2:51
Speaker 6: Thank you for having me today.
2:53
Speaker 5: Any idea how long Summerfest has been going on in Charleston,
2:56
Speaker 5: Because it's like it's always been a thing.
2:57
Speaker 7: Yeah, so I had to figure it out myself. So
3:00
Speaker 7: this is our twentieth annual.
3:01
Speaker 5: Twentieth twentieth annual. All right, it starts tomorrow, yes, and
3:06
Speaker 5: it runs through Saturday. Let's just go over, start from
3:08
Speaker 5: the top, go over some of the activities. I know
3:10
Speaker 5: you get some new stuff this year too.
3:11
Speaker 7: Yes, yes, we're very excited this year. Summer Fest's August
3:15
Speaker 7: fourteenth through the seventeenth.
3:17
Speaker 3: May have you pulled that microphone just a little bit
3:18
Speaker 3: closer together? There you go, there you go.
3:20
Speaker 7: And we'll have live bands each day, some notable bands.
3:25
Speaker 7: On Wednesday, Why Mother Mother's Nature Band, followed by Josh
3:30
Speaker 7: Fulms being the Crooked Roots. On Thursday, we'll have the
3:34
Speaker 7: Danly Band, followed by the Legacy Motown. On Friday, we'll
3:39
Speaker 7: have the Velvet Brothers followed by Seven Bridges.
3:42
Speaker 3: Then that's the Eagles Tribute, right. Yes, I've had opportunity
3:45
Speaker 3: to see them several times. They're very good, very popular.
3:48
Speaker 7: Then on Saturday, which is last day, we'll have Non
3:51
Speaker 7: Friction followed by Rick k road Trip.
3:54
Speaker 5: You got some heavy hitters there. I'm familiar with Velvet Brothers.
3:58
Speaker 5: I have MC a couple of shows involving friction.
4:02
Speaker 3: Is that what h and uh?
4:04
Speaker 5: And Rick K of course for years legend in West
4:07
Speaker 5: Virginity music scene for a long time with Rick K
4:09
Speaker 5: and the All Nighters. This is kind of like a
4:11
Speaker 5: like it's another version of that.
4:12
Speaker 3: I mean, he's.
4:13
Speaker 6: Awesome, Yeah, yeah, very popular and uh.
4:16
Speaker 5: And the one thing I like about the way you
4:18
Speaker 5: guys do the music for the Summer Fest is it's
4:20
Speaker 5: a little bit of everything. It's something pretty much too
4:22
Speaker 5: that that just about anybody, even any age would like.
4:25
Speaker 7: Yes, I think I think everybody loves it. And actually
4:27
Speaker 7: so in between bands every day there's a dance contest
4:31
Speaker 7: as well. There we'll start out with the kids, then
4:34
Speaker 7: we'll bring the adults in.
4:35
Speaker 3: Any chance we'll see Mayor Mullins out there.
4:37
Speaker 6: In the dance, we'll have to see.
4:40
Speaker 3: I'd pay to see that.
4:42
Speaker 5: And the weather looks looks great good, yes, a little
4:45
Speaker 5: like slight chance of rain here and there.
4:47
Speaker 3: But that's pretty much all of it there is.
4:49
Speaker 5: And talk about the other activities going on, I mean
4:51
Speaker 5: about the music, because it's it's not just about music.
4:54
Speaker 3: Got foods, you got car shows.
4:55
Speaker 7: Just we'll have over twenty vendors there with with witho
5:00
Speaker 7: food and there'll be some cell item vendors as well.
5:03
Speaker 7: We'll have the City of Side Torontos has sponsored kid Zone,
5:06
Speaker 7: which is inflatables, free snow cones and face painting. Then
5:11
Speaker 7: we'll also have Colinal rides there as well with the
5:15
Speaker 7: ferris wheel.
5:16
Speaker 5: And it all starts Wednesday and on through Saturday. What
5:19
Speaker 5: times does it start, like like in the weekday?
5:21
Speaker 6: Six pm each evening, So at six.
5:22
Speaker 5: Pm each evening, that's every day, right, yep? I see,
5:25
Speaker 5: And I was talking to you earlier about this drone show.
5:28
Speaker 5: This is something that's I guess kind of new about it. Okay,
5:30
Speaker 5: talk about this drone show on how that works.
5:32
Speaker 7: Yeah, So we are very excited for this. We're excited
5:35
Speaker 7: for the public to come out and see it. It
5:38
Speaker 7: will be Friday at ten pm and it will be
5:41
Speaker 7: a fifteen minute show with music.
5:44
Speaker 3: Okay, so what it's gonna be drones, but it's gonna
5:48
Speaker 3: be synced.
5:48
Speaker 6: With the music because that right, it's gonna be sync
5:49
Speaker 6: with the music.
5:50
Speaker 5: All right, So if people are downtown, they should be
5:52
Speaker 5: able to see what was what exactly will they see?
5:54
Speaker 7: So the so there'll be a bunch of drones in
5:56
Speaker 7: the air, and you'll to see lights different, different, care different.
6:01
Speaker 5: You know, it's basically like modern day fireworks. It's like
6:03
Speaker 5: the next generation of fireworks. Yes, And because I know
6:06
Speaker 5: these things are very very popular. They happen in other
6:10
Speaker 5: cities all across the state and all across the nation.
6:12
Speaker 5: And this is not that you're trying to phase out fireworks,
6:15
Speaker 5: but this is something you know, a little most people
6:17
Speaker 5: would say a little easier to deal with, maybe a
6:19
Speaker 5: little safer as well.
6:21
Speaker 7: Yeah, And I think we're just very excited for to
6:23
Speaker 7: bring it to this area because I don't I think
6:25
Speaker 7: there's been very few in this area, maybe one or two,
6:29
Speaker 7: So we're excited for that. And we're still having our
6:31
Speaker 7: fireworks show as well on Saturday at ten PM.
6:34
Speaker 5: So we kept the drone show Friday night at ten
6:37
Speaker 5: and then fireworks will be Saturday at ten can. We're
6:39
Speaker 5: talking with Sean Zuniga, who is a marketing director for
6:41
Speaker 5: the City of South Charlestood about Summerfest, which kicks off tomorrow.
6:45
Speaker 5: A day valance show in five eighty Live is brought
6:47
Speaker 5: to part by Morgan and Morgan. If You're injured, Hire
6:49
Speaker 5: Morgan to Morgan in America's largest injury law firm. And
6:51
Speaker 5: you know, there's so many activities that go on in
6:54
Speaker 5: the Kanaha Valley during the summer. Of course for God
6:56
Speaker 5: is the big one, but every town and you know,
6:58
Speaker 5: it seems to have something going on, but this is
7:00
Speaker 5: the one that kind of kind and I don't want
7:03
Speaker 5: to put you know, I don't want to get ahead
7:05
Speaker 5: of ourselves, but it's one of that kind of brings
7:06
Speaker 5: summer to the tool close because school starts.
7:10
Speaker 3: In Kana County on Friday. So this is this is
7:13
Speaker 3: kind of the thing that says, Okay, it's it's time
7:15
Speaker 3: to get ready for fall down.
7:16
Speaker 7: Yes, I think it's one of those events. It's nice
7:19
Speaker 7: to kind of have it and in the summertime, and
7:22
Speaker 7: you know, it's a special event as well. I was
7:25
Speaker 7: actually going back and looking at past interviews that's that's
7:28
Speaker 7: been done and what was special about this one interview.
7:32
Speaker 7: A little girl was interviewed and she was asked what
7:35
Speaker 7: she liked most about, uh the event, and she had
7:39
Speaker 7: said the Ferris Will and and they asked her why.
7:42
Speaker 7: She said, because I'm up so high I can talk
7:44
Speaker 7: to the birds, right, And that's what it is, That's
7:47
Speaker 7: what it's about for us. It's about quality of life,
7:49
Speaker 7: and I think that's what this event is about, and
7:52
Speaker 7: it's about it's what the city is about as well.
7:55
Speaker 5: And you know South Charleston and I talked to Mayor
7:57
Speaker 5: Mullins on the show a lot, and it's one of
7:59
Speaker 5: those special places that people really really take pride in.
8:03
Speaker 5: And you're a South Charleston guy, yes, so, I mean
8:06
Speaker 5: you've lived here pretty much your whole life, so it's
8:09
Speaker 5: it's a lot of people just take pride in their
8:11
Speaker 5: community in South Charles.
8:13
Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean the people, you know, the people a
8:15
Speaker 7: great city. Employees are great. I mean, it's it's it's
8:19
Speaker 7: it's it's definitely someplace special.
8:22
Speaker 5: And how does the pricing work if people for the
8:24
Speaker 5: different things?
8:25
Speaker 6: So entry there is no entry feet.
8:29
Speaker 3: Right, you're right on the street, so it'd be hard
8:30
Speaker 3: to do.
8:30
Speaker 6: Yeah.
8:31
Speaker 7: Yeah, so, uh, there's only fees for you know, the
8:34
Speaker 7: food vendors, item vendors, and if you want to do
8:37
Speaker 7: the fairs, Will and eminem inflables I Ohio, they'll be
8:40
Speaker 7: there as well with their inflatables and various games if
8:43
Speaker 7: you so.
8:44
Speaker 5: You just want to do that, you just you just
8:46
Speaker 5: kind of pay as you as you go on that
8:47
Speaker 5: sort of thing, but everything else. But people could come
8:49
Speaker 5: out and have a great time to listen to the
8:51
Speaker 5: concerts and enjoy the fireworks and the drone show and everything.
8:55
Speaker 6: At no cost and no cost.
8:57
Speaker 5: And as I said, the weather looks great, which you know,
8:59
Speaker 5: it's been hotter than you know what all summer, so
9:01
Speaker 5: it's going to be a little bit a little bit
9:03
Speaker 5: more moderate I think as far as the as the
9:06
Speaker 5: temperatures go. And again, this is kind of like one
9:09
Speaker 5: of those things that every that a lot of towns
9:12
Speaker 5: have that it brings people together and it's almost like
9:16
Speaker 5: a family reunion because people look forward to it. But
9:18
Speaker 5: it's big for South Charleston, but this event would not
9:20
Speaker 5: be as popular at Sean as what it is if
9:22
Speaker 5: it weren't for the other areas. So you're going to
9:24
Speaker 5: see people from Saint Albans and Nitro and Charleston and
9:27
Speaker 5: Tays Valley that come out and literally all over.
9:29
Speaker 3: The state for this.
9:29
Speaker 7: Yes, and we want them to come out. We want
9:31
Speaker 7: them to come out and see what's South Chroston is about.
9:33
Speaker 5: Yeah, all right, So where can people learn more about it?
9:36
Speaker 7: They can go to our website, City's Howthreston dot com.
9:38
Speaker 7: Or they can follow our Facebook page as well at
9:41
Speaker 7: City is how Charleston.
9:42
Speaker 3: And you got a lot of good information.
9:43
Speaker 5: I was taking a look at it earlier this morning,
9:45
Speaker 5: as far as you actually have a map of the
9:47
Speaker 5: layout of the different things and so on and so forth.
9:49
Speaker 5: Let's take it from the top again, give us, give
9:51
Speaker 5: us all the activities that are going on again.
9:53
Speaker 7: Yeah, So this is our twentith annual Summer Fast August
9:55
Speaker 7: fourteenth through seventeenth. We'll have live bands each evening starting
9:59
Speaker 7: at six p We'll have a City of South Charleston
10:02
Speaker 7: sponsored kid zone with free snow cones, face painting and inflatables.
10:08
Speaker 7: There'll be a fairis will if you choose to do
10:10
Speaker 7: that as well, and we'll have over twenty food vendors
10:12
Speaker 7: and item vendors as well.
10:14
Speaker 3: All right, looking forward to it.
10:16
Speaker 5: It'll be Wednesday through Saturday right there in the heart
10:18
Speaker 5: of South Charleston, Manning pretty much. Just take over the
10:21
Speaker 5: whole area there, don't you.
10:22
Speaker 7: Yeah, and don't forget what the drone show Friday ten pm,
10:25
Speaker 7: fireworks Saturday ten pm.
10:27

10:28

Speaker 5: is a planning hopefully and hopefully from their perspective, to

Speaker 5: do some upgrades around the area, including the Days Valley area.
14:41
Speaker 5: Normally this would be a good thing, one would think,
14:43
Speaker 5: but as best I understand that their upgrades could possibly
14:47

Speaker 5: good morning, welcome to the.
14:58
Speaker 3: Show, Good morning to you.
15:00
Speaker 8: How are you doing today?
15:00
Speaker 3: Doing fine? So, what exactly, Mayor, is the issue here?
15:04
Speaker 3: What are the plans? Let's just start from the very
15:06
Speaker 3: beginning about what they want to do and why is
15:08
Speaker 3: it an issue?
15:10
Speaker 8: So AEP they need, Well, they really are going to
15:13
Speaker 8: be doing two things, sitting in a new station, a
15:17
Speaker 8: new power station, booster station per se in Tays Valley
15:21
Speaker 8: along Pays Valley Road. But the big impact are the
15:25
Speaker 8: twenty miles of transmission lines that they're going to be doing.
15:30
Speaker 8: And we all need electric by the way, you know,
15:32
Speaker 8: Hurricane Tays valley'scott depot has grown tremendously over the last
15:37
Speaker 8: you know, fifteen twenty thirty years, as we all know,
15:39
Speaker 8: and it's going to continue to grow, so we need electric.
15:43
Speaker 8: But the big impact that we're seeing is they're going
15:46
Speaker 8: to traverse, go right across, right through Meeks Mountain Trails.
15:52
Speaker 8: And as you know, Meeks Mountain Trails of five or
15:55
Speaker 8: six hundred acres that has a thirty two mile trail
15:59
Speaker 8: system and built, you know, thirty forty thousand volunteer hours,
16:03
Speaker 8: built by about five hundred volunteers, and it's become a
16:06
Speaker 8: big economic driver for our area. Meets Mountain Trails. You know,
16:10
Speaker 8: we attract people not just from Hurricane Pays Valley of
16:13
Speaker 8: even Putnam County. We get regularly three to four hundred
16:16
Speaker 8: users per day on this trail system from multiple counties,
16:20
Speaker 8: but we also have events that drive people from all
16:23
Speaker 8: over the country here. So it's a big economic driver.
16:26
Speaker 8: Meets Mountain Trails is a huge community. It's not just
16:29
Speaker 8: a this isn't just a hurricane thing. This is a
16:32
Speaker 8: full community. And if the initially proposed line when I
16:38
Speaker 8: say traverse the trails, we're talking one hundred foot right away,
16:42
Speaker 8: bulldozers just devastatingly going across right through the middle of
16:47
Speaker 8: the trail system, and you know, and then dump trucks
16:51
Speaker 8: and concrete trucks and cranes, and it's a part you know,
16:55
Speaker 8: end up having a permanent like a slice across your faith.
16:59
Speaker 8: I guess you know, you have this permanent road of
17:03
Speaker 8: devastation rates in the middle of the trail system. And
17:05
Speaker 8: if Dave, if you've seen the trail system and see
17:09
Speaker 8: how compacted is any you know, any any way that
17:16
Speaker 8: that the lines would go across it. I think it's
17:19
Speaker 8: about thirty points of impact on the trail, So it
17:21
Speaker 8: wouldn't just be crossing one trail one time. There would
17:25
Speaker 8: be twenty five or thirty points of impact. It would
17:28
Speaker 8: just be devastation to the you know, to the to
17:32
Speaker 8: the system. And we're you know, we're working with ap
17:36
Speaker 8: We hope that they're going to and they told us, hey,
17:39
Speaker 8: we'll we'll work with you all. We'll look at some alternatives,
17:43
Speaker 8: but we we need to make sure that they do.
17:46
Speaker 8: It's very important. I received more phone calls, more texts,
17:49
Speaker 8: more Facebook messages than I have on anything else in
17:55
Speaker 8: my seventeen years as mayor. There's been more more people
17:58
Speaker 8: come out from the community begging, begging, please don't let
18:02
Speaker 8: this happen.
18:03
Speaker 5: And again, I think people need to understand the impact
18:06
Speaker 5: of this, of this trail system, and I agree with you, Mary.
18:08
Speaker 5: I don't think anybody is saying that we don't need
18:11
Speaker 5: some upgrades and some things going on like that. And
18:13
Speaker 5: Tay's Valley it as an ever growing area, has been
18:15
Speaker 5: for some time and it's about to really grow even
18:17
Speaker 5: more and maybe five times towards the end of the interview.
18:20
Speaker 3: And I can talk about that a little bit.
18:22
Speaker 5: But when you talk about impacting this trail system, I
18:24
Speaker 5: mean you're not only talking about possibly the environmental aspects
18:28
Speaker 5: of it. We're talking about the money aspects of it.
18:30
Speaker 5: And that's where you get my interest. When you start
18:33
Speaker 5: talking about the money that comes in for this thing, man,
18:35
Speaker 5: talk about.
18:36
Speaker 8: That, Well, sure, yeah, there's money that comes in into
18:39
Speaker 8: our community, you know, hotel and hotel money, a restaurant money,
18:45
Speaker 8: local shopping money. There's people coming in from all over
18:49
Speaker 8: the country and even from other countries. They come here
18:53
Speaker 8: for our races. Every year. We have one one hundred
18:55
Speaker 8: k race on the mountain. We have five K ten
18:58
Speaker 8: K And for those that don't know Meek's Mountain Trails.
19:03
Speaker 8: The land is owned by the Meeks family. The city
19:06
Speaker 8: leases the six hundred acres of land and we work
19:09
Speaker 8: side by side with the Meeks Mountain Trail of Alliance,
19:12
Speaker 8: which is a nonprofit. So we have private, we have
19:15
Speaker 8: public and a nonprofit all working together and have created
19:19
Speaker 8: this massive community of I don't know how many thousands
19:23
Speaker 8: and thousands and thousands of people that are part of
19:26
Speaker 8: this community. And these trails are not just dirt paths.
19:31
Speaker 8: If you just look at them, take a picture and
19:32
Speaker 8: I send it to you, it looks like a dirt path,
19:35
Speaker 8: and it is. They're handbuilt. I f helped build them.
19:38
Speaker 8: They're handbuilt by over five hundred volunteers. But it's not
19:43
Speaker 8: just the dirt path, it's the community that's been created.
19:47
Speaker 8: I was on the trails the other night and there
19:50
Speaker 8: came about twenty mountain bikers there from the Huntington They
19:54
Speaker 8: come and use the trails all the time. People from Tarston, Backley, Parkersburg,
19:59
Speaker 8: Ashland see a lot of Ashland people here on a
20:03
Speaker 8: regular basis. They'll come here all the time. And it's
20:06
Speaker 8: absolutely amazing knowing that at any given moment, any given day,
20:10
Speaker 8: there's three or four hundred people use this trail system.
20:13
Speaker 8: It's unbelievable what this has created. For Hurricane and Putnam County.
20:17
Speaker 8: It's I always say, it's truly the gem of Putnam County.
20:20
Speaker 8: It's it's it's absolutely amazing, and.
20:22
Speaker 5: It's gotten Mayor a whole lot of national attention. And
20:25
Speaker 5: she said, I know there's been articles done about it.
20:26
Speaker 5: There's been news stories done about it, literally from across
20:28
Speaker 5: the nation.
20:30
Speaker 8: Absolutely a local gym and with my friend Matt Stevens
20:34
Speaker 8: Owes a local gym, and just a little over a
20:36
Speaker 8: week ago, and this is a for profit gym, he
20:39
Speaker 8: used Meets Mountain Trails as part of a three day competition.
20:43
Speaker 8: He brought in people from all over the country. You know,
20:46
Speaker 8: they were former NFL players, There were all these these
20:50
Speaker 8: extreme athletes came in and and and they used Meets
20:53
Speaker 8: Mountain Trails as part of this huge nationwide competition. So
20:58
Speaker 8: we're starting to see things like that happen all the time,
21:02
Speaker 8: you know, not just the nonprofit five kpn k uh
21:05
Speaker 8: half marathon, one hundred k all that stuff. Yeah, I said,
21:09
Speaker 8: one hundred k that's insane, by the way, I know
21:12
Speaker 8: that event and watched, But these guys and gals that
21:14
Speaker 8: run that or are crazy.
21:16
Speaker 3: I ain't driving a hundred k, Mayor, right.
21:18
Speaker 8: But it does it brings in so much attention nationally,
21:22
Speaker 8: and there's podcasts, there's there's articles written nationally. This isn't
21:26
Speaker 8: just local. You know, even at the at the county
21:29
Speaker 8: and state level tourism, you know, they they know and participate,
21:34
Speaker 8: they know about Meeks Mountain Trails from the state level,
21:38
Speaker 8: they they nobody wants them to be touched. That nobody,
21:43
Speaker 8: you know, from Again, this is not just Hurriking and
21:45
Speaker 8: Putnham County state level. No one wants the trails to
21:48
Speaker 8: be touched because it truly is a gem of Putnam
21:52
Speaker 8: County in West Virginia. It's amazing what's been created here
21:55
Speaker 8: and the text.
21:56
Speaker 5: Or the show mayor whether somebody said several Eagle Scout
21:59
Speaker 5: projects and scanned war memorial, et cetera, and uh, I'm so,
22:04
Speaker 5: I mean that's just some of the things that's happened.
22:06
Speaker 8: Yes, the war memorial and and Eagle Eagle Scout projects
22:09
Speaker 8: and and just you know, the war memorial is absolutely amazing.
22:13
Speaker 8: I would urge everybody to go out and look at it.
22:15
Speaker 8: And it's a it's it'll bring tears to your eyes
22:19
Speaker 8: when you see this huge, huge memorial. It's it's amazing.
22:24
Speaker 8: And Eagle scout projects. Just local have have built different
22:28
Speaker 8: things on the trails, have been part of the trail systems.
22:30
Speaker 8: There's many local businesses not they didn't pay money, they volunteered.
22:37
Speaker 8: You know, City National Bank, UH, they were one of
22:40
Speaker 8: the first ones that that that their group volunteered to
22:43
Speaker 8: go out and work on the trail system, and many many,
22:46
Speaker 8: many other businesses there. Their team the City of Hurricane
22:49
Speaker 8: UH for for three or four years. During the bill process,
22:53
Speaker 8: we took it took a day and h and folks
22:56
Speaker 8: from the city came and worked on the trail system.
22:59
Speaker 8: And that's that's it's made it huge. It's all volunteer hours.
23:03
Speaker 5: So there's public meetings being planned. I know one of
23:05
Speaker 5: those is going to be the sevening at four thirty
23:08
Speaker 5: at Valley Park. There's another one tomorrow, you mean in Winfield.
23:10
Speaker 5: Talk about the importance of those public meetings and it
23:12
Speaker 5: mayor exactly what's going to go on at those.
23:15
Speaker 8: So the public meetings today from four thirty to seven
23:18
Speaker 8: thirty at the Valley Park Community Center. Tomorrow four thirty
23:22
Speaker 8: to seven thirty at the Winfield Community Center. I what
23:25
Speaker 8: I've put out is I urge every single person that
23:28
Speaker 8: has used the trails. If you're an enthusiast of the trails,
23:32
Speaker 8: if you've thought about using the trail, and if you've
23:35
Speaker 8: heard of the trails and know just how important they are,
23:37
Speaker 8: to come to this meeting, please come to the meeting
23:39
Speaker 8: and show your support for our community. It doesn't just
23:42
Speaker 8: have to be the trail enthusiast, doesn't have to just
23:44
Speaker 8: be the person that walks on them once a week.
23:48
Speaker 8: It could be everybody.
23:49
Speaker 12: We need.
23:49
Speaker 8: We literally need everybody to show to show support, and
23:53
Speaker 8: it's just a show of support. The meetings are an
23:55
Speaker 8: open forum meeting, which means there's no one speaking at
23:59
Speaker 8: the meeting. There'll be different sections at the meeting. You know,
24:02
Speaker 8: it's four or five different different sections set up where
24:05
Speaker 8: you can go and speak to an APU representative about
24:08
Speaker 8: They'll have a line placement, you know, where the lines
24:10
Speaker 8: are going section. They may have something else talking about
24:13
Speaker 8: where they're going potentially going through a neighborhood. This section,
24:17
Speaker 8: I'll talk about how they're potentially affecting Nieus Mountain Trails.
24:21
Speaker 8: So the biggest thing is to come and show support.
24:24
Speaker 8: Fill out the ap g IS comment cards. They want
24:27
Speaker 8: people's comments. Even if you can stop in for five minutes,
24:31
Speaker 8: stop in, fill out the comment card, drop it off.
24:33
Speaker 8: We need that and we need people today and tomorrow.
24:36
Speaker 8: Don't just come to day to Valley Park. I need
24:38
Speaker 8: you there today. That needs you drive to Windfild tomorrow
24:41
Speaker 8: and show support. It's that important.
24:43
Speaker 5: And again you talked about your conversations with AEP and
24:46
Speaker 5: they have said that they're willing mayor to work with
24:48
Speaker 5: you and community leaders on this, So they're not totally
24:52
Speaker 5: I mean from what you're telling me, and if I'm wrong,
24:53
Speaker 5: you can correct me. I don't think that they're looking
24:55
Speaker 5: at you saying this is one hundred percent a done deal.
24:57
Speaker 5: They're looking at you saying, well, let's see what the
24:59
Speaker 5: public to say about this.
25:00
Speaker 3: Is that correct?
25:02
Speaker 8: Well, yeah, they they have their engineered plans. They and
25:06
Speaker 8: they've told us they've been working on this about a
25:08
Speaker 8: year and a half. They have their engineer plans of
25:11
Speaker 8: what they know will work. So we have an uphill battle,
25:13
Speaker 8: but we want to work with them, and they want
25:16
Speaker 8: to work with us, so they do. Indeed, I spoke
25:20
Speaker 8: to some of their folks today. They are are willing
25:23
Speaker 8: to work with us and and look at some possible alternatives.
25:28
Speaker 8: And that's our that's our hope and prayer right now.
25:30
Speaker 8: That's where we're at. We we want them to work
25:34
Speaker 8: with us. We want them to be part of this
25:35
Speaker 8: whole system. They have a chance, ap has a chance
25:39
Speaker 8: to show the nation, not just Hurricane and Puttenham County.
25:42
Speaker 8: They can show the nation that they can come together
25:46
Speaker 8: and be part of this massive community. This massive meets
25:51
Speaker 8: you know, meets Mountain Charlest, the community that that has
25:54
Speaker 8: been created, and they can join in. They can be
25:57
Speaker 8: part of the whole, the whole movement. I mean, this
25:59
Speaker 8: is this is people's health. This is you know, people
26:03
Speaker 8: have gotten healthy on this mountain. There's a gentleman I
26:05
Speaker 8: know that's lost two hundred pounds in the last year
26:08
Speaker 8: or two. The cause of these mountains people emotional emotions,
26:13
Speaker 8: I mean people. I get all these phone calls from
26:15
Speaker 8: people I didn't realize until recently. I've known for years
26:20
Speaker 8: how important it is that I've been overwhelmed with phone
26:23
Speaker 8: calls in the last eight or nine days. You know,
26:26
Speaker 8: people will call and say, hey, you don't know me,
26:28
Speaker 8: but I go walk on the trails every day because
26:30
Speaker 8: I need to separate from work. I need to get
26:33
Speaker 8: away from computers and technology. And it's helped me mentally.
26:36
Speaker 8: There's been so many people that have they have fixed
26:40
Speaker 8: themselves mentally, you know, because of the trail system. Now
26:44
Speaker 8: there's the enthusiast. There's the folks that ride the mountain bikes.
26:49
Speaker 8: There's a gentleman, one of my good friends. He's probably
26:51
Speaker 8: down eighty or one hundred pounds. He's turned into a
26:54
Speaker 8: mountain bike or extreme well two years ago he had
26:57
Speaker 8: never been probably been twenty years since he'd been on bus.
27:01
Speaker 8: So those are just a couple of little stories. There
27:04
Speaker 8: are hundreds or even thousands of these stories that I've
27:08
Speaker 8: heard over the years. Last ten days, I've heard a lot.
27:10
Speaker 3: I bet you have. And again this is Mayor. There's
27:12
Speaker 3: been so much about this, you know.
27:15
Speaker 5: That's I mean, just about everybody in Putnam County as
27:18
Speaker 5: and in other areas too, have commented on this one
27:21
Speaker 5: way or the other. And you've got all these people
27:23
Speaker 5: of different backgrounds, from business people to the enthusiasts on
27:25
Speaker 5: the trail. They're all coming together and saying, just pump
27:28
Speaker 5: the brakes on this and then let's see if we
27:29
Speaker 5: can get another plan. The meetings are again the four thirty.
27:33
Speaker 5: They short of four to thirty a Valley Parks this evening.
27:35
Speaker 5: Also is it four thirty tomorrow and Windfield two.
27:38
Speaker 8: Yes, it is four thirty to seven thirty both tonight
27:40
Speaker 8: at the Valley Park Community Center Tomorrow night Windfield Community Center.
27:45
Speaker 8: And we do urge, I really urge everybody to come out.
27:48
Speaker 8: Every single person should come out.
27:50
Speaker 5: And Mayor we do want to kind of reiterate what
27:52
Speaker 5: you said there is you don't think that. Don't think
27:54
Speaker 5: of it as spending an entire three hours there. I
27:56
Speaker 5: mean you can come in, you can drop in, see
27:58
Speaker 5: what they're doing, talk to the official, fell out the cards.
28:00
Speaker 5: If you can only stay thirty minutes, it's fine. If
28:02
Speaker 5: you can stay for the entire three hours, that's fine.
28:04
Speaker 5: And you do want people there both nights tonight and
28:08
Speaker 5: also tomorrow at the Winfield Community Center. Before we let
28:10
Speaker 5: you go, I want to give you about a minute
28:11
Speaker 5: or so to talk about some of the growth going
28:13
Speaker 5: on in Putnham County right now with the new how
28:15
Speaker 5: mean they just have the ribbon cutting a month or
28:17
Speaker 5: so ago, the massive development that's going to be behind
28:20
Speaker 5: Wendy's there on Tayes Valley Road, that's going to bring
28:22
Speaker 5: a lot of people in talk, just talk about some
28:25
Speaker 5: of the good things going on in Putnam County right now.
28:28
Speaker 8: So you know, we do have a housing crisis, and
28:31
Speaker 8: that's because we have lots of good things going on
28:33
Speaker 8: in Putnam County, you know, and other counties. You know,
28:36
Speaker 8: we talk about Mason County New Core, and there's there's
28:39
Speaker 8: speeder companies that will be coming to support New Core
28:42
Speaker 8: and a lot of those New Core folks that will
28:45
Speaker 8: live right here between Hurricane and Scott Depot and in
28:47
Speaker 8: Putnam County. So there is a big housing crisis. And
28:51
Speaker 8: I have a lot of real other friends of mine
28:52
Speaker 8: and they all say the same thing, huge housing crisis.
28:56
Speaker 8: But you know, with the you know, with that development
29:02
Speaker 8: coming right behind Wendy's, those three hundred and four four
29:05
Speaker 8: units that's going to help a lot, we'll still be
29:07
Speaker 8: in a housing crisis even after those are are built.
29:10
Speaker 8: And I'm looking forward to those being built. With the
29:13
Speaker 8: new interchange in cloding that's happening, we're already starting to
29:17
Speaker 8: see some movement and some talk. There's lots of things
29:20
Speaker 8: I love to tell you right now, but there's yes,
29:23
Speaker 8: you know, you're trying hard, but there's lots and lots
29:26
Speaker 8: of movement right now. Some of the things that people
29:29
Speaker 8: have always wanted are are you know, we talk about restaurants.
29:32
Speaker 8: I'm not getting in anything more than that, but there's
29:35
Speaker 8: lots of lots of movement on that, lots of lots
29:37
Speaker 8: of talk because of the way Taye Valley, Scott Depot,
29:42
Speaker 8: Hurricane and now Clodin are growing and all coming together.
29:46
Speaker 8: You know this is you know, you'll you'll look in
29:48
Speaker 8: a few years Clodin to Scott Depot, this one big area.
29:53
Speaker 8: We continue to add things and there's so many things
29:55
Speaker 8: that are being added. Can't get in anything more than
29:57
Speaker 8: that right now today, but you can try to pride out.
30:00
Speaker 5: All right, Mayor, I'll see you tonight and tomorrow night.
30:03
Speaker 5: I appreciate you being here, buddy.
30:04
Speaker 3: Thanks a lot.
30:05
Speaker 8: Yeah, first, thank you.
30:06
Speaker 3: Twenty three minutes.
30:07
Speaker 5: Away from Tama, Dave Island Show in five eighty live
30:09
Speaker 5: broad to you apart by your hometown baseball team, the
30:11
Speaker 5: Charleston Dirty Birds. Birds kick off a three game series
30:13
Speaker 5: in Lexington tonight. Tickets, promotion schedules, Dirty Birds Gearmoor, Visit
30:17
Speaker 5: Dirtybirds Baseball dot com. Tex says the Meex Mountain Trails
30:20
Speaker 5: have created new businesses too, there's a popular bike shop
30:23
Speaker 5: in several restaurants all around the entrance to the area
30:26
Speaker 5: to the park where the trails are located. It's a
30:27
Speaker 5: big job boost and a big boost to the tax pace.
30:32
Speaker 5: Do let me see here, Texas all four delegates and
30:36
Speaker 5: Puttnam defend a letter to AEP suggesting a different route. Texas,

30:42
Speaker 5: about the money to be made with the new transmission lines.
30:45
Speaker 5: There's more opportunity and new transmission lines. Also, think about
30:48
Speaker 5: the money the AEP shareholders will make from the new

30:54
Speaker 5: is not as important as money. They get a little
30:56
Speaker 5: tongue in cheek there. Look, nobody's saying that they don't
30:59
Speaker 5: want this thing, just saying they don't want it there,

35:11
Speaker 3: anything fun lately, Absolutely not.
35:13
Speaker 16: I've been working very hard. I'll have time to have fun.
35:17
Speaker 16: You know, I'm not fun in Chicago next week.
35:20
Speaker 3: Well, I'll tell you. I was just seeing it's gonna
35:22
Speaker 3: be a very fun time.
35:23
Speaker 5: I was just seeing here on the TV here in
35:25
Speaker 5: the studio, and you know, I'm not a Fox newsgas
35:26
Speaker 5: so this was, you know, not not Fox News. Expecting
35:30
Speaker 5: some some protesters, uh, and the Chicago police are gearing
35:33
Speaker 5: there's gonna be a lot of protesters in Chicago next week.
35:36
Speaker 16: There's also gonna be a lot of people there in
35:39
Speaker 16: support of the next President of the United States, Vice
35:41
Speaker 16: President Kamala Harris and the next Vice President of the
35:45
Speaker 16: United States, Governor Tim Wall.
35:46
Speaker 3: What do you think about the walls?
35:47
Speaker 6: There will be more people.
35:48
Speaker 16: There, uh to do their job as the convention of
35:52
Speaker 16: the party to nominate.
35:53
Speaker 3: What did you think about the walls as a pic?
35:56
Speaker 16: You know, I was at a meeting in Minneapolis and
36:00
Speaker 16: last summer for the Association of State Democratic Committees, and
36:04
Speaker 16: the governor was kind of enough to join us there
36:06
Speaker 16: and speak. I was very impressed with them then, so
36:09
Speaker 16: I've known about him for quite some time. He's been
36:11
Speaker 16: a very successful governor since the legislature there has righted
36:18
Speaker 16: itself and became the head. They have Democratic majorities in
36:21
Speaker 16: both their House and their Senate. They've passed some really
36:24
Speaker 16: great laws that are actually helping people, and he's been
36:27
Speaker 16: at the forefront of that. And I think he's very
36:30
Speaker 16: good at explaining policies that are promoted by the Democratic Party.
36:35
Speaker 16: They're actually when they're put in place, actually work, unlike
36:37
Speaker 16: this state that is absolutely as fiftieth and everything. I mean,
36:41
Speaker 16: Governor Justice Ring.
36:42
Speaker 5: The second best state to retire, if that just came
36:44
Speaker 5: out yesterday. We are the second best state of America.
36:47
Speaker 16: There's no future in a state that doesn't attract young people.
36:50
Speaker 16: And the very least we could do is addressed the
36:53
Speaker 16: childcare crisis in this state if we want young people
36:56
Speaker 16: to move here. But we have a complete failure from
36:58
Speaker 16: the governor or the report book, and legislature to do
37:01
Speaker 16: anything about that. We continue to be last and just
37:04
Speaker 16: about everything, and we have been for some voting with
37:07
Speaker 16: their feet and one of two states that people are leaving.
37:11
Speaker 16: We are actually losing population and that since the Republicans
37:14
Speaker 16: have had controlled this legend.
37:16
Speaker 5: But Mike, we've been last and a lot of things
37:18
Speaker 5: for a lot of years now that I mean, let's
37:20
Speaker 5: don't put this all on the Republicans. West Virginia has
37:22
Speaker 5: been dead, last and a lot of stuff for a
37:25
Speaker 5: long time.
37:25
Speaker 16: It has gotten worse over the path time, and and
37:28
Speaker 16: the population decline has proof of that. People are voting
37:31
Speaker 16: with their feet.
37:32
Speaker 3: All right, we'll get back to national politics a little later.
37:35
Speaker 16: On of news is that there's plenty of ways to
37:37
Speaker 16: address that, okay, and hopefully we can write the course
37:40
Speaker 16: so like like Minnesota did, and write the course and
37:43
Speaker 16: start electing more Democrats to office. Have better ideas of
37:46
Speaker 16: how to attract young people back to this state, make
37:48
Speaker 16: it a state people want to stay in and work
37:51
Speaker 16: in and raise a family in.
37:53
Speaker 2: Uh.
37:54
Speaker 16: There are a lot of good ideas on how to
37:55
Speaker 16: do that. Take longer than all.
37:57
Speaker 5: Right, let's let's let's get to the governor and the
38:01
Speaker 5: financial situation. The governor said, Mike, this is all politics
38:05
Speaker 5: and people are just out to get him because of politics.
38:08
Speaker 5: State Democratic Party of which you are the head, released
38:10
Speaker 5: the statement yesterday, call it the governor's claims quote baseless, baseless, Michael.
38:15
Speaker 16: Are baseless. You know, I'm sure I bet you agree
38:18
Speaker 16: with me on this.
38:19
Speaker 3: How could the well, because it gets correct.
38:23
Speaker 16: It's just the truth. And I don't think anybody actually
38:25
Speaker 16: believes that this is somehow politically motivated, that somehow the
38:29
Speaker 16: Democrats have you know, tricked the governor into defaulting on
38:33
Speaker 16: all those loans. That's how Jim Justice has always done business.
38:36
Speaker 16: It's like a shell game. And you know, I, you know,
38:39
Speaker 16: I really I wish the Democratic Party was that cunning
38:42
Speaker 16: and that powerful that we could somehow, you know, trick
38:45
Speaker 16: the governor into not paying his debts and not paying
38:48
Speaker 16: his taxes and having his uh hish, his you know,
38:51
Speaker 16: hotel auctioned off. I wish we were that that powerful.
38:55
Speaker 4: You know what.
38:55
Speaker 16: We'd have a heck of a lot more Democrats in
38:57
Speaker 16: office if we were. But that's uh, you know, it's
39:01
Speaker 16: not the only There's only one person to blame for
39:04
Speaker 16: the governor's financial business failures, and that's Governor Jim Justice.
39:09
Speaker 16: It's it's how he does business. He doesn't pay his debts,
39:13
Speaker 16: he doesn't pay his taxes, He shifts money around like
39:16
Speaker 16: a shell game and Uh. For him to say that
39:19
Speaker 16: he's being singled out because he's a candidate for the
39:22
Speaker 16: US Senate, because he's a Republican governor, that's ridiculous. He's
39:25
Speaker 16: getting special treatment because of who he is. He's not
39:28
Speaker 16: getting singled I mean, he's not being singled out because
39:31
Speaker 16: he's getting special treatment because and I think most of
39:34
Speaker 16: your listeners are you, and I know if we ran
39:36
Speaker 16: our businesses and treated people the way that Jim Justice
39:40
Speaker 16: does and bankrupt small companies, uh and just and not
39:44
Speaker 16: pay our debts, not pay our taxes, we'd be more
39:47
Speaker 16: likely to be candidates for prison than candidates for the
39:49
Speaker 16: United States Senate.
39:50
Speaker 5: Mike is part of his comments yesterday, the governor said
39:53
Speaker 5: JP Morgan Chase is targeting him. The head of JP
39:57
Speaker 5: Morgan Chase is Jamie Diamond. And and he has said
39:59
Speaker 5: many of said Jamie Diamond is one of the leading
40:01
Speaker 5: candidates to be Trump's Treasury secretary if he's elected in November. Now,
40:06
Speaker 5: if the if that's true, that Jamie Diamond is targeting him,
40:10
Speaker 5: that makes no sense.
40:10
Speaker 16: If that makes no sense, to say that Jamie Diamond
40:13
Speaker 16: is some like big liberal is just laughable. It is
40:16
Speaker 16: completely untrue. Jamie Diamond might be one of the few
40:19
Speaker 16: people actually benefited from the Trump tax cuts. Uh, there's
40:23
Speaker 16: Jamie Diamond is a Republican. He gives money to Republicans.
40:26
Speaker 16: He is not in cohoots with with the Harris campaign,
40:30
Speaker 16: definitely not with the West Virginia Democratic Party. He has
40:33
Speaker 16: absolutely no reason to target Jim Justice except for one thing.
40:38
Speaker 16: Jim Justice doesn't pay his debts and he has a
40:40
Speaker 16: bad investment, you know, I mean, he's a bad investment
40:42
Speaker 16: for West Virginia. He does not deserve your vote. But
40:46
Speaker 16: let me tell you one more thing.
40:47
Speaker 5: Why.
40:48
Speaker 16: It's why is somebody who has that kind of debt
40:50
Speaker 16: shouldn't be in the US Senate. They have to make
40:53
Speaker 16: very important decisions in the US Senate, some regarding foreign policy,
40:58
Speaker 16: a lot with domestic policy. It's it's and to be
41:01
Speaker 16: compromised by owing so many people money is just not
41:05
Speaker 16: a safe bet. There's a reason why you can't get
41:07
Speaker 16: even a federal job if you're in that kind of debt,
41:10
Speaker 16: because you're a compromised individual. Governor is a compromised individual.
41:14
Speaker 16: He has too much debt, too easily to be bought.
41:18
Speaker 5: But a VALANCEO and five eighty livee presented apart by
41:20

Speaker 5: For all projects big and small shop locally visit General
41:25

41:28
Speaker 5: because of Democrats like you who ruined West Virginia for
41:31
Speaker 5: over eighty years. Is why so many have left. Stay
41:33
Speaker 5: out of Florida. We don't want your mental illness here.
41:37
Speaker 5: West Virginia has zoomed light years since. Republicans stick over.
41:40
Speaker 5: Hopefully they vote you out.
41:42
Speaker 16: Well, that is that texture is from Florida.
41:44
Speaker 3: It's a regular texter That text cent for Florida.
41:46
Speaker 16: Yeah, you know, we'd love to have you back in
41:48
Speaker 16: West Virginia.
41:49
Speaker 5: Come on back, Tex says, West Virginia is the second
41:52
Speaker 5: best state to retire while having the worst healthcare system,
41:55
Speaker 5: also the least educated people.
41:56
Speaker 3: In the country.
41:57
Speaker 5: So you're telling me that people will want to retire
41:59
Speaker 5: here to be in terrible healthcare while being surrounded by
42:02
Speaker 5: a home of the least educated people in the country.
42:05
Speaker 5: West Virginia marketers have the rosiest tinted glasses. Tex says,
42:10
Speaker 5: remind Mike that the Dems ran West Virginia for eighty
42:13
Speaker 5: three years. Going to take a lot to dig us
42:15
Speaker 5: out of the hole they put us in Texas with
42:18
Speaker 5: the chairman kindly cite the single greatest accomplishment of his
42:22
Speaker 5: party's nominee, VP Harris. What's one thing you would point
42:25
Speaker 5: to as her greatest achievement in office for three and
42:27
Speaker 5: a half years and it ain't the border, So take
42:30
Speaker 5: it from there.
42:30
Speaker 16: Well, she is as I mean, she was one of
42:32
Speaker 16: the most effective United States Senators when she was there.
42:36
Speaker 16: But you watch her questioning of some of the criminals
42:40
Speaker 16: that worked in the Trump administration. She was the best
42:43
Speaker 16: at it. Now, she was a Senator for a short
42:45
Speaker 16: period of time. Before that, you know, she was the
42:48
Speaker 16: Attorney general for the state of California, which is the
42:51
Speaker 16: state of California is bigger than a lot of countries.
42:53
Speaker 16: She won, you know, that election, was elected to that position,
42:57
Speaker 16: and she did a great job at that job, so
43:02
Speaker 16: good at the people of California elected her to the
43:04
Speaker 16: United States Senate.
43:05
Speaker 5: But as vice presidents, and I granted Jane, I would
43:09
Speaker 5: agree with what j d Vance said over the weekend.
43:11
Speaker 5: You know, if you're people, ninety percent of the people
43:13
Speaker 5: don't vote for the vice president.
43:16
Speaker 16: They vote brought us a New Corps earlier. Right, say,
43:18
Speaker 16: it's a real thing. Why is that, Dave, It's because
43:21
Speaker 16: of the policies that we that were inactive in legislation
43:24
Speaker 16: by the Biden and Harris administration, and being both of
43:28
Speaker 16: them being former senators. They did senators, they did a
43:30
Speaker 16: lot of work with Senate and with Congress to get
43:33
Speaker 16: that legislation across the finish line that has greatly benefited
43:36
Speaker 16: West Virginia. Whether it's the infrastructure bill that President Trump
43:40
Speaker 16: and Vice President Pence, who he almost got killed by
43:44
Speaker 16: the way, couldn't get done. They couldn't get they only
43:48
Speaker 16: talked about an infrastructure bill. That infrastructure bill is what
43:52
Speaker 16: led to laying the groundwork to attract a business like
43:55
Speaker 16: New Corps to Mason County. But it, you know, for
43:59
Speaker 16: a long time, didn't get done. And you know it
44:01
Speaker 16: it had been to be here without the impati.
44:04
Speaker 3: I'm not saying, I'm not disagreeing.
44:06
Speaker 16: I'm trying to I'm not doing a very good job.
44:08
Speaker 16: I'm not that would not be here had it not
44:11
Speaker 16: been for the passage of the infrastructure bill, And a
44:14
Speaker 16: company like Newcore is growing because of the incentives put
44:18
Speaker 16: in place by the inflation Reduction Act. Vice President Harris
44:21
Speaker 16: was at the forefront of all these negotiations with Congress
44:24
Speaker 16: to get these things. That's done. She has actually gotten
44:26
Speaker 16: things done. Enough, tell me what was the what were
44:28
Speaker 16: the accomplishments of the Trump administration. Well, you're talking to
44:32
Speaker 16: tax cut for Jamie Diamond, who, by the way, is
44:35
Speaker 16: working against Jim Justice. According to Jim Justice.

Speaker 5: by Live Heealthy, West Virginia, presented by WVU Madison, Texas
47:46
Speaker 5: A question, Dave, You've had fun of Biden's age related
47:49
Speaker 5: issues a lot. It was deserved, I guess, as much
47:51
Speaker 5: as anyone deserves age related quipping. So can we talk
47:54
Speaker 5: about Trump nouse as a texture, not the raging insanity
47:57
Speaker 5: that makes up mega policy that hasn't changed the aging
48:00
Speaker 5: and feeble elderly man. Was that slurring and sweating old
48:04
Speaker 5: man hacking at softballs last night? Mentally competent enough to
48:07
Speaker 5: lead America. Zero chance. Not only a lunatic, but it diminished.
48:10
Speaker 5: Lunatic maga are such feckless goons. They'd be lapping dims
48:14
Speaker 5: if they would have ran any marginally normal person as
48:17
Speaker 5: a candidate.
48:17
Speaker 3: They're all weirdo. Tex says.
48:19
Speaker 5: The way the US corporate media transformed Kamala Harris from
48:22
Speaker 5: a national embarrassment to its transformative power of I'm sorry,
48:26
Speaker 5: transformative pioneer overnight without even pretending to care about anything
48:29
Speaker 5: she thinks or believes, is a powerful testament to how
48:32
Speaker 5: potent the science or propaganda is.
48:36
Speaker 16: You want me to come in on that. Now, she
48:38
Speaker 16: had the support from you know, state chairs across the country,
48:43
Speaker 16: from the vast majority almost all of the delegates who
48:47
Speaker 16: are elected to go to the convention. And that's how
48:49
Speaker 16: that's how we nominate our nominee is at the convention.
48:53
Speaker 16: And she earned that support because so we know what
48:56
Speaker 16: kind of leader.
48:56
Speaker 3: She is, Tex says, who we almost got killed.
48:59
Speaker 5: Trump was shot because in a semiary hate field rhetoric
49:02
Speaker 5: spewed by lefties like you Cackles, Bumbles, Mad Maxine, the
49:05
Speaker 5: coven on the View, Juliy Read and Vodka Polygrid Pelosi
49:10
Speaker 5: you are truly a despicable human being.
49:12
Speaker 16: I mean, we all watched it on TV on January sixth.
49:15
Speaker 16: We all watched what happened with people who were over
49:19
Speaker 16: zealously supporting President Trump and his attempt to stop the
49:25
Speaker 16: peaceful transfer of power and stop the the certification of
49:29
Speaker 16: a free and fair election. And they built gallows in
49:32
Speaker 16: front of the Capitol and they were going to they
49:35
Speaker 16: were going after Mike Pence. Mike Pence's life was in
49:38
Speaker 16: danger chance he endangered the life of his own vice president.
49:43
Speaker 16: And we saw it on TV and didn't I didn't
49:45
Speaker 16: believe me. I didn't call it off, which he could
49:47
Speaker 16: have done at any time.
49:49
Speaker 4: Yeah.
49:50
Speaker 16: I don't think that that's hyperbaly in the least.
49:52
Speaker 3: That's what happened.
49:53
Speaker 6: We saw it.
49:53
Speaker 3: I saw it.
49:54
Speaker 5: Texas Kamala Harris effective Senator Kamala Harris has done something
49:57
Speaker 5: as VP besides being a under burdened by what has
50:01
Speaker 5: been When and where is Mike performing his latest complete
50:04
Speaker 5: stand up routine?
50:05
Speaker 3: I'd love to catch the show.
50:06
Speaker 16: Oh thanks, So, you know, maybe Dave, maybe we should
50:08
Speaker 16: do you know, you do stand up well, I very
50:11
Speaker 16: let him did it a little bit in the past.
50:13
Speaker 5: We should do that, Tex says, Stop asking Jim Justice
50:15
Speaker 5: about whatever silly lie he wants you to believe about
50:18
Speaker 5: his scandalo's financial dealings. Ask him for evidence that he's
50:20
Speaker 5: not involved in a business, any business that doesn't personally
50:23
Speaker 5: benefit from his posician as governor, and that he's not
50:26
Speaker 5: a security risk because of his extensive debt where his
50:29
Speaker 5: tax returns, blind trust and separation of business and government.
50:32
Speaker 16: I couldn't say it better myself. And that's why he
50:34
Speaker 16: is a liability, and he is a compromised person, and
50:38
Speaker 16: he should not should not be representing West Virginia in
50:42
Speaker 16: the United States Senate. And does anyone really think he's
50:46
Speaker 16: going to show up? He said, I don't think. He
50:48
Speaker 16: said there was system. There's not a fiber in me
50:51
Speaker 16: that wants to go to Washington. Well, yeah, I agree.
50:53
Speaker 16: He shouldn't go to Washington. D See, he doesn't come
50:55
Speaker 16: to Charleston during the session as governor. So you can't
50:59
Speaker 16: phone in the job of a United States Senator. And
51:03
Speaker 16: West Virginia deserves a senator who's going to show up,
51:06
Speaker 16: and a Glenn Elliott is an excellent choice for Senate.
51:09
Speaker 16: He was an intern when he was a right fresh
51:12
Speaker 16: out of law school. He was an intern for Senator Bird.
51:15
Speaker 16: He knows how the Senate works, he knows where it is,
51:18
Speaker 16: and he actually plans on showing up and doing the job.
51:21
Speaker 16: That's where we should cast our vote.
51:23
Speaker 5: But a valid show on five of the Line, Brow

51:31
Speaker 5: so Governor Justice is I mean, I know you're behind
51:35
Speaker 5: your guy, Glenn Elliott, and I like Glenn. He's been
51:37
Speaker 5: on the show before. But the polls have shown Governor
51:39
Speaker 5: Justice continues to go up in polls. He's still one
51:41
Speaker 5: of the most popular governors in America. It's an uphill climb, Mike,
51:44
Speaker 5: that people simply do not care about his financial dealings.
51:47
Speaker 6: Well, you know, we're all very proud.
51:50
Speaker 16: Of the Greenbrier. I mean, it's part of West Virginia history.
51:53
Speaker 16: And you and I be ashamed to see an auctioned
51:55
Speaker 16: off on the courthouse steps because of this guy, because
51:58
Speaker 16: of the way this guy treats big business partners, because
52:01
Speaker 16: he does he refuses to pay debts, and for him
52:03
Speaker 16: to make the insinuation that somehow he's being singled out
52:07
Speaker 16: and getting treated this way because he's the governor. Of course,
52:10
Speaker 16: I think most people realize he's getting special treatment because
52:13
Speaker 16: he who he is. If you or I could not
52:15
Speaker 16: get away with not even a tenth of what Jim
52:18
Speaker 16: Justice has gotten away with in life, do you.
52:20
Speaker 3: Want to buy the Greenbrier? Maybe you an occupy it? Yeah, okay,
52:23
Speaker 3: all right, we gotta go. Mike, thanks for being here
