- 0:01Speaker 1: Alright, coming to you live from Altamonte Springs, Florida. This
- 0:04Speaker 1: is the Ember Show. Your host, Ember. First and foremost,
- 0:07Speaker 1: let's get into prayer. Lord, Father, that art's in heaven,
- 0:09Speaker 1: I come to you in prayer. To be able to
- 0:11Speaker 1: have the Holy Spirit be able to speak through this
- 0:14Speaker 1: mic and go through the listeners' ears and be able
- 0:16Speaker 1: to reach their hearts and minds and be able to
- 0:18Speaker 1: apply these verses to their lives.
- 0:20Speaker 2: In the Lord Jesus Christ's name I pray. Amen.
- 0:23Speaker 1: So we're going to be in Mark chapter 6 tonight.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Just the first 15 verses. As this is a 15
- 0:30Speaker 1: minute segment.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Episode.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I normally have had longer ones, but it has worked
- 0:37Speaker 1: beneficially for me the past six months following Christ. And
- 0:42Speaker 1: I want to give you some time to get your
- 0:44Speaker 1: Bibles out or get on your Bible app and read
- 0:46Speaker 1: along as you hear along and just share just a
- 0:50Speaker 1: very brief part of.
- 0:52Speaker 2: My, I would call it a journey. I wouldn't call
- 0:56Speaker 2: it a walk with Christ.
- 0:58Speaker 1: The first 20 years of my belief and Jesus and
- 1:03Speaker 1: accepting Him. I want to give encouragement to anybody that's
- 1:06Speaker 1: fairly new to believing in Jesus Christ and having that
- 1:11Speaker 1: relationship and, you know, scared of the church or scared
- 1:17Speaker 1: of Bible study or anything that consists of the Bible.
- 1:21Speaker 2: And I understand.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I want you to understand this and listen to me
- 1:26Speaker 1: that it's okay to not have it all figured out.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Meaning how to conduct yourself. Being a believer. And a
- 1:36Speaker 1: believer to a follower is a transition. And you have
- 1:40Speaker 1: to be willing. You have to be wanting to choose
- 1:44Speaker 1: the side. Because I really do consist of having experienced
- 1:50Speaker 1: both worlds. As a believer and as a follower. And
- 1:56Speaker 1: I can tell you right now. It is so much
- 1:58Speaker 1: better following than just believing. So let's jump into Mark
- 2:04Speaker 1: chapter 6, and it is titled, People of Natharus Do
- 2:12Speaker 1: Not Respect Jesus. And this is first take, first take
- 2:16Speaker 1: only tonight. So there's no perfection here. There's just profession.
- 2:22Speaker 2: I mean, not profession. Yeah, it can be a profession.
- 2:26Speaker 1: It's progress, not perfection. When it comes to Bible study.
- 2:31Speaker 1: When it comes to praying. When it comes to praising.
- 2:34Speaker 1: And forgive me for the other noises you may hear.
- 2:36Speaker 1: I am outside recording this. But we have to understand
- 2:42Speaker 1: as a believer of Christ and a follower of Christ
- 2:48Speaker 1: what that not only consists of, but what that's going
- 2:53Speaker 1: to bring to your life. Not everybody's going to respect you.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Not everybody's going to love that you're following Jesus or
- 3:01Speaker 1: that you're believing in Jesus. And even the ones that
- 3:04Speaker 1: you love dearly and that love you. It's a different
- 3:08Speaker 1: kind of love, what we throw around, than what God
- 3:12Speaker 1: has to offer. Let me mention that before I get
- 3:15Speaker 1: into this verse, okay? And hear me out and listen.
- 3:20Speaker 1: Mark chapter 6 verse 1 states, Jesus left that place. So,
- 3:25Speaker 1: that's the first sentence. Jesus left that place where he
- 3:28Speaker 1: was not respected. We take that as an example, right?
- 3:33Speaker 1: How many times have we stuck with people, places, or
- 3:36Speaker 1: things that we knew weren't good for us? How many
- 3:41Speaker 1: times have we done that and regretted it? I can
- 3:47Speaker 1: definitely relate to that of being a loyal friend to
- 3:51Speaker 1: certain friends growing up and they did not respect me.
- 3:55Speaker 1: And I did the complete opposite of what Jesus did.
- 3:57Speaker 2: I stayed.
- 3:58Speaker 1: So it goes into saying, he went to his own town.
- 4:03Speaker 1: His disciples went with him. When it was the Jewish
- 4:07Speaker 1: day of rest, Jesus went to their meeting place. He
- 4:13Speaker 1: began to teach the people who were there. Many of
- 4:16Speaker 1: them were surprised about the things that he was saying
- 4:19Speaker 1: to them. They said to each other, how did this
- 4:23Speaker 1: man learn all these things? How did he become so wise?
- 4:27Speaker 1: How does he do all these powerful things? In verse
- 4:31Speaker 1: 3 states, and we'll break it down. We know he
- 4:34Speaker 1: is an ordinary man. He is the carpenter. He is
- 4:39Speaker 1: the son of Mary and the brother of James, Hosea, Simon,
- 4:45Speaker 1: and Judas. His sisters live here in the town among us.
- 4:51Speaker 1: We know that that is true. So the people.
- 4:54Speaker 2: There did not respect Jesus. This is deep.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Because when we're analyzing these verses, and when I mean we,
- 5:06Speaker 1: I mean as me and the Holy Spirit, being where
- 5:11Speaker 1: your upbringing is, not everybody in your immediate family is
- 5:18Speaker 1: going to respect you. I know that you, the listener,
- 5:22Speaker 1: have heard Probably gone through that. Each and every one
- 5:25Speaker 1: of us have. Just because their blood does not mean
- 5:30Speaker 1: that they unconditionally love you. Or they respect you. Sometimes
- 5:36Speaker 1: we get disrespected. Sometimes we get hurt by the ones
- 5:40Speaker 1: that are closest to us. But this is where forgiveness
- 5:43Speaker 1: comes into play. And as well as knowing your place.
- 5:49Speaker 1: Where you are at.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Are you valued? Are you appreciated? If not, get up
- 5:54Speaker 2: and leave.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Get around the people and the places and the things
- 5:58Speaker 1: that really make you feel as if you are loved
- 6:01Speaker 1: and valued.
- 6:03Speaker 2: Two different things. Loved and valued. We can get into
- 6:08Speaker 2: the other. Respected. Having the forgiveness.
- 6:12Speaker 1: Realizing that not everybody is the version you want them
- 6:16Speaker 1: to be. Are you going to fall in love when
- 6:21Speaker 1: it's romantically important? with somebody's different versions of themselves as
- 6:27Speaker 1: they continue to grow or if they continue to stay
- 6:29Speaker 1: stagnant and they stay the same. But the moral of this,
- 6:35Speaker 1: breaking these down, these first three verses, is that it
- 6:38Speaker 1: does not matter what people think of you and your
- 6:44Speaker 1: upbringing and what they say about your upbringing because that's
- 6:50Speaker 1: all they know.
- 6:52Speaker 2: They don't know what you know. They don't know what
- 6:55Speaker 2: you carry.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Until they give you time of the day to really
- 7:01Speaker 1: get to know the real you. How many of us
- 7:04Speaker 1: are letting each other get to know one another and
- 7:08Speaker 1: we are trying to pretend to be something that we're not.
- 7:12Speaker 2: We've all been there. Trying to fit in.
- 7:15Speaker 1: And if you don't fit in, you stand out completely, right?
- 7:19Speaker 2: Jesus knew....
- 7:21Speaker 1: Who respected him and who didn't. And he didn't waste
- 7:25Speaker 1: a whole lot of time on people that didn't.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Respect him.
- 7:33Speaker 1: He spent a lot of time around people that were
- 7:35Speaker 1: sick and suffering. A prime example of how I'm living
- 7:39Speaker 1: my life. I'm not always.
- 7:43Speaker 2: Healed.
- 7:45Speaker 1: But once I am and I can make an impact,
- 7:47Speaker 1: I will.
- 7:48Speaker 2: And I do. And that's the beauty of Being on this. Path.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Of following Christ. It has not always been easy. It
- 7:59Speaker 1: has not always felt right. To do the right thing.
- 8:04Speaker 1: And as I continue.
- 8:06Speaker 2: To grow. Spiritually. Faithfully. Mentally. All components. Will come together.
- 8:16Speaker 2: And work together. Unlike. In my 20 years of drinking. Using.
- 8:22Speaker 2: They were working against me.
- 8:25Speaker 1: And anything that I could feel as if I was
- 8:30Speaker 1: being treasured, I'd stick around until it was done. But
- 8:36Speaker 1: now it's realizing that I don't go anywhere where I
- 8:42Speaker 1: will feel.
- 8:43Speaker 2: Triggered to be disrespected. There's no... purpose in that.
- 8:48Speaker 1: So verse 4 states, Then Jesus said to them, If
- 8:51Speaker 1: a man is a prophet from God, people everywhere will
- 8:55Speaker 1: respect him. But the people in his own town will
- 8:59Speaker 1: not accept him. Even his own people, his own family
- 9:03Speaker 1: will not respect him. Not everybody wants to see you glow.
- 9:08Speaker 1: Not everybody wants to see you blow up and do
- 9:11Speaker 1: big things.
- 9:12Speaker 2: They do not.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Especially the people that are stuck on the version of
- 9:16Speaker 1: you That they were comfortable with. Any time where people
- 9:22Speaker 1: feel intimidated. That you're doing better than them.
- 9:26Speaker 2: And they're not doing nothing with their lives. You'll know.
- 9:32Speaker 1: You'll know by how they conduct themselves around you. And
- 9:37Speaker 1: when we get into verse 5. I want you to
- 9:39Speaker 1: keep an open mind. And please put away all distractions.
- 9:44Speaker 1: And really listen to this. Mark chapter 6 verse 5,
- 9:49Speaker 1: Jesus could not do any powerful miracles in his own town,
- 9:54Speaker 1: but he did put his hands on a few sick
- 9:58Speaker 1: people and made them well.
- 9:50Speaker 2: So leaving where? you were born is a necessity.
- 10:24Speaker 1: So many people are loyal, and I've experienced this, loyal
- 10:30Speaker 1: to their hometown, loyal to their peoples, loyal to the idea.
- 10:40Speaker 2: That where they were established matters more than their purpose.
- 10:48Speaker 2: More than their actual. Joy. Being loyal to. The wrong people.
- 10:58Speaker 1: The wrong places. The wrong things. Is a recipe. For disaster. Spiritually.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Mentally. Even physically. You can get sick. You can get sick.
- 11:15Speaker 2: And then you really gonna need Jesus. Jesus. Let's get
- 11:18Speaker 2: into it.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Jesus sends his 12 apostles to tell God's message. Mark
- 11:25Speaker 1: chapter 6 verse 7 states, Jesus asked his 12 apostles
- 11:30Speaker 1: to come to him. He started to send them out
- 11:33Speaker 1: to tell God's message to people. He sent them out
- 11:36Speaker 1: two by two and he gave them authority over bad spirits.
- 11:43Speaker 1: Jesus told the disciples, only take a stick for the journey,
- 11:47Speaker 1: nothing else.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Do not take any bread or a bag. Do not
- 11:50Speaker 2: take any money in your pockets.
- 11:53Speaker 1: Why was Jesus sending his disciples out on this journey
- 11:59Speaker 1: to spread the message and telling them to bring nothing?
- 12:07Speaker 1: He was showing them that watch how God provides. As
- 12:13Speaker 1: you are connected to the divine. Having that power of authority.
- 12:20Speaker 1: Over bad spirits. Would attract what they needed. The daily
- 12:25Speaker 1: bread right. Going into these villages. Not everybody will accept you.
- 12:30Speaker 1: But there will be people along your journey.
- 12:32Speaker 2: That will help you. And that's what Jesus was explaining.
- 12:37Speaker 1: Wear shoes. Do not take extra clothes. In each town,
- 12:44Speaker 1: stay at the first house that you go into. Continue
- 12:47Speaker 1: to stay there until you leave that town. Perhaps you
- 12:51Speaker 1: might go to a town where the people do not
- 12:53Speaker 1: accept you. They will not listen to you. So you
- 12:57Speaker 1: should leave that town. Clean the town's dirt off your feet.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Then it will be clear that they have done something wrong.
- 13:08Speaker 2: This is deep.
- 13:11Speaker 1: And what stands out to me in the spirit is
- 13:13Speaker 1: leading me.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Where people do not accept you. They will not listen
- 13:19Speaker 2: to you. And that's why respect is a very major
- 13:22Speaker 2: key component. In business. In friendships. In relationships. Because.
- 13:31Speaker 1: If there is no respect. Then there's no intersect. There's no.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Actual.
- 13:42Speaker 1: It's transactional almost in some aspects. And that's the society
- 13:49Speaker 1: that we kind of live in today. And no matter what,
- 13:57Speaker 1: we have to realize that not every place is going
- 14:01Speaker 1: to accept us.
- 14:03Speaker 2: And that's okay. Don't waste your time on the people, places,
- 14:07Speaker 2: and things that don't respect you. And they don't listen.
- 14:12Speaker 1: So as we almost get close to closing out, I
- 14:16Speaker 1: want everybody to know that the best is yet to come.
- 14:22Speaker 1: God is doing some marvelous things with the Ember Show.
- 14:25Speaker 1: And I see it. And I see where I am
- 14:30Speaker 1: being able to reach other countries. And I just want
- 14:34Speaker 1: to thank each and every one of you that is
- 14:35Speaker 1: listening to continue to help support not only The Ember Show,
- 14:42Speaker 1: but God's kingdom.
- 14:46Speaker 2: God gets the glory. Jesus, Holy Spirit. This is The
- 14:50Speaker 2: Ember Show, your host, Ember.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Thank you for pressing play, and I hope that you
- 14:55Speaker 1: have a great day, afternoon, or evening.
- 14:58Speaker 2: God loves you. Remember that.
