- 0:24Speaker 4: Nothing, Living, life, surviving.
- 0:28Speaker 5: I hear you, I hear you.
- 0:29Speaker 2: So we wanted to do something a little bit different
- 0:32Speaker 2: for the holiday season because you know, it's Thanksgiving. This
- 0:36Speaker 2: this is out here just trying to you know, live,
- 0:39Speaker 2: trying to be well, and political climate and everything that's
- 0:44Speaker 2: happened in this currently happening in the world. Just every
- 0:48Speaker 2: day a new headline, you know, and it's very easy
- 0:53Speaker 2: to uh find yourself lost in the sauce, especially if
- 0:56Speaker 2: you aren't a person that has subscribed to politics or
- 1:02Speaker 2: you know, really current events and things, you know, things
- 1:05Speaker 2: that haven't really impacted your life. You don't really know
- 1:07Speaker 2: what's going on, and you haven't really made you know,
- 1:10Speaker 2: those motions to kind of get it.
- 1:13Speaker 5: Well. Now you don't really have that choice anymore.
- 1:16Speaker 2: So Teresa and I were talking on inbox and stuff,
- 1:19Speaker 2: and we decided to, you know, just put together a
- 1:22Speaker 2: black wellness podcast for just this evening on you know, yeah, yes, yeah,
- 1:30Speaker 2: absolutely so for my demographic and everything, tell the listeners
- 1:34Speaker 2: a little bit about yourself, Miss Trees.
- 1:37Speaker 4: All right, y'all, Well I Miss Trees. Okay, I have
- 1:41Speaker 4: a podcast called Talk to Trees. It's Instagram based. Come
- 1:46Speaker 4: and see it at the real Miss Trees. You know,
- 1:49Speaker 4: I'm just a woman from the d m B trying
- 1:55Speaker 4: to live this life. Enjoy life, that's all.
- 1:59Speaker 5: You know.
- 1:59Speaker 4: I'm just a working woman. I'm a mom, and I'm
- 2:03Speaker 4: just here to enjoy while i'm here.
- 2:06Speaker 5: Right.
- 2:06Speaker 2: And she also does, like she said, she does a
- 2:08Speaker 2: weekly podcast. And one of the things that I like
- 2:11Speaker 2: about your podcast is the fact that you take, you know,
- 2:14Speaker 2: you take the opportunity each week to just come out,
- 2:18Speaker 2: sit down and just you know, sort out wellness tips
- 2:22Speaker 2: for people. And I was like, you know what, I
- 2:24Speaker 2: like that, you know what, let me try something new
- 2:25Speaker 2: this week, you know, yes, absolutely.
- 2:30Speaker 4: Everyone, Well not every Wednesday, guys, but every other Wednesday,
- 2:34Speaker 4: okay at eight pm Eastern time, just join in and
- 2:38Speaker 4: we just talk about life and really just unload. Yeah, unload,
- 2:43Speaker 4: be real with one another, no judgment. That's it here.
- 2:51Speaker 5: So maintaining black wellness in this political climate. So yeah, in.
- 2:56Speaker 2: True WRTR fashion, one of the ways that we usually
- 2:59Speaker 2: start to show is we start with our moods and
- 3:02Speaker 2: we start with, you know, well today, We're gonna do
- 3:07Speaker 2: well when I grow up, and I'm gonna.
- 3:08Speaker 5: Talk about, you know, a black therapist. But in the meantime,
- 3:12Speaker 5: what's your mood like this week? My streets, how you feeling.
- 3:15Speaker 4: My mood this week? I am feeling very happy to
- 3:21Speaker 4: eat No, I am, I am. I'm excited. I'm excited.
- 3:28Speaker 4: You know. I love fall and I love this time
- 3:33Speaker 4: of the year because I'm really a person that loves
- 3:36Speaker 4: to get into themes around the house. So it's just
- 3:41Speaker 4: this week is a feel good week. My nine to
- 3:44Speaker 4: five is thriving, and we're making way at our gental.
- 3:49Speaker 3: Office, yep, and I just feel good.
- 3:53Speaker 4: I feel blessed because things could be worse. So that's
- 3:59Speaker 4: why I'm That's why I'm move this week, happy and thankful.
- 4:02Speaker 5: Absolutely love to hear it.
- 4:06Speaker 2: My mood is kind of all over the place, but
- 4:10Speaker 2: I'm feeling like more so I'm trying to get into.
- 4:13Speaker 5: The holiday spirit.
- 4:14Speaker 2: One thing about holidays, it's not necessarily you know, always
- 4:19Speaker 2: reflective of a fun time for me. So I find myself,
- 4:23Speaker 2: you know, these days, just trying to get back to
- 4:26Speaker 2: myself and kind of just into the groove of the holidays,
- 4:31Speaker 2: not necessarily the undertones all the you know.
- 4:34Speaker 5: Everything that goes on with the holidays, but just you know,
- 4:37Speaker 5: just being in.
- 4:37Speaker 2: A mood to receive you know, the warmth and I
- 4:42Speaker 2: guess overall fellowship and everything.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:50Speaker 5: So yeah, I mean it is what it is.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Yeah, So let's kick off this talk and starting when
- 4:59Speaker 2: I grow up. So when I grow up, I want
- 5:02Speaker 2: to be like doctor Nami Phyllis Clark. So doctor Clark
- 5:07Speaker 2: wasn't just a therapist. She was a pioneer who understood
- 5:10Speaker 2: that mental health is crucial for the well being a
- 5:12Speaker 2: black folk. So she was born in nineteen seventeen, so
- 5:19Speaker 2: that should tell you. And the way that I guess,
- 5:22Speaker 2: do you remember back in the day, they had the
- 5:25Speaker 2: doll test where the children would look at different dolls
- 5:30Speaker 2: and like the kids would go and they would go.
- 5:34Speaker 5: It was like a psychology test. Okay, dolls were laid out.
- 5:37Speaker 2: It was a black doll, white doll, you know, just
- 5:40Speaker 2: it was two dollars of white doll. Most of the
- 5:43Speaker 2: children would pick the white doll, thinking that the white
- 5:47Speaker 2: doll was better, and they would ask them probing questions
- 5:49Speaker 2: like which doll is better, which doll is prettier, and
- 5:52Speaker 2: those kinds of things, and it kind of it kicked off,
- 5:55Speaker 2: well not kicked off, but it at least in my opinion,
- 6:00Speaker 2: and started one of the bigger conversations about what it
- 6:03Speaker 2: is that's forced on us as a community and how
- 6:07Speaker 2: that reflects in how we view ourselves. I mean they
- 6:12Speaker 2: were asking, right, you know this doctor. She started those conversations.
- 6:18Speaker 2: So yeah, definitely somebody I want to be like when
- 6:22Speaker 2: I grow up. And as we're talking about mental health
- 6:25Speaker 2: and how to be you know, black today, right, I mean,
- 6:30Speaker 2: it's all the homage to her, because we can't move
- 6:35Speaker 2: forward until we know where we've come from.
- 6:38Speaker 4: Right. Well, I now, as you say that, I do
- 6:43Speaker 4: remember seeing those the doll sessions, and that's interesting to
- 6:49Speaker 4: hear that children would, I guess, migrate towards the white doll. Right,
- 6:56Speaker 4: That's what I mean. Even in the stores, you know,
- 7:00Speaker 4: you have Barbie or you have the Cabbage Patch doll,
- 7:03Speaker 4: you have the brown one or the white one, and
- 7:05Speaker 4: you know justice, even you know black little girls they
- 7:07Speaker 4: go for the white ones all the time. I think
- 7:10Speaker 4: one year, I remember asking my daughter, why don't you
- 7:14Speaker 4: want the brown one? Just to hear what a response
- 7:17Speaker 4: would be. How come you didn't pick that one? Why
- 7:19Speaker 4: this one? You know?
- 7:22Speaker 5: Yeah, it's always mind blowing to me because you know,
- 7:25Speaker 5: I don't have children, So it's it's mind blowing to
- 7:28Speaker 5: me to be able to ask my peers on you know,
- 7:31Speaker 5: how you know they view or how their experiences with
- 7:35Speaker 5: their kids. Yeah, to see that and wow, yeah.
- 7:41Speaker 4: I kind of you know, forced it one time, Like,
- 7:43Speaker 4: of course, my daughter has plenty of dolls that are
- 7:46Speaker 4: tan and that are cream, and there's been times where
- 7:52Speaker 4: I was like, no, we're gonna get the brown one.
- 7:54Speaker 4: Let's get the brown.
- 7:58Speaker 3: That's right.
- 8:00Speaker 4: You need to be connecting wow yourself in every moment,
- 8:06Speaker 4: you know.
- 8:08Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, So let's talk about this political the
- 8:14Speaker 5: impact of the political climate right now. You want to
- 8:17Speaker 5: get into that.
- 8:21Speaker 2: So everybody knows by now Trump one, we are all
- 8:26Speaker 2: sitting here, there's a lot of talk back and forth,
- 8:29Speaker 2: there's a lot of speculation, nobody really knows what to expect.
- 8:35Speaker 2: Also have some myths versus reality that we can get
- 8:39Speaker 2: into a little bit further into the show. But you know,
- 8:43Speaker 2: with everybody feeling a lot of different types of ways,
- 8:47Speaker 2: it's often it's very hard to find your balance, right.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Us as the community, we've always been told to, you know,
- 8:58Speaker 2: just been taught to in the face of adversity, just
- 9:02Speaker 2: put your best.
- 9:03Speaker 5: Foot forward and just pass through and keep going this,
- 9:07Speaker 5: that and the third.
- 9:08Speaker 2: But now we're in a we're in an era to
- 9:12Speaker 2: where it feels like it almost feels like, uh, everything
- 9:18Speaker 2: that we've worked for is being snatched away like one
- 9:21Speaker 2: big move.
- 9:23Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, just like that.
- 9:25Speaker 3: Yeah, all of the steps right, the bricks.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Yeah, and for the majority of the community, I mean
- 9:34Speaker 2: the majority of the community actor right, it was ninety
- 9:36Speaker 2: two percent black women. Shout out to y'all because it
- 9:40Speaker 2: was it was twenty two percent of us that couldn't.
- 9:43Speaker 5: Get it right for me and demographic, but you know,
- 9:50Speaker 5: shout out to y'all. Y'all got it right. But even
- 9:53Speaker 5: that being said, it's you know, it can feel like
- 9:58Speaker 5: a lot of this stuff is and taken away from us.
- 10:02Speaker 2: The games that we've made, a lot of the movements
- 10:07Speaker 2: just bam.
- 10:09Speaker 4: Pulled away just like that.
- 10:11Speaker 2: Unbelievable, and it's very hard to keep your head up
- 10:15Speaker 2: and push forward. When you're feeling that way, you know,
- 10:18Speaker 2: it's unrealistic almost to think that people will just be
- 10:22Speaker 2: able to turn the other cheek and move forward. Yeah,
- 10:27Speaker 2: with you, what have been some of the things that
- 10:30Speaker 2: you've witnessed recently that have kind of made you say hmmm,
- 10:34Speaker 2: kind of made you say what.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Things to make you say hmm?
- 10:40Speaker 5: I honestly, as far as wellness and everything.
- 10:45Speaker 3: Yes, I.
- 10:48Speaker 4: You honestly have to grab yourself and not not go
- 10:54Speaker 4: too far out in the water because you will have
- 10:56Speaker 4: high blood pressure, be upset. You know, you be taking
- 11:01Speaker 4: steps backwards in your mind just thinking about where we've
- 11:04Speaker 4: come from. So for me, the first stage, of course,
- 11:09Speaker 4: it's acceptance, you know, and it's hard to accept such
- 11:14Speaker 4: a horrible decision. So and like you said, I think
- 11:21Speaker 4: we all we just don't even know what's gonna happen.
- 11:25Speaker 4: So I think right now it's a little bit on edge.
- 11:29Speaker 4: You know, we're kind of on edge. I'm kind of
- 11:31Speaker 4: on edge, like what's gonna transpire in so many different areas. Education,
- 11:37Speaker 4: you know, government benefits, older people, our senior citizens, so
- 11:44Speaker 4: many concerns, you know, so getting into wellness, you have
- 11:50Speaker 4: now we are in the times where you need to pray,
- 11:54Speaker 4: you need to meditate, you need to push all the
- 11:58Speaker 4: positivity you can, and right in front of you surround.
- 12:02Speaker 5: Yourself with uh huh, No, I was gonna just on
- 12:07Speaker 5: the praying part. So we're talking about black wellness and everything,
- 12:11Speaker 5: and when it comes to like spiritual emotional community, all
- 12:15Speaker 5: of those wellnesses, like, how is it? You know, I've
- 12:19Speaker 5: heard a lot of talk with people saying, oh, you.
- 12:21Speaker 2: Just gotta pray, set and a third And I mean,
- 12:24Speaker 2: while that's a very novel concept, you.
- 12:28Speaker 5: Know, how is it?
- 12:30Speaker 2: I've seen people they're questioning everything right, Oh yeah, oh yes,
- 12:33Speaker 2: there's a lot that has been taught to us in
- 12:36Speaker 2: our community that just simply isn't you know like you said,
- 12:41Speaker 2: like you said, you know, it's like you want to
- 12:45Speaker 2: you want to keep faith, but it's very hard to do.
- 12:47Speaker 3: So it is.
- 12:50Speaker 5: It is.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Even my oldest daughter, she's about to be sixteen, and
- 12:55Speaker 4: when the election night happened, she asked me. She was like, Mom,
- 13:00Speaker 4: how is it that God has allowed so much stuff?
- 13:04Speaker 4: She was like, you know, even from the very beginning,
- 13:07Speaker 4: haven't we gone through the worst? How could this person
- 13:11Speaker 4: that is so powerful, how could you have allowed so
- 13:15Speaker 4: much pain?
- 13:16Speaker 5: On us.
- 13:16Speaker 4: She asked that straight, straight up fifteen about the sixteen.
- 13:23Speaker 5: Wow, yeah, yeah, that's tough. What did you How did
- 13:30Speaker 5: you respond? I mean, what did you say?
- 13:33Speaker 4: I told her, you know, on a on a spiritual
- 13:36Speaker 4: and biblical side that you know, just like there's a God,
- 13:41Speaker 4: there's also a devil, you know, who has power and
- 13:45Speaker 4: had power and flex their forces, and that's shown up
- 13:52Speaker 4: in the most horrible ways, you know, including slavery and
- 13:56Speaker 4: including what you see right now.
- 13:59Speaker 5: You know, Taylor Swift, I'm kidding. I'm kidding which you say,
- 14:09Speaker 5: I said, Taylor Swift?
- 14:10Speaker 4: Now, it is a lot, but it has really exposed
- 14:22Speaker 4: where people stand, you know, really a lot of them
- 14:27Speaker 4: have always stood.
- 14:29Speaker 5: Yeah, it's true.
- 14:31Speaker 2: And I think that America, I think that as a
- 14:34Speaker 2: country we've just been I.
- 14:37Speaker 5: Think it's become comfortable for white people.
- 14:39Speaker 2: I feel like it's become comfortable for them to just
- 14:42Speaker 2: put it on paper now because it's all of the
- 14:44Speaker 2: things that we've known to be that play out in
- 14:48Speaker 2: our faces all the time that we point that we've
- 14:52Speaker 2: consistently been able to point at and be like, hey,
- 14:56Speaker 2: so just so you know this is going on and
- 14:59Speaker 2: is right here, and here's an example, but see now
- 15:03Speaker 2: with you have like the head bigot run in the country.
- 15:08Speaker 5: Yeah, and everybody.
- 15:09Speaker 2: It emboldens everyone else to do so much more. I mean,
- 15:13Speaker 2: we look at his first term and all of the
- 15:16Speaker 2: things that have come about.
- 15:18Speaker 5: The Karen thing, that that was literally birth. The idea
- 15:24Speaker 5: of a Karen was birth from that first presidency.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Absolutely, I think that the country and I want to
- 15:33Speaker 4: say a good friend of mine, podcast Buddy Kinter, actually
- 15:37Speaker 4: spoke on this. I think that America and a whole
- 15:43Speaker 4: we're under like the most largest narcissistic umbrella.
- 15:49Speaker 3: We have ever seen.
- 15:50Speaker 5: Oh that's perfect, yeah.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Because it's like this, it's this weird illusion of oh no,
- 16:01Speaker 4: I don't feel that way. I don't believe that, right,
- 16:04Speaker 4: but fueling it and helping it at the same time.
- 16:10Speaker 5: Or not my tractions, what are you doing?
- 16:14Speaker 4: Crazy?
- 16:15Speaker 5: Strange?
- 16:15Speaker 2: It is strange, and watch it play out. Everybody wants
- 16:19Speaker 2: to use the spirituality. As you know, y'all did not
- 16:24Speaker 2: vote for that black woman because you said for whatever, Like,
- 16:29Speaker 2: you had so many different forces at play. You had misogyny,
- 16:32Speaker 2: you had misinformation, And it is my personal opinion that
- 16:39Speaker 2: a lot of what people are seeing MH like on
- 16:44Speaker 2: social media and stuff like you look at the fact
- 16:46Speaker 2: that elon X or Twitter or whatever, and then you
- 16:51Speaker 2: see how everything now is algorithm. Everything is run by
- 16:56Speaker 2: an algorithm, and so the same things that I'm gonna
- 17:00Speaker 2: as a black gay man, you're not going to see
- 17:02Speaker 2: as a straight black woman. However, every now and again
- 17:06Speaker 2: you might see something different. And I think that a
- 17:09Speaker 2: lot of that has been used to you know, I
- 17:13Speaker 2: feel like, you know, a lot of that has been
- 17:15Speaker 2: used to, you know, win the election, because you now
- 17:18Speaker 2: have a lot of people coming out and they're like, well,
- 17:21Speaker 2: I didn't know that this was going on, and I
- 17:23Speaker 2: didn't know that that was going to happen.
- 17:24Speaker 3: Yeah, it's like, yeah, so much maulation and control.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Right, because when you would all watch the news and
- 17:34Speaker 2: we'll be like, I know, white people are seeing this,
- 17:37Speaker 2: and they this, that and the third. But who's to
- 17:40Speaker 2: say that they even saw half of the things that we.
- 17:43Speaker 4: Do, right, And that's where you know, research and caring
- 17:50Speaker 4: enough to look further has to happen. But I definitely
- 17:53Speaker 4: feel like the algorithms are highly controlled. Can you imagine
- 17:58Speaker 4: what a Caucasian person's feed really looks like, Oh.
- 18:02Speaker 5: I don't want yeah, yeah, I honestly, I'm gonna be honest.
- 18:10Speaker 4: You know, I have Caucasian friends, and I feel that
- 18:14Speaker 4: one of them. I literally feel like she has come
- 18:17Speaker 4: off of social media because of what her algorithm has
- 18:21Speaker 4: displayed to her.
- 18:23Speaker 3: M wow, yep.
- 18:25Speaker 4: And I feel that it was so it was so
- 18:32Speaker 4: foul and eye opening, she doesn't even want to see it.
- 18:37Speaker 4: And just like that professor said on that interview, I
- 18:40Speaker 4: forget what college that was. Was it Princeton? He told
- 18:44Speaker 4: that woman at the interview, you don't want to believe it.
- 18:48Speaker 4: You don't want to believe that it's exactly what it is.
- 18:52Speaker 5: There's a lot of that. There's a lot of that.
- 18:56Speaker 4: Yes, a lot. So that's why it's this narcissist, delusional,
- 19:02Speaker 4: unaccountable one thing.
- 19:07Speaker 5: It is weird. Yeah, there are ways to even maintain
- 19:11Speaker 5: your mental health as you go through this. First thing
- 19:13Speaker 5: listeners that I.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Would recommend is a black If you are black and
- 19:18Speaker 2: listening to the sound off my voice right now, get
- 19:20Speaker 2: you're black ass a black therapist, amen, you hear me?
- 19:25Speaker 2: Because there is nothing like now therapy. If you can't
- 19:29Speaker 2: afford a black therapist, one is not available to you.
- 19:31Speaker 5: YadA YadA YadA, Fine, get you a therapist.
- 19:35Speaker 2: But one of the benefits of having a black one
- 19:38Speaker 2: is because a lot of the times you don't have
- 19:41Speaker 2: to then stop and then dissect how you feel as
- 19:45Speaker 2: it relates to being a black Yeah.
- 19:48Speaker 5: Yeah, you don't have to explain the nuances and the
- 19:52Speaker 5: tricks of the trade of being black to somebody that's
- 19:56Speaker 5: not black, that you know, may have a hard harder
- 19:58Speaker 5: time understanding.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Yeah, you don't always have that. I mean, you don't
- 20:04Speaker 2: have to deal with that when you have a black therapist.
- 20:07Speaker 4: Yeah, because he can relate.
- 20:11Speaker 5: They can Definitely.
- 20:13Speaker 2: I can tell you having a black therapist myself, maybe true.
- 20:18Speaker 2: I tell you that I don't have to worry about
- 20:22Speaker 2: the nonsense. It'll be a conversation like, oh, well these
- 20:25Speaker 2: white people did this, that and the third. Yeah, kind
- 20:28Speaker 2: of like it. It catapults over all the bullshit that
- 20:32Speaker 2: you got to go back and explain this, that and
- 20:34Speaker 2: the third and then fight with therapists back and forth
- 20:36Speaker 2: and argue they want to challenge your thoughts.
- 20:38Speaker 5: I've had to deal with all of that with a
- 20:40Speaker 5: black therapist straight.
- 20:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean you have to.
- 20:45Speaker 4: You have to confide in someone that can on this.
- 20:51Speaker 4: When we're talking on this page political that can relate
- 20:54Speaker 4: to you on.
- 20:55Speaker 5: Some level maybe you know.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Mm hmmm, I don't.
- 20:59Speaker 4: I don't know what that looks like with having a
- 21:01Speaker 4: white therapist and expressing these things, right.
- 21:05Speaker 5: Yeah, so.
- 21:09Speaker 4: I'm looking I'm actually looking for a therapist online right now.
- 21:12Speaker 3: What you said, you're looking for it now, it's one
- 21:16Speaker 3: that I know.
- 21:17Speaker 4: I'm looking for his credentials.
- 21:19Speaker 5: Ah, gotcha, relady.
- 21:22Speaker 2: But yeah, so do you know of any organizations or
- 21:26Speaker 2: initiatives right now focused on black mental health or wellness?
- 21:29Speaker 4: Ah?
- 21:31Speaker 2: I mean other than the you know, lines that we
- 21:34Speaker 2: already have with you know, therapists otherwise, because I want
- 21:38Speaker 2: I've heard of different groups organizing, but I haven't heard
- 21:41Speaker 2: anything concrete yet because everything's just still you know, everything's
- 21:45Speaker 2: developed every day.
- 21:46Speaker 5: It's a different headline.
- 21:48Speaker 2: Yeah, Walmart just rolled back their d programs and stuff like.
- 21:53Speaker 5: What y'all rolling back crisis and equality? Go Walmart.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:00Speaker 4: No, I don't know of any groups. Oh here he
- 22:03Speaker 4: is right there. I don't know any groups. But I
- 22:05Speaker 4: do know a black male therapist who is based in Virginia,
- 22:13Speaker 4: a short care therapeutic services. He not only is he
- 22:17Speaker 4: a therapist, he actually so he specializes in family restoration,
- 22:24Speaker 4: marriages and family bringing, you know, blended families, everything that
- 22:28Speaker 4: falls under the family umbrella. But he also does something separate.
- 22:32Speaker 4: He does a male group several times a month and
- 22:38Speaker 4: he travels I have to get the areas. I know
- 22:41Speaker 4: it's Virginia. But he does virtual sessions. He is very
- 22:49Speaker 4: passionate about the black community and the wellness of black males.
- 22:56Speaker 4: When I tell you, when I listen to him, just
- 23:00Speaker 4: express what he's seen for the past few years and
- 23:05Speaker 4: the relationship of women and black men, but also black
- 23:11Speaker 4: men and what they go through. He we need like
- 23:16Speaker 4: ten million of him. You know. He is there for
- 23:20Speaker 4: men that are going through all types of things, right,
- 23:26Speaker 4: all types of things from childhood to relationship to family.
- 23:32Speaker 4: You know. So I highly recommend him to all black
- 23:37Speaker 4: people and especially black men, right.
- 23:40Speaker 2: And I'll tell you what like, as a black man,
- 23:42Speaker 2: there are you know, really the only community outreach that
- 23:46Speaker 2: I know them personally are usually the churches.
- 23:51Speaker 3: The churches.
- 23:52Speaker 5: Yeah, it's usually the churches.
- 23:54Speaker 2: Like when I was growing up, they had so many
- 23:56Speaker 2: different kinds of clubs and maybe they still have.
- 23:58Speaker 5: Them, like mentorship group, maybe retreating, but yeah, we had we.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Had boys and girls club, growing up. That was always
- 24:06Speaker 2: given the negative connotation because you know, you had that,
- 24:09Speaker 2: but they.
- 24:11Speaker 4: Brother, my little brother had the big brother.
- 24:14Speaker 3: That was so good.
- 24:16Speaker 4: Yeah, but those are things where you need. You need healthy,
- 24:24Speaker 4: thriving black men that are willing and able to reach back.
- 24:29Speaker 4: You know, right right now we're in a we're in
- 24:32Speaker 4: a world where men have hurt and have suffered so bad.
- 24:38Speaker 4: I don't even know if big brother how much that's
- 24:40Speaker 4: around right now. That's just sad. But that's a needed
- 24:45Speaker 4: that's a needed entity there.
- 24:48Speaker 5: Yeah, definitely. So I'm gonna pull up some groups and
- 24:54Speaker 5: everything happening right now.
- 24:56Speaker 4: Yeah, different groups.
- 24:59Speaker 5: Absolutely. We'll take a quick break and be right back
- 25:02Speaker 5: with that info.
- 25:03Speaker 6: All right, it's come to my attention that some of
- 25:07Speaker 6: you ladies are out here running on fumes, not getting
- 25:11Speaker 6: proper rest, exhausted and teetering on the edge of burnout.
- 25:16Speaker 6: So let's talk about the seven types of rest that
- 25:19Speaker 6: every Black woman needs. Rest is non negotiable, repeat after me.
- 25:24Speaker 6: Rest is non negotiable. And once you start incorporating these
- 25:28Speaker 6: seven types of rest into your lifestyle, I promise you
- 25:32Speaker 6: you will feel better. Number one is physical rest, most
- 25:36Speaker 6: commonly thought of as sleeping and napping. And while that
- 25:40Speaker 6: is physical rest, that is just one form of physical rest,
- 25:43Speaker 6: known as passive physical rest. There's also active physical rest,
- 25:48Speaker 6: which includes things like yoga, meditation, massages, and things of
- 25:53Speaker 6: that nature. Number two is mental rest. I want you
- 25:56Speaker 6: to think about mental rest as anything that allows you
- 25:59Speaker 6: to under pack the rigors of the day, So things
- 26:02Speaker 6: like meditation, mindfulness activities, deep breathing, and even regular therapy
- 26:09Speaker 6: sessions with your mental health professional. Number three is emotional rest,
- 26:13Speaker 6: and this allows us to rid ourselves of any excess anxiety, worry,
- 26:18Speaker 6: and self doubt. It also allows us to feel our
- 26:21Speaker 6: feelings and then release and move on. Emotional rest also
- 26:27Speaker 6: helps us gain clarity on our environment, when who's in it,
- 26:31Speaker 6: how we need to create boundaries and teach people how
- 26:35Speaker 6: to treat us. Number four is spiritual rest. Now don't
- 26:38Speaker 6: confuse this with religious practices or rituals. Spiritual rest is
- 26:42Speaker 6: really about allowing our selves time and space to connect
- 26:46Speaker 6: with something greater than ourselves and hone in on our
- 26:49Speaker 6: purpose and our destiny. Number five is social rest, and
- 26:53Speaker 6: while it's number five, it's equally as important as all
- 26:57Speaker 6: of the others. Social rest is when we take an
- 26:59Speaker 6: opportunity to detach ourselves from people in real life and
- 27:04Speaker 6: in digital spaces. So that can include something like a
- 27:07Speaker 6: social media detox, or even planning a solo vacation, and
- 27:11Speaker 6: if push comes to shove, sitting in your car for
- 27:14Speaker 6: thirty minutes alone can definitely be a form of social rest.
- 27:18Speaker 6: Number six is sensory rest, because sensory overload is real.
- 27:22Speaker 6: Some ways to get good sensory rest is by dimming
- 27:25Speaker 6: the lights, reading a book, putting on soft music, or
- 27:28Speaker 6: even indulging in listening to white noise. And finally we
- 27:31Speaker 6: come to number seven, which is creative rest, and for
- 27:34Speaker 6: some people this one can be hard to wrap your
- 27:37Speaker 6: mind around. Creative rest is essentially you taking a break
- 27:41Speaker 6: from always being the producer, the one who is manufacturing
- 27:44Speaker 6: or conjuring energy, and stepping into a space that allows
- 27:48Speaker 6: you to indulge in the creative energy of others. So
- 27:52Speaker 6: that could look like going to an art gallery, a museum,
- 27:56Speaker 6: a walking tour of your neighborhood or the neighborhood or
- 27:59Speaker 6: city next door, or even doing the nature walk or hike.
- 28:03Speaker 6: Black women, please start indulging in rest as an act
- 28:06Speaker 6: of self preservation.
- 28:08Speaker 7: So it appears that the ku Klux. Americans have added
- 28:10Speaker 7: a new code word to the dog whistle glossary.
- 28:13Speaker 4: Someone on Twitter made a list.
- 28:14Speaker 7: A few of them are woke, affirmative action, critical race theory, Chicago,
- 28:20Speaker 7: urban thug, you people, and the latest one is DEI.
- 28:24Speaker 7: In twenty twenty three, the Colonize, a collective drafted at
- 28:27Speaker 7: least sixty five laws targeting diversity, equity and inclusion programs,
- 28:31Speaker 7: and the argument is that Americans should get jobs and
- 28:34Speaker 7: education based on merit rather than race or any other
- 28:37Speaker 7: marginalized identity, which is ironic because if not for this
- 28:40Speaker 7: country's long standing reputation of systemic discrimination, there would not
- 28:44Speaker 7: be such an emphasis on diversity, equity or inclusion. And
- 28:48Speaker 7: if there are any doubts that the gripes about DEI
- 28:51Speaker 7: are rooted in racism, that term is now being weaponized
- 28:54Speaker 7: against any black person that the lynching lizards want to invalidate.
- 28:57Speaker 7: Last year, former president of Harvard Claudine resigned from her
- 29:01Speaker 7: position after being attacked by an anti DEI activist who
- 29:05Speaker 7: used exaggerated claims of plagiarism to push her out. Earlier
- 29:09Speaker 7: this year, commentator and racist Charlie Kirk made headlines for
- 29:13Speaker 7: saying that if he saw a black pilot on an airplane,
- 29:16Speaker 7: he would immediately question their qualifications. As you all know, recently,
- 29:20Speaker 7: the Key Bridge in Baltimore collapsed, killing six people.
- 29:24Speaker 4: Which somehow ignited a fury.
- 29:26Speaker 7: Of racist tweets towards the mayor of Baltimore, Brandon Scott.
- 29:30Speaker 7: They labeled him a dei mayor and blamed him for
- 29:34Speaker 7: the bridge collapsing. Y'all, these are the motherfuckers who are
- 29:37Speaker 7: allowed to vote and have driver's licenses. And lastly, I
- 29:42Speaker 7: proposed a new term that is actually very fitting when
- 29:45Speaker 7: you think about it, supremacy.
- 29:47Speaker 5: Higher were back blacks, and I got that in folio.
- 29:53Speaker 2: So there are several impactful programs, all right, uh yeah
- 30:01Speaker 2: through my mind. So uh they focused on the wellness
- 30:05Speaker 2: of black men, focusing on mental health, community support, and
- 30:08Speaker 2: personal development. So here are the more notable ones that
- 30:11Speaker 2: I've been able to pull up.
- 30:12Speaker 5: So there's the Black Men's Health Initiative.
- 30:16Speaker 2: This program aims to improve the health and wellness of
- 30:19Speaker 2: black men through education, outreach, and advocacy. It focuses on
- 30:26Speaker 2: addressing health disparities and encourages black men to.
- 30:29Speaker 5: Engage in primitive health measures. So that's more so healthy,
- 30:33Speaker 5: you know, for the body kind of Okay, you have
- 30:38Speaker 5: the Brotherhood slash Sister Soul.
- 30:40Speaker 2: Now, this organization serves both young men and women, and
- 30:44Speaker 2: it has a strong focus on empowering black and Latino males.
- 30:48Speaker 2: So they provide that kind of holistic support through mentors, mentorship, education,
- 30:54Speaker 2: looks like wellness, and some programs that even address mental
- 30:59Speaker 2: health and you know, mental health and leadership and personal development.
- 31:03Speaker 2: So you know for black for looks like just marginalized
- 31:09Speaker 2: groups moment mainly.
- 31:11Speaker 4: Okay, what was the first one called?
- 31:13Speaker 5: It was called the Black Men's Health Initiative.
- 31:16Speaker 2: Okay, okay, another one that I'm am looking up.
- 31:21Speaker 5: It's a Black Men's Lab.
- 31:22Speaker 2: So this initiative looks like it focuses on pretty much
- 31:27Speaker 2: like creating safe spaces for black men to kind of
- 31:30Speaker 2: discuss their experiences, their challenges, their successes.
- 31:34Speaker 5: Looks like it offers, Oh.
- 31:36Speaker 2: This one offers workshops, supports and events, events and mental
- 31:43Speaker 2: health and community connections.
- 31:45Speaker 4: Should know what There's a page on Instagram. I wish
- 31:49Speaker 4: I should have written that down, guys. That reminds me
- 31:52Speaker 4: of that they it seems like it's a safe space
- 31:55Speaker 4: for men and it's a group of men sit around
- 31:57Speaker 4: and they share so many things. It's been nice to
- 32:01Speaker 4: just sit back and watch it. I gotta get the
- 32:03Speaker 4: name of that. Get the name of that.
- 32:06Speaker 5: Yep, there's one the one hundred Black Men of America.
- 32:10Speaker 2: This organization focuses on mentoring younger, young Black males and
- 32:14Speaker 2: providing them with positive role models. Okay, yeah, but I
- 32:18Speaker 2: mean it's not just all about males. I mean, like
- 32:21Speaker 2: I said, there are there are programs about women too,
- 32:26Speaker 2: or for women.
- 32:27Speaker 5: Okay, let's see, I am looking up in its sister circles.
- 32:34Speaker 2: So yeah, it's these are community based support groups created
- 32:40Speaker 2: for black women's safe spaces and everything. It's the Black
- 32:44Speaker 2: Women's Health Imperative, much like the ones.
- 32:48Speaker 5: That I just spoke about with the brothers. It's the
- 32:50Speaker 5: same for the sisters.
- 32:53Speaker 2: But one of the things that pulled up for me
- 32:55Speaker 2: for the women is this initiative called Sisters Taking Action.
- 33:02Speaker 4: Sisters taking Action.
- 33:03Speaker 2: Okay, sisters taking action. Like So, this program focuses on
- 33:11Speaker 2: empowering Black women through health education, advocacy, and community organizing,
- 33:15Speaker 2: and it aims to address health disparities to promote wellness,
- 33:19Speaker 2: particularly an underrepresented community. So if you guys want this
- 33:23Speaker 2: info hit us up at w R t R Real
- 33:26Speaker 2: Talk Radio or at trees at the Real Mistreat.
- 33:31Speaker 3: Yes, I just want to tell everyone that.
- 33:38Speaker 4: I follow someone on Instagram mm hmm that I believe
- 33:44Speaker 4: is great for male leadership and women as well. His
- 33:50Speaker 4: page name is I Am Isaac Carry.
- 33:53Speaker 5: Okay.
- 33:55Speaker 4: I just think he's very insightful and he has a
- 33:59Speaker 4: great skill and breaking down one thought process on many
- 34:07Speaker 4: different things in such a relatable way. And I just
- 34:12Speaker 4: feel like all people, people you listening to us, our
- 34:17Speaker 4: black people, please follow I am Isaac Carry.
- 34:21Speaker 5: Yes, he just speaks and gives.
- 34:24Speaker 4: You answers on things without a debate.
- 34:31Speaker 3: Love that.
- 34:32Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:35Speaker 5: So another thing that I kind of wanted.
- 34:37Speaker 2: To touch on. It's like perception versus reality. I talked
- 34:43Speaker 2: about it a little bit earlier. Given what we actually
- 34:48Speaker 2: know as of today, like our time of recording November
- 34:51Speaker 2: twenty six, it's a lot of questions. It's a lot
- 34:53Speaker 2: of perception versus actual realities. A couple of them that
- 34:59Speaker 2: I wanted to talk about, uh, is like the perception
- 35:02Speaker 2: first economic economic growth for everybody. M some may highlight,
- 35:12Speaker 2: like you know, from Trump's previous terms, low employed rates.
- 35:19Speaker 5: It's important to recogniz yes, they are. They really are.
- 35:26Speaker 5: You're kind of like, you gotta.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Look at what what's actually happening here.
- 35:31Speaker 5: So this person that we you know is now the president.
- 35:34Speaker 2: Elect mm hmm, and he's already cutting out, like he
- 35:40Speaker 2: has not even been given the keys yet, girl, and
- 35:44Speaker 2: he is already cut Like again, I would use walmart
- 35:49Speaker 2: In as an example. They've now cut out their DEI program.
- 35:53Speaker 2: How many jobs off break are like from jump, how
- 35:57Speaker 2: many jobs did that cut? That's before he even gets
- 36:01Speaker 2: or before they even get into the intricacies of everything.
- 36:05Speaker 5: Yeah, law and order policies, like you.
- 36:09Speaker 2: Know, you know, he's going to improve safety, and the
- 36:13Speaker 2: reality is the narrative of law and order is often
- 36:16Speaker 2: a champion during Trump's previous presidency. It's it disproportionately affects
- 36:23Speaker 2: us as black people because.
- 36:25Speaker 5: Now this guy has put into play like.
- 36:28Speaker 2: He does not believe that police officers should be punished
- 36:35Speaker 2: or penalized for like if I if they go out
- 36:39Speaker 2: and you go to raise your hand and you got
- 36:42Speaker 2: your keys in your hand and they think it's a
- 36:43Speaker 2: gun and they then they shoot you. At that point,
- 36:48Speaker 2: he doesn't should be charged, right, not because he was
- 36:53Speaker 2: just doing his job.
- 36:54Speaker 5: Yep.
- 36:55Speaker 2: So the Brionna Taylor's the just the George Lloyd's the
- 37:01Speaker 2: number like the growing and ever, like there's so many
- 37:05Speaker 2: hashtags of people that have been wrongfully unallied by police
- 37:11Speaker 2: and officers that have based convictions. Now there's like, oh, well,
- 37:16Speaker 2: Trump's gonna bring lawn oil and he's just that the
- 37:19Speaker 2: third We're already over police in our community.
- 37:24Speaker 5: But ye are well.
- 37:25Speaker 4: I want to say first, starting with Walmart, honestly, black
- 37:29Speaker 4: people should boycott Walt Walmart.
- 37:33Speaker 5: I've been saying that, but go ahead, black.
- 37:35Speaker 4: People built Walmart. I noticed that maybe if started off suburbs,
- 37:40Speaker 4: and but that's so disrespectful.
- 37:44Speaker 5: It is all the money that.
- 37:46Speaker 4: Has been spent from the black dollar in Walmart. And
- 37:51Speaker 4: we we have seen where Walmart stands.
- 37:55Speaker 5: Before. Again before Trump even gets the keys, Walmart was like.
- 37:58Speaker 4: Oh okay, yeah, that is wild. Yeah. And with the police,
- 38:14Speaker 4: what do you call it? What is it called the police?
- 38:17Speaker 5: Uh?
- 38:20Speaker 4: Yeah, the same thing that they're doing for him and
- 38:24Speaker 4: his charges immune immunity. Yeah. I mean we saw back
- 38:29Speaker 4: when he was president before how empowered they felt and
- 38:33Speaker 4: how and what they were doing. It was at an
- 38:35Speaker 4: all time high. I was saying it honestly kind of
- 38:38Speaker 4: went down. I think maybe if we need to pull
- 38:41Speaker 4: up the statistics and see did it kind of decrease
- 38:44Speaker 4: under Biden. I believe it did because when he was
- 38:49Speaker 4: in it was at an all time high police brutality.
- 38:55Speaker 4: And now it's going to.
- 38:56Speaker 3: Go right back that way.
- 38:59Speaker 5: It really is.
- 39:00Speaker 3: And I do not I can't.
- 39:01Speaker 4: Even say I don't understand how a country can vote
- 39:04Speaker 4: someone in that says something like that, because I do understand.
- 39:07Speaker 4: But not only has he spoken our little crazy universe
- 39:12Speaker 4: in world has spoken that they are okay with police
- 39:17Speaker 4: getting away with killing others. Like like you said, the
- 39:20Speaker 4: KKK has been put in uniforms and empowered all over again.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Right, And to what you said, you said you.
- 39:29Speaker 5: You do understand. I don't now I can. I can
- 39:34Speaker 5: accept the reality.
- 39:35Speaker 2: I mean, it's right here in our faces and it's
- 39:38Speaker 2: and don't like I'm not shocked. Don't like that statement
- 39:43Speaker 2: doesn't mean that I'm shocked. I'm saying I don't understand
- 39:47Speaker 2: the logic behind it, because you're talking about, oh, well,
- 39:53Speaker 2: we're going to just make this whole country better. You know,
- 39:57Speaker 2: first it was the terror. It's like people want.
- 40:00Speaker 5: To dance around the truth. Instead of actually tackling what
- 40:05Speaker 5: the issue is.
- 40:07Speaker 8: Potentially a real big problem with racism. We've got a
- 40:12Speaker 8: real big problem with drugs. We've got a real big
- 40:16Speaker 8: problem with alcohol.
- 40:18Speaker 2: We have a really big problem with under educated people
- 40:22Speaker 2: in high places. We have let under educated people literally
- 40:28Speaker 2: run this country. Leon Leon Elon can't run a goddamn
- 40:34Speaker 2: he can't run a hot dog stand.
- 40:39Speaker 4: And a reality TV entertainer is what Donald Trump what is?
- 40:47Speaker 5: And now we're all want survivor like exactly, it's like, you.
- 40:55Speaker 4: Know what, it's so crazy when he first was elected
- 40:58Speaker 4: in just that alone showed you where we were in
- 41:03Speaker 4: a hole, not us them that You people come off like.
- 41:10Speaker 3: You are so educated and you're so bougie and.
- 41:13Speaker 4: You require so much when really you don't require anything.
- 41:16Speaker 4: You require some really, and you guys are the thugs
- 41:21Speaker 4: you always have been and started with slavery. You all
- 41:24Speaker 4: are the bad ones up the street because where you
- 41:27Speaker 4: are willing to let a clown and a destructive person
- 41:33Speaker 4: lead you because you don't require better.
- 41:38Speaker 2: The rhetoric like the nationalism, come on, now, y'all nationalism.
- 41:44Speaker 4: This is a man that had a show called The Apprentice.
- 41:47Speaker 4: You know he's made some hotel decisions, with dad helping
- 41:52Speaker 4: him from the very beginning, allowed to run a country
- 41:56Speaker 4: without a degree in any law, any anything.
- 42:06Speaker 2: I just it's so funny watching this clown show and
- 42:11Speaker 2: everything that plays out. But it's disheartening because like earlier
- 42:16Speaker 2: in the show, you don't know where you stand with
- 42:20Speaker 2: you know, you mean, while them that get assistance or
- 42:24Speaker 2: some of those programs, you don't know where you stand
- 42:27Speaker 2: with your disabled cousin that maybe gets food stamps, like
- 42:31Speaker 2: you don't know, Like there's a lot at stake, and that's.
- 42:37Speaker 4: A black person, don't you Just Sometimes I am just
- 42:41Speaker 4: in awe at what life really has been and what
- 42:47Speaker 4: it has become. Okay, how does how do things get
- 42:52Speaker 4: this much out of control? And I have to keep
- 42:54Speaker 4: going back to the beginning. Clearly the foundation was out
- 42:58Speaker 4: of control from the very beginning, But how does one millions,
- 43:04Speaker 4: one millions let something just happen like this? To me,
- 43:12Speaker 4: it speaks to who everyone is, it really is, and
- 43:21Speaker 4: they are willing to lie about their own selves. Oh
- 43:24Speaker 4: I don't. I don't stand for the bad stuff. I
- 43:26Speaker 4: don't stand for the bad stuff. I just want to
- 43:29Speaker 4: be able to purchase my home and get tax cuts.
- 43:33Speaker 4: And have eggs cheap. That's really.
- 43:40Speaker 2: You sold out your neighbor for some cheap eggs, like
- 43:44Speaker 2: and you want the rest of us to believe that.
- 43:46Speaker 3: It's like they are what he is.
- 43:48Speaker 4: You know, we watched Trump kind of just lie and
- 43:52Speaker 4: then he will say, oh, I didn't say that, I
- 43:54Speaker 4: didn't do that. His followers are the same, they voted
- 43:57Speaker 4: for him. Oh, but we don't stand for bad. We
- 43:59Speaker 4: don't stand for what he's doing.
- 44:01Speaker 5: Oh we don't know what that is. Right. Let me
- 44:07Speaker 5: ask you this. Have you know when it comes to
- 44:10Speaker 5: the black community.
- 44:11Speaker 2: I know that around that time that Kamala first said
- 44:16Speaker 2: that he was running.
- 44:18Speaker 4: Yeah, a lot of our.
- 44:20Speaker 5: Community kind of disappointed me a little angry on I
- 44:25Speaker 5: came off with a little angry on quite a few
- 44:27Speaker 5: podcast episodes of this show. So we came hate us list. Thanks,
- 44:37Speaker 5: But I want to know, have you personally.
- 44:41Speaker 2: Had to roll back some friendships or maybe some relationships
- 44:47Speaker 2: or you know, even with family ties, have you had
- 44:52Speaker 2: like people that were around you, because I mean, I
- 44:54Speaker 2: know that as we enter this Thanksgiving week, it's a
- 44:57Speaker 2: couple of days away, so a lot of us will
- 45:02Speaker 2: that we're being thrown into that time where we gonna
- 45:05Speaker 2: see them aunties and uncles.
- 45:10Speaker 5: You don't like, what do you do with that relative
- 45:12Speaker 5: that voted for Trump?
- 45:14Speaker 4: It's like that, I don't have one that's gonna be
- 45:17Speaker 4: immediately in my home first one. I can't even imagine
- 45:22Speaker 4: what some families are going through right now.
- 45:24Speaker 5: Hold on, it be low key, somebody reaching for a
- 45:27Speaker 5: turkey wing and as they pick up the turkey wing,
- 45:30Speaker 5: they say, well, you know, I go to Trump. I
- 45:33Speaker 5: don't give it.
- 45:34Speaker 2: I wasn't gonna vote no woman as they bit into
- 45:37Speaker 2: their turkey leg and then everybody's just sitting there with
- 45:39Speaker 2: their mouth a gate.
- 45:41Speaker 3: So that's when.
- 45:45Speaker 4: That's when you offer your amazing strawberry dessert with peped
- 45:50Speaker 4: on this moment.
- 45:50Speaker 5: It uh.
- 45:56Speaker 4: Yeah, it's cut off for you know. It's so funny
- 46:01Speaker 4: because when you go on Facebook, you know, Facebook is
- 46:04Speaker 4: kind of like the cookout family reunion where everybody everybody's
- 46:11Speaker 4: there and everyone's whispering in their own little groups at
- 46:14Speaker 4: the cookout. I saw someone's post and say, you know,
- 46:21Speaker 4: I have found myself cutting off people that I've known
- 46:25Speaker 4: for years, and I stand behind that. I have, you know,
- 46:32Speaker 4: unfollowed people there wasn't really friends with. I have unfollowed
- 46:34Speaker 4: some people when I saw where they stamm and those
- 46:39Speaker 4: were just like acquaintances, family members. I don't have any
- 46:44Speaker 4: immediate family. Oh wait a minute, Wait a minute. I
- 46:49Speaker 4: have a close family member that refused to vote either
- 46:53Speaker 4: way because he just couldn't vote for a woman.
- 46:58Speaker 5: Okay, so I haven't.
- 47:00Speaker 4: Cut him off, but we don't talk a lot. But
- 47:04Speaker 4: he knows that I know that, he knows he's a clown.
- 47:09Speaker 4: And I won't speak on what my relation is with him.
- 47:17Speaker 4: I have some friends who have not said who they
- 47:21Speaker 4: voted for. Actually, it's disheartening, and it's it's like when
- 47:32Speaker 4: when Steve Harvey said, back on the back in the
- 47:34Speaker 4: day going, I was at Kings of Comedy, you just
- 47:37Speaker 4: let me further know where you stood, even with your silence.
- 47:42Speaker 4: I have a friend where yeah, it speaks volumes. I
- 47:45Speaker 4: attempted to talk about it with a friend. She told
- 47:48Speaker 4: me I'll be right back. Never came back.
- 47:52Speaker 3: Never came back, and.
- 47:56Speaker 4: Let me say that, let me back that up. Days.
- 47:59Speaker 4: It was days, and when she came back, she did
- 48:01Speaker 4: not pick up the conversation where we left. I asked her,
- 48:05Speaker 4: never answer, never answer, yep. And it's so unfortunate but
- 48:14Speaker 4: the decision has to be made. I do believe that
- 48:17Speaker 4: black people have taken it on a chin enough. I
- 48:21Speaker 4: think that we smile in the face of our enemies
- 48:23Speaker 4: enough that being Hollywood, you know, you see all those
- 48:27Speaker 4: celebrities mixed in, and hey, it's my brother, it's my sister,
- 48:31Speaker 4: and it's mixed. It's white and black. Prove it. You
- 48:34Speaker 4: my brother, you my sister, prove it. So I'm all
- 48:38Speaker 4: for cutting them off. I am. I will cut my
- 48:41Speaker 4: mama off if she vote for Trump. No.
- 48:45Speaker 8: And you know what, it's very, very real because this
- 48:52Speaker 8: election unlike any of the past.
- 48:55Speaker 2: Like I want people to have these real conversations because
- 49:00Speaker 2: a thing, for a very long time, we've you know,
- 49:03Speaker 2: it's always been you know.
- 49:05Speaker 5: It has been the price of eggs or.
- 49:08Speaker 2: You know whatever that has you know, kind of been
- 49:13Speaker 2: I guess the deciding point on people in an election.
- 49:16Speaker 2: But this particular election was simply, in my opinion, about morals.
- 49:22Speaker 4: Morals they sell you on point yep.
- 49:25Speaker 5: You you're voting against who I am. You're voting against
- 49:31Speaker 5: my well being. You're voting for the person that then
- 49:35Speaker 5: believes me to not be equal to you as a person.
- 49:41Speaker 5: You're voting for a person that wants to see my
- 49:44Speaker 5: life be either or very very hard.
- 49:49Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 49:50Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not just one of those things to where
- 49:55Speaker 2: you can I voted for Trump and pass the you know,
- 49:59Speaker 2: past the grapes or the cranberry sauce or whatever like
- 50:04Speaker 2: it's very.
- 50:08Speaker 4: Right.
- 50:09Speaker 5: I want to say, No, it's a deal breaker.
- 50:13Speaker 4: It's a deal.
- 50:13Speaker 5: Breaker for both family friends. Yeah, I don't like. You
- 50:19Speaker 5: are dangerous to me.
- 50:20Speaker 4: Mm hmm, you're dangerous to me. You know. People say
- 50:24Speaker 4: if a person can't take you for their word, they
- 50:26Speaker 4: can't take you for nothing. They can't believe you for nothing.
- 50:29Speaker 4: My dad always says that. But in this, when it
- 50:32Speaker 4: comes to this, if I can't, if I cannot see
- 50:44Speaker 4: the moral compass in you, then I can't see you
- 50:50Speaker 4: in any way. And your lack of moral compass is
- 50:54Speaker 4: a complete uh insult and execution of my moral compass.
- 51:01Speaker 4: And we can't we can no longer be very true,
- 51:07Speaker 4: and we have to stand somewhere. If you don't stand
- 51:10Speaker 4: up somewhere, then you will never stand. And that's what
- 51:15Speaker 4: you know, black people have to learn even until today,
- 51:17Speaker 4: and that's what they had a little bit more back
- 51:19Speaker 4: in the day. That's why a civil rights movement happened.
- 51:22Speaker 4: It has to be a unison solid movement and as
- 51:27Speaker 4: well as white people that know right from wrong got exactly.
- 51:34Speaker 5: But in order to get there, you have to a
- 51:37Speaker 5: lot of us have to heal ourselves.
- 51:39Speaker 2: And as we get back into talking about therapy and everything,
- 51:44Speaker 2: you have to work on you first before you do
- 51:47Speaker 2: anything else. You have to put on your mask before
- 51:51Speaker 2: it's just the other passengers in the cab, right, because
- 51:55Speaker 2: it literally that's how it works. And a lot of us,
- 52:03Speaker 2: a lot of us have been force fed a lot
- 52:06Speaker 2: of our belief systems.
- 52:07Speaker 5: We've been force fed religion.
- 52:09Speaker 2: We've been force fed our education, We've been told what
- 52:12Speaker 2: to like, what's hot, what's not, and nobody like everything
- 52:18Speaker 2: about individuality has kind of been blurred throughout throughout the past, uh, at.
- 52:27Speaker 5: Least I don't want to say ship.
- 52:29Speaker 2: At least my lifetime, it's been increasingly more blurred to
- 52:34Speaker 2: blur out the individual and to kind of force you
- 52:37Speaker 2: into this box.
- 52:39Speaker 4: Mm.
- 52:40Speaker 5: And I think for a lot of people.
- 52:42Speaker 2: Like the purpose of going to therapy is to reconnect
- 52:46Speaker 2: to your sense of self.
- 52:48Speaker 4: Mm hmm.
- 52:50Speaker 5: I think that's missing for a lot of people.
- 52:52Speaker 2: People don't know what they people don't know what they
- 52:55Speaker 2: sand for anymore. Simply now I keep clearing my voice
- 53:00Speaker 2: or clearing my throat because my voice is acting up,
- 53:04Speaker 2: but no worries.
- 53:11Speaker 5: I apologize. But the sense of self is.
- 53:17Speaker 2: It's missing, and it shows you have people out there
- 53:22Speaker 2: that don't know their ass from a hole in the wall, right,
- 53:25Speaker 2: and all down for people trying to find themselves. I'm
- 53:29Speaker 2: all down for people, you know, trying new things and
- 53:33Speaker 2: just trying to develop a better sense of life for themselves,
- 53:39Speaker 2: but not at the expense of someone else's life.
- 53:47Speaker 5: Right, that's right, we are right now.
- 53:50Speaker 2: Yeah, you believe differently from me, so I feel like
- 53:56Speaker 2: you should not be here.
- 53:58Speaker 4: Everything seems like it balled down to morals and then
- 54:03Speaker 4: it showed who was selfish. It just so shows who
- 54:08Speaker 4: is selfish. And so you have some people, many people,
- 54:13Speaker 4: as we're seeing that, their stance is how was this
- 54:18Speaker 4: going to benefit me?
- 54:20Speaker 3: And that was it?
- 54:22Speaker 4: That was their only thought process. They didn't they didn't
- 54:26Speaker 4: consider anyone else in that, And that's just you shouldn't
- 54:33Speaker 4: do that. I can't say that's not how it works,
- 54:35Speaker 4: because clearly that's how it's working.
- 54:38Speaker 5: But you shouldn't do that.
- 54:40Speaker 4: Yeah, the very thing that they are so excited about America,
- 54:47Speaker 4: Oh our America, Oh the great oh the place of
- 54:52Speaker 4: the free, and the place that's so different and eloquently
- 54:57Speaker 4: set apart from other places. Is the exact opposite, really is,
- 55:05Speaker 4: which is why, which is why they don't want to
- 55:07Speaker 4: stand at the football games. Yeah, I said, big, but
- 55:19Speaker 4: big narcissistic coat we're wearing.
- 55:23Speaker 5: It really is so as the draw the show a
- 55:27Speaker 5: little bit too close and towards the end, I know.
- 55:33Speaker 2: But do you have any kind of what advice do
- 55:38Speaker 2: you think that you would give to somebody who was
- 55:40Speaker 2: searching for a therapist that kind of understands you know,
- 55:43Speaker 2: I'm black trying to find somebody that's for me. Like,
- 55:47Speaker 2: what kinds of things can you offer from your personal
- 55:50Speaker 2: experiences that have helped you kick the right therapist?
- 55:56Speaker 4: My advice would be, you know people always say sometimes
- 56:00Speaker 4: you do have to shop around, you know, you have
- 56:01Speaker 4: to try and see who you mess with, of course,
- 56:04Speaker 4: see what feels right.
- 56:06Speaker 2: But in my people, I'm here and if they don't
- 56:13Speaker 2: like them, they just up and stop, They just stop nore.
- 56:17Speaker 4: Yeah, I would say in my experience, and I and
- 56:22Speaker 4: I do think I left up because I think I
- 56:23Speaker 4: have the most best therapist ever.
- 56:27Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 56:28Speaker 4: I don't know how I did life without them before medium,
- 56:32Speaker 4: but he is he does have a spiritual base in him,
- 56:38Speaker 4: and he is not just preaching to me like a
- 56:40Speaker 4: you know, a preacher wood, but it is for me
- 56:44Speaker 4: comforting and knowing there's another foundation there in him and
- 56:49Speaker 4: it just peaks in here and there in our sessions,
- 56:53Speaker 4: not all the time, and that's that's only that works
- 56:56Speaker 4: for me. But for people that are looking keep all
- 56:59Speaker 4: of that in mind. Is that something that you're open to,
- 57:01Speaker 4: Is that something that would help things or give you
- 57:06Speaker 4: more clarity or confirmation. I suggest you find a black therapist.
- 57:14Speaker 4: And there's plenty of amazing female therapists. Shout out to
- 57:19Speaker 4: doctor Brian. I think she's doing a really good job.
- 57:21Speaker 4: She's new, like just a sensation on Instagram and everywhere else.
- 57:26Speaker 4: But I have a male therapist, and I think that
- 57:30Speaker 4: the male leadership is so needed.
- 57:34Speaker 5: Yeah, for me, I used to have a lot. I
- 57:38Speaker 5: used to do black women therapists, only gay and black.
- 57:43Speaker 2: So it's just like I wanted a black female therapist.
- 57:46Speaker 2: But as I'm working through some more of my deeper
- 57:50Speaker 2: family issues, I find that, you know, my current male
- 57:54Speaker 2: therapist is a lot more impactful in where I'm going.
- 57:59Speaker 2: Some of the avenues I would offer you guys are
- 58:02Speaker 2: beetterhelp dot com.
- 58:04Speaker 5: They they have and talk space because then you.
- 58:10Speaker 2: Go on and depending on when you go, you may find,
- 58:14Speaker 2: you know, you'll get a gauge of different therapists, so
- 58:18Speaker 2: you may not have the same one depending on what
- 58:21Speaker 2: issues you're dealing with. So it gives you an opportunity
- 58:23Speaker 2: to kind of shop around and decide what it is
- 58:27Speaker 2: that you like, see what things you like, what things
- 58:30Speaker 2: you don't, and you know what ultimately works for you.
- 58:33Speaker 2: I have a gay by a friend that you know
- 58:36Speaker 2: has a white woman therapist for god knows what, but
- 58:39Speaker 2: it works for him.
- 58:41Speaker 5: Yeah, so you know, it is what it is.
- 58:45Speaker 4: It is what it is. And I just want to
- 58:47Speaker 4: let everyone know if if you're looking for a therapist,
- 58:50Speaker 4: then I can recommend one. You can go to his
- 58:53Speaker 4: website and just check everything out, uh, request a consultation.
- 58:59Speaker 4: The web page is acts to to one that services
- 59:03Speaker 4: and acts as acts and then the number two to
- 59:07Speaker 4: one that services Okay, yes, and that's the acts from
- 59:12Speaker 4: the Bible.
- 59:14Speaker 2: Get it's all right, work, yes, thank you so much
- 59:20Speaker 2: for you know, sitting down and talking with me today.
- 59:24Speaker 5: Thank you making me feel all good and everything.
- 59:27Speaker 2: So yes, once again, I wanted to float your information
- 59:33Speaker 2: to the listeners so they can, you know, definitely look
- 59:35Speaker 2: you up, check you out and maybe get yes.
- 59:38Speaker 4: Yes guys, please follow me on Instagram at the Real

- 1:01:01Speaker 5: I'm telling you, oh man, mystery, thank you so much.

- 1:01:18Speaker 2: on your show.
- 1:01:19Speaker 4: Oh my god, could hear that you say that?
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: Well, you don't cuss to us.
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: I'm trying.
- 1:01:27Speaker 4: I'm trying to stop. I'm trying to stop.
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: And that's a good habit to her, that's a good
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: habit to break. Because yes, I tell you.
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: Thank you Marcus for having me.
- 1:01:42Speaker 4: This was great. I can't I can't wait to come back.
