- 0:57SPEAKER_03: But Well, she's she's younger enough, so it doesn't take as long.
- 1:00SPEAKER_03: True.
- 1:00SPEAKER_03: So hopefully she has a better immune system.
- 1:02SPEAKER_04: She'll get up in the morning.
- 1:03SPEAKER_03: Hey dad.
- 1:04SPEAKER_03: She'll be like, hey, what's up, everybody?
- 1:05SPEAKER_03: Let's have some pancakes.
- 1:07SPEAKER_03: And I'll be like, what?
- 1:08SPEAKER_03: You were just puking out of both ends of your body last night.
- 1:10SPEAKER_03: What's up?
- 1:11SPEAKER_04: Meanwhile, dad'll be like, I'm dying.
- 1:15SPEAKER_05: Somebody take me out of the yard and bury me.
- 1:18SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:20SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:20SPEAKER_03: Uh so You know what, you know, speaking of dying.
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: Were we?
- 1:25SPEAKER_03: Not really, but I'm gonna bring this up because I just thought of this.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:28SPEAKER_03: You know, how come nobody like does a funeral pyre anymore?
- 1:33SPEAKER_03: Remember they used to like like Vikings would just like burn each other?
- 1:37SPEAKER_03: When they died, they'd like put them on a ship and set the ship on fire.
- 1:40SPEAKER_04: You know?
- 1:40SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:40SPEAKER_03: How come nobody does that anymore?
- 1:42SPEAKER_04: Maybe they do, just not around here.
- 1:43SPEAKER_03: Well, they call it cremation now.
- 1:45SPEAKER_03: They do it in a big furnace.
- 1:46SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 1:46SPEAKER_03: No, they should do it publicly now.
- 1:48SPEAKER_04: Like get some like wood and like would you find say like a like a um fisherman's village in Iceland would do something like that?
- 1:56SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 1:56SPEAKER_04: I don't either.
- 1:57SPEAKER_04: Maybe they do.
- 1:58SPEAKER_04: Maybe it's a common practice.
- 2:00SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 2:00SPEAKER_03: I just I was just curious.
- 2:01SPEAKER_03: Are they still if an anybody still does that?
- 2:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:04SPEAKER_04: I think of uh um uh Beowulf.
- 2:08SPEAKER_04: You know, they did stuff like that during the during that area.
- 2:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was a pretty common practice.
- 2:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 2:12SPEAKER_03: So, you know.
- 2:13SPEAKER_04: I was just curious.
- 2:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I d uh I you know, when you're sick and you don't have a lot to do.
- 2:21SPEAKER_03: You think you know, there's a lot of wet shit.
- 2:25SPEAKER_04: There is a lot of that.
- 2:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 2:27SPEAKER_03: But yeah, I was just like, you know, I was just thinking about that.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 2:30SPEAKER_03: You know, I don't know why.
- 2:31SPEAKER_03: I don't either.
- 2:32SPEAKER_03: I like your shirt though.
- 2:33SPEAKER_03: It's so weird.
- 2:34SPEAKER_03: It's chesty polar.
- 2:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 2:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 2:36SPEAKER_04: Um my spirit animal.
- 2:39SPEAKER_04: So I want to get to a couple of things real quick because we have a lot to talk about today.
- 2:43SPEAKER_04: Um, first of all, um everybody is is mourning John Sykes.
- 2:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was kind of out of the blue.
- 2:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:52SPEAKER_04: Well uh well, I mean, for I guess it wasn't for out of the blue for him.
- 2:55SPEAKER_04: Well, yeah, you know, he was sick.
- 2:58SPEAKER_04: Right, exactly.
- 2:58SPEAKER_04: But nobody else did.
- 2:59SPEAKER_04: Nobody else did.
- 3:00SPEAKER_03: And it was like a Neil Pearrett kind of thing.
- 3:02SPEAKER_03: Hey, Neil Pearr died.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: Everybody's like, what?
- 3:04SPEAKER_04: If you wonder who we're talking about, uh there's a reason for that because John Sykes was um purposely not famous.
- 3:14SPEAKER_04: He was he was uh one of those guitar players that was under the radar, but he was responsible for some mega hits.
- 3:21SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 3:22SPEAKER_04: Um so the story goes, um well, uh he started in he was from he was from England, but he I think he's Tigers of Pantang was his first band?
- 3:36SPEAKER_04: No, I don't think it was his first band.
- 3:37SPEAKER_04: I think it was.
- 3:38SPEAKER_04: Was it?
- 3:38SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 3:39SPEAKER_04: So Tigers of Pantang, which is part of the new wave of British heavy metal.
- 3:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 3:42SPEAKER_04: Um, and then he uh there was an another band that he was in, but then he joined up with Whitesnake, David Coverdale and and Whitesnake, and was on two or three of their albums, was responsible for the songwriting and the guitar playing for two or three other albums, including the 1987 release with Here I Go Again and the Still of the Night.
- 4:03SPEAKER_04: You know, you see the videos for those songs, and that's not the band that played on the album, right?
- 4:10SPEAKER_04: Um the guitar player that played on the album was John Sykes.
- 4:14SPEAKER_04: He wrote most of those songs with David Coverdale.
- 4:16SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 4:17SPEAKER_04: Um, but Coverdale There was a Falling Out, and Coverdale brought in Adrian Vandenberg and Vivian Campbell, who's actually uh dealing with cancer again on his own right now.
- 4:29SPEAKER_04: Um missed the first couple uh Def Leppard uh shows this year because he of treatment.
- 4:34SPEAKER_04: Anyway, so John Sykes, and then John Sykes was in Thin Lizzie for a long time.
- 4:39SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 4:39SPEAKER_04: Um and has a great voice.
- 4:42SPEAKER_04: He was in a band called Blue Murder.
- 4:43SPEAKER_04: Actually, we should probably be playing some.
- 4:45SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, Blue Murder was.
- 4:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I should probably be playing some of that while we're while we're talking about them.
- 4:49SPEAKER_04: Um one of my favorite Blue Murder songs, I think I've played it on the podcast before, um, is Jelly Roll.
- 4:56SPEAKER_04: Do you remember that song?
- 4:57SPEAKER_04: Well, let's actually let's start with some white snake.
- 4:59SPEAKER_04: Let's get some white snake in there because um everybody knows uh those songs.
- 5:05SPEAKER_04: So this is kind of a I don't know, like a sort of a tribute, if you will, to uh to John Sykes.
- 5:13SPEAKER_04: Uh let's play something off uh the eighty-seven album that doesn't get played very much.
- 5:22SPEAKER_04: Bad boys.
- 5:38SPEAKER_04: There is a uh YouTube video somewhere of them working on this album in the studio, like while writing the album.
- 5:47SPEAKER_04: That's asked.
- 6:00SPEAKER_04: Listen to those guitar runs that's all John Site.
- 6:10SPEAKER_04: Um another quick one.
- 6:28SPEAKER_04: Children of the night.
- 6:30SPEAKER_04: Um once again, after he was done with Whitesnake, he went and and toured with Fin Lizzie for a long time.
- 6:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 6:38SPEAKER_04: Now this is of course after the death of Phil Lina, Philina was was long gone by that time, so they needed his thing or two.
- 6:45SPEAKER_04: And so this is John Type right here.
- 7:15SPEAKER_04: So he was a great vocalist, too.
- 7:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, great singer.
- 7:18SPEAKER_03: Uh not to change the subject, but could you turn my headphones up a little bit?
- 7:22SPEAKER_04: Yes, I can.
- 7:23SPEAKER_04: I'll probably turn those down by mistake too.
- 7:24SPEAKER_04: How's that?
- 7:25SPEAKER_04: Oh, I have this turned down.
- 7:27SPEAKER_04: That's about it, sir.
- 7:35SPEAKER_04: So, um, great songwriter, great guitar player, great singer.
- 7:40SPEAKER_04: This is Blue Murder.
- 7:42SPEAKER_04: Valley of the Kings.
- 7:56SPEAKER_04: This is a great album.
- 7:58SPEAKER_03: I believe I had this at one point.
- 8:00SPEAKER_04: Like on cassette or CD.
- 8:02SPEAKER_04: Probably cassette, yeah.
- 8:04SPEAKER_04: I think you did.
- 8:06SPEAKER_04: I think I remember you had it.
- 8:08SPEAKER_03: One of us had it.
- 8:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 8:10SPEAKER_04: For sure.
- 8:11SPEAKER_03: Maybe Bob had it.
- 8:12SPEAKER_03: Did Bob have it?
- 8:13SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 8:14SPEAKER_03: Probably not.
- 8:17SPEAKER_04: No, I think it was you.
- 8:19SPEAKER_04: Was it?
- 8:19SPEAKER_04: I think so.
- 8:23SPEAKER_04: I was gonna warrior.
- 8:37SPEAKER_04: So anyway, so John Sykes um was doing his own thing and and releasing music, but he was very private.
- 8:47SPEAKER_04: And uh Eddie Trunk was talking about it.
- 8:50SPEAKER_04: Eddie Trunk was friends with John Sykes.
- 8:53SPEAKER_04: And uh he had been trying to get him for a few years, and he and all of all of John Sykes' friends said he just kind of disappeared.
- 9:01SPEAKER_04: Um couldn't couldn't text him, wouldn't return texts, wouldn't return calls.
- 9:06SPEAKER_04: Turns out he had cancer.
- 9:08SPEAKER_02: No, I explained.
- 9:09SPEAKER_04: So is he he was dealing with that all on his own, didn't want to bring a lot of attention to himself.
- 9:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:13SPEAKER_04: And he lost his battle uh yesterday, two days ago, something like that.
- 9:17SPEAKER_03: I think it was two days ago, though.
- 9:19SPEAKER_04: Two days ago, yeah.
- 9:20SPEAKER_04: So uh pretty sad.
- 9:22SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's sad when we lose anybody.
- 9:24SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he was fairly young, too.
- 9:26SPEAKER_03: He was only sixty.
- 9:28SPEAKER_04: He was sixty-five years old.
- 9:29SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so that's kind of a bummer.
- 9:31SPEAKER_04: So they just want to kind of um open up the uh podcast and say we missed bum everybody out.
- 9:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah, right.
- 9:37SPEAKER_03: You'd be like, hey, all your heroes are dying.
- 9:40SPEAKER_04: It's yeah, it's pretty enjoy your week.
- 9:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 9:46SPEAKER_04: Um but I mean i th the music will live on, obviously.
- 9:49SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 9:50SPEAKER_04: The music will always be there, so that's cool.
- 9:52SPEAKER_02: Exactly.
- 9:53SPEAKER_04: Um, I have a lot of new music, so I w and we have a couple of lists we want to talk about, at least one list that we want to talk about.
- 9:59SPEAKER_04: Um but before we do that, do we want to talk about because we had a rehearsal last night for the country band.
- 10:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 10:07SPEAKER_04: What are your thoughts?
- 10:08SPEAKER_03: I thought really well.
- 10:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I thought we were talking about it.
- 10:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we've been broadcasting for a couple months.
- 10:12SPEAKER_04: I always am anxious when when we do that.
- 10:16SPEAKER_04: Um and of course we're setting up uh rehearsal time next week for Skinny Elvis too.
- 10:22SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 10:22SPEAKER_04: And we're learning some new songs, and uh you know, we learn them so fast.
- 10:28SPEAKER_04: Like it's it's so funny.
- 10:30SPEAKER_04: Like in last night's rehearsal, last night's rehearsal with was was with Haystack Union, our country band.
- 10:36SPEAKER_04: And it's like what do you wan what do you want to do?
- 10:38SPEAKER_04: So we pick a song and we started acoustic, just acoustic guitar.
- 10:42SPEAKER_04: And I don't remember how this goes.
- 10:46SPEAKER_04: I don't remember the ri the riff, I don't remember this, because it's been so long since we did it.
- 10:52SPEAKER_04: But why didn't we get through it?
- 10:54SPEAKER_04: I mean it was you know, it was like I don't know, it was it was pretty cool.
- 10:58SPEAKER_03: Well, I I I don't mean to uh toot our own horn, but we're in we're in bands with people that are so much better than we are.
- 11:13SPEAKER_03: Yeah, exactly.
- 11:14SPEAKER_04: So much better than we are.
- 11:15SPEAKER_03: And they're always like, I don't know how this goes.
- 11:17SPEAKER_03: I don't like and I'm like you could hear one note and be like, got it.
- 11:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 11:23SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 11:24SPEAKER_03: You know, that's why I don't worry.
- 11:25SPEAKER_03: That's why when they're always like, Oh, I don't know this, oh it's gonna take some work.
- 11:29SPEAKER_03: No, it's not.
- 11:30SPEAKER_03: Well, you're gonna have it like two two tries.
- 11:32SPEAKER_04: So our so i and they say the the the uh test of a great band is the rhythm section.
- 11:39SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 11:40SPEAKER_04: So you know, our drummer, our bass player, and even our keyboard player uh put them all together and I mean that's the band right there.
- 11:49SPEAKER_03: The rest of us are just kind of like along for the ride.
- 11:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we're just there.
- 11:53SPEAKER_03: Like, hey, you guys are great.
- 11:54SPEAKER_03: Yeah, exactly.
- 11:55SPEAKER_04: I don't know how this goes.
- 11:56SPEAKER_04: Well, it's in the K of T flat.
- 11:58SPEAKER_04: So do this.
- 12:00SPEAKER_03: And this is a diminished chord.
- 12:02SPEAKER_03: Doug, you you're gonna sing this.
- 12:04SPEAKER_03: Um I'm I'm still trying to figure out what a diminished chord is.
- 12:07SPEAKER_03: So, you know.
- 12:08SPEAKER_03: But uh How do you spell that?
- 12:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:11SPEAKER_04: But I get the same anxiety, like we're we're working on Skinny Elvis next week, and I know we're gonna be like, oh, what do you want to start with?
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: Let's start with something that we already know.
- 12:19unknown: Okay.
- 12:20SPEAKER_04: Do we know anything?
- 12:21SPEAKER_03: How does that go again?
- 12:22SPEAKER_03: We haven't had a gig since August.
- 12:24SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 12:25SPEAKER_04: So anyway, um Yeah, it'll be fine.
- 12:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it'll be fine, for sure.
- 12:29SPEAKER_04: Um, but I do want to get it to a couple of things.
- 12:32SPEAKER_04: And it um as I'm looking at this, have we already done uh February's uh list of new music?
- 12:39SPEAKER_04: Um because some of it.
- 12:40SPEAKER_03: Well, there's only one that I'm concerned with.
- 12:42SPEAKER_04: Is that Dream Theater?
- 12:43SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 12:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and that comes out the 7th of February.
- 12:45SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 12:46SPEAKER_04: Uh Parasom Parasomnia.
- 12:49SPEAKER_04: Because we talked about Andy Fe Fairweather Low, the Invisible Blues Man.
- 12:53SPEAKER_04: These are these all come out uh uh February 7th.
- 12:55SPEAKER_04: Um and again, I'm not doing reissue Hawkwind.
- 13:02SPEAKER_04: Rick Springfield's big hit.
- 13:07SPEAKER_04: Um I'm gonna keep it going here.
- 13:12SPEAKER_04: Oh, Ian Gill in the future.
- 13:14SPEAKER_04: Oh, that's another re-release, I don't want to do that.
- 13:16SPEAKER_04: Umceanside countryside by Neil Young.
- 13:23SPEAKER_04: That's on Valentine's Day.
- 13:24SPEAKER_04: Some of these we've already heard.
- 13:26SPEAKER_04: Oh, I will say this.
- 13:27SPEAKER_04: David Lee Roth is issuing issuing the Warner recordings, 85 to 94.
- 13:34SPEAKER_03: So after he left anyway.
- 13:36SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 13:36SPEAKER_03: Um it's gonna be just a jiggle.
- 13:40SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 13:40SPEAKER_04: Yankee Rose.
- 13:42SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 13:42SPEAKER_04: Um That's about it.
- 13:44SPEAKER_04: Oh no, no, there was a bunch, California Girls.
- 13:46SPEAKER_02: Oh yeah.
- 13:47SPEAKER_04: Uh but there was also um A Little Late Enough, which I love that song.
- 13:52SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 13:52SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:53SPEAKER_04: Um there were a couple ones.
- 13:54SPEAKER_04: Skyscraper had a bunch of stuff on it.
- 13:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it had a bunch of stuff on it.
- 13:57SPEAKER_04: Uh just like Paradise or something like that.
- 14:00SPEAKER_02: Like Paradise.
- 14:01SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 14:02SPEAKER_04: Uh I'm looking ahead to February 28th.
- 14:06SPEAKER_04: I will I will say this one even though it's a reissue.
- 14:09SPEAKER_04: Bon Jovi's Slippery When Wet.
- 14:10SPEAKER_04: Deluxe Expanded Edition.
- 14:13SPEAKER_04: And vinyl reissue.
- 14:15SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 14:15SPEAKER_04: I'm not sure what that means.
- 14:17SPEAKER_04: Samantha Fox.
- 14:18SPEAKER_04: Touch me.
- 14:19SPEAKER_04: A picture disc.
- 14:21SPEAKER_04: Vinyl reissue.
- 14:24SPEAKER_04: Why are they putting a picture disc out of Samantha Fox?
- 14:26SPEAKER_04: Jeez, I don't know.
- 14:27SPEAKER_03: I wonder why.
- 14:29SPEAKER_04: Uh, we already talked about Adrian Smith and Richie Cotton.
- 14:33SPEAKER_04: That's coming out in March.
- 14:34SPEAKER_04: I think we've already done this list, to be honest with you.
- 14:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, because we've already talked about that.
- 14:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:39SPEAKER_04: Okay, well, here's the reason I wanted to start with this list.
- 14:42SPEAKER_04: Was because we we had mentioned before the um the Doobie Brothers were coming out with a new album featuring uh the man, the myth, the legend, Michael McDonald.
- 14:54SPEAKER_04: Mike.
- 14:55SPEAKER_04: And so that is coming out.
- 14:57SPEAKER_04: The song the album is called Walk This Road.
- 15:00SPEAKER_04: Um and let's see, two songs from the album are now out.
- 15:04SPEAKER_04: Oh wow.
- 15:05SPEAKER_04: Uh Walk This Road and Call Me, both of which can be heard uh here in just a second.
- 15:10SPEAKER_04: Uh I'm trying to see if when the release date is.
- 15:14SPEAKER_04: Uh there's no date given, but it is coming out this year.
- 15:17SPEAKER_04: So I wanted to take a listen to a couple of these, and these feature um, you know, all the members that we love.
- 15:24SPEAKER_04: Mike McDonald, Tom Johnson, Pat Simmons, uh, John McVee.
- 15:29SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 15:29SPEAKER_04: This one's called Walk This Road, and this features Mavis Staples.
- 15:34SPEAKER_03: Oh, she's great.
- 15:34SPEAKER_04: Yeah, she is.
- 15:35SPEAKER_04: So let's see what here.
- 15:47SPEAKER_03: That already sounds like a doobie brother.
- 15:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah, oh yeah.
- 15:49SPEAKER_04: This is the title cut, by the way.
- 15:52SPEAKER_09: Walk this room with me.
- 16:05SPEAKER_09: Oh yeah.
- 16:34SPEAKER_11: Now we are on the same thing.
- 16:36SPEAKER_04: Oh, they're sticking on the same track.
- 16:41SPEAKER_11: Do we come together?
- 16:43SPEAKER_11: We're never gonna stay alive.
- 16:46SPEAKER_04: Very Tooby Brothers.
- 16:47SPEAKER_04: Oh my goodness.
- 16:48SPEAKER_04: Classic doobie.
- 16:50SPEAKER_04: Alright, that's the title cut.
- 16:51SPEAKER_04: So here's another one called Call Me.
- 16:59SPEAKER_04: Considerably more modern.
- 17:02SPEAKER_11: Modern ish, yeah.
- 17:07SPEAKER_11: That's a little bit of having you around.
- 17:11SPEAKER_11: It's bitter with time, and that makes me smile.
- 17:16SPEAKER_11: Come on, baby, sit with me a while.
- 17:20SPEAKER_11: Oh my god.
- 17:23SPEAKER_11: Don't down.
- 17:44SPEAKER_03: I love it.
- 17:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's good.
- 17:56SPEAKER_11: Call me.
- 17:59SPEAKER_04: Yep, I'm picking that one up.
- 18:01SPEAKER_04: Walk This Road is uh the album.
- 18:06SPEAKER_04: And again, it comes out this year, The Doobie Brothers.
- 18:09SPEAKER_04: What a great thing that I mean they're in there in 77.
- 18:16SPEAKER_03: Well, Mike's what, 72?
- 18:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 18:18SPEAKER_04: So and they're still making great music, still writing great songs.
- 18:22SPEAKER_03: Well, that somebody's got them.
- 18:23SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 18:24SPEAKER_03: Because nobody else is.
- 18:27SPEAKER_04: So I'm excited about that one.
- 18:28SPEAKER_04: That one's gonna be cool.
- 18:30SPEAKER_04: Um, I also have some other new music here.
- 18:34SPEAKER_04: Um let's see.
- 18:36SPEAKER_04: I wanna this one you probably have not heard of.
- 18:41SPEAKER_04: But we did mention it um a little bit uh in the last podcast.
- 18:46SPEAKER_04: Tom Hamilton, the bass player for Aerosmith, has a new band.
- 18:50SPEAKER_04: Uh the band is called Close Enemies.
- 18:54SPEAKER_04: And this is their first single, uh, and it's called Sound of a Train.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: Sounds nothing like a train.
- 19:06SPEAKER_07: I feel like it's changed.
- 19:09SPEAKER_03: Who's the singer?
- 19:11SPEAKER_04: Let's see.
- 19:13SPEAKER_04: The singer is Chasen Hampton.
- 19:16SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 19:17SPEAKER_07: Don't know and cry yet.
- 19:20SPEAKER_07: Ain't nobody trying.
- 19:30SPEAKER_07: The end of our days.
- 19:56SPEAKER_04: I dig it.
- 19:57SPEAKER_04: I like it.
- 19:59SPEAKER_04: I'm just happy to hear people making rock music again.
- 20:03SPEAKER_04: I know, right?
- 20:04SPEAKER_04: You know, it's not that they haven't been, but it just seems to be brushed to the side a lot lately.
- 20:11SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 20:12SPEAKER_03: Um just not Well, we have to give Miss Swift her due.
- 20:17SPEAKER_04: Well, that's what I mean.
- 20:18SPEAKER_03: I mean it's like I mean, good lord, if she isn't part of the music scene, everything would implode on itself, and it would be the end of everything as we know it.
- 20:28SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 20:29SPEAKER_04: That's what I'm saying.
- 20:30SPEAKER_03: That's all I'm saying.
- 20:31SPEAKER_03: But I digress.
- 20:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:32SPEAKER_04: Uh so that's Close Enemies, and again, that debut album comes out um this year as well.
- 20:38SPEAKER_04: Uh, see if you can don't look at the screen.
- 20:39SPEAKER_04: See if you can guess who this is.
- 20:41SPEAKER_04: This is uh Incredible Hulk.
- 20:42SPEAKER_04: Uh no, don't look at the screen.
- 20:44SPEAKER_04: You're looking at the screen, don't see if you can guess who this is.
- 20:49SPEAKER_03: It's a guy with a guitar.
- 20:55SPEAKER_03: That's a drummer.
- 20:56SPEAKER_04: Kind of excited about this one too.
- 20:59SPEAKER_05: I can tell the babble from a bottom of the ride.
- 21:02SPEAKER_05: I can tell the moat from the mud in your eyes.
- 21:05SPEAKER_05: They don't sound like you would think.
- 21:25SPEAKER_03: It's uh keyboard going into a mouth of a fish.
- 21:28SPEAKER_03: Oh, it's a black key.
- 21:30SPEAKER_04: Nope, nope.
- 21:32SPEAKER_04: This song is called Still a Gorilla.
- 21:35SPEAKER_04: How to explain the gorilla.
- 21:39SPEAKER_03: This is the Spin Doctors.
- 21:42SPEAKER_03: I never would have guessed that.
- 21:44SPEAKER_03: Wow, this is pretty good.
- 21:47SPEAKER_03: It's kinda heavy for Spin Doctors.
- 21:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it's very um I don't know, they got a lot of fuzz going on there.
- 21:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 21:56SPEAKER_04: It's their first album in 12 years.
- 21:59SPEAKER_12: Wow.
- 22:00SPEAKER_04: Uh and the album is called Face Full of Cake.
- 22:04SPEAKER_04: I kinda like the title.
- 22:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, me too.
- 22:06SPEAKER_04: It's coming out April 11th.
- 22:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I never would have guessed spin doctors at all.
- 22:12SPEAKER_03: It doesn't sound like No, it doesn't sound like them at all.
- 22:15SPEAKER_04: Um uh what's his name there?
- 22:18SPEAKER_04: Uh Barron.
- 22:18SPEAKER_04: What's his name?
- 22:19SPEAKER_04: Chris Barron.
- 22:20SPEAKER_04: Doesn't sound like his voice.
- 22:21SPEAKER_04: No, it's definitely But it is.
- 22:24SPEAKER_03: You wouldn't know it.
- 22:26SPEAKER_03: It's it's it's completely different from what I'm used to.
- 22:37SPEAKER_04: So so listen to a couple of the song titles here.
- 22:40SPEAKER_04: Uh still a gorilla.
- 22:42SPEAKER_04: Double parked.
- 22:44SPEAKER_04: I liked you better when your butt was big.
- 22:50SPEAKER_04: The Buddha on the lawn.
- 22:53SPEAKER_04: Uh while you're holding the moon over me, when you got turmoil on your mind.
- 23:00SPEAKER_04: I just think it's cool that to hear from them again.
- 23:03SPEAKER_03: That's great, man.
- 23:04SPEAKER_03: This is a pretty good song.
- 23:05SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:06SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's there I mean you think of two you think of uh Spin Doctors, you think of Little Miss Can't Be Wrong or Two Princes or uh What Time of It?
- 23:14SPEAKER_04: Full Thursday.
- 23:16SPEAKER_03: It's full Thursday.
- 23:17SPEAKER_03: It's not late, not late.
- 23:18SPEAKER_04: No, it's hard life.
- 23:22SPEAKER_04: But kind of uh what'd you say funky?
- 23:26SPEAKER_04: Their stuff?
- 23:27SPEAKER_03: Well, it's kinda it's kind of punk rocky.
- 23:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 23:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 23:32SPEAKER_03: You know, with that extra fuzz on the on the guitar.
- 23:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:35SPEAKER_03: You know, it's kinda it's kind of like early, like.
- 23:37SPEAKER_03: But I mean, the early stuff.
- 23:38SPEAKER_04: Their early stuff was more like funky.
- 23:41SPEAKER_04: Acid acid rock.
- 23:42SPEAKER_04: But funky with a funky element to it.
- 23:44SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:45SPEAKER_03: It was like chili peppers meets uh, you know, uh, I don't know.
- 23:49SPEAKER_04: And then, and then, so they had this big thing, right?
- 23:52SPEAKER_04: Little Miss Can't Be Wrong, Two Princes, and they were big for a little while.
- 23:56SPEAKER_04: Uh, not very long, to be honest.
- 23:57SPEAKER_03: No, it was a it was a flash in the pants.
- 23:59SPEAKER_04: Um wasn't Pocket Full of Kryptonite, wasn't that the name of their debut album?
- 24:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:03SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:04SPEAKER_04: Um and then they they you know, maybe they put out a couple more albums.
- 24:08SPEAKER_04: But then they became I don't know if you know this or not, they became a blues band.
- 24:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:12SPEAKER_04: Straight up blues.
- 24:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:13SPEAKER_04: Uh, which is pretty cool.
- 24:14SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 24:15SPEAKER_04: Um, and now this is their I think it's it says it's their first album in twelve years.
- 24:20SPEAKER_04: So that's kind of cool.
- 24:21SPEAKER_04: I'm pretty excited about it.
- 24:22SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's pretty awesome.
- 24:23SPEAKER_04: Um so let's get to our list.
- 24:25SPEAKER_04: Because we've been we've been Ultimate Classic Rock uh does these lists.
- 24:32SPEAKER_04: Um and we like to um we like to steal them.
- 24:37SPEAKER_04: Steal them and and agree and disagree with them.
- 24:40SPEAKER_04: Mostly disagree.
- 24:41SPEAKER_04: Mostly disagree.
- 24:42SPEAKER_04: Um not always.
- 24:45SPEAKER_04: Sometimes they get it right.
- 24:46SPEAKER_03: Oh no, I mean I mean you know, for you know, corporate chills, I mean they're pretty good.
- 24:52SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 24:53SPEAKER_03: So I think we're gonna- I don't know if there are corporate chills.
- 24:55SPEAKER_04: I think we're gonna be surprised by this list because this list is the top twenty hard rock and heavy metal albums of nineteen ninety-five.
- 25:04SPEAKER_04: Alright.
- 25:04SPEAKER_04: Now, arguably, Grunge Grunge had already started.
- 25:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:08SPEAKER_03: You know, so some of these Well, Grunge was in full force and hair metal was on the way out.
- 25:14SPEAKER_04: I would say it was out.
- 25:16SPEAKER_03: In ninety ninety five?
- 25:17SPEAKER_03: They were still kind of kicking around.
- 25:18SPEAKER_04: You think so?
- 25:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:20SPEAKER_04: Well, that's true because like when did uh Poison's Native Tongue come out?
- 25:24SPEAKER_03: That was like ninety four, ninety five.
- 25:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 25:26SPEAKER_04: That's with Richie Cotton, right?
- 25:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:28SPEAKER_04: Um but they were still they were a different band than they were, because Native Tongue was completely different than Party.
- 25:33SPEAKER_03: No, it wasn't hair metal as we knew it.
- 25:35SPEAKER_03: Right, right, right.
- 25:36SPEAKER_03: It was still it was still around.
- 25:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:38SPEAKER_04: So so this is, like you said, this is um when Grunge was in full force.
- 25:44SPEAKER_04: Um, and we still had some bands out.
- 25:47SPEAKER_04: The Green Day was popular, Smashing Pumpkins Pro Jam, all that stuff.
- 25:51SPEAKER_04: Uh so the first first album on their list, believe it or not, number 20, is Warrant.
- 25:59SPEAKER_04: Ultraphobic.
- 26:00SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 26:01SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 26:02SPEAKER_04: Anything about this album.
- 26:04SPEAKER_03: I know zero about it.
- 26:05SPEAKER_04: Um Warrant were among the hair metal bands unfairly cast aside when the grunge wave came along.
- 26:11SPEAKER_04: Some would say they tried a bit too hard to fit in with the Seattle sound on 92's Forced Dog Eat Dog.
- 26:18SPEAKER_04: Was that the one with uh Uncle Tom's cabinet?
- 26:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 26:21SPEAKER_04: I thought so.
- 26:23SPEAKER_03: I don't I didn't find that grungy.
- 26:25SPEAKER_04: I didn't either.
- 26:26SPEAKER_03: It was hard.
- 26:27SPEAKER_03: It was harder, but yeah.
- 26:28SPEAKER_03: It wasn't grungy at all.
- 26:29SPEAKER_04: They got the balance right by restoring some of their natural pop smarts on 95's ultra phobic.
- 26:35SPEAKER_04: Do we want to try and see if we can find something from this album?
- 26:38SPEAKER_04: Why not, right?
- 26:39SPEAKER_03: Because we're because we know nothing about it.
- 26:41SPEAKER_04: I I So I mean I don't I don't know anything off this album.
- 26:44SPEAKER_04: I don't either.
- 26:45SPEAKER_04: Uh you watch, we probably know all of them.
- 26:48SPEAKER_04: Uh no, no, as I'm looking at the as I'm looking at the uh song titles, I don't know any of these songs.
- 26:55SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 26:55SPEAKER_04: So let's just play the first track.
- 26:57SPEAKER_04: Uh this is a commercial.
- 26:59SPEAKER_04: We're gonna come inside.
- 27:00SPEAKER_03: This kid just oh look, you're stealing my stuff.
- 27:02SPEAKER_03: So oh that's right, you're my son.
- 27:04SPEAKER_03: Let me give you a big hug, you big lug.
- 27:07SPEAKER_03: Here, take this.
- 27:08SPEAKER_03: Oh, this is good for you.
- 27:09SPEAKER_03: It's nature made.
- 27:12SPEAKER_03: There's your commercial.
- 27:15SPEAKER_04: This is called Undertaw.
- 27:24SPEAKER_03: I like it already.
- 27:26SPEAKER_03: That's pretty good.
- 27:35SPEAKER_04: I see it though.
- 27:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's definitely not what you're used to, right?
- 27:45SPEAKER_04: The vocals are buried.
- 27:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah, a lot of guitar.
- 27:51SPEAKER_03: Kind of like Alice and Chains-ish.
- 27:54SPEAKER_03: It is, you know what I mean?
- 27:56SPEAKER_04: But they're they're buried still.
- 27:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 28:08SPEAKER_03: You don't you don't even know that's JD Laney.
- 28:10SPEAKER_04: No.
- 28:14SPEAKER_04: Now see, I I like that song though.
- 28:16SPEAKER_04: I like it.
- 28:17SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I I don't know.
- 28:19SPEAKER_03: I've never heard of this album.
- 28:20SPEAKER_04: I don't know that zero about it.
- 28:22SPEAKER_04: That um I you know I would remix it.
- 28:27SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 28:28SPEAKER_03: Um, while you're remixing that, remix uh you know, Injustice for All, too.
- 28:33SPEAKER_03: Right, put some bass in there.
- 28:34SPEAKER_03: What?
- 28:36SPEAKER_03: There was plenty of bass in there.
- 28:40SPEAKER_04: Alright, here's another one that I have no idea about.
- 28:42SPEAKER_04: Fu Manchu.
- 28:45SPEAKER_03: Bless you.
- 28:47SPEAKER_04: Number 19, Ultimate Classic Rock has Fu Manchu.
- 28:50SPEAKER_04: The album is called Daredevil.
- 28:53SPEAKER_04: Um this is Trapeze Freak.
- 29:07SPEAKER_04: I was never a Fu Manchu guy.
- 29:10SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna be honest with you, this is the first time I've ever heard of them.
- 29:13SPEAKER_03: I think I've heard of them.
- 29:15SPEAKER_03: I I've heard of the mustache, I've never heard of uh the band.
- 29:21SPEAKER_04: Oh bad though.
- 29:28SPEAKER_04: No, I like I dig the riff.
- 29:50SPEAKER_04: Once again, the guitars are way too loud.
- 29:52SPEAKER_04: I can't believe as a guitar player I'm saying that.
- 30:03SPEAKER_04: I don't know if you're familiar with this song.
- 30:05SPEAKER_03: Well, it already sounds like Mr.
- 30:07SPEAKER_03: Crowley.
- 30:27SPEAKER_05: Come on, Ozzy.
- 30:35SPEAKER_02: There we go.
- 30:42SPEAKER_04: Of course, Zach Wilde.
- 30:44SPEAKER_04: That dude's great.
- 30:45SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 30:46SPEAKER_04: Mary's gonna love that guy.
- 30:47SPEAKER_04: Have you heard any of the stuff that he's done with with Pantera?
- 30:50SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 30:51SPEAKER_04: You have heard it?
- 30:52SPEAKER_04: Oh my word.
- 30:53SPEAKER_04: You like seeing it?
- 30:54SPEAKER_03: It's like the return of Dimebag.
- 30:56SPEAKER_04: You've seen like footage and stuff or you've heard it.
- 30:58SPEAKER_03: I've heard and seen.
- 30:59SPEAKER_04: Has he put have they put anything out?
- 31:01SPEAKER_03: Or is it like as Pantera?
- 31:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 31:03SPEAKER_04: No.
- 31:03SPEAKER_04: No.
- 31:03SPEAKER_04: No, they're not.
- 31:04SPEAKER_04: But they're just touring.
- 31:05SPEAKER_03: They're just I think they're just doing the greatest hits.
- 31:07SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 31:07SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 31:08SPEAKER_03: They're just being Pantera.
- 31:09SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 31:10SPEAKER_03: So which is fine.
- 31:12SPEAKER_03: Uh I don't, I don't, I don't need new music from those guys.
- 31:15SPEAKER_04: No, no.
- 31:16SPEAKER_04: Number 17.
- 31:18SPEAKER_04: Uh again, another band I never really got into.
- 31:20SPEAKER_04: This is Monster Magnet Dopes to Infinity.
- 31:27SPEAKER_03: I liked a couple of their songs, but yeah, see.
- 31:34SPEAKER_04: You know, 1995, I guess.
- 31:39SPEAKER_04: I guess so.
- 31:40SPEAKER_03: Well, we were really big into Hootie.
- 31:42SPEAKER_03: I guess so.
- 31:50SPEAKER_03: Isn't that another isn't that a rip from another song?
- 31:54SPEAKER_03: It's basically a Black Sabbath rip.
- 32:03SPEAKER_04: I don't dislike it.
- 32:12SPEAKER_04: Wow, what what is it with burying the vocals in 1995?
- 32:20SPEAKER_03: Everything was just well, I think there it was this it was the changeover from analog to digital.
- 32:26SPEAKER_03: Everybody wasn't sure what was going on or how to do it well.
- 32:30SPEAKER_03: Are you making that up?
- 32:30SPEAKER_03: Yes, I am.
- 32:31SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 32:32SPEAKER_03: I made it sound real though, didn't you?
- 32:34SPEAKER_03: You did.
- 32:34SPEAKER_03: That was super.
- 32:36SPEAKER_03: It's the the secret is to say it with authority.
- 32:38SPEAKER_04: That was very convincing.
- 32:39SPEAKER_03: See, there you go.
- 32:40SPEAKER_04: Uh I'm not gonna play, uh, you know, I was only gonna play one of those uh things, but uh and I ended up playing them uh more than I wanted to.
- 32:47SPEAKER_04: So I'll only play them if I if if it uh I don't know, if it really kind of catches me.
- 32:53SPEAKER_04: Number 16, Primus.
- 32:54SPEAKER_04: Tales from the Punch Bowl.
- 32:56SPEAKER_04: Um is Big Brown Beaver.
- 33:00SPEAKER_02: Great song.
- 33:01SPEAKER_04: Um I just love Primus.
- 33:03SPEAKER_04: Southbound Pacaderm uh was on this album.
- 33:07SPEAKER_04: Uh I don't know that one.
- 33:08SPEAKER_04: Caius.
- 33:10SPEAKER_04: And the circus leaves town.
- 33:11SPEAKER_04: Do you know Caius?
- 33:12SPEAKER_03: I I know very little about Caius.
- 33:14SPEAKER_04: I know the name.
- 33:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 33:15SPEAKER_04: I've never heard any of their music.
- 33:16SPEAKER_03: It's kind of uh it's kind of uh, you know, like a waspy.
- 33:20SPEAKER_04: Is it?
- 33:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 33:21SPEAKER_04: I was gonna say which makes me want to bring it up, but I'm not going to.
- 33:25SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 33:25SPEAKER_04: Uh Clutch.
- 33:26SPEAKER_04: Ooh, I like I do like Clutch.
- 33:29SPEAKER_04: Um there's their is it their debut album or is their second album?
- 33:33SPEAKER_04: Uh their second album was called Clutch.
- 33:36SPEAKER_04: So their second album was their self-titled album, apparently.
- 33:39SPEAKER_04: Um, but that's number 14.
- 33:42SPEAKER_04: ACDC's Ballbreaker was number 13.
- 33:45SPEAKER_04: I forgot that came out in 1995.
- 33:48SPEAKER_04: Um let's see.
- 33:52SPEAKER_04: Oh, Slash Snake Pit.
- 33:54SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 33:54SPEAKER_04: It's 5 o'clock somewhere.
- 33:55SPEAKER_04: Now is this is the one with I don't remember what was on this one.
- 34:00SPEAKER_04: No, this was the first one, I think.
- 34:03SPEAKER_04: This was the first one.
- 34:04SPEAKER_04: Because uh something Yeah.
- 34:10SPEAKER_04: The second album for Slash Snake Pit I have or had, I'm not sure if I still have it somewhere uh or not, but that has a song on there called um Mean Bone.
- 34:23SPEAKER_04: Have you ever heard that song?
- 34:27SPEAKER_04: I you know, if you like Slash, I mean we we were talking uh on the last podcast about Velvet Revolver.
- 34:34SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 34:35SPEAKER_04: Just the riffs.
- 34:36SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, just the riffs.
- 34:37SPEAKER_04: Um I do want to bring that up only because it's our podcast and I can't.
- 34:43SPEAKER_04: Um Slash is snaked mean bone.
- 34:49SPEAKER_04: I love the guitar riff of this song, and I also love how it um it comes back around.
- 34:58SPEAKER_04: Like it's a musical thing that I I you know even as a music teacher, even as a music teacher, I I fail to um I'm I can't explain what it is I'm talking about.
- 35:15SPEAKER_04: This is called Mean Bone.
- 35:17SPEAKER_04: Just the intro is awesome.
- 35:26SPEAKER_00: Girls, I got the boy with that with the porn style.
- 35:38SPEAKER_00: I'm working on the cards, it cut off the light, the fighting man alive.
- 36:02SPEAKER_04: Now that's a slash real quick and the chorus we're playing a lot of music on the podcast this week, I'm sorry, but um while that is why we do it, it is true.
- 36:35SPEAKER_04: The chorus is just rock and roll perfection.
- 36:41SPEAKER_04: I think.
- 37:24SPEAKER_04: So just let me try to explain.
- 37:27SPEAKER_04: Let me get to the guitar solo.
- 37:32SPEAKER_04: The way it all comes back around.
- 37:34SPEAKER_04: It's a musical thing, it's hard for me to explain.
- 37:39SPEAKER_04: So he he changes keys for the guitar solo.
- 37:43SPEAKER_04: But then somehow.
- 37:45SPEAKER_04: So there's the modulation right there.
- 37:47SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 37:47SPEAKER_04: Somehow he ends up back in the same key.
- 37:52SPEAKER_04: Um it's really not that hard to understand, but I just like the way he does it.
- 38:17SPEAKER_04: It's back in the the original key.
- 38:19SPEAKER_04: I find I find that just songwriting genius.
- 38:21SPEAKER_02: Oh, that's slash.
- 38:23SPEAKER_02: I mean, come on.
- 38:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that's uh the boy's wicked smash.
- 38:26SPEAKER_04: That's not even on the album that we're that is on the list.
- 38:29SPEAKER_04: Because that's on Ain't Life Grand, which is Slash's Snake Pit's second album.
- 38:33SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 38:34SPEAKER_04: Uh on the list from 1995 at number 12 is Slash's Snake Pit.
- 38:38SPEAKER_04: It's five o'clock somewhere.
- 38:40SPEAKER_04: Uh oh, Smashing Pumpkins, number 11, Melancholy and the Infinite Sadness.
- 38:45SPEAKER_03: Oh, a lot of a lot of good songs off the show.
- 38:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 38:48SPEAKER_04: Uh Bullet with Butterfly Wings, Zero Tonight Tonight.
- 38:51SPEAKER_04: 1979 is the name of the yeah.
- 38:54SPEAKER_04: Um interesting pick.
- 38:56SPEAKER_04: Motorhead.
- 38:57SPEAKER_04: Sacrifice, number 10.
- 39:01SPEAKER_03: I guess so.
- 39:02SPEAKER_03: I mean, he was the anti uh hair metal guy.
- 39:05SPEAKER_04: Yes he was.
- 39:06SPEAKER_04: And ended up being friends with a lot of the hair metal people.
- 39:09SPEAKER_03: Well, they all looked up to him.
- 39:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 39:10SPEAKER_03: I mean, who wouldn't?
- 39:11SPEAKER_03: It was Lemmy.
- 39:12SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 39:12SPEAKER_03: I mean who wouldn't want to hang out with Lemmy?
- 39:15SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 39:16SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 39:17SPEAKER_04: Uh oh, Pooh Fighters.
- 39:19SPEAKER_04: Oh, that was their first album.
- 39:20SPEAKER_04: That was their first album, self-titled.
- 39:22SPEAKER_03: Well, I should say it was Dave's first album.
- 39:24SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 39:24SPEAKER_04: He played all the instruments.
- 39:25SPEAKER_03: He did all the instruments.
- 39:26SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 39:27SPEAKER_03: Then he was like, I should get a band.
- 39:29SPEAKER_04: So that's number nine.
- 39:31SPEAKER_04: Uh number eight, Insomniac from Green Day, which had reigns too.
- 39:36SPEAKER_03: Um That was before the Was that after the uh was that after Dookie or That was after Dookie.
- 39:43SPEAKER_04: Um Yeah, Dookie came out the year before in 94.
- 39:47SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 39:48SPEAKER_04: Uh Faith No More.
- 39:49SPEAKER_04: King for a Day, Fool for a Lifetime.
- 39:52SPEAKER_04: Number seven.
- 39:52SPEAKER_04: Do you know that album?
- 39:53SPEAKER_04: Nope.
- 39:54SPEAKER_04: I don't think I do either.
- 39:56SPEAKER_04: Um they say let's see.
- 39:59SPEAKER_04: They do say a new listener might be surprised to hear that the pulverizing get out and the silky smooth evidence were from the same band and not the result of a multidisc CD player being said to shuffle as weirdly as possible.
- 40:12SPEAKER_04: That sounds like Faith Lomore.
- 40:14SPEAKER_03: That does sound like Faith Lomore.
- 40:15SPEAKER_04: Uh Stomp 40 uh Stomp 442.
- 40:19SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 40:19SPEAKER_04: Uh I don't know that album.
- 40:21SPEAKER_04: That's a good album.
- 40:21SPEAKER_04: Uh with John Bush from Murmured Sink.
- 40:24SPEAKER_04: And Dimebag is on that album as well.
- 40:26SPEAKER_04: On a pair on two songs?
- 40:27SPEAKER_04: Probably.
- 40:28SPEAKER_04: Including Riding Shotgun.
- 40:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, Dimebag.
- 40:31SPEAKER_04: So did you say this was this was after Danny Switch left?
- 40:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 40:36SPEAKER_03: And this was uh Joey Baladona was going to.
- 40:39SPEAKER_03: Uh so this was John Bush from Armored Saint.
- 40:41SPEAKER_04: Oh, there you go.
- 40:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah, you're right.
- 40:42SPEAKER_04: It is uh it says their second album with John Bush.
- 40:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 40:46SPEAKER_04: Uh Alice Chains.
- 40:47SPEAKER_04: Uh a debut album.
- 40:49SPEAKER_04: Is that right?
- 40:50SPEAKER_04: 95?
- 40:51SPEAKER_04: No, that can't be.
- 40:52SPEAKER_04: No, I think that was uh It's just their self-titled.
- 40:54SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 40:54SPEAKER_04: Um I remember that cover.
- 40:56SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 40:57SPEAKER_04: Three Legging a Dog.
- 40:58SPEAKER_03: What's up?
- 40:59SPEAKER_04: So let's see, what is on this one?
- 41:02SPEAKER_04: Uh doesn't quite reach the consistency and power of 1992's dirt, but it columns closed with songs such as Again, The Grind.
- 41:10SPEAKER_04: Oh, Heaven Beside You is on this one.
- 41:12SPEAKER_04: Heaven Beside You is a great song.
- 41:13SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 41:14SPEAKER_04: Um White Zombie, Astro Creep 2000.
- 41:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:20SPEAKER_03: I saw them.
- 41:22SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:23SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:24SPEAKER_03: Well, I just felt bad for him because Pantera opened for 'em.
- 41:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they shouldn't have gone on.
- 41:30unknown: Afterwards.
- 41:31SPEAKER_03: I should have just been like, yeah, well, we'll see y'all later.
- 41:33SPEAKER_03: Enjoy.
- 41:34SPEAKER_03: Hope you guys like Pantera because they never kicked our butt.
- 41:36SPEAKER_03: See y'all later.
- 41:38SPEAKER_04: Uh Skid Row, Subhuman Race.
- 41:41SPEAKER_04: Um, number three.
- 41:43SPEAKER_04: Uh, let's see.
- 41:44SPEAKER_04: It's a shame the classic lineup of Skid Row can't get along because they've never made a bad album together.
- 41:49SPEAKER_04: After bugging conventional career wisdom by following up the chart success of their debut with a much harder slave to the grind.
- 41:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that was a thing.
- 41:57SPEAKER_04: Cranked up the intensity yet again on Subhuman Race.
- 42:01SPEAKER_04: Uh I can't think of any song on this album that I know, but in 1995 I don't think Skid Row was getting played on the radio.
- 42:09SPEAKER_04: Not really, though.
- 42:10SPEAKER_04: To be honest.
- 42:10SPEAKER_04: Unless it was from the debut album.
- 42:12SPEAKER_04: Uh Down.
- 42:14SPEAKER_04: Down is awesome.
- 42:15SPEAKER_04: Is it really?
- 42:15SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that was a good album.
- 42:17SPEAKER_04: Um Roaming Beyond the Thrash and Power Metal of his main band, Pantera.
- 42:23SPEAKER_04: Oh, this is Phil Anselmo's album.
- 42:25SPEAKER_04: Our band.
- 42:27SPEAKER_04: And Pepper Keenan of Corrosion of Conformity.
- 42:30SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 42:31SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm telling you, man.
- 42:32SPEAKER_03: It was like a super group kind of thing.
- 42:34SPEAKER_03: So, yeah, it was it was a great album.
- 42:36unknown: Wow.
- 42:37SPEAKER_04: Okay, so Ultimate Classic Rock, You Have Won My Heart.
- 42:40SPEAKER_04: The number one album on this list.
- 42:43SPEAKER_04: Van Halen's Balance.
- 42:44SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 42:45SPEAKER_04: Didn't see that coming.
- 42:46SPEAKER_04: I didn't either, because a lot of people pan this album.
- 42:48SPEAKER_03: I like this album.
- 42:49SPEAKER_04: I love this album too.
- 42:50SPEAKER_04: I mean, it's a little disjointed comparatively, but I love this album.
- 42:54SPEAKER_03: Well, I mean, you just you can't help it because the opening track is seventh seal.
- 43:00SPEAKER_03: And it just and it is so great as an opener for an album.
- 43:04SPEAKER_03: You're just like, man, this is the best one ever!
- 43:07SPEAKER_04: So much so that we're gonna play it.
- 43:09SPEAKER_04: We're gonna play a little bit of the seventh seal from the number one uh thing on their list.
- 43:16SPEAKER_04: Balance.
- 43:17SPEAKER_04: Where is it?
- 43:18SPEAKER_04: Where is it?
- 43:18SPEAKER_04: There's that, and there's this.
- 43:21SPEAKER_04: I saw this in in uh Canada at the Bell Center in Montreal, and they had guys under the stage singing like monks.
- 43:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah, or that they sounded like monks.
- 43:37SPEAKER_04: This is a great opening track, and this was a darker album for them.
- 43:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah, but it makes sense when you know of the internal politics of a lot of exactly, yeah, exactly, and a great name, you know, balance of trying to balance things out.
- 44:00SPEAKER_04: Just a just a tone.
- 44:28SPEAKER_04: The tone on his guitar.
- 44:29SPEAKER_04: Hold it down.
- 44:35SPEAKER_03: I think he finally found it.
- 44:37SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:38SPEAKER_03: He finally found the tone he'd been looking for.
- 44:40SPEAKER_03: Because now he had his own line of, you know, his own, you know, ZBH guitars.
- 44:45SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 44:45SPEAKER_03: His own line of amps.
- 44:47SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 44:48SPEAKER_03: And it was all on this album, so it was like it was like the perfect storm.
- 44:51SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 44:52SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 44:52SPEAKER_03: It was like the Eddie you've been waiting for.
- 44:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and then and then he screwed it all up with Van Halen 3.
- 44:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah, well, I mean, he was drinking a lot, so I mean, you know, I just a short-lived victory, that's all I'm gonna say.
- 45:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 45:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, this is I think an underrated album.
- 45:13SPEAKER_04: There's I mean, there's some songs on here.
- 45:15SPEAKER_04: I just can't stand.
- 45:17SPEAKER_03: Well, I don't like Amsterdam.
- 45:18SPEAKER_03: That's I really can't.
- 45:20SPEAKER_03: See, now I like Amsterdam.
- 45:21SPEAKER_03: I don't like that song.
- 45:22SPEAKER_04: This is the one I don't like.
- 45:24SPEAKER_04: This is a throwaway song.
- 45:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I don't like that song either.
- 45:27SPEAKER_04: You know, it's it's just a joke.
- 45:28SPEAKER_04: It's like, why didn't you even put this out in the album?
- 45:30SPEAKER_04: Big fat money?
- 45:31SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 45:31SPEAKER_12: Some Sam Money is bad for the soul!
- 45:34unknown: Bad for the rock!
- 45:35SPEAKER_04: Bad for the rock! Yeah, something tells me this was a Sammy.
- 45:38SPEAKER_03: I totally agree.
- 45:39SPEAKER_04: You know what I mean?
- 45:42SPEAKER_04: Yeah, this sounds like something that would be on a solo Sammy album.
- 45:45SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 45:46SPEAKER_04: Right?
- 45:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that was not good energy, but I just for sure.
- 45:51SPEAKER_03: For sure.
- 45:52SPEAKER_04: For sure.
- 45:52SPEAKER_04: So that's the list, uh, the top 20 hard rock and heavy metal albums from 1995.
- 46:00SPEAKER_04: So there you go.
- 46:02SPEAKER_04: Done.
- 46:02SPEAKER_04: Done.
- 46:03SPEAKER_04: That was good.
- 46:04SPEAKER_04: You know what was a good list.
- 46:05SPEAKER_04: Did I tell didn't we say that there was uh theme music for this?
- 46:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, it was damage incorporated.
- 46:11SPEAKER_04: That's right, and I don't have that.
- 46:18SPEAKER_03: It's time for the job.
- 46:32SPEAKER_03: Is it is it time?
- 46:36SPEAKER_03: I think it's time.
- 46:38SPEAKER_03: I hear the I hear I hear the song building up.
- 46:42SPEAKER_03: Let's get there.
- 46:48SPEAKER_04: Do I need to forward it?
- 46:49SPEAKER_04: No, yeah.
- 46:50SPEAKER_04: It's coming.
- 47:07SPEAKER_03: Stop.
- 47:08SPEAKER_03: Okay, okay, this is getting this is a little long.
- 47:10SPEAKER_04: Yeah, I was gonna say uh let's try right here.
- 47:13SPEAKER_03: There we are.
- 47:14unknown: Okay.
- 47:14SPEAKER_03: Now we're getting somewhere.
- 47:15SPEAKER_03: Okay, here we go.
- 47:16SPEAKER_12: It's mixed time.
- 47:28SPEAKER_04: Alright, so this is the time.
- 47:30SPEAKER_04: This is the time on Sprockets when we die.
- 47:33SPEAKER_04: Touch my monkey, touch it! Alright, it's time to play mixtape.
- 47:37SPEAKER_04: We're gonna do the past, present, and present and picture of mixed tape.
- 47:41SPEAKER_04: So the the last question.
- 47:44SPEAKER_03: Okay, that was the uh saddest.
- 47:46SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, and I did Gilbert.
- 47:48SPEAKER_04: Oh, oh wait, before you do that, before you do that, uh I'm gonna read some viewer mail.
- 47:52SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 47:53SPEAKER_04: Did I say viewer mail?
- 47:54SPEAKER_04: I meant listener mail.
- 47:56SPEAKER_04: Um who's viewing us right now?
- 47:58SPEAKER_04: Right, exactly.
- 47:58SPEAKER_04: Okay, so this kind of leads into mixed tape.
- 48:01SPEAKER_04: Okay.
- 48:02SPEAKER_04: Um, but I also uh forgot to read Bob's uh Bob Lanchard's um uh email from before.
- 48:09SPEAKER_04: Okay, okay.
- 48:10SPEAKER_03: So start with that one.
- 48:11SPEAKER_04: Yeah, he sent an email um to us on Facebook uh on January 8th, and he said, during the last podcast, you were interested in learning more about your listeners.
- 48:20SPEAKER_04: Here goes my profile.
- 48:21SPEAKER_04: Oh so Bob Lanchard.
- 48:25SPEAKER_04: We call him Bouncin'Bob.
- 48:26SPEAKER_04: Bouncin'bob.
- 48:27SPEAKER_04: Uh he lives in Pennsylvania.
- 48:29SPEAKER_04: I'm not gonna say where, uh, but I will say in the state.
- 48:33SPEAKER_04: I will say that it's near Altoona, which is one of our Yeah, this is obviously yeah.
- 48:40SPEAKER_04: Uh interest in the podcast.
- 48:41SPEAKER_04: Music, of course, Prescal News, ATLC News, um, uh Prescale School News.
- 48:48SPEAKER_04: My wife taught in the Prescal Schools.
- 48:49SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, I didn't know that.
- 48:51SPEAKER_03: I forgot about that.
- 48:52SPEAKER_04: I didn't know that.
- 48:53SPEAKER_04: Uh The Music Shop and Your Bands, proprietors Hall and King were former students of mine.
- 48:59SPEAKER_03: I believe that.
- 49:00SPEAKER_04: And memorable podcast, the Pines Review.
- 49:03SPEAKER_04: Oh, that was a good one.
- 49:04SPEAKER_04: Dirt Drifters.
- 49:05SPEAKER_04: Yeah, that was a good one.
- 49:06SPEAKER_04: John Hyatt, any interview with your former bandmates.
- 49:09SPEAKER_04: Beatles info by Doug.
- 49:11SPEAKER_04: Look into the future.
- 49:12SPEAKER_04: Interviews with your current bandmates.
- 49:13SPEAKER_04: Get Joel on the show.
- 49:14SPEAKER_03: Oh, I'd love to have Joel on the show.
- 49:16SPEAKER_04: I would too.
- 49:17SPEAKER_04: Uh he's a very, very, very busy man.
- 49:19SPEAKER_04: He is.
- 49:20SPEAKER_03: Super busy.
- 49:22SPEAKER_04: Uh, more about the rock docks.
- 49:24SPEAKER_04: I don't talk about that.
- 49:26SPEAKER_04: They're done.
- 49:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they're they're done.
- 49:28SPEAKER_04: They broke up.
- 49:28SPEAKER_04: Uh, other OS County musicians mostly keep doing what you like to talk about.
- 49:33SPEAKER_04: Keep up the great work on the podcast.
- 49:34SPEAKER_04: So that was January 9th.
- 49:35SPEAKER_04: All right.
- 49:35SPEAKER_03: Thanks, Bob.
- 49:36SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Bob.
- 49:37SPEAKER_04: Uh, and then this one.
- 49:39SPEAKER_04: So, this is what leads into today's question.
- 49:42SPEAKER_04: All right, okay, so that episode was great.
- 49:45SPEAKER_04: Love your pick of Gilbert O'Sullivan's song Alone Again Naturally as your sad song.
- 49:51SPEAKER_04: It should be the winner.
- 49:54SPEAKER_04: No bias.
- 49:55SPEAKER_04: Wow, we'll see.
- 49:56SPEAKER_04: We'll see.
- 49:56SPEAKER_04: So he says, trivia time.
- 49:58SPEAKER_04: Both Gilbert O'Sullivan and Sugar Ray used the same line in a song.
- 50:04SPEAKER_04: The line, 25 years ago, my mother, God rest her soul, appeared in Alone Again Naturally in 1972 and in Sugar Ray's Fly in 1997.
- 50:15SPEAKER_04: I did know that, but I didn't put the two together.
- 50:17SPEAKER_04: I never would have put the two together.
- 50:19SPEAKER_04: Of course, the two songs were 25 years apart, naturally.
- 50:21SPEAKER_04: I can't believe that on a podcast that featured Peter Mulvey on the Wall of Tunes, that neither of you picked his song Sad, Sad, Sad, and A Long Way from Home.
- 50:29SPEAKER_04: I'm very impressed, Bob, that you know that album.
- 50:33SPEAKER_03: I wouldn't have known that.
- 50:34SPEAKER_04: He said it was right on that Peter Mulvey album, and it's true.
- 50:37SPEAKER_04: Oh well, keep up the great work on the podcast, and he signs it, Bouncin Bob.
- 50:41SPEAKER_04: So that was kind of cool.
- 50:42SPEAKER_04: Thanks, Bob.
- 50:43SPEAKER_04: I wanted to I wanted to share that because That's awesome.
- 50:45SPEAKER_04: I love it when Bob writes in.
- 50:46SPEAKER_04: And Ilsa.
- 50:47SPEAKER_04: And Elsa Grand.
- 50:48SPEAKER_04: Hi, Ilsa.
- 50:49SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 50:50SPEAKER_04: Um okay, so you were about to reveal uh the picks for Sad Song.
- 50:57SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 50:58SPEAKER_02: So where is it?
- 51:03SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 51:08SPEAKER_03: Okay, so this is I just I just love how she opens sometimes.
- 51:13SPEAKER_04: She's gonna pick Samuel Barber.
- 51:15SPEAKER_04: I know she is.
- 51:16SPEAKER_03: Oh, holy poop.
- 51:17SPEAKER_03: I forgot it was Tuesday.
- 51:19SPEAKER_03: That's how she opened.
- 51:21SPEAKER_03: I was like, I love it.
- 51:22SPEAKER_03: In my head, it's been Monday all day.
- 51:24SPEAKER_03: Apologies.
- 51:26SPEAKER_03: I think she sent me this last night.
- 51:27SPEAKER_03: Got it.
- 51:28SPEAKER_03: Uh it was a tough pick this week.
- 51:30SPEAKER_03: All very beautiful songs, but all certainly sad songs.
- 51:33SPEAKER_03: It was a difficult pick, but I ended up with going with Ad Adagio for Springs.
- 51:38SPEAKER_03: I enjoy classical slash instrumental music, and the tempo certainly gives it a somber air about the music.
- 51:45SPEAKER_04: She's not wrong.
- 51:46SPEAKER_04: I mean, if I would have if we were picking compositions and not songs, I would have picked that one too.
- 51:52SPEAKER_03: So she went on, we we talked a little bit more, and she went on and she's like, oh, I listened to That's My Job that O'Brien recommended last week.
- 51:59SPEAKER_03: Amazing song.
- 52:00SPEAKER_03: Thank you for the recommendation.
- 52:02SPEAKER_03: That probably that probably would have been the winner had that been in the mix.
- 52:06SPEAKER_03: Really?
- 52:07SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 52:07SPEAKER_04: So I will and I will tell you something about that song.
- 52:10SPEAKER_04: As you know, I've been trying to be a songwriter, a working songwriter for a long time.
- 52:14SPEAKER_04: Correct.
- 52:15SPEAKER_04: Every time I hear that song, I cry.
- 52:18SPEAKER_04: Well, I believe that.
- 52:19SPEAKER_04: Every single time I hear that song, I cry.
- 52:21SPEAKER_03: It's Conway Twitty, man.
- 52:23SPEAKER_04: And it's not even that.

- 59:12SPEAKER_03: I don't know why this has anything to do with it.
- 59:14SPEAKER_03: Righteously quitting a job, throwing a cheeseburger at your horrible boss.
- 59:18SPEAKER_03: I don't know why you would throw a hor a perfectly good cheeseburger at your boss.
- 59:23SPEAKER_03: I guess it's the song you're gonna quit to, basically.
- 59:26SPEAKER_04: Oh so you're throwing a cheeseburger at your boss.

- 59:51SPEAKER_03: Too easy, yeah.
- 59:52SPEAKER_03: Too easy, man.

- 1:02:16SPEAKER_03: Doug's gonna read from a hard day's right.
- 1:02:18SPEAKER_03: I am, and we're going to talk about my least favorite Beatles song ever.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 1:02:23SPEAKER_03: I don't know why.
- 1:02:24SPEAKER_03: I don't know why either.
- 1:02:25SPEAKER_03: I just I never cared for this song.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_03: It's Hello Goodbye.
- 1:02:29SPEAKER_03: Uh goodbye.
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_03: Alistair Taylor, who worked for Brian Epstein, remembered once asking Paul how he wrote his songs, and Paul taking him into his dining room to give a demonstration on a hand-carved harmonium.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_03: Interesting.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_03: He told Taylor to shout out the opposite of whatever he sang as he struck the keys, and so it went black and white, yes and no.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_03: Stop and go.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_03: Hello and goodbye.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_03: I have no memory at all of that tune, Taylor later recounted.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_03: You have to remember that melodies are as common around the Beatles as bugs in May.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_03: Fair enough.
- 1:03:06SPEAKER_03: Some grow into bright butterflies, and others shriveling die.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_03: I wonder whether Paul really made that made up that song as he went along, or whether it was running through his head already.
- 1:03:17SPEAKER_03: Anyway, shortly afterward, he arrived at the office with a demo tape of the latest single, Hello Goodbye.
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_03: The last part of the record, where the Beatles repeat the line, Hey La, Hey Aloha, came about spontaneously in the studio.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_03: Aloha is an affectionate form of Hawaiian greeting.
- 1:03:36SPEAKER_03: Excuse me.
- 1:03:37SPEAKER_03: If Hello Goodbye was nothing more than a word game set to music, in the mystical climate of 1967, Paul was expected to offer a deeper interpretation in an interview with Disk.
- 1:03:49SPEAKER_03: He gallantly tried to produce an explanation.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_03: If you have black, you have to have white.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_03: And that's the amazing thing about life.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_04: It is kind of lame.
- 1:04:08SPEAKER_03: Chopped the Chopped the Charts in both Britain and America.
- 1:04:12SPEAKER_03: The final Aloha chorus was used in the magical mystery tour field.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_04: It also chopped the tarts.
- 1:04:19SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_03: That thank you so much for your It Chopped the Tarts.
- 1:04:24SPEAKER_03: Chopped the Tarts.
- 1:04:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I love tarts.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_03: Especially chopped ones, it's great.
- 1:04:29SPEAKER_04: Uh haila.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_04: Notice I didn't play the song while you while you were reading, because I know you don't like it.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_04: Hello.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_03: I don't know why you say hello.
- 1:04:38SPEAKER_03: I say goodbye.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_03: I just I I don't know.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_03: I mean, if you've never heard the song, it's just very just for you not to like a Beatles song.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, I know.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_03: I don't know why I don't like it.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_03: I just I just never I think it's just because it's just kind of ridiculous to me.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_03: You know, but I I don't know.
- 1:04:56SPEAKER_04: There's a lot of Beatles songs that are pretty stupid, though.
- 1:04:57SPEAKER_03: Well yeah, but there's there's something like Happiness is a Warm Gun.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_03: That's a stupid song, but I love it.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:05:02SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
- 1:05:04SPEAKER_03: I guess it's just dealer's choice, I suppose.
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_04: That's aight.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_04: I forgive you.
- 1:05:08SPEAKER_04: Thank me.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_04: Okay, so I have an album.
- 1:05:11SPEAKER_04: And it's time for you to start guessing, so let the guessing speaker.
- 1:05:15SPEAKER_03: It's a band.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_04: It is.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_04: How'd you know?
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 1:05:17SPEAKER_03: I just guessed.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_03: I had a 50-50 shot.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_04: It is the band.
- 1:05:20SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_03: The rock band?
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_04: It is the rock band.
- 1:05:23SPEAKER_03: Alright.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_03: Height of popularity.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_04: I will say the 80s.
- 1:05:28SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:05:29SPEAKER_03: How many members in the band?
- 1:05:31SPEAKER_03: Five.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_03: Okay.
- 1:05:32SPEAKER_03: It's white.
- 1:05:33SPEAKER_03: It's not.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_03: It's dark.
- 1:05:35SPEAKER_03: It's not.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_03: Because there's not five people.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_03: That was a trick.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_03: That was a trick question.
- 1:05:39SPEAKER_03: You passed back when they were on the chop of the target.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_03: Chop on the target.
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_03: Chop of the most chop of the most.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_03: Slap on the base.
- 1:05:54SPEAKER_03: Slap a de base.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_03: What?
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_03: Red.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_03: It's just appeared.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_03: Are you sure?
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_03: I think you would know his own name.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_03: Friggin' Jason Sequel, Paul Reddit.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_03: Oh.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_03: What was that?

- 1:06:31SPEAKER_03: Um Band.
- 1:06:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_04: 80s band.
- 1:06:34SPEAKER_04: 80s band.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_03: Rock band.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_03: Like iconic songs?
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_03: They do have iconic songs.
- 1:06:41SPEAKER_03: Is it Bond Jovi?
- 1:06:42SPEAKER_04: Nope.
- 1:06:44SPEAKER_03: Is it Journey?
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_03: Nope.
- 1:06:46SPEAKER_03: Do they have a keyboard player?
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_04: Is it Bonjoy?
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_03: You just ask me that.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_03: No, no.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_03: Is it Journey?
- 1:06:56SPEAKER_03: No.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_03: For some reason the way I do any man, I can come up with uh keyboards on them.
- 1:07:06SPEAKER_04: You didn't.
- 1:07:09SPEAKER_03: I don't think they had a keyboard player.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_04: Well, not on a live, they didn't know that.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_03: Well, no, they probably did, actually.
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_04: I know Don Ary played in for them, keyboards for them in the first one of the first incarnations of the internet.
- 1:07:28SPEAKER_04: They have a song on their debut album, and that is the name of the band.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_03: Night Ranger.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_04: Night Ranger.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_04: Sister Christian would be their biggest one.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_04: And Kelly Keggy was the drummer, and he sang lead on that.
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_04: So the album that I picked is Midnight Madness.
- 1:09:17SPEAKER_04: Uh from 1983.
- 1:09:20SPEAKER_04: Um this actually has Sister Christian on it.
- 1:09:25SPEAKER_04: But and it also has their big uh You Can Still Rock in America.
- 1:09:28SPEAKER_04: I like that.
- 1:09:29SPEAKER_04: It's a great song.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 1:09:30SPEAKER_04: Um but it's got some great other great album cuts.
- 1:09:34SPEAKER_04: Well, actually, not just album cuts, but Rumors in the Air is on here.
- 1:09:37SPEAKER_04: That was a hit.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_04: Rumors in the Air Like a Thief in the Night.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_04: I think I'm familiar with that.
- 1:09:42SPEAKER_04: No?
- 1:09:43SPEAKER_04: Um so Touch of Madness, Passion Play, Chippin' Away.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_04: Um all of these are just fantastic.
- 1:09:51SPEAKER_04: Passion play here.
- 1:09:52SPEAKER_04: This one kind of fades in.
- 1:09:54SPEAKER_04: Um I I love this band.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_04: Of course, they've put out um a lot of records in the past 10 or 15 years, and I I think they've rushed them out.
- 1:10:07SPEAKER_04: Because although they're good and just great rock and roll, um, they're not they're they're not memorable.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_04: There's, you know, not to clean.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_03: Well, something tells me that, you know.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_03: Time is ticking.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_03: So they're trying to get out maybe stuff.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_03: I don't know, you know, I don't I know that's just speculation, of course.
- 1:10:28SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 1:10:30SPEAKER_04: But I have this on cassette uh when it first came out.
