- 0:00SPEAKER_03: Before you know it, we're gonna be in a Buffalo Bills game.
- 0:04SPEAKER_03: But yesterday these new uniforms got released.
- 0:07SPEAKER_02: Oh, are they hideous?
- 0:09SPEAKER_03: No.
- 0:09SPEAKER_03: You need to listen.
- 0:10SPEAKER_03: You need to no you need to listen to this audio on why this uniform took a turn and why it's so important.
- 0:21SPEAKER_03: Basically, and I'm I mean, yes, I'm gonna have you listen to it, but the gist is there is a blue collar on the uniform, and they are paying homage to Buffalo and what it is, which is blue collar workers, hard workers.
- 0:36SPEAKER_02: They could have done yes, yes, understood that.
- 0:38SPEAKER_02: You have to realize Buffalo many years ago started out as a railroad city, went moved on to a steel city, had to reinvent itself again to do more.
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: But the problem with it is it looks like the Detroit Lions uniforms threw up on the Bills uniforms.
- 0:54SPEAKER_03: Listen to the video that they released yesterday honoring the blue collar legacy.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: I started working when I was 12 years old.
- 1:01SPEAKER_01: I've been a union sheet metal worker for almost 30 years now.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: I've run the gamut of blue collar in Buffalo, and it really is the backbone of this city.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: From your family growing up, it just follows generation after generation.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: We just got up every day and went to work and worked hard and made decisions.
- 1:19SPEAKER_02: That's Tony from the south side of Buffalo, just to let you know.
- 1:22SPEAKER_03: Hold on a second.
- 1:23SPEAKER_03: You gotta hear this guy say Chick tawaga.
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: It's adorable.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: They're willing to do all that hard work.
- 1:28SPEAKER_01: We grew up in Chictawaga.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: Chicktawaga, yeah.
- 1:30SPEAKER_02: Chicktawaga.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: I call it Chick to Vegas because of all the signs, you know.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: Chick tawga, the pew, the pew's another one.
- 1:36SPEAKER_02: I don't know why I sound like I'm from Chicago all of a sudden, but there's a little bit of that.
- 1:40SPEAKER_03: You don't like this?
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: No, here's the thing.
- 1:42SPEAKER_02: I think what they're doing is beautiful.
- 1:45SPEAKER_02: And yes, the the Bills fans are they're the salt of the earth.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: They're the grits.
- 1:50SPEAKER_02: They're the grit.
- 1:51SPEAKER_02: They're the people that do they used to work at the Ford plant before, you know, Ford shuttered that.
- 1:57SPEAKER_03: They've done everything like getting their hands calloused.
- 2:00SPEAKER_02: That Bethlehem Steel when it was there, you know, the all these, yes, Buffalo was a and I mean still has a lot of blue collar, you know, uh, let's say, in its core.
- 2:11SPEAKER_02: And like I said, it's had to evolve it a bit from there.
- 2:14SPEAKER_02: The problem with it is couldn't you put a blue collar on the actual Bills uniform?
- 2:18SPEAKER_02: Look at this uniform.
- 2:20SPEAKER_02: It looks like the Detroit Lions threw up on the Bills.
- 2:23SPEAKER_03: It's a little silver bullet-y.
- 2:26SPEAKER_02: You need to post for anyone that has not seen this, you've got to post this because I'm sorry.
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: I, you know, you know me, a ride or die for the Bills, but man, it is.
- 2:36SPEAKER_03: I'll post it right now.
- 2:38SPEAKER_02: It is just not a great look.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: Give me one second.
- 2:40SPEAKER_02: And I'm not sure what they're thinking with the helmet change either.
- 2:43SPEAKER_03: I it's just Oh, you know what?
- 2:44SPEAKER_03: That's so funny.
- 2:45SPEAKER_03: I didn't even look at it.
- 2:46SPEAKER_03: I was so engrossed in the actual like collar and everything.
- 2:51SPEAKER_02: I love the blue collar angle, but I the but but it's just ugly.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: It's just ugly.
- 2:57SPEAKER_03: It's just ugly.
- 2:58SPEAKER_03: They probably should have consulted you first.
- 2:59SPEAKER_03: Honest to God, the thing's just hideous.
- 3:01SPEAKER_03: August 15th.
- 3:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, I know preseason, yeah.
- 3:04SPEAKER_03: Pre-season, August 15th.
- 3:05SPEAKER_03: Uh, I think we talked about this yesterday.
- 3:07SPEAKER_02: Why wouldn't they have worn the red uniforms more?
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: I love those.
- 3:09SPEAKER_02: Put a little blue collar on that.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: I don't know.
- 3:11SPEAKER_02: Figure something out.
- 3:13SPEAKER_03: So the red uniforms they don't wear that often, right?
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: No, I don't even know what they're gonna.
- 3:17SPEAKER_02: Now, here's my question, too.
- 3:18SPEAKER_02: Are they gonna use any of the white or the blue or the red uniforms?
- 3:21SPEAKER_02: Or have we just shifted 100% to this?
- 3:23SPEAKER_03: Do you think that they don't use the white because it's hard to clean?
- 3:26SPEAKER_03: I'm serious.
- 3:29SPEAKER_03: Have you tried to clean some sweat stains off of a football jersey?
- 3:32SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna bet they got stock and bleach a lot of it.
- 3:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but you can't bleach it.
- 3:37SPEAKER_03: Sure you can.
- 3:37SPEAKER_02: To that sort of material?
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: Of course you can.
- 3:40SPEAKER_02: Um just ask any football mom.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: They'll tell you how they get it out.
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: Uh-uh.
- 3:43SPEAKER_02: Two points.
- 3:44SPEAKER_02: This is where the Bills have missed the mark twice.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 3:47SPEAKER_02: One with the stupid whiteout uniforms, which were hideous.
- 3:52SPEAKER_02: Even the TV announcers are like, this is gonna be a heck of a game to call because we're really having a hard time seeing the the uh players' names and numbers.
- 4:00SPEAKER_02: Those things were hideous.
- 4:01SPEAKER_02: Those white out uniforms, and now this, and it's not like I'm stuck in my ways going, uh, you can't change tradition.
- 4:09SPEAKER_02: I'm saying you can add blue to whatever and make it a tradition, you know, something from blue collar.
- 4:14SPEAKER_02: This uniform is hideous.
- 4:15SPEAKER_03: What's the connection?
- 4:17SPEAKER_03: And you might not know this, and I definitely don't know this because I'm not a I was not raised a Buffalonian.
- 4:22SPEAKER_03: Why do they call it the nickel city?
- 4:24SPEAKER_03: Because that's why they they have that silver sheen.
- 4:27SPEAKER_03: What's the deal with that?
- 4:28SPEAKER_03: Do they used to make nickels there?
- 4:29SPEAKER_03: No my god, it's gotta be something with steel, right?
- 4:31SPEAKER_02: I did know something about why it was the nickel city, because it was also called the Queen City for a long time.
- 4:36SPEAKER_02: Oh, why is that?
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: I don't know, there's a lot of different things.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: Because the back of the old US Indian head nickel, produced from 1913 to 1938, and commonly called the Buffalo Nickel, featured an American bison.
- 4:48SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's interesting, because in this video that you're gonna watch here in a second, as soon as I posted, they have a Native American guy talking in it too.
- 4:54SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:55SPEAKER_02: Oh, forgive me for not remembering the whole nickel thing.
- 4:59SPEAKER_02: It's been a few decades.
- 5:00SPEAKER_03: Nickel for the bass, blue collar for or uh blue collar for the blue collar workers.
- 5:05SPEAKER_03: It all makes sense, really.
- 5:06SPEAKER_02: I I I just want people's opinions.
- 5:08SPEAKER_02: I think this thing's hideous.
- 5:10SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna hit I'm gonna hit post right now.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: Okay.
