• 2:23
  Speaker 5: How are you.
• 2:25
Speaker 6: Good morning, Dave. I'm doing well. How about yourself?
• 2:27
Speaker 3: Thank you? I am doing fine. Thank you for taking
• 2:29
Speaker 3: time out of your schedule to be here. I want
• 2:31
Speaker 3: to start right off the top. We had Morgan Tenny
• 2:34
Speaker 3: from the Putnam County Development Authority on the show yesterday
• 2:37
Speaker 3: thora talking about the recent announcement of four hundred plus
• 2:41
Speaker 3: units coming to Hurricane. But it's about more than just
• 2:44
Speaker 3: buying homes. When we talk about this need for housing
• 2:48
Speaker 3: in the Kanau Valley, I mean the folks of Advantage
• 2:50
Speaker 3: Valley did a study and said that we need a
• 2:53
Speaker 3: lot of housing here. But sometimes it's not all just
• 2:57
Speaker 3: houses to buy. Sometimes it's houses to rent or to
• 3:00
Speaker 3: lease or whatever. Talk about some of your company's residential rental.
• 3:04
Speaker 6: Services, absolutely, Dave. Yeah, So first off, I just want
• 3:09
Speaker 6: to reiterate how excited we are with war communities coming
• 3:16
Speaker 6: in to do some of development with the Hurricane property
• 3:22
Speaker 6: and everything that Morgan's done to bring them here as
• 3:26
Speaker 6: well as the state. So we're excited about that. But yeah, residentially,
• 3:30
Speaker 6: we just came off of a major migration season. Obviously,
• 3:34
Speaker 6: we see a lot of moving and shaking in the
• 3:36
Speaker 6: summer and everyone getting settled in before school starts back
• 3:40
Speaker 6: up and in the flow of things, so we see
• 3:44
Speaker 6: a lot of acclamation to the properties as well as
• 3:49
Speaker 6: new inventory hit the market, coming off the market, all
• 3:51
Speaker 6: those good things. And then we also do a lot
• 3:54
Speaker 6: of student housing in the Huntington market, so we do
• 3:56
Speaker 6: see a lot of our students coming in during the
• 3:59
Speaker 6: months of June and July and August, so we we
• 4:03
Speaker 6: have a pretty big influx of new faces in the summer.
• 4:07
Speaker 3: I do want to talk about that. I'm grad thor
• 4:09
Speaker 3: that you brought that up about the housing situation in Huntington,
• 4:12
Speaker 3: because we you know, have had folks on from marsh
• 4:14
Speaker 3: University in the past, and we had one of our
• 4:16
Speaker 3: broadcast partners down there on the on the from from
• 4:19
Speaker 3: the Huntington market on the Midday show last week and
• 4:22
Speaker 3: he was talking about that there. I mean, I guess
• 4:24
Speaker 3: it's a good problem to have, you know that there
• 4:27
Speaker 3: seems to be some housing issues down there, but you
• 4:30
Speaker 3: guys certainly got a lot of properties in there. What made
• 4:33
Speaker 3: you decide to want to get into the housing market
• 4:35
Speaker 3: or the rentals and things of that nature in the
• 4:37
Speaker 3: Huntington area around Marshall.
• 4:39
Speaker 6: Yeah, we do things that we're going on at the university,
• 4:42
Speaker 6: and we try to stay in touch and keep our
• 4:44
Speaker 6: finger on the market as best as possible. And with Huntington,
• 4:47
Speaker 6: we're seeing such a great kind of reverb with everything
• 4:51
Speaker 6: that the President Smith's doing and the commitments that we're
• 4:54
Speaker 6: seeing in other sectors in the community. So we knew
• 4:58
Speaker 6: that that was going to bring some new energy to
• 5:02
Speaker 6: the community as well as the local residential needs. So
• 5:08
Speaker 6: jumping on that and being able to provide service down
• 5:11
Speaker 6: there as well as investment is one of those things
• 5:13
Speaker 6: that we knew were going to happen. So we've been
• 5:15
Speaker 6: down there pretty heavily for the last eight nine years
• 5:19
Speaker 6: and it seems to continue to grow every month and
• 5:23
Speaker 6: every year for us.
• 5:24
Speaker 3: I mean, there are some exciting things going on right
• 5:26
Speaker 3: now in Huntington. I mean, there really really are. And
• 5:28
  Speaker 3: I'm a little biased because I'm a Marshall guy, but
• 5:31
  Speaker 3: it's amazing I mean the growth. I mean I was
• 5:34
Speaker 3: a student there at Marshall in the early nineteen nineties,
• 5:36
Speaker 3: like one hundred years ago. And when you go back
• 5:39
Speaker 3: and you look and you compare what Marshall University was
• 5:42
Speaker 3: like when I first arrived on campus in August of
• 5:45
Speaker 3: nineteen ninety compared to what it is in August twenty
• 5:47
Speaker 3: twenty five. Man, it's like a totally different world.
• 5:50
Speaker 6: It is. It's amazing, you know. And the same for me,
• 5:52
Speaker 6: alumni down there, was super fortunate to be in the
• 5:55
Speaker 6: athletics department as well and just have such a encouraging
• 6:01
Speaker 6: outlook on the future and just so we're always we're
• 6:04
Speaker 6: able to see the you know, the benefits of that
• 6:07
Speaker 6: university and its proximity. But men, the things that are
• 6:11
Speaker 6: happening down there are now are incredible.
• 6:13
Speaker 3: Talking again with Thor Menks, it is nine thirteen The
• 6:15
Speaker 3: Dave Island Show in five Any Live is brought to
• 6:17
Speaker 3: you in part by Bridge Valley, offering custom tailored training
• 6:20
Speaker 3: to suppli askill of graduates and apprenticeship for your company.
• 6:22
Speaker 3: Visit Bridge Valley dot e edu. Let's switch the page
• 6:26
Speaker 3: over a little bit. Turned the page if you will,
• 6:28
Speaker 3: and go to commercial rentals. I mean, it's an exciting
• 6:31
Speaker 3: time in the world of residences, but to also you
• 6:34
Speaker 3: can get a lot of commercial rentals. You're trying to
• 6:35
Speaker 3: get to tenants for too as well.
• 6:37
Speaker 6: Right listen, commercial, you know, that's one of my favorite
• 6:41
Speaker 6: sectors that we get to dabble in. But it's absolutely
• 6:45
Speaker 6: one of the most encouraging times that we've seen here
• 6:49
Speaker 6: in the Kenall Valley really Putnam County specifically, in people
• 6:54
Speaker 6: wanting to be in business here in our county, in
• 6:59
Speaker 6: Putnam Counting specifically, and we have a very limited market
• 7:06
Speaker 6: when it comes to a of good fits of commercial property.
• 7:11
Speaker 6: So you know, when it comes to commercial property, we're
• 7:13
Speaker 6: talking everything from retail to to light industrial to industrial.
• 7:19
Speaker 6: New Core has really amped up the need for some
• 7:23
Speaker 6: of that light industrial to industrial property some of their
• 7:26
Speaker 6: sectors and off shoes that they have coming in. But
• 7:29
Speaker 6: you know, ultimately, even outside of that, people just want
• 7:32
Speaker 6: to live and work where you know, work where they live,
• 7:35
Speaker 6: and we're fortunate to be able to provide some of
• 7:38
Speaker 6: those spaces and try to keep the inventory fresh and new.
• 7:42
Speaker 6: And you know, some new development that's happening with Meeks
• 7:45
Speaker 6: Mountain Trails. We have a great new development that's happening,
• 7:48
Speaker 6: and we'll have about one hundred thousand square fit of
• 7:50
Speaker 6: additional retail hub and office space. So we're excited.
• 7:55
Speaker 3: Talk about Meeks Mountain Trails. I mean, you know, that's
• 7:58
  Speaker 3: something that I don't want to say it's a hidden
• 8:00
Speaker 3: gym because it's one national awards, But this is something
• 8:03
Speaker 3: that is just right down the road from us that
• 8:05
Speaker 3: a lot of folks may not be familiar with the
• 8:07
Speaker 3: investment that you folks and the county and others have
• 8:10
Speaker 3: put into Meeks Mountain Trails. Talk about that entire project,
• 8:14
Speaker 3: what it's meant to the area.
• 8:16
Speaker 6: Yeah, absolutely, So that investment is all community based. That
• 8:20
Speaker 6: investment is hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of hours and
• 8:24
Speaker 6: hundreds of volunteers coming together on a piece of property
• 8:28
Speaker 6: that we're very fortunate to own that makes up about
• 8:31
Speaker 6: six hundred acres and connects to our city park. And
• 8:36
Speaker 6: what came from that was a community ownership in that
• 8:41
Speaker 6: land and a community ownership in these trails. So we
• 8:43
Speaker 6: have over thirty two miles of hiking, biking and walking trails.
• 8:46
Speaker 6: We're averaging over seven hundred and fifty people a day
• 8:49
Speaker 6: on these trails and it's really become an economic driver.
• 8:54
Speaker 6: So it's cost us zero dollars, zero commitment from any
• 9:00
Speaker 6: of our any tax dollars or anything along those lines.
• 9:03
Speaker 6: So this is community based. We've seen the product come
• 9:08
Speaker 6: from this as such, an ownership in the trails and
• 9:13
Speaker 6: the sustainability of the trails because they were community built.
• 9:16
Speaker 6: So we're very fortunate to have those in our backyard and.
• 9:19
Speaker 3: Talk about what people can experience when they get on
• 9:21
Speaker 3: the trails because there's a variety of different things that
• 9:24
Speaker 3: they can do on the trail system itself, for absolutely.
• 9:27
Speaker 6: So again, you can hike, you can bike, you can walk,
• 9:32
Speaker 6: there's different levels to each trail. It's very well marked,
• 9:38
Speaker 6: it's very accessible parking. You know, get out of your
• 9:41
Speaker 6: car and head straight onto the trails. Every level of
• 9:47
Speaker 6: expertise is definitely able to get on those trails and
• 9:50
Speaker 6: enjoy it. And then you know, as soon as you
• 9:52
Speaker 6: get off the trails, you can either ride or walk
• 9:54
Speaker 6: back home, or if you're not from the area, you're
• 9:56
Speaker 6: able to just pack up and get to bike deep
• 9:58
Speaker 6: before you head out of town.
• 10:00
Speaker 3: And you got certainly a lot of great restaurant options
• 10:02
Speaker 3: there in the Greater Tays Valley area and a lot
• 10:07
Speaker 3: of motels. Even more are being planned, you know for
• 10:09
Speaker 3: the area. So some some exciting stuff that's going on.
• 10:12
Speaker 3: I want to go back to some of your properties
• 10:14
Speaker 3: that you have here momentarily as we close it out,
• 10:16
Speaker 3: I'm going to kind of put you on the spot.
• 10:17
Speaker 3: Is there one particular property residential or commercial just off
• 10:23
Speaker 3: the top of your head that you can think of
• 10:25
Speaker 3: it you really want to put in the spotlight today.
• 10:28
Speaker 6: Yeah, So there's one particular property that we have on
• 10:31
Speaker 6: the market right now. It's on Tayese Valley Road here
• 10:33
Speaker 6: in Putnam County. It is a Class A medical office.
• 10:37
Speaker 6: It's a right shy of four thousand square feet Class
• 10:40
Speaker 6: A again ready to move into. We have a this
• 10:45
Speaker 6: is a multi tenant building. Your your co tenant in
• 10:48
Speaker 6: this building is West Virginia University Medicine. So it is
• 10:53
Speaker 6: ready to rock and roll. So if anybody's looking for
• 10:55
Speaker 6: some medical space that is Class A, this is a
• 10:59
  Speaker 6: great spot.

• 14:05
Speaker 3: I am doing fine? What's new with you? We've got

Speaker 3: a lot of things politically we can talk about and
• 14:11
Speaker 3: we'll get to that. But what's new with you? Personally?
• 14:13
Speaker 12: Okay, personally, I do have two announcements. The first one
• 14:15
Speaker 12: is I impulse bought a twelve foot skeleton at home
• 14:18
Speaker 12: Depot the other day.
• 14:20
Speaker 10: They have more. They're very cool.
• 14:22
Speaker 12: Whenever I'm outdoor knocking, I love running into twelve foot
• 14:25
Speaker 12: skeletons because they're holy. I mean, they're massive and they're hilarious.
• 14:28
Speaker 3: Okay, right, twelve foot skeleton.
• 14:30
Speaker 12: Yeah. The other thing has to do with the Capitol
• 14:32
Speaker 12: and also Logan County, where we both hail from. Remember
• 14:37
Speaker 12: the big piece of coal that was in Mitchell Heights
• 14:40
Speaker 12: in front of my grandma's house. If you're driving through
• 14:43
Speaker 12: Logan the old way, not on the highway, you drive
• 14:46
Speaker 12: right by my grandma's house. She had a big piece
• 14:47
Speaker 12: of coal in her front yard. We have donated that
• 14:50
Speaker 12: to the state and it's going to be featured in
• 14:53
  Speaker 12: the new Outdoor.
• 14:54
Speaker 10: Exhibit Cool at the Culture Center.
• 14:56
Speaker 12: So I'm not sure when that piece of it opens,
• 14:58
Speaker 12: but I'm excited that they're going to be a piece
• 15:00
Speaker 12: of Logan County coal at the Capitol.
• 15:02
Speaker 3: I haven't been by the new things going on at
• 15:07
Speaker 3: the Capitol. I was actually actually I was there, and
• 15:09
Speaker 3: I think I saw you there. The last time I
• 15:10
Speaker 3: was at the Capitol, it's been a couple months, was
• 15:12
Speaker 3: at Doug Scaff's wake, and I saw that they were
• 15:14
Speaker 3: doing some work there. But I haven't had an opportunity
• 15:17
Speaker 3: to make it back over to the Capitol. I know
• 15:19
Speaker 3: that there have been a lot of stuff going on there.
• 15:21
Speaker 12: Yeah, so it's an outdoor it's a natural resources exhibit
• 15:24
Speaker 12: at the Capitol showing off all the great resources West
• 15:27
  Speaker 12: Virginia House.
• 15:27
Speaker 10: So we were excited to donate.
• 15:29
Speaker 3: The coal, all right. And also I got to throw
• 15:31
Speaker 3: out there since you brought up La and I, you know,
• 15:34
Speaker 3: before I had an opportunity to. Now, Mark Hatcher is
• 15:38
Speaker 3: your he's my cousin. Your cousin, Mark Catcher, Logan High
• 15:41
Speaker 3: basketball coach, is about to be aducted in the Logani
• 15:44
Speaker 3: Hall of Fame next Thursday night. You are going to
• 15:46
Speaker 3: be there. I'm going to be there serving as MC.
• 15:48
Speaker 3: I do it every year for the folks at the
• 15:50
Speaker 3: Logan Country Club. So but they got to hurry it
• 15:52
Speaker 3: along because I mean it'll start about you know, six
• 15:56
Speaker 3: or six thirty. That's opening night for the Cowboys. And
• 16:00
Speaker 3: your cousin, Mark and his brother Chase, both huge Cowboy fans.
• 16:04
Speaker 3: I'm a Cowboys fan, So let's get through the pomp
• 16:06
Speaker 3: and circumstance and get this thing go rolling, because I
• 16:08
Speaker 3: got to be back out on the road to at
• 16:10
Speaker 3: least listen to the game on the radio when the
• 16:11
Speaker 3: Cowboys beat the Eagles. So let's just make sure we
• 16:15
Speaker 3: hurry this thing along when we're down there.
• 16:16
Speaker 10: Okay, go sports, it's Joe's sports. I hope they all
• 16:20
Speaker 10: have fun sports ball.
• 16:22
Speaker 3: Yes, all right, let's get serious. Let's talk about PEIA.
• 16:26
Speaker 3: Brad wrote about it last Thursday. The governor has got
• 16:30
Speaker 3: a four point proposal for changes to PEIA. Now, we're
• 16:33
Speaker 3: told the governor and had several meetings with certain legislators
• 16:36
Speaker 3: about his proposed changes. The four points are reportedly to
• 16:40
Speaker 3: remove coverage eligibility for spouses who are offered health insurance
• 16:43
Speaker 3: through their own employer. A new plan would have to
• 16:46
Speaker 3: be established, as now the state operates on an eighty
• 16:50
Speaker 3: twenty split. That would change to seventy five twenty five.
• 16:54
Speaker 3: Would also be a new PEIA fraud unit put in place,
• 16:57
Speaker 3: and finally, some greater leverage of farm to see benefit
• 17:00
Speaker 3: managers negotiating on drug price, especially the Zimpik was one
• 17:04
Speaker 3: of those. It was mentioned just a few other things overall.
• 17:07
Speaker 12: Your take, so, yeah, I think this is trying to
• 17:10
Speaker 12: be sold to people as a fix to peia. I
• 17:13
Speaker 12: don't know that this is much of a fix for
• 17:15
Speaker 12: those listening. One in eight West Virginians have pias. Their
• 17:18
Speaker 12: health insurance coverage is about two hundred thirty thousand people
• 17:21
Speaker 12: here in West Virginia, so it affects a lot of folks.
• 17:24
Speaker 12: I think some of that stuff is fine. I think
• 17:26
Speaker 12: the greater leverage is a good thing for lowering drug prices.
• 17:30
Speaker 12: But I do wonder if we're kicking people off of
• 17:32
Speaker 12: the plan if that really changes how we're able to
• 17:36
Speaker 12: leverage that. You would think with a smaller pool we
• 17:38
Speaker 12: wouldn't be able to leverage to get better prices.
• 17:40
  Speaker 10: But I hope.
• 17:41
Speaker 12: That I'm wrong in that piece. I mean, I think
• 17:44
Speaker 12: anything we can do to reduce fraud is a good
• 17:46
Speaker 12: thing always. I would say both of those pieces probably
• 17:49
Speaker 12: don't require legislation, So.
• 17:52
Speaker 10: I don't know on that piece.
• 17:54
Speaker 12: The changing the split from eighty twenty to seventy five
• 17:57
Speaker 12: to twenty five, so it used to be ninety ten.
• 17:59
Speaker 12: It was ninety ten for a very long time. The
• 18:01
Speaker 12: price of PI ballooned, and the legislature nobody took care
• 18:04
Speaker 12: of it. We kicked the can down the road for
• 18:06
Speaker 12: a long time before I was there. And so then
• 18:09
Speaker 12: they came in and said, we've really got to do something.
• 18:11
Speaker 12: They went from ninety ten to eighty twenty. They said,
• 18:13
Speaker 12: this is the fix. We do this, We're good. Now
• 18:16
Speaker 12: we're reducing it even more so. It's it's almost like
• 18:19
Speaker 12: a where does it end kind of a thing for me.
• 18:21
Speaker 12: I think it's new employees would go to seventy five
• 18:23
Speaker 12: twenty five. People that are already on it would stay
• 18:26
Speaker 12: at the eighty twenty, but their premiums are through the
• 18:28
Speaker 12: roof already. Their deductibles went up forty percent this year alone.
• 18:32
Speaker 12: Copays doubled, tripled. People can't afford this, and we didn't
• 18:35
  Speaker 12: do raises.
• 18:36
Speaker 3: Well, and we talk about kicking the can. And listeners
• 18:39
Speaker 3: have heard me tell this story. When we celebrated Metro
• 18:42
Speaker 3: news as anniversary a couple of years ago, fortieth anniversary
• 18:45
Speaker 3: of the Metro News a couple of weeks ago, I
• 18:47
Speaker 3: should say, we had George Manahan on the show and
• 18:49
Speaker 3: we went back in time and we played one of
• 18:51
Speaker 3: the you know, in early newscasts. And it was interesting
• 18:54
Speaker 3: to me that in that newscast, and this was nineteen
• 18:57
Speaker 3: eighty five or maybe early eighty six, not exactly the
• 19:00
Speaker 3: sure the day, mister Manahan as the news guy, was
• 19:03
Speaker 3: talking at that time about PEIA. Wow, and it's like, wow,
• 19:07
Speaker 3: that was either you know, thirty nine forty years ago,
• 19:10
Speaker 3: and here we are in twenty twenty five, del again
• 19:12
Speaker 3: and we're still talking about PIA.
• 19:14
  Speaker 6: Yeah.
• 19:14
Speaker 12: I mean, I would say, we have a broken healthcare
• 19:16
Speaker 12: system in this country that doesn't really work well for
• 19:18
Speaker 12: anyone no matter what. So I think we're always going
• 19:20
Speaker 12: to be talking about it.
• 19:21
Speaker 3: Some legislators have said that it would be a hard
• 19:26
Speaker 3: sell that and in regardless of party, you know, some
• 19:30
  Speaker 3: Republicans have said I can't, I can't sell this to
• 19:34
Speaker 3: my people. Yeah, so you would you would say, what, well, what's.
• 19:37
Speaker 12: It doing for people that are on PA. Now those
• 19:40
Speaker 12: people are the ones we're hearing from, and they're the
• 19:42
Speaker 12: ones saying I can't afford this. Everything is going up, up, up.
• 19:46
Speaker 12: It's gone up fifteen percent every year. Your premiums have
• 19:48
Speaker 12: gone up fifteen percent every year. They're going to keep
• 19:50
Speaker 12: going up fifteen percent every year, plus deductibles going up
• 19:54
Speaker 12: forty percent. This is doing nothing to help those people
• 19:57
Speaker 12: at all. This is just other change, right, So I
• 20:01
Speaker 12: don't know who this is for really, other than saving
• 20:04
  Speaker 12: the state money.
• 20:06
Speaker 3: Well, and you know, one of the I don't know
• 20:08
Speaker 3: if if perks is the right word, but that's probably
• 20:11
Speaker 3: not the right word. If one of the benefits. People
• 20:13
Speaker 3: have said about, you know, being a state employee, and
• 20:16
Speaker 3: we have a bunch of openings in state government we
• 20:18
Speaker 3: can't that we can't fill. And you know, when you
• 20:21
Speaker 3: talk about PIA and state employees, everybody automatically thinks teachers,
• 20:24
Speaker 3: but there's a whole lot of other you know, a
• 20:26
Speaker 3: whole lot of other professions of falling them that banner.
• 20:29
Speaker 3: One of the benefits has always been, well, you know,
• 20:32
Speaker 3: you don't necessarily get paid as much as the private sector,
• 20:35
Speaker 3: but your benefits are good. But the holidays and so
• 20:38
Speaker 3: on and so forth. But you know, we're hearing that
• 20:40
Speaker 3: the benefits ain't what they used to be.
• 20:42
Speaker 10: They're not. Yeah, they're not at all.
• 20:44
Speaker 12: We got rid of the we got rid of civil
• 20:46
Speaker 12: service protections this year for most state employees. The benefits
• 20:50
Speaker 12: are not what they used to be. The pay is
• 20:51
Speaker 12: still bad. We're not doing enough for our state workers,
• 20:54
Speaker 12: and I wonder, I wonder how we're going to keep going.
• 20:56
Speaker 12: I think a large percentage of our state workers and
• 21:00
Speaker 12: people on PI are of an older generation, and they're
• 21:03
Speaker 12: going to be retiring soon. It's not an attractive job
• 21:06
Speaker 12: for most younger people. Most people don't think I want
• 21:09
Speaker 12: to grow up and work in state government. I hope
• 21:11
Speaker 12: they do, because we really need public We really really
• 21:14
Speaker 12: need great public servants. But I value those people a lot,
• 21:18
Speaker 12: but we're not offering them much at this point, and
• 21:21
Speaker 12: the benefits are getting worse.
• 21:23
Speaker 3: Special Session, what are you hearing?
• 21:25
  Speaker 10: Question? Mark?
• 21:25
  Speaker 4: Right?
• 21:26
Speaker 10: I mean you said it yourself. People don't think they
• 21:28
  Speaker 10: can sell this.
• 21:29
Speaker 12: I if I had to bet right now, I'd say,
• 21:31
Speaker 12: I don't think it happens in September, Okay, all right.
• 21:34
  Speaker 10: I would be.
• 21:34
Speaker 12: Interested to see if vaccines come up again, though, because
• 21:37
Speaker 12: I mean, the governor keeps talking about.
• 21:38
Speaker 3: Those, all right, and there is a lot of talk
• 21:40
Speaker 3: about vaccines, so of course, you know they There was
• 21:43
Speaker 3: a hearing down in Raleigh County yesterday and there was
• 21:47
Speaker 3: the you know, the the the bundling, for lack of
• 21:50
Speaker 3: a better term, putting the cases, the two religious exemption
• 21:53
  Speaker 3: cases together.
• 21:56
Speaker 10: Did that happen? I saw the ag asket for.
• 21:58
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, okay, yeah, And so that's I mean, it's
• 22:02
Speaker 3: not to be all end all's not done yet. But
• 22:05
Speaker 3: but but we're still we're talking about vaccines and there
• 22:07
Speaker 3: seems to be a divide here between the state Board
• 22:09
Speaker 3: of Education, major divide and the governor and people are
• 22:14
Speaker 3: going back and forth and back and forth on this thing.
• 22:16
Speaker 3: Where are you on that?
• 22:17
Speaker 12: I mean, and between the legislature and the governor. Right,
• 22:19
Speaker 12: we killed that bill on the floor. It died, So
• 22:22
Speaker 12: I mean, we don't want it. The people of West
• 22:24
Speaker 12: Virginia don't want it, Our constituents don't want it. The
• 22:27
Speaker 12: governor and I guess Secretary Kennedy at HHS seemed to
• 22:31
Speaker 12: be the only the only ones who do really in
• 22:33
Speaker 12: a in a vocal minority group of people.
• 22:36
Speaker 3: And there seemed to be some concern from a lot
• 22:39
Speaker 3: of people about mister Kennedy getting involved in this in
• 22:42
Speaker 3: West Virginia and the state's issue.
• 22:43
Speaker 12: You would say to that, what I mean, I guess
• 22:46
Speaker 12: you can kind of comment on whatever he wants to.
• 22:48
Speaker 12: I don't know that he typically has commented on other
• 22:50
Speaker 12: things so I think it's kind of bizarre. But I
• 22:53
Speaker 12: guess with Senator Stuart potentially going to work for him,
• 22:56
  Speaker 12: maybe that's the connection. I don't I don't know why
• 22:59
Speaker 12: he's got the time to weigh in on it, but
• 23:02
Speaker 12: that's fine. I guess feels like it feels like the
• 23:05
Speaker 12: governor's trying to bring in the big guns and kind
• 23:07
Speaker 12: of why do that when when the legislature has soundly
• 23:11
  Speaker 12: rejected it.
• 23:12
Speaker 3: Talked again with Della Kaylae Young Thedave Island showing five
• 23:14
Speaker 3: eighty Live is brought to you party by Live Healthy
• 23:16
Speaker 3: West Virginia present by w GVU Medisine. It's a podcast
• 23:19

• 23:23
Speaker 3: out latest episode's wv metronews dot com under the podcast menu.
• 23:27
  Speaker 10: They like this.
• 23:27
Speaker 3: Past Sunday, there was a town hall, a discussion group,
• 23:31
Speaker 3: whatever you want to call it. I think the Woman's
• 23:33
Speaker 3: Club at Charleston that was the venue for it. You
• 23:37
Speaker 3: were there, I saw saw the TV coverage. You were there.
• 23:40
Speaker 3: I actually had some of the organizers of the show,
• 23:43
Speaker 3: Miss Hamilton and mister Pepper on the show last week
• 23:46
Speaker 3: talking about looks like from what I saw it was.
• 23:49
Speaker 3: It was a good crowd.
• 23:50
Speaker 10: I think two and fifty people.
• 23:51
Speaker 3: Two hundred fifty people, which is which is a lot.
• 23:53
Speaker 3: So talk about what was what took place in that meeting.
• 23:56
Speaker 10: Yeah, so its a town hall.
• 23:58
Speaker 12: It was hosted by the Kennaugh County demoic at An
• 24:00
Speaker 12: executive committee. They did invite the Kenawk County Republican Executive
• 24:03
Speaker 12: Committee to be a part of it.
• 24:05
  Speaker 10: I don't know. They weren't.
• 24:06
Speaker 12: I did not see them there. Maybe there were. I
• 24:08
Speaker 12: did see some Republicans in the crowd.
• 24:10
Speaker 3: It was Republicans in the crowd.
• 24:12
Speaker 12: Huh okay, okay, yeah, absolutely, and uh it did seem
• 24:15
Speaker 12: to be kind of a mixed crowd. And it was
• 24:17
Speaker 12: supposed to it was called Building Bridges, and it was
• 24:19
Speaker 12: supposed to just be a town hall where where people
• 24:22
Speaker 12: could get up and talk about whatever they wanted. They
• 24:23
Speaker 12: invited all the federal delegation. Nobody showed up to no
• 24:26
Speaker 12: one surprise, and they invited all of the local delegates,
• 24:31
Speaker 12: and myself and two other delegates were there and we
• 24:33
Speaker 12: mainly just answered questions and listened to concerns. A lot
• 24:36
Speaker 12: of the concerns were federal, but there was a lot
• 24:39
  Speaker 12: of state stuff.
• 24:39
  Speaker 3: Too.
• 24:39
Speaker 10: It was it was great.
• 24:40
Speaker 3: Well, and here is this was my take on the
• 24:43
Speaker 3: whole thing last week when I was talking to the organizers.
• 24:46
  Speaker 3: I mean, we've seen a delegate, you've seen on TV
• 24:49
Speaker 3: and online, you know these what these town halls have
• 24:51
Speaker 3: become in certain areas. This was not that, and there
• 24:55
Speaker 3: was no indication that it was ever going to be that.
• 25:01
Speaker 3: Now was it partisan, I mean it was. It was sponsored,
• 25:05
Speaker 3: as you said in part, you know, by Democrats. I
• 25:08
Speaker 3: get that, but I'm just sitting there thinking if I
• 25:11
Speaker 3: were a Republican House of Delegates member serving in this area,
• 25:18
Speaker 3: I probably would have attended that. I'm just saying it's
• 25:21
Speaker 3: easier for me to say because I'm not okay, but
• 25:24
Speaker 3: if I were, I probably would have because it would
• 25:26
Speaker 3: be an opportunity for some dialogue. And it's not going
• 25:31
Speaker 3: to be hostile. I mean, it's it's simply not. No
• 25:34
Speaker 3: one went in there thought that that it was ever
• 25:36
Speaker 3: going to get heated. I don't know that it did.
• 25:38
Speaker 12: I mean, you were little, not too bad, okay, it
• 25:41
Speaker 12: was just some people with frustrations, mostly at the federal Look,
• 25:43
Speaker 12: but they weren't okay.
• 25:45
Speaker 3: I get that, but I don't think that they were
• 25:47
Speaker 3: upset with other people in the room. Right, they were
• 25:50
Speaker 3: not up because those other people weren't.
• 25:52
Speaker 10: In the room, That's right.
• 25:53
Speaker 12: And I do think the republic the local Republican delegates,
• 25:56
Speaker 12: I'm not going to speak for them, but I do
• 25:57
Speaker 12: believe some of them were out of towns okay, and
• 25:59
Speaker 12: it has so kind to give them the benefit of
• 26:01
  Speaker 12: the doubts.
• 26:01
Speaker 3: It happens, It happens. If it were to be a
• 26:04
Speaker 3: similar event sponsored by a Republican group, would you and
• 26:08
  Speaker 3: others go?
• 26:08
Speaker 10: Potentially? Potentially I'd be open to it.
• 26:11
Speaker 12: Yeah, I mean I try to go to most things
• 26:13
Speaker 12: that I'm invited to, like even during session when there's
• 26:16
Speaker 12: like lobbying events held by groups that I don't necessarily
• 26:19
Speaker 12: agree with, I try to stop by just to hear, listen,
• 26:22
Speaker 12: hear people are there.
• 26:23
Speaker 3: But I guess my point in saying all this doubtgate
• 26:26
Speaker 3: and listeners have heard me say this before, is when
• 26:28
Speaker 3: did we ever get to this point where we can't
• 26:30
Speaker 3: just listen to what the other side has to say?
• 26:33
Speaker 3: I mean, just we're there, down and listen to what
• 26:37
Speaker 3: they have to say.
• 26:37
Speaker 12: Yeah, I would say that we're there and the political
• 26:40
Speaker 12: violence is ratcheting up. You know, we saw lawmakers killed
• 26:44
  Speaker 12: this summer. It's it's we're in a pretty vitriolic place.
• 26:47
Speaker 12: I think social media is part of that.
• 26:49
  Speaker 3: I think, oh, I think it's amazing.
• 26:50
Speaker 12: I think it's the major part of it, with the
• 26:52
Speaker 12: siloing of information, and that's not part. It's on both sides.
• 26:55
Speaker 12: You know, the algorithm contains you to what you believe,
• 26:58
Speaker 12: so people lose a lot of that. And it's really
• 27:00
Speaker 12: easy to dehumanize people behind a keyboard. It's a lot
• 27:03
Speaker 12: harder to do it in person. Yeah, very much so.
• 27:06
  Speaker 12: So I think that that's that's absolutely a problem, and
• 27:09
Speaker 12: I worry that we're getting to a point. You know.
• 27:11
Speaker 12: I listened to a podcast the other day where a
• 27:14
Speaker 12: Republican congressman he's the only one this year that has
• 27:17
  Speaker 12: held a town hall and he's always I think he's
• 27:20
Speaker 12: in New York State. He said he's always going to
• 27:22
Speaker 12: keep doing it, but he's the only one that's done
• 27:23
Speaker 12: it all year. I hope that's not the new norm.
• 27:25
Speaker 12: I hope we can sit down and have these kinds
• 27:28
Speaker 12: of conversations regardless of where we're at.
• 27:30
Speaker 3: But to play Devil's advocate delegate, you, as I said earlier,
• 27:33
Speaker 3: you have seen what goes on at some of these
• 27:36
Speaker 3: with silence, and the police had to get involved. And
• 27:38
Speaker 3: it's not this is not cool for lack of a
• 27:41
Speaker 3: better tell, no matter who's holding the town hall. I mean,
• 27:45
Speaker 3: people should be able to come in and simply talk.
• 27:48
Speaker 3: But my fear is is that the more that people
• 27:52
Speaker 3: don't come in and talk, the more like you know,
• 27:55
Speaker 3: the one of the rules of marketing I learned one
• 27:58
Speaker 3: hundred years ago in public relations classes is that if
• 28:02
Speaker 3: you don't tell your story, someone tells your story for you.
• 28:05
  Speaker 10: That's right.
• 28:06
Speaker 3: And that's where I am a feared that we are
• 28:10
Speaker 3: at this point, is that, well, you are not going
• 28:12
Speaker 3: to come not you specifically, but you're not going to
• 28:14
Speaker 3: come speak to us. So we're going to presume what
• 28:17
Speaker 3: it is you have to say. We're going to put
• 28:19
Speaker 3: those words in your mouth without hearing it from you.
• 28:21
Speaker 3: But you can also understand, as I said, when you
• 28:24
Speaker 3: see what you've seen on TV, why some of those
• 28:27
Speaker 3: would be a little bit hesitant to go to those
• 28:30
Speaker 3: I think you got to understand, you know, who's putting
• 28:32
Speaker 3: it on, who's responsible for it.
• 28:35
Speaker 12: Yeah, and they told us ahead of time that there
• 28:37
Speaker 12: was gonna be there were police there they hired security.
• 28:41
Speaker 12: I think we also just have to assume other people
• 28:43
Speaker 12: have good intentions, you know, and that's kind of hard
• 28:44
Speaker 12: to do these days.
• 28:45
Speaker 3: It is, it is one hundred percent. We're talking to
• 28:48
Speaker 3: Delegate Kaylee Young. All right, so you have you mentioned
• 28:52
Speaker 3: the congress person in New York was uh, and I
• 28:56
Speaker 3: don't I'm gonna take you at your word when you
• 28:58
Speaker 3: said they're the only one that's had to the town halls.
• 29:01
Speaker 3: You been a little bit critical of our delegation in
• 29:05
Speaker 3: DC for not meeting with the people. You would say
• 29:08
  Speaker 3: to that, what.
• 29:09
Speaker 12: Senator Justice canceled a town not a town hall and
• 29:13
Speaker 12: assembly at my children's school this week. I think he
• 29:16
Speaker 12: canceled all of his events this week. It's hard to
• 29:18
Speaker 12: get in front of these people these days. Even as
• 29:20
Speaker 12: a member of the legislature, it's hard for us to
• 29:24
Speaker 12: get a hold of these people. It's hard for constituents
• 29:26
Speaker 12: to get a hold of them. I just wish they'd
• 29:29
Speaker 12: be a little more visible and accessible to folks. I
• 29:33
Speaker 12: also think the big Bill is going to be really detrimental.
• 29:36
Speaker 12: I wonder where we're going to come up with the
• 29:37
Speaker 12: money for all the shortfalls we're about to.
• 29:39
Speaker 3: Have, and that's That's one of the things that those
• 29:44
Speaker 3: of us that weren't that had a lot of questions,
• 29:47
Speaker 3: people like me who tend to lean a little bit
• 29:49
Speaker 3: more conservative, but had a lot of questions about that
• 29:53
Speaker 3: bill was simply the price tag. Yeah, and it's not
• 29:56
Speaker 3: conservative in any way, shape, form or fashion to go
• 29:59
Speaker 3: it our former governor, current senator, it's not and that
• 30:03
Speaker 3: that was one of the major concerns if you had though,
• 30:07
Speaker 3: if you had the opportunity to talk to any of
• 30:11
Speaker 3: our senators, our elected officials. Are you know a congressperson
• 30:15
Speaker 3: uh More Miller, governor or I'm sorry, I've always call
• 30:21
Speaker 3: him governor, Senator Justice, Senator Capita. About meeting with the people,
• 30:25
Speaker 3: what would you say?
• 30:26
Speaker 12: I mean, I run into them at the grocery store, right,
• 30:29
Speaker 12: I see them sometimes and we have decent relationships and
• 30:32
Speaker 12: we're able to have conversations. But I would just tell
• 30:35
Speaker 12: them that they should listen to their constituents and be
• 30:38
Speaker 12: more public and be willing to sit down and have
• 30:40
Speaker 12: these conversations like we've been talking about. What's the worst
• 30:43
Speaker 12: they can do. You don't have to agree with people,
• 30:44
Speaker 12: but the least you can do is listen to them.
• 30:46
Speaker 3: Well, I think especially when you're in a setting like
• 30:49
Speaker 3: what we had this past Saturday Sunday. Rather and again
• 30:52
Speaker 3: I wasn't there, but from what I had been told
• 30:54
Speaker 3: and what I saw again in talking to mister Pepper
• 30:56
Speaker 3: and mister Hamilton last week, I saw absolutely no indication
• 31:02
Speaker 3: there was going to be anything violent, anything akin to
• 31:05
Speaker 3: what we've seen on social media and on television with
• 31:08
  Speaker 3: these town halls.
• 31:08
  Speaker 6: Turn.
• 31:09
Speaker 3: I mean, it's simply not going to happen. I think,
• 31:11
Speaker 3: if I mean, if nothing else, I think the others
• 31:15
Speaker 3: in the room were going to make sure that that
• 31:17
  Speaker 3: didn't happen.
• 31:18
Speaker 12: Absolutely, And I think so two things right to one extent,
• 31:21
Speaker 12: it kind of begets itself where people feel like they
• 31:24
Speaker 12: have to kind of do these grand gestures that that
• 31:27
Speaker 12: might be more partisan and might be more like bird
• 31:30
Speaker 12: dogging type of things because they don't know when they're
• 31:32
Speaker 12: going to see these people, so they like plan these
• 31:34
Speaker 12: activities to like kind of ambush folks at the rare
• 31:39
Speaker 12: opportunity where they know they're going to be out in public.
• 31:41
Speaker 12: So I think because they're not so visible that that
• 31:44
Speaker 12: it then creates that conversation and that situation, which I
• 31:49
  Speaker 12: don't think is positive for anybody. I don't think it's
• 31:51
Speaker 12: beneficial for anybody to bird dog somebody and show up
• 31:54
Speaker 12: and protest at their mobile office hours right at the
• 31:57
Speaker 12: library when they're helping people with social security.
• 32:00
Speaker 10: Don't like that when they're doing casework.
• 32:01
Speaker 12: The other thing is, I think it's incumbent on those
• 32:04
Speaker 12: of us, as elected leaders, to model good behavior and
• 32:07
Speaker 12: to be seen as leaders and be seen as out
• 32:09
Speaker 12: in our community and be seen as listening to our constituents,
• 32:13
Speaker 12: whether we agree with.
• 32:13
Speaker 10: Them or not. That's our job. We represent all of them,
• 32:17
  Speaker 10: all right.
• 32:17
Speaker 3: So before we let you go next year, you run
• 32:20
  Speaker 3: it for relation.
• 32:21
Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm going to run for office next year.
• 32:24
Speaker 3: Okay, we'll see which one. Oh, okay, we'll see all right.
• 32:28
Speaker 3: So there's a possibility that you would not run for
• 32:30
  Speaker 3: House of Delegates.
• 32:31
Speaker 10: I'm going to run for office next year.
• 32:34
Speaker 3: Okay. Interesting. Interesting, Well you have to come back and
• 32:37

• 36:07
Speaker 3: think they are special? You media folks run it into
• 36:11
Speaker 3: the ground, says the Texter. Sorry, but I do appreciate
• 36:16
Speaker 3: the text, uh, Texas. Yesterday Trump said he has great
• 36:23
Speaker 3: common sense and is a smart man. Remember when he
• 36:26
Speaker 3: stared at the eclipse? I remember, Yeah, I do remember that.
• 36:31
Speaker 3: Tex says. The only something like that, The only way
• 36:35
Speaker 3: something like that will work is if it's a known,
• 36:38
Speaker 3: bonafide conservative with a reputable image is involved. It was
• 36:44
Speaker 3: organized by liberals. You can't get a buy in like that.
• 36:48
Speaker 3: Why why can you not? I mean why, I don't
• 36:54
Speaker 3: understand why you would would not, Texas. When the legislature
• 36:59
Speaker 3: is in and the governor legislators are debating PIA and
• 37:02
Speaker 3: pay raises, I'd like for them to remember one thing.
• 37:06
Speaker 3: Teachers and service personnel work at soft targets every day.
• 37:10
Speaker 3: They're under the thread of shooting violence, and the teacher
• 37:12
Speaker 3: and service personnel are expected to protect and sacrifice their
• 37:15
Speaker 3: safety for students if a terrible event happens. So parents,
• 37:19
Speaker 3: governor legislators. Remember whose task of protecting your children during
• 37:23
Speaker 3: a viable attack at school? Quit screwing those tasks to
• 37:26
Speaker 3: teach and to protect your children. Tex says Obama started
• 37:31
Speaker 3: all this. He called us bitter clingers. It was divisive.
• 37:37
Speaker 3: Tex says. Delegate Young complains about the price tag and
• 37:40
Speaker 3: the big beautiful bill, but she didn't complain about the
• 37:43
Speaker 3: price tag of the American Rescue Plan and the inflation
• 37:46
Speaker 3: Reduction Act. That makes her a hypocrite. No one listens
• 37:48
Speaker 3: to hypocrites. Well, okay, uh, Tex says, I'll tell you
• 37:55
Speaker 3: when it happened. I was told by Republicans that January
• 37:58
Speaker 3: sixth was justified, that the criminals are patriots who unfairly persecuted,
• 38:02
Speaker 3: That Democrats are vermin and thugs, it must be eradicated,
• 38:05
Speaker 3: that immigrants poisoned the blood of the country, That Democrats
• 38:08
Speaker 3: are a secret cabal to pedophiles, that a sex abuser
• 38:11
Speaker 3: and felm It is a good role model for the country,
• 38:13
Speaker 3: and that's good to grab women by the blank. Fix this.
• 38:16
Speaker 3: Republicans then talk to me about listening. Republicans have no
• 38:19
Speaker 3: honor or integrity. Text. You may have been told that
• 38:22
Speaker 3: by some people, but not by all. And there are
• 38:25
Speaker 3: those of us that at the time was a Republican.
• 38:28
Speaker 3: I'm not now. I'm a registered independent who thought that
• 38:31
Speaker 3: January sixth was horrifying, unjustified. And that's basically what may
• 38:36
Speaker 3: led me to leave the Republican Party. One of the things.
• 38:39
Speaker 3: Don't paint us all with one brush, even though I'm
• 38:42
Speaker 3: no longer a Republican tex says a delegate. Young knows
• 38:47
Speaker 3: she's going to get booted from office next year if
• 38:50
Speaker 3: she runs for the House again. She's hedging herself and
• 38:53
Speaker 3: she should. We are coming, says is a Texter. Okay,

Speaker 3: I'll study that a little bit further and I'll explain why,

Speaker 3: because I want to have this particular text. I want

• 41:40
Speaker 3: not gonna win the battle with this Texter, and that's
• 41:42
Speaker 3: perfectly fine. Text says you paint liberals with one brush daily.
• 41:46
Speaker 3: Every liberal is a cross dressing library and peen and
• 41:49
Speaker 3: classroom litterboxes because Maga who lives in fantasy daily can't

Speaker 3: to have time to read it in full during the

Speaker 3: break there. I appreciate you. Let me put this off
• 45:39
Speaker 3: a little bit. I did receive a text from one
• 45:44
Speaker 3: particular House of Delegates member, and I will lead his
• 45:47
Speaker 3: or her name off, but they did say that they
• 45:51
Speaker 3: were invited to the event by mister Pepper, and I'm
• 45:55
Speaker 3: going to read you the exact email. Thank you for
• 45:58
Speaker 3: sending this. I am in these kind of events, but
• 46:01
Speaker 3: will unfortunately be out of town actually on a legislative
• 46:04
Speaker 3: work trip that they will be returning on Tuesdays. So
• 46:08
Speaker 3: at least one Republican member, maybe more said that they
• 46:13
Speaker 3: wanted to go but would be out of town on
• 46:15
Speaker 3: the legislative work trip. I appreciate the texture or the
• 46:18
Speaker 3: person the delegate, and without having permission from them, I
• 46:21
Speaker 3: don't want to mention their name. If they're still listening
• 46:23
Speaker 3: and they want to mention it, they want me to,
• 46:24
Speaker 3: you can text me back. And they texted that to
• 46:27
Speaker 3: my personal phone. I will do it, but I will
• 46:29
Speaker 3: not do it without your permission. Texas, almost every liberal
• 46:33
Speaker 3: is a cross dressing library in LOL. We've had to
• 46:38
Speaker 3: put the lol after that. Tex says the constant talk
• 46:40
Speaker 3: of why West Virginia has left the Democratic Party mainly
• 46:42
Speaker 3: center around the far left trans issues, gay issues, and
• 46:45
Speaker 3: woke issues, you know, things that attempt to humanize others
• 46:48
Speaker 3: and to help with empathy. Those people went Republican, whose
• 46:51
Speaker 3: far extreme sided is racism, sexism, homophobia, and extreme Christianity. Yes,
• 46:56
Speaker 3: Democrats lost people, but only because those people who went
• 46:59
Speaker 3: Republican chose to align their hearts and souls with a
• 47:01
Speaker 3: party that makes them the most comfortable, says a tankster.
• 47:06
Speaker 3: Tex says the same song of dance, wah wah wah. Okay,
• 47:10
Speaker 3: I don't know if that was wah wah wah like
• 47:12
Speaker 3: it is in crying or maybe like the bumper music
• 47:15
Speaker 3: or the return music on happy Days. I don't know,
• 47:19
Speaker 3: Charlie Brown. Perhaps Tex, says Dave. The West Reginia legislature
• 47:23
Speaker 3: needs to pass the death penalty for anyone who would
• 47:25
Speaker 3: harm kill any student, teacher, or school personal personnel, period
• 47:30
Speaker 3: says the texter. Uh, okay, we're not going to get
• 47:33
Speaker 3: personal on that particular thing there. Okay, I got it
• 47:43
Speaker 3: all right. So anyway, back to a story about the
• 47:47
Speaker 3: former Canagh County Deputy Slash Bailiff as I mentioned Chris's
• 47:50
Speaker 3: story wv Metronews dot com. A second woman has not
• 47:53
Speaker 3: come forward, claiming to have been repeatedly abused and sexually
• 47:56
Speaker 3: assaulted while in custody waiting on court hearing. According to
• 47:59
Speaker 3: official court documents, cast Close made unwanted advances toward the
• 48:03
Speaker 3: anonymous woman almost immediately after she was brought in the
• 48:06
Speaker 3: Canawa County Courthouse over the course of two years, from
• 48:09
Speaker 3: late twenty twenty three until earlier this year. The first
• 48:12
Speaker 3: woman who came forward a couple of weeks ago, which
• 48:15
Speaker 3: is what led to Close being put in jail. That
• 48:17
Speaker 3: woman claims have been sexually assaulted while being held on
• 48:20
Speaker 3: the seventh floor awaiting the hearing. That incident is alleged
• 48:25
Speaker 3: to have happened in closest office office after she was
• 48:28
Speaker 3: removed from her cell. Now the second woman is offering
• 48:30
Speaker 3: him claims of graphic encounters with this person again. We
• 48:34
Speaker 3: will talk with the attorneys in that case later today
• 48:38
Speaker 3: on Metro News Midday, I want to go back just quickly,
• 48:43
Speaker 3: and we're bringing TJ. Meadows for a quick preview talk
• 48:45
Speaker 3: line to yesterday's show. For a moment had Morgan Tenny
• 48:49
Speaker 3: on from the Putnam County Development of Authority and talking
• 48:53
Speaker 3: about other things, including its major housing project. And I
• 48:56
Speaker 3: touched on it a little earlier with thor Meeks as well.
• 49:00
Speaker 3: The amount of people who get upset over progress truly,
• 49:04
Speaker 3: truly cracked me up. Over four hundred homes are being
• 49:08
Speaker 3: built in the Hurricane area, an area that is in
• 49:11
Speaker 3: a definite need of housing, I mean lots of it,
• 49:14
Speaker 3: not only in Putnam County, but also in Knawa County,
• 49:17
Speaker 3: Capital counties as well. And reading comments online this way,
• 49:21
Speaker 3: and I know, I know, never read the comments of
• 49:25
Speaker 3: people saying it was a waste of perfectly good farmland,
• 49:29
Speaker 3: farmland which by the way, wasn't being used as farmland.
• 49:31
Speaker 3: It was a big vacant field, all right. I say,
• 49:36
Speaker 3: as somebody who lives in that area, build the houses,
• 49:40
Speaker 3: build them. And as for traffic, traffic is horrible in
• 49:46
Speaker 3: Tay's Valley, But again it's a great problem to have. Again,
• 49:52
Speaker 3: I've said it until I'm blew in the face. How
• 49:54
Speaker 3: many areas of this state would kill to have a
• 49:57
  Speaker 3: traffic problem.
• 49:59
  Speaker 6: It will.
• 50:00
Speaker 3: Yesterday about a twenty minute drive for me from the
• 50:06
Speaker 3: Tays Valley accident off I sixty four to my home.
• 50:11
Speaker 3: It was about a twenty minute drive in what is
• 50:14
Speaker 3: maybe maybe three miles. I didn't like it. I may
• 50:19
Speaker 3: have been cursing under my breath, but again I will
• 50:23
Speaker 3: take it. The area is exploding yet again, as it
• 50:27
Speaker 3: did in the early to mid nineties, and it is
• 50:31
Speaker 3: simply the place to be right now. I'm a little
• 50:34
Speaker 3: you know, I'm a little prejudiced toward my home, my homeland,
• 50:37
Speaker 3: not my hometown, but where I chose to make my
• 50:39
Speaker 3: home eleven years ago. Great things are going on there, man,
• 50:42
Speaker 3: great things. You'll recall a week ago Saturday there was
• 50:46
Speaker 3: a shelter in place, and since then there have been
• 50:49
Speaker 3: some town halls to talk about it. One last night
• 50:51
Speaker 3: at Bell Morgan Pemberton covered it, writes about a wv
• 50:54
Speaker 3: metro news dot com. About a dozen or so, according
• 50:56
Speaker 3: to Morgan, were there last night, just a lot of
• 50:58
Speaker 3: questions on what turned out to be not a big
• 51:01
Speaker 3: deal at all. It was harmless. Apparently officials from the
• 51:05
Speaker 3: plant were there, Canaw County Emergency Management Services, the Kanaw
• 51:09
Speaker 3: Poundy kana Puttnam Emergency Planning Committee and others were there
• 51:13
Speaker 3: to meet with the residents. And if you live there,
• 51:16
Speaker 3: probably not a big deal. But as one resident pointed
• 51:19
Speaker 3: out there have been a lot of newer people moving
• 51:21
Speaker 3: to the area who may not have been aware of
• 51:22
Speaker 3: what to actually do in a shelter in place like
• 51:26
Speaker 3: we had a week ago Saturday. Again, Morgan, great job
• 51:28
Speaker 3: by the story. You can read it for yourself at
• 51:30
Speaker 3: wv metronews dot com. Deck says a little reminder to
• 51:33
Speaker 3: left us that these sons of liberty were called extrememists
• 51:36
Speaker 3: by British loyalists. So anyone who fights against the Marxist
• 51:38
Speaker 3: takeover of our republic is an extremist. Question mark. Stop
• 51:43
Speaker 3: lecturing the rest of us about tolerance and acceptance while
• 51:46
Speaker 3: constantly making nasty, snide comments. Over half of the country
• 51:51
Speaker 3: never accused of making snide nasty comments. TJ. Meadows is here?
• 51:56
Speaker 3: He doing man good?
• 51:57
  Speaker 5: How are you?
• 51:58
Speaker 3: I am doing fine. I'm glad to hear it getting
• 52:00
Speaker 3: I'm getting attacked from both sides. Sorry, buddy, I'm a
• 52:04
  Speaker 3: you got big shoulders. I'm a no, I don't just
• 52:07
Speaker 3: got a big gut. I am a left wing nut
• 52:09
Speaker 3: job slash right wing nut job. Which is it. I'm
• 52:11
Speaker 3: glad to know who you are. How about we just
• 52:14
Speaker 3: go with nut job and just leave it at that
• 52:16
Speaker 3: what you got on a big show. My friend n

• 52:35
Speaker 3: Man, what's up with that? We'll talk about it.
• 52:38
Speaker 17: We'll talk about it also that Ohio County School's board

Speaker 3: We'll get into that with Howard as well. All Right,
