- 0:24Well, hey guys, and welcome to Inspirations for
- 0:27Your Life.
- 0:27It's great to be here.
- 0:28I know the way we've been doing the
- 0:29shows have been a little bit screwy this
- 0:32new year because of the way things have
- 0:34fell.
- 0:35What we did was we kept our show
- 0:38going last year, which basically took the show
- 0:43from right around the 20s.
- 0:46It was actually, we had the one show
- 0:47that went from the 27th and that show
- 0:52basically ended on Wednesday, the 31st.
- 0:57We did that because of the new year.
- 0:59Then for the new year, starting as we've
- 1:02been on the air four years now, the
- 1:03fifth year, which we're now starting a couple
- 1:07of days in, one and two was show
- 1:10one and day three, which is today, January
- 1:133rd, is actually show number two.
- 1:16That'll roll through, commence and end on next
- 1:18Friday.
- 1:19Hey guys, if you're new here, I want
- 1:21to take the opportunity to say welcome and
- 1:23definitely a big thank you to you for
- 1:26joining me all these years.
- 1:28Also, I want to thank you for coming
- 1:30back tonight.
- 1:31If this is your first time here, I
- 1:32want to say welcome and thank you.
- 1:34If you've been here before, I want to
- 1:36say thank you and of course, welcome back.
- 1:38It's always great to have you with me
- 1:40here on the Inspirations for Your Life, the
- 1:43daily podcast just for you guys.
- 1:47If you have been here before, I invite
- 1:49you to check out BelieveMeAchieve.com for more
- 1:51of my, of course, amazing, inspiring creations, which
- 1:55you can do 24 hours a day, but
- 1:56definitely do it after the show is over.
- 2:01All right.
- 2:02So if you're thirsty, feel free to go
- 2:04get yourself something.
- 2:05Maybe it's an hour of water, maybe it's
- 2:06another drink, maybe it's a snack, a beverage,
- 2:09fruit, whatever it is.
- 2:10Feel free to get that.
- 2:11It could be healthy or not.
- 2:11That's totally up to you.
- 2:13So without further ado, guys, let's go ahead
- 2:15and kick off this show.
- 2:17I do want to express a big thank
- 2:19you to a lot of our partners and
- 2:22people that are carrying our show, like Oakland
- 2:24TV, BronxNet, PRX, and so many others.
- 2:27But I especially want to thank these people
- 2:29because they have really been very supportive of
- 2:32wanting to carry our content.
- 2:34And I'm very grateful for them because I
- 2:36strive, you know, to create content that is
- 2:38meaningful, a content that's going to allow people
- 2:40to become, yes, guys, a better version of
- 2:44themselves every single day.
- 2:46So without any further ado, guys, let's kick
- 2:49this show off.
- 2:50So what's been holding you back before you
- 2:54actually set your goals?
- 2:55Hey, I'm John Seymour, serial entrepreneur.
- 2:58I'm an engineer, marketing specialist.
- 3:01I'm a video producer, podcast host, coach, graduate
- 3:06student, and yes, guys, a passionate lifelong learner.
- 3:10And it is my privilege and pleasure to
- 3:12be here with you guys today or this
- 3:13evening to help inspire you with more insights
- 3:17to become just a little better than you
- 3:20are right now.
- 3:20By the way, if I have not said
- 3:22it to you, I want to say Happy
- 3:24New Year to you.
- 3:25I hope by this time you've at least
- 3:27started on your 2026 resolutions.
- 3:30I know I haven't finished mine, but I
- 3:33have started them and my vow is to
- 3:35have them all done before Monday so that
- 3:37I'm right on track.
- 3:38One of them being to start writing my
- 3:42new book and every day just writing like
- 3:45a page.
- 3:46So again, it's great to have you here.
- 3:48And so my question is, when is the
- 3:52last time, guys?
- 3:53When is that last time you stopped to
- 3:58ask why your goals stall out before you
- 4:01start?
- 4:02You and I are about to find out.
- 4:05So welcome once again to the Inspirations for
- 4:07Your Life podcast show, the Daily Motivational Show.
- 4:12Here I show you what helps you spark
- 4:15awareness, build better habits, and live with more
- 4:18intention.
- 4:20And so it is a privilege to be
- 4:21your host here and help you dive into
- 4:24what's really blocking your progress before your goals
- 4:29even take shape.
- 4:31Because you can't hit the gas if you're
- 4:34still stuck in the same old patterns.
- 4:37Let's uncover together those signals, those real life
- 4:41signals that tell you exactly what needs changing
- 4:44before you set another goal.
- 4:46I think a lot of people get frustrated
- 4:48about what's in their goals and what they
- 4:50have and what they don't have.
- 4:52But I want you to let you know
- 4:54it's not about you.
- 4:58It's about the behaviors that you're eliciting.
- 5:04All right, guys, so let's start with number
- 5:05one.
- 5:05Number one is name the moment your day
- 5:09usually starts going downhill.
- 5:11We all have one of these times, that
- 5:14precise time or that trigger point that shifts
- 5:17our energy.
- 5:19Maybe it's a text message, it's a traffic
- 5:21jam or a project notification that steals your
- 5:23focus or maybe even a client saying something,
- 5:26right?
- 5:26So when you can name that moment, you
- 5:32take back control from your autopilot reactions.
- 5:36And so I'm going to name one right
- 5:38now.
- 5:38So you guys know I run a charity
- 5:41and also run some other organizations.
- 5:43And my moment was when I was expecting
- 5:46this one group to be supportive and to
- 5:50come to my event that I put on.
- 5:53And when I wasn't getting the support, I
- 5:56kept pushing and pushing through Facebook.
- 5:59But I realized that in January, I'm not
- 6:03going to do that anymore.
- 6:04I'm still going to post things on our
- 6:05own Facebook page, but I'm not going to
- 6:08post to all these other Facebook groups anymore.
- 6:11I'm still going to tag people and things
- 6:12like that, but I'm just not going to
- 6:14do this anymore because I'm done kissing up.
- 6:21I'm done trying to convince people.
- 6:24I don't need to convince people.
- 6:26If they don't want to come to my
- 6:27event, well, then that's fine.
- 6:29But the reason I say this is I
- 6:31have now taken back my power, my power
- 6:35to become a person on intention.
- 6:45And that intention, I feel, is going to
- 6:48make a big difference for me and for
- 6:50others.
- 6:51But you can't let other people let you
- 6:55feel a certain way.
- 6:56If you don't like it, then detach from
- 6:58the situation.
- 6:59That's all you need to do.
- 7:00It's very easy.
- 7:01So awareness isn't blame, guys.
- 7:04It's the start of power.
- 7:07And when we can understand what our power
- 7:10is, we get it back.
- 7:15It's not a nasty thing.
- 7:24That's important to understand.
- 7:26I think sometimes we feel a certain way
- 7:34because of what's going on in our life.
- 7:38But what happens in our life is because
- 7:43of a perception we create.
- 7:46And when we attach to something, then we
- 7:53drain ourselves.
- 7:56If it's something that is draining us.
- 7:59If it's something good, then it obviously boosts
- 8:01our energy.
- 8:03But I don't want you to think that
- 8:05just because you're with someone that you
- 8:24can't go somewhere.
- 8:29And by going somewhere, I mean the intention
- 8:35to move forward in your life.
- 8:37You guys can do this in your life.
- 8:39But it starts by you identifying and by
- 8:42you detaching from the things that are controlling
- 8:46you every single day in your life.
- 8:51That's how it works, guys.
- 8:52So if you detach from something you don't
- 8:55like, it's nowhere going to disempower you.
- 8:59It's nowhere going to control you.
- 9:00It's that simple.
- 9:02Number two, guys.
- 9:04If your stress had a warning light, what
- 9:07would it flash?
- 9:08Imagine your body as your dashboard.
- 9:11The red lights, the tight shoulders, the shallow
- 9:15breathing.
- 9:17They're all data.
- 9:18They're not there to punish you, but to
- 9:21inform you.
- 9:22When your body sends stress signals, that's the
- 9:26moment to pause, to breathe, and to reset
- 9:30before emotion takes the wheel.
- 9:32Let's do that breathing exercise again.
- 9:34So the way it works is it goes
- 9:364, 2, 6.
- 9:38So you inhale for 4.
- 9:41You hold for 2.
- 9:43And you exhale for 6.
- 9:48Inhale for 4.
- 9:51Hold for 2.
- 9:53Exhale for 6.
- 9:55One more time.
- 9:57Inhale for 4.
- 10:00Hold for 2.
- 10:01Exhale for 6.
- 10:04And you already feel, I'm sure, like much,
- 10:08much better.
- 10:10And hopefully that means something to you guys.
- 10:13It should.
- 10:15It should put you back in the driver's
- 10:18seat.
- 10:19Number three, notice what you always say yes
- 10:22to.
- 10:23Even when you mean no, a single habit
- 10:27can completely derail your focus like that.
- 10:31Saying yes when your body screams no is
- 10:34people-pleasing, disguised as ambition.
- 10:39And I know we all want to do
- 10:41things to please people, but if pleasing people
- 10:43is going to make our cup be empty,
- 10:47then we can't do that.
- 10:49As much as we're a good person, and
- 10:51this has nothing to do about you being
- 10:53good or not being good, you don't need
- 10:55to deplete all your energy so you have
- 10:58nothing left for yourself.
- 11:00Remember, you have to have a little bit
- 11:02in your cup, because if you don't, you
- 11:04can't help yourself and you can't help others.
- 11:07Reclaiming your no helps you create space for
- 11:11what actually matters.
- 11:12And eliminates the resentment that often kills motivation.
- 11:18Now, again, this does not happen overnight.
- 11:22I want to be very, very clear about
- 11:24saying that.
- 11:24It doesn't happen overnight.
- 11:29But it will happen in time if you
- 11:33pay attention to the signals.
- 11:36Now, the signals generally get louder the more
- 11:41in danger you are.
- 11:42So, if you can pick up, let me
- 11:44give an example.
- 11:45Let's say, one example I would use is
- 11:50a wire trace and toner.
- 11:53If the wire is here, okay, and the
- 11:57toner is at the other end, and you're
- 12:00touching it, and if you're away from the
- 12:02wire, maybe a few feet you hear something,
- 12:04but the closer you get to the wire
- 12:06that has the tone on it, the louder
- 12:09it gets.
- 12:10But in our life, when things get louder,
- 12:13we need to see that as the situation
- 12:15is becoming more serious.
- 12:17So, we should be listening to those soft
- 12:20sounds first.
- 12:22Number four, guys, your calendar exposes your real
- 12:26priorities.
- 12:27More than your mouth does.
- 12:30So, what you do daily speaks louder than
- 12:33the goals you say you have.
- 12:35Look at where your hours go.
- 12:38That's the true reflection of your priorities.
- 12:42Are they aligned with your vision or perhaps
- 12:46someone else's?
- 12:47Number five, pay attention to what you reach
- 12:50for when you're overwhelmed.
- 12:53We all have coping mechanisms.
- 12:56Scrolling, snacking, zoning out.
- 12:59These aren't random.
- 13:01They're patterns built over time that we develop.
- 13:03Instead of judging them, observe them.
- 13:07Each one reveals the emotion you're avoiding and
- 13:11the habit that's quietly shaping your days.
- 13:15And I know that sounds like something that
- 13:17you can't do, but I want to tell
- 13:19you that it is something you can do.
- 13:23And that's an important thing to realize.
- 13:27Number six, your coping isn't random.
- 13:32It's rehearsed.
- 13:34Ever notice how you respond to frustration in
- 13:38exactly the same way every time?
- 13:41That's not weakness.
- 13:43It's scripting.
- 13:44The great news, you wrote that script once,
- 13:48which means you can rewrite it anytime you
- 13:51choose.
- 13:52Number seven, guys, the way you talk to
- 13:54yourself before bed is your true baseline.
- 13:57Forget positive affirmations for just a second.
- 14:01Listen to the truth you whisper to yourself.
- 14:04Before sleep, is it frustration or is it
- 14:07forgiveness, worry or gratitude?
- 14:11That nightly self-talk sets the rhythm for
- 14:13tomorrow's attitude.
- 14:15So be careful what you tell yourself before
- 14:16you go to sleep.
- 14:17Number eight, track one habit today.
- 14:19Instead of judging it for one day, just
- 14:22notice no shame, no guilt, no fixes.
- 14:26Track one behavior, maybe how often you interrupt
- 14:29yourself or how often you check your phone.
- 14:32Awareness alone increases self-respect and momentum.
- 14:38Number nine, what thought shows up right before
- 14:42you quit?
- 14:43That one thought, it's pointless.
- 14:47This isn't working.
- 14:48Maybe later is the voice of self-sabotage.
- 14:52And it comes out of frustration.
- 14:55The moment you learn to name that thought,
- 14:57you rob it of its authority.
- 14:59And you recognize it and then move past
- 15:01it.
- 15:02That's what's important to classify things.
- 15:04You're not flaky, guys.
- 15:05Number 10, you're just over-committed to things
- 15:08that don't matter.
- 15:10You don't need more motivation.
- 15:12You need more elimination.
- 15:15Every yes doesn't serve your growth, unfortunately.
- 15:18Quietly, it drains your creative energy.
- 15:21Focus is built through subtraction, not more to
- 15:25-do lists.
- 15:26Number 11, your room is a reflection, not
- 15:29an accident, guys.
- 15:30Take a look around.
- 15:32Clutter, chaos, or calmness, it's a mirror of
- 15:35your current mental load.
- 15:37The state of your space often echoes the
- 15:39state of your mindset.
- 15:42Start small.
- 15:43Clear one corner, one drawer.
- 15:45Momentum begins with a single act of order.
- 15:49Number 12, scroll patterns equal mindset patterns.
- 15:53How do you scroll?
- 15:55Mindlessly or meaningfully?
- 15:57Are you using it to connect or compare?
- 16:00The content you consume becomes the content of
- 16:03your mind.
- 16:04That's key.
- 16:05Number 13, guys, you repeat what you don't
- 16:08repair.
- 16:09Cycles don't break themselves, but they do reveal
- 16:13themselves.
- 16:14Every emotional rerun is an invitation to heal,
- 16:17not to hide things.
- 16:19Number 14, old you reacts, new you observes.
- 16:24This one thing about evolution, the next time
- 16:27you feel triggered, pause and ask, who just
- 16:31showed up?
- 16:32The old me or the new me?
- 16:35Observation shifts identity faster than force ever will.
- 16:40So pay attention to that, guys.
- 16:42I think that's going to be something that
- 16:43really is going to shape who you are
- 16:46as a person.
- 16:48Number 15, catch the tiny excuse that always
- 16:53sounds reasonable.
- 16:54Excuses often wear convincing disguises, so we believe
- 16:58them.
- 16:58The key is to catch them in their
- 17:00quietest form, right when they sound reasonable.
- 17:03That's where real growth begins, and you can
- 17:07do this, guys.
- 17:08Number 16, your body keeps telling you the
- 17:11truth every day.
- 17:12Why don't you listen?
- 17:14Where are you tense right now?
- 17:15Your body records every emotion your mind ignores.
- 17:20Tune in.
- 17:21It's not just about mindfulness we've talked about
- 17:23before.
- 17:24It's about decoding your personal data stream, because
- 17:27everything in life, guys, is all just data.
- 17:31So we need to be understanding of what
- 17:34data is and how we respond to that
- 17:37data.
- 17:37That is very key, guys.
- 17:39Number 17, your triggers are road signs.
- 17:43They're not character flaws.
- 17:44Every trigger is a teacher.
- 17:46Instead of fighting, why don't you think about
- 17:50them and mark the exact areas you're ready
- 17:53to grow through?
- 17:56Number 18, the thing you joke about might
- 17:59be the thing you need to heal.
- 18:01Humor is often camouflage for pain.
- 18:06Notice what you dismiss with laughter.
- 18:09It might be the very place your heart
- 18:11needs honesty.
- 18:13Number 19, you're incredibly consistent, just maybe at
- 18:17the wrong things.
- 18:19What you repeat daily defines you.
- 18:21Consistency isn't the enemy.
- 18:23Wrong focus is, guys, channel that same discipline
- 18:27toward things that expand you, not drain you
- 18:30and disempower you.
- 18:32Number 20, guys, you're not stuck.
- 18:35You're in an endless loop, and every loop
- 18:39can be broken once it's named.
- 18:41Rewrite the cycle by spotting the pattern, not
- 18:44blaming the person.
- 18:46So in computers, we have loops, and if
- 18:48we have endless loops that never finish or
- 18:52that never start, that could be a problem.
- 18:54But if we name the loop and we're
- 18:56able to comment out the loop, we can
- 18:58stop that, okay?
- 19:01And then we have to create a new
- 19:02loop, obviously.
- 19:03So you see, guys, awareness is your greatest
- 19:07upgrade.
- 19:08You can't change what you refuse to face.
- 19:11But once you shine a light on your
- 19:14patterns, your habits, and your hidden scripts, transformation
- 19:20becomes inevitable.
- 19:21That's what happens.
- 19:22Remember, today's job isn't to fix.
- 19:24It's to notice, because every change starts with,
- 19:28well, one moment of awareness.
- 19:31That's right.
- 19:32And I think that's something that a lot
- 19:35of people, I think a lot of people,
- 19:38like, they get stuck with this.
- 19:40They really do.
- 19:42Number 18, guys, as I said, the thing
- 19:44you joke about might be the thing you
- 19:46need to heal.
- 19:47And I think sometimes in our life, we
- 19:50just get stuck.
- 19:53We get so stuck in our lives, not
- 19:55because we want to be stuck, but because
- 19:58we are stuck.
- 20:00And people think, just like a four-wheeler,
- 20:03if we get stuck, there's no way to
- 20:04get unstuck.
- 20:06But I want to tell you something.
- 20:08Everybody can get unstuck if we apply the
- 20:10right things, okay?
- 20:14These are keys, guys.
- 20:17Really, really keys.
- 20:20Remember that if you're on autopilot, you probably
- 20:24should pay attention to that.
- 20:26If your life had a before-sabotage moment,
- 20:30when is it?
- 20:32Remember, your complaints are data.
- 20:35Who taught me this pattern, and do I
- 20:37still agree with it?
- 20:39Why am I still running this program in
- 20:41my head?
- 20:45You know, the first time, guys, that I
- 20:46learned these patterns are in my head and
- 20:48that I didn't put them there.
- 20:51Somebody else did, okay?
- 21:03Somebody else did.
- 21:13Somebody else put them there.
- 21:14And you can remove them if we put
- 21:20the attention on it.
- 21:23If we put the attention on it.
- 21:24If we don't put the attention on it,
- 21:26then that could be a problem.
- 21:30So we've got to focus on what it
- 21:33is that's drawing our attention, okay?
- 21:37What is drawing our attention, okay?
- 21:46And this is important, very
- 21:58important to understand, to be mindful of.
- 22:12Hopefully, that means something to you.
- 22:16Hopefully, it means that you can make a
- 22:20difference in your life.
- 22:21But I'm not going to tell you that
- 22:23this is going to happen today.
- 22:26I'm not going to tell you, like, how
- 22:29it's going to happen, okay?
- 22:30I'm going to tell you that this is
- 22:33something that you need to be aware of.
- 22:38Awareness, okay?
- 22:49I know this sounds hard, but remember I
- 22:52said to you, we had to practice getting
- 22:54comfortable being uncomfortable, okay?
- 23:14That's important, guys, to know what that is,
- 23:23okay?
- 23:32And I think sometimes it can be hard
- 23:40to realize.
- 23:50It can be hard.
- 23:52But that doesn't mean we should not pay
- 23:54attention to it.
- 23:57And I think as we roll into 2026,
- 24:02or in 2026, I want to tell you
- 24:06that this whole year should be about intention.
- 24:09It should be about the things that you
- 24:11want.
- 24:12And I've said this before, if you fail
- 24:14to plan, you have planned to fail.
- 24:16Now, today is January 3rd, depending on when
- 24:18you're watching this.
- 24:18If you're watching it later, or sometimes our
- 24:21partners play it a week later, it's still
- 24:24not too late.
- 24:25But we really got to make sure that
- 24:27we get your goals solidified in January so
- 24:30that you don't keep putting it off and
- 24:32putting it off.
- 24:33It's okay to have a later date, but
- 24:34you don't want to keep saying, oh, tomorrow,
- 24:35tomorrow, tomorrow.
