- 1:06Speaker 1: That should be a lot of fun. All right, Steve,
- 1:08Speaker 1: here we are time for closing remarks. I did want
- 1:12Speaker 1: to ask you this. You know, sometimes you talk to
- 1:14Speaker 1: us about relationships and things like that. I always love
- 1:19Speaker 1: when you talk about the four bank accounts. Four bank accounts,
- 1:23Speaker 1: and people ask me, what did Steve say about the
- 1:25Speaker 1: four bank accounts. Can you explain that please?
- 1:28Speaker 3: Oh you know that's crazy because I just had this
- 1:30Speaker 3: conversation with this couple who were having an argument about money.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Oh why And they said, well, let's ask mister Harvey
- 1:40Speaker 3: and see what you think. And so I just had
- 1:43Speaker 3: this conversation. And it was taught to me actually by
- 1:47Speaker 3: a friend of mine who's deceased now, the great Roger E. Salter,
- 1:53Speaker 3: who owned San mal Financial up in Chicago. That man
- 1:58Speaker 3: right there taught me so much about finances. Roger Salters
- 2:04Speaker 3: man Frat Brother sixty eight. Miss you man. He was
- 2:10Speaker 3: a great, great, great friend. He taught me something. He said, Steve,
- 2:16Speaker 3: every couple should have four bank accounts. He said, you
- 2:21Speaker 3: could save yourself a lot of trouble. Because he was
- 2:23Speaker 3: advising me years ago. This is in the nineteen nineties
- 2:26Speaker 3: and he was giving me some advice. Now I was struggling.
- 2:29Speaker 3: He said, here's why you're struggling, because even though you're married, man,
- 2:33Speaker 3: you need to have individuality. I said no. He said,
- 2:37Speaker 3: nobody wants to ask somebody for something all the time.
- 2:42Speaker 3: Say you got to create freedom within your marriage, he say,
- 2:46Speaker 3: and within your partnership. So every couple should have four
- 2:49Speaker 3: bank accounts. He said, you should have number one. If
- 2:52Speaker 3: both of you are working, you should have a joint
- 2:55Speaker 3: account where you both put your incomes into this account
- 2:59Speaker 3: and you saw go out the bills that have to
- 3:02Speaker 3: be paid. These are the must do things, the rent,
- 3:07Speaker 3: the mortgage, the light, the gas, the groceries, the car notes,
- 3:11Speaker 3: the insurances, education for all of this has to go.
- 3:15Speaker 2: In in it.
- 3:17Speaker 3: And then, no matter who you are, you have to
- 3:21Speaker 3: make a concerted effort, the two of you to save something.
- 3:26Speaker 3: He said, I don't care if it's twenty dollars a week,
- 3:31Speaker 3: two hundred a week, five percent of your money a week,
- 3:35Speaker 3: whatever your two of you decide, you've got to save
- 3:38Speaker 3: something from every check. Don't ever spend the whole check.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Put it in a joint account that requires both of
- 3:46Speaker 3: your signatures to move the money. So now you've taken
- 3:51Speaker 3: care of your household, you've taken care of your necessities,
- 3:55Speaker 3: and now you have a little nest egg that you're building.
- 3:57Speaker 3: But it requires two people to move, so one person
- 4:00Speaker 3: can't go and take the money out without the other
- 4:02Speaker 3: person's knowledge. He said. Now a bank account three and
- 4:06Speaker 3: four that you need is she needs her own personal account,
- 4:12Speaker 3: and you need your own personal account because what that
- 4:16Speaker 3: does is you all decide out of the joint account
- 4:19Speaker 3: where you all put your money. Who gets what as
- 4:23Speaker 3: there monthly or buy monthly. If you get paid once
- 4:26Speaker 3: a month, it goes in once a month. If you
- 4:28Speaker 3: get paid twice a month, it goes in twice a month.
- 4:30Speaker 3: If you get paid weekly, it goes in weekly. However
- 4:33Speaker 3: you want to decide it. But who gets what? He said? Now,
- 4:36Speaker 3: let me give you a piece of advice. Son, He said,
- 4:40Speaker 3: you should always give your wife more than you get.
- 4:46Speaker 3: He said. I'm explaining something to you, he said, because
- 4:49Speaker 3: you're not gonna be able to give this woman, especially
- 4:52Speaker 3: if you have a true partner, because she will take
- 4:55Speaker 3: care of stuff with her money that you don't even
- 4:57Speaker 3: think about. She gonna do stuff for the key, she
- 5:00Speaker 3: gonna do stuff for the grandkids, She gonna do stuff
- 5:03Speaker 3: for the house out of her money. But now she
- 5:07Speaker 3: needs more to maintain herself than you do. You gotta
- 5:11Speaker 3: go get a haircut, she gotta get her hair done.
- 5:13Speaker 3: She gotta buy makeup, she gotta do manicures, pedicures, she
- 5:18Speaker 3: gotta do spa treatments to keep it up. She gotta
- 5:21Speaker 3: buy skincare products. All you got is some lotion at
- 5:24Speaker 3: the house, he says. So give your wife more than
- 5:28Speaker 3: you get now in her account. She does not have
- 5:32Speaker 3: to ask your permission for anything. If she want to
- 5:36Speaker 3: spend it on barettes, she get to buy bags of barettes.
- 5:39Speaker 3: She want to spend it on skin care products, you
- 5:42Speaker 3: can't say nothing. You, on the other hand, sir, you
- 5:45Speaker 3: get your own money. She can't say nothing. If you
- 5:48Speaker 3: buying cigars tequila, if you buying a golf clubs, whatever
- 5:58Speaker 3: you buy, she can't say anything. You want to loan
- 6:02Speaker 3: your partner one hundred dollars, that's on you. She want
- 6:05Speaker 3: to give her family members one hundred dollars, that's on her.
- 6:09Speaker 3: And it keeps a level of independence why you're married
- 6:14Speaker 3: in freedom and allows the one person not to be
- 6:17Speaker 3: beholding to the other person. It'll cut down on a
- 6:20Speaker 3: lot of financial arguments. It'll ensure that you all have
- 6:23Speaker 3: taken care of your basics, and it'll ensure that you
- 6:26Speaker 3: all are building for the future with some type of saving.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Four bank accounts per couple is a must have. Greatest
- 6:32Speaker 3: advice I've ever had. Those are my closing remarks today. Hey, listen, everybody,
- 6:37Speaker 3: please don't forget talk to God today. She would absolutely
- 6:41Speaker 3: love to hear from you.
