- 0:09Speaker 1: Hello everybody, what's going on? It's Jeff Mosher of Inside
- 0:11Speaker 1: the Birds. Welcome to our weekly NFL preview. It is
- 0:15Speaker 1: week five. You know what that means? We are more
- 0:18Speaker 1: than a quarter of the way through the NFL season.
- 0:22Speaker 1: It's amazing to me just how fast the NFL season
- 0:26Speaker 1: goes by and we are already zooming through. And usually
- 0:29Speaker 1: when you get this far and things don't work out
- 0:31Speaker 1: for teams the way they expect it, you start to
- 0:35Speaker 1: see changes and panic buttons pushed. And already in two cities,
- 0:40Speaker 1: you're seeing a panic button get a little bit pushed. Denver.
- 0:45Speaker 1: I mentioned this in the very first NFL Weekly Preview
- 0:49Speaker 1: show when I previewed the entire league. I said, watch
- 0:53Speaker 1: out for Denver. Sean Payton has surrendered the play calling.
- 0:58Speaker 1: For whatever reason, he decided he was going to give
- 1:00Speaker 1: the play calling to keep Davis Webb, probably to make
- 1:02Speaker 1: sure that Webb did not leave because he had a
- 1:04Speaker 1: bunch of head coaching interviews. But he is a very
- 1:07Speaker 1: prideful man, Sean Payton. And he does not want to
- 1:13Speaker 1: see his offense continue to falter as it has. So
- 1:17Speaker 1: one of the things I said, watch out. If things
- 1:19Speaker 1: don't go well, Sean Payton will take that offensive play
- 1:23Speaker 1: calling right back. And sure enough, he's doing that. He
- 1:26Speaker 1: is now going to start calling plays for the Broncos.
- 1:28Speaker 1: And hey, that's his right. You can say it's impatient.
- 1:31Speaker 1: You can say whatever you want. But that's a team
- 1:33Speaker 1: that has Super Bowl expectations high. Should have been in
- 1:36Speaker 1: the Super Bowl last year. And Sean Payton is looking
- 1:39Speaker 1: at his Broncos team. Really struggling to get the ball
- 1:42Speaker 1: to Jalen Waddell. And get off to a 2-2 start.
- 1:47Speaker 1: And already the Chiefs are in the division at 4-0.
- 1:49Speaker 1: So he is making the move. And then similarly in
- 1:54Speaker 1: Houston where it's just been inexplicable how bad the Texans
- 1:58Speaker 1: defense has been. D'Amico Ryans, the head coach, former Eagle.
- 2:03Speaker 1: He is going to assume position. play calling duties on defense.
- 2:07Speaker 1: He's taking that away from Matt Burke, who has been
- 2:10Speaker 1: his defensive coordinator for a couple of years now. So
- 2:13Speaker 1: it's kind of interesting. I guess he just feels that
- 2:16Speaker 1: even though the Texans have been very successful with Matt
- 2:18Speaker 1: Burke as the defensive coordinator, that they need to shake
- 2:21Speaker 1: it up. They need to change. They score points when
- 2:24Speaker 1: they have Nico Collins. And for the Texans, when they
- 2:27Speaker 1: score points, which doesn't happen a whole bunch, when they
- 2:31Speaker 1: score points like that, They've got to be able to
- 2:34Speaker 1: win games, but their defense has not been good for
- 2:37Speaker 1: all the talent that it has. It's been really leaky
- 2:39Speaker 1: in the back end. So now D'Amico Ryans will be
- 2:43Speaker 1: calling the plays. And as we start off looking at
- 2:46Speaker 1: week five, you know, I, speaking of play callers, it
- 2:49Speaker 1: has been a struggle for Christian Parker and the Dallas Cowboys.
- 2:54Speaker 1: It has not worked out well. I was wrong. I said,
- 2:56Speaker 1: I think a week ago that I thought I saw
- 2:59Speaker 1: some real improvement in Maybe not in the box score,
- 3:02Speaker 1: but watching the Cowboys play the Ravens, they had some
- 3:04Speaker 1: big stops on Derrick Henry. They were able to force
- 3:07Speaker 1: that game into overtime with some stops. And then, of course,
- 3:09Speaker 1: they had that collapse at the end of the game
- 3:15Speaker 1: where the Ravens got the big pass. But I thought
- 3:19Speaker 1: I had seen some changes, some more swarming to the
- 3:22Speaker 1: ball from the Cowboys. And clearly, clearly, I was wrong.
- 3:27Speaker 1: And now there's already questions in Dallas about Christian Parker
- 3:30Speaker 1: hiring him. Should he be calling plays? All of that
- 3:34Speaker 1: after that Thursday night debacle. And there's really no other
- 3:37Speaker 1: word to use other than debacle for what happened to
- 3:41Speaker 1: them at home against the Tampa Bay Bucs, a Bucs
- 3:43Speaker 1: team that was getting its undrafted rookie quarterback, Jalen Daniels
- 3:49Speaker 1: on the field for just the second time, just second start.
- 3:52Speaker 1: First one on the road in a place like Dallas
- 3:55Speaker 1: on short rest Thursday night game. I mean, the, circumstances
- 4:00Speaker 1: for a guy like that to succeed are just working
- 4:05Speaker 1: against him in every single way. And what did the
- 4:08Speaker 1: Cowboys do? They get torn up by Bucky Irving, 165
- 4:14Speaker 1: yards on the ground, which of course makes life easier
- 4:17Speaker 1: for your quarterback when you have a ground game like that.
- 4:20Speaker 1: And Jalen Daniels went into Dallas and they didn't have
- 4:23Speaker 1: an amazing game. He only passed for 189 yards and
- 4:25Speaker 1: a touchdown, but He ran a little bit, but listen,
- 4:30Speaker 1: he only, he did not throw an interception. Okay. He
- 4:34Speaker 1: did not have a fumble. So a guy like that
- 4:37Speaker 1: to not turn the ball over on the road in
- 4:39Speaker 1: his first ever road start and just second start overall
- 4:42Speaker 1: being undrafted, undrafted rookie. I mean, the Cowboys should be
- 4:47Speaker 1: ashamed of themselves, an absolute shameful performance on defense. And
- 4:53Speaker 1: I don't know how things turn around for them. If
- 4:55Speaker 1: they can't survive, if they cannot, Forget Flourish or Thrive.
- 4:59Speaker 1: If they just can't give you an average defensive effort
- 5:03Speaker 1: against that Bucs offense with that quarterback in their own house,
- 5:07Speaker 1: then I don't know what the solution for them is.
- 5:09Speaker 1: You can't bench everybody. And you watched that game, and
- 5:12Speaker 1: you just felt everybody was responsible. So Christian Parker certainly
- 5:16Speaker 1: has a lot of work ahead of him. And, you know,
- 5:19Speaker 1: good on the Bucs. They do save their season in
- 5:22Speaker 1: a sense, in the sense that they're 1-4. I thought
- 5:26Speaker 1: they would win the NFC South. obviously the Falcons are
- 5:30Speaker 1: off to a pretty good start. The Saints have won
- 5:32Speaker 1: a couple of games. Nothing's over. I think at 0-5,
- 5:36Speaker 1: that would have been a really, I mean, you'd have
- 5:39Speaker 1: to really squint to see them being competitive. But at 1-4,
- 5:43Speaker 1: and we'll see what happens with the Panthers, although there
- 5:47Speaker 1: is a bye week this week, a couple of teams
- 5:48Speaker 1: are off, but we'll see what happens with the Falcons
- 5:51Speaker 1: and everything like that. But they needed that win, the Bucs,
- 5:53Speaker 1: to save their season, and they got it. And we
- 5:56Speaker 1: will see, you know, maybe they'll get Mayfield back for
- 5:59Speaker 1: their next game and things will start to get better.
- 6:01Speaker 1: That was such a significant win for the Tampa Bay
- 6:05Speaker 1: Bucs and their season. All right, let's look around the league.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I'm not going to get into the 9.30 a.m. Eagles-Jaguars game.
- 6:11Speaker 1: You can check out the Inside the Birds pregame show
- 6:14Speaker 1: for all that. But this, you know, let's look. The
- 6:17Speaker 1: Eagles defense is a lot healthier now and they need
- 6:21Speaker 1: to carry the weight here. And it can't be a
- 6:23Speaker 1: situation where, they buckle in the fourth quarter because they're tired.
- 6:28Speaker 1: You know, if Vic Fangio has to rotate more guys
- 6:31Speaker 1: up front and even maybe get a linebacker rotation with
- 6:34Speaker 1: Campbell and Trotter, because Trotter played well last week when
- 6:38Speaker 1: Vaughn was out. And, you know, you want to rotate
- 6:40Speaker 1: your three linebackers, whatever it is. But this defense will
- 6:44Speaker 1: have to win the game. It'll have to create turnovers.
- 6:46Speaker 1: It will have to cause pressure. Sacks, it's got to stop.
- 6:51Speaker 1: the Jacksonville offense and give its own offense a chance
- 6:54Speaker 1: to just try to move the ball a little bit.
- 6:56Speaker 1: I mean, if you win 15 to 10, you win, okay?
- 6:59Speaker 1: It doesn't really matter if you just kick a bunch
- 7:01Speaker 1: of field goals and win the game. That has got
- 7:03Speaker 1: to be the mission for the Eagles defense in this game.
- 7:06Speaker 1: All right, 1 o'clock game. This game I was excited
- 7:10Speaker 1: about weeks ago going into the year, but now, listen,
- 7:16Speaker 1: I still think Bears at Packers in Green Bay– is
- 7:19Speaker 1: an exciting game. These teams don't like each other. The
- 7:24Speaker 1: Bears embarrassed the Packers last year with comeback wins. And
- 7:29Speaker 1: by winning the NFC North, I mean, the Packers had
- 7:31Speaker 1: them on the ropes and could not knock them out.
- 7:33Speaker 1: The Bears kept coming back, coming back, and winning the game, okay,
- 7:36Speaker 1: including in the playoffs. And, you know, Ben Johnson has
- 7:39Speaker 1: not made it a secret that he doesn't like the Packers.
- 7:43Speaker 1: He's been cursing them out in the locker room. So
- 7:45Speaker 1: there is no love lost between Ben Johnson and Matt LaFleur,
- 7:49Speaker 1: that adds to the game, to the rivalry. But unfortunately,
- 7:53Speaker 1: right now, the Packers stink. They are 2-2, but that
- 7:58Speaker 1: is sort of, to me, a mirage. I mean, they've
- 8:01Speaker 1: beaten the Jets, and they've beaten the Bucs, and they
- 8:06Speaker 1: barely have done both. I mean, those were very close games.
- 8:09Speaker 1: They beat each team by three. Meanwhile, they got throttled
- 8:11Speaker 1: by the Vikings and throttled by the Falcons. They have
- 8:14Speaker 1: a lot of injury issues. They have a no-running game.
- 8:18Speaker 1: And I just, do I think this game will be
- 8:21Speaker 1: close with the Bears being one and a half point favorites?
- 8:24Speaker 1: I can see why the Bears are only favored by
- 8:27Speaker 1: one and a half because it's A, it's in Green
- 8:28Speaker 1: Bay and B, it's an NFC North battle. I mean, again,
- 8:31Speaker 1: these teams don't like each other. So I think it'll
- 8:34Speaker 1: be a competitive game, even though the Bears are on
- 8:37Speaker 1: a roll. The Bears will be without Menunga. He's got
- 8:40Speaker 1: turf toe, but they could get Caleb Williams back. I
- 8:43Speaker 1: think they're expecting to have Caleb Williams back. The weather's
- 8:46Speaker 1: going to be nice in Green Bay. We haven't gotten
- 8:48Speaker 1: to a point yet where that becomes an element. So
- 8:52Speaker 1: you got to like the Bears. They're on a heck
- 8:55Speaker 1: of a roll and they could get Caleb Williams back
- 8:57Speaker 1: or they will get Caleb Williams back. They're getting the
- 9:00Speaker 1: Packers at a great time. But again, right now the
- 9:05Speaker 1: Bears look like a team that's at least seven and
- 9:07Speaker 1: a half points favorite over the Packers, but it's only
- 9:11Speaker 1: one and a half point for a reason. This is
- 9:13Speaker 1: a rivalry game. They don't like each other. The Packers
- 9:15Speaker 1: can ugly it up. They really got to get Micah
- 9:19Speaker 1: Parsons back on the field when they can, and they
- 9:21Speaker 1: just need a running game. They have a terrible, terrible
- 9:24Speaker 1: running game, and that's the whole identity of the Packers.
- 9:27Speaker 1: If they can't run the ball, you just take their
- 9:29Speaker 1: identity away, and they're a totally different and much more
- 9:32Speaker 1: ineffectual team. All right. Texans at Titans. Now, I told
- 9:38Speaker 1: you about D'Amico Ryans. He's going to assume play calling.
- 9:42Speaker 1: That tends to have an impact short-term more than long-term.
- 9:46Speaker 1: You know, where you see a change in play caller
- 9:49Speaker 1: and it's kind of a message to the unit and
- 9:51Speaker 1: then they play well for a couple of weeks. And
- 9:53Speaker 1: then sometimes you'll see that only has a short-term impact,
- 9:57Speaker 1: but the Texans have so much talent on defense that
- 10:00Speaker 1: it really shouldn't be a short-term impact. They should just
- 10:02Speaker 1: play better. Uh, and they need to beat the Titans
- 10:05Speaker 1: to save their season. The game is in Tennessee. The
- 10:08Speaker 1: Texans are owned for Titans are owned for Houston is
- 10:12Speaker 1: a seven point favorite. Um, last week, Nico Collins had
- 10:17Speaker 1: a big game for the Texans, right? Um, and they
- 10:20Speaker 1: still lost. They lost to the Cowboys 34-30, even though
- 10:23Speaker 1: Collins came back and had a big game. When Collins plays,
- 10:26Speaker 1: they can score. They had 31 against the Bills in
- 10:30Speaker 1: week one. They lost 36-31, 20 points against the Bengals. No, no,
- 10:34Speaker 1: I'm sorry. I think the Bengals game is where he
- 10:36Speaker 1: got hurt. But either way, when Nico Collins plays, they
- 10:39Speaker 1: score points. That's why they need their defense to absolutely
- 10:43Speaker 1: play like the Texans defense that we've seen over the
- 10:46Speaker 1: last few years. I mean, they should really bury this
- 10:49Speaker 1: Titans team. But I will say, watch what Kim Ward
- 10:52Speaker 1: and Carnell Tate are starting to connect. I know Tate
- 10:55Speaker 1: had a big game last week. He had over 100 yards.
- 11:00Speaker 1: So he's starting to heat up a little bit. He
- 11:04Speaker 1: had 145 yards on nine catches. So if that happens
- 11:07Speaker 1: against the Texans, then I don't know what's going to
- 11:11Speaker 1: be the solution for them. I've just been mind boggled
- 11:14Speaker 1: by how poorly the Texans have played on defense this year.
- 11:19Speaker 1: One o'clock game. By the way, there's not a lot
- 11:21Speaker 1: of great games this week. Packers-Bears could have been great
- 11:25Speaker 1: in theory, but it's just like I said with the
- 11:27Speaker 1: Packers right now, that's not a great game. Bengals at Miami.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Miami's 0-4. The Bengals are 2-2. It sounds like Higgins
- 11:36Speaker 1: and Chase are going to play. I know that Chase
- 11:40Speaker 1: was in the concussion protocol, but he was out on
- 11:43Speaker 1: the practice field. We have to see if he gets cleared. Um,
- 11:47Speaker 1: and Higgins was kind of considered day to day with
- 11:50Speaker 1: a lower body issue. And, you know, if those guys play,
- 11:53Speaker 1: then it's, it's easy business. They're both questionable. So we'll see.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I mean, if those guys play, then the Bengals take
- 12:01Speaker 1: care of this game without a problem because the dolphins
- 12:04Speaker 1: are that bad. Uh, if they don't play, I still
- 12:06Speaker 1: think they can beat the dolphins, but probably have to
- 12:09Speaker 1: move the ball a little bit differently. Not as explosive.
- 12:11Speaker 1: You know, you run with Chase Brown, you throw to, um,
- 12:15Speaker 1: Throw to Jaceki. He'll probably become the top target there
- 12:17Speaker 1: because they have Yoshevis out. That's their slot receiver. He's
- 12:20Speaker 1: been out. So, I mean, if Higgins and Chase were
- 12:24Speaker 1: not to play, they would really, really be depleted in
- 12:27Speaker 1: the wide receiver core. But either way, I think Jaceki
- 12:30Speaker 1: will be a big element for them against the Dolphins. Raiders, Patriots.
- 12:36Speaker 1: The Patriots are three-and-a-half point favorites. Got a huge, huge
- 12:40Speaker 1: win last week against the Buffalo Bills. I don't think
- 12:44Speaker 1: that Drake May is someone we can say yet has
- 12:47Speaker 1: turned his season around. He still had some issues with turnovers,
- 12:52Speaker 1: even against the Bills. The Bills' defense is not great.
- 12:55Speaker 1: We'll get to them in a minute. But they did
- 12:58Speaker 1: win the game. That was important for them. They're figuring
- 13:01Speaker 1: some things out here. And now they play a Raiders
- 13:04Speaker 1: team that, if you remember, only won three games last year.
- 13:07Speaker 1: One of them was in New England. I think it
- 13:09Speaker 1: was week one. The Raiders went to New England and
- 13:11Speaker 1: won and People thought, hey, New England stinks and the Raiders,
- 13:15Speaker 1: maybe they're better. And then it turns out the Raiders
- 13:17Speaker 1: win three games and the Patriots go to the Super Bowl.
- 13:21Speaker 1: The Raiders come off their first loss. They played a
- 13:23Speaker 1: very competitive game against the Chiefs. That game was there
- 13:28Speaker 1: to be won for them. They could not pull it out.
- 13:31Speaker 1: So to me, they are for real. They're getting very
- 13:33Speaker 1: good play calling from both their offensive coordinator slash head coach,
- 13:38Speaker 1: who is, well, he's their head coach. He calls the plays.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Clint Kubiak. Rob Leonard doing a great job with the defense.
- 13:44Speaker 1: I mean, the Raiders are a tough, competitive team, and
- 13:48Speaker 1: they're going to go back to a place that they
- 13:49Speaker 1: won last year, but they're better. Jenty's a little banged up,
- 13:54Speaker 1: but Brock Bowers is just, if you get a chance
- 13:57Speaker 1: to watch this guy on a weekly basis, and a
- 13:59Speaker 1: lot of people don't because of the market size and
- 14:02Speaker 1: the Raiders aren't on prime time a lot, but Brock
- 14:05Speaker 1: Bowers is incredible. So the Patriots are three and a
- 14:08Speaker 1: half point favorites here. really got to start for them
- 14:12Speaker 1: to get back. You know, they were loss, win, loss, win.
- 14:15Speaker 1: They really got to string together. I mean, you would
- 14:18Speaker 1: hate if you were a Patriots fan, you go and
- 14:20Speaker 1: beat the Bills. You feel you won two out of
- 14:22Speaker 1: your last three. You feel like you're getting right. You
- 14:25Speaker 1: can't take a step back and lose to the Raiders,
- 14:27Speaker 1: even though this is a good Raiders team. So it
- 14:30Speaker 1: should be actually one of the better one o'clock games
- 14:33Speaker 1: on the slate. Vikings at Saints. Interesting game. The Saints
- 14:38Speaker 1: are one in three. the Vikings are 4-0. Now, the
- 14:43Speaker 1: Vikings are not the best team in the NFL. I mean,
- 14:47Speaker 1: if you were to look at who the best teams
- 14:49Speaker 1: are in the NFL after the first four weeks, the
- 14:52Speaker 1: teams with the best records are Minnesota at 4-0, the
- 14:56Speaker 1: Niners at 4-0. You've got a Cleveland Browns team that
- 15:02Speaker 1: is 3-1. You got, who else is 3-1? Vegas, I
- 15:05Speaker 1: just mentioned, is 3-1. The Bears are 3-1. Um, I
- 15:09Speaker 1: still think the best teams are the Seahawks, the Rams.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I think the Ravens, they're going to come together. I
- 15:18Speaker 1: think Juergens is actually going to play. They overpaid for him.
- 15:20Speaker 1: But I think once he gets back to center and
- 15:23Speaker 1: starts playing his natural position, he won't be what he
- 15:25Speaker 1: was two or three years ago. But I think in
- 15:28Speaker 1: that offense, Juergens will help. I think the Ravens are
- 15:31Speaker 1: a really good team. Jaguars, we'll see what happens against
- 15:34Speaker 1: the Eagles. If they win, they're certainly– But, you know,
- 15:37Speaker 1: Minnesota's offense is terrible. It's just not very good. Kyler
- 15:41Speaker 1: Murray hasn't really taken to it quite yet. And the
- 15:44Speaker 1: Saints have a very– I mean, Chuck is off to
- 15:46Speaker 1: a great start, but they can't stop anybody in the
- 15:50Speaker 1: second half. I mean, they really– all game. I mean,
- 15:54Speaker 1: they've given up 80 points over the last two weeks.
- 15:58Speaker 1: 80 points from– to the Raiders and the Falcons. Okay,
- 16:03Speaker 1: so– Their defense, and I said this going into the
- 16:06Speaker 1: year when I did the whole NFL preview, they played
- 16:09Speaker 1: good defense at the end of last year. I thought
- 16:11Speaker 1: it was a little bit paper tigerish. I thought it
- 16:14Speaker 1: was a little bit, but they were just taking teams
- 16:15Speaker 1: by surprise. They made the move to shuck. They got
- 16:18Speaker 1: some nice, I guess, momentum from it. And their defense,
- 16:23Speaker 1: Brandon Staley did a good job with it. But so
- 16:25Speaker 1: far this year. They gave up 31 points to the Lions.
- 16:29Speaker 1: They gave up only 17 to the Ravens, but then
- 16:31Speaker 1: they gave up 35 to the Raiders and 45, excuse me,
- 16:34Speaker 1: to the Falcons. So they have got to get their
- 16:39Speaker 1: defense in order if they're going to win. Now they're
- 16:42Speaker 1: playing a Vikings team that has a bad offense. So
- 16:45Speaker 1: maybe this will be a good tonic for them. The
- 16:47Speaker 1: Vikings are two and a half point favorites. I would
- 16:51Speaker 1: say that I still think that the Saints can pull
- 16:57Speaker 1: this one out. All right, let's move on. Browns versus Jets,
- 17:04Speaker 1: all right? The Cleveland Browns are 3-1. Who could believe that?
- 17:08Speaker 1: I think everybody thought at this point the Browns would
- 17:10Speaker 1: be on Shador Sanders. Obviously, they're not, and they are
- 17:13Speaker 1: tied for the AFC North lead, and they get to
- 17:17Speaker 1: travel to go play the Jets, who are 1-3, The
- 17:21Speaker 1: Jets are trying to end this streak of, I guess,
- 17:24Speaker 1: what they think are moral victories where they're in games,
- 17:27Speaker 1: but they lose. They lost to the Packers by three.
- 17:29Speaker 1: They lost to the Lions by a touchdown. I guess
- 17:34Speaker 1: you look at this Bears game. I got to read
- 17:35Speaker 1: you the stat. They lost to the Bears 23-12. So, okay,
- 17:39Speaker 1: it's a double-digit loss. It doesn't feel like a blowout
- 17:42Speaker 1: when you lose 23-12. But listen to this stat. The
- 17:44Speaker 1: Bears had 492 yards of offense. against the Jets. The
- 17:52Speaker 1: Jets had 157 yards of offense. To almost get 500
- 17:57Speaker 1: yards and be outgained, I'm sorry, almost give up 500 yards,
- 18:02Speaker 1: and to be outgained by about 350 yards is about
- 18:06Speaker 1: as one-sided as a game can go. So unfortunately for
- 18:10Speaker 1: the Jets, who are trying to get some positive momentum
- 18:13Speaker 1: after that week one win against the Titans, where they
- 18:16Speaker 1: really went in and ransacked the Titans, they've lost three
- 18:19Speaker 1: straight And if you thought the Browns going into the year, hey,
- 18:22Speaker 1: you look at the schedule and you say Jets-Browns, maybe
- 18:24Speaker 1: the Jets win that game because they're at home and
- 18:27Speaker 1: the Browns are the Browns. Well, the Browns are not
- 18:29Speaker 1: the Browns. So if the Jets fall to one and four,
- 18:32Speaker 1: it's going to feel like the same old Jets and
- 18:34Speaker 1: the Browns win. That would put them at four and
- 18:37Speaker 1: one and they would easily be one of the biggest
- 18:40Speaker 1: surprises of the 2026 season. Jets are two and a
- 18:45Speaker 1: half point favorites, though, which is very interesting given the
- 18:48Speaker 1: situations facing both teams it feels like that means that
- 18:52Speaker 1: the sportsbooks don't yet believe that the Browns are really
- 18:56Speaker 1: that good as well Colts at Steelers one o'clock game
- 19:00Speaker 1: now the Steelers are two and two they're not going
- 19:03Speaker 1: to have Michael Pittman he's been hurt so that takes
- 19:06Speaker 1: away a major weapon in their game they're coming off
- 19:08Speaker 1: a rough loss against the Browns they've been win loss
- 19:11Speaker 1: win loss since the start of the season facing a
- 19:15Speaker 1: Colts team that is very one-dimensional At the moment, they're
- 19:18Speaker 1: obviously getting a lot of mileage, of course, out of
- 19:20Speaker 1: Jonathan Taylor. Looks like Daniel Jones, even though he made
- 19:23Speaker 1: a very good recovery to come back, he's just been
- 19:28Speaker 1: okay this season. They kind of got a gift out
- 19:31Speaker 1: there against the Commanders. I think that was in London.
- 19:36Speaker 1: The Commanders were down to their third string running back,
- 19:38Speaker 1: so the Colts wound up rolling over them. So this
- 19:42Speaker 1: will be a little bit more of a little more
- 19:45Speaker 1: competitive game. And I just think it's two teams right
- 19:48Speaker 1: now that are trying to find their offensive identity. The Steelers,
- 19:52Speaker 1: I think they're getting Dowdle, Rico Dowdle back for the game.
- 19:55Speaker 1: So might give them a little bit more of a
- 19:57Speaker 1: one-two punch in their running game with Dowdle and Jalen Warren.
- 20:00Speaker 1: But missing Pittman is going to be tough. It's been
- 20:02Speaker 1: nice to see their slot receiver, Roman Wilson out of Michigan.
- 20:06Speaker 1: Come on. I mean, the Steelers wanted a third receiver
- 20:10Speaker 1: in the worst way. We all know now that they
- 20:12Speaker 1: wanted Makai Lemon. The Eagles traded up and stole him away.
- 20:15Speaker 1: But right now the Steelers' offense just, it's kind of
- 20:20Speaker 1: eh right now. And so the Colts, same thing though.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Their passing offense is eh. They're riding Jonathan Taylor as
- 20:27Speaker 1: they always do. He's a tremendous player. These are kind
- 20:30Speaker 1: of just two teams that are, you know, like to
- 20:32Speaker 1: be built in the trenches, like to run the ball,
- 20:35Speaker 1: have quarterbacks who are limited in what they can do.
- 20:39Speaker 1: And I expect it to be a pretty close game.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Steelers are three point favorites at home. Coin flip game
- 20:44Speaker 1: for me. Commanders are at home against the Giants. And listen,
- 20:49Speaker 1: if the commanders are going to have any kind of
- 20:53Speaker 1: prayer to be respectable this year, they get Jaden Daniels back.
- 20:58Speaker 1: You know, he might be different. He may not run
- 21:00Speaker 1: as much because of the left elbow, but at least
- 21:03Speaker 1: he's going to play. I believe Diggs won't. So that
- 21:06Speaker 1: takes something away from their offensive weaponry, but I'm sure
- 21:10Speaker 1: they're happy to have Daniels back. They're facing a Giants
- 21:13Speaker 1: team that is 3-1, but I don't really think anybody
- 21:16Speaker 1: thinks the Giants are that good of a team. They've
- 21:19Speaker 1: beaten the Cardinals. They've beaten the Titans. They did get
- 21:22Speaker 1: the week one win against the Cowboys. I mean, the
- 21:26Speaker 1: schedule sets up well for them. If they win this
- 21:27Speaker 1: game and they go to 4-1, Their next three opponents
- 21:31Speaker 1: are Saints, then Texans, then Eagles. So four and one,
- 21:35Speaker 1: you think maybe they can win one or two of
- 21:37Speaker 1: those games in that three game stretch. So it sets
- 21:40Speaker 1: up well for the Giants to be competitive for the
- 21:43Speaker 1: first half of the year. But I don't look at
- 21:46Speaker 1: the Giants. I mean, again, losing Brian Burns for the
- 21:49Speaker 1: season really hurts. And the commanders are going to play
- 21:52Speaker 1: like their seasons on the line this week at home,
- 21:55Speaker 1: getting their quarterback back. If the quarterback can just stay healthy,
- 21:59Speaker 1: Can we just see what the Commanders can be if
- 22:02Speaker 1: Daniels can actually play and stay on the field for
- 22:04Speaker 1: a little bit? They are three-and-a-half-point favorites. This is, I
- 22:08Speaker 1: don't know how many games I've already gone through with you,
- 22:10Speaker 1: but this is another team with a worse record that
- 22:13Speaker 1: is still favored because they are at home. So the
- 22:17Speaker 1: Jets are favored over the Browns despite having a worse record.
- 22:20Speaker 1: Commanders are favored over the Giants despite having a worse record.
- 22:23Speaker 1: The Saints are one and three. No, I'm sorry. The
- 22:26Speaker 1: Saints are underdogs at home. My fault on that. But
- 22:29Speaker 1: it's just, it's interesting to see that. And those are
- 22:33Speaker 1: the 1 o'clock games. So the 4 o'clock games. Hey,

- 25:39Speaker 1: I've said this for weeks now. I don't understand. The
- 25:41Speaker 1: Mike McDaniel experiment has failed horrifically for the Chargers. They
- 25:46Speaker 1: are 0-4. I always think an 0-4 team that has
- 25:50Speaker 1: talent and was in the playoffs the year before is dangerous.
- 25:53Speaker 1: So I'm guessing that's why the Broncos and Sean Payton
- 25:57Speaker 1: decided that they were going to make a change to
- 25:59Speaker 1: play caller there because they're not looking at the Chargers
- 26:03Speaker 1: and 0-14. The Chargers did score 23 points in their
- 26:06Speaker 1: loss to the Seahawks last week. So I guess that
- 26:08Speaker 1: was a mild improvement. They hadn't cracked 20 points yet
- 26:12Speaker 1: this year, but the bottom line is they're 0-4. They
- 26:15Speaker 1: can't lose this game. If the Chargers lose this game
- 26:19Speaker 1: and go to 0-5, I mean, they're already a long
- 26:21Speaker 1: shot now at 0-4. I know the percentages are way
- 26:24Speaker 1: against them, but I think if this team gets to 0-5,
- 26:29Speaker 1: you might see one of the earlier firings of an
- 26:32Speaker 1: offensive coordinator that you've seen, especially a a guy who
- 26:35Speaker 1: was just hired because if they fall to 0-5, heads
- 26:39Speaker 1: are going to roll. It's going to be– it's not
- 26:42Speaker 1: going to be pretty for the Chargers, and I don't
- 26:44Speaker 1: know where they go if they fall to 0-5 with
- 26:46Speaker 1: the Mike McDaniel experiment because it clearly has not worked.
- 26:51Speaker 1: The Broncos have a chance to, again, with the new
- 26:54Speaker 1: play caller, get their offense straight. To me, it's really
- 26:57Speaker 1: just about getting the ball more to Jalen Waddell, trying
- 27:01Speaker 1: to generate more explosive plays. Bo Nix is Bo Nix.
- 27:05Speaker 1: He's going to be that guy who has a couple
- 27:08Speaker 1: of quarters where he looks like he's a top five quarterback,
- 27:11Speaker 1: and then he's going to have a couple of quarters
- 27:13Speaker 1: where he looks like he's 15 to 20. I mean,
- 27:16Speaker 1: he's not perfect by any stretch of the means. He's
- 27:21Speaker 1: very inconsistent. He's very volatile. And I'm thinking that Sean
- 27:26Speaker 1: Payton thinks that he's got a better finger on the
- 27:29Speaker 1: pulse as to what is going to get more consistent
- 27:32Speaker 1: play out of Bo Nix. I don't think anybody expects
- 27:35Speaker 1: them to get top five quarterback play from Bo Nix
- 27:39Speaker 1: week in and week out. He is what he is,
- 27:42Speaker 1: but it sure seems like Sean Payton feels he's got
- 27:44Speaker 1: a better idea of how to get the best of
- 27:47Speaker 1: Bo Nix. And that's why he's taken back the play calling.
- 27:50Speaker 1: The Broncos are three and a half point favorites in
- 27:53Speaker 1: this game. Lions Cardinals in Arizona. The Lions are five
- 27:58Speaker 1: and a half point favorites in, I expect a lot
- 28:01Speaker 1: of points to be scored in this game. The Cardinals
- 28:03Speaker 1: can score. Now, they can't stop anybody, and that's basically
- 28:06Speaker 1: the Lions as well. I mean, these teams know how
- 28:08Speaker 1: to go up and down the field. Now, the Cardinals
- 28:10Speaker 1: have traded Marvin Harrison Jr., apparently, so they'll be without him,
- 28:16Speaker 1: but he wasn't a big part of their offense to
- 28:18Speaker 1: begin with. They, at some point, are probably going to
- 28:23Speaker 1: go to their backup, Carson Beck, If they continue to
- 28:29Speaker 1: lose games, I think you will see Carson Beck over
- 28:32Speaker 1: Brissette going forward. But as of now, that's not the case.
- 28:36Speaker 1: But it would not surprise me if the Cardinals fall
- 28:39Speaker 1: to 1-4, especially if they get blown out in this
- 28:42Speaker 1: game against the Lions, because you've got to score to
- 28:44Speaker 1: keep up with the Lions. Lions are getting a little healthier,
- 28:47Speaker 1: but they still are missing their big safeties. And until then,
- 28:51Speaker 1: they're just going to have to outscore all the opponents.
- 28:55Speaker 1: 49ers-Seahawks is probably the best game Of this week, the
- 29:00Speaker 1: Niners are 4-0, the Seahawks are 3-1. Seattle is home.
- 29:04Speaker 1: They are a three-point favorite. I think that the 49ers
- 29:08Speaker 1: are a very good team, but at 4-0, I would
- 29:11Speaker 1: not still put them in my top three. I just
- 29:14Speaker 1: think that their old guys are playing great. I don't
- 29:17Speaker 1: know how long that will keep going. Of course, Shanahan's great.
- 29:21Speaker 1: I think Kyle Ushik's out of the game. And you
- 29:22Speaker 1: know what? He's a big, big part of their offense
- 29:25Speaker 1: that doesn't show up in a box score, just from
- 29:27Speaker 1: a formation standpoint, a versatility standpoint, a blocking standpoint. But
- 29:32Speaker 1: the one thing that's been incredible for the Niners is
- 29:34Speaker 1: how well George Kittle has played, given that he tore
- 29:37Speaker 1: his Achilles in January against the Eagles in the playoffs.
- 29:39Speaker 1: He has come back and looked like he's 10 years
- 29:43Speaker 1: younger than he is. I mean, he's in his mid-30s.
- 29:45Speaker 1: He's playing like he's in his mid-20s. He's catching touchdowns.
- 29:48Speaker 1: He's blocking. He's helping the running game. He has really
- 29:51Speaker 1: been a big, a huge player for that 49ers offense
- 29:55Speaker 1: and Seattle hasn't been as good defensively as you would expect.
- 30:02Speaker 1: I think that that will get better. They're going through
- 30:05Speaker 1: the Super Bowl hangover thing. They had a bad loss
- 30:09Speaker 1: two weeks ago against the Commanders, came back and beat
- 30:11Speaker 1: the Chargers. This game will be, to me, it doesn't
- 30:16Speaker 1: matter who wins. I think that they're both really good teams.
- 30:19Speaker 1: I would give Seattle the slight edge because they're at home.
- 30:23Speaker 1: I do think these teams know each other well, so
- 30:25Speaker 1: I think Seattle will have I think you'll see a
- 30:29Speaker 1: little bit better of a defensive effort for them, especially
- 30:32Speaker 1: since they know what's on the line here as the
- 30:34Speaker 1: Niners are off to an undefeated start. But it should
- 30:37Speaker 1: be a fantastic game. Ah, the Sunday night game, maybe
- 30:40Speaker 1: not so much because it's Ravens-Falcons and Lamar Jackson's going
- 30:45Speaker 1: to be out for the Ravens. Now, Huntley has been
- 30:47Speaker 1: a good backup for them for a while. He knows
- 30:50Speaker 1: the offense. And honestly, the Ravens have looked really good
- 30:55Speaker 1: And I do think, even though Juergens won't play in
- 30:57Speaker 1: this game, he'll join them probably for the week after.
- 30:59Speaker 1: I think him playing center, they were down three centers.
- 31:03Speaker 1: You can say they overpaid. They absolutely did. But you
- 31:06Speaker 1: remember the Eagles overpaid when they traded for Jahan Dotson
- 31:10Speaker 1: to catch like 13 balls in 2024? And they won
- 31:14Speaker 1: the Super Bowl. If you think you're a Super Bowl
- 31:16Speaker 1: team and you have one glaring deficiency and you can
- 31:21Speaker 1: fill it with a player who's you think is good
- 31:25Speaker 1: enough to help you win that Superbowl, even if he's
- 31:27Speaker 1: not a great player, then an overpay, I suppose is
- 31:31Speaker 1: worth it. You know, I mean, the Eagles did it
- 31:33Speaker 1: again with John Dotson. Other teams have done it as well.
- 31:36Speaker 1: If it means you think you're got a better shot
- 31:38Speaker 1: to win it all because of it, then the overpay
- 31:41Speaker 1: makes sense. So we'll see how the Ravens do going forward.
- 31:45Speaker 1: They're three and one again, they won't have Lamar Jackson.
- 31:48Speaker 1: So there'll be a little bit limited offensively and what
- 31:51Speaker 1: they do. We'll see. We'll get a chance to see
- 31:53Speaker 1: what Declan Doyle can, do from a scheme standpoint when
- 31:56Speaker 1: he doesn't have Lamar and Hey, it's a primetime game.
- 31:59Speaker 1: So you got to like Bijan Robinson with the Falcons.
- 32:01Speaker 1: Apparently all Bijan Robinson does is rack. I mean, he's
- 32:04Speaker 1: a great running back even off primetime, but when he's
- 32:07Speaker 1: on primetime, he's even better. You guys saw that in
- 32:09Speaker 1: the Thursday night game a couple of weeks ago. I mean,
- 32:12Speaker 1: this kid can, he's an amazing running back. He is
- 32:15Speaker 1: the best running back in the league. And I don't,
- 32:19Speaker 1: Gibbs is really good, but I just think Bijan Robinson is,
- 32:23Speaker 1: just checks off every single box. The Falcons' offense has
- 32:27Speaker 1: played a lot better since Michael Penix came back. He's
- 32:30Speaker 1: been able to find Drake London. They're really kind of
- 32:33Speaker 1: a B. John Drake offense. There's really not a whole
- 32:36Speaker 1: lot more to it. Not too many guys are going
- 32:38Speaker 1: to be involved. But over the last two weeks, the
- 32:41Speaker 1: Falcons have scored 80 points, and they've only given up
- 32:44Speaker 1: 48 points. So I don't know if a lopsided trend
- 32:48Speaker 1: like that is going to continue against the Ravens. I
- 32:50Speaker 1: actually like that. I probably like the Ravens in this game,
- 32:55Speaker 1: even though the Falcons are three point favorites. I really
- 32:57Speaker 1: don't know what to expect without Lamar, but the Ravens
- 32:59Speaker 1: had have had to play without Lamar before. It's not
- 33:02Speaker 1: going to be total culture shock for them. And I
- 33:05Speaker 1: do think the Falcons in their victories have, you know,
- 33:09Speaker 1: they scored a lot of points. But, you know, again,
- 33:12Speaker 1: Packers and Saints are not playing great football right now.
- 33:15Speaker 1: So I don't know how much to put in to
- 33:17Speaker 1: those last two wins for the Falcons. Then, of course,
- 33:20Speaker 1: you have the Monday night game. Bill's Rams. All right.
- 33:22Speaker 1: Whatever the total on that game is 54 and a half.
- 33:25Speaker 1: That might be reached by halftime. I mean, these teams
- 33:29Speaker 1: are going to go up and down the field against
- 33:31Speaker 1: each other. It looks like Donald will play for the Rams.
- 33:34Speaker 1: They won't be really complete until they get Myles Garrett back.
- 33:37Speaker 1: Rams defense is pretty good, though. But I still think
- 33:41Speaker 1: the Bills can move the ball as well as anybody.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Allen has struggled a little bit lately. He was off
- 33:45Speaker 1: to a hot start, but he struggled a little bit
- 33:48Speaker 1: against the Patriots there. They got to get their run
- 33:50Speaker 1: game going. When the Bills get away from James Cook,
- 33:55Speaker 1: who compliments– well, him and Josh Allen compliment each other
- 33:58Speaker 1: in the running game very well. But sometimes they get
- 34:01Speaker 1: away from it and it bites them in the rear end.
- 34:03Speaker 1: I think that's what happened against the Patriots. So they've
- 34:05Speaker 1: got to get their running game back, which I think
- 34:08Speaker 1: that they'll attempt to do against the Rams. And, you know,
- 34:11Speaker 1: the Rams now have Puka Nakua. You saw how they
- 34:14Speaker 1: went up and down the field in the fourth quarter
- 34:15Speaker 1: against the Eagles. When you have Nakua healthy, when you
- 34:18Speaker 1: have Adams healthy– the tight ends, Kyron Williams. I expect
- 34:22Speaker 1: the Rams now to start to make a little bit
- 34:25Speaker 1: of a run. This won't be an easy game. But
- 34:28Speaker 1: if they do beat the Bills and they get to 3-2,
- 34:30Speaker 1: then you've got Cardinals, Raiders, Chargers, Commanders, Cardinals again. I mean,
- 34:37Speaker 1: there's room for Packers. They're playing a lot of teams
- 34:40Speaker 1: that just aren't playing good football over the next six
- 34:43Speaker 1: or seven weeks. I mean, their toughest opponent will be
- 34:45Speaker 1: the Raiders. So this is the time where I think
- 34:48Speaker 1: the Rams– are going to start to make their move.
- 34:51Speaker 1: And really this is their home. They're coming off a
- 34:54Speaker 1: big win against the Eagles. Bill's coming off a loss.
- 34:58Speaker 1: So it should be a really good game. Should be
- 34:59Speaker 1: a lot of points being scored. But obviously if the
- 35:03Speaker 1: Rams win, I would think that that's going to be
- 35:05Speaker 1: the start of them stringing together a bunch of wins
- 35:08Speaker 1: and starting to assert themselves again as the team that
- 35:11Speaker 1: people thought they were going to be going into the year.
- 35:15Speaker 1: So that's a look at the NFL slate. Let's go
- 35:19Speaker 1: with my picks. Hey, Philly fans. Game day is stressful enough. Parking, traffic,
- 35:24Speaker 1: long lines. We've all been there. But when it comes

- 36:05Speaker 1: even show love to the community with specials for fans, students,
- 36:09Speaker 1: service members, and healthcare pros. Camden Apothecary, top quality cannabis,
- 36:14Speaker 1: great prices, and an experience made for Philly fans 21
- 36:17Speaker 1: and up. Okay, last week I was one and two,
- 36:22Speaker 1: and how close was I to being two and one?
- 36:25Speaker 1: I had taken the Packers to cover three and a
- 36:28Speaker 1: half against the Bucs and they won by three. So
- 36:32Speaker 1: if they had won by one more point, I'm two
- 36:34Speaker 1: and one and I have a better record. Instead, I
- 36:36Speaker 1: was one and two and so now I'm four and
- 36:38Speaker 1: eight on the year. Here are my three games. I
- 36:43Speaker 1: like the Titans getting seven and a half points against
- 36:46Speaker 1: the Texans. I don't think the Titans are going to win,
- 36:49Speaker 1: but they're starting to put things together a little bit
- 36:52Speaker 1: better offensively. And right now the Texans are a team
- 36:56Speaker 1: that's kind of a little bit in disarray. So even
- 36:59Speaker 1: though I like the Texans to win, I like the
- 37:01Speaker 1: Titans to cover seven and a half. I'm going to
- 37:04Speaker 1: take the Saints to cover the one and a half
- 37:06Speaker 1: against the Vikings. I mean, it's still tough to go
- 37:08Speaker 1: into the Superdome and win. And I just don't think
- 37:11Speaker 1: this Vikings team at 4-0 is as good as the
- 37:14Speaker 1: record would suggest. They're getting great coaching, but you're giving
- 37:18Speaker 1: me the Saints getting points. Actually, it's two and a half.
- 37:21Speaker 1: So Saints are getting two and a half points at
- 37:23Speaker 1: home against this Vikings team, I will take that. And
- 37:27Speaker 1: the third game, I'm going to take the Ravens. I'm
- 37:32Speaker 1: going to take the Ravens getting three points in Atlanta. Yes,
- 37:36Speaker 1: I just said it. I know Lamar is out, but
- 37:38Speaker 1: I think the Ravens are a pretty good team all around.
- 37:41Speaker 1: And it's not like their backup is some guy who's
- 37:43Speaker 1: never played before. And I'm not quite sure the Falcons
- 37:46Speaker 1: are as good as the last two weeks have shown.
- 37:49Speaker 1: So the Ravens getting points in Atlanta, getting three points.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I'll take the Ravens to cover against the Falcons. And
- 37:56Speaker 1: that's going to do it. Those are my three picks,
- 37:58Speaker 1: and hopefully I am more successful than I was last weekend.
- 38:02Speaker 1: All right, that is it, everybody. As I tell you
- 38:04Speaker 1: every week, enjoy your football watching. I'm Jeff Mosher for
