- 0:46Speaker 3: So how you feeling about, guys? About not long now?
- 0:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's the promo is really working well, and yeah,
- 0:55Speaker 2: I think we really looking forward to the day and
- 1:01Speaker 2: we have on the same day we have a live
- 1:04Speaker 2: show in our hometown and open air festival, and so
- 1:08Speaker 2: I think this will be a great day and we
- 1:12Speaker 2: have some ideas for the days before. We will have
- 1:16Speaker 2: maybe a secret listening session, so some people are joining
- 1:21Speaker 2: us and some people can can buy the stuff and
- 1:26Speaker 2: we will present the new album. So it will be
- 1:30Speaker 2: a cool time in the next week. Next week.
- 1:35Speaker 4: I can tell us a bit more about the album
- 1:37Speaker 4: from a musical point of view and what you were
- 1:39Speaker 4: going for with it.
- 1:42Speaker 5: Yeah, I think this time around we were more keen
- 1:45Speaker 5: on having a dusty, rotten roll record with more up
- 1:50Speaker 5: tempo songs than other Goddess, but there's still a hint
- 1:54Speaker 5: of melancholy here and there, especially with DS Tina and
- 2:00Speaker 5: one instrumental, but it's mostly a straight rotten roll record,
- 2:05Speaker 5: I guess, rotten roll of.
- 2:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Today you've released the singles Jaguar Written and Holler in
- 2:13Speaker 4: the Hollow, so they good sonic representation and what to expect.
- 2:16Speaker 2: From the whole album definitely, yeah, Yeah. So last Friday
- 2:23Speaker 2: we released the third single, Midnight Masters, the title track,
- 2:28Speaker 2: and it's also in the vein of kind of hollow
- 2:33Speaker 2: in the Hollow, straightforward, good melodies, a lot of hooks
- 2:37Speaker 2: and catchy vocals.
- 2:40Speaker 4: So yeah, you're recording these songs nicely back in September
- 2:48Speaker 4: last year. So but tom they come out, they'll be
- 2:50Speaker 4: nearly twelve months old. So what's that period like for you?
- 2:53Speaker 3: Guys?
- 2:54Speaker 4: Do you listen back to it and thinking might have
- 2:56Speaker 4: done this differently or you couldn't have that better?
- 2:58Speaker 3: Order you put it to bed. Munster's finished and it
- 3:00Speaker 3: is what it is.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I think we were very happy. That is what I
- 3:05Speaker 2: can remember.
- 3:06Speaker 5: When we entered the studio and it was a very
- 3:12Speaker 5: joyful recording session, and we really liked doing that at
- 3:17Speaker 5: that time. And of course it takes a long while
- 3:20Speaker 5: to do the mixing and the preparation for the promotion
- 3:23Speaker 5: and all that. There's a bit of time and bit
- 3:25Speaker 5: of waiting, but most of the time we were kind
- 3:29Speaker 5: of joyful really, So it was a great time we
- 3:34Speaker 5: had in the career of the band so far. Conceiving
- 3:39Speaker 5: the songs and making the album. It was all very
- 3:43Speaker 5: intense and yeah, joyful.
- 3:46Speaker 2: I would say looking back to the last September and
- 3:51Speaker 2: listening to the songs today, I for myself would say
- 3:54Speaker 2: that I wouldn't change wouldn't change anything. So I think
- 3:59Speaker 2: we did the best for the songs and we achieved
- 4:02Speaker 2: a very very good recording and the final tunes are
- 4:07Speaker 2: really worked out well for me, and yeah, that's that's
- 4:13Speaker 2: the point for us.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Yeah, you sort of touched on this a little bit before,
- 4:18Speaker 4: but how does this album give musically to your debut album?
- 4:21Speaker 3: Have they got it? It came out in two.
- 4:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I think we wanted to to have more straightforward songs,
- 4:31Speaker 2: a little bit more rock songs that are not so
- 4:35Speaker 2: and kind of mellow, but we wanted to to have
- 4:40Speaker 2: more Yeah, more dust, more rock, more kick ass, and
- 4:46Speaker 2: I think without losing the typical trademarks of Wolf Skull,
- 4:53Speaker 2: and I think you can find them in any song.
- 4:57Speaker 2: So yeah, that was the the direction we thought we
- 5:01Speaker 2: wanted to go, and I think we we find now
- 5:07Speaker 2: a really yeah how do you say an album that
- 5:13Speaker 2: is yeah, that is working each song with.
- 5:18Speaker 5: An It seems that we found our formula maybe so
- 5:22Speaker 5: to speak, you know, and this could be the path
- 5:25Speaker 5: we would love to stay on and keep on doing that.
- 5:29Speaker 5: But I still love the Other Goddess record because it
- 5:33Speaker 5: was a very complex record and it had many different
- 5:40Speaker 5: styles we combined there, and it was a time of Corona,
- 5:44Speaker 5: a time of crisis, and.
- 5:47Speaker 6: There was a.
- 5:49Speaker 5: Lot of creativity surrounding that kind of atmosphere, but it
- 5:55Speaker 5: was more saddening for a few songs, and it was
- 6:01Speaker 5: more of the moodiness of that record and the melancholy
- 6:08Speaker 5: that we had there because of the crisis going on
- 6:10Speaker 5: in the whole world. And this time around there was
- 6:14Speaker 5: more It was more like, Okay, let's go and let's
- 6:16Speaker 5: rock it because we're happy that we're together and we
- 6:20Speaker 5: want to keep on doing that, you know. There was
- 6:22Speaker 5: more happiness to to Midnight Masters, I guess.
- 6:27Speaker 4: The artwork of the album, and they did strangely captivating
- 6:30Speaker 4: god like, it's got a full in with a couple
- 6:33Speaker 4: of floating naked women circling it, Like how does how
- 6:36Speaker 4: does that tie in with the actual album?
- 6:42Speaker 2: Yeah, this Pete was they had had the main idea
- 6:46Speaker 2: for this cover artwork, and yeah, you can say, I
- 6:50Speaker 2: think to have.
- 6:52Speaker 5: Kind of women in their in their sexiness and their kinkiness.
- 7:00Speaker 5: This has always been a big part of of rock.
- 7:04Speaker 2: And roll from a male perspective, so to say.
- 7:08Speaker 5: And I think Wolfska will always be about strong female characters.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Like Oar the Goddess was a very dark and spooky character.
- 7:23Speaker 5: We wanted to have a little more lightness and that's
- 7:27Speaker 5: what that's why we choose two girls kind of playing
- 7:33Speaker 5: like a couple or like in a dancing mood, like
- 7:37Speaker 5: in a in a female quality kind of ornament to
- 7:43Speaker 5: stand the test of time, because I think the female
- 7:47Speaker 5: quality will always be a great part of all songwriting
- 7:51Speaker 5: in a way.
- 7:53Speaker 2: So it's an homage.
- 7:54Speaker 5: To to to to female female greatness. So that's why
- 7:58Speaker 5: it came into my head to have that ornament.
- 8:02Speaker 3: That's exactly what I thought. It was to night, so
- 8:04Speaker 3: well done.
- 8:07Speaker 7: Perfect, Thank you now bent forward in Germany back in
- 8:12Speaker 7: twenty eighteen, guys, we don't know too much about the
- 8:15Speaker 7: German music scene here in Israel.
- 8:17Speaker 4: So was the musical climate like over there in that
- 8:20Speaker 4: time and that they birthed abandon Where did you sort
- 8:22Speaker 4: of fit in?
- 8:23Speaker 3: Initially?
- 8:24Speaker 5: I think the city of Essen, where you grew up
- 8:26Speaker 5: in was always a city of metal and punk and
- 8:29Speaker 5: really hard music. That what I can say is someone
- 8:33Speaker 5: who didn't live his whole life in Essen, but I
- 8:37Speaker 5: grew up a few kilometers more in the north and
- 8:41Speaker 5: we as young children, as metal kids or punk rockets,
- 8:45Speaker 5: we always considered especially Essen where you grew up, as
- 8:50Speaker 5: a typical kind of metal neighborhood, and I think it
- 8:54Speaker 5: takes a great influence on people who grew up there
- 8:57Speaker 5: like you too, to join that kind of scene.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Yeah, we we have the band's creator sodom Is living
- 9:08Speaker 2: in Essen, and yes they were fresh metal bands. And
- 9:12Speaker 2: we when I started playing music in the early nineties,
- 9:16Speaker 2: there were punk rock and hardcore and after that we
- 9:21Speaker 2: we Pete and I we joined we created the band
- 9:25Speaker 2: The Spook, which was kind of a misfits flavor horror
- 9:29Speaker 2: punk band, and we did it for more than ten years,
- 9:34Speaker 2: and I think the vibes we had in the early
- 9:38Speaker 2: days we always kept now with Wolfska, we we have
- 9:44Speaker 2: a flavor that is that is just happening when we
- 9:47Speaker 2: write music, and there's always a kind of yeah, creepy
- 9:56Speaker 2: melan collegue, a little bit of of yeah, maybe horror
- 10:03Speaker 2: stories and what Pete said about female characters. That's I
- 10:08Speaker 2: think that's the main thing about growing up and developing
- 10:15Speaker 2: one's own music style here.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Everywhere in the world.
- 10:20Speaker 4: But do you guys have any shows coming up to
- 10:23Speaker 4: promote the album?
- 10:26Speaker 2: Yeah, as I said, there's the record release show, which
- 10:30Speaker 2: is called a not Open Air in German in essence here,
- 10:35Speaker 2: which is a festival which takes place every year, and
- 10:41Speaker 2: we have a show planned in November, which is sometime
- 10:47Speaker 2: in the future, and we are working right now for
- 10:50Speaker 2: some some more shows for the release, so that's there
- 10:56Speaker 2: are no no dates fixed now, but we will post
- 11:00Speaker 2: them online in the near future.
- 11:03Speaker 3: Very nice.
- 11:04Speaker 4: Before you guy, guys, I've got a new segment I've
- 11:06Speaker 4: started called Fido Bombs. So basically I've trod through your
- 11:09Speaker 4: social media before you got a chat and I found
- 11:11Speaker 4: a few I just want to talk about a bit more.
- 11:14Speaker 3: So I found this right, Guys, do you remember what
- 11:17Speaker 3: venue this was in that looks like an.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Okay, yes, this was in Hamburg, which is called I
- 11:26Speaker 2: think the fabric Fabric? Is it correct, Pete, I didn't.
- 11:31Speaker 2: We played with the hamburging wrong with the transmission, I guess.
- 11:39Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I didn't quite understand what you were talking about.
- 11:44Speaker 2: Oh is it? This photo in the background is from
- 11:50Speaker 2: the show we played with skid Roll and this is
- 11:57Speaker 2: in Hamburg, and I think that the club is called
- 12:00Speaker 2: Chabli Public. Yeah, yeah, February.
- 12:05Speaker 3: To a Copia, Ye, a place like that.
- 12:10Speaker 2: Yeah, this is really Yeah, we we had the offer
- 12:14Speaker 2: to play with skid Row. I think they told us
- 12:16Speaker 2: four or five days ago before, and yeah, we joined
- 12:21Speaker 2: them and had two shows with them, and each shows
- 12:24Speaker 2: were were packed with I think maybe I eight hundred people.
- 12:29Speaker 2: And yeah, we had a really good, good show, really
- 12:33Speaker 2: good time playing.
- 12:35Speaker 4: This fair another one that is a little bit different
- 12:40Speaker 4: than that one.
- 12:43Speaker 3: What's going on here? You look like you're about punching
- 12:45Speaker 3: in the math.
- 12:49Speaker 2: Yeah, give, I didn't quite understand.
- 12:58Speaker 3: So what's gon on? It looks like you're about to
- 13:01Speaker 3: punch him straight in the mouth.
- 13:02Speaker 5: Yeah, it could happen, could happen from time to time.
- 13:05Speaker 5: But he is a trained boxer. Maybe I would be
- 13:10Speaker 5: his victim, but I'm not sure. Perfect someday I'm going
- 13:17Speaker 5: to punch him. It's only a matter of time, because
- 13:21Speaker 5: this is what rout and rolls all about, isn't it
- 13:23Speaker 5: making the first strike?
- 13:25Speaker 3: Now he knows it's coming. Now you've given him morning.
- 13:30Speaker 2: No, that's a lot. Whenever we get together.
- 13:33Speaker 5: In the band, we were always having a lot of
- 13:35Speaker 5: fun and having a great time, and there's no place
- 13:39Speaker 5: for aggression. We're almost like friends, almost like family.
- 13:46Speaker 3: Very nice, all right, gentlemen, Well thanks very much.
- 13:49Speaker 4: You saw on the album Midnight Masters is out touly
- 13:51Speaker 4: the twenty fifth and she's a bloody good oven.
