- 0:00Speaker 1: Marximo Live from the w o R Lifeback Studio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Well, we bring you the smartest people on earth. Steve Forbes,
- 0:10Speaker 2: the chairman of the Forbes Media an author of some
- 0:12Speaker 2: great books. Getty's latest book, Inflation by Steve Forbes. Go
- 0:15Speaker 2: to Amazon get the book Inflation. Of course, read Forbes
- 0:19Speaker 2: and learn a lot. Steve Forbes, How you doing doing fine?
- 0:24Speaker 2: Thank you?
- 0:25Speaker 1: Waiting for the big soccer matches? Sorry the US didn't
- 0:30Speaker 1: make it, but I, like many, I've become a soccer fan.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Never thought of what happened.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Well, I gotta be honest, I'm waiting for it to
- 0:38Speaker 2: be over Sunday night and everything to go back to normal,
- 0:41Speaker 2: and it's it's.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Oh, by the way, Yankee won the MVP in the
- 0:49Speaker 1: All Star Game last night, So maybe maybe that's a
- 0:52Speaker 1: harbinger that the Yankees will really get back in the
- 0:56Speaker 1: groove and finally win a World Series, which will be
- 0:58Speaker 1: essential for staving civilization. You know, the last time the
- 1:01Speaker 1: Yankees won the World Series was two thousand and nine. Wow,
- 1:05Speaker 1: the world's been in trouble since then.
- 1:07Speaker 2: So how do you become a soccer fan? What am
- 1:09Speaker 2: I missing? It just seems that there's hardly any scoring.
- 1:13Speaker 2: It takes forever to run around in shorts. What am
- 1:16Speaker 2: I missing? Well, it's like any sport. Do you either
- 1:20Speaker 2: get hooked into it or not. A lot of people
- 1:23Speaker 2: baseball as snoozeball, a lot of people watching golf. It's
- 1:27Speaker 2: like watching grass grow. So it's just a matter of
- 1:30Speaker 2: what take So who knows what gets us addicted? Hey,
- 1:37Speaker 2: you wrote the book Inflation. It's a great book. Everybody
- 1:40Speaker 2: should get it. But you literally wrote the book on
- 1:42Speaker 2: the subject. This report this week looks like we've got
- 1:45Speaker 2: inflation under control, doesn't it.
- 1:48Speaker 1: It does indeed, and both the DPI, the consumer Price
- 1:52Speaker 1: Index and producer price Index both going in the right
- 1:56Speaker 1: direction now one and I wish the president would warn this.
- 2:00Speaker 1: As long as they've got the Iranian crisis brewing, you
- 2:03Speaker 1: could see a spike again in oil and gas prices,
- 2:06Speaker 1: but I think we've already seen that. Eventually, that's going
- 2:10Speaker 1: to be resolved one way or the other. But we've
- 2:11Speaker 1: already seen that when things cool down, the prices come down.
- 2:16Speaker 1: And one of the things to keep in mind, and
- 2:17Speaker 1: the rest of that index is other than beef. Food
- 2:20Speaker 1: prices have stabilized and some have come down. We've seen
- 2:23Speaker 1: with eggs, and so it seems to be calming down,
- 2:27Speaker 1: and hopefully the president will be able to and the
- 2:30Speaker 1: Republicans will learn how to make that a positive issue
- 2:33Speaker 1: in the fall. And Kevin Walsh, in his testimony yesterday
- 2:38Speaker 1: and I'm sure he's going to do it again today,
- 2:40Speaker 1: has made it clear that the federal reserve certain things
- 2:43Speaker 1: they cannot control, like the war with Iran, but they're
- 2:47Speaker 1: not going to where they're going to look for a
- 2:49Speaker 1: stability of the dollar rather than trying to manipulate the economy.
- 2:53Speaker 1: And boy, even though it sounds nerdy and all that
- 2:57Speaker 1: kind of stuff that is the present, say huge in
- 3:00Speaker 1: the future, you're not going to have an unaccounted body
- 3:04Speaker 1: messing around with the economy.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Hey, you know, the warn Iran maybe drives the price
- 3:10Speaker 2: of oil of five to ten cents, but I don't
- 3:12Speaker 2: think most people are aware two three dollars of that
- 3:15Speaker 2: price is Democrats, regulations and fees and all that stuff. Well,
- 3:19Speaker 2: why can't Republicans make that clear to everybody?
- 3:23Speaker 1: Well, what they should do is say the extreme of
- 3:26Speaker 1: it is California, where you know the national average for
- 3:29Speaker 1: gas is about what three eighty nine. My neck of
- 3:32Speaker 1: the wood is about four ten four. In California, it's
- 3:36Speaker 1: five and a half six dollars. And just get a
- 3:39Speaker 1: little chart showing how much of that is the real
- 3:43Speaker 1: price and how much of it is taxes and regulation,
- 3:46Speaker 1: and say, these socialists wanted to make it even worse.
- 3:49Speaker 1: And you're absolutely right. Most of the gas so much
- 3:53Speaker 1: of the gas price is taxes and regulation. By the way,
- 3:56Speaker 1: New Jersey wants had the lowest, one of the lowest
- 3:59Speaker 1: gas prices in the country. And then several years ago
- 4:02Speaker 1: they changed the formula on the gasoline tax, so it
- 4:06Speaker 1: keeps going up and up and up automatically, so the
- 4:09Speaker 1: legislators don't have to do anything, but the price always
- 4:12Speaker 1: goes up at the pump.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah. So you know Democrats, Well, when tariffs came along,
- 4:17Speaker 2: Democrats screaming about tariffs. Democrats put tariffs on everything. They
- 4:22Speaker 2: call it corporate tax increase. But isn't that the same
- 4:25Speaker 2: as a tariff.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Yes, the tariff is a tax, and the Democrats love
- 4:31Speaker 1: any tax they can get their hands on. And the
- 4:35Speaker 1: tax is not just direct taxes, but also regulation. And
- 4:40Speaker 1: you look at the New York are the dear governor
- 4:43Speaker 1: there has announced that no more artificial no more centers,
- 4:47Speaker 1: data centers, and that's the kind of thing New York did.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Years ago. Pennsylvania went all in for fracking, New York
- 4:54Speaker 1: have banned it. So Pennsylvania has literally gotten billions and billions,
- 4:59Speaker 1: over ten billion fifteen billion dollars of extra revenue from
- 5:03Speaker 1: the fracking, and New York just peak piling on taxes
- 5:08Speaker 1: and any good activity like an AI center out in
- 5:12Speaker 1: the middle of nowhere they banned. So it's absolutely perverse.
- 5:16Speaker 1: And by the way, we were discussing earlier about the
- 5:20Speaker 1: affordability crisis, isn't it a coincidence? Is it a coincidence
- 5:24Speaker 1: that the highest costs in the country are in states
- 5:26Speaker 1: run by Democrats.
- 5:28Speaker 2: Who caused the affordability crisis? New York has been run
- 5:31Speaker 2: by Democrats for twenty years.
- 5:33Speaker 1: Yes it has. It was New York City. And as
- 5:37Speaker 1: we pointed out before, New York and Florida has a
- 5:40Speaker 1: bigger population than New York and yet the budget is
- 5:44Speaker 1: a fraction of that of New York. How does that happen?
- 5:46Speaker 1: As Florida's suddenly a place where people are starving and
- 5:50Speaker 1: nobody gets an education and dying, no thriving place with
- 5:54Speaker 1: a budget that is less than half of that of a.
- 5:57Speaker 2: New York Hey Forbes. By the data centers, there is
- 6:02Speaker 2: some kind of concern about them using up too much
- 6:05Speaker 2: electricity and water in certain areas until they figure that out.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Isn't it good to have a little hold on this
- 6:10Speaker 2: for a while ntil we figure that out?
- 6:12Speaker 1: Well, you figure it out case by case. Data center
- 6:16Speaker 1: may be work in one area not in another area,
- 6:19Speaker 1: so you do like automobiles. They can pose problems, but
- 6:23Speaker 1: you figure out how to deal with specific problems. And
- 6:27Speaker 1: just as you wouldn't put a nuclear power plant in
- 6:30Speaker 1: Times Square, you pick and choose where you put these things.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Because the whole AI thing is has profound promise. We
- 6:41Speaker 1: all know that they're going to be downsides with anything,
- 6:44Speaker 1: but one of the areas of great promise is vastly
- 6:47Speaker 1: increasing how fast we can get new drugs and new
- 6:50Speaker 1: medical devices to market. Instead of waiting ten or twelve years,
- 6:54Speaker 1: we can start be getting them in a matter of
- 6:57Speaker 1: weeks or months. In my age, I think that's a
- 6:59Speaker 1: splendid I don't want to be told, well, we can
- 7:02Speaker 1: deal with this in fifteen years. No, we want it now.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Hey, there's a homeless camp that goes for about twelve
- 7:11Speaker 2: blocks now. It's on the west side, right near the Intrepid.
- 7:14Speaker 2: It's a shantytown twelve blocks long. It's been in the
- 7:18Speaker 2: news for days and days. Yet the mayor, Mom Donnie,
- 7:21Speaker 2: does nothing about it. What does that tell us about him?
- 7:25Speaker 1: What it tells us he's got the same mindset that
- 7:27Speaker 1: there works such miracles in Los Angeles. Yeah, we have
- 7:31Speaker 1: a huge problem, and we know what you do, you
- 7:34Speaker 1: don't let them come into existence. But he's handcuffed the
- 7:38Speaker 1: police on it. And I think the nice thing is
- 7:42Speaker 1: we're a media area and just say here's what socialism
- 7:46Speaker 1: brings you and start shaming him. And another thing we
- 7:50Speaker 1: should start doing is he's the biggest slum lord in
- 7:53Speaker 1: the country. Start going to some of these glorious communal
- 7:57Speaker 1: apartments that he's in charge of, where of rats running
- 8:00Speaker 1: around and water not running and maintenance problems, and say
- 8:04Speaker 1: this is what he's in charge of. You want more
- 8:08Speaker 1: of that? Vote for those kinds of people.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Well, yeah, but we did that in LA and put
- 8:12Speaker 2: the spotlight on all San Francisco. Yet they still keep
- 8:15Speaker 2: electing these crazies.
- 8:16Speaker 1: What do you do about the Well, San Francisco actually
- 8:18Speaker 1: elected a mayor who's a semi adult and has already
- 8:22Speaker 1: had some positive impact on that benighted area. And in
- 8:27Speaker 1: Los Angeles, I don't like to sound like a conspiracy guy,
- 8:31Speaker 1: but that mayoral election, suddenly tens of thousands of votes
- 8:35Speaker 1: come for this socialist out of nowhere, like voting manna
- 8:39Speaker 1: from heaven for a socialist. Where did that come from?
- 8:42Speaker 1: And we already know the stories of having these homeless
- 8:45Speaker 1: shelters with one hundred and thirty beds and over one
- 8:48Speaker 1: thousand registered voters there. Come on, there was massive fraud there,
- 8:52Speaker 1: and I'm glad finally they're going to get a serious
- 8:55Speaker 1: investigation of that. I think Pratt won second place. He
- 8:58Speaker 1: should have been on the member ballot and an honest election.
- 9:02Speaker 2: Good point. Yeah, San Francisco, you got voters waking up
- 9:07Speaker 2: to what's going on, and we probably did in La
- 9:09Speaker 2: We we just got cheated out of it. But these
- 9:13Speaker 2: Democratic leaders, the Schumers, the Pelosis, why did they surrender
- 9:17Speaker 2: their party to these lunatics. Why didn't they stand up
- 9:20Speaker 2: and fight to keep their party.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I think they were intimidated And it's amazing, And this
- 9:27Speaker 1: is why we must glorify our independence and constitution, is
- 9:34Speaker 1: that we saw what happened in Russia in nineteen seventeen.
- 9:39Speaker 1: A determined group of fanatics can take something over if
- 9:43Speaker 1: you don't resist it, and the Democrats didn't resist. When
- 9:46Speaker 1: AOC won in twenty eighteen against the long entrench congressman,
- 9:52Speaker 1: the party thought, oh my god, the activists are going
- 9:55Speaker 1: to come after us. They're going to primary us. So
- 9:57Speaker 1: it's out of fear, not numbers, but out of fear.
- 10:01Speaker 1: And so the disease has grown. By the way, in Colorado,
- 10:05Speaker 1: where you had an upset of a veteran, a congressperson
- 10:08Speaker 1: from a socialist radical socialist Colorado, the far left. There
- 10:14Speaker 1: got no publicity where Republicans were content to go along
- 10:17Speaker 1: nominating candidates blah blah blah. They were organizing the state,
- 10:22Speaker 1: figure out where the voters were, how to do ballot harvesting.
- 10:25Speaker 1: For several years they worked the machinery the politics of
- 10:29Speaker 1: that state. In turn of state that was mildly read
- 10:32Speaker 1: into a blue stronghold by getting control of the Democrat party.
- 10:36Speaker 1: And so that's why I had that flip in Colorado.
- 10:40Speaker 1: So we on the other side have to do the
- 10:42Speaker 1: same thing, nitty gritty work a voter by voter. What
- 10:46Speaker 1: these fanatics did. They can be turned back. They're not.
- 10:49Speaker 1: The majority Americans don't want this kind of stuff. Most Americans.
- 10:53Speaker 1: Good point. Well, Steve Forbes brilliant as always. Everybody get
- 10:55Speaker 1: his latest book, Inflation. You'll love the book. You'll learn
- 10:59Speaker 1: a lot. And also of course read Forbes and Steve Forbes.
- 11:03Speaker 1: Thanks for being with us. Good to be with you, Mark,
- 11:06Speaker 1: Thank you, keep up the great fight.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Thanks take care. Hey. Coming up at noon, Buck Sexton
- 11:10Speaker 2: and Clay Travis will be with us. Then he got
- 11:12Speaker 2: the most listened to radio show in America, Sean Hannity
- 11:16Speaker 2: and every night at nine, nine to midnight, a very
- 11:19Speaker 2: funny show. Jimmy Fayala. He's here on seven to ten
- 11:22Speaker 2: wor
