with the NFL at this
- 14:02Speaker 4: point in the game, keep your games on Sunday. I
- 14:05Speaker 4: mean that's what that's what makes because.
- 14:07Speaker 3: You have Thursdays, Sunday and Monday, some.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Of these games on Sunday. And we'll get to the
- 14:13Speaker 4: schedule in a minute. That's gonna be some unwatchable garbage. Yes,
- 14:16Speaker 4: but you're gonna be forced to watch it because you're
- 14:19Speaker 4: only gonna have maybe three games to choose for them
- 14:22Speaker 4: at a time.
- 14:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's it. But yeah, you have you already
- 14:24Speaker 3: have Thursday, then you have Sunday, and like leave Saturdays alone.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Final app is coming up here in just a second,
- 14:32Speaker 3: and then Jared and I will be back on the
- 14:34Speaker 3: other side. The Final app is brought to you by
- 14:35Speaker 3: Enco Insurance. You're listening to Chip Hower Sports Talk on
- 14:38Speaker 3: Sports Radio eleven fifty am, The Zone ninety three seven FM.

- 15:00Speaker 6: lized service you expect now with the strength of Hub
- 15:02Speaker 6: International behind us, more resources, more solutions, still your team
- 15:07Speaker 6: and co Insurance a Hub International company, so you're ready
- 15:10Speaker 6: for tomorrow.
- 15:13Speaker 4: NASCAR has been hinting at adding horsepower, especially when it
- 15:16Speaker 4: comes to short tracks.
- 15:17Speaker 7: So what does Cup Series driver Ryan Priese have to
- 15:20Speaker 7: think about that.
- 15:21Speaker 8: Yeah, I mean that's a really tough deal to answer
- 15:24Speaker 8: because I don't know all the pieces. What I do
- 15:27Speaker 8: know is that, you know, from the driver's standpoint, I
- 15:30Speaker 8: wish we would be able to go to a test
- 15:32Speaker 8: and overshoot it, give us too much and just have
- 15:37Speaker 8: to dial it back from there, because you know, I
- 15:40Speaker 8: feel like we need I know, a thousand horse powers
- 15:43Speaker 8: seems like a big number, but in my eyes, with
- 15:46Speaker 8: the car away and thirty five hundred pounds, you're going
- 15:50Speaker 8: to need a big percentage increase to notice I think
- 15:55Speaker 8: what we're trying to accomplish. But yeah, I think there's
- 15:58Speaker 8: so many different ways you can go about it. I'd
- 16:02Speaker 8: just like to see us try to try to test
- 16:04Speaker 8: on the a lot more side. Obviously, Richmond's a staple
- 16:09Speaker 8: when it comes to NASCAR and the schedule, so I
- 16:13Speaker 8: think it's going to be packed, you know, going there
- 16:16Speaker 8: one time a year and and really just the racing
- 16:19Speaker 8: that it's it's gonna put out there is going to
- 16:22Speaker 8: be second to none. So I'm excited about it.
- 16:26Speaker 9: Also, I think.
- 16:27Speaker 8: For for a lot of us, I believe we're running
- 16:30Speaker 8: the option tire that we ran last year and and
- 16:33Speaker 8: maybe somebody can correct me if I'm wrong, but that'll
- 16:37Speaker 8: that'll create a different dynamic as well.
- 16:39Speaker 3: This is the final app.

- 17:56Speaker 2: and plip thin.
- 17:57Speaker 3: But do you recall what's that the most.
- 18:01Speaker 14: Hello put off the end Redium?
- 18:07Speaker 3: They did you ever thought him?
- 18:10Speaker 15: You didn't even say.
- 18:13Speaker 9: The other region.
- 18:17Speaker 3: RP going in any Raine game probably. And I was
- 18:23Speaker 3: watching and a couple of artists from that time frame
- 18:33Speaker 3: from like ninety nine to six or seven way and
- 18:37Speaker 3: I heard it was Nelly was doing an interview and
- 18:41Speaker 3: he's like, really before that because hip hop hadn't really
- 18:46Speaker 3: picked up as much and after that it's been but
- 18:49Speaker 3: like he's like he's like he had to compete against himself,
- 18:52Speaker 3: Eminem Jay Z, d m X, Like there was so
- 18:57Speaker 3: like like and they were all dropping like huge albums.
- 19:02Speaker 4: And I mean really and I know this isn't necessarily
- 19:07Speaker 4: the entertainment segment, but if we, if we, and we
- 19:10Speaker 4: won't stray too much into it. Watching the Netflix documentary, okay,
- 19:19Speaker 4: it reminds you of the vacuum that was left in
- 19:23Speaker 4: ninety seven.
- 19:24Speaker 3: Yes, I mean that's so yeah.
- 19:27Speaker 4: After basically basically, once you have that and the fact
- 19:32Speaker 4: that death Row goes under Snoop is kind of left
- 19:37Speaker 4: to to he he goes, he ends up at no
- 19:41Speaker 4: limits because I mean he he is, he is literally
- 19:44Speaker 4: just floundering. Dre obviously produces finds eminem that then.
- 19:51Speaker 3: But that took a while. The aftermath didn't come forward, while.
- 19:55Speaker 4: Well it comes because I remember the one and then
- 20:00Speaker 4: it's like, well, I guess he's kind of just doing
- 20:03Speaker 4: it and then but yeah, you're right, I mean that
- 20:06Speaker 4: vacuum allows for all these artists to get that music
- 20:10Speaker 4: out there, hit the airwaves, fill that void, especially when
- 20:15Speaker 4: you're competing against boy band bubblegum pop and you need
- 20:20Speaker 4: something that just goes in the complete opposite direction, because
- 20:24Speaker 4: at that point rock music is definitely on the way out, right,
- 20:29Speaker 4: because then we get into the butt rock era of
- 20:32Speaker 4: Nickelback and all that garbage. But I mean, yeah, and
- 20:40Speaker 4: that was a I mean, it's not quite as fierce
- 20:44Speaker 4: as it is now from the the disc track, but
- 20:49Speaker 4: it was still pretty competitive from the standpoint of you
- 20:53Speaker 4: had you had, you still kind of had that West Coast,
- 20:56Speaker 4: Third Coast Atlanta and then the East Coast, those different
- 21:00Speaker 4: styles and then Nelly comes along just out.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Out of the way and nobody expected it. But yeah,
- 21:06Speaker 3: so much going on CHIP our sports talk today Jason
- 21:08Speaker 3: Corno's Jared Hicks and for Chip he called us out
- 21:11Speaker 3: of the bullpen to day to come in on a
- 21:13Speaker 3: Tuesday afternoon. A lot going on obviously in Aggie athletics
- 21:17Speaker 3: this week. We talked about that a little bit. Going
- 21:20Speaker 3: to get into a little bit of quick NFL talk
- 21:23Speaker 3: is that's again we talked about it just for a
- 21:25Speaker 3: second of how the NFL needs to kind of take
- 21:28Speaker 3: a step back and let college football have it Saturdays.
- 21:31Speaker 3: But they're not doing that, even though they might, as
- 21:34Speaker 3: I'm looking at the screen right now, of the amount
- 21:36Speaker 3: of injuries that happened over the week.
- 21:39Speaker 4: Okay, not just this weekend, let's talk about for the year.
- 21:41Speaker 4: I mean, because the weekend was devastating in and of itself. Obviously,
- 21:44Speaker 4: if you don't already know. Patrick Mahomes goes down with
- 21:46Speaker 4: a torn ACL and apparently also an LCL injury.
- 21:50Speaker 3: He had surgery.
- 21:50Speaker 4: This is surgery this morning, which for those out there
- 21:54Speaker 4: who have ailments that have been trying to get surgery,
- 21:58Speaker 4: and you got to get on the dock like two
- 22:00Speaker 4: or three months in advance. Man be the best football
- 22:04Speaker 4: football player in Kansas City and they find room for it.
- 22:07Speaker 4: But also Michael Parsons going Parsons going down, which when
- 22:11Speaker 4: you watch that, you.
- 22:13Speaker 3: Knew non contact injury, which I.
- 22:16Speaker 4: Was gonna bring up to you. It's we are at
- 22:19Speaker 4: a point now where whether it's the NFL or it's
- 22:22Speaker 4: the NBA, when you see a player go down in
- 22:26Speaker 4: a certain way, when they start grabbing the extremity the
- 22:30Speaker 4: way they do, you know it's a ACL when it's
- 22:34Speaker 4: the knee. You know it's achilles tear when it's so
- 22:37Speaker 4: this year alone, there have been thirty torn acls in
- 22:42Speaker 4: the NFL and seasons still not over. Last year they
- 22:46Speaker 4: were thirty eight, and twenty twenty three there were forty three,
- 22:48Speaker 4: in twenty two there were fifty one, and in twenty
- 22:51Speaker 4: one they were fifty seven torn acls.
- 22:54Speaker 3: I I will say, and I know and I understand,
- 22:58Speaker 3: And even going back, I heard it on some some
- 23:03Speaker 3: thing that I was watching the other day when they
- 23:06Speaker 3: talked about what coach Saban would do as far as
- 23:09Speaker 3: like you still do hard tackling, you just don't go
- 23:12Speaker 3: to the ground. And I heard coach Schmidt at kinsall
- 23:16Speaker 3: say that, like they go good on good and you
- 23:18Speaker 3: do full tackling, you just do not go to the ground.
- 23:22Speaker 3: And what I think has happened this is me I
- 23:24Speaker 3: am not as and tune into what they were looking
- 23:28Speaker 3: at when they started when when the NFLPA negotiated like
- 23:33Speaker 3: less contact in preseason and less contact during training camp
- 23:39Speaker 3: and and all like that, your body's not ready for
- 23:44Speaker 3: everything that is going on because you haven't told your
- 23:47Speaker 3: body that you're ready for that. And so one of
- 23:51Speaker 3: the things I think about, like if they go to
- 23:52Speaker 3: the eighteen game season that you're talking about, like that
- 23:55Speaker 3: it is coming, like don't for a second thing that's
- 23:57Speaker 3: not But I also think that they need to expand
- 24:00Speaker 3: the roster, which I think they said they're going to do.
- 24:02Speaker 3: That's one of the things come up. But like you
- 24:04Speaker 3: can't play for two games, like you like you are
- 24:07Speaker 3: ineligible for two of those eighteen games, like, and the
- 24:11Speaker 3: roster's bigger. You just got to figure it out, and
- 24:13Speaker 3: coaches have to figure out who and when they want
- 24:15Speaker 3: to play. But like, you can't keep putting their bodies
- 24:18Speaker 3: through this, especially because if they go to that eighteen
- 24:20Speaker 3: gay say, I wouldn't want a long preseason either now,
- 24:24Speaker 3: So you've got to be able to manage that.
- 24:27Speaker 4: Obviously, when we get into the college football discussion, we
- 24:30Speaker 4: started talking about bowl games, and you know, there's all
- 24:32Speaker 4: the discussion about opting out and things like that. A
- 24:35Speaker 4: lot of that is just due to the fact you
- 24:37Speaker 4: don't want to put your body at risk for a
- 24:40Speaker 4: meaningless game.
- 24:41Speaker 3: YEP.
- 24:41Speaker 4: In the context of the NFL. Every in the regular
- 24:44Speaker 4: season of college football, every game is important, every game matters.
- 24:48Speaker 4: But you are essentially and I don't I hate to
- 24:51Speaker 4: use this expression, but what you are putting your body through,
- 24:54Speaker 4: you are going to war every week because when you
- 24:56Speaker 4: talk to these players post their career, especially when you
- 25:00Speaker 4: talk to offensive and defensive linemen, their bodies are wrecked.
- 25:04Speaker 3: And everyone says that you were in a car wreck
- 25:07Speaker 3: every every eight like you are.
- 25:08Speaker 4: It is and that and the thing with Michael Parsons
- 25:12Speaker 4: when you watch that play, because he's pursuing bon Nicks.
- 25:16Speaker 4: Like you say, it's non contact, but when they slow
- 25:19Speaker 4: it down, and especially when they show that camera angle
- 25:21Speaker 4: coming out of the end zone, so you're seeing it
- 25:23Speaker 4: from bo Nix's back and you're seeing Micah Parsons front facing,
- 25:27Speaker 4: and you see that body, that body weight shift from
- 25:30Speaker 4: right to left and then he's having to shift to
- 25:34Speaker 4: the right again. And they slow it down and you
- 25:36Speaker 4: watch that knee. It shifts left, then right, and then
- 25:42Speaker 4: it does this buckling thing while his leg is still stationary.
- 25:47Speaker 4: That's just the sheer force of this two to almost
- 25:53Speaker 4: three hundred pounds individual running at full speed trying to
- 25:57Speaker 4: turn on a dime. That's why you know, or uh,
- 26:01Speaker 4: you know, the reports are Le'Veon Bell is still questionable
- 26:04Speaker 4: on his return. One of the reasons A and M
- 26:07Speaker 4: has been successful this year is because they have a
- 26:10Speaker 4: physical therapist on staff. And I know these two, I
- 26:13Speaker 4: know a number of these teams probably do have a
- 26:15Speaker 4: PT on staff. There are teams that you get the
- 26:18Speaker 4: feeling they're probably not spending the money on that Cincinnati
- 26:21Speaker 4: and Cleveland, because your play you have so many players
- 26:24Speaker 4: who are constantly getting injured or not being able to
- 26:26Speaker 4: come back from injury as quickly. But I think that's
- 26:29Speaker 4: going to have to become a standard from top to bottom.
- 26:32Speaker 4: I mean, obviously you're not gonna be able to afford
- 26:35Speaker 4: a PT at the high school level, but when you're
- 26:36Speaker 4: talking about pros in college, you're gonna have to start
- 26:39Speaker 4: incorporating this into your conditioning because the human body can
- 26:45Speaker 4: only take so much, and especially at this level, at
- 26:49Speaker 4: this speed and this size. Because again we look fondly
- 26:56Speaker 4: back on you know, the seventies and the eighties and
- 26:59Speaker 4: the nineineties and the iron Curtain of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 27:04Speaker 4: If you were to take the defense of the Pittsburgh
- 27:07Speaker 4: Steelers in the seventies and compare that to any NFL
- 27:11Speaker 4: defense right now, there's probably about one hundred to one
- 27:13Speaker 4: hundred and fifty pounds difference.
- 27:15Speaker 3: Oh absolutely, without questioning the guy and you talk about
- 27:19Speaker 3: I mean in every sport, bigger, faster, stronger guys, and
- 27:22Speaker 3: basketball was that they're jumping higher like that because and again,
- 27:27Speaker 3: the technology that we have to train ourselves is so
- 27:32Speaker 3: much better than it has ever been and that's why
- 27:35Speaker 3: you see these athletes being able to do the things
- 27:37Speaker 3: that they that they can do, but in certain circumstances
- 27:41Speaker 3: the training is outpacing with the body can actually handle it.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean think about this. We have I guess
- 27:52Speaker 4: at this point we have about thirty almost forty years
- 27:55Speaker 4: of data on creating and it's all pretty solid. But
- 28:02Speaker 4: we still don't know necessary and I'm not trying to
- 28:04Speaker 4: I mean, I use it, I believe in it. We
- 28:06Speaker 4: still don't know long term all the effects of all
- 28:11Speaker 4: the supplements people are taking on. What does it do
- 28:14Speaker 4: to your ligaments, what does it due to the muscle tissue,
- 28:16Speaker 4: How does it affect bone structure? Because you know, we
- 28:21Speaker 4: obviously thought HGH was a great thing and it didn't
- 28:24Speaker 4: take long for that to go away, even though it's
- 28:26Speaker 4: still being used. So anyway, bottom line is, yeah, if
- 28:31Speaker 4: you're going to expand the schedule, you're gonna have to
- 28:34Speaker 4: incorporate ways that these bodies can recover. Because I forget
- 28:40Speaker 4: the the Colt's lineman who was doing he was doing
- 28:46Speaker 4: an interview and basically when he was in the last
- 28:48Speaker 4: two years of his career, he didn't even practice Monday
- 28:51Speaker 4: for Wednesday. He showed up on Thursday because his body,
- 28:53Speaker 4: the body, his body just could not function on Sunday
- 28:57Speaker 4: if he had been going through practice for five days
- 29:00Speaker 4: during the m you have.
- 29:01Speaker 3: To be able to rest recuperate. But that's also why
- 29:04Speaker 3: you see certain players like a Lebron James who spends
- 29:09Speaker 3: millions on his body and again whether it's the hyperbaric chamber,
- 29:15Speaker 3: and not everybody can afford that. But that's also how
- 29:17Speaker 3: I agree with you that certain teams need to be
- 29:20Speaker 3: able to help these players in certain aspects of that
- 29:23Speaker 3: also because not everybody is a Lebron James.
- 29:25Speaker 4: I mean, if you're making the investment in these players,
- 29:27Speaker 4: and I know some teams just kind of look them
- 29:30Speaker 4: as disposable assets, but if you're making the investment in
- 29:33Speaker 4: these players because you're winning a championship, you got to
- 29:35Speaker 4: make the investment in all the aspects of conditioning and recovery.
- 29:41Speaker 4: And I really do believe over the next decade it's
- 29:44Speaker 4: going to be the teams that are focusing on that
- 29:45Speaker 4: that you will see can have the longer success and
- 29:48Speaker 4: more importantly, you will see the players that can can
- 29:50Speaker 4: have a longer career. I mean, I know a lot
- 29:54Speaker 4: of it's concussion oriented, but to a tackle Bloa after
- 29:58Speaker 4: last night's game, you and Mike McDaniels pretty much indicated it.
- 30:01Speaker 4: He's probably gonna bench and he's probably on his way out.
- 30:03Speaker 4: And he's twenty seven, and even he's playing like a
- 30:07Speaker 4: thirty seven year old quarterback.
- 30:08Speaker 3: He absolutely is. High school report coming up in just
- 30:12Speaker 3: a second, Jared and I will be back after that.

- 32:36Speaker 13: A high school report on Matt Williams. And today we're
- 32:38Speaker 13: going out to the Polaris Fun Center Full one to
- 32:39Speaker 13: visit with the head girls basketball coach for the Madisonville Mustang.
- 32:42Speaker 13: To Lenick Neely, thank you for joining us.
- 32:44Speaker 3: How are you doing today?
- 32:46Speaker 16: I'm not good.
- 32:48Speaker 13: You've you and your team have struggled a bit so
- 32:50Speaker 13: far this season. What are some areas you think your
- 32:52Speaker 13: team is struggling with the most?
- 32:55Speaker 16: Right now, we're struggling with sighs, a lot. You don't
- 32:58Speaker 16: have a lot of you know, tall people, and we're
- 33:00Speaker 16: definitely struggling. Struggling the area rebounding and rebounding and communication.
- 33:06Speaker 16: A lot of times they want to talk outside basketball,
- 33:08Speaker 16: but then when it comes to the court, were kind
- 33:10Speaker 16: of quiet, you know. So we're struggling in that area,
- 33:13Speaker 16: and I think you could get way better on rebounding
- 33:17Speaker 16: and defense. The defensive areas where I'm worried at.
- 33:21Speaker 13: Yeah, what are some areas that you think your team
- 33:24Speaker 13: is doing well despite the challenges you face so far?
- 33:29Speaker 16: I think that we've overcome so much adversity because you know,
- 33:33Speaker 16: I lost my leading scorer who was averaging like eighteen
- 33:36Speaker 16: points a game. She tore her ato and so I
- 33:40Speaker 16: had somebody else to have to step up. So and
- 33:42Speaker 16: I think that overall, you know, they work really hard,
- 33:45Speaker 16: and they go hard, and they always finish the game.
- 33:48Speaker 16: And I have a couple of good leaders on my team,
- 33:52Speaker 16: two of my returners two and my point guard has
- 33:54Speaker 16: been doing really really well. And I think we've done
- 33:57Speaker 16: well with shooting, but I know that shots on everything.
- 34:02Speaker 16: To me, I just feel like defense and rebounds is
- 34:04Speaker 16: more important. But overall, I think they were playing well
- 34:07Speaker 16: as a team, which is getting better every day, and
- 34:09Speaker 16: they worked really hard, So I can't You can't beat that.
- 34:12Speaker 13: Yeah, absolutely. And you talked a little bit about, you know,
- 34:17Speaker 13: players that have stepped up, who graduated last season that
- 34:20Speaker 13: left the big shoes to fill, and who's stepped up
- 34:22Speaker 13: the season to fill those shoes. Is there anyone that
- 34:24Speaker 13: you'd like to call out, anyone that's been doing really
- 34:25Speaker 13: well or surprised you even, Yes.
- 34:29Speaker 16: Actually my number one her name is Keeley Green and
- 34:32Speaker 16: she's about five to one. But home shooting has been
- 34:36Speaker 16: fabulous this year. Uh she really, she's really been shooting
- 34:39Speaker 16: well from the behind the arc. The three winner. He
- 34:42Speaker 16: at least makes at least like two two threes a game,
- 34:44Speaker 16: and she's really stepped up vocally and she pushes them.
- 34:48Speaker 16: And I also have a return of that. Also our
- 34:50Speaker 16: defensive starter, which is obvious defensive player who is Her
- 34:53Speaker 16: name is Martin Major and she's she's a junior this year,
- 34:57Speaker 16: and so she really gets to start on defense. She
- 35:00Speaker 16: gets us a bunch of steals, she works hard, she
- 35:02Speaker 16: gets us a bunch of offensive rebounds when we do
- 35:04Speaker 16: get them. She's the one who usually works worked hard
- 35:07Speaker 16: for okay. And also I have another one, my senior,
- 35:11Speaker 16: key Maya Done, which is also another shooter. She's been
- 35:14Speaker 16: doing well. She's been doing more than just shooting. She's
- 35:17Speaker 16: dropping to the basket, she's making plays high IQ. So
- 35:21Speaker 16: I got a couple of good a couple of great
- 35:23Speaker 16: players on my team, and I'm very thankful to have
- 35:26Speaker 16: more than two, you know, more than one, more than
- 35:28Speaker 16: one or two.
- 35:28Speaker 3: So yeah.
- 35:29Speaker 13: Absolutely. You talked about, you know, some of the main seniors.
- 35:33Speaker 13: How many seniors do you have on your team this year?
- 35:35Speaker 13: Who's leaving this season that's going to be difficult to replace?
- 35:39Speaker 16: Oh my god, I have I have a big three.
- 35:42Speaker 16: So and my the girl toory THEO, she'll be back.
- 35:45Speaker 16: Her name is Quinetia Safer and she will be She
- 35:47Speaker 16: supposed to coming back in January. And I have the
- 35:50Speaker 16: other two, which is number one Keeley Green, and then
- 35:53Speaker 16: number two, I mean, then number four Key Maya Done,
- 35:56Speaker 16: who's who's going to be graduating. And they've been playing
- 35:58Speaker 16: together since they were little and so I always called
- 36:02Speaker 16: him the Big three three. And so they have been
- 36:05Speaker 16: really good. And they all were freshman on varsity and
- 36:09Speaker 16: so they know what to expect, and they very experienced
- 36:11Speaker 16: and they bring a lot to the games. For placing
- 36:14Speaker 16: them is going to be big, especially when you're losing
- 36:16Speaker 16: your point guard and she's a quarterback.
- 36:18Speaker 13: So yeah, absolutely, Yeah. If you had to choose, which
- 36:21Speaker 13: opponent do you think is given your team the hardest
- 36:23Speaker 13: time this season? And where do you think they challenged
- 36:25Speaker 13: you the most?
- 36:28Speaker 16: The art Well, we had we went to a tournament
- 36:32Speaker 16: in Dallas with all five and six a's, So I
- 36:36Speaker 16: think that was a real circle for it because you know,
- 36:39Speaker 16: in five and six days they have a lot of heights.
- 36:41Speaker 16: So we played a six three girl and man, that
- 36:44Speaker 16: was a challenge. It was hard to stop her because
- 36:46Speaker 16: she was kind of like a you know, like a
- 36:47Speaker 16: KD someone is tall, pull up and three for the
- 36:50Speaker 16: jumper and everything she had all he had an all
- 36:53Speaker 16: around game, so she was really hard to top. So
- 36:54Speaker 16: I think our team that we played in Dallas and
- 36:57Speaker 16: that name was Friendship and she's actually a taken, sick
- 36:59Speaker 16: commit and man, yes, he was very hard to stop,
- 37:02Speaker 16: but he's a great player.
- 37:03Speaker 13: Yeah, you faced rock Wall in your last game. What
- 37:07Speaker 13: do you think went well and where do you think
- 37:09Speaker 13: your team was challenged?
- 37:12Speaker 16: What went well is that I think that we started running.
- 37:15Speaker 16: We started executing our offense and law, and that's another
- 37:19Speaker 16: one of our circles to is executing our offense when
- 37:21Speaker 16: the person is on. And I think that we gave
- 37:24Speaker 16: them a lot of pressures. But it's hard for us
- 37:27Speaker 16: to stop, you know, a girl to attacking. It's hard
- 37:30Speaker 16: for us to slot over right now, and that's what
- 37:32Speaker 16: we're struggling with. And they had a girl that was
- 37:35Speaker 16: going to the high post and attacking every single time,
- 37:37Speaker 16: and even when we tried to crash, we were still tabling.
- 37:39Speaker 16: Then you just need to learn do better with moving
- 37:41Speaker 16: our feet and you know, fundamentally we need to do
- 37:44Speaker 16: better and just going straight up because a lot of
- 37:45Speaker 16: times they tried to be shot blockers and he was
- 37:47Speaker 16: giving us because a good failing. So, yeah, you gotta
- 37:51Speaker 16: play smart.
- 37:52Speaker 13: I got you, you faced Lorena. Next that'll be today.
- 37:57Speaker 16: What are you expecting them already?
- 38:00Speaker 3: You did? Oh?
- 38:01Speaker 13: Well, how did that go?
- 38:02Speaker 16: We ended up losing by I think it was thirteen.
- 38:04Speaker 16: I think that I think they were very beatable. I
- 38:07Speaker 16: think that we came out very very slow, and we
- 38:10Speaker 16: had a we think that versity yesterday and we're trying
- 38:13Speaker 16: to overcome it today with to probably come out later on.
- 38:15Speaker 16: But yeah, I'm not gonna say that it's kind of bad.
- 38:18Speaker 16: I'm not gonna say what really what happened, But yeah,
- 38:20Speaker 16: so we had to talk at Space Adversity this morning
- 38:22Speaker 16: and I had to start of I had to start
- 38:24Speaker 16: up with the new lineup, and we started off really slow,
- 38:26Speaker 16: and we got down Cheno and then I saw the
- 38:28Speaker 16: time out of course, and I think I thought was
- 38:31Speaker 16: bad and you know, you did yourself in the whole.
- 38:32Speaker 16: It's kind of hard to come out. And they were
- 38:34Speaker 16: really they were a good team and they were from
- 38:36Speaker 16: great shooters, and we didn't really get started playing until
- 38:39Speaker 16: the second half, and you know, it's hard to come
- 38:41Speaker 16: back in the second half. But yeah, I hopefully we
- 38:44Speaker 16: get to see him again. I'm gonna say that because
- 38:45Speaker 16: I just felt like that that wasn't a game and
- 38:47Speaker 16: we had to get you to a new lineup, and
- 38:49Speaker 16: you know that was our first day with no practice
- 38:51Speaker 16: without that lineup. So yeah, I think we would do
- 38:54Speaker 16: better if we get to face him again. We might
- 38:56Speaker 16: have a tan to so I'm excited about that.
- 38:58Speaker 13: Yeah, that'll be interesting. For these last couple questions, I
- 39:02Speaker 13: want to pivot to coaching questions. You played as a
- 39:04Speaker 13: forward in college. What experience do you think that time
- 39:06Speaker 13: gave you that has helped you and informed your decisions
- 39:09Speaker 13: as a coach today.
- 39:12Speaker 16: I try to look because me playing as a forward,
- 39:15Speaker 16: I was actually kind of like a shorter forward because
- 39:17Speaker 16: I'm only five to ten. But I was very athletic.
- 39:20Speaker 16: And I look at my team and we have some
- 39:22Speaker 16: very athletic girls and they're shorter, and so that's why
- 39:24Speaker 16: I tell them to thing smarter, not harder. So you
- 39:27Speaker 16: have to use your you have to use your basketball
- 39:30Speaker 16: too when you know, when you're shorter. So with me,
- 39:32Speaker 16: I just try to put them in the best positions
- 39:34Speaker 16: for them, you know, and I know the best positions
- 39:36Speaker 16: for me, which a lot of times that that was
- 39:38Speaker 16: me facing up because I am shorter, and you know,
- 39:41Speaker 16: not trying to do back to basket things, but actually
- 39:43Speaker 16: facing up and trying to take somebody. You know, you
- 39:45Speaker 16: take somebody off the dribble. So I just try to
- 39:47Speaker 16: put them in good positions. And you just taught me
- 39:50Speaker 16: a lot playing Timeme basketball. You just get to see
- 39:53Speaker 16: a lot of different IQs. You get to see people
- 39:55Speaker 16: just like you, and so I tried to I try
- 39:57Speaker 16: to tell them, like you got to do something different
- 39:59Speaker 16: that separate issues from those girls, because somebody's gonna be
- 40:03Speaker 16: just like you or even better, you know what separation here.
- 40:06Speaker 13: Yeah, last question for you here, coach, how do you
- 40:09Speaker 13: as a coach to find success both on and off
- 40:11Speaker 13: the court besides just wins and losses.
- 40:16Speaker 16: It's funny because my mentor my old coach, he just
- 40:20Speaker 16: takes me the other day and told me that it's
- 40:22Speaker 16: not about wins and losses, it's about you know, getting better.
- 40:27Speaker 16: And you know, and I said, I'm I've been frustrated
- 40:30Speaker 16: because we have been struggling this season, but I try
- 40:34Speaker 16: to look at the little things and the growth. So
- 40:36Speaker 16: I you know, if we didn't, say we get our
- 40:39Speaker 16: rebound the last game and we come back and we
- 40:41Speaker 16: our rebounded team the second quarter, you know, I'm happy.
- 40:44Speaker 16: I always try to look for the little things and
- 40:46Speaker 16: it's gonna be a lot of negatives, but you have
- 40:47Speaker 16: to point out the positives because I mean, you don't
- 40:50Speaker 16: want to have a negative, negative team. So I always
- 40:52Speaker 16: try to get the little things. If they're talking, they're switching,
- 40:55Speaker 16: if they're rebound, they were hustling, we're getting back and
- 40:58Speaker 16: putting the ball. I just like to see the good
- 41:00Speaker 16: things out of time.
- 41:01Speaker 13: So you know, yeah, absolutely, very well. Put Thank you
- 41:05Speaker 13: so much for your time.
- 41:07Speaker 16: Thank you, yes, ma'am.

- 42:54Speaker 4: I mean, let's let's just say this from the last
- 42:57Speaker 4: time we were here to present Texan playing pretty dead gum, like, yeah,
- 43:03Speaker 4: this is gonna make actually get them into.
- 43:06Speaker 3: The defense is scary. And if CJ can just like
- 43:10Speaker 3: and I'm not trying to say like be just man,
- 43:11Speaker 3: he's he's going to be more than managible, but like
- 43:13Speaker 3: he as long as he doesn't just give the game

- 43:18Speaker 4: They really are. I Mean, there's a number of AFC

- 43:24Speaker 4: play the Texans, and I don't know, I'm not I
- 43:28Speaker 4: definitely don't think they're they're they're probably gonna get past
- 43:31Speaker 4: the divisional round, but at the standpoint, they could definitely

- 48:29Speaker 3: a whole lot of college football coming up after that.
- 48:31Speaker 3: Have you, I know, I'm the basketball guy here. Have
- 48:35Speaker 3: you watched any NBA.
- 48:38Speaker 4: So I've been compelled just because of how dominant they've
- 48:43Speaker 4: been playing to catch So yeah, okay, because you know, first,
- 48:50Speaker 4: especially early in the season, I'm skepticals, Like, I mean,
- 48:54Speaker 4: come on, it's a two game schedule. What's good. There's
- 48:57Speaker 4: no way they're going to keep this pace up, and
- 48:59Speaker 4: then they keep that pace.
- 49:01Speaker 3: And then keeping the pace up as far as the wins.
- 49:03Speaker 3: They're twenty four and two right now. But also something
- 49:04Speaker 3: else you said, like their margin of victory is unreal.
- 49:08Speaker 4: Yah, it's I mean we're talking in excess of twenty
- 49:11Speaker 4: to thirty points per game.
- 49:12Speaker 3: I mean SGA and.
- 49:14Speaker 4: Here's and here's the other thing. This is not like
- 49:18Speaker 4: the mid twenty teen Golden State Warriors where they're just
- 49:24Speaker 4: shooting a bunch of threes from down. You know, it's
- 49:26Speaker 4: all it's all Steph and Clay shooting threes. I mean,
- 49:29Speaker 4: they're playing and they're not playing overly aggressive defense. They're
- 49:32Speaker 4: just really good at getting steals and scoring.
- 49:35Speaker 3: He is, and I'm looking I was looking at SGA
- 49:37Speaker 3: right now as averaging thirty two point four points a game,
- 49:40Speaker 3: and he hasn't played in twelve fourth quarters. That's right
- 49:44Speaker 3: out of their tent. They're twenty four and two, so
- 49:46Speaker 3: they played twenty six games and he hasn't played in
- 49:48Speaker 3: twelve whole fourth quarters and he is averaging thirty two
- 49:52Speaker 3: points a game.
- 49:52Speaker 4: That it is. It is an insane pace. And we
- 49:56Speaker 4: were talking about this in the pre game, and I
- 49:58Speaker 4: pose it to you and and I mean, I know
- 50:00Speaker 4: this is duh. I asked, can they do eighty And
- 50:05Speaker 4: as you pointed out, that means they would have to
- 50:06Speaker 4: win every game from here on.
- 50:08Speaker 3: Yeah, right now they are twenty four and two their
- 50:09Speaker 3: eighty two games in the season. That would mean that
- 50:12Speaker 3: they would win the rest of their games from here on. App,
- 50:15Speaker 3: I think realistically, the seventy three mark is absolutely something
- 50:20Speaker 3: they could go for. I could see seventy, like we
- 50:23Speaker 3: talked about, I could see them getting as high as
- 50:24Speaker 3: seventy six and going seventy six and six not losing
- 50:29Speaker 3: another game for their.
- 50:31Speaker 4: That is I mean, that's that's just all that's asking for.
- 50:34Speaker 3: But like when you look at their their again, their
- 50:37Speaker 3: margin of victory, how they're playing, how deep they are,
- 50:40Speaker 3: like they just got Jaylen Williams like they And.
- 50:43Speaker 4: That's that is the difference, because when you look at
- 50:47Speaker 4: you know, when you look at these other teams that
- 50:50Speaker 4: you know, on back nights they have back to back
- 50:53Speaker 4: to backs, they're they're sitting guys, and I mean and
- 50:56Speaker 4: obviously that affects us the flow of the game and
- 50:58Speaker 4: in the scoring margin and all a lot of cases
- 51:00Speaker 4: they end up, you know, giving a game away to
- 51:03Speaker 4: a team that definitely shouldn't lose to okase, he just
- 51:08Speaker 4: does not have that problem because, as you point out,
- 51:13Speaker 4: Sga doesn't have to play in the fourth quarter and
- 51:15Speaker 4: they're still winning by twenty to thirty. If I don't
- 51:18Speaker 4: know if he would take a night off, but if
- 51:19Speaker 4: he does take the night off, you've got enough on
- 51:21Speaker 4: the bench to make up that difference.
- 51:23Speaker 3: And the other part of it. And they said this
- 51:25Speaker 3: last year, like they were there last year, they were
- 51:28Speaker 3: one of the youngest teams ever to win the championship.
- 51:30Speaker 3: Youngest and that's what Alex Caruso like, he what is
- 51:34Speaker 3: he third? Is he even thirty?
- 51:36Speaker 4: Now he has to be I think he is, but even.
- 51:39Speaker 3: But everybody else he's they call him the old guy
- 51:44Speaker 3: on their team at thirty. Shay Sga is twenty four,
- 51:48Speaker 3: So like that's something.
- 51:49Speaker 4: That Ched Holmgreen's what twenty Caruso is thirty one.
- 51:53Speaker 3: Thirty one, and he thank you for that, And he's
- 51:55Speaker 3: the oldest on their team.
- 51:56Speaker 4: Yeah, chedholm Green, I believe it's only twenty.
- 52:00Speaker 3: Three because yeah, he's younger than SG like they And
- 52:02Speaker 3: so that's why I'm not as worried about fatigue at
- 52:07Speaker 3: the end of the sea physical fatigue. Why I don't
- 52:10Speaker 3: think they can go.
- 52:12Speaker 4: Because they're because they're not playing like the Detroit Piston
- 52:16Speaker 4: style defense, for it is so physical and so taxic.
- 52:19Speaker 4: I mean, they're just they're really good at blocks, steels
- 52:22Speaker 4: and then scoring on the transition.
- 52:24Speaker 3: Backside help backside steels like they their team defense like, yeah,
- 52:28Speaker 3: it's not We're not trying to grind it out with you.
- 52:31Speaker 3: We're trying to get up and down. And that's why
- 52:32Speaker 3: they think about the youth and the depth to be
- 52:35Speaker 3: able to do that. And so that's why I don't
- 52:37Speaker 3: think it's a physical toll that will be taken on them.
- 52:41Speaker 3: It's just the mental toll of playing at that level
- 52:46Speaker 3: for all eighty two games, all eighty two game. That's
- 52:49Speaker 3: why I'm like, seventy five, I think they'll beat seventy three,
- 52:52Speaker 3: seventy four, seventy five, even seventy six I think could
- 52:55Speaker 3: be a very realistic goal for them, And that may
- 52:58Speaker 3: be something that keeps them into it late in the
- 53:02Speaker 3: season when they have already locked up the one seed
- 53:05Speaker 3: and they like, what else, what else are we playing for? No?
- 53:08Speaker 3: We've got something else to play for, and so heck,
- 53:11Speaker 3: it may be to a point to where they're looking
- 53:15Speaker 3: at it, and then maybe they are maybe they are
- 53:17Speaker 3: at seventy five wins and they still only got three
- 53:22Speaker 3: losses and they're looking at seventy and they wouldn't make
- 53:25Speaker 3: it to eight cause, but getting to seventy nine, like
- 53:28Speaker 3: that'll put the record so.
- 53:30Speaker 4: Far out of reach that would be incredibly.
- 53:34Speaker 3: No, because again, if they go heck, even if they
- 53:38Speaker 3: go seventy eight and four or seventy nine and three,
- 53:41Speaker 3: do you think another team is going to come along
- 53:42Speaker 3: ago eighty and two?
- 53:44Speaker 4: Not I mean not probably not in our lifetime, but
- 53:47Speaker 4: definitely not for another decade.
- 53:49Speaker 3: No, at least another decade, if not longer. So that
- 53:52Speaker 3: could be something that they would play like. I could
- 53:54Speaker 3: see that being like, Okay, how far out of reach
- 53:57Speaker 3: can we put this to where everybody will be recognized? Now,
- 54:01Speaker 3: the only other thing about that is hope, Like, as
- 54:05Speaker 3: people know what the Warriors that they won seventy three,
- 54:09Speaker 3: but nobody pays attention to it because they didn't win
- 54:11Speaker 3: the championship, And that would be the other thing that
- 54:16Speaker 3: I wonder where the level of Hey, when do we
- 54:22Speaker 3: turn this off, and when can we turn it back on?
- 54:24Speaker 3: Because that may be the reason why they want to
- 54:26Speaker 3: push for everything that they can also so that they
- 54:28Speaker 3: are always running on that high cylinder each time.
- 54:32Speaker 4: I mean, when you look at the West, and granted
- 54:36Speaker 4: the Lakers are playing significantly better San Antonio, Winby's coming
- 54:42Speaker 4: back and they're playing at a high level, and then
- 54:45Speaker 4: so getting out of the West, it's still going to
- 54:48Speaker 4: be tough to find someone someone at this point, assuming
- 54:52Speaker 4: everyone stays healthy, everything stays equal right now, that's going
- 54:56Speaker 4: to really challenge them. So if they do make the
- 54:59Speaker 4: finals and they're playing you know, conceivably, I mean it
- 55:06Speaker 4: might be the Knicks this year.
- 55:08Speaker 3: There is only so coming out of the West, there's
- 55:10Speaker 3: the San Antonio Spurs are the only ones that can
- 55:12Speaker 3: challenge them because they're young enough and they have someone
- 55:16Speaker 3: in women Yama that is a factor that they don't
- 55:20Speaker 3: the Oklahoma City like Chet Holmgren can't no be he
- 55:24Speaker 3: is not victim wim Minyama and he can't well he
- 55:26Speaker 3: can't factor he can't factor that out.
- 55:28Speaker 4: He can't factor that out. But I also go back
- 55:31Speaker 4: to the fact they're going to be playing in a
- 55:32Speaker 4: seven game series. I feel I almost feel like, okay,
- 55:36Speaker 4: see could at least figure something out. Oh I am
- 55:40Speaker 4: a majority of those in a one game sample, I think.
- 55:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I and and I say that I think I
- 55:46Speaker 3: think San Antonio is the only team that can challenge them.
- 55:49Speaker 3: I don't think that they would beat them in a
- 55:51Speaker 3: seven game series, but I think san Antonio looking at
- 55:53Speaker 3: the West right now, san Antonio is the only team
- 55:55Speaker 3: that could that can challenge them, because I don't even
- 55:57Speaker 3: think Denver can right now.
- 55:58Speaker 4: I was gonna say, I mean, if if Denver had
- 56:03Speaker 4: more to help out Joe Kitch, maybe, but when he
- 56:07Speaker 4: comes off the floor.
- 56:08Speaker 3: They've gotten that team is just he's having to do
- 56:12Speaker 3: so much right now, it's not even funny. We've got
- 56:15Speaker 3: a whole lot of college football to talk about when
- 56:18Speaker 3: we come back after the after the next hour, And
- 56:20Speaker 3: I am excited about it because I mean, when have
- 56:24Speaker 3: we been in the CFP.
- 56:26Speaker 4: When have we been in studio during Christmas?
- 56:29Speaker 3: That's all.
- 56:29Speaker 4: I was walking up here and I saw the Christmas decorations, like.
- 56:32Speaker 3: I don't know if I this is here?
- 56:33Speaker 4: So this is yeah, this is this is why I
- 56:37Speaker 4: wanted to fill in because of this right.
