- 0:00Speaker 1: Does your wife keep track of what you ate? Oh? No, no, no, no, no,
- 0:04Speaker 1: she doesn't keep track of what I do. What I
- 0:05Speaker 1: mean like, what do I mean like keep tracking what
- 0:07Speaker 1: you ate in terms of like, hey, you're eating too much?
- 0:09Speaker 1: I mean like the good shit in our house. She's
- 0:12Speaker 1: watching like you had the last Eminem packet that's mine. Yeah.
- 0:17Speaker 1: We do fight over Eminem's, the peanut kind. We fight
- 0:20Speaker 1: over candy a lot. My wife and I yo yo, uh.
- 0:23Speaker 1: We should talk about this because a lot of people
- 0:25Speaker 1: don't know. But it was Sinco de Mayo yesterday. Yes,
- 0:29Speaker 1: you were fasting, so you didn't participate in Sinco de Mayo.
- 0:32Speaker 1: What did you do? What did you do? So? Casa
- 0:35Speaker 1: Vega is one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the
- 0:38Speaker 1: Sherman Oaks area right and you know, nobody can go
- 0:43Speaker 1: to restaurants right now. But they had a little drive
- 0:45Speaker 1: through going on where you can get you know, tacos
- 0:48Speaker 1: and and and beans and rice and and you know
- 0:52Speaker 1: whatever was on the menu, and margaritas and margarita's. How
- 0:57Speaker 1: do they how do they give you the margharita? They
- 0:59Speaker 1: brought it in, They put it in a half gallon
- 1:01Speaker 1: picture that does not even a picture. It's like a
- 1:04Speaker 1: half gallon, you know, like we put milk in it.
- 1:06Speaker 1: You know, you get milk and it's a half gallon,
- 1:08Speaker 1: bob jar whatever it is. Yeah, they put it in
- 1:11Speaker 1: that Wow, and we got three of them. Oh my god,
- 1:15Speaker 1: did you get hammer? We only have one left. You
- 1:21Speaker 1: guys had a party over there. We drank a gallon
- 1:23Speaker 1: of margarita yesterday. Oh my godlish I'm so jealous. I
- 1:28Speaker 1: literally this this this fast thing we're on. It's like
- 1:31Speaker 1: all you eat is this thin soup. It looks like
- 1:35Speaker 1: it looks like gruel, remember that thing that Oliver wanted
- 1:37Speaker 1: more of. That's what it looks like. Yeah, it looks
- 1:40Speaker 1: like or like what they what they'd slop on a
- 1:43Speaker 1: pirate ship, what they'd serve you for dinner. That's what
- 1:45Speaker 1: it looks like. Right, doesn't have like a little bit
- 1:47Speaker 1: of celery and like a little bit of carrot. It
- 1:49Speaker 1: looks like cartoonishly watered down soup. That's what we're allowed
- 1:53Speaker 1: to eat. But it's it's white colored. No, it's the
- 1:56Speaker 1: color of whatever flavor they think it is. It's like
- 1:58Speaker 1: tomato is like tomato colored, but it's just got little
- 2:01Speaker 1: specs of crap in it. Wow, But just you wait, Donald,
- 2:04Speaker 1: We're gonna you're gonna check in when we record on Friday,
- 2:07Speaker 1: and you're gonna you're gonna say, wow, you look even thinner.
- 2:10Speaker 1: I want to I want to fast, but I shall
- 2:12Speaker 1: we sing? Shall we sing? Yeah? Sure? Why not? I'd
- 2:15Speaker 1: like to count in today because I realized I haven't
- 2:17Speaker 1: counted it in a long time. I've been giving it
- 2:19Speaker 1: to you. I've been giving it to Bill Lawrence, our guests,
- 2:21Speaker 1: giving it to Judy as a present, and and I
- 2:24Speaker 1: just feel feeling left out. Well, Zach, I want you
- 2:27Speaker 1: to give it to me. Go ahead, okay, Dan, hit it.
- 2:29Speaker 1: I like a little you know what. You didn't wait
- 2:30Speaker 1: before you hit it? Dan? You know, I always thought
- 2:32Speaker 1: it was so cool when DJ's on the radio do
- 2:35Speaker 1: the thing they called talk up, like they know exactly
- 2:38Speaker 1: when the words come in and they stop talking right
- 2:42Speaker 1: at I believe DJs call it talking up a song,
- 2:45Speaker 1: right right, so they they I'm sure they haven't labeled somewhere,
- 2:48Speaker 1: like the lyrics start at five seconds in or something.
- 2:51Speaker 1: And I always thought it was so smooth. So I'd
- 2:52Speaker 1: like to talk up this song. Go ahead, do it? Okay?
- 2:56Speaker 1: Here we go. So I'm not gonna count in, Dan,
- 2:58Speaker 1: I'm just gonna talk it up. Okay, I'm nervous now,
- 3:03Speaker 1: I'm nervous. Now Here we go. Welcome everybody to fake doctors,
- 3:08Speaker 1: real friends. We're so glad you're joining us. And here's
- 3:10Speaker 1: a song written by Junie Blues Domphase on a Brown
- 3:14Speaker 1: coming at you. Here's some stories about show we made
- 3:19Speaker 1: about a bunch of doctor nervous said, he's the stories.
- 3:28Speaker 1: So yetta around here, a yat around here. Hey. Lots
- 3:39Speaker 1: of talk on the social media about you know what
- 3:41Speaker 1: I mean? And uh and you is it? Is it
- 3:44Speaker 1: that bad? No, it's It's just people just need to
- 3:48Speaker 1: accept it. It's part of your way of speaking. It
- 3:51Speaker 1: is part of mine. I'm just concerned though about those
- 3:53Speaker 1: who are doing it as a drinking game, that that
- 3:55Speaker 1: that we're gonna turn people into alcoholics. I'm up the
- 3:58Speaker 1: I think we should keep the things, but if you
- 4:00Speaker 1: don't want to keep the dings, we could we could
- 4:01Speaker 1: remove the things. And also I heard, by the way, Dan,
- 4:04Speaker 1: that you missed some I saw on Twitter some people
- 4:06Speaker 1: were like that dings were hilarious, but you guys missed
- 4:09Speaker 1: like four you know what it means, Dan, what was
- 4:12Speaker 1: the total I mean, of the ones you caught, what
- 4:15Speaker 1: was the total nine? That's not a lot for an
- 4:18Speaker 1: hour dude. By by the way, that's when you were
- 4:21Speaker 1: trying not to say it, dude, But but I was
- 4:23Speaker 1: also it was me not it was me using it
- 4:26Speaker 1: as slang, though at that point it wasn't me just
- 4:30Speaker 1: saying you know what I mean. After everything I said,
- 4:33Speaker 1: somebody brought to my attention that you say, you know
- 4:35Speaker 1: a lot. I'm just gonna put it out there. Really,
- 4:37Speaker 1: I'm trying to shift the ship on to me. Listen, Listen,
- 4:42Speaker 1: I do I listen. We all have. We all if
- 4:45Speaker 1: you record someone for multiple hours, you're gonna hear some
- 4:48Speaker 1: of the things that they say when they speak. I'm
- 4:51Speaker 1: sure we all have our own ticks. Yeah, I'm sure
- 4:54Speaker 1: you listening right now judging us, you probably have some
- 4:58Speaker 1: vocal go tos. The ones that the ones that kind
- 5:04Speaker 1: of get on my nerves are like when people say
- 5:07Speaker 1: I mean all the time before they say anything, I mean,
- 5:10Speaker 1: it's like no, I get it, or like I mean,
- 5:12Speaker 1: I hear you say like a lot. We all say
- 5:14Speaker 1: like a lot, I know, but the young folks really
- 5:17Speaker 1: use like a lot. Yeah, that that's the one that
- 5:20Speaker 1: gets me. I mean, I mean, I mean, I'm literally
- 5:25Speaker 1: the wrong use of literally is also a bit of
- 5:27Speaker 1: a pet peeve. Really that's abused. You literally don't like that.
- 5:32Speaker 1: I literally literally get annoyed when people overuse literally. Should
- 5:37Speaker 1: we get into the episode, Donald, let's do it. I
- 5:39Speaker 1: love it. Everyone right in and say, holy shit, you
- 5:46Speaker 1: are so good in this episode. I forgot how church
- 5:50Speaker 1: centric it was. It is a Turk episode, and it issode.
- 5:56Speaker 1: It's a very Turk episode Donald, right moments. I'm not
- 5:59Speaker 1: just saying this because I love you so much, but
- 6:02Speaker 1: I do, But holy shit, you are so good in
- 6:04Speaker 1: this episode. And I multiple things. There's the there's we
- 6:08Speaker 1: could spend a whole episode of this podcast on that
- 6:11Speaker 1: gospel fantasy. We're going to spend plenty of time on it,
- 6:14Speaker 1: don't get me wrong. But also you're dramatic acting at
- 6:18Speaker 1: the end when you're all upset, the scene with you
- 6:20Speaker 1: and Judy on the roof, you running to the park.
- 6:22Speaker 1: I just thought you did really really good working. Oh
- 6:25Speaker 1: you're a sweetheart, you know. Thank you? First of all.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Second of all, this was one of my This isn't
- 6:30Speaker 1: necessarily one of my favorite episodes. But there's so many
- 6:33Speaker 1: really cool things that happened in this episode that I
- 6:36Speaker 1: got to be a part of. One was obviously the
- 6:38Speaker 1: gospel choiet thing. That was a lot of fun. One
- 6:41Speaker 1: of my favorite movies of all time is Coming to
- 6:42Speaker 1: America too, And also Which Way Is Up? And in
- 6:46Speaker 1: Which Way Is Up? Richard Pryor plays a reverend in
- 6:49Speaker 1: a church and in Coming to America. Arsineo Hall's portrayal
- 6:53Speaker 1: of the reverend is amazing as well. And so if
- 6:58Speaker 1: any if I was doing anything in that scene, I
- 7:01Speaker 1: was stealing from the two of them, Wow, because I
- 7:03Speaker 1: just get right, let's get right to it. You are
- 7:06Speaker 1: so fucking funny in that and I well, I watched
- 7:10Speaker 1: it like multiple times just because that scene. I think
- 7:12Speaker 1: it's one of the I honestly, I know we're just
- 7:13Speaker 1: started this, but I think it's one of the best
- 7:14Speaker 1: fantasies in Scrub's history solely because of your performance. And
- 7:18Speaker 1: I know that you're doing an homage to your favorite
- 7:21Speaker 1: one of our favorite movies, Coming to America, but you
- 7:23Speaker 1: really made it your own. I mean I just was
- 7:28Speaker 1: dying laughing the Jerry Curl, the swinging of the arms,
- 7:34Speaker 1: the padding of the forehead. We gonna we gonna do
- 7:38Speaker 1: you want to cut them open, and then we gonna
- 7:40Speaker 1: stow them right back together. I remember that day genuinely
- 7:45Speaker 1: cracking up, and you were just going for it. Man,
- 7:47Speaker 1: you were you were literally sweating your ass on that
- 7:49Speaker 1: hot and you were just being But I wasn't sweating
- 7:53Speaker 1: my ass off. So you kind of used literally in
- 7:56Speaker 1: the way that you hate it. Okay, you're because I've
- 8:00Speaker 1: was literally sweating, but my ass didn't fall off. You
- 8:02Speaker 1: are right, Okay, there it is. There, it is. It is.
- 8:06Speaker 1: It is literally not possible in a literal sense for
- 8:10Speaker 1: someone's ass to be sweat off. I believe, I believe
- 8:13Speaker 1: that's true. Joel, Please look that up. I had a
- 8:16Speaker 1: lot of fun doing that scene, man. One of the
- 8:18Speaker 1: one of the great things was looking out into the
- 8:20Speaker 1: audience also and seeing, you know how background really enjoyed themselves,
- 8:25Speaker 1: and then also seeing familiar faces in the background. Colonel
- 8:29Speaker 1: Doctor for the first time is in this episode. Wait,
- 8:31Speaker 1: before you're you're jumping around, let's just stay focused on you.
- 8:33Speaker 1: We can't go to Colonel Doctors in the background. I know,
- 8:36Speaker 1: but yes, okay, sorry, but I didn't want to go
- 8:38Speaker 1: to courl doctor yet because it is his first appearance
- 8:41Speaker 1: in a Scrubs episode. He shows up in the background
- 8:44Speaker 1: of Sarah's scene first. Also Neil Flynn in the background
- 8:48Speaker 1: of this episode clapping Yes, that was funny. What about
- 8:52Speaker 1: me when I get the spirit and then you catch
- 8:54Speaker 1: in the Holy Ghost? Dude, that freaked me out. The
- 8:58Speaker 1: first time I ever saw that, I'm gonna be in
- 9:01Speaker 1: real life. My first time ever seen I saw listen.
- 9:05Speaker 1: I went to church with my babysitter. It was like
- 9:07Speaker 1: a midnight mass type thing, and we went to church
- 9:11Speaker 1: and we saw, first of all, people around us are
- 9:14Speaker 1: catching the spirit, right, catching the Holy Ghost, and they're
- 9:16Speaker 1: losing it. And I was like, all right, I'm safe.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I'm here with my babysitter. I know she's not gonna
- 9:23Speaker 1: catch the Holy Spirit. Last cut too, she catches the
- 9:26Speaker 1: bad Boy and I was like, yeah, so how did
- 9:30Speaker 1: she start acting like she just out of out of nowhere?
- 9:33Speaker 1: She just started dancing right like you did, like your
- 9:36Speaker 1: character does, like like JD does. She started dancing and
- 9:40Speaker 1: then she started praising God, which is what you know
- 9:43Speaker 1: as a youth when you don't see stuff like that,
- 9:45Speaker 1: Like my grandmother was Piscopalian, so we had to go
- 9:48Speaker 1: to Piscopalian church and stuff like that, and it wasn't
- 9:50Speaker 1: like that, you know what I mean. Even though it
- 9:52Speaker 1: was all black, it wasn't a Baptist church, you know
- 9:54Speaker 1: what I mean. And when you go to a when
- 9:56Speaker 1: you go to a Baptist church, you know they put
- 9:59Speaker 1: it in. That's something that's I'd love to do that.
- 10:01Speaker 1: By the way, Oh, it's amazing that everything. I would
- 10:05Speaker 1: love to have the experience of going to a church
- 10:07Speaker 1: like the one we're representing in this show. I just
- 10:10Speaker 1: think it would be amazing. I've never seen that in
- 10:11Speaker 1: real life, obviously, I've seen it on TV and on
- 10:14Speaker 1: video of people speaking in tongues and and and no judgments.
- 10:18Speaker 1: I'm not I'm whatever works for you. That's amazing. I
- 10:21Speaker 1: like you said, as a child, I was always like,
- 10:22Speaker 1: oh my God, what is what is happening? Right? And
- 10:25Speaker 1: it was so shocking to see someone reacting like that,
- 10:28Speaker 1: to get touched by the spirit of God. I like
- 10:31Speaker 1: the idea that JD you know, got the spirit when
- 10:34Speaker 1: you were such a good minister, that it just came
- 10:36Speaker 1: to him, right, the music got into him and and
- 10:39Speaker 1: and scripted or I just improve that I don't recall,
- 10:42Speaker 1: do you remember, I don't know if it was scripted.
- 10:44Speaker 1: I think I think you might have improved it to
- 10:46Speaker 1: be I think I just thought I said to Bill, like,
- 10:48Speaker 1: oh my god, I should get the spirit. I think
- 10:49Speaker 1: that's funny. Yeah, amazing, amazing, man, A great scene. The
- 10:55Speaker 1: choir was the choir was amazing. Although they although we
- 10:57Speaker 1: do we do have two of them that that's by
- 11:00Speaker 1: the lens and wave at the camera around eight sixteen.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I don't know if you caught that they got They
- 11:04Speaker 1: may have caught the spirit too and decided to wave
- 11:06Speaker 1: to the lens. But uh, but they were. They were amazing.
- 11:10Speaker 1: And by the way, why mistaken or did you? Or
- 11:13Speaker 1: did you when you were just riffing. One of the
- 11:14Speaker 1: things that was you were so great when when they
- 11:17Speaker 1: would when you would be in your element and they
- 11:19Speaker 1: would just tell you to go. Whether that could be
- 11:21Speaker 1: the dance, the famous dance you did that that everyone
- 11:23Speaker 1: always talks about, or or so many things, but in
- 11:26Speaker 1: this moment when you were just riffing and being that preacher,
- 11:29Speaker 1: I mean, you just got lost in it and it
- 11:30Speaker 1: was so amazing to watch you do that. But I
- 11:32Speaker 1: remember that when you can what's the name of the
- 11:35Speaker 1: song we sing in yer? Remember the song? And they
- 11:39Speaker 1: kept it in and that was so funny. It was
- 11:42Speaker 1: supposed to be something like quah, let us let us
- 11:46Speaker 1: you know, uh let us uh bless the congregation with
- 11:51Speaker 1: the song you know, Christ the Lord, right, right, And
- 11:55Speaker 1: I remember getting down back quile what's the name a
- 12:00Speaker 1: song was singing? But you stayed in character. It was
- 12:03Speaker 1: still funny. You know. It was such a good lesson
- 12:05Speaker 1: early on in Scrubs that if if we stayed in character,
- 12:08Speaker 1: a lot of that stuff could if it was funny,
- 12:10Speaker 1: would stay in right. And and that was a perfect
- 12:13Speaker 1: example of of you doing that and Bill going in
- 12:15Speaker 1: the edit room like, oh, that's funny, that's staying yeah. Yeah.
- 12:19Speaker 1: So so this whole episode, it was written by Debord
- 12:25Speaker 1: hum that's right, who also wrote the musical episode. Right,
- 12:28Speaker 1: was the one of the main writers on the musical episode,
- 12:30Speaker 1: and I think actually participated in running a lot of
- 12:33Speaker 1: lyrics for the famous musical episode. That's right. And Jeff
- 12:37Speaker 1: Melman was the director, and I just learned a little
- 12:40Speaker 1: trivia that he directed some of the sitcom You did
- 12:43Speaker 1: the xes, Yeah, I did, I did, I do not
- 12:48Speaker 1: put two and two together. I did not remember that.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Do you remember? Do you remember it? I do know
- 12:53Speaker 1: Jeff Melman is, but now that you have said that,
- 12:56Speaker 1: he only directed one episode of Scrubs and it was
- 12:58Speaker 1: twenty years ago, So you're okay for not remembering, but
- 13:00Speaker 1: I don't know if you put two and two together.
- 13:01Speaker 1: They also directed your sitcom The X. I think we
- 13:03Speaker 1: even talked about him directing an episode of Scrubs when
- 13:06Speaker 1: he directed the Episodexes. Anyway, and Kristin Johnston, who you
- 13:11Speaker 1: did the Exes with, I bought her house. That's where
- 13:14Speaker 1: I live. Yeah. Not only that, but you guys also
- 13:18Speaker 1: did Twelfth Night together. We did Twelfth Night together in
- 13:21Speaker 1: Central Park at the Dela Court and you and that's
- 13:25Speaker 1: when she said, Hey, I want to move out of
- 13:27Speaker 1: la I'm over it. Do you have any interest? And
- 13:29Speaker 1: I was just at the time when I was starting
- 13:32Speaker 1: to think about buying my first house. And what's funny
- 13:35Speaker 1: is that she was quite an entertainer. She threw a
- 13:38Speaker 1: lot of bashes at the house. And so over the
- 13:41Speaker 1: years when I've told people that I bought the house
- 13:43Speaker 1: from her, They're always like, ooh, I've been so fucked
- 13:46Speaker 1: up in your house. Wow. Wow. Well she's now sober
- 13:50Speaker 1: and she's written a wonderful book called Guts out on
- 13:53Speaker 1: the market right now. And if your guys are listening
- 13:56Speaker 1: and want a good read in the Voice of christ
- 14:01Speaker 1: and Johnson. She also does the audio book. You check
- 14:03Speaker 1: it out. It's very, very very revealing, and she's very
- 14:07Speaker 1: open about her addiction. And yeah, and when you're I've
- 14:11Speaker 1: read the book and it's amazing and you should get it.
- 14:13Speaker 1: And when you're hearing about some of her partying, just
- 14:15Speaker 1: know it was happening in mind. Yo. Somebody got mad, dude,
- 14:21Speaker 1: you oh man, somebody got mad that I ruined that
- 14:23Speaker 1: joke or that not the joke, the bit of trivia.
- 14:26Speaker 1: I know on one of the last episodes, I said
- 14:29Speaker 1: I'm gonna I was gonna do a trivia for Donald
- 14:31Speaker 1: involving the Breakfast Club, and he ruined it and some
- 14:34Speaker 1: guy and some guy wrote on Twitter I was legit
- 14:37Speaker 1: excited for a bit of trivia and Donald did indeed
- 14:40Speaker 1: ruin it. We gotta filter in some more trivia to
- 14:45Speaker 1: this show. Absolutely, so Okay, deav Ford him, Jeff melman Um,
- 14:48Speaker 1: It's a great episode. I gotta say, you know, They're
- 14:50Speaker 1: not all this good. This was a darn good one.
- 14:52Speaker 1: And first thing I wrote down was Nurse Tisdale at
- 14:56Speaker 1: thirty five seconds in Yes, which is a oma to
- 15:01Speaker 1: film fast Times a Ridgemond High. Now, some of you
- 15:03Speaker 1: younger folk might not know that movie. You should watch
- 15:05Speaker 1: it because it's a seminole eighties film. And I remember
- 15:08Speaker 1: watching it at someone's house, far too young to be
- 15:12Speaker 1: watching it, Like I should not have been watching that
- 15:14Speaker 1: movie at the age I was, And I remember feeling like,
- 15:17Speaker 1: don't move because I don't want any adult to notice
- 15:22Speaker 1: that I'm here and I'm watching this and I probably
- 15:24Speaker 1: shouldn't be watching Phoebe Kates reveal her bosoms. Yeah, do
- 15:30Speaker 1: you remember when you saw that movie? I do remember
- 15:32Speaker 1: when I saw that movie. And you know, the one
- 15:35Speaker 1: thing that stuck out from that movie for me was
- 15:37Speaker 1: Sean Pinn totally awesome and his Jeff Spoccoli. Yeah, a
- 15:41Speaker 1: little bit of trivia for you. Do you know who
- 15:43Speaker 1: wrote that movie? Yes, it was Amy Heckerling, No Cameron Crowe.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Amy Heckerling directed it, absolutely okay. Amy Heckerling, who wrote
- 15:53Speaker 1: and directed Clueless, wrote and directed Clueless. Yes, so it's
- 15:56Speaker 1: six degrees of Donald Fazon? Is what your six degrees
- 15:59Speaker 1: of Donald Fazon. Forrest Whittakers also in that movie. He
- 16:02Speaker 1: directed Waiting to Exhale and I was in it, and
- 16:05Speaker 1: I remember going on the audition for Waiting to Exhale
- 16:07Speaker 1: at the same time I was shooting Clueless, the movie,
- 16:11Speaker 1: and I was, you know, Forrest and I had a
- 16:12Speaker 1: little conversation about his experience with Amy and the reason
- 16:16Speaker 1: why I got Waiting to Xer because I'm sure there
- 16:18Speaker 1: were a bunch of people who auditioned for it. But
- 16:20Speaker 1: Forrest told me, he was like, you know, I went
- 16:22Speaker 1: with you because you know you're working with Amy, and
- 16:25Speaker 1: Amy gave me my start, and it was something there
- 16:28Speaker 1: was a form of nostalgia and for me. So I
- 16:31Speaker 1: got to be in Waiting Exhale with Whitney, Houston, Angel Labassett, Lauretta, Divine,
- 16:35Speaker 1: leilaber Sean, I got to oh Man, I got to
- 16:38Speaker 1: meet several actors, from Michael Beach to one of my
- 16:42Speaker 1: favorite all time performers, Gregory Hines. That's what I've never
- 16:46Speaker 1: seen the movie. I've got to be honest with you,
- 16:48Speaker 1: but you've never seen Waiting to Exhale. No, but I'm
- 16:50Speaker 1: gonna write it down because we're looking for quarantine movies,
- 16:52Speaker 1: and I do love your work. You should watch way
- 16:55Speaker 1: in exhale. It's a lot of fun. It's if you
- 16:56Speaker 1: have a good pardon it or should I need to
- 16:58Speaker 1: just fast forward to your scenes. No, you should watch
- 17:00Speaker 1: the movie. The movie is actually very entertaining. It's it's
- 17:04Speaker 1: it's and the soundtrack is amazing. By the way, Holy cow,
- 17:09Speaker 1: baby face, you put your foot in it when you
- 17:11Speaker 1: made that one. I don't know what that means. It
- 17:14Speaker 1: just means he puts them, he puts them. He did.
- 17:16Speaker 1: He put a little strowsy on it, you know. Face.
- 17:19Speaker 1: He's still doing this thing. Oh, I just haven't heard
- 17:22Speaker 1: about him his name in the public lexicon in a
- 17:25Speaker 1: long time. Anyway, we digress. Let's get back here, all right,
- 17:27Speaker 1: we digress. Nurse Tisdale. Um, she's coming down doing a
- 17:31Speaker 1: homage to Fast Times at Ridgemont High. By the way,
- 17:34Speaker 1: if you haven't seen Fast Times at ridge Mond High,
- 17:35Speaker 1: you should because it perfectly I think encapsulates a period
- 17:39Speaker 1: of time in the eighties. And uh, and it's a
- 17:43Speaker 1: really really I mean it was written by Cameron Crowe.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I mean, it's a great movie. Um, fifty eight seconds,
- 17:48Speaker 1: Snoop you know showing up. Snoop's in a lot of
- 17:50Speaker 1: this episode. Snoop Dogg. In turn, Snoop Dog was in
- 17:54Speaker 1: a lot of this show. I know. It's funny. If
- 17:56Speaker 1: you guys start looking at the background, you'll not Snoop
- 17:58Speaker 1: dogg real snoop Dog, Snoop dog. If you'll see if
- 18:01Speaker 1: you guys look, if you guys look at these episodes closely,
- 18:04Speaker 1: you'll see that basically they're just they're just moving around
- 18:06Speaker 1: the same twenty background folks. And there's times where it's
- 18:10Speaker 1: like there'll be one scene and Snoops in the background,
- 18:12Speaker 1: and then then we're upstairs and Stoops in the background.
- 18:14Speaker 1: I'm like, guys, come on, well he worked a lot
- 18:18Speaker 1: and then yeah, but now we're starting to introduce new characters,
- 18:21Speaker 1: so you'll see ye. Doctor one fifty one a momentous moment.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Colonel Doctor first appearance in the background, as Bill told
- 18:27Speaker 1: us on the last episode, named because everyone thought he
- 18:32Speaker 1: looked like um Colonel Sanders the Kentucky Fried Chicken commercials.
- 18:36Speaker 1: And is he still alive or did he pass I
- 18:39Speaker 1: believe he passed away. I believes where he was an
- 18:41Speaker 1: older fellow when we're doing this twenty years ago. By
- 18:44Speaker 1: the way, someone clarified for me on the social media
- 18:47Speaker 1: interwebs that the Beard Fusse film I was trying to
- 18:52Speaker 1: remember was Girl with the Dragon tattoo. I knew it
- 18:55Speaker 1: was a Fincher, right, So I was right about it
- 18:58Speaker 1: being Fincher. It's Girl with the Dragon. Had to um,
- 19:01Speaker 1: Daniel Craig is on a plane and the camera sort
- 19:04Speaker 1: of just dollis past a close up of Beard Fusse.
- 19:08Speaker 1: So thank you for the for the listener who helped
- 19:11Speaker 1: me out with that. All right, we're gonna go to break,
- 19:14Speaker 1: We'll be right back, and we're back. Hey, listen. I
- 19:26Speaker 1: occasionally Season one would go out partying with you during
- 19:29Speaker 1: the week. Yes, I was occasionally, Yes, I was feeling myself.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I had never had a dollar in my pocket, let alone, um,
- 19:38Speaker 1: some hit television show and you and I. I can't
- 19:43Speaker 1: I mean, it's forty five years old. You can't imagine
- 19:45Speaker 1: you would ever do this. But in our twenties we
- 19:47Speaker 1: would occasionally go out the nights of filming. Occasionally, I
- 19:51Speaker 1: remember we would say things like, all right, look, just
- 19:54Speaker 1: want to do one shot? How about just one I'm
- 19:58Speaker 1: sure everybody out there. It can relate to your friend going,
- 20:02Speaker 1: how about just one Yeah, We're gonna do one shot
- 20:04Speaker 1: hard hard, six o'clock in the morning. If we're gone
- 20:07Speaker 1: by midnight, we could be home by one and it
- 20:10Speaker 1: would still have a good five hours asleep. Right hard
- 20:12Speaker 1: cut to like at six in the morning, we're in
- 20:15Speaker 1: Orlando Jones is swimming. Oh my god, it wasn't even six.
- 20:17Speaker 1: It was like four forty five, right, And it was
- 20:21Speaker 1: the night you had to be at work at six
- 20:24Speaker 1: and I had to Did you have to go in
- 20:25Speaker 1: or just me? You didn't have to go in, and
- 20:26Speaker 1: I had to go in, but I didn't have to
- 20:27Speaker 1: be in until like, oh man, this was this is
- 20:30Speaker 1: This is if you looked at a graph of me
- 20:32Speaker 1: being irresponsible at work. This was the high point because
- 20:35Speaker 1: I think I was in Orlando Jones's pool hammered at
- 20:38Speaker 1: four forty five, and that day I had to shoot
- 20:41Speaker 1: this Fawnzie fantasy at three forty one that starts at
- 20:44Speaker 1: three forty one. So when you see that Fawnsie thing,
- 20:48Speaker 1: not only am I hung over, I'm still buzzed, right right,
- 20:53Speaker 1: I'm still buzzed from partying with Orlando Jones. Dude to
- 20:57Speaker 1: this day. That's still one of the most epic nights.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I mean, we've had some pretty epic nights, but well,
- 21:02Speaker 1: because he was so young and fresh in the game,
- 21:04Speaker 1: and I hadn't met that many stars, and and I
- 21:07Speaker 1: was just like, I can't believe are we going to
- 21:08Speaker 1: Orlando Jones's house yet. Yeah, he was fresh off of
- 21:11Speaker 1: doing uh he had he had already said goodbye to
- 21:14Speaker 1: the seven up commercials, and now he had the movie
- 21:17Speaker 1: that had just come out with him and David Duchovny
- 21:20Speaker 1: and Sean William Scott called Evolution or something like that,
- 21:24Speaker 1: and we were all hanging out. I don't know, but
- 21:26Speaker 1: I was interesting any star. I was excited. I was
- 21:29Speaker 1: as excited. I felt like, I'm living the Hollywood dream.
- 21:31Speaker 1: I'm not waiting tables anymore. I'm partying with Orlando Jones
- 21:34Speaker 1: and Donald Phays on it and God and Deonte Gordon
- 21:41Speaker 1: Donald's Donald stand in Slash our friend and uh. And
- 21:45Speaker 1: then I went and did this fantasy. So I was
- 21:47Speaker 1: just watching it because I remember that being in pain,
- 21:49Speaker 1: and it's it's a very funny fantasy. So I'm i'm, I'm.
- 21:52Speaker 1: I was grateful this many years later, I didn't ruin
- 21:54Speaker 1: a moment for the fans, because that's a funny fantasy.
- 21:56Speaker 1: It's hilarious. He's not gonna make it. Then you come
- 21:59Speaker 1: in and you jox. But those of you who are
- 22:03Speaker 1: too young to remember, the Fawns who I'm spoofing here
- 22:06Speaker 1: could pretty much had magical powers. I mean it happened.
- 22:09Speaker 1: It came to jukeboxes and women. Yes, maybe in the
- 22:13Speaker 1: beginning he was just jukeboxing. But then like as I
- 22:15Speaker 1: recall late in later episodes of Happy Days, he would
- 22:18Speaker 1: literally he could like work, magic could snap, and women
- 22:21Speaker 1: out of nowhere would show up. Yeah, Fawns. He had
- 22:24Speaker 1: to move out of Milwaukee because he had dated every
- 22:26Speaker 1: woman in Milwaukee. That was that was a subplot he
- 22:29Speaker 1: had He had been on a date with every single
- 22:31Speaker 1: woman in Milwaukee and he could, so he had to
- 22:33Speaker 1: go out of city for that right on. Such a
- 22:36Speaker 1: funny scene though, such a funny scene. And that's how
- 22:38Speaker 1: you you know we all believe in miracles. Well that's
- 22:41Speaker 1: how that's what starts off your really cool arc about
- 22:44Speaker 1: testing your faith and and so was it dropped from you?
- 22:48Speaker 1: You mentioned earlier that it was was your was churks
- 22:51Speaker 1: religiousness dropped from here on out, Like, did it ever
- 22:54Speaker 1: come up? Did you stop wearing that cross? The cross,
- 22:57Speaker 1: by the way, you never see this cross ever before,
- 22:59Speaker 1: but in thisisode, becase you're supposed to be religious, the
- 23:01Speaker 1: crosses in every every shot. Well, we we shot it
- 23:04Speaker 1: in another episode also, but the cross is was it
- 23:07Speaker 1: was after this you don't see the cross anymore, Um,
- 23:10Speaker 1: I believe, And we don't talk about Turk's faith really anymore,
- 23:15Speaker 1: which is bizarre because at the end of the episode
- 23:17Speaker 1: your faith is restored. I mean, you literally have a
- 23:19Speaker 1: sign from God. Did you go save a pregnant woman
- 23:23Speaker 1: in the park? Right? Like? I just knew she was
- 23:25Speaker 1: in the park? Yeah? How did you just know? Did
- 23:27Speaker 1: you even know? Does Turk even know Sarah's storyline about
- 23:30Speaker 1: her having a pregnant woman? I think the I think
- 23:32Speaker 1: the whole hospital knows about it because she's escaped and
- 23:36Speaker 1: everybody's on the lookout. Okay, so you're on the roof,
- 23:39Speaker 1: by the way, how funny is it the Judy trying
- 23:41Speaker 1: to cheer you up, wants to bang on the roof
- 23:43Speaker 1: of the hospital. I know, I thought that was a
- 23:45Speaker 1: funny plot line, Like, here, baby, I'll cheer you up.
- 23:48Speaker 1: Let's have sex on this gravelly dirty rooftop. Yeah, I
- 23:52Speaker 1: look back at that. I look back at that and like, Turk,
- 23:54Speaker 1: what were you thinking? I love us, I love us,
- 23:58Speaker 1: I love I'm wanting it going to be so gross
- 24:00Speaker 1: and you're like, oh, what was Turk thinking? I mean, like,
- 24:09Speaker 1: I don't know. I think having sex in like really
- 24:12Speaker 1: awkward places is always so like such a thing you
- 24:15Speaker 1: only see in movies, Like, have you had sex and
- 24:17Speaker 1: awkward places before? Well, I'm not gonna go too into
- 24:20Speaker 1: my sex life for everybody, but I do. I think
- 24:23Speaker 1: I have hooked up on the beach with with with
- 24:25Speaker 1: someone and thought this looks way better in the movies.
- 24:29Speaker 1: There's like sand in my creases. Yeah. No, I have
- 24:32Speaker 1: never had sex and really any awkward. There you go.
- 24:37Speaker 1: We're giving the exclusive here on Fake Doctor's Real Friends,
- 24:39Speaker 1: Donald Phazong never having sex in an awkward place, Like
- 24:43Speaker 1: I know people that have done it in some crazy places.
- 24:45Speaker 1: I'm like, there's people who are into that. They're like
- 24:47Speaker 1: they like they think of it like naches on their belt,
- 24:49Speaker 1: like we you're not gonna believe where we bang the
- 24:51Speaker 1: hospital roof? Yeah, Turk and Carla, aren't that couple? What
- 24:58Speaker 1: about those people who bran rag about having sex on
- 25:01Speaker 1: air in airplane bathrooms. I always thought that would be
- 25:03Speaker 1: humiliating to come out of the bathroom and everyone's looking
- 25:07Speaker 1: at you and so obvious what you did. It's not. Well,
- 25:11Speaker 1: the thing is not a lot of people have the
- 25:14Speaker 1: opportunity to have sex over a mile above the earth, right,
- 25:18Speaker 1: And so I get the allure. Yeah, you do get
- 25:21Speaker 1: the allure. Yeah, I get the allure, but I'm not
- 25:23Speaker 1: really I'm not jealous of it. Like you just said,
- 25:26Speaker 1: I can't picture you doing that. It doesn't sound like
- 25:28Speaker 1: a very Donald phase on thing to do. I mean,
- 25:31Speaker 1: you never know, so you might. I mean if it's
- 25:34Speaker 1: a private jet, Oh, a private jet doesn't count. I'm
- 25:38Speaker 1: talking about a commercial airplane. Like yeah, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 25:41Speaker 1: especially now after what we're going through right now with
- 25:44Speaker 1: this whole quarantine thing. Before the quarantine, you would definitely
- 25:48Speaker 1: bang in a bathroom Before the quarantine, I think a
- 25:50Speaker 1: lot of people would be like, yeah, that's a possibility.
- 25:52Speaker 1: But I think after the quarantine thing, it's like there's
- 25:54Speaker 1: a little too much germs. I can't picture Casey Cobb
- 25:57Speaker 1: being like, there's no way, it's absolutely not. I would
- 26:00Speaker 1: be like, Babe, let's do it, and she'd look at
- 26:01Speaker 1: me like I was stupid. Should come home, buddy, my
- 26:04Speaker 1: own buddy. That's funny, all right. So the parks called
- 26:07Speaker 1: Miller Park. I couldn't help but think that might be
- 26:09Speaker 1: for Krista Miller. Okay, right, yeah, sure, the parks called
- 26:14Speaker 1: Miller Park. I mean Bill said he's not great at
- 26:16Speaker 1: naming shit. So speaking of Christa Miller, she's back. She's back,
- 26:21Speaker 1: and she looks beautiful and she's funny as shit. And
- 26:25Speaker 1: six thirty three is the first time I say banana hammock? Nelson,
- 26:29Speaker 1: what is a banana hammock? Is it the thing that
- 26:31Speaker 1: Rob that Rob aka Todd wears the tiny Yes? Yes,
- 26:37Speaker 1: and and and it's called a banana hammock because obviously
- 26:42Speaker 1: it's like laying your banana in a Hanna hammock. Okay,
- 26:46Speaker 1: now I guess there are people men that wear these
- 26:48Speaker 1: for real strippers. Yeah, I mean I think if you're comfortable,
- 26:53Speaker 1: if you don't have problems with your thighs rubbing together,
- 26:56Speaker 1: banana hammocks are very comfortable. Do you would could you
- 27:00Speaker 1: ever consider? Would you ever consider? No? Because before you answer,
- 27:04Speaker 1: if you knew you weren't going to be photographed by
- 27:06Speaker 1: a Papa rots So, by the way, singular of Papa
- 27:09Speaker 1: Rozzi is Papa Rozzo. I don't know if you knew that. Okay,
- 27:12Speaker 1: if you knew that you weren't going to be photographed
- 27:14Speaker 1: and it would just be you on the beach and
- 27:16Speaker 1: wherever Brazil, would you would you rock one of those?
- 27:19Speaker 1: If I had no worry about anyone ever seeing me
- 27:22Speaker 1: in this, yeah, then why not go nude? Right? No,
- 27:26Speaker 1: I'm talking about you're stole a beach, people are like around, No,
- 27:29Speaker 1: then no, I would not rock one. If people are around,
- 27:32Speaker 1: then no, I would never. I sometimes think it would
- 27:36Speaker 1: be fun to wear a speedo like you know. Um again,
- 27:39Speaker 1: I don't want to wear it and have people look
- 27:41Speaker 1: at me and judge, you know, everything going on. But
- 27:44Speaker 1: I think I just think sometimes when I see people
- 27:46Speaker 1: wearing them, I go, I think that might feel nice
- 27:48Speaker 1: have a speedo on be out and about. Yeah, I don't,
- 27:51Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't, I don't. I'd prefer to.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I have issues with like chafing with my thighs and
- 27:56Speaker 1: stuff like that because we don't have a thigh gap. Yeah,
- 28:00Speaker 1: I got quads and I got some thigh gap. I
- 28:05Speaker 1: think I might have a thigh gap. Let me see. Yeah,
- 28:08Speaker 1: I have a little thigh gap. I don't have a
- 28:10Speaker 1: thigh gap. My my, my, my inner thigh touch. Yeah,
- 28:14Speaker 1: they clap, they clap. That's the worst. Oh, you want
- 28:17Speaker 1: to talk about feeling uh, feeling uh running with the
- 28:24Speaker 1: chief after a while and then having the burn in between.
- 28:29Speaker 1: You can't jog because of your thighs. I can jog
- 28:31Speaker 1: if I put on something like compression shorts, but I
- 28:33Speaker 1: can't wear like. I can't wear tidy whities like I
- 28:35Speaker 1: don't wear tighty whities because even just walking is an
- 28:38Speaker 1: issue with tighty whities. Yeah. I don't where tidy whities
- 28:41Speaker 1: anymore either, but I used to be quite loyal to them. Yea.
- 28:45Speaker 1: The janitor is for no reason that ninety punched in
- 28:49Speaker 1: the balls by a little girl, and um both the
- 28:52Speaker 1: little girl and the mom acknowledge the janitor. So um, Bill,
- 28:59Speaker 1: Since you hold fast to the idea that the janitor
- 29:02Speaker 1: only reacted with j D in season one and may
- 29:05Speaker 1: have been a figment of his imagination, why is it
- 29:09Speaker 1: that a little girl randomly punches Neil in the balls
- 29:12Speaker 1: and he reacts? Yeah, when the janitor got hitting the
- 29:17Speaker 1: balls by that girl, like the nine and a half
- 29:20Speaker 1: minute mark. You want me to explain how the janitor
- 29:25Speaker 1: can only interact with j D if this actually happened,
- 29:28Speaker 1: that's easy. Um five, stop fucking guy, Um the old
- 29:38Speaker 1: school PSA. Yes, great, hilarious, so funny, very funny, and
- 29:43Speaker 1: very clever. Yeah, I mean really and and just well executed.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Kudos to Jeff Melman the director, and and Deb for
- 29:51Speaker 1: writing it. I thought that was just really clever, really
- 29:53Speaker 1: well executed. Those those sort of spoofing those nineteen fifties
- 29:57Speaker 1: you know, what do you call them instructional videos? Yes,
- 30:01Speaker 1: But then afterward, after the fantasy was over, we did
- 30:04Speaker 1: it again where the person who did the voice over
- 30:09Speaker 1: for the fantasy is now in the room with you, right,
- 30:11Speaker 1: and he brings up like communism as though he's still
- 30:14Speaker 1: back in the fifties, right, and then looks he's looking
- 30:17Speaker 1: off into the distance, I guess into nowhere, and then
- 30:21Speaker 1: you look at him to see what he's looking at, right,
- 30:23Speaker 1: and then you exit that direction. I think he was
- 30:25Speaker 1: trying to be one of those like, you know, picture
- 30:28Speaker 1: like a nineteen fifties announcer guy who's like looking off
- 30:30Speaker 1: into the distance and thus we will fight communism and so,
- 30:34Speaker 1: and then he's sort of frozen like that. And then
- 30:36Speaker 1: but it was sort of a JD sort of head look.
- 30:38Speaker 1: So then I kind of did a look to him
- 30:40Speaker 1: like are you doing my thing? Or what are you
- 30:41Speaker 1: looking at? And then I try to look where he
- 30:43Speaker 1: was going. But that's pulling out of a fantasy and
- 30:46Speaker 1: still being yes, you know, it's rather example. That's not
- 30:49Speaker 1: something that happened too often. No, this is like then
- 30:52Speaker 1: the second time it happened. Well, we talked about the
- 30:54Speaker 1: guy who was frozen after at the orderly, who was
- 30:57Speaker 1: frozen after everybody else was frozen. It's not something I
- 31:00Speaker 1: think Bill. I think he said that he started phasing
- 31:03Speaker 1: that out, but I thought it was clever, very clever.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Same here, um, I UM, I have a couple of things.
- 31:12Speaker 1: We shaved the baby. I laughed out loud. I laughed
- 31:15Speaker 1: out loud. I shaved the baby, shaved in a haircut.
- 31:21Speaker 1: Two Yeah, I laughed out loud. That was JD's jad's
- 31:25Speaker 1: um improvisation for solving the problem. We shaved the baby.
- 31:28Speaker 1: You shaved the baby, yep, shaved the baby, shave and
- 31:34Speaker 1: a haircut. Long pause, two bits. Bill told me um
- 31:40Speaker 1: early on that one of the things he loved about
- 31:43Speaker 1: Michael J. Fox working on Spin City was that Michael J.
- 31:47Speaker 1: And everybody when you think about this, when you hear this,
- 31:49Speaker 1: you'll think about family ties. And some of the amazing
- 31:53Speaker 1: timing he had was that he knew how long he
- 31:57Speaker 1: could milk a pause before that punchline. Like Michael J.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Fox was fucking genius at you know, I'll just use
- 32:04Speaker 1: this this example, how long he could have the audience,
- 32:06Speaker 1: especially if the audience got ahead of it. He knew
- 32:09Speaker 1: that you still, I mean, it's even better with a
- 32:11Speaker 1: sitcom live audience, but he knew that shaven a haircut,
- 32:18Speaker 1: you know, like he could he could just milk it.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Even if the audience started and a sitcom started giggling
- 32:24Speaker 1: because they were ahead of it. He could just milk that.
- 32:27Speaker 1: And Bill said, and I think I think that landed
- 32:29Speaker 1: in my head in some of my scrubs timings because
- 32:32Speaker 1: I wanted to impress him like Michael J. Fox. But
- 32:36Speaker 1: but I but I I always think of that when
- 32:38Speaker 1: you watch some of Michael J. Fox's amazing timing, how
- 32:41Speaker 1: how he could just he just was a master of
- 32:43Speaker 1: how long to hold it like even let the audience
- 32:45Speaker 1: get ahead of it. It's fine, and then say, and
- 32:47Speaker 1: it would be so much more gratifying, right, I mean,
- 32:50Speaker 1: Michael J. Fox is you know, one of our our
- 32:52Speaker 1: best when it comes to Family Ties. Did you watch
- 32:56Speaker 1: Family Ties? Of course I watched Family Ties. He was
- 32:59Speaker 1: amazing in that. And also Back to the Future, you know,
- 33:02Speaker 1: the first. I talk about Back to the Future a
- 33:04Speaker 1: lot because it's one of my favorite movies, but the
- 33:06Speaker 1: first Back to the Future. I know there's some plot
- 33:08Speaker 1: holes in it that a lot of people can't get over,
- 33:12Speaker 1: but to me, that movie is almost flawless, you know
- 33:14Speaker 1: what I mean. As far as time travel stories are
- 33:17Speaker 1: so difficult to do, you know what I mean? And
- 33:20Speaker 1: or I shouldn't say it difficult to do. I should say,
- 33:22Speaker 1: they're just doing a time travel story. It's been done
- 33:26Speaker 1: so many times before, and so you have to be
- 33:29Speaker 1: pretty creative to make it feel like, oh, this is
- 33:33Speaker 1: oh you know, people say another time travel story. But
- 33:35Speaker 1: if it's as good as Back to the Future was,
- 33:40Speaker 1: you accept it and you're willing to go on the ride.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Otherwise it's like some cheese shit and you you know,
- 33:46Speaker 1: theory gets in the way of a lot of stuff,
- 33:48Speaker 1: and they just it's just one of those movies that
- 33:53Speaker 1: you know, you make a it's just it's in my opinion,
- 33:55Speaker 1: it's one. It's a perfect movie. And wasn't it amazing
- 33:58Speaker 1: that a movie you could turn out that good? Good?
- 34:00Speaker 1: And it was a film that they started over because
- 34:03Speaker 1: they recast the lead, right yeah, well yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 34:07Speaker 1: I mean you mentioned this, you mentioned this before. But
- 34:09Speaker 1: for those of you who didn't hear that or didn't
- 34:11Speaker 1: know it was originally Eric Stoltz, I don't know how
- 34:13Speaker 1: long they shot. You read the book. Do you remember
- 34:15Speaker 1: they shot half of the movie, So they shot all
- 34:17Speaker 1: of the stuff that credible. They shot half of the
- 34:20Speaker 1: fucking movie. Yeah, so they shot everything in the fifties.
- 34:23Speaker 1: What they talk about They talk about the movie like,
- 34:26Speaker 1: you know, Michael J. Fox is very athletic. It's the
- 34:29Speaker 1: name of this book. Do you remember. For people don't
- 34:30Speaker 1: remember it, dude tweeted, but they shot half the movie
- 34:35Speaker 1: and they said, you know, Michael J. Fox is very athletic.
- 34:39Speaker 1: But they said Eric Stolts on a skateboard was magic.
- 34:41Speaker 1: He just seemed way more at home on a skateboard
- 34:44Speaker 1: than it was a skateboard. Yeah, right, then Michael J.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Fox did, and you know the rock and roll side
- 34:50Speaker 1: of things. They say in the book, you know, Eric
- 34:52Speaker 1: Stoltz had that, you know, has that very much grund
- 34:56Speaker 1: rock appeal to him, you know what I mean. And
- 34:59Speaker 1: my Jay Fox is you know, he is he is
- 35:02Speaker 1: what he is. He's you know, when you look at him,
- 35:06Speaker 1: you're not like, yo, that dude is just Lickson's to
- 35:10Speaker 1: rock all it. Even even if he does, you know
- 35:11Speaker 1: what I mean, he doesn't have that look to him.
- 35:14Speaker 1: And they said, Eric did it just didn't work out. Yeah,
- 35:18Speaker 1: I mean, how humbling can you imagine your I mean,
- 35:20Speaker 1: thank god. Eric Stoltz went on to have this incredible
- 35:22Speaker 1: career and holy shit in Mask if you have And
- 35:26Speaker 1: that's the thing. So they talk about that in the book.
- 35:28Speaker 1: The reason why he was put in the movie was
- 35:29Speaker 1: because he had Mask, the Mask coming out, you know
- 35:32Speaker 1: what I mean, And so they were banking on him
- 35:34Speaker 1: getting nominated for an Academy Award for that movie, but
- 35:37Speaker 1: then being in this blockbuster action adventure time travel movie.
- 35:42Speaker 1: The name of the book is Back to the Future.
- 35:45Speaker 1: I got to click on The Ultimate Visual History. Yes,
- 35:48Speaker 1: Back to the Future, The Ultimate Visual History by Michael klasterin. Yeah,
- 35:54Speaker 1: so if you're a fan of the movie, uh, like
- 35:57Speaker 1: as much as Donald is, you might want to check
- 35:59Speaker 1: that out because it sounds fascinating. I'm always fascinating these
- 36:02Speaker 1: production stories where someone's recast or they start over. I mean,
- 36:06Speaker 1: I don't know if it's true, so don't hold me
- 36:08Speaker 1: to this, But I heard that American Beauty, which is
- 36:10Speaker 1: one of my favorite movies, they shot like, not not
- 36:12Speaker 1: as much as this, but they shot like a week
- 36:14Speaker 1: of and and um, and the director said, uh, to
- 36:19Speaker 1: the producers, I I didn't get the tone quite right.
- 36:22Speaker 1: You know, the tone of American media is so specific.
- 36:24Speaker 1: And as the as the rumor I heard goes, he said,
- 36:28Speaker 1: I just didn't quite nail it. I need to I
- 36:30Speaker 1: need to scrap that week and start over. And and
- 36:32Speaker 1: the DreamWorks producers, including Spielberg and the other fellows, let
- 36:36Speaker 1: him do it. That's interesting because Spielberg's very much involved
- 36:38Speaker 1: in Back to the Future as so maybe he's the
- 36:41Speaker 1: kind of producer that if you're lets it with Sam Mende.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Sorry Sam Mendi's first film, and I love American Beauty,
- 36:46Speaker 1: please see that if you haven't. But I again, it
- 36:49Speaker 1: might be Hollywood lore, but I heard that that that
- 36:51Speaker 1: they sort of started over again on that one. So
- 36:53Speaker 1: these stories where where some movie is so incredible, it
- 36:57Speaker 1: has such an impact, and then there's there's something that
- 36:59Speaker 1: happened where they happens all the time some you know,
- 37:03Speaker 1: some Star Wars movie. They did that with some of
- 37:04Speaker 1: the Star Wars movies, like Rogue one. Apparently there's a
- 37:07Speaker 1: whole you know, they shot almost all of Rogue one
- 37:11Speaker 1: and went back and reshot a lot of the stuff
- 37:14Speaker 1: in it. Really, yeah, same thing with the same thing
- 37:17Speaker 1: with Solo. You remember, you know, of course that's changing,
- 37:20Speaker 1: that's changing the directors, that's that's seven crazy. Yeah, but
- 37:23Speaker 1: there's a whole cut. There's a whole movie. According to Lore,
- 37:26Speaker 1: there's a whole movie that they made that you can
- 37:29Speaker 1: actually take all of the special effects and all of
- 37:32Speaker 1: the things that they did in the actual Solo movie
- 37:37Speaker 1: and you can put it into what they shot and
- 37:40Speaker 1: it's a completely different movie, but it still all fits.
- 37:42Speaker 1: What do you think happen? They were obviously my guesses,
- 37:45Speaker 1: they were just doing their hilarious improv comedic thing. And
- 37:48Speaker 1: then Kathleen Kennedy that's her name, did she just not
- 37:51Speaker 1: like that style? She's saying that's not Star Wars. No,
- 37:53Speaker 1: I don't know if it was her. I don't know
- 37:55Speaker 1: if it was I don't know if it was the
- 37:57Speaker 1: writer of the movie, who's gone on to write some
- 38:00Speaker 1: incredible movies. H Jonathan Kasden. It's Jonathan, but his dad
- 38:05Speaker 1: wrote Raiders the Lost Ark. Yeah. Lawrence Kasten, Yeah, he
- 38:08Speaker 1: wrote Raised in the Lost Ark The Empire strikes Back,
- 38:11Speaker 1: and they both teamed up to right solo. I don't
- 38:13Speaker 1: know what happened. I'd love to know that story. We
- 38:15Speaker 1: could reach out to them and they want to be
- 38:16Speaker 1: on the podcast, and right here they want to talk
- 38:19Speaker 1: about I don't think even if we were to get
- 38:21Speaker 1: Chris and Phil on the podcast, I don't think they're
- 38:23Speaker 1: gonna out there whole. So let's ask Jonathan Kaston and
- 38:26Speaker 1: Lawrence Caston. All right, they'll never do it. I don't
- 38:29Speaker 1: think they'll do it. How cool would it be if
- 38:30Speaker 1: I could go and cut two and then they said it.
- 38:32Speaker 1: You know, as the podcast gets bigger and bigger, maybe
- 38:35Speaker 1: we'll be able to get like really fancy guests like
- 38:37Speaker 1: and now Lawrence Kasten. Um. Yeah. I always wondered what
- 38:43Speaker 1: happened with that, because I don't know why you'd hire
- 38:45Speaker 1: Christen phil If not to do what they do so well,
- 38:48Speaker 1: which was to make it funny. And it seems to
- 38:51Speaker 1: me not as someone who's just dialed into the Star
- 38:53Speaker 1: Wars universe as you. But when I think of Han Solo,
- 38:56Speaker 1: I think, oh, let's give him some some jokes, Let's
- 38:58Speaker 1: have him be quippy and funny. And it seemed like
- 39:01Speaker 1: a perfect marriage. But it would be a real interesting
- 39:04Speaker 1: it'd be very interesting to see that. You know that
- 39:07Speaker 1: side effects and I love Solo, you know what I mean.
- 39:08Speaker 1: There are a lot of people out there that really
- 39:11Speaker 1: liked that movie, and I'm one of those people. Um,
- 39:14Speaker 1: it's a fun Star Wars movie. So then Ron Howard
- 39:17Speaker 1: came in, and you know, he's an amazing director himself, right,
- 39:21Speaker 1: you know, it's one of my favorite Ron Howard movies,
- 39:23Speaker 1: His Parenthood, the movie if you have great cast, great movie.
- 39:28Speaker 1: He went on to make a very popular TV show,
- 39:30Speaker 1: starting My Doppelgang or Dak Shephard. I'm gonna take something
- 39:33Speaker 1: right now. That movie has one of my favorite actors.
- 39:36Speaker 1: I am a huge fan of Rick Moranis. Yeah, has been.
- 39:39Speaker 1: He's amazing. Yeah, he's on his way. I guess he's
- 39:42Speaker 1: he's agreed to do another project. I don't know what
- 39:44Speaker 1: it is, but he's honey, I shrunk the kids. Maybe
- 39:46Speaker 1: he's coming back for that. That would be so awesome.
- 39:48Speaker 1: I know they're redoing that with Josh Gadd and I
- 39:51Speaker 1: think of that he might be joining him. Joel's nodding
- 39:55Speaker 1: so that. Yeah. Rick moranis tragically lost his wife at
- 39:58Speaker 1: the height of his career, so he quit to raise
- 40:00Speaker 1: his children, and now his children are growing and he's
- 40:03Speaker 1: coming back and I'm so excited. God, he's so talented.
- 40:07Speaker 1: I'm so I'm so happy he's coming back. Funny funny man.
- 40:18Speaker 1: All right, let's get back to the show. Let's get
- 40:20Speaker 1: back to the show. Donald one of my favorite fantasies.
- 40:23Speaker 1: Uh and I still use it to this day. I
- 40:25Speaker 1: A'm buying it trying to sell somebody the book on
- 40:30Speaker 1: the kid getting hit, the baby with prenatal lice. Yeah,
- 40:33Speaker 1: and Christa says, Jorda says, I'm buying it at the
- 40:38Speaker 1: funny buying it. That's funny. And you passed something that
- 40:40Speaker 1: I want to say still about shaving the baby's head.
- 40:42Speaker 1: That was funny. Oh when when Johnny sees mad that
- 40:44Speaker 1: I didn't correctly tape over them. By the way, for
- 40:47Speaker 1: those of you young, that's that's a VHS recorder. So
- 40:50Speaker 1: there used to be these giant tapes called VHS tapes. Um.
- 40:54Speaker 1: But I was laughing, and when Johnny SE's yelling at
- 40:56Speaker 1: me because I fucked up the tape and I go
- 40:59Speaker 1: I was there, I could you know, jot down some
- 41:03Speaker 1: of my feelings and impressions. It's very I could I could,
- 41:09Speaker 1: you know, shot down some of my feelings and impressions, like,
- 41:14Speaker 1: I was good, What am I gonna do? Like write down?
- 41:16Speaker 1: Like and then the head emerge. Um, let's talk about
- 41:22Speaker 1: Johnny c McGinley as the Grinch. That was really funny.
- 41:25Speaker 1: He nailed that, Yes he did. Yeah. And the words
- 41:29Speaker 1: that he's saying are those words from doctor Seus's nurse.
- 41:33Speaker 1: I think they're supposed to be doctor Susy, but they're
- 41:35Speaker 1: not real sus But they're not real suss words. Yeah.
- 41:38Speaker 1: But they did a great job on his hair and makeup.
- 41:40Speaker 1: I thought he looked really cool and he was. It
- 41:41Speaker 1: was funny looking. I wonder how long he was in
- 41:43Speaker 1: hair and makeup for I could I could tell from
- 41:45Speaker 1: from being on the show. That was hours and hours
- 41:47Speaker 1: and hours. He had hair like green hair glued to
- 41:50Speaker 1: his face and stuff. Yeah, Sinner Man by Nina Simone,
- 41:53Speaker 1: which is they really must have rolled out the bucks
- 41:56Speaker 1: for it to pay for Nina Simone on this episode.
- 41:58Speaker 1: As you run to the to Miller Park to park,
- 42:02Speaker 1: you know that that was what I was talking about
- 42:04Speaker 1: when we were talking about the platform shoes, and they
- 42:09Speaker 1: made Deontay do all of the things that you saw
- 42:11Speaker 1: me do in that episode in like twelve inch platform shoes. However,
- 42:16Speaker 1: sure how much shorter he is than me by eight inch? Whatever?
- 42:19Speaker 1: Why are you running? Why are you running like a
- 42:21Speaker 1: cartoon character? Do you notice that? It's like this really
- 42:23Speaker 1: dramatic moment and then you're taking corners. You know how
- 42:26Speaker 1: when cartoon people run, they like skid at the corners
- 42:29Speaker 1: and they have to like like catch you. You're doing
- 42:32Speaker 1: that ship Well, it's all come. It all comes from
- 42:35Speaker 1: Michael J. Fox Man speaking. We spoke about him earlier.
- 42:39Speaker 1: It really is true, man, Mike. Michael J. Fox had
- 42:42Speaker 1: some of the best running moments in the history of
- 42:46Speaker 1: running in teen Wolf when he's running through the halls
- 42:49Speaker 1: and the guys mopping and he's like it's slippery that way,
- 42:52Speaker 1: and Mike runs through and then slides all the way
- 42:55Speaker 1: through camera, run away through the hallway and then comes
- 42:58Speaker 1: running back. But as he's coming back, he's trying to
- 43:01Speaker 1: keep his balance on this slippery floor. So you're saying
- 43:03Speaker 1: that moment you're running, and this was inspiring everything everything
- 43:06Speaker 1: I you know, everything I've done. Everything I do, I
- 43:11Speaker 1: do it for you, I do it for Michael J.
- 43:13Speaker 1: F Well, no, but every there's a you know, whether
- 43:16Speaker 1: it's a run or a walk, or you know, a
- 43:19Speaker 1: facial expression. A lot of these come from my favorite actors,
- 43:23Speaker 1: So like Harrison Ford, Denzel Washington, Sydney Portier, Michael J. Fox,
- 43:28Speaker 1: Rick Moranis, Robin Williams, Bill Murray. You know, all of
- 43:32Speaker 1: these people did something that I saw and I was like,
- 43:35Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna try and do wrote I wrote
- 43:39Speaker 1: down in nineteen eighteen. Turk runs like a cartoon character. Right,
- 43:42Speaker 1: that all came from me trying to run like Michael J. Fox. Yeah,
- 43:46Speaker 1: So Turke gets a sign. He's on the roof again, Right,
- 43:49Speaker 1: You're on the roof again. Yeah, and you're just up
- 43:51Speaker 1: there having a moment and you have a come to
- 43:53Speaker 1: Jesus moment if you will that there's a pregnant woman
- 43:56Speaker 1: about to give birth in the park, and you run
- 44:00Speaker 1: and you run like a cartoon character to Nina Simone's
- 44:03Speaker 1: Center Man beautiful song and uh, and then you run
- 44:07Speaker 1: to the park and you deliver a baby. Now that
- 44:09Speaker 1: Turk probably hasn't delivered that many babies. Well, he's a surgeon,
- 44:12Speaker 1: but he's not. Yeah, he's probably done a fair amount.
- 44:15Speaker 1: I imagine that he's he's not a guy, no, but
- 44:17Speaker 1: I know him. I want to go to something that
- 44:20Speaker 1: Joel to speaking of guy knows we're jumping around. But
- 44:23Speaker 1: in the very beginning the episode, Kelso is is being
- 44:25Speaker 1: sexist and saying to Sarah that she's going to become
- 44:29Speaker 1: a guy in college ob gyn and then Joel found
- 44:32Speaker 1: this thing. According to an article by the American Medical
- 44:34Speaker 1: Association the Breakdown of Specialties dominated by women in twenty
- 44:39Speaker 1: nineteen UM, eighty three point four percent of ob GYNs
- 44:44Speaker 1: are women. Wow, and seventy two percent of pediatricians are women.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Am I reading that right? You all so? Well? I
- 44:56Speaker 1: mean I was offended by Kelso. I was like, fuck
- 44:59Speaker 1: this guy. And then Joel handed me this, and uh,
- 45:03Speaker 1: you know, I guess, but I understand that, Like I
- 45:06Speaker 1: I was your was your have your ob gyn's been
- 45:09Speaker 1: been female? Or male? Uh? First one was a guy?
- 45:13Speaker 1: I was asking Donald Joel, but please, oh my god, Joel,
- 45:20Speaker 1: this question, like for his wife, got laughing so hard.
- 45:26Speaker 1: JoBelle got so lost in the episode she started answering,
- 45:30Speaker 1: you're totally asking Joel. Sorry, I want I want you
- 45:33Speaker 1: to answer. Don't get me wrong, but you go first,
- 45:36Speaker 1: and then we'll call on Donald. Donald has had eleven
- 45:38Speaker 1: thousand children, So I wanted to know what go for you, Joel?
- 45:41Speaker 1: Have your obg y n's been uh? Mostly say? Mostly? Yeah?
- 45:46Speaker 1: Three women? One guy? How about you? Donald's my life,
- 45:48Speaker 1: Casey's is a male m hm and you and and
- 45:52Speaker 1: your other other baby mamas? Do you remember? You don't remember?
- 45:55Speaker 1: It's okay not to remember. I don't. I feel like
- 45:57Speaker 1: if I was giving birth and I had of a giant,
- 46:00Speaker 1: i'd want a woman. But maybe I'm maybe that's ridiculous
- 46:02Speaker 1: to say, I just what's my gut response? Okay, Well,
- 46:05Speaker 1: here's a here's a here's a good survey. We should
- 46:07Speaker 1: we should do and we won't and we won't use
- 46:09Speaker 1: uh that as an example. Let's use massaging as an example. Okay, yeah, yeah,
- 46:15Speaker 1: because that's pretty intimate and it's harmless. And what do
- 46:17Speaker 1: you get a man or a woman? Exactly? What do
- 46:20Speaker 1: you get a man? I always get a woman? Same here,
- 46:22Speaker 1: Joel the strongest hands? Who has the strongest hands? You
- 46:28Speaker 1: say who's got the best hands? So when they say
- 46:31Speaker 1: manner or female? Male or female, you say strongest hands. Absolutely.
- 46:34Speaker 1: Oh the end. I thought it was funny that Sarah
- 46:36Speaker 1: was you're holding Judy like in front of you, but
- 46:39Speaker 1: Sarah's holding me in front of her, right in front
- 46:42Speaker 1: of the Christmas tree. Yes, yes, funny. I also there
- 46:46Speaker 1: was one other part that we should talk about, and
- 46:48Speaker 1: that's uh, when Cox and Jordan are fighting each other
- 46:52Speaker 1: about the haircut, shaving and everything like that, and then
- 46:55Speaker 1: you jump in the middle and then they automatically turn
- 46:58Speaker 1: on j D. And that's a lesson that I've learned
- 47:02Speaker 1: at ay, that I learned at a young age. I
- 47:05Speaker 1: guess JD was never you know, I didn't have friends
- 47:08Speaker 1: that had brothers or sisters or anything like that. But
- 47:11Speaker 1: never get involved in a couple of fighting. You stay
- 47:13Speaker 1: out of it unless unless they invite you into the argument.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Stay away because that thing will turn on you so quick.
- 47:21Speaker 1: It's hard sometimes because you want to weigh in but
- 47:23Speaker 1: you can't. But you can't. You gotta keep it to yourself.
- 47:25Speaker 1: You gotta keep it to yourself. I had friends growing up,
- 47:28Speaker 1: the Rogers brothers. There was four of them, right, and
- 47:30Speaker 1: they would you know, when they fought, they would fight viciously,
- 47:34Speaker 1: punching and grabbing and choking, and you know, they would
- 47:36Speaker 1: beat each other up and you'd be like, you guys
- 47:38Speaker 1: are brothers, Stop it, and you'd get in the middle
- 47:41Speaker 1: of it, and then their anger all of a sudden
- 47:44Speaker 1: went from them wanting to kick each other's ass to
- 47:47Speaker 1: now them kicking your ass. And two on one ain't fun, dude,
- 47:50Speaker 1: or three on one, four on one ain't fun, man,
- 47:52Speaker 1: and it would be it would be I would So
- 47:55Speaker 1: when JD did that to Jordan and Cox, I was like,
- 48:00Speaker 1: that's the dumb that's the that's a rookie mistake. That's
- 48:03Speaker 1: the dumbest move ever. Never get involved in couples arguing
- 48:06Speaker 1: right right, well, I I definitely try and stay out,
- 48:10Speaker 1: But in your head you're thinking like you're you're judging,
- 48:12Speaker 1: and you're saying, like, why aren't you also happy when
- 48:14Speaker 1: you're out in public and you see a couple of
- 48:16Speaker 1: fighting and you're like, yes, it's not me. Yeah, absolutely absolutely.
- 48:20Speaker 1: That's the one thing that my wife and I tried
- 48:22Speaker 1: not to do. It's always like to wait, wait till
- 48:25Speaker 1: we get home, wait till we Oh, really you do
- 48:27Speaker 1: the wait till we get home? Well, I don't do that.
- 48:29Speaker 1: That's what she does to me. Really, we can talk
- 48:31Speaker 1: when we get home. We go right and I know
- 48:35Speaker 1: right there and now I'm not going to I'm not
- 48:36Speaker 1: going to sleep tonight. And then you have to drive
- 48:39Speaker 1: home and just like in silence. Yeah, and then we
- 48:42Speaker 1: walk in and it's on. And my wife's the type
- 48:46Speaker 1: of person that's like, I don't like going to ben
- 48:48Speaker 1: mad Well, at least she has it out, you know.
- 48:50Speaker 1: I I think that's way better to have it out,
- 48:52Speaker 1: even if it's like impassioned, rather than just sitting on it.
- 48:55Speaker 1: I hate that and U and I don't think you
- 48:57Speaker 1: should go to sleep mad either. I think that's a
- 49:00Speaker 1: good a good habit to have. Trying. Dude, I've been
- 49:03Speaker 1: I've been damn near sleeping where I'm just in huh,
- 49:07Speaker 1: where I'm passed out, my eyes are closed and I'm
- 49:09Speaker 1: just agreeing now, right, just so I could go to
- 49:12Speaker 1: sleep the Path of Least Resistance and She'll be like,
- 49:15Speaker 1: so what did I say? And I'd be like, oh, gosh,
- 49:17Speaker 1: here you go. See you are listening. I was listening.
- 49:24Speaker 1: Don't go to Ben angry. Everybody that's lessing here from
- 49:27Speaker 1: fake doctor's real friends. Oh, one last thing I've forgotten.
- 49:31Speaker 1: Let's ask Bill about this. Also, go ahead, before we're
- 49:33Speaker 1: gonna go to We're gonna get Bill two this week. Okay,
- 49:35Speaker 1: go ahead, Yeah, okay, So there was an alternate ending
- 49:38Speaker 1: to this episode, right, but that's that's so dark. Note
- 49:41Speaker 1: it's so dark. It was so dark to end the
- 49:44Speaker 1: Christmas episode. I wasn't even bring it up because we
- 49:45Speaker 1: were being so giddy and it's a bit it's a
- 49:47Speaker 1: bit dark, but okay, go for it. But yeah, there
- 49:49Speaker 1: was a dark ending to this episode, and I'm sure
- 49:51Speaker 1: that I don't think it wasn't was it an ending
- 49:53Speaker 1: or it was a subplot that was woven through. I
- 49:55Speaker 1: think it was a subplot. It might have been. Let's
- 49:57Speaker 1: ask Bill Bill. I know at the end of this episode,
- 50:00Speaker 1: there was a moment in between Jordan and Uh we
- 50:04Speaker 1: almost forgot about the call. There was a moment with
- 50:07Speaker 1: Jordan and uh and Cox where they said something different
- 50:13Speaker 1: when they were looking at the baby when they finally
- 50:15Speaker 1: went to visit the baby and it there was no
- 50:18Speaker 1: there was a subplot. Do you want me to tell
- 50:20Speaker 1: you what it is and then have Bill talk about it? Sure,
- 50:22Speaker 1: there was a subplot that they when they were together,
- 50:24Speaker 1: had lost a child, and um, so that was some
- 50:29Speaker 1: of the dramatic undertones of of of them and dealing
- 50:33Speaker 1: with their friends having a new baby, and that's why
- 50:36Speaker 1: they didn't want to go to the room, right. And
- 50:38Speaker 1: I believe or the or the nursery where you see kids,
- 50:42Speaker 1: and I believe that Bill had an argument with the
- 50:44Speaker 1: network about cutting that out. So Bill tell us about
- 50:49Speaker 1: that and what your struggle with the network was, please,
- 50:52Speaker 1: you know, it's interesting. I don't remember specifically the struggle
- 50:55Speaker 1: with the Jordan Cox losing a baby thing. But the
- 50:58Speaker 1: one thing that we were always dealing with early on
- 51:01Speaker 1: in Scrubs was that we would pitch the network stories
- 51:06Speaker 1: that weren't specifically comedies, you know, and it didn't sound like, Hey,
- 51:11Speaker 1: three patients come in and one of the three of
- 51:13Speaker 1: them are going to die, but they all three die. Hey,
- 51:15Speaker 1: doctor Cox used to be married to someone. They lost
- 51:17Speaker 1: a baby. Hey, we're gonna introduce a super big movie
- 51:22Speaker 1: star guest star who seems really funny and jovial, but
- 51:24Speaker 1: he's gonna have Lukemian then come back next year and
- 51:27Speaker 1: die from it. So we always met resistance. Thank you, Bill.
- 51:31Speaker 1: Let's take a break. We'll be right back after these
- 51:34Speaker 1: fine words. Now, Joelle, I believe we have a caller
- 51:46Speaker 1: or two. Hi, guys, how are you doing? Brian good?
- 51:50Speaker 1: How are you Brian O'Malley? Oh my god, Brian, you
- 51:54Speaker 1: got to record that somehow? You good? I am recording
- 51:56Speaker 1: it actually you And you know what, Brian, that can
- 51:58Speaker 1: be your your new ring tone, Donald giving you an
- 52:00Speaker 1: oprah oh mav and why oh man, that is definitely
- 52:07Speaker 1: gonna happ Speaking of ring tones, I digress for a moment.
- 52:10Speaker 1: The good people at I Heeart are putting together the
- 52:13Speaker 1: ability for for folks to have our theme song be
- 52:17Speaker 1: your ring tone. We're working on it, and that's in
- 52:20Speaker 1: the works because I've gotten been getting a lot of
- 52:22Speaker 1: love on the social media for our theme song, especially
- 52:24Speaker 1: Wilder's version, and um, Wilder's version will not be that's
- 52:29Speaker 1: not going to be available for Wilder's version will not
- 52:31Speaker 1: be available for ring Tone, although I did her. A
- 52:33Speaker 1: lot of people say that should be the new version
- 52:35Speaker 1: forget your version, but those people are wrong. Um, but
- 52:38Speaker 1: pretty bright. What's your drinking? Man? What are you drinking? Brian? Uh?
- 52:42Speaker 1: This is beer? Okay? What kind of beer you got there?
- 52:45Speaker 1: It's like a hazy I pa juicy eight percent. I
- 52:49Speaker 1: like stuff that's strong. Okay, Well I got myself a
- 52:51Speaker 1: little margarita. Is that just like lime juice? Tequila? I
- 52:57Speaker 1: don't know what they use at Casa Vega. This rescigborhood
- 53:00Speaker 1: that they that you're still drinking out of your your
- 53:02Speaker 1: gallons there? We have so many. Yeah, oh that's awesome. Um,
- 53:06Speaker 1: Hi guys, where do you live in? What's happening in? Brian?
- 53:08Speaker 1: Introduce your your girlfriend, wife, friend? This is my partner.
- 53:13Speaker 1: This is uh doctor Ellen, a Greec Hi doc. And
- 53:17Speaker 1: uh we live in Evanston. Oh, I went to Northwestern right, Yeah,
- 53:22Speaker 1: so we we we both worked a here actually too.
- 53:26Speaker 1: Um she works at a hospital here and I own
- 53:28Speaker 1: a small business on Central Street, you know, right down
- 53:30Speaker 1: from the stadium. Um and so yeah we just um
- 53:34Speaker 1: we do that. And Ellen is uh eight and yeah
- 53:39Speaker 1: almost nine months pregnant, Emma. Congratulations, congratulations you guys know
- 53:44Speaker 1: what you're having a boy? Nice? Is there a person?
- 53:47Speaker 1: But yeah, a person? Good? Congratulations guys. That's cool. Yeah,
- 53:52Speaker 1: way to go, guys. Yeah, so we're you know, it's
- 53:55Speaker 1: definitely uh anxiety causing you know, I I we neither
- 53:59Speaker 1: of us have had kids before. Um. I used to
- 54:01Speaker 1: be a teacher. But it's not quite the same when
- 54:04Speaker 1: you know you can send them home at like three
- 54:05Speaker 1: o'clock and just be done with them. Um. So now
- 54:08Speaker 1: it's like they're here for good. Okay, Brian, I'm gonna
- 54:10Speaker 1: give you a little bit of you're talking to the
- 54:12Speaker 1: right man, Brian Donald many kids? Okay, that's what I heard, right, Yeah,
- 54:17Speaker 1: something like that. He doesn't even remember something like that, right,
- 54:21Speaker 1: That's that's great. That's a great story. How many kids
- 54:23Speaker 1: you got? Something like nine six that I know about.
- 54:28Speaker 1: So the first year, Brian, there's not much you can do,
- 54:34Speaker 1: that's the honest to goodness truth, except be supportive. Change diapers.
- 54:39Speaker 1: But there's not much you can do because the baby.
- 54:41Speaker 1: You can say, can't you say, honey, can I get
- 54:43Speaker 1: you anything? Absolutely better? Say that you have to say, right, Yeah,
- 54:47Speaker 1: that's being supportive, So there's not much you can do
- 54:50Speaker 1: the first year. It's after that where you are you
- 54:53Speaker 1: are hands on and in it to win it, or
- 54:56Speaker 1: she's going to leave you. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Brian, write
- 55:00Speaker 1: that down. Yes, yes, she is basically keeping us comfortable.
- 55:04Speaker 1: So I'm not gonna play with that at all. Right, well,
- 55:08Speaker 1: I'm so. I'm so happy for you. That's exciting and
- 55:10Speaker 1: thank you. And what do you do? You have any
- 55:12Speaker 1: names in mind, like Zach or Donald? Yeah, I wanted
- 55:17Speaker 1: Jennifer Dylan or something like that. That'll work. It's a boy,
- 55:22Speaker 1: So we went with Ellen. We're gonna even Gabriel and Colin.
- 55:26Speaker 1: Gabe beautiful, I love it, beautiful, beautiful name. Gabe. Finn O'Malley. Oh,
- 55:31Speaker 1: Finn's a good name too, now, Finn from Star Wars
- 55:35Speaker 1: or just Finn because everything is Star Wars. Donald, sometimes
- 55:39Speaker 1: it can be I couldn't huh, Honestly, I would think
- 55:41Speaker 1: it more Huck Finn from Mark Twain to be Okay,
- 55:44Speaker 1: Oh yeah, there's that Fin too, any more literary Donald,
- 55:46Speaker 1: Come on, here's that fin too. Brian, go ahead with
- 55:49Speaker 1: your question for the legendary Donald Fason, and it's for
- 55:53Speaker 1: both of you. Yeah. Answer, it definitely relates to what
- 55:57Speaker 1: we were talking about. But um, I was curious to
- 56:00Speaker 1: uh character between you and Donald and maybe doctor Cox,
- 56:04Speaker 1: do you think it was like the best dad overall?
- 56:07Speaker 1: And then kind of a follow up, but like, what
- 56:09Speaker 1: do you think their kids would be like now like
- 56:11Speaker 1: fifteen twenty years later? Wow? Wow, good question. Well. I
- 56:15Speaker 1: do think both characters were very excited about their children,
- 56:19Speaker 1: and and I think we saw from a flash forward
- 56:23Speaker 1: as I recall that don't they end up getting married?
- 56:25Speaker 1: They do and we and we lose it. That was
- 56:28Speaker 1: like I think the episode, I think I faint. Uh,
- 56:32Speaker 1: as I recall I did this, I wiped my fanned
- 56:36Speaker 1: my eyes and fainted. Yeah, that's a gift I see
- 56:39Speaker 1: all the time. Um, I don't know. I think we'd
- 56:42Speaker 1: be great parents because, um, you know, we're both characters
- 56:45Speaker 1: were again not afraid of showing emotion, not afraid of
- 56:50Speaker 1: being affectionate. Um I my father was very very affectionate
- 56:54Speaker 1: man and gave me hugs and kissed me and and um,
- 56:59Speaker 1: and I thought that that was important and I loved
- 57:03Speaker 1: that he did that. And I think that both Turk
- 57:05Speaker 1: and j D would be very involved. They're the kind
- 57:08Speaker 1: of fathers that would want to be all over not
- 57:11Speaker 1: one of those people's like, all right, you to the woman,
- 57:13Speaker 1: you handle it. I'll I'll coach sports one day. That
- 57:17Speaker 1: was That was not my experience. But I think Turk
- 57:22Speaker 1: and j D co parented too, you know what I mean.
- 57:25Speaker 1: I think they helped each other out as far as
- 57:29Speaker 1: raising their kids went. You know, they say it takes
- 57:32Speaker 1: a village to raise a child, and I think their
- 57:36Speaker 1: little village. I think the hospital or you know, wherever
- 57:39Speaker 1: they wound up when the show ended. I'm I believe
- 57:44Speaker 1: they still lived in the same proximity of each other.
- 57:47Speaker 1: I think there it was a communal raising of the children,
- 57:52Speaker 1: even even uh, I think, yeah, I think j D.
- 57:56Speaker 1: I uh and uh, what was what was Elizabeth Bank's
- 58:00Speaker 1: character's name? Kim? Was it? Kim Yim? You didn't know, Zach,
- 58:06Speaker 1: you didn't know. I was waiting for Brian. I was
- 58:09Speaker 1: waiting for Brian. I was about I was like this,
- 58:12Speaker 1: I was like about to say, I was like pretending
- 58:14Speaker 1: that my mouth was opening, and then Brian said, yeah,
- 58:16Speaker 1: Kim Donald, I was waiting for Zach. Sorry. So my
- 58:19Speaker 1: baby mama, my baby mama. Right, So I think both
- 58:22Speaker 1: kids the one that he that JD had with Kim
- 58:24Speaker 1: and the one that he had with Elliott Uh and
- 58:27Speaker 1: then Turk's kids as well. I think they they were
- 58:31Speaker 1: raised together and they grew up together. I think in
- 58:34Speaker 1: one of the episode you try to like, I think
- 58:35Speaker 1: they got you were trying to set them up, right,
- 58:37Speaker 1: like it was one of the series finales. Maybe that
- 58:40Speaker 1: we were trying to set the kids up. Yeah, weren't
- 58:43Speaker 1: they like they met or something and they remember. I
- 58:47Speaker 1: remember I remember doing an episode in the park where
- 58:49Speaker 1: we're dolls, like dumb. Do you have another question? I
- 58:57Speaker 1: mean one of my other questions was just, you know,
- 58:58Speaker 1: advice for being a dad. But you you kind of
- 59:01Speaker 1: already covered that. You got this, dude, you got Yeah.
- 59:04Speaker 1: I mean it's listen, and I'm gonna be honest with you.
- 59:06Speaker 1: My advice ain't shit. I'm gonna keep it one hundred
- 59:08Speaker 1: with you. You know, it's it's how you two decide
- 59:12Speaker 1: to do the thing, you know what I mean. My
- 59:15Speaker 1: advice I can. All I can say is just just
- 59:17Speaker 1: show as much love as you can to your boy.
- 59:21Speaker 1: That's so important. I like what Zach was saying too.
- 59:23Speaker 1: I mean, me and Allen were joking but I was like,
- 59:25Speaker 1: I think, like the fact that JD was a sensey,
- 59:28Speaker 1: you know, like being sensitive is like an important thing
- 59:31Speaker 1: to impart in kids early, especially boys I think nowadays,
- 59:35Speaker 1: And so I think that's one of our you know,
- 59:37Speaker 1: our big focuses for him and just let them be
- 59:40Speaker 1: whoever they are. You know. A testament to my father
- 59:42Speaker 1: was he wasn't he was so into sports, my dad,
- 59:44Speaker 1: but he wasn't trying to make me a job. He wasn't. Unfortunately,
- 59:48Speaker 1: he was also in the theater, which which was what
- 59:50Speaker 1: I took to But um, but I mean, just like
- 59:52Speaker 1: my advice, and again I have no kids, so don't
- 59:54Speaker 1: listen to me. I have dogs, and I can highly
- 59:56Speaker 1: recommend crate training. Don't try that, but with the kid. Yeah,
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: that's why. That's what I always say to Donald when
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: I when I say to but I'm with Donald and
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: his kids are misbehaving, I'm like, why don't you just
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: put him in the crate? Dude? That works great for
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: my puppy. My daughter looked at me and she was like,
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: you're gonna put me in the crate? Yeah, right now.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: She's like, but I'm not a dog. But I mean,
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: just let them one of the things I one of
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: the things I really cherished about my relationship with my
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: father was that he was so accepting of whoever his
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: kids were. And I, you know, you're obviously it's nature nurture.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: You're going to be shaping a part of who they are,
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: of course too. But but let them show you who
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: they are and then and then and then celebrate that
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: and let that flourish. Again, that's coming from someone with
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: no children, but it is coming from someone who had
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: a great dad and and and and was really appreciative
- 1:00:45Speaker 1: that he was like that. Well, can I ask one
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: more thing sort of related? But did you guys You
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: know I didn't like look up biographies. Did you guys
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: have siblings? Yes? I have several siblings. I have four brothers,
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: two uh, that I grew up with and two that
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: I did not grow up with. But we were a
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: big family. I think that's why I have such a
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: big family. Now I feel like it's the more the marrier. Yeah,
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: I have two. I have three. Sorry, let me start again.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: I had four children total in my family, and I'm sorry,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: I'm struggling with this. Just to be honest, I lost
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: my sister two years ago, so I'm like literally trying
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: to Sorry, it's okay, but I'm trying to answer this
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: question honestly, and it's like I'm having to recount. There
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: were four children in my family, and then my parents
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: got divorced and remarried and I gained three stepsisters, so
- 1:01:34Speaker 1: two stepsisters on one side, one step sister on the
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: other side, so we were we were a huge family.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: And and yeah, so I also think you guys should
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: have more So sorry, sorry guys, but you're gonna have
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: to have more kids so they can. Well that's what
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: I would think, because we only have the one, and
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: that's probably gonna be it. Um, so you know, I'm
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: the whole only child, especially nowadays when I don't even
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: know when he'll be able to hang out with other kids,
- 1:01:57Speaker 1: you know, or if he'll be able to go to
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: preschool or stuff like that. Are right, I think you
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: got it some years before. You be worried about that.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: So you'll play vaccines or will be intended and we
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: can all go back to a new normal, right sometime
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: within a year or two. Yeah, that'd be awesome. Is
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: the keg still open in Evanston? The bar, No, that's
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: where we used to go and try and sneak in
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: with our fake IDs. Yeah, we're We're like, that's probably.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: What's the name of yours? The name of your place?
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: It's called Beer on Central. It's not very inventive because
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: if we're on I want us to do an ad
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: for it. Right now, we're gonna do an ad for it. Donald.
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: But I'm in Evanston, Illinois, and I want a beer.
- 1:02:40Speaker 1: You know where I go? Where do you go, Zach?
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: I go to Beer on Central. Beer on Central is
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Oh it's a place, and it's in Evanston.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: And if you're gonna buy beer, it's the best place
- 1:02:50Speaker 1: to buy beer. It's called Beer on Central. Is it
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: on Central? It's on Central. It's called Beer on Central. Awesome,
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: And you know a lot of Northwestern students are always
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: looking for a place to buy beer. Yeah. Do you
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: sell kegs? Brian? We don't, but I mean after this
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: I can. Yes, Brian is gonna change his whole business
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: model to offer kegs to all you come. Yes, this
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: is worth millions of dollars in free advertising. Yeah. No,
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: this is insane. So Donald's Central Beer on Central. The
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: next time I'm in Evanston, Illinois, I am going to
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: check out Beer on Central. Yeah, and you know what, Donald,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: You know what, Donald, I might even just go to
- 1:03:27Speaker 1: Evanston to buy beer from Beer on Central. Yeah. You
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: know what if you do, just tell him, Brian O'Malley sentia,
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: I will. What's a beer that you Brian's the only
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: one there, so be like Brian everything, Brian. For for
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: those of people who are listening who like who like beer,
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: can you recommend one of your microbrew or fancy beers
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: that people should try that you highly recommend? Um? You
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: know right now? Like what's really popular is like I
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: was drinking earlier, these like hazy I Pas. They're tend
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: to be like kind of stronger, very juicy, not bitter,
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: very popular. This one's from Saint Aaron. They're great, hot butcher.
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: There's a bunch of really cool ones in the city,
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: so so so Saint Aaron is the brand. This one. Yeah,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: that's what I'm having now is a Saint Aaron. Can
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: I get that anywhere? Can I get that in Los Angeles? No?
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: Like right now, we only do local stuff. Stop only
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: doing that's even cool. One of the other things I
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: like about Beer on Central, Donald, what is its small
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: it's all local beer. Oh you're talking about beer on Central. Yeah.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: One of the things, one of my favorite things about
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Beer on Central in Evanston, Illinois, is that it's all
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: all stocked with local breweries. That sounds delicious. I like
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: IPA a lot, by the way, and this is going
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: to sound really lame in Hollywood, but I'm gluten free,
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: and uh, there are some really good gluten free IPA beers. Yeah,
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: we have some too. There's one called Omission. I'll give
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: a shout out too, Osion, and there's one I think
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: called Glutenberg, not Steve Gutenberg, Gluten Glutenberg. Yeah, they'd have
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: gluten in the title. So there you go. I'm giving
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: those beers a shout out, and they should advertise with us,
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: because we're giving such a wonderful advertisement to beer from
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: you guys. Out of box, you know, give me an address. No, no, no,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: I'm not giving you my address. Give me a po box.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: We don't want to take your your wares. We don't
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: want to take your wares. We want you to you
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: need to make that money for this baby. That's right,
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: she's making us right. Really. So that being said, if
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: you're ever in Evanston, Illinois, the place to go for
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: a great local beer. Yeah, beer on Central, Beer on Central,
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: everybody Beer on Central and listen, guys, thanks for coming on,
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: Thanks for the good questions, thanks for telling us about
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: beer on Central, and um, have fun and I'm Illinois.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: I spent I spent four years there and had a
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: great time, although it's too fucking cold for human beings.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, big round of applause for Brian O'Mally
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: and beer on Central. Oh wow, you give you give
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: beer on Central? The oper treatment? Yeah? Why not? What's
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: what's the name of your partner? Again? Ellen and doctor
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: Ellen agreed? Thank you. You're blowing out the mixer here, Donald,
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: I'm not Oprah. Oprah doesn't go that loud. She has
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: them the mixer at the Oprah shows like here she
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: goes and he's readular, she's about to do it and
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: over the button. You can just see the mixer in
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: the back of the Opra show going, oh shit, she's
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: gonna yell, I'm getting this finger over. I hope Dan
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: does that when you're when you're saying a load of guests,
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: all right, bye, guys, thank you so much, Thank you
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: so much. Healthy congratulations you thanks, thank you. Wow? Donald?
- 1:06:47Speaker 1: What what nice folks? Donald? And um and I gotta
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: tell you, Um, I'm gonna, I'm gonna. I'm gonna. I'm
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: gonna frequent beer on Central next time you're in Evanston, Illinois.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: Do you drink beer? You only drink beer anymore, do you.
- 1:07:01Speaker 1: I'm a huge beer drinker. I just you know, it's
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: so fine. I find yeah, I find that. Uh, it's
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: a little heavy for me. That's the only thing. It
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: just feels like shit when you're working out and trying
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: to stay thin and then you have a fucking big
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: as thick beer and you're like, h, I might as
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: well have a milkshake, right, I like hard liquor. Yeah,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: I know, I like, Oh, I know, Oh you're an asshole.
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: You like tequila? Well, no, I I you know. I
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: it was Sinco de mayo yesterday. So and the last
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: time I had to kill it was the last thing
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: that I had in the in the in the cupboard.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: But what I truly like. I like a good bourbon
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: or Scotch. What about Corvassier? No, what is what is corvasia?
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: I don't it's a it's a drink, it's a it's
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: a it's a brown liquor. Um. You know, for a while,
- 1:07:46Speaker 1: I was Corvasia. She's looking. I was a Hennessy drinker
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: for a while, you know, or ian Ja. I liked
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: ian Jay back in the day. I don't know what
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: any of these drinks are. You don't know what Hennessey is.
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: I've heard of Hennessey, but I don't think i've ever try.
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: I don't know what. You've had an Incredible Hulk before?
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: And you don't know what Hennessy. Do you remember the
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: incredible Hulk? Oh? Well, used to play poker and you
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: would make a Oh it's cogniac, she says. We used
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: to play poker and you would make a drink called
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: the Hulks. Was that a real drink or you made
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: it up? I didn't make that up. But when you
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: mixed Tennessee and not Alasa but hypnotic, Hennessey and Hypnotic
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: mixed together, sounds horrible. Oh, but it would turn Hulk
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: green and you would only need one. It was so sweet, right,
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: But you'd only need one to knock you on your ass.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: And we would play poker and the crew would come over,
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: you know, Calvin would come over, Ethan would come over.
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: You would come over and we drink that all night
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: and freaking be hammered until like four o'clock, five o'clock
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: in the morning. Yeah, playing poker. Have you ever had
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: a cement mixer? What the heck is that? It's fucking nasty.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: It's two different things. You guys can google it if
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: you want a puke. I remember doing this on my
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: twenty first birthday and I puked. Um. But it's two
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: different alcohols you put in your mouth and they solidify
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: when they react with each other, and it feels like
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: a cementy oatmeal thing that's disgusted. It's so gross that
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: it's like it's the kind of thing that college kids
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: do shots of, like Yager Moister. You ever do shots
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: a Yeagermeister? Yeah? I'm proud to say that at forty
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: five years old, I can't drink like that anymore, nor
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: do I want to hangover. It's like four days. Yeah,
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: you know, I've learned a little thing. You remember we
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: did that thing in Scrubs. Yeah, play we did that
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: thing in Scrubs that it's become so relevant in my life.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: I don't know what episode it was, but we went
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: around the table of all the different ages of women.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: Who was the was Mandy, it was many more, and
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: then Sarah, and then Judy and then Christa and they
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: were all hungover, and the camera went around and showed
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: all the different levels of how it hangover affects different ages. Yes,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: and then by the time it got to Christa, she
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: had sunglasses, it was asleep and yeah, with a smile
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: on her face. I think of that fantasy over, not fantasy.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: I think of that moment all the time, because, uh, man,
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: a hangover at forty five is not a hangover at
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: twenty five. No, it's not. Listen, I miss you, do you?
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: It's always so nice to touch base with you. Do
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: you really miss me? Man? If if the world were open,
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: I'd have you over. We'd we'd we'd sit by the pool.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: We'd have we'd have a Margarita. I would I bring
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: my picture of Margarita to do you bring your picture over.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: I'm supposed to write today, but I would. I would
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: scrap writing and just join you by the pool for Margarita's.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: That's what would happen today. You're working right now, huh
- 1:10:39Speaker 1: I am, I'm writing. Look do you want to see
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: I'll show you look at this. This is just showing
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: that shit ain't fucking around. This is the first draft. Wow,
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: you're for real about it. He just pulled out a
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: two finger that's about an inch of Yeah, it's way
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: too long right now. A typical screen a typical screenplay
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: for those of you not in the know, it's roughly
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: one hundred and twenty pay just because they say roughly
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: a script works out to a page a minute, and
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: you don't want your movie typically to exceed one hundred
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: and twenty minutes um. And this first draft is one
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: hundred and forty four pages, so there'll be lots of
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: cutting to to occur. But it's happening. Donald, The wheels
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: are turning good for you. Yeah, for you. Aren't you
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: going to ask what you usually ask when I write
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: a screenplay and any black people in it? There are
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: black people in it, and there might even be a
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: part for you, a good part, or you just gonna
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: throw me a little bone. You'll probably have to audition.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: When I gave Donald my first draft of Garden State,
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: he said said to me, I really want you to
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: read my script. It was my first screenplay. He was
- 1:11:40Speaker 1: my new best friend, And I said I'd really like
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: you to read this, And he said, are there any
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: black people in it? And I said, um, there's there's
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: one or two. One you're not right for because he's
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: he's an African man that's been adopted by Natalie Portman's family,
- 1:11:57Speaker 1: and the other is um is being played. At the time,
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: you had given the part to most death. Is what
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: you said to me. No, I didn't. Yeah, you did,
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: really method it was method It was always method man.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: It was okay, so then it was method man at
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: the time you said, you said yeah, And then the
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: other part I gave to method Man. And I knew
- 1:12:16Speaker 1: right then and that that I would never read that script.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: And so Donald Donald in protest because I had given
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: the role to to method man. Um never read the script.
- 1:12:27Speaker 1: It's a great movie, though, thank you, thanks very very
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: very well received. Also, thank you, and and you're in
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: you know, I could thank you. Oh Dan's given thumbs up,
- 1:12:36Speaker 1: and Donald, I mean, I didn't make the same mistake twice.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: And I made sure to put you in wish I
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: was here. Yeah, and I was very happy to be
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: in that movie as well. Great movie, Mandy, but Timken,
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: holy cow. Yeah, and you were very funny in that
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: movie you only had Mandyke. Let's let's get Mandy Buttemken,
- 1:12:52Speaker 1: Josh Gad Holy cow, yeah, Kate Hudson, Holy cow. Yeah.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: There's some great performance and just great performance funny in
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: the movie. Let's give a shout out to the film
- 1:13:01Speaker 1: Wish I Was Here, which you can you can see.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: I think it's on Netflix. You know how I know
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: it's on Netflix, at least in the United States is
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: Joey King, who's plays My Daughter, has become so fair.
- 1:13:12Speaker 1: Joey King steals the movie and has become so famous
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: that Netflix has redone the poster, so it's just Joey
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: King's face. Even if you don't watch the movie, do
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: me a favor and go to your Netflix and look
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: up Wish I Was Here, and you will see it's
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: a picture of Joey King's head because she has become
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: such a big star, and particularly on Netflix with with
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: Kissing Booth, which was like one of their most watch
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: movies ever. And I just thought it was funny that
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: Netflix was like, no, we don't need Kate Hudson, Zach Ralph,
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: Josh Goad and maybe Potanko on the plush. You're just
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: a shot of Joey's head, but much deserved. She's a
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: superstar that she has a superstar. Thank you so much
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: for listening to fake doctor's real friends. I'm your co host,
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: Zach Braff, along with my friend Donald Fayzon. Here to
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: make you laugh, Here to make a smile with a
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: touch of nostalgia are Here's some stories about Shore. We
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: made about a bunch of docs and nurses and a
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: janitor who learned me here I said, he the stories. Nephew,
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: all should go. So gather around you here, ire, gather
- 1:14:17Speaker 1: around you here. I'm scrut free. Watch your winds act
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: mm hmm.
