- 0:21Speaker 1: Dominique Foxworth is with us. He is in Pittsburgh. He
- 0:24Speaker 1: is in the hotel room in Pittsburgh.
- 0:26Speaker 2: He was early, We were early. He was surprised that
- 0:28Speaker 2: we were early. I was not surprised that he was earthy.
- 0:32Speaker 2: You were surprised we were ready. We were ready.
- 0:34Speaker 3: I mean you told me ten thirty, so I figured
- 0:37Speaker 3: out was sign in and then start plugging my things.
- 0:39Speaker 2: And then next thing you know, I'm walking by my underwear.
- 0:42Speaker 2: You got to open the screen. It's like.
- 0:47Speaker 1: It was a pants on to plug some shit up. Yeah,
- 0:49Speaker 1: Taylor said, let's let's get him into the meeting here.
- 0:52Speaker 1: He said, maybe he's not ready yet.
- 0:54Speaker 2: T T's trying to get a peek.
- 0:59Speaker 4: Can I make a confession in here?
- 1:00Speaker 5: If you ask my girlfriend why I got a haircut,
- 1:02Speaker 5: it's because there's a wedding this upcoming weekend that we
- 1:05Speaker 5: have to go to. But the real reason I got
- 1:07Speaker 5: a Haircutmique.
- 1:09Speaker 2: Could have gotten it afterwards.
- 1:10Speaker 6: Yes, you look good. You look good man, You look good.
- 1:15Speaker 6: I like the little little stubble you got going right there.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Nice.
- 1:19Speaker 1: He's got a weird sort of love and respect for
- 1:22Speaker 1: you that he doesn't have for many other people.
- 1:24Speaker 2: Dominique. I gotta be honest with you and nothing.
- 1:26Speaker 3: There's nothing weird about love and respect. Maybe for you,
- 1:30Speaker 3: you think love respect is weird, right. I think we
- 1:33Speaker 3: just some people we love and respect.
- 1:35Speaker 7: I'm just saying for you, he has a love and respect.
- 1:38Speaker 1: I love and respect you. I don't care if he
- 1:40Speaker 1: loves and respects me. I'm just saying. No one else
- 1:42Speaker 1: gets this other than you.
- 1:44Speaker 2: It's a reverence. I appreciate it.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I mean we're kindred spirits. He sees something in me,
- 1:50Speaker 3: and I see something in him. I'm proud of him
- 1:53Speaker 3: because I feel like he's getting colder by the minute every.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Time I see him. He's a little bit more confident.
- 1:58Speaker 8: Yes.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Nice, that's all it comes down to. Yes.
- 2:01Speaker 1: I mean he should just carry around the microphone. He's
- 2:03Speaker 1: a totally different person. I thought about Taylor yesterday.
- 2:09Speaker 3: I was on the elevator headed to my coming down
- 2:11Speaker 3: from my room and headed to the live show. And
- 2:13Speaker 3: so I'm dressed up a little bit and a lady said,
- 2:16Speaker 3: you look nice, and.
- 2:18Speaker 2: I know what to do. I panicked, panic. I'm normally
- 2:23Speaker 2: normally prepared.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Because I was on the elevator, I wasn't expected it,
- 2:27Speaker 3: and I don't know. It was two younger women who
- 2:29Speaker 3: were like worried about their own thing. So I'm in
- 2:32Speaker 3: my own day, listened to my podcast, and she just
- 2:34Speaker 3: looked over, like, you look nice those nice glasses.
- 2:39Speaker 2: Thanks.
- 2:40Speaker 9: If both of you need help on what to say,
- 2:42Speaker 9: just yeah, I'm normally ready.
- 2:45Speaker 3: I'm disappointed in myself. I'm normally ready. I let my
- 2:48Speaker 3: man Taylor down.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Well, let's let's stay on Taylor for a second, because
- 2:52Speaker 1: earlier on our one of stegatsa company, I asked him
- 2:58Speaker 1: to rank the sporting events that matter to Tailor today.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Okay and Taylor in this order.
- 3:04Speaker 1: Dominique number three the NFL draft, and it was a
- 3:08Speaker 1: distant third, he said, wow. Number two Nicks Hawk's playoff
- 3:12Speaker 1: game with a series that is tied up at a
- 3:15Speaker 1: game apiece, headed back to Atlanta.
- 3:17Speaker 2: That was number two.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Number one Red Sox Yankees regular season baseball.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I mean, come on, controlling trolling. He's not as good anymore.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Huh Yeah, regular season baseball doesn't matter as the regular
- 3:32Speaker 3: season baseball players.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Put it on the ball. Tailor, that's tough. Yeah, I
- 3:38Speaker 2: mean I get that the NFL Draft is not that exciting.
- 3:41Speaker 3: It's just people names getting called out and like the
- 3:44Speaker 3: most impactful picks, we don't know what they are until
- 3:46Speaker 3: five years from now. However, it's still football, man. Yeah,
- 3:52Speaker 3: you get a little bit of something little close to football.
- 3:54Speaker 3: That's America. And that's the best part about the NBA
- 3:56Speaker 3: playoffs is it's a little bit more like football than
- 3:59Speaker 3: NBA regular season.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Is violent.
- 4:02Speaker 4: Well, we're going for the sweep in Boston.
- 4:05Speaker 2: What.
- 4:06Speaker 9: Yeah, he's crazy, man, really, it's all dude. He's like
- 4:11Speaker 9: an old school guy and a very young body.
- 4:16Speaker 3: I saw I think he posted from a baseball game.
- 4:19Speaker 3: How could you not be romantic about this?
- 4:21Speaker 2: I hated it.
- 4:26Speaker 6: I liked it because I hated it. So I gave
- 4:28Speaker 6: my heart because it was so despicable that I wanted
- 4:30Speaker 6: to encourage it.
- 4:32Speaker 9: Dominique, he took his girlfriend on a date, a date
- 4:35Speaker 9: to a World Baseball Classic game.
- 4:37Speaker 2: She hated, Oh my gosh, what's your your girlfriend? Like, uh,
- 4:43Speaker 2: softball player or something was like, why.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Would you so, Dominique?
- 4:47Speaker 2: What I did was Dominican, she must be yes, they
- 4:56Speaker 2: like baseball.
- 4:57Speaker 5: So Dominicque was a two part day where the first
- 5:01Speaker 5: half of the date was for something I liked and
- 5:03Speaker 5: the second half of the date was something she liked,
- 5:05Speaker 5: but I knew the baseball game would tire her out
- 5:07Speaker 5: so much that we would never get to the second part.
- 5:11Speaker 2: What about the third What about the third part?
- 5:16Speaker 3: The third part is what allows you to get away
- 5:18Speaker 3: with the other bullet pullet if you want to take
- 5:21Speaker 3: it to a baseball game, you.
- 5:25Speaker 2: Game. He messed up the first part so bad he
- 5:28Speaker 2: didn't get the third part. Yes, they didn't even get
- 5:32Speaker 2: to the second part. What was so long? What was
- 5:35Speaker 2: the second part supposed to be? Taylor?
- 5:37Speaker 5: The second part was supposed to be drinks out on Kyocho,
- 5:41Speaker 5: which leads perfectly into the third part, which you'd ever
- 5:44Speaker 5: got to, right, Yeah, she.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Would texta girls at the like, man, this low to
- 5:50Speaker 3: a baseball game? And then the next one is she like, however,
- 5:55Speaker 3: I don't even know what we did earlier tonight because
- 5:59Speaker 3: t t put it.
- 6:01Speaker 10: So the NFL Draft, Yeah, No, I want to stay
- 6:07Speaker 10: right here, And I can't believe I'm saying that because
- 6:11Speaker 10: no one.
- 6:11Speaker 2: Loved the draft.
- 6:14Speaker 1: That's my fault, Taylor Dominic. I don't like when all
- 6:16Speaker 1: the experts tell me it's a bad draft, because no
- 6:18Speaker 1: one has any idea if it's going to be a
- 6:20Speaker 1: bad draft or not. We won't know for five years,
- 6:22Speaker 1: you know, Yeah, I mean I think you're right, but
- 6:25Speaker 1: it's yeah, it's if they say it's a week draft,
- 6:29Speaker 1: that's code for there's no quarterbacks in the draft. And
- 6:33Speaker 1: one of the cool things about having a quarterback less
- 6:36Speaker 1: draft is you get to watch some of the other
- 6:37Speaker 1: positions because in previous years when there's three or four quarterbacks,
- 6:41Speaker 1: you have to watch so much college quarterback tape so
- 6:44Speaker 1: that you can have form informed opinions. And then you
- 6:46Speaker 1: get to the end of the first round and I
- 6:48Speaker 1: don't know the names that they're calling this draft. I
- 6:51Speaker 1: like sixty deep, I know all the quarterbacks. I know
- 6:54Speaker 1: guys that might not go into the third round.
- 6:56Speaker 3: So it's kind of cool, and it's fun to have
- 6:58Speaker 3: guys that you think are like your guys that you're
- 7:00Speaker 3: rooting for, that you kind of found. It's annoying. It's
- 7:03Speaker 3: the old like you were with the band before people
- 7:06Speaker 3: like them things. It's like I been on Jordan Tyson
- 7:09Speaker 3: for a while, and now all of a sudden, everybody
- 7:11Speaker 3: coming around in like Jordan Tyson. You're not allowed to
- 7:14Speaker 3: like Jordan Tyson anymore. You're going to stick over there
- 7:16Speaker 3: with Carnew.
- 7:17Speaker 2: You said it was the best receiver for the last
- 7:19Speaker 2: six months. Yes, this is your draft. I just realized it.
- 7:22Speaker 2: It is. It's your wheelhouse. It's cornerbacks and wide receivers.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Man, we got a couple of good corners in this
- 7:28Speaker 3: particular draft. It's actually gonna be my draft next year.
- 7:31Speaker 3: They're gonna be in DC in my hometown. Well it's
- 7:33Speaker 3: not my hometown, but it's where we live now, so
- 7:36Speaker 3: that'd be pretty cool. But yeah, the corners in this
- 7:38Speaker 3: draft I like a lot. It's a ton of receivers.
- 7:41Speaker 3: I think Jordan Tyson might be the only one that
- 7:43Speaker 3: I think has a chance to be like a real
- 7:46Speaker 3: top tier receiver. The rest of those guys I think
- 7:48Speaker 3: will be really good. What do you love so much
- 7:49Speaker 3: about Tyson? He has kind of the quickness and changing
- 7:54Speaker 3: the direction, short air quickness for a bigger guy. I
- 7:56Speaker 3: think when I'm like evaluating receivers, very quick disability to
- 8:01Speaker 3: kind of get open and create separations. I think is
- 8:03Speaker 3: the thing as a dB that I worried about most.
- 8:06Speaker 3: If you and normally it's like a smaller guy who
- 8:08Speaker 3: can do that, like k C conception on. But Casey conception.
- 8:13Speaker 2: She doesn't have great hands and he's a little bit smaller.
- 8:15Speaker 3: Jordan Tyson has that quickness and it is a bigger
- 8:17Speaker 3: guy construction field.
- 8:19Speaker 2: So it's that ability to separate that I really.
- 8:22Speaker 4: Like, Dominic, where are you at with the Jets decision?
- 8:24Speaker 4: But too? Between David Bailey and r bel Reese.
- 8:27Speaker 7: He just sold me on Jordan Tyson.
- 8:29Speaker 3: I want him, Yeah, I mean seriously, it sounds like
- 8:33Speaker 3: they're gonna lean Bailey, which I don't particularly agree with.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Uh.
- 8:37Speaker 3: We always kind of find these like convenient tropes where
- 8:40Speaker 3: it's like this guy is high ceiling, this guy has
- 8:43Speaker 3: a high floor, and I think we've kind of forced
- 8:45Speaker 3: those two guys into those paradigms where it's not actually true.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Is I think David Bailey is probably more of a
- 8:52Speaker 3: finished product. He's not all that good against the run.
- 8:54Speaker 3: He's a speed rusher who has a real nice spin
- 8:56Speaker 3: move off of it. But and then we project rl
- 8:59Speaker 3: Reefs because he's moving from off ball linebacker to edge
- 9:02Speaker 3: player as someone who could kind of be a bust.
- 9:05Speaker 3: But I don't see it that way. I see him
- 9:07Speaker 3: as a more like complete football player.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Uh.
- 9:11Speaker 3: And yeah, the position change could be a little concerning,
- 9:13Speaker 3: but when you watch him play, he's he kind of
- 9:15Speaker 3: stands out as the strongest and fastest and most athletic
- 9:18Speaker 3: guy on the field when he's out there. So I
- 9:20Speaker 3: like Avo Reesa honestly. So we'll see what direction they go.
- 9:23Speaker 3: But whoever ends up with Reese, I think is gonna
- 9:25Speaker 3: be really happy.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Dominicqu where are you on Mendoza? Like in five years
- 9:29Speaker 1: we're gonna be saying what about Mendoza.
- 9:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I told you I have.
- 9:34Speaker 3: I didn't have a ton of time to put towards
- 9:36Speaker 3: the quarterbacks this year because there was like, there's no conversation.
- 9:39Speaker 3: We know he's going first overall. In watching the games,
- 9:42Speaker 3: he didn't like he had a great championship game. He
- 9:45Speaker 3: didn't particularly seem like he was challenged too much in
- 9:48Speaker 3: the in the that last season with Indiana with Indiana,
- 9:52Speaker 3: So I don't know, to be honest with you, I
- 9:53Speaker 3: can't project it. The question for there's normally kind of
- 9:56Speaker 3: a few tiers of quarterbacks. There's there top three or four,
- 9:59Speaker 3: maybe five quarterbacks that you put them on a team
- 10:02Speaker 3: and the team's automatically good. The rest of the quarterbacks
- 10:05Speaker 3: I think are really situation dependent, and I think Mendoza
- 10:08Speaker 3: is gonna be one of those guys who could turn
- 10:10Speaker 3: out to have a great career if he lands in
- 10:12Speaker 3: the right situation.
- 10:13Speaker 9: I'm not sure who Stu Goatz just pointed at Dominique
- 10:15Speaker 9: because we're all in different boxes and their respective zooms.
- 10:18Speaker 2: But I'm gonna go ahead, and it was the easy point.
- 10:20Speaker 2: It was the easy point. Do you mind if I
- 10:22Speaker 2: get off of the draft for a second, please? Okay?
- 10:25Speaker 9: We had a segment the other day on the radio
- 10:27Speaker 9: where we asked Ai Colin Cowherd for the mount rushmore
- 10:33Speaker 9: of Maryland athletes. Yes, And so I started thinking, I
- 10:37Speaker 9: was like, well, nobody's really mentioning Dominique Foxworth. Ai Colin
- 10:40Speaker 9: Cowherd mentioned some field hockey player that I've also and
- 10:44Speaker 9: so I was wondering if we could like start a
- 10:47Speaker 9: beef between you and Ai Colin Cowhard Taylor. Do you
- 10:51Speaker 9: let me know if this is possible, because I feel
- 10:53Speaker 9: like this has a lot of legs to.
- 10:54Speaker 2: It, So Coward, yes? Is that what I just wanted
- 10:58Speaker 2: to fire back and calling?
- 11:00Speaker 9: And then I want to see if we ask Ai
- 11:02Speaker 9: Colin Cowherd, Hey, there's a media beef this guy named
- 11:04Speaker 9: Dominque Fox where it said this about your opinion and
- 11:07Speaker 9: see what he says and see if we can create
- 11:08Speaker 9: something there you versus Ai.
- 11:11Speaker 2: I'm happy to do it.
- 11:12Speaker 3: But the problem there is my insults of a Colin
- 11:18Speaker 3: Cowherd would actually just be insults of Colin Cowherd.
- 11:22Speaker 2: Is some sort of real real media. Yeah, I got
- 11:26Speaker 2: a problem with with Colin. He's fine with me. I
- 11:30Speaker 2: was that's issue issue. No, we would be making it
- 11:36Speaker 2: very clear, it's not a real call and it's Ai coling.
- 11:38Speaker 2: This is beef is with real calling. Can just sit
- 11:40Speaker 2: it out and then.
- 11:42Speaker 3: And uh so, then I would be insulting AI, which,
- 11:45Speaker 3: like I've been reading, apparently they got some new Ais
- 11:47Speaker 3: that can crack everything and turn your life upside down.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I think Ai is great. I love field hockey and you,
- 11:56Speaker 2: of course oh so much.
- 11:59Speaker 7: Regular Yes, yes, listen, Dominique's in the herd.
- 12:03Speaker 5: I mean.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I've seen him in there before. It's weird. I love
- 12:09Speaker 2: it in the herd. We can get back to the
- 12:11Speaker 2: NFL draft. Does he have a question for him?
- 12:14Speaker 11: That was it?
- 12:16Speaker 2: Do you want me to be with Ai? This smoke?
- 12:19Speaker 2: Was my question? What did you make of the Giants?
- 12:24Speaker 1: I said the other day on Fox Sports Radio that
- 12:27Speaker 1: the Bengals are going to win the Super Bowl, and
- 12:28Speaker 1: they put it everywhere. Okay, now Cincinnati, lovest me. We
- 12:31Speaker 1: get twenty shares in Cincinnati. It's fantastic. But what do
- 12:34Speaker 1: you make of that textra orage trade from the Giants
- 12:37Speaker 1: to the Bengals.
- 12:40Speaker 2: I mean, I like the trade for both sides. I
- 12:42Speaker 2: think you could the argument. I don't know. I get
- 12:45Speaker 2: a little bit frustrated sometimes with.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Our like us analysts and how we like critique a
- 12:53Speaker 3: lot of the moves in that they are as if
- 12:58Speaker 3: the general managers in the teams are just idiots. Like
- 13:01Speaker 3: I don't argue that they haven't made dumb decisions, but
- 13:04Speaker 3: there's sometime a belief that, like, we know better, and
- 13:08Speaker 3: they're not aware of the trade offs that they're making.
- 13:10Speaker 2: So I say to to say that they know that.
- 13:15Speaker 3: The tenth overall pick for Dexter Lawrence is probably a
- 13:18Speaker 3: slight overpay, but they also know that they're in a
- 13:20Speaker 3: position right now where they don't really have much time
- 13:22Speaker 3: and they're making a run and their defense was terrible,
- 13:25Speaker 3: so they need to revamp their defensive line. So I
- 13:28Speaker 3: get people saying that they probably could have gotten or
- 13:31Speaker 3: they shouldn't have given away a tenth pick for Dexter Lawrence.
- 13:34Speaker 3: But also get that whoever they were going to get
- 13:37Speaker 3: at ten is not going to be as impactful as
- 13:38Speaker 3: Dexter Lawrence at a position that plays really well for
- 13:42Speaker 3: really long like this isn't running back like d Tackles
- 13:45Speaker 3: can play late into their career and have a big impact.
- 13:49Speaker 3: So I think they're trying to make a run right now,
- 13:51Speaker 3: and they don't have a choice any They don't have
- 13:53Speaker 3: a choice otherwise, So I'm fine with the trade. And
- 13:56Speaker 3: for the Giants, of course, it makes sense getting a
- 13:58Speaker 3: tenth overall pick for a team that has a young quarterback.
- 14:00Speaker 2: They're trying to build up and make this run.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Also, Dominie got on the flip side of that.
- 14:04Speaker 5: When it comes to the Giants with picks five and
- 14:06Speaker 5: ten tonight, what do you think is the ideal scenario
- 14:09Speaker 5: for them?
- 14:10Speaker 3: Yeah, I think there's a chance that Jeremiah Love slides
- 14:14Speaker 3: to five. Then I think the Giants will have a
- 14:17Speaker 3: tough decision if he's off the board already, someone else
- 14:20Speaker 3: took the risk of taking a running back high, I
- 14:22Speaker 3: think things get a lot easier. But if he slides
- 14:24Speaker 3: there that it kind of feels like a move that
- 14:26Speaker 3: you can't pass up on, which would be funny given
- 14:29Speaker 3: that the Giants were one of the teams that kind
- 14:32Speaker 3: of made it clear that you shouldn't draft, excuse me,
- 14:34Speaker 3: a running back and early in the first round with
- 14:36Speaker 3: save on Barkley. You wait until you have a team
- 14:39Speaker 3: that's prepared for him, like the Eagles did, then you
- 14:41Speaker 3: go and acquire them and go for two thousand yards
- 14:44Speaker 3: and win a super Bowl. But I think they they
- 14:46Speaker 3: do that. And then Caleb Downs is another player who's
- 14:50Speaker 3: really good, the saved from Ohio State, who's in a
- 14:53Speaker 3: who's another like not high value position, which means that
- 14:56Speaker 3: he could slide a little bit to ten and impact
- 15:01Speaker 3: that defense. And you think about the Harbaugh defense with
- 15:05Speaker 3: a history of great safeties that he's had.
- 15:07Speaker 2: So yeah, I think that works.
- 15:08Speaker 3: The other question is if Sunny Styles is still around
- 15:11Speaker 3: at number five, I think that's a move that you
- 15:13Speaker 3: can't pass up on. So, because this draft feels a
- 15:16Speaker 3: little bit like confusing with those particular players, I'm not
- 15:19Speaker 3: sure who's going to be available at five, but if
- 15:22Speaker 3: it's Styles, one of them will be a very the
- 15:24Speaker 3: decision will be made for him. I think between Reese's
- 15:27Speaker 3: styles and Love, one of those guys will be there.
- 15:32Speaker 2: And that's what the Giant should take. You know John
- 15:34Speaker 2: Harbaugh very well.
- 15:35Speaker 1: So they have the fifth and the tenth pick in
- 15:37Speaker 1: the NFL draft. Like, what positions are important? How does
- 15:40Speaker 1: he build a roster? What's important to him in terms
- 15:42Speaker 1: of positions to build a roster?
- 15:44Speaker 2: I mean I think the Harbaugh's in general are.
- 15:47Speaker 3: Like classic all school football, tough guys, trench guys, run
- 15:52Speaker 3: the ball. So that's the direction I would expect them
- 15:54Speaker 3: to go with. However, the tough thing about projecting what
- 15:57Speaker 3: you think John Hartwood decisions.
- 15:59Speaker 2: John Harball would make it.
- 16:00Speaker 3: He came from the Ravens where they've had Auzzie Newsom
- 16:03Speaker 3: and Eric Tacsta. It's like they have run a really
- 16:07Speaker 3: good like roster management and they made a ton of decisions.
- 16:11Speaker 3: So like, it's hard to be able to project what
- 16:14Speaker 3: you think John Harbaugh is into because it's a Hall
- 16:18Speaker 3: of famer running the show down there.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it's gonna be interesting, it is. Are you big
- 16:24Speaker 1: on Love? Do you think he's the best player in
- 16:25Speaker 1: the draft. Yeah, I mean it's exciting.
- 16:28Speaker 3: I think the thing that we're missing out on is
- 16:30Speaker 3: like I mentioned, I get a little frustrated when we
- 16:32Speaker 3: have the analysts who kind of have this group thing
- 16:35Speaker 3: or like.
- 16:35Speaker 2: You can't do this here. They have these absolute small
- 16:38Speaker 2: You never draft a guy here, you never know that.
- 16:40Speaker 3: So, like I think the special thing about Jeremiah Love
- 16:43Speaker 3: is his explosive playability, and that again compares to Saquon
- 16:48Speaker 3: where I understand, if you're running back gets you five yards,
- 16:51Speaker 3: that's great, but if he's capable of getting you thirty
- 16:53Speaker 3: thirty five, it's just a really explosive play that is
- 16:56Speaker 3: also low risk, and I think that changes the math
- 16:58Speaker 3: in football. So it takes a lot to if you
- 17:01Speaker 3: want to gain thirty forty yards, you're gonna have to
- 17:04Speaker 3: throw the ball, and that's like a high risk maneuver
- 17:07Speaker 3: that doesn't work out if you have an opportunity to
- 17:09Speaker 3: hand it to someone and if things go wrong, you
- 17:11Speaker 3: end up with four yards and you're looking at second
- 17:14Speaker 3: and six, but you're still giving yourself a chance for
- 17:17Speaker 3: this big thirty yard game. Like it just changes the
- 17:20Speaker 3: dynamics on an offense, which I think would help a lot,
- 17:22Speaker 3: particularly for your young quarterback.
- 17:24Speaker 5: Dominie the contender best position. I think to move into
- 17:27Speaker 5: the draft to make sure they get the guy that
- 17:29Speaker 5: they want the Chiefs at nine. If you're the Chiefs,
- 17:32Speaker 5: how are you approaching this draft?
- 17:34Speaker 2: I think it's interesting that you consider them a contender like.
- 17:37Speaker 3: That, Wowrick, you not well, hold on, you don't not
- 17:42Speaker 3: really honestly, like, given how they struggled last year with
- 17:47Speaker 3: a healthy Mahomes and now Patrick Mahomes is not healthy
- 17:52Speaker 3: and if you actually, like take Mahomes off of that
- 17:54Speaker 3: roster and you look at that roster, it's one of
- 17:56Speaker 3: the weaker ones in football, like a is. Of course,
- 17:58Speaker 3: they'll be good if he's healthy and back to normal.
- 18:01Speaker 3: Eventually they'll be like competitive, But they weren't contenders last year.
- 18:05Speaker 3: They were going to miss the playoffs last year without
- 18:08Speaker 3: Patrick Mahomes and the key players on that team. They
- 18:11Speaker 3: lost both of their corners. Chris Jones is getting up
- 18:15Speaker 3: there in age, Travis Kelson is getting up there in
- 18:17Speaker 3: age where she Rice it stays in trouble like it
- 18:20Speaker 3: doesn't feel like Simmons. They're really great. Young tackle was
- 18:24Speaker 3: off the team for a large portion of the year
- 18:26Speaker 3: for reasons that no one really knows. He had an
- 18:28Speaker 3: injury before that, like, this roster doesn't look all that good.
- 18:31Speaker 3: They went and got Kenneth Walker to run the ball,
- 18:34Speaker 3: so that's promising, but it just doesn't feel like they're
- 18:38Speaker 3: a real contender just yet.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Of course, they might make me feel dumb.
- 18:42Speaker 3: I thought when they traded Tyreek Hill that that they
- 18:44Speaker 3: were going to bottom out and come back.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Then they mess around and win and won the Super Bowl,
- 18:49Speaker 2: so who knows.
- 18:49Speaker 9: But I was just about to say, make sure you
- 18:51Speaker 9: mark that Taylor put this in the list of terrible
- 18:54Speaker 9: chiefs takes when it's terribly wrong.
- 18:56Speaker 1: But I don't think you get out to mine, which
- 18:58Speaker 1: is Alex Smith should still be started quarterback in Kansas City.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Yes, it might make it up. Did you just give
- 19:04Speaker 2: me a chef's kiss? Yeah, that's magnificent. You can't you can't.
- 19:08Speaker 2: I can't beat that take O good. It was perfect.
- 19:13Speaker 2: It's because it was so like, how dare you the disrespect?
- 19:18Speaker 2: He's won so many games for you? Oh that was there.
- 19:26Speaker 3: Watching practice and Patrick Mahomes is doing magic. They're like,
- 19:29Speaker 3: we can't wait to get this guy out there.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:32Speaker 9: I was gonna say, they said, what's the roster without
- 19:34Speaker 9: Patrick Mahomes? Okay, now close your eyes. Imagine that roster
- 19:37Speaker 9: with Patrick Mahomes possible.
- 19:40Speaker 1: I think for dominate, just the idea of a man
- 19:42Speaker 1: sitting in Miami who's never seen Patrick Mahomes watch it Andy.
- 19:46Speaker 10: Reid's decision making astoric quarterback.
- 19:50Speaker 2: They were thirty to three, right take, not with you,
- 19:53Speaker 2: It's a reasonable take. That's what made it so good.
- 19:55Speaker 2: They were thirty to three, like Alex Smithon did so well.
- 20:00Speaker 2: I'm with you. I could feel Steve Gatts waiting for
- 20:02Speaker 2: me to ask a draft question and I can't do it. Man,
- 20:05Speaker 2: I am in awe sitting here.
- 20:06Speaker 9: I've never seen you guys have this consecutive minutes of
- 20:10Speaker 9: serious conversation with Dominique just firing away with draft questions.
- 20:13Speaker 2: I'm like, well, you know Dominique expected this.
- 20:15Speaker 1: You missed the first few minutes where I mean, you know,
- 20:17Speaker 1: Taylor's birthday and all that.
- 20:19Speaker 9: Sol didn't know we were starting early.
- 20:25Speaker 2: Neither did Dominique.
- 20:26Speaker 4: He was in his underwear when we started.
- 20:30Speaker 6: Yeah, you should have shown up. I'm good, good daring,
- 20:38Speaker 6: I'm good to start any weird internet story.
- 20:44Speaker 2: You just want people call him Tower?
- 20:48Speaker 8: You know what?
- 20:52Speaker 2: That's ay?
- 20:53Speaker 1: Dominique was the draft when you were when you were
- 20:56Speaker 1: being drafted. Were the days leading up to it's stressful?
- 20:59Speaker 2: Were they?
- 21:00Speaker 4: Like?
- 21:00Speaker 2: What kind of days were they for you? Nah?
- 21:02Speaker 3: I mean it wasn't stressful. I think the the that
- 21:05Speaker 3: was back man, I'm old where the draft was on Saturday. Yeah,
- 21:10Speaker 3: and they have rounds one through three on Saturday and
- 21:13Speaker 3: then three through six on Sunday.
- 21:15Speaker 2: I know you guys don't remember that because you guys young.
- 21:19Speaker 5: Cool.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Yes, is he is older than you. I do remember it.
- 21:22Speaker 2: I'm older than all of you.
- 21:23Speaker 3: But yeah, but yeah, so it wasn't particularly stressful to
- 21:27Speaker 3: day the draft was a little bit stressful. The funny
- 21:30Speaker 3: thing is it's not you know, the big relief in
- 21:33Speaker 3: like celebratory moment that everyone feels fast for first rounders,
- 21:37Speaker 3: for third rounders. It's like, all right, well we gotta
- 21:40Speaker 3: go to work. I gotta I gotta get a job
- 21:44Speaker 3: to go see if I can't go earn this job.
- 21:45Speaker 3: It wasn't as like fool as you would think. And
- 21:48Speaker 3: then you signed the contract, which is nice, but you
- 21:51Speaker 3: also are like, hey, this isn't the life changing money
- 21:54Speaker 3: that I had dreamed of and anticipated, so like, let's
- 21:57Speaker 3: get to.
- 21:57Speaker 2: The next deal.
- 21:58Speaker 3: So it becomes a little bit less of a celebration
- 22:01Speaker 3: and a lot more of it. Like, all right, this
- 22:03Speaker 3: is like like you're graduated from high school. You know
- 22:06Speaker 3: it was expected to happen. Everyone around you is really
- 22:09Speaker 3: happy and proud of you. It's it's kind of cool,
- 22:12Speaker 3: but it's also like, yeah, now I gotta go to
- 22:14Speaker 3: college and go figure this out.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Your folks expected you to graduate high school. Okay, how
- 22:23Speaker 2: the big prize? I mean, is he why you ask
- 22:25Speaker 2: him an NBA question or something? Go ahead where we
- 22:27Speaker 2: want to go? Yeah, excited you got off the court.
- 22:30Speaker 2: I'm ready.
- 22:31Speaker 9: I mean, Dominique doesn't have any more insight into Wemby's
- 22:34Speaker 9: face spouncing off the court. So I'll just ask you, uh, Thunder,
- 22:38Speaker 9: are you interested or do you want them knock the
- 22:40Speaker 9: hell out?
- 22:40Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, I mean I.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Want them see you're gonna not You're not gonna like
- 22:46Speaker 3: this response. I would like Wimby and the Spurs to
- 22:52Speaker 3: lose to the Thunder and the conference championship, and the
- 22:56Speaker 3: Thunder go on to win the championship so that next
- 23:00Speaker 3: we can have Wimby make the big.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Run like it's the yeah team, as Taylor says, leads
- 23:07Speaker 2: the league in ZZZ plus Yes, you have the Thunder
- 23:12Speaker 2: to match up with Victor Viyaba who else?
- 23:15Speaker 3: I mean, I think that from a storyline standpoint, there
- 23:19Speaker 3: is nothing better than to have this big Goliath that
- 23:22Speaker 3: has won back to back championship, seems unbeatable and has
- 23:27Speaker 3: a player in Sga who is a little annoying with
- 23:30Speaker 3: the foul the foul baiting, and it is also incredibly talented.
- 23:35Speaker 3: Maybe went back to back MVPs. What better mountain for
- 23:39Speaker 3: the giant Frenchman to have to climb next year?
- 23:42Speaker 2: I see.
- 23:43Speaker 3: I think from a storyline standpoint, Wimby having incredible playoffs,
- 23:47Speaker 3: being this isolated kind of superstar with a good team
- 23:50Speaker 3: around him, taking the Thunder to Game seven and coming
- 23:54Speaker 3: up short, and then having next year be all about
- 23:57Speaker 3: Wemby trying to take down the Thunder.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Like that to me is I don't know.
- 24:01Speaker 3: Those are the storylines that I'm accustomed to. From Jordan
- 24:04Speaker 3: to Lebron Jordan, Yes, yes.
- 24:07Speaker 2: Yeah, that's exactly what it is. I like that.
- 24:09Speaker 9: I just want to replace Shaye with Nicole Kic and
- 24:12Speaker 9: make it a Goliath versus Goliath and then see what happens.
- 24:18Speaker 3: But yeah, they that that particular team doesn't feel as
- 24:22Speaker 3: I guess himself is a Goliath, but that team doesn't
- 24:25Speaker 3: feel nearly as close to Goliath as the thunder do
- 24:29Speaker 3: at this point.
- 24:30Speaker 2: But we yeah, they got Why what's wrong with basketball
- 24:35Speaker 2: on the East? When's the last time the East was good?
- 24:37Speaker 2: Like it's it was like Lebron, Lebron and Wade.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, but I mean wasn't good. Celtics just won
- 24:45Speaker 1: a title. I mean they did a couple of years
- 24:47Speaker 1: ago again again, but.
- 24:48Speaker 2: The East still wasn't good.
- 24:51Speaker 3: I know that we've had We've had good teams in
- 24:53Speaker 3: the East, yeah, like the the but the East has
- 24:56Speaker 3: it feels like I can't it's the Bulls the last time,
- 24:58Speaker 3: I b I don't know.
- 25:00Speaker 2: East wasn't even good.
- 25:01Speaker 3: When the Bulls were goods felt like a big deal.
- 25:05Speaker 3: Like I don't remember the East ever being as good
- 25:08Speaker 3: as the West has been, and it's.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Been that way for ages. I just I don't get it.
- 25:15Speaker 2: He didn't be caring for the Eastern Conference.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Yeah, Taylor tried to bait me into a Lebron Michael
- 25:20Speaker 1: a conversation yesterday and he did. He was successful, And
- 25:22Speaker 1: I responded to him that Lebron is the best number
- 25:25Speaker 1: two or number three I've ever seen you agree, right,
- 25:27Speaker 1: I mean he is, he's better than Pippin.
- 25:30Speaker 2: He was number two to Wade, he's number three to
- 25:33Speaker 2: read and I mean.
- 25:36Speaker 3: Well, I mean technically he's not now they're not even playing,
- 25:39Speaker 3: but uh and I guess he was number two to
- 25:43Speaker 3: Wade that first year.
- 25:44Speaker 2: But yes, pretty clearly that after that, I mean hit
- 25:48Speaker 2: the big shot. I mean, gosh, yeah.
- 25:55Speaker 3: Okay, I'm with you, another one of your another one
- 25:59Speaker 3: of your masterful takes.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Yes, do you want the Knicks anywhere near the NBA
- 26:03Speaker 1: Finals when you want them out now?
- 26:04Speaker 2: No? I want the Knicks. Yeah. I like the Knicks.
- 26:07Speaker 2: The Knicks are a fun team. I think it's.
- 26:10Speaker 3: When you're not like in it, in it like uh
- 26:13Speaker 3: and you're kinda it's really nice to have these teams
- 26:16Speaker 3: that you know, you know, like if you because I
- 26:19Speaker 3: think you have stronger opinions about the Thunder than I do.
- 26:22Speaker 3: Like I'm not gonna be upset if the Thunder happened
- 26:24Speaker 3: to win. But for the Knicks, it's like, these are
- 26:28Speaker 3: teams that we know that's the best thing. Where it's
- 26:29Speaker 3: the thing that we lost. I think in college sports
- 26:31Speaker 3: or college basketball in particular, where it's like.
- 26:33Speaker 2: I don't know these motherfuckers. It's just a new crop
- 26:38Speaker 2: of guys.
- 26:38Speaker 3: So like seeing this same group of Cat and Brunson
- 26:42Speaker 3: keep coming like that, to me is fun and interesting
- 26:45Speaker 3: to see how they adjust to get rid of the coach.
- 26:47Speaker 3: They're bringing a new one. See if that's enough to
- 26:49Speaker 3: get it done. But yeah, I don't want the Knicks out.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Dominique. Check them out the Dominique's Fox Fox Worst Show.
- 26:54Speaker 1: Wherever you get your podcast. He's on YouTube, He's everywhere.
- 26:57Speaker 1: He'll be all over ESPN all weekend long. Can't wait
- 27:00Speaker 1: for the draft to be over. Thanks guys, we love you, buddy,
- 27:06Speaker 1: thank you.
- 27:17Speaker 2: I love this man.
- 27:18Speaker 1: His name is Cam Hayward. He's with the Steelers. He's
- 27:21Speaker 1: been doing this for a long time. I would just
- 27:22Speaker 1: making fun of him, like, hey, Ca, when are you
- 27:24Speaker 1: gonna stop doing this?
- 27:25Speaker 2: Man? Seriously, I don't know. I'm having fun.
- 27:31Speaker 1: You're you're in Pittsburgh. Of course you play there. The
- 27:34Speaker 1: draft is there starting tomorrow. What are you doing with
- 27:37Speaker 1: us AI?
- 27:38Speaker 2: Cam? Tell the audience here, Well, I'm partner up.
- 27:41Speaker 8: With the USA folks. We're actually hosting an event for
- 27:45Speaker 8: one hundred military service members. Service military member, I don't
- 27:50Speaker 8: want to why say that, But we are getting a
- 27:52Speaker 8: chance to have a chalk talk and just show our
- 27:56Speaker 8: appreciation and you know, our thankfulness for the work they do.
- 28:01Speaker 8: They're all from Pittsburgh, so you know, hand in hand.
- 28:04Speaker 9: You know, it's a great event when it comes to
- 28:06Speaker 9: Jingles us AA. It's so simple, it's so great. I
- 28:10Speaker 9: can never get it out of my head. I say
- 28:11Speaker 9: it all the time.
- 28:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I should just start my.
- 28:17Speaker 8: Yes.
- 28:18Speaker 2: My key talking points.
- 28:20Speaker 8: Was that.
- 28:22Speaker 2: You really should.
- 28:24Speaker 1: I have to start the most obvious place as it
- 28:26Speaker 1: relates to the Steelers, Aaron Rodgers.
- 28:28Speaker 2: What the hell can I mean? He's working on a tan.
- 28:36Speaker 2: You can't just be in the cave and not have
- 28:38Speaker 2: a tan. So we got to do both. Yes.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Are you expecting him to be the quarterback for the
- 28:42Speaker 1: Steelers this season?
- 28:45Speaker 8: My expectations, yes, but his expectations I don't know what are.
- 28:50Speaker 2: You know.
- 28:50Speaker 8: I'm very thankful that I got a chance to play
- 28:52Speaker 8: with him. And I've seen what like a Hall of
- 28:57Speaker 8: Fame quarterback looks at that age, and I'm like, man,
- 29:01Speaker 8: that dude could play till he's fifty. But you know,
- 29:04Speaker 8: I think it's about if he wants to play and
- 29:07Speaker 8: you know, you got to respect that decision. Hopefully we
- 29:09Speaker 8: put him in a situation where you know, he feels
- 29:12Speaker 8: like we're very insulated and he's the missing piece.
- 29:16Speaker 9: I mean, speaking of playing un till you're fifty, But
- 29:20Speaker 9: since you've been in here for been in the league
- 29:22Speaker 9: for so long, are there any situations that you've had
- 29:24Speaker 9: that compares anything close to this?
- 29:26Speaker 2: How does this affect your preparation? If at all.
- 29:32Speaker 8: It has affected mind preparation. I feel like every man's
- 29:35Speaker 8: got to walk his own journey when it comes to
- 29:37Speaker 8: this game. You can never you know, expect or you know,
- 29:42Speaker 8: put all your eggs in the basket for one guy.
- 29:45Speaker 8: But you know, I think we understand that we had
- 29:48Speaker 8: a lot of fun last year having Aaron as our quarterback,
- 29:51Speaker 8: and he's just been a big team guy. I don't
- 29:53Speaker 8: think he gets enough credit of just wanting to be
- 29:57Speaker 8: a part of something and want to be a part
- 29:59Speaker 8: of the guy. And so he was, you know, at
- 30:03Speaker 8: the forefront, pushing me towards having a Halloween party or
- 30:06Speaker 8: a Christmas party, just because you want that camaraderie. And
- 30:11Speaker 8: so as we move forward, you know, I want a
- 30:14Speaker 8: quarterback like him that you know, wants to bring somebody
- 30:18Speaker 8: bring the group together.
- 30:19Speaker 2: Did you do the Halloway her Christmas party? We did
- 30:22Speaker 2: both there.
- 30:24Speaker 8: I don't like to show him because there were some
- 30:27Speaker 8: wild costumes.
- 30:28Speaker 2: I'll say that, what was your costume? Cam?
- 30:31Speaker 8: Oh?
- 30:31Speaker 2: What was my costume? I was a ghostbuster?
- 30:36Speaker 3: You know what?
- 30:37Speaker 8: Aaron's costume was me at training camp because he said
- 30:42Speaker 8: I was holding out, so he had some fun with it.
- 30:46Speaker 2: That is so good.
- 30:47Speaker 7: Were you surprised that Mike Tomlin decided to walk away from.
- 30:50Speaker 2: The Pittsburgh Steelers. I was very surprised. Really, I was
- 30:54Speaker 2: not expecting that.
- 30:56Speaker 8: Every realized to think I would have had an inkling
- 30:59Speaker 8: that that was going to have and I was, you know,
- 31:02Speaker 8: in shock for a while after it happened. But it's
- 31:06Speaker 8: a decision he had to make for him and his family.
- 31:09Speaker 8: You know that he was very fortunate, and he's told
- 31:11Speaker 8: us that to spend that much time in one spot
- 31:14Speaker 8: is you know, very special and unheard of. But man,
- 31:20Speaker 8: he's going to kill at the next level. He gets
- 31:22Speaker 8: to be in front of a camera. He's going to
- 31:24Speaker 8: have makeup on every day, which I'm going to give
- 31:26Speaker 8: him hell forward, So you know it's gonna be fun.
- 31:29Speaker 2: Time You think he's going to be great at that, right,
- 31:32Speaker 2: He's going to kill it because he knows how to
- 31:35Speaker 2: break down the game.
- 31:37Speaker 3: Uh.
- 31:37Speaker 8: And you saw this in Hard Knocks. His team meetings
- 31:40Speaker 8: were just so intentional and it made sure everybody understood
- 31:46Speaker 8: what they were talking about. And when you watch him
- 31:48Speaker 8: on if you see if you're going to see him
- 31:50Speaker 8: on TV going forward, he's going to have so much
- 31:53Speaker 8: fun with us. I was talking to the other day,
- 31:55Speaker 8: just congratulating on his new job, and you know, he
- 31:58Speaker 8: was telling me, I'm already studying John Madden, and like,
- 32:01Speaker 8: you know, I'm like, you don't even have to even
- 32:03Speaker 8: look at John Madden. You're already prepare for this job.
- 32:06Speaker 8: But he likes to prepare himself and he's going to
- 32:09Speaker 8: do a great job of that.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Yes.
- 32:10Speaker 7: Did he show up to the Halloween party?
- 32:13Speaker 2: No?
- 32:14Speaker 8: No, I wish I got him so up. If we
- 32:16Speaker 8: got Mike tears so don't, we would have closed down
- 32:18Speaker 8: the bar. That would have been an all time great night.
- 32:21Speaker 2: Did anybody dress as Mike Tomlin? No, nobody dressed as
- 32:25Speaker 2: Mike Tomlin. We get enough of that during our rookie show.
- 32:28Speaker 2: That's a good point.
- 32:29Speaker 9: So I know everybody has their own leadership ways, and
- 32:31Speaker 9: there's no like obviously cookie cutter way to coach an
- 32:34Speaker 9: NFL team. But when you look at the next head
- 32:36Speaker 9: coach and you say to yourself, what is what is
- 32:39Speaker 9: Mike Tomlin? The things that Mike Tomlin has done? What
- 32:43Speaker 9: is this guy going to do to replace that?
- 32:45Speaker 2: What is the one thing?
- 32:45Speaker 9: You're just like, Man, I hope this guy can do
- 32:48Speaker 9: what Mike did as a coach, whether it be just
- 32:51Speaker 9: explaining the game like you said, or whether.
- 32:53Speaker 2: It be just little details of preparation.
- 32:55Speaker 9: What do you think this next coach better have or
- 32:57Speaker 9: obviously it's Mike McCarthy better have when he's replacing Mike Tomlin.
- 33:01Speaker 2: Well, I think it's just to get the most out
- 33:03Speaker 2: of the group.
- 33:04Speaker 8: You know, at this point in my stage, there's no
- 33:07Speaker 8: point of trying to be a college coach, is no
- 33:09Speaker 8: point of trying to have a raw ra speech. We
- 33:12Speaker 8: just got to get the job done. You know, both
- 33:16Speaker 8: of these last coaches have won Super Bowls, and it's
- 33:21Speaker 8: my job to try to reach the top. And you know,
- 33:24Speaker 8: I think this is something that you know, we're all
- 33:27Speaker 8: very concerned with. We just want to win. We want
- 33:31Speaker 8: to go ahead and reach that mountain top and be.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Proud of it. Cam Heyward with us on behalf of
- 33:35Speaker 2: us a A. We'll get to that again in just
- 33:38Speaker 2: a second here.
- 33:39Speaker 1: But Cam, I am wondering the quarterback that you haven't
- 33:41Speaker 1: sacked that you wish you had sacked, oh.
- 33:45Speaker 8: Man, And I'm kind of pissed because it would have
- 33:48Speaker 8: been another one onto my on my list, Caleb Williams,
- 33:53Speaker 8: you know, because I've sacked every Heisman winner in my time,
- 33:59Speaker 8: but Caleblliams and so that's the only one mess up.
- 34:03Speaker 8: And now I got to get Mendoza as well too.
- 34:06Speaker 7: So and Caleb, those are the last two and then
- 34:09Speaker 7: maybe you'll retire.
- 34:11Speaker 2: It's like like Thanos when he's getting his Uh, you
- 34:15Speaker 2: just want to elect them.
- 34:16Speaker 9: And Cam, I have an Ohio State question specifically, Uh,
- 34:22Speaker 9: Actually I just lost my trade of thought.
- 34:24Speaker 1: It was Ryan Day, Ryan Day saying that if you
- 34:26Speaker 1: want to come to Ohio State you need to be
- 34:28Speaker 1: a first round pick.
- 34:29Speaker 2: What did you make? That's what it was?
- 34:31Speaker 4: Yes?
- 34:31Speaker 2: Yes, well was he though? No, No, they have likes.
- 34:39Speaker 8: But like I think the mindset you want to have
- 34:43Speaker 8: is we are going to put really good players into
- 34:46Speaker 8: the league first, second, third, fourth. But doesn't matter where
- 34:50Speaker 8: get drafted. You were going to remember these players, and
- 34:54Speaker 8: you know, I respect him for that. You know, you're
- 34:56Speaker 8: creating a culture where you're getting the best out of
- 34:59Speaker 8: your group, and coach Day is doing that, and so
- 35:03Speaker 8: will Howard Jack Sawyer might not have been first round picks,
- 35:07Speaker 8: but they're they're gonna thrive to the next level.
- 35:09Speaker 9: Cam, let me explain where my thought process was going,
- 35:11Speaker 9: because I was going to ask the Ryan Day question, right,
- 35:14Speaker 9: but I confused it with the take. And I don't
- 35:16Speaker 9: know if you've heard this, but it's the Oregon new
- 35:18Speaker 9: quarterbacks coach who the way he assesses people his quarterbacks,
- 35:22Speaker 9: he asked them if they like chocolate ice cream or
- 35:25Speaker 9: vanilla ice cream, and if the player hesitates at all
- 35:28Speaker 9: in his answer, he doesn't want him on his team.
- 35:30Speaker 9: And that's where I confuse that with the Ryan Day
- 35:32Speaker 9: quote and totally different.
- 35:33Speaker 2: But what do you think about that? As a quarterbacks coach?
- 35:37Speaker 2: I want to know which flavor he likes? Really? Do
- 35:44Speaker 2: it quicker?
- 35:45Speaker 8: Yes?
- 35:46Speaker 2: Do you like the strawberry? Huh? We've had debates on that.
- 35:50Speaker 8: No, I don't really like strawberry. I was just messing around. Yeah,
- 35:53Speaker 8: I'll find that answer, and like, why not just ask
- 35:57Speaker 8: heads or tails? At that point, we had to be
- 36:01Speaker 8: so creative with these questions. We're going to ice crim flavors.
- 36:05Speaker 2: Cam, you could never play quarterback for Oregon. I'm just
- 36:07Speaker 2: like you right now, I'm fine. I'm want to know
- 36:10Speaker 2: versus Oregon too.
- 36:11Speaker 1: Okay, he remembers everything. Cam, What was it like for you,
- 36:15Speaker 1: Like the days leading up to the NFL Draft? You
- 36:18Speaker 1: were selected in the first round, last pick. I think
- 36:20Speaker 1: in the first round you should have went higher.
- 36:22Speaker 2: What was it like?
- 36:22Speaker 1: Was it stressful? What was it like for you the
- 36:24Speaker 1: days leading up to the NFL Draft.
- 36:27Speaker 8: I was struggling a lot. So my sugar my last
- 36:33Speaker 8: game was a Sugar Bowl versus Arkansas. I had torn
- 36:37Speaker 8: my elbow, torn it up, tore my UCL you know,
- 36:42Speaker 8: I had to get Tommy John surgery, right what d
- 36:44Speaker 8: Lineman gets Tommy John. You know, I didn't get to
- 36:50Speaker 8: do any of the combine and so I'm entering these meetings.
- 36:53Speaker 8: I actually went to the Senior Bowl and I'm wearing
- 36:56Speaker 8: like a college shirt, just talking the coaches. Meanwhile, like
- 37:00Speaker 8: I'm bleeding out of my T shirt. I'm bringing out
- 37:02Speaker 8: my shirt at the time, and so a lot of
- 37:05Speaker 8: stress because I felt like I didn't get to be
- 37:08Speaker 8: a part of the process. I was kind of just
- 37:10Speaker 8: on the outskirts of it. PRO day was huge for me,
- 37:13Speaker 8: and then leading to the draft night, I was like,
- 37:16Speaker 8: I do not want to be Brady Quinn in the
- 37:18Speaker 8: green room stuff there, and so I was like, I'm
- 37:22Speaker 8: going to stay at home, enjoy this with my family.
- 37:24Speaker 2: We'll see what happens. But the night was very stressful.
- 37:28Speaker 8: I'll say that, you know, my friends are texting me
- 37:32Speaker 8: during the draft and they're like, Hey, do you want
- 37:33Speaker 8: to catch a movie? And I'm like, dude, I do
- 37:36Speaker 8: not want to talk to anybody until I get drafted,
- 37:38Speaker 8: right now. Leave me alone. And so when I saw
- 37:41Speaker 8: four one two pop up across the screen, I knew
- 37:44Speaker 8: I was, you know, receiving a call from Pittsburgh and
- 37:47Speaker 8: I was gonna have a.
- 37:48Speaker 2: Chance to come home. Cam were the stitches coming out
- 37:51Speaker 2: from your surgery or something? What was the blood because
- 37:54Speaker 2: I don't think they're supposed to be blood there.
- 37:56Speaker 8: And I just recently threw away that shirt because I
- 37:59Speaker 8: was like, it's one of those moments that you remember,
- 38:02Speaker 8: and I was like, yeah, it's probably time to get
- 38:03Speaker 8: rid of the bloodstains on that shirt I never worn again. Though.
- 38:08Speaker 7: Do you remember the guy who was selected right in
- 38:10Speaker 7: front of you?
- 38:11Speaker 2: Do you know who it is? Oh? Yeah, Mohammad Wilkerson. Yeah,
- 38:14Speaker 2: he's not as good as you though, had a good career.
- 38:18Speaker 8: There are a lot of people in that that draft
- 38:20Speaker 8: that I look back at the draft and like I
- 38:22Speaker 8: got to outlast them all. There's like there's me, Cam Jordan,
- 38:25Speaker 8: von Miller left right now. Yes, but you know, I'm
- 38:29Speaker 8: appreciative to being a part of the draft. I think
- 38:31Speaker 8: it's a great draft class, Cam Newton, Julio Jones, A J. Green,
- 38:36Speaker 8: Von Miller, JJ Watt. You know there's a Ryan Carrigan,
- 38:42Speaker 8: Nick Fairley, Marcel Darius, Cam Jordan's.
- 38:48Speaker 2: Who else?
- 38:49Speaker 8: Mohammed Wilkerson, Corey Legit, Danny Watkins who went to the
- 38:55Speaker 8: Philadelphia Eagles.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Uh.
- 38:57Speaker 8: There, there's there's a crew of Bill Taylor. It's just
- 39:01Speaker 8: I remember all of them just because like I keep
- 39:03Speaker 8: that story in.
- 39:05Speaker 2: Yeah, go ahead, what's the fulfillment you get?
- 39:07Speaker 9: I've been meaning to ask this of players who have
- 39:09Speaker 9: podcasts of podcasting while you're still playing.
- 39:14Speaker 8: One sharing my insight. I think a lot of times
- 39:17Speaker 8: interviews it can be a little bit more cookie cutter,
- 39:20Speaker 8: but like I like to have fun. I like to
- 39:22Speaker 8: ask off the wall questions sometimes, but also making sure
- 39:27Speaker 8: like when we do have guests on that they feel
- 39:29Speaker 8: comfortable that I'm not coming from a position where I'm
- 39:32Speaker 8: trying to, you know, get some lead story, but just
- 39:36Speaker 8: honestly get to know you. You know, I'm I'm more
- 39:40Speaker 8: just trying to have fun with it and you know,
- 39:42Speaker 8: really explore the space.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Who's the guest you haven't had on your podcast that
- 39:46Speaker 1: you're dying to get on?
- 39:48Speaker 2: Oh man, that is.
- 39:52Speaker 8: Well one you want Lebron one day, because like I
- 39:55Speaker 8: would love to have a conversation talk about how you know,
- 40:00Speaker 8: he came and spoke at Ohio State and I didn't
- 40:03Speaker 8: get a a autograph at that time, but then like
- 40:08Speaker 8: I had Lil Wayne on and I'm like, I would
- 40:10Speaker 8: love to get Drake too, So you know, I think
- 40:13Speaker 8: that would be pretty special as well.
- 40:14Speaker 1: All Right, since we had this debate, we'll let you
- 40:16Speaker 1: go right after this and we'll talk about us a
- 40:18Speaker 1: a again.
- 40:19Speaker 2: In a second.
- 40:20Speaker 1: He'll be out there with me to Times tomorrow doing
- 40:22Speaker 1: a great event. We had this debate earlier today. It's
- 40:25Speaker 1: a debate that's never been had on radio before, certainly
- 40:28Speaker 1: not sports radio. Okay, Lebron or Lebron or Michael who
- 40:33Speaker 1: you got? Yeah, wow, take your time.
- 40:36Speaker 2: I'm sure you've never thought of it.
- 40:37Speaker 11: Yes man, Right after he said no cookie Cutter podcast,
- 40:46Speaker 11: I know, you know, i'd.
- 40:50Speaker 2: Say, Lebron, what that's the right answer? Smart, that's smart. Recently,
- 40:56Speaker 2: I'm you know, you know who doesn't get enough credit? Shack?
- 41:01Speaker 8: Yeah, Shaq doesn't get enough. Like there was a time
- 41:04Speaker 8: where nobody was stopping Shack. And I still don't think
- 41:07Speaker 8: anybody in this league was stopping Shack, right, and it
- 41:10Speaker 8: it looked abnormal. We're watching joke its now and you know,
- 41:14Speaker 8: obviously nobody stopping him. But like, Shack was so powerful
- 41:19Speaker 8: and so unstoppable. That two thousand run is one of
- 41:24Speaker 8: the best runs ever.
- 41:25Speaker 2: No doubt ya. And that was the only year he
- 41:27Speaker 2: actually tried, to be honest, that's how good he was, though.
- 41:31Speaker 7: That was him not trying the rest of the time.
- 41:33Speaker 9: When I first covered the heat, I started two thousand,
- 41:35Speaker 9: and I never felt more sorry for an athlete than
- 41:39Speaker 9: I did for Brian Grant every time he had to
- 41:41Speaker 9: face Shack. He's six foot ten beast of a man,
- 41:44Speaker 9: but looked like a tiny scared toddler when he was
- 41:47Speaker 9: defending him. You're so dead on For like five six
- 41:49Speaker 9: years it was Shack absolutely dominant.
- 41:54Speaker 8: In the thing, like they had like Alonzo Mourning, and
- 41:56Speaker 8: like it's not like Alonzo Mourning wasn't defense a player
- 42:00Speaker 8: of the here, like he just he knew how to
- 42:04Speaker 8: make everyone feel not inferior, but like he know how
- 42:08Speaker 8: to take over the spotlight.
- 42:09Speaker 1: Yes, they had no shot against right, No, it's insane
- 42:12Speaker 1: when you think about it. Cam, one more time on
- 42:15Speaker 1: the way out here, you'll be doing what with USAA
- 42:17Speaker 1: with mina chimes tomorrow at one o'clock.
- 42:20Speaker 2: I believe it is, Yes, sir, looking forward to it.
- 42:23Speaker 1: You want to promote it one more time here on
- 42:24Speaker 1: the way out.
- 42:25Speaker 8: Yeah, yeah, I'm partnering with the USAA where we're having
- 42:30Speaker 8: a chalk talk with one hundred service military members and
- 42:34Speaker 8: we're just getting a chance to shine a light on them,
- 42:37Speaker 8: say we're thankful, tell some great stories. You know, this
- 42:42Speaker 8: is really near and dear to my heart because my grandfather,
- 42:45Speaker 8: he was in the Coast Guard on the reserve. So
- 42:47Speaker 8: you know, whatever I can do to help out, I'm
- 42:49Speaker 8: always getting for all.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Right, Kim, we appreciate it, Enjoy the Draft in Pittsburgh
- 42:53Speaker 1: this weekend, and keep up the great work man.
- 42:56Speaker 2: We love you you too, Appreciate you guys. Thanks, yeah,
- 42:59Speaker 2: thank you,
