- 3:08Well, hello, everyone. This is Erica. And to introduce our show today,
- 3:11I just have one question for you.
- 3:13What would you say if someone asked of you, what if tonight your soul was required of you?
- 3:18Join us today as Kim speaks to this issue coming out of Luke chapter 12.
- 3:23Hello, and welcome to this broadcast of Woman at the Well Ministries.
- 3:26And what a pleasure it is that you have chosen to spend the next few moments with us.
- 3:30And we just ask that you would just open up your eyes and open up your heart
- 3:34and just let the Lord of the universe speak to you. And most of all,
- 3:38it is my prayer that you realize that He is that real and that He has a message
- 3:42for you, and that message is distinctly yours.
- 3:45And it's all about who you are, and it's all about how much He loves you.
- 3:49So if you would, please, I'd like for you to pray with me. Our kind and most
- 3:53gracious, dear Heavenly Father,
- 3:54Lord, we just thank you for this and other opportunity to come before you.
- 3:57We thank you that we know that your presence is real and that you're standing
- 4:00with us this very moment.
- 4:03We're thankful, dear Heavenly Father, that we can feel your hands around us
- 4:06in your arms and that we can crawl up in your lap and that the cares of this
- 4:09world can fall away as we cast them upon you because you care for us.
- 4:14Lord, we're thankful that we can do all things through you which strengtheneth
- 4:17us and that you gave us that promise in your word and that we know that wherever
- 4:20we are, whatever we're doing, whoever we may be, that we are yours if we are
- 4:25a child of yours and we have given our heart and our life to thee.
- 4:29Lord, we pray that you would be with each of those who are listening to this broadcast.
- 4:33We pray that you would help them to look deep within their heart and to come
- 4:37up with the answer of what they're going to do with you, Jesus, our Savior.
- 4:43Lord, we pray that you would help us as we look into your word and that we answer
- 4:47that all-important question of what will we do if our soul was required of us tonight.
- 4:54Lord, it is our prayer that each person who listens to this would absolutely make peace with you,
- 5:00and that if you would call us into eternity this
- 5:04very moment before this lesson is even finished that
- 5:07we would see you face to face and that we would
- 5:10meet with you and that all would be well with our soul lord watch
- 5:13over us and protect us lead god and direct us and all these things we ask in
- 5:16thy most precious and holy name we pray and all of god's people said amen the
- 5:24question for us to look at is found in luke chapter 12 verses 16 through 21.
- 5:33And the question goes like this. What if tonight your soul was required of thee?
- 5:42What if at this moment in time you stepped into eternity?
- 5:48The question is not whether or not you will spend eternity.
- 5:53The question remains on where you would spend eternity.
- 5:58You see, unfortunately for those of you who do not believe there is a God or
- 6:03do not believe there is a heaven to gain and a hell to shun,
- 6:06it does not change the fact that there is a God and that there is a hell to
- 6:11shun and a heaven to gain.
- 6:13You see, it doesn't matter factually what you believe.
- 6:18What matters is what's deep in your heart. And God has said that he is the way,
- 6:25the truth, and the life, and no man cometh unto the Father but by me.
- 6:28And he has explained to us that every one of us is going to give account of ourselves to him.
- 6:33And in the book of Revelations, he says that if your name is not found written
- 6:37in the Lamb's book of life, it shall be cast into hell fire.
- 6:41And the Bible from Genesis to Revelations is filled with his promises and his prophecies,
- 6:47with the fulfillment of him, the
- 6:51sacrificial lamb who paid your penalty for
- 6:55your sins he paid a debt he didn't
- 6:58owe that you could go to a place to be
- 7:01with him because he loved you that much
- 7:05and as we began to look in the new testament
- 7:08we see the fulfillment of the prophecies that
- 7:11the prophets of old in the old testament brought forth the
- 7:14prophet isaiah explained to us that there would be the promised
- 7:18messiah and then in the new testament we
- 7:21see that jesus has come i for one
- 7:24am so absolutely thrilled that i live on this side
- 7:27of the cross i know that jesus paid
- 7:30for my penalty of sins i know that jesus
- 7:33lived and died a sinless life that i might go
- 7:36to heaven the prophets they believed and
- 7:39they believed even without the aid of the holy spirit indwelling in them at
- 7:43all times we are so blessed to live in this day and age we are so blessed that
- 7:49we have the holy word of god from beginning to end to explain to us exactly
- 7:54what it means to walk with jesus christ.
- 7:58And so when we are faced with the question, what would happen if tonight my soul was required of me?
- 8:06I have the answer, my friend. For I made peace with my Savior a long time ago.
- 8:12As a little girl, I realized that I was a sinner in need of a Savior.
- 8:18I realized that because I was born into this world of sinner because of Adam's
- 8:23race and the sin that man transgressed against God in the beginning of time,
- 8:29that I could not make it into a place that was sinless and that I couldn't work
- 8:34hard enough I couldn't be smart enough I couldn't be good enough there was nothing
- 8:38I could do that I could make it into heaven on my own right,
- 8:43but I realized the depravity of my soul and clinged to his saving grace.
- 8:52I wrapped my heart around the promise that he said, that if you believe in me,
- 9:00I have gone to prepare a place for you that where I am, you may be also.
- 9:04And while I'm gone, I will give you the Holy Spirit to dwell inside of you,
- 9:09to teach you and instruct you and to show you all things.
- 9:13Because I created you in my image. and I want you to be with me.
- 9:18But where I am, Kim, there is no sin.
- 9:23Where I am, there is no death and there is no dying.
- 9:27Kim, where I am, there's no sorrow, no sickness, and no pain.
- 9:31And you can't dwell in that place unless you have been cleansed by my blood,
- 9:37by the holy blood of God that washes away all your sins.
- 9:42And I want you to be with me.
- 9:45So, Kim, I've come and prepared a place. And I have left the holy splendor of
- 9:51heaven, where I was king of kings and lord of lords.
- 9:55Beauty beyond compare, where sin doesn't enter.
- 10:00And I took on the form of mortal man, that you might see me as I am,
- 10:06that you might have confidence in me, that you might have faith in me,
- 10:10that you might understand exactly who I was, that you would believe that when
- 10:14you come to me that you could give me your troubles,
- 10:17you could give me your trials, you could give me your problems,
- 10:19and I not only would understand,
- 10:22I would also know exactly how you feel.
- 10:25But more importantly, Kim can take care of you.
- 10:29I can supply your every need, and I can make it so that you have the strength,
- 10:34to do all that I've ever asked you to do.
- 10:37And my riches, Kim, they don't run dry. And I want you to come to this place called heaven.
- 10:44So, Kim, that sin debt, it's bigger than you can pay.
- 10:51You can't get enough money. You can't work hard enough.
- 10:55Because, you see, the only thing that pays a sin debt is sinless,
- 11:01spotless, sacrificial blood.
- 11:03And Kim, I came that you might have life more abundantly.
- 11:09And I took your sins upon me, and I bore them to the old rugged cross.
- 11:16And Kim, if you'll believe in me, if you'll but understand that I loved you
- 11:23so much that I stretched out and I shed my blood some 2,000 years ago on an old rugged cross.
- 11:30And when I was on the cross, Kim, you were on my mind.
- 11:35And I knew that there would come a day when you would come to the realization
- 11:39that you had a sin debt you couldn't pay and that you needed to go to a home
- 11:43not made with hands eternal into the heavens.
- 11:46And I knew that you would need something to pay that sin debt.
- 11:53And I walked the road to Calvary in your stead.
- 12:00And I shed my blood, the only payment of sin that would suffice the debt, for you.
- 12:09And as a little girl, I didn't understand all of that as well as I understand it now.
- 12:15And my mind can't comprehend that love.
- 12:20But my heart knows the peace that passes all understanding.
- 12:24The joy unspeakable and full of glory that comes with a relationship that is
- 12:31personal and unique with the God of the universe and the Savior of the world.
- 12:37I know what it's like to walk hand in hand day by day with the God of the universe.
- 12:45And because he called my name.
- 12:49And if you're listening to this lesson right now and there's something in your
- 12:53heart, that is beginning to wonder, is she saying something that's true?
- 13:00Or, oh, how I'd love to have that kind of peace.
- 13:05That's no accident, my friend.
- 13:08That's the Holy Spirit of God drawing your heart to the simple truth of his
- 13:14perfect plan of salvation.
- 13:17Oh, my friends, if your soul was required of you tonight, where would you spend eternity?
- 13:25In Luke chapter 12, verses 16 through 21, he says, And he spake a parable unto
- 13:29them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully.
- 13:34And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do? Because I have no room
- 13:38where to bestow my fruits.
- 13:40And he said, This will I do. I will pull down my barns and build greater.
- 13:45And there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods.
- 13:49And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years.
- 13:55Take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry.
- 14:00But God, what a phrase.
- 14:03But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be acquired of thee.
- 14:11Then whose shall those
- 14:15things be which thou hast provided so is
- 14:18he that layeth up treasure for himself and is.
- 14:22Not rich toward god this is
- 14:25a very common place that we
- 14:29find ourselves in today this is a
- 14:31man who has spent his entire life nearly
- 14:35probably all of his energy probably all
- 14:39of his focus and all of his talent
- 14:42into amassing earthly things
- 14:45he has placed all of his faith and.
- 14:49All of his trust in the possessions that
- 14:53he owns and he's taken great pride
- 14:56in how he thinks he's provided for himself he's taken
- 15:00great pride in believing he needs nothing
- 15:03or no one within the sound
- 15:06of my voice no doubt there are
- 15:10people who are thinking those thoughts
- 15:13you see that's one of the biggest tricks
- 15:17of the devil that's how he deceives
- 15:20you and the bible says be not deceived god is not mocked for whatsoever man
- 15:23soweth that shall also reap and he also says
- 15:26that the devil walketh about like a roaring lion seeking whom he
- 15:29may devour and that's what he's done to
- 15:31this man and this man thinks i don't
- 15:34need god i don't need anything and he's
- 15:38become so caught up in himself that he even destroys what he has to hold the
- 15:43current amount of goods and he's building even greater and he's attained a massive
- 15:50amount of worldly stuff and then jesus says Thank you.
- 15:56Who's it going to be when you step out? You see, there's nothing wrong with making a good living.
- 16:03There's nothing wrong with being successful.
- 16:07What the problem comes in is when we think that our success makes us something.
- 16:13When we begin to place our trust and our faith in the things of this world and in ourselves.
- 16:21Because the Bible is plain that we are nothing without God.
- 16:24And any of you who've just
- 16:27looked at the news just for a
- 16:31few moments within the last few months will see
- 16:34that you can have lots of stuff today and nothing in just moments natural disasters
- 16:43financial markets going down the things of this world are not anchored in anything
- 16:50that will last But praise be to the God,
- 16:54to the Lord of Lords, to my Savior divine.
- 16:57My anchor holds because it's in the mighty power of Jesus Christ.
- 17:04I am nothing on my own, but in him I can do all things.
- 17:08The things that I own, I have just been lent by Jesus to be used for him in his service.
- 17:16I don't have to worry about it because it's all in his hands.
- 17:21Because he said, I'll never leave you, and I won't forsake you.
- 17:25The God of the universe has said, you've got to place your faith in me.
- 17:30And oh, what a return. You don't have an investment plan that can touch the
- 17:37increase that investing in Jesus with your heart and your soul and your life will bring to you.
- 17:44You can't imagine the rewards of being a faithful servant.
- 17:51But you see, you're deceived.
- 17:55Because you're laying your treasures up on earth. In Matthew 6,
- 17:5919 through 20, he says, lay not up yourselves treasures up on earth where moth
- 18:03and rust doth corrupt and where thieves break through and steal.
- 18:06But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven where neither moth nor rust doth
- 18:10corrupt and where thieves do not break through nor steal.
- 18:15Some of you are counting on your works to get to heaven.
- 18:18And you say, oh, look at all I've done and I've given to the poor and I give
- 18:22to the ministries and I do all these things.
- 18:25And look at me how wonderful i am but yet
- 18:28you haven't humbled yourselves before
- 18:32an almighty god and really realize that all
- 18:35that you are and all that you have and
- 18:39all that you ever will be is because
- 18:42of him who loved you and died
- 18:45for you and you'll spend your whole life working
- 18:48yourself to the bone trying to get
- 18:51yourself cleaned up and good so that
- 18:54you can walk through the pearly gates when in
- 18:57reality he says i am the way and the truth and the life and
- 18:59no man cometh unto the father but by me and he says for by grace are you saved
- 19:04and that not of yourselves it is the gift of god not of works lest any man should
- 19:11boast for by grace are you saved and through faith in Ephesians 2.8.9.
- 19:18And he even says that it's not of yourselves. It's all about him and his finished work on Calvary.
- 19:26Oh, my friends, it's such a shame because it's so simple. It's a free gift.
- 19:32He did all the work. He paid the price.
- 19:36And he wrapped his gift in his abundant love. and he decorated it with his amazing
- 19:45grace and he hands it out with incredible mercy.
- 19:51How can you neglect so great a salvation?
- 19:56My friends, it isn't of works. Don't lay your treasures up here on earth where
- 20:01it's gonna just float away.
- 20:03Don't work yourself to death thinking that you can make yourself good enough.
- 20:09Because no matter how much you clean up the outside of a dirty cup,
- 20:13if there's mold and grime inside of it, you're not going to drink out of it.
- 20:17And so it is with your life.
- 20:19No matter how clean you clean yourself up on the outside,
- 20:25if you've not allowed the precious blood of Jesus to flow over you and through you,
- 20:30and you have not bowed your head in repentance to him,
- 20:35and you've not acknowledged that he is savior and
- 20:38ask him to come and live in your heart and to cleanse you from all
- 20:41unrighteousness you're not going to get into heaven and when your soul is required
- 20:46of you whether it be today tonight tomorrow this afternoon this morning you're
- 20:53going to find yourself in hell a place never intended for human inhabitants
- 20:59but for the devil and his angels.
- 21:02Oh, my friend, there is a day of reckoning.
- 21:05In Romans 14, 12, he says, so then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
- 21:11And there is a place when you're going to walk into the pearly gates,
- 21:14and he's going to say, depart from me.
- 21:16I never knew you, you workers of iniquity.
- 21:20And no matter how good you've been, you can't get in to that sinless,
- 21:25perfect place, bought and paid for by the blood of Jesus.
- 21:30My friends, you don't have to go there.
- 21:34You can give your heart to Jesus Christ this very moment.
- 21:39You can fall out with sin and fall in love with Jesus as you realize that he
- 21:47paid the price, as you realize that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God,
- 21:54as you acknowledge that, but he commended his love toward you,
- 21:57that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for you.
- 22:00As you claim, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son,
- 22:06that whosoever believeth in him should not
- 22:09perish but have everlasting life and
- 22:13as you realize that he says to lay
- 22:16up your treasures in heaven you see
- 22:19even so faith if it hath not works is dead being
- 22:22alone yea a man say thou hast faith
- 22:25and i have works show me thy faith without
- 22:28thy works and i will show thee my faith by my works
- 22:31salvation is free to all and you
- 22:35can't work your way into heaven but the
- 22:39god of the universe will change you completely second corinthians
- 22:425 17 says that behold old things are passed away and
- 22:45all things are become new and you're a new creature
- 22:48in christ jesus and your want tos change he doesn't
- 22:52say that you go out and change your life and then come to
- 22:55him he says i'll come to you exactly where you are and i will reach down and
- 23:00bring you to where i am and by my precious blood i will change you completely
- 23:06and that love that swells up within you and that holy spirit that indwells in
- 23:12you will change you from the inside out.
- 23:16And then you're going to change the things you do and the things you say.
- 23:19Because your works are going to be laying up treasures in heaven where rust
- 23:23and moth did not corrupt.
- 23:25And all he requires is a childlike faith that humbles themselves and says, God, I'm a sinner.
- 23:31And I can't make it to heaven on my own.
- 23:34But I ask you, the holy lamb of God, who sacrificed for me and paid my sin debt
- 23:42to forgive me of all my sins.
- 23:46And to cleanse me from all unrighteousness.
- 23:49And from this moment on, Lord, I want to serve you.
- 23:52I want a personal relationship with you. I want to be with you.
- 23:56And I want the Holy Spirit to dwell in me.
- 23:59And Lord, I want the peace that passes all understanding and joy unspeakable and full of glory.
- 24:05And in this moment on, I want to walk in steps that lead to the abundant life
- 24:11that you have promised for me. Lord, I'm a sinner.
- 24:16And save my soul my friends i
- 24:19know that it seems so simple but he said that he come that all might have life
- 24:26and have it more abundantly and he said that he wishes that none should perish
- 24:30but that all should come to repentance
- 24:32so as you read this passage in luke chapter 12 verses 16 through 21,
- 24:38and he says if your soul would be required of you tonight i pray that you could
- 24:43answer it I would be with you, Jesus, and that you have made that decision to follow him.
