  Speaker 1: We're talking this week about becoming strong in the Lord.

  Speaker 1: We've seen that the foundation of the spiritual life that

  Speaker 1: you are building, the blueprint.

  Speaker 1: Is the Bible

  Speaker 1: It is your blueprint for your spiritual life. It shows
• 0:45
  Speaker 1: you how to act, how to think, how to relate
• 0:50
  Speaker 1: to God in a healthy way, how to respond to
• 0:53
  Speaker 1: different situations. Learn to put the Bible as the foundation
• 0:57
  Speaker 1: of your life. That's why we start our morning this

  Speaker 1: way each day.

  Speaker 1: Not only that, but the second crucial thing in becoming
• 1:06
  Speaker 1: strong in the Lord is learning to obey God. I mean,

  Speaker 1: there's no reason for going to the Bible if you
• 1:15
  Speaker 1: don't intend to obey what God is wanting to say
• 1:18
  Speaker 1: to you. In fact, it'll have a more negative impact
• 1:22
  Speaker 1: on your spiritual life to spend time in the Bible
• 1:26
  Speaker 1: if you have no intention of obeying it.

  Speaker 1: If you have no intention of obeying God, then why
• 1:34
  Speaker 1: call yourself a Christian.

  Speaker 1: A Christian, a Christ one, is a person who has

  Speaker 1: put God at the centre of their life and says, God,

  Speaker 1: I want to obey and honour you.

  Speaker 1: And today we come to Romans chapter 8. In verses

  Speaker 1: 28 to 30. Paul says, and we know that God

  Speaker 1: causes all things to work together for good to those

  Speaker 1: who love God, to those who are called according to
• 2:05
  Speaker 1: His purpose, for whom He foreknew. He also predestined to
• 2:11
  Speaker 1: become conformed to the image of His Son.

  Speaker 1: That he, Jesus might be the first born among many brethren.

  Speaker 1: And whom he predestined these he also called, and whom
• 2:24
  Speaker 1: he called these he also justified and whom he justified
• 2:29
  Speaker 1: these he also glorified.

  Speaker 1: What these verses really show us is that God has

  Speaker 1: a goal in your life, and it's that goal of
• 2:40
  Speaker 1: God and you aligning yourself with God's goal in your
• 2:44
  Speaker 1: life that gives spiritual strength to your life, because without
• 2:50
  Speaker 1: a goal we live aimless lives. We're just trying to
• 2:53
  Speaker 1: get by, trying to make life the easiest, the best,
• 2:56
  Speaker 1: the most pleasurable that it can be. None of those
• 2:59
  Speaker 1: are meaningful.

  Speaker 1: Strength comes from having a goal, and God's goal for
• 3:05
  Speaker 1: your life is that you would be conformed to the
• 3:08
  Speaker 1: image of His Son. Literally, the Greek word is transformed
• 3:12
  Speaker 1: from the inside out. Metamorphosis is the Greek word.
• 3:17
  Speaker 1: God is wanting to change you, to transform you, to
• 3:22
  Speaker 1: be like His Son Jesus.
• 3:26
  Speaker 1: You can't do that in your own strength, but God
• 3:28
  Speaker 1: can do that in you. And when you make that
• 3:31
  Speaker 1: your great goal in life, to know God, to walk
• 3:36
  Speaker 1: with God, to be changed by God as you walk
• 3:40
  Speaker 1: with Him.

  Speaker 1: Then there is a reason for living the way you live.

  Speaker 1: There's a reason to resist temptation in your life. There's
• 3:52
  Speaker 1: a reason to pursue Christlikeness. JI Packer says, What were
• 3:58
  Speaker 1: we made for? To know God. What aim should we
• 4:02
  Speaker 1: have in life? To know God. What is the eternal
• 4:07
  Speaker 1: life that Jesus gives?

  Speaker 1: To know God, what is the best thing in life,
• 4:15
  Speaker 1: to know God.

  Speaker 1: What in humans gives God most pleasure.

  Speaker 1: The knowledge of himself.
